Spoilers below for the latest episode of Tulsa King, so be wanted if you haven’t yet streamed it via Paramount+ subscription!

With the seventh episode of Season 3, Tulsa King continued widening the tense rift between Dwight Manfredi and Robert Patrick’s Jeremiah Dunmire, while also showcasing the damaged father-son relationship between ol’ Jeremiah and his annoying egotistical son Cole (Bean Knapp). Not to mention laying out how Dwight & Co. managed to lure the Attorney General onto their side. But it’s what wasn’t shown at all that was most noticeable to yours truly.

At this point in Tulsa King’s run, we’ve obviously seen more than enough of Sylvester Stallone’s Dwight pulling cons on gangsters both minor and major, and while that’s still fun enough to keep this as one of Paramount+'s best shows, I’ve found myself drawn quite heavily to Bodhi’s evolving story in this third season, perhaps more than any other plotlines. And yet Martin Starr’s character was completely absent, despite all the other main characters being present.

Bodhi's PTSD-Laden Storyline Stands Out And Deserves More Attention

Given that so much of Tulsa King's on-screen story is devoted to ball-busting machismo, gangster violence, and Tyson's attempt to rise up the ranks as Dwight's right hand, I always enjoy when the show takes a step back from the dark vibes and puts the spotlight on Bodhi and Grace, who have both maintained their small-fish status while part of Dwight's crew. In the past, it's been largely for comedic purposes, and while that's still largely the same, Bodhi's also dealing with shit this season.

The Season 2 drive-by shooting in front of the dispensary that left Glen Gould's Jimmy The Creek dead still haunts Bodhi, considering Jimmy had become his best friend behind the scenes of Dwight's operation. To have his BFF ripped away like that in such a violent manner had a huge impact on Bodhi's mental state, especially since he held Jimmy in his arms until he fully passed on. It's the kind of experience that would make anybody leave their current job, but that's not currently a luxury he's been granted.

Bodhi took it upon himself to stand up to Cowboy Art, the dude responsible for killing Jimmy, earlier in the season, using a gun to smash the gangster in the face while also threatening the dude's life. Rather than solely relying on aggression to make his point, Bodhi explained why Art's actions fucked him up on such a deep level, and the two men came to an uncomfortable-but-survivable compromise in the end, with Bodhi understanding that adding more violence to the situation wouldn't produce any miracle solutions.

Even when Starr's characer appears to be having a good time, as it went in Episode 6 during his road trip with Grace, the more fractured side of his persona resurfaces immediately, in this case whenever he got that phone call from Art asking about Bevilaqua. The villainous party was looking for help in locating his boss, which must have felt very strange for Bodhi.

Yet in Episode 7, we don't get any real updates about him, despite Grace being around to help out with the casino craps game shenanigans that put the Attorney General into Dwight's back pocket. Maybe Bodhi just ate too many edibles and is sleeping for a few days.

What Martin Starr Told Me About Bodhi's Season 3 Storyline

When I talked to Tulsa King's cast to promote Season 3 on Paramount+, I asked Martin Starr about Bodhi's getting arguably deeper character development than what might have been expected. And he told me it's all part of an ongoing plan for the character that was set up back in the earliest days. In his words:

For so long, Bodhi has been the outlier pacifist who has mostly avoided getting his hands too dirty while running the legal weed shop side of things, but has obviously found himself in more troublesome waters. As it turns out, Sylvester Stallone himself is one of the creatives who has pushed hardest for Martin Starr's character to get a bigger and richer storyline. According to the actor:

I cannot wait for the day, perhaps in Season 8 or 9, when a van pulls up, its side door open, and out steps Bodhi in full Punisher garb, with a semi-auto locked and loaded in each hand. It's hard to imagine such a fate coming for a character who's largely avoided the senseless violence, but spend enough time around ducks, and you're liable to start quacking.

As such, I believe that this show will indeed give Bodhi a big make-or-break moment before Season 3 wraps that will put him on the path to no return, where he'll do something that will further tarnish whatever remaining innocence he has left.

Judd Apatow is an accomplished multihyphenate with plenty of iconic TV and movie projects on his long resume. Many of them remain quotable to this day, despite how many years might have passed since their initial release. Case in point: Apatow revealed the Knocked Up baby is 17 now… and I’ve never felt older. 

Knocked Up hit theaters in 2007, and was a critical and box office hit. Knocked Up’s cast was lead by Katherine Heigl and Seth Rogen, with Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann playing supporting characters who would get their own spinoff with This Is 40. The movie ended with protagonist Alison giving birth, and Apatow breaking the internet and blowing minds by revealing on Instagram that said baby is now a whopping 17 years sold. Check it out:

Suddenly I’m suffering from back pain and have the urge to tell children to get off my lawn. And I don’t even have a lawn. It’s crazy how time flies, as made evident by the fact that the Knocked Up baby is nearly old enough to vote. Does anyone else feel the need to re-watch that classic comedy?

Judd Apatow shared this Knocked Up throwback to his nearly 1 million followers on Instagram. And the comments section is filled with both fans and celebrities facing the shock of this revelation. That includes some of the movie’s cast including none other than Seth Rogen himself (who previously reminisced about one scene that was “messed up” for the cast). Rogen’s comment was short and sweet, reading:

Same, though. Knowing just how much time has passed, I really am curious about how Alison and Ben’s lives ultimately played out after the events of Knocked Out. Were they able to get their happy ever after as a couple, or did they decide to consciously uncouple and coparent together? Maybe answers will come with This Is 50, which is a project Judd Apatow has had in development and would mark the third installment of the franchise. 

Rogen wasn’t the only Knocked Up cast member who seemed shook by seeing jut how much time has passed. Actor Martin Starr, whose collaboration with Apatow dates back to being in the cast Freaks and Geeks, also commented a similar sentiment, saying:

Well at least we all feel the same. I have to wonder if Katherine Heigl will end up getting in on the fun; the Grey’s Anatomy alum had a had a storied history with Knocked Up. Heigl famously offered criticism about the female characters of the movie, starting a beef between her and Seth Rogen. 

We’ll have to see if the Knocked Up threequel This Is 50 ever makes it to theaters. In the meantime, check out the 2023 movie release dates to plan your next movie experience.

Arguably the biggest and most influential role-playing property of all time, Dungeons & Dragons has inspired all manner of spinoffs, adaptations, homages, parodies and then some. Paramount is hoping to roll its way into box office success with the impending action-adventure Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, with fan-favorite stars like Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, and Regé-Jean Page as leads. But before the new flick could even hit theaters, co-writer and co-director John Francis Daley brilliantly cemented it as one of 2023’s most important releases, at least for fans of the canceled-way-too-soon cult classic TV dramedy Freaks and Geeks.

Daley starred as one of the titular geeks, Sam Weir, in the highly beloved high school comedy, which aired 12 of its 18 episodes before NBC canceled it and unwittingly kicked off huge careers for the majority of its young cast. For much of the past 23 years, creator Paul Feig, executive producer Judd Apatow, and the bulk of the cast have been asked about reunions and revivals, without much to show for those talks outside of the stellar 2004 DVD box set and PaleyFest panel in 2011. But now, with an unexpected heap of gratitude going towards Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, we now have an actual scripted “reunion” scene from Daley and former co-stars Samm Levine and Martin Starr. Check out the Twitter-shared video below and savor the bejesus out of it!

From the first second, the video above pays homage to the original series and its own use of Dungeons & Dragons, from the music (which presumably didn't involve years of haggling over rights to use) to the dining room set to the immediate reference to "Carlos the Dwarf." As astute viewers will remember, Carlos is what James Franco's cool kid Daniel Desario named his character in the show's finale (fittingly named "Discos and Dragons") when joining the more studious characters for a campaign sesh. As much as fans definitely wanted Daniel to hang out with the nerdy peeps more often in a potential second season, it probably makes sense that he wasn't part of this mini-reunion. The holy trinity of Sam, Neil and Bill should never be broken or molded anew.

Technically speaking, the reunion scene doesn't actually feel like it came out of a Freaks and Geeks episode directly, since it's overtly self-aware and referential in that respect. But that doesn't feel like a mark against in my eyes, since I'll watch these characters do anything, whether it's logical or not. Is my year that much better after seeing Samm Levine and Martin Starr acting confused about where their beards came from? Obviously. And yours should be, too.

Let's give these guys credit for pulling off what could have been a completely cornball and unamusing gag, by way of pointing out how ridiculous an idea it is for Dungeons & Dragons to ever get adapted into a movie. It helps that it really is a ridiculous idea, considering how deep and unwieldy the RPG universe's lore can be, while also being a medium that visually exists largely in players' imaginations and via rulebook covers.

But not only does the feature exist, but the Geeks vet is majorly responsible for its existence in its current form. Daley and filmmaking partner Jonathan Goldstein joined the project in 2019 as directors after vacating their post on The Flash, and it wasn't long before they'd completed their own draft of the screenplay to work from, with prior scribes Chris McKay and Michael Gilio getting story credits. Much like their other projects, from Horrible Bosses to Spider-Man: Homecoming to Vacation Friends, Honor Among Thieves will bring a hefty smattering of comedy to any and all hectic situations and action sequences, which is likely what Sam, Neil and Bill would have wanted from a D&D movie.

Party Down is back! Fourteen years after the show’s premiere, it's returned for a long-awaited Season 3 on Starz, much to the delight of fans. Thankfully, almost all of the original cast has returned, which includes Martin Starr as Roman DeBeers. While he may be a hilarious and beloved character, Roman kind of sucks as a human, and Starr has now weighed in on whether or not his character of 14 years is still a jerk.

Over the course of Party Down's first two seasons, pretentious “hard sci-fi” enthusiast Roman did morally questionable things, like impersonating a rockstar to get laid, sabotaging his former writing partner out of jealousy, and constantly belittling the free-spirited actor Kyle, who is essentially a good dude and Roman’s antithesis. When I brought this point up to Martin Starr and Kyle himself, Ryan Hansen, they said the following about where their characters stand a decade after we last saw them:

"Martin Starr: I feel like in the first two seasons, there were little glimmers of hope that Roman might be a decent person, but all that's been shattered. We come back to a proper, jaded human being who has not left the shitty circumstances that he is in, that he was in 13 years ago.
Ryan Hansen: And Kyle, yeah, I feel like you’re right, he was a pretty good dude. Pretty dim, a little into himself.
Martin Starr: Yeah, I mean, some flashlights have a lot of battery and some have just a little bit of battery left."

Wonderful. In classic Roman fashion, Martin Starr answered the question by belittling Kyle’s intelligence. In all fairness, Ryan Hansen does seem to agree that Kyle isn’t the brightest of bulbs, even though he is a generally decent guy. Given the fact that Roman has been trying to make it as a screenwriter in Los Angeles for the past 14 years but still works at the titular catering company, Starr seems to think he’s more bitter than ever. He also confirmed that Roman is, in fact, a bad person, which I suppose is something all of us fans just have to accept. 

The charm of Party Down has always been that they managed to gather such an impressive cast of comedic talent. Starr and Hansen are joined by big names in comedy like Ken Marino, Jane Lynch, Adam Scott and Megan Mullally, who have all been up to plenty since the decade-long Party Down hiatus. There’s also some new talent you’ve probably seen before working for Party Down Catering, but unfortunately, they couldn’t be joined by one of the show’s main stars, Lizzy Caplan. Still, they wish her well and hope she comes back for a potential Season 4.

Roman may not be the best guy in the world, but he and the rest of the Party Down crew are still hilarious, which you can see for yourself by watching Party Down Season 3 on Starz! Thankfully you can stream it from anywhere, and there’s plenty more television coming our way in 2023. 

Party Down wasn’t the most popular show in the world when it initially debuted on Starz. However, over the past 14 years since it premiered, it’s found a new audience streaming on platforms like Hulu and Amazon. This paved the way for the long-awaited Season 3, which thankfully sees the return of just about every original cast member, but not all of the stars have returned. Series staple Lizzy Caplan was unable to come back, but according to her co-stars, there’s no bad blood, and they’re even holding out hope that she could return for Season 4.

I recently caught up with Party Down vets Martin Starr who plays Roman, and Ryan Hansen, who plays Kyle. When the subject of Lizzy Caplan’s absence came up, they responded with the following:

"Martin Starr: I mean, there's only one person that didn't make it and that's, you know, my old third grade best friend, Lizzy Caplan.
Ryan Hansen: And we missed her a lot, and she obviously wanted to be a part of it so bad but she couldn't make it, and it was devastating. But we love her.
Martin Starr: Yeah. And hopefully, if we get to come back and do a fourth season, I have a feeling she will be able to make it so hopefully we'll figure it out next time. But yeah, the timing just didn't work out this go ‘round. But she's doing really great. She's got a little baby, she's living a great life, she's happy. She's got a wonderful, loving, caring, awesome husband, Tom.
Ryan Hansen: Yeah, we love Tom. Big fan of Tom."

Wow! As you can tell by the video above this article, the love among Party Down cast members is palpable. Starr wasn’t kidding, as he and Caplan  have been friends since they were in third grade. He and Ryan Hansen even seem to have a solid relationship with her husband and fellow actor Tom Riley. More importantly, Martin Starr alluded to the idea that she would be down to come back for a Season 4, implying that the rest of the cast and crew have already had conversations about it.

While Season 3 will see the return of big names in comedy, including Jane Lynch, Adam Scott, Ken Marino and Megan Mullally, there will also be plenty of new cast members you’ve probably seen before. It picks up 10 years after Season 2 and contains six episodes, and that’s just the beginning of what you can read about Season 3 of the comedy series.

Of course, there’s also plenty of other 2023 TV premieres to keep an eye on. 

After a break of more than a decade, Party Down is finally back with a new season full of new adventures for the struggling actors and career caterers on the cult classic Starz comedy series. The new season, which picks up with the beloved Party Down Catering Company employees (and their pink bow-ties) for a hilarious reunion, brings with it some new characters to share the screen with Adam Scott, Ken Marino, Jane Lynch, and the rest of the gang.

If you have watched the show’s return, or at least plan on doing so in the near future, you are probably wondering where you’ve seen the new additions to the Party Down Season 3 cast. Because it’s been so long since Party Down first aired, we’ve also included a little rundown of all those familiar faces who returned for the show’s third season.

Jennifer Garner (Evie)

Leading things off when it comes to Party Down newcomers is Jennifer Garner, who shows up in the show’s third season as Evie, a successful film producer who starts a new journey in life, one that includes dating Adam Scott’s Henry Pollard.

Garner, who was one of the first additions to the Party Down Season 3 cast reported on by Deadline in January 2022, is mostly known for roles in movies like 13 Going on 30, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, Dallas Buyers Club, and most recently The Adam Project. However, Garner has long appeared on the small screen as well, including memorable performances on shows like Alias, Camping, and Upload.  

James Marsden (Jack Botty)

Next up for the Party Down Season 3 new additions is James Marsden, who shows up on the Starz original comedy series as Jack Botty, a big-time actor at the center of a massive superhero franchise.

Marsden joining the cast is the latest in a line of TV appearances for the actor who has popped up on The Stand, Mrs. America, Dead to Me, and Westworld in recent years, all while keeping up his film career. Over the years, Marsden has done everything from lead the X-Men movies to help make Sonic the Hedgehog one of the best video game adaptations of all time. He’s also shown up in movies like The Notebook, Superman Returns, Straw Dogs, and most recently, in the Disenchanted cast. 

Tyrel Jackson Williams (Sackson)

The first of two new additions to Party Down Catering Company is Tyrel Jackson Williams, who takes on the role of struggling internet personality Sackson on the revival.

If you were a fan of Disney Channel original shows from the past decade, then there’s a good chance you’ll recognize Williams from his portrayal of Leo Dooley on the Disney XD comedy series, Lab Rats. Williams also appeared in the 2014 Disney XD original movie, Pants on Fire.

Over the years, he has also had small roles on shows like Everybody Hates Chris, Modern Family, Community, and Batman: The Brave and the Bold. His film roles to date include Failure to Launch, Thunder Force, and Hollywood Stargirl.

 Zoë Chao (Lucy) 

Also joining the Season 3 cast is Zoë Chao, who joins the catering team as aspiring celebrity chef, Lucy, who has to settle for the party circuit and a pink bow-tie for the time being.

This is the latest in a long line of TV shows for Chao, who continues to be one of the hardest working actresses around today. In the past half-decade, Chao has popped up on shows like Strangers, The OA, Living with Yourself, Love Life, and Modern Love. That also includes The Afterparty, the 2022 Apple TV+ original murder mystery comedy that will once again feature Chao when the show returns, according to Deadline.

Chao is also no stranger to the silver screen, as she has appeared in movies like Where’d You Go, Bernadette, Downhill, The High Note, Senior Year, and most recently, the 2023 Netflix original movie, Your Place or Mine. 

Quinta Brunson (Jaff) 

Last, but not least, when it comes to the cast newcomers is Primetime Emmy and Golden Globe-winning actress and writer Quinta Brunson, who has become a household name in recent years thanks to her work on Abbott Elementary. Brunson shows up in a guest role as Jaff, Kyle Bradway’s (Ryan Hansen) agent, according to Variety.

Prior to finding success with Abbott Elementary in 2021, Brunson appeared on shows like A Black Lady Sketch Show, Big Mouth, Lazor Wulf, Miracle Workers, and multiple others. Her film appearances include An American Pickle, As of Yet, and Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, in which she portrayed Oprah Winfrey. 

Party Down Returning Actors

Though Lizzy Caplan won’t be returning for Party Down Season 3, the rest of the major players from the show’s first two seasons will all be back. Here’s a quick refresher on who’s coming back and where you’ve seen them before.

Adam Scott (Henry Pollard)

As seen in the Party Down Season 3 trailer, Adam Scott will be returning as actor-turned-caterer Henry Pollard, who crosses paths with his old coworkers after more than a decade away.

Outside of saying “Are we having fun yet?” on the cult classic Starz comedy series, Scott is known for appearances on shows like Parks and Recreation, The Good Place, and most recently, Severance. 

Ken Marino (Ronald Wayne ‘Ron’ Donald)

Ken Marino also returns for the revival, once again playing Party Down Catering Company manager Ronald Wayne “Ron” Donald.

A comedy mainstay for more than 30 years, Marino has made a career out of playing over-the-top characters on The State, Childrens Hospital, and The Other Two, to name a few. His notable film work includes Wet Hot American Summer, Reno 911!: Miami, and Role Models. 

Jane Lynch (Constance Carmell)

Jane Lynch is another Party Down alum returning for the revival season, once again playing Constance Carmell.

Outside of her work on this comedy, Lynch is known for iconic performances on shows like Glee, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and Hollywood Game Night, all three of which have earned her a Primetime Emmy Award. 

Martin Starr (Roman DeBeers)

Martin Starr, who played the condescending screenwriter Roman DeBeers on the show’s first two seasons, is back once again for Season 3.

In the years since appearing in the Freaks and Geeks cast, Starr has continued to find success on the small screen (as well as in movies), especially as of late with great performances on Tulsa King and Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities. 

Megan Mullally (Lydia Dunfree)

Megan Mullally also shows up in the new season, once again playing the chronically optimistic Lydia Dunfree.

Mostly remembered for her award-winning portrayal of Karen Walker on Will & Grace, Mullally has also worked on shows like Childrens Hospital, Bob’s Burgers, and Parks and Recreation over the years, the last of which was alongside her husband, Nick Offerman. 

Ryan Hansen (Kyle Bradway)

And then there is Ryan Hansen, who is back once again as actor, model, and musician Kyle Bradway on Party Down.

Outside of slinging hors d'oeuvres on the Starz comedy series, Hansen has also appeared on 2 Broke Girls, Teachers, and A Million Little Things.

Taylor Sheridan has been doing some impressive work since giving up acting and turning his focus to writing, with Mayor of Kingstown and Yellowstone among his bragging rights in the relatively short time he’s spent on the creative side of things. With the overwhelming popularity of the Dutton family saga, viewers are pretty excited to see what he’ll come up with next. And with the cast he’s compiled for Tulsa King, it sure looks like Paramount+ subscribers are in for something special with this crime drama about a New York mafioso becoming a fish out of water in the middle of Oklahoma. 

Movie icon Sylvester Stallone is making a rare appearance on the small screen, and he’ll be surrounded by some faces that are pretty familiar with crime series like The Wire, The Sopranos, and more. Let’s take a look at the the Tulsa King cast and where you’ve seen the actors before, starting with Sly himself: 

Sylvester Stallone (Dwight ‘The General’ Manfredi)

Sylvester Stallone is taking the New York mafia scene to Tulsa, Oklahoma, as Dwight “The General” Manfredi. After serving a 25-year prison sentence, Manfredi’s underboss relocates him out of New York to Tulsa, where he starts to recruit his own crew with the goal of sparking a new criminal empire.

The actor is best known for playing Rocky Balboa in the Rocky franchise, which earned him a Best Actor Oscar nomination in 1977, and as John Rambo in First Blood and its sequels, as well as a number of other action movies, including the Amazon Prime Video superhero flick, Samaritan. With movies like those under his belt, it’s not surprising that Stallone has been a box office champ for the past six decades.

Max Casella (Armand Truisi)

Fans of the crime genre should recognize Max Casella as he takes the role of the ambitious criminal, Armand Truisi, one of the more ambitious members of the Invernizzi crime family. Casella is no stranger to crime TV, as he previously portrayed Benny Fazio on The Sopranos and Leo D'Alessio on Boardwalk Empire, but he got his start in the early 1980s in roles that included Vinnie Delpino in Doogie Howser M.D. 

He originated the role of Timon in the Broadway production of The Lion King and also played Marcellus Washburn in the revival of The Music Man. He’s appeared in movies including The Tinder Bar and Analyze This, and has had recurring roles in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Ray Donovan, to name a few. Fans of the Jak and Daxter video game franchise will likely recognize his voice from his portrayal of the wise-cracking character dating back to 2001.

Domenick Lombardozzi (Charles ‘Chickie’ Invernizzi)

The head of the Invernizzi crime family, Charles “Chickie” Invernizzi, is played by Domenick Lombardozzi, another actor with plenty of experience in the crime milieu. 

Like Max Casella, Lombardozzi was a major player in Boardwalk Empire as Ralph Capone, and is also well-known as Fat Tony Salerno in The Irishman. He was also a major fixture on The Wire cast, playing Thomas “Herc” Hauk throughout the show’s five-season run. Other notable roles include Nicky Zero in A Bronx Tale, Dom on Entourage, and Ray Zancanelli in Breakout Kings. He also had a guest spot in an episode of Yellowstone. 

Vincent Piazza (Vince Antonacci)

Rounding out a Boardwalk Empire trio is Vincent Piazza, who played Lucky Luciano in the HBO drama. In Tulsa King, he will play Chickie’s henchman Vince Antonacci. 

Piazza also appeared on a few episodes of The Sopranos and recurred as Tony on Rescue Me. More recently, he appeared in the Fox drama The Passage and the 2020 survival thriller Centigrade. 

Jay Will (Tyson)

Jay Will appears in the Tulsa King cast as quick-witted, eagle-eyed college graduate Tyson.

Will is a 2021 Julliard graduate whose 2022 roles included a guest appearance on the Paramount+ original series, Evil, and recurring as James on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. 

A.C. Peterson (Pete ‘The Rock’ Invernizzi)

A.C. Peterson will play another member of the Invernizzi family — Pete, aka “The Rock” Invernizzi, who is Chickie’s ailing father, per Deadline. Peterson has nearly 200 credits in a career that spans decades. He recently recurred as Zeta-Rho in The CW’s Superman & Lois. Andrea Savage (Stacy Beale)

Andrea Savage appears in the Tulsa King cast as Stacy Beale, who, like The General, has moved to Oklahoma from New York. She’s an ATF agent who worked in anti-terrorism before her post dealing with Oklahoma militia groups, as described by Deadline when her casting was first announced . 

Savage created and starred in truTV’s I’m Sorry, and is also known for her roles as Dr. Stacy on A Million Little Things, Laura Montez on Veep, and Helen Basch on Episodes, among others.

Martin Starr (Bodhi)

Martin Starr appears on Tulsa King as Bodhi, a character Deadline described as a “blissed-out proprietor of the Higher Plane Marijuana Dispensary” and ally of The General after moving to Oklahoma.

Starr started as a child actor on Freaks and Geeks and can now be found in films like the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man blockbusters and TV series including Silicon Valley and the upcoming Party Down revival. Starr recently appeared with Sylvester Stallone in the Amazon Prime Video movie, Samaritan. 

Garrett Hedlund (Mitch Keller)

Garrett Hedlund shows up on Tulsa King as Oklahoma native Mitch Keller, a former bull-rider who was forced to retire after he sustained injuries that led to an addiction, according to Variety. 

Hedlund is known for appearing in movies, including Friday Night Lights and Country Strong with Tim McGraw. He starred in Tron: Legacy and had main roles in HBO’s Mosaic, Prime Video’s Modern Love, and the podcast Strawberry Spring, adapted from a Stephen King short story. Hedlund also appeared in the Coen Brothers’ 2013 beatnik drama, Inside Llweyn Davis, one year after portraying Dean Moriarty in the book-to-film adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s On the Road, a staple of the Beat Generation’s literary output.

Dana Delany (Margaret) 

Emmy Award-winning actress Dana Delany plays Margaret, who Deadline described as “an affluent and influential equestrian and owner of a sprawling horse farm and animal preserve” when the casting was first announced. She is a formidable presence and a trustee of the Annie Oakley Society. 

Delany won two Emmys for her work on the ABC drama China Beach, and among her many TV roles, she is known for playing Katherine Mayfair on Desperate Housewives and voicing Lois Lane in Superman: The Animated Series. Her movie credits include Tombstone, Fly Away Home, and many more.

Annabella Sciorra (Joanne)

Rounding out Tulsa King’s cast is another veteran of The Sopranos — Annabella Sciorra, who plays The General’s younger sister Joanne, a Brooklyn resident. 

Sciorra received an Emmy nomination for her recurring role as Gloria Trillo on The Sopranos, and is known for her work in movies, including True Love, The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, The Cure, and various titles in the Law & Order franchise, to name a few. More recently she’s had recurring on shows including Blue Bloods, New Amsterdam, and Truth Be Told. 

With a cast like this, It’s easy to see why viewers have been looking forward to Tulsa King’s premiere. New episodes of the series come out each Sunday on Paramount+. This show features eight different horror stories written and directed by different people, and also features an entirely new cast in every episode. With that much talent, it might be hard to figure out exactly where you might have seen them before. “The Autopsy” is based on a short story by Michael Shea and directed by David Prior. 

F. Murray Abraham

F. Murray Abraham won the Academy Award for his role in the film, Amadeus, but has appeared in many other movies, including several Wes Anderson films, as well as Star Trek: Insurrection, Inside Llewyn Davis, and currently stars in the Apple TV+ series, Mythic Quest. 

Glynn Turman

Glynn Turman has appeared in several movies and series. Most recently, in 2020, he had a role in Netflix’s film, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, and had had roles in shows such as Fargo and The Wire. 

Luke Roberts

Last but not least for “The Autopsy” is Luke Roberts, who had a lead role in the show Ransom, as well as appearing in many episodes of Black Sails on Starz.

“The Outside” is based on a short story by Emily Carroll, a comic-book author, and is directed by Ana Lily Amirpour. 

Kate Micucci

Kate Micucci has done a lot of voice roles for shows like Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? as well as American Dad!, and more. She also appeared in the film Flora & Ulysses, as well as the TV series, Mom. 

Martin Starr

Charlyne Yi has been in the business for some time and appeared in many movies and TV shows. Some of her biggest roles were in shows such as House M.D., Love, Jane the Virgin, We Bare Bears, Steven Universe, and more. She also appeared in movies like Always Be My Maybe, The Mitchells vs the Machines, and others. Most recently, she was in the film Block Party Juneteenth.

Steve Agee has had roles in many TV shows, such as D-Sides, New Girl, Fortune Rookie, Drunk History, American Princess, Twelve Forever and more. He also appeared in The Suicide Squad as John Economos, a role he reprised in the popular series, Peacemaker. He also portrayed Issac in Superstore. 

Michael Therrialt

If you want to talk about someone who has been in television for some time, Michael Therrialt is the person to bring up, as he has appeared in several TV shows. This cast for every single episode is truly stacked to the brim and features so many talented actors that I can hardly believe it. With such a creative lineup and spooky stories, Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities is sure to be one of the streaming platform’s best releases so far this year.

Sylvester Stallone has done a lot throughout his career, including launching one of the most successful sports movies franchise of all time and becoming a box office champ for six-straight decades. And though he has appeared in a few superhero movies in recent years, Stallone hasn't led a comic book adaptation since the 1995 adaptation of Judge Dredd. That all changes with Samaritan, Julias Avery's Amazon original movie, which sees Stallone take on the role of a retired masked vigilante who reluctantly comes out of the shadows.

Sylvester Stallone (Joe)

Starting things off is Sylvester Stallone himself, who takes on the role of a former superhero who reluctantly gets back in the crime-fighting game after an encounter with a young boy in trouble in Samaritan. Though this is first time playing a traditional superhero since taking on the titular role in 1995's Judge Dredd, Stallone has made appearances in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and The Suicide Squad (as the voice of King Shark), both of which were directed by James Gunn. And there’s more on the way…

Throughout his career, which goes back more than 50 years, Stallone has become one of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood thanks to successful film franchises like Rocky and Rambo, as well as some undeniably badass roles in some of the best action movies of all time.

Javon ‘Wanna’ Walton (Sam Cleary)

Next up is Javon “Wanna” Walton, who appears on the Samaritan cast as Sam Cleary, the boy whose rescue by Joe leads to the former superhero coming out of the shadows for the first time in years following a tragic accident.

The up-and-coming Walton will instantly be recognized by fans of the popular HBO teen drama series Euphoria, on which he has played Ashtray O’Neil throughout the duration of the show. Since breaking out a few years ago, Walton has landed roles on shows likes The Umbrella Academy as well as the 2021 animated feature film The Addams Family 2, in which he replaced Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard as the voice of Pugsley Addams.

Pilous Asbæk (Cyrus)

Stepping in as the villainous Cyrus in Samaritan is Pilous Asbæk, who has established himself as one of the most dynamic and terrifying “bad guy” actors in show business these past few years.

Asbæk found a great deal of success in his native Denmark and smaller roles in various Hollywood productions throughout his career before landing the role of the despicable and treacherous Euron Greyjoy on the Game of Thrones cast in the HBO fantasy series’ final few seasons, quickly establishing himself as one of the show’s most evil villains. Since then, Asbæk has appeared in movies like Outside the Wire, Run Sweetheart Run, and Uncharted, briefly appearing in the film’s end credits sequence. He is also set to appear in the delayed Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom in an undisclosed role.

Dascha Polanco (Tiffany Cleary)

Taking on the role of Sam Cleary’s mother Tiffany in Samaritan is Dascha Polanco, who fans of a certain classic Netflix original series will instantly recognize.

Since making a name for herself as Dayanara “Daya” Diaz on Orange is the New Black, on which she appeared in all but 10 episodes, Polanco has gone on to appear in several of the most decorated series of the past half-decade. This includes major roles on The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, Russian Doll, and When They See Us, to name a few. During that same stretch of time, Polanco has landed roles in movies like The Cobbler, The Irishman, In the Heights, and most recently, DC League of Super-Pets, in which she voiced Green Lantern.

Moisés Arias (Reza)

Showing up on the Samaritan cast as Reza, one of the lackeys in Cyrus’ gang, is Moisés Arias, who has come a long way since his days of playing Rico on the Disney Channel original series Hannah Montana back in 2006.

In the years following his initial success in front of the camera, Arias has shown up on a variety of Disney programs including Wizards of Waverly Place, The Suite Life on Deck, and Phineas and Ferb, as well as other shows like The Middle and The Good Doctor. His film credits include everything from voice roles in the likes of Despicable Me 2, Astro Boy, and The Secret World of Arrietty to live-action films including Ender's Game, The King of Staten Island, The Stanford Prison Experiment, Pitch Perfect 3, and Blast Beat.

Martin Starr (Albert Casler)

Taking on the role of Albert Casler in Samaritan is Martin Starr, who is no stranger to appearing in superhero movies or projects about those some would consider outcasts from society.

In recent years, Martin Starr has become a great source of comedy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Roger Harrington, Peter Parker’s (Tom Holland) science teacher at Midtown School of Science and Technology who always seems to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Starr also played a younger version of the character in The Incredible Hulk. Starr, who got his break as Bill Haverchuck on the Freaks and Geeks cast back in 1999, has continued to find success on the small screen, with appearances on Party Down, Drunk History, and Silicon Valley, to name only a few.

Sophia Tatum (Sil)

And then there is Sophia Tatum, who takes on the role of Sil, another one of Cyrus’ lackeys in Samaritan.

Though she doesn’t have quite as many credits to her name as other members of the Samaritan cast, Tatum has been part of some major projects in recent years. This includes a brief appearance in the incredibly successful F9: The Fast Saga in summer 2021 and the most recent season of The CW’s Riverdale series, in which she portrayed Agent Jillian Drake.

It has been more than a decade since we last caught up with pink-bow tie-wearing actors-turned-caterers in the cult comedy Starz series Party Down. No one would hold anything against you if you were under the impression that the June 2010 Season 2 finale would have been the last we saw of Adam Scott, Ken Marino, and the rest of the Party Down cast together, but after a very long stretch of time, the wise-cracking sextet is back for a Party Down revival.

That’s right, soon we’ll be tuning in to Starz to watch Party Down Season 3 like it's 2009 all over again and as if the past few years never really happened. Below is a quick rundown of several quick things we know about the upcoming revival of the cult comedy series about struggling actors finding a new way to support themselves in Hollywood.

The Party Down Revival Premieres February 24th On Starz

Party Down originally debuted in March 2009, with its second (and final) season ending June of the following year, at which point it seemed like the series, which later became a cult classic, was done for good. Well, those who loved the show nearly a decade-and-a-half ago, or have fallen in love with it since then, will be able to pick up with the Party Down catering company when the revival premieres Friday, February 24th on Starz.

The Party Down Revival Cast Includes Adam Scott, Ken Marino, Jane Lynch And Martin Starr

When Party Down comes back, the revival will see the return of most of the show’s main stars from the first two seasons. Upon announcing the return, Starz revealed that Adam Scott (who is also one of the show’s executive producers) will be returning as Henry Pollard. Joining him will be Ken Marino as Party Down team lead Ronald Wayne “Ron” Donald, Jane Lynch as Constance Carmell, Martin Starr as Roman DeBeers, Ryan Hansen as Kyle Bradway, and Megan Mullally as Lydia Dunfree.

Although most of the original Party Down cast will be returning for the upcoming revival, one of the major stars won’t be joining them. In November 2021, Deadline reported that Lizzy Caplan, who played Casey Klein in the first two seasons, will not be around for the latest slate of episodes, but it’s not because of ill will or anything like that. According to the report, Caplan was already committed to the FX on Hulu limited series Fleishman Is in Trouble.

The Party Down cast had its share of guest stars during the show’s original run, and that trend looks to continue with the upcoming revivals. In January 2022, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Jennifer Garner, Tyrel Jackson Williams, Zoë Chao, and James Marsden would all appear throughout the latest season. There is no word if previous guest stars like J.K. Simmons, Ken Jeong, or Kevin Hart will be appearing at any point.

The Party Down Revival Picks Up Ten Years After The Events Of The Original Series

The Party Down Season 2 finale, which ended up being the final episode of the original show’s run, ended with a chaotic wedding and Henry Pollard making the decision to skip out on work and audition for another acting gig. When the revival series picks up in late February, it will see the former coworkers at the Party Down catering company crossing paths 10 years after we last saw them, according to Variety. 

In an exclusive first look of the Party Down revival, Entertainment Weekly revealed that the new season will pick up with the old familiar gang as they begin to pick up catering gigs for random parties and events throughout Los Angeles. Not much else has been revealed about the plot of the Party Down revival at this point, but with series co-creators Rob Thomas, John Enbom, Paul Rudd, and Dan Etheridge all coming back as executive producers, and John Ehbom once again serving as showrunner, it sounds like it will be more of the same fun and games. 

The Party Down Trailer Shows The Returning Cast Celebrating In Their Iconic Pink Bow Ties

In January 2023, Starz gave the world its first full look at the return of Party Down with the release of a trailer showing the various returning members of the cast getting back together for a reunion after 10 years apart.

In addition to showing returning stars like Ken Marino, Jane Lynch, and Adam Scott – who appears to be going through some kind of existential crisis – the trailer also introduces new members of the Party Down cast, including James Marsden’s character who mockingly yells “Are We Having Fun Yet?” much to the chagrin of Adam Scott’s Henry. 

Adam Scott Has Said The Party Down Revival Will Give The Show A Chance To ‘Finish The Story’

Even though Party Down had die-hard fans during its original run, the show was never a ratings smash-hit and failed to really capture the attention of the general population not familiar with its creators and actors’ previous works. During a February 2022 appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Adam Scott took time out of his promotion of the Apple TV+ original series Severance to talk about the Party Down revival, which he said was giving the show a chance to ‘finish the story,” stating:

Earlier in the chat, Scott told Colbert that only around 13,000 people watched the Party Down finale back in 2010, and that the show, which later became a cult classic, only became popular after the fact. The 2023 Golden Globe nominee also said the revival is a result of those people finding the show in the years since its cancellation.

Party Down Season 3 Will Consist Of Six 30-Minute Episodes

The first two seasons of Party Down consisted of 10 episodes apiece, but the new revival will be much shorter. In November 2021, Starz announced that Party Down Season 3 will be made up of six 30-minute episodes, nearly half the amount as the first two seasons. No details have been revealed as to what the members of Party Down will be getting themselves into during the limited series, but it is all but guaranteed to be more of the insane hijinks and situations similar to those featured in the first go-around.

The Party Down Revival Spawned From A 2019 Reunion Of The Cast And Crew

There has been a lot of support for a Party Down revival of some sort for years now, with star Ryan Hansen even saying he’d “chop off a toe” for a movie at one point. Despite a small yet diehard group of fans, cast, and crew wanting to see the show’s characters return in some shape or form, nothing ever panned out for Party Down for a decade before everyone got back together for a panel discussion at Vulture Festival LA in November 2019.

According to Deadline, the panel featured the full Party Down cast and the executive producers who made the show a reality in the first place. During the discussion, co-creator Dan Etheridge revealed that a reunion was in the works:

A little more than a year later, co-creator Rob Thomas said in a statement (via Vulture) that this 2019 Party Down retrospective was the catalyst for the revival before saying everyone had such a great time and wanted to find a way to get them back together again.

It’s been over a decade since we’ve seen the Party Down gang slinging d’oeuvres under the incapable leadership of Ron Donald (Ken Marino). When it was announced recently that the Starz underground hit would be rebooted, fans raised their beers to a collective cheer of “Are we having fun yet?” So as we plan to reunite with our favorite disgruntled waiters — and wonder what astonishing A-list guest stars might grace our screens in this reboot — let’s take a look at what the Party Down cast has been up to since the series last aired in 2010.

Ken Marino (Ron Donald)

Ken Marino, who played the most unlikely candidate for responsibility possible in Party Down’s Ron Donald, is seemingly the exact opposite off-screen, as Marino has stayed busy both in front of and behind the camera. He reprised his role as rival private investigator Vinnie Van Lowe in the long-awaited new season of Veronica Mars in 2019, and also had recurring roles on such shows as Fresh Off the Boat, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and most recently, the Showtime dark comedy Black Monday. He’s taken his turn behind the camera directing the web series Burning Love, a hilarious satire of the Bachelor franchise, and a handful of episodes of Adult Swim’s Children’s Hospital — acting in both shows as well.

Ken Marino has two movie director credits, with How to Be a Latin Lover and Dog Days, and if that’s not enough, he wrote Wanderlust, co-starring Jennifer Aniston, Paul Rudd and the bewitching Kathryn Hahn. Marino also had a hand in the screenplay for Role Models. In 2020, Marino reunited with the cast that started it all — MTV’s sketch comedy The State — to raise funds for the NAACP and the California Immigrant Resilience Fund, which helps undocumented California residents affected by the COVID pandemic. I mean, these credits are good, but how do they stand up next to running a Soup R’ Crackers?

Adam Scott (Henry Pollard)

Adam Scott’s Henry Pollard was a one-hit wonder on Party Down, finding 15 minutes of fame on a beer commercial with a memorable tagline before flaming out and quitting acting. Scott’s career as an actor has thankfully gone the other direction, and he’s stayed pretty busy since his fictional catering days. We liked him and we loved him as Ben Wyatt on Parks and Recreation, and he also had recurring television roles in hits such as The Good Place and Big Little Lies. Many of these actors run in the same circles (see Veronica Mars), and Scott reunited with Ken Marino for Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later and the web series Burning Love. On the big screen, he and Lizzy Caplan reignited their red-hot chemistry to again play lovers in Bachelorette. Other movie credits include The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Hot Tub Time Machine 2, Krampus and Sleeping with Other People.

Adam Scott has also found success in the world of podcasts. His initial project, U Talkin’ U2 to Me?, dissected his love for the iconic band U2. That led to R U Talkin’ R.E.M. RE: ME?, a similar show about REM, and in 2020 launched U Talkin’ Talking Heads 2 My Talking Heads. Next up he’s slated to star in the Ben Stiller-directed workplace thriller Severance on Apple TV+, which is currently filming and set to air sometime this year.

Lizzy Caplan (Casey Klein)

Lizzy Caplan was wonderful as sarcastic aspiring comedian Casey Klein, but much of her post-Party Down career has skewed away from comedy. Caplan picked up nominations for a Primetime Emmy, two Satellite Awards and a Critics’ Choice Award for her portrayal of Virginia Johnson in the Showtime series Masters of Sex. Most recently Caplan was in the Apple TV+ thriller series Truth Be Told with Octavia Spencer and played Annie Wilkes in the Season 2 of the Stephen King-inspired Castle Rock. Caplan’s next project stays in the horror realm, with Cobweb, starring opposite The Boys’ Antony Starr. The movie, which filmed in Bulgaria in late 2020, is in post-production.

It hasn’t been all horror and thriller for Lizzy Caplan, however, as the Mean Girls alum has also had recurring roles in New Girl, The League and Children’s Hospital. Movie credits include The Interview from James Franco and Seth Rogan, as well as the sci-fi thriller Extinction, (no word from Party Down’s Roman on if that counts as “hard sci-fi”).

Martin Starr (Roman DeBeers)

We fell in love with Martin Starr as a lovable nerd on Freaks and Geeks, and aspiring sci-fi author Roman DeBeers could certainly be an older version of Bill Haverchuck — albeit more cynical and beaten down by life. Hopefully Starr’s acting career is slightly less frustrating than trying to make it in the world of hard sci-fi. Starr co-starred as the fantastically named Bertram Gilfoyle on all six seasons of HBO’s five-time Emmy nominee Silicon Valley. Starr also had small roles in the CBS comedy series Life in Pieces and Hawaii Five-O and played multiple characters on Comedy Central’s Drunk History.

Martin Starr’s been no stranger to the big screen either, playing Daniel in Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead, and teaming up with his Apatow buddies in Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg's apocalyptic comedy This is the End. And speaking of old buddies, Starr had a couple of projects with Party Down guest star Kristen Bell, playing Stu Cobbler in Veronica Mars and Bell’s friend Todd in the uncomfortable drama The Lifeguard. Starr has also joined the MCU, playing Mr. Harrington, the teacher with the unenviable task of keeping tabs on teens like Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Far from Home and Spider-Man: Homecoming. Up next for Starr is a supporting role in the dark superhero film Samaritan, starring Sylvester Stallone and set for a June 4 release.

Ryan Hansen (Kyle Bradway)

As previously noted, the cast of Party Down is strongly connected to Veronica Mars, and none more than Ryan Hansen, who played the douchey Dick Casablancas on the smart mystery series. Hansen and Kristen Bell became best friends, and his resume boasts numerous projects with The Good Place star, including Burning Love and Hansen’s YouTube Red series Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television. Hansen had a hilariously awkward guest role as Bell’s lover on her Showtime series House of Lies. He also played a part in the movie Hit & Run with Bell, which Bell’s husband Dax Shepard wrote, directed and starred in.

That doesn’t begin to scratch the surface of his work either, but some of Ryan Hansen’s projects have failed to find critical acclaim. Hansen took a couple of swings on NBC comedies, playing the lover of Kate Walsh’s Rebecca Wright in the lone season of Bad Judge and starring as Ben Lewis on the short-lived comedy Friends with Benefits, but Hansen’s bread and butter seems to lie in guest roles and recurring spots. He’s made appearances on Key and Peele, Parenthood, The Mindy Project and Santa Clarita Diet. He had a recurring role as Andy in Season 2 of 2 Broke Girls, played Doug Weiner in the Hulu series Resident Advisors and played Brent in the TV Land series Teachers. Hansen had roles in three movies that came out in 2020: Friendsgiving, Fantasy Island and Like a Boss, all of which were panned by critics.

Megan Mullally (Lydia Dunfree)

Megan Mullally joined the Party Down crew in Season 2 as the well-meaning but desperately lonely Lydia Dunfree. While Lydia struggled as momager for thankless daughter Escapade, Mullally’s path couldn’t be further from her character’s, as she was a force to be reckoned with both before and after Party Down on pretty much any platform she chose in entertainment. Most recently, on top of reprising her role as Karen Walker on Will & Grace, the actor has lent her voice to a number of animated projects including Bob’s Burgers and The Great North. In 2015 her voice acting led to a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program for her work on Sofia the First: The Enchanted Feast.

Mullally was also a series regular on Children’s Hospital and had a memorable recurring role as the second ex-wife of Ron Swanson (played by real-life husband Nick Offerman) Tammy Two in Parks and Recreation. In 2014 she starred in Annapurna off-Broadway with Offerman and on Broadway in It’s Only a Play alongside Matthew Broderick, Stockard Channing, Nathan Lane and more. In 2021 she is slated to play Reno Sweeney in Anything Goes at the Barbican Theatre in London. And don’t forget to add “author” to the multi-hyphenate’s resume. In 2018 she and Offerman published The Greatest Love Story Ever Told about their “epic” romance.

Jane Lynch (Constance Carmell)

No personal business on company pond for this hard worker. Constance Carmell’s optimistic attitude always had her willing to go the extra mile to hone her craft. (Have you seen her cow? “Are you milking me for information, Old MacDonald? I’m not in the mooooood.”) And if that’s the effort Jane Lynch puts into her real-life acting career, it’s working. Unfortunately Lynch had to leave the catering company after Season 1 because of a contractual obligation to Glee for her brilliant role as Sue Sylvester, but that worked out in her favor, if not ours, as it led to five Primetime Emmy Awards from twelve nods, two SAG Awards from six nominations and one Golden Glove from two nominations.

Lynch has had recurring TV roles on numerous shows, such as Criminal Minds and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. She’s leant her voice to animated TV and movies alike in The Simpsons, Wreck-It Ralph, Ralph Breaks the Internet and UglyDolls. She’s hosted game shows, such as the reboot of Weakest Link and Hollywood Game Night. Lynch even has her own record label, KitschTone Records, on which she released a Christmas album with her cabaret group See Jane Sing.

Lynch has also tried her hand at theater, making her Broadway debut as Miss Hannigan in Annie in 2013. She’s also done a ton of charity work, most notably to support equal rights in the LBGTQ community. In 2013, Lynch was honored by The Trevor Project for her advocacy of marriage equality. In 2020 she co-hosted the live telethon Love in Action to help raise funds for the Los Angeles LGBT Center during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Party Down fans, myself included, are eager to see our favorite caterers don their pink bowties again and reveal if the last 10 years has brought them any of the same success as the actors who portray them (assuming not, if they are in fact still catering). Be sure to check back for more information on the reboot, and find something else to stream on Starz in the meantime.

It's hard to believe that it's been over 20 years since Freaks and Geeks aired its brief few episodes on NBC. Created by Paul Feig and executive produced by Judd Apatow, this coming-of-age teen dramedy is considered one of the finest programs to ever get canceled prematurely, but it has grown long legs since. Through its critical success and cult following, this short-lived show helped foster the careers of Seth Rogen, James Franco, Jason Segel, Linda Cardellini, Martin Starr, Busy Philipps, and John Francis Daley. Now that the show is available to stream in full on Hulu, let's take this moment to see how far these stars have come since these humble beginnings.

Here's what the Freaks and Geeks cast is doing now.

John Francis Daley (Sam Weir)

As Sam Weir, the quiet comedy enthusiast who finds his clique with the geeks, John Francis Daley was one of the leads of the show. Afterward, Daley became known for his work in Bones. His other notable acting credits include View from the Top, Waiting ..., The Geena Davis Show, Boston Public, Kitchen Confidential, Dude Bro Party Massacre III, and 5-22-77. Outside of acting, Daley developed a second career as a Hollywood screenwriter, notably penning Horrible Bosses, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, and Spider-Man: Homecoming. He also wrote and co-directed Vacation (2015), helmed Game Night, and produced Stuber.

Next, John Francis Daley serves as the writer behind Vacation Friends. He's also attached to write and direct a new Dungeons & Dragons movie. Away from acting, he sings and plays keyboards for the band, Dayplayer.

Linda Cardellini (Lindsay Weir)

In the role of Lindsay Weir, a gifted high schooler and Sam's older sister, Linda Cardellini played one half of the lead roles in Freaks and Geeks. Outside of this short-lived series, the actress is best known for her work in the live-action Scooby-Doo movies, as well as ER, Mad Men, Bloodline, Legally Blonde, Brokeback Mountain, A Simple Favor, Avengers: Age of Ultron, the Daddy's Home movies, The Curse of La Llorona, The Founder, Good Burger, Boy Meets World, and Green Book. She can also be heard in Regular Show, Gravity Falls, Scooby Doo! Mystery Incorporated, and Sanjay and Craig.

Currently, Linda Cardellini can be seen in Netflix's Dead to Me, where she also serves as a co-executive producer. She has been Emmy-nominated for this leading role. Most recently, the actress appeared in Capone and several episodes of Disney+'s Muppets Now.

Samm Levine (Neal Schweiber)

In the part of Neal Schweiber, a comedy-loving geek, Samm Leivne played a scene-stealing supporting character on the series. Levine is known for his work in Inglorious Basterds, the Wet Hot American Summer franchise, Not Another Teen Movie, Pulse, Club Dread, Sydney White, I Love You Beth Cooper, Jobs, NCIS, Crunch Time, Another Period, Selfie, Do No Harm, and Drunk History. Outside of acting, Levine served as a sidekick and fill-in host on Kevin Pollak's Chat Show. He also regularly appeared on Collider's Movie Trivia Schmoedown.

Most recently, Samm Levine was seen in No Good Nick, I'd Like To Be Alone Now, and the short film, Summoned. Next, he'll be seen in Adverse, Immortal, and Bonded. Additionally, Levine will be featured in Wags to Riches.

Seth Rogen (Ken Miller)

As Ken Miller, a wise-cracking, extremely sarcastic student at William McKinley High School, Seth Rogen started his career and later found his fame thanks to his early exposure here. His next acting credits include Knocked Up, Undeclared, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Funny People, Steve Jobs, Zack and Miri Make a Porno, 50/50, Neighbors, Long Shot, and The Disaster Artist, plus Superbad and Pineapple Express (both of which he also co-wrote).

Additionally, Seth Rogen lent his voice to the Kung Fu Panda movies, Monsters vs. Aliens, Paul, Shrek the Third, Horton Hears a Who, and The Lion King (2019). Also, he wrote, directed, and starred in This is the End and The Interview. The actor directed for Preacher, Future Man, and Black Sunday, and wrote for The League, The Simpsons, and Da Ali G Show, for which he was Emmy-nominated. Most recently, Rogen starred in An American Pickle. He was also seen in The Boys and heard in Big Mouth. His upcoming credits include Invincible, Pam & Tommy, and Santa Inc.

James Franco (Daniel Desario)

In the role of Daniel Desario, Nick's best friend who's in an unsteady relationship with Kim, James Franco first gained notoriety for his work in Freaks and Geeks. Franco's profile continued to rise thanks to the Spider-Man trilogy, Pineapple Express, Milk, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Spring Breakers, Oz the Great and Powerful, This is the End, The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, Sausage Party, and 127 Hours, the latter for which he was Oscar-nominated. He also won a Golden Globe for his leading role in The Disaster Artist, which he also directed. Additionally, on television, Franco starred in The Deuce and 11.22.63, and appeared on General Hospital, The Mindy Project, and Angie Tribeca. Outside of acting, Franco also authored Palo Alto and Actors Anonymous.

Most recently, James Franco starred in Zeroville, which he also directed. He was also heard in Arctic Dogs. Next, he'll be seen in Kill the Czar and The Long Home, which he also directed. But, after a series of allegations were made against him, Franco has kept a low profile.

Jason Segel (Nick Andopolis)

Playing the part of Nick Andopolis, one of the Freaks who's often protective of Lindsay, Jason Segel found his early breakout role in this show. Following his time in this series, Segel starred in CBS's long-running How I Met Your Mother. The actor also wrote and starred in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, 2011's The Muppets, The Five-Year Engagement, and Sex Tape. His other notable film credits include I Love You Man, Jeff Who Lives At Home, Bad Teacher, Knocked Up, This is 40, Can't Hardly Wait, This is the End, and The End of the Tour. Additionally, he worked with Judd Apatow on the similarly short-lived series, Undeclared.

Most recently, Jason Segel was seen in Our Friend. He also created, wrote, directed, and starred in AMC's anthology series, Dispatches from Elsewhere. Segel made an appearance in Quibi's Home Movie: The Princess Bride. Next, Segel will star in The Sky Is Everywhere. Outside of acting, Segel has co-authored several novels, including the Nightmares! series and the Last Reality series, with Kirsten Miller.

Martin Starr (Bill Haverchuck)

As Bill Haverchuck, one of the freshman geeks, Martin Starr had his first brush with fame through his supporting turn in Freaks and Geeks. Following his time in this series, Starr, well, starred in Starz's Party Down. He also played a lead role in HBO's Silicon Valley. His other notable credits include Knocked Up, Adventureland, The Incredible Hulk, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, Superbad, This is the End, NTSF: SD: SUV::, Burning Love, Life in Pieces, Veronica Mars, Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead, Honey Boy, and Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story.

Most recently, Martin Starr guest-starred in truTV's Tacoma FD. Next, he'll be seen in Samaritan, Spider-Man 3, and the short film, Milford.

Busy Philipps (Kim Kelly)

In the role of Kim Kelly, Lindsay Weir's best friend, Busy Philipps played a prominent supporting character in Freaks and Geeks. Outside of this show, Philipps is known for her work in Dawson's Creek, Cougar Town, ER, Love Inc., White Chicks, He's Just Not That Into You, The Gift (2015), The Smokers, Home Room, Made of Honor, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Vice Principals, and I Feel Pretty. Additionally, from 2018 through 2019, Philipps hosted E!'s late-night talk show, Busy Tonight.

Most recently, Busy Philipps appeared in an episode of Search Party. Next, Philipps stars in Peacock's Girls5Eva. Outside of acting, the actress released her memoir, This Will Only Hurt A Little, in 2018.

Becky Ann Baker (Jean Weir)

Playing the part of Jean Weir, Lindsay and Sam's mother, Becky Ann Baker played a pivotal maternal character in Freaks and Geeks. Away from this Fox series, Baker is best known for her Emmy-nominated performance in HBO's Girls. Her other notable credits include Blue Steel, Lorenzo's Oil, Men in Black, Jacob's Ladder, In & Out, Spider-Man 3, Nights in Rodanthe, The End of the Tour, Table 19, Hope Springs, A Simple Plan, Stay, The Good Wife, The Blacklist, Big Little Lies, Younger, and Brockmire.

Most recently, Becky Ann Baker was seen in The Half of It. She also made appearances in Social Distance, Little America, Manhunt, Council of Dads, Little Voice, and Katy Keene. Next, Baker will be seen in Holler, which premiered at TIFF, and Starbright. Additionally, outside of acting, Baker produced the short film, Pizza Party, last year.

Joe Flaherty (Harold Weir)

As Harold Weir, Jean's husband and Lindsay and Sam's father, Joe Flaherty played a paternal character in Freaks and Geeks. Most notably, away from this role, the actor-comedian is known for his work on SCTV and Happy Gilmore. He also appeared in 1941, Johnny Dangerously, Sesame Street Presents: Follow That Bird, Innerspace, Back to the Future Part II, Stuart Saves His Family, Detroit Rock City, That '70s Show, Who's Harry Crumb?, Slackers, National Security, Club Paradise, Heavy Metal, and Stripes.

Most recently, Joe Flaherty appeared in Call Me Fitz, and the short film, Nightlife. He also wrote an episode Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated. He doesn't have any upcoming credits at this time.

Through six seasons and 53 episodes, HBO's Silicon Valley, created by Mike Judge, John Altschuler, and Dave Krinsky, became one of the most acclaimed and celebrated comedy shows in Peak Television. Through its smart writing, a keen understanding of Silicon Valley's weird tech bubble, and witty performances from our talented ensemble, this foul-mouthed, confidently lewd, but unsuspectingly clever program became a launching pad for several of its leading stars, including Thomas Middleditch, Kumail Nanjiani, and Matt Ross. It also resulted in another win for the lauded cable service.

Now that Silicon Valley is done, what is the cast up to now? Let's take a look and see.

Thomas Middleditch (Richard Hendricks)

As Richard Hendricks, the Hooli coder who quits his job to pursue Pied Piper, his own compression application, Thomas Middleditch gave an Emmy-nominated performance at the center of Silicon Valley. This is his calling card role, though he was previously in The Other Guys and The Wolf of Wall Street. During his time on Silicon Valley, Middleditch was also seen in Joshy, Search Party, The Final Girls, Tag, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and Zombieland: Double Tap, and heard in Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie, Kong: Skull Island, and Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero, which he co-wrote.

Following Silicon Valley's finale, Thomas Middleditch was heard in Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe, Solar Opposites, and B Positive. Next, he stars in The Trail of the Chicago 7. He also appeared in Netflix's improv series, Middleditch and Schwartz, as well as several Verizon Wireless ads.

Zach Woods (Donald "Jared" Dunn)

As the persistently optimistic, consistently anxious, and darkly mysterious Donald Dunn, better known as Jared, Zach Woods remains a loyal advisor, considerate friend, and heartbreakingly hilarious comrade throughout Silicon Valley. For my money, he's by-and-far the HBO sitcom's best, brightest, and most bleakly funny character.

Prior to this role, Zach Woods was better known for playing Gabe Lewis in The Office. He was also seen in Veep, In the Loop, The Other Guys, The Heat, and The Good Wife. During Silicon Valley's run, he also appeared on Playing House, The Post, Spy, and Ghostbusters. Following Silicon Valley, Woods joined HBO's Avenue 5. He also starred in The Angry Birds Movie 2, Big Mouth, Downhill, and a new episode of The Simpsons. Most recently, Woods made his directorial debut with the short film David, which he also produced. It premiered at last month's Toronto International Film Festival.

Martin Starr (Bertram Gilfoyle)

In the role of Bertram Gilfoyle, a system architect and network engineer for Pied Piper, Martin Starr brought great deadpan wit to this sardonic Satanist. His dry delivery was always a constant source of scorching wit with pinpoint accuracy. Before he joined the team, however, Starr was most well-known for his roles in beloved short-lived shows like Freaks & Geeks and Party Down. He also played prominent roles in Knocked Up, Adventureland, This is the End, Walk Hard, Superbad, Dead Snow: Red vs. Dead, Burning Love, and Adult Swim's NTSF:SD:SUV::.

During his time on the program, Martin Starr was also notably seen in Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home. The actor also appeared in episodes of Life in Pieces. Following Silicon Valley's tenure, Starr acted in Honey Boy and lent his voice to Netflix's Tacoma FD. Next, he stars in Samaritan.

Kumail Nanjiani (Dinesh Chugtai)

Before he found fame writing/starring in the acclaimed indie dramedy, The Big Sick, for which he was Oscar-nominated, Kumail Nanjiani was most notably known for playing Dinesh Chugtai, a talented programmer who's often the butt of the joke in Gilfoyle's pranks, in HBO's Silicon Valley. Prior to this performance, Nanjiani was seen in Franklin & Bash, Life As We Know It, The Five-Year Engagement, Burning Love, and Portlandia. He also lent his voice to Adventure Time.

During his time on Silicon Valley, Kumail Nanjiani also hosted Comedy Central's The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail and appeared in Goosebumps, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, and Hot Tub Time Machine 2. Following The Big Sick's success, Nanjiani played leading or prominent roles in Stuber, The Lego Ninjago Movie, The Lovebirds, Dolittle, and Men in Black: International. Next, he'll star in Marvel's forthcoming Eternals and The Independent.

Matt Ross (Gavin Belson)

Playing the antagonistic Galvin Belson, the corporate scrooge who serves as the founder and CEO of Hooli and the man who's constantly trying to bring Pied Piper down a few pegs, Matt Ross played a boisterous, mean-spirited, but often entertaining adversary in Silicon Valley. As an actor, Ross is known for American Pyscho, The Aviator, Good Night and Good Luck, American Horror Story, and Big Love. Of late, however, Ross has jumped behind the camera more frequently. In addition to directing a few episodes of Silicon Valley, Ross made his feature debut with 2012's 28 Hotel Rooms and he notably wrote and directed 2016's Oscar-nominated Sundance hit, Captain Fantastic. Next, he's attached to helm Tomorrow and Tomorrow.

T.J. Miller (Erlich Bachman)

As Erlich Bachman, a boastful, arrogant entrepreneur who partially owns Pied Piper and later becomes one of its board of directors, T.J. Miller was part of Silicon Valley's main cast for four seasons before he publicly exited the series in 2017. The actor-comedian notably starred in Cloverfield, Yogi Bear, She's Out of My League, Get Him to the Greek, Unstoppable, Rock of Ages, and Extract prior to his standout role in this HBO series.

During his time on the popular program, T.J. Miller was also seen or heard in Transformers: Age of Extinction, Deadpool, Big Hero 6, Office Christmas Party, How to Train Your Dragon 2, and The Emoji Movie. Following Silicon Valley, Miller made appearances in Deadpool 2, Underwater, and Ready Player One. Next, Miller is slated to star in The Stand-In, though a slew of controversies have derailed his acting career for the foreseeable future.

Amanda Crew (Monica Hall)

The associate partner under Peter Gregory (then eventually Laurie Bream) who formed a close friendship with Richard Hendricks and the Pied Piper crew throughout their turbulent journey, Amanda Crew's Monica Hall was a constant presence in Silicon Valley's six seasons. Making her film debut in Final Destination 3, Crew appeared in movies like Sex Drive and Charlie St. Cloud and the short-lived Canadian show Whistler before starring in this acclaimed HBO comedy series. She was also seen in John Tucker Must Die, She's the Man, The Haunting in Connecticut, Jobs, The Identical, The Age of Adeline, Race, Table 19, Smallville, and Suits, prior to, or during, her time on this show.

Following Silicon Valley, Amanda Crew starred in Tone-Deaf and Most Wanted, as well as the short films American Murderer and Thanks Nurses. She also directed music videos for Rhett George and Aly & AJ.

Josh Brener (Nelson "Big Head" Bighetti)

Better known as "Big Head," Josh Brener's Nelson Bighetti wasn't always comfortably placed into Silicon Valley's bouncing narrative, but he was always an appealing, good-natured, if often aloof, supporting character who was Richard Hendricks' best friend and Erlich's former tenant. Certainly, his often accidental moments of failure and triumph were a nice reprieve from Pied Piper's high stakes, make-or-break difficulties.

Outside of this HBO series, Josh Brener is also known for his roles in Maron and The Big Bang Theory. During his time in Silicon Valley, Brener was also heard in shows like Star Wars Rebels, Star Wars Resistance, and Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Christopher Evan Welch (Peter Gregory)

As Peter Gregory, the intelligent, socially awkward billionaire founder and CEO of Raviga Capital who agrees to invest in Richard Hendrick's start-up, Pied Piper, Christopher Evan Welch was set to be a major player in Silicon Valley. Quite unfortunately, however, the actor didn't make it past the first season's production. Welch was battling lung cancer during filming, and he tragically passed away on December 2nd, 2013. He was 48.

Outside of Silicon Valley, Christopher Evan Welch voiced narration for Vicky Christina Barcelona. He was also seen in The Master, Law & Order, The Stepford Wives, Synecdoche New York, Lincoln, The Sopranos, and several more movies and shows. This show was the actor's final role. Away from acting, Welch also sang in the rock band, Ottoman Bigwigs. He's most certainly missed.

Jimmy O. Yang (Jian-Yang)

Previously playing a recurring character, Jimmy O. Yang became a main cast member during Silicon Valley's second season. As Jian-Yang, he remained part of the lead ensemble until the show's conclusion. Often taking advantage of Elrich's ignorance, Jian-Yang was consistently the source of annoyance to his landlord, though he inspired several memorable b-plots. Certainly, Silicon Valley became the stand-up comedian's most high-profile acting part.

Through this show's popularity, Jimmy O. Yang found roles in Crazy Rich Asians, The Happytime Murders, Patriots Day, and The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part. This year, he starred in Like A Boss and Fantasy Island. He also played a recurring role in Space Force. Next, he'll be seen in The Opening Act and heard in Wish Dragon. He also published his memoir, How to American, in 2018, and released his first stand-up special on Amazon Prime in May.

Suzanne Cryer (Laurie Bream)

Following the unexpected passing of Peter Gregory, Suzanne Cryer's Laurie Bream takes over CEO duties at Raviga Capital. Her highly sophisticated but socially inept character was an unsuspecting and, in my opinion, underutilized comedic talent. Her quick wit and sharp performance resulted in many big laughs throughout. Prior to Silicon Valley, Cryer was an actress of the stage and screen who was best known for her role in Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place. During her time in Silicon Valley, Cryer was also seen in 10 Cloverfield Lane, Lucifer, and The Fosters. Following Silicon Valley, Cryer starred in episodes of All Rise and Hawaii Five-0.

Chris Diamantopoulos (Russ Hanneman)

Russ Hanneman is a scene-stealer. As the brash, cocky, foul-mouthed billionaire investor infatuated with his wealth, his big ego, and his pride, Chris Diamantopoulos played a fiery personality who was always a quick source for a good laugh. Prior to his recurring role in this series, Diamantopoulos was most notably seen playing Moe Howard in 2012's The Three Stooges. He also appeared in The Starter Wife, State of Mind, The Office, Up All Night, Arrested Development, About A Boy, Episodes, and more. And he starred in Broadway's Waitress in 2017. Most notably, Diamantopoulos is the voice of Mickey Mouse in Mickey Mouse. He also appeared in Good Girls Revolt and The Dangerous Book for Boys.

Following Silicon Valley, Chris Diamantopoulos starred in The Twilight Zone and Elementary, and he lent his voice to several recent or upcoming projects. Next, he stars in Red Notice.

Stephen Tobolowsky ("Action" Jack Barker)

Though he only appeared in the third and fourth seasons of Silicon Valley, Stephen Tobolowsky's "Action" Jack Barker provided an intriguing new role to Silicon Valley's mid-season juncture. An accomplished, celebrated character actor best known for Groundhog Day, Memento, Buried, Garfield: The Movie, Californication, Deadwood, Glee, Mississippi Burning, Single White Female, Spaceballs, and several more, Tobolowsky is an exceptionally distinguished performer, one who only continued to earn respect and acclaim by hosting the autobiographical podcast, The Tobolowsky Files. Outside of acting, Tobolowsky is also the author of three books, most recently including 2017's My Adventures With God. He also co-wrote David Byrne's True Stories.

Following Silicon Valley, Tobolowsky picked up a main role in One Day at a Time. He also plays a recurring role in Schooled and The Goldbergs. Next, he's slated to star in Butterfly in the Typewriter.

In Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: Far From Home, audiences get to learn a bit more about the life of Peter’s teacher, Mr. Harrington, and it turns out that he is a pretty miserable dude. For example, he made a discovery that his ex-wife didn’t actually disappear during The Blip, but instead was secretly living away from him for more than five years.

It’s a bit of funny dark humor in the Marvel Studios film, but there’s a funny bit of extra trivia surrounding it that you may not quite fully know. Namely, not only was a similar bit originally orchestrated for Mr. Harrington in the making of the sequel’s predecessor, Spider-Man: Homecoming, but it was material that hit the cutting room floor because it was deemed “too sad.”

I learned about this funny story direct from the source last week, as I had the wonderful opportunity to sit down with Mr. Harrington himself, Martin Starr, at Spider-Man: Far From Home’s home video press day in Los Angeles. The actor was paired for interviews with J.B. Smoove, who plays fellow teacher Mr. Dell in the new release, and it was actually the Curb Your Enthusiasm star who originally brought up Harrington’s miserable life, leading Starr to reveal,

As noted by the actor, there are indeed deleted scenes of Mr. Harrington on the Spider-Man: Homecoming home video release, and they’re specifically labeled “Mr. Harrington’s Lessons In Love” – which is most definitely meant to be an ironic title. While the material isn’t technically canon anymore, it’s a great running bit that shows that the high school teacher definitely isn’t doing too well following things getting a bit rocky with his wife, Tabitha.

It’s actually really funny stuff, but apparently that may suggest that my soul is made of darkness, because apparently the Spider-Man: Homecoming filmmakers felt it went just a touch too far.

The good news is that there was still plenty of alternate material that allowed Martin Starr to continue to have a significant part in the first Marvel Studios solo Spidey film – and it opened the door for the joke to continue in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Of course, one of the big differences between the two movies is the concept of The Blip being introduced, and that provided a setup that allowed Mr. Harrington to spin comedy gold.

When all is said and done, the man has definitely lived a rich and adventurous life. Not only do his high school teaching experiences regularly feature cameos from Spider-Man, but let’s not forget that this is a guy who was delivered a free pizza from The Incredible Hulk when he was still in college.

If a franchise is around long enough, then the greater the chances are you’ll have an actor return to play a different character. Just look at all the actors the Law & Order shows have reused over the years. However, every now and then there’s an opportunity to have the characters played by such an actorconnect to one another or even become the same character. Now it’s been confirmed that the latter is the case with Martin Starr in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Martin Starr first cameoed as a college student in The Incredible Hulk, credited simply as “Computer Nerd,” who Edward Norton’s Bruce Banner gives pizza to in order to access the Culver University computer lab. Nine years later, Starr returned to the MCU as Roger Harrington, a science teacher and head of the Academic Decathlon Team at Peter Parker’s school in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

During a recent Reddit AMA, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige was asked if we can assume if Martin Starr’s The Incredible Hulk and Spider-Man: Homecoming characters are the same people. Feige responded:

There you have it. If the head honcho at Marvel Studios consider Martin Starr to be playing the same individual in the MCU, then we can take that as a fact. When he briefly crossed paths with Bruce Banner, Roger Harrington was still going through higher education, but eventually he found a teaching position at the Midtown School of Science and Technology, where his life would intersect with another superhero.

It’s worth noting that in The Incredible Hulk novelization, Martin Starr’s character is named Amadeus Cho, who in the Marvel comics universe is a young Asian American man who is one of the smartest people on the planet and succeeded Bruce Banner as The Hulk in recent years. Obviously that portion of the novelization has been rendered non-canon, paving the way for a more faithful version of Amadeus to be introduced down the line. After all, we already met Amadeus’ mother, Helen, in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

While Roger Harrington’s participation in The Incredible Hulk was simply reacting with gratitude that Bruce Banner gave him pizza (there was a scene where he had dialogue, but it was cut), he had a more substantial role looking after his students in Spider-Man: Homecoming. He was on the elevator in the Washington Monument with some of the teens when the Chitauri energy core detonated, but fortunately Spider-Man saved him and the others before they fell to their deaths.

Martin Starr is reprising Roger Harrington this summer for Spider-Man: Far From Home, as Roger is one of the teachers chaperoning the trip to Europe. So naturally he’ll get caught up in Spider-Man’s latest adventure, but it remains to be seen if he’ll ever interact with Bruce Banner again. That would be quite a reunion, especially considering how Bruce is looking nowadays.

If you were watching Game of Thrones’ Season 8 premiere and somehow recognized a familiar face from one of TV's best comedies in a deadly sea of arrows, congrats! Double points to you If you realized that ghoulish face belonged to none other than It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star and co-creator Rob McElhenney.

That’s right. The It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia mainstay confirmed that he made his Game of Thrones’ debut in Sunday night's premiere, which was followed by his quick exit after a matter of seconds. If anyone still needs help placing where Rob McElhenney had appeared in the premiere, the actor himself shared an image from his Game of Thrones close-up. Check it out:

Rob McElhenney made his cameo as one of the Ironborn. His brief appearance went down during Theon’s rescue of Yara Greyjoy from Euron’s ship. It was a violent way to exit the show, too, as McElhenney’s Ironborn character chose the wrong side.

In a rare victory for Theon Greyjoy, he was able to save his sister from his evil uncle. That meant casualties, which included McElhenney’s character. Particularly the gross eye socket region.

When the camera lingers on a seemingly random character a little more, viewers tend to take a closer look. Game of Thrones is known for its tendency to pull focus on everything in those kinds of scenes, so that moment did not entirely standout to me as strange, or even as a “Hey, look it’s a famous person!” moment. Now, Rob McElhenney has a screengrab that forever proves he's a Game of Thrones alum. Not everyone is able to make such a lofty claim.

The It’s Always Sunny star was not the only famous comedy star to make his Game of Thrones debut. Silicon Valley’s Martin Starr also appeared, and like McElhenney, it was an in-and-out mission. His character was also one of those struck by an arrow during Yara's rescue. When you think about it, both Starr and McElhenney had the full Game of Thrones experience.

They lived during an exciting escapade, and then they died without their full stories being told. And unlike Ed Sheeran, the It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Silicon Valley stars made brief entrances and exits. (It was revealed in the premiere that Sheeran's character is still alive, but with his face completely burned off.)

I will have to pay even closer attention from now on to see if there will be any other celebs making brief cameos, since this is the final season for famous fans to do so. There is no shortage of opportunities for others to make a quick intro and outro, and quite a few have done it in the past.

One such chance would be with the Night King’s army. It may be worth paying closer attention to the White Walkers and their victims as they all get shown more.

This subtle cameo by these stars should not draw ire from fans as some previous cameos have. Fans will recall the uproar surrounding Ed Sheeran’s Season 7 run as a Lannister soldier. Rob McElhenny’s was literally blink-and-you-missed-it, so there was nothing to get too upset about for those concerned with Game of Thrones' narrative flow getting disrupted by recognizable stars.

While TV shows are cancelled every year, there are certain projects that live on long after the series wraps. This is definitely the case with Freaks and Geeks, which had one short season from 1999-2000. The teen dramedy was the first big break for plenty of future stars, including Seth Rogen, Jason Segel, James Franco, and Busy Phillips. While it was cancelled by NBC before it finished its first season, Freaks and Geeks has gone on to become a cult favorite, and is available to stream for Netflix users. With so many TV revivals currently being aired (and cancelled), there have been plenty of calls for Freaks and Geeks to return decades later. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like that's a possibility. Silicon Valley actor Martin Starr recently shut down the possibility of a revival, saying:

It looks like Freaks and Geeks might just not be the right project for a TV revival. Since it was a show following kids in High School, it wouldn't be the same to see the same cast as grown adults. Martin Starr may have poked fun at the physical appearance of the cast, but his point about the lack of content or story is certainly valid.

Martin Starr broke Freaks and Geeks fans hearts at The Wrap's Emmy Panel. While everyone involved in the show seems to be thankful for the show's brief life and the connections it fostered, Starr makes it seem like nobody is talking about a TV revival. Plus, the cast has gone on to become wildly successful, so it would be a scheduling nightmare to attempt and bring back both the starring and supporting cast for some sort of William McKinley High School reunion.

Martin Starr was also sure to mention his appreciation for the fans, and their continued interest in the series, saying:

It's not clear if a new Freaks and Geeks season would really resonate with mainstream audiences. Aside from being a cult favorite that isn't exactly a household name, TV fans may be getting sick of the trend of nostalgia. Shows like Will and Grace and Gilmore Girls have already had new episodes, while upcoming revivals like Murphy Brown are still coming down the pipeline.

There isn't a day that goes by that one small part of my brain fails to wish for a hidden cache to be found containing never-seen-before episodes of Freaks and Geeks, even though none of the cast or crew has ever hinted at more episodes existing. Well, that hasn't happened yet, but star John Francis Daley dropped a handful of behind-the-scenes photos from the show that I've probably never seen before, and now I just want to start mourning this show's 16-year-old cancellation all over again. Check them out!

The best of the bunch, as far as the heartstrings are concerned, is the shot of John Francis Daley laying across the lap of his TV sibling Linda Cardellini. Lindsay and Sam Weir didn't always get along, with their close ages conflicting with their wildly different interests (at least as far as Lindsay's rebel year went), but they remain one of the best brother/sister combinations in TV. I like to think that they, along with Wonder Years siblings Kevin and Karen, would be fantastic friends in adulthood. (Unlike Cardellini's current fictional family situation on Netflix's Bloodline.)

Then we have the shot of bow-legged Daley going all freak-out in the middle of William McKinley High, as co-star Jason Segel looks on amused in the background. Both of these guys look almost cartoonishly young here, especially for anyone who watched the actors go through adulthood on TV - Daley on Bones and Segel on How I Met Your Mother. Fun fact: that is exactly the pose and scream-face I'd make if the impossible-to-accomplish Freaks and Geeks Season 2 ever got announced. (I think they could do it like Wet Hot American Summer did for their Netflix series and just pretend they're all young again.)

And I'll end with the lovely on-set shot of not-yet-wildly-famous Judd Apatow talking with the show's titular geeks: Daley, Samm Levine and Martin Starr. It's unreal how much Hollywood influence and talent is in this shot, given how big their careers have gotten. In fact, when putting the Vacation reboot together, John Francis Daley had the plan to include Levine and Starr for an onscreen reunion, but it ended up falling through. One day...

Daley shared the photos on his Twitter page, crediting Freaks and Geeks writer Gabe Sachs with taking the photos. Let's all give Sachs a big round of applause right now for giving us a mental trip back to the lovely past of the 1980s in 2000. He's the creator of the current medical drama Night Shift, which will air the second part of its two-part Season 3 finale on Wednesday, August 31.

So while these images don't completely heal our woes, they do offer us the inspiration to go back and watch its 18-episode entirety (which can be found on Netflix). Sing with me: "I don't give a damn 'bout my reputation!"

The Spider-Man: Homecoming casting announcements and reports just keep coming in! Earlier this week, Community's Donald Glover was added to the lineup, and earlier today, it was reported that Prometheus star Logan Marshall-Green may join as one of the villains. Now it's been announced that Silicon Valley actor Martin Starr will appear in the Web-Slinger's latest movie.

This latest casting comes from Deadline, though as is often the case with superhero movies, they didn't identify who he will play. Here's a fun fact: this will actually Starr's second time appearing the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He previously played "Computer Nerd" in 2008's The Incredible Hulk, a.k.a. the guy Bruce Banner gave pizza to in the computer lab. A memorable cameo, to be sure (maybe not), but it's safe to say that his role in Spider-Man: Homecoming will be significantly more meaningful. In addition to the previously mentioned names, Starr joins a cast that includes Tom Holland, Marisa Tomei, Robert Downey Jr, Michael Keaton and more.

Unless that pizza-loving computer nerd decided to move to Queens and gets mixed up in Spider-Man's life, it's a good bet that Martin Starr won't be playing his Incredible Hulk character again. It's a similar situation to how the movie cast Kenneth Choi, who previously appeared as Jim Morita in Captain America: The First Avenger. Unfortunately, that still doesn't help us narrow down who Starr will play. The options range from being one of Peter Parker's teacher to a super villain. Regarding the latter, although The Vulture is said to be the movie's main antagonist, it was also rumored a couple weeks back that The Tinkerer would be a supporting villain. While Starr is much younger than Tinkerer is in the comics, he definitely fits the bill for the nerdy "tech guy," so it's easy to see him supplying special gadgets and weapons to the newest big screen Spidey baddie, either on his own free will or being forcefully coerced.

Nowadays, Martin Starr is best known for playing Bertram Gilfoyle on the HBO series Silicon Valley, so if he ends up playing someone with computer skills in Spider-Man: Homecoming, he's already have plenty of preparation from his TV role. His other credits include Freaks and Geeks, Party Down, Hawaii Five-0, This Is the End and the Veronica Mars movie. It's too soon to say whether Starr's Spider-Man: Homecoming appearance is a one off deal or if he could show up in sequels, but we'll keep you updated on what's going on with his character as more information comes in, which hopefully won't be too long (though really, that's applicable to almost all the actors involved).

When TV shows are taken away from audiences before anyone but grimy network execs want them to go, there is almost always speculation about what might have happened to the characters in the next season. That’s definitely the case for Freaks and Geeks, which NBC canceled after a lone critically beloved season. And now, some of the creative team and cast have shared what might have been for some of the characters had Season 2 existed.

Here’s what executive producer Judd Apatow said we could have expected from the titular geeks.

I kind of love that idea. For one, the scenes between Martin Starr (who played Bill) and Coach Fredricks (played by Back to the Future star Thomas Wilson) were great, because those two characters had such differing ideologies about life. It would have been great to see how that relationship moved forward, especially if it meant Starr was going to be getting into some athletically challenging situations.

Plus, considering just how well Bill, Sam and Neal fit together personality-wise – especially compared to the rest of the people they went to school with – I can’t imagine how their dynamic could have been different , even if their bodies were changing. Sure, they hung out with other people like Harold and Cindy and that smelly guy Gordon, but these were three characters who meshed better than the Freaks, even.

Just how far would Bill have gone over into the “other” side? Here’s what Starr told Vulture.

It seems that Starr was joining co-star James Franco on trips to the gym to work out, which is probably what he meant by those off-camera decisions. Obviously muscles and a toned physique didn’t really fit so well with the lanky Bill, and they tried to sway him from that life path. But at least it seems like they’d accepted a Buff Bill was possible by thinking out some plotlines to have him as a jock. I guess. That might have gone terribly, though. Yeah, it would have.

The real question, of course, is whether or not Season 2 would have brought back Shia LaBeouf.

Back in 1999, John Francis Daley, Martin Starr and Samm Levine teamed up to become one of the greatest nerd trios in the history of the television medium when they starred together on the short-lived but beloved series Freaks & Geeks. Fifteen years later, it looks like the band is coming back together - but they're doing so in a rather unexpected way.

Recently speaking with Vulture, John Francis Daley has revealed that he is going to be reuniting on screen with Martin Starr and Samm Levine in the upcoming Vacation reboot - which Daley is co-helming as his feature directorial debut. Asked if he would be making a cameo in the upcoming comedy, the actor-cum-director revealed that he is not only appearing in the movie, but that he is also working on a way to feature his Freaks & Geeks co-stars as well. The casting hasn't been 100% confirmed yet, but he clearly wants it to happen, saying, "I just wanted a chance to get the three geeks back together, in the same project."

Daley wouldn't reveal the nature of what he calls his "two-line cameo" due to spoilers, but it's interesting that he would mention it in the same breath as the announcement of Starr and Levine possibly being a part of the movie. This has naturally caused my geek brain to start ticking: is it possible that the three actors will be playing adult versions of Sam Weir, Bill Haverchuck and Neal Schweiber, thus making Vacation and Freaks & Geeks exist within the same fictional universe? This would potentially be messy continuity-wise, given that Freaks & Geeks was set in the early 80s (meaning that the characters would be about 20 years older than the actors in the year 2014), but we can all turn a blind eye to that in the name of a fun crossover. I would definitely be interested to see what those three Dungeons & Dragons-loving dorks are currently doing with their lives.

While we will certainly be on the look out for Daley, Starr and Levine in the upcoming movie, the real focus of the new Vacation film is Ed Helms, who will be playing an adult version of Rusty Griswold who has grown up and is taking his own family on a road trip. Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo will be reprising their roles as Clark and Ellen Girswold in the movie, which the rest of the impressive cast includes Leslie Mann (as the new Audrey Griswold), Christina Applegate (as Rusty's wife), Charlie Day, Chris Hemsworth, Keegan-Michael Key, and Regina Hall. Daley scripted with his longtime writing partner Jonathan M. Goldstein, who is also co-directing. The movie is still in production and will be coming to a theater near you on October 9, 2015.

Are you still pissed off about Freaks And Geeks getting cancelled all the way back in 2000? I am, and let the record show Judd Apatow is too. In fact, the popular director and super producer still carries so much anger from the critically acclaimed show getting axed by NBC that it drives him to keep accomplishing more and more.

Speaking at the Paley Center yesterday, Apatow, who executive produced the Paul Feig created show, let his true feelings bubble forth for the first time. He admitted he’s still mad at the executives who didn’t give the show more time to find an audience because he feels like they wrote off all of the brilliant actors, directors and writers who were so absurdly talented. They could have created something even more special with more time.

The insane list of people who were involved with Freaks And Geeks and would go on to more famous things has been recounted numerous times before, but for funzies, let’s go over it again. Seth Rogen (Knocked Up), James Franco (Milk), Jason Segel (Forgetting Sarah Marshall), John Francis Daley (Bones), Martin Starr (Party Down), Linda Cardellini (Grandma’s Boy), Busy Philipps (Cougar Town), Paul Feig (The Heat), Judd Apatow (40 Year Old Virgin). Beyond that, actors like Jason Schwartzman (I Heart Huckabees), Rashida Jones (Parks And Recreation), David Krumholtz (Numbers), Shia LaBeouf (Transformers), Ben Foster (310 To Yuma and Lizzie Caplan (Mean Girls) all found early work in small roles. Yet, despite all that talent and critical acclaim, the program only lasted a measly 18 episodes, all of which are cherished by fans.

Everybody needs something to drive them. Whether it be some perceived slight, a very real middle finger or a feeling of inadequacy, the most motivated people always have some kind of wound they’re trying to patch up or some kind of fear they’re trying to conquer. If being bitter about Freaks And Geeks is what Apatow needs to keep creating exciting projects, I say so be it. There are far stupider things to be mad about.

In the horror genre, it’s always more surprising when films don’t get sequels than when they inevitably do, especially on the indie front. So when it was announced that Norwegian director Tommy Wirkola would be revisiting Nazi zombie in a sequel to his 2009 cult hit Dead Snow, it only seemed strange that it hadn’t happened already. And honestly, we probably wouldn’t even be covering this film except that it has attracted the likes of Judd Apatow-world alum Martin Starr, reports Variety, along with comic actresses Ingrid Haas and Jocelyn Deboer. While that news is crazy enough on its own, they’ve also somehow decided to change the film’s name from Dead Snow 2: War of the Dead to the even more cringe-worthy Dead Snow 2: Red Vs. Dead. My interest in Starr’s involvement was cut in half by that stupid ass title.

Given the first film was a full Norwegian production, it’s somewhat surprising that this second film will be released in English as well as Norwegian, but the original was pretty popular here in the U.S., as well as many parts of Europe. And the plot reflects this, as it will follow the first film’s lone survivor, who soon finds himself taking on an even more expansive Nazi zombie army, only this time he has the assistance of The Zombie Squad, a professional team of zombie killers from the U.S. I’m sure some of you could hear me sighing unbelievably loud after writing that. I’m going to give Wirkola the benefit of the mountainous doubt, however, because Dead Snow contained some damned good moments amidst the genre buffoonery, and his latest movie, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, was on the flashier side of average. And having a cast of funny people doesn’t hurt.

Starr, who first achieved fame as the lovably awkward Bill in Freaks and Geeks, was most recently seen in Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s apocalyptic comedy This is the End, as well as Adult Swim’s police procedural spoof NTSF:SD:SUV and the reality show parody web series Burning Love. He was also in Abe Levy and Silver Tree’s below-all-radars indie thriller Deep Dark Canyon. You can find him soon opposite Kristen Bell in both The Lifeguard and Veronica Mars.

Though Haas’ feature work has been limited to Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World and Jason James’ upcoming comedy That Burning Feeling, she’s appeared on Chelsea Lately and episodes of The League and Key and Peele. She also starred in some CollegeHumor Originals, just like Deboer. Aside from a few really independent movies in 2009, Deboer has really only been seen on TV for an episode of Inside Amy Schumer, but will appear in Victor Levin’s upcoming romantic comedy 5 to 7.

There’s no word on when Dead Snow 2: Red Vs. Dead will be releasing, but hopefully it drops the ass end of that name before it does. With a cast that boasts buzzed about comedic actors—like Community's Alison Brie and Party Down's Lizzy Caplan and Martin Starr—as well as a unique perspective on the romantic comedy, Save the Date drew plenty of attention at this year's Sundance Film Festival, including a nod for the Grand Jury Prize in the drama category. Yet somehow the sophomore effort from writer-director Michael Mohan (One Too Many Mornings) did not score a distribution deal…until now.

Variety reports that at long last IFC has purchased all North American rights to the unconventional romantic comedy that stars Brie and Caplan as two sisters whose misadventures in romance involve wedding planning, rock stars, and a mild-mannered marine biologist, making it the last major purchase out of Sundance. However the trade reveals it wasn't cold feet that kept IFC from closing the deal on Save the Date, it was the film's producers who were approached by several possible suitors, but were holding out for their Mr. Right…or at least the right offer. As to what IFC offered that won the producers over, details on the deal are not being revealed; not even a save the date for Save the Date's release has yet been announced.

Nonetheless, this appears a shrewd move for IFC. Save the Date was initially counted as part of the Bridesmaids effect that hit Sundance, in that it's a rom-com that centered on female characters and approached sex and romance in a more frank/less glossy manner than the overeager efforts of Katherine Heigl and Kate Hudson. With Bridesmaids pulling in more than $280 million worldwide, there's clearly a market for this sort of cinema, yet by selling to IFC Save the Date's producers seem more interested in shopping the film to an audience who may appreciate its unique merits rather than those who might seek it out for its superficial similarities to the bawdy game-changer. This is likewise good news for Brie, Caplan and Starr who are all steadily carving out impressive careers with sidesplitting yet layered performances.

The generic, wedding-centric title Save the Date might suggest the kind of bland, lifeless romcoms you go to the Sundance Film Festival to get away from. But the movie is one of many at this year's festival that seems to revive the whole idea of watching two people fall in love onscreen, following two sisters in two very different relationship stages as each makes mistakes and slowly figures out what it really takes to commit to somebody. Featuring strong performances from both leads Lizzy Caplan and Alison Brie, along with lovely supporting work from their male suitors Martin Starr, Geoffrey Arendt and Mark Webber, the movie treads the familiar ground of love and family while telling a uniquely layered story of its own.

Caplan and Brie make for perfect casting as a pair of sisters tightly woven into each other's lives, as Beth (Brie) is engaged to the drummer (Starr) of a band called Wolf Bird, while Sarah (Caplan) is just moving in with the band's lead singer Kevin (Arend). We see from the very way that Sarah packs up her apartment she's not completely ready for commitment, but Kevin is oblivious, popping the question to her in the most public, and eventually most humiliating, way possible. Wolf Bird goes on tour, and Sarah makes her way out of the fog of a breakup partly through a quick new relationship with Jonathan (Webber), a meek marine biologist who's been crushing on her for ages. The relationship is obviously moving too fast, which perfectionist Beth can't help pointing out, but she's also caught up the details of a wedding her fiance is less interested in planning, and seems to think the messy details of her sister's life are just one more obstacle she has to deal with on the way to happily ever after.

Each of the characters in Save the Date spring from familiar movie types, from the type-A girl meddling in the lives of her loved ones to the heartbroken rock singer letting out his feelings onstage. But director Michael Mohan allows layers to develop in all of them, giving us time in each relationship to see how they worked and why they didn't, and letting every characters' choice come from a real place, not the demands of a script in a hurry to get to the happy ending. Occasional illustrations of the actors done by Sarah give the movie a nice quirky sheen, but it's the honesty and warm spirit of the movie that really sells it-- sure it's about hip LA people who are all easy on the eyes, but these are all people you probably know, and it's hard not to identify with them even when they're making colossal mistakes.

Caplan is having a good year at Sundance between this and Bachelorette, and carries a lot of the film's emotional heavy lifting without reaching too hard for it. Webber is having an even better Sundance, appearing as a similarly scruffy dream boyfriend in For A Good Time Call and directing himself in the micro-budget weepie The End of Love-- with a mild-mannered charm in Save the Date that doesn't cross over into being a doormat, he makes a strong impression by letting his co-stars take most of the attention. But maybe the film's biggest surprise is Martin Starr, known as Freak and Geeks's scrawny Bill Haverchuck, who emerges with a surprisingly soulful and subtle performance as a supportive fiance who knows exactly how to pick up the pieces.

Save the Date coasts a little too easily to its conclusion, and ends on a note of ambiguity that feels more like a safe choice than an actual gamble, but it's so pleasant getting there that it seems churlish to complain. The movie doesn't yet have a distributor in place, but it should only be a matter of time before Mohan's stylish, refreshing spin on the rom-com genre finds its way to larger audiences.

One week ago, the long summer vacation came to a much needed end and the halls of Greendale were once again alive with, well, the usual Dan Harmon and company craziness. The Season 3 premiere of Community was a little cluttered but definitely delivered a promising start for a another year with our favorite community college students and staff. Yes, all was resolved and the group is back, fully assembled and ready to tackle anything that might come their way. This week it's "Geography of Global Conflict."

Joining the study group for this week's episode are a few new faces and hopefully they can live up to the last week's guest appearances from Michael K. Williams (yes, Omar from The Wire) and John Goodman. First, as you can see in the clip below we're introduced to, as Jeff puts it, Annie's "multi-cultural evil twin" Annie Kim. Not to get all 'The Simpsons did it' but this is a little reminiscent of the Lisa vs. Alison rivalry from the aptly titled episode, "Lisa's Rival." Oh, well, as South Park taught us, The Simpsons has done everything so instead of focusing on that, let's just enjoy the laughs that Annie's crazy competitiveness with other Annie gives us.

Martin Starr, one of the most exciting guest spots for the entire season, shows up in the second clip as Professor Cligoris ("either pronunciation is fine") and kills it. This preview packs a whole lot of funny into 34 seconds, mainly because we get to see Starr do what he does best, which is play the slobbish and snobbish intellectual loser to absolute perfection. The back and forth between him and Jeff (or him and everyone) is priceless and shows that the Harmon and company continue to know what they're doing when it comes to casting guest spots.

Community "Geography of Global Conflict" airs on Thursday at 8 p.m. on NBC.

This genre, without any doubt, is ripe for parody. I mean, some of the police procedurals on TV are so ridiculous, with their hot detectives and hotter one-liners, that they are teetering on becoming parodies of themselves anyway. I can't watch David Caruso on CSI: Miami without laughing hysterically. Adult Swim has decided to take the genre and make it funny, you know, on purpose, with their new show NTSF:SD:SUV::.

Yes. That is the name of the show, multiple colons and all. The acronym NTSF:SD:SUV:: stands for National Terrorism Strike Force: San Diego: Sport Utility Vehicle:: (I'm still unsure why there are an additional two colons after vehicle but at the same time I'm unsure why people continue to watch the straight versions of the genre). These guys aren't the first to ridicule the CSI-style cop show, Billy Baldwin and Kristen Bell did a great job in the hilarious Forgetting Sarah Marshall, but they might be the first to bring it to TV, in fifteen minute installments.

The show was created by and stars familiar-comedy-face Paul Scheer (who's been in everything from Parks and Recreation to Piranha 3D) as well as a huge ensemble of talented comedians including Rob Riggle, Brandon Johnson, Ed Helms, Adam Scott, June Diane Raphael, Martin Starr, Rebecca Romijn and, Captain Janeway herself, Kate Mulgrew. It seems like it will strike a similar tone, style and format the another Adult Swim breakout, Children's Hospital.
