When we think of Friends, the names Ross, Rachel, Joey, Phoebe, Chandler and Monica likely come to mind. Yet devoted fans will also remember the stellar cast of recurring characters that rounded out the iconic sitcom. Over its 10-season run, the show introduced some great acquaintances, lovers, and relatives of the core crew, including Morgan Fairchild's Nora Bing. Fairchild would have briefly first crossed paths with the elder Perry on Flamingo Road in the early ‘80s but may have really gotten to know the George Of The Jungle actor in 1984 when the two worked together on the TV show Paper Dolls. That show was immediately followed up by Season 5 of Falcon Crest in 1985, in which Perry played Sheriff Floyd Gilmore.

Presumably, these are the times Perry was hanging out with his dad and future TV mom on set. At the time, the younger Perry would have been 15 and 16 years old, so it’s no wonder he chose to follow in his father’s footsteps, after spending his formidable teen years on a TV set.

I will say, this background info makes a lot of sense now. Nora Bing may not have been the perfect mother, but Morgan Fairchild was the perfect Nora Bing. From the jump, Chandler and Nora have seemingly easy comedic chemistry as a mother son duo and, now, we know why.

Over the years, Morgan Fairchild has spoken fondly of Matthew Perry and previously even talked about how the show's theme song deeply resonated with the late actor. Kenneth Iwamasa is one of five people who was convicted over the death of Matthew Perry, and these victim impact statements were read in court presumably in hopes of a severe sentencing. Madeline also took umbrage with his behavior during the funeral, tarnishing their "final memories of saying goodbye.”

The late actor's other sister Caitlin Morrison also issued her own statement, where she revealed that the family will never know whether or not Perry's deadly use of ketamine was "by accident" or not. An excerpt from her letter reads:

Clearly the years that have passed since Matthew Perry's death have not made the situation any less painful for his family. Their victim impact statements show just how much hurt and anger are still felt, and why they're hoping that justice is serviced for those who were convicted, especially Iwamasa. We'll just have to see how sentencing ultimately plays out.

Matthew Perry's Friends co-stars were concerned about a potential relapse ahead of his passing, something that was also seemingly felt by his mother. Later on in the letter Morrison took further aim at her son's assistant, writing:

She certainly didn't mince words, and only time will tell how Kenneth Iwamasa's sentencing will ultimately shake out. Regardless, it's clear how much pain Suzanne Morrison is in years after her famous son's death.

When I think of Friends, I prefer to think of all the good things that make it one of the best sitcoms of all time — Chandler’s hilarious jokes, Phoebe’s most offbeat moments, Joey’s ever-growing food obsession, etc. However, for the sitcom’s six principal actors, the price of such monumental fame could be hard to deal with — particularly for Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc.

We all know about Matthew Perry’s struggles with addiction that ultimately led to his death in 2023 at age 54. He had opened up about his dark times in his memoir Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, which came out almost exactly one year before a ketamine overdose caused him to drown in his hot tub.

The Chandler Bing actor reflected on how bad his addiction was and how it could be tracked by his weight fluctuations throughout Friends’ 10 seasons. He said one time Jennifer Aniston even confronted him about his drinking, and Maggie Wheeler — who played Chandler’s ex-girlfriend Janice — said he talked to her about his struggles. The year that Friends ended, LeBlanc’s daughter was born, but within the first year, she began having seizures and was diagnosed with a form of dysplasia. Then he and his wife Melissa McKnight divorced in 2006.

Before, this was simply just one last funny line from Chandler Bing, but now I’m always going to see its double meaning — at that point during filming there actually was nowhere for them to go, because the Central Perk set had already been torn down.

Friends co-creator Marta Kauffman confirmed as much in the DVD commentary for “The Last One,” when she talked about the heartwrenching process of closing out a decade-long sitcom. Kauffman said:

During the final Central Perk scene, Marta Kaffuman said they had to stop several times because people were crying. Executive producer Kevin Bright said it wasn’t until David Schwimmer pointed out that it was the last time they’d be on the set together that the tears started to flow. Even after they wrapped the scene (and the set), nobody wanted to leave, Kauffman said:

That’s heartbreaking enough to read as a fan, so I can only imagine what it was like for the cast and crew who’d spent 10 years of their lives there. Luckily for us, though, Central Perk will always exist via seemingly constant cable reruns and the ability to stream all 10 seasons — plus the 2021 reunion special — with an HBO Max subscription.

Still, even though I’m sure that line wasn’t written to be a secret reference to the Central Perk set, I’m afraid I’ll never be able to hear Chandler’s final line without thinking about it that way.

As someone who’s seen every Friends episode 2.7 billion times, it’s hard to process the fact that Lisa Kudrow and her co-stars haven’t watched the show — she and Courteney Cox have said they don’t remember most of the episodes — but it does make sense. That was their job, not their escape like Friends is for so many of us.

However, watching the show back after Matthew Perry died allowed the actress to remember things like how hard he made them all laugh when they filmed that “nightmare” opening scene in the fountain. It even helped Lisa Kudrow come to terms with her own character, with Phoebe’s story bringing her to tears.

Perry’s life ended in tragic fashion, as the actor was ruled to have drowned in his hot tub after a ketamine overdose, but he worked hard when he was alive to help others who were also struggling with addiction. As far as Jennifer Aniston is concerned, that’s all we’re going to get as far as a revival or reboot. She said since Matthew Perry’s death in 2022, there is no world where a sequel or remake could happen, giving a blunt, six-word response:

It’s tough to think that the six of them could never share the stage again, even if they wanted to, since the man who had the funniest lines as Chandler Bing drowned in his hot tub at age 54 after taking a large amount of ketamine.

However, even before Matthew Perry’s untimely death, the idea of a reboot or revival was shot down, and Courteney Cox also said the Friends cast wasn’t likely to do another reunion.

Friends fans will just have to settle for the glorious videos and photos the actors share when the besties do get together, as well as the knowledge that the actors have taken the words of their iconic theme song to heart and will always be there for each other.

Both the cast and fans have celebrated more than 30 years of Friends. Largely, that’s thanks to the series greatly influencing what TV friendship goals– whether platonic, romantic or friends-to-lovers–look like. Between the six, each relationship is as unique and special as the last, and also stands true of the show’s couples. Case and point: Chandler’s proposed storyline of cheating on Monica wouldn’t have equated Ross and Rachel's "on a break" arc, so, let’s dive into it.

The deep-cut trivia of Season 6’s planned script centered around Chandler Bing’s jealousy of Monica Gellar going out to lunch with ex-Richard Burke (Tom Selleck). Which surfaced after the death of Matthew Perry, through an interview with actor Lisa Cash, who was to play the other woman. She shared that Matthew Perry axed the cheating idea because he feared it would alter the show, and its fans' perception too much.

Now, Cash has revealed to NBC News why the late actor was spot on with the nixing. Agreeing with Perry’s stance on the alternate beat, she said if it had aired, it’d be entirely different from the longstanding R&R break discourse. In her explanation, she highlights that the status of the respective couples were in completely contrasting places and would’ve elicited a wildly different outcome, saying:

I agree with both of them. Regardless of where you lie between the break debate, there’s more gray area to maneuver in Ross’ decision. If Perry hadn’t convinced the writers to cut Chandler’s active cheating on Monica, while they were clearly together, the series may have taken a hard left turn and never bounced back.

And even for the some fans who disliked Chandler and Monica’s courtship, I believe the inevitable breakup would’ve altered too much. With the six being so interconnected, it would’ve bled into each dynamic with vast outcomes. And likely, could’ve led to Chandler being exiled, or cast as a villain. So, I’m personally glad that Lisa Cash, who was originally scripted to be a hotel employee who sleeps with Bing, was rerouted to be Ross and Rachel’s flight attendant.

If the bomb dropping Chandler Bing cheating scandal had been pulled off, who knows what kind of butterfly effect it absolutely would’ve had in television and movies, including this year’s ​2025 TV calendar. It certainly wouldn’t have read as ambiguously and endlessly debatable as the Ross and Rachel on a break moment. I, for one, am pleased not to know what could’ve been.

Perry and Sheen certainly had some things in common, which may have been what allowed the Two and a Half Men actor to see things that others perhaps could not. While Sheen was older and became a star earlier, both became the stars of massively popular sitcoms, and it was at that time that each had their major battles with addiction, with Sheen's battle being the more public at the time. Perry also became friends with Sheen's ex-wife during rehab.

Charlie Sheen says he read Matthew Perry’s book, reading it in a day. As it happens, each man is mentioned in the other’s book. Sheen admits he didn’t know Perry well, but it seems that, since the actors had similar experiences, Sheen recognized something in Perry that he felt he understood well.

Sheen specifically mentions a time that Perry was on Bill Maher’s show to discuss the book, and feeling that Perry wasn’t focused on the interview. Sheen also says he heard something similar when listening to part of the audiobook version of Perry’s memoir, saying…

Sheen said he wanted to reach out to Perry, but never did, though he admits it was unlikely he would have done anything that would have changed what happened. Perry was found drowned in a hot tub in October 2023. Ketamine was found in his system in concentrations much higher than should have been there based on the therapy he was taking at the time.

The colleagues were together for a pretty significant decade of their lives, seeing each other through marriages, breakups, fertility issues and more.

It may have actually been director James Burrows who set the tone for the six actors to become lifelong pals. In his memoir, he recalled the fabled trip to Las Vegas that he treated them to ahead of Friends’ 1994 premiere, telling them this was their last shot at anonymity. He was right.

They stuck together after that, with Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow eating lunch together every day (though they didn’t have the viral salad that many have attributed to Aniston). Aniston became the godmother to Cox’s daughter, and the actresses still shout out each other’s birthdays and even get together every once in a while. Also, while there’s probably no pre-show huddle anymore, the actors have often made cameo appearances on each other’s projects.

Given how much the Friends actors make in residuals each year, they probably don’t even need to keep working; however, the actresses are all involved in some highly anticipated projects. Courteney Cox will reprise the role of Gale Weathers in Scream 7, set for release on the 2026 movie calendar. Lisa Kudrow also has big things happening next year, as it was recently announced she’ll return for a third and final season of The Comeback, and Jennifer Aniston will also return to the small screen as executive producer and star of The Morning Show Season 4.

While we wait for these to happen, we can always relive the days of yore (or yesteryear) by streaming all 10 seasons of Friends with an HBO Max subscription and imagining the sweet pre-show huddle that came before.

As President Jed Bartlet’s deputy chief of staff on The West Wing, Josh Lyman was granted access to pretty much any room he wanted, and that includes “the room where it happens.” Even Bradley Whitford, the actor portraying him, had certain privileges when it came to the leader of the free world’s quarters. However, even for those who drink from the keg of glory, there are some spots that are tough to get into. The set of Friends would be one of those.

Bradley Whitford recently looked back on the days of The West Wing (which can be streamed with a Max subscription), where he first worked with The Handsmaid’s Tale star Elisabeth Moss. The cast of The American President-inspired political drama would sometimes travel to Washington, D.C., to shoot on location, and it sounds like portraying one of the White House senior staff members carried a certain cachet. He told EW:

It’s kind of wild to think about security around the White House being lax in any way, but I guess it was safe to assume Bradley Whitford and his castmates had no ill intentions and were too well-known to get away with anything anyway.

The security around the Warner Bros. lot back in Burbank, California, however, made no such assumptions. Bradley Whitford recalled trying to get a script to Friends star Matthew Perry, who appeared on three episodes of The West Wing as lawyer Joe Quincy. With the two NBC shows shooting on the same lot, Whitford thought it would be easy to deliver the scripts to his buddy.

Turns out that wasn’t the case. The Friends set was apparently locked down like Fort Knox, and security not only didn’t care that Bradley Whitford knew Matthew Perry or that he worked there too; they also refused to pass along the script after denying him access to the Chandler Bing portrayer. Whitford said:

Maybe if the actor had come equipped with the finest muffins and bagels in all the land, the security guards might have been more amenable to his needs?

I’m not sure what the norm is regarding security on the sets of popular TV shows, and if people are typically allowed to wander around other sets, but I personally find it good to hear that the security guards took the safety of the Friends cast seriously. As stars of one of the best sitcoms of all time, the six main actors skyrocketed to fame that remains as strong as ever 30 years later.

The same could also be said for The West Wing cast, as the drama also remains one of television’s most rewatchable shows. Fans have maintained hope of a reboot of some sort, and while we still may not know “what’s next” for the Aaron Sorkin universe, we can get excited about another upcoming reunion.

After The Handmaid’s Tale came to end in 2025, thus ending Bradley Whitford’s reunion with Elisabeth Moss, Whitford will now join Allison Janney on The Diplomat (streaming with a Netflix subscription) for Season 3. A first look at The West Wing alums playing husband and wife even had fans making a reference to an old episode, so I guess another rewatch is in order!

Even though Friends premiered over 30 years ago, we’re still chomping at the bit for all the BTS stories we can get. Now, fan-favorite guest star Paget Brewster has given us one that had to be mortifying in the moment, but she can laugh about it now. I say that because she shared a story involving Matthew Perry and a wardrobe mishap that he handled in a very “gentlemanly” way.

While Brewster was only in six episodes of Friends across Season 4, she’s remembered fondly. She played Kathy, a woman who started out dating Joey but ended up in a brief fling with Chandler, and she was featured in some of Matthew Perry’s best episodes, like “The One with Chandler in a Box.” That means she spent a lot of time with Perry, and one day, while they were between scenes, he invited her over to play basketball in a pool, as the actress told The Independent:

From there, the Huff actress noted that they were playing basketball in the pool, it was completely innocent, and she was wearing a pair of shorts and her bra. While they were in the midst of the game, her bra slipped, and I’d imagine it was a pretty uncomfortable wardrobe malfunction. However, Perry informed her of the mishap in a kind way, as she explained:

Honestly, this kind of mishap feels like a story that would be told on Friends. It’s quite funny, and the fact that they both handled it maturely and kindly makes it even better. Truly, this feels like the kind of tale that was bad in the moment but funny in hindsight, especially since Perry handled it in a kind and awkward Chandler-coded way.

Speaking about how Perry was “such a gentleman and a sweetheart” during this whole situation, Paget Brewster said:

The Criminal Minds actor was referencing her co-star’s memoir Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, which came out the year before Perry passed away. Along with this story and appreciation for his book, Brewster paid tribute to her co-star and spoke fondly of working closely with him on the beloved sitcom.

Clearly, she adored Matthew Perry and their time working together on Friends, even when it involved a potentially embarrassing wardrobe mishap. And it’s always fun as a fan to hear stories about what it was like to work on this massive hit.

The Whole Nine Yards is remembered by fans as one of the better comedies in Bruce Willis' filmography. The film sees the beloved star play a gangster-turned-snitch who tries to start a new life for himself in Montreal and gets entwined in the life of a miserable dentist (a mid-Friends Matthew Perry) with a controlling and demanding wife (Rosanna Arquette) who wants to collect the mob bounty on his head. It's a fun movie, and co-star Amanda Peet recalls a specific way that Willis kept the atmosphere fun on set.

The crime comedy is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, having first arrived in theaters in February 2000, and Peet reflected on her time making the movie recently during a red carpet interview with Entertainment Tonight. The actress, currently starring in the new Apple TV+ series Your Friends And Neighbors with Jon Hamm, was asked about the making of the movie, and she highlighted a special item that Bruce Willis had strung up in his living space that she felt exemplified the air of the whole experience. Said Peet,

Amanda Peet was still very much in the early years of her career during the making of The Whole Nine Yards (just five years removed from her feature film debut in 1995's Animal Room starring Neil Patrick Harris and Matthew Lillard, but she recalls her more experienced co-stars not letting her get overwhelmed. And one would think that it would be hard to be stressed when you're hanging out with one of the biggest stars in the world under the twinkling glow of a disco ball.

In the movie, Amanda Peet plays Jill St. Clair – who is introduced as the dental hygenist for Matthew Perry's Nicholas "Oz" Oseransky but is eventually revealed as a contract killer who was hired by his wife to kill him. She ends up striking up a romance with Brice Willis' Jimmy "The Tulip" Tudeski, and they end the film as a happy couple.

The Whole Nine Yards, which also featured the talents of Michael Clarke Duncan, Natasha Henstridge, and Kevin Pollak, got a divisive response from critics, but it ended up being a huge hit with audiences. The movie ended its theatrical run making over $100 million, and Peet, Henstridge Bruce Willis and Matthew Perry reprised their respective roles four years later in the sequel The Whole Ten Yards (Pollak is also in the movie, but playing a new character).

It’s hard to believe that it's been almost two years since Matthew Perry’s tragic and accidental death at age 54. Past co-stars, fans and all connected to Perry were in shock at the news and continued to be with the unfolding of updates surrounding his death, including Peacock’s recent doc. But with all of the sad details that have come to light, many sweet remembrances have followed, including Friends vet Maggie Wheeler, who played the incomparable Janice ​​Hosenstein. The fictional on-again off-again girlfriend of Chandler Bing opened up about still missing him while also revealing a small but connecting happening between the two after the 2023 news.

While it’s been a long time since we’ve seen Janice onscreen, Wheeler voiced a character in the 2025 movie guide kid-flick Dog Man. While a guest on Still Here Hollywood with Steve Kmetko, she talked about her staple spot on Friends (now streamable with a Max subscription). But when Kmetko launched into asking about working with Perry, the Parent Trap alum shared that she missed him and her brother (whom she also lost to addiction). Along with the admittance, she shared a chance encounter around the time of the late Friends star’s passing, which she believes to have been his spirit responding to her. In her words, via YouTube:

What a special and sweet moment of connection Wheeler found in the aftermath of Perry’s passing. It’s one thing to have lost one person, but two to a similar fate is heartbreaking. And as she mentions in the conversation, regardless of where someone is in their battle with addiction, it’s still a surprise when someone passes. Learning that she experienced a quiet moment where she felt her past peer’s spirit watch out for her and her family must have been a nice comfort to her then.

From all of the wholesome stories of the 17 Again alum, including Marlo Thomas’s small but sweet first interactions to saving John Stamos from embarrassment and even Paul Rudd recalling being included on set, I’m not surprised Wheeler felt him in that way. Even though he struggled with addiction throughout his career, he was always prepared on the Friends set, according to the Janice actress. She spoke to his undeniable comedy talent, noting that’s why she created that wild laugh (that laugh is what led to why Janice became a recurring character).

Needless to say, Maggie Wheeler and Matthew Perry’s friendship that started on Friends was a long-lasting and special one.

Throughout its 10-season run, Friends had quite an impressive lineup of guest stars, from George Clooney and Noah Wyle to Friends superfan Reese Witherspoon and Paul Rudd, who recurred throughout the final two seasons as Phoebe’s love interest, Mike. Now, the Ant-Man actor specifically is reflecting on his time on the NBC sitcom and what it was like working with the late Matthew Perry.

Rudd is the latest Friends guest star to speak highly about Perry, who passed away in 2023. Even despite coming onto the show towards the end, the Marvel star recalled how nice the Chandler actor was, telling WSJ that he once walked past his dressing room and he immediately wanted him to pull up a chair and play video games:

Having that moment with Perry is certainly special, and it seems like Redd cherishes the memory. It was also a pretty great way to bond, and it really shows the kind of person the late actor was. It couldn’t have been easy for the Death of a Unicorn actor to come onto Friends during its ninth season, and the 17 Again actor certainly made it a little easier. Now, he has that moment forever.

Rudd has been open about his time on Friends before, including how strange it was to be included in the series finale since he wasn’t even on the show for very long. However, he definitely made an impact on the comedy, and to this day, people will talk to him about the great sitcom. That being said, despite serving as a big character for Phoebe’s story arc, Rudd still felt a bit weird since it was such a massive time for the main actors. Regardless, it seems like the role had quite an impact on him for a number of reasons.

Meanwhile, Matthew Perry’s memory continues to live on thanks to Friends being available to those with a Max subscription and so many people recalling their favorite memories of him. His former co-star Ione Skye shared the text exchange she had when he reached out to her before his death, while Yvette Nicole Brown recalled working with him and their initially awkward dynamic. It’s been over a year since he died, but he will certainly live on forever.

Considering that Paul Rudd appeared in the final two seasons of Friends, it makes me wonder just what other special moments he’s shared with Perry or the rest of the cast. But only time will tell if he’ll give those stories up. At the very least, fans can always watch his episodes and Matthew Perry's brilliant performance as Chandler Bing on Max.

It’s been nearly a year and a half since Friends star Matthew Perry died in his hot tub at the age of 54, and in that time, several celebrities have spoken out about their experiences with him. Jennifer Aniston (whose series The Morning Show will return to the 2025 TV schedule) even recalled texting with him before he died. Now another former co-star has done the same, releasing the final messages she and Perry exchanged.

Ione Skye and Matthew Perry were two stars of the 1988 movie A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon. It was Perry’s film debut, and according to Skye, they even dated briefly. While promoting her new memoir Say Everything (a play on the title of another of her credits, Say Anything), Skye recalls getting a message from the actor on October 15, 2023, less than two weeks before he would drown in his hot tub after ingesting large amounts of ketamine. The exchange went as follows:

• Matthew Perry: Hi! I hope all is well. I was meditating (I meditate now) and “In Your Eyes” started playing. And I instantly thought of you and how beautiful you are.
• Ione Skye: Awe. I love that. Xo
• Perry: Hope you are healthy and happy.
• Skye: yes I am both. I think! Good to hear from you. I only have nice memories with you.
• Perry: Me too. That one afternoon, I was just sitting in my apartment, and there you were!

Matthew Perry recalled that famous scene from the 1989 rom-com, in which John Cusack’s character famously holds a boombox over his head. “In Your Eyes” was the song he was playing for his girlfriend Diane, who was portrayed by Ione Skye.

It makes sense that she would flash into his mind after hearing that song, and this appears to be a really nice moment of reconnection for the two. Ione Skye said she hadn’t heard from him in a long time before that, and with his death coming so soon afterward, she wasn’t sure she should even say anything (no pun intended), as she said, per NBC:

In the end, Ione Skye decided that the world could always use another nice Matthew Perry story, and she chose to let the public see it.

This actress is one of so many to share stories about the man who brought Chandler Bing to life with some of the funniest quotes on Friends. In addition to his five co-stars on one of the best sitcoms of all time — who released a joint statement to say they were “utterly devastated” by the loss — we’ve heard from everybody from Friends guest stars Paget Brewster and Selma Blair to Morgan Fairchild, the actress who played Chandler’s mom Nora.

Matthew Perry may be gone, but he left behind many like Ione Skye who cared about him and are ensuring he won’t be forgotten.

For the past 30 years that we’ve been enjoying Friends — one of the best sitcoms of all time — a lot has been said about how often the six main characters sat around drinking coffee at Central Perk rather than working. Another big question should have been how they managed to stay in shape despite rarely working out. The magic of A.I. has now reimagined our Friends as gym rats, and fans have some pretty clever reactions, including a great Joey callback.

Over the course of its 10 seasons (which can be streamed with a Max subscription), we saw hints of the group working on their fitness. One of Phoebe’s most hilarious moments involved her and Rachel going for a run, and Monica was determined to help Chandler lose a few pounds in Season 5. Friends fans know how much Joey liked to eat, and despite this A.I. image of Matt LeBlanc’s soap opera actor looking quite juiced, fans like @sr9el came to the comments of the above post to recall one Season 10 quote where, after being shamed by Rachel’s sister Amy (Christina Applegate in her iconic guest role) over some pizza, Joey shouted:

I mean, don’t you remember how contentious a relationship Joey had with his weights? (“Damn you, 15s!”)

The above quote from “The One Where Rachel’s Sister Babysits” pops up quite a few times under the A.I. post, but it was far from the only clever retort. Many people (including @sofiamelone_ and @ ___bad90s_) recalled “The One With the Ballroom Dancing,” where Chandler (Matthew Perry) tried to get out of his gym membership:

In this A.I. alternate universe, Chandler couldn’t leave Ross without a spotter, and Ross clearly couldn’t say no to Maria, the Lycra spandex covered gym treat. However, fans were a little weary of the powerful paleontologist, saying:

Last but not least, there’s Lisa Kudrow’s Phoebe, who looks like she’s been doing a lot more than just running away from Satan (the neighbor’s dog). Instagram user @_cnnr_0818_ might have won the comments with this simple but effective edit to Phoebe’s name, writing:

There are definitely instances of the misuse of artificial intelligence, but sometimes the technology can be used for some frivolous fun, like imagining the Harry Potter cast as Grey’s Anatomy doctors or as stars of The Office.

Ana Gasteyer - Judge Patrice Lessner - 5 Episodes

Making sure the lawyers say “in my opinion” in their various statements is Judge Patrice Lessner’s signature move, and it’s hilarious. That funny element of this character is perfect, too, considering she’s played in Seasons 1, 2, 4 and 6 by Saturday Night Live alum and comedy genius Ana Gasteyer.

Mike Colter - Lemond Bishop - 21 Episodes

Mike Colter has become a Michelle and Robert King repertory player thanks to his leading role in the show Evil, and you likely also recognize him for playing the titular Luke Cage in the Marvel series. However, before that, he played the drug lord Lemond Bishop in 21 episodes of The Good Wife between Seasons 1 and 6.

Melissa Benoist - Molly - 1 Episode

I was introduced to Melissa Benoist when she appeared on Glee. Then, The CW’s Supergirl made her a household name. However, long before all that, she had a small guest starring role on The Good Wife as Molly, Cary Agos’ first cousin, in Season 2, Episode 9.

America Ferrera - Natalie Flores - 4 Episodes

The year after Ugly Betty ended, America Ferrera joined the cast of The Good Wife for three episodes in Season 2 (Episodes 15, 18 and 20), then popped up again during Season 5, Episode 8. She played student Natalie Flores in the show. After that, she went on to lead the comedy Superstore and played a major role in the cast of 2023’s Barbie.

I was introduced to Taye Diggs thanks to his role as the Bandleader in one of the best musicals, Chicago. He’s also very well known for films like House on Haunted Hill, Rent, and Set It Up. So, it was fun to come see him play on The Good Wife when he appeared in Season 6, Episodes 2, 3 and 5 as the lawyer Dean Levine-Wilkins.

Sarah Silverman - Stephanie Engler - 1 Episode

Sarah Silverman had been in the comedy game for a long time before playing Stephanie Engler in Season 2, Episode 22 of The Good Wife. And she brought that sense of humor to the show while also showing off her more dramatic side while playing this client of Lockhart/Gardner.

Michael Kelly - Mickey Gunn - 2 Episodes

Michael Kelly is one of those actors who seemingly has shown up in everything. He’s a well-known character actor who has been in projects like Jack Ryan, Lioness, The Penguin, House of Cards and so much more. And in Season 3, Episodes 2 and 8 of The Good Wife he played Mickey Gunn, a political strategist who spent a lot of time verbally sparring with Alan Cumming’s Eli Gold.

Matthew Perry’s Mike Kresteva proved to be a snarky adversary of Alicia in his introductory episode (Season 3, Episode 19). And seeing him come back in Season 4, Episodes 1 and 18, was always fun! Overall, while the actor brought the sarcastic sense of humor we know and love him for thanks to Friends, this show also let him show off a more dramatic side.

The Good Wife loves its Broadway guest stars, and one of their biggest gets on this front was Kristin Chenoweth. The Tony winner and Wicked alum played Peggy Byrn in Season 4, Episodes 1 and 6 and it was always fun to see her interact with Alan Cumming’s Eli Gold.

Nathan Lane - Clarke Hayden - 15 Episodes

In the beginning (Season 4), Clarke Hayden is a trustee assigned to Lockheart/ Gardner, and he worked on their horrendous financial situation. Later, he worked with the firm as a lawyer. This character who appears in 15 episodes across Seasons 4 and 5 is played by the remarkable Nathan Lane, who you most definitely know from his legendary work in films like The Birdcage, The Producers and The Lion King.

Carrie Preston - Elsbeth Tascioni - 14 Episodes

Carrie Preston’s Elsbeth Tascioni was so iconic on The Good Wife and The Good Fight that she got her own show. After starring in 14 episodes of the flagship show across every season (except Season 2) and five episodes of the spinoff and winning an Emmy for her work, the Kings created Elsbeth, a hit CBS show based around Preston’s lawyer-turned-crime-solver.

Elsbeth talks a lot about her ex-husband and her son. While we didn’t meet her kid, Teddy, until Elsbeth, we did meet her former spouse, Mike Tascioni, in four episodes of The Good Wife during Season 7, Episodes 15, 16, 17 and 19. He was played by Will Patton, who you likely recognize from one of the best sports movies, Remember the Titans, and shows like Yellowstone.

Parker Posey - Vanessa Gold - 3 Episodes

Who can go toe-to-toe with Alan Cumming and play his ex? Parker Posey, of course. The indie film darling played Eli Gold’s ex-wife in Season 3, Episodes 6, 15 and 20, and she was the perfect person to play this vital character in the political consultant’s story.

Da’Vine Joy Randolph - Margie - 1 Episode

Oscar winner Da’Vine Joy Randolph appeared in one episode of The Good Wife, Season 4, Episode 21, to be exact. She played Margie on the show. These days, she’s best known for her turns in The Holdover, Dolemite is My Name and Only Murders in the Building, so it’s cool to think that this CBS procedural was one of her first-ever on-screen gigs.

In an almost blink and you’ll miss it role, Gillian Jacobs (of Community fame) appeared in the pilot of The Good Wife as Alicia and Cary’s assistant.

Before The Good Wife, we knew Christina Ricci from The Addams Family and Casper. In more recent years, she and the Yellowjackets cast are all the rage. However, for one episode in 2012, Season 4, Episode 7, to be exact, she played comedienne Therese Dodd in the hit CBS drama.

We know and love Wallace Shawn for saying “inconceivable” in The Princess Bride, and we also adore him for his roles in The Incredibles, Toy Story and more. Vanessa Williams is well known and loved for her roles on long-lasting shows like Ugly Betty and Desperate Housewives. However, she’s also a King repertory player. She appeared in four episodes of The Good Wife, Season 7, Episodes 7 through 10, as CEO Courtney Paige, and then she showed up as a totally different character years later in the spinoff series, Elsbeth.

This list is honestly barely scratching the surface of the iconic actors who have been recruited to guest star on The Good Wife. The list is honestly elite, and it’s always fun to go back and see so many performers during so many different stages of their careers.

Considering how often Friends still airs in syndication and continues to keep Matthew Perry’s Chandler Bing around as a daily presence, it can be easy to forget that it’s been around 16 months since the actor died of an accidental drowning caused by the acute effects of ketamine. Since that time, the majority of his former co-stars have shared tributes and praise, while a new streaming documentary is looking deeper into the lead-up and shocking causal factors that resulted in his death.

Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy, Available now with a Peacock subscription as one of this week’s streaming highlights, is an hourlong retrospective that is less of a career celebration and more of a cautionary tale about substance abuse, and the ways affluent celebrities can unwittingly influence negative and potentially deadly behavior within their inner circles. In Perry’s case, it came down to a personal assistant he’d reportedly trusted for years, as well as the doctors supplying the ketamine in such high amounts.

It was revealed in the doc that Perry was given upwards of 27 ketamine injections across the three days that preceded his death. And U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada appears quite often as a talking-head, pointing the finger at the eventually convicted physicans — Drs. Salvador Plasencia and Mark Chavez — as well as Perry's longtime live-in assistant Kenneth Iwamasa. In his words:

Saying that the medical professionals responsible "should have known much better," Estrada stated that there were plenty of warning signs and red flags along the way that should have been avoided in the first place, but that someone also should have stepped in after the problems became worse.

In the aftermath of Perry's death and the ensuing investigation, charges were filed against not just Placencia and Chavez, but also Iwamasa, TV director Erik Fleming, and another drug dealer. The case also drew national attention to the so-called "Ketamine Queen," Jasveen Sangha.

For many, Matthew Perry will always be more than just a TV comedy actor, just like he'd wanted. And here's hoping that his struggles will serve to help others to find help in their own lives before things go too far.

Kate Hudson takes her first leading role in a TV series in Running Point. The comedy sees Hudson as an underachieving daughter who finds herself taking over as President of her family's professional basketball team.

Wizards Beyond Waverly Place - February 28 (Disney+)

Wizards of Waverly Place was one of the more popular Disney Channel original series during the golden age of the channel’s original content. Old fans and new fans alike will get the next 12 episodes of the sequel series Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, executive-produced by Selena Gomez.

97th Oscars - March 2 (Hulu)

Jurassic World: Dominion (Extended Version) - March 2 (Peacock)

Jurassic World: Rebirth is likely to be one of the biggest movies on the 2025 movie schedule, so now is as good a time as any to catch up on the franchise. Jurassic World: Dominion hasn’t been available on Universal’s own platform for a while but this week your Peacock subscription will give you access to both the theatrical and the extended edition of the film.

Next week will be one of the biggest weeks streaming has seen in a while, with the release of Daredevil: Born Again. If you don’t have a Disney+ subscription now, it might be worth getting it ready.

A lot of stories have come out about Matthew Perry in the year since his death at age 54, from making Marlo Thomas feel comfortable on set to saving John Stamos from an embarrassing moment. Now, Brooke Shields, who played one of Friends’ most memorable side characters, has added to the Chandler Bing actor’s lore, and her story is quite a doozy. In fact, even as she spoke of the prank that Perry used to pull on his co-stars, Shields admitted that such a stunt today would likely have gotten him “canceled.”

Brooke Shields famously guest-starred on Season 2’s “The One After the Super Bowl,” playing Erika, Joey’s hand-licking stalker. Coming onto the “well-oiled machine” of Friends — one of the best sitcoms of all time — wasn’t easy though, she said, as the six lead actors were so close and had a bunch of inside jokes. Shields noticed one prank in particular that Matthew Perry used to pull on his co-stars that would definitely not fly on a TV set today. Shields recalled on The View:

Wow, that is definitely not a joke that would go over well on most sets these days, 30 years after Brooke Shields’ time on the show; however, it seemed to be something they were all comfortable with at the time. As Shields indicated above, she saw it as an opportunity to make Matthew Perry laugh, and she decided to reverse the prank on the actor. She continued:

Thank goodness everybody started laughing, because I can’t imagine the level of embarrassment Brooke Shields would have felt if she’d thrown her body into such a physical prank only for it to fall flat.

She went on to say that Matthew Perry asked her how she’d known about the prank, and she admitted that she’d been watching him and his castmates interact (getting into her stalker character, I see!). She also thanked him for bringing everyone so much humor, so in the end, the joke that, if done today, likely would require an HR meeting ultimately turned into a sweet moment between the actors.

While not every TV show cast gets along as well off-camera as they do on screen, one of the things that made the Friends cast so special — and one of the best sitcoms of all time — is just how close the six actors were in real life. When Matthew Perry died in October 2023 in a drowning due to the effects of ketamine, his former co-stars were “utterly devastated,” saying they’d lost not just a castmate but a family member. As hard as the year has been for those closest to the Chandler Bing actor, an insider said there’s actually one positive aspect that’s come from it.

If we’re looking at the Friends characters, it was probably Lisa Kudrow’s Phoebe Buffay who was best able to find the silver lining in every cloud, and while that’s an admittedly tall order in this case, if there’s any good that Kudrow, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc could take from Matthew Perry’s tragic passing at age 54, a source told Life&Style it’s this:

We’ve seen evidence of how close the six Friends leads have remained in the 20 years since its finale aired. Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox having dinner together, Lisa Kudrow getting lots of birthday love and all of them making cameo appearances on each other’s projects. Aniston even said she was texting with Matthew Perry the day he died.

However, it seems like the tragedy has only strengthened the bond of the five remaining cast members, and it sounds like now they’re keeping in touch pretty regularly. Lisa Kudrow even started rewatching Friends in Matthew Perry’s honor.

The actor who made us laugh so much as Chandler Bing even addressed how important they all were to each other during the Friends reunion in 2021 (available to stream with a Max subscription), saying that anytime they would run into one of the castmates at a party, “you apologized to the people you were with, but they had to understand you had met somebody special to you and you were going to talk to that person for the rest of the night.”

For someone who is being remembered as a man who embodied the “I’ll Be There for You” theme song, one would have to think Matthew Perry would be happy to know he was able to bring his friends together in this way. And if there are silver linings to be found, It’s also undeniable that the actor was able to help so many people by speaking candidly about his addictions. Perry will always be remembered for his role on Friends, but helping people was the legacy he hoped to leave behind.

Over the course of nine seasons (and two networks), the Zach Braff-led medical comedy introduced audiences to some of the most iconic and endearing small-screen characters of the past 25 years, as well as some legendary celebrity guests. Brendan Fraser

Though Brendan Fraser is best known for roles in movies like The Mummy, The Whale, and Encino Man, the Oscar winner played a small yet pivotal role as Ben Sullivan on Scrubs. Dr. Cox’s (John C. McGinley) brother-in-law, Ben was at the center of several of the best episodes of Scrubs as well as one of the most emotional TV moments of all time. Seriously, Ben is one of the best characters to ever appear on the show, which is saying a lot.

Michael J. Fox

One of several Spin City cast members to show up on Scrubs, Michael J. Fox appeared in a pair of episodes during the show’s third season. Taking on the role of Dr. Kevin Casey, a confident and talented doctor and surgeon dealing with obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Ryan Reynolds

Before he was leading some of the best Marvel movies and showing up in great romantic comedies, Ryan Reynolds had a one-off appearance on Scrubs. Showing up in the show’s second season, Reynolds played Spence, J.D. (Zach Braff) and Turk’s (Donald Faison) college friend who comes to visit while in town for a wedding.

Courteney Cox

A few years after Friends came to an end and a few months before Cougar Town premiered, Courteney Cox had a brief fun on Scrubs. During her handful of appearances in the show’s eighth season, Cox played Dr. Taylor Maddox, the new Sacred Heart chief of medicine following Dr. Kelso’s (Ken Jenkins) sudden departure.

Dick Van Dyke

Probably the Scrubs celebrity guest with the most prolific career, Dick Van Dyke showed up for a single episode partway through the show’s second season. The legendary actor/singer/dancer took on the role of Dr. Doug Townshend, a Sacred Heart doctor who no longer wanted to stick around and keep up with technology and decided to retire.

Elizabeth Banks

In terms of guest spots, few actors appeared in as many episodes as Elizabeth Banks. Between Seasons 5 and 8, Banks popped up in a total of 15 episodes as Dr. Kim Briggs, a urologist at another hospital who eventually became the mother of J.D.’s son before it was all said and done.

Colin Farrell

Colin Farrell was just about everywhere in the 2000s, including Scrubs. The In Bruges actor played Billy Callahan, an Irishman who was sticking around to watch over a man he knocked out in a bar fight, partway through Season 4. Though his arrival caused a stir at Sacred Heart, it all eventually worked out in the end.

Aziz Ansari

Before he became one of the biggest comedians on the planet thanks to Parks and Recreation and Master of None, Aziz Ansari had a supporting role on Scrubs. Ansari appeared throughout the show’s eighth season where he played Dr. Ed Dhandapani, one of J.D.’s young interns, and possibly the laziest person at Sacred Heart.

Heather Graham

A major player throughout Scrubs Season 4, Heather Graham took on the role of Dr. Molly Clock, a psychiatrist at Sacre Heart who kept referring to J.D. as “Johnny.” She appeared in nine episodes during her single-season run on the show.

Billy Dee Williams

Billy Dee Williams, of Star Wars and Brian’s Song fame, showed up in a single episode of Scrubs Season 5. But like other guest stars, Williams played himself, or at least a version that was Julie Quinn’s (Mandy Moore) godfather.

Matthew Perry

The late Matthew Perry (appearing alongside his real-life father, John Bennett Perry) showed up for an episode of Scrubs back in the show’s fourth season. In his one-off appearance, Perry played Murray Marks, a man who comes to Sacred Heart Hospital to donate a kidney to his ailing father.

Mandy Moore

Several years before she led another all-time great NBC series, This Is Us, Mandy Moore showed up on Scrubs as Julie Quinn. Though she only appeared on a pair of episodes during the show’s fifth season, Moore’s character made quite an impact on the staff at Sacred Heart, especially J.D. Their romance was short-lived, but one the hopeless romantic doctor wouldn’t forget.

Richard Kind

Harvey Corman is definitely one of the most iconic (and annoying) guest characters on Scrubs, and that’s all thanks to the brilliant work by Richard Kind. A hypochondriac like no other, Corman was in and out of Sacred Heart Hospital with all kinds of issues and medical emergencies throughout Seasons 2 through 4.

Masi Oka

Before having a massive breakout role on Heroes, Masi Oka appeared on Scrubs off and on between Seasons 1 and 4, in which he took on the role of a lab tech named Franklyn. Though he only appeared in a handful of episodes before leaving the show, Oka’s character showed up in some of the most memorable moments in Scrubs history.

Tom Cavanagh

In addition to leading the comedy series Ed, Tom Cavanagh also had a sizable guest spot on Scrubs. Every once in a while, Cavanagh would show up as J.D.’s older brother, Dan Dorian. There for a life, a shoulder to cry on, or an important life lesson, Dan was there for some of his brother’s most trying moments.

Tara Reid

Tara Reid was part of the Scrubs cast for 11 episodes, with all but one coming from the show’s third season. During her run, Reid took on the role of Danni Sullivan, Ben Sullivan’s younger sister, who became one of J.D.’s many girlfriends at one point.

Phill Lewis

Phill Lewis has appeared just about everywhere throughout his prolific TV career, including Sacred Heart Hospital for a stretch. During his run on Scrubs, Lewis portrayed Hooch, an orthopedic surgeon with a wild and dangerous side, to say the very least.

Jason Bateman

Jason Bateman popped up for a single episode of Scrubs during the show’s fifth season. During his one-off appearance, Bateman plays Mr. Sutton, a garbageman who refuses to thank J.D. after being treated.

John Ritter

The late John Ritter showed up in two episodes of Scrubs as Sam Dorian, J.D.’s dad. The cash-strapped and constantly unemployed character had his issues, but still cared deeply for his song.

Taran Killam

Before landing a steady gig on Saturday Night Live, Taran Killam had a recurring role on Scrubs during the show’s penultimate season. Killam took on the role of Jimmy, one of J.D.’s interns at Sacred Heart.

Jimmie Walker

Jimmie Walker, best known for his portrayal of J.J. Evans and his “Dynomite” catchphrase from Good Times, appeared in two episodes of Scrubs. During the show’s first season, Walker played himself as he appeared in two of the J.D.’s signature daydreams.

Best known for his roles as Jack McFarland on Will & Grace, Sean Hayes has made a ton of other appearances over the years. This includes Scrubs, where he played Nick Murdoch, an intern whose time at Sacred Heart was shortlived because he couldn’t handle the stress and emotional toll of watching a young patient’s slow demise under his care.

Ricky Schroder

Ricky Schroder’s career got off to a hot start as a child actor, including multiple appearances and a leading role on Silver Spoons, one of the most beloved sitcoms of the ‘80s. That career would continue well into adulthood for the former teenage star, including a four-episode turn on Scrubs. During the show’s second season, Schroder played Paul Flower, a male nurse Elliott Reid (Sarah Chalke) was embarrassed to admit she was dating.

Kelli Williams

If you look at the list of the best TV shows of all time, you’ll find multiple featuring the work of Kelli Williams. In addition to Law & Order, Quantum Leap, The Practice, and Ally McBeal, there’s also Scrubs. During her two episodes back in 2001, Williams played Kristen Murphy, a surgical student at Sacred Heart Hospital.

Cheryl Hines

In the middle of her run as Larry David’s wife on Curb Your Enthusiasm, Cheryl Hines made a brief appearance on Scrubs. During a single episode in the show’s fifth season, Hines played Paige Cox, Dr. Perry Cox’s very religious sister who shows up at Sacred Heart Hospital and forces the temperamental doctor to think about memories he long locked away in the deepest and most secure vaults of his mind.

Dave Foley

Dave Foley, best known for his time on The Kids in the Hall and movies like A Bug’s Life and Toy Story 2, had a pair of appearances on Scrubs during the middle of the show’s nine-season run. Foley took on the role of Dr. Lester Hedrick, a Sacred Heart grief counselor who was like a softer, kinder, and more easy-going mentor for J.D. when compared to the easily angered and annoyed Dr. Cox.

Julianna Margulies

E.R. wasn’t the only NBC-based show set in a hospital to feature the work of Julianna Margulies, as she also popped up on Scrubs for a couple of episodes during the show’s fourth season. But instead of playing a doctor this time, Margulies took on the role of Jenna Broderick, a candidate for the scariest lawyer award. The malpractice attorney had a habit of showing up and causing trouble, especially with J.D. Not much is known about the character’s whereabouts about J.D. put an end to things.

Keri Russell

Keri Russell, best known for her work on shows like Felicity and The Americans, had a short run on Scrubs, appearing in two episodes. In the show’s sixth season, Russell took on the role of Melody O’Harra, Elliott’s sorority sister who shows up and brings her easy-go-lucky personality and philosophy on life to the core group of the cast, but mostly J.D.

Heather Locklear

Heather Locklear added Scrubs to her long list of TV credits when she appeared for a pair of episodes during the show’s second season. During her time on the show, Locklear played Julie Keaton, a pharmaceutical rep who showed up at Sacred Heart Hospital to sell her company’s latest and greatest product. But she got more than she could chew when she started a relationship with Dr. Perry Cox, which provided a short-lived reprieve for everyone who had grown tired of his anger and outbursts while making rounds.

Christopher Meloni

Christopher Meloni played one of the most sadistic prisoners in the Oz cast as well as a dedicated and complicated detective on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, but did you know he played a pediatrician on Scrubs? Well, that was the case for an episode during the show’s third season in which he played Dr. David Norris, Dr. Cox and Jordan Sullivan’s (Christa Miller) son’s pediatrician. Though a far stretch from his turn as Chris Keller on the landmark HBO series, Dr. Norris was still a wild card, to say the very least.

Amy Smart

Amy Smart showed up in movies like Varsity Blues, Road Trip, and The Butterfly Effect throughout the late ‘90s and early 2000s, but she also had quite a few TV appearances during that stretch of time. This included a spot on Scrubs as Jamie Moyer, aka “Tasty Coma Wife,” the wife of a car crash victim. This led to one of J.D.’s most ridiculous relationships on the series, which is saying something.

Nicole Sullivan

Mad TV star Nicole Sullivan appeared in a handful of episodes of Scrubs. Sullivan played Jill Tracy, a recurring troubled patient at Sacred Heart who made an impact on everyone she encountered, for better or worse. Her death, which ultimately led to one of the show’s most heartbreaking sequences (it features The Fray’s “How To Save a Life”), is one that had a massive impact on the medical staff for years to come.

Just over a year after the tragic passing of Matthew Perry, the Los Angeles home where he died has officially been sold. The 3,500 square-foot property located in the Pacific Palisades was nabbed up by film production company founder and commercial real estate consultant, Anita Verma-Lallian. The magnate reportedly paid millions of dollars for the property. Now, Verma-Lallian is speaking about owning the property following Perry's death, and it sounds like she's not taking her new property lightly.

As Perry's Friends co-stars paid tribute to him and his family expressed their prior worries about a relapse on the first anniversary of his death, Verma-Lallian bought the late acs property for $8.55 million. Amidst the sale, the successful entrepreneur shared footage to Instagram of the home being blessed with an Indian pooja ceremony and added some words about her plans. Take a look:

Anita Verma-Lallian, who is Indian herself, owns a production company called Camelback Productions, which is dedicated to increasing South Asian representation. As part of her culture, she had a customary practice performed by a pandit ji, following her purchase of the Whole Ten Yards star's former home. She also spoke about how she came into the position to buy the property:

The off-market transaction comes a couple months after five people were arrested in association with Perry’s death. The beloved actor's passing was reportedly due to a ketamine overdose as determined amid an investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department. Perry was found dead at the property in his jacuzzi on October 28, 2023 by first responders after they received a 911 call about a “water emergency”. As Verma-Lallian continued in her statement:

The entrepreneur will not be living full-time in the home, as she referred to it as “the perfect vacation home." But, as she conveyed, they are keeping one vital piece of the place that is very Matthew Perry. He had a light-up Batman symbol installed in their pool. The actor was known to own a lot of Batman-related memorabilia, and it’s sweet the real estate consultant is choosing to honor Perry’s legacy by keeping his custom addition to his pool intact.

As Anita Verma-Lallian also explained, the purchase had nothing to do with Matthew Perry specifically, she was simply blown away by the four bedroom and four bathroom home. Perry purchased the property for $6 million back in 2020 and made renovations to the house just weeks before his death.

After promoting "Jon Hamm's John Ham" in his first SNL hosting gig, Jon Hamm teamed with Michael Bublé (who was that night's musical guest) to introduce a new restaurant that serves pork and champagne. However, the crooner explains in his musical interstitials that he is being held captive by the Mad Men cast member and forced into helping him with this misguided and pun-fueled idea.

Point Blank (Wayne Gretzky)

The legendary Wayne Gretzky appeared as himself in a number of sketches, and proved to have some surprising comedic timing when he hosted SNL in 1989. One of the funniest moments sees the hockey star appears on a talk show that encourages viewers to call in to ask the guest something but none of the questions have anything to do with him or with hockey and are all people seeking advice for something obscure.

Easter Candy (Michael Keaton)

In 2015, Oscar nominee Michael Keaton appeared as a flamboyant, blonde-haired gentleman showing off the contents of his Easter basket, with help from Kate McKinnon as the seemingly imbalanced Portia. It is not until the very end of the deeply bizarre sketch that we discover the Batman actor has been portraying a highly fictionalized version of himself the whole time.

NBA legend Michael Jordan plays himself in a few sketches from his sole hosting gig from 1991. One of the most essential highlights sees the Space Jam cast leader join the hosts of Bill Swerski's Super Fans in a cheer for his fellow Chicago Bulls while wearing hula skirts.

Steve Martin Wants More Money (Steve Martin)

When Five-Timers Club member Steve Martin returned to SNL for his then-record-breaking 14th hosting gig, the comedian starred in a sketch set backstage, where he demanded Lorne Michaels a pay raise. Sugar-Frosted Anabolic Steroids (Fran Tarkenton)

SNL has poked fun at how professional athletes often endorse products on many occasions, such as when John Belushi played himself in an ad for a breakfast cereal that was literally chocolate donuts. In the 1970s, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Fran Tarkenton tried his hand at the topic with a sketch that sees him endorse a cereal that is literally just performance-enhancing drugs.

When actors/professional wrestlers Mr. T and Hulk Hogan hosted SNL together in the 1980s, they mostly appeared as themselves throughout the show. On the anniversary of his death, Perry’s family opened up about his presumed relapse and the worries they had about his sobriety.

Matthew Perry’s mother Suzanne, stepfather Keith Morrison and three sisters all sat down with The Today Show to speak on the anniversary of the actor’s death, and even a year later it seems the family still has questions. He was thought to have been sober for 19 months at the time of his passing, and when Savannah Guthrie asked the family if it seemed he was still on that path, Morrison said, “It appeared to us as if he was,” while Perry’s mother shook her head no. The Dateline NBC correspondent went on:

Matthew Perry was undergoing ketamine therapy, but due to the date of his last treatment and the high amount found in his system at the time of death, an autopsy determined the therapy could not have caused his death. Perry's assistant has since created a timeline of Perry’s last days, which included two doses of ketamine the day he died.

The worry that Matthew Perry’s mom and stepfather had over a possible relapse likely never went away, and it may not have just been them that Perry was hiding his problems from. The actor’s sister Madeline Morrison said:

The family all seemed to agree with this sentiment. Still, Suzanne Morrison indicated that she felt something was off after an interaction she’d had with her son shortly before he died. She recalled having a “premonition,” saying:

JLo allegedly put down quite a bit of her own money to renovate the $60 million mansion that she and Ben Affleck purchased as their family home in 2023. They’re now asking $68 million for it as they navigate a prenup-free divorce two years after tying the knot.

The home has been sitting on the market for months now, and while there’s some speculation that $68 million is too steep a price tag, Selling Sunset star Jason Oppenheim said it’s typical for a house of that size to take six months or longer to find a buyer. The real estate expert said the former couple may still lose money, predicting the home will sell for less than asking and will be subject to Los Angeles’ mansion tax.

Whoever does eventually purchase the 5-acre property will be getting 12 bedrooms and 24 bathrooms that include an overall 15 fireplaces, a spa with hair and nail salon inside, a massage room, sauna, wine room, whiskey lounge and movie theater. The grounds include a 5,000-square-foot sports facility that’s separate from the main house, and the whole area is double-gated to ensure the owner’s security.

However, sources have said the cast isn’t quite sure how to move forward in celebrating the series’ long-lasting success — and the 20th anniversary of its finale — without Matthew Perry. Tate Donovan appeared in five episodes of Season 4 as Joshua, a recent divorcé who hires Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) as his personal shopper to help him buy a whole new wardrobe. On the show, Joshua was oblivious to Rachel’s feelings for him, while in real life emotions ran high, as the couple had just quietly ended their two-year relationship. Donovan told the Independent that Matthew Perry was so nice to him when he was going through it, saying:

Matthew Perry died nearly a year ago, drowning in his hot tub after taking a large amount of ketamine. Tate Donovan had only glowing things to say about Perry, as The O.C. actor regularly hung out with the Friends cast for the duration of his and Jennifer Aniston’s relationship. Donovan continued:

It might seem odd that Tate Donovan took on the role of Joshua during such a delicate time, but he explained that he thought working together might ease the pain of the breakup and get them into the friendship zone quicker. I’m not sure how successful a plan that was, as he said:

Tate Donovan is not the first Friends guest star to recall how kind Matthew Perry was. John Stamos said he was saved from a huge embarrassing moment by the Chandler actor, and Marlo Thomas shared a sweet memory of how Perry supported her when she was cast as Rachel’s mother.

The actor revealed he had an inkling of what his co-star meant and, despite how long ago the sentiments were shared, it clearly still means a lot to him:

If anything, it's an indication of just how much Matthew Perry respected his co-star and friend. The Friends cast went on to do many other projects following the end of the sitcom, but they still remained close. That was evident in the reunion special a few years ago.

Matthew Perry’s personal assistant, two doctors, a drug dealer called the “Ketamine Queen” and a distributor were charged on August 15 with allegedly helping the Friends star procure the drugs that ultimately killed him. Details were made public about the severity of Perry’s condition, which has reportedly been tough for the people who cared about him. The insider told People:

Matthew Perry’s former co-star Jennifer Aniston, who worked with him for 10 years on one of the best sitcoms of all time, has said she was texting with the Chandler Bing actor the morning of his death, and Friends creator Marta Kauffman also said she kept in contact with him and had FaceTimed him a couple of weeks prior. Both reported him as being happy and healthy.

However, a timeline of Matthew Perry’s final days painted a more somber picture of the actor’s circumstances. As part of a plea deal, Perry’s live-in assistant Kenneth Iwamasa provided authorities with details, including that The Whole Nine Yards star had been found unresponsive two other times before his October 28, 2023, death.

According to reports, one doctor wrote a text message saying, “I wonder how much this moron will pay,” and Kenneth Iwamasa said $55,000 of Matthew Perry’s money was spent on ketamine in the last couple of months of his life. The final words known to be spoken by the actor were instructions for his assistant to “shoot me up with a big one” after he’d asked Iwamasa to prepare the jacuzzi.

In addition to Kenneth Iwamasa, the other four people charged in Matthew Perry’s death are Dr. Mark Chavez, Dr. Salvador Plasencia, Eric Fleming — a supposed distributor — and Jasveen Sangha, the so-called “Ketamine Queen.”

Apparently details like this and the arrests have resurfaced some complicated emotions for those who considered Matthew Perry a friend and for those who knew him better for delivering some of Friends’ funniest lines as Chandler.

The actor was open about his struggles with addiction, using his memoir Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing to reflect on just how bad things got for him while filming Friends and how he nearly died during a medical procedure when the hydrocodone he'd taken reacted with the anesthesia. He even wrote about ketamine in his book, saying, “Has my name written all over it — they might as well have called it ‘Matty.’”

Nearly a year after the death of Matthew Perry, additional details regarding the beloved actor’s passing have continued to come to light. This past week saw a major legal development occur in connection with the unfortunate turn of events. Five people were arrested and charged for reportedly playing a role in the Friends cast member’s death. Among them was Perry’s live-in assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, who has since taken a plea deal. As part of that, Iwamasa released a timeline – one that laid out Perry’s final days. And, as of right now, there are several key details that we know of, including Perry's last words.

It was confirmed in December 2023 – just a few months after Matthew Perry’s passing – that the star’s death could, in great part, be attributed to the drug ketamine. Perry was ultimately found unresponsive in a hot tub at his home back in October 2023. Now, on the heels of Kenneth Iwamasa’s plea agreement, legal documents have been released and shed light on the ex-assistant’s own personal role in his employer’s death. Per the documents, which were obtained by DailyMail.com, the Fools Rush In star had already been found unresponsive at his home twice before his death.

Additionally, prosecutors state that the Whole Ten Yards alum instructed his assistant to “prepare the jacuzzi” for him. Later on, the late star would allegedly ask Mr. Iwamasa to “shoot me up with a big one,” when asking for a dose of ketamine. Those would reportedly be the last words that Iwamasa ever heard from his boss. As laid out within the docs, on the day he died, the Emmy nominee received two doses of the aforementioned substance. One of those shots was apparently administered around 8:30 a.m., and the other was given to him around 12:45 p.m.

These recently released documents also include information that shed more light on Matthew Perry’s struggles with addiction. It’s reported that Perry was allegedly having his aforementioned assistant obtain illegal drugs for him around September 2023. The Studio 60 star would allegedly either give his assistant money for the drugs or promise to pay him back for them at another time. Prosecutors state that Kenneth Iwamasa used $55,000 of Perry’s money to pay for liquid ketamine as well as lozenges laced with the drug.

Matthew Perry actually wrote about ketamine in his 2022 memoir. The actor conveyed that he believed the drug to be so perfect for his purposes that “they might as well have called it ‘Matty’.” Perry didn’t “sugarcoat” anything in the book. The state of Perry’s health shortly before his death has become a major topic of discussion in hindsight. Those who knew him personally have shared varied thoughts on the matter. His ex-partner, Kayti Edwards, alleged that he may have been taking pills, while Jennifer Aniston – who said she texted Perry the morning he did – said he was healthy.

In addition to Kenneth Iwamasa, Dr. Mark Chavez, Dr. Salvador Plasencia, Eric Fleming and Jasveen Sangha (referred to as the “ketamine queen”) were also charged in connection with the Odd Couple star’s death. Fleming and Chavez have also agreed to plea deals, though Sangha and Plasencia have not, as of this writing. Per the legal documents, it was Fleming and Plasencia who supplied Iwamase with the ketamine for his boss.

This situation is still developing, and time will tell how authorities continue to handle it. As for what lies ahead for the defendants who didn’t agree to a plea deal like Matthew Perry's former assistant, that remains to be seen.

Many actors don’t like watching their own performances, so it’s not abnormal for Kudrow to want to avoid watching herself play Phoebe. Actors tend to be critical of their own work, and watching it may ignite feelings of self-consciousness. But after Perry passed, Kudrow seems to have a different perspective, as she was primarily watching for her late friend, instead of herself. She has opened up previously about rewatching Friends, and the emotions that come with it. The show, in a lot of ways, acts like a time capsule for the period, and revisiting the show keeps Perry’s spirit alive, and the humor he brought into the world.

While Conan O’Brien wasn’t a member of the Friends cast himself, he is a good friend of Lisa Kudrow’s and was during the time that the show was airing. He remembered a phone conversation he had with the actress when she first started working on the show, and how Kudrow immediately thought Perry was incredibly funny. O’Brien said:

Even though it’s been 20 years since Friends ended, the series remains a major favorite among fans today and is considered one of the best sitcoms. Along with Courteney Cox, most of Faris’ scenes were with Perry, and she recalled working with the late actor while speaking with People and how much of an honor it was:

It’s definitely a shame that she didn’t appear in more episodes, especially since Erica is one of the Friends side characters fans still love today. Faris is part of a long list of famous guest stars on the sitcom, and the role came to her after her breakout movies Scary Movie and The Hot Chick, so it gave fans an additional reason to watch and love her character.

Not only did she get to work with mostly Perry and Cox, but she also shared that the Chandler actor was the one who suggested her for the role of Erica, making it all the more special. So regardless of how long she was on Friends, it’s clear she was just as honored and grateful as ever to work on the series:

The fan dropped the clip on Threads, and the scene itself is from the Beverly Hills, 90210 episode “April Is the Cruelest Month,” which is part of the first season. It shows Brenda Walsh (Shannen Doherty) and Dylan McKay (Luke Perry) having a brief encounter with Brandon Walsh (Jason Priestly) and fellow student Roger Azarian (Matthew Perry). What’s eerie about this clip isn’t the mere fact that Priestly is the only actor in it that’s still with us but the conversation that Brenda and Dylan have after the other pair speed off:

Said episode centers around Brandon’s interview with Roger, West Beverly Hills High School’s tennis star. After chatting with his peer and taking a look at a screenplay he wrote, Brandon begins to see that the young athlete may be dealing with some dark impulses. It’s a heavy installment of the long-running Fox show and one that remains memorable. That’s arguably due to the inclusion of the future Friends star.

What’s so tragic about watching that scene now is knowing that Matthew Perry dealt with a host of personal problems throughout his own life. The beloved actor struggled with addictions to both alcohol and drugs at different points in time. Later in life, Perry, whose death was attributed to the effects of the drug ketamine – was open about his struggles later in life. He documented quite a bit of his experiences in his 2022 memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing. So, with all of this in mind, it’s quite jarring to see that TV show clip.

It’s honestly still hard to believe that three of the actors in the scene have passed on. Luke Perry sadly died after suffering two major strokes and being put on life support. At the time of his passing, he was starring as Fred Andrews on the CW teen drama Riverdale. His character was ultimately written out, with Fred ultimately dying following a hit-and-run incident. The Season 4 premiere paid tribute to Perry and his character, and Shannen Doherty guest-starred as a way to honor her late on-screen partner.

Shannen Doherty’s death was confirmed by her publicist this past weekend. The late Charmed star was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and went into remission a few years later, before the disease returned. Throughout her cancer battle, Doherty was candid about her struggles and seemingly didn’t lose her upbeat spirit. She was even humorously morbid at times, going as far as to detail the “fun” plans she had for her remains following her death.

Like so many others, I’m sad that she, Matthew Perry and Luke Perry have passed away, and the clip above is a stark reminder of their absences. However, it also likely exudes nostalgia for fans who loved watching their work. All three will certainly be missed, but they’ll absolutely never be forgotten.

Matthew Perry wanted to be remembered as more than just Chandler from Friends, and while he made a difference when he was alive by speaking so openly about his issues with substance abuse, it sounds like his death could have an impact too, as the investigation could expose drug dealing in Hollywood. Authorities continue to look into how Perry procured the large amount of ketamine that was in his system when he drowned, and mail fraud may be involved.

The investigation into Matthew Perry’s drowning continues eight months after the actor was found dead in his hot tub. Authorities have been questioning his acquaintances, even seizing a laptop and phone from Charlie Sheen’s ex-wife Brooke Mueller, who has reportedly been cooperating with the investigation and remains “adamant" she had nothing to do with Perry’s death. One avenue that’s being looked into, according to former CIA and FBI special agent Tracy Walder, is mail fraud, as she said there’s been an explosion in drug rings sending prescriptions through the mail. Walder told Page Six: 

Mail fraud is a federal offense, and the agencies handling the investigation into Mattew Perry’s death — the Los Angeles Police Department, US Drug Enforcement Administration and US Postal Inspection Service — are allegedly preparing to file charges against multiple people who may have been involved. Those charges could include involuntary manslaughter, Walder said, explaining: 

Mail fraud is just one means by which Matthew Perry could have gotten the ketamine that was found in his system, Walder said, pointing out that often people will pay friends to give them their prescription. Either way, no murder charges are expected to be filed, as Perry is presumed to have taken the ketamine himself.

The Whole Nine Yards actor was reportedly receiving ketamine treatments around the time of his death, but an autopsy ruled out that the drugs he’d taken could have been from his last treatment, which reportedly took place a week and a half before his October 28, 2023, passing.

Matthew Perry admitted to having abused ketamine in his memoir Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing, which came out a year before he died. He described it as feeling like he’d been “hit in the head with a giant happy shovel” and said “they might as well have called it ‘Matty.’”

It sounds like the authorities are prepared to hold multiple people accountable for supplying Matthew Perry with the drugs that reportedly led to his death, and possibly expose some of Hollywood’s seedy drug dealing methods.

The Friends actor's passing sparked an outpouring of love for the late actor, while the year following his death has been tied up in investigations surrounding the ketamine that was involved with his cause of death. His financials also had to be in order, considering his large accumulation of wealth from Friends' residuals and pay. Apparently, there was only $1.5 million in his bank account at the time of his death though, despite his net worth being over $120 million.

Matthew Perry’s Friends Pay Day

The payday for the Friends cast, especially by the end of the show, was extremely high. Their base pay in the first season was $22,500 per episode. However, after years and years of immense success, the cast ended up negotiating up to a million dollars an episode for the last few seasons. Apparently, the network considered Rachel and Ross to be the stars, because Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer were offered more, but they ended up taking pay cuts to ensure that each cast member was paid the same.

This would mean that with most of the Friends seasons being 22 episodes, each cast member was making $22 million per season, with the last season being $18 million, due to a decreased episode count. Series co-creator Marta Kauffman thought this was unreasonable, however with the amount of money the network was making from the hit series, it could be argued that the cast made a lot of money for other people, and should be compensated for that factor as well. It was the prime era for network sitcoms, and nothing will likely match the fanfare again.

Not only did Matthew Perry still hold on to whatever remained from his extremely lucrative Friends base pay, he also continued to receive royalties from the hit sitcom. Some estimates say the core Friends cast still made $19-20 million in royalties each year as the show continued to air on network television in syndication. While Perry still had other career opportunities after his days of playing Chandler Bing were over, it’s safe to say that much of his net worth can be credited to his Friends years.

Why Matthew Perry Only Had $1.5 Million In His Bank Account

Even with the Friends residuals still continuing to pay out, Perry had $1,596,914.47 in the bank at the time of his passing according to a report obtained by People.

However, the actor apparently had most of his assets tied up in an Alvy Singer Living Trust, that was created in 2009. These assets included any personal items, property insurance, automobiles, art, jewelry, etc, Us Weekly reported, and the beneficiaries were cited as his parents Suzanne Morrison and John Perry, as well as his half-siblings.

The full extent of Perry’s finances is unknown to the public, but it seems like he was prepared if anything should happen to him. The actor faced drug and alcohol addiction throughout his life, and he chronicled his experience in his memoir Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing. He didn’t have a spouse or children, but based on this report, his belongings went to the people who loved him most.

As the investigation into the death of Matthew Perry remains ongoing, the actor’s longtime Friends co-star Lisa Kudrow is remembering the good times. She recently shared that she has been rewatching the beloved comedy series in honor of the late actor, and she has a lot of sweet things to say about the sitcom in retrospect.

Kudrow played Phoebe Buffay alongside Matthew Perry’s Chandler Bing for 10 seasons and 236 episodes of Friends. Here’s what Kudrow recently said about how she’s looking back at her friend:

Kudrow got to experience all our favorite Friends moments in real-time, but now she is getting the chance to see the episodes we’ve seen over and over, and perhaps attach to those episodes that really made us Matthew Perry fans. While Lisa Kudrow spoke to THR about her time watching one of the best sitcoms, she also said this:

I don’t know what’s more embarrassing, Kudrow watching her work in one of the best sitcoms of all time, or me wanting to rewatch the whole series (probably for the 20th time) with my Max subscription? While many of us can’t say we have hours and hours of recordings of a decade of our life to look back on, I’m sure many of us would spend some time looking back on it if we did.

It’s sweet to hear Kudrow is returning to Friends following the death of Matthew Perry, who sadly was on the list of actors we lost in 2023. He died back in October at the age of 54 from the acute effects of the anesthetic ketamine. This week, the law enforcement looking into his death told People the investigation is “nearing its conclusion” and believes “multiple people” should be charged for the actor’s death.

Following the Friends finale in 2004, the core cast has remained close. Jennifer Aniston even said that she was texting Perry the morning of his death. When speaking about his memory, Lisa Kudrow shared this as well:

Despite the sadness that comes with knowing that the Friends cast will never be completely reunited again and Perry’s life was cut too short, the actor certainly has left behind an incredible legacy, between Friends and being an advocate for others who struggled with addiction like he did.

Lisa Kudrow’s words about Matthew Perry came as the actress stars in a new series called Time Bandits created by Taika Waititi, Jemaine Clement and Iain Morris. The fantasy adventure series premieres on the 2024 TV schedule for those with an Apple TV+ subscription on July 24.

When Matthew Perry died in October it was a shock to fans and friends alike. The actor drowned in a hot tub, an accident attributed to the fact that ketamine was found in Perry’s system. While the Friends star had been known to deal with substance abuse issues throughout his career, he was known to be proudly sober at the time of his death, leading some to wonder what had happened. Police have been investigating that question, which has reportedly led them to the door of actress Brooke Mueller.

Brooke Mueller has a small handful of screen credits but may be better known as the ex-wife of actor Charlie Sheen. Mueller has been dealing with her own substance abuse issues over the years, and it was apparently in rehab that Mueller met Matthew Perry and the pair formed a friendship. 

It’s unclear exactly what law enforcement may suspect, but InTouch Weekly reports that Mueller has spoken with authorities multiple times, leading to her hiring an attorney. The sober living facility where she currently resides has been searched, and police have taken a phone and a laptop from her. Police had a warrant, so there must have been something they believed they could find in the search of the room and the electronics, but it’s unclear if anything has been found. 

An “insider” told InTouch that Mueller isn’t saying much to anybody about the situation, beyond the fact that she is “adamant” she had nothing to do with Perry’s death. She has apparently been entirely forthcoming with authorities when questioned.

The criminal investigation is a joint operation between the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, the organizations are searching for exactly how Matthew Perry came into possession of the ketamine that led to his drowning. Perry had been using ketamine as part of a therapy regimen but the amount found in his body at the time was apparently far greater than what should have been in his system through the therapy alone.

Matthew Perry spoke openly about his substance abuse issues in his memoir which was published shortly before his death. In it, he specifically mentions ketamine as one of the drugs that he abused.

A report from People claims that law enforcement is close to the end of their investigation and that police expect to charge "multiple people." No names are mentioned as far as who may be facing charges, so whether Mueller could actually be one of them is unknown. If the report is accurate and the investigation is coming to a conclusion, then we will likely all have answers soon. 

Zac Efron’s latest role in Netflix’s A Family Affair has The Iron Claw star playing a fictional actor whom the public cannot get enough of. In one scene, his character, Chris Cole, is stopped in the midst of his assistant getting medical care by the doctor after she walks in on her boss getting intimate with her mother (played by Nicole Kidman). The medical professional gets completely sidetracked by Cole being there and stops to ask him how he did a specific scene in one of his movies. Of course, Efron must deal with this all the time!

So when I sat down with the actor and his co-star Joey King, I asked them what they have gotten stopped for that perhaps they were not expecting. Here’s how the answer played out:

Zac: “I think yeah, anything from when you're a lot younger. It's funny 'cause you like have to go back there in your mind.”

Joey: “Do people talk about 17 Again?”

Zac: “Yeah…”

Joey: “I thought it was special.”

Zac: “I mean that was such a fun experience to work with. Matthew Perry of course was magical and a lot of people wanna know what John Travolta was like for Hairspray.

Joey: [Goes into impression of him] “And, I am Link!”

Zac: “I think I did that like a hundred times.”

Joey: “I love it so much.”

Zac: “That was so fun. Such a dork.”

Joey: “No, it’s my favorite every time. It's so funny, literally when that movie came out, I screamed when you did that. I was like ‘Ah!’”

Zac: "Aw, you made my day."

A “dork”? Excuse me?!!? Much like myself, Joey King grew up at a time when Zac Efron was the heartthrob of heartthrobs. It, of course, started with the phenomenon of the High School Musical movies and continued to grow as he booked more Hollywood roles.

Efron shared that the “deep cut” references that people come up to him about that often shock him have to do with what he did in his younger years, because at this point, that was a long time ago for him. But I’m absolutely shocked that the actor thinks of himself as a “dork” and actually hid his face in embarrassment over mention of the role. It goes to show that no matter who you are, we’re all dealing with our own stories in our heads about not being good enough. That being said, it was funny to see Efron cringe a tad about his younger self, because don’t we all?

Joey King jumped in to ask if asking about 17 Again is popular, which definitely seemed to be the case. It also feels like following the death of Matthew Perry last year, more people, including himself, treasure that film. As Efron pointed out, he’s approached quite a bit for his role in 2007’s Hairspray, particularly for co-starring in one of John Travolta’s best movies. I think a rewatch of Hairspray is in order!

Jennifer Aniston Gets Emotional Thinking About Friends 

Jennifer Aniston sat down with Abbott Elementary’s Quinta Brunson for Variety’s Actors on Actors series, and the two talked about their respective hit sitcoms. At a producer’s suggestion that Brunson ask Aniston what it’s like to watch Friends now, Aniston immediately became emotional. Brunson asked her if she wanted to take a minute, but she insisted she was OK. Aniston said: 

The actress, who played Rachel Green on the Must See TV series alongside a main cast that also included Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer, seemed overwhelmed by the emotion, and it’s impossible to know what memory specifically caused Jennifer Aniston to have such a reaction. 

This was far from the first time Friends memories have gotten to Jennifer Aniston, though. After Friends: The Reunion aired in 2021, she recalled that it was “so creepy” how everything on the set was exactly the same, and admitted that she had to walk out at certain points to gather herself.

Jennifer Aniston said it was wild to think that it was 30 years ago when America first saw Rachel run into Central Perk, soaking wet in a wedding dress, because she remembers that day — September 22, 1994 — so clearly. She recalled: 

There is something so heart-warming about the fact that after everything that cast went through together over those 10 years and everything that’s happened in the two decades since the series finale, that prank from the day the show premiered is one of the memories that sticks out for Jennifer Aniston.

Without a doubt, many of Friends’ most hilarious quotes came from Chandler Bing, thanks to the brilliant delivery and comedic timing of the late Matthew Perry. It seems it wasn’t just the words on the page that the actor could make funny, either, as it’s been revealed that one specific Season 4 scene provided the opportunity for a hilarious real-life reaction. Knowing that this pantless Chandler moment was, in fact, not written into the script makes it all the funnier — especially given Jennifer Aniston’s priceless expression.

In “The One With the ‘Cuffs,” Chandler finds himself in quite the pickle during a visit to Rachel’s office to see her boss Joanna (Alison La Placa), who he’d been dating. Joanna gets called away, but rather than allowing Chandler to leave with her, she handcuffs him sans pants in her office, forcing him to recruit Rachel to set him free. If you watched that scene back in 1997 (or more recently via Max subscription) and wondered how Matthew Perry could pull off hitting himself in the head with a filing cabinet without flinching, well, it’s because he supposedly really wasn’t expecting that to happen. That looked like a pretty brutal hit, and it must have hurt, given the actor’s facial expression as he clenched his fist in disbelief. 

Speaking of disbelief, though, the caption alongside this clip alleges that Rachel’s shock was, in fact, Jennifer Aniston’s actual reaction to Matthew Perry’s unscripted head bang. Rather than respond to Chandler’s plea for help, Rachel’s hands fly up to her face as she seems to watch his face for signs that he’s OK. 

The scene was already a classic one, thanks in part to Chandler being in a particularly vulnerable position due to not having his pants. After he cries for Rachel’s colleague Sophie to help him, Jennifer Aniston’s character shoves a tie in his mouth as a gag, which he pointedly spits out to prove its ineffectiveness. However, knowing that the drawer wasn't supposed to pop out and clock Matthew Perry in the head makes it so much better, and I admit I’ve rewatched that clip quite a few times to laugh at both actors’ raw reactions. 

Friends fans have gotten some good behind-the-scenes revelations about the beloved sitcom over the years, including the story behind Joey’s classic “Could I BE wearing any more clothes?” moment and why we never saw Ugly Naked Guy’s face. This scene from Season 4 highlights just how funny the six cast members were together and how tragic it is that Matthew Perry’s death means they'll never share a stage all together again. 

The 20th anniversary of the Friends finale is approaching, and while Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc reportedly aren’t sure how to move forward without their compatriot, we can continue to enjoy Matthew Perry and all of the actors' performances by streaming the series anew.

They have group chats and will get together one-on-one, with Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox apparently being in “constant contact.” The insider said Matthew Perry’s October 2023 passing was a wakeup call for the other five friends, explaining: 

The fact that they have Friends to thank for their success and the relationships formed through that shared 10-year experience isn’t lost on them, and that’s why they “most certainly” will be commemorating the May 6 anniversary. The source continued: 

The Friends cast paid tribute to Matthew Perry with a touching message after his death, and it will be interesting to see how they decide to handle this first big milestone fpr the show.
