There are some truly great golf comedies out there (Happy Gilmore, Caddyshack, etc.) and similarly, some of the funniest Will Ferrell movies involve sports. It seems like The Hawk, which hit the 2026 TV premiere schedule July 16, should be a match made in comedy heaven, with Ferrell portraying an aging golfer seeking a huge career comeback. However, the reviews are in, and critics seem to think the new series is more double bogey than hole-in-one.

The Hawk was co-written by Will Ferrell and Harper Steele — the stars of one of 2024’s best movies, Will & Harper — as well as Chris Henchy. It features an A+ cast, reuniting Ferrell with Molly Shannon, but according to Daniel Fienberg of THR, those talents are wasted on the “most shapeless and least comedically focused” sports project of Ferrell’s career. The Hawk is “hollow and forgettable,” the critic says:

Lauren Sarner of the New York Post says she wishes Will Ferrell would have taken some of the energy he put into promoting the 2026 Netflix series — including appearing in character as Lonnie Hawkins in Kim Kardashian-approved SKIMS tighty-whities — and used it to make sure the show was actually funny. In her review of The Hawk, Sarner calls the titular character a “pale imitation” of Ferrell’s earlier work. The critic says:

Eric Goldman of IGN rates it a “Bad” 4 out of 10, calling the majority of the 10 half-hour episodes “meandering and dull.” That’s not something you expect to read about Will Ferrell, given how many funny characters we’ve gotten from him in the past, but Lonnie Hawkins does not stand up to the comedian’s previous work. Goldman says:

Richard Roeper of RogerEbert gives it 2 stars out of 4, agreeing with the above critics that everything about The Hawk reminds him of better golf movies and funnier Will Ferrell performances. The series favors “loud” over “clever” with few original gags. Roeper continues:

Erik Adams of AV Club is a little kinder to the Netflix comedy, giving it a "B" despite the critic’s admission that it “lands a few feet shy of the pin.” Adams still says it’s an “A” for effort (or, I guess a “B” for effort), because Will Ferrell is as game as ever. He says:

Will Ferrell is quite the character, but that doesn’t always translate into laughs. The Hawk reviews indicate there was a surprising lack of humor and even some mean-spiritedness in the 10 episodes, as well. So far, 24 critics on Rotten Tomatoes are rating the series at a pretty putrid 29%. However, if you’re a fan of Ferrell or any of the talented ensemble, you should definitely check out the show and draw your own conclusions.

Spoiler alert! This story will reveal spoilers about the 2005 movie The Family Stone, which is available to stream with a Prime Video subscription or Hulu subscription.

Families coming together for the holidays make for such a good starting off point for so many stories — including several on the 2025 Christmas movie schedule — especially if there’s a twist involved, like introducing your partner to your family. The 2005 flick The Family Stone offered a brilliantly heightened look into such a situation, and I was so excited to find out a sequel is in the works. To that end, there is one thing I’d love from The Family Stone 2, but also, I have a big concern.

The Family Stone featured an ensemble cast of impressive names like Sarah Jessica Parker, Craig T. Nelson, Claire Danes and, of course, Diane Keaton. Still, this one doesn’t find its way onto everybody’s list of favorite Christmas films. The titular Stones are an admittedly flawed bunch, and on top of having characters who are hard to like, this one is practically guaranteed to make you cry.

I get it, I understand every argument against it, and you’ll just never make me hate it. Before I get into my hopes and fears, though, let’s look at what we know about the upcoming sequel.

The Family Stone 2 Is In The Works Following Diane Keaton’s Death

We’re going to get into spoiler territory here, so turn back now if you aren’t aware of how the 2005 Christmas movie plays out. The Family Stone is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, and following Diane Keaton’s death in October at age 79, writer-director Thomas Bezucha revealed to CNN that he’d already been thinking of catching up with the Stones.

While The Family Stone centers around Everett (Dermot Mulroney) introducing his uptight girlfriend Meredith (Sarah Jessica Parker) to his judgmental family, the story takes a twist when the Stone children catch onto the fact that their mother Sybil has been diagnosed with a terminal illness (the implication is a recurrence of breast cancer).

Diane Keaton’s death made Thomas Bezucha want to “honor her even more,” with a sequel, despite the fact that it plagued him. He said:

The Family Stone 2 has not officially been green-lit, and none of the ensemble cast has officially signed on, but Thomas Bezucha said he has spoken to everyone and received unanimously positive responses. (Craig T. Nelson and Dermot Mulroney have both acknowledged the project.) The director also said he was only interested in doing the sequel if he could get the original cast back, so we’ll definitely be keeping our eyes on this one.

I’d Love For The Sequel To Feature Another Introduction To The Stone Family

When Everett brought Meredith home to meet the family two decades ago, the next generation of Stones had already begun to form. Susannah (Elizabeth Reaser) was pregnant with her second child, and by the end of the movie, Thad and Patrick (Tyrone Giordano and Brian J. White, respectively) had adopted a son. I think it would be fun to see one of the Stone’s next generation — who would now theoretically be in their 20s — bring home a partner to meet the family.

In addition to the above couples, The Family Stone also saw Everett winding up with Meredith’s sister Julie (Claire Danes), Meredith getting together with Everett’s brother Ben (Luke Wilson), and Amy (in one of Rachel McAdams’ best roles) reconnecting with Brad (Paul Schneider). Any one of these couples could have borne children who could carry out the nod to the plot of the original film.

But here’s the twist: Maybe this time the family members aren’t quite such assholes? Perhaps Sybil’s death has softened them, or Kelly (Craig T. Nelson) has won them over with his “generosity of spirit” mantra that exactly zero of them abided by back in 2005. Here’s my big issue with that idea, though.

I’m Worried Making The Stones Likeable Would Reflect Badly On Diane Keaton’s Character

There’s no doubt in my mind that should The Family Stone 2 actually come to fruition, it will and should be a tribute to Diane Keaton. However, what happens when the Stone family members realize that Sybil was the problem all along? The ending of the first movie even takes a step in that direction, showing a much softer side to all of the family members as they gather for their first holiday without the matriarch.

If we’re being honest, I do believe Sybil Stone was the instigator, and it was an absolute treat to watch Diane Keaton portray this deliciously petty, overbearing, passive-aggressive mother. She mocked Meredith to her face for trying to be polite, she talked openly about Amy’s sex life despite her daughter’s protests and she facilitated pretty much all of the toxic behavior happening at the Stone family Christmas.

(However, I will never fault her for defending Thad and Patrick during one of the most awkward family dinners ever on screen, even if there was probably a better way to handle it. Protect these men at all costs.)

So regardless of whether or not a new person is being introduced to the Stone family in the sequel, I don’t know how you solve this conundrum: Either the family is still illogically mean and unlikeable, or they’ve turned into pleasant people now that Sybil has passed on and is no longer around to encourage the bad behavior. And what kind of tribute to Diane Keaton would that be?

Either way, it’s going to be admittedly difficult to see the Stones reunite without Sybil — the final scene of The Family Stone was already difficult — and I imagine Diane Keaton’s presence will be missed in every scene. Still, even knowing this, and with the concern I talked out above, I’m really hoping The Family Stone 2 comes together.

The 2005 film is available to stream on Prime Video and Hulu, if you’d like to relive the Stone holiday drama. It really can put your own family get-togethers into perspective, and some people say it’s better the second time around anyway!

When it comes to toxic relationships, I'm sure there are plenty we could all think of. In 2024 though, the first TV couple that comes to my mind is JD and Margo from Netflix's No Good Deed. However, JD's actor, Luke Wilson, actually had a surprising take on their relationship when I spoke to him – and it makes me want to rewatch the series.

No Good Deed comes from Liz Feldman, the creator of Dead to Me, who is no stranger to writing up characters that get your blood boiling, which Margo and JD certainly accomplish. At the end of Episode 8, we see that JD and Margo's house has burned down, but both are still alive – JD is acting again and Margo is arrested, with the two supposedly leading separate lives. I knew I had to ask Luke Wilson if he believes that if there were to be a Season 2 or a continuation of their story, did he think their paths would ever cross again. His answer was a yes, with a shocking look at their interactions – that JD actually needs Margo:

It's not that surprising if we're being honest. Despite Margo being the epitome of a gold digger in No Good Deed, enough to make Luke Wilson ask, "Who the hell is this person?" when co-star Linda Cardellini acted as her, a co-dependent relationship where someone needs the other to just purely function is quite common, especially with their shared lives.

Wilson commented on that as well, saying if they were lucky enough to continue the story, these two had to interact at some point – whether it's over sharing custody of a child or something else:

Now that I think about it, there's really no good relationship in No Good Deed that's completely healthy. From the big fight scene in Episode 7 between the Morgans, to Dennis and Carla keeping secrets from each other to so much more, it really takes the name of the show – No Good Deed – to heart.

It does make me want to rewatch the series now, specifically to really look into Margo and JD's relationship more. Maybe I'd understand where they're coming from a little better with Wilson's comments in mind and see how they could function together... or perhaps I'll end up just hating them more. Who knows?

Even so, No Good Deed earned good reviews from critics and became a big hit on Netflix, so people are loving these unhealthy couples. And if Season 2 happens, we might get to see way more of them - and all their crazy (and toxic) shenanigans.

If you've been keeping up with Linda Cardellini's career, you know that she's a chameleon when it comes to her roles. Whether she's the sweetest person alive or someone you literally cannot stand, she can pull off next to everything. Now, the actress and her No Good Deed co-star Luke Wilson have proven that point again through their perfect reaction to her latest character, Margo, and their explanation of the shock they felt while filming the series.

For those who don't know, No Good Deed is the latest series from Dead to Me creator Liz Feldman. Dead to Me itself is one of the best shows to binge on Netflix, and one of the stars just so happened to be Linda Cardellini, who received critical acclaim for her part as Judy Hale.

Judy Hale is one of the sweetest people imaginable and we all love her. However, after that show ended, Cardellini spoke to Feldman (who told Netflix's Tudum), and said she wanted to play something that was the opposite of Hale in this new series – a "badass bitch," which was delivered in the form of Margo. So, I asked the No Good Deed star if she believed that she accomplished that goal with her character. She says she does think she did in "some ways," because Margot is so complicated in comparison to many other characters she has done:

Margo is one of the Morgans' neighbors who is making an effort to buy their house for very selfish reasons. She wants to keep her husband, but there are so many moments throughout the series that make you wonder what her true intentions are.

In fact, her co-star, Luke Wilson, told me that her character in the show is one of the few times where he was truly blown away. He even asked 'who the hell' this person was that he was talking to because Margo was so opposite of who Cardellini is:

There have been plenty of great characters that Cardellini has played over the last several decades that have shown her range – from Chutney Windham in Legally Blonde, one of Reese Witherspoon's best movies, to Velma in the Scooby-Doo films, to even Clint Barton's wife, Laura, in the MCU. But Margo is where we really see Cardellini at her most unhinged – and it's a heck of a fun and shocking time.

Since its premiere on the 2024 TV schedule, No Good Deed has been praised as “quirky yet macabre.” If the series returns for a Season 2 – because we know she did make it out of the fire that was set to her house at the very end – it would be interesting to see Margo return in some way and if her behavior will have changed at all. Whatever the case, I'll be watching – whether it's a part of the 2025 Netflix schedule or beyond.

A new comedy has just hit the 2024 Netflix calendar, and it’s impossible to not be intrigued by the strength of its ensemble cast. Lisa Kudrow and Ray Romano star as homeowners Lydia and Paul Morgan, and they are just two of the comedy veterans featured in No Good Deed. Ahead of the series’ release on the 2024 TV schedule, critics were given a chance to screen the new dark comedy. Now, you can see what the reviews are saying to decide if you should make this the next thing you binge on Netflix.

No Good Deed will see Lydia and Paul looking to sell their home to one of three interested couples, who are played by Poppy Liu and Abbi Jacobson; Teyonah Parris and O-T Fagbenle; and Luke Wilson and Linda Cardellini. Throw in a possible murder and this sounds like quite the interesting real estate venture. Kelly Lawler of USA TODAY sure thinks so, rating the series 3.5 out of 4 stars. The critic says despite the number of characters and competing plots, the series is worth the binge, as it comes to quite a satisfying conclusion. Lawler says:

Philip Mutz of PureWow praises the actors of this “twist-a-minute” dark comedy, predicting that No Good Deed will be a fixture at the top of Netflix subscription holders’ top 10. In Mutz’s words:

Isabella Soares of Collider gives the series a 7 out of 10, writing that No Good Deed is a prime example of an ensemble piece done right. Linda Cardellini is compelling as a character opposite her role in Dead to Me, and Lisa Kudrow gets to flex her acting chops far past her beloved Friends character. Soares continues:

Rebecca Nicholson of The Guardian rates No Good Deed 3 stars out of 5, calling the eight-episode series “occasionally clumsy” but well-paced and packed with plot. The ensemble is excellent, Nicholson says, finding a way to blend slapstick comedy with, at times, painful family tragedy. The critic says:

Saloni Gajjar of AV Club, however, doesn’t agree. The critic gives the new show a C, saying this series is not worth your investment. The ensemble is wasted, according to Gajjar, but No Good Deed’s worst offense is its unimaginative whodunit. More from the review:

It’s hard to argue with a series that stars such comedic greats, especially with several of them getting to show how well they dip into drama as well. The critics mostly agree this twisty tale is a satisfying binge, so if you want to check out Lisa Kudrow, Ray Romano, Linda Cardellini and the rest, No Good Deed is available to stream on Netflix now.

The X-Files is an iconic show to come out of the early '90s, and the combination of mythology stories and Monster of the Week episodes created enough of a hit to last nine original seasons, two revival seasons, and two feature films. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson aren't the only big names to come out of the show, however, as a number of the guest stars went on to become stars of their own shows. Read on for the standouts!

Ryan Reynolds

Ryan Reynolds is known for big screen ventures like the Deadpool films nowadays, but The X-Files fans saw a very young version of the actor in the Season 3 episode “Syzygy” in 1996… briefly, anyway! His character was killed off before the end of the cold open, but Reynolds would go on to star in ABC’s hit Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place sitcom from 1998-2001.

Bryan Cranston

Bryan Cranston proved a master of comedy with Malcolm in the Middle and of drama with Breaking Bad, but he flexed his acting muscles on The X-Files earlier on. While playing the ill-fated Patrick Crump in the Season 6 episode “Drive” wasn’t his first TV credit, the 1998 gig introduced him to executive producer Vince Gilligan, who would go on to cast Cranston as Walter White.

Jack Black

Long before School of Rock and The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Jack Black played Bart “Zero” Liquori in Episode 3 of The X-Files’ third season in 1995. He would later star in TV projects like Tenacious D between 1997-2000, The Brink in 2015, and the Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight animated series from 2022-2023.

Terry O'Quinn

Terry O’Quinn portrayed three different franchise characters. He played Lt. Brian Tillman in the “Aubrey” episode of Season 2 in 1995, SAC Michaud in The X-Files: Fight the Future feature film, and Shadow Man in the “Trust No 1” episode of Season 9 in 2002. Best known now as John Locke on Lost from 2004-2010, he also recurred on shows including Hawaii Five-0, FBI: Most Wanted, and Resident Alien.

Luke Wilson

Luke Wilson holds a special place in the hearts of many X-Files fans for starring as the vampire sheriff Lucius Hartwell in arguably the show’s best episode: “Bad Blood” in 1998. Following that Season 5 episode, he landed multi-episode gigs on shows including That ‘70s Show and Roadies before starring in the DC Comics-based series Stargirl from 2020-2022.

Lucy Liu

Future Kill Bill actress Lucy Liu played Kim Hsin in The X-Files’ third season episode called “Hell Money” back in 1996. She debuted in her first series regular role on the sitcom Pearl later that year, but her big TV break would be Ling Woo on Ally McBeal before playing Dr. Joan Watson in CBS’ Elementary from 2012-2019.

Tony Shalhoub

Before he was an Emmy- and Tony Award-winner, Tony Shalhoub appeared in the Season 2 episode of The X-Files called “Soft Light” as the very stressed Dr. Chester Ray Banton. While he was already starring on NBC’s sitcom Wings at the time, his most acclaimed (and award-winning) work came later with Monk starting in 2002 and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel starting in 2017.

Jane Lynch

The ninth season of The X-Files wasn't the most popular, but the “Lord of the Flies” episode in 2001 featured Jane Lynch as Mrs. Anne T. Lokensgard years before she introduced the world to Sue Sylvester on Fox’s Glee. For that role, she'd be nominated for three Emmys and win one over the course of six seasons from 2009-2015.

Felicity Huffman

Considering Felicity Huffman's later fame for Sports Night, American Crime, and Desperate Housewives, it can be easy to overlook her very early episode of The X-Files as Dr. Nancy Da Silva in 1993. The Season 1 episode was an homage to the iconic horror film The Thing and remains one of the show’s best more than thirty years later.

Shia LaBeouf

When one thinks of Shia LaBeouf as a child star, his lead role as Louis Stevens in Disney Channel’s Even Stevens from 2000-2003 probably comes to mind first. One year earlier, however, the future household name played a sick youngster by the name of Richie in a Season 7 episode of The X-Files called “The Goldberg Variation.”

CCH Pounder

While CCH Pounder only appeared as Agent Lucy Kazdin in one episode of The X-Files, Season 2's “Duane Barry” was pivotal. Starting later in 1994, Pounder appeared in the first four seasons of ER before arriving on The Shield in 2002. Her longest-running role has been playing NCIS: New Orleans' Dr. Loretta Wade for all seven seasons from 2014-2021.

BD Wong

While BD Wong appeared in Jurassic Park in the early ‘90s, small-screen stardom would take longer. He played Detective Glen Chao in The X-Files’ “Hell Money” episode of Season 3 in 1996, before he’d go on to a role in Oz from 1997-2003 and Law & Order: SVU starting in 2001. He’d eventually become one of the Law & Order stars to appear in most episodes.

Donal Logue

Donal Logue guest-starred in The X-Files' very first Monster of the Week episode, called “Squeeze,” in 1993. He went on to recur in later seasons of ER before starring in all five seasons of Grounded for Life and all five seasons of Gotham, which wrapped after 100 episodes in 2019.

Peter Boyle

Peter Boyle’s career goes back to the 1960s, but X-Files Season 3 fans will remember him for playing the title character in “Clyde Bruckman’s Final Repose” in 1995, for which he won an Emmy. He would then score another seven Emmy nominations for playing Frank Barone across nine seasons of Everybody Loves Raymond from 1996-2005.

Laurie Holden

Laurie Holden wasn’t a one-off guest star on The X-Files but would appear in ten episodes as Marita Covarrubias between 1996-2002. She’d become more of a household name as part of the original cast of The Walking Dead regulars, and she ranks among the Walking Dead cast members to appear in most episodes.

Aaron Paul

The future Breaking Bad star can be found in a Season 9 episode of The X-Files, called “Lord of the Flies” in 2001, where he played a character with the distinguished name of “Sky Commander Winky.” He would go on to recur on Big Love before landing his career-making role as Jesse Pinkman opposite Bryan Cranston. Post-Breaking Bad credits include The Path, BoJack Horseman, and Westworld.

Michael Emerson

Years before his Emmy-winning portrayal of Ben on Lost, Michael Emerson guest-starred in the final Monster of the Week episode of The X-Files’ original run. Called “Sunshine Days,” the Season 9 episode in 2002 preceded his guest stint on Without a Trace, his role in Saw, and of course five seasons of Lost. Other long-running roles since The X-Files include Person of Interest and Evil.

Jesse L. Martin

Jesse L. Martin arrived on The X-Files to play baseball-loving alien Josh Exley in “The Unnatural,” the Season 6 episode written and directed by David Duchovny in 1999. Later that year, Martin joined the cast of Law & Order, where he remained for nine seasons and nearly 200 episodes. The Flash was his next series regular gig until 2023, followed by The Irrational early in the 2024 TV lineup.

Bradley Whitford

While Bradley Whitford is likely best remembered for his work as Josh Lyman in The West Wing starting in 1999, he had a very different part to play in The X-Files’ second season in 1994. He portrayed the unfortunate Daniel Trepkos in “Firewalker.” Whitford has three Emmy wins to his name since the early ‘90s thanks to his work on The West Wing, Transparent, and The Handmaid’s Tale.

Paul McCrane

Paul McCrane played the titular character in the Season 4 episode called “Leonard Betts” in 1997. He’s also responsible for one of the most iconic lines in The X-Files history: “I’m sorry, but you’ve got something I need.” McCrane joined the cast of ER later that year to play Dr. Robert Romano across seven seasons, ending his time in one of the medical drama’s most memorable deaths.

Kurtwood Smith

Although he would later be quite well known for a different Fox series, Kurtwood Smith portrayed Agent Bill Patterson in the Season 3 episode called “Grotesque,” which aired on the network in 1996. Two years later, he was back on Fox for That ‘70s Show to play Red Forman for eight seasons and 200 episodes. Smith more recently reprised the role for Netflix’s That ‘90s Show.

Octavia Spencer

Octavia Spencer’s episode of The X-Files in 1999 may be better remembered as the one that delivered the first actual kiss between Mulder and Scully, but you can find the actress in the Season 7 episode titled “Millennium.” In addition to winning her Academy Award for The Help, Spencer landed many guest and recurring TV gigs before her lead role in Apple TV+’s Truth Be Told from 2019-2023.

Seth Green

Seth Green was a guest in the very first episode of The X-Files following the pilot, as Emil in “Deep Throat” in 1993. While it wasn’t his first TV role, it preceded his work as Oz on Buffy the Vampire Slayer from 1997-2000. He really hit his stride as a voice actor with Robot Chicken and Family Guy in particular, with hundreds of episodes of each show to his name.

Garrett Dillahunt

The X-Files is one of Garret Dillahunt’s earliest credits, as he played Edward Skur in the flashback-heavy Season 5 episode “Travelers” in 1998. He may be better remembered for his work in Deadwood which started several years later in 2004, followed by TV projects including all four seasons of Raising Hope, three seasons of The Mindy Project, and three seasons of Fear the Walking Dead.

Dean Norris

Dean Norris is a master of playing characters in law enforcement, including Marshal Tapia in The X-Files’ Season 2 episode “F. Emasculata” in 1995. His biggest TV break would come years later as Hank Schrader in Breaking Bad, and he appeared in all three seasons of CBS’ Under the Dome and all four seasons of TNT’s Claws before recurring in Law & Order: Organized Crime’s fourth season as well.

Lucy Lawless

Lucy Lawless’ most iconic work to date was likely as Xena in Xena: Warrior Princess for syndication from 1995-2001, but she came to network TV primetime in 2001 for two episodes of The X-Files Season 9 as alien super-soldier Shannon McMahon. She’d go on to recur across the last three seasons of Battlestar Galactica and become one of the faces of Starz’s Spartacus franchise of shows starting in 2010.

Brad Dourif

Brad Dourif is one of The X-Files’ most memorable early guest stars as serial killer Luther Lee Boggs in Season’s “Beyond the Sea” in 1991, but he really made a mark on TV starting in 2004 with playing Doc Cochran in Deadwood. More recently, he has been voicing the demonic doll himself in the Chucky series that premiered in 2021.

Bruce Campbell

After the Evil Dead films, Bruce Campbell was a perfect casting for a show like The X-Files in its sixth season. He played Wayne Weinsider in the twisted “Terms of Endearment” episode of 1999. Campbell would later spend seven seasons on USA as part of the Burn Notice cast, and – of course – reprise his role as Ash for all three seasons of the Ash vs Evil Dead TV show.

Willie Garson

The late Willie Garson played two different characters on The X-Files: Quinton “Roach” Freely in Season 3’s “The Walk” in 1995 and Henry Weems in Season 7’s “The Goldberg Variation” in 1999. His most well-known work is likely playing Stanford Blatch on Sex and the City across all six seasons starting in 1998. He would also star in all six seasons of USA’s White Collar following its 2009 premiere.

Giovanni Ribisi

Giovanni Ribisi certainly wasn’t unknown in television when he guest-starred as Darin Peter Oswald in Season 3 of The X-Files in 1995, but it was before he made his Friends debut as Frank Buffay Jr. More significantly, he starred in Fox’s Dads opposite Seth Green from 2013-2014 and then all three seasons of Prime Video’s Sneaky Pete from 2015-2019.

Mark Sheppard

Mark Sheppard only had a couple of credits in the entertainment industry to his name when he appeared as Cecil L’Ively in the Season 1 episode “Fire” in 1993. He then landed ongoing roles in shows like Soldier of Fortune, Inc., 24, and Battlestar Galactica, but he’s best known for portraying the fan-favorite demon Crowley on Supernatural for eight of the show’s fifteen seasons.

Danny Trejo

Danny Trejo came to The X-Files in Season 8 to play Cesar Ocampo in “Redrum” in the show’s early post-Mulder era. In addition to some film credits following TXF, he arrived on The Young and the Restless in 2008 and – most notably – Sons of Anarchy to play Romeo Parada starting in 2011. He’s also a prolific voice actor for shows including King of the Hill, The Adventures of Puss in Boots, and Big City Greens.

If you were to put the best movies about college and some classic courtroom dramas together in a Venn diagram, appearing in the middle would be Legally Blonde. Based on the novel by Amanda Brown and later the basis for a hit stage musical, the story of Elle Woods' rise from popular sorority beauty queen to successful Harvard Law scholar is an inspirational one, especially for anyone who ever struggled with discovering themselves beyond face value.

Director Robert Luketic's feature film debut is also one of the best Reese Witherspoon movies and boasts a career-defining performance (before her Oscar win for Walk the Line) that is complemented by a wonderful supporting ensemble  including Luke Wilson, Selma Blair, and more we hope to see in the upcoming third installment of the franchise. For those who want to know so badly about where our favorite Harvard Law School graduate lawyer Elle Woods is right now, you won’t have to wait too long. Legally Blonde 3 is officially happening with Reese Witherspoon coming back to grace us with her pink wardrobe and witty remarks. But one of the questions on our mind is, will Luke Wilson who played Elle Woods’ adorable husband be cast in this threequel? 

The last time we saw Emmett and Elle Woods was in Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde where the two got married in Washington D.C. with a little hint that it could be their permanent residence. But would Emmett and Elle still be married by the third movie or will Elle get a new love interest? Good Morning America tweeted a video where they sat down with Emmett’s Luke Wilson about potentially appearing in the next Legally Blonde movie. 

This zoom call Wilson was referencing was towards the time the Legally Blonde cast took that exciting step in reuniting on Zoom as a way to benefit the #ChefsForAmerica Initiative. With all of the chemistry and loving memories shared during this Zoom call, it would be too hard to pass up the opportunity to reunite in person for a new movie. While it’s a given that Reese Witherspoon will come back to reprise her iconic role as Elle Woods, all of the other casting decisions are up in the air. The Office’s Mindy Kaling, one of the new writers of the movie, did tell US Weekly’s Andy Cohen that Jennifer Coolidge is “1,000 percent” going to make an appearance. We’ll see for ourselves if she can still show people if she can bend and snap as well as she did in the first movie. And maybe Witherspoon’s look-alike daughter Ava can find a place in the upcoming movie.

Emmett and Elle were clearly relationship goals. As soon as this lawyer/teaching assistant saw the new Harvard Law acceptee feeling out of place in her new legal surroundings, he pushed her to stand up to her professors and keep going. He saw potential in Elle as she would battle it out in court despite those who discouraged her. And then gave up his dreams to get married at Fenway Park so that Elle could get married in Washington D.C. where was working on a bill to stop animal testing. And he still got to stand on home plate at the altar which is a marriage compromise already! There's no way that any other love interest could inspire Elle the way Emmett did. While one of the alternate endings of the first movie was to have Emmett and Elle kiss, we all know it wasn’t the ending the film needed as it was more important for Elle to have her foot in the legal door compared to landing the guy.

As for what’s currently happening now with Legally Blonde 3, the script is still in the process of being written. Once they have a working script, onto filming they go. While it may be frustrating when a movie takes so long to make, it’s important to have patience during this time as they don't want to make a movie that tarnishes “Reese’s Avengers franchise” as Kaling puts it. While we may not have a plot yet for the third movie, The Mindy Project actress says that the film will tackle the questions of whether Elle at 42 has accomplished all that she wanted in her life and if events since the end of the second movie have changed her perspective on the world now.

Let’s all keep our fingers crossed that Luke Wilson will continue being Reese Witherspoon’s leading man for the third Legally Blonde movie and that Elle and Emmett are still going strong. Twin brothers Dylan and Cole Sprouse (the latter of which went on to join the Riverdale cast) have shared the same role in several TV shows (most notably Grace Under Fire) and movies (such as Big Daddy with Adam Sandler) and have played siblings just as often, most famously as the title characters of The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, its spin-off The Suite Life on Deck, and 2011’s The Suite Life Movie.

Tia, Tamera, And Tahj Mowry  (Sister, Sister, Smart Guy, Seventeen Again)

Twin sisters Tia and Tamera Mowry have shared the screen with their little brother, Tahj, several times - most notably as guest stars on each other’s respective sitcoms, Sister, Sister and Smart Guy, and in the 2000 Showtime original movie, Seventeen Again.

Aly And AJ Michalka (Various)

Singer-songwriter duo Aly and AJ Michalka first shared the screen in the 2006 Disney Channel original movie Cow Belles as sisters, again in the MTV original Super Sweet 16: The Movie the next year as rivals, followed by three episodes of Aly’s CW series Hellcats in 2011 as half-sisters. Most recently, they appeared in the 2015 drama, Weepah Way For Now, as what appear to be fictionalized versions of themselves.

Dakota And Elle Fanning (I Am Sam, Taken)

Elle Fanning has portrayed a younger version of her older sister, Dakota, on two separate occasions: first in the 2001 drama I Am Sam and secondly in the Steven Spielberg-produced, Syfy original miniseries, Taken, in 2002.

Spencer And Abigail Breslin (Various)

Academy Award nominee Abigail and her older brother, Spencer, played siblings in both Raising Helen and The Princess Diaries 2: A Royal Engagement in 2004, played elves in The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause in 2006, and later played cousins in the 2014 crime drama, Perfect Sisters.

Jason And Justine Bateman (Arrested Development)

Justine Bateman played her real-life brother, Jason's, sibling in the 1986 TV movie Can You Feel Me Dancing? and a sex worker whom Jason’s Michael Bluth mistakes for his long-lost sibling on Arrested Development.

John, Joan, Ann, And Bill Cusack (Grosse Pointe Blank)

While beloved star John Cusack and his Academy-nominated sister, Joan, have appeared in more films together than most celebrity siblings can claim (including Say Anything… and High Fidelity), the only screen credit that they also share with both their sister, Ann, and brother, Bill, is 1997’s Grosse Pointe Blank, which John also co-wrote and produced.

Rory And Kieran Culkin (Igby Goes Down)

In addition to playing Macaulay’s younger self in Richie Rich, the youngest Culkin brother, Rory, also played a younger version of Kieran as the title role in 2002's Igby Goes Down.

The Wayans Siblings (Various) 

Where do we start with the Wayans Siblings? Well, for instance, several of them (such as Damon and Kim Wayans) were a part of the In Living Color cast with star and creator Keenen Ivory Wayans, who later directed his younger brothers, Marlon and Shawn, in movies like White Chicks, the first two Scary Movie installments, and Little Man.

Zooey And Emily Deschanel (Bones)

In Season 5 of Bones, star Emily Deschanel’s sister (Zooey of the Elf cast fame and later the lead of the New Girl cast) guest starred as Temperance Brennan’s second cousin, Margaret Whitesell.

Fred And Ben Savage (Little Monsters, The Wonder Years, Boy Meets World)

After playing siblings in the family-friendly horror film, Little Monsters, in 1989, Ben Savage made a guest appearance on his older brother, Fred’s, hit dramedy, The Wonder Years, in 1990 and later returned the favor by inviting him to the Boy Meets World cast for an episode in 1998.

Charlie Sheen And Emilio Estevez (Various)

Nat And Alex Wolff (The Naked Brothers Band, Mr. Troop Mom, Stella’s Last Weekend)

Hereditary’s Alex Wolff and his older brother, Peacock’s Joe vs. Carole cast member Nat Wolff, both debuted as fictionalized versions of themselves in Nickelodeon’s faux rockumentary, The Naked Brothers Band, its series continuation, and the 2009 TV movie Mr. Troop Mom before reuniting in 2018’s Stella’s Last Weekend, which was written and directed by their mother, Polly Draper.

Vera And Taissa Farmiga (Higher Ground, At Middleton, The Nun)

Euphoria’s Maude Apatow and her younger sister, Iris, have played siblings in 2007’s Knocked Up, its “sort-of sequel” This is 40 from 2012, and 2009’s Funny People - all three of which also starred their real mother, Leslie Mann, as their mother, and were written and directed by their father, Judd Apatow.

Dan And Sarah Levy (Schitt’s Creek)

While Annie Murphy plays co-creator Dan Levy’s on-screen sister in the Schitt’s Creek cast, Café Tropical owner, Twyla Sands, is played by his real-life sister, Sarah.

Mary-Kate, Ashley, And Elizabeth Olsen (How The West Was Fun)

After Full House made the Olsen Twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley, household names and  before the Marvel movies made their younger sister, Elizabeth, an A-lister, all three of them appeared together in the ABC original TV movie How the West Was Fun in 1994.

Bill And Alexander Skarsgård (White Water Fury)

Years before his terrifying performance as Pennywise in It, Bill Skarsgård made his acting debut alongside his older brother, True Blood cast member Alexander, in the 2000 Swedish thriller, White Water Fury.

Robyn Lively, star of 1989’s Teen Witch, shared the screen with her then up-and-coming half-sister, former Gossip Girl cast member Blake Lively, in a 2006 slasher flick called Simon Says, which also stars fellow ‘80s icon Crispin Glover.

Brian And Domhnall Gleeson (Mother!, Frank Of Ireland)

Despite plenty of years of experience between the them, it was not until 2017 when Star Wars star Domnhall Gleeson and his younger brother, Brian, shared the screen in Mother! before reuniting as co-creators and co-stars of the Amazon Prime original comedy Frank of Ireland - also starring their father, Brendan Gleeson.

Eddie And Charlie Murphy (Harlem Nights, Norbit)

Comedy icon Eddie Murphy worked behind the scenes a lot with his older brother, Charlie, who passed away in 2017, but the two would also share a few acting credits, - namely Eddie’s 1989 directorial debut Harlem Nights (also Charlie’s first movie), and in 2006’s Norbit, in which Charlie voiced a dog named Floyd.

Phylicia Rashad And Debbie Allen (The Cosby Show, Grey’s Anatomy, The Old Settler)

Phylicia Rashad and her younger sister, Emmy-winning dance legend Debbie Allen, have made guest appearances on each other’s shows - The Cosby Show, on which Rashad played Claire Huxtable, and Grey’s Anatomy, on which Allen plays Dr. Catherine Fox (née Avery) - and both starred in a 2001 TV movie called The Old Settler, which Allen also directed.

Ron And Clint Howard (Various) 

You can find Clint Howard in just about every movie directed by his brother, Ron Howard - including his feature-length directorial debut from 1977, Grand Theft Auto, which was also the brothers’ third time acting alongside each other after the 1963 film The Courtship of Eddie’s Father and a handful of episodes of The Andy Griffith Show.

Angelina Jolie And James Haven (Gia, Hell’s Kitchen, Original Sin)

Audiences probably remember Angelina Jolie’s brother, James Haven, better for other reasons than all the times he shared the screen with his younger sister - namely Gia and Hell’s Kitchen from 1998, and 2001’s Original Sin.

Jared And Shannon Leto (Various)

In addition to being bandmates with his young brother, Oscar winner Jared Leto, in 30 Seconds to Mars, Shannon Leto also shared the screen with him on a couple of episodes of My So-Called Life (on which Jared played the iconic Jordan Catalano) and through brief appearances in the movies Prefontaine from 1997, 1998’s Highway, and Sol Goode in 2003.

Chris And Scott Evans (Before We Go, Playing It Cool)

Former Captain America actor Chris Evans has a brother named Scott who has also appeared in two romantic-comedies from 2014 with his older sibling, called Before We Go (which Chris also directed) and Playing It Cool.

Sarah And Laura Silverman (The Sarah Silverman Program, Bob’s Burgers, Masters Of Sex)

Comedian and actress Sarah Silverman and her sister, Laura, played heavily fictionalized versions of themselves as series regulars on The Sarah Silverman Program, made guest appearances on Showtime’s Masters of Sex together, and have recurred on Bob’s Burgers as Jimmy Pesto’s twin sons, Andy and Ollie.

Kevin, Nick, And Joe Jonas (Camp Rock Movies, Jonas)

Back when they were the biggest thing to come out of Disney Channel, Kevin, Nick, and Joe Jonas played three brothers in a band not named the Jonas Brothers in the Camp Rock movies, and later played themselves to more comedic effect in their own sitcom, aptly titled Jonas.

Looks like talent really does run in the family.

One of my all-time favorite movies is Legally Blonde. If someone held me hostage and told me I had to quote the entire movie to live, I’d be freed in a heartbeat. 

Okay, while that may be a bit of an exaggeration, I do love this movie, from the moment I first watched it to now, years later, and it got me wondering about where the cast of this iconic comedy is today, from Reese Witherspoon all the way down to Linda Cardellini. With Legally Blonde 3 in the works, let’s take a look at where the Legally Blonde cast is today, more than twenty years later.  

Reese Witherspoon (Elle Woods)

Reese Witherspoon was the perfect Elle Woods in Legally Blonde. I don’t think anyone could have played the role better. Understandably, Witherspoon’s career has taken off even more since her appearance in the classic. 

Witherspoon has appeared in many of her best movies, that have done well both critically and financially, since Legally Blonde 2. This includes the funny romantic comedy, Sweet Home Alabama, the critically acclaimed Walk the Line (for which she won an Academy Award), Mud, Inherent Vice, and more. She’s also stepped into voice-acting, including a performance in Sing, and reprising her role in the Sing 2 cast. 

She’s also had a successful career in television, with leading roles in shows such as the HBO original, Big Little Lies, the Apple TV+ series, The Morning Show, and the Hulu original series, Little Fires Everywhere, all of which were received very well and earned her several nominations. She’s also actively working on the Legally Blonde 3 script with writer Mindy Kaling, so it won’t be long before we see her return as Elle Woods!

Luke Wilson (Emmett Richmond)

Emmett was the perfect love interest in Legally Blonde, and he was played by the talented Luke Wilson. Since his appearance, besides reappearing in Legally Blonde 2, he’s been in plenty of big movies. They include the comedy, Old School, the Anchorman series alongside Will Ferrell, The Skeleton Twins, High Voltage, Zombieland: Double Tap, All the Bright Places, and more. 

Wilson has also had success on TV. He played Levi Callow on Enlightened for a few years, Bill on Roadies, and recently, took on the role of Pat Dugan/S.T.R.I.P.E. on the CW’s Stargirl. I can’t wait to see what he does next. 

Selma Blair (Vivian Kensington)

I’m pretty sure at first we all hated Vivian, but slowly, she started to grow on us in Legally Blonde. Vivian was played by Selma Blair, who has had success in both film and TV. Some of her biggest hits have been the Hellboy movies, directed by Guillermo del Toro, as Liz Sherman, the After franchise, The Sweetest Thing, and more. 

On television, she’s had some huge roles on comedies such as Kath and Kim, Anger Management, Another Life, and more. She’s also had several recurring roles on series like Lost in Space on Netflix, Heathers, Out There, and more. She even played Kris Jenner in The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, really showing off her dramatic skills. 

Matthew Davis (Warner Huntington III)

Let’s all say it - Warner was one of the biggest jerks in cinema history, and he was played by Matthew Davis. Since his role in Legally Blonde, Davis has mainly kept his talents on television. While he has appeared in movies like Into the Sun, S. Darko and more, his biggest role thus far has been as a part of The Vampire Diaries universe. 

For several years, he has played Alaric Saltzman. The character first appeared on The Vampire Diaries, and then on The Originals, and is currently on Legacies. He’s also had a main role on the show What About Brian, as well as recurring roles on shows like Damages, Cult, and even CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. 

Victor Garber (Professor Callahan)

There’s also that professor who seems like he's a good guy, but it turns out he's completely not, and that was the disgusting Professor Callahan, played by the (not disgusting) Victor Garber. He's been active in both movies and TV for some time. 

Garber has appeared in films like Milk, Take Me Home, Argo, Sicario, the Hulu original movie, Happiest Season, and more. On television, he portrayed Jack Bristow in Alias for several years, Oliver Roth on ReGenesis, Jordan Wethersby on Eli Stone, Simon Stern in Power, Martin Stein in The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow, Admiral Halsey in The Orville, and had several guest roles that are too numerous to put here. 

Jennifer Coolidge (Paulette Bonafonte)

Raise your hands if Paulette was one of your favorite characters (*raises hand). Truly, a legend, and only a legend would be played by the legendary Jennifer Coolidge. Since her role in Legally Blonde, Coolidge has been at the top of her game, appearing in hilarious movies and amazing TV shows. 

Some of her biggest hits besides Legally Blonde 2 have been A Cinderella Story, Mascots, For Your Consideration, Promising Young Woman, the Netflix original movie, Single All the Way, and as part of the American Pie cast. And, from what Reese Witherspoon told The Hollywood Reporter, she’s also set to come back in Legally Blonde 3.

Coolidge has had some major roles on TV shows, like the sitcom Joey, the drama The Secret Life of the American Teenager, and 2 Broke Girls. As of 2021, she was a part of The White Lotus cast, which has been brought back as an anthology series for HBO. She’s also had a pretty great career in voice-acting, with some of her highlights being the Disney Channel original shows Fish Hooks and Gravity Falls. 

Holland Taylor (Professor Elspeth Stromwell)

Another character that I think we all grew to like, Professor Stromwell was a tough-as-nails professor who truly cared about her students succeeding, and that included Elle Woods. Holland Taylor, who played the professor in Legally Blonde, is another actress who has been in the business for a while. 

Taylor’s appeared in a couple of the Spy-Kids films, as well as other big hits like Bombshell, To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You, Bill & Ted Face the Music, The Stand In, and many others.

On television, you might have seen her in the hit sitcom, Two and a Half Men, where she played Evelyn Harper for the series’ full run. She also voiced Ruth Orwell in Electric City, played Ida Silver on Mr. Mercedes, portrayed Ellen Kincaid in Hollywood, played Professor Joan Hambling on The Chair, and has a recurring role on The Morning Show. Alongside all these big roles, she’s had plenty of guest appearances, as well.  

Ali Larter (Brooke Taylor-Windham)

Next up, we have Brooke, who was the main client (and former sorority sister) that Elle was defending in Legally Blonde. Brooke was played by Ali Larter, who has appeared in a variety of movies and TV shows. Some of her biggest hits include The Resident Evil franchise as Claire Redfield, Obsessed, Lovesick, and others. 

Her biggest role thus far was playing the characters Niki/Jessica/Gina Sanders on the NBC hit, Heroes. After that, she would have main roles in shows like Legends and Pitch, as well as guest spots on many other TV programs. She’s also had a recurring role in the police procedural series, The Rookie, playing Dr. Grace Sawyer.  

Jessica Cauffiel (Margot)

Margot was one of Elle’s best friends in Legally Blonde, and she was played by Jessica Cauffiel. After appearing in the comedy and its sequel, Cauffiel had some appearances in other memorable comedies, like White Chicks and Hoot. 

She also had recurring roles on The Drew Carey Show and My Name is Earl. While she did take a break from acting for a bit to focus on producing and writing for a little while, like for the documentary, Master, hopefully she can return as Margot in Legally Blonde 3.

Alanna Ubach (Serena McGuire)

The second half of Elle's best friends in Legally Blonde was Serena, who was played by Alanna Ubach. The actress has appeared in a number of movies, including Meet the Fockers, Bad Teacher, the Netflix film To the Bone, the Pixar animated movie, Coco (as Mama Imelda), Bombshell, and more, though a big focus has been television and her voice work. 

Since 2001, Ubach has worked on several animated shows, such as Team Supremo, Ozzy & Drix, Brandy & Mr. Whiskers, Higglytown Heroes, El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera, Pound Puppies, Mad, Monsters at Work, and more. She’s also appeared on shows such as Euphoria, The West Wing, Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce, Californication, and many more. 

Francesca P. Roberts (Judge Marina R. Bickford)

While Judge Marina wasn’t in Legally Blonde for long, she made an impact with her character and attitude in the court battle. The judge was played by Francesca P. Roberts, who has had a great career in television since her appearance in Legally Blonde. 

She’s appeared on shows like Empire, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Shameless, Law & Order: LA, Boston Legal, Big Shots, Judging Amy, Grey’s Anatomy, and many others. She has appeared in smaller films, but TV is where it’s really at for Roberts. 

Oz Perkins (David Kidney)

David is another one of those characters where you never quite forget this face and personality, and his interactions with Elle were always the best in Legally Blonde. Oz Perkins portrayed David in Legally Blonde, and has been active in the movie and TV industry both on and off the screen. 

Some of his acting roles have included the movies La Cucina, Secretary, Electric Slide, and others. His TV roles are mainly guest roles on shows like the recently rebooted The Twilight Zone, October Road, Alias, and more. He has, however, directed and produced many fun thriller and horror movies, like Gretel & Hansel, I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House and more. 

Linda Cardellini (Chutney Windham)

Last but not least, we have the perm queen herself, Chutney Windham, played by Linda Cardellini, a queen of Hollywood, in my opinion. Since her appearance, Cardellini has appeared in films like the Scooby-Doo franchise as Velma, the Avengers franchise as Laura Barton, Brokeback Mountain, Green Book, the Daddy’s Home series, A Simple Favor alongside Blake Lively, The Curse of La Llorona, Capone, and many others. 

Cardellini has worked on a variety of shows, both live-action and animated. With voice roles, she’s had main parts in shows like Regular Show, Gravity Falls, Sanjay and Craig, and more. One of her biggest on-screen roles was in ER, where she played Samantha Taggart. She had a recurring role as Abby Day on New Girl, played Meg Rayburn on Bloodline, and currently plays Judy Hale on Netflix's Dead to Me. 

Recently, she also appeared as Laura Barton again recently, but this time in the Hawkeye TV series on Disney+. 

All these stars, and so much to watch. Now, if only Legally Blonde 3 could come out soon, I’d be happy.  

When it comes to zombie films, there are few that often stray from the simple course of survivors just needing to survive, shooting zombies and somehow staying alive. While there have been a couple that have sort of reinvented the zombie franchise in the last couple of years, such as Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead, only one film series stands out to me among the rest, and that’s Zombieland, and its successor, Zombieland: Double Tap.

The wonderful combination of gore and hilarious jokes, plus the superb acting from the Zombieland and Zombieland: Double Tap cast made these films so much fun to watch, and became a wonderful addition to the world of zombie-comedy films, like Shaun of the Dead. But with casts as star-studded as some of these, where have they been seen before and what have they done, like Emma Stone? Are any of them going to be in the upcoming 2021 movies or 2022 movies? Luckily, we have that covered for you if you were a fan of these two great zombie films.

Woody Harrelson (Tallahassee)

Tallahassee is the kind of survivor we would all want as our partner in a zombie apocalypse, and was a great partner to Columbus in Zombieland and Zombieland: Double-Tap. Woody Harrelson portrayed the wise-cracking zombie killer and has been plenty busy since his zombie killing days.

From 2012 until 2016, Woody Harrelson portrayed Haymitch Abernathy in The Hunger Games movies. Afterwards, he would go on to have starring roles in hit films such as the coming-of-age film, The Edge of Seventeen, the action film, War for the Planet of the Apes, the space-western, Solo: A Star Wars Story, the anti-hero film, Venom, the war film, Midway, and several others. He also starred in True Detective for its first season in 2014.

In the next couple of years, Harrelson will be appearing in several films, like Venom: Let There Be Carnage, where he will reprise his role. He will also be appearing in films currently in production, called Triangle of Sadness and The Man from Toronto.

Harrelson will also be in two upcoming TV series, one called The White House Plumbers and the other called The Most Dangerous Man in America. There’s truly no stopping this awesome actor.

Jesse Eisenberg (Columbus)

Columbus is a nerd - but he’s a surviving nerd and that’s all that matters in the rules of Zombieland and Zombieland: Double Tap. Jesse Eisenberg played Columbus in both films, and has been on a roll since his time in the zombie world.

Jesse Eisenberg went on to play Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network, Blu in the Rio animated film series, and have a starring role in the heist series, Now You See Me, with a third film on the way. Eisenberg also portrayed the iconic DC villain, Lex Luthor, in both Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and in the two Justice Leagues that released afterwards. In 2021, Eisenberg also had a role in the thriller film, Wild Indian.

In the upcoming years, he will have a role in several films, one titled The Medusa, and another titled Manodrome, so keep an eye out for this talented star.

Emma Stone (Wichita)

Wichita in both Zombieland and Zombieland: Double Tap is the epitome of what a badass girl should look like and be in the zombie world, and is a character I will always love to root for. Emma Stone, in one of her earlier roles, portrayed Wichita perfectly, and since then, she’s gone on to have quite the career.

Stone won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in the musical La La Land in 2016, certifying her amazing acting skills. Besides that, Stone has been in plenty of critically acclaimed and well-received films, such as the comedy film, Easy A, the historical film, The Help, playing Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man films, starring in the Academy-Award-nominated Birdman and The Favourite, played the titular character in the Disney live-action film Cruella, and so many more. She was also a star in the Netflix miniseries, Maniac, alongside Jonah Hill.

Coming up, she will be appearing in a new film titled Poor Things, and a TV series called The Curse. With how much she’s done in the last decade, I can’t wait to see what she does next.

Abigail Breslin (Little Rock)

As the last of the original cast to appear in both films, Little Rock was adorably badass in Zombieland, and managed to keep some of her original character in Zombieland: Double Tap. Abigail Breslin portrayed the younger sister to Wichita both times.

Breslin has been in many different genres of film since her time in the zombie world. She was in the animated film, Rango, the sci-fi movie, Ender’s Game, starred alongside Matt Damon in 2021’s Stillwater, and several others. One of her biggest roles thus far was playing Libby Putney in Ryan Murphy’s Scream Queens for two seasons.

Coming up, Abigail Breslin will be in a couple of films, Slayers and Saturday at the Starlight, so she’s sure to pop up in movies theaters soon.

Bill Murray (Himself)

While Bill Murray didn’t play an original character in Zombieland, his fictionalized version of himself will always make me hold my sides in laughter every time I watch. Bill Murray has been active in Hollywood for decades now, and that hasn't changed ay all, because he's filmed plenty of movies since Zombieland's release.

Since his appearance in Zombieland, Murray has been in several big films, such as Moonrise Kingdom, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Dumb and Dumber To, the Wes Anderson film, Isle of Dogs, the zombie film, The Dead Don’t Die, and many others. Coming up this year, he will be appearing in both the new Ghostbusters: Afterlife film, and have a role in the anticipated The French Dispatch, so it seems that 2021 is going to be Bill Murray’s year.

Rosario Dawson (Nevada)

As the first character who only appeared in Zombieland: Double Tap, Nevada was a great character to introduce to the sequel, and her Elvis-themed hotel was to die for. Rosario Dawson, who played Nevada in the film, has been acting in Hollywood for some time, and only continues to do so.

You might have seen her hits like the comedy, Zookeeper, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, The Water Man and more. She’s also continuously voiced Diana Prince, otherwise known as Wonder Woman, in several DC animated films and TV shows - including 2021’s Space Jam: A New Legacy.

Dawson also had a major role in Netflix’s Defender’s universe, where she played Claire Temple in Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and The Defenders series. She also had a recurring role in the cast of Jane the Virgin.

Recently, she took the playing the live-action version of Ahsoka Tano in Disney+’s The Mandalorian, and will continue to play the character in the upcoming spinoff, titled Ahsoka. She will also be in a couple new films, titled Clerks III and Speed of Light, as well as another new miniseries called DMZ.

Zoey Deutch (Madison)

I mean, I think all of us loved and hated Madison in Zombieland: Double Tap, but that doesn’t mean that Zoey Deutch wasn’t a great actress to pick for the role.

Deutch has appeared in several different movies, namely the fantasy film, Beautiful Creatures, the teen fantasy movie, Vampire Academy, the teen drama film, Before I Fall, the biographical film, The Disaster Artist, and more. Zoey Deutch also had a main role on the Netflix series, The Politician.

In the next couple of years, Deutch will be in a few new films, titled The Outfit, Not Okay, and Hound, so hopefully we will get to see more of this talented actress.

Luke Wilson (Albuquerque)

Albuquerque is basically Tallahassee except a bit younger and I am all here for it, because he brought some great comedy to Zombieland: Double Tap. Only a star like Luke Wilson could play someone like him perfectly, and it’s no surprise that he’s been busy in Hollywood just like the rest of his co-stars.

Wilson has appeared in plenty of hits during his time as an actor, including The Legally Blonde movies, the Netflix original film, The Ridiculous 6, The Goldfinch, another Netflix original film, All the Bright Places, 12 Mighty Orphans and more. Recently, Wilson has taken on a role in the Disney+ original series, Stargirl, and will continue that into its next season.

Wilson will also be in several new films, including Gasoline Alley alongside Bruce Willis, The Cleaner, and Plus/Minus. He will also be in an upcoming TV series titled New-Gen.

Avan Jogia (Berkeley)

Oh, Berkeley. You gotta love him and hate him at the same time. I mean, who has ever heard of a pacifist in a zombie apocalypse? But that’s who he was in Zombieland: Double Tap, played by the wonderful Avan Jogia, who has been around for some time.

Jogia has mainly kept his career towards TV during his time in Hollywood. He grew in fame when he had a main role on the Nickelodeon show, Victorious, as Beck, and continued to star in several other shows after it ended. Avan Jogia had the lead role in the teen drama mystery series, Twisted, the lead role in the miniseries, Tut, the lead role in the SyFy series, Ghost Wars, the lead role in comedy TV series, Now Apocalypse, and part of the main cast in The Stranger on Quibi.

In 2021, he is going to be playing legendary video game character Leon S. Kennedy in the upcoming adaptation, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, and have a role in a film titled Door Mouse. With a resume that packed with TV work, I hope that he takes that talent to film more and we get to see him on the big screen soon.

Thomas Middleditch (Flagstaff)

Flagstaff is a mirror of Columbus in Zombieland: Double Tap, and has plenty of commandments for survival just as Columbus does. Thomas Middleditch, who played Flagstaff, did a great job of mirroring those same traits of Columbus and creating some funny moments.

Middleditch has appeared in several films, such as the sports comedy, The Bronze, the comedy film, Tag, the monster film, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and had voice role in Disney+’s original film, Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe.

However, Middleditch has been also super active in TV as well. He had one of the main roles in popular comedy series, Silicon Valley, and went on to voice and write for Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero. Currently, he is voicing a main role in Solar Opposites, an adult animated sitcom made by the Rick and Morty creators, and has a role in the sitcom, B Positive on CBS.

These two roles will likely continue into the next couple of years, so if you’re a fan of this talented and funny actor, be sure to check out his latest TV series.

With how much these big stars have done, there’s no surprise that you’ve most likely seen them in some way or another throughout their years in the industry. Maybe if there’s a possible Zombieland 3 we might get to see them all together again, but if not, I’ll have to tune in to whey they’re all doing next.

Siblings who live together are not uncommon, but celebrity siblings who work in essentially competing franchises are a different matter. Luke Wilson, who stars as Pat Dugan in DC’s Stargirl, recently opened up about what it was like living with older brother Owen Wilson while he was filming Marvel's Loki as a character by the name of Mobius.

With Luke and Owen Wilson both starring in their respective superhero TV shows filming in Atlanta, the Stargirl actor revealed to TVLine that they lived together. Luke Wilson shared what the experience was like as a DC actor living with his MCU brother:

The brothers were working on their separate superhero shows at the same time so it’s nice knowing that the two of them were able to live together and see how the other lives. Working on a DC project while your brother works on Marvel could theoretically start any argument at a family reunion, but it sounds like the brothers had a good time with it while it lasted. Luke Wilson praised his brother and Loki’s success, knowing how much Owen Wilson enjoyed working on the Disney+ series:

While Loki finished airing its first season earlier this month, Stargirl hasn’t even premiered yet for its second season, as the first episode of Season 2 airs in August. Though that didn’t stop The CW from giving it an early renewal back in May for a third season. The superhero series originally debuted on streaming platform DC Universe, with episodes airing on The CW the following day. The network then renewed Stargirl, making it one of the multiple shows to be moved off DC Universe and onto a different platform.

It would be interesting to get Owen Wilson’s side of the story, considering his brother said that Marvel people are “odd.” But it’s great seeing that the two of them are as close as ever, despite being in competing franchises. Who knows? Maybe the two can make an appearance in the other’s show. One can dream.

This February marked the 18th anniversary of Old School, Todd Phillips' back-to-school sophomoric comedy that propelled the film careers of its three lead stars, Luke Wilson, Vince Vaughn, and Will Ferrell. Co-starring a variety of future celebrities, including Jeremy Piven, Ellen Pompeo, and Simon Helberg, this raunchy romp was met with mixed reviews and a modest box office intake, but it found a loving audience, becoming one of the most quoted movies of the early '00s. Now that nearly two decades have passed since its theatrical rollout, what's the Old School cast doing now? Let's find out!

Luke Wilson (Mitch “The Godfather” Martin)

As Mitch Martin, i.e. "The Godfather," a lovelorn 30-something who moves into Beanie's frat house after his girlfriend cheats on him, Luke Wilson plays our hapless lead character in Old School. Most notably, Wilson played Anthony Adams in Bottle Rocket, Richie Tenenbaum in The Royal Tenenbaums, and Emmett Richmond in the Legally Blonde movies. Additionally, he starred in Home Fries, The Family Stone, My Super Ex-Girlfriend, and Idiocracy. His other notable film credits include My Dog Skip, Charlie's Angels (2000), Blades of Glory, 3:10 to Yuma, and Death at a Funeral (2010). Also, he appeared in Anchorman, Brad's Status, and Zombieland: Double Tap. Most recently, the actor was seen in Netflix's All the Bright Places and heard in Bobbleheads: The Movie.

Additionally, on television, Luke Wilson starred in short-lived shows like Roadies and Enlightened. Currently, he plays Pat Dugan, i.e. S.T.R.I.P.E., in The CW's Stargirl. Next, Wilson will be seen in 12 Mighty Orphans and The Cleaner. Right now, the actor is filming a role in Gasoline Alley. Also, Wilson will be heard in the animated series, New-Gen. Will Ferrell (Frank “The Tank” Ricard)

In the role of Frank "The Tank" Ricard, a domesticated man who puts a strain on his recent marriage when he returns to his hard-partying ways, Will Ferrell played a memorable character in 2003's Old School. Making a name for himself as a standout performer on Saturday Night Live, Ferrell became a movie star through his lead performances in Anchorman 1 & 2, Elf, Talledega Nights, Blades of Glory, Step Brothers, The Other Guys, Daddy's Home 1 & 2, and Stranger Than Fiction, to name only a few.

Most recently, Will Ferrell starred in Downhill and Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga, which he co-wrote and produced. Also, the A-list comedian appeared in Impractical Jokers: The Movie and the short film, David. Next, he'll star in Apple TV+'s The Shrink Next Door. Additionally, Ferrell is expected to star in The Prince of Fashion, Fruitcake, Christmas Carol, and an untitled eSports comedy. Meanwhile, as a producer, Ferrell is attached to several projects, including Tig Notaro's directorial debut, Am I Ok?

Vince Vaughn (Bernard “Beanie” Campbell)

Playing the part of Bernard "Beanie" Campbell, who turns his house into a fraternity to stay compliant with the university rules, Vince Vaughn starred in Old School. Following his breakout performance as Trent Walker in Swingers, Vaughn found fame with his lead performances in Wedding Crashers, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, and The Break-Up. Additionally, Vaughn was well-liked for his supporting turns in Anchorman, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, and The Lost World: Jurassic Park. His other notable post-Old School film credits include Hacksaw Ridge, Into the Wild, and Todd Phillips' Starsky & Hutch.

More recently, Vince Vaughn starred in genre films like Brawl in Cell Block 99, Dragged Across Concrete, and last year's Freaky. His other recent film credits include Arkansas and Hulu's The Binge. Outside of film, Vaughn was seen in True Detective Season 2 and heard in F is for Family. Coming up next, the actor will appear in North Hollywood and Queenpins. Jeremy Piven (Dean Gordon “Cheese” Pritchard)

As Dean Gordon Pritchard, i.e. "Cheese," an old classmate who's out for revenge, Jeremy Piven plays the primary antagonist in Old School. Most notably, Piven is known for his three-time Emmy-winning performance as Ari Gold in HBO's Entourage. Later, the actor reprised this role in the 2015 big screen continuation. His other notable television roles include Mr. Selfridge, Ellen, The Larry Sanders Show, and Seinfeld.

Additionally, on the big screen, Jeremy Piven played the lead role of Don Ready in The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard. He also starred in Keeping Up with the Steins, PCU, and I Melt With You. His other notable film credits include supporting turns in Scary Movie 3, RocknRolla, The Grifters, Say Anything, Black Hawk Down, and Grosse Point Blank. Additionally, Piven played standout characters like Damon Schmidt in The Kingdom and Michael Berkow in Very Bad Things. Most recently, Piven starred in Last Call. Ellen Pompeo (Nicole)

In the role of Nicole, Mitch's high school crush who reconnects with our lead character, Ellen Pompeo plays a romantic character in Todd Phillips' Old School. Most notably, Pompeo is known for her long-standing title role as Dr. Meredith Grey in ABC's Grey's Anatomy. She also played this part in Station 19. Additionally, she's seen in Friends, Law & Order, and Strangers with Candy. Outside of television, Pompeo appears in Catch Me If You Can, Daredevil, and Moonlight Mile. She also starred in Art Heist and Life of the Party (2005). Currently, Pompeo can be seen in the latest season of Grey's Anatomy.

Perrey Reeves (Marissa Jones)

Playing the part of Marissa Jones, Frank's concerned wife, Perrey Reeves plays a stern supporting character in 2003's Old School. Most notably, Reeves reunited with Old School co-star Jeremy Piven to play Melissa Gold in Entourage. She reprised this role in the movie continuation. Her other TV credits include Covert Affairs, Famous in Love, Private Practice, and Grey's Anatomy. Additionally, on the big screen, Reeves appears in Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Child's Play 3, Kicking & Screaming (1995), Plus One, and Smoke Signals. Most recently, she was seen in Cosmic Sin and Amazon Prime's Paradise City.

Juliette Lewis (Heidi)

As Heidi, Mitch's girlfriend, Juliette Lewis plays a randy supporting character in Old School. Previously, Lewis scored an Oscar nomination for her supporting turn in Cape Fear. She also received an Emmy nomination for My Lousiana Sky. Most notably, Lewis is known for National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation and Natural Born Killers. Her other film credits include Kalifornia, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, From Dusk Till Dawn, Whip It, August: Osage County, Conviction, Strange Days, and Husbands and Wives.

Additionally, Juliette Lewis starred in The Other Sister and appeared in Starsky & Hutch, Mixed Nuts, Cold Creek Manor, Nerve, Due Date, Ma, and Jem and the Holograms. Earlier this year, Lewis was seen in Music, Breaking News in Yuba County, and Mayday, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. On TV, the actress is seen in Secrets & Lies, Camping, and Wayward Pines. Next, Lewis will star in Showtime's Yellowjackets.

Leah Remini (Lara Campbell)

In the role of Lara Campbell, one of Marissa's friends, Leah Remini plays a sarcastic supporting character in 2003's Old School. Most notably, Remini is known for playing Carrie Heffernan in CBS's The King of Queens. She reunited with Kevin James for CBS's Kevin Can Wait. She can also be seen in Saved by the Bell, Cheers, and The Talk, where she co-hosted. Additionally, Remini hosted the documentary series, Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath, which resulted in two Emmy wins. Also, the actress frontlined the reality TV series, Leah Remini: It's All Relative. Furthermore, outside of television, Remini appears in Mad Families, The Clapper, Handsome, and Second Act.

Currently, Leah Remini is the host of the podcast, Scientology: Fair Game, which she started in July 2020. Also, the actress hosts Game Show Network's People Puzzler.

Elisha Cuthbert (Darcie Goldberg)

Playing the part of Darcie Goldberg, Mitch's no-nonsense one-night-stand, Elisha Cuthbert has a prominent role in Old School. Most notably, Cuthbert starred in The Girl Next Door. She's also known for her performances in House of Wax (2005), Love Actually, Captivity, The Quiet, and He Was a Quiet Man. Additionally, Cuthbert's recent film credits include Goon: Last of the Enforcers, Just Before I Go, and My Sassy Girl.

Outside of film, Elisha Cuthbert played main roles in Nickelodeon's Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Fox's 24, and ABC's Happy Endings. Additionally, she played a lead part in NBC's short-lived sitcom, One Big Happy. More recently, Cuthbert was in the main cast of Netflix's The Ranch. Furthermore, she had a recurring role in ABC's The Forgotten and she was a host on Global TV's Popular Mechanics for Kids. Next, Cuthbert appears in Eat Wheaties! The actress will also star in the Ireland-based horror movie, The Cellar.

Simon Helberg (Jerry)

As Jerry, Simon Helberg received one of his first high-profile roles in Old School. Most notably, the actor played Howard Wolowitz in CBS's long-running sitcom, The Big Bang Theory. His other notable TV credits include MADtv, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, and Derek and Simon, which he co-created and produced. Furthermore, as a voice actor, Helberg can be heard in Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness, Kick Buttowski: Suburban Daredevil, and The Tom and Jerry Show.

Outside of TV, Simon Helberg is best known for his supporting performances in Florence Foster Jenkins and A Serious Man. He also appeared in Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, Good Night and Good Luck, A Cinderella Story, and Van Wilder. Additionally, Helberg starred in, wrote, and co-directed We'll Never Have Paris. Seann William Scott (Peppers)

In the role of Peppers, Seann William Scott had a standout cameo in Old School. Previously, Scott appeared in Todd Phillips' Road Trip. Most notably, the actor played Steve Stifler in the American Pie franchise. Seann William Scott also stars in the Goon movies. Elsewhere, he's recognized for his lead performances in Dude, Where's My Car?, Mr. Woodcock, Evolution, and Bulletproof Monk. Furthermore, the comedic actor played Travis Walker in The Rundown, Bo Duke in The Dukes of Hazzard, and Wheeler in Role Models. His other film credits include Final Destination, Cop Out, and Southland Tales.

Craig Kilborn (Mark)

Playing the part of Mark, Nicole's boyfriend, Craig Kilborn plays a combative character in Old School. Most notably, Kilborn hosted The Daily Show and The Late Late Show. He also appeared on SportsCenter and hosted The Kilborn File. Additionally, in film, Kilborn can be seen in The Benchwarmers, The Shaggy Dog (2006), Full of It, and The Bronze. Most recently, Kilborn guest-starred in an episode of ABC's short-lived United We Fall.

Patrick J. Adams (Patch)

Taking on the role of Patch, Patrick J. Adams made his film debut in 2003's Old School. Most notably, Adams is known for his leading role as Mike Ross in the first seven seasons of USA Network's Suits. His other television credits include Orphan Black, Pillow Talk, Sneaky Pete, Rosemary's Baby, and Friday Night Lights. Additionally, in film, Adams appeared in Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, Christmas in Boston, Rage, Weather Girl, Clara, and Room for Rent. Most recently, the actor starred in Disney+'s The Right Stuff. Furthermore, Adams can be heard in the animated series, Pandemica.

Throughout the year, Elle Woods has quietly been preparing for her next case in Legally Blonde 3, set for release in 2022. So far we know that Reese Witherspoon will be back to bend and snap in hot pink for the long-awaited sequel, but we’ve yet to hear word about her partner-in-crime Bruiser or husband Emmett, the latter played by Luke Wilson in the original films. It’s been almost 20 years since we’ve caught up with the couple, so will the happy couple will return?

At the end of Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde, Elle and Emmett tied the knot in Washington D.C. with an open-ended decision to make regarding where they’d plant themselves and begin their life together. Luke Wilson sounds like he’s excited and interested in the sequel, but he has yet to be cast in the movie. In the Stargirl actor’s words to Us Magazine:

Well this is interesting. During Luke Wilson’s interview, the 49-year-old admitted that he doesn’t know anymore than we do about Legally Blonde 3. He knows it's in the works at MGM Studios and who’s involved this far, but he cannot confirm that he’s going to be a part of it. It’s definitely not the answer we were hoping for, but hey, I still think there’s still a big chance Luke Wilson finds his way in the movie either way. It just wouldn’t be the same without him, even if Emmett and Elle didn’t stick together.

Luke Wilson recently reunited with Reese Witherspoon and much of the Legally Blonde cast back in October during a Zoom call to celebrate the original film’s continued legacy and raise money for the Chefs For America Initiative. They were joined by Selma Blair, Jennifer Coolidge, Ali Larter, Holland Taylor and Matt Davis, and raised nearly $23,000 in light of the COVID-19 crisis. Other famous casts, such as the Father of the Bride family, also came together this year for the same reasons.

Considering Luke Wilson is still in touch with and good terms with Reese Witherspoon, and interested in Legally Blonde 3, why wouldn’t he return? What remains to be known is what story is in store for Elle Woods. The script is being cooked up by The Mindy Project creator Mindy Kaling and Brooklyn Nine-Nine creator Dan Goor.

Spoilers ahead for Episode 11 of Stargirl Season 1, "Shining Knight."

The stakes are higher than ever on Stargirl as the first season approaches its end. "Shining Knight" proved that the danger isn't over just because the bad guys claimed the life of one kid who got in their way. The Whitmore/Dugan family is in very real danger thanks to Brainwave knowing Courtney's secret, Jordan Mahkent turning on Barbara, a plan in motion to brainwash half the country, and whatever the Dragon King has planned. Only two episodes are left in Season 1, but actor Luke Wilson has fortunately already weighed in on what the first season ending means for Season 2.

Stargirl was already renewed for a second season well ahead of the Season 1 finale in August, and Luke Wilson revealed to Collider that "the end is not the end" and the season wraps on "kind of like a cliffhanger," then said:

While Luke Wilson of course didn't spoil what exactly Season 1 is building to, what the climax will entail, or what's in store for him as Pat Dugan, his comments do reveal that Courtney and Co. won't have left Blue Valley by the time the final credits roll before hiatus. Apparently, the villains of Season 1 won't be fully vanquished either if they're still "in that town," so there's good news and bad news! Courtney won't have been driven out of Blue Valley, but neither were the bad guys.

That said, there are several bad guys at this point in Season 1, so I for one wouldn't be shocked if one or two of them is down for the count by the end of the finale. Brainwave deserves some punishment for brutally killing his own son, and of course Icicle and Dragon King have been built up as baddies, not to mention whatever happens next with Cindy. Is one of these villains the big bad of the series, who will last for as long as Courtney does? Or does Stargirl not plan on featuring a big bad, a la Reverse-Flash over on The Flash?

Luke Wilson also revealed that creator Geoff Johns was already planning Season 2 while Season 1 was still in production, with a "big writing board" filled with notes, numbers, names, and plot points. The show will release with one big difference when it returns, as the first season released episodes first on DC Universe before they broadcasted on The CW. Stargirl will be fully moving to The CW for Season 2.

The full move to The CW doesn't necessarily mean that Stargirl will cross over into the Arrowverse at all, even if Courtney did get a cameo at the end of the Arrowverse's mega "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover event earlier in 2020. Stargirl is poised to potentially introduce its own Green Arrow, after all! For now, Stargirl fans can only hope that the Season 1 finale cliffhanger won't lead to too long of a hiatus! The majority of The CW's current lineup of shows are already delayed into 2021.

Brush up on your bend and snap, because Legally Blonde 3 is really happening. The long-awaited threequel was announced back in 2018, but the movie just recently hired new writers and it’s finally moving forward. It’s been nearly two decades since we last caught up with Reese Witherspoon’s Elle Woods on the big screen and we can’t wait to see how the Big Little Lies actress approaches the role in today’s world or how scriptwriters Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor will forward her narrative.

Of course Legally Blonde is a modern classic about a preppy sorority girl who enrolls into her ex-boyfriend’s college, Harvard Law School (what, like it’s hard?). Elle Woods is judged by her peers for her hot pink ensembles and “blonde behavior,” but she ends up soaring to the top of her class and single-handedly solving a high-profile case as an intern. The hit comedy was followed by 2003’s Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde where Elle tackled outlawing animal testing laws in Washington D.C. on behalf of her pup Bruiser’s mom. Where Does The Story Pick Up?

Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde took Elle Woods to the state capitol to bring “Bruiser’s Bill” to the House of Representatives floor, where she successfully fights against the cruel animal testing of the fictional C'est Magnifique Corporation and marries Luke Wilson’s Emmett in a park in D.C. At the end of the 2003 film, her new husband asks her what’s next for the couple – Beverly Hills? Back to Boston? Elle implies the White House is next on her mind and that’s the last we’ve heard of the iconic character.

Legally Blonde is likely to be set in present day, almost 20 years after the events of Red, White & Blonde. Reese Witherspoon is now in her 40s – how will Elle Woods’ life be different in the third film? She could be tackling another big case close to her heart, running for office or in need of a comeback to her lawyer roots? There’s a ton of exciting directions Legally Blonde 3 could go.

Mindy Kaling Is Co-Writing The Script, Will She Also Have A Role?

The Office’s Mindy Kaling is penning the script for Legally Blonde 3 with Brooklyn Nine-Nine creator Dan Goor (who has also had a hand in The Daily Show, Late Night with Conan O’ Brien and Parks and Recreation). It’s an inspired writing team Legally Blonde 3 has under their belt, with an impressive track record for solid comedy. It helps that Kaling’s breakout role as Kelly Kapoor in The Office was kind of an Elle Woods type. She even has one of her outfits handy:

Kaling is no stranger to finding roles in her own writing projects. For years she wrote and produced her show The Mindy Project and she starred alongside Emma Thompson in 2019’s Late Night, her first feature film that she ever wrote. Kaling and Reese Witherspoon previously shared the screen together for 2018’s A Wrinkle In Time too. The chances seem likely, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Is Luke Wilson Returning As Emmett?

We don’t have many details about Legally Blonde 3’s casting yet, but one major question on our minds is if Luke Wilson’s role will continue into the third film. The actor stayed on for both movies so far and has continued to remain busy as an actor on recent projects such as in Zombieland: Double Tap, All the Bright Places and as Pat Dugan in the new CW series Stargirl.

His presence or absence in the film could indicate whether Elle Woods has remained married for the past couple decades or could she have a new man in her life? No man? Either way we’re on board for Legally Blonde 3, but it would please a lot of fans to see Wilson’s Emmett find a place in the upcoming film.

What Other Original Cast Members Will Join Legally Blonde 3?

Looking back at the cast of the Legally Blonde movies, there was a lot of star-studded talent involved – Jennifer Coolidge, Selma Blair, Linda Cardellini, Sally Field, Regina King, etc. It would be a treat to see some of them join Legally Blonde. Back in 2019, Jennifer Coolidge said she'd love to play Paulette again, so here's hoping that happens.

It would also be fun if the movie played homage to the original film by giving someone like Selma Blair a continued role in the movie. Considering Reese Witherspoon’s status in Hollywood today, we’d imagine Legally Blonde will be stacked with big names. Frequent co-star Laura Dern would be a great addition or her Little Fires Everywhere partner Kerry Washington? A Wrinkle In Time’s Oprah? Who knows!

When Will Legally Blonde 3 Start Filming?

From what we can gather, Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor have just signed on to write Legally Blonde 3. The movie has technically been in development for almost two years, but it seemed to have faced some behind-the-scenes setbacks since its original writers Kirsten "Kiwi" Smith and Karen McCullah (who were behind the original movie and other female-led comedies like The House Bunny and She’s the Man) left the project.

Hollywood is predominantly at a stand still as far as productions are concerned, but the late months of the year could open up for Legally Blonde 3 if a script quickly goes through the writing process. Our best guess is the film could be eyeing an early 2021 production date.

When Will Legally Blonde 3 Be Released?

It’s too early for Legally Blonde 3 to announce a release date, especially when many movies coming out in 2020 have unclear dates due to global health concerns. The movie was initially set to hit theaters on May 8, 2020 when it was first announced. That date has come and gone and Legally Blonde 3 has a new direction, but this date gives us a look into the studio’s potential strategy.

Legally Blonde 3 may already be looking for a spring or summer release date. The first two films came out in early July. If we’re being optimistic it’ll come out in the middle of 2021, but again with so many calendar shifts from this summer to the next, Legally Blonde 3 may be better off in 2022.

Novels have proven great inspiration for movies, with countless stories from the page being adapted for the silver screen over the years. While books like Harry Potter and Twilight inspire massive franchises, books like Room have been adapted into Award winning films. John Crowley's The Goldfinch is hoping to be the latter category, recently debuting the drama at the Toronto International Film Festival.

I had the chance to see the movie and speak with the cast during my time at TIFF, pulling back the curtain to see a glimpse into adapting the best selling novel into a film. This includes Luke Wilson and Sarah Paulson, who play Theo's father Larry and stepmother Xandra respectively. Wilson had a particularly emotional and manic scene with young actor Oakes Fegley in the movie, and revealed to me that he actually tried to convince John Crowley to take the scene in another direction. As he put it:

Well, that'a surprise. Larry's confrontation with Theo is arguably the character's biggest scene in The Goldfinch, and one that Luke Wilson presumably could sink his teeth into as an actor. But he actually tried to get out of it, presumably because he didn't want to go to such a dark and abusive place.

In The Goldfinch, Theo is sent to live with Larry after his mother dies in a bombing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It's an event that rocks the character's world, and sends him careening to a few different homes. While living with Larry and Xandra, his father spirals down a dark path, eventually taking it out on his son in one of the movie's many tense scenes.

The sequence required Luke Wilson to get to an extremely emotional place, and take it out on the young actor playing his son. Wilson was insecure about it, and eventually spoke to director John Crowley about his concerns.

You can really tell how uncomfortable Luke Wilson was with his big confrontation with Theo. But like a true actor, he channeled those feelings into his performance, creating a more dynamic scene. Although he does wish things turned out better for his character, with Sarah Paulson joking about potential titles for a Larry/Xandra spinoff.

DC Universe’s Stargirl TV show is getting ever closer to its debut. In a sign that it is, DC Universe shared the first look at Brec Bassinger in the title role of Stargirl. Bassinger also shared the image, which debuted Friday night at WonderCon. She is all suited up, and it is a starry sight to see. Check it the photo:

Stargirl’s shimmering costume and the Cosmic Staff are fully aglow. Her costume is replete with the illustration’s eye mask, red gloves, utility belt, and star-filled suit.

The blue is reminiscent of Henry Cavill’s Superman costume in the DC movies. Both are deeper blues, which draws an interesting parallel between the suits.

It is hard to tell if Courtney is going to opt for Stargirl’s red boots. She appears to be wearing shorts, so maybe she will go with ankle boots? Or will it be knee highs? As for the Cosmic Staff, it is incredibly well-rendered, in my opinion, and it looks ready to save lives.

Brec Bassinger posted the first look on Instagram, after it made its debut at DC Universe’s WonderCon. At the panel, DC announced that Stargirl will premiere on its streaming platform in 2020. Other release dates included James Wan’s Swamp Thing (May 31) and Young Justice: Outsiders (July 2). The animated series, Harley Quinn, and Titans Season 2 are set for the fall of 2019.

In case you were wondering or need a refresher, Stargirl will follow high schooler Courtney Whitmore, aka Stargirl. Her teenage life starts like one of the usual ones. However, some radical changes in her home life drastically alter things.

Her mom gets married, and she and Courtney relocate from the bright lights of Los Angeles to Blue Valley, Nebraska. The most significant change happens later, though.

Courtney learns that her new stepdad, Pat (Luke Wilson), had a secret “super” life. He used to be a superhero’s sidekick known as Stripesy. Having found the superhero’s Cosmic Staff, Courtney borrows it. The rest is Stargirl history, as she inspires the next generation.

The reveal of Stargirl’s costume is another major step towards the series’ debut. Four months ago, Joel McHale got cast as -- per DC Universe -- the “courageous” and “confident” Starman. As his known-to-the-world alter ego, Sylvester Pemberton, he is a wealthy socialite. How does he tie into Courtney’s story?

Starman is the superhero that Courtney’s stepdad was sidekick to. Thus, expect some crucial things from him. Joel McHale is set to recur on the series, so it remains to be seen how much action he will have.

Not too long after news broke of Joel McHale’s casting, Hourman and Wildcat were also cast. Given that all of these occurred a few months ago, it is nice to get a visual update on the show. It is coming along!

A precise premiere date for Stargirl has not gotten set yet, so stay tuned. The television show is set to arrive next year in 2020. When it premieres, it will do so on DC Universe.

Earlier this week, Luke Wilson went from actor to hero during a fatal car accident on Tuesday night. After miraculously walking away unscathed by the recent collision, Wilson and professional golfer Bill Haas, who was also in the car, reportedly made a daring effort to rescue a 50-year-old woman who was stuck inside her vehicle. Best of all, they were able to save her in the process.

The story, as reported by TheWrap, is that Luke Wilson, Bill Haas and three other people were in a serious car crash. One person, the driver Mark Gibello, was killed and pronounced dead at the scene, while two others, including Haas, were injured and later reportedly sent to the hospital "in critical condition." This includes the woman reportedly saved by Wilson.

Shortly after the accident occurred Sean Heirigs, a witness on the scene, reports that Haas and Wilson ran to the other vehicle to rescue the trapped woman, whose leg was pinned between somewhere between the dashboard and steering wheel after it had flipped over. Heirigs says that he helped Wilson pull the stranger from her crashed vehicle. Here's what Heirigs told People about the life-saving altercation on the road.

Sean Heirigs also went on to compliment Luke Wilson's calmness and steady-thinking, saying that he was "definitely in control" during this dangerous situation.

As of this reporting, it's unclear what the status of the rescued women is, but Sean Haas was recently released from the hospital-- according to Golf Digest. He'll withdraw from the Genesis Open in order to recover. When Luke Wilson isn't garnering newsbites for reportedly saving people's lives, the Old School star can soon be seen in a few upcoming projects. Namely, he'll appear in Hollow Body, Arizona and Measure of a Man later this year. He'll also soon star in a segment in the anthology film Berlin, I Love You. Currently, the actor is filming a role in The Goldfinch, a forthcoming period drama from Brooklyn director John Crowley, starring Nicole Kidman, Finn Wolfhard, Ansel Elgort and Sarah Paulson, which is set to be released next October.

February has been pretty impressive this year, with theatrical offerings that have defied expectation and made a typically dismal month something fun to behold. But of course, the fun wasn't going to last forever, and Rock Dog is here to prove that yes, some studios still use this month as a dumping ground for sub par product. Nothing about this film feels like it even contains the whisper of a spark of excitement, as the film's disjointed plot and stock characters feel like a flat, lifeless knock off of better animated films that have come before it.

Bodhi (Luke Wilson) is a Tibetan Mastiff who is being groomed to become the defender of a mountain village of wool producing sheep. Yet despite his father (J.K. Simmons) continuing to try and put him on the straight and narrow, Bodhi just can't fight the music within him. As he travels to the big city to make his dream come true, he'll have to avoid the wolf mafia that's trying to capture him, and deal with a less than thrilled musician (Eddie Izzard.)

Picture for a moment you're a writer looking for a new idea, and you've got three kids. One child's watching Sing in their bedroom, while another is watching Kung Fu Panda, with the last child watching a random Pixar movie about parents and their children. If you ducked your head into each room and sampled each movie, then went to writing immediately after seeing those pieces of the films mentioned, you'd have the basis for a script like Rock Dog. Rather than be a film of its own, it is an unholy mash-up of concepts we've seen before, and not even with the slightest bit of effort to make them as charming as the first time we saw them.

You can't really blame the typical all-star celebrity cast, as they're really just doing their jobs in Rock Dog. Luke Wilson is likable enough, and Eddie Izzard actually manages to score the scarce but genuine laughs that this film contains. Also, J.K. Simmons isn't bad as the standard father figure who eventually comes around on his son's dreams. But much like the story, these characters feel written by someone who's seen animated films, and wrote a mere outline of such a film, but forgot to fill in the actual details and depth that would make the film an actual thing.

Most glaring is the fact that for a film that dabbles in comedy and musical elements, Rock Dog manages to be merely mediocre in both areas, as the only respites in the film's song catalog are the few licensed songs they paid to use in the film. Everything is so disjointed and low energy that by time the movie ends, you really only have enough inspiration to write it off in a sentence or two. It's only later, when you start to regain the actual energy of your life essence, that you start to realize just how paralyzing this film's lazy banality. I'd call this film vanilla ice cream to drive the point home, but that's an insult to an actually delicious and entertaining treat.

It's hard to find an audience for Rock Dog, as it's certainly not clever enough to hold the parent's attention, and it's barely entertaining and flashy enough to get the kids to even care. How this film was co-written and directed by a former Pixar collaborator is a mystery, as none of the ingenious spark of that studio's best films made it into this bland and annoying project. If anything, Rock Dog should be taken out to the shed, and serenaded with "The Ballad of Old Yeller," as it's a film that deserves to live on a farm upstate with all of the other failed dog movies that faded into obscurity.

It's been just a couple of days since HBO decided to cancel its heavy and overly masculine music drama Vinyl. In its wake, Showtime has its own music-oriented drama hitting the schedule, this time about the people who make the lights, the sound and all the magic happen during big concerts. Because it's a behind-the-scenes sort of look at life on the road instead of about the making of the music, Roadies has fewer bold personalities. The pilot also has Cameron Crowe's signature charm and hopeful perspective. That outlook leaves us feeling hopeful, too.

To start, Roadies isn't the best pilot I've ever seen---it doesn't even mark among the best I've seen this year. Its cast is charming but the exposition explaining why they have come together to set up for a band called The Staten House Band is clunky at best. There are also boobs shown at the wrong moments and awkward dialogue that doesn't always fit the characters. (We guarantee you'll cringe when some of the roadies make fun of the new guy for having Mumford and Sons on his iPod, no matter that music snobs often say things of this ilk.) Still, pilots aren't the best indication of what is to come, and there's really a lot going for Roadies that indicates the series should be given a chance.

The pilot was created, written and directed by Cameron Crowe and subsequent episodes are connected to the first through a recurring gag that The Staten House Band can't keep an opening band on the bill. This also means that performances from bands like The Head and The Heart and even Lindsay Buckingham are intertwined with the rest of the plot, which is entertaining. The heads of the crew, Bill (Luke Wilson) and Shelli (Carla Gugino), are mostly the two individuals who are responsible for ensuring things run smoothly, while the rest of the crew tries to figure out their place in the team and why they would want to take a hard, low-paying job like being part of a road crew. Imogen Poots, Rafe Spall and Keisha Castle-Hughes also star.

I mostly like that Roadies doesn't play out like most other music shows on TV. Music is infused into the episode in a way that is pleasant but isn't as in-your-face as it is on shows like Glee. The setup for each episode is similar to how HBO's Veep is structured, with an ensemble cast dealing with oddball problems in order to accomplish their day-to-day jobs. Obviously, it's a different professional environment, but this formatting should mean that Roadies should have enough stories to tell for seasons and seasons to come, should it be a good fit for Showtime.

That's still up in the air at this point. While Roadies is an easy, pleasant show to watch and often an amusing one, it hasn't figured out exactly what it wants to be yet. When it's at its best, Roadies is a series that feels genuine instead of edgy. When it's at its worst, it bloviates for the sake of bloviating, simply to look cool to other music fans. It just needs to figure out how to pull more of the former if it wants to stick around over the long haul.

There's no doubt that Luke and Owen Wilson are pretty damned similar, and not just because of the familial resemblance. In fact, an intrepid YouTuber has put together a reel of the numerous similarities that plague the performances of both brothers, and have us asking if Luke and Owen are really two separate people. Judge for yourself by watching the video below.

While the repetition of quirks in dialogue are the first sign of the Wilson brothers sharing a little more of a brain, the similarities don't end there. Take a quick listen to their voices, and you'll hear that Luke has always sounded like a pitched down version of Owen.

Looking through their filmographies, there's some similarities that stand out as well. Take for instance Owen Wilson's hit with Woody Allen, Midnight In Paris. The film tells the story of a writer who's enamored with the 1920's and happens to be able to live in them through some sort of magic happening. Which is funny, considering Luke Wilson had a flop with Rob Reiner's 2003 rom-com Alex and Emma, which involved a writer who was crafting a story set in the 1920's, and happened to be using the character as a surrogate for himself in said story. So is this a coincidence, or is "Luke" making movies that fail, only for "Owen" to pitch them behind the scenes as refined hits?

Of course, the fact still remains that a good part of Owen and Luke Wilson's extensive similarities are chalked up to the fact that the two of them are, in fact, brothers. Growing up together would have exposed them to the same circumstances, as well as similar milestones and environmental factors influencing them in very similar ways as children. Nature and nurture basically conditioned Luke and Owen to be almost identical to each other in every way that counts. So really, all of this "same person" nonsense is just that. Then again, Owen and Luke Wilson are named after Star Wars characters who just happened to be related. Considering both brothers were born before 1977's release of the first film, and identity documents can easily be forged by the right people, this could be more of a conspiracy than we thought.

At the end of the day, we know two things: Luke and Owen Wilson are two different people, and the big factor that sets them apart is that Luke Wilson never made No Escape. While Luke's not perfect, as he has his own skeletons in his closet, like My Super Ex-Girlfriend, he hasn't make that poisonous of a film. You can see Owen Wilson in Zoolander 2, in theaters now, while Luke Wilson has Outlaws and Angels coming out on May 25th.

Given the choice between good-guy Samuel L. Jackson and bad-guy Samuel L. Jackson, I think I prefer the former. But he sure does play a great villain when he wants to. From what we’re shown in the trailer for Meeting Evil, it looks like Jackson’s playing a man whose path you’d be better off avoiding. And Luke Wilson’s character may be learning that lesson the hard way.

Based on a novel by Thomas Berger, Meeting Evil stars Luke Wilson as John, a depressed, recently fired realtor who offers to help a man (Samuel L. Jackson) with his car and ends up caught up in a horrible murder spree which “forces him to question everything about his life, his mode of behavior, and the very nature of evil...” Based on the trailer, it looks like Leslie Bibb plays John’s wife. Bibb's currently starring in ABC's new dramedy GCB, though she has a number of film credits to her name (including Iron Man, in which Jackson also appeared).

Looking at Samuel L. Jackson in the above trailer reminds me of his character in Unbreakable. He has that sort of sinister, manipulative vibe going on. He pulled that off well in the M. Night Shyamalan movie and the same may be the case in Meeting Evil. Based on what we're shown, it may be putting it mildly to say that Jackson's character is causing serious trouble for Luke Wilson's.

On a completely random note, unrelated to any comparisons with other movies, Jackson’s character seems to have a preference for hats. That may be a detail that's irrelevant to the story, but I couldn't help but notice the costume selection there.

Meeting Evil is set to release into theaters on May 4th, but it’s also getting the early release on demand treatment. It’ll be available on iTunes later this month (March 30).

In the movie Middle Men, Luke Wilson plays a character thrust into a bizarre story with even more bizarre characters, but the end result is the birth of not only internet porn, but online commerce as we know it today. Based on the life in times of producer Christopher Mallick in the mid-1990s, Wilson’s character is forced to juggle not only the two drug addicts that invented the system, but the Russian mafia, the FBI, and a massively corrupt lawyer all while trying to maintain a family life back in Texas. Not exactly the easiest of jobs.

I had the opportunity to sit down with Wilson and discuss the film, including potential hesitancy over the film’s subject matter, the atmosphere on set, and what it’s like playing a character based on a man that is standing no more than 20 feet away from you.

When someone hands you a script and says, “This is about the dudes who created internet porn,” is there hesitancy about the subject matter?

Like Paul Allen and Bill Gates? I would love to do something about them! Do I play the little guy or the big guy? No, I mean just for me it sounded like an interesting story and I’ve always been interested in those kind of business related stories where you have somebody like it’s the oil business, the Rockefellers, or the Hunts, or Paul Allen and Bill Gates where one minute these guys are working in their parents’ garage and the next minute their billionaires. Those are always so interesting to read about and how it changes people. So when I got the script all those kind of aspects of it appealed to me, plus the fact that it was based on a real guy. I’d always envied actors who got to play real people or got to do research, I’ve always just had these scripts where, I mean not in a bad way, but it was right on the page. I was never playing a real guy, so to meet the person and spend time around them I felt lucky to get the opportunity to do that.

Does it affect the way you play a character when the real person is there?

It wasn’t like Johnny Depp playing Hunter S. Thompson, you didn’t have someone who walked funny and talked funny. This guy was more of a straight forward business man and in a way that kind of helped me. I just felt like this is a regular guy and he just got into this crazy business and in over his head, where he kind of just got drawn into it incrementally.

Did you guys spend a lot of time together?

Yeah, we spent a ton of time together. I’m not computer savvy and I know nothing about the world of internet porn, but I talked to him and liked being around him and he produced the movie. He was there day in and day out on location. No so much that he would give me advice or it wasn’t like you could imitate this guy, just kind of play him in my own way. But I did respond to the fact that he could be sitting at this table with us and we would be like, “What is it about this guy?” He just seemed like a normal guy, like a business man. So yeah, it was fun to be around him because you could ask him anything about it. It’s not like he was giving me specific tips, although I did take those. It was more about being around him.

Did he tell you some stories that didn’t make it into the script? Did he tell you about the origins of the character s and who they were based on?

A little bit. In an odd way I didn’t want to pry. But there were things I felt like obviously there’s no way this could have been true. There was no killing, I don’t think there was any Russian mobster. But he would certainly tell me different things. I met people certain characters were based on and, again, I’ve never had the opportunity to do that. So that was really cool.

Apparently George Gallo’s catchphrase for this film was “fuck you, keep up.” Is that how he was during the writing process or did that transfer to on set as well?

He actually runs a really nice set and he’s a benevolent dictator. He said that while he was writing it? It makes sense because that’s how the movie rocks along and it makes for an interesting read but then your flipping the pages and saying, “This is a fast paced movie,” but then you see the movie and it’s incredibly fast paced. I don’t think he ever screamed that at me luckily. Cause I’m the kind of guy that jogs to lunch…I’m kidding around. That’s always when I’m moving fastest. “That’s a half hour for lunch!”

Was the movie a lot of fun to make? I know it was tense in a lot of parts. Were there any times when you were on set and shooting and had a lot of fun?

It was actually a fairly easy-going shoot. Yeah, we did have a good time together and George is such a good guy. I was intimidated to work with Giovanni [Ribisi], just because, we’re about the same age, but seeing his movies before I ever made a movie. I really admired him and looked up to him. He’s the kind of guy people are like, “Be careful, he’s in character.” But then you meet him and you’re in a scene with him and he’s incredible and then you can go get a cup of coffee with him. But, no, we had a good time and that’s where being on-location can be helpful, just because you really are all together in Arizona and just all at the same hotel. It can be fun if you have a good group of people.

Getting back to Giovanni and Gabriel [Macht], their characters are so completely insane. When you’re on set watching them in fisticuffs, what are you thinking?

Well, I mean those were comedic scenes, to me, even though they were battling drug problems and things like that. But those guys are so funny, it’s like the same way DeNiro can be hilarious in movies. Even Raging Bull, he’s so funny in that. I play the straight man a lot so, again, my job was to not laugh, in a different way. I just really admire those guys and for me it’s like you’re not worried about the scene being interesting or fun to watch cause you know at the very least it will have that quality.

As of late, Luke Wilson has been the butt of some unfortunate jokes, be it because of his run as the spokesman for AT&T, the more low-profiled film work or the slight weight gain. However, it's next to impossible to keep talented people down, and Wilson certainly falls into this category. Perhaps that's why he's now hitching his star to one of the most popular comedic actors working today.

Sitting down with Wilson at a roundtable interview for his upcoming film Middle Men, I asked him what his upcoming schedule looked like. In addition to the upcoming HBO series Enlightened, in which he co-stars with Laura Dern, the actor mentioned that he has been working on writing some scripts, one of which is a collaboration with 30 Rock star Tracy Morgan, saying "Tracy Morgan and I are working on a comedy, but it’s tough to get us both organized. Might have to hire a guy to write it."

Unfortunately he was short about giving details about the project, but in all likelihood the two hooked up while co-staring in the Death at a Funeral remake which came out earlier this year. Whatever the project turns into, don't be surprised when Wilson plays the straight man to Morgan's wild-and-crazy character. Perhaps it's just a remake of Blue Streak.

Paramount made a ton of money when they picked up Paranormal Activity for pennies, and bless them, they're trying to recreate the same formula. The latest tiny movie to get picked up thanks to this new attitude is Middle Men, a drama based on the true story of Jack Harris, an everyman who got caught up in helping create one of the first-ever porn websites.

Luke Wilson plays Harris, and James Caan, Giovanni Ribisi and Gabriel Macht round out the cast. Variety reports that the studio plans to release the film this year. Slashfilm also dug up a red-band trailer for the film and the official synopsis, both of which you can see below.

Luke Wilson is set to take on his first regular TV job as he’s been cast to play opposite Laura Dern in HBO’s upcoming comedy pilot, Enlightened. It was also announced that Diane Ladd was also cast in the pilot.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, “The project stars Dern as Amy, a self-destructive woman who after a meltdown has a spiritual awakening and becomes determined to live an enlightened life, creating havoc at home and work.” Wilson is set to play Amy’s drug-addicted ex-husband.

Diane Ladd will be playing the role of Amy’s mother, which seems fitting as she’s Laura Dern’s real-life mother. According to the Reporter, Ladd and Dern have co-starred together in nine other TV and film projects. In Enlightened, Ladd’s character will take her daughter Amy into her home as a houseguest after her crisis.
