To this day, A League of Their Own is considered one of the best sports movies, and many actors from its cast are icons. This list of people, obviously, includes Geena Davis and Madonna. So, you can imagine the excitement fans felt when the actress joined Instagram, and used one of her very first posts to highlight the fact that she had a reunion with the queen of pop.

Now, before we get into this reunion, you need a bit of backstory. This all went down at Sabrina Carpenter’s Coachella performance. During weekend one, she brought out Will Ferrell as an eclecticrician, Susan Sarandon as an older version of herself, Sam Elliott and more. Then, during weekend two, Geena Davis took over the part her Thelma & Louise co-star played, while Madonna came on stage to sing a few songs with the “Manchild” singer.

So, all that is what led to this post from Davis:

Along with utilizing the Thelma & Louise heavyweights during her show, Carpenter also helped facilitate a full A League of Their Own reunion. Clearly, Davis was thrilled about it too, as she wrote that she was “so happy to see” Madonna again. However, instead of using the “Like a Prayer” singer’s name, she called her Mae, which was her character’s name in the great baseball movie.

Overall, this photo marked Davis’ third post on Instagram, with her first two also being dedicated to the Coachella performance she took part in with Sabrina Carpenter. Truly, this is iconic – much like some of the best baseball moments in the movie Davis and Madonna starred in together. So, obviously, fans freaked out about this.

A League Of Their Own Fans Are Freaking Out

Whether you saw this great ‘90s movie when it came out or you were shown it later on, it has been a fan-favorite for decades. It’s still quoted to this day (you know, “There’s no crying in baseball!”), and the A League of Their Own cast is made up of so many truly legendary actresses. So yeah, when Dottie and Mae performers took a photo together, it was met with reactions like:

I couldn’t agree more with all these comments. This truly is a reunion that makes me emotional by itself. However, when you add in the context of why it happened in the first place, it becomes even more special.

As a Sabrina Carpenter fan myself, I’ve always adored her performances; however, her Coachella concert was something else. During her headline show, she paid homage to Hollywood and utilized massive sets, costume changes and guest stars in brilliant ways. This included both Davis and Madonna, who were part of her second weekend performance.

Both of them are such legends, and it made perfect sense for Davis to play an older Carpenter, while the queen of pop arrived to perform some of her greatest hits alongside a rising pop princess.

Plus, it was also what allowed this A League of Their Own reunion to happen. And it's how Genna Davis started her Instagram. So, this beautiful post from the movie's stars was the cherry on top!

The Studio Season 2 is currently filming, and while it’s a shame that we won’t see more of former Continental Studios head Patty Leigh following Catherine O’Hara’s passing, there are plenty of other things to look forward to from it. For example, last month, it was revealed that Madonna will appear in the Apple TV subscription-exclusive show’s second season, ending her 24-year acting break. However, it turns out that this will be more than just another of The Studio’s celebrity cameo, as the series is using her to pull off the most epic meta Hollywood joke since Channing Tatum played Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Here’s some context: a few years back, a Madonna biopic was in development in Universal Pictures, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Julia Garner was set to play the musical artist. However, that biopic has since been shelved, and while Netflix is now putting together an autobiographical series about Madonna, Garner is not involved with it. Within the world of The Studio, however, we now know that Garner-fronted Madonna biopic lives on thanks to Continental Studios.

As reported by Variety, Madonna will appear in two episodes of The Studio Season 2. Seth Rogen, Kathryn Hahn, Bryan Cranston, Ike Barinholtz and Chase Sui Wonders’ characters will take the biopic to the Venice Film Festival, and Madonna and Julia Garner will be there as well to help hype the movie up and generate Oscars buzz. It was also mentioned that The Studio’s version of Madonna did not direct the biopic like she was planning to do in real life. However, Donald Glover has reportedly been seen with her and Garner on the show’s Italian set, so maybe his fictional self or whatever character he’s been cast as assumed helming duties.

Variety additionally shared that Madonna’s episodes will focus on “ the all-important debate around journalists timing festival standing ovations to provide a sense of how films will play in the wider world.” This is some top-tier meta humor and commentary, but I would expect nothing less from The Studio. After all, this is the show where the first episode saw Seth Rogen’s Matt Remick being instructed to greenlight a Kool-Aid movie, and then trying to get it made as a Martin Scorsese-directed movie about the Jonestown massacre instead.

Looking beyond The Studio, as mentioned in the headline, this reminds me of Channing Tatum’s Gambit journey. For five years, he was attached to play the popular X-Men character in his own spinoff movie, but that was scrapped once Disney acquired 20th Century Fox in 2019. Five years later, Tatum made a surprise appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine as Gambit, and obviously some fourth wall-breaking jokes had to be made about the failed spinoff and Tatum’s over-the-top Cajun accent. The actor will next play the mutant superhero in Avengers: Doomsday this December.

It’s still unclear if The Studio Season 2 will be ready in time to premiere late on the 2026 TV schedule or if it will be saved for 2027. Whenever it arrives, I’m looking forward to seeing snippets of how the Madonna biopic turned out in this world and how the Venice Film Festival crowd receives it. I know this won’t be the only meta joke of Season 2, but there’s already a strong possibility it will end up being my favorite one.

Though Madonna is best known as the Queen of Pop and one of the most successful music artists of all time, she also has acting experience under her belt from movies like Dick Tracy, A League of Their Own and Desperately Seeking Susan. However, it’s been 24 years since Madonna acted in a project, but that streak has finally come to an end. It’s been revealed that she’s set to appear in the Apple TV subscription-exclusive The Studio, one of my favorite current comedy shows.

This came to light when Madonna shared a picture on her Instagram Stories (which has since been deleted) of herself in a gondola in Venice, Italy, where she shot the music video for her 1984 song “Like a Virgin.” She’s seen holding a script, though a gray heart emoji is covering what’s on the page, and that was accompanied by a caption reading “The Italian Job.” EW has since learned that Madonna is going to appear in The Studio Season 2, which is currently filming in Venice. The pop music icon, as well as Michael Keaton and Julia Garner, were also photographed on set, per Just Jared.

Although Madonna did voice Princess Selenia in 2006’s Arthur and the Invisibles, she hasn’t performed an on-camera role since 2002, where she both played Amber Leighton in Swept Away and cameoed as Verity in Die Another Day, a.k.a. Pierce Brosnan’s last James Bond movie. That’s not to say she’s been absent from the film industry since then, as she notably directed and co-wrote 2011’s W.E., but it’s a big deal that she’s returned to acting after more than 20 years. Also, fun fact, Julia Garner, who played Silver Surfer in last year’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps, is still set to play Madonna for an upcoming music biopic. 

Given how many celebrities played themselves in The Studio Season 1, from Martin Scorsese to Zoë Kravitz, I think it’s fair to say this will be the same case with Madonna. What I don’t know is if this fictional Madonna is supposed to be acting in a movie opposite Keaton and Garner, or if she just happened to be in Venice for a different reason. Whatever the explanation, I look forward to seeing Seth Rogen’s Matt Remick try his best to cozy up to her, only to end up embarrassing himself somehow.

Just like in Season 1, Seth Rogen, who co-created The Studio, will be joined again by series regulars Ike Barinholtz, Chase Sui Wonders and Kathryn Hahn. Bryan Cranston will also be back as Continental Studios CEO Griffin Mill, though it’s unclear if he’ll be part of the main cast this season or remain a recurring player. Sadly, Catherine O’Hara died in January, so we won’t get to see Patty Leigh, Matt’s mentor, again. 

Because The Studio Season 2 is still filming, it’s unclear if it will be ready in time for a late premiere on the 2026 TV schedule or won’t arrive until 2027. But good things come to those who wait, so I wish the best of luck to the Apple TV show’s cast and crew, as well as offer congratulations to Madonna for stepping back into the acting world.

Bravo is responsible for some of the best reality shows on the air, as well as the late-night companion series Watch What Happens Live!, hosted by producer Andy Cohen. New episodes air every week on Bravo (and streaming with a Peacock subscription), and there's a big guest fans want to see appear: Madonna. But in order to do that, will Andy Cohen find a way to squash the beef with the Queen of Pop?

While Madonna's feud with Cher is still going strong, the same can also be said for her relationship with Cohen. She even called him out mid-performance during The Celebration Tour. During a conversation with EW, Andy was asked if he'd like to see Madge bury the hatchet and come on WWHL. He responded with:

While there's currently no indication that Madonna is ready to end the feud, it sounds like Cohen is hopeful it'll happen. Watch What Happens Live! was recently renewed for two more seasons, so that gives some time. Maybe she just needs the right project to inspire her to appear on the late night talk series. Fingers crossed.

So what exactly is the root of the issue between Madonna and Andy Cohen? Rather than being an interpersonal issue, it seems to mainly be about how guests on WWHL have spoken negatively about the singer over the years. The tension has been steadily building until he attended her tour, and called him a "troublemaking queen" in front of the entire audience.

Indeed, there are a number of guests who notably picked apart Madonna as both an actress and vocalist over the years. One prime example would be Broadway's Patti Lupone who criticized her work on the movie musical Evita, saying on Watch What Happens Live!:

She didn't exactly mince her words there. Many believe that Madonna's problems with Andy are related to him not defending her opposite the various WWHL guests who have spoken negatively about the pop icon.

As for Andy Cohen himself, he's a self-proclaimed "life-long Madonna fan". And really, who isn't? We'll just have to wait and see if the two celebs are able to find common ground, and if she finally joins the fun of WWHL.

Jennifer Lopez’s 2025 movie release Kiss of the Spider Woman has been a real dream for her. She’ll finally get to cross off her bucket list to star in a major musical film like she's always wanted. However, that time for the singer-actress could have come earlier with Evita, as Lopez recalled finding out the brutal way she learned Madonna got the part instead.

Ever since she first saw West Side Story on TV at her childhood Bronx home, Jennifer Lopez has wanted to star in a musical film. The “Get Right” singer said at a post-screening Q&A for her new movie musical (via Variety) about thinking that moment would come after auditioning for 1996’s Evita. Here was the brutal way Lopez found out Madonna got the lead, and I really feel for her:

Ugh, that sounds like the worst way to find out. It’s almost like, why bother auditioning then if the part was already promised? But at the same time, every audition is an excuse to give it your all to an audience of casting directors. Knowing what a force JLo is on stage, I’m confident that she gave it her all.

The Maid in Manhattan actress' other attempts to delve into the musical world included auditioning for Nine and the Oscar-winning musical film Chicago. Lopez was also set to star in the NBC live production of Bye Bye Birdie before it was cancelled. A year after Evita was released, she got her starring role in one of the best music biopics, Selena. However, she couldn’t show off her vocal range as she was lip-syncing to the late singer she was portraying.

Fortunately, a full-circle moment occurred for Jennifer Lopez when she told director Bill Condon at the 64th Golden Globes about her wish to star in a musical. After a long battle of securing the rights for Kiss of the Spider Woman, Condon got real about only having one actress in mind for his new movie.

Remembering his Golden Globes talk with Jennifer Lopez, he knew she had to be his leading lady. Through her new role as silver screen diva Ingrid Luna, audiences will have the pleasure of seeing the award-winning performer strut her stuff, sing her heart out and don a lot of hair transformations.

I’m a big believer that everything happens for a reason. Bill Condon may believe that Jennifer Lopez was “born in the wrong time” and would have flourished well during early cinema. But being born in this century allowed the Hustlers actress to break barriers in film, music and dance, showing many young women what being a powerhouse looks like. Now we see that her fate is sealed this year to star in a movie musical. It was just a matter of when and not if.

It may have been disappointing for Jennifer Lopez to lose to Madonna for Evita. However, I truly believe that even if the role of Ingrid Luna came to her almost 30 years later, the Marry Me actress will truly shine and give it everything she’s got in that character. Maybe her latest role will garner her a Best Actress nomination.

Julia Garner already wowed us when she was cast in Netflix’s Ozark and won three Emmys for it. Now, the talented actress is exploring a wide range of genres, like taking on The Silver Surfer in The Fantastic FouR: First Steps and starring in Zach Cregger’s horror movie Weapons. However, we can’t forget that the Netflix star is also set to play Madonna in the upcoming music biopic. Garner sure hasn’t forgotten either, as she recalled singing and dancing for the pop star during her audition.

While appearing on an episode of SmartLess, Julia Garner got real with Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sean Hayes about the scary process of auditioning for Madonna. After the then-Universal biopic got delayed and was removed from the studio’s 2023 movie slate, Garner said portraying Madonna for a Netflix limited series is “supposed to still happen.” She also got real about what auditioning for the ‘80s icon was like, and it sounds nerve-wracking:

That sounds like a real gamble to impersonate Madonna’s singing and dancing without any training, and in front of Madonna herself! As the “Material Girl” singer was originally supposed to direct her biopic, it makes sense that she’d be in the room to see who can carry her star power potential. Fortunately, Julia Garner impressed Madonna so much with what she brought to her audition that I wish I could see it.

Given what a stressful experience it must be to try to portray Madonna in front of the most successful solo artist in history, it helps to find a tool to calm your nerves. Julia Garner’s advice to herself on how to prove she’s the best Madonna for the job was to think like the “Vogue” singer herself:

Now that's how you channel an empowered woman like Madonna. It’s the best piece of advice for any actress walking into an audition room to develop the mindset of your character. To quote Madonna’s “Human Nature” song, “Express yourself, don’t repress yourself.”

Based on what we know so far about the Madonna biopic, Deadline reported that the limited series is expected to be available to stream with a Netflix subscription. Madonna will also be collaborating with Stranger Things’ Shawn Levy to help bring her story to life. With the series being in early development, we don’t know yet what period of the Evita actress’s life will be depicted. But whatever chapter they choose, I’m confident Madonna’s spirit and girl power drive will make an unforgettable story.

Julia Garner having to sing and dance like Madonna in front of the pop star may have been a terrifying experience, but embracing that pressure would perfectly capture Madonna’s fearless energy. As someone who wasn’t afraid to push the envelope in the music industry, it’s no wonder the “Hung Up” singer was taken with Garner’s audition.

Oh Kanye West. The controversial entertainment personality really does know how to make a scene, even if the results aren’t aired on the 2025 TV schedule. Recent stories surrounding The College Dropout rapper’s provocative exploits have included, but are not limited to, the buzz surrounding wife Bianca Censori’s revealing Grammy dress and even a wild claim from Iggy Azalea, which was confirmed by Kanye himself.

I don't think we'll soon get any sort of confirmation or denial for the two stories that he’s freshly shared with the world. Not only has West claimed he’s had a romantic encounter with Madonna, but his new story involving Full House alum Ashley Olsen contributes some fresh context to an old lyric.

Taking to Twitter for another case of Ye being Ye, the man behind albums such as My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is apparently spilling the beans again. Divulging this supposed instance of making out with the Madame X artist also came with an additional highlight, as you’ll read below:

There's some history there. The larger than life singer who gave us everything from “Material Girl” to “Medellín” once claimed in a 2015 interview with THR that “Kanye is the black Madonna.”

So if this story happens to be true, she may very well be celebrating this message of game recognizing game. Unless her personal stance on the man has changed in the wake of issues such as Kanye’s recent antisemitic messaging, or West’s support of Diddy.

However, there’s another story that Kanye West has revealed from the alleged erotic memoir known as his social media feed. And this one involves Full House alum/fashion designer Ashley Olsen, and the song you were probably waiting to see mentioned in this whole affair.

What’s the first song you think of when you put Kanye West and Ashley Olsen in the same sentence? If it’s Track 3 from the album Watch The Throne, then you’re absolutely correct. Well, as it turns out, that shout out on that 2011 Jay-Z collaboration wasn’t coincidental, as West (via The Blast) made that reported admission clear. Here’s the alleged text of that post, which for some reason is really hard to find:

The validity of these stories is, as it usually is in these cases, up for debate. But what isn’t open to question is Kanye West’s habit of bragging, and telling stories from his point of view from any platform he can get. That being said, if one is going to brag to a varying degree of truth, it’s probably the most fun to swing for the fences with bold claims that are not only provocative, but also get the people going.

The last couple of Saturday Night Live episodes to air amid the 2025 TV schedule garnered quite a bit of attention, to say the least. Amid the March 29th broadcast, musical guest Morgan Wallen hastily exited the stage at the end of the show. Then the April 5 show saw audience members yell an obscenity in unison during a Weekend Update bit. It goes without saying that those were some wild moments and, as those continue to be discussed, there’s another sweet development from the latest episode that you should know about.

What Happened Between Elton John And Madonna?

During this past Saturday’s telecast, Elton John and Brandi Carlile served as musical guests, and they weren’t the only musical titans that were present in Studio 8H. Madonna was also revealed to be in the audience during host Jack Black’s opening monologue. The songstress eventually took to Instagram this week to reflect on her SNL experience, and it seems she enjoyed herself. What she truly relished, though,was that she “buried the hatchet” with John. After reflecting on her admiration for him as a youth, she described their conflicts:

Elton John had previously taken shots at the “Material Girl” singer on a number of occasions over the years. However, based on the sentiments here, it seems the two have finally let bygones be bygones. Madonna also mentioned that John told her he’d written a song for her and “wanted to collaborate.” She also posted a photo of the two of them, which John also shared to his IG story and captioned, “A healing moment.” Check out the picture down below:

The notion of wild and infamous moments happening at SNL isn’t far-fetched, given the show’s history. However, it’s easy to forget that the series can also play host to some truly beautiful happenings as well. All in all, it’s lovely to see that the show (unintentionally) created an opportunity for the two aforementioned singers to make amends.

What’s Going On With The Morgan Wallen And Weekend Update Situations?

As sweet as this Madonna/Elton John moment is, it’s still hard to forget the wilder moments that have unfolded at SNL as of late. Morgan Wallen walked off stage after hugging guest host Mikey Madison and didn’t engage in the weekly cast goodbyes. Fans on social media viewed that a diss, especially after the country singer later took to his IG story to post a photo of his private jet, which was captioned, “Get me to God’s country.” Wallen’s team later responded, saying that he didn’t mean to offend but that he’d been using that exit all week and also didn’t consider he’d be on camera. In the aftermath, Wallen has been selling merchandise inspired by his viral comment as well.

The obscenity debacle occurred this past Saturday when cast member Ego Nwodim performed a bit amid Weekend Update, in which she tried to make an appeal to host the White House Correspondents Dinner. During the set, she joked about filibusters, saying that in her life, she’s had her “fill of busters.” She then turned her mic to the audience to say that’s “because these men ain’t…,” before the audience replied “shit.” Nwodim as well as Colin Jost and Michael Che appeared genuinely shocked.

Earlier this week, fellow series alum Bowen Yang provided clarity on the matter, saying that Ego Nwodim didn’t mean to make the crowd curse. Yang was of the belief that her line was written to play to a silent crowd. That’s definitely a broadcasting faux pas but, per the FCC’s rule on obscene content being allowed after 10 p.m., SNL may dodge a hefty fine.

Personally, I’m not sure fans will ever forget the Weekend Update brouhaha or the Morgan Wallen debacle. Given the sweetness of Madonna and Elton John’s meeting, though, let’s also hope that remains a lovely aspect of the show’s lore as well. Check out the late-night institution this week, as SNL’s upcoming host will be Jon Hamm, with musical guest Lizzo. It airs on the titular night at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC and will be streamable with a Peacock subscription as well.

Jimmy Kimmel continues to welcome major A-listers to his late-night show amid the 2025 TV schedule. Viewers will soon see stars like Chris Pratt (promoting his Netflix movie The Electric State) and first-time Oscars host Conan O’Brien among others. Considering the many memorable guests who’ve appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! it's weird to consider who actually hasn't been on the show since it premiered in 2023. On that note, Kimmel recently name-dropped one massive star that he'd still love to have on the program.

There’s no doubt that Jimmy Kimmel has welcomed many outstanding guests on his eponymous show like Robert Downey Jr., Rihanna and even former U.S. President Barack Obama. There have also been some hilarious moments starring major actors, including the time that Ben Affleck snuck in Matt Damon, who has an ongoing rivalry with Kimmel. Yet one notable celebrity that Kimmel has yet to have on his talk show, as he told People while attending The Power of Love Gala, is the Queen of Pop:

It’s hard to believe that Madonna has never made a guest appearance. After all, she’s been on so many other talk shows over the years. One such guest spot that comes to mind is her infamous David Letterman interview from 1994, during which she dropped 14 f-bombs. The “Vogue” singer has also been known to make Jimmy Fallon hilariously squirm during her frequent visits to The Tonight Show. That was the case in 2021 when she crawled across his desk to show “artists are here to disturb the peace.” The ‘80s pop singer definitely possesses a rebellious, playful side that always makes her a fascinating guest.

While Jimmy Kimmel hasn't been able to spend time with Mandonna, his talk show sidekick has. Kimmel went on to mention how Guillermo Rodriguez had a moment with the Evita actress when she invited him onstage during her Mexico City concert last year:

Aww, poor Jimmy Kimmel. Hopefully, 2025 will be the year that the pop singer makes her way to the show. After all, Kimmel revealed his retirement plans last year, saying he may not renew his contract when it expires in 2026. That means that the “Hung Up” singer would need to appear sooner rather than later.

Madonna revealed this month on Instagram that she’s making a sequel album to her Confessions on a Dance Floor. Her promotion of that music would be a good reason for her to show up on Live! It'd be very funny to see the witty host interact with the pop star and dish out his signature brand of humor. The thought of seeing the Grammy winner making him squirm as she's done with Jimmy Fallon is also funny.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe consistently releases new content, both in theaters and streaming with a Disney+ subscription. Fans who have spent years watching the Marvel movies in order have seen how some post-Endgame projects failed, while Deadpool & Wolverine broke records. The movie's success also extended into the music business, and Shawn Levy had a cute response after the blockbuster bumped Madonna's "Like a Prayer" back into the Billboard charts.

There were plenty of iconic music drops in Levy's threequel, including Deadpool's opening "Bye Bye Bye" dance/battle. "Like a Prayer" playing over the finale really helped to elevate the proceedings, and it turns out that way more people have been streaming the new choir version of the song. Both Shawn Levy and Deadpool & Wolverine's composer Rob Simonsen seem thrilled that the movie's choral version of "Like a Prayer" has become such a huge hit. Indeed, it's been used for countless TikToks in the months since the movie's release, so it makes sense that it would end up on the charts. One can only imagine how many new streams the original Madonna version (which played during Deadpool 3's crazy final battle) must have gotten as well.

The wild success of Deadpool & Wolverine definitely turned heads, especially after recent recent box office bombs like The Marvels. On top of breaking records, the fact that the music industry was also affected by the blockbuster's popularity shows just how much the public connected with Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman's movie.

As such, fans are eagerly anticipating news about when the pair of A-listers might once again reprise their signature roles in upcoming Marvel movies. The most popular theory is that they'll pop up in the next big crossover projects, Avengers: Doomsday and/or Secret Wars. But as of the time of writing this story, there hasn't been any concrete information about what's coming next.

Ryan Reynolds appealed directly to Madonna to get not one but two version of "Like A Prayer" into Deadpool & Wolverine. While promoting the film he revealed that the Queen of Pop had some notes about how it should be used, and that she was totally right in her judgement calls. And hopefully the movie's inclusion of her iconic 1989 song allowed some of the younger Gen Z audiences the opportunity to be introduced to Madge's catalogue of hits.

While Ryan Reynolds has maintained he's not diving back into another Deadpool movie anytime soon, smart money says the fandom will demand more of him soon. We'll just have to wait and see if he signs on for The Avengers, and if that helps to satiate moviegoers looking to the 2025 movie release dates.

Anyone who has seen Sofia Coppola’s Lost in Translation must wonder for at least a second if there is truth in Bill Murray’s character of a famous American actor in Japan to film a commercial. Well, there definitely is. Huge American and European stars have been hawking products in Japanese commercials for decades. 

Some of the biggest names in Hollywood, some of whom you’d never expect to be selling cars and shampoo in the States, are happy to do it in Japan. While there was a time those stars may have been labeled as “sell-outs” in the U.S. for doing commercials, it was very lucrative to appear in ads in Japan, without the baggage. Here are just a few of the celebrities who have made those Japanese ads. 

Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman is known in the U.S. for her Miss Dior perfume commercials, but in Japan, she’s better known for selling Lux shampoo. The commercial we found is a pretty standard shampoo commercial, very similar to one you’d see in the States with long, flowing locks being flung to and fro. 

Jodie Foster

Two-time Oscar winner Jodie Foster is one of those actors you’d least expect to see in a commercial, but in the ‘90s, Foster starred in a campaign for Honda Civics. The commercials are pretty bland, with lots of shots of a smiling Foster standing near the Hondas she was selling. 

George Clooney

He may be one of the biggest movie stars of all time, but George Clooney isn’t above slinging coffee in Europe or doing extensive voice-over work on American commercials. In Japan, he’s the face of Kirin Beer in at least a couple of commercials, co-starring with some CGI songbirds. 

Keanu Reeves

Keanu Reeves has developed a reputation for being one of the nicest guys in Hollywood. It makes sense that a product would be interested in having him as a spokesman. In the United States, he occasionally does a commercial or two, most notably for Squarespace. In Japan, he’s also popular. Like a lot of Western celebs, he’s been hired by the whiskey maker Suntory to do commercials. As always, he looks cool doing it. 

Madonna

At the height of Madonna’s fame in the ‘80s and ‘90s, it would’ve been very rare to see her endorse a product on TV in the United States, but in Japan, she was part of a big campaign for Takara, a whiskey made by Blanton’s for the Japanese market. The commercials don’t look like they took up much of the Material Girl’s time, however, as they are just cuts from her music videos spliced with buzzwords and shots of the bourbon. 

Arnold Schwarzenegger

Lately, Arnold Schwarzenegger has been showing up in more and more commercials. At the 2024 Super Bowl, he was in a State Farm ad, for example. It seems the former Governator likes the idea of picking up a nice paycheck for a minimal amount of work, and who can blame him? It’s something he’s been doing in Japan for decades, going back to the pinnacle of his fame in the ‘90s when he endorsed an energy drink called Alinamin V. These might be the strangest of all the commercials too, featuring Schwarzenegger’s giant head popping out the bottle and other over-the-top images. 

Miles Davis

No one defines “cool” quite like Miles Davis did. The late jazz legend had a reputation for being prickly, but fans still wanted to be him. His sound on trumpet was unique, as was his style, and it all oozes authenticity. Endorsing products in the U.S. might have branded him a “sell-out” to his fans, but in the ‘80s, he could go to Japan, where he was also a big star, and shoot commercials for Honda Scooters, and no one would be the wiser in North America. 

Britney Spears

Britney Spears might be the least surprising person on this list. At the height of her fame in the late ‘90s, she’s exactly the kind of celebrity that would be huge in Japan. Spears took advantage of that fame, starring in a series of commercials for Go Go Tea. The pop star also appeared in an ad for Mikakuto Gummy Candies as well. 

Harrison Ford

Back in 1996, Entertainment Weekly reported that Hollywood stars could make anywhere from $500K to $2 million for a couple of days’ work on a Japanese commercial. It explains why actors like Harrison Ford, who no one would have expected to see in an ad in the ‘90s in America, would spend a few days in Japan shooting commercials for Kirin beer. We don’t know how much he made, but it’s safe to assume the Star Wars star made enough to pay Jabba back and then some. 

Cameron Diaz

SoftBank is one of the largest holding companies in Japan and it loves to bring over American stars to promote its services. One such star was Cameron Diaz, who in the mid-’00s starred in commercials and print ads all over Tokyo for the cell phone giant. No doubt such a campaign made it possible for the actress to semi-retire in 2014. 

Brad Pitt

Coffee, specifically canned coffee, seems to be one of the more lucrative areas of advertising for Western stars in Japan. None other than Brad Pitt even showed up in one in the ‘90s. Pitt stars as an office worker getting more work done after drinking a can of Roots Coffee. 

Bruce Willis

Bruce Willis is big in Japan. He’s been spotted selling everything from cars to financial services. Daihatsu and SoftBank have both hired the Die Hard legend to hawk their wares. He even learned a phrase or two in Japanese for the spots. 

Sharon Stone

Just as in America and Europe, Japanese beauty brands love to hire a famous actress to taut their product’s ability to make everyone as beautiful as they are. Sharon Stone was a major spokeswoman for Vernal soaps, for example. Stone also appeared in commercials for jewelry and other luxury wares. 

Ben Stiller

When you watch the Kirin ad Ben Stiller did back in the late ‘90s, it makes you wonder if it was the main inspiration for Zoolander. It feels like an outtake from the movie about a male model, it’s so goofy. Don’t get it wrong, it’s supposed to be over-the-top and funny, so it fits the character of Derek Zoolander perfectly, even if Stiller wasn’t actually playing the role. It’s also better than Zoolander 2.

Francis Ford Coppola

Of course, the most famous example in the West of a star doing Japanese commercials is the fictional Bob Harris (Bill Murray) doing Suntory ads in Lost In Translation. The inspiration for the film, or part of it, had to be Sofia Coppola’s father, Francis Ford Coppola doing ads in Japan in the ‘80s and ‘90s. Including one for Fuji Cassettes, and yes, Suntory whiskey. 

Sylvester Stallone

Rocky star Sylvester Stallone got on the Japanese advertising train back in the mid-’90s, including doing some very strange commercials for Bayern Sausages. An Italian-American doing ads for German sausages in Japan. It’s the UN of commercials! 

Brooke Shields

Back in the ‘80s, Brooke Shields was huge. For much of the decade, she found a lot of work in Japan in ads for everything from tissues to coffee to stereos. No doubt that helped her pay for her Princeton education, where she studied during a break from her career in the mid-’80s. 

Richard Gere

In 2009, Japanese company Suntory bought Orangina, the sparking orange beverage from France. Almost immediately, Suntory did what they had done so often in the past, they hired an American actor for an ad campaign. Richard Gere starred in a few commercials for the brand at the dawn of the 2010s, playing a classic Japanese comedy character from the ‘60s and ‘70s named Tora-san.  

Audrey Hepburn

By the early 1970s, Hollywood legend Audrey Hepburn had already semi-retired from acting, starring only sporadically in a few movies in the ‘70s before bowing out completely. Still, she did work in Japan occasionally in commercials, including one for wigs from 1970, which seems pretty odd, but hey, it’s Audrey Hepburn, so who are we to question it?

Leonardo DiCaprio

Even the great Leonardo DiCaprio has gotten in on the Japanese ad business, hawking credit cards in the ‘90s and Jim Beam more recently. You might expect the latter, but definitely not the former, in the United States. 

Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway is another glamorous actress who has been known to pop up in luxury and beauty ads in Japan. One product, Lux Shampoo, is well known for using American stars in its ads for its products. The rom-com star pitched for the company a few times in the mid-’00s. 

Sammy Davis, Jr.

Suntory Whiskey definitely takes the win for grabbing some of the biggest stars from the U.S. to sell its products. Even way back in the ‘70s, it was paying Sammy Davis, Jr. to do commercials for them. They even got him to scat for one of them, and it’s a gem. 

Tommy Lee Jones

Tommy Lee Jones has been a regular in Japanese commercials for a long time, and watching some of the more bizarre ones, he’s clearly having a lot of fun. It definitely references his role in the Men in Black series, but beyond that, it’s hard to pin what they are about, exactly, except that he’s selling coffee. 

Nicolas Cage

It’s no surprise to find Nicolas Cage on this list, now is it? Going back a couple of decades, the actor did a series of commercials for Pachinko games, which are Japanese slot machines and pinball machines.

Kyle MacLachlan

In what might be the absolute best and most bizarre entry on this list, Kyle MacLachlan starred in a whole series of commercials for Georgia Coffee as Dale Cooper from Twin Peaks. The commercials played out like a bizarre mystery, just like the show, and also featured other characters from the show, and the famous intro. It’s truly awesome… and weird… and awesome.

Sean Connery

If you want someone elegant and cool to advertise your whiskey, why not hire James Bond himself, Sean Connery? That’s exactly what Suntory did in the early ‘90s and he’s everything you want him to be in the ad. 

Hugh Jackman

When you have the talents of a true song-and-dance man like Hugh Jackman, it’s smart to take advantage of that. It’s what Lipton Ice Tea did in 2010 to amazing results with the Deadpool & Wolverine star dancing around a Japanese hotel. 

Cindy Crawford

Cindy Crawford was the most famous model in the world in the ‘80s and ‘90s, so it’s no surprise she’d been seen on Japanese TV selling lots of stuff, as she was virtually everywhere else in the world. For example, in Japan, she hawked a sports drink called Pocari Sweat. Sweat seems like an odd thing to name your drink, but Crawford could sell anything in those days. 

John Travolta

Canned drinks are huge in Japan and the competition for customers is intense, which has led to a lot of American stars getting lucrative gigs. John Travolta is one such star, who was hired to appear in an ad for Tokyo Drink. Naturally, he danced his way through it. 

Hulk Hogan

Professional wrestling has long been hugely popular in Japan. American wrestling stars like Hulk Hogan have been traveling to Japan to work for decades. With that fame, came commercials for the Hulkster, like one in the early ‘90s hawking Hitachi Air Conditioners. 

Quentin Tarantino

It’s not always just actors either. Quentin Tarantino, whose Kill Bill movies are a tribute to Japanese culture, popped up in an ad for SoftBank’s cell phone service. The director looks like he had a blast making the spots, too. 

Kiefer Sutherland

When 24 debuted, it instantly became one of the biggest hits on TV, and that success translated to Japanese TV as well. So much so, that Kiefer Sutherland was hired by the energy drink Calorie Mate to star in a series of commercials in the style of the spy show. 

There was a time when “selling out” was a real concern for artists and their fans. It’s far more common today to see big stars in commercials. Before it became okay to be seen selling stuff on TV, those big names could head to Japan for a nice paycheck, without retribution from hardcore fans. Until the internet, it was rare for an American or European to even know the stars had done it. Now with the internet, we get to see all these great commercials they were doing. 

If there is any time to take a fashion risk, a Madonna concert is definitely the occasion. The music icon is known for her experimentation and musical styles, never being afraid to embrace sexuality in her songs and performances. That’s why when Euphoria star Alexa Demie decided to free the nipple while on stage with the performer amid her tour, it seemed fitting for the venue. Demie seemed to have a blast dancing with the “Like A Virgin” singer, seemingly bringing some inspiration from her TV character into her fashion moment. 

Madonna performed in Los Angeles on Saturday night as part of her nationwide Celebration tour. The “Vogue” artist pulled out all the stops for her California show, even bringing Alexa Demie on stage for a key part of the performance. In true Madonna fashion, an aspect of her concert features a “runway show” where performers strut their stuff for the Grammy winner and a guest judge. Demie was said guest last night and truly strutted everything in a bold mesh dress and black pumps. You can see a video from X user @TrueBlueLDR of the moment below:

Some other footage from the night captures the Waves actress being brought on stage by the music superstar from the audience, indicating that the actress may not have expected to be a part of the show. She played it very cool nonetheless and seemed to love being on stage for the moment. After all, she is an actress, so I’m not surprised she was able to adapt and perform in her own way for the Hollywood crowd. (Maybe her enthusiasm could earned her a role in the upcoming Madonna biopic?) Regardless, being on stage with Madonna is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and her energy definitely matched the moment. 

As for fashion, the "Music" performer has long pushed boundaries, baring all well before the days of HBO's young adult series. Alexa Demie's nipple-revealing mesh dress may seem too sexy for other venues, but this seems like an homage to everything the iconic singer has done for women embracing their bodies in a creative way. Mesh is also totally on trend right now, as Olivia Wilde recently freed the nipple as well while attending a fashion show. The singer additionally seemed excited to be on stage with Demie, and I wonder if that means she may be a fan of the Emmy-winning show herself. I personally wouldn't mind seeing her pop up on the upcoming third season. 

Not only is the mesh dress very “Madonna” but it’s also very “Maddy.” On the hit HBO drama series, Alexa Demie’s Maddy has shown skin, pushing boundaries in her own way. Euphoria often highlights iconic glittery makeup and colorful Gen Z fashion choices. However, a somewhat edgier and more brooding character like Maddy could totally be seen wearing something black and mesh at a party just like the fit above. Fingers crossed that this outfit is more than just a fun, youthful concert look but also a potential sneak peek into the fashion fans can expect to see during Season 3. 

In the meantime, Madonna is still in tour, so make sure to snag tickets while you can and rock your own bold and sexy concert look just like the actress. Fans of hers can also see her performance as Maddy in the first two seasons of Euphoria, which are streaming now for Max subscribers. And, while you wait for new episodes, look for another viewing options on the 2024 TV schedule.

With the release of Michael in April, it means that for the first time in a very long time, there aren't any music biopics with definite release dates for a couple of years. Given the box office success of the Michael Jackson biopic, it surely won't be long before some more productions get underway; however, as of this writing, on the 2026 movie schedule. There aren't any that are for sure coming in 2027 (though there is a possibility of a couple).

After a decade or so of seemingly endless music biopics, there are still quite a few that are in the works that we could see at some point. It's not like the genre isn't successful; with unforgettable Best Picture winners and cult classics about beloved and tormented musicians released over the years, it's not like Hollywood is going to abandon them completely. With all that said, here's what we know about some that are definitely on the way, and even more that have been announced, but we may or may not see on the big screen eventually.

Snoop Dogg Biopic - Possibly 2027

Snoop Dogg is about to get a full-fledged biographical drama about his life, career, and legacy in the rap game, Hollywood, and pop culture in general. Though the title has yet to be announced, Deadline reported in early 2025 that the drama will center on Calvin Broadus Jr. and his journey to becoming Snoop Doggy Dogg, one of the most successful performers of all time.

At CinemaCon in April 2026, Snoop was joined by Outer Banks' Jonathan Daviss at the Universal Pictures event (per Variety), and announced that he'd be back next year "with a trailer" for the biopic. Does that mean this one is set for a 2027 release? Well, we'll have to wait and see for information. This is the most promising title on the docket for 2027, however.

The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event - April 7, 2028

Sam Mendes, a director who doesn’t get talked about enough, is taking on what could be his most ambitious project yet: The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event. If all things go according to plan, the 1917 filmmaker will release a series of biopics, with each film centering on a specific member of the iconic band.

Production on all four films is underway, but that doesn't mean we'll be seeing them soon. In fact, all four are scheduled to be released on the same day, but that day isn't until April 7th, 2028. We've started learning quite a bit about The Beatles – A Four Film Cinematic Event (the official title as of April 2026), but aside from some publicity photos, we're all still in the dark about what it will look like. It's weird that even though these movies are still almost two years away, they are the only ones on this list with a definitive release date.

Winds Of Change (Scorpions Biopic) - TBD

In June 2025, Deadline reported that Winds of Change, a biographical drama based on the European rockers, is in the works and will focus on their start in post-WWII Germany and eventual rise to become a massively successful and prolific group, selling millions of records. Alex Ranarivelo, best known for American Wrestler: The Wizard, is sitting in the director's chair for the upcoming biopic, with Dominic West, Alexander Dreymon, Ludwig Trepte, and Ed Speleers starring.

Principal photography took place in 2025, and the film was reportedly set to be released the same year, but it may have been affected by the Warner Bros. merger with Paramount, and it seems that, at least for now, the movie is on hold, with no release date set. At least there is a trailer, which is honestly more than a lot of the movies on this list can say for now.

Josephine Baker Biopic (TBD)

In May 2026, Variety reported that pop star FKA Twigs had signed on to play the legendary Josephine Baker in a biopic from French director Maimouna Doucouré. Baker may not be a household name these days, but 100 years ago, she was one of the biggest stars on the planet. She was a cabaret singer, movie star, pin-up girl, and more. She led a fascinating life outside of entertainment as a member of the French Resistance during World War II, and was a prominent voice in the Civil Rights Movement, despite living most of her life in Paris.

This won't be the first film about Baker. In 1991, Lynn Whitfield starred as the singer in The Josephine Baker Story on HBO. Sonia Rolland played Baker in Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris in 2011 as well.

Joni Mitchell Biopic - TBD

Director Cameron Crowe (Almost Famous) knows a thing or two about music-centric movies, and Meryl Streep is no stranger to biopics. Now, the two Hollywood legends are teaming up to tell the story of one of history’s most prolific and transformative songwriters of all time for the long-awaited Joni Mitchell biographical drama. The film will reportedly co-star Ana Taylor-Joy as the singer in her earlier years as well.

Word of this came from Rolling Stone, which reported in February 2026 that Clive Davis confirmed the news of the Oscar-winning actress being picked to play the legendary musicians during his big pre-Grammys party. Details are being limited at this time, so we’ll have to wait and see if the movie hires another actress to play Mitchell during her early days in the folk scene. I mean, I’d love to hear both versions of “Both Sides Now” when this comes out.

The Replacements Biopic - TBD

We can’t hardly wait for this one. With his time in Hawkins, Indiana, a distant memory, Finn Wolfhard is already gearing up for his next project. In October 2025, Variety reported that the actor and musician was in the process of adapting Bob Mehr’s acclaimed biography Trouble Boys: The True Story of the Replacements along with his dad, Eric Wolfhard.

While it hasn’t been revealed if the younger Wolfhard will be acting in the upcoming biopic, he certainly has the musical chops to handle the duties that’d come with playing one of the most iconic American rock bands of the late 20th century. When hosting Saturday Night Live back in January 2026, the actor and musician could be seen wearing a Replacements T-shirt when introducing A$AP Rocky.

Bon Jovi Biopic - TBD

Bon Jovi fans who have long been “living on a prayer” as they wait for information about a long-rumored biopic are in for a real treat. In March 2026, Deadline reported that Universal Pictures is currently working on a movie about the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame rock quartet and its leader, Jon Bon Jovi. To make it even better, the famous musician is working alongside producers and has allowed the production to use the band’s massive library of music.

According to the report, the movie will focus on the band’s formative years as it goes from a group of New Jersey rockers to one of the biggest music sensations of the ‘80s. Cody Brotter is set to pen the script, but there’s no word on who’ll be directing or starring in this hotly anticipated movie. Let the guessing games begin.

George Clinton Biopic - TBD

When it comes to the world of funk, few names carry as much weight (or groove) as George Clinton. The frontman and band leader of the iconic Parliament-Funkadelic is known throughout the music industry and pop culture as one of the most colorful, prolific, and influential figures of all time. That said, it shouldn’t be any surprise that some folks want to make a biopic about the legendary figure and his over-the-top outfits (and wigs).

After years of talk about some kind of project about the P-Funk leader’s history and legacy, Variety reported in 2024 that Eddie Murphy was in talks to play Clinton in a big-screen biopic directed by Bill Condon. However, like many other projects, there have been no updates in months, though Murphy has mentioned it in interviews over the last year, so it does seem that plans are still underway to produce it.

Dionne Warwick Biopic - TBD

Teyana Taylor gave a career-defining and scene-stealing performance in One Battle After Another, but came up just short at the 98th Academy Awards. We could be seeing her in the running for an Oscar in the future, however, as she is working on a biopic about the life and career of six-time Grammy winner and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Dionne Warwick.

During a September 2025 appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the Golden Globe-winning actress said that she was very protective of Warwick and that a script was being worked on. Funnily enough, the singer behind classics like “Walk On By” and “Don’t Make Me Over” took to X (still called Twitter at the time) back in December 2020 to handpick Taylor for the part. We cannot wait to hear more about this one!

As for Taylor singing those iconic tunes? She's not so sure, telling Today:

There is still no date set on when production could begin on this.

Heart Biopic - TBD

Heart, the iconic rock outfit led by sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson, has been one of the most prolific and popular bands on the planet for well over half a century, and it sounds like they’ll soon be getting a biopic of their own. When speaking with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel back in March 2025, Nancy revealed that the ending was still being worked out and that they would soon start casting the various roles.

The movie, which is still untitled, is being written and directed by Carrie Brownstein of Olympia, Washington’s Sleater-Kinney (she also co-created and co-starred in Portlandia). The project is being produced by Lynda Obst for Amazon MGM, but it’s not yet known if it’ll get a theatrical release or end up as a streaming exclusive.

Syd Barrett (Pink Floyd) Biopic - TBD

Though you could argue that Pink Floyd’s The Wall was a biopic about Roger Waters and how the death of his father led to his artistic expression and sense of detachment from the world, there’s never been a proper biographical drama about the influential prog rock outfit. That could soon change with an untitled movie about founding member Syd Barrett, who left the band following a mental breakdown shortly before they reached superstardom in the late ‘60s.

When speaking with Matthew Belloni’s The Town podcast back in 2024, Peter Jaysen, who produced A Complete Unknown, revealed that he was in the process of turning Barrett’s story into a movie with writer/director Wash Westmoreland. He didn’t share a lot of details about the project, but considering Barrett’s story, this could be a wild, psychedelic, and ultimately tragic movie to experience.

It's been a couple of years since there have been any major announcements regarding this biopic.

Cass Elliot (The Mamas & The Papas) Biopic - TBD

Cass Elliot, the singer and songwriter best remembered for her time with The Mamas & the Papas, has gone down as one of the most influential artists as well as one of the saddest stories in rock ‘n roll history. Well, producer Peter Jaysen is also trying to tell that story to audiences around the world, as he revealed in a 2024 appearance on Matthew Belloni’s The Town (the same interview as the Syd Barrett discussion).

In the chat, Jaysen revealed that he has been in contact with the family and estate of the late singer in hopes of securing the rights to the biography My Mama Cass, which detailed the life and legacy of the late musician and actress. It was later revealed by Variety in February 2026 that the movie will go with the biography’s title and will star Baby Reindeer breakout star Jessica Gunning as the legendary singer.

Roy Orbison Biopic - TBD

It is impossible to tell the story of American rock ‘n roll without turning your attention to the impact of Roy Orbison, the man behind the powerful and operatic voice heard in classics like “Oh, Pretty Woman” and “Only the Lonely.” Well, there’s a good chance that the story gets told, as Variety reported in early 2025 that Compelling Pictures, the group behind Bohemian Rhapsody, was working on adapting the late musician’s life into a movie.

The biopic, which has a working title of You Got It, is said to be less of a traditional biographical drama and more of a romance story about Roy and his wife, Barbara Orbison, and the impact she had on his career. There have not been any updates in quite some time.

Lucille (B.B. King Biopic) - TBD

The late and great B.B. King was one of the most influential and transformative blues guitarists of the 20th century, and his impact can still be felt a decade after his 2015 passing. Well, his story will be told at some point in the future, as there’s currently a biopic in the works about his life and career called Lucille, per a December 2025 Deadline report.

Anyone who knows anything about the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Famer is fully aware of the significance of the title for the upcoming biopic. For those who don’t know, Lucille was the name of King’s legendary Gibson ES that the guitarist played for years. And like any iconic instrument, it has quite a story. How that story is told in King’s biopic is anyone’s guess at this point.

That’ll Be The Day (Buddy Holly Biopic) - TBD

Before you get going, this is not about the 1978 biopic, The Buddy Holly Story, starring Gary Busey as the trailblazing musician whose life was cut short in a 1959 plane crash. Instead, this is a new movie about the “Peggy Sue” singer that’s been in the works since 2024, with Mario Van Peebles sitting in the director’s chair.

According to Variety, That’ll Be the Day will tell the story of Holly and the early days of the Rock ‘n’ Roll movement. Nothing has been said about the cast or how much of Holly’s story will be told in the new drama, and as of April 2026, there have no updates since the initial announcement about two years ago. The status of this one is unknown.

Otis & Zelma (Otis Redding Biopic) - TBD

Otis Redding, commonly known as the “King of Soul” and “The Big O,” was one of the most powerful R&B singers of the ‘60s and someone who transformed the face of music in a short amount of time. Well, now it appears that the story of Redding’s life and career, both of which were cut tragically short in a 1967 plane crash, will get the biopic treatment with Otis & Zelma.

According to an October 2024 Variety report, John Boyega and Danielle Deadwyler are set to portray the late “These Arms of Mine” singer and his widow, Zelma Redding, respectively, in a new drama directed by Channing Godfrey Peoples. Details are still being kept to a minimum at this time, but this could be one of the more powerful biopics in recent memory when it’s all said and done. Like a lot of music biopics on this list, the status of this one seems up in the air, with little to report in over a year and a half.

Sinéad O'Connor Biopic - TBD

The world lost one of its great voices and supporters of personal expression in July 2023 when Sinéad O'Connor passed away at the age of 56. Known for her iconic 1990 megahit, “Nothing Compares 2 U,” and one of the most shocking SNL moments when she ripped up a picture of Pope John Paul II a couple of years later, O’Connor was one of the most consequential and misunderstood Irish singer-songwriters of all time.

In August 2025, Variety reported that several production companies, including See-Saw Films (the team behind Slow Horses and Power of the Dog), were working on a retelling of the late singer’s story. According to the outlet, Josephine Decker will be directing the upcoming music biopic, which is based on a screenplay by Stacey Gregg.

Gloria Estefan Biopic - TBD

Known for hit tracks like “Anything for You,” “Bad Boy,” and “Rhythm Is Gonna Get You,” Gloria Estefan has been a force in the music industry for the past 50 years. Well, now it appears the Cuban-American singer is getting her due in the form of an upcoming music biopic.

When speaking with The Sun in October 2025, Esfefan told the British publication that not only was there a movie in the works about her life and career, but that Rachel Zegler was set to portray her in the yet-to-be-titled film. Zegler, who has shown her singing chops in movies like West Side Story and Snow White, has the potential to knock this out of the park. Nothing has been announced since then.

Boyz II Men Biopic - TBD

Is Motownphilly about to be back again, or at least on the big screen? Well, it certainly looks that way now that there’s a biopic about Boyz II Men in the works. Back in November 2024, Variety reported that a biopic was in the works charting the story of the four-time Grammy-winning group known for soulful hits like “End of the Road,” “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday,” and “On Bended Knee.”

There’s no word on a cast, or director, or even a writer at this point, but this is one of those biopics that just has to happen. Considering Boyz II Men was one of the hottest groups of the ‘90s, this one just feels like a winner waiting to happen.

Ozzy And Sharon Osbourne Biopic - TBD

There’s a long list of music biopics we’d love to see, and that includes one about the “Prince of Darkness” himself, Ozzy Osbourne. Well, it sounds like that’s going to be happening at some point in the near future. In August 2025, not long after the Black Sabbath singer died at the age of 76, just weeks after playing his final gig, Variety reported that Sony Pictures was still in the process of producing a movie about his and longtime wife/manager Sharon Osbourne’s life that had been in the works since 2021.

During a January 2026 appearance on Billy Morrison’s SiriusXM show (via Vice), Jack Osbourne explained that the family was “full steam in the next phase of development,” adding that a director was attached to the project and that they had a "phenomenal actor” in mind to play his late father. However, he stopped short of identifying either.

Anthony Kiedis Biopic - TBD

Anthony Kiedis has a long history of appearing on the big screen, as he showed up in various ‘90s movies like Point Break and The Chase (an underrated Charlie Sheen movie). Now it sounds like the Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman is getting a movie of his own. Back in January 2024, Deadline reported that Brian Grazer, known for movies like Apollo 13 and A Beautiful Mind, was producing a biopic about Kiedis over at Universal.

The film is said to be based on the RHCP singer’s memoir titled Scar Tissue, which documents Kiedis’ upbringing in Southern California and how those experiences shaped his life, the band, and the face of American rock music in the ‘80s and ‘90s. It's been a while since there has been an update on this one, but there is an excellent new documentary available with a Netflix subscription about the early days of the band.

Britney Spears Biopic - TBD

It’s hard to talk about ‘90s and early 2000s pop culture without the conversation eventually turning to Britney Spears. One of the biggest pop stars of all time, Spears is known around the world for hits like “Baby One More Time,” “Oops! I Did It Again,” and “Toxic,” as well as a number of various controversies and unforgettable moments. Now, all of that will be explored in a new biopic.

In 2024, Variety reported that Wicked director Jon M. Chu would be helming a biographical drama about the “Princess of Pop” based on Spears’ memoir The Woman in Me. There has been a great deal of speculation about who’ll play the star, with names like Millie Bobby Brown and Sabrina Carpenter coming up quite often. There have been no updates in some time, as of April 2026.

Robert Johnson Biopic - TBD

When it comes to early American blues musicians, few have been as influential or mysterious as Robert Johnson, the King of the Delta Blues. Johnson, who would go on to inspire the likes of the Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, B.B. King, and countless other musicians over the years, will soon be the subject of a new biopic, Deadline reported in February 2025.

Not a lot is known about the movie at this point, but the biopic will reportedly focus on one of the biggest myths surrounding Johnson’s life and legacy: the tale that he sold his soul to the devil in exchange for his unmatched musicianship. With the Academy Award-winning Sinners paying homage to Johnson in a variety of ways, now would be the perfect time for this to finally happen.

Ronnie Milsap Biopic - TBD

Though Ronnie Milsap doesn’t have the name recognition of other famous country singers like Willie Nelson, Hank Williams, or George Strait, the blind music legend has had a major impact on the genre over the years. That said, it’s not all that surprising that there is currently a biopic about the transformative star in the works.

In late 2024, Variety reported that Spencer Boldman, who most recently appeared in Welcome to Chippendales, would be leading the film that is based on Milsap’s autobiography, Almost Like a Song.

Forever And Ever, Amen (Randy Travis Biopic) - TBD

We’ve been treated to so many great country music movies over the years, and that includes a few biopics like the all-time great Walk the Line. Well, one of the biggest names in the country music renaissance of the late 1980s will soon get the biopic treatment when Forever and Ever, Amen explores the life and legacy of Randy Travis. Named after the singer-songwriter’s 1987 hit “Forever and Ever, Amen,” the movie was announced at the Grand Ole Opry in March 2025, according to Deadline.

There haven’t been any details about the movie’s plot, but we do know that country singer Clay Walker will play the iconic country star and that Andrew Hyatt is writing and directing.

Queen Latifah Biopic - TBD

Queen Latifah's run with The Equalizer may be finished now that the CBS series has been cancelled after five seasons, but it’s not all bad for the rapper-turned-actress. In September 2024, Deadline reported that the “Ladies First” and “U.N.I.T.Y.” hip-hop artist would be the subject of a new biographical drama. The untitled biopic, which will focus on Latifah’s rise in the rap game in the latter part of the 20th century, is to be the first of a series of hip-hop dramas about iconic artists.

Though she didn’t share any details about the movie when speaking with Today back in May 2025, the rapper-turned-actor said whoever is cast to portray her needs to be brave and that it’s going to be hard to cast the part.

All Out Of Love: The Air Supply Story - TBD

An Air Supply biopic is something we never thought we’d get to see, but there’s one in the works. The Australian soft rock duo consisting of Russell Hitchcock and Graham Russell will be at the center of All Out of Love: The Air Supply Story, a biographical drama first announced by Variety back in 2024.

There’s not a lot of information about the movie chronicling the life and times of the successful outfit known for hits like “All Out of Love” and “Lost in Love,” but it was initially slated for 2026, though there have been almost no updates in quite some time, so that seems unlikely.

Be My Baby (Ronnie Spector Biopic) - TBD

Zendaya has become one of the biggest stars on the planet in the years since showing off her vocal skills in The Greatest Showman, and soon, she’ll get to exhibit that range once again when she plays one of the most iconic singers of the 20th century. In March 2025, Deadline announced that the Spider-Man: No Way Home and Challengers star will be playing the late Ronnie Spector in Be My Baby, the upcoming A24 movie directed by Barry Jenkins.

Zendaya has been attached to the role for some years, and even penned a moving tribute to the “Be My Baby” singer upon her death in 2022. She has a huge year this year, with movies like The Drama, The Odyssey, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and Dune III (not to mention Season 3 of Euphoria), and she indicated recently that she might be taking a break after all that, so the status of this one seems up in the air.

Rosetta (Sister Rosetta Tharpe Biopic) - TBD

After spending the past few years tearing it up on the pop charts, the multi-talented Lizzo will soon turn her attention to the big screen when she leads an upcoming biopic about one of the most influential figures in American music history: Sister Rosetta Tharpe. In March 2025, Deadline reported that the Grammy Award-winning singer and rapper has been tasked with playing Tharpe in Amazon MGM Studios’ Rosetta, a long-overdue drama about the gospel singer who helped craft rock n’ roll and R&B nearly 100 years ago.

Inspired by Tharpe’s incredible life story, the movie will reportedly follow the trailblazing musician as she shatters boundaries and navigates societal restraints while concealing her relationship with the woman she loves.

Madonna Biographical Drama Series - TBD

Madonna is one of the most successful, influential, and prolific singers of all time, and it’s wild that the artist behind “Material Girl,” “Papa Don’t Preach,” and “Vogue” hasn’t gotten the biopic treatment at this point. Well, it’s not for a lack of trying, as she has been working on getting a drama about her life off the ground since 2020. Though there have been some hiccups and unforeseen obstacles along the way, it sounds like it’s in the works yet again.

Now it appears as if Madonna will be teaming up with Shawn Levy to bring her story to the small screen at some point in the future. In May 2025, Deadline reported that the two are teaming up with Netflix for a limited series about the transformative singer’s life and career.

Boy George Biopic - TBD

There are so many biopics about transformative ‘80s artists, both already released and in the works, and soon Boy George will be added to the mix. In 2024, Deadline reported that TriStar Pictures was moving forward with a biographical drama about the lead singer of Culture Club, known for hit songs like “Karma Chameleon” and “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me,” with J.C. Lee working on the script. The movie is said to be based on George’s autobiographies, Take It Like a Man, Straight, and Karma.

And, there’s no need to worry about the movie not featuring any of Boy George or Culture Club’s famous tracks, as Primary Wave Music, which owns the rights, is producing the biopic. The current status of the production is unknown.

Keith Moon Biopic - TBD

There has been talk of a biographical drama about the late Who drummer Keith Moon for 20 years at this point, but it sounds like the long-in-the-works project is finally getting closer to becoming a reality. In 2023, Who frontman Roger Daltrey told NME that he had completed a script for the film and was waiting for replies from directors.

Later on, in 2024, Daltrey gave a similar update to Ultimate Classic Rock when he said the script was written and that he was trying to work with the best available director (“all the good ones are always working”). There have been no updates since then, however.

Unforgettable (Nat King Cole Biopic) - TBD

Colman Domingo, who is currently in theaters as Joe Jackson in Michael, has been on a tear as of late, and that momentum will hopefully be enough to get his long-in-the-works Nat King Cole biopic into theaters sooner rather than later. In January 2024, the Michael and Euphoria star told Variety’s Awards Circuit Podcast that the movie, which he is attached to lead and direct, is something he’s been working on quietly for several years and something he’s looking forward to putting together.

According to Variety, this isn’t the first time the multi-talented star has crafted a project based on the “Unforgettable” singer, as Domingo previously co-wrote the play Lights Out: Nat King Cole, which followed the singer during his 1957 Christmas special, the first of its kind hosted by an African American performer. In February 2026, Deadline reported the movie was being pitched as being PG-13 in order to reach a larger audience.

Shout It Out Loud (Kiss) - TBD

KISS, one of the biggest rock bands (and brands) of all time, will be getting the biopic treatment at some point in the future, as Deadline has reported that McG is slated to direct Shout It Out Loud, a film based on the life and career of the iconic outfit. Details about the movie are scarce at this point in its development, but considering the history and iconography that made the Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley-led rock group so legendary over the past 50 years, this could be a flashy, splashy, and over-the-top rock pic.

In June 2025, Deadline reported that Nick Jonas would be playing guitarist and vocalist Paul Stanley, but there’s no word on who’ll be playing the other members of KISS.

Janis Joplin Biopic - TBD

Despite being one of the most transformative and beloved singers of the ‘60s counter-culture movement, Janis Joplin has never been the subject of a biographical drama, though there have been numerous attempts. Well, that will soon change as Variety has reported that Big Little Lies star Shailene Woodley is set to play the “Piece of My Heart” singer in an untitled biopic.

The singer, who’s remembered for her electric performances and powerful voice, passed away in October 1970, joining the ranks of other famous musicians like Jim Morrison and Jimi Hendrix who passed away at the age of 27.

Frank Sinatra Biopic - TBD

One of the most exciting music biographical dramas in the works, Martin Scorsese’s Frank Sinatra biopic will focus on the life and career of the iconic crooner and actor who dominated American music and pop culture throughout the 20th century. Though details are limited at this point, Variety reported in April 2024 that the Killers of the Flower Moon director was looking to make the movie one of his next two projects and that longtime collaborator Leonardo DiCaprio was being eyed for the lead role alongside Jennifer Lawrence.

Though it seemed like production was going to get underway in 2024, Variety reported in September that filming had been postponed along with a couple of Scorsese’s other projects. Leo provided an update at the 2026 Santa Barbara Film Festival (via World of Reel) in February 2026, where he said it was “still in the works, still in the works.”

Linda Ronstadt Biopic - TBD

Linda Ronstadt, the 11-time Grammy winner behind iconic tracks like “You’re No Good,” “Somewhere Out There,” and “Blue Bayou,” will be getting the biopic treatment at some point in the future, and the actress tied to portraying her has us very excited. In January 2024, Rolling Stone confirmed that Only Murders in the Building star Selena Gomez was attached to star in the untitled movie after she shared an image of Ronstadt’s Simple Dreams memoir on her Instagram page.

Gomez told The Hollywood Reporter in 2024 that the movie was still happening, but she didn’t know when it would all go down. Though we still don’t know when things will get going, World of Reel confirmed in March 2025 that Miramax had acquired the rights and that David O. Russell is still in talks to direct. Fingers crossed.

Less pricey than those expensive cryotherapy treatments but more convenient than polar plunging oneself into a freezing ocean, ice baths have become a popular wellness go-to for the Hollywood A-list, from noted almond mom, vaginal-health guru and Goop founder Gwyneth Paltrow to professional athletes like LeBron James, Cristian Ronaldo and Naomi Osaka.

Ice baths are pretty self-explanatory: they're a form of cold therapy where a person submerges themself in a bath or vessel filled with ice or ice water for a limited duration of time. Though ice baths have risen in popularity among the rich and famous only recently, they've been utilized for centuries—in Scandanavian countries, for example, it's customary to follow up a hot sauna session with a plunge into a freezing cold pool— and the purported therapeutic benefits are numerous, from reducing muscle soreness to aiding in pain management to reducing inflammation. 

Though far brisker and (likely less) relaxing than those scenic outdoor baths and cushy indoor jacuzzi favored by other celebrities (that bath looks mighty balmy, JLo), it's clear that the demand for ice baths is heating up among showbiz's most notable names. Here are some famous folks who count themselves as fans, plus the health and fitness benefits they proclaim to gain from the cold-water immersion trend. 

Which Celebrities Are Big Proponents Of Ice Baths?

Lebron James

Ice baths seems to be gaining popularity across many disciplines in the entertainment industry, but cold-water immersion is probably best-known as a method of speeding up muscle recovery and reducing swelling and tissue breakdown for professional athletes. 

One of the true NBA GOATs, Los Angeles Lakers power forward LeBron James, has a long history with using cold temps for post-game recovery, from whole-body cryotherapy to waist-deep ice baths. Though he jokingly called the latter "borderline torture," per Business Insider, the basketball icon has regularly publicized his use of those glacial soaks after a grueling game on his Instagram. 

The Kardashian And Jenner Clan

It's not only pro athletes who seek out the bod-boosting benefits of cold plunges. Members of the Kardashian clan have famously adopted the ice-bath trend as a method of self-care, with sisters Kendall Jenner, Kourtney Kardashian and Kim Kardashian all seeking out the chilly services of Remedy Place, a "social wellness club" with locations in West Hollywood and NYC's Flatiron neighborhoods. 

The wellness center reportedly does house calls, which Jenner took advantage of with a portable Remedy Place ice bath at her own home in California. 

Big sis Kourtney apparently liked the at-home treatment so much she installed her own private ice bath at her Calabasas abode with husband Travis Barker, to the tune of $7,500, reports The Sun. She even hosted an entire ice-bath activation at her brand's Poolside with Poosh event, where the reality star and her famous siblings and friends were challenged to take a dip in a barrel bath filled with icy water.

Per The Daily Mail, Kim Kardashian initially didn't enjoy the frosty sensation, jumping out of the ice bath and jokingly dubbing herself "the weakest link" of the group. However, an Instagram video proves that the SKIMs mogul would later learn to love the benefits of ice bath, as she stopped into a Remedy Place location for an icy, full six-minute dip.

Madonna

Many popular musicians, whose bodies have to withstand exhausting touring schedules and high-energy, multi-hour live performances, have also adopted the practice as a conditioning tool. 

Her "Madgesty" herself, Madonna, has been one of pop music's most enduring and dynamic entertainers for decades, and the key to that longevity might just be in the singer's dedication to her physical fitness. Post-show ice baths are one element the 65-year-old performer famously includes in her wellness regimen to help soothe any aches and pains she might have from all of those hours of intense dance choreography. 

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga has long admitted to following in Madge's footsteps, and it looks like her self-care routine is no exception. Mother Monster maintains her own performance levels with a nightly post-show routine centered around a cold plunge. 

The singer broke down the post-show wellness routine she implemented during her Las Vegas concert residency, which includes what's called a "contrast bath," an icy bath alternated with a hot bath. Gaga wrote on Instagram:

The "Born This Way" singer has been candid about her struggles with fibromyalgia, a chronic condition that can cause widespread pain and tenderness throughout the body. In her 2017 Netflix documentary Gaga: Five Foot Two, the Oscar winner described the illness as a "cyclone of anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, and panic disorder," so she could very well be utilizing the baths as much for their mental health properties as their physical benefits. 

Harry Styles

Harry Styles is also a big fan of a cold-water plunge, both out in nature and in the comfort of a private ice bath. The former boy bander has been regularly spotted by eagle-eyed fans taking frigid outdoor swims, such as at Vico Baths in South Dublin. He also has been known to employ an indoor cold plunge after getting offstage from his high-octane live performances, including his world-spanning Love on Tour gigs. He showed off his ice-bath set-up following a Cologne concert on his Instagram in June 2022. 

Lizzo

Styles' famous buddy Lizzo has also jumped on the ice-bath bandwagon, displaying her own outdoor cold plunge over on her TikTok: 

And, seeing as how she's explored nearly every wellness trend from dry brushing to oil pulling, it's not a surprise that wellness queen Gwyneth Paltrow also has a custom cold-plunge pool in her elaborate home spa in Montecito, California. 

Yet it is a surprise that, though Gwyn once sought out the "Iceman" expertise of Wim Hof to teach Goop staffers the benefits of cold therapy in her Netflix docuseries The Goop Lab with Gwyneth Paltrow, it's actually Paltrow's husband, Hollywood producer Brad Falchuk, who is the "obsessive cold plunger" in the family. 

What Do Kim K And Other Celebs Say About Ice Baths?

It's one thing to jump on a Hollywood trend, but it's another if that Hollywood trend actually works. And according to cold-plunging celebrities, they're really feeling the body benefits of ice baths. The Good Place star Kristen Bell has said that she seeks out ice baths for its help with "mental acuity and alertness throughout the day," with cold plunging shown to "increase dopamine concentrations by 250 percent." 

In the aforementioned TikTok, Lizzo hypes up the anti-inflammation benefits of ice baths, captioning the clip:

Tennis great Naomi Osaka has also exalted the restorative properties of ice baths, but like Gaga, she combines the practice with a warm bath following those intense matches. As she told Vogue, it "flushes the lactic acid" out of her system:

As with any wellness trend, you're going to want to do your research before taking the plunge—literally, in this case. Every once in a while, the folks at Studio 8H book an SNL host who's note an actor and ends up nailing it and many of these examples include people who make music for a living. On other occasions, the artist serving as that night’s musical guest may make an appearance in a sketch or two to show the world that they can be funny, too. Single Ladies Video Shoot (Beyoncé)

In this fictionalized behind-the-scenes look at the legendary “Single Ladies” video, Beyoncé is shocked and annoyed by the director (host Paul Rudd) and his decision to make her back-up dancers three grown men who turn out to be his stepsons. This Season 34 favorite is actually a twofer that ended up happening because, as MTV News recalls, the former N*SYNCer convinced Queen B to participate in the sketch by showing up at her Studio 8H dressing room in the very leotard he wears alongside Andy Samberg and Bobby Moynihan.

SNL Digital Short: Jack Sparrow (Michael Bolton)

The music video for the fourth track off The Lonely Island’s sophomore album, Turtleneck & Chain, starts off as an unusually earnest effort for the trio. That is until their guest singer, Grammy-winner Michael Bolton, starts throwing in references to the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and later, other cinematic favorites like Forrest Gump and Scarface. For its masterful handling of a truly random idea and irresistibly catchy hook, “Jack Sparrow” is easily one of The Lonely Island’s best music videos and perhaps, some of Bolton’s all-time best work.

Africa Tourism (Adele)

For reasons that are never quite clear — perhaps Kate McKinnon’s accent or the sensuous ways she says “tribesman” — host Adele could not stop laughing while performing in a fake ad for African tourism. Nonetheless, the Oscar-winning,  impeccable James Bond theme song (“Skyfall”) singer’s gigglish reaction — complete with a priceless cross-eyed gaze — is just what makes this Season 46 sketch so memorable.

The Old West (Elton John)

When Elton John hosted SNL during Season 36, he appeared as himself for most of the night, except for in one sketch that proved he can be as much a maestro with comedy as he can be with the keys. The Grammy-winner pokes fun at himself, too, by playing a flamboyantly dressed cowboy, who rides into a small western saloon on a unicorn.

Please Don't Destroy: Three Sad Virgins (Taylor Swift)

In one of Please Don’t Destroy’s most popular SNL bits, the guys are, at first, excited to collaborate with Pete Davidson until their music video becomes a roast at the trio’s expense. “Three Sad Virgins” only gets more “humiliating” when they reach the slowed-down bridge, courtesy of Taylor Swift, whom PDD never imagined would agree to star in the video in the first place.

Mick is Pointing, Pointing, Pointing at Himself (Mick Jagger)

In the early 2000s, when The Rolling Stones returned as musical guest, lead singer Mick Jagger starred in a sketch as himself opposite Jimmy Fallon as the artist’s reflection. The future Tonight Show host’s impersonation of the legendary rock star sitting across from him is so hilariously convincing that even Jagger can’t help but crack a smile.

Pippa Visits the Queen (Katy Perry)

It's surprising that Katy Perry hasn't hosted SNL more often — let alone acted in more things outside the Smurfs movies — given how well she demonstrated her comedic skills on the show in 2011. The grandest highlight is when she dons a Cockney accent to play Pippa Middleton in a sketch poking fun at the Royal Family.

Pandora Radio (Bruno Mars)

Admittedly, the concept of this sketch — in which a Pandora radio employee (played by host Bruno Mars) must sing like artists such as Justin Bieber and Michael Jackson when the website crashes — doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. But who cares? Watching the Grammy-winning hitmaker kill it with his spot-on musical impersonations is stunning.

Hotel Ad (Billie Eilish)

Both Billie Eilish — someone we’d love to see return to SNL as both host and musical guest — and her brother and bandmate, Finneas, star in this funny fake ad for a hotel that is a little too open about the alarming activity that takes place there. The Grammy and Oscar winner is very funny in the sketch but cannot stifle her laughter, which is understandable when Kate McKinnon is your scene partner.

The Barry Gibb Talk Show (Justin Timberlake)

We could not have picked a sketch featuring pop sensation-turned-master thespian Justin Timberlake — already one of the all-time greatest SNL hosts — without making sure Jimmy Fallon was also involved with it. Thus, it was easy to pick “The Barry Gibb Talk Show,” in which Fallon, as The Bee Gees’ lead vocalist, hosts a political discussion program featuring his most silent brother, Robin (Timberlake). 

Stevie Wonder Impersonator (Stevie Wonder)

After demonstrating his own wonderful impersonation of Stevie Wonder, Eddie Murphy shared the stage with the musical genius himself in a classic sketch from 1983. The future Academy Award-nominated SNL star plays an expert in impersonations, who is asked to help improve the Stevie Wonder impression of a man played by Wonder himself.

Judge Barry (Chance The Rapper)

Having only appeared on SNL four times — twice as a host and twice as a musical guest, each for different episodes — Chance the Rapper has already proven himself to be worthy of the hosting hall of fame, especially with this courtroom sketch. Before Jason Momoa rips open his shirt and steals the show, the hip-hop artist is fantastic as a judge who bases his rulings only on first impressions.

Parole Board (Blake Shelton)

When appearing as host and musical guest during SNL’s 40th season, country music superstar Blake Shelton demonstrated surprisingly impressive acting chops. He was in a sketch that initially seems to recreate a classic scene from the great Stephen King movie The Shawshank Redemption. However, a parole board member played by the former Voice coach bluntly reveals that Kenan Thompson’s prisoner has committed an unforgivable offense that leaves him with very little chance of freedom.

Blizzard Man (Ludacris)

To give his new album an extra boost, Ludacris (as himself) brings in a fabled hip-hop artist known as the Blizzard Man (Andy Samberg), who, as it turns out, cannot rap and does not even bother to rhyme his aggressively lame lyrics. The veteran of the Fast and Furious movies later appears alongside T-Pain in another edition of this sketch that is only made funnier by the fact that Samberg is totally capable of dropping some sick rhymes.

Parents Call (Halsey)

In host and musical guest Halsey’s monologue for her Season 44 episode, she described herself as an SNL fanatic, and her performance throughout the show really proves it. The Sing 2 cast member’s admiration for the show is especially evident when she dons a comically exaggerated New Jersey accent as a woman having an awkward, revealing phone call with her son (played by Mikey Day) in this sketch.

SNL Digital Short: Shy Ronnie (Rihanna)

In SNL’s 35th season, musical guest Rihanna teamed up with The Lonely Island for the first time on a Digital Short starring Andy Samberg as the title character. The comic plays a man who is too nervous to rap… as long as the “Umbrella” singer is in the room. It garnered a sequel called, “Shy Ronnie 2: Ronnie & Clyde,” featuring Rihanna and Samberg dressed as Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway’s titular roles from 1967’s Bonne and Clyde.

Bond Casino Showdown (Tim McGraw)

We knew Tim McGraw could act from his roles in movies like The Blind Side and Country Strong, but never realized just how funny he could be when he hosted in Season 34. The hilarious peak of the 1883 cast member’s episode is a James Bond movies parody in which a vacationing redneck (McGraw) participates in a poker tournament with 007 (Bill Hader) and Le Chiffre (Fred Armisen).

SNL Digital Short: I'm On A Boat (T-Pain)

When Andy Samberg finds a winning ticket a boat ride for three in his cereal box, he invites fellow Lonely Islander Akiva Shaffer but skips over Jorma Taccone to select T-Pain. The rapper, famous for his use of auto-tune, is key to making the other ridiculous “I’m on a Boat” video a celebrated anthem for taking it easy while cruising through water.

The Train Poet (Johnny Cash)

One of the first musical artists to try their hand at acting as an SNL host was Johnny Cash, who actually only starred in three sketches from his Season 7 episode (two of which he never speaks in). Yet when the legendary “Man in Black” stars as a train passenger expressing his fond memories of his commute in a rhyming monologue, he really gives it all.

Rap Roundtable (Questlove) 

In one of Questlove’s most notable cameos, The Roots drummer participates in a panel of hip-hop artists also including Queen Latifah (Pinkie Johnson) and two up-and-comers (Pete Davidson and Timothée Chalamet), who clearly don’t know anything about the genre. What really helps ease this almost terrible SNL sketch to something amazing is when the Academy Award-winning director of Summer of Soul puts an end to the young “rapper’s” mindless ramblings by striking them with his hair pick.

Wayne's World: Aerosmith (Aerosmith)

Many would agree that Wayne Campbell from “Wayne’s World” — which inspired one of the funniest SNL movies — is still one of Mike Myers’ best characters. But deciding on the recurring sketch’s peak moment is a bit trickier. Ultimately, we have to go with the time Aerosmith — with help from their roadie and Garth’s (Dana Carvey) cousin, Barry (one of Tom Hanks’ best SNL characters) — appeared on the no-budget cable access program and performed their own rendition of the theme song.

Punk Band Reunion At The Wedding (Dave Grohl)

Dave Grohl appears in a sketch or two nearly every time he and the Foo Fighters perform, but, arguably, his best SNL bit comes from when he played with Them Crooked Vultures — a supergroup he formed with Josh Homme and John Paul Jones. The former Nirvana drummer became a part of another band that night consisting of Fred Armisen, Bill Hader and host Ashton Kutcher in a sketch that sees aging punk rockers bring the house down at a wedding reception.

Spider-Man Kiss (Chris Martin) 

In one of the most popular sketches on SNL’s YouTube Channel, a dramatized inside-look at the making of 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 reveals that then-real-life-couple Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone (both playing themselves) had some trouble shooting their climactic kissing scene. The solution: bringing in Chris Martin — frontman of the night’s musical guest, Coldplay — to don a blonde wig and take Stone’s place.

Hamm & Bublé (Michael Bublé)

This SNL sketch prominently featuring the A-list host, Jon Hamm, is framed as an ad for a new eatery co-owned by the Mad Men cast member and musical guest, Michael Bublé, called Hamm and Bublé (pronounced “bubbly” by Hamm). However, as the Canadian crooner reveals in song, he thinks the restaurant’s concept — serving ham with champagne — is ridiculous and is being forced into the business against his will.

SNL Digital Short: Boombox (Julian Casablancas)

One of The Lonely Island’s most unique collaborations saw Julian Casablancas — lead singer of Manhattan-based rock band The Strokes — provide vocals for the hip-hop trio’s 2010 song, “Boombox.” The video, which premiered on SNL in Season 35, sees Andy Samberg and Casablancas attempting to rescue strangers from mundane scenarios with the power of music, only for us to discover by the ending that is was a “cautionary tale” all along.

Spelling Bee (Tenacious D)

In a sketch that was partially mprovised and conceived by SNL star Will Forte, a young spelling bee contestant’s attempt to spell the word “business” results in an astonishing failure — consisting of an innumerable amount of random letters spouted for more than a minute. Suddenly, host Jack Black appears with his Tenacious D bandmate, Kyle Gass, to perform a song revealing that the bit was inspired by an embarrassing moment from the School of Rock star’s childhood (which is not true, by the way).

Little Drummer Boy (Whitney Houston)

In one of Molly Shannon’s most iconic appearances as Mary Katherine Gallagher, the overly ambitious Catholic school student struggles to out-sing her rival choir member, who happens to be played by the night’s uber-talented musical guest, Whitney Houston. Shannon recalled to Howard Stern (via YouTube) how she was actually able to convince the initially reluctant Houston to appear in the bit by telling her she just had to act “snotty.”

Garth Brooks Backstage With Tracy (Garth Brooks)

The second time Garth Brooks hosted SNL, the musical guest was his own rock star alter ego, Chris Gaines — a bizarre concept that earned mixed reactions in the late ‘90s. The country singer showed he had sense of humor about it all by participating in a sketch taking place backstage with Tracy Morgan, who criticizes Gaines in front of Brooks, unaware that they are the same person.

Waking Up With Kimye: Apple Genius (Lady Gaga)

When Kim Kardashian and Kanye West were still married, SNL had a recurring sketch that starred Jay Pharaoh and Nasim Pedrad as the celebrity couple hosting their own morning talk show. One edition featured host Lady Gaga as an Apple Store employee who makes a cleverly self-effacing comment about the true intentions of people who “try too hard with their outfits.”

Wayne's World (Madonna)

In one of many of Wayne Campbell’s (Mike Myers) iconic interactions with famous musicians, the cable access program host recalls the time he shared a romantic encounter with none other than Madonna. Garth (Dana Carvey) gets to experience the memory first-hand in the pre-taped bit, which also features a random cameo by the late Prince.

Orchestra (Lizzo)

Lizzo is famous for three unique talents: playing the flute, twerking, and performing both acts at the same time. That simultaneous mastery is demonstrated beautifully in a sketch from her Season 47 episode in which she plays an orchestra hopeful who is unable to play the flout without twerking.

Gangnam Style (Psy)

In SNL’s Season 38 premiere, host Seth MacFarlane starred in a sketch as a Lids clerk who tries to cheer up his co-worker (played by Kenan Thompson) by summoning Psy to perform “Gangnam Style” at the push of a button. Bobby Moynihan plays the viral K-pop sensation for most of the segment until the man himself appears in a surprise cameo at the very end.

Celebrities are naturally attracted to other celebrities. They work together and run in the same circles, so it's not strange that they would marry each other often. Here's a list of examples of stars that have been married more than once to other famous people.

Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez has been married four times, including twice to fellow celebrities. The Latin superstar married another superstar, Marc Anthony in 2004, after her engagement to Ben Affleck ended. Lopez has twins with Anthony, and the two divorced in 2014. “Bennifer” fans rejoiced when they rekindled their flame in 2021 and finally married in 2022, twenty years after they first dated. Sadly, it wouldn't last and the couple divorced in early 2025 after separating in April 2024.

Elizabeth Taylor

There is no more famous Hollywood bride than the great Elizabeth Taylor. The global superstar was married seven times in her life, including twice to actor Richard Burton. Before marrying Burton, she was wed to singer (and father of Carrie Fisher), Eddie Fisher. Her first marriage was to hotelier Conrad Hilton, Jr. and later in life, she married Senator John Warner.

Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise’s marriage to Katie Holmes is his most infamous relationship, but before Holmes, the Mission: Impossible star was hitched to Nicole Kidman, after they starred together in Days of Thunder. Tom Cruise’s first wife was Bosch star Mimi Rogers, whom he married in 1987 and divorced in 1990.

Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie met her first famous husband on the set of one of her first movies, Hackers. She married co-star Jonny Lee Miller in 1996. With the ink barely dry on her divorce from Miller, she began a whirlwind romance with Billy Bob Thornton, which led to a Las Vegas wedding in 2000, with the relationship ending in divorce in 2003. Jolie’s most publicized marriage was to long-time boyfriend Brad Pitt, whom she married in 2014 after dating for nine years. Together they have six children.

Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian has been married three times. First to record producer Damon Thomas, then NBA star Kris Humphries for two years. In 2014 she married rap superstar Kanye West and together they have four children. Of course, much of their wild marriage was documented on Keeping Up With The Kardashians, until the two split in 2022 in one of the most high-profile divorces of all time.

Scarlett Johansson

Two of the biggest superhero movie stars, Black Widow’s Scarlett Johansson, and Deadpool’s Ryan Reynolds were married from 2008 until 2011. When they split, Johansson married French ad exec Romain Dauriac, before divorcing in 2017. In 2021 Johansson married SNL star Colin Jost, whom she has one child with.

Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman was married to Tom Cruise from 1990-2001. The two have two adopted children together. After her breakup with Cruise, Kidman dated Lenny Kravitz and was engaged for a short time to the singer. The Big Little Lies star wed Country musician Keith Urban in 2006 and they’ve been happily married ever since.

Mariah Carey

“All I Want For Christmas Is You” is one of the most enduring Christmas songs of all time, but sadly both of Mariah Carey's marriages to celebrities have been less so. Her first marriage, to music business tycoon Tommy Mottola, lasted five years, from ‘93 to ‘98. She walked down the aisle with America’s Got Talent star Nick Cannon in 2008, but after eight years and two kids (twins), the couple walked away from each other in 2016.

Brad Pitt

It’s appropriate that one of the biggest stars on the planet, Brad Pitt, would also be in two of the most high-profile marriages of all time. Pitt married America’s sweetheart, Friends star Jennifer Aniston, in 2000. Their breakup in 2005 amidst Pitt’s rumored relationship with Angelina Jolie was one of the most widely covered stories in the tabloids of all time. Pitt married Jolie in 2014 after years of dating, but it too ended in divorce, in 2019.

Frank Sinatra

Old Blue Eyes, as Frank Sinatra is often called, charmed actress Ava Gardner with those eyes into marriage in 1951, though it was to be short-lived, as they split less than two tumultuous years later and were completely divorced by 1954. Sinatra married another actress, Mia Farrow, in 1966 who was 29 years his junior. They divorced less than two years later but apparently stayed very close for the rest of his life.

Rebecca Romijn

X-Men star Rebecca Romijn has been married to two famous people. Her first wedding was to John Stamos in 1998. She even changed her name to Rebecca Romijn-Stamos. The beautiful couple split up in 2005 and two years later, in 2007, Romijn married actor Jerry O’Connell.

Pamela Anderson

What more can be said about Baywatch star Pamela Anderson’s personal life that isn’t already out there in the zeitgeist? Anderson has been married five times over the years, her first husband was Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee. She married another musician later, Kid Rock. She’s also been married to poker player Rick Salomon, film producer Jon Peters, and her former bodyguard, Dan Hayhurst.

James Cameron

James Cameron has directed some of Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters, and he’s had two big-time Hollywood marriages as well. His first was to fellow director Kathryn Bigelow that lasted three years in the late '80s/early ‘90s. His second was to actor Linda Hamilton, the star of Cameron’s Terminator films. The two were together for seven years but only married the last two before divorcing in 1997.

Lisa Bonet

Lisa Bonet was a big deal in the late ‘80s and some part of that was due to her high-profile marriage to musician Lenny Kravitz. After six years of marriage, and one child, Zoe Kravitz, who you may have heard of, the two split in 1993. In 2005, she began dating Aquaman star Jason Momoa. The two finally wed in 2017, but sadly separated in 2022, after having two children together during their relationship.

Rick Salomon

Professional poker player Rick Salomon is the least famous person on this list, but he has been married to three very famous people. His first wife was actress E. G. Daily, better known as the voice of Tommy Pickles on Rugrats. His second wife was the great Shannen Doherty, and his third wife was Pamela Anderson, whom he married and divorced twice.

Cher

Cher broke into show business alongside her first famous husband, the late Sonny Bono. Just days after her divorce was settled with Bono, Cher married another musician, Allman Brothers Band singer and keyboardist Gregg Allman. They divorced in 1978, but by then she was already living with KISS bass player Gene Simmons, though they never married.

Blake Shelton

NBC’s The Voice is not only responsible for launching the careers of singers like Morgan Wallen and Melanie Martinez but also for bringing together two of the coaches, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani. The two married in 2021 after falling in love on the show. Both had been married before to famous people. Stefani to Bush lead singer Gavin Rossdale and Shelton to country star Miranda Lambert.

Ryan Reynolds

Ryan Reynolds is one of the most famous people on earth these days, so it’s appropriate that he’s been married to multiple famous people. First to Scarlett Johansson from 2008-2011 and then to Blake Lively, whom he has been married to since 2012.

Heather Locklear

It’s pretty easy to say Heather Locklear has a “type.” The actor, and 1980s superstar, married Tommy Lee in 1986. The couple divorced in 1993 and Locklear married another famous ‘80s rocker, Bon Jovi guitar player Richie Sambora. Together with Sambora, she has one daughter, Ava Sambora.

Demi Moore

Demi Moore was married and divorced by the time she turned 18. Her first husband, musician Freddy Moore, was never really famous, but her next husbands certainly are. Moore married Bruce Willis in 1987 and the couple had three children together, including Once Upon a Time in Hollywood actor Rumer Willis. After Moore and Willis' amicable divorce in 2000, Moore eventually started dating Ashton Kutcher, who is 16 years younger than her. The two were married for eight years before splitting in 2013.

Ashton Kutcher

Ashton Kutcher's first wife was Demi Moore, and his second was Mila Kunis. Moore and Kutcher had a rocky go of it, but still managed to last eight years. When they divorced, Kutcher found his way back to an old friend and former co-star on That ‘70s Show, Mila Kunis. The two were engaged in 2014 and married in 2015 after Kunis gave birth to their first child. A second kid would come along in 2016, and they are still a happy family.

Marilyn Monroe

There are few stars bigger, and with a more enduring legacy, than the legendary Marilyn Monroe. Monroe was married to a police officer named James Dougherty when she was in her early 20s, but it was after she found fame in the 1950s that she ended up marrying two very famous people. In 1954 she married New York Yankee great Joe DiMaggio. Though the two were only married for just over a year, their friendship lasted the rest of her life. In 1956, Monroe, at the height of her fame, married playwright Arthur Miller. They would be married for 5 years, before divorcing in 1961. Monroe died in 1962 at age 36.

Nicolas Cage

Nicolas Cage married Patricia Arquette in 1995 as both were on career hot streaks. The marriage lasted six years, and the couple broke up in 2001. One year later, Cage married his second famous person, the late Lisa Marie Presley. Cage and Presley’s marriage would be incredibly short-lived, filing for divorce just 107 days later, which was finalized in 2004.

Lisa Marie Presley

Before Lisa Marie tragically died in 2023 at the young age of 54, she was famously married four times, including two very highly publicized marriages to famous men. Her first marriage to Danny Keough lasted six years. Her second marriage, to the King Of Pop himself, Michael Jackson, lasted less than two. Still, she went on to an even shorter marriage to actor Nicolas Cage, which lasted less than four months before they filed for divorce in 2002.

Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer Aniston became one of the biggest stars in television history when she starred in Friends. That stardom led to a very high-profile marriage with Brad Pitt in 2000. Aniston and Pitt’s divorce in 2005 was tabloid fodder for months (and even years), but the actress eventually found her way back to marriage with another actor, Justin Theroux, whom she married in 2015. The two split in 2017, but have remained friends.

Madonna

When Madonna married actor Sean Penn in 1985 it was a huge deal. The gossip pages were filled with details about their romance, but sadly, the marriage only lasted about four years. More than a decade later, after numerous rumors and stories about her dating life, Madonna settled down again, this time with British director Guy Ritchie. Ritchie and Madonna have two sons together but divorced in 2008.

Melanie Griffith

Melanie Griffith is Hollywood royalty as the daughter of The Birds star Tippi Hedron. She married her first husband Don Johnson before either was famous, in 1976, though the marriage would last less than a year. The two would reconnect years later and marry again in 1989. In Between, she was married to Breaking Bad actor Steven Bauer. Johnson and Griffith would divorce in 1996 and Griffith married Antonio Banderas later that same year. Griffith and Banderas divorced in 2015.

Eddie Fisher

Eddie Fisher’s first marriage, to actress Debbie Reynolds, produced his most famous child, Carrie Fisher. That marriage was doomed when he infamously had an affair with Elizabeth Taylor, whom he married in 1959. Five years later the couple would divorce and Fisher married singer Connie Stevens in 1967.

Ali MacGraw

Ali MacGraw was a budding star when she married notorious producer movie Robert Evans, who was played by Matthew Goode in The Offer. As shown in that show, that marriage broke up when she left him for Steve McQueen. She and McQueen married in 1973 but divorced in 1978. She hasn’t married since but has been in some high-profile relationships.

Will Arnett

Before Will Arnett became a household name in Hollywood, he had a truly whirlwind romance with actor Penelope Ann Miller. They started dating, got married, and then divorced within about three months in late 1994 and early 1995. His next marriage to a famous person lasted much longer when he married Amy Poehler in 2003. That marriage lasted until 2012.

Uma Thurman 

Uma Thurman burst onto the Hollywood scene in the early 1990s and at just 20 years old, she married fellow actor Gary Oldman. That marriage fell apart after just two years and Thurman didn’t marry again until 1998 when she walked down the aisle with Ethan Hawke, whom she met on the set of Gattaca. Thurman and Hawke have two kids together but split in 2003 before finalizing their divorce in 2005.

Jennifer Garner

The original “Bennifer” might have been Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez, but Bennifer 2.0 was in full swing when Affleck and Jennifer Garner got married in 2005. Their marriage produced three children and while they divorced in 2017, the two have remained very close. Before Affleck, Garner was married to Party of Five star Scott Foley for five years.

While some Hollywood marriages do indeed last the test of time, some simply do not. Many of the stars on this list have had long marriages to famous people, though most have not. Still, it’s better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all, as they say.

Considering just how hard it is to make in show business, it's remarkable how many celebrities have been good friends with other successful celebrities since before either was famous. Matt Damon and Ben Affleck

It’s probably the most famous friendship in Hollywood. Ben Affleck and Matt Damon grew up together in Cambridge, MA, and they’ve pretty much been besties ever since. They were even uncredited extras together in Field Of Dreams and both found early roles in School Ties together. Of course, in 1997 when they wrote and starred in Good Will Hunting together, their collective fame blew up. 

Al Gore and Tommy Lee Jones

Another set of long-time friends are former Vice President Al Gore and Tommy Lee Jones. They were roommates when they attended Harvard together. At the 2000 Democratic National Convention when the party nominated Gore to be its candidate for President, Jones said in a speech,

Christopher Reeve and Robin Williams were both taken from the world when they were too young. The two have more in common than tragedy though. Reeve and Williams forged a lifelong friendship after meeting as graduate students at Juilliard and rooming together while in school. Reeve even credited Williams with showing him that life would go on after a horse riding accident left him paralyzed. 

Madonna and Debi Mazar

Entourage star Debi Mazar and global superstar Madonna have been friends since the early ‘80s when they met in the hipster scene of the East Village and the dance clubs of New York City. They stayed friends since that time and Mazar has had Madonna’s back when internet trolls take shots at the pop music legend. Mazar also appeared in a number of Madonna’s early videos, like “Papa Don’t Preach.”

Ving Rhames and Stanley Tucci

Stanley Tucci and Ving Rhames were roommates as undergrads at SUNY Purchase. Tucci even gave Rhames his nickname, Ving, which is short for Erving. Rhames let the world in on that tidbit when he presented Tucci with a Golden Globe in 1998 for Tucci’s role in Winchell. The two have only worked on the same project together once though, 1995’s Kiss of Death. 

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler

Amy Poehler and Tiny Fey first met at the improv school Improv Olympic (now known as iO Theater) in the early ‘90s when they were both just starting out. In the years since, they’ve stayed friends and worked together a lot, including on SNL and hosting the Golden Globe Awards together. 

Brad Pitt and Sheryl Crow

Brad Pitt and Sheryl Crow have known each other since college. Pitt was a year behind Crow at the University of Missouri and according to Crow, they didn’t know each other well, but they did cross paths a lot, She worked with his fraternity during Greek Week and she was friends with his college girlfriend. She also jokes on the podcast that she dreamed she would marry Brad Pitt. 

Rick Moranis and Geddy Lee

Geddy Lee was the bass player and lead singer of Rush, one of the most popular bands of the last 50 years. Weirdly, his biggest hit wasn’t with Rush but was a song called “Take Off” that appeared on a Doug and Bob McKenzie album. He sang on the track because he’s been lifelong friends with Rick Moranis, who played Doug McKenzie. The two went to grade school together. 

Lauryn Hill and Zach Braff

Lauryn Hill attended Zach Braff’s bar mitzvah. You read that right. Common - Run All Night

While Common eventually got to hunt down Keanu Reeves’ titular assassin in John Wick: Chapter 2, he practiced his killer skills with another action vet: Liam Neeson. Run All Night pitted the rapping/acting talent against Mr. Neeson, and the war waged between the two men is something truly impressive to behold. 

Britney Spears - Crossroads

Not a girl, not yet a woman, and because of Britney Spears’ intense “method acting” in Crossroads, there was one more thing she wasn’t at the time: an actor. Though she’d eventually play a couple other roles here and there, preparing to star in this teenage drama road trip was enough to make Spears question how much she really wanted to act. 

Prince - Purple Rain

The world knows the many sides of Prince through his mythic career as a guitar god and musical boundary pusher. Purple Rain made that image all the stronger, as the man is basically playing himself, with some dramatic and comedic embellishment. The result is a movie that was a white hot success, and a powerful calling card in Prince's future endeavors on both sides of this fence.

While it’s not for everyone, actor/musician crossovers are always interesting to keep an eye out for. Both commanding successes and curious one-off scenarios are equally intriguing, as one never knows where the next success story will come from. Aspiring singers and actors alike take note: these cases we’ve just discussed are good studies to keep in mind when plotting your own course to stardom! 

In the midst of preparing and rehearsing for what's sure to be a slam-banger of a concert tour, pop icon Madonna was reportedly found unresponsive at a New York City residence on June 24, and spent the subsequent days hospitalized in the ICU due to what was described as a serious bacterial infection by her manager. As it has unfortunately gone in the recent past with Madonna-related stories, the news was followed by a rash of harsh social media comments, which were enough to spark a full-on defensive response from comedian and reality TV vet Kathy Griffin, who chastised the trolls while sharing love for the ailing Grammy winner.

Griffin shared a video on TikTok (and then later Instagram) in which she declares she's not a friend of Madonna's or anything of the sort, but still felt the need to speak up in her favor to oppose all the naysayers making fun of the singer's looks and offbeat social media videos. In Griffin's words:

To her point, a lot of social commentary about Madonna tends to fall under the debate of whether her age should factor into how she portrays herself in the same sexualized manner that she's embraced for basically her entire career. Which gets extended into criticisms and conversations about what beauty-related surgical work she may or may not have had done over the years. Which is distracting enough on a normal day, but is even more unfortunate when that kind of rampant judgment follows news about an illness and hospitalization. 

Madonna was taken out of ICU and put into a standard hospital room after several days, and she's expected to return to the stage for her tour, though the dates will now be delayed from what was previously announced. And Kathy Griffin, for one, is pumped that the show will go on, saying:

Madonna has been a huge inspiration for countless artists over the years, with James Cameron giving her credit for influencing Avatar's camera work, and was honored in quite the unique way when Evan Rachel Wood portrayed her in Roku's musical comedy Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. However, she faced a bit of blowback back in October 2022 for speaking that truth. When she pointed out that she laid the sexified groundwork for Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" video and Cardi B's "WAP" popularity, the latter rapper offered a fairly respectful clapback, though that would-be feud was quickly squashed after the two actually had a conversation. Suffice to say, comments like that are also fuel for haters to speak out against the 64-year-old phenom.

On top of her upcoming 84-date Celebration tour, which was initially set to kick off in Vancouver on July 15, Madonna was also set to be the subject of an upcoming biopic. But despite years of development going into the creative process and choreography training, the project was largely abandoned in January 2023 over difficulties bringing everything together. Here's hoping that Madonna is healthy enough to pull off the 40th anniversary tour with ease, whether or not a film or miniseries comes out of it.

For almost three years, development on a Madonna biopic has been progressing at Universal, with the woman herself commanding the director’s chair. While it may not have been a prospect to join the 2023 new movie releases, the work being done to bring her story to the screen was intense and included hours-long choreography sessions for those hoping to take part in the near future.

It sounds like all that work was for naught though, as the picture that was positioned to star Ozark’s Julia Garner has been hung up. The timing may be suspect to some, as the pop legend had recently announced a world tour playing her greatest hits. THR’s reporting has seemingly debunked any theories that this tour was the reason for cancelling what would have been a Madonna-directed project.

Apparently the writing’s been on the wall for this movie since late last year, with the project being allowed to attract other suitors through the turnaround process. As the source report goes on, other potential difficulties had beset telling the Madonna story on the big screen. 

Intending to span the entire history of her career in one film, the biopic was being discussed as a potential two-film event, or even a miniseries. According to the sources cited, the scripts for the film came in at a minimum of 180 pages, which was still pushing it when it came to the material that was set to be covered.

The timing of the breakdown for this project couldn’t have come at a worse time. After the recent announcement of 2023’s Oscar nominations, the good fortunes that have smiled on Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis could have been seen as a sign to proceed with this very project. On the other side of the coin, with the level of control Madonna would want to have over her own biopic, who knows how much longer the movie would have hung in development hell while working towards a compromise.

Admittedly, doing a cradle-to-grave retelling of any artist’s life is a daunting task. Swings and misses have come and gone on the Hollywood circuit, and for every Bohemian Rhapsody-style success there are other not so lucky films, like I Wanna Dance With Somebody, that fail to make a spark. Even if Madonna was a fan of the work that would have come out of her version of her life’s work, that’s not to say the world would have agreed.

As it stands, the Madonna movie is frozen. Gone like a ray of light, this breathless would-be blockbuster has taken a bow. Maybe we’ll see someone try their hand at chronicling her life again in the future, but for now, what could have been is nothing more than a beautiful stranger. Feuds between celebrities can be tricky to navigate. If not handled correctly, wars can be waged either quietly or on social media for years. However, when there’s mutual respect between the involved parties, misunderstandings can often be resolved with no hard feelings. The latter seems to be what happened between Madonna and Cardi B, after the rapper took issue with the A League of Their Own actress’ comments about paving the way for women like Cardi B, Kim Kardashian and Miley Cyrus in regards to sexuality in the media. 

With the feud already seemingly concluded over the course of the weekend, let’s take a look at what transpired between the music icons.

Why Were Madonna And Cardi B Feuding? 

The feud started after Madonna took to her Instagram Stories to reflect on the 30-year anniversary of her book S.E.X., saying that at the time she received a lot of criticism from people trying to shame her for sharing the naked images and for describing sexual fantasies and her take on sexuality. Spending years being called “a whore, a witch a heretic and the devil” blazed the trail for a new generation of women to embrace their sexuality, she said: 

The issue lies in the clown emoji, as surely nobody can argue the ways that Madonna injected sex into pop culture in ways that hadn’t been seen in the 1980s and ‘90s. Cardi B — who has temporarily left Twitter over previous spats — responded in a series of now-deleted tweets, arguing that her point could have been made without disrespecting other women. She said (via Variety): 

Cardi B said she was disappointed that someone she had respected growing up would have an attitude like Madonna appeared to show in her Instagram Stories. 

How Did The Singers Squash Their Beef? 

Soon after these exchanges, Hollywood Unlocked’s Jason Lee tweeted that he was on the phone with both women, whose conversation he said seemed to be expanding their respect for one another. Madonna and Cardi B appeared to support this narrative, with the “I Like It” singer sharing: 

No details of the conversation were divulged, but she seemed to be signaling to their fans that they could get on with their days after the “beautiful” sentiments were exchanged. The veteran musician-turned-actress returned the sentiment, not only showing love for the artist post-feud, but suggesting that the respect has always been there. Madonna tweeted:

Cardi B later took to Instagram Live to talk out the situation a little bit more, explaining why she was upset about the “Express Yourself” singer’s initial words and how she was feeling after talking it out with Madonna. You can see what she had to say below: 

It’s good to see the two women were able to talk this out civilly and (mostly) privately — as Madonna also did during a short-lived feud with Lady Gaga — in order to extinguish the flames before more gas was able to be thrown on the fire. It’s hard to see how there wouldn’t be common ground between artists who pushed (and are still pushing) the boundaries of what women can express through music and performance, each in their own time. 

The influence of pop music icon Madonna knows no bounds. She’s seemingly affected every inch of pop culture, from music to fashion to film. While her movie career has been on ice in recent years, others involved in the film industry have found inspiration from the pop singer. One of those people who's looked to the Grammy winner is actually Oscar-winning director James Cameron, and he did so when he began filming the Avatar franchise. But how did the singer influence the sci-fi film series?

When crafting the world of Pandora, it was James Cameron and his crew’s intention to create a marriage between human emotion and animation. Before production on the Oscar-nominated film began, the team had studied past motion capture-reliant films, including The Polar Express, to see what worked and what didn’t in those movies. Cameron’s producing partner, Jon Landau, revealed that making the 2009 film was about capturing realistic facial expressions. The lack of emotion glimpsed in other productions spurred Landau and Cameron to seek out the pop performer’s concert performances. The Hollywood producer spilled to NYT how watching Madonna’s performances influenced the fantasy epic:

Who knew the pop star was (unintentionally) responsible for motion capture’s advancement? If the "Like a Virgin" singer is known for one thing (outside of churning out catchy pop songs), it's putting on energetic and much-talked-about performances either during award shows or concerts in packed stadiums. The Grammy winner does full choreography while singing live and interacting with her audience, so one can understand why the filmmakers would look to her as a model for what's possible with motion capture.

When released over a decade ago, Avatar was praised for capturing the actors’ realistic facial expressions. This development was a revolution at the time after multiple films, including Beowulf and The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, used the technology to varying degrees of success. Using images of the actors allowed the animation team to keep Na’vi’s distinctive look without losing the emotions they convey. James Cameron spoke about the movie changing the landscape by amping up the number 3D films that get released. And on September 23, the game-changing film returns to theaters ahead of The Way of Water's release.

Believe it or not, making the OG film wasn't easy for James Cameron, as he even had to play the Titanic card to resolve creative differences with the studio. His fight was worth it, as the sci-fi fantasy epic went on to become the highest-grossing film of all time (without being adjusted for inflation) and score multiple Oscar nominations. Now, 12 years after the first movie, the filmmaker knows Avatar 2 will work, and viewers’ overwhelming response to The Way of Water's teaser trailer is a solid indicator of its success. 

The movie arrives in theaters on December 16 as part of the 2022 new movie release schedule, and one wonders if Madonna might hop over to a theater and check it out on the heels of this info being revealed.

As soon as it was announced that Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe was set to play pop icon Weird Al Yankovic, it was a given he’d be the center of attention for this movie. However, he’ll be sharing the spotlight with another phenomenal entertainer: Evan Rachel Wood, who will give her spot-on performance as Madonna. The Westwood actress discussed the fun way she prepared for Madonna in Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.

You may remember the Madonna-parodied song “Like a Surgeon,” which was featured in How I Met Your Mother, one of Weird Al Yankovic’s TV appearances. You’ll get to hear it again in Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, and Evan Rachel Wood explained to People at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival the “fun” way she got to prepare for her amusing role.

Evan Rachel Wood’s flawless impression of Madonna in the fictionalized biopic trailer says it all. She expressed that this project was so much fun for her that she was afraid she’d only want to do comedies next! Imagine the opportunity to go on set each day with that teased hair, wild outfits and glamorous makeup to play the popular ‘80s icon. The only thing Wood was disappointed about was not being able to keep those classic outfits of Madonna’s. Well, she’ll always have the memories of being one of the first “lucky stars” to play Madonna, as Emmy winner Julie Garner is next to take on that role in Madonna’s own biopic.

If there’s anything we can agree about Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, it’s that everyone in the cast is sure to bring their A-game. The Across the Universe star told Entertainment Weekly that in one scene, she was told to portray the “sociopathic” version of the “Material Girl” singer “on a lot of cocaine” as she uses Weird Al to get ahead in her career. Daniel Radcliffe was impressed with Wood’s performance in “committing a thousand percent” to the role. We’re in for some good fun with these characters as soon as the opening credits start.

Director Eric Appel hasn’t heard any reactions yet from the real Madonna about the movie. The Thirteen star hoped Madonna's good sense of humor would be enough for her to enjoy it, and Radcliffe agreed, as the 64-year-old singer would have the privilege to see her portrayed by the talented Emmy nominee.

It’s always a good sign when an actress talks about how much fun she had playing a role. We’ll be able to see the spark and energy of Evan Rachel Wood in the upcoming movie Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, which comes to the Roku Channel on November 4th. 

Though she is now in marital bliss with her newly minted husband Sam Asghari, the same cannot be said for Britney Spears’ family life. Her ex-husband Kevin Federline did a bombshell interview recently where he discussed the singer’s strained relationship with their two teenage sons, Sean and Jayden. After which, the former couple exposed even more BTS details in a tense back and forth social media feud – but all of Spears and Federline's posts were later scrubbed from the ethers. Spears has refrained since from discussing the matter further and has instead turned to showing some love for a few tried-and-true legends: Elton John, Madonna and Krispy Kreme.

Britney Spears Channels Her Inner Elton John 1970s Era

Despite the pop star’s previous claims that she was retiring altogether in the wake of her conservatorship ending, it seems that’s not quite the case. Reports had been bubbling for weeks about Britney Spears finally releasing new music with none other than the one and only Elton John. Well, she has at least finally teased the collaboration in a since-deleted Instagram post, and wow. Check it out here:

I had sincerely hoped this wasn’t just another hilarious photoshop job done by Britney Spears and would actually be used as cover art. Because, again, wow. I mean, iconic, right? Alas, Elton John himself – who was cinematically immortalized through Taron Egerton’s portrayal of him in Rocketman – posted his own sneak peek at their collaboration on his Instagram, with an entirely different throwback:

Their duet, “Hold Me Closer,” is slated for release on August 26, so it's not too far away. It's a revived take on the English musician’s 1971 hit “Tiny Dancer.” Judging by his version of the cover art, the two legends in their own respective rights have seemingly bonded over their love of performing, which started at young ages.

Move Over Elton, Madonna's In The House

While Britney Spears is busy dipping her toe back into music after a nearly six-year hiatus, she still has time for her old pal Madonna. The “Like A Virgin” singer was one of the many famous faces who attended Spears’ recent nuptials, and the latter can’t stop, won’t stop gushing about it. On August 19, the former Voice judge again posted a snap of them from the wedding reception, along with a clip of Spears doing an interpretation of Madonna’s voguing choreography from the iconic 1990 track:

Fans will remember that the former Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino resident had posted a similar but slightly different throwback with Madonna back in June. In that one, the two celebs recreated their infamous 2003 VMAs smooch. And at this point, it’s hard to say if that or the Elton John duet is giving me more feels…

Britney Spears Gave A Shout Out To Krispy Kreme (And Rightfully So)

Last, but certainly not least, was the post about Krispy Kreme. Its accompanying video had an unidentified woman whispering, somewhat erotically, about their “hot” and “juicy” donuts, which was a little weird, I’ll be honest. But all in all, I’ve never felt so seen at the same time – because their product is far superior to certain notable other brands. And no, Dunkin’ Donuts fans, I will not debate it here. Britney Spears enthusiastically celebrating her Krispy Kreme morning might seem a bit much to some. But in truth, there was a time in the not so distant past that Spears couldn’t even drive herself anywhere, per the restrictions of her conservatorship. That’s all changed now, though, and the avid Instagram A-lister has shared other facets of her post-conservatorship freedoms, to include going to a bar for her “first time.”

There’s still, obviously, the matter of the star pursuing legal action against her father Jamie Spears. Not to mention, Britney Spears continues to feud with her other immediate family members, like her sister and her mom, on top of the aforementioned Kevin Federline debacle. But it appears she’s trying to look on the bright side nonetheless – and who could not when one is tight with both Elton John and Madonna?

After years of whispers about Hollywood’s interest in making a biopic about Madonna, it’s happening with the iconic singer herself set to direct a movie about her life. Since the announcement was made in late 2020, the big question that has lingered has been about the actor who would play the “Material Girl.” Now it seems as though that actress has finally been chosen. 

Julia Garner, star of Ozark and Inventing Anna, has reportedly been offered the role of Madonna for the untitled biopic and is “expected to accept,” per Variety. The 28-year-old Netflix star has been in the conversation for the role for sometime, even being named the “frontrunner” amidst an apparently grueling audition process. 

Other actors who have apparently been considered to play Madonna under Madonna’s direction are Black Widow’s Florence Pugh, Euphoria’s Alexa Demie and singer Sky Ferreira. Garner was also among CinemaBlend’s own picks for who could play Madonna. Per a previous report from The Hollywood Reporter, the audition process took months, with hopefuls going through “intense” choreography sessions with the singer’s choreographer and personal sessions with Madonna herself. 

The actors reportedly underwent singing auditions and readings with Madonna as well. If Julia Garner does indeed accept the role, she’ll reportedly go through months of intense training to learn song and dance sequences for the Madonna biopic. As the now 63-year-old icon previously shared on a particularly memorable Jimmy Fallon appearance, she decided to make the movie because a bunch of people have tried to tell her story through film in the past and they are “always men.” 

The Madonna movie is being produced by Universal Pictures and will follow the singer in her “early days” and rise to fame. When the movie was announced, the singer also shared that she hopes the movie will convey her “incredible journey” as an artist “trying to make her way in this world.” Madonna finds the project “essential” to sharing the “the roller coaster ride” of her life with her own voice and vision. 

The part comes to Julia Garner after she wrapped her longtime role as Ruth Langmore in Ozark, which dropped its final episode on Netflix in late April. Julia Garner got her start in film back in 2011 (at the age of 17) with Martha Marcy May Marlene alongside Elizabeth Olsen and Sarah Paulson. She has since been in movies like The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, The Assistant and recently starred in the popular Netflix series, also based on a real person, with Inventing Anna. 

The Madonna biopic comes following a drove of successful music-focused biopics including Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, Elton John’s Rocketman and the upcoming Elvis movie. Madonna does not yet have a release date or production start date, but with Julia Garner reportedly on board, production is likely to be on its way soon. 

Bridgerton Season 2 has dropped on Netflix, and fans have been loving its slow-burn romance, south Asian representation, and brilliant scenery - and of course, the return of Lady Whistledown (voiced by the lovely Julie Andrews). However, with each new season of Bridgerton, there is always something that is added to make it even more relevant - classical renditions of famous pop songs. 

The first season, known to have songs such as “Wildest Dreams" during that major sex scene, and “Thank U, Next” reimagined for the series, started off the precedent for modern songs to be included in the show. And now, Season 2 has returned to that tradition with a vengeance. Here are the pop song covers for the Bridgerton Season 2 soundtrack.  

“Stay Away” (“Capital R Rake”)

Of course, the first thing I think of when it comes to finding a wife is Nirvana's “Stay Away.” In the first episode of Bridgerton Season 2, “Capital R Rake,” this pop song cover plays during the montage of Anthony meeting with several women to see if they are wife-worthy. But, I do find that the fast tempo of the song fits the urgency of Anthony wanting to find someone. 

“Material Girl” (“Capital R Rake”)

With those dresses and jewels, all of these people are "material girls." In “Capital R Rake,” the women and men of Bridgerton all gather at the first ball of the season, hosted by the lovely Lady Danbury to show off our two new characters, Kate and Edwina Sharma (played by Simone Ashley and Charithra Chandran), where the iconic song, “Material Girl” by Madonna, is playing in the background. 

“Diamonds” (“Capital R Rake”)

I don’t think a song could ever be more fitting. The last song from the first episode of Season 2 of Bridgerton is played when Queen Charlotte is trying to finally find her diamond for this courting season after her ceremony was rudely interrupted by the arrival of Lady Whistledown’s latest gossip sheet. I couldn’t think of a better song other than “Diamonds” by Rihanna to play, showing just how important this is for the queen to get done. 

“Dancing On My Own” (“Victory”)

Their first dance to this perfect song. In the fourth episode of Season 2 of Bridgerton, “Dancing On My Own” by Robyn is played in the background as Anthony and Kate dance for the first time. It’s such a fitting song, knowing Kate’s feelings for Anthony and how she must feel seeing her sister be courted by him, not to mention how she's avoided courtship herself all of these years. 

“You Oughta Know” (“An Unthinkable Fate”)

In the fifth episode of Bridgerton Season 2, a classical rendition of “You Oughta Know” by Alanis Morissette begins to play not that long after Anthony confesses to Kate his true desires and dreams, even knowing that they can’t act on them. The song follows the two lovers into the next morning, where both are clearly struggling with the idea of hiding their true feelings for the other while he is engaged to Edwina. The song is perfect for this angsty scene, showing just how much they want each other but can’t have what they truly desire. 

“Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham” (“The Choice”)

This is definitely a song where you might miss it just because it’s not a part of U.S. pop culture, but from India, “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham” is the title track from a very popular Bollywood drama. This classical cover was played in Bridgerton during the “The Choice,” while the Sharma sisters, as well as their mother, held a traditional Haldi ceremony for Edwina the night before her wedding. 

“Sign Of The Times” (“The Choice”)

You know, I knew Harry Styles was getting into acting more, with his appearances in movies like Eternals and Dunkirk, but I didn’t think his song would show up in Bridgerton. During that disastrous wedding scene in “The Choice,” fans of the artist will hear the a cover of one of Harry’s first-ever solo hits, “Sign of the Times,” during the ceremony. With lyrics for the original song saying “just stop your crying, it’s a sign of the times,” that felt like the perfect way to describe Kate and Anthony’s situation right at that moment. 

“What About Us” (“The Choice”)

Another great song that always gives me the feels is P!nk’s “What About Us,” which is also played in “The Choice” as Edwina tells Anthony she won't marry him. Fitting in with the wedding turning to crap and everyone else having their own personal love problems in Bridgerton (such as Eloise and Theo, with the tune also playing during their scene, and the Queen staying by her husband’s bedside), this song demonstrates the heartbreak that love brings. 

“How Deep Is Your Love” (“Harmony”)

I mean - this whole season was frustrating as heck, and while I did appreciate the slow-burn romance, did anyone else do a collective sigh of relief when Kate and Anthony finally got "hot and sexy and steamy" together, in the episode “Harmony,” after all of that tension? In the background of this love scene, you can hear the classical rendition of “How Deep Is Your Love” by Calvin Harris and Disciples, a highlight as their enemies to lovers story comes to full fruition. And, honestly, it’s about time.  

“Wrecking Ball” (“The Viscount Who Loved Me”)

Let me tell you, when I heard this song I screamed because I really don’t think a song could ever describe these two so freaking perfectly. In the finale of Season 2 of Bridgerton, in the episode “The Viscount Who Loved Me,” Kate and Anthony have their supposed one last dance before confessing their love for one another outside in the garden, and during so, you can hear the classical version of Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball.” 

This entire relationship felt like a wrecking ball, coming out of nowhere and destroying everything in its path only for them to come together in the end. So, to be honest, out of every song, I would pick this one through and through for Kate and Anthony. 

Bridgerton Seasons 3 and 4 are already announced, and I'm sure we will be hearing far more pop covers that have been turned into classical masterpieces. However, until then, enjoy listening to these, as they are true winners.  

One of the most exciting and highly anticipated films of the year — and that's including not just the appropriately comparable musical biopics, but everything else as well — is no doubt Roku Channel's WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story. (I make that declaration hyperbolically, but with abundant sincerity.) The excitement was already at a zenith just from the fact that Daniel Radcliffe is portraying the parody icon, and looks amazing doing it. But that hype has now jumped up even higher with the latest casting news, which includes Westworld star Evan Rachel Wood as the pop music sex symbol Madonna.  And as you'll see in the first look below, she certainly looks the part.

Perhaps in an effort to avoid the photo leakage that occurred ahead of Daniel Radcliffe's bespectacled first look officially going wide, Roku Channel went ahead and unveiled the initial shot of Evan Rachel Wood's Madonna right there with the casting announcement. Check it out!

The best thing about this image is just how much is happening on Evan Rachel Wood’s person. There’s the veil-esque headband, the make-up, the iconic mole above the lip, the black cross earrings, the abundance of necklaces, the brooches, the bracelets, and the sunglasses. And that’s all just in adornment to that…striking… top with its matching gloves, and the completely contrasting skirt. And it all clashes against the cream-colored lavishness in the background in the best of ways.

It's assumed that Madonna and Weird Al's stories will coincide at some point during the 1980s timeline, as the parodist was building up his fanbase with the release of the album Dare to be Stupid in 1985, with the hit single "Like a Surgeon" as the lead track. But one can only imagine how the dramatized version of events will go. 

Another highly notable new cast member revealed for WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story is The Office vet Rainn Wilson, who will be portraying fellow comedy music legend Dr. Demento, whose radio show played a huge role in bringing Weird Al's music to the masses. I cannot wait to see what he looks like in the role, which seems strangely suiting now that it's a concept worth thinking about.

Aside from those two, fans can look forward to seeing Mare of Easttown's Julianne Nicholson and Dickinson's Toby Huss joining the fun as Mary and Nick Yankovic, respectively. As one might imagine, those would be Weird Al's parents, and it's quite the talented pair of actors set to play them. While I can't recall if they shared the screen together, both Weird Al and Huss have recurred on Reno 911!, with the musician showing up again as Ted Nugent in the new Defunded season that debuted recently on Roku Channel. (With Jamie Lee Curtis serving as another amazing guest star in that show.)

The new film is currently filming in Los Angeles, and fans can only hope that more awesome casting news like this comes soon. Maybe John Mulaney can play Huey Lewis? I dare not make any Michael Jackson predictions, though. 

With no release date yet set, WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story is set to debut on Roku Channel hopefully at some point in 2022. Madonna has been pushing boundaries and subverting public opinion for almost five decades, whether you hate her or love her. As one of pop music’s greatest provocateurs, she's still pushing people’s buttons and making any mere man shutter with her antics, rebellious attitude and outspokenness. Though as many interviews as Madonna has done over the decades, I'm not sure anything will ever top her recent chat with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show. She's appeared on the late-night show numerous times, yet this appearance seemed incredibly awkward for Fallon. As a matter of fact, he was actually squirming while trying to interview the music superstar.

Usually, when a guest comes on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the titular host seems to have a rapport with the person. It allows the show to feel more like a chat between two friends rather than a fluffy softball interview. But Madonna being Madonna, it wasn’t going to be business as usual. While the late-night host did get some good stories from the pop singer, she made Fallon sweat a bit as she took over the conversation. You can watch The Tonight Show host shift in his chair as the singer takes control:

Even in the above clip, Jimmy Fallon admitted the pop icon makes him nervous every time she comes on the show. Madonna’s blunt commentary and cheeky innuendo seemed to throw Fallon off his game. (Honestly, talking about jelly squirters alone would make any man blush.) For every reply she gave, the late-night host seemed to get increasingly intimidated by her presence. But that was only part of the wildness that occurred on the late-night show.

Things seemed to get on track, as the host heaped praise on the songstress and her career. But after he mentioned the phrase “getting into good trouble,” singer sent Studio 6B in (thoroughly entertaining) chaos. Watch music’s biggest provocateur push the host's buttons even more:

Of course, she couldn’t resist the urge to lay across his desk. I mean who wouldn’t? It seems like a lovely place to take a catnap. But flashing her butt at the audience... it's just so… Madonna. The multi-faceted entertainer has never been one to just give basic answers and be prim and proper, it's just not her style. Of course, she's aware of her reputation and loves playing into it, which she clearly did here.

This is honestly far from the only awkward situation to happen on the show during the SNL alum's hosting tenure. There's just seems to be something about the show that brings out the most "interesting" sides of its guests.

I'm sure audiences would love to see more interviews like this one in the future. Jimmy Fallon getting flustered by Madonna’s mere presence makes the interview a must-watch for any fan of the singer or even just a casual viewer. And who knows, maybe this ordeal will be in the biopic she's working on.

From time to time, a movie comes around and catches lightening in a bottle when it comes to its cast, and there are few movies that are a better example of this than Penny Marshall’s 1992 baseball drama A League of Their Own. With a lineup that is led by Geena Davis, just one year after the game-changer that was Thelma and Louise, and Tom Hanks right before his career reached the next level, A League of Their Own’s cast had a lot going for it and each member made the most of their time both on and off the baseball field.

It has been nearly 30 years since we first learned of the names of Jimmy Dugan, Dottie Hinson, Kit Keller, Marla Hooch (what a hitter), and the rest of the Rockford Peaches, and you are probably wondering what they’ve been up to lately. Well, look no further, as we have put together a comprehensive list of the A League of Their Own cast and what they’re up to these days…

Tom Hanks (Jimmy Dugan)

Tom Hanks, though already an established star with more than a few successful movies under his belt, became one of the biggest stars of the 1990s in the years following his turn as the Rockford Peaches’ alcoholic coach Jimmy Dugan in A League of Their Own. Within three years of the film’s release, Hanks would have two Oscars (Philadelphia and Forrest Gump) and become the voice of one of the most groundbreaking animated franchises in Toy Story.

In recent years, Tom Hanks, who hasn’t really slowed down all that much, has continued to contribute to the Toy Story franchise while also portraying Mr. Rogers in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, to name only a few films. Hanks will soon appear in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis.

Geena Davis (Dottie Hinson)

Geena Davis’ Dottie Hinson was the heart (and oftentimes the brains) behind the Rockford Peaches throughout A League of Their Own, and it’s hard to think of a better actress to fill her shoes. Since leaving the diamond, Davis has continued to lead a successful on-screen career which has seen her lead the Stuart Little franchise and even star in her own sitcom, The Geena Davis Show.

In the past few years, the Academy Award winner (The Accidental Tourist), has provided her talents to movies like Ava and television shows like GLOW on Netflix, where she portrayed the wrestling promotion’s benefactor, Sandy Devereaux St. Clair, in the third and unfortunately final season.

Lori Petty (Kit Keller)

In the nearly 30 years since providing audiences with one of the best representations of overlooked younger siblings in A League of Their Own’s Kit Keller (which was only her fourth film role), Lori Petty has gone on to lead cult classics like Tank Girl and appear in celebrated series like Orange is the New Black, where she portrayed Lolly Whitehill off and on throughout the show’s run. Petty has a few projects in the work right now, including a film with the title You’re All Gonna Die and a HBO Max original called Station Eleven.

Madonna (Mae Mordabito)

It is hard to imagine a world in which anyone but Madonna played “All the Way” Mae Mordabito in A League of Their Own, and thankfully that’s something we’ll never have to do. The singer-turned-actress would go on to have her biggest film hit four years later with Evita, which earned her a Golden Globe for Best Actress. And, while her acting career slowed down over the years, Madonna has continued to be an inventive and driving force in the music industry, with her most recent album — Madame X — being released in 2019.

Rosie O’Donnell (Doris Murphy)

Rosie O’Donnell, who made her film debut as Doris Murphy in A League of Their Own, went on to appear in a few of the most beloved movies of the 1990s including Sleepless in Seattle and Tarzan, but the comedian-turned-actress really made her mark in the realm of television. Since getting her daytime talk show, The Rosie O’Donnell Show, she has gone on to host The View and on multiple occasions and appeared in scripted shows like Queer as Folk, The View, Nip/Tuck, and, more recently, SMILF. O’Donnell, who famously came out on television following 9/11, is an outspoken supporter for LGTBQ rights.

Tracy Reiner (Betty Horn)

Tracy Reiner, the daughter of A League of Their Own’s director Penny Marshall and Rob Reiner, became one of a few members of the original cast to reprise their roles in the 1993 television program of the same name, portraying Betty “Spaghetti” Horn. Following the movie and show (which only lasted six episodes), Reiner went on to appear in Apollo 13 and That Thing You Do!, later showing up in The Princess Diaries and Valentine’s Day (both directed by her uncle Garry Marshall). Since her mother’s death in 2018, Reiner has continued Marshall’s legacy and contributions to various causes.

Anne Ramsay (Helen Haley)

Anne Ramsay was just coming up in the industry when she joined A League of Their Own’s cast in 1992 as Helen Haley, the same year her most famous show, Mad About You, debuted. Over the years, Ramsay has played recurring roles on a number of iconic series like The L Word and Six Feet Under, with one-off appearances on shows like Castle, House, and Animal Kingdom. One of her most prominent roles as of late was in 2019’s Bombshell, in which she portrayed former Fox News personality Greta Van Susteren.

Megan Cavanagh (Marla Hooch)

Marla Hooch, who was quite a hitter in A League of Their Own, was portrayed by Megan Cavanagh. In the years since playing the Rockford Peaches’ best batter, Cavanagh has gone on to show up on a number of shows including Roseanne, ER, The West Wing, and Drunk History, where she portrayed Penny Marshall in a 2019 episode about the history of baseball. You may also even recognize Cavanagh’s voice from the various Jimmy Neutron movies and television programs.

Bitty Schram (Evelyn Gardner)

To some, Bitty Schram will always be Evelyn Gardner, the Rockford Peach on the receiving end of the famous “There’s no crying in baseball” line in A League of Their Own, but others will remember her from her performance as Sharona Fleming from the first three seasons of the USA Network mystery-comedy series, Monk. Outside of those two famous roles, Schram has appeared on Felicity, The Ghost Whisperer, and Kitchen Confidential over the years.

Ann Cusack (Shirley Baker)

Ann Cusack (yes, she’s the sister of Joan and John Cusack), has come a long way since playing the shy and illiterate Rockford Peach in A League of Their Own, with roles in movies like Gross Pointe Blanke, America’s Sweethearts, and Nightcrawler over the years. Where Cusack really shines, however, is in television, where she has appeared on everything from Frasier to Fargo. She has also had prominent roles recently with shows like The Boys, Castle Rock, and Station 19.

Freddie Simpson (Ellen Sue Gotlander)

Freddie Simpson, who played Ellen Sue Gotlander in A League of Their Own, only has a few more acting credits to her name following the 1992 baseball movie. After leaving acting behind, Simpson spent years teaching drama to underprivileged children before moving to Charlottesville, Virginia, where she owns and operates an acupuncture company.

Renée Coleman (Alice Gasper)

Renée Coleman appeared as Alice Gasper in A League of Their Own, but would leave acting behind a few years later and entered the field of Mythological Studies, and specializes in the art of DreamTending. She even published a book on the subject titled Icons of a Dreaming Heart in 2012.

Garry Marshall (Walter Harvey)

Garry Marshall, the acclaimed film and television legend who was also Penny Marshall’s older brother, portrayed AAGPBL founder Walter Harvey in A League of Their Own. Already an icon by the time he appeared in his sister’s 1992 baseball movie, Marshall went on to appear in countless films, shows, and specials over the years while also writing and directing his fair share of projects. In the years leading up to his death in 2016, Marshall released movies like The Other Sister, Runaway Bride, The Princess Diaries, and its sequel The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement.

David Strathairn (Ira Lowenstein)

David Strathairn, who appears in A League of Their Own as AAGPBL general manager Ira Lowenstein, has gone on to have a remarkable career including a turn as Edward R. Murrow in 2005’s Good Night, and Good Luck, which netted him nearly a dozen nominations. Strathairn most recently appeared in the Academy Award-winning drama Nomadland.

Jon Lovitz (Ernie Capadino)

Jon Lovitz only appears in the first few minutes of A League of Their Own, but his portrayal of the physically and mentally exhausted scout known as Ernie Capadino is one of his best performances. Over the years, Lovitz has lent his voice to the underrated animated series The Critic, appeared on The Goldbergs, and has even showed up on A.P. Bio.

Bill Pullman (Bob Hinson)

And then there is Bill Pullman, who shows up as Dottie’s G.I. husband, Bob Hinson, in A League of Their Own. Already a star by the time he took on the small yet important role, Pullman went on to appear in everything from a small summer movie called Independence Day, to the 2019 legal drama Dark Waters and oh so much more in between. Pullman generated a ton of buzz in the summer of 2021 when he led Budweiser’s amazing commercial.

These are just the major players from the A League of Their Own cast and doesn’t even touch on the dreaded Racine Belles. Maybe next season…

Adam Sandler has razzle dazzled us at the movies for years, leading us to memorable comedies, from The Wedding Singer to Fifty First Dates and throwing in some legitimately good dramatic performances in flicks like Punch-Drunk Love and Uncut Gems to boot. Of course, he’s also known as being the king of the Razzies, the awards ceremony known for awarding those who have underachieved or done poorly with movie choices in a given year. Intriguingly, Adam Sandler is not the A-lister with the most personal Razzie wins, however.

According to information compiled by Bonus, the Jack and Jill star has accumulated four personal Golden Rapberry Awards, which ties him in third place with Kevin Costner (another actor whose movies run the gamut from Bull Durham and Field of Dreams to Waterworld). The actors with the highest accumulation of Golden Raspberry Awards? That distinction goes to none other than Sylvester Stallone and Madonna, who rank in second and first place respectively for wins. Full breakdown of most individual wins can be seen below.

As you can see, some of the most brutal-feeling of these are the individuals with three nominations and three wins. It’s worth pointing out that a lot of notable names skated by here, though. For example, Tyler Perry has a whopping 11 nominations at the Golden Raspberry Awards, yet did not make the list of winners above. John Travolta and Arnold Schwarzenegger also have eight nominations apiece and Burt Reynolds and Jennifer Lopez each have seven nominations.

Some other huge names have landed noms. There’s Keanu Reeves and Johnny Depp, both with five noms. Cameron Diaz, Angelina Jolie and Ben Affleck didn’t skate through with zero noms here either, landing four apiece. Michael Bay, Nicolas Cage and Sharon Stone stand out even more, nabbing six apiece.

Eddie Murphy previously said it was the Razzie Awards that really made him rethink the trajectory of his career and pull back from a lot of movies over the last decade. He said in a recent WTF podcast interview the Razzies really gave him a new lease on where to take his comedy, telling Marc Maron:

And if you wonder where the movies stand, we actually saw a Golden Raspberry Awards milestone in 2020, when Cats was nominated for a whopping nine awards and won six.

Still, of all of the people on this list, the name I’d equate with the Razzies the most is probably still Adam Sandler--sorry Sandman--but a lot of the Adam Sandler movies that have landed Razzie nominations were not specific nominations for Adam Sandler personally. For example, Jack and Jill solidly won a slew of categories including but not limited to Worst Screenplay and Worst Picture, landing 7 Razzies overall and sweeping the awards the year it came out. A slew of other movies including Grown-Ups 2, That’s My Boy, Blended, and Hubie Halloween all landed nominations.

Still the Razzies also don’t always get it right, as apparently Adam Sandler was nominated partially for Happy Gilmore in 1997.

The good news? In 2020, Adam Sandler was nominated for the Razzie Redeemer Reward for his work in Uncut Gems. I’d say like the Oscars nominations, he was robbed. However, he did lose to Eddie Murphy for the latter’s work in Dolemite is my Name, so instead I’ll just say there was worthy competition in the category that year.

Starting with humble beginnings, reality competition series RuPaul's Drag Race has become a massively successful, Emmy-winning sensation. The show's whopping 13th season is currently airing, so countless exciting guest judges have sashayed down the runway for either main seasons or All-Stars. But there are some A-list names that haven't graced the acclaimed series yet, and judge Michelle Visage recently revealed a number of celebs that they've asked multiples times.

As RuPaul's Drag Race started snatching trophies at the Emmy Awards, the show's impressive guest judges have gotten even more fancy celebrity guest judges. Some major names include Lady Gaga, Christina Aguilera, and Nicki Minaj. And now Michelle Visage has dropped a few names that haven't been able to appear behind the judges' panel, despite interest by the producers. When asked why certain superstars haven't been featured yet, she said:

Well, there you have it. It looks like the producers of RuPaul's Drag Race consistently ask for legendary divas like Liza Minelli or Madonna to appear on the show. Unfortunately the scheduling hasn't worked out yet, but it doesn't look like the offers (or the show itself) are going to stop anytime soon.

Michelle Visage's comments to HuffPost are sure to excite the countless Drag Race fans out there who would like to see someone like the legendary Cher appear to school the dolls. We'll just have to hold out hope that those names end up eventually appearing. And in the meantime, we can hold out hope ahead of the trailer for the next season of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars.

It obviously makes a great deal of sense that legends like Dolly Parton might have a difficult schedule to work around. What's more, the shooting days on RuPaul's Drag Race are known for be quite long. There's the challenges, runway, and lip synchs, so there's a ton of footage to capture. As such, it's impossible for someone like Madonna to pop in for a quick appearance.

Then again, RuPaul's Drag Race is also really hitting its stride in regards to success. The show has earned a whopping 19 Emmy wins over the past few years, Outstanding Competition Program and Best Host for none other than RuPaul herself. Given this pedigree, it might be more appealing for big names to appear in a future season.

Michelle Visage mentioned Lady Gaga's appearance on the premiere of Season 9. The pop sensation/actress snuck in as a mole, before eventually revealing herself and giving extensive constructive criticism to the contestants. We'll just have to wait and see what names are next to make their way onto the main stage of RuPaul's Drag Race.

The Madonna biopic is officially back on track and it feels just like a dream. The Queen of Pop is directing, producing and co-writing the movie about her rise to fame with Juno’s Diablo Cody working on the script with her. Madonna is reportedly leading the search for the perfect actress to play her in the film being produced by Universal. Before the casting decision is made, let’s weigh in on who could be in the running.

Who can play Madonna… and be directed by Madonna as Madonna? It’s not an easy task for an actor to take on, but in the past few years performances such as Rami Malek’s Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody and Taron Egerton’s Elton John in Rocketman prove it can be done. Florence Pugh

Our first choice for the Madonna movie is last year’s Little Women Oscar nominee Florence Pugh. The 24-year-old actress is coming off an incredible performance that had her starring in standout performances in WWE true story Fighting For My Family, horror masterpiece Midsommar and is set to star in Black Widow next year. Pugh has shown she can pull off a variety of roles, is the perfect age to play an up-and-coming Madonna and Pugh can sing too (just check out her old YouTube channel). She’s a fabulous character actor and we’re ready to see her take on a role that allows her to let loose, but also bring weight to the Vogue singer.

Chloë Grace Moretz

Whoa, doesn’t she look like Madonna? Chloë Grace Moretz is a natural pick for the role because of their passing similarities, but the actress has been showing off her acting chops since breaking out in 500 Days of Summer and Kick-Ass when she was twelve. After additionally starring in more mature roles in Carrie, If I Stay, Suspiria and Greta, moving to a biopic like the Madonna film feels like an organic step for the 23-year-old actress. She has a combination of wit and intenseness that could be perfect for the role.

Sabrina Carpenter

Next up is Work It’s Sabrina Carpenter, who is a bonafide pop singer in her own right, with four albums on the books already at the age of 21. The actress got her big start on Disney Channel in the Boy Meets World sequel Girl Meets World from 2014 to 2017. Check one of her music videos below:

Sabrina has since started to break out with a stint in Quibi series Royalties and the Netflix dance movie hit Work It. She’s already trained in song and dance, she could undoubtedly recreate some of Madonna’s iconic music videos.

Lily James

Another great choice for Madonna is Lily James, who not only showed off her vocals for Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, but did an amazing impression of Meryl Streep’s Donna Sheridan in her younger form for the musical sequel. It’s basically an audition tape:

Therefore, she’s got all the elements of a great Madonna pick. James has an entrancing way about her that she has also shown off in Baby Driver, Yesterday and Disney’s live-action Cinderella that she can bring to the Material Girl.

Julia Garner

Are we spending too much time on the singing voice of the actress to-be in front of the role? Since Madonna is directing, she may want her own voice to shine through a-la Bohemian Rhapsody, which primarily had Rami Malek lip syncing Freddie Mercury’s voice. No idea if Ozark’s Julia Garner is a singer, but she just did some amazing impressions of Britney Spears and Gwen Stefani on Jimmy Fallon. The actress already likes to pay tribute to pop’s finest, and she’s been really incredible on the Netflix hit drama (she’s won two Emmys for) and received buzz for The Assistant early this year.

Kiernan Shipka

Another Netflix star Madonna should look out for to play her is the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’s Kiernan Shipka, who is 20. The actress got her start as Sally Draper in the legendary drama Mad Men from 2007 to 2015 and since made a name for herself on the fantasy series, which was sadly cancelled earlier this year. What Shipka has shown on Sabrina is her youthful charisma that can be carried over to a more mature role with Madonna. What inspired me to think of Shipka of Madonna is the series’ decision to have her star in a music video in character earlier this year called Straight To Hell.

Samara Weaving

We’ll just keep rolling with Netflix actresses, ok? Samara Weaving has been a bright star, particularly this past year with the release of horror comedy Ready or Not, Ryan Murphy’s Netflix series Hollywood and in Bill & Ted Face The Music recently. The Aussie actress is the niece of Matrix actor Hugo Weaving and just getting started in the industry. She’s 28, but easily can pull off Madonna in her younger years. She’s even got those baby blues.

Taylor Momsen

Another singer who could fill Madonna’s shoes is Taylor Momsen, who you may recognize from Gossip Girl or as Cindy Lou Who in How The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. Momsen is a 27-year-old punk rocker who has been the lead in the rock band The Pretty Reckless for over a decade. She may not be active as an actress in recent years, but this could be an awesome comeback for her. Momsen has a cool edge to her that could enhance the Madonna movie, plus she’s super experienced being on stage and performing live.

Lady Gaga

Alright this is a strange pick sure, but have you seen A Star Is Born? Put Lady Gaga in everything! In Gaga’s early years, the pop singer was certainly emulating Madonna and it might be awesome to see her pay tribute to the ‘80s legend by bringing those killer vocals and Oscar-nominated acting chops to the biopic. The couple downsides to a hot pick like Lady Gaga as she's a true artist and doing a rerun of someone else’s life might not be in her favor or overshadow the legacy Madonna is trying to leave.

The final pick we have for the Madonna biopic is… Madonna. Yes, the woman herself! Hey, she’s directing, producing and co-writing, might as well go all in right? The Irishman style, de-aging tech if she’d like it and just let her act out her life! This likely won’t happen considering the report detailed she is looking for a young actress, but we hope it does some of the time. Current Madonna could be this fourth-wall breaking Deadpool-like character who comes in and out throughout the movie to tell her story in hindsight. We don’t see an artist take the reigns of their own biopic very often (ever?), so why not lean all the way into this?

It's completely understandable why movies based on true stories, specifically biopics, are so popular both with Hollywood and with audiences. There's something that just feels different when the drama that we're seeing unfold actually happened in real life. Of course, no biopic entirely survives adaptation, and so the story isn't ever 100% true, but the basic story is usually there. This is why the recent news that we'll be seeing a biopic about Madonna that will be directed by her, and before that one starring Chris Hemsworth as Hulk Hogan, is not surprising. It is, however, slightly disconcerting, because I'm afraid both of these films may fall victim to what I will call "The Bohemian Rhapsody Problem" and I think it's a reason that movies like these should not be coming quite so soon.

Bohemian Rhapsody wasn't a terrible movie. It was fine, fun even, and Rami Malek's performance as Freddie Mercury was one worthy of recognition. Having said that, the movie also had some issues. First and foremost, it didn't offer much of anything new to the biopic formula. A lot of biopics fall victim to telling essentially the same story. The subject strives to achieve success in their chosen field, the subject achieves success, the subject falls victim to the pitfalls that come with success, which can include, but are not limited to, sex, drugs, and an ego the size of a skyscraper, From there, the subject hits rock bottom and then comes out the other side having learned a lesson. The subject achieves success again, but appreciates it more now.

There's a reason many biopics use this structure, especially when dealing with musicians. To a certain extent, it's because it's true. Frequently becoming a celebrity does bring with it a new lifestyle, one much faster paced, that can introduce temptations like drugs that had not been previously dealt with. Both Bohemian Rhapsody and Rocketman, two biopics that came out about a year apart dealing with musicians from the same era of rock and roll, both tell essentially this same story.

The Bohemian Rhapsody Problem

There was something about Bohemian Rhapsody that specifically bothered me when I saw it. While the film is certainly focused on the life of Freddie Mercury, it's also the story of the band Queen as a whole. And yet, this particular stereotypical arc only belongs to Freddie Mercury. It's interesting that the only member of Queen who was apparently ever an asshole is the one who wasn't alive to defend himself.

The rest of Queen was intimately involved in the creation of Bohemian Rhapsody, including having a hand in choosing Rami Malek to play Freddie Mercury. Even if it was unintentional, it's not surprising that Bohemian Rhapsody is kinder to the living members of Queen than it is to the one who is no longer with us. I'm not saying this was the intention of the film, I'm sure it was not, but it's human nature to want to paint ourselves in the best possible light, and only certain members of Queen had the ability to influence that, even if it was unconscious. In the end, it makes it look like Freddie Mercury was the only member of Queen who ever made a mistake.

Not Every Biopic Subject Is Going To Be Honest

I've been a professional wrestling fan since I was nine years old, and so seeing a biopic about the life of Hulk Hogan is something that interests me, but I'm actually less interested because Hogan himself will reportedly be an advisor on the picture. Hogan's support of the film will almost certainly help boost its profile, and so there's an incentive to keep him happy by making a movie that he's happy with. This is a guy who is famous within professional wrestling circles for not wanting to do the job in the ring. Is there a chance in hell he's going to willingly let himself look bad in a film?

The same thing is potentially the case with this upcoming Madonna biopic that will apparently be directed by the superstar. I'm certainly not going to argue that anybody understands Madonna better than Madonna herself, and the woman might every intention of telling an honest version of her life; something that maybe doesn't necessarily always make her look good, but her perspective is always going to be biased. Elton John seemed committed to telling a real story about his own life and not softening the edges, and that's part of what I think makes Rocketman a better movie than its Queen counterpart, but only slightly. John can clearly only understand his story from his point-of-view, and sometimes an outside perspective is what we need.

Certainly first-hand accounts from the main subject of a biopic are going to be important and frequently the most important element of any story, but they should not be the only element that's taken into account, and no movie should feel entirely beholden to the first-hand account as if it were gospel. It may be a perfect perspective on the events that took place, but that doesn't mean it completely understood those events, and how others saw your famous biopic subject can have value as well.

Time As Distance Give Perspective

I certainly hope that these forthcoming biopics on Madonna and Hulk Hogan are good. If they find unique and interesting ways to tell their stories, they can certainly still be entertaining. But if they want to be more than that, if they want to try and say something of interest about these people, and not simply recreate events, they may have more trouble. Madonna is great and she accomplished a lot, but she's actually not the ultimate arbiter of what Madonna will ultimately mean to society. That's going to come from others in the future looking back on what she did and how she lived.

Nearly every biopic exists to celebrate its subject unless it's the rare biopic designed to vilify its subject. In the end, the movie will show us that despite shortcomings and some bad decisions, there's a reason this person is worthy of having a movie made about them in the first place. But it would feel like that celebration was coming from a more genuine place if it wasn't being overseen by the person the movie is about. That makes it sound like they are the ones celebrating themself, and that's going to make us wonder just how true the story we saw really is.

Remember when Thanos said, “Fine, I’ll do it myself” at the end of 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, in reference to collecting the Infinity Stones? Well, famed singer and actress Madonna is adopting that same attitude, as it’s been announced that she’ll be directing a biopic about her own life. Strike a pose, everyone.

Along with her directing and producing duties, Madonna is also cowriting this biopic’s script with Juno’s Diablo Cody, with both women having been teasing the project on their social media accounts. A search is already being planned out to find an actress to play Madonna in her formative years, and it goes without saying that the movie will chronicle how she became a worldwide star.

There’s no word yet on what the Madonna biopic will be titled or when production will begin, but here’s what Madonna had to say about the project in a statement:

I want to convey the incredible journey that life has taken me on as an artist, a musician, a dancer — a human being, trying to make her way in this world. The focus of this film will always be music. Music has kept me going and art has kept me alive. There are so many untold and inspiring stories and who better to tell it than me. It’s essential to share the roller coaster ride of my life with my voice and vision.

While having the subject of a biopic direct said movie is a rather unprecedented move, at least Madonna already has some directing experience under her belt, having helmed 2008’s Filth and Wisdom and 2011’s W.E. The surviving members of Queen were also heavily involved with the making of the Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, but that’s still a far cry from them directing the picture themselves.

Madonna will produce this biopic alongside Amy Pascal, with the two women having previously crossed paths on 1992’s A League of Their Own. Sara Zambreno and Guy Oseary will executive produce, and Senior executive Vice President of Production Erik Baiers and Director of Development Lexi Barta will oversee the project for Universal. The studio’s Filmed Entertainment Group chairman, Donna Langley, also described Madonna as being “the ultimate icon, humanitarian, artist and rebel” who has “shaped our culture in a way very few others have.”

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about a Madonna biopic being in development. Back in 2017, it was announced that Universal Pictures was working on such a project, titled Blonde Ambition, which was written by Elyse Hollander. However, this biopic sounded like it would only cover Madonna’s life in the 1980s. Shortly after that announcement, Madonna voiced her displeasure with that biopic, saying that she should be the one to tell her own story. Taking this latest news into account, one can surmise that Blonde Ambition has been shelved.

Along with the aforementioned A League of Their Own, Madonna’s other acting credits include Desperately Seeking Susan, Dick Tracy and Evita, but it doesn’t sound like we should expect her to appear in front of the camera on this biopic. Diablo Cody’s other writing credits include Jennifer’s Body, Ricki and the Flash, Tully, the Showtime series United States of Tara, and The CW’s upcoming Powerpuff Girls live-action series.

For many of us, there is nothing that compares to a great music video. There's a special art to being able to tell a story or evoke emotions by brining visuals to a popular song, an art that requires someone with a great deal of skill and an eye for the dramatic. Much like David Fincher's 1990 music video for the Madonna song "Vogue." But Fincher isn't alone.

There are dozens of directors who have either gotten their start in the music video industry or jumped over to the medium after finding success on the big screen or television. Names like Spike Lee, Paul Thomas Anderson, and Spike Jonze have all made some of the most culturally significant and eye-catching videos of all time. But some of us may forget, or don't know, that some of our favorite videos were directed by the biggest names in Hollywood. But fear not, as I have you covered…

David Fincher - Vogue, Madonna (1990)

Before creating some of the most important films of the last 25 years with the likes of Seven, Fight Club, and The Social Network, David Fincher got his start in the music video business by creating groundbreaking videos like the 1990 black-and-white masterpiece that is Madonna's "Vogue." This iconic and the visionary video is filled with the technical precision and artistry that the English director would bring to his movies just a few years later and showed what he was capable of pulling off. It also didn't hurt that this was the third time Fincher and Madonna had teamed up after collaborating on "Express Yourself" and "Oh Father," a year earlier.

Spike Jonze - Weapon Of Choice, Fatboy Slim (2001)

Younger audiences may know Spike Jonze for his 2013 science fiction romance drama Her, but the Academy Award-winning filmmaker made quite a name for himself with his cinematic and revolutionary music videos in the 1990s. Collaborating with artists like Beastie Boys, Weezer, and R.E.M. for some of most memorable music videos of the decade, Jonze's most notable work arguably comes from his pairing with Fatboy Slim for the Grammy Award-winning "Weapon of Choice" video starring Christopher Walken dancing in a deserted hotel lobby. You can see elements of Jonze's signature style peppered throughout the dreamlike nearly four-minute video.

Martin Scorsese - Bad, Michael Jackson (1987)

There are music videos directed by legendary filmmakers and there is the Michael Jackson's "Bad." Directed by Martin Scorsese, this 18-minute music video plays more like any one of the acclaimed directors feature films. By combining elements from West Side Story with flash and style of in-his-prime King of Pop, Scorsese created one of the most groundbreaking videos of the 1980s. Remarkably, this is one of only two music videos the director of Goodfellas, Raging Bull, and The Irishman directed throughout his career. Oh, it also features a young Wesley Snipes, who only had a few acting credits at this point in his career.

Spike Lee - Fight The Power, Public Enemy (1988)

The Public Enemy track "Fight the Power" was originally created to serve as the anthem of Spike Lee's Do the Right Thing, so it was only fitting that the director created the empowering music video in 1989. Made to look like a political rally, the "Fight the Power" video is a seven-minute affair showing thousands of extras in the streets of New York walking behind the revolutionary and politically-charged rap group. You can see the director's style throughout the video, which came out a few years before Denzel Washington gave a career-defining performance in the Spike Lee joint Malcolm X.

Gus Van Sant - Under The Bridge, Red Hot Chili Peppers (1991)

Anyone who was alive and conscious in the early '90s will never forget the groundbreaking and breathtaking video for the Red Hot Chili Peppers song "Under the Bridge," but until recently, I didn't know that auteur Gus Van Sant was responsible for this MTV mainstay. Having just finished work on My Own Private Idaho, in which RHCP bassist Flea had a role, Van Sant was asked by the band to provide his talents and signature style to create a music video. By combining elements of realism and fantasy, the video has a distinct feel to it, which is probably why it's still held in such high regard nearly 30 years after it was first released.

Brian De Palma - Dancing In The Dark, Bruce Springsteen (1984)

Mostly known for one of the first appearances from future Friends star Courteney Cox, Bruce Springsteen's 1984 video for "Dancing in the Dark" remains one of the most popular MTV mainstays from the 1980s. The video, shot over the course of two nights at the beginning of The Boss' "Born in the USA" tour, is the only one shot by director Brian De Palma over the course of his 50-plus-year career. Known for his action and attention to detail in films like Scarface, The Untouchables, and Mission: Impossible, De Palma's video has a laser-focus on Springsteen and Cox throughout this well-lit and masterfully directed spectacle.

Ava DuVernay - Family Feud - Jay-Z Ft. Beyoncé (2018)

Ava DuVernay is responsible for one of the most star-studded and visionary music videos in quite some time with her video for the Jay-Z and Beyoncé song "Family Feud" from the rapper's 4:44 2018 album. At nearly eight minutes in length, the video jumps through time dissecting a number of issues affecting society before ending in a massive cathedral where the power-couple provide and intimate and powerful performance to an empty room. The director of Selma, A Wrinkle in Time, and the Netflix series When They See Us brings a breath of fresh air to the format in her first and only music video.

Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris - 1979, Smashing Pumpkins (1996)

Trying to decide which Smashing Pumpkins video from Jonathan Dayton and Varlie Faris (Little Miss Sunshine, Ruby Sparks) to include on this list was no easy task, but it had to be the music video for the band's 1996 song "1979." Sure, "Tonight, Tonight," is probably the more iconic collaboration, but the vague lyrics and close-up camera angles of the cast of characters featured in the "1979" video creates an atmosphere and feeling that is unmatched 22 years later. I remember being a kid and being transfixed by the imagery of a group of friends holding onto their fleeting innocence before adulthood stripped it away.

Paul Thomas Anderson - Across The Universe, Fiona Apple (1998)

Paul Thomas Anderson is mostly associated with actors like Philip Seymour Hoffman, Joaquin Phoenix, and Daniel Day-Lewis, but the American filmmaker also had a fruitful professional (and intimate) relationship with singer-songwriter Fiona Apple from the late 1990s to the early 2000s. This resulted in a series of striking music videos, including Apple's 1998 cover of The Beatles song "Across the Universe." Much like many of PTA's movies throughout his career, the music video plays with the contrast of beauty and madness as the singer softly recites the famous lyrics while complete chaos unfolds behind her.

Mark Romanek - Shake It Off, Taylor Swift (2014)

Unlike pretty much everyone else on this list, Mark Romanek is a music video director that just so happened to make a few movies along the way. On the movie side, Romanek is mostly known for the chilling thriller starring the late Robin Williams One Hour Photo, but his music video work is unmatched by probably anyone not named Hype Williams. Winning over 20 MTV Video Music Awards for his long list of contributions to the medium, Romanek has worked with artists like Nine Inch Nails and Taylor Swift for her "Shake it Off" video. That may sound like a crazy jump from NIN to T. Swift, but you can see elements of the director's previous entries in the 2014 music video, especially the off-putting look of the symmetrical ballerinas and cuts to figures moving in slow motion.

I hope you have had just as much fun watching this old videos and looking back on their legacy as I have had putting this together. There is something about a great music video that makes me all nostalgic and think about those lazy afternoons watching the best videos MTV (and VH1) had to offer. I feel like it's safe to say that, while most of us in the United States seem to be handling this whole self-isolation thing pretty well, it's far from easy for any of us. By this point, nearly a month in, we're all likely starting to go a little stir crazy. It turns out, we're not the only ones. Even celebrities, who likely live in houses much bigger than yours with much more fun stuff to do inside them, are also going slowly bonkers. Some of them aren't doing it slowly.

Without a movie or a TV show to make your favorite actors are using Instagram and Twitter as their doorway to the rest of us, and...man, they are producing some content. You've probably seen a few of these pieces going viral in your feed, but, as a gift(?) for you, Cinemablend's own Jeff McCobb has collected a lot of these clips in one easy to reference place. Check out his video below of your favorite celebrity clearly having run out of things to do.

Needless to say, there's a lot to unpack here. Modonna is singing in her bathroom, Florence Pugh is making toast, Sam Neill is washing his shoes. Some of these were clearly done for the silly fun of it all. Honestly, considering the stuff Sam Neill has put on Twitter, I feel like we might have seen the shoe laundering video even if we weren't all in lockdown. The same thing goes for Jack Black's mostly naked dance video.

And in defense of Florence Pugh, the toast bit is funny, and she's been doing a lot of more complicated cooking on social media. Seriously, Netflix needs to give her a cooking show, I'd watch.

Then there are the more complicated videos. The fact that Julianne Moore's son edited and scored a video of her washing a pot is like Schrodinger's Instagram, it's simultaneously ridiculous and impressive. There's no question they were bored out of their minds, but most of us would have probably given up on that job before it was done. At some point I was have stopped and just wondered why I was doing this. That this got completed shows commitment.

In many ways, as Jeff points out in the video, celebrities are really not "just like us," but it would seem in one key way they are. They're all sort of going nuts just like us. I mean, maybe we're not all crashing through towers of blocks like a bull in a Jenga shop, but we've probably all started to look for equally creative ways to keep ourselves entertained. Sometimes, you need to take a break from your third rewatching of Tiger King to do something else for a little while. And most of us can't play the banjo like Steve Martin.

Some feuds burn forever. Other feuds are short-lived. Lady Gaga and Madonna haven't always been on each other's best sides, to say the least, but it turns out that their bitter feelings for each other weren't meant for long. As it was just revealed on social media, the Oscar-winning star of A Star is Born and the fellow actress-musician finally put their feud to rest. The celebrities showcased the news with a new backstage photo, where they found each other in a comforting embrace.

The intimate photo, provided by TIME's Instagram recognizing last night's Oscars ceremony, finds Lady Gaga celebrating her first Oscar win for Best Original Song with A Star is Born's "Shallow," which she won alongside Mark Ronson, Anthony Rossomando and Andrew Wyatt. And she's celebrating with Madonna by her side. While folks who weren't clued into the feud might not think much about this photo, it does prove to be a surprise for those familiar the controversies that swirled between the celebs, particularly when things between them got heated last year.

To be more specific, the feud between Lady Gaga and Madonna was reignited when Gaga was heard re-uttering a soundbite involving "100 people" and "99 of them" not believing you, but it only taking one to to say yes and change "your whole life" -- which Madonna believes Lady Gaga stole from her quote history. Madonna made it clear: she wasn't the least bit happy about Gaga co-opting her lines, and she made things between them bitter. Social media, obviously, ate the drama up.

But at some point during awards season build-up and the glamor of Oscar Sunday, something changed. The ice melted. At least, that's what one would speculate, but it's hard to know for sure how these famous feud turned into a fabulous friendship.

No matter. It would seem Madonna and Lady Gaga are cool with each other, rather than just cold. And it doesn't necessarily matter how the end result was made; it's just a relieving comfort for fans of both Lady Gaga and Madonna to know they're no longer at odds and that everything seems hunky-dory between these two gals.

But will the joyful, loving and comforting feelings between Lady Gaga and Madonna last long? Who can say? These things are hard to predict in Hollywood. It is hard to know when celebrity feuds might begin and when they might end. And it is not our place to assume when they will spark and when they will die out. We only report when they come alive or die quickly. And this time, it's thankfully the latter.

The response came from Madonna's Instagram, where the pop superstar welcomed in 2019 by claiming that she is "desperately seeking no ones approval." While she makes no mention of her bottom or the rumored implants that she got inside her gluteus maximus, Madonna makes it perfectly clear she doesn't want anyone criticizing her body or saying what she should or should not do it with. It is evident Madonna does not take too kindly to critiques about her body. Given the recent timing of this pointed social media address, one can ultimately read between the lines...

Madonna has received no shortage of criticism throughout her career -- unjustly and otherwise. At this point, it's understandable that she doesn't want to hear what people think of her looks and what she decides to with her body. It is her body, after all; it's ultimately her choice if she (allegedly) opted to get some butt implants to kick off 2019 in a major way. And sure enough, Madonna is not here to hear what you think about any of her major decisions.

In any case, the rumor butt implant is only one of several recent headlines that have featured Madonna. Of late, she has gotten attention by igniting and reigniting feuds with Lady Gaga and Cher. When it comes to the former, Madonna found her bitter about a quote the actress/singer keeps using during the promotional rounds for A Star is Born. She claims (via video) that she actually said it first, and she thinks the award-nominated performer is ripping her off. Meanwhile, when it comes to Cher, it is part of a prolonged public battle she has had with the superstar. Some feuds simply never die, do they?

Additionally, Madonna got herself into hot water when her tribute for Aretha Franklin during MTV's Video Music Awards was heavily criticized as being self-righteous and self-involved when it should've focused on the dearly departed powerhouse singer. Controversy can often be found near Madonna.

There is a quote that Lady Gaga has uttered numerous times throughout the press tour for A Star is Born. It relates to her co-star/director Bradley Cooper, and how he was the one person who believed Lady Gaga could pull off her phenomenal performance in her big debut, and how that helped propel her film star-making turn in the acclaimed remake. It's an inspiring story. It's also one that has furthered the divide between Gaga and Madonna.

First, here's the quote from Lady Gaga that is giving the "Shallow" singer grief from Madonna. It is a quote Lady Gaga has used ad nauseum by now.

As it was explained by Cosmopolitan, Madonna posted a video on her Instagram Story that seemed to be directed at her fellow actress/musician. On social media, Madonna dug up a vintage clip from the '80s that found the "Like a Prayer" musician saying something similar to what Lady Gaga said.

While Madonna didn't mention Lady Gaga directly, the implication that was made fairly clear -- particularly to anyone who has been keeping up with Lady Gaga's press tour and the number of times she has uttered the quote found above. Madonna wants to reignite her salty relationship with Gaga.

Now, there's a slight chance that Madonna just wanted to post some old interview footage of herself to give her followers a blast from the past. It's not out of the question. But it sounds like a lot of people are jumping to the conclusion that Madonna's social media post was meant to attack Lady Gaga.

But it should be noted that Madonna and Lady Gaga were each talking about two entirely different things when they said their respective quotes -- several times when it comes to Lady Gaga. Madonna was talking about her critics, and how it took a bit of time before she was respected the way she is today. Gaga, meanwhile, was talking about how Bradley Cooper saw a wealth of potential in the musician as an actress, and how that changed her.

In any case, Madonna is seemingly mad at Lady Gaga for what she believes is stealing one of her famous quotes from several decades earlier. Is she in the right or in the wrong? It's ultimately up to the fans to decide. Though it does sound like Lady Gaga might want to retire that already viral quote in the near future.

By both music fans and critics, Madonna is often well-regarded for her musical accomplishments throughout the decades. But there's one person in particular who isn't taken by the singer's persona: Cher. As it turns out, Cher doesn't find herself all-that-impressed by the "Material Girl" singer, and she wasn't afraid to admit as much during a recent appearance on Ellen. When the talk show host and musician played a revealing game of The 5 Second Rule Game, Cher was asked who were three stars with whom she'd like to perform a duet. This is the ruthless answer that Cher gave Ellen.

Let it be known: Cher isn't afraid to burn a bridge or two. As it was reported by Entertainment Tonight, the cutting comment came during Cher's most recent appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. The singer/actress didn't explain on the talk show why she wasn't eager to perform a duet with the notoriously controversial musician, although it's no secret that Cher doesn't have the warmest feelings towards the "Like a Virgin" singer.

Cher's cold comments towards Madonna reportedly go back as far as 1991, when she claimed in an interview that there was something about Madonna that she "didn't like." Specifically, at the time, Cher called Madonna "mean." And that wasn't the end of it. She also called Madonna a "spoiled brat," and Cher considered her and Sean Penn, her husband at the time, to be rude people. She even whipped out the c-word, reportedly. So, yeah. Things between them aren't particularly kind, it's safe to say. Based on this recent Ellen comment, it doesn't sound like Cher has warmed up to Madonna -- even decades later. If you were expecting Madonna and Cher to make a duet debut anytime soon, you might be out of luck, music lovers.

That said, there was a temporary calm in the storm, it would seem, back in 2013. When Cher appeared on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, the star singer claimed she was "totally good" with Madonna, despite their past disagreements. Evidently, those feelings of bliss were short lived. What happened between being totally good in 2013 and now is unknown, but it's apparent that Cher isn't looking to renew her friendship with Madonna. Don't expect Cher and Madonna to record any music together anytime soon, it seems.

During last night's VMAs ceremony, Madonna came up to the stage and provided a tribute to the late, great Aretha Franklin. The powerhouse singer passed away last week at the age of 76. Or, at least, a tribute was supposed to happen. But many viewers found themselves displeased with Madonna's intended remembrance of the belated musician, believing the "Like a Prayer" artist spent more time celebrating herself than the Queen of Soul. Here's what went down at the VMAs, causing Madonna to earn a great deal of criticism for how she opted to remember the late fellow singer.

When Madonna came up to present the Video of the Year award during last night's VMAs ceremony, the musician wanted to take a moment to remember Aretha Franklin and pay her due respects to the "Respect" singer, who passed away after an extended battle with pancreatic cancer. As it was recounted by CNN, Madonna opened by saying that Aretha Franklin "changed the course of my life," and while that was a nice start, it devolved into an extended, meandering story about Madonna's journey into the music business, with Aretha Franklin's own story seemingly pushed to the side.

As you can imagine, the response on social media was not the least bit kind to Madonna's botched, self-interested tribute to Aretha Franklin.

Others were critical of how Madonna turned what was supposed to be a heartfelt, moving tribute to Aretha Franklin into several personal anecdotes.

Other social media users, meanwhile, were quick to point out that this inappropriate Aretha Franklin remembrance wasn't the first time Madonna flubbed a tribute to a lost iconic artist. Social media users also made a point to note that Madonna did the same thing when Prince passed away only a couple years earlier, as well as when Michael Jackson died in 2009. Evidently, there is a stark pattern here, and several music fans are not the least bit amused by it.

Meanwhile, shortly after the VMAs aired on MTV, Madonna shared a picture of herself with the big winner for the evening, Camila Cabello, and she tried to explain what happened during the ceremony. As she claims, Madonna did not intend to do a tribute to Aretha Franklin. Whether she's just saying that to save face or not, it's clear that most people agree that it wasn't ultimately a fitting tribute to the incredible voice we lost a few days ago.

For Rosie O'Donnell, it was merely being friends with the Material Girl that helped get her in the door to play Meg Ryan's best friend in Sleepless in Seattle.

Ultimately, Sleepless and A League of Their Own was a killer one two bunch for Rosie O'Donnell, and allowed her to ascend to the TV and movie icon she would eventually become. Sleepless in Seattle is one of the most iconic romantic comedies ever, and still has the ability to trigger feelings of love and nostalgia with its generations of fans. It also made $227 million on a $21 million budget, accruing two Oscar nominations along the way.

Sleepless in Seattle revolves around Meg Ryan's Annie Reed, with Rosie O'Donnell playing her friend and co-worker Becky. As Annie falls in love with Tom Hanks' character by listening to a radio show, Becky is her confidante and wingwoman in her quest for happiness. Rosie got one of the biggest parts in the movie, and rounded out a cast including Victor Garber, Rita Wilson, David Hyde Pierce, and Gaby Hoffman.

Kim Kardashian and Kourtney Kardashian nailed Halloween with "iconic" costumes this year. The reality television personalities joined forces and transformed into living replicas of Madonna and Michael Jackson from their appearances at the 1991 Academy Awards. Kourtney Kardashian made the perfect MJ, while Mrs. Kanye West went all out with her tribute to Madge's classic Hollywood reinvention from the early '90s. You have to see it:

Wow, these costumes are excellent! In the Twitter video, you can tell Kim Kardashian was feeling the glam, and Kourtney Kardashian's cute smile said it all about how much fun she was having. If you stop to think about it, Kim Kardashian's costume has multiple layers of meta. It's iconic Kim Kardashian as iconic Madonna as iconic Marilyn Monroe. (Woah!)

In fact, the Madonna costume was not the only iconic Halloween transformation for Kim Kardashian this year. She also dressed up as Aaliyah and Cher for different events. To do Aaliyah, Kardashian opted for the outfit from the "Try Again" music video. Then she wore a 1970s-era Cher outfit to the Casamigos Halloween party George Clooney threw.

But the Kardashians and Jenners always go all out for Halloween. Over the years, Kim Kardashian has been just about every Batman villain, Disney princess, X-Men mutant, and powerful superhero you can imagine. Plus, her younger half-sister, Kylie Jenner, won Halloween last year by getting rowdy/unruly/naughty as Christina Aguilera from the "Dirrty" music video.

Most people loved Kim Kardashian and Kourtney Kardashian's looks this year. However, some wondered if it was a questionable choice for them to dress up as black stars (i.e., Michael Jackson and Aaliyah), especially after Kim Kardashian recently faced negative feedback for a supposed blackface problem. Still, many fans came to the Keeping Up with the Kardashian celebrities' defense to say the looks did not cross the line, and instead were thoughtful, well-crafted expressions of admiration.

As mentioned, Kim Kardashian and Kourtney Kardashian's costume paid tribute to the time Madge and MJ attended the Academy Awards together and "dated." Here is some backstory. In 1991, the Queen of Pop went to to the Oscars to perform "Sooner or Later" from Dick Tracy, in which she played Breathless Mahoney. She amplified the excitement by bringing Michael Jackson, the King of Pop and the only person on the planet who matched (or even outshined) her star power at the time. It was a moment made in Hollywood heaven, and the stunt dominated headlines (almost overshadowing Madonna's campy, Marilyn Monroe-style performance and the fact her song won an Oscar).

A week later, Madonna and Michael Jackson went on a "date" at The Ivy Restaurant in Beverly Hills. But that was the end. Some tabloid said the meetups were publicity stunts. (Um, you think?) Madonna had Truth or Dare on the way, and Michael Jackson was about to drop his Dangerous album. MJ never talked about the "dates" again, but Madonna brought it up many times. In recent years, MJ's brother Jermaine Jackson wrote in his book that Madonna might have "adored" Michael Jackson, but the feeling wasn't mutual because she supposedly tried too hard to loosen him up and then criticized Janet Jackson during dinner.

Who knew so many things could happen with two "dates"? Still, the odd moment garnered tons of attention and became so iconic that Kim Kardashian and Kourtney Kardashian paid tribute to it with spot-on Halloween costumes in 2017. It is tons of fun seeing the celebs post updates on social media to show off their incredible costumes. Keep the Halloween coming!

A new letter from Tupac to his ex-girlfriend, Madonna, has surfaced and made its way to auction. In the letter, the late rapper explained that his decision to call it quits with the pop icon came from mixed feelings related to culture and race. Apparently, it was too hard for him to look past the potential for criticism from some people who might take issue with him dating a white pop star. He wrote:

Wow, it sounds like Tupac was torn up about his break-up with Madonna. In fact, the letter helps to underscore the genuine love and deep respect the two stars held for each other. However, societal pressures about culture and race weighed too heavily on the rapper and brought the relationship to an end.

At the beginning of the letter, Tupac wrote about having a hard time finding the right words to say to explain the split. According to the rapper, he did a lot of soul-searching while at the Clinton Correctional Facility where he served time for sexual assault. It brought him to a state of enlightenment where he could sit back and reflect on ways he might have been better. For example, in a line layered with insights about Tupac and Madonna's private conversations, the rap legend wrote,

In the letter, which TMZ shared with some parts omitted, Tupac admitted how hurt he felt after they had split up and he heard Madonna joke, "I'm off to rehabilitate all the rappers and basketball players" in an interview. Tupac suggested he lashed out with words at that time because he felt the need to defend himself and protect his ego. However, the rapper's tone in the letter was apologetic.

Now the pop culture artifacts company Gotta Have Rock and Roll is selling the letter at auction. It will be up for sale between July 19 and 28 with a starting bid of $100,000. Another letter Tupac penned in prison sold for $170,000, so experts say this new letter could make a pretty penny.

Back in 2015, during an interview with Howard Stern, Madonna acknowledged her brief but meaningful relationship with Tupac. The Material Girl explained how she and Tupac had been having a heated discourse about the state of the world. The conversation apparently was part of the cause of the infamous David Letterman appearance during which she smoked cigars, used adult language, and appeared incoherent.

The letter is fascinating. It offers such a rare glimpse into the lives of the two music icons. Surely it will be a pricey purchase for whomever bids high enough to get it.

It's been a few days since we learned that Universal is moving forward with its Madonna biopic Blonde Ambition. The project was on the famous blacklist prior to Universal's announcement, and plenty of people are interested in seeing it move forward. Madonna is certainly not one of those people however, and she's spent the last few days musing about why the project should not be made. In fact, she followed up her initial posts with one that indicates she feels it is her life and her prerogative to talk about it... not someone else's.

Madonna believes that it is "her life" and she should be able to share it with the public when she pleases and not when other people feel like it. The post above directly correlates to one she made a few days ago when she called those behind the biopic "charlatan[s]" and "fool[s]." Blonde Ambition is expected to look at Madonna's pre-fame days spent in Michigan, and that doesn't seem to be a story the singer and performer would prefer to have told, at least without permission from herself.

There are a lot of people who have seen their lives splashed onscreen during biopics such as these. Lifetime is a huge fan of bringing up drama related to TV casts with The Unauthorized Full House and Saved By The Bell movies. The People V. O.J. Simpson recounted a story filled with plenty of people who are still alive today. Heck, there are actually a slew of unauthorized Madonna biographies out there, including mass market paperbacks by Christopher Andersen, Douglas Thompson, David James and more.

The difference between the above projects and the unauthorized Madonna movie is theoretically the audience it could attain. Movies are still a big deal around the world and help to inform our impressions of people in the stories that are told--especially in the stories about real-life people. While a lot of historically relevant movies do strive to be accurate or to at least tell people the flicks are based on a real-life story and not necessarily wholly accurate, Madonna clearly would prefer a movie about her to highlight aspects of her life she has personally approved. I'd expect a lot of kabbalah and exercising tips in that case.

The "Material Girl" singer may not get what she wants in this case. The movie, written by Elyse Hollander, is still in the early stages of development, but Universal is a pretty big studio to have attached. Hopefully, this one won't go the way of that Sacha Baron Cohen Freddie Mercury biopic. Or according to Madonna herself, hopefully it will.

Madonna cemented herself as one of the biggest pop culture figures of the 1980s, and she's still performing to this day, The singer has also had plenty of experience in Hollywood, but soon she'll be played on the big screen by someone else. Yesterday it was reported that a Madonna biopic is in the works, and while this will give her fans and regular moviegoers the opportunity to see her early life represented, the performer is unhappy with this movie because she believes she's the only one who can accurately represent her life in a cinematic setting. In her words:

Well, Madonna certainly didn't hold back when responding on Instagram to the news about the biopic about her being in development. One would logically imagine that an individual who is making such a movie would take the opportunity to research Madonna and even interview her, but the way Madonna sees this project now, it doesn't sound like that would make a difference. Maybe she'll change her mind later down the line either on her own or after with speaking someone connected to the biopic, but for now, it doesn't sound like they should count on her coming aboard as a consultant.

Titled Blonde Ambition, this Madonna movie was written by newcomer Elyse Hollander, with the script previously being the most popular from last year's Black List of un-produced scripts. Universal acquired Hollander's script, and the movie reportedly won't be the all-encompassing kind of biopic. Instead, it will follow Madonna in the early 1980s as she tried to get her first album released, while also dealing with fame, love and the "dismissive attitude of the music industry at the time." Michael De Luca, Brett Ratner's Ratpac and John Zaozirny from Bellevue Productions are producing the project.

If Madonna wanted to, she could certainly try taking a stab at directing a movie about herself, as she's previously directed Fifth and Wisdom and W.E. Of course, then you run into the problem of if she might gloss over key details from her life during this period for certain reasons. Regardless, if Blonde Ambition is anything like previous Black List scripts that were eventually made earned critical acclaim, like Whiplash or Manchester by the Sea, then this biopic may turn out to be something special.

Madonna has had a career that's as timeless as it is successful. But before anyone knew her by her singular moniker, or even as the "Material Girl," she was just Madonna Louise Ciccone, a Michigan girl with dreams of music stardom. Those dreams came true during her breakthrough singles in the early 80's, and the story of those early days are the highlight of a new script Universal has just acquired, entitled Blonde Ambition.

The project, written by newcomer Elyse Hollander, was the most popular entry on last year's prestigious Black List of popular unproduced scripts. Blonde Ambition isn't a cover-all biopic from the sounds of it, as the project distinctly focuses on her rising popularity, her love life, and problems with the record industry in the early 1980's. Other than those aspects, further details on the project are currently unavailable, but seeing as the film is in early days, it's no surprise.

For a script like Blonde Ambition, that Black List cred can go a long way, and this honor certainly puts the film in some good company when it comes to past nominees. Previous Black List scripts that eventually made their way into production include titles such as Manchester By The Sea and Whiplash... as well as infamous entries like Passengers and the still unreleased Patient Zero. That said, overall a better comparison might be better drawn to fellow 2016 honoree I, Tonya, which is a biopic that also examines the subject of fame, albeit from a more negative lens.

Blonde Ambition's development success is indicative of something that Hollywood has been pushing towards for some time now: diversity in the stories being told, as well as the people telling them. With a strong, female lead biopic in the works, Elyse Hollander's deal with Universal shows that the industry is making some efforts to break the mold. Though an interesting detail, that wasn't covered in the original report by Variety, we'll be looking forward to investigating is what Madonna's own reaction to the script will be, and whether she'll sign on as a consultant of some sort.

The involvement of a biopic's real subject has been known to throw a wrench in the gears of productions in the past, for example with the Freddie Mercury/Queen project that almost starred Sacha Baron Cohen. For now though, there's no plans for a production start date or release date for Blonde Ambition. But as soon as new details head our way, we'll let you know.

That's a level of confidence many men wish they could have. There's not a hint of embarrassment to be found on Taye Diggs face or thighs as he channels his inner Madonna and goes all "Vogue" on the cast of Lip Sync Battle! Of course, Diggs is gonna have to be confident if he hopes to topple one of the biggest names in R&B, Ne-Yo, who is quite used to taking the stage for fans. Diggs definitely brought some passion to the table, but how did he do with the rest of the look?

Just because I was so critical of Kate Upton's Britney Spears costume, I feel like I have to rip into Taye Diggs a little here. By my count, Madonna does four costume changes throughout the course of her music video for "Vogue". Of those four costume changes, the iconic cone bra outfit is not one of them, as it made its debut during Madonna's iconic Blonde Ambition tour in 1990. At least it's the same era. That outfit ended up selling for $52,000 at auction years later, too, so I wonder how much Diggs can sell his for?

Minus that inconsistency and the fact that this clip from Lip Sync Battle is in color, everything else from the video is on point. The giant fans, well-dressed men, black bras, and some extensive arm choreography are all on display. Even Chrissy Teigen got in on the act as the center of some faux paparazzi. And if anyone was interested to know if LL Cool J is having a good time, that answer is yes.

I wonder if Taye Diggs channeling Madonna means his opponent Ne-Yo will get all gussied up for his performance as well. I certainly hope so, as Diggs is already at a disadvantage going up against a professional like Ne-Yo! The latter's outfit looks familiar but I can't nail down who he's trying to imitate when they show him in costume next to LL Cool J. Whatever he's wearing screams '90's hip-hop to me, but it also screams AC/DC so we'll just have to wait and see.

I suppose we'll get our answer soon, as Lip Sync Battle is all new this Thursday at 10 p.m. ET on Spike. I'll be rooting for Taye Diggs, because honestly, he won it to me the minute he squeezed into that outfit. I'm sure Ne-Yo will have an impressive performance up his sleeve, too, so let's hope commitment and fearlessness play a big factor in the audience's decision, so Diggs' Madonna can be rewarded justly! It sounds like Madonna's family is growing by two! The superstar has adopted twin girls from the African country of Malawi this week. I guess Beyonce isn't going to be the only one with two more little children to take care of this year.

Madonna herself took to Instagram to confirm the adoption of her two new daughters Esther and Stella on Wednesday afternoon, writing that she is "overjoyed" to have them in her family and sharing her gratitude to the country of Malawi.

The High Court of Malawi approved Madonna's adoption of twin four-year-old girls on Tuesday, Malawi's judiciary spokesperson Mlenga Mvula confirmed to PEOPLE. The site also states that Madonna was joined by her father, her brother, and her other four children at the adoption proceeding.

Her two new daughters, named Stella and Esther, are the third and fourth children that Madonna has adopted from Malawi. She adopted her son David Banda from the country in 2006, and her daughter Mercy James in 2009, both of whom are 11 years old. Along with Madonna's two biological children --- Lourdes Leon, 20, and Rocco Ritchie, 16 --- the global superstar is now mommy to six kids.

Stella and Esther's mother died a week after she gave birth to the twins, and since their grandmother couldn't provide for them, they were taken to an orphanage, Mlenga Mvula explained. Mvula went on to describe the happiness he saw in Madonna after her adoption of the twins was confirmed.

Awww, it sounds like those kids are definitely going to a loving home.

Although Madonna did initially deny the news that she was adopting more children while in Malawi last week, it appears as though she's had her eyes on little Stella and Esther for quite some time. Back in July of 2016, she posted a photo of her daughter Lourdes holding Stella and Esther when they were still in the Malawi orphanage.

Madonna has a very involved history with the country of Malawi. Not only has she now adopted four children from the African nation, but she also founded the Raising Malawi charity in 2006 to combat the extreme poverty in the country through health and education initiatives. Mlenga Mvula said that it was Madonna's decade of philanthropic work with the country that largely helped her adoption of Stella and Esther get approved.

Could Madonna be planning on expanding her family? After the global superstar took a trip to Malawi recently --- the country from which she adopted her youngest two children --- a lot of people were convinced that she was going to come home with another little one. But, Madge is shutting down those rumors completely.

After a government spokesman named Mlenga Mvula told the Associated Press that Madonna had appeared before the High Court in Malawi on Wednesday morning to request an adoption, the news broke wide with various outlets reporting that the singer would be adopting her third child from the country, and her fifth child overall. But, it appears as though Madonna was solely in the African country for business, not for personal reasons. She told PEOPLE that she was not in the process of any adoptions, and was visiting the country on behalf of her charity Raising Malawi.

Madonna has a long and involved history with the country of Malawi. After she had already given birth to her two children Lourdes Leon and Rocco Ritchie, the singer chose to adopt her third and fourth children from the nation. She adopted David Banda in 2006 and Mercy James in 2009. Madonna's also be involved in her Raising Malawi charity organization for more than ten years now. She founded the organization in 2006 with the mission of eliminating the extreme poverty and health crises of the country by funding education programs and health centers.

Prior to debunking these adoption rumors, Madonna was most recently in the news for her participation in the Women's March on Washington over the weekend. The singer was one of the millions of people marching to voice their disapproval of Donald Trump being sworn in as President of the United States. Several celebrities gave speeches at the event, but Madonna's created the most controversy, as she admitted to thoughts of blowing up the White House. Madonna responded to those who took issue with her speech in a lengthy note on Instagram, saying that it was taken out of context. Her Instagram profile has since been set to private.

Thankfully, it looks like Madonna is finding some time to relax and have fun with her family in between her performances and charity trips. The singer tweeted out a photo of her youngest daughter Mercy on Sunday wishing her a happy birthday.
