Given Margot Robbie’s stellar performance as Harley Quinn, it's understandable as to why fans would want to see her in more superhero fare. In that regard, she's been the subject of various casting rumors over the years, even Invisible Woman chatter linked to Matt Shakman's The Fantastic Four: First Steps. It's more recently been alleged that she may make the jump from the DCU to the MCU. Obviously, nothing is set in stone as far as the general public knows but, regardless, the characters mentioned in this latest report are excellent.

Superhero movie-related rumors can definitely be wild, and this latest bit of gossip on Robbie from Main Middle Man on X fits the bill. However, I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't at least be intrigued by the notion of her playing either of the two roles mentioned:

So, first and foremost, both of these characters have ties to X-Men, which is being rebooted at Marvel Studios. The notion of Robbie playing the diamond-shelled telepath Emma Frost would make a lot of sense. The Barbie star definitely looks like the character and has the charisma needed to play her. Yet she'd also be an intriguing pick for Raven Darkhölme/Mystique, the blue, shapeshifter who's typically portrayed as Magneto's right-hand woman.

It shouldn't come as a surprise that fans have all kinds of thoughts. In terms of a potential Mystique casting, one fan, Rain, ask if she would be a “variant like how Cavill was for Wolverine?” That's a fair question, considering the MCU is still in the midst of the Multiverse Saga. It's also worth mentioning that Rebecca Romijn is reprising her role as Mystique (from the 2000s X-Men flicks) in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

There are also some fans who seem to think Margot Robbie would be a better fit for another X-Men character. A couple of users suggested she should play Rogue, who was previously played Anna Paquin on the big screen. They're particularly interested in Rogue's ability to take - and use - the powers of fellow mutants. On that note, Flashpoint56 says:

Nevertheless, there does seem to be fan-based interest in Robbie taking on the role of Raven. One fan in the comments even pitched another Marvel Special Presentation that could show Mystique giving birth to Nightcrawler. Such a project is probably a long shot but, hey, wilder things have happened right?

As far as Marvel's mutants go, I'm not sure just how many people would've expected Romijn to return for Doomsday or Alan Cumming to return to his role as Nightcrawler in that film as well. The pair will also be joined by fellow X-Men franchise alums like James Marsden, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen, who are reprising, Cyclops, Professor X and Magneto, respectively.

On the whole, what seems to be very clear is that fans and scoopers are clamoring for news on the cinematic future of the X-Men. Rumors have been flying around left and right and, just this week, it was alleged that Adam Driver was in contention for Magneto in the Jake Schreier-helmed reboot.

More rumors are bound to crop up in the lead-up to the reboot, and fellow upcoming Marvel movies Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars. For now, though, I like the notion of Margot Robbie joining this world and, even if she doesn't play a mutant, I'm sure there's a place for her within the franchise.

If there’s one ingredient that Wuthering Heights absolutely needed to work, it was two movie stars who could make us hang on every word they spoke to each other as Cathy and Heathcliff. Emerald Fennell’s movie definitely lucked out with Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, but they knew what they needed to have, too. Robbie said she wanted “insane chemistry,” and there was a clear moment when she realized she had it with her co-star. Funny enough, that scene isn’t actually in the movie.

After Wuthering Heights became one of the biggest 2026 movie releases and available to watch on streaming, it’s interesting to know more about the behind-the-scenes of it all. In an interview with Refinery29, Robbie said there was one scene when she and Elordi knew they “got it” as an on-screen couple:

What a wild, fun fact! I would think they’d want the moment the Wuthering Heights co-stars really clicked on set to be kept in the movie, but then again, part of what makes this film good is all the yearning. As Robbie explained:

Oh, but now I want to see this scene! I could totally see these two characters getting too close for comfort while in their shared home without even realizing it, since they grew up together, and then kind of pulling back in more public-facing moments. That being said, I totally trust that if that wasn’t the right move for those characters, it wasn’t right for the movie either. What a good feeling that must have been, though.

When CinemaBlend had the chance to speak to writer/director Fennell, we asked her why it takes so long for the pair to kiss, and she said it was important that she make it “frustrating” for the audience to see these two share scenes but not get intimate yet because “the wait is the fun.” And during our chat with Robbie and Elordi, they told us they think Heathcliff and Cathy fell in love in their very first scene together when they were kids

While it’s easy as an audience member to yell at the TV screen, “just kiss!” in the context of the story – which isn’t really supposed to be an epic romance – they are from two different class systems, and it was considered wrong for them to decide to be a couple or fraternize before marriage. Ultimately, while we yearn for these two, they have an incredibly tragic story. But it’s entertaining nonetheless!

Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights adaption hit the 2026 movie schedule earlier this year, and the film still remains a major topic of conversation. Critics had a mixture of thoughts on the Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi-led film, but something many agreed on was the notion of it delivering steamy scenes. Director Emerald Fennell also tried to create a movie that was period appropriate, which meant Margot Robbie grew out hairy armpits for the movie.

Unfortunately, the audience never gets to see the effort, as a scene Fennell shot focusing in on Robbie's pits was ultimately left on the cutting room floor. Now, Fennell is opening up about that discarded content and sharing her regrets about not including it in the finished production.

While Wuthering Heights deviates from Emily Brontë’s 1847 novel in a few ways, it still retains the 19th century setting from the text. One of Fennell’s goals seemed to be to convey some of the similarities and differences between how women conduct themselves now and back in the 1800s. It seems personal grooming was part of that as well. Fennell recently spoke at the Hay Festival in Wales, where she discussed (via The Guardian) cutting material that would’ve highlighted a physical feature of Robbie’s Cathy:

Many of Margot Robbie’s film roles have called on her to look absolutely pristine, from her sizzling turn as Naomi Lapaglia in The Wolf of Wall Street to her performance as the plastic-like Barbie. For some people, seeing Robbie with hair-laden underarms may have been a bit jarring, but I completely understand why it would be necessary. It goes without saying that plenty of women opt to go natural today. Still, the deleted scene would have put a fine point on the notion of women not feeling so precious about shaving during the 1880s.

Such a scene could’ve been not only refreshing but empowering to see, and that may be why Emerald Fennell feels strongly about wishing she would’ve included those hairy pits. During her discussion, Fennell also questioned the lack of hair on characters who’ve appeared in screen adaptations of other 18th century-set stories:

Based on comments she’s shared about the film, which she also wrote, Emerald Fennell put a lot of time and effort into making Wuthering Heights aesthetically pleasing. Much has been said about Cathy’s various fits as well as the impressive production design. Much has also been said about Robbie and Elordi’s performances as Cathy and Heathcliff, who fall in love and have their share of sensual moments throughout the flick. (Of course, those familiar with the book have also been letting newbies know that the two are “bad people.”)

Emerald Fennell’s movie is what it is, though and, with that in mind, I doubt we’ll see any kind of campaign for the release of a “hairy armpit cut.” Of course, what I’d like to know is exactly why that footage doesn’t appear in the movie at all, because Fennell didn’t provide a concrete reason for its exclusion. Regardless, it seems that’ll just be one piece of film moviegoers will just have to be without, barring any kind of change.

Wuthering Heights is one of those 2026 movie releases we’re still thinking about months after it came out, especially now that it recently hit streaming (you can watch it with an HBO Max subscription). While audiences who watched the movie without reading Emily Brontë’s classic might not have known this going in, the story is more of a tragedy than a romance, but there is certainly love between Cathy and Heathcliff to talk about. SPOILERS AHEAD.

When CinemaBlend interviewed the cast of Wuthering Heights, we asked Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi about the moment they thought they each fell for the other, and their thoughts totally make sense to me. Here’s what Elordi had to say:

Heathcliff and Cathy meet when they are children after Cathy’s father rescues Heathcliff from the streets. While Elordi thinks it’s love at first sight for Heathcliff, here’s what Margot Robbie said:

The actors have the same idea about when the characters get heart eyes for the other, which is the moment they each met underneath a bed. You can check out their comments below:

Their thoughts on when their characters develop feelings for each other definitely add a new layer to Wuthering Heights for me, because it means that these characters were always fighting their urges to be more than siblings/friends since they met. Knowing this only makes their yearning for the other feel more intense and perhaps gives more context as to why their romance becomes so explosive and messy once they do admit their feelings for each other.

It makes me think about Heathcliff and his growing disdain for Cathy as the movie goes on. He loves her and wants to be with her and must have felt her mutual feelings, but he’s rejected and becomes vengeful of her. It also doesn’t help that they were inseparable as kids, because it only makes it more difficult for the pair to not be together.

Ultimately, Cathy dies before they can ever really be a couple. While she doesn’t get to say her last words to Heathcliff, Robbie told us she thinks they would be “I hate you,” which she said “always means ‘I love you.’” Writer/director Emerald Fennell shared with CinemaBlend that she imagines Heathcliff would be “emotionally destroyed” after the end of the movie and live a “kind of half-life” without Cathy. Heartbreaking, isn’t it?

Wuthering Heights may be a love it/hate it type of movie considering all its polarizing opinions, but no matter what you think about it, one thing is pretty undeniable. It’s got style, and it’s got vision. After having a blast watching it in a theater packed with women earlier this year, I revisited it on streaming with an HBO Max subscription, and one thing I noticed even more this time is how Cathy’s fits stay true to one color palette the whole time, and I think it’s worth diving into.

Of course, I couldn’t take my eyes off of all of Cathy’s clothes going full bodice core during both viewings, but this time all the coordination was impossible to look away from. These are just a few examples below:

So, what’s up with these particular colors? While I would have theorized it would have something to do with red being the shade associated with passion and desire, when CinemaBlend spoke to writer/director Emerald Fennell, she had some interesting thoughts about why she dressed Margot Robbie in the same palette throughout. In her words:

Now this is interesting. Cathy needed to “burn” through every moment on screen. During the filmmaker’s chat with us, she also spoke about how the expression of a character’s personality through something like clothing is very specific to Gothic cinema. The genre often evokes intensity that we wouldn’t see in other movies, so the lavish use of red is all part of it. You can check out her full thoughts below:

As she says, it’s not just about the costumes. It was also through the textures she decided to use throughout the sets. I know I’ll never forget this movie’s skin wall, which was actually fashioned out of actual scans of Robbie’s own skin to represent what it feels like for Cathy to be a “collector’s item” to her husband once she gets married.

Fennell’s explanation of the Gothic genre also helps make sense of some of the objects in the movie being exaggerated sizes or how long we have to wait for Cathy and Heathcliff to kiss. Everything is more dramatic and hyperbolic than you’d expect from other movies.

I don’t know about you, but I really appreciate Emerald Fennell’s eye for making her films very distinct, and Wuthering Heights knocks it out of the park in that respect.

Now that Wuthering Heights is streaming, there’s something I was wondering about: Just how long does it take for Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi’s characters to kiss? It takes an hour and 23 minutes in a movie that is just over two hours, and that feels like a very long time. But that was “of course” intentional by writer/director Emerald Fennell.

It’s called “yearning,” honey, and Wuthering Heights has all the ingredients to get audiences all hot and bothered about Cathy and Heathcliff’s slow burn romance-turned-tragedy. When CinemaBlend spoke to Fennell about making us wait so long to see these two smooch, here’s what she said:

While it’s easy to yell at the screen, “just kiss already!” it’s not that simple for these characters who are living in 18th century England, which was a time when their love story defies what’s appropriate for the two of them in society. As Fennell added in our interview:

If these two just kissed and had a happily ever after from the jump, it wouldn’t be quite as entertaining and as enjoyably “frustrating” as it is. I know when I watched this initially with a packed theater full of women, it felt like everyone was on the edge of their seats over Cathy and Heathcliff’s “will they/won’t they” storyline.

The Wuthering Heights movie is based on Emily Brontë's book of the same name, though Emerald Fennell decided to take some creative liberties with the material, which led to some polarizing opinions from viewers. (You can check out our own Wuthering Heights review yourself.)

Cathy and Heathcliff grew up together in the same estate in the Yorkshire Moors, but Heathcliff was picked up off the streets. While they have an undeniable chemistry with one another and Heathcliff makes his attraction to her known, Cathy denies him, and he runs away.

Complications grow when Cathy meets a new arrival to her neighborhood, a wealthy textile merchant named Edgar, and she earns his affections. I don’t know about you, but I can’t stop thinking about the ending of Wuthering Heights, and in our interview with Robbie, she gave us insights into what she thinks her last words to Heathcliff would’ve been.

When Emerald Fennell was making Wuthering Heights, she cited wanting to make it this generation’s Titanic – even though she ultimately told us she chose to make it R-rated because she wanted to make that movie that “feels right” and not worry much about the MPA rating. It turns out, part of making that happen involved forcing us to wait a while for the two main characters to kiss.

Barbie's Margot Robbie Won An Insane Plank Challenge

During the filming of Barbie (which is available to stream with an HBO Max subscription), there’s no denying how tight-knit the cast was with one another. Whether they got together for a “sexy Barbie sleepover” party or reunited for the film’s screenplay book release, the Barbieland residents were inseparable. And this included at the gym.

However, Grazia Magazine reported that Margot Robbie’s personal trainer for the movie, David Higgins, had the cast and crew get together for a little plank challenge. Lo and behold, the film’s lead ended up being the winner out of the cast!

Based on PopBase’s image (via X), we see the actress flip two birds and stick her tongue to the camera, standing by the whiteboard displaying her plank challenge win. You’ve gotta admit that in that photo, it looks like Robbie is channeling her Harley Quinn character right there.

Higgins came first, of course, with a time of 5 minutes and 32 seconds. However, Robbie came in an impressive second with a time of 4 minutes and 10 seconds.

I can’t even do a single push-up, yet the Wuthering Heights actress can stay in position on the floor for 4 minutes. That’s the female empowerment that Barbie lives on. And Brie Larson, watch out!

Is Bodice Core In For Spring?

We can thank Emerald Fennell, Margot Robbie and costume designer Jacqueline Durran for this spring’s styles. Robbie wore 45-50 of these similar looks in Wuthering Heights, and the movie’s take has really translated for spring. I love the mix of fabrics, which is similar to the textured looks Robbie wore for WH press. I love the little details like the ties near her elbows and the beading on the corset bodice. If this is the style to look for this spring, I’m here for it.

The idea you can pair flat booties or loafers with a long and lush dress would not have occurred to me to be a modern look; it’s typically the type of thing you’d see from characters mucking about in nature in the 1800s. It works though, and the general feel of Wilde’s Eden dress and accessories feels like something I haven’t really seen before, plus Wilde admitted in her Instagram post that wearing flats was a delightful change of pace.

Look, that print is bold, and I’d be willing to bet it’s not for everyone, but I like that Wilde occasionally takes some fun risks with her fashion. We've also seen her pay homage to other trends that have come out of movies and TV shows, such as the sheer Oscars look she wore that seemed to nod at Daisy Jones and the Six.

In this case, I feel like corset dresses have been all over carpets in recent years. We’ve been talking about them ever since Taylor Swift rocked one at the Grammys in 2024. However, going this romantic route feels brand new and also feels like a way to have fun with fashion this spring.

If it’s also a nod to one of the best movies to come out in 2026, I’m here for it. It’s not often we see movies spin off into fashion palettes, but as more movies geared to women become big box office adventures, we’re seeing it happen more often, and honestly Margot Robbie is really at the forefront of that with some help from her newer stylist Andrew Mukamal. What Brian Cox Thinks About Johnny Depp And Other Hollywood Stars

Cox wrote a memoir in 2021, and in it, he took aim at a number of other actors. The Times includes several of these quotes, including the fact that he called Johnny Depp “so overblown, so overrated.” Cox nearly appeared alongside Depp in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise as he was offered the role of the Governor, which was ultimately played by Jonathan Pryce.

Cox’s memoir came out during the period when Johnny Depp was more known for being involved in lawsuits than for making movies, so it's perhaps not that big of a shock for another actor to take a shot at him. Certainly, there are many who still don’t hold the actor in high regard following the accusations leveled against him.

Cox's less-than-flattering opinions on others, like Edward Norton, Ian McKellen, and Quentin Tarantino, are also raised. The Tarantino comments are perhaps especially interesting considering Tarantino recently made his own headlines for calling out Paul Dano and other actors that he didn't care for. However, another actor who Cox singled out in this interview is a bit more surprising.

What Brian Cox Said About Margot Robbie And Wuthering Heights

It turns out that the 1939 film adaptation of Wuthering Heights is a particular favorite movie of Brian Cox, so the actor is asked about his opinion on the new film from Emerald Fennell that starred Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi. While Cox, at least by the time of the interview, hadn’t seen the new movie, he still had an opinion, saying…

While Cox’s comments aren’t exactly an insult, it’s still somewhat surprising to hear him make such comments. While it may be “wrong” of him to judge, he clearly still has an opinion. And to be fair, he isn’t alone in that opinion. Margot Robbie’s casting in Wuthering Heights was questioned by fans of the original novel who felt she wasn’t the right actress for the part.

Margot Robbie Is Properly Obsessed With Sarah J. Maas' Books

Margot Robbie just reminded us just how much she’s into both the author’s famous series during an interview with Bustle from back when she was promoting Wuthering Heights with writer/director Emerald Fennell. Here’s what she said:

In the interview, she called herself a “serial re-reader” who found herself between the pages of the Court of Thorns and Roses and Throne of Glass books over and over, and she found it difficult to put them away and move on. And, for context, if you aren’t too familiar, there are five ACOTAR books with more confirmed to be on the way and eight Throne of Glass novels. So, of course, that has us perking up since Robbie has a great track record as a producer.

In addition to Robbie being super into Maas’s work, she’s also become acquainted with the author after famously having coffee with her in New York City in 2024. When the Barbie star and producer was asked by Harper’s Bazaar about their relationship, she said this:

The Latest From Sarah J. Maas About Adapting ACOTAR

What may explain the slowdown of the ACOTAR TV show is Maas’s recent comments from early March about where she’s at with them. She said that she has the rights back to “everything” now after Disney previously had them, and her focus right now is on delivering the next books she’s announced. She also shared this:

So, while Robbie could very well be on her list mentally to collaborate with, she’s intentionally deciding not to place her attention on a TV show adaptation at this time. As she continued:

While it definitely is a bummer that we’re not getting an ACOTAR TV show already, Hulu recently scrapping the Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV show after a pilot filmed definitely has us thinking that maybe it just wasn’t meant to be yet. Nothing Against His Recent Work, But I Miss The Old Bradley Cooper

There is nothing wrong with Bradley Cooper’s latest directorial efforts, as both Maestro and Is This Thing On? were great dramas with a whole lot of heart and soul. In fact, there’s still a case to be made for his take on A Star Is Born being one of the best dramas over the past decade. That said, I miss the old Bradley Cooper, the guy who brought funny and cynical characters you loved to hate to the big screen in everything from the Hangover movies to Wedding Crashers to his work in the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy (though the latter example is more recent).

Again, Cooper has brought out some great performances from the likes of Will Arnett, who critics said was “heartbreaking and lovely” in Is This Thing On?, and even himself in each of the movies mentioned above. It’s not like those films aren’t fun, as Cooper can still pull off some magic on both sides of the camera. It’s just that I really miss that wild, unpredictable, and aggressive presence he brought to his earlier work. That said, I think we can get there again…

I Think Helming The Ocean's Prequel Could Get Him Back On Top

While I’m not certain the new Ocean's prequel will get him off the list of actors who shockingly never won an Oscar, I do think this yet-to-be-titled project could get him back on top of the world again. The movie, which has admittedly been in development hell for years now, is said to be set in 1960s Europe and will reportedly focus on Danny Ocean’s (George Clooney) parents, years before the ringleader of the group that pulled off a multi-million-dollar heist of three casinos in one night.

As Cooper has shown in the likes of American Hustle and The Hangover, he has this incredible knack of playing characters who are so charismatic that you just can’t help but fall for them despite them being degenerate, inconsiderate, and over-the-top. Having him play a character like that in the Ocean's universe is a no-brainer and feels like something that’s right up his alley. I don’t know anything about what he has planned for his character, or the movie in general, but this could be so much fun to watch, especially when it comes to the impact on his career.

Cooper Has Shown He's Handy At Offering A New Take On An Established Property

Again, not a lot has been confirmed about the prequel movie, but I do have faith in the project with Cooper starring, writing, and directing the new crime flick. I mean, he’s shown that he knows a thing or two about offering a new take on an established property, especially when you start talking about A Star Is Born. Over the years, the various versions of this story have been wildly different from one another, with the only shared similarities being the basic premise of two people trying to make sense of their lives as their careers go in opposite directions.

The movie worked in more ways than one and became a massive success at the box office and as part of the public consciousness following its release. There’s no reason to think that the new film will be any different. Cooper has so much experience working in crime films, movies set in Las Vegas, and films with loud and over-the-top yet realistic characters, and so I think he has what it takes to offer a new spin on this beloved franchise. I’m not saying I want a darker or grittier thriller that reveals why Danny Ocean is the way he is, but there’s a lot of room for Cooper to work here.

Plus, The Idea Of Him Sharing The Screen With Margot Robbie Seems Just Too Cool

Doing research for this story, I was shocked to learn that Cooper and Margot Robbie have never been in a movie together. They’ve both worked with just about every major star in Hollywood (and legendary directors), but up until now, they’ve never shared a scene together. A lot still has to be worked out with the Oceans' prequel, but we’re closer than ever to seeing arguably two of the biggest stars of the 21st century not only appear in the same movie, but also work extensively together.

I don’t know about you, but it feels like the sky is the limit for this movie with Robbie and Cooper at the top of the cast. They both have so much personality, charisma, and, on top of that, incredible acting ability. Though I would have loved to have seen a Barbie reunion for Robbie and Ryan Gosling before the Project Hail Mary star dropped out, this pairing honestly has me extremely excited for what’s to come.

Only time will tell what the Ocean's prequel (whatever it ends up being called) does for Bradley Cooper’s career, but I won’t be surprised if we’re all chanting “We are back, baby” at some point in the very near future.

There’s no denying the talents of Margot Robbie, who has thrice been nominated for an Academy Award, but we also can’t ignore the obsession with the actress’s feet. Benny Blanco went viral last month when the music producer’s dirty dogs were shown on a podcast, but could he actually profit from this?

Fans called out Benny Blanco’s dirty feet after an episode of his podcast Friends Keep Secrets gave a peek at the bottom of his seemingly unwashed tootsies:

The image went viral for obvious reasons, as fans were practically screaming at him to take his filthy tootsies off of the furniture. Some, however, saw that dirt and saw dollar signs. The influencer brand The Circle has reportedly reached out to Benny Blanco (per TMZ) to help him launch a subscription-based account built around his feet. I’m not sure that even Margot Robbie can boast such a thing — and yes, she has had her own viral dirty feet moment.

The Circle is supposedly offering to hook Benny Blanco up with a filming strategy, camera angles and foot cam-style content, with foot-inspired collaborations also on the table. My goodness, who knew there was so much money in not mopping your floors?

While the attention to the feet of Selena Gomez’s husband may be comparable to the Barbie star’s, it’s definitely for different reasons. The popularity of Margot Robbie’s feet seemed to hit a fever pitch when the trailer for Greta Gerwig’s 2023 movie revealed that the iconic pose was integral to Barbie’s plot:

Yeah, that is … not the same as Benny Blanco. One thing the two do have in common, however, is WikiFeet. There are 137 photos of the record producer’s feet on the site, and they've garnered a score of 3 out of 5 stars. To be fair to Benny Blanco, the podcast episode was filmed at co-host Dave Burd’s (aka Lil Dicky) house, not his own, so he can’t be blamed for the non-cleanliness of the floors. Burd even said when the two appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that it was the first day of shooting their podcast, and crew members had been in and out with equipment all day, contributing to the griminess that ended up on his buddy’s feet.

Benny Blanco even got his redemption arc, showing that his foot hygiene may not be as scarce as it seemed:

Considering how iconic his Ken performance ultimately became, his love for working on the flick, and how huge the movie turned out to be, it’s safe to say the effort paid off. During the conversation, she explained that Gosling didn’t immediately jump at the chance to play Ken. As the realization hit that her Wuthering Heights co-lead was sitting right beside her while she described this elaborate gift campaign for Gosling, the entire couch erupted into laughter. Amanda Seyfried didn’t hesitate to pile on either, jokingly pointing out that the situation wasn’t the Australian native’s fault. “That was you. That was on you,” Seyfried told Elordi. Elordi, meanwhile, responded with perfectly timed deadpan delivery:

Of course, the Wolf of Wall Street breakout actress’s bribery campaign clearly worked out in the end. Gosling’s Ken became one of the standout elements of Barbie, streaming with an HBO Max subscription, helping turn the movie into a cultural phenomenon and one of the year's biggest box office hits. Still, it’s pretty funny to imagine the Oscar-nominated actor opening his trailer door each day to find another small surprise waiting for him.

And, if nothing else, the moment on The Graham Norton Show may have revealed a useful casting strategy for Robbie going forward. Though if Jacob Elordi signs on to another project with her, he might want to negotiate for the daily gifts upfront next time.

Over the years Robbie revealed her favorite movie sex scene, and also got honest about her nerves about nudity in The Wolf of Wall Street. Love scenes are part of the job for many actors out there, and filming is way less sexy than the edit might lead you to believe. During an interview with E! News, the Barbie star spoke about this dynamic by saying:

This makes a ton of sense. Actors like Heated Rivalry's Connor Storrie has spoken about how shooting sex scenes is not vey glamorous or sexy IRL. Actors have to not only do the choreography of those scenes, but are keenly aware about where the camera is so that the right angles are captured. So Robbie's comments about the difficulty of being "in the moment" totally track.

Most recently Robbie shot sex scenes for Wuthering Heights, which has been polarizing both fans and critics. That book to screen adaptation paired her with Jacob Elordi, and later in the same interview she spoke about what scenes allowed her to really be in the moment. In her words:

While Robbie and company still had to hit their marks and say their lines, it sounds like the argument scenes in Wuthering Heights allowed for the actors to explore and play. And it's fascinating to learn how the sausage gets made, especially when the final result of love scenes are so strongly juxtaposed to what it's like to shoot those sequences.

Sex scenes sound fairly awkward to film, but luckily intimacy coordinators have been added to sets in recent years. That crew position is to ensure that everyone involved feels safe and comfortable while doing such vulnerable work. And as a result love scenes are treated like stunt scenes.

The movie was also Robbie's breakthrough role, and it was quite a feat. She recently admitted to being anxious about “getting naked” for the film, but that all changed due to a major epiphany.

In the film, after Jordan Belfort meets lingerie designer Naomi Lapaglia at a party, they head back to his place, and she reveals her birthday suit to the Wall Street broker. Margot Robbie previously said it was her idea for her character to come out “completely naked”, compared to in a robe, to fully portray Naomi using sex as a power dynamic. However, the Aussie actress revealed in a BTS interview with Paramount Pics about how she had to get over the initial trepidation of being in the nude while cameras were rolling:

While Robbie was getting paid for this role, I think she's a real trooper for having faced her fears for the sake of her art. It seems that what changed her perspective was the simple realization that her nude scenes weren't amongst the wildest feats that any actor had to perform on set. So it sounds like there was a bit of comfort to be found in the fact that her colleagues were also being pushed out of their comfort zones in certain ways. I mean, if you're going to go all in, why not do it as a group, right?

It’s true that many crazy scenes happen in The Wolf of Wall Street. For instance, Leonardo DiCaprio and his co-star, Jonah Hill, went “out on a limb” with the amazing improvisation they worked in the movie, making for an unpredictable filming experience. I love that under the direction of Scorsese, the Wolf cast was able to take some risks and see how far they could go to portray their outrageous characters.

As scary as it must have been for Margot Robbie to be fully nude in her first big movie, it's great that she got to work with a supportive team. During that same interview, she credited Leonardo DiCaprio for making her time on set a lot easier:

I can understand the notion of an actor feeling ease knowing their scene partner has their back (and in this case, I mean that physically and literally). All in all, it's wonderful that Robbie and DiCaprio seemingly had a firm level of trust with one another, (especially since there was even a time she was also worried she was going to stab DiCaprio with her heel in one sexually-explicit scene).

Even with everything she did amid filming, Robbie actually assumed she would be cut out of a lot of the Scorsese movie. However, as evidenced by the cringy WoWS screening she held for her family, those nude scenes remained intact in the final cut. While that was good for Robbie from a career standpoint, it did make for an awkward screening for her relatives.

Still, Margot Robbie's comments on her initial aversion to being nude on camera aren't just a testament to her ability to overcome personal hurdles. They also illustrate the power of strength in collaboration and knowing that others on set are aware of the awkward nature of a production and are taking risks, too. And, today, the Barbie actress feels more comfortable about being nude in her movies, provided her character is using it for a purpose and not being objectified.

They had a wide-ranging conversation about their collaboration in Emerald Fennell's book-to-screen adaptation as well as Robbie’s involvement as a producer. During the interview, the Babylon actress talked about how she sees the polarizing critical opinions surrounding WH and who she actually makes movies for:

This makes complete sense. In the grand scheme of it all, critics are such a small part of a movie’s audience. The general public are mainly the ones paying to see a movie and make up the bulk of the viewing populace. So it's understandable that Robbie would want to prioritize the actual audience going to see a film, rather than just critics. Robbie shared some additional thoughts on the subject:

Robbie's desire to entertain general audiences certainly shows in the way she choose productions and the filmmakers she chooses to work with. To me, Fennell was a great creative for Robbie invest in when she started producing films. She has worked with Fennell on all three of her feature films, Promising Young Women, Saltburn, and now,, Wuthering Heights. Fennell’s artistic approach is very visuals driven, with an often violent, sexual undertone to some off-putting stories.

Despite the occasional perverseness of Fennell's writing, there is something always interesting and intriguing about these films, and there are those who've come to enjoy her brand of storytelling. Robbie said of the filmmaker:

Critics have been mixed on Fennell over the years, and Wuthering Heights’ mixed reception falls in line with this pattern. However, the 76% audience score that the film currently has on Rotten Tomatoes suggests there are certainly those who've enjoyed it. Also, the period film's box office numbers have been relatively solid solid. This “audience-first” mentality seems to be serving both Fennell and Robbie well as collaborators. I personally can’t wait to see what they do next together and how they chose to expand their audience while also appealing to the fans they already have.

Fans of the Ocean’s franchise have two upcoming movies to look forward to from Warner Bros. Not only are George Clooney, Matt Damon and other actors from the original trilogy getting back together for the long-awaited Ocean’s 14, there’s also that Ocean’s prequel that Margot Robbie is starring in and producing. Unfortunately, that latter project just suffered a big setback, but that also came with a positive update.

Let’s start with the bad news first: Deadline reports that Lee Isaac Chung will no longer direct the Ocean’s prequel. The Minari filmmaker’s exit was described by a Warner Bros. spokesperson as a “an amicable split due to creative differences,” and the studio’s experience working with “has only deepened our enthusiasm to collaborate on future projects together.” The search for a new director is now underway, but it’s hard to say when we’ll learn who will take over from the Oscar-nominated Chung.

So obviously losing a director isn’t great, but the good news is this doesn’t seem like it’s a sign that the Ocean’s prequel is on its way to being shelved. Deadline also mentions that in the midst of Paramount acquiring Warner Bros., this project “remains an important project to get up and running.” So unless there are further problems, Margot Robbie’s Ocean’s prequel still has a bright future ahead of it, and hopefully enough progress will be made in 2026 that allows it to begin filming sometime next year.

It’s worth noting that Lee Isaac Chung isn’t the first director to leave the prequel. When it was first announced in May 2022, the plan was for Austin Powers’ Jay Roach to helm this feature set several decades before the events of Ocean’s Eleven. But that didn’t end up working out, nor did the first choice for Margot Robbie’s co-star. Had things gone according to the original plan, we would have had the Barbie duo of Robbie and Ryan Gosling back together.

Instead, as of October 2025, Bradley Cooper was in talks to take Gosling’s place, as he reportedly had a productive meeting with Lee Isaac Chung and has been wanting to work with Margot Robbie for years. Carrie Solomon wrote the most recent draft of the Ocean’s prequel’s screenplay, but the only plot details we know about the project is that it will be set in the 1960s. Robbie is producing through her LuckyChap banner.

In the meantime, Margot Robbie can currently be seen on the 2026 movies schedule playing Catherine Earnshaw in Wuthering Heights. Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights has such a distinct style. From the gothic sets to the super unique outfits, she’s created a world that made this adaptation of Emily Brontë’s novel all her own. This world was also soundtracked by Charli XCX, and now, the director – who described herself as a “psychotic details demon” – explained how she got the pop star to write music for this gothic romantic tragedy.

If you went and saw Wuthering Heights when it premiered on the 2026 movie schedule, you got to hear the mix of a beautiful score with the music of Charli XCX. That’s because the “Apple” singer wrote an album to accompany the film. Speaking about how this all happened with Baz Luhrmann for Interview Magazine, Fennell explained:

Now, before we get back to how Charli XCX was hired, let’s take a moment to detour and focus on the director calling herself a “psychotic details demon.” The Elvis director certainly did, as he stopped her to have the following back and forth:

• Baz Luhrmann: I’m going to call you that from now on, a psychotic details demon.
• Emerald Fennell: [Laughs] Well, it’s things like spending a whole day looking at different consistencies of male ejaculate.
• Baz Luhrmann: [Laughs] Absolutely.—

While Fennell’s movies are polarizing, I think many could agree that they are very detailed and she has a super distinct style. Her worlds in movies like Wuthering Heights and Saltburn are rich and detailed, and yes, those details include things like what was in the water during the bathtub scene in Saltburn.

Anyways, getting back to the music, Fennell’s detail-oriented book-to-screen adaptation of Wuthering Heights was something the Brat artist responded to, as the director explained:

Ultimately, Charli XCX wrote an album titled Wuthering Heights that features 12 tracks. It was released on the same day as the movie, and it’s worth noting that it came out while the singer was releasing another film that she was starring in.

As Fennell alluded to, Charli XCX is very busy. On top of being a musician, she’s also started dipping into the world of acting, as she starred in her own mockumentary about her Brat era called The Moment, which was released two weeks before Wuthering Heights. However, clearly, that did not get in the way of saying yes to other projects. And now we have both The Moment and stellar music inspired by (and used in) Wuthering Heights.

Overall, Wuthering Heights got mixed reviews; however, I’m very here for the unique vision Emerald Fennell had for it. The inclusion of pop music and the details in her sets, costumes and more made for a stunning set for this epic story. And if you'd like to see it for yourself, it's in theaters right now.

For years, I thought Wuthering Heights was just a cool, old-timey house name. Dramatic? Sure. Gothic? Absolutely. But meteorological? Not even remotely on my radar. And then I stumbled across an explainer for the 2026 movie release from The Weather Channel that completely reframed everything I thought I knew about the title. Suddenly, Emily Brontë’s windswept masterpiece makes a whole lot more sense.

According to The Weather Channel’s deep dive into the new book-to-screen adaptation starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, the word “wuthering” isn’t poetic fluff. It’s actually a regional term used in Yorkshire to describe turbulent, blustery, roaring wind. In other words, the title isn’t just naming a house, but describing the violent weather that batters it.

Mind officially blown.

The Yorkshire moors, where the story is set, are famously exposed and elevated, making them especially vulnerable to harsh conditions. In winter, the skies are reportedly overcast nearly two-thirds of the time. That constant gray ceiling is the result of high latitude and moisture rolling in from the nearby sea. The gloomy atmosphere isn’t a cinematic exaggeration but the meteorological reality.

Which means all those dark, menacing skies in adaptations of Wuthering Heights? Historically accurate. Fog plays an equally important role. The report points out that fog doesn’t just limit visibility, but also dampens sound. Water droplets in the air scatter and absorb sound waves, making voices and ambient noise feel muted. That eerie, isolating silence we associate with Catherine and Heathcliff wandering the moors? It’s scientifically plausible. The landscape quite literally swallows sound.

Then there’s the rain, because of course there’s rain. Romantic? Maybe on screen. In real life? Bone-chilling. Add wind to wet clothing, and you get evaporative cooling, which accelerates heat loss from your body. The result is that you feel significantly colder than the thermometer suggests. So those dramatic, rain-soaked confrontations aren’t just emotionally intense. They’re physically miserable and oppressive.

Even the ground plays its part. The Yorkshire moors are layered with peat, a dark, spongy material formed over thousands of years from partially decayed plant matter. Because peat has a very low albedo — meaning it absorbs rather than reflects light — it actually deepens the landscape’s gloom. The earth doesn’t bounce brightness back into the sky; it swallows it. Combine that with near-constant cloud cover, rolling fog, and relentless wind, and the result is a setting that feels less like a backdrop and more like a mood made physical.

The more I sit with that, the more the title makes perfect sense. Wuthering Heights isn’t just a dramatic name pinned to a lonely house. It’s a description of a place shaped, even defined, by turbulent weather. And that turbulence doesn’t merely frame Catherine and Heathcliff’s volatile relationship; it magnifies it. Their emotional chaos doesn’t unfold despite the stormy environment, but is intensified by it.

That’s what makes the newest adaptation, directed by Emerald Fennell as a follow-up to Saltburn, so fascinating. The film doesn’t attempt to tame the elements into something picturesque or politely romantic. Instead, it leans into the wildness. The wind-whipped moors and bruised skies feel like active forces in the story, heightening every confrontation and every yearning glance.

The movie has obviously been very polarizing, but audiences still seem to be responding to that intensity. With strong box office numbers and packed theaters, the film has become more than just another adaptation. It’s an experience. If Brontë used weather to externalize emotional upheaval on the page, Fennell translates that instinct to the screen without softening the edges.

So no, Wuthering Heights isn’t simply a moody Gothic address. It’s a literal reflection of a landscape defined by wind, fog, and darkened earth — and now that I understand what “wuthering” truly means, I’ll never hear that title the same way again.

It goes without saying Margot Robbie is a bonafide star, having starred in and produced one of 2023's biggest movies, Barbie, and she most recently headlined Wuthering Heights. Of course, fans shouldn't forget that the Robbie’s now-booming career was started due to her role in Martin Scorsese’s 2013 film, The Wolf of Wall Street. While Robbie herself seems to still be quite proud of the crime comedy film, it seems screening it for her relatives was still quite difficult.

During a recent episode of the SmartLess podcast, the Australian actress explained that due to the long editing process for Wolf of Wall Street, she assumed she’d be cut out of the movie and become just “a blip” on screen. Robbie also figured that with so many A-listers filling out the cast of the Scorsese flick, her screentime would be limited. (Boy, was she ever wrong!)

Robbie didn’t see her movie until the night before the premiere, and she eventually had a shocking revelation— her family members were going to see her nude scene and more! Her comments about screening the movie for them are just making me cringe:

I have second-hand embarrassment for the Oscar nominee even now! What's ironic is is that it was Robbie's idea for her character, Naomi, to “come out completely naked” in that scene in which she seduces Leonardo DiCaprio’s character, Jordan. For artistic purposes, it certainly worked, but Robbie's decision to go nude apparently made for an uncomfortable family movie night.

There’s no denying that Naomi is a very sensual character. If anything, the lingerie designer used sex as a weapon against Jordan, knowing he was powerless against temptation and addicted to the thrill of desire. So her being nude made sense from a storytelling perspective. However, it seems that by the end of the screening, Robbie's family wasn't so much thinking about the artistic value of what she'd done:

Whew, I can't even imagine being in that screening room following that showing. Still, I can understand why Robbie's brother may have feelings about content like the super awkward sex scene, where Naomi seduces Jordan while their baby daughter is in the room. But, at the end of the day, it’s Naomi on screen and not Margot Robbie, and the talented actress deserves props for fully dedicating herself to making her “Duchess of Bay Ridge” character as authentic as possible.

I'm not sure if Margot Robbie's family will watch The Wolf of Wall Street (which is streamable with a Paramount+ subscription) again anytime soon. Now, though, I want to know if the Robbie family got a chance to see Margot alongside Jacob Elordi in the steamy Wuthering Heights. That 2026 movie schedule release is now playing in theaters.

Based on when Wuthering Heights was released on the 2026 movie schedule, as well as its trailer, it's easy to assume that it will be a sweeping romantic tale. In some ways, it is; however, it’s by no means a happy one. In fact, it’s a really toxic story that focuses on two pretty bad people. Book readers knew that going into this experience; however, some movie newbies didn’t, and the people familiar with the source material have some words for them.

As someone who has not read Emily Brontë’s novel, I didn’t realize that Wuthering Heights wasn’t an epic romance until I was sitting in the theater. However, plenty of people who have read the novel that inspired this book-to-screen adaptation took to social media to let fans know what they’re getting into. In fact, palmtreefire posted a list of warnings on Threads. Writing:

Since it came out, Wuthering Heights reviews have been mixed, and the reactions have been polarizing. However, I do think we can all agree that whether you loved it or hated it, the characters are despicable, Wuthering Heights' ending is tragic, and this is by no means your average romance.

While Cathy and Heathcliff love each other, and have their own trauma they're battling, I would not say they're good people or that their poor choices are justified. They also, for the life of them, can't figure out how to handle their love in a healthy way.

In many ways, Cathy torments and tortures Heathcliff, and she does not treat him kindly. Meanwhile, Heathcliff is mean and abusive to others, especially after he returns. They're both selfish, rude, and inconsiderate to those around them. And all of this poor behavior is what makes this story such a complex and tragic romance. So, yeah, they’re both bad; that’s part of the point, and book readers have been saying that for quite some time.

I Loved My Experience Seeing Wuthering Heights In Theaters

I took my seat at my local theater at a busy mall to see Wuthering Heights on opening night on Thursday night to find that just about every seat was taken. As the movie unfolded, I realized that most of the audience consisted of women who had brought groups of their girlfriends with them to gasp and laugh together throughout. The collective sound and whispered asides from everyone watching the movie together and discussing it together as the credits rolled had the infectious energy of a sleepover as the movie went on.

Margot Robbie has suggested before that grabbing your besties is absolutely how she thinks the movie should be seen – citing her own screening with friends as “the most unhinged experience of [her] life”. I know a lot of people probably went on Valentine’s Day weekend dates to check out the movie, but oh my goodness, was Robbie right! I was living for the giggly gal pal fest, seeing this movie in a packed theater. And, I actually think it only helps that the movie is so polarizing because as everyone walked out, they were having a blast sharing their own opinions on the bold take on the Emily Brontë classic.

It Made Me Realize There’s Not Enough Women-Leaning Big Movies

While Wuthering Heights’ romance didn’t completely sweep me away, the experience of this collective female gaze we were all together to watch did. It reminded me quite a bit of when I saw Barbie in theaters a few years ago, all dressed in pink with my group of friends. Sure, there’s definitely a bigger message to grab on to with Barbie that I’ll be thinking more about than Wuthering Heights in the long run. I love that Robbie (who is a producer on the film) and Fennell made something specifically for women to come together in a cinema for, because we need all the reasons we can!

Ultimately, the familiar but rare feeling made me zoom out and think about the few times I’ve had this experience. While Wuthering Heights wasn’t a staple of my girlhood, it’s clear to me it was for a lot of women, which is why they turned out for this movie. I’ll never forget going to the Twilight movies with my friends in my teen years. Sure, we all knew they weren’t the pinnacle of cinema, but a big part of the experience was bonding with other ladies about an important piece of media to us, and I’d like to see more opportunities for that in upcoming movies.

It’s really not often at all that I go see a movie that’s mostly for the gals, and that’s wild to me. I mean – I understand why it’s the case. I think a lot of it has to do with there not being enough women filmmakers out there, and studios not taking enough chances on female-driven stories in big ways like Barbie and Wuthering Heights. I also think about a big phenomenon like Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour that our spending power (in the majority, of course) could turn into the highest-grossing concert tour ever.

While Emerald Fennell isn’t reaching the heights like the other titles I mentioned, it's moving the needle, and seeing Wuthering Heights reminds me of how impactful it is to have spaces catering to women in the mainstream. I hope Wuthering Heights success serves as another reason why female-driven stories on a big scale should be more commonplace.

Reactions to this latest adaptation of Emily Brontë’s 1847 novel have been polarizing, to say the least. While some general audience members and critics have been high on Fennell’s film, others seem indifferent or simply unimpressed. The movie’s lead actress, Margot Robbie, is aware of the chatter surrounding her latest flick, and she recently shared her take on all of it.

Ahead of Wuthering’s release, fans of the book were already sharing a plethora of varied opinions. So it honestly tracks that since the film has hit theaters, more than a few viewers seem to be divided on the period drama. As it stands, the movie has a 78% audience approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes against its 60% critic score. What I want to talk about is one element of the movie that made me feel like I was stuck in a horror movie.

I Couldn't Look Away From The Skin Room

When Margot Robbie’s Catherine Earnshaw gets married to the wealthy Edgar Linton in Wuthering Heights, he shows her around what will be her new home. I felt like I was in the middle of a Tim Burton or Guillermo del Toro movie, as things like red floors and protruding hands were found throughout the dwelling. But the thing that really stuck out to me regarding the set design was Cathy’s room, which has walls lined with what looks to be her skin.

From a distance, it looked like a cute pink room, but as the movie progressed, I noticed the details of the walls showing vein lines and freckles, and it was honestly making me squirm. The idea of being inside a room with wallpaper that looks like your own skin blown up as massive images is just incredibly uncomfortable, and felt like the perfect device for a scary movie. It was the last thing I was expecting from a Wuthering Heights film.

The Story Behind Wuthering Heights' Skin Room Is Even More Chilling

Upon further research, I learned that the skin room in Wuthering Heights is actually (kind of) made of Margot Robbie’s skin, too. Here’s what writer/director Emerald Fennell said during a screening of the film at the British Film Institute (via LadBible):

So, the movie was going for realism, and it achieved it! Don't get me wrong, Robbie has the most gorgeous skin, but literally anyone's would creep me out like this.

I think this is a really impressive bit of set design, but how good the material looks in regard to looking like skin really puts the nail in the coffin for me regarding the freaked-out factor. I do appreciate Fennell’s comments on the reasoning behind the room, because it definitely did a good job of visually representing the icky vibes Cathy feels in her quarters.

It’s too bad she ends up dying in that room in the movie, because knowing she was surrounded by her own skin just makes the whole ending sadder to me. Happy I got that off my chest, but I will never be sending photos of my skin for decor purposes. Back in early 2023, movie audiences were still unaware that pop culture’s near future would be taken over entirely by one of the most amusing and clever entertainment portmanteaus ever: Barbenheimer. It sparked an entire movement, and legitimately inspired people to rush out and watch Greta Gerwig’s Barbie and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer back to back, helping the former bring in over $1.4 billion at the box office, while the latter brought in around $950 million. It’s still quite the feat, even years later.

Robbie appeared on The Graham Norton Show to talk up her newest big-screen release, the sultry adaptation Wuthering Heights, which has done some box-office crushing of its own in its first weekend. Of course, she also reflected on the aforementioned success of Warner Bros.’ two blockbusters, and addressed a question that fans will still ask her about it, which sounds quite maddening to deal with. As she put it:

By all means, I realize not everyone out there grasps the ins and outs of how Hollywood works, and that there are lots of misunderstandings at play. (I have personally been blamed by readers in the past, via email, for TV shows being canceled, despite such decisions being above and completely unrelated to my paygrade.) But it’s still more than a little wild to me that there are those who believe the filmmakers somehow schemed this up alongside studio execs, since this would be the goal for literally all movies if there was any corporate inkling it would result in profits.

For the most part, studio heads are careful NOT to release two different high-profile features on the same day, since that comes with the risk of having audiences only spending money on one film or the other. Also, even if both of the movies were produced by Warner Bros., it's not like it's perfectly natural for any two competing movies to purposefully latch together for promotional purposes, so even from a creative standpoint, the idea to smoosh the two together isn't so organic. To Robbie's point:

In fact, Robbie followed that up by referencing a previously discussed anecdote about one of Oppenheimer’s producers gauging whether or not the Barbie team would be willing to adjust the toy-centered comedy’ release date. As she put it:

To be sure, Robbie clarified that this was more of a friendly conversation, and that Chuck Roven wasn't attempting to force the issue. But she also made it clear that the request was still serious enough to be a legit indication of how bullish (or not) Oppenheimer's team felt about competing with Barbie. (The shocked look on Amanda Seyfried's face as this story was told is priceless.) Had Robbie and Gerwig been willing to adjust things, there's little doubt that all involved would have supported the move.

That didn't happen though, obviously, and the dual release spawned both 2023's highest-earning movie of 2023 (Barbie), and third-biggest movie (Oppenheimer). While I can understand the need to learn that human brains intentionally set up such success, sometimes all it takes is some dumb luck and a social media frenzy.

If anyone needed proof of the longevity of Barbenheimer's success, look no further than Oppenheimer co-star Robert Downey Jr. suggesting "Dunesday," a combo-name for Dune 3 and Avengers: Doomsday, being used ahead of those upcoming 2026 releases dropping in December. Time will tell whether anybody uses that one or not.

The President’s Day Weekend was a big one at the box office, as it often is, but in many ways it was quite unusual. We saw three significant films open on the same day: Wuthering Heights, GOAT, and Crime 101. They were three very different films for three very different audiences, and while Wuthering Heights took home the box office crown, Crime 101 star Halle Berry is still celebrating her movie’s big opening.

Crime 101 opened in third place at the domestic box office, with only $16 million compared to Wuthering Heights ' $35 million. However, while the heist movie starring Halle Berry, Mark Ruffalo, and Chris Hemsworth may not have been seen by quite as many people, the people who have seen it seem to prefer it to Wuthering Heights. Halle Berry took to Instagram to celebrate the film’s Rotten Tomatoes success.

Crime 101 is officially a “Certified Fresh” movie, with a critics' score of 87%, slightly better than the still rock solid 84% score given by audiences. Both these numbers are far better than Wuthering Heights, which is far more divisive among critics, with a 60% score, and a 79% score among the audience.

Berry’s Instagram Stories are currently full of individual social media and Letterboxd reviews from a variety of people who saw Crime 101 and are singing its praises. The actress is certainly doing her part to raise the profile of the movie, and that, alongside the solid reviews, might help elevate the film’s box office in the weeks to come.

Crime 101 honestly feels like a movie from a different era. It’s not a franchise; it is based on a book, but for many, it likely appears to be a completely original film. Its primary selling point is its star power, like Chris Hemsworth and Halle Berry. It’s exactly the sort of movie that we don’t tend to see in theaters as much anymore, which is likely why the box office wasn’t better over the opening weekend.

To be fair, since Crime 101 is an Amazon MGM production, the box office probably isn't seen as the major focus of the film. While box office numbers are always good, odds are there will be a much bigger promotional push when your Prime Video subscription gives you access to the film in a few months.

The fact that Crime 101 is, by all accounts, a really good movie, will certainly help it find an audience eventually. If people don’t go to the theater, they could find it on VOD or on streaming. Of course, if the movie does continue to struggle at the box office, it almost certainly means that films like this, will only continue to dwindle and find homes elsewhere. If they’re made at all, that is.

Greta Gerwig was an A+ choice to direct Barbie, with which she conveyed the same themes of female empowerment that she explored in Lady Bird and Little Women. From coming up with the idea of the “I’m Just Ken” dance sequence to staging that brilliant Stanley Kubrick-inspired opening scene, Gerwig understood the assignment for a fun, yet thought-provoking, movie. The filmmaker also had a great idea for film’s end credits, though her wishes were ultimately denied.

The ending of Barbie sees the titular Mattel doll (played by Margot Robbie) choose to live as a human in the real world as a human, where she excitedly visits a gynecologist for the first time. However, Greta Gerwig told Extra TV that she had an idea to add onto that for the end-credits scene, and this is so adorable:

It’s so cute idea that Greta Gerwig would want to list all of the people who made the movie under that specific "A Film By" attribution. Many have said there’s no “I” in team, Gerwig seems to understand that. Sure, Gerwig brought her vision to Barbieworld, and the cast of Barbie brought the Mattel dolls and human characters to life.

Of course, credit was given to individuals like Noah Baumbach, Gerwig’s husband, who co-wrote the screenplay with her, and hair/makeup designer Ivana Primorac, who was responsible for over 30 of Margot Robbie’s outfit changes. However, it seems that wasn't meant to be. Nevertheless, kudos to Gerwig for coming up with such a wonderful idea. If anything, it signifies her understanding of the collaborative process of filmmaking.

A union like the Directors Guild of America can have very specific regulations regarding who gets credited and how that work is noted during the end credits of a film For example, per a behind-the-scenes fact about Fargo, Joel Coen was the only director allowed to be credited, as brother Ethan couldn't be because of a DGA rule made in 1978. That rule has since been revoked, and the directing duo has shared directing credit since 2004’s The Ladykillers. I'd really love it if Gerwig were to receive her wish to credit her collaborators in the way she hoped.

Greta Gerwig may have lost the fight for the adorable end-credit scene she wanted, but she did win other creative battles. For instance, she asked that Warner Bros. keep Barbie's memorable bench scene to show the beauty of aging. Gerwig’s creative prowess helped make Barbie the box-office success it became. So, with that in mind, I thought she was referring to her toes when she brought up "rawdogging on a flight" during an interview with Capital FM. However, it actually has a double meaning, as you can learn via this hilarious conversation she had with Jacob Elordi:

There you have it. “Rawdogging on a flight” is doing absolutely nothing but staring into space on a flight. I could never do that for hours if I’m wide awake. However, I do think it could mean something else, too. Like Robbie’s Wuthering Heights costar Jacob Elordi said, I thought the I, Tonya actress was talking about having her “digits” out during the flight when she brought this up.

Amid the misunderstanding, everyone involved in Capital FM’s interview laughed at Margot Robbie’s trending phrase. However, she claimed that she can’t take credit for the hilarious vocabulary:

It’s okay, Margot Robbie, we believe you. In fact, Seinfeld’s Patrick Warburton said in an Instagram reel back in March 2025 that he felt like the man responsible for the trending phrase. Sounds about right! Throughout the movie, Cathy and Heathcliff have a tumultuous romance stained by obsession and lust. While they both loved the other since they met as kids, a fit of miscommunication led Heathcliff to run away for years and Cathy to marry Edgar Linton, whilst also feeling deserted by her childhood “pet”. As Robbie shared with us, she thinks Cathy would have been a bit bitter toward Heathcliff until the end, claiming she hates him, which she thinks directly translates to “I love you.”

David Rooney of THR warns this “is not your Penguin Classics school curriculum edition” of Wuthering Heights but rather an “unabashedly horny adaptation.” The above critic may have been left wanting in terms of “pervy,” but Rooney thinks there’s definitely enough to earn that R-rating. The critic says:

Mick LaSalle of the San Francisco Chronicle says in Emerald Fennell’s attempt to sex up Wuthering Heights, she makes so many bad decisions that it becomes unclear why she made an adaptation of this novel rather than any other generic romance. Add in the matching signet rings engraved with an Emily Brontë quote, “Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same,” and you’ve got all the ingredients for internet speculation.

For those of you who’ve read this far and haven’t ever seen The Wolf of Wall Street, first off, rectify that as soon as you can by streaming it with your Paramount+ subscription. That uncertainty surged again last week when a report claimed the next installment could center on Jack Sparrow’s son, with Margot Robbie co-leading the adventure, a notable twist, considering Robbie’s version of the franchise had seemed to quietly sink a few years ago.

Now, fresh rumors are making waves again, and producer Jerry Bruckheimer is offering just enough to keep speculation alive. Whether that means she’s starring, producing, or simply part of ongoing creative talks remains unclear. As Bruckheimer’s previous comments have shown, the word “involved” can cover a wide range of possibilities.

There’s also the lingering Johnny Depp question. Bruckheimer has been open about his interest in bringing Depp back, but no official negotiations have been announced. A recent report noted that incoming Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro may feel pressure to make an early splash on the entertainment side of the business, and reviving Pirates of the Caribbean in a meaningful way would certainly qualify. While no deal is in place, if Disney wants to signal stability and box-office confidence under new leadership, bringing Captain Jack Sparrow back into the fold would be a very headline-grabbing way to do it.

This attention to detail has been incredible from Mukamal. While that red gown we discussed will almost certainly be the look that gets the most attention, I’d also love to draw attention back to the entirety of the Wuthering Heights press tour, where Mukamel has had Robbie in feathers by Victoria Beckam, and bespoke jewelry designed by Cece’s Jewelry, a favorite of Taylor Swift’s. In reality, it’s probably only been a few months, and also I only just found out the movie’s plot isn’t what I thought it was. However, as the flick ramps up to hit the 2026 release schedule next month, we are starting to get actual press looks. I’m pleased to report Margot Robbie is back on the method dressing bent.

Much has already been written about the fashion in Wuthering Heights. CinemaBlend actually was able to speak to the costume designer earlier this year, who told us 45-50 different looks were created just for Cathy, Margot Robbie’s character. In other interviews, Margot Robbie has admitted her character only wears three colors: Black, white and red. And it looks as if that will be holding true for the actress during promo as well.

In a post from her stylist Andrew Mukamal – who also worked with her to create the Barbicore trend in exhausting detail – Margot Robbie is seen wearing black and white looks for the new film. They come from Victoria Beckham’s line, and she also reshared the post, giving it her stamp of approval. Take a look:

There was a dress code that Margot Robbie describes as “Victorian slutty” (“I was dressed in white corsets and lace, and they're all dressed like Mob Wives in black lace and corsets”), and there was plenty of alcohol adding fuel to the fire. It sounds like it was a fun celebration of Margot Robbie’s latest work, but don’t fear that Jacob Elordi’s Heathcliff didn’t get enough attention:

Emerald Fennell’s follow-up to Promising Young Woman and Saltburn, Wuthering Heights also stars Alison Oliver, Hong Chau, Martin Clunes and Shazad Latif, and after getting some super early buzz from reported test screenings last summer, the film will be arriving in theaters just in time for Valentine’s Day on February 13.

If you have clicked through and are reading this article right now, I assume you are in one of two camps. Perhaps you’ve actually read Wuthering Heights and think I’m a complete idiot for making it decades without reading or understanding the plot of Emily Bronttë’s seminal work. Or, perhaps you are a person who, like me, has not yet read the book ahead of its upcoming big screen adaptation, and weren’t so sure about the tone of Emerald Fennell’s 2026 movie release.

If you are in the latter camp, I must warn you the movie is not an epic romance. Yes, I’m as shocked as you (maybe) are. I honestly only know this because I went to an all-hands meeting with the CinemaBlend team the other day and enthusiastically spoke about Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie doing a romance together. It was awkward crickets in the room for a hot minute before my colleague finally told me I needed to reset my expectations about what’s coming in Wuthering Heights. Embarrassing? Positively. Was I grateful for the heads up? Only time will tell.

To my credit, Valentine’s Day is usually a big weekend at the box office for some sort of romantic flick. This slot can lend itself to some darker romances like Fifty Shades of Grey, but a lot of February releases tend to be lighthearted, like How to Lose A Guy In 10 Days or Hitch. So, sorry I didn’t totally get the memo here with Wuthering Heights.

I honestly probably should have seen this turn of events coming. I did see Saltburn, and it was one of the wildest movies tonally I’d ever gotten through. Given Fennell’s track record with that movie and Promising Young Woman, I suppose I should have expected some complications outside of Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi staring adoringly into one another’s eyes.

Listen: I know I’ve outed myself as ridiculously uninformed, here, but to defend myself once more: It’s not as if I thought this would be a rom-com in the vein of Emma. You can tell from the Wuthering Heights trailer there will absolutely be some drama. I know, for example, there are some familial complications, and that Heathcliff must leave to seek a fortune. From what I’ve seen, Margot Robbie’s character seems to be left with few choices in the marriage department. I guess I just assumed this would all wrap up with a neat little bow, or at least some Titanic-level romantic ending.

That’s not true in the least, apparently, and we’ve either gotten some genius level marketing that will surprise audiences (I blame the use of Charli XCX’s pop track “Chains of Love”), or else I’m like the last person to know what Brontë’s novel is about. I honestly don’t want to spoil anyone or even look into how Wuthering Heights wraps, so I’m planning to go into the movie unspoiled, then read the book, now. Still, I do think it’s worth a warning that this will not be the feel good hit of 2026. Emerald Fennell clearly prefers her storytelling to be a little bit messed up, and that will continue with the release of Wuthering Heights next month. Though the casting director did even say "English lit fans" won't be happy. So, who really knows what's coming down the pipeline?

Just don’t say I didn’t warn ya.

As of late, Sydney Sweeney has been appearing in numerous TV, film, and commercial campaigns. She now has plenty of projects on the way, from 2026 movie schedule releases to the long-awaited final season of Euphoria. All the while, it would seem that AI is even imagining roles for the actress as well. Sweeney’s likeness was recently used to create a Harley Quinn image, and this should satisfy anyone who's ever wondered what she'd like like in the role compared to Margot Robbie.

Sweeney has been the basis of several pieces of fan art as of late, particularly some linked to the DCU Universe. One shot pictured her as the DCU’s Power Girl, while another transformed her into Black Canary. More recently, Love Live the Bat took to Facebook to show what the Anyone but You actress would look like as the Joker's main squeeze, and my mind is blown:

Okay, whoa! This is another prime example of AI shocking me with its eerie accuracy. Based on this, someone might've thought Sweeney was doing a fun photoshoot of herself wearing the iconic red-and-black, jester-like costume. Add in that hair and makeup, and she looks flawless as the DCU antihero. Seriously, a part of me feels like some fans could mistake this for a real casting announcement.

I can absolutely see the Immaculate actress as Harley Quinn, even if the character was added to Matt Reeves’ Batman universe. Given Sweeney's skills as an actor, I can picture her bringing charisma and sensuality to the beloved DC character. The notion of her going toe to toe with the Dark Knight is just too exciting to me Of course, if Sweeney landed the role, it wouldn't be her first venture into the superhero genre.

Sydney Sweeney joined Madame Web, in which she played Julia Cornwall/Spider-Woman. Unfortunately, in that movie, Sweeney's character -- still a young teen -- doesn't don her superhero alter ego in the present day. However, brief, but interesting, flash-forward scenes do show Julia suited up and doing some wicked web-slinging.

Ultimately, the Spider-Man spinoff movie bombed at the box office and received poor reviews. With that, the chances of us seeing Sweeney reprise the role feel slim. While Sweeney deserves another chance to play Spider-Woman, I’d love to see her play a more psychologically-driven DC role to show off her range and emotional vulnerability.

Even though Margot Robbie does an outstanding job as Harley Quinn, this realistic DC fan art convinces me that Sydney Sweeney would be perfect for the part if DC Studios were looking to recast. Robbie's future as Harley remains to be seen at the moment, so fans have plenty of room to speculate about what's to come and whether Sweeney or another star could take on the part. In the meantime, feel free to see Robbie's portrayal of Harley Quinn in her three DCEU flicks, which are streaming with an HBO Max subscription.

However, before the Barbie star was cast, it had been reported that Quentin Tarantino was also considering Jennifer Lawrence for the role. Although she claimed that she didn’t land it because people thought she was “not pretty enough” for it. Now, some old details have resurfaced that add some context to this story.

Well, some old quotes have emerged from around this time, and it turns out that Debra Tate did make a comment like the one the Oscar winner was referring to.

Back in 2017, before casting was confirmed for what would become one of Tarantino’s best movies, Sharon Tate’s sister, Debra Tate, was asked about both Robbie and Lawrence being considered for the gig. TMZ specifically asked which of the two was her “favorite.” In response, Debra Tate said:

Debra Tate went on to say that “physical beauty wouldn’t be so important” if her sister’s “public life” wasn’t defined by her looks.

While it’s not confirmed if this is why Lawrence didn’t get the part. It is true that Sharon Tate’s sister made a comment about her not being pretty enough for it.

According to Margot Robbie, when she was in talks for the character, she wrote to Tarantino about how much she wanted to work with him. And as casting for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood got underway, it was widely reported that she was in talks with the director.

Fennell is set to take a lot of liberties with the source material, and the fashion. As you might have noticed already, the movie is getting creative with Catherine’s wardrobe, but I wasn’t expecting to learn the undertaking was Barbie level.

The Wild Amount Of Costumes Made For Margot Robbie For Wuthering Heights

Jacqueline Durran is Wuthering Heights’ costume designer, who not only did Barbie but also brought her talents to other iconically-stylish movies like The Batman, Atonement, the live-action Beauty and the Beast and Little Women. When speaking to Vogue all about the costuming of Wuthering Heights, she revealed how many costumes she made for Margot Robbie alone:

That’s an awfully lot of costumes for one character to have! I looked back at the recent trailer after reading this and counted like 13 looks for Robbie’s character alone so, now I can totally see it. However, I wouldn’t necessarily expect an adaptation of this classic novel to be so heavy on the costume design. Clearly, Fennell wanted to make the movie’s fashion a huge touchpoint, and the references to real-life fashion varied.

Despite the movie itself taking place sometime in the 1800s, the production’s costume department made a concerted effort to pull from all sorts of inspirations. This includes women like Scarlett O’Hara in 1939’s Gone With The Wind movie or famous Neo-Rococo painting A Swiss Girl from Interlaken from Franz Xaver Winterhalter, and even references from current fashion magazines. Given what I know about the movie’s unique approach celebrity fashion, I'm definitely intrigued.

How Does This Large Number Of Costumes Compare To Barbie's?

What’s rather wild about the reveal of how many Wuthering Heights costumes there are is how it measures up to Barbie. Per the movie’s hair and makeup designer Ivana Primorac, here’s the amount of costumes Margot Robbie had:

Of course, it would make sense for Barbie of all character to have a ton of costume changes. Still, what’s crazy is how Wuthering Heights might even have more costumes than that Greta Gerwig-helmed flick! (We just don’t know how many of the costumes factors into the overlaps and reused). Someone is going to have to ask Durran at some point, because it would be interesting to know for sure if Robbie’s Cathy or Barbie have more costumes appear on screen.

Following the filming of her and Gerwig's 2023 fantasy film, Margot Robbie’s stylist also put together a lot of incredible Barbie-inspired pieces for the press tour. So, of course, I’m curious as to how much method dressing Robbie will be doing this time around.

Robbie herself later confirmed the story, and it’s the type of tale that will certainly have you in your feels this holiday season. What she said?

Lots of athletes have paid off houses or even bought houses for their parents. WNBA star Angel Reese notably paid off her mom’s mortgage earlier this year. Last year, NFL rookie Malik Nabers bought his mom a house. So, it’s not uncommon for people coming into large sums of money – like sports stars and actors – to give their parents a leg up.

Though it may be a bit of a trope, it’s still a deeply kind and thoughtful thing to do. That's even more true once you know Robbie earned far less than the millions sports hires often earn for her role in Wolf, though it's worth noting years later she would pull in more than $50 million for Barbie. When asked about it in an interview with CBS, however, Robbie sort of shook off the notion that she did anything super special. Her modest take?

At a time when A.I. is making it harder than ever for everyday people to tell the difference between real news and videos and total fiction, there's even more pressure on famous faces to maintain control of their public personas. Which, in Robbie's case, means putting less of herself out there.

The story specifically noted the fact that Catherine is brunette in Emily Brontë’s book, not blonde, and reacting to the “kerfuffle” around her casting, the Barbie actress said:

When the first trailer for Wuthering Heights came out, backlash followed immediately. Fans were quick to point out some major differences, too. For example, in the book, Catherine is 19 years old; meanwhile, Robbie is 35 – that’s a pretty major age jump. However, in the interview, the director did clarify that the character will be older in the movie than she is in the novel.

There were also negative reactions over Jacob Elordi’s casting as Heathcliff. In the novel, while his race isn’t specified, Heathcliff is described as having dark skin, and that fact is important to the story. So, casting the Euphoria star in the role is not faithful, and readers made that obvious in their posts about the movie. However, Margot Robbie says that her co-star is this character, explaining:

A while ago, Emerald Fennell also defended Elordi’s casting, saying that he “looked exactly like the illustration of Heathcliff on the first book that I read.” Wuthering Heights' casting director, Kharmel Cochrane, stood up for the pick too, saying that this is “just a book” and it’s “not based on real life.” She also urged people to make up their minds after they’ve seen the movie.

All around, the folks who made this film want viewers to watch it first before passing judgment. However, it’s also clear that they’re aware of the criticisms that have been made.

In true Emerald Fennell fashion, the trailers make it look like a highly stylized and sexually suggestive movie. And overall, fans have not held back their thoughts about how this project could be a departure from its source material. So, it will be interesting to see how this discourse continues as we get closer to Wuthering Heights' February 13 release.
