I feel like it’s been so long since I watched a new episode of Masterchef that I don’t think I could name a current season contestant if you asked me. Part of the problem is we weren’t sufficiently far into watching Masterchef Season 16 when Fox unceremoniously took the Gordon Ramsay starrer off the air. It’s not canceled, thank goodness, but it is seriously crazy how long it’s going to be before we get a new episode. Let’s talk it out.

Masterchef Is Off The Air Thanks To World Cup

So why is the popular reality competition show even off the air right now?

I think it’s easiest if we just talk about the elephant in the room, which is the World Cup. As you may well know, World Cup games are being played throughout the U.S. They are also airing across the U.S. on a smattering of networks including ESPN, NBC and Fox. The latter of which is the network that hosts all the Ramsay shows, including Masterchef, which is typically a summer program.

Unfortunately, that means it would theoretically be running during primetime when Fox knows people would rather be tuning in for soccer games right now. I get the hiatus in theory, but how it is working out in practicality is not great for viewers.

Masterchef Is Going To Be Off the Air For Weeks

Here’s where I get frustrated. Masterchef only began airing its new season back in April. Fans got through the audition round episodes, which are always less popular episodes, anyway. Then, we got four traditional Masterchef episodes in May and early June. Now, the show’s been off for weeks, and it’s not expected back soon.

In fact, all said and done, Masterchef will be off the air for six weeks in a row before Fox returns to its regular programming on the 2026 TV schedule. It was not summer or sweltering where I live when the show went on hiatus. It is now both summer and sweltering where I live, and I still have weeks to go before my favorite summer show is back on the air. Masterchef is expected to air new episodes again starting on Wednesday, July 15th.

I should note that it is very common for network TV shows to take hiatuses. We saw shows like SNL get pre-empted thanks to the Winter Olympics on NBC earlier this year. Sometimes network TV shows just take a few weeks off in the fall or spring, too. It’s not unusual to miss a couple of weeks. It’s also not uncommon for shows like Survivor to take really long breaks in between full seasons (more on how that production works).

However, six weeks is an incredibly long break to take in the middle of the action. We were just getting to the point in the season where many of the also-rans were getting eliminated and the really talented folks were starting to shine. Group challenges were a hot mess! Gordon was yelling at everyone! We were really getting into the good stuff, and now we’re just waiting. And waiting. And waiting.

Again, I hardly blame Fox for wanting to air the World Cup. I certainly don’t blame fans for wanting to watch the World Cup. It just feels like we could have either started the season earlier or picked it up later in order to avoid this mess, and I really hope the show doesn’t lose viewers for the rest of the season because of it.

How To Watch MasterChef Season 16

Nobody works a kitchen like Gordon Ramsay, whether that kitchen is at the heart of a reality TV competition or within his 3 Michelin star-earning restaurant in London. He's been a TV mainstay for the past two decades and then some, and currently has a handful of different food-focused series that are currently active, such as Next Level Kitchen and Gordon Ramsay's Secret Service. But arguably his most well-known series to date is the high-stakes competish MasterChef.

The long-running series, which is based on the UK original and also has an Australian spinoff, is set to kick off its 16th season, which features the subtitle Global Gauntlet. Read on to find out how to stream the show from anywhere.

One of the best things about theme parks is the way that attractions can come together with your favorite movie franchises to make great rides. Roller coasters are always fun, but as a super fan of Tron, Walt Disney World’s Tron: Lightcycle Run is extra great because it makes me feel like I’m part of that story.

But now two of my favorite things are coming together in a very different and unexpected way. As a big fan of both MasterChef and Next Level Chef, two of Gordon Ramsey's nearly endless list of cooking shows, and as somebody who makes it his job to eat the best food at Disneyland, I’m looking forward to a future trip to Disneyland Resort, as it will soon include a Gordon Ramsey restaurant.

A Gordon Ramsey Restaurant Is Coming To Downtown Disney, And It Sounds Super Fun

Downtown Disney, the shopping and dining complex of the Disneyland Resort, has been undergoing a major overhaul over the last couple of years. One of the new buildings announced last year was called the Carnaby Tavern. It was set to include Downtown Disney stalwart Earl of Sandwich on the ground level with a table service restaurant above it.

Today, Disneyland announced that a new gastropub, Gordon Ramsey at The Carnaby, will be moving into the upper level. The new restaurant, the first of its kind within the Gordon Ramsey restaurant empire, will be themed to 1960s-era London, complete with Ramsay's elevation of pub food favorites.

Some of Gordon Ramsey’s signature dishes, like his beef wellington and sticky toffee pudding, will be on the menu. As somebody who has seen those dishes on shows like MasterChef more than once, I’ve always wanted to try them, and Gordon Ramsey at The Carnaby will be my chance.

In addition to the food and drink, the restaurant will also have live music on select nights, all in keeping with the 1960s London theme. It sounds like a pretty fun place to get a meal in Downtown Disney.

Downtown Disney Has Become One Of The Best Parts Of The Disneyland Resort

A few years back, a large area of Downtown Disney was cleared out to make room for a planned hotel that never happened. Since then, Downtown Disney hasn't been as much fun as it could have been, but the area has been slowly returning to, and surpassing, its former glory.

The addition of Gordon Ramsey to Downtown Disney is just the latest example of what has been an incredible era of growth and improvement for the shopping and dining complex. The addition of Din Tai Fung, Parkside Market, Paseo and Centrico has really elevated the dining options. The creation of the Downtown Disney stage, which has live music almost every night, has added to the entertainment offerings as well.

In addition to Gordon Ramsey at The Carnaby, another chef with Michelin stars, Joe Isidori, is bringing the Arthur & Sons Steakhouse and Pearl’s Roadside BBQ to the former location of Tortilla Joe’s Mexican Restaurant. Downtown Disney is only looking and tasting better and better, and I can’t wait until all these new additions are here, though I’m not sure where I want to eat first.

In the midst of gimmick seasons, judging changes and Covid-related abnormalities, MasterChef quietly stopped doing one of its best challenges. For its first ten seasons, the pressure test was used consistently as a way to determine how some contestants got eliminated, but then suddenly, it was gone without explanation. Now it’s back, and I’m confused but also really fired up.

Before we start cooking, let’s do a little prep work here and talk about what the pressure test is and how it was used. As I said, MasterChef has undergone a lot of format changes over the years, but at its most basic, the show works with an every other week structure.

The first week, contestants compete in a challenge inside the MasterChef Kitchen. Typically, it’s a mystery box that requires each player to make a dish using the ingredients in their box, or sometimes based only on a specific protein in their box. Now and again, it's something a lot weirder like the beloved tag team challenge, but regardless, it always takes place inside the MasterChef kitchen.

The second week, the surviving contestants split into teams and do a challenge where each group cooks for like a large group of randoms at a weird location. Maybe it'll be a hundred hungry farmers. One team might choose to make steak tacos with slaw and corn, and the other might choose to make a chicken sandwich with fries and green beans.

That’s where the pressure test used to come in. The losing team would see some or all of its members compete in a short timed challenge back in the MasterChef kitchen to determine who goes home. Typically, it would force them to do something like make a perfect poached egg or cook a steak to exactly medium rare. More often than not, it would be something they were capable of doing, but the pressure of potentially going home would make it harder to execute.

It was always riveting to watch, but unfortunately, in more recent seasons, the show stopped doing it. Instead, Gordon Ramsay and the judges would eliminate whoever they felt did worst in the team challenge itself and immediately send them home. In fairness, that format allowed us to see a little more of what actually happened during the challenge. It also eliminated an entirely separate shoot for the crew, but in cutting those corners, it also removed one of the most compelling elements of the show.

To be honest, I assumed we’d never see the pressure test again, but then, out of nowhere, Ramsay told the contestants on last week’s episode that the losing team would head into a pressure test. I audibly gasped and pointed at my television like that Leonardo DiCaprio meme from Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. It’s apparently going to kick off during the next episode, and I am elated.

There’s no obvious right answer for long-running reality shows. If you stick too closely to the same format, some fans get bored and eventually bail on the show. If you tinker with the specifics too often, however, other fans will get frustrated and stop watching. It’s a delicate balance, which is why I don’t blame MasterChef for experimenting and getting rid of the pressure test for awhile. That being said, I cannot believe it took them this long to bring it back. Producers had to know fans have been clamoring for it.

Regardless, I’m just glad to see it back. MasterChef hit the TV release schedule a little more than a month ago, and you can watch it with me on Wednesdays on FOX or the next day on Hulu.

MasterChef is one of my favorite shows on television. If I had my way, it would run in the spring and fall so we’d get two seasons a year instead of just one during the summer. It’s a delightful way to spend an hour and has made me want to improve my real life cooking, but as a fan, I need to say something out loud. I love how the actual competition is formatted with episodes alternating between the always chaotic team challenges and solo challenges, but I absolutely hate the structure of the auditions.

Once upon a time, the way it used to work is a potential contestant would cook for the judges, and they would decide, based on the strength of the dish, whether that person deserved an apron to get on the actual show. So, in theory, they were cooking against every single other person auditioning to meet some kind of threshold of performance in the minds of the judges.

That’s not the way it works anymore though. Instead, they have contestants literally cook against each other with the winner taking home an apron and getting a spot on the show. Instead of competing against everyone, they’re competing against one person in a mini-battle that sees one of them advance.

Let’s use this season as an example. The theme is duos, and contestants are auditioning as pairs alongside someone they’re close to. So, we might get a husband and wife or a brother and a sister or two firefighters that cook together at the station. So, it’s not 1v1. It’s 2v2, but the concept is the same. Producers will pair two husband and wife teams together, and they’ll both cook at the same time. The judges will taste each of their dishes and decide which one goes home and which duo gets the apron and advances.

That sounds good on paper. It adds a more direct competition element to the auditions and allows viewers to root for the team they’d rather see go through. In real life, however, it can be really frustrating to watch, and I’m sure it’s infuriating for the actual contestants too because the quality of these auditions varies sharply.

We’ll see one audition where both teams absolutely knock it out of the park. Judges Gordon Ramsay, Joe Bastianich and newcomer Tiffany Derry will rant and rave about what both of the duos did and talk about how impossible the choice is. Then they’ll send one team through and one team will be left devastated as they exit the MasterChef kitchen for good. Then we’ll get the next audition and both teams will make blatant amateur hour mistakes. Stuff will be undercooked. The flavor combinations will be all wrong. They’ll both be a hot mess but because of the format, we’ll see one of the teams go through.

Clearly, the producers have an eye toward casting with the entire process. I’m not saying they’re intentionally letting worse teams through because they think they’ll make better television, but I am saying if you look at the pairs they put together, it’s quite obvious they’re both candidates to fit a particular role on the show. So, we’ll get two pairs of longtime dude friends cooking against each other. Next, we’ll get two happily married couples cooking against each other. The producers obviously want to fill that archetype to balance out the show.

Finding some level of balance and personality variance is important to creating a fun and watchable season, but the way these audition episodes are put together just make it really obvious that many of the better contestants are getting cut. It’s just being rubbed in our faces that worse people are getting through.

I think there are two possible solutions here. Either the show should return to how the auditions used to be held with everyone auditioning on their own and either getting aprons or not getting aprons, or they should no longer air the auditions, have the producers cast whoever is going to make the best television and give us a few extra episodes of real competition. Maybe we could get non-elimination weeks or maybe the show could start with a few more people to fill the extra episode count.

MasterChef is great. Despite changes in judges, various seasons with gimmick formats and the occasional twist that goes too far, it has maintained a fun level of quality. I’ll keep watching the show as long as they’re going to make it, but next season, I hope I tune in to find the audition episodes either changed format or don’t exist anymore.

In an era where your favorite streaming series can go three years between seasons, there’s a lot to be said for the comfort that comes with knowing your favorite show is coming back year after year. For me, summer isn’t summer without new episodes of Masterchef. However, this summer will be different for the show in a few ways, most notably via new judge Tiffany Derry.

Fans who watch other cooking shows will likely recognize Tiffany Derry as she’s appeared and excelled in several franchises, from an impressive performance on Top Chef to Cutthroat Kitchen to Worst Cooks in America. She’s been a competitor, a host, and a judge at various times, and now she’s putting that latter skill to the test on Masterchef.

She’ll be joining king of the cooking shows Gordon Ramsey and part-time singer Joe Bastianich for Season 15, and you can tell from her Instagram post just how excited she is. She said:

While Derry is thrilled to be joining the team, and it’s wonderful to have a woman on the panel for the first time in years, this is sad news for me. Derry joining the panel means that Aarón Sánchez, who has been a judge on the show since Season 8, also the last time there was a female judge, has left the show. Sánchez’s departure doesn’t seem to have been addressed, so it’s unclear if leaving was his call.

Whatever the reason, Derry is quite excited to be joining the new season. She says deciding to join the show was tough, but it sounds like she had a great time. Check out her full comments below.

A new judge isn’t the only big change coming to Masterchef Season 15. The last few seasons of the show have had some sort of theme, and the theme this season will be “Dynamic Duos.” Teams of two will actually compete throughout the season together, with pairs made up of best friends, family members, or romantic partners. Also, the Pressure Test, an early form of elimination that saw those at the bottom compete against each other to stay in the competition, will be making a return.

This should all make for interesting drama, though the fact that Masterchef rarely breaks down into reality TV personality conflicts has always been one of my favorite things about it. One can imagine people who tend to get along may have difficulty doing so under the pressure of Masterchef.

A premiere date for Masterchefi Season 15 has not been announced, but the show will debut this summer on Fox, with episodes available with a Hulu subscription the next day.

On the US side of the 2024 TV schedule, the world of the Gordon Ramsey reality competitions has seen a big format change on MasterChef signifying that the long-running institution is evolving. On a more unfortunate note, some upheaval looks to be in the works for the UK version, as long-time host Gregg Wallace is stepping down after allegations of sexual harassment from BBC broadcaster Kirsty Wark.

While Wallace has made a statement accompanying his decision, Wark has also spoken out, further describing the instances from which this accusation came.

Kirsty Wark’s Story Of The Alleged Sexual Harassment On MasterChef UK

The stories of Mr. Wallace’s reported misconduct came from a letter reported by BBC News. Sent to the network's management, this missive contained “allegations of inappropriate sexual comments.” In addition to those comments, the English talent was also said to have frankly discussed his sexual activities and made remarks to female staffers about whether or not he was wearing underwear.

Sourced from 13 people and encompassing a period of 17 years, Ms. Wark shared her own experiences in light of recent events. A Celebrity MasterChef contestant from the 2011 season, Kristy Wark had supposedly witnessed an instance of Gregg Wallace’s alleged malfeasance, which she recalled through the story below:

At the moment Banijay UK, the company that produces MasterChef UK, has launched an official investigation into the reported behavior of Mr. Wallace. Based on the reporting on this issue, it sounds like the program’s host may be hoping to return to his job should he be cleared of such allegations.

Of course, Kirsty Wark wasn't the only person who made a statement about the perceived pattern of behavior from Gregg Wallace. Through a statement on social, pop icon Sir Rod Stewart had his own story to share, as you can see below:

Naturally, Gregg Wallace and his legal team have made their own statements exhibiting how they feel about this current bombshell. However, as you'll see below, the rebuttal is relatively locked down when compared to the outcries that prompted them.

How Gregg Wallace And His Representatives Have Responded To The MasterChef UK Allegations

In the defense of the MasterChef UK presenter, lawyers representing him have come out as saying that these stories are “entirely false.” Meanwhile, Gregg Wallace himself has made a brief statement on his Instagram, in which he addressed this issue thusly:

Typically if we’re talking about MasterChef’s show twists, it’s about the challenges that people are engaged in to potentially win the series. But as with any major production of this scope, when allegations of a nature this serious arise, a discussion must be had about how valid they may be and how to correct any perceived wrongs.

As the investigation into Gregg Wallace’s supposed misbehavior is just getting started, the answers to the questions at hand will be something to keep our eyes on. All we can really hope for at this point is that this inquiry is resolved in a timely manner, in which all involved can seek the justice they pursue.

The US variant of MasterChef can currently be streamed with a Hulu subscription, with past seasons also being available for free with ads on Tubi. That is also the same platform that fans of the UK Celebrity MasterChef can stream previous episodes in the US.

My husband and I always argue about what the best portion of any given MasterChef season is. Is it the auditions for the Gordon Ramsay show? Is it when a large swathe of contestants are left? Is it when the cast has narrowed down and you can’t hide behind a mediocre dish? One thing we can agree on is that the first team challenge is always a delightful mess every. single. year. And I was pleased as punch about the latest episode. 

MasterChef tee’d us up for the first team challenge with some cast interviews mentioning they were prepped to go out into the field, and when I say field, I mean a literal field. The cast split into teams to feed 101 members of the LAFC soccer team. Of course, there are four teams this season, and that’s where the chaos primarily ensued. 

While not all twists on the show work, the conceit on MasterChef Season 14 is just way better than a lot of other concepts the show has tried. Gordan Ramsay and the other producers have split the cast into four teams based on what generation they hail from: Baby Boomers, Millennials, GenX and Gen Z. Those four teams had to split into two teams for this challenge, which meant Gen X and Gen Z were paired together and Millennials teamed up with Baby Boomers. 

It was, for lack of a better word, chaos. It’s always a mess when these folks who are mostly home cooks try to start cooking in large volumes, but throw a bunch of slow moving and cranky old people in with assertive millennials and there were problems immediately. The captain Anna (a millennial) couldn’t get along with the previously likable but very foolish Rebecca (baby boomer) who inexplicably even argued with Gordon when he tried to tell her she needed help cooking halibut. 

Hot Tip: If you are on a reality competition show with Gordon Ramsay, maybe don’t argue with him or mutter at him under your breath.  

Over on the other team, Becca (Gen Z) did a great job keeping things moving during meal planning, but her idea of leadership was sending platitudes of encouragement out for the rest of the night. Two more enterprising members of her team, Chris and Adam, tried to actually jump in and get the execution of the steak right -- the toughest bit -- while the rest of her team quietly produced OK accouterments. They ultimately ended up 12 plates short of sending out enough dishes, though the other team ended up a little short too. 

Everyone was stressed on the red team (Millennials and Boomers) and talking smack about one another. That's reality TV drama in the most normal fashion, but the other blue team (Gen X and Z)  wasn't immune to problems either. Largely, on the blue team, everyone was trying to be supportive and help each other out but no one was able to really take charge and get enough plates out. At one point, service was going poorly and I distinctly remember Becca hopefully saying, 'It feels like a train wreck but stay with me.' As you may have guessed, nothing changed after this.

It's really hard to be the losing team when you are cooking steak for a sports team. (I'm hungry just thinking about the reality show.) They were the losing team. 

My husband would say that right now, while the chefs are trying to figure out who's great in the kitchen and who's not, there's the most honest and interesting reality TV moments happening. My counter argument would be that at this point a lot of chefs are hiding behind mundane tasks like cooking vegetables or making other sides. 

It's great TV, but the downside to this portion of MasterChef is that sometimes talented people go home early specifically because they take on leadership roles, while other contestants hide out in the middle. That's exactly what seems to have happened here, as the blue team ultimately lost, and those who attempted to take charge (Adam, Chris and Becca) were all on the chopping block. 

Chris ultimately went home this week after failing to execute on the cook of over 101 steaks, which honestly sucked because he was the only person on his entire team who really looked like he was trying to get a handle on this beast of a challenge and busting his butt to get stuff done, while Fatima phoned in a mediocre polenta and Becca tried to continually tell everyone how “proud” she was of them. 

I don't blame Gordon and co. for the decision, as there really is just a difference between executing like 6 steaks at home and executing like 100+ on TV. Chris just didn’t quite get there.  

Still, this is why I have a tendency to enjoy Gordon, Joe, and Aarón's critiquing best when there are 7-8 contestants left. At that point, most of the chefs who can't hack the competition have been eliminated and we get some of the best food of the season.

I still love a good trainwreck though. 

Before I get into this article, I need to make a confession. I really like MasterChef, but I only started watching the new season last night. I’m not super into the audition episodes, and I’m going back through and watching The Good Wife again. Add in House Of The Dragon, which just came back, the Euros and all the other stuff I typically watch each week, and MasterChef has been on the backburner. I figured I’d plow through the audition episodes and catch up in time for the regular ones. No big deal. Well, it turns out that was a mistake because MasterChef made a major formatting change this season, and it’s immediately shot up near the top of my must-watch list.

Rather than contestants competing as individuals, this year the hopefuls are being divided along generational lines. That’s right. The format is Baby Boomers vs Gen X vs Millennials vs Gen Z. Is it kinda hokey and forced in the exact network television way you’d expect? Absolutely. But am I loving seeing so many people from different age brackets try to live out their dreams and process the highs and lows in a combination of different and extremely similar ways? Absolutely.

With the exception of a lost Covid year, MasterChef has aired every summer since 2010 as part of Gordon Ramsay's arsenal of cooking shows. During most seasons, the format has been relatively consistent. One week the contestants would split into two teams, compete in some kind of challenge where they’d feed a mass of people (think making steaks for firefighters), and the worst players on the losing team, as determined by the judges would be put into a pressure test (think making a poached egg or a souffle). The next week the homecooks would compete as individuals, usually with some kind of mystery box, where they’d be forced to cook using a particular ingredient or set of ingredients with the loser usually going home. Then it would be back to a team challenge and so on.

Last year, the show switched up its format and had the contestants grouped into those from various regions of the country. The basic structure was largely the same, except a winning dish from a particular region sometimes guaranteed everyone else in that region immunity. Based on social media, fans seemed a bit mixed on whether they liked the alteration, but I think the dividing lines this season are way more interesting. Age is a much better binding factor than being from the West Coast.

While there are no doubt still MasterChef superfans, I suspect there are a lot of people in the same camp as me. Maybe they’ve dropped off watching at some point. Maybe they still DVR the episodes and get to them when they get to them. I obviously get it, but this format makes me excited to jump back in a big way. This is probably the most pumped I’ve been for a season in 5 or 6 years, and if you’re on the fence, take my advice and open the mystery box again. It looks like it’s going to be a ton of fun. 

The 2025 premiere schedule makes it clear when looking at offerings from celebrity chefs, one stands out as potentially the most revered in the foodie-friendly subgenre, even if some less savory four-letter words may be involved: Gordon Ramsay. Whether it's dispensing business-saving advice to restaurateurs in need, or weighing in on whether or not pineapple belongs on pizza, Ramsay remains one of the most popular chefs on television with a litany of programming to prove it.

While it often seems like at least one Gordon Ramsay-starring show is on the air at any given moment, there are indeed gaps between seasons in many cases. So here's our lineup of everything currently on the air, everything yet to come, and other programs that are done for now and are available for streaming. Ramsay is known for his criticism, but I think he’d have no notes about this fantastic list of offerings.

What Gordon Ramsay Shows Are On The Air?

There's no denying that the British chef has found a way to ensure he's on the tube quite frequently throughout the year with a wide variety of shows, whether he's doing the cooking or railing on others behind the stove. Here are the shows that are currently airing:

Hell's Kitchen

Hell's Kitchen is one of the longest-running Gordon Ramsay programs on television and has featured many surprising moments throughout its run. The series kicked off Season 23 in late September, and fortunately, we already know that Season 24 will be happening in 2025. I’m grateful, because seeing two teams take each other on in unique cooking challenges has become one of reality television’s greatest challenges.

What Gordon Ramsay Shows Are Coming To Television?

Gordon Ramsay might be the only professional chef with more television shows than Guy Fieri, and that's not a bad thing. Sure, there may be some similarities from the multitude of shows he's bringing to the back half of 2024 and beyond. But let's be honest, if viewers didn't like the general premise, they wouldn't still be on television. As such, here's a lineup of all the shows on the way for the new year, all of which feature Ramsay doing what he does best.

MasterChef (To Be Confirmed)

MasterChef closed out Season 14 this year, and what a season it was. The popular cooking competition that pits amateur and home chefs against each other for the coveted title of "Master Chef" had a Generations-themed season, and after many weeks of fierce competition, it was business owner Michael Leonard who ended up winning it all. While Fox hasn’t officially announced that the series will return for Season 15, it would be very surprising to find out the massively popular show would be canceled.

Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars(To Be Confirmed)

Being a great chef is a part of being a success in the food world, but being a great businessman might even be an even better asset. Perhaps this is why Gordon Ramsay started his Food Stars series, which focuses just as much on the successful business side as on food quality. Season 2 wrapped on July 24th, with Jess Druey taking home the $250,000 prize. There’s no official word just yet on Season 3, though it wouldn’t be surprising to see one of the more diverse offerings from Ramsay get another season.

Next Level Chef Season 4

With its third season having wrapped in May 2024, Next Level Chef will return to Fox for Season 4 likely in the 2025 premiere schedule. Next Level Chef will return for Season 4 as Gordon Ramsay, Nyesha Arrington, and Richard Blaishelps mentor three teams who compete in a stacked kitchen space of varying qualities. The top level is the best kitchen, the middle standard, and the lowest full of equipment that could be better. It's a fun premise, especially for those who like to see skilled chefs competing against whatever challenges they face. CinemaBlend's Alexandra Ramos called it Ramsay's best show in years for a myriad of reasons.

Kitchen Nightmares (2023)

Kitchen Nightmares continues Gordon Ramsay's attempt to save restaurant owners from financial ruin. The show has dealt with everything from people who inherited the business from their parents and don't know how to run a business to even worse nightmare situations than that. The series was revived by Fox for a revival season in 2023, and there’s reports that another season is in the works as of 2024. So far, though, no official word has come from Fox on that front.

MasterChef Junior

MasterChef Junior hasn't been on as long as the flagship series, but fans love it just as much. Deadline reported the spinoff, which has showcased talented young cooks like the late Ben Watkins, recently wrapped up will return for Season 9. We’re still waiting on the official word for whether or not it will return for Season 10 or not, so keep on the lookout for a premiere date and whatever awesome young talent will take a shot at becoming the next MasterChef.

Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted

Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted is a bit different than the usual offerings from the chef, as the National Geographic series follows him on a journey through some of the world's most remote locations in search of the best culinary dishes and cultural experiences that can't be found anywhere else. Some might think this is similar to shows Anthony Bourdain did back in the day, though Ramsay would be happy to contest it. While there hadn’t been a season since 2021, Studio Ramsay brought back the series for Season 4 recently and readers can stream it with a Disney+ subscription.

What Gordon Ramsay Shows Have Ended?

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. The good thing is that in this case, a good deal of these former Gordon Ramsay shows are either available to stream on Tubi, with a Peacock Premium subscription, or somewhere else. It's often said that the United States and the United Kingdom are two countries divided by a common language. They are also two countries that share a lot of entertainment crossover. When Hollywood tries to adapt hit British shows, both of those things are true. Sometimes the best British shows adapt perfectly, sometimes, they totally bomb in the U.S. Here is a list of times Hollywood tried to adapt British shows, and what the results were. 

The Office

The British version of The Office made Ricky Gervais a worldwide star. When it was adapted by NBC for the U.S. market fans were skeptical. The U.S. version quickly forged its own identity, after lifting quite a few jokes in the early episodes. Michael Scott (Steve Carell) is a doofus, like Gervais' David Brent, but he's not as mean, and the show has a softer heart than the British version. 

American Idol

Pop Idol was a runaway hit in the U.K., so it was only a matter of time before it was brought over to the U.S. In fact, the same team that made it a success in Britain, creator Simon Fuller and judge Simon Cowell, came with it, and brought American Idol to Hollywood. The rest, of course, is history. 

Shameless

The British Shameless debuted in 2004 to wild acclaim and ran for 139 episodes over 11 seasons. About seven years later to the day, the American version premiered on Showtime. It was a huge success, running for a total of 134 episodes, also over 11 seasons. 

Cuckoo

BBC Three had an immediate hit on its hands with Cuckoo. Season 1 revolves around Andy Samberg as an American hippie who is a fish out of water after marrying into a typical British family. Samberg left the show due to other commitments after the first season, but the show continued to be a success for four more seasons. That success was impossible to ignore, and in 2015 NBC ordered a pilot, with Michael Chiklis and Cheryl Hines starring, though the show wasn't picked up. 

Top Gear

Around 2010, one could make the argument that BBC's Top Gear was the most popular TV show in the world. It was shown in dozens of countries each week and was wildly popular in its home country. That led to international versions all over the globe, including the first American version, which ran for six seasons, starting in 2010. A reboot, Top Gear America, aired for three more seasons starting in 2017. 

Dancing With The Stars

Dancing With The Stars wrapped up its incredible 32nd season in December of 2023. It's hard to believe the wildly successful show has been on since 2005. DWTS was born from the also-massively successful Strictly Come Dancing in the U.K., which first aired about a year earlier, in 2004, on BBC One. 

Skins

During its seven-season run on E4 in the United Kingdom, Skins proved to be both controversial and very popular. That popularity led to an American version produced and aired by MTV in 2011. The controversy followed Skins, but the popularity did not and the show was canceled after just one season. 

Veep

HBO's Veep ran for seven amazing seasons, winning countless awards, and again proving HBO is the most consistently great network for original content. The Julia Louis-Dreyfus vehicle was based on a British show, The Thick of It, which, like Veep, was created by Armando Iannucci, and was similarly lauded over its four-season run. 

Dear John

NBC had a magical run of successful sitcoms in the 1980s and '90s. One of those, Dear John, starring Judd Hirsch, was taken from a popular British sitcom of the same name (not to be confused with the Taylor Swift song, also of the same name). Both shows revolved around a recently separated man trying to find his way by joining a divorce support group. 

Undercover Boss

Undercover Boss has been one of the most popular shows on American television for years now. Like so many other reality shows, it has its origins in the U.K. It started small there, with just two episodes in the first series in 2009, but it, like the U.S. version, has also been wildly popular in the years since. 

Antiques Roadshow

Is there anything more quintessentially British than Antiques Roadshow? First airing on BBC One in 1979, it has since aired hundreds and hundreds of episodes. It took a while for the Americans to get on board, but in 1997, PBS launched its version and it too has now aired hundreds of episodes. The format remains very popular on both sides of the pond. 

Cracker

The British detective show Cracker, starring the late, great Robbie Coltrane, has an enduring legacy in the U.K. The same cannot be said for the American version, starring the late Robert Pastorelli, which aired for less than one season in 1997 and 1998. 

Us & Them

Us & Them was a very short-lived sitcom starring Jason Ritter as Gavin and Alexis Bledel as Stacey. Originally intended to air on Fox in 2013, it didn't see the light of day until seven episodes streamed on Crackle in 2018. In the U.K., the show it was based on, Gavin & Stacey, helped make James Corden a star. 

House Of Cards

For American viewers, it might be hard to believe a show as American as House Of Cards would come out of a British series, but it did. The Netflix drama was inspired by a mini-series of the same name, itself based on a book, that first aired in the U.K. in 1990, and followed a similar plot line and production style. 

Too Close For Comfort

Keep It in the Family was a popular sitcom in the early 1980s on ITV in the U.K. The concept of a patriarch living in a house with his daughters in an attached apartment proved a success in the U.S. as well when it was adapted as Too Close For Comfort starring Ted Knight. 

Ghosts

When the 2023 Writers Strike halted the production of CBS's hit Ghosts, the network filled the airtime with the British show it was based on, also called Ghosts. Both shows have proven to be wildly popular with critics and viewers alike, on both sides of the Atlantic. 

Mad Dogs

The psychological thriller Mad Dogs launched on Sky1 in the United Kingdom in 2011 and had a successful five series run. The U.S. version starring Ben Chaplin, Billy Zane, and Michael Imperioli, however, was less successful. Despite solid reviews and what seemed like a decent audience on Amazon Prime, Mad Dogs wasn't picked up for a second season by the streamer

Trading Spaces

It's hard to understand why someone would choose to go on Trading Spaces. It sounds like a nightmare to have someone else decorate your house. Yet, the concept has been a hit on both sides of the Atlantic. First with the British show Changing Rooms, then later with Trading Spaces.

Life On Mars

The best word to describe the BBC series Life On Mars is "cool." The show, about a police officer who goes back in time to the '70s, oozed cool. 1970s Manchester, England was a wild place and the show depicts it brilliantly. The U.S. version, which aired in 2008 and 2009, was less cool. Despite some great sets and great performances from all the stars, it just didn't have the same cool factor and didn't work as well. 

MasterChef

Gordon Ramsey may be English, but he's a star in both countries. One of his biggest hits in the U.S. is MasterChef, a show that first aired in the U.K. in 1990, though he's never been a judge on his home country's version. Still, the format has worked in both the U.S. and the U.K. for years now. 

Payne

One of the most beloved shows in British television history is Faulty Towers starring John Cleese. The show, though just 12 episodes in total, has remained a favorite for decades. There have been multiple attempts to recreate the show in the United States over the years, including Payne, starring John Larroquette. The show lasted just nine episodes on CBS in 1999 before being canceled for low ratings. 

The Great American Baking Show

There is no question that The Great British Bake Off is wildly successful in both the U.K. and the U.S. The American version, The Great American Baking Show has been less of a success, but still somewhat popular. It just doesn't have the same charm as the original. 

Kitchen Nightmares

Who doesn't love watching Gordon Ramsey take apart entitled restaurant owners in Kitchen Nightmares? The show, which was revived in 2023 as Fox went all in on Ramsey after a nearly decade-long hiatus, was born from Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, which was a hit in the U.K. The shows are similar in format, Ramsey visits a failing business and helps revive it, but the tone of the shows are very different. Gordon is much more bombastic in the U.S. version. 

Free Agents

Free Agents is a weird one. It was a moderately successful show on Channel 4 in the United Kingdom, but not enough, one would think, to warrant a go in the United States. Yet, in 2011, NBC did have a go, and the results were unremarkable, as the show was canceled after just four episodes aired. 

The Minister Of Divine

The Vicar of Dibley is one of the most popular British sitcoms of all time. It's even been a hit on PBS in the United States. It is also uniquely British and the idea that it could be adapted in the U.S. is, frankly, silly. Yet, that's exactly what Fox tried to do in 2007 with The Minister of Divine starring Kirstie Alley. It was, predictably, a bomb, airing just the pilot episode and nothing else. 

Not Necessarily The News

HBO has been putting out great original content from its beginning and one of the earliest examples was Not Necessarily the News, which aired throughout the '80s. It was basically a comedic fake news show, and was based on hit British show, Not the Nine O'Clock News.

Queer As Folk

The cultural impact of Showtime's Queer as Folk was monumental. The show pioneered showing same-sex relationships on U.S. television. The British version of the same name did similar in the U.K. It starred a young Charlie Hunnam and Aidan Gillen in the U.K., and the drama translated perfectly to U.S. audiences. 

Hell's Kitchen

Hell's Kitchen was created by Gordon Ramsey in 2004 for ITV in the United Kingdom. The bombastic TV star left the show to other chefs after the first season when he brought the concept to U.S. televisions in 2005. The show has gone on to massive ratings ever since. 

Sanford And Son

Yep, that's right, even a show as American as Sanford and Son has British roots. the Redd Foxx-led '70s sitcom that lived on for years in syndication was inspired by the British show Steptoe and Son from the BBC in the mid-1960s. 

All In The Family

No show defines 1970s America like All in the Family. It highlights everything right and wrong about America, but it isn't uniquely American. Creator Norman Lear, who died in 2023 at age 101, based the show on Till Death Us Do Part, which was a popular BBC sitcom in the '60s. 

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire

Even game shows have been imported from the British Isles to North America. The most notable is Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. Launched in 1998 in the U.K., it wasn't long before a U.S. version was created, debuting with massive ratings in the summer of 1999. More than 3,000 episodes of the American version have aired since then. 

Gracepoint

The murder-mystery show Broadchurch was very successful during its run on ITV in Great Britain. Even though it was shown on BBC America, it was never very popular in the U.S. Still, that didn't stop Fox from ordering a limited series called Gracepoint in 2014. It even brought in one of the stars of Broadchurch, former Dr. Who star David Tennant. It was a moderate success. 

The Prisoner

The 1960s ITV sci-fi show The Prisoner is one of those shows that even if you don't know it, something you love was probably inspired by it. Long considered one of the most influential shows in television history, it was finally rebooted for an American audience in 2009 in a joint production between AMC and ITV, starring Jim Caviezel as Number 6. It was cool, but not nearly as impactful as the original. 

Sometimes the ideas work and sometimes they don't, but you can be sure that ideas and content will continue to flow back and forth between the United Kingdom and the United States. We can't wait to see what happens in the future. 

For nearly as long as television has existed, the medium has offered audiences programming devoted to the most delectable-looking of life’s necessities: food. As much as the fondant-covered landscape has definitely evolved over the decades, with all manner of fanciness and competitiveness put into play, a core slice of the Food TV spectrum sticks to the simplest of all formats, a chef in a kitchen showing viewers how to make scrumdiddlyumptious meals. 

Many of these shows share something in common, but not so much a particular culinary culture or ingredient. Rather, they can spark instant hunger cravings just from thinking about throwing an episode on. (Not so much the case with a lot of Seinfeld's best food moments, but I always crave a black-and-white cookie.)

Grab your most stylish bib and napkin set, your favorite movie theater snacks (rebranded for TV purposes), and make your way through the following buffet line of shows that will make you want to cook six-course meals, shows that will spark midnight munchies, and shows that might spark impulse trips across the globe. And if nothing so impulsive, at least the decision to switch over to some great food movies available to watch.

Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations 

The king of culinary travel series, Anthony Bourdain hit the road with Travel Channel in 2005 for the masterful No Reservations. The insightful and eye-opening series takes viewers’ appetites everywhere from bowls of bone marrow soup in Singapore to cheese plates in Italy to pots of fish curry in India. Even the more extreme cuisines Bourdain tries out in the locations he visits start to look surprisingly appetizing after hearing his earnest descriptions. 

Iron Chef

One of the most influential cooking competitions of all time, Iron Chef introduced U.S. viewers to a host of drool-worthy Asian dishes across the culinary spectrum (albeit through Food Network re-broadcasts). The battle results are never as impactful to me as the envy I feel regarding the judges tasting everything Chefs Sakai and Morimoto bring to the table. If only I could pan-fry this envy…

Rachael Ray

On top of the success of 30 Minute Meals and $40 a Day, celeb chef Rachael Ray debuted her long-running daytime talk show in 2006, offering viewers hundreds of daily dinner ideas that often hit the heights of the Yummo scale. Like many instruction-based shows and segments, Rachael Ray is ideal for when one’s appetite is limited to what’s readily available in the kitchen. Or a neighbor’s kitchen. 

Somebody Feed Phil

One of the early candidates for Netflix’s best food shows, Somebody Feed Phil is the second meal-centric series from Everybody Loves Raymond creator Phil Rosenthal, who brings a rather unique non-chef-fy vibe to the travel docu-series that perfectly complements all of the amazing dishes Rosenthal grubs down (without overdoing it) on around the world, from butcher shops in New Orleans to barbecues in Rio to utensil-worthy sandwiches in Santiago. 

America's Test Kitchen

On the nerdier side of the culinary TV spectrum is America’s Test Kitchen, the long-running instructional cooking show where the whole premise is based on chefs testing themed recipes dozens of times in order to perfect them, while dishing out tips and tricks on what to do and not do when preparing at home. If you want perfect chocolate chip cookies, perfect grilled fish, perfect lemon ricotta pancakes and more, look no further than ATK (and Cook’s Illustrated Magazine).

Nailed It!

Considering all of the often non-edible monstrosities that the contestants slop together each season, Nailed It! Isn’t a go-to for vicarious hunger pangs, but I can’t make it through an episode without wanting all the cake in my immediate vicinity. To the point where it’s become a Pavlovian response to just want cake anytime Nailed It! comes up. Jacques Torres’ mastery of chocolate is a super-sweet bonus.   

Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives

One of Food Network’s longest-running and most popular series, Diners Drive-Ins and Dives turned Guy Fieri into a culinary superstar, but even the oldest episodes remain rewatchable not for the host, but for the gobsmackingly delicious dishes he scarfed down across the country. (Somehow without packing on extra pounds.) From meatloaf sandwiches to seafood stews to barbecue to kebabs, Triple D is full of highlights that inspire travelers to seek out the restaurants that earned the Fieri seal of approval.

The French Chef

Not much can be said about Julia Child that hasn’t been already, but it’s a sign of her talent and impact that her seminal cooking series The French Chef can instantly make one’s stomach grumble with hunger, despite the fact that its final episode was produced in 1973. Not all of Child’s dishes may stand the test of time, but her takes on soups, pastries, and giant pieces of meat will always do the trick. 

Top Chef

Few shows on TV set the bar for visuals of pure appetite-driving succulence the way that Top Chef has in the years since its Bravo debut in 2006. This show would make me hungry even if it was just relegated to Quickfire Challenges, but adding the jaw-dropping Elimination Challenge meals sends it up through the stratosphere. A good Top Chef episode will leave viewers hungry for roughly 30 different dishes, and even the biggest fail is worthy of gnawing on. (Exception: two dishes that made Tom Collichio spit up.)

Chopped

With its limited-time challenges and ingredient baskets that occasionally feature frightful options, Chopped can make viewers want to scream, but still manages to whet appetites thanks to the seemingly endless number of competitors that have graced its kitchen over the years. If chicken feet and durian don’t get your interest, just skip to the next round or two, and you’re sure to find something to mentally savor over.  

Emeril Live

Just hearing the word “Bam!” can instantly still bring super-chef Emeril Lagasse to mind, thanks in large part to his long-running cooking series Emeril Live, which capitalized on his already strong popularity at Food Network. As a Southern Louisiana native, I’m particularly prone to drooling over Emeril’s signature NOLA flavors, especially when seafood is involved. 

Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown 

The fourth and final of all-star Anthony Bourdain’s mouth-watering shows, Parts Unknown marked his transition from Travel Channel to CNN. 12 seasons of dishes around the globe that any one person would be lucky enough to have some of, much less everything that Bourdain sat down to feast on. The Emmy-winning Parts Unknown will remain an important show beyond the food and cravings it inspired, for shining a spotlight on as many corners of the globe as it did, and in part because Bourdain’s death occurred between the eighth and final seasons. 

The Best Thing I Ever Ate

Even if many of Food Network’s most familiar faces weren’t involved with The Best Thing I Ever Ate, the series would still be quite the mouth-watering influence, based on its title alone. But all the talented chefs sharing their favorite meals just means all of the food on display is on an A+ tier, regardless of whether the themes are tied to breakfast, lunch, dinner or desserts. My brain gains so much weight watching this show.

Great Chefs

PBS made its mark as a go-to channel for food fanatics years before Food Network entered the picture, and it was the initial home for one of TV’s most prolific food celebrations, Great Chefs (as well as its various spinoffs and specials). With so many hundreds of episodes out there, there are still plenty of world-class chefs whose dishes I have yet to start fantasizing about while standing in front of an empty pantry.

Unwrapped

Not all hunger is sparked by Michelin-starred restaurants or the apex of grandmotherly home cooking, and the Marc Summers-hosted Unwrapped can easily spark a craving for one (or all) of the myriad snack foods explored. Wendy’s Frostys? Check. Carnival food? Most of the cereal aisle? Check. I think it’s time to hit the grocery store. 

Beat Bobby Flay

One of the best kinds of food competition shows, like Iron Chef, involves a lineup of hopefuls taking on a renowned name in the biz, and seemingly every episode of Beat Bobby Flay features a dish worth daydreaming about from the award-winner and/or his competitors. Especially when Flay is in his wheelhouse and the sauces are flowing.   

Take Out With Lisa Ling

Journalist Lisa Ling took her talents to the world of Asian takeout restaurants in America for the captivating Max series Take Out with Lisa Ling. A series with much more on display than just amazing food, the streaming series definitely shines an overdue light on various hot spots and mouth-watering dishes from various Asian families and restaurant owners.  

Binging with Babish

Home cook Andrew Rea is one of the most entertaining YouTube personalities in the food realm, due to his full-on embrace of pop culture’s most famed eats and drinks. Specifically, his series Binging with Babish brings to life dishes from everyone’s favorite TV shows and films, from The Simpsons’ root beer noodles to UHF’s Twinkie Wiener sandwich to Parks and Rec’s Turf ‘n’ Turf. Your taste buds’ mileage may vary, but I kinda want all of it. 

Cupcake Wars

When savory cravings are too much to deal with, conjuring up thoughts of Cupcake Wars is an easy way to get the sweet tooth crying for attention. I’m admittedly not all that interested in the competitive side of the long-running Food Network hit, but am a total sucker for endless amounts of buttercream-coated displays. Cupcake wrappers optional. 

Chef's Table

Netflix’s Chef’s Table is the still relatively rare food docu-series that focuses entirely on a different chef in each episode, without hosts or presenters distracting viewers from all the culinary masters’ fantastic dishes being created around the world. For those who prefer more focused high-calorie daydreams, the BBQ and Pizza spinoffs deliver some obsession-worthy visuals in and of themselves.

Supermarket Sweep

For anyone who lacks the innate desire to go grocery shopping, the classic Supermarket Sweep gamifies the process in a way that manages to get me hungry every time. The concept of a no-budget grocery shopping excursion is straight from heaven itself, even if I’m more likely fantasizing about bakery desserts and the candy aisle as opposed to high-priced items to cook with. 

Cooking With Master Chefs

World-renowned chef Julia Child hosted the PBS series Cooking with Master Chefs, and authored the companion book of the same name, which saw her sharing meals prepared by such greats as Jacques Pépin, Emeril Lagasse, Susan Feniger and Mary Sue Milliken. Though it only lasted a single season, the meals cooked in the 16 episodes stand up to anything else worth dreaming about. 

Stanley Tucci: Searching For Italy

I’d tune into Stanley Tucci hosting a show about mop heads, such is his watchability, and the fact that CNN’s Searching for Italy combined the actor with some of the most gorgeous locations and dishes around the country is lagniappe. (Wait, that’s French.) Knowing I’ll likely never get to experience any of those meals myself, all I can do is live vicariously through my own memories of watching this show.  

Good Eats

A food series like few others, thanks to the informative and charismatic stylings of host Alton Brown, Good Eats doesn’t rely on haute cuisine to get viewers interested in the grub we’re shoving in our faces. While forced learning doesn’t work for me with literature and other art forms, Good Eats makes me feel both smarter and hungrier after watching, even if it doesn’t really add to my life to know where beef jerky originated.

Iron Chef America

While Iron Chef America didn’t set out to replicate everything its source series did with its Japanese masters, the Food Network spinoff did also boast Masaharu Morimoto, and similarly never failed to deliver dishes worth dreaming about, regardless of how simple or complicated the battles’ ingredients were. Seeing Chopped judges like Marc Forgione, Geoffrey Zakarian, and Alex Guarnaschelli on the competitive side was a plus beyond all the yumminess. 

The Great British Bake Off

As fans are well aware, much of the fun in watching The Great British Bake Off is all the feel-good vibes on display, but there have been more than enough delectable delights prepared on the UK series to make me forget all about the hosts’ witty rapport with the amateur chefs with all these different biscuits floating around my brain.

The Layover With Anthony Bourdain

The third of Anthony Bourdain’s food-embracing series following A Cook’s Tour and No Reservations, The Layover gave the esteemed chef the challenge/pleasure of spending the titular timeline in major cities all over the world, with the limitations of air travel layovers. From local haunts to more touristy destination meals, the show gave viewers plenty of edible visuals, and is possibly the best food show to watch while actually flying on an airplane. If only more than two seasons were produced. 

Knife Fight

Debuting on the now-defunct Esquire Network, Knife Fight was hosted by Top Chef Season 2 champ Ilan Hall, and went hard on culinary battles in front of rowdy crowds, with off-the-wall ingredient line-ups to challenge the all-star chefs. It’s not necessarily the lamb belly or sweetbreads that get me salivating, but the wide array of large-scale meats and seafood that get turned into late-night delights. 

MasterChef

The forever-outspoken Gordon Ramsay became a TV mainstay for being harsh in the kitchen, but MasterChef is the show to watch for anyone who wants to spend the evening dreaming about eating whatever meals put the biggest smiles on Ramsay and the other judges’ faces. 

Down Home With The Neelys

Regardless of anything that happened behind the scenes with Patrick and Gina Neely that led to their show ending, Food Network’s Down Home with the Neely’s is a go-to for fans setting up barbecue grills in their brains, with so many excellent meat dishes and sides prepared across its multiple seasons.

Is It Cake?

Before this bizarro Internet phenomenon and Netflix’s trend-inspired competition series Is It Cake?, I didn’t know it was possible to feel cravings for a beach ball or a piñata or the Mona Lisa, but Is It Cake? made that happen. 

Guilty Pleasures

This entry is kind of a no-brainer since it features a slew of Food Network greats and other celebs divulging their most desired dishes that might be viewed as shameful in any other context beyond celebrating glutinous urges. This is definitely the kind of show that will have you sitting up suddenly in the middle of the night, wondering why nobody sells bacon coffee cake in your immediate area.

And those are just some of the food shows that make me hungry! 

All the spoilers on the MasterChef Season 13 finale can be found throughout this piece. Don’t say I didn’t warn ya. 

The finale of MasterChef can be a tricky one when it hits the TV schedule. While the contestants get free rein to pursue their own progressive course menus, after a season of having to create food based around a certain challenge, I’d assume that freedom can be intimidating. As a huge fan of Gordon Ramsay's Fox shows, I've seen chefs have both confident and not-so-confident moments over the years, MasterChef Season 13 winner Grant Gillion recently revealed the moment he felt like he had the “W” in the bag. To be honest, though, I’m shocked he felt so confident. 

Look, I like Grant. After Kyle got a lot of the Midwest momentum early on in the season, Grant emerged as a real contender. While he had a couple of moments in a row where he was on the bottom, he got back into a good stride. While he didn’t dominate every single challenge thereafter, he was certainly a contender for the majority of the season, but even in the finale I wouldn’t call him completely dominant. 

Which is why I was so surprised about his comments in an interview about the September 2023 finale. In fact, Gillon recently told TV Guide he was confident he had it in the bag after the third course, noting, 

That's a bold statement but it did pay off. Grant's coffee ice cream in particular was cited as being outstanding during the dessert course; however, leading into that moment things were much closer. In fact, it seemed very clear as a viewer that Kennedy had pulled ahead after the first course. The entrees were all praise, including Jennifer's, and while Grant seemingly had the edge on the desserts, it wasn't completely clear to me as a viewer he was headed toward the win. 

Interestingly, Grant had the same take on how the courses played out that I did, with Kennedy taking an early lead (though Grant's pasta was fairly well-received) and the judges all liking Kennedy's rabbit, Jennifer's venison and Grant's pork loin medallions in the second course similarly. Yet, when it came to dessert, the MasterChef star saw his chance to edge ahead. 

It turns out, the Iowa native was right.

What Was The Moment That Gave Grant Gillon The Feeling He'd Won?

Again, it's not like I thought Grant somehow put up a sloppy performance and came out with a "w," I was just surprised to hear him say he felt pretty good about the end result before judges Gordon Ramsay, Joe Bastianich and Aáron Sánchez came to their final conclusions. However, in the same interview with TV Guide he noted there really was one single moment in which he felt like he'd hit the secret formula. 

Intriguingly, it really was the ice cream that was praised during that final round. One other point that really fell in the Midwest-based reality star's favor: Kennedy struggled more with dessert. If I remember correctly, Aáron compared her cake to a "bagel," and it was certainly not a compliment. Jennifer's dessert fared a little better, but it seemed as if Grant had handily won that course. 

To me, the surprise element comes from the fact the first course had (seemingly) been dominated by Kennedy and he'd dominated the third course, and while I certainly think he did enough to win, it's not like it came off like it was a blow out. It's so interesting to me to hear him later say he felt he had it in the bag. 

Honestly, it makes me wonder if some of the stuff that was left on the editing floor would have helped clarify Grant Gillon's feelings a bit further? The problems with MasterChef, am I right? Luckily, while the Fox series is over for Season 13, Gordon Ramsay certainly has plenty of shows coming to Fox this fall. 

If you’ve been a fan of MasterChef on the TV schedule for the last decade plus, you should know the series is not afraid to try new concepts, new twists, and occasionally even new themes for entire seasons. Season 13, for example, started out as a battle of regions (Midwest, South and so on and so forth) before splitting into an individual competition. Another recent season was an all-stars season subtitled “Back To Win” and featuring returning heavy hitters. Yet as the latest season of the hit show is coming to a close, I’m here to say that sometimes these twists are a mistake and I’d really like to see the series rectify this in a new season. 

So, let’s talk it out. And if you aren’t caught up on Season 13, I’ll only be getting into spoilers for about the first half of the season! 

The Twists On MasterChef Can Be A Huge Problem

MasterChef, like certain other reality shows that like to change the format often (here’s looking at you Survivor), is a mixed bag. Sometimes the show produces twists that I really enjoy. I for example, loved it when the show introduced the wall challenges in which a team of two cook on opposite sides of a tall obstacle wall and attempt  to produce the same dish. (Though even that challenge is divisive.) I did not love it during when an eliminated contestant was "reinstated" nor have I loved it when an entire team of two has gone home during the tag team challenge –which also happened during the wall challenge this season, sigh.  

As all this illustrates, the twists can be a bit of a mixed bag, and while I applaud the show for trying to keep things interesting for more than a decade, I wish sometimes the decision-making was a little more thoughtful and didn't feel like a twist for the sake of throwing in a twist. 

Let’s get back to that team of two going home during the tag team challenge, because I think it illustrates exactly how some of these random twists on MasterChef can be a huge problem. Back in Season 10, Michael Silverstein proved himself to be a formidable force in the kitchen. However, that was one of the seasons that Gordon Ramsay and co. ultimately decided that not just one person would be eliminated during the tag team season, but two. Typically whomever is immune tries to pair a weak player with a strong player hoping the lesser player will bring the stronger one down. So there's strategy involved.

In the case of Michael in Season 10, he was a frontrunner on the series very early on. That season, however, the twist was that Masterchef did the tag team challenge on the earlier side and chose to eliminate two contestants. Two contestants didn’t have to be eliminated, it was just a dumb decision the producers probably made because they thought it would make for good TV. Michael ended up coming in 15th place, a shocking result, after being unable to work well with Liz. 

It also is an example of how frequently good contestants end up going home early on this show. In fact, I'd argue that frequently the best contestant does not win the Fox competition series, which feels wild to me given there's no fan voting component and no one is getting kicked off an island by their peers. 

In the Michael example, when MasterChef signed him on for “Back To Win,” he was given the opportunity to compete exceedingly well, and while he didn’t win, he did make the Top 3, so he certainly went home early in that first season. I still feel he should have probably won Season 10, and I just think MasterChef sometimes thinks that so many twists keep the audience invested, when actually some of these twists just piss people off. 

The good news? This could lead to an opportunity moving forward.

I Just Complained About Twists, But Here’s What I’d Like To See A Future Season Do

There’s an argument to be had that ultimately if you are able to make it to the final three chefs on the series, you are given a chance to really showcase your talents and win on your own merits. First, however, you have to make it into the final three on the Fox series. Most of the time, several of the good chefs go home way early on the series and in challenges that just may not be in their wheelhouse. For example, Wayne almost went home during the first episode of Season 13 making risotto for State Fair food, but he was flukily saved by Kyle winning the immunity pin for his entire team. Wayne went on to have an incredible run, but without the immunity twist, he would have gone home literally first. 

I’m just saying: You may be a BBQ master, but cake can bring you down. You may be creative individually, but you may crack if you have to take a backseat to someone else’s ideas. You may be able to make a great plate for Aáron Sánchez, but feeding 101 diners may be your achilles heel. Good people go home early on MasterChef all the time.

It makes me wonder how many contestants got eliminated early, like before the Top 10, who might be strong contenders today? Maybe they’ve stepped up their game and learned some desserts. Maybe, like Michael Silverstein (who did already get a chance to come back) they simply made a mistake that cost them dearly.  

I think it would be really cool if the show handpicked some past contestants who were sent home too soon and gave them a second chance in the MasterChef kitchen. I know this is kind of what Back to Win was, but I’m talking about contestants who didn’t make it into the Top 10 who might have the chops to compete harder under different circumstances. Aáron, Joe and Gordon might even be able to have a say in picking the contestants and they could work in teams (sort of like the regional stuff this season) until further along in the competition when they could split out individually (also like the regional stuff this season). 

I just feel like there has to be a shortlist of people on the judges’ minds when it comes to what could have been with certain contestants, and I’d be interested to see a season of underdogs duke it out. You could even call it Second Chances. 

Look, MasterChef always has some element of chance given the immune contestants are encouraged to throw out challenges and some of the competitions are not necessarily in every single person’s wheelhouse, but you have to think there are myriad names out there who, under the right circumstances, could have ended up first or third or sixth instead of fourteenth. I’d like to see those individuals back on TV one more time… but boy oh boy, can you imagine going home first on a season of second chances? 

For years, MasterChef has operated in the U.S. as a classic Gordon Ramsay-led cooking competition tasked with crowning the best of the best out of a talented group of cooks. Fans have watched the show innocently, no doubt unaware they could be getting hit with some rather phallic imagery. Well, the jig may be up, because some TikTok posts are more than a little suggestive that an international version of show might be deliberately making on-camera food look like male genitalia. 

It sounds completely bonkers, but there is compelling evidence to consider, thanks to TikTok user @FlyZapper. Check out Exhibit A below, which shows footage of the UK’s MasterChef: The Professionals and some suspicious-looking food placement below: 

Right off the bat, it’s easy to believe this theory is legit based on the placement of two eggs and a piece of rhubarb. Those three things were not placed there like they were just dropped by a chef rushing about their business, or just randomly arranged. The eggs have just enough space between them for that rhubarb to slide out in front, and that looks like a pretty deliberate move.

The first video may not be damning to some readers, but hey, a one-time incident is hardly a conspiracy, right? Well, buckle up because there is a second video from MasterChef: The Professionals that showcases more imagery that looks even more like male genitalia. Take a look at the video below, and keep an eye out for two limes and a bottle: 

Now, an arrangement of food is pretty subtle, because otherwise the MPAA might have a problem with it. I feel like this is some cheeky joke straight out of an Austin Powers movie. Whether it’s part of the creative direction of MasterChef: The Professionals or not, it definitely feels like someone responsible for placing food is deliberately trying to make it look like there’s a penis hidden in the scene. 

Two videos might be enough for some to feel like this is no longer a conspiracy. A third video would just be the icing on the cake at this point, right? Well, unfortunately, the inquisitive TikToker wasn’t able to find another subliminal schlong so far, but did find two precariously placed vegetables that definitely could resemble breasts: 

At this point, it feels like MasterChef: The Professionals is hiding more nude imagery in their show than an animated Disney movie. The real question, though, is whether or not this trend has reached the United States or has yet to catch on. Honestly, I’m tempted to bust out my Hulu subscription and do a deep dive to find out, though I’d be absolutely fine if another TikTok user wanted to tag in and do that leg work for me. 

MasterChef isn’t releasing any new episodes currently, so anyone hoping to look for hidden imagery live will have to wait until Season 13 gets an official date on our 2023 TV schedule. In the meantime, feel free to check out any of the past seasons on streaming and see what weird hidden surprises might be in the U.S. version. 

Gordon Ramsay has become a Fox network super star. He’s been creating shows with the network for almost two decades and the partnership seems stronger than ever. His first Fox TV show, Hell’s Kitchen, has already aired 20 seasons, and been renewed through Season 22. Fox and Gordon Ramsay have been a successful partnership that hopefully doesn’t end anytime soon.

In 2022, his latest Fox TV series, Next Level Chef, premiered, and I loved it, flaws and all. It just basically confirmed what I’ve always known: I’m obsessed with Gordon Ramsay TV shows. If Gordon Ramsay’s name is attached to a TV show, I’ll be streaming it on Tubi or Hulu once it's available. There is a reason why Gordon Ramsay and Fox continue to make great TV shows and I keep watching them, they're great entertainment. Here’s why I think these shows are must-watch television and why I can’t stop watching them. 

You Never Know What Gordon Ramsay You're Going To Get

Gordon Ramsay is most famously known for yelling at people, throwing stuff, and being a generally terrifying boss. He got this reputation because of his Hell’s Kitchen persona. However, if you watch enough Gordon Ramsay TV shows, then you know Yelling Gordon isn’t the only side he shows on television. He’s often kind and patient with the contestants on MasterChef Junior. He’s also more of a mentor on MasterChef than he is an angry boss. Even on Hell’s Kitchen, he’s calmed down a lot, and he’s pretty nice to the contestants that he sees working hard and learning.

There being so many Gordon Ramsay TV shows means that fans get to see multiple sides of him across all the shows. It’s also just fun as a viewer to not know which Gordon will come out in any given episode. He could be fun and goofy one minute, and then screaming at someone to get out of his kitchen the next moment. 

It Feels Like There Is Always A New Show Or Season Available To Watch

After Next Level Chef wrapped up its first season, I didn’t get a chance to miss it, because MasterChef Junior premiered its new season not so long after the other show ended. This is a pattern with Gordon Ramsay's TV shows. Once one ends, another one will soon premiere. You rarely get a chance to miss the man.

Additionally, Hulu and Tubi both have plenty of his Fox TV series to stream, so if you have missed one or skipped a few seasons, you can still find plenty to binge on during the rare occasions when Fox isn’t airing a new season of a Gordon Ramsay cooking show.

The Stories Of The Contestants Or Featured Restaurants

I’ll watch any show with Gordon Ramsay’s name attached, but mainly because I can rely on him to produce interesting and entertaining cooking competition shows. In general, I love cooking TV shows, but they are not all created equal. One thing many Gordon Ramsay cooking shows do very well is making you care about the contestants. For weeks, we watch as these contestants improve, learn, and use their hearts and minds to produce standout dishes.

You genuinely care when the single mom from Nebraska makes it to the end and takes home the title. You tear up when a blind chef beats the odds and wins the MasterChef title. You cheer so loud when one of your favorite contestants wins Hell’s Kitchen. These TV shows take you on a journey with these contestants, which makes the end results so much more meaningful or infuriating — depending on how it all ends. With so many seasons of Gordon Ramsay shows, you also get to take these emotional and frustrating journeys a lot. 

There Is A Gordon Ramsay Fox TV Show For Every Type Of Cooking Show Fan

The thing that makes Gordon Ramsay’s Fox TV shows easy to continuously watch is that they’re not just repeats of each other. Hell’s Kitchen is about rookie chefs trying to prove they have what it takes to manage major restaurants, MasterChef and its spin-offs are about homecooks trying to prove they have the same skills as professional chefs, Gordon Ramsay’s 24 Hours to Hell and Back chronicles Gordon revamping a failing restaurant in 24-hours, and the list goes on and on.

These shows have some overlap, but they’re varied enough to appeal to cooking competition fans, restaurant makeover show fans, and inspiring cooking show fans. The only cooking show market that Fox and the chef haven’t cornered is instructional cooking shows--though he does post plenty of instructional videos on his official Youtube page. Maybe we’ll get a "how to cook with Gordon Ramsay" TV show on Fox one day. 

Gordon Ramsay's Chemistry With The Other Judges

Gordon Ramsay has had guest judges and series regular judges who are world renowned chefs and bakers. A few of the judges his fans have seen appear with him on these TV shows are Nyesha Arrington, Richard Blais, Christina Tosi, Graham Elliot, Joe Bastianich, and Aarón Sánchez. Ramsay brings a different dynamic with whichever chefs he works with on his TV shows.

He could be competitive, friendly, funny, or whatever mood matches the show’s tone. If you get bored with seeing Gordon all the time, judges like Arrington and Blais bring a freshness that gives a show like Next Level Chef some of the uniqueness that’s needed to keep these Gordon Ramsay shows from becoming bland.

The Food We Get To See Made

Gordon Ramsay’s daughter may not be a huge fan of his cooking, but I would love to try it. I would love to try many of the dishes featured on MasterChef and other Gordon Ramsay cooking shows because they often look and sound delicious. Luckily for fans of shows like MasterChef, there is often a cookbook to learn how to make some of the dishes, especially the ones made by the each season's winners.

These shows do a great job of making me, and others, want to try these dishes and hunt out Gordon Ramsay's restaurants. The TV shows definitely make sure that the TV dishes appeal to all our five senses even without having the meals in the room with us as we watch.

I am someone who will probably watch Gordon Ramsay TV shows until he retires from American TV. Hopefully, this never happens, because I can’t wait for Hell’s Kitchen Season 43 and MasterChef Season 75.

However, one thing I’ve learned that I love is actually cooking shows - specifically, cooking competitions.

There’s just something about the competitiveness of contestants and some of the amazing (or not so amazing) food items they make, to the prizes at the very end - these cooking competitions always seem to capture my eye, and have also made me want to be a better cook. From classics like Hell’s Kitchen and Top Chef, to newer ones like Sugar Rush and Nailed It!, these are some of the best cooking competition shows that you can stream right now if you’re looking for some good TV and some good food.

Hell’s Kitchen (Hulu)

In this popular cooking competition show, several chefs of various levels compete on the red or blue team in Hell’s Kitchen, cooking for celebrity chef Gordan Ramsey. The chefs are eliminated challenge by challenge, until one is crowned with a massive cash prize, and the cooking opportunity of a lifetime.

This has always been my favorite cooking competition show. There’s just something about it, which explains why it’s been running for 20 seasons now. From the very creative challenges, to the chemistry between contestants, to the memes that Gordan Ramsey’s anger can produce, you can never quite beat it. Now, where is the lamb sauce?!

Halloween Wars (Discovery+)

Food Network has come out with some awesome cooking competition shows, and Halloween Wars is one of the best. Five teams are made up of cake sculptures, sugar artists, and pumpkin carvers, who are pitted against each other to produce the ultimate Halloween display and win a cash prize of $50,000.

Look, I freaking love Halloween. I love watching the best horror movies, I adore the Halloween franchise, I will spend hours baking Halloween treats when this time of year comes around, so you know I had to include a great show like this. What really makes this one stand out is the inclusion of professional pumpkin carvers. You never really think of them as someone who could be on a food competition show, but they are actually phenomenal, and give this holiday-themed show a charm that none of the others have.

Sugar Rush (Netflix)

Hosted by Candace Nelson, a co-founder of Sprinkles Cupcakes, Sugar Rush features four professional teams of two, competing in a baking competition to win a prize of $10,000, during three rounds - cupcakes, confections, and cakes.

Sugar Rush is certainly a standard cooking competition show. I personally don’t think that there’s any crazy razzle dazzle that’s added to it. But, what I really love about Sugar Rush are the creations that these bakers come up with. They are truly outstanding, with so much personality and thought put into everything, from even the tiniest cupcake to their biggest cakes. It’s like art but on another level, because sometimes you can’t even believe that some of their things are made with food. They’re all super talented.

Guy’s Grocery Games (Discovery+)

Hosted by chef Guy Fieri, Guy’s Grocery Games features four chefs competing in a three-round elimination contest, cooking good with ingredients found at a grocery store, while Fieri poses unusual challenges for them. The winning chef of each episode can earn up to $20,000.

What I like about Guy’s Grocery Games the most is definitely the host himself, Guy Fieri. He has such a creative mind which makes these challenges that he gives these chefs so fun. From certain price limits to weight limits, to crazy dishes and food that chefs can’t even touch, his challenges are always entertaining.

Top Chef (Peacock)

In this classic cooking competition, Top Chef features chefs competing against each other in many culinary challenges, who are then judged by a panel of professional chefs and other notables from the food and wine industry, with a contestant (or more) getting eliminated each episode.

Top Chef is an excellent example of what a reality cooking competition should look like. Amazing food, awesome contestants, valuable feedback from the judges - and the guest judges themselves are amazing. We’re talking about big stars in the culinary world, like Wolfgang Puck, Emeril Lagasse, Graham Elliot and many others. There’s a reason why there are so many spin offs of this show after many years on the air. It’s truly awesome.

Iron Chef America (Discovery+)

In this adaptation of the Japanese show of the same name, Iron Chef America features a new competitor each episode, who is competing against one of the resident “Iron Chefs” in a one-hour long cook-off based on secret ingredients, or a theme, or other big surprises.

I think what I like about Iron Chef America is that it doesn’t hold itself back from being just a standard cooking competition. Instead of putting amateur cooks up against one another, they are putting regular people up against some of the best chefs in the world. It creates this air of suspense to see if someone is actually going to beat them, out-flavor them, or do anything that might get them to be the next Iron Chef. Alton Brown is an incredible host, and really pushes along the competition with charisma and style - and some great cooking skills to boot.

Masterchef (Hulu)

Another Gordon Ramsey-created project, Masterchef collects several talented unknown chefs in a long competition to see who is going to become the next Masterchef, win a large cash prize, and possibly the culinary chance of a lifetime, going through crazy challenges, intense cookoffs, and many more moments of insanity.

Masterchef is another show that I personally relate to a little more than some of the others on here, because it usually features regular people. While shows like Hell’s Kitchen or Iron Chef often feature professionals in the business, Masterchef is stay at home mothers, firefighters, dog trainers - just regular people who have a true passion for cooking. The way they interact with food reminds me of Jon Favreau’s film, Chef, because they truly love the culinary world, and want to make it big, and this might be the best chance for them.

Chopped (Discovery+)

In this popular series, Chopped features four chefs, who are put up against each other as they compete for a chance to win $10,000.

Hosted by Ted Allen, Chopped is a great show because of its one big twist - every single competition, each food item has strange ingredients, ones that would never really go with anything. It’s up to the cooks to somehow make these weird food items work, and to advance into the next round. Some of these things are so interesting and creative, it makes me want to try them at home, but they have more talent in one of their fingers than I do in my whole entire body, so I’ll leave the cooking to them.

In this popular British baking competition, The Great British Baking Show follows a group of accomplished bakers who are competing against each other in a series of challenges, attempting to impress a group of judges with their baking creations, and trying not to get eliminated to reach the final round.

I feel like everyone has heard of The Great British Baking Show at least once. From the charismatic contestants to the hilarious judges to some of the funny moments that come out of this show, The Great British Baking Show will not only impress you with some of these people’s baking skills, but will make you smile and laugh.

Nailed It! (Netflix)

Last but not least, we take a look at Nailed It! This popular Netflix original show features several ametuer bakers who are tasked with recreating insanely hard and intricate baking designs in a timed bake-off, and whoever nailed the design the best wins a cash prize after two rounds.

This one is definitely the most relatable show for a reason. We all wish we had the baking skills but in reality, most of our creations would probably turn out like these contestants' do - and that’s totally okay, because it’s hilarious. Nicole Byer (who was actually just in the Vivo voice cast) hosts and slays every episode with funny bits and hilarious moments, and the rest of the show is entertaining and full of laugh-out-loud worthy baking creations. Truly, one of the best shows on Netflix.

God, talking about all these cooking competition shows has made me hungry. While I go and make a sandwich, you decide which show you want to watch. No matter what you pick, you will be entertained and rooting on the contestants just as I have - and probably be hungry afterward, as well.

The newest season of MasterChef on Fox, dubbed MasterChef: Legends, is in full swing with the top 15 home cooks in America preparing to begin the battle to win the title of the next MasterChef. The season has already brought in professional cooking legends Emeril Lagasse, Curtis Stone, and most recently Paula Deen, and now Chef Morimoto is on the way as guest judge for an episode all about monkfish. Facing the challenge of cooking a fish dish like monkfish is vegan contestant Michael Newman, and a new episode clip showcases Michael’s choice for how he's cooking this week, which includes tasting the fish.

Michael’s explanations about what he’s doing professionally and with the monkfish raise some questions for Chef Morimoto, so check out the exclusive clip from the June 23 episode of MasterChef: Legends on Fox!

In the clip, Michael Newman reveals that he’s cooking up breadcrumb and Parmesan-crusted monkfish, lemon garlic kale, and seasoned rice, and I’m guessing that a whole lot of viewers will be ready to taste his dish based on the description alone. Gordon Ramsay agrees that it sounds good, then notes that Michael is vegan making a fish dish including cheese, to Morimoto’s surprise, but Michael confirms that he will “have to taste it.” Ramsay reiterated that Michael should taste “everything” before moving on.

Whether or not Michael Newman has what it takes to make a monkfish dish that will impress the judges panel comprised of Gordon Ramsay, Aarón Sánchez, and Joe Bastianich plus guest judge Morimoto remains to be seen in this Wednesday’s episode of MasterChef: Legends, but Michael was clear that his vegan lifestyle won’t stop him from tasting his dish despite the fish and dairy when the time comes.

Of course, as Michael Newman said, he is a “lifestyle and relationship coach” who tries to use food as “a common ground” and get people to “connect through food,” which presumably involves working with people who don’t exclusively eat vegan dishes. Plus, there’s no advancing on a show like MasterChef: Legends without the contestants pushing themselves above and beyond.

After all, this is the season of legends! Beating the competition requires an open mind toward dishes the contestants don’t already know or cook regularly, and Michael is clearly ready to taste what he makes to guarantee the best finished product despite his veganism usually meaning no fish. But will it be enough to come out on top of the other talented chefs who made it past the first round?

Find out with the next new episode of MasterChef: Legends on Wednesday, June 23 at 8 p.m. ET on Fox. Iron Chef icon and Michelin Star winner Chef Morimoto certainly has the expertise to judge which of the monkfish dishes is good enough for contestants to move forward. Plus, Gordon Ramsay is known for being blunt (among other things) when it comes to elements of dishes that don’t work, so hopefully Michael Newman and the rest have the nerves of steel to keep their cool and deliver the best dishes they possibly can on MasterChef: Legends!

You read that headline right. Gordon Ramsay, king of the kitchen, chief of the stars, righter of cooking wrongs, falls short of his wife’s skills. Ramsay has made an amazing career out of being a hard-ass in the kitchen, creating and leading a number of shows such as Hell’s Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares, Masterchef, and a number of spinoffs. An impressive resume hasn’t stopped his oldest daughter, Matilda Ramsay, from proclaiming a preference to her mother’s cooking, though.

Listen, Gordon Ramsay is kitchen GOALS. How else could he make a living degrading and screaming at would-be chefs? He is probably the only person on Earth who can speak to another human the way he does and not be considered a complete jerk, and that’s because people all over the world beg him to do it.

He’s not all bark, though. Ever since the spinoff of Masterchef, Masterchef Junior aired we have come to know a much softer side of the TV personality. It became very clear that he reserved his harsh character traits for adults who, in his opinion, should know better and transformed into a regular teddy bear when interacting with children. It’s this sugar and spice mix making up Gordon Ramsay that has helped transform him into an endearing household name.

Fans of the chief are no stranger to his own children, either. Longtime fans have even seen his children grow up in his own personal kitchen. Gordon Ramsay’s social media is a collage of his professional and personal life: teasers for upcoming and current projects, latest kitchen creations, and posts of his children are all on rotation.

With Gordon Ramsay’s talent for teaching the art of cooking and his family values, there is no denying his kids must be proficient in the kitchen themselves. In fact, Matilda Ramsay has her cooking aspirations and has appeared on her own and with her father on numerous occasions to advance her own career.

How far does the Ramsay family’s talent in the kitchen go? If we are to give credence to Matilda’s claims, we know there is at least one more Master Chef in the family: Mama Ramsay. Although not as well known as her husband, Tana Ramsay has authored a number of cook books and has appeared as a cooking professional on a number of programs.

All we know for sure is that the Ramsay house is the place to be for breakfast, lunch, dinner, holidays, always, and forever no matter who is cooking.

Television viewers have long maintained a love affair with food. Cooking shows foster our creativity, capture our culinary imaginations, and simply provide some of the best entertainment around. With that in mind, arguably no TV chef has mastered the art of the cooking show quite like the foul-mouthed Gordon Ramsay. Over the course of the last decade, Ramsay has become television's resident "bad boy" chef, and he has a new show coming next year that will use that persona to full effect.

We've just learned that Gordon Ramsay has teamed up with FOX to bring a brand new cooking show to television. Titled The F Word, based upon Ramsay's UK based cooking show of the same name, the series will combine game show and variety show elements into a weekly event. Every episode will follow Ramsay as he pits contestants against each other to prepare food for high profile guests. Expect plenty of cursing and screaming along the way.

Of course, Gordon Ramsay is not stranger to the realm of television at this point. As one of the biggest celebrity chefs in the entire world, he has made a name for himself by bringing a larger than life kitchen persona to the small screen. From Hell's Kitchen, to MasterChef, to Kitchen Nightmares, the man has been a constant television fixture for years, and it looks like The F Word will combine all of the best elements of his persona into one awesome series.

However, there's one aspect of The F Word that sets it apart from Gordon Ramsay's previous television outings -- it's going to be a live series. By bringing the celebrity chef into the realm of live television, FOX has seemingly created an environment in which anything can happen at any moment. In fact, we have a feeling that the network is banking on that.

Although we still don't know too much about The F Word, we're beyond excited to see what happens when Gordon Ramsay once again brings his trademark edge and sense of humor to television. It will all be worth it if he gets this furious while filming the show:

The U.S. verson of Masterchef has aired on Fox for several years now. While Gordon Ramsay has been a constant on the reality competition series, a lot of the other judges have changed out over time. Christina Tosi joined the show as a judge during Season 6, and recently, Gordon Ramsay revealed that his favorite moment while filming the TV series actually featured the female Masterchef judge. Here's what he had to say:

I can't say that I've seen every episode of Masterchef that has aired, but I have seen quite a few---especially since Tosi joined the series--and I honestly don't remember this ever happening.Gordon Ramsay's comments in his most recent AMA make me wonder whether this was footage that never made the show or whether this is footage we will actually see in an upcoming episode of Masterchef. After all, Masterchef is currently airing its seventh season on Fox. In addition, the show has already been renewed for Season 8, but I'm presuming that set of episodes hasn't started filming, yet, as casting has just commenced.

Still, while we know Christina Tosi rocks out as a pastry chef, I've yet to see evidence of her athletic prowess. In fact, we're more likely to catch moments like this during the Fox series:

Along with certain info about Masterchef, Ramsay also spoke out about the dishes people need to know how to cook, why he does sometimes use the microwave, and why he's incredibly grateful to be able to do all of the wonderful things he gets to do on TV and in the restaurant world. Reality TV programs are not being produced on network TV at quite the same rate they used to, but there are still plenty of reality programs with solid audiences. Unfortunately, just because a series has an audience doesn’t mean that the show’s judges will always want to stick around. This weekend we learned Masterchef and Masterchef Junior will be losing longtime judge Graham Elliot.

Fox is currently gearing up for the fourth season of Masterchef Junior and the good news is that Graham Elliot will be around for those episodes (which makes sense, as these shows film in advance). However, this weekend Fox announced that Elliot will be departing following the upcoming season of the kid-oriented competition. Not only will he be out on Masterchef Junior after the upcoming competition, he’ll be out on Masterchef, as well. The news comes just a short time after former judge Joe Bastianich left the series toward the end of last year. Bastianich was replaced by pastry chef Christina Tosi.

There’s no word on who will replace the longtime judge on both shows, but it seems as if the decision is pretty final, which is very much unlike what has happened on other competition shows including The Voice and Dancing with the Stars. In fact, Dancing with the Stars judge Len Goodman left the American version of the show for one season. Then, it was recently announced that he’ll be back for Season 22 of the ABC competition series. Elliot’s departure seems way less open-ended. In fact, THR reports that a new judge will be announced to replace Graham Elliot sometime in 2016.

The fourth season of Masterchef Junior is scheduled to premiere on January 8 at 8 p.m. ET on Fox. Elliot is already set to be a part of those episodes, but it looks like he won’t be a part of the upcoming special related to the franchise that Fox has in the works for January.

On Monday, January 18, other judges Gordon Ramsay and Christina Tosi are inviting celebrities into the Masterchef kitchen for Masterchef Celebrity Showdown, which will feauture celebs and former winners battling it out. Gigi Hadid will compete against Devon Windsor, Terry Crews and Rebecca Crews will compete against Boris Kodjoe and Nicole Ari Parker, Kaitlin Doubleday will compete against Ta’Rhonda Jones and Masterchef winners will compete against Masterchef Junior contestants. It should be a pretty wild romp, despite the lack of Graham Elliot.

Fall TV Schedule: When The Fall 2015 TV Shows Will Air

Fox is the fourth of the five major networks to announce their Fall 2013 premiere schedule, and for the network that recently brought us American Idol, there's a lot of X Factor on the menu. Fortunately for those who aren't looking for more singing, there are some returning dramas and comedies, and some promising looking new programs joining the lineup later in September.

Fox's fall schedule begins September 11 with the returns of The X Factor and Masterchef. Things get a bit more scripted the following week when Bones returns, followed by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman's new drama Sleepy Hollow. And it looks like Fox is getting the jump on NBC and CBS in debuting the their new comedy line-up a week ahead of premiere week (Sept. 22), with a September 17 start-date for Dads, Brooklyn Nine-NIne, New Girl and The Mindy Project. In fact, Fox has almost nothing premiering during the week of September 22, excluding Masterchef Junior, which is set up on Friday, September 27, ahead of an encore episode of Sleepy Hollow.

It's interesting that Fox is pushing Almost Human off to November and giving Sleepy Hollow such an early start, mainly considering how suited Sleepy Hollow would be for a Halloween-season debut. Then again, the series likely stands to gain a bit more traction with an early start, which may be the intention. Comedy series Enlisted is also coming in late in the game, with a November 8 debut.

Yet to be added to the schedule and presumably joining the line-up during midseason are Rake, Surviving Jack, Us & Them and M. Night Shyamalan's Wayward Pines limited series.

You know what Fox needs? Another Gordon Ramsay cooking show! Ok, not really, but it's getting one, and it actually sounds like it could be good. The title should clue you in to what this show is all about. Junior Masterchef is a new culinary competition series that has cooking enthusiasts between the ages of eight and thirteen attempting to show off their skills in the kitchen. News of this series order comes with word that Masterchef has been renewed for two more seasons. And Hell's Kitchen has been renewed for another season.

There certainly won't be any less Ramsay on Fox anytime soon. The celebrity chef has secured a new multi-year deal with the network. Included in that is Junior Masterchef, which is based on the British format, and will presumably work similar to Masterchef in having amateur cooks competing with one another. I can definitely see that working for a TV show, as I expect there are some great undiscovered kid cooks out there just waiting for a chance in the spotlight. Ramsay's known for his tough criticism, but there's a lot less yelling on Masterchef than what we might hear on Hell's Kitchen, or even Kitchen Nightmares, so I think the kids shouldn't have cause to worry there.

There's no mention of casting for the series, but if you know a kid with the kitchen chops to compete, you might try keeping an eye on Fox's casting page for updates.

The fourth season of the grownup version of Masterchef is set to debut on May 22. And now we know there are two more seasons lined up after that. As for Hell's Kitchen, the series is currently amidst its eleventh season, and it looks like it'll be back for a twelfth.

With Junior Masterchef joining Fox at some point in the 2013-2014 season, that puts five Gordon Ramsay TV shows on Fox. Junior Masterchef joins Masterchef, Hotel Hell, Hell's Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares.

"Hey ya'll!" Tonight's episode of Masterchef features a special guest. Celebrity chef Paula Deen will be visiting the culinary competition series. In anticipation of tonight's episode, we have a clip, which features the big reveal of Deen, who happens to be among the contents of this week's mystery box.

Known for her southern style of cooking, it sounds like Deen's the perfect special guest for tonight's episode, which will have the amateur cooks preparing southnern-inspired dishes for the mystery box challenge. The video below shows the remaining contestants being surprised by Deen's appearance.

As mentioned in the description below, the theme will go from southern to Japanese as the contestants will later be teamed up in pairs to prepare a Japanese dish. Should be interesting to see how everyone works together!

For me, there’s only one dance competition worth counting down to each year, and it airs on Fox. So You Think You Can Dance is actually one of two reasons I love Fox in the summer. Hell’s Kitchen is the other. Both unscripted series were included on Fox’s 2012 Summer Premiere Date schedule.

Fox has Season 9 of So You Think You Can Dance set for a two-hour premiere on Thursday, May 24, after which it moves to its regular time-period on Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. (beginning May 30). Cat Deeley is set to return as host, with judges Nicel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy also returning. Guest judges will once again appear on the show as the summer dance competition gets going.

Meanwhile, a group of people of varying culinary backgrounds will compete against one another in Season 10 of Hell’s Kitchen when it premieres Tuesday, May 29. Season 3 of the other Fox summer cooking competition Masterchef will premiere on the same night immediately afterward. And if that double-dose of Gordon Ramsay isn’t enough for you, Fox is also set to premiere Hotel Hell, an unscripted series that will have Ramsay traveling around the country, visiting awful inns and bad bed & breakfasts in the hopes of turning them around. It sounds like the lodging version of Kitchen Nightmares. More information on that one is posted below the schedule.

As you may have noticed, there are only a handful of series listed. Fox says there’s additional summer premiere date information to be announced. Meanwhile, here’s Fox’s description for Hotel Hell, as promised...

Fox announced their Summer 2011 schedule, which includes the return of some popular unscripted series. While Fox’s summer line-up doesn’t appear to include any new shows, dance and culinary enthusiasts will be happy to see So You Think You Can Dance, Masterchef and Hell’s Kitchen on the schedule.

Fox’s popular dance competition series So You Think You Can Dance will kick off it’s eighth season with a two-hour premiere on Thursday, May 26th. A new set of aspiring restaurateurs will attempt to impress Gordon Ramsay when Hell’s Kitchen premieres its new season on July 19th. And Season 2 of the culinary competition Masterchef will premiere on June 6th.
