Jimmy Kimmel is taking a break from his late-night TV duties for the summer again, and in his place, a series of guest hosts will each fill in for a week. One of the fill-ins being brought in for Jimmy Kimmel Live! is none other than actress, comedian and media personality Rosie O’Donnell, and her hiring is garnering a lot of attention. Some individuals on certain ends of the political spectrum have had strong reactions to O’Donnell joining the show. Now, an expert is weighing in on the alleged principle behind the move.

O’Donnell’s guest host stint was announced by Kimmel during the June 18th broadcast of his titular talk show, at which point he revealed his other replacements for his two-month vacation. At the time, the host quipped that as a “special treat” for U.S. President Donald Trump, he was bringing in “one of his all-time favorites,” Rosie O’Donnell, to “keep the hooks coming.” Kimmel’s comments were meant to reference the fact that O’Donnell had historically been critical of the president like himself.

Public relations expert Christopher Lee – of the Foresight Strategies Firm – recently weighed in on Kimmel’s decision to bring in O’Donnell. While speaking with OK! Magazine, Lee said there were allegedly some key factors that went into Kimmel’s rationale for adding O’Donnell to the guest host list:

O’Donnell also has her fair share of experience when it comes to hosting talk shows, as she headlined her own eponymous series from 1996 to 2002 and won multiple Daytime Emmy Awards. Then, in 2006, O’Donnell became a panelist on ABC’s The View, where she feuded with co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck and got into heated discussions with others as well. O’Donnell eventually left the show in 2007 and has since been reluctant to return. Her experience and dissatisfaction with President Trump aside, the Harriet the Spy alum also seems to have respect for Kimmel, who she welcomed back after his suspension in 2025.

Among the most vocal opponents of Rosie O’Donnell hosting Kimmel is political pundit Megyn Kelly, who reacted to the news on an episode of her podcast. Kelly called the roster of hosts – which also includes Colman Domingo, Tiffany Haddish, Ike Barinholtz, Anthony Anderson and Jelly Roll – as a “litany of left-wing comedians.” Yet Kelly specifically took issue with O’Donnell’s inclusion and laid out past political comments she’d made. As of this writing, neither O’Donnell nor Kimmel have responded to Kelly’s sentiments.

This summer break comes from Kimmel after what’s been an eventful set of months for him and his staff. As previously alluded to, Kimmel’s show was suspended indefinitely in September 2025 after he made comments in regard to Charlie Kirk’s death. Disney reinstated the series days later after holding internal discussions with Kimmel. More recently, Kimmel joked about First Lady Melania Trump looking like a widow ahead of the alleged assasination attempt at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, and he received backlash after the fact.

As for what Jimmy Kimmel Live! viewers can expect from these upcoming episodes, that remains to be seen. Tiffany Haddish and Anthony Anderson have hosted the show before, though Rosie O’Donnell, Colman Domingo and others are newcomers to leading the program. The stream of fill-in hosts begins with Haddish on July 6th at 11:35 p.m. ET, and O’Donnell will take to the desk, starting on August 17th amid the 2026 TV schedule.

As of late, Jimmy Kimmel Live! has been embroiled in yet another situation involving the U.S. government. Kimmel received backlash from President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump after he made comments on air about the latter looking like an “expectant widow.” Those comments were made during a monologue that aired ahead of the reported White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting situation. Kimmel has since defended his comments and, now, media pundit Megyn Kelly is weighing in on the controversy.

Kelly discussed the Kimmel situation during a recent episode of her eponymous show (which was posted to YouTube). It was during that same installment that Kelly invited comedian Adam Carolla, who notably defended Kimmel’s remarks on a separate occasion. While diving into the topic, Kelly noted the fact that President Trump was calling for Kimmel to be fired from his late-night post amid the 2026 TV schedule. From there, the former Fox News pundit said this while addressing Carolla:

Jimmy Kimmel made his comment during a faux White House Correspondents' Dinner roast featured during the opening monologue of his April 23rd broadcast. While the segment didn’t initially seem to garner much attention, the backlash ensued after a man subsequently appeared at the real Correspondents’ Dinner with multiple guns and allegedly sought to kill the president. Since then, Donald Trump and others have been adamant about ABC and Disney firing Kimmel.

Eventually, the Federal Communications Commission – or FCC – issued some advice for Disney. Commission chairman Brendan Carr specifically suggested that the House of Mouse take steps to apply for broadcast licences for the eight ABC stations it currently owns. This request is related to an investigation involving ABC and Disney’s alleged violations of the government’s new DEI regulations. Now, given the FCC’s move, the renewal deadline has been set at May 28, which marks an early renewal benchmark, as 2028 was previously the earliest point at which those processes would be necessary.

As previously alluded to, this isn’t the first time Jimmy Kimmel has drawn the ire of President Trump or a response from Brendan Carr. All of them were tied within the same headlines last fall when Kimmel’s show was suspended indefinitely due to comments he made that were related to the death of political pundit Charlie Kirk. Said suspension also came down after Carr suggested that ABC’s broadcast licence could be revoked as a result of the comments. While Trump also called for Kimmel’s firing, the host’s show was eventually reinstated.

Jimmy Kimmel received support during that first broadcast brouhaha, with some right-leaning media personalities even backing him as well. What’s particularly notable about Megyn Kelly’s support this time around is that she called for Kimmel’s firing during the first situation. Kelly has also notably called out Kimmel and other hosts for the way in which they convey their political opinions on air. Still, Kelly’s recent comments suggest she’s in Kimmel’s corner this time, and time will tell how others might weigh in as well.

After Savannah Guthrie's mother went missing, the Today anchor took a two-month leave of absence from the show that airs daily on the 2026 TV schedule. Then, on April 6, she was warmly welcomed back to the NBC show, but apparently, the network had much higher expectations for how audiences would react to her homecoming than what actually took place.

When scooper Rob Shuter guested on The Megyn Kelly Show this week, he shared some new information about how NBC allegedly handled Savannah Guthrie’s return in anticipation of more eyes on the talk show, and how they were let down. In his words:

Instead, on the day Guthrie was welcomed back to Today, viewership went up 6% among viewers 55 and up and 2% among demo viewers (aged 25-54). That’s certainly not enough of a bump to mean much, and it goes to show that Guthrie’s return wasn’t the event NBC was apparently hoping for. As Shuter also added:

It certainly doesn’t help that there are still a lot of questions left unanswered over the situation with Savannah Guthrie’s mom, Nancy. She still hasn’t been found, and an investigation remains underway. Perhaps there would have been a lot of fanfare if Nancy had been found and could have joined her daughter in her return, but Savannah is returning to work while the circumstances around her mother's investigation are still up in the air and unresolved.

The investigation of Nancy Guthrie has entered its 84th day without a named suspect. A trial date has been set for Derrick Callella, the man who has been charged with sending Savannah Guthrie a fake ransom text following her mother's disappearance, per Yahoo.

The journalist and author pointed out that another possible reason things didn’t go as planned is because morning talk show hosts aren’t the celebrities that they used to be. He recalled having dinner with Katie Couric and Matt Lauer and the restaurant “buzzing”, whilst when he walked with Guthrie down the street, heads didn’t turn as much.

Guthrie’s return to Today might not have been what NBC “wanted,” but it was quite touching with her and Hoda Kotb getting to reunite on the talk show together when Craig Melvin went on vacation after her former co-host frequently took her place in her absence.

The View is experiencing some interesting times as several guest hosts have been tapped to fill in temporarily for Alyssa Farah Griffin. There was initially some backlash when former co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck was revealed as one of the replacements, and her week on the Emmy-winning talk show has indeed included some fireworks. Hasselbeck used her return to TV to lob some insults at Megyn Kelly, and her fellow former Fox News anchor didn’t hold back in her response.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who was a regular conservative voice on The View from 2003 to 2013, was back this week, and she had strong opinions about some of Megyn Kelly’s comments about the recent strikes on Iran. Hasselbeck asked, “How dare you, Megyn Kelly?” and the political podcaster was quick to brush off the criticism, as she shot back (via the Daily Mail):

Elisabeth Hasselbeck announced her exit from The View in 2013, but she later admitted she’d actually been fired by ABC, reportedly after an on-air argument with Barbara Walters and Joy Behar in which Hasselbeck ripped up her notecards and initially refused to go back on stage during a commercial break because Walters had “reprimanded” her on the air.

Megyn Kelly seemed to reference how things went down for Hasselbeck on The View, saying:

Elisabeth Hasselbeck joined Fox & Friends but left in 2015, effectively retiring from TV.

The View historically hasn’t always been the most welcoming space for Republicans or those with more conservative political leanings — and that’s in the rare event that they do bring on a conservative guest. Perhaps it’s a bit shocking, then, that arguably the loudest criticism is coming from another conservative anchor.

Alyssa Farah Griffin offered advice for the Republicans filling her seat before she left, making for a full-circle moment, as she echoed some of what Elisabeth Hasselbeck had told her when she joined The View full time in 2022.

While this week has certainly seen some tense moments, not all of the conservative-leaning guest host appearances have led to fiery exchanges. Savannah Chrisley expected things to go south when she took a seat at the table, even issuing a warning to the co-hosts based on things they’d previously said about her parents.

However, Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar weren’t the “pain” Savannah Chrisley thought they would be, and she ended up saying they had a “blast.” We’ll have to see how Elisabeth Hasselbeck describes her week once she’s had a chance to debrief, but given the heated exchange with Megyn Kelly, I’m not expecting it to be wholly positive.

As it so often goes, this year's Super Bowl has continued making headlines for far more than just sports or the actual football game at the center of it all. Bad Bunny's halftime show, despite being widely viewed as being an entertaining and culturally relevant during vitriolic times, has remained a spear in the side of those who have been crying foul since the globally renowned artist was first announced. The ever outspoken Megyn Kelly was not pleased in the slightest, and called out fellow conservative Meghan McCain for sharing an iota of positivity.

McCain, who also has a history of speaking out against things she disagrees with (such as her former colleagues at The View and the current state of daytime television as a whole), surprised many of her followers and beyond by sharing a message that supported Bad Bunny and the highly touted halftime show, albeit in a stance-taking way. As she put it on X:

Arguably just as surprisingly, UK conservative TV mainstay Piers Morgan chimed in with a likeminded message, which she reposted. As he put it:

McCain shared a couple of other responses that aligned with her own, but as one can imagine, Megyn Kelly's reaction was not one of them.

How Megyn Kelly Reacted To Meghan McCain's Support For Bad Bunny

Megyn Kelly took to social media on Super Bowl Sunday and the following day to share negative takes on Bad Bunny's performance, such as those calling him out for singing in Spanish, and she didn't refrain from taking a shot at McCain in the process, reposting the Arizona native's message and tacking her own onto it, saying:

Unsurprisingly, that led to a lot of her followers following suit and dunking on McCain, Bad Bunny and whatever else happened to be stuck in their craw at the time. The sentiment "everything in life doesn’t have to be ruined with politics" does not seem to be a sentiment that social media users can adhere to while conscious.

Though he publicly agreed with Meghan McCain, Piers Morgan invited Megyn Kelly onto his show to share her thoughts on the halftime show.

Just in the past two months or so, Kelly has unloaded negative opinions about Bruce Willis and her former NBC colleague Al Roker, and she called out late night talk show hosts Jimmy Kimmel and Seth Meyers, not long after getting dragged into Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni's lawsuit controversy, at which point she called Lively a "narcissistic, liar, bully, brat."

There’s no question that President Donald Trump has taken aim at late night television, while many of the hosts on late night television have thrown jabs at everything from the current administration to even those White House Ballroom changes. Surprisingly, former late night host Conan O’Brien recently explained why he feels “getting so angry” over politics while onstage can take over one’s personality and can be a dangerous game to play. This in turn, prompted Megyn Kelly to weigh in on Conan’s thoughts, but also late night TV in general.

What Did Conan O’Brien Say About ‘F–k Donald Trump’

You may have seen the headlines already. A few days ago, Conan O’Brien spoke at an event for Oxford Union where the TV and Internet personality declared it’s a bit dangerous to devote one’s entire personality to “f–k Donald Trump.”

He said it’s the job of a comedian to channel that anger into something that’s a little more thought-provoking and edgy or you are in danger of simply not being funny anymore.

Conan doesn’t feel it’s the job of a comedian to be so serious, but lots of people on the Internet are now taking his comments and weighing in, tying them to late night hosts like Seth Meyers, Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel in particular. Megyn Kelly's the latest example, and she recently spoke out on her own platform The Megyn Kelly Show.

How Megyn Kelly Feels About Late Night (And Conan O’Brien’s Opinions)

Megyn Kelly told podcaster Link Lauren that when she was watching Conan’s comments, she felt it was clear he was taking aim at the three late night hosts: Seth Meyers, Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert.

Jimmy Fallon largely escapes Ms. Kelly’s wrath unscathed. While he occasionally does make a Trump joke, tonally Fallon isn’t interested in getting political on his late night show outside of the occasional monologue dig. He’s better known for playing silly games with celebrities than making pointed statements, and he's been open about why The Tonight Show doesn't get political in the past.

However, Kelly went hard on her critique of some of the other late night hosts. Yet back in 2011, she actually appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and told a gracious story about being invited to the White House to meet with then President Obama and his wife Michelle.

More than a decade later, she's less civil about the late night host after he compared his viral suspension from ABC to a "near death experience." She spent another chunk of her show calling Jimmy Kimmel “this multimillionaire privileged asshole” who was “off the air” for all of “five days,” but was complaining nonetheless. This comes after she commented on his return to late night in September, saying at that time she felt that because of Kimmel's politics, he got reinstated rather than "cancelled."

This isn't the only time the host has been on a tear against Tinseltown, recently complaining about Bruce Willis and other Hollywood celebs she had negative interactions with. She said here it's become a "Trump bashing session" with the entertainment crowd, and this seems to be her way of responding.

Meanwhile, while Kelly seemed to identify Conan O'Brien as talking about late night hosts, O'Brien is a former late night host himself, and even recently gave Stephen Colbert advice about what's next after ending his show.

Megyn Kelly is known for her no-holds-barred opinions, but it was still surprising when she outed a whole slew of the most "unhappy” celebrities she’s interviewed in Hollywood. The list was varied and included a-list actors all the way down to one beloved journalist. Yes, I’m talking about Al Roker. And no I didn’t see his name coming, but they do have a past.

Some A-Listers Megyn Kelly Claims Are More Naughty Than Nice

Kelly was asked by The Daily Mail about some negative interactions she’s had over the years. Unsurprisingly, she had opinions, but it was still a bit surprising to see her openly name drop some of her bad interactions, one of which came from Jane Fonda and Robert Redford when they were promoting Our Souls at Night. She said she had a tough time navigating through the fact Redford refused to talk about their sex scenes, but Fonda wanted to:

Both Fonda and Redford are Hollywood legends, but she also told the outlet they weren’t the only legends to really be tough on her during her time on the air. Bruce Willis has been more out of the public limelight and has retired from acting since his Aphasia diagnosis (though wife Emma Heming Willis has been a champion of research for the cause, and has been candid about the 'blessing and curse' with Willis' diagnosis).

However, in his heyday, he was apparently not-so-easy to deal with. Megyn Kelly said Bruce Willis agreed to go on Fox News, despite having a different political take than many of the anchors there, and she noted it was awkward overall. Said Kelly:

However, of all the people Kelly name-dropped as having a bad attitude toward her, I did not see one fellow broadcaster coming.

NBC's Al Roker Made Megyn Kelly’s List

Al Roker is one of America’s Darlings. He’s known for being well-liked and affable on NBC’s Today. He publicly weathered a health scare that kept him from the show for a while, and kept a positive attitude throughout the ordeal. He’s a cheery guy… at least when on camera. Kelly was a little reticent to be as specific about Al Roker’s specific issues, but she made a comparison most people could understand.

Megyn Kelly currently runs her own podcast “The Megyn Kelly Show,” but prior to these she was an anchor for Fox News from 2004-2017 during an era where people’s political opinions became more polarizing. She left Fox for NBC News after the scandal with Roger Ailes, working for the same network Al Roker worked for at the time. From her Dershowitz (a conservative) bumping into Larry David (a liberal) comment, it sounds like Kelly felt Mr. Roker was not super warm or welcome to her.

We do know that Al Roker publicly called out Ms. Kelly amidst the backlash after she claimed blackface within the context of Halloween costumes is OK. She later left NBC to go it alone.

In my personal experience, celebrities run the gamut. They can be consistently nice or consistently not, though many might have different moods on different days. I’ve experienced celebrities who are totally nice and engaged for one movie and irritated for others, and we don’t know if the experiences Kelly had with certain celebrities might have changed over time. We also don’t know if she interacted with some of these people multiple times. Suffice to say, we all have had exchanges with people that may not have gone as planned. Yet, in the journalist’s case, there’s more tea simply because she’s dealing with famous people on a day-to-day basis.

Despite It Ends With us arriving in theaters a year ago, the drama surrounding this book to screen adaptation continues. The movie (which is streaming with a Netflix subscription) has become synonymous with lawsuits, beginning with Blake Lively's complaint against Wayfarer Studios. Recently Megyn Kelly went on air and claimed she was subpoenaed related to the case, and now the actress' lawyers have responded.

Megyn Kelly didn't hold back when complaining about allegedly being subpoenaed, calling Lively names like "narcissistic" and a "bully brat". This story quickly went viral, eventually leading the Gossip Girl star to respond via her legal team. A spokesperson issued a statement to Deadline, which reads:

This certainly seems very cut and dry. Although I have to wonder what inspired Kelly's already-viral rant about Lively if she wasn't actually issued a subpoena. The TV personality isn't one to hold her tongue, so I assume we'll get a response from her camp soon enough.

While Justin Baldoni's defamation case was tossed out by the judge, the long legal saga between him and Lively is showing no signs of slowing down. He was actually named by Lively's lawyers later in the same comment, which reads:

Despite what legal wins have occurred, this makes it clear that Blake Lively is single-minded in continuing the legal battle against Baldoni and the other parties named above. And she's made some serious allegations, about what happened on set as well as what happened after she started speaking out.

While Lively's team maintains that Megyn Kelly isn't actually involved or subpoenaed, they did offer more context in what their ongoing mission is, as well as how the legal process works. The statement continues:

These comments come just hours after Megyn Kelly claimed on her Sirius XM show that she was sent legal paperwork by Blake Lively's lawyers. She spoke for over ten minutes about the actress, calling her "a sad, pathetic, untalented, narcissistic bully." She claimed she wasn't involved in any chatter with the It Ends With Us director, saying:

Kelly cited freedom of press, and claimed that Blake Lively had no right to see how she gathers information for her show. But the Green Lantern actress' lawyers claim that the former lawyer was never actually subpoenaed in relation to the ongoing legal battle with those involved in It Ends With Us.

From an outside view it's hard to tell what is the truth here. But it is clear that Blake Lively is going to continue making headlines related to this situation as it plays out. Megyn Kelly is an outspoken pundit, so her segment has only gotten more eyes on the situation

The latest update in the ongoing legal battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni stemming from the production of the movie It Ends With Us has come from a somewhat unlikely source. Megyn Kelly just revealed that she had been battling a subpoena in court that Lively’s team had served, and now she’s completely unloading on the actress.

Speaking Sirius XM's The Megyn Kelly Show, the host revealed that Lively had reportedly subpoenaed several podcasts and other shows that had covered the ongoing legal battle, and Kelly's show was one of them. Kelly said…

Last year’s romantic drama It Ends With Us was a surprise box office hit, but a lot of the headlines surrounding the film were focused on the press tour and the fact that, Justin Baldoni, who also directed the film, and Blake Lively, who also produced it, were rarely, if ever, seen together. Stories began to come out regarding tension on the set.

These came to a head when Blake Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni for sexual harassment. Baldoni countersued Lively, as well as her husband, Ryan Reynolds, and the New York Times, which published a major story on the topic. In June, Baldoni’s lawsuits were thrown out by a judge.

Megyn Kelly’s lawyer is Bryan Freedman, the same attorney who is representing Baldoni in Lively's sexual harassment suit against him. The host claimed that Lively’s subpoenas were focused on getting communications dealing with Kelly’s reporting on the lawsuit, based on the belief that there may have been some sort of collusion between the parties to paint Blake Lively in a negative light. Kelly insisted that wasn’t the case, while doubling down on the negative language, saying…

According to Kelly, Blake Lively’s team missed a deadline to file paperwork regarding the subpoena, and for that reason, the subpoena was killed. The host went on to claim that Lively, as well Ryan Reynolds, were “bullies” who went after her, as well as other podcasters, who didn’t have the means to defend themselves in court, as punishment for negative coverage.

Kelly drew attention to other times she felt Blake Lively had been a “bully,” including an old interview with Lively that went viral following the lawsuit. Near the end of the segment, Kelly made her opinion quite clear, saying...

Megyn Kelly clearly doesn’t believe the allegations against Justin Baldoni made in Blake Lively’s lawsuit. In the end, it will really only matter what a court thinks. The suit is set to go in front of a judge next spring.

As the public gets excited for Season 4 of The Boys, because the beloved Prime Video series is expected to return this year, one of its stars, Erin Moriarty, is dealing with backlash surrounding allegations made by Megyn Kelly about her getting plastic surgery. After the former Fox News anchor condemned the actress for allegedly getting plastic surgery, Moriarty took to Instagram to fire back and explain why those claims were false and why she’s decided to leave social media. 

What Megyn Kelly Said About Erin Moriarty

During an episode of The Megyn Kelly Show, the former Fox News anchor spoke at length about plastic surgery and the negatives she believes come of it. She said:

She then showed a photo of Moriarty that she claimed was “relatively recent,” and then another photo saying the actress had “Kim Kardashian lips,” “made her nose so skinny it looks like a pencil now” and claimed that she had “cheek implants.”  Kelly went on to say that she sees plastic surgery as a sign of “mental illness” and “extremely upsetting.”  The video is 11 minutes long, and it features the anchor speaking at length about her disdain for plastic surgery.

Now, The Boys cast member has responded, slamming Kelly’s claims, and explaining why she will be leaving social media. 

How Erin Moriarty Responded And Why She’s Leaving Social Media

After hearing about the comments Megyn Kelly made about her, Erin Moriarty took to social media to directly call her out. She made it clear that the allegations against her are false, and she said that everything that’s happened has made her decide to leave social media. She wrote, in part, on Instagram:

Moriarty then went on to write about the second photo Kelly showed, and explained how she’s wearing makeup, and did not have surgery. She also addressed other negative comments:

The actress said she wanted to use social media to connect with fans, however, this situation has left her “horrified.” Moriarty continued:

The statement is detailed, and Erin Moriarty made her frustration and sadness about the whole thing clear.

Jo Koy got absolutely roasted for the monologue he delivered to open the Golden Globe Awards on January 7. After apparently taking the gig on short notice, the comedian resorted to blaming the writers for giving him bad jokes when his commentary on Barbie’s “big boobies” and Robert De Niro becoming a father again at age 79 drew less-than-enthused reactions from its audience. A joke about Taylor Swift, in particular, seemed to annoy the musician, and people including Megyn Kelly and the co-hosts on The View had some strong opinions about her reaction.

In his speech to kick off the 81st Golden Globe Awards, Jo Koy referenced Taylor Swift’s frequent presence at Kansas City Chiefs games, where she has been cheering on boyfriend Travis Kelce. Koy joked that the difference between the awards show and the NFL was that, “at the Golden Globes, we have fewer shots of Taylor Swift.” When the camera cut to the Eras Tour star, she remained expressionless as she took a sip of her drink. Megyn Kelly didn’t hold back her feelings about Swift’s “death glare,” and in a clip from The Megyn Kelly Show, she said:

While Travis Kelce has even admitted that the NFL got a little overexcited about Taylor Swift’s appearances — and even took part in a Saturday Night Live sketch on the topic when the couple made surprise cameos — Swift pointed out that to Time magazine that she isn’t the one who determines how often the camera cuts to her during football games and has no idea when she’s “pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads.”

Megyn Kelly’s assertion that Taylor Swift should have had a sense of humor and humility at the Golden Globes was echoed to some degree in a segment on The View, as Sara Haines said: 

Rather than critiquing Taylor Swift’s reaction, The View co-hosts focused more on defending Jo Koy, who made history Sunday as the first Filipino-American to host the awards show. Whoopi Goldberg spoke from experience when she pointed out that those ceremonies are a tough gig — something that Koy admitted in the aftermath of the show.

Jo Koy responded to the backlash over his hosting duties, pointing out that hosting is a different beast than stand-up comedy, and in regards to Taylor Swift, he said he was trying to take “more of a jab toward the NFL. But it just didn’t come out that way.”

It was a sad day when Ziwe fans learned the satirical talk show had been canceled by Showtime after two seasons earlier this year. Interestingly, that wasn’t the first time the titular comedian faced (an attempted) cancellation, as media personality Megyn Kelly apparently tried to do that to her in real life. Years after that, the TV personality gave a funny take on the situation.

It was reported by Vice in 2021 that Megyn Kelly (who's called out Chrissy Teigen and more stars) posted a message to her Twitter account displaying a letter written by a fellow parent from Spence, a private girls' school in New York. The mother was upset over an episode from Showtime's late-night talk show that featured a discussion about white women. The parent felt the episode was inappropriate and amplified “hate speech against white women.” The former Fox News personality was as upset well, calling the episode “grossly racist.” Kelly revealed she and the other mother pulled their daughters from the school over “growing far-left indoctrination” following the episode’s airing.

The political pundits efforts to get Ziwe Fumudoh canceled was brought up during a panel discussion at the New Yorker Festival (via The Observer). The TV writer was asked if she feared cancel culture over the explicit nature of her content. The question made her recall the uproar caused by the SiriusXM host. She put things in perspective by mentioning that she had no control over which episode the school chose to present to the student body. Of course, in typical fashion, the humorous interviewer took the ordeal in stride, saying:

In fairness, it was the private school’s choice to show the polarizing episode, not the host's. The school's reason for showing the clip remains unclear, interestingly enough. Maybe the institution wanted to air something funny to end the school year or simply show it as a supplemental piece of material for academic purposes. Given the show’s raunchiness, it’s honestly surprising that the administration chose to show a clip from the Showtime comedy series. Regardless of what initiated this whole situation, you have to appreciate the comic's sense of humor on the matter.

The moment ultimately passed, and Ziwe kept doing the “rude” interview-style show until its cancellation. Her self-titled show received favorable reviews during its two-season run. It spawned multiple viral moments featuring celebrities like the Joker-emulating Chet Hanks and Drew Barrymore. The comedian has proven to be quite resourceful and, with her talents, she'll likely be back on the small screen sooner rather than later. As for how Megyn Kelly or anyone else who'd want to cancel her would feel, that remains to be seen.

Nicola Peltz and Brooklyn Beckham went out for date night over the weekend. On the way to dinner in Los Angeles, paparazzi snapped photos of the pair, who married last year. He had on a suit coat and pants with a tee underneath while she wore a see-through black dress with nothing but underwear underneath. Photos of the two rolled around the interwebs and former Fox News and Today host Megyn Kelly did not seem to approve. 

The catsuit was long-sleeved and made of a mesh material that was very sheer outside of its neck region, which featured thicker fabric. She paired it with a black bra and black underwear, as well as some knee high black boots. The Daily Mail reported the dress “left little to the imagination” and from what Megyn Kelly said on her own Twitter post, she seemingly doesn't feel that's a positive descriptor. The podcast host of The Megyn Kelly Show actually took to social media to re-headline the article titling it:

The post has since gone viral, with more than 8,000 likes at the time of this writing and hundreds of retweets as well. However, some fans defended the outfit, writing things like “It’s obviously working” and “I literally wore that to Trader Joe’s yesterday.” 

One can certainly see Ms. Peltz’s undergarments in this post, but the timing for Megyn Kelly to be upset about the sheer look is coming at an odd time. First of all,  the see-through dress has been a staple in closets for a couple of years now, and it’s been making appearances on red carpets a lot in the last year. Another Megan –Fox in this case – debuted a naked dress at the VMAs in 2022, kicking off the year of the naked dress. 

Some of the outfits that have gone viral as part of this trend have been even edgier as the “free the nipple” movement has taken form. Valentino and Florence Pugh were at the cutting edge of this trend, as she went bra-free in a sheer pink dress for a fashion show event and later in several other creations that were also see-through. Other big names such as The Little Mermaid's Halle Bailey have gone similarly sheer on a variety of red carpets, including at this year’s Oscars.

Now, it seems the look has been shifted down to more casual dinner date fashion.

In general, Ms. Kelly has a fairly conservative wardrobe and favors a lot of maxi dresses and looks that cover her shoulders in her personal life and on the air. However, she’s dealt with the Internet calling out her fashion prior. In 2016, she wore a dress that had internet users calling her an “escort” and a “cocktail waitress” simply because it was a spaghetti strapped dress she wore on the air for an interview on Fox News. 

Yet, Kelly has made a career out of saying exactly what she’s thinking in a given moment. Sometimes it works out for the former TV host, but other times it can lead to controversy, such as when she left NBC after sharing Halloween blackface opinions or when John Legend clapped back after she called out Chrissy Teigen. 

One thing seems certain, however. It’s unlikely that Megyn Kelly will be one of the women championing the see-through dress movement anytime soon.

The controversies surrounding former 19 Kids and Counting cast member Josh Duggar remain some of the most disturbing in all of reality TV. Years before he was arrested on child pornography charges (that he was later convicted of), he was accused of molesting several of his younger sisters as a teenager, which sparked TLC to cancel the Duggar family’s initial series. Amazon Studios’ new docuseries Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets dives back into that scandalous time while also highlighting the abusive practices of the Institute in Basic Life Principles. At the time, the family went into face-saving mode, and daughter Jill Duggar Dillard talked out her regrets about being interviewed by Megyn Kelly at the time in defense of her brother.

Back in 2015, Megyn Kelly was two years away from leaving Fox News for NBC, and she welcomed Jill and Jessa Duggar onto The Kelly File to talk about and defend their brother. Looking back, it’s likely not a decision that Jill would make the same way if she had it to do over again, and her husband Derick Dillard bluntly called it a no-win situation in the docuseries, saying (via L.A. Times): 

While Jill and Jessa's interview with Megyn Kelly wasn't nearly as notorious as the one had with parents Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, it still caused quite a stir for several of the comments made therein, such as both women saying they didn't view Josh as a child molester for his private actions, and that they didn't feel Josh to be a hypocrite for his holier-than-thou public behavior. 

Speaking in Shiny Happy People, Jill Duggar Dillard says there was pressure from others to take the interviews with a defiant stance, so that TLC might decide to stick with 19 Kids in some capacity. (The network later brought some of the family back for Counting On, which itself was canceled ahead of Josh Duggar's child pornography trial.) In Jill's words:

To the point of volunteering, Jill Duggar Dillard (who'd just had her first child at 24 just two months before the Kelly interview) did make a point of saying with her sister that they wanted the interview to happen, and that it wasn't something that they were coerced into by producers. But it sounds like there was still quite a bit of pressure being put on them to do it, even if it wasn't a requirement, so to speak. She continued:

Jill and Derick Dillard started distancing themselves from the rest of the Duggar clan in the years after dropping out of Counting On in 2017, with the daughter's behavior adapting more to traditional life outside the IBLP, by way of clothing choices, drinking a bit of alcohol and more.

Megyn Kelly has made headlines more than a few times over the years for making controversial statements. In some cases, the media personality – who formerly worked at Fox News and NBC – has criticized other public figures. She called out Meghan Markle for referring to Prince Harry as her “husband” and called Trevor Noah a “ratings killer” ahead of his exit from The Daily Show. Kelly even drew the ire of Debra Messing after she made Will & Grace-related jokes during an interview. More recently, Kelly critiqued Chrissy Teigen over her appearance at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner and said she wasn’t “relevant.” This led the star’s husband, John Legend, to clap back.

What Did Megyn Kelly Say About Chrissy Teigen?

The 52-year-old media personality made the statements during an installment of her SiriusXM podcast. At the time, she was discussing her issues with the annual press-centered event mentioned above. The former Kelly File host used Chrissy Teigen to illustrate her belief that the dinner has dipped in terms of quality. She ultimately zeroed in on Teigen’s dress, claiming that it was inappropriate for the occasion. The analyst also criticized the fact that Teigen and John Legend were accompanied by three “minions” who were holding the train of her dress: 

Megyn Kelly seems to believe that the Lip Sync Battle alum’s appearance and entrance represent the “absurdity,” “elitism” and “self-importance” of the WHCD. She also referred to the gathering as a “fake, stupid event,” and you can hear her comments in their entirety by watching the YouTube clip below:

As of this writing, that video has more than 500,000 views as well as more than 2,000 comments. So it’s fair to say that it’s garnered a considerable amount of attention at this point. The host isn’t backing down from her stance either, as she doubled down on it when she shared that link on Twitter. A number of her followers expressed support for her views via the comment section, but John Legend’s stance is considerably different.

How Did John Legend Respond To The Statements Made About His Wife?

The former Voice coach was recently approached by TMZ, who asked for his take on the former America Live host’s sentiments. John Legend gave a very direct response, as he claimed that Megyn Kelly simply “likes attention” and that she “needs it” following her exit from Fox News. The Grammy winner also shared his view on why Kelly felt the need to comment on his wife in the first place: 

He also said that the conservative firebrand can “shut up” before praising Chrissy Teigen. While the musician acknowledged that it’s not normal for someone to carry one’s dress in public, he mentioned that his spouse is “kind,” “loving” and “down to earth.” 

John Legend and Chrissy Teigen seem to have a loving relationship, which even sees them throw playful jabs at each other from time to time. (Teigen once roasted Legend over the La La Land/Oscars debacle). However, the two have publicly supported each other on multiple occasions as well, with Legend notably praising his wife in the aftermath of their family’s miscarriage in 2022. So it’s not all that surprising that he would stand up for her in this case and, if history gives us any indication, he’ll continue to have her back. As for whether Megyn Kelly chooses to respond to his comments, that remains to be seen.

Tucker Carlson’s name has become synonymous with Fox News over the years, with Tucker Carlson Tonight boasting the network’s highest viewership. The conservative political analyst has been delivering the news and his commentary to a loyal audience since joining Fox News 2009 and hosting his primetime talk show since 2016. His longevity and longtime success were two of the reasons it was so shocking when Fox News announced April 24 that Carlson was no longer employed by the network. It wasn’t just his fans, either, who were surprised, as Sean Hannity and Megyn Kelly opened up about the unexpected move.

Sean Hannity refused to mention Tucker Carlson’s departure during the April 24 broadcast of Hannity, The Hill reports, with the host saying, “We’re not talking about Tucker,” when discussing CNN’s firing of Don Lemon, which occurred on the same day. However, he did mention it on his radio show, The Sean Hannity Show (via The Wrap), telling listeners he was also blindsided by the news: 

The parting of ways between Tucker Carlson and Fox News Media came less than a week after the news organization agreed to pay a $787.5 million settlement to Dominion Voting Systems over allegations that Fox News employees knowingly disseminated debunked information about the 2020 presidential election. Several texts and other messages from Carlson were a big part of the suit, though The Wrap reports his firing was unrelated to the settlement.

Either way, Sean Hannity could provide no clarification on the subject, as he continued:

Former Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly — whose time slot was taken over by Tucker Carlson when she exited the network — was also candid about the shakeup, saying on her SiriusXM podcast The Megyn Kelly Show that it was “a great thing for Tucker Carlson” but “a terrible movie by Fox,” who she said was misjudging their audience. She continued: 

LIke Sean Hannity, Megyn Kelly said she had no insider information from the Fox News higher-ups, but she did not pull punches about her feelings on her former colleague’s dismissal, saying: 

The final episode of Tucker Carlson Tonight aired April 21, and as of April 24, that time slot will be filled by Fox News Tonight. The show will feature a panel of rotating guests of Fox News anchors recognizable to the network’s audience. 

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been the subject of tons of media coverage since their 2018 royal wedding. Their decision to relinquish their royal duties and move to the United States was met with strong opinions on all sides of the issue, particularly after their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey. Now, the Duchess of Sussex is facing criticism again, as former news anchor Megyn Kelly took issue with Markle calling Prince Harry “my husband,” and fans have taken to social media in the actress' defense.

On the November 1 episode of her podcast The Megyn Kelly Show, the media personality mentioned that she finds it “annoying” how Meghan Markle refers to Prince Harry. She mocked the former Suits actress, dramatically saying “my husband,” before continuing: 

But apparently, it’s not “all of us” who are bothered by the phrase, as Megyn Kelly claimed, because Twitter exploded in support of the couple. The hashtag #MeghansHusband was trending days after the interview aired, as fans shared photos of the famous couple being pretty adorable together. Many, like this person, pointed out the loving way that Prince Harry looks at Meghan Markle: 

Another fan pointed out that Prince Harry made his priorities clear — choosing to be Meghan's husband first — when the family relocated to California: 

Another echoed that statement, calling back to the couple’s gorgeous wedding, and saying that everyone deserves a partner who will prioritize his wife and children: 

The spousal pride seems to go both ways, as one fan shared a video of clips featuring Prince Harry referring to Meghan Markle as “my wife.”  

The former news anchor has been a vocal critic of Meghan Markle in the past. She's faced accusations of racism, including having her NBC talk show Megyn Kelly Today canceled after she made controversial statements about blackface being used in Halloween costumes. Many Twitter users who commented about Megyn Kelly's podcast thought there were undertones of "racism" in the host's gripes about the Archetypes podcaster’s use of “my husband,” with one fan saying:

In the end, it seemed like a lot of people just didn’t understand what the big deal was. Prince Harry is the Deal or No Deal alum’s husband, so why shouldn’t she call him that? This fan thinks it’s a “stupid” thing to get upset about:

Megyn Kelly is back in the commentary game, finding a home on Sirius XM’s podcast The Megyn Kelly Show and some comments she’s made recently have gone pretty viral. This includes a moment in which she spoke about the possibility of divorce between NFL veteran Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen, bringing in her own ideas about cheating and her husband to the forefront. As it turns out, he had a funny response to her viral moment, as well. 

Megyn Kelly’s Viral Cheating Comments

In order to get into the hilarious comment, you need to know some backstory. First of all, Megyn Kelly has been married to novelist Doug Brunt since 2011; the couple share three children together. The two sometimes talk about their relationship, with Brunt previously recalling they’d started dating during her tenure at Fox News and right after she had acquired a security detail thanks to a scary stalking incident. (Kelly exited Fox News in 2017.) While we've heard some tidbits about their relationship in the past, this time during The Megyn Kelly Show, the talk personality and host went viral after sharing her honest thoughts on marriage.

The comment was in a conversation Kelly was having with Canadian professor Gad Saad in which the man said he didn’t believe returning to football would be the major reason behind the Brady/Bündchen trouble in paradise, calling it “statistically unlikely.” Instead, Saad related that potentially “emotional infidelity” may be the root cause. Kelly responded: 

The quick response wasn’t particularly off-brand for Megyn Kelly, who has made a career off of blunt commentary. In fact, it was the second time the host went viral this week after she also referred to Trevor Noah as a “ratings killer” following the announcement he would be quitting The Daily Show soon.  

How Doug Brunt Responded After She Made The Comments On Air

What is a bit more amusing is the fact that Kelly then shared a news article on the viral comment she’d made with her longtime partner. Doug Brunt texted her back a funny one-liner, writing, ‘This feels like a trap.” You can see the exchange in the post below. 

Some commenters had fun with the post on Twitter and Instagram, sending out the “it’s a trap” Star Wars meme or calling her comment “absolute setup.” News anchor Billy Bush even responded back with a request: ‘Is it OK if Doug sits and cries with me? I could use it.’ Other names, like Bethany Joy Lenz, sent laughing emojis. 

And while Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen rumors do not seem to be dying down, it seems the former TV host and her partner are in a solid place and can joke about these cheating comments. You can catch Megyn Kelly on air between 12 and 2 p.m. ET weekdays on Triumph (Channel 111).

There’s a major change coming to Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, as host Trevor Noah announced that he plans to leave his post after seven years on the air. Noah addressed his exit during a recent episode of the show and, since then, both fans and fellow stars alike have shared reactions to the news. Media personality Megyn Kelly is one of the latest to lay out her thoughts on the development, and she didn’t mince words. In fact, she fired a few shots at Noah and said, among other things, that he’s a “ratings killer.” 

When Trevor Noah made his announcement nearly a week ago, he expressed gratitude for having been able to host The Daily Show for the past several years. He explained, however, that the events of the past few years have given him some to think about his future and as a result, he’s ready to try some new things. But Megyn Kelly suggests that Noah’s decision to step away was not his own. She alleges that the reason for the shift is due to his performance as host, which she believes has been poor: 

During a recent episode of her eponymous Sirius XM podcast, the former Fox News host didn’t end her assessment with those comments. She also presented a montage of clips from The Daily Show in order to back up her claims about the Comedy Central star’s alleged lackluster work. It's in the video below:

But as the podcaster shares her thoughts on Trevor Noah’s impending exit, reports suggest that his decision ruffled some feathers behind the scenes. It’s rumored that few people on staff actually knew about Noah’s choice before he announced it. It's even been said that he told people in the studio audience about it before he even let a number of his colleagues know. Noah was thought to have renewed his deal with Comedy Central earlier this year but, as of late, he’s apparently been eager to work more stand-up comedy gigs.

So one major question remains: Who’s going to become the new host of The Daily Show? Well, the latest reports suggest that there’s already a candidate in mind, show correspondent Roy Wood Jr. The veteran actor and comedian could be a solid host for the show, which he’s been a part of for the last seven years. Despite this rumor though, Comedy Central has remained mum regarding plans for the future. 

More immediately, Trevor Noah has not announced a timetable for his departure, but chances are he’ll likely look to close things out on a high note. It’s likely that further assessments of his stint as host will arrive when he’s finally anchored his last show. Whether or not Megyn Kelly chooses to share additional thoughts on his tenure remains to be seen.

Sharon Osbourne’s exit from The Talk was pretty tense, to say the least. In March, she and co-host Sheryl Underwood argued live on-air about Piers Morgan’s Good Morning Britain walkout over Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's interview with Oprah Winfrey. Underwood was visibly getting emotional after Osbourne pushed back against accusations of racism. But things only worsened in the days afterward because Osbourne was later accused of using racist and homophobic language about former hosts in the past. Following a brief hiatus and an internal review, she was not brought back to the CBS show. However, Osbourne now has some choice words about the showrunners supposedly behind her ouster.

The former Talk co-host has been blunt in the past about her feelings on her exit, and she's still not mincing words here. While on The Megyn Kelly Show, she was asked about the motivation behind CBS parting ways with her out after 11 years in the role. Sharon Osbourne frankly named showrunners Heather Gray and Kristin Matthews, as well as Amy Reisenbach, head of CBS Daytime, for seemingly having a vendetta against her. She said:                                      

CBS as a whole was also heavily criticized by the former talk show host. She called it a “failing” network full of “hypocrites” and “liars.” She also indicated that her firing from the show was because the CBS showrunners and others were “desperate to keep their jobs” and wanted to be “perceived as more than woke.”

In addition, Sharon Osbourne suggested that Sheryl Underwood had some part in getting her out, even though Underwood said on The Talk later that she was open to being friends still with Osbourne. The ex-host was seemingly confused as to why Underwood refused to talk or look at her while they were on a commercial break, following their initial argument. Osbourne criticized Underwood for not being a “good co-host or friend” and insinuated that she was going outside her wheelhouse by thinking she was a journalist like Gayle King. She continued:

Kelly Osbourne had also slammed woke culture in the wake of her mother's exit from The Talk. She said it should be more of a “counsel culture,” where people can be gently nudged into understanding sensitive issues rather than facing “a public execution.”

Despite these criticisms from the Osbournes, CBS has pushed on in adhering to its pledge last year to be a more equitable and diverse network. They have, for example, added more Black contestants to its reality shows Big Brother and Survivor. Big Brother 23 in fact was able to crown his first Black winner in its history last month, while Survivor’s host/executive producer, Jeff Probst, is making it a point in the new season to draw attention to their cultural blindspots.

It's more than apparent that Sharon Osbourne is still not happy with her departure or the CBS higher ups. Meanwhile, The Talk has since moved on with its replacement for her, Jerry O’Connell, who hopes to “enhance” the overall tone of the show.

While it seemed like Megyn Kelly was destined to build up a morning TV legacy at NBC a few years ago following her highly publicized exit from Fox News, that fate never really transpired, and not for any one simple reason. (Although it's pretty clear the blackface debacle was a giant catalyst.) In the last year, Kelly started up the successful eponymous podcast The Megyn Kelly Show, and is now celebrating a big move to SiriusXM for a new weekday radio chat show. And the new job change allowed her to reflect on her problematic time as part of NBC's Today block and more.

Having stayed away from full-time journalistic gigs in the years since her broadcast shows were cancelled and she was backed into her early and lucrative departure from NBC News - for which she still retained her $69 million contract less than a year into a three-year deal - Megyn Kelly is diving back in with both feet thanks to her new SiriusXM deal. And in talking about how happy she is with her present career path, Kelly offered Business Insider an assessment of why her transition from Fox News to NBC didn't go as well as expected.

There's no denying how popular Megyn Kelly was at Fox News during her peak, both with conservative viewers and with liberal critics (for the most part, anyway). But she was definitely a very busy woman in those years leading up to her exit in early 2017. Not only did she have The Kelly File on a weekly basis, but she was also a much-utilized correspondent on tons of other Fox News series, from The Five to Fox and Friends to The Factor. And that's not counting all the campaigning and election coverage throughout 2015 and 2016. So it's understandable that she might have felt a little burnt out and without enough quality time to spend with her family.

But instead of easing back accordingly, Megyn Kelly admitted she may have gone too soft too quickly in taking over a full hour-long block of NBC's Today along with her sporadically airing Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly, as she lost some of the hardened edge she'd sharpened at Fox News. But there were obviously other issues, such as that baffling Alex Jones interview early in her Today mini-tenure, which was leaked online ahead of its TV debut; the aforementioned blackface-apologist controversy; the plummeting ratings. And so on.

Thankfully for Megyn Kelly, her podcast hasn't been plagued with such issues, and is popular enough to have landed her an even more steady gig with SiriusXM. And that kind of job security allows one to comfortably take shots at a former employer, as Kelly did when saying this about NBC:

It's obviously impossible to know if Megyn Kelly could have turned it all around at NBC's Today, or if she just wasn't ever going to make it work there. Here's hoping she'll have more intellectually stimulating things to do at SiriusXM, where she'll be talking out news headlines, hadnling interviews and answering calls from listeners. Probably don't expect her to become the next Howard Stern or anything, though.

Fans will need to hold out a little longer before hearing her voice on satellite radio, however, as The Megyn Kelly Show will make its debut on SiriusXM's Triumph channel on Tuesday, September 7. In the meantime, check out all the non-radio shows hitting the 2021 Summer TV schedule.

Former Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly has seen Bombshell. She invited her husband and three former Fox employees who were subject to Roger Ailes’ sexual harassment for a screening of Jay Roach’s Golden Globe-nominated film. Once they’d viewed the movie together, the group talked about the “twirl” John Lithgow’s Ailes tells multiple women to stand up and do in his office.

Each of the three women recalled similar behavior from the late Fox CEO compared to what’s portrayed in Bombshell, including Megyn Kelly. Here’s what she said:

Unfortunately, it sounds like this aspect of Bombshell is painfully accurate. Megyn Kelly explained that while it may not initially sound like a big deal, it offended her to be asked to stand up and spin around during a business-related meeting with Roger Ailes. The other former Fox News employees also shared stories of the infamous spin.

Juliet Huddy, who is briefly portrayed by Once Upon a Time’s Jennifer Morrison in Bombshell, said that Roger Ailes would tell her to turn around so he could see her ass, and then ask her to gain some weight because she was too skinny. Julie Zann, who was a producer on the network, said she was asked to twirl, and she did it. Rudi Bakhtiar, played by Nazanin Boniadi in Bombshell, recalled being asked the same thing, but she refused.

In the preview to a Megyn Kelly Presents video on a response to Bombshell, these women touched on more claims of Roger Ailes. Julie Zann broke down as she explained that the former Fox CEO wanted her to ask him to give him oral sex. Juliet Huddy talked about how she lost her house and he walked away with millions after finally stepping down from the role. Rudi Bakhtiar discussed how at the time this treatment was thought of just the “way it works.” Take a look below:

Bombshell follows former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson’s lawsuit against Roger Ailes three years ago and how his eventual resignation came about. Carlson is played by Nicole Kidman and Charlize Theron disappears into the role of Megyn Kelly. The real-life anchor originally came out to say that she would make edits to Bombshell considering she wasn’t part of the filmmaking herself. Now, it looks like she’s taking the movie as an opportunity to discuss the events surrounding it.

With awards season in high gear, so are 2019’s biopics. Along with Renée Zellweger’s Judy Garland, Tom Hanks’ Mr. Rogers, or Taron Egerton’s Elton John, Charlize Theron also went through an extensive transformation to play former Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly in Jay Roach’s Bombshell.

Vivian Baker, Charlize Theron’s makeup artist on the bio drama, has revealed that the process took three hours each day on set. Baker used eight pieces of prosthetics created by special makeup effects and visual artist Kazuhiro Tsuji. He previously designed the transformation for Gary Oldman into Winston Churchill for Darkest Hour and Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Looper. Darkest Hour won the Oscar in 2018 for Best Makeup, along with Oldman’s first golden trophy for Best Actor.

The prosthetics for Charlize Theron’s Megyn Kelly were then covered with beauty makeup. As Vivian Baker told Us Magazine, it’s a technical challenge to blend the prosthetics into Theron’s features. Baker also said ”lashes were a big deal” for creating a believable Kelly. The artists had to use fake eyelashes to appear to change the shape of her eye to look like the anchor. Contact lenses and lots of glue also held together the look.

After the day was over, Vivian Baker said it took about 20 minutes for three artists to tear down the prosthetics on Charlize Theron. But, it turned out amazing! It even fooled Nicole Kidman once. In Theron’s words:

Along with Charlize Theron’s Megyn Kelly, John Lithgow also has prosthetics for his portrayal of Fox News CEO Roger Ailes, who resigned in 2016 from the position after a number of women filed sexual allegations against him. The movie follows Kelly, Nicole Kidman’s Gretchen Carlson, and Margot Robbie’s fictional Kayla Pospisil during the Fox News scandal.

Earlier this year, Charlize Theron opened up about being harassed by a Hollywood producer when she was 18 or 19 joining in for an audition. Bombshell will face the issues of the #MeToo movement head on. Yet, Megyn Kelly recently said she was not involved in the making of the film and would’ve made edits to Bombshell if given the chance. Theron recently responded by saying she’d probably feel the same way if a movie was being made about her life.

Charlize Theron is no stranger to transformations for a performance. She shaved her head for Mad Max: Fury Road and became unrecognizable for her Oscar-winning portrayal of prostitute-turned-serial killer Aileen Wuornos for the 2003 film Monster.

It’s not really awards season without some controversy involving the filmmakers of a biopic and the real person being portrayed, is it? Jay Roach’s Bombshell is coming to theaters next week. The drama is based on the sexual harassment allegations that sparked over at Fox News back in 2016. Charlize Theron has already nabbed a Golden Globe nomination for her portrayal of Megyn Kelly in the flick. But what does she think of Bombshell? Here’s what Kelly recently wrote:

Megyn Kelly is being quite and honest clear about her involvement in Bombshell – she was not personally involved in the making of the film about her. Kelly explained that she was offered a screening of the film well after the production was done with. She apparently wasn’t given the opportunity to add her input into the film, but if she could, she definitely would.

The former Fox News anchor continued to detail her viewpoint on Bombshell with these words:

Even without her edits, Megyn Kelly did note that Bombshell did affect her emotionally and she is hoping people will be moved by the film’s message about sexual harassment’s harm. The Fox News story includes Gretchen Carlson (played by Nicole Kidman) as she filed a lawsuit against Fox founder Roger Ailes (played by John Lithgow) for refusing his sexual advances.

Considering her words, it certainly sounds like we will be hearing more about Megyn Kelly’s opinions on Bombshell in the near future. She perhaps is waiting for the film to be released and allow for people to form their own opinions before jumping on to the conversation.

She shared her thoughts after going with her husband and three children to see Frozen 2 and her six-year-old son recognized Charlize Theron on a movie poster as his mom. Check out the Instagram post:

Pretty amazing, isn’t it? Apparently on set, even Nicole Kidman had a moment on the set of Bombshell where she actually didn’t recognize Charlize Theron! The movie is getting some early acclaim from critics as it has already has nominations for the SAG Awards and the Critics’ Choice Awards, along with two Golden Globe noms. The movie currently has a barely fresh 60% Rotten Tomatoes score.

Bombshell is coming to theaters on December 20, along with other great December movies such as Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker and Cats.

Almost three years after she left the network, Megyn Kelly is headed back to Fox News. The former host of The Kelly File will make a return on the channel in a special interview that will air on Tucker Carlson Tonight. The interview will be Kelly's first television interview she's done in quite a while. Is this a tease that she may be headed back to her former news channel in a more permanent capacity?

It's hard to say for sure, though it is worth noting that Megyn Kelly's interview does not seemed to be linked to any announcement about rejoining the network. Tucker Carlson teased the interview, which will air on Wednesday, October 16, will be her first television interview since leaving NBC after controversial remarks she made in regards to blackface. Based on Carlson's announcement, it appears the scope of the interview will cover Kelly's time on NBC.

Megyn Kelly's return to the Fox News Channel has some speculating she could rejoin the network and possibly step in for the recently departed Shepard Smith. Deadline reported the network is denying those claims, and said that Kelly's interview was "coordinated weeks ago and is a one time occurrence." The statement went on further to say that any future decisions being made about its programming do not involve Kelly. According to Fox News, there's no reason for fans of Kelly to get excited anytime soon.

Still, it's hard to believe Fox News Channel isn't at least considering rehiring Megyn Kelly if she's willing to take an offer. Kelly turned down a lot of money from the network to head over to NBC, so clearly her presence had value. Kelly was initially replaced in primetime by Tucker Carlson, someone she called a friend on social media. Carlson might be someone Kelly considers a confidant, and someone who will give her a chance to give her view of her time at NBC.

As far as other things Megyn Kelly and Tucker Carlson may discuss, the two may broach the topic of Charlize Theron playing Kelly on the big screen in the movie Bombshell. The movie centers on the controversy of former Fox News Channel CEO Roger Ailes, in which Megyn Kelly and other women on the network were allegedly subjected to unwanted sexual advances from Ailes. Kelly later wrote about the events in her book Settle For More and mentioned the network once asked her to defend Ailes when other allegations surfaced.

Megyn Kelly is officially done at NBC, and she is leaving with the rest of her $69 million contract payday. NBC announced that it has formally finalized the terms for her to go, saying in a statement:

So, why does Megyn Kelly get $69 million?

That was the amount Megyn Kelly was estimated to have received for the course of her three-year contract with the network. That amount was set to be distributed to her annually throughout her three-year deal. Meaning Kelly should have banked an estimated $23 million per year.

As of the agreement having been settled, Megyn Kelly will receive an up to $30 million payout, per NBC News. In other words, Megyn Kelly was paid her entire deal without completing her original run.

It had previously been reported that Megyn Kelly would walk away with the full amount of her original contract, roughly two months ago. It something that is only now coming to fruition.

NBC cancelled Megyn Kelly Today in October 2018. The daytime talk show was cancelled in the aftermath of Kelly's controversial comments about the use of blackface for Halloween costumes. The network put an end to the show three days later.

While that occurred months ago, Megyn Kelly's official exit from the network had remained in protracted negotiations. That has now come to an end with the resolution of her contract. The news marks the end of Kelly's shorter than scheduled run on the network.

Megyn Kelly joined NBC in early 2017, following her exit from Fox News. Putting the date of her official departure from the network almost two years after she boarded NBC. So she had roughly a year left on her contract, which she will be paid the remainder of as part of her exit deal.

The news is the culmination of Megyn Kelly's abbreviated run on the network. Her daytime talk show debuted in September 2017, the same year she joined NBC. Ratings issues followed, as did high-profile incidents with guests.

Debra Messing expressed regret about going on Megyn Kelly Today. Then, there was the Jane Fonda interview. Nearly a year ago, Kelly expressed her optimism about how her morning show had done so far. As for NBC's Today, the third hour of the morning show has charted a new course following Kelly's exit.

Since the end of Megyn Kelly Today, the third hour of Today has seen a 10 percent boost in the key ratings demo. Just a few days ago, Today announced the hosts who would be taking over the third hour of The Today Show. The hosting panel will include Sheinelle Jones, Dylan Dreyer, Al Roker, and Craig Melvin.

The Today Show airs weekdays starting at 7 a.m. ET on NBC. It is among the content airing now in the midseason.

NBC's Today has dealt with its fair share of controversies and hiccups in recent years, and its front line anchors are a slightly different bunch than they were five or six years ago. The morning news telecast went through a bit of an upheaval in 2018, largely thanks to the comings and goings of former Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly, who lost her Today hour back in October. Now, we finally know who will officially be taking her place during Hour 3: Sheinelle Jones, Dylan Dreyer, Al Roker and Craig Melvin.

To celebrate the big announcement going public, meteorologist and news correspondent Dylan Dreyer shared a pic of Today's newest foursome. As everyone can see below, each member of the team is rocking a giant smile, with Al Roker's seemingly at a breaking point.

Even though this is the newest official team-up for Today's third hour, it's not as if anyone in this quartet is actually new to NBC News or to the Today franchise. These well-known on-air personalities have worked their way through the ranks at NBC to earn their spots. Megyn Kelly herself got the solo Megyn Kelly Today gig as part of that mega-deal with NBC News that was meant to keep her in the network's ranks for years to come.

Sheinelle Jones joined NBC News back in 2014, and later became the co-anchor for Weekend Today. She has also been a frequent contributor and stand-in anchor for the weekday Today installments, on top of also appearing on MSNBC Live.

Dylan Dreyer, meanwhile, joined the NBC News squad as a meteorologist in 2012, and soon became part of the Today and Weekend Today crews as a weather correspondent and weather anchor. Beyond also contributing her weather skills for NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, Dreyer also had/has her own standalone series titled Journey with Dylan Dreyer.

Back in 2011, Craig Melvin joined NBC News as part of the MSNBC Live program, working as a weekend anchor. He spent 2015-2018 as the co-anchor on Weekend Today before he was upgraded to be a Today anchor back in August. He was also a correspondent on Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly, but that job obviously isn't one he's still showing up for.

Then there's Al Roker, the NBC vet with the most experience. His network career started back in 1978, and he joined Today as a fill-in meteorologist from 1990-1995, becoming a full-timer in 1996. Roker was previously one-half of a Today hosting with Tamron Hall, who exited the NBC series in the wake of the news that Megyn Kelly was joining the network.

Now that NBC and Today's producers have figured out what they're doing with Hour 3, the discussions can now turn to replacing anchor Kathie Lee Gifford, who is vacating her fourth-hour position in April 2019. Something tells me nobody is going to be calling Megyn Kelly to ask if she's too busy to return.

Though her arrival at NBC was treated like a major draw by execs, it quickly became obvious that she was not the most perfect fit. Her talk show debuted to much scrutiny and criticism, and her Today time slot did not fare much better. The straw that broke the camel's back, however, came in late October, when she made on-air comments defending the use of blackface as a Halloween costume, inspiring a large backlash. NBC cancelled her program three days later.

Megyn Kelly's NBC career was making headlines even before her big move was officially announced. Less than two years later, Kelly may be finished at the network after making controversial comments earlier this week concerning the use of blackface in Halloween costumes. While NBC News has yet to officially comment on the matter, the widespread rumors of her impending exit were addressed on Kelly's tentative current home, The Today Show. Here's was Morgan Radford's plain summation during the segment:

Conversations obviously aren't indicative of anything permanent being decided, but the signs are almost universally pointing to Megyn Kelly's departure being as imminent as ever. Her inflammatory comments were universally rebuked, and one would be hard-pressed to find anyone at NBC or NBC News arguing publicly for Kelly to remain in her higher-up position.

Considering Megyn Kelly is a little over a year into her three-year contract with NBC News (valued at $69 million), the anchor's alleged exit would likely result in a pretty major payday. Had she been fired for criminal charges, that'd be one thing, but hand-tying situations like this don't often leave much room for networks to avoid paying out a hefty severance package.

Financial details of that kind have yet to be confirmed. CBS Detroit did report that Megyn Kelly had parted ways with talent agency CAA, and that she has brought attorney Bryan Freedman in to handle the proceedings. So that will possibly play a role in the deal being made, and may speak to how long those conversations could last.

On Thursday morning, NBC News announced that Megyn Kelly Today tapings wouldn't be happening for the rest of the week, which already wasn't a positive sign for her return. Repeats aired during the telecast's time slot on Thursday and Friday.

If Megyn Kelly does go through with NBC meetings execs on Friday to discuss her future, then audiences can probably expect for next week's Today episodes to follow suit with repeats. Alternately, Today Show producers may spend the weekend seeking out potential guest replacements to take over the time slot until a more permanent solution arrives. There is no shortage of talent across all of Today's hours, so perhaps Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford's fourth-hour slot will expand to two hours while things are resolved behind the scenes.

Once it seemingly became clear that Megyn Kelly's days at NBC were numbered, some speculated that she would return to her former home Fox News, despite the somewhat non-amicable way she departed. Some from Fox News even offered supportive comments in recent days, fueling that speculation. However, the network released a statement that doesn't make Kelly's return appear all that likely.

On Wednesday, Megyn Kelly took time on Today to fully address the backlash that had formed against her, and she tearfully apologized for her previous comments. While her "sorry" statement was largely deemed to be a genuine one, however, it wasn't enough to sway those calling for NBC to fire her.

During Megyn Kelly Today's Tuesday telecast, the host claimed to not grasp why blackface was so offensive, since it was "okay" when she was a kid if "you were dressing up like a character." She went on to defend Real Housewives star Luann De Lesseps, who'd come under fire earlier this year when a Halloween episode appeared to depict her wearing blackface makeup for a Diana Ross costume.

Following the airing, Megyn Kelly sent an internal memo to her Today coworkers and staff, apologizing and admitting that her views were not sensitive to the issue. Saying she's "never been a 'pc' kind of person," Kelly called the history of blackface is abhorrent, and said its wounds are "too deep."

Neither her internal apology, nor her public one, stopped anyone at NBC or Today from calling Megyn Kelly out for those comments. Colleague Craig Melvin called her words "ignorant and racist," while Al Roker went on air saying that she needed to make a bigger apology to people of color everywhere in the U.S.

NBC News chief Andy Lack made comments about Kelly's Today segment during a town hall meeting on Wednesday.

Megyn Kelly's blackface comments were not the first time the Today host has incited controversy during her time at NBC. From her softballed interviews with Vladamir Putin and Infowars' Alex Jones to other racially charged comments about Santa Claus, Kelly has found herself in the crosshairs time and again. This time, though, she may not find her way back.

This might have been a completely different discussion if Megyn Kelly Today was bringing in massive numbers for NBC, since TV execs have sometimes turned blind eyes to scandals when they resulted in bigger audiences. However, Kelly has not been the viewer magnet that execs were hoping for, and didn't attract the entirety of the large, conservative-leaning crowd that followed her at Fox News. Her time slot is averaging far fewer viewers than the hour had previously brought in.

Speaking of days gone by, some think it's possible that Today will bring former anchor Tamron Hall back to potentially take over the third hour again. Hall had turned many heads back in 2017 when she (seemingly voluntarily) vacated her Today gig following the news of Megyn Kelly's addition to the NBC News team.

Speculation on that front was further fueled by Tamron Hall's social media post about Al Roker's current work in the Waitress musical currently on Broadway. Two former coworkers hanging out together isn't a sure sign of Hall making career choices, but they sure do look happy together again, don't they?

It's being reported that Megyn Kelly and NBC are likely to end the morning show at the end of the season.

Megyn Kelly Today's likely ending is reported to be the result of ongoing discussions between Megyn Kelly and NBC which first started weeks ago. THR reported Kelly expressed a desire to cover more news and politics for NBC, something she's only been able to occasionally do in her softer, daytime slot. The report that Kelly's show will be phased out at the season's end seemingly means both parties agreed her current position was not the best place for her on the network.

As for what's next for Megyn Kelly and NBC after this, that's a more complicated question to answer. Kelly is presently under fire for controversial remarks she made about "blackface" during Megyn Kelly Today, in which she stated doing so for Halloween costumes was not racist if the person is portraying another person or character. Kelly apologized for the remarks and, allegedly, the decision to end Kelly's program came before those statements.

NBC News did not avoid covering Megyn Kelly's comments this week. Instead, chairman Andy Lack and high profile personalities on the network like Al Roker and Craig Melvin all spoke out. The network also covered the incident on NBC Nightly News With Lester Holt and on the Wednesday edition of Today. Lack added in a public statement afterward that the network's top priority going forward was maintaining a workplace where the need to be "proud" and "respected" is upheld.

A rerun of Megyn Kelly Today was shown during the Thursday, October 25th edition of the show, and word is the next day's edition will also be pre-taped. Friday episodes are typically pre-taped, so it is unknown whether Kelly will return to television live on Monday or if a decision will be made about the future of the daytime program by then.

While NBC's future plans for Megyn Kelly are unclear, it's worth noting the network paid a lot of money to bring her onto the network. The reported nearly $20 million contract she signed is a big one for NBC to try, and it's unclear if the network will try to find a new timeslot more suited to Kelly's strengths. We'll have to wait and see what ends up happening with the host and news anchor, but for now, it seems like at least her daytime slot may no longer be a part of the network's future.

In a TV shakeup of significant proportions, Fox News firebrand Megyn Kelly announced she was leaving her post on the network in early 2017 to join NBC News. Later that year, she took over hosting the third hour of the Today show, which was subsequently renamed Megyn Kelly Today. The former attorney also hosts a primetime newsmagazine, Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly. While ratings for Megyn Kelly Today have not been gargantuan, the host has offered her perspective on how things are going. This is what she had to say:

Megyn Kelly provided those insights in an interview with Variety. Kelly's thoughts are in line with what an NBC executive goes on to tell the publication regarding the show's progress in the ratings. Morning TV can be rough, which is probably why it is inspiring a new TV series. Megyn Kelly Today has some stiff ratings competition in time slot competitor Live with Kelly and Ryan on ABC. As a side note, Kelly's hour of Today has not consistently outperformed the average numbers of the one it replaced.

Viewers of Megan Kelly Today have undoubtedly witnessed a shift in content over the course of the year. As Kelly indicates in the interview, every new show has to get a sense of what works and what does not. That is true, especially given that many shows' endurance is somewhat dependent on the producers' willingness to change with the realization of what an audience wants to see. The same rule pretty much applies to every show.

Of course, series such as Live with Kelly and Ryan have established a healthy run in the ratings by giving the audience what they are comfortable with. It is also anchored by two people, whereas Megyn Kelly Today relies more on its namesake and her guests. Both series rely on the personality of their hosts, which can play a considerable role in the reception to a show.

For now, Megyn Kelly Today will continue to evolve, though it is not entirely clear what into. Kelly also says that she will not host celebrities who only want to promote their latest project unless they have something more personal to offer. That is quite a departure from what other morning shows tend to do.

NBC clearly has faith in Megyn Kelly. When they welcomed her to the network, they gave her two shows, not one. As for Megan Kelly Today, it airs weekday mornings starting at 9 a.m. ET on NBC. Jane Fonda is an icon of showbiz who has turned in fabulous performances on the large and small screens over the many years of career. She is an Oscar winner, an Emmy winner, and a Golden Globe winner, and pretty much everybody knows her name. She's still active in showbiz today, thanks to her starring role in the sitcom Grace and Frankie and her upcoming role in the movie Our Souls at Night. Fonda recently appeared on Today to promote Our Souls at Night with co-star Robert Redford, and the interview took a distinctly uncomfortable turn when interviewer Megyn Kelly suddenly began to ask Fonda about her plastic surgery. Take a look!

The interview starts off innocently enough, as Jane Fonda and Robert Redford reflected on the early years of the careers, before they really hit it big and became the icons they are today. Then, about a minute and a half in, Megyn Kelly switched from talking about how hunky Redford was in The Way We Were and All the President's Men to bring up Jane Fonda's history with plastic surgery. The tone of the interview changed very quickly as soon as Kelly uttered the words "You admit you had work done." Jane Fonda clearly wasn't expecting the interview to go in that direction. While Fonda kept her composure a lot better than many of us viewers probably could have, she was clearly not happy.

Kudos to Jane Fonda for moving the conversation on from the awkward moment that could have derailed the entire interview. Despite Megyn Kelly's best efforts to get Fonda to talk about her plastic surgery -- which Kelly specifically mentioned as something Fonda has said she's not proud of -- Fonda made a quick segue back to discussing Our Souls at Night. Really, Kelly's query about Fonda's plastic surgery felt more like something that should come out of her evening news show than a fun interview to create buzz for a Netflix movie. I'm guessing most viewers were watching to see Jane Fonda and Robert Redford bantering rather than Kelly questioning Fonda's cosmetic decisions.

Robert Redford helped Jane Fonda make a joke out of Megyn Kelly's question about plastic surgery, and they managed to shift focus back to Our Souls at Night. The interview got nicely silly and charming once Redford and Fonda hit their comedic rhythm again, but it's difficult to argue that there weren't some seriously uncomfortable moments. Interestingly, this wasn't the first instance of an interview going somewhat sideways for Kelly. Debra Messing wasn't happy with some of Kelly's comments after an appearance on Today to hype the upcoming Will and Grace revival.

The reboot of Will & Grace is nearly upon us. The actors have been on a press tour to keep fans excited, but a visit to Megyn Kelly's new talk show left some folks scratching their head when the host made controversial jokes. One of the Will & Grace cast members was among the people expressing confusion on social media. Emmy Award-winner Debra Messing, who plays Grace Adler, hopped online after the interview to explain she had not known she had to do Kelly's show, and she found the host's jokes frustrating. Messing wrote,

Debra Messing explained her disappointment when a fan asked her on Instagram why she and the Will & Grace family went on Megyn Kelly's show in the first place. It seems the interview would have been innocuous enough had Kelly not brought out a superfan of Will & Grace and asked him,

Moments later, Megyn Kelly awarded the superfan a trip to Los Angeles to watch a taping of Will & Grace. Then Kelly tapped him on the back and said,

The comments divided viewers. Some people wondered if Megyn Kelly was trying to infuse her joke with the judgment that gay people choose a sexual orientation. Reports say people felt concerns because of Kelly's previous history with negative remarks about the LGBT community. For example, Kelly often invited the head of an anti-gay lobbying organization onto her past Fox News show, and she sometimes made statements that seemed supportive of his rhetoric.

Thus, Debra Messing and many viewers shook their head when Megyn Kelly made the comments on her new show, which Kelly had previously said would not be political. At the same time, other viewers saw the comments as jokes, and they noted that Kelly warmly talked for a while about the "huge impact" Will & Grace had on society. People close to the Will & Grace team said it was evident Kelly was kidding and not trying to insinuate gay people choose to be gay or "become gay." Even the superfan Kelly brought on stage seemed to take the jokes in stride. In fact, Emmy Award-winner Sean Hayes, who plays Jack McFarland, indicated the interview on Kelly's show was an enjoyable experience. He tweeted,

Still, it makes sense Debra Messing felt shocked. As a gay icon and recipient of the GLAAD Excellence in Media Award, Messing knows a thing or two about competent depictions of the LGBT community on TV. We'll have to stay tuned to see if Megyn Kelly explains the jokes or, perhaps more importantly, the perspective from which she made them.

If Megyn Kelly expected to be walking away from controversy-laced spotlights upon her exit from Fox News, then she's probably surprised to be so mired down by backlashes and bipartisan chiding over her first weeks back on the air for NBC's Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly. Her debut interview with Vladimir Putin earned her just such a backlash, though, and this Sunday night's talk with the scandal-causing Infowars host Alex Jones has gone beyond just verbal criticisms as Sunday Night has already lost its first advertisers, and one organization has removed Kelly as a host for an upcoming event.

Alex Jones is widely known for his baffling conspiratorial claims that purposefully stoke the anger and paranoia of whoever's listening, with one of his most popular (and heinous) boasts being that the tragic Sandy Hook Elementary shootings were just a hoax. Many are having trouble understanding why NBC and Megyn Kelly would provide such a massive platform for Jones to direct his malarkey, and J.P. Morgan Chase has reportedly requested for its advertising to be pulled from all NBC News shows until after the Sunday evening interview, according to the Wall Street Journal. And if it wasn't already implied, the company specifically did not want any of its ads to air alongside any promos for Jones' interview.

It appears that several within J.P. Morgan Chase's ranks were not pleased with any aspect of Alex Jones getting screen time on a major broadcast network. The company's chief marketing officer, Kristin Lemkau, took to Twitter and (showcasing her status as an advertiser) called Megyn Kelly out for doing the interview in the first place. No lack of transparency at J.P. Morgan in some areas.

Additionally, the gun violence prevention organization Sandy Hook Promise announced that Megyn Kelly is no longer being invited to host its annual Promise Champions Gala, which is being held on Wednesday night, June 14, in Washington D.C. The timing on that is crazy, and its last minute-ness speaks to how important it was for Sandy Hook Promise to pull their support away from Kelly over her show's rabble-rousing next subject. The organization's managing director also asked for NBC to consider not airing the interview.

For a new and highly anticipated show, Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly has already caused way more negative chatter than one might have expected. Her Fox News presence was a big one, and was made all the more in-focus during the last presidential election, so NBC has banked hard on her being a thriving magnet for viewership. It's hard to know who thought it would be a great idea to get Alex Jones in the interviewee seat for the third episode, but if those kinds of decisions keep passing the bar, NBC may be facing more problems in the future.

When one thing goes askew on NBC's Today Show, it seems like everything starts going belly-up. Politics clearly had a role to play in the morning show's biggest changes over the past few months, starting somewhere around the ousting of Billy Bush. Megyn Kelly left her longtime home at Fox News to jump to NBC, and it was recently revealed she'd take over one of Today's hour-long blocks, with Tamron Hall and Al Roker's hour getting shafted by the deal. Now that she's had time to considering things, Hall has decided to exit both NBC and MSNBC.

NBC News definitely shocked a lot of people by announcing one of Megyn Kelly's new roles within the empire would interfere with the world of Today, and one can imagine Tamron Hall and Al Roker were among the most surprised. Even though Hall's contract expires this month, it was thought that she would stick with the company, since she would still be a part of Today's first two hours, along with all the other on-camera work she was doing for MSNBC. (She'd been filling in more than usual lately, even.) But her official last day was Tuesday, and she won't be back on either network barring some unusual circumstances.

It appears that the split between Tamron Hall and NBC wasn't one full of fireworks and turmoil. According to People and its sources, Hall's demeanor hadn't changed much on the set, and she remained in good spirits to everyone around her, with a team player attitude present throughout. But if those sources are correct, Hall found out about losing her Today spot just minutes before going on the air that morning, and that may have had a big part to play in why she's deciding to move on with her career.

Not that NBC didn't try to keep her around, as she was reportedly offered quite a bit of moolah to renew her contract for more years. Still, Tamron Hall turned down the offers, despite the fact that she doesn't seem to have anything locked down by way of another gig, which is another good sign that the way NBC News execs handled the Today deal was anything but pleasing to her. Hopefully she'll find whatever she's looking for in her next opportunity, and maybe we'll get to hear more behind-the-scenes dirt when it happens.

For now, Al Roker will continue to anchor the third hour of Today's telecast every weekday morning, possibly with someone else taking a seat next to him on occasion, with the bigger overhaul coinciding with the fall season. It took a very short time for Fox News to find a replacement for Megyn Kelly. The network gave Tucker Carlson the timeslot and he's had a few weeks to settle in. Now, new reports indicate that Tucker Carlson was probably a good choice. Actually, they indicate he was probably a great choice. The ratings are in and Tucker Carlson is nearly doubling the ratings of Megyn Kelly in the 9 p.m. ET timeslot.

The doubling of the ratings is in regards to the coveted 25-54 demographic, which advertisers prefer when marketing on cable and network TV. In that demographic, the show has bumped up from an average of 398,000 viewers to 775,000 viewers, according to The Hill. In total viewership---that is everyone watching the show, Tucker Carlson Tonight is averaging 3.73 million total viewers. That makes him more heavily watched than The Kelly File, which saw an average of 2.72 million people tune in during 2016.

Obviously, it should be noted that Tucker Carlson only has a few days under his belt. Those few days--January 11-22--are being compared to Megyn Kelly's entire run last year, so it's not exactly even comparison. In addition, hosts often get a pretty big bump during the first few weeks they are on the air. Still, it bodes well for Tucker Carlson Tonight that the numbers are up and not down.

If you know much about Fox News, you should know that it has been the highest-rated news network for a while. It does much better in Primetime and during other parts of the day than its most similar competitors, CNN and MSNBC. With that in mind, however, The Kelly File was the second-highest rated program on Fox News, following The O'Reilly Factor, so it's important to note that Tucker Carlson isn't just coming in and beating someone who was small potatoes. The Kelly File dominated, so the fact that Tucker Carlson Tonight is doing even better is an impressive feat.

Part of this could be happening because January has been a big month for politics, too. President Obama made his final address and prepared to leave the White House, and then Donald Trump was inaugurated. He has already made some big claims and signed plenty of executive orders. People are really interested in politics right now, and that may be translating in the ratings, among the other pros already listed in this article.

We'll have to wait and see how Tucker Carlson Tonight does over the next several months. I'm certainly interested in comparing the first year of Tucker Carlson Tonight to those Megyn Kelly averages, as it will give us a better scope of the news personality's popularity. It's only been a week since Megyn Kelly announced she would be leaving Fox News for NBC News, but things have been moving fast. Megyn Kelly's last day at the network was Friday, and before that even happened, Fox News had announced that its own Tucker Carlson would be taking over her time slot on week nights. If you are wondering what Kelly is thinking about the changes, she's been pretty open, and shared her feelings about the Tucker Carlson appointment.

Although it would be unlikely for Megyn Kelly to express her feelings if she were disgruntled about the appointment, her comments are more than just politely positive. In fact, she genuinely seems excited about the changeover, not that Fox News needed the Megyn Kelly stamp of approval to move forward. Still, it's always better when transition are pretty easy rather than hard. I think anyone who paid attention to Michael Strahan leaving Live with Kelly and Michael can understand why this sort of exit is better.

In fact, Megyn Kelly's transition has been incredibly smooth. She's stated she is leaving the network because the NBC News gig will enable her to spend more time with her family. In addition, she also had a heartfelt moment during her final episode on Fox News at the end of last week, noting that "night after night" the fans have welcomed her show into their homes and that she is grateful for the experience. Going out on a high note will hopefully assure that some of those viewers will move networks with her.

As for Tucker Carlson, he'll be moving timeslots tonight. So, if you are used to catching the man at 7 p.m. on Fox News, plan on staying up a little later on Monday night. He'll be moving into Megyn Kelly's 9 p.m. timeslot on the network tonight. So far, we don't know exactly when Megyn Kelly will be starting on NBC News, but we do know there are plans for her to potentially take on a daytime role at the new network. She's been a pretty big asset to nighttime TV, and we'll have to wait and see how that translates into daytime.

If you're a soap opera fan, then you're probably used to seeing every twist in the book, but that might not be enough to prepare you for this: 2017 could potentially be the final year for Days of Our Lives. The long-running soap has had threats of cancellation before but this latest rumor could be credible in the fact that its related to the most recent NBC shakeup in the form of the addition of one Megyn Kelly to the news roster.

According to People, sources close to Days of Our Lives say that executives have told key staffers and several cast members that this upcoming year will likely be the last for the soap opera. For several years now, the series has been renewed on a year-by-year basis and the current contract ends after 2017. As for why the show could be getting canceled after so many years on air -- it just recently celebrated its 51st anniversary -- the insider claims that it has to do with former Fox anchor Megyn Kelly moving over to NBC.

It was recently announced that journalist Megyn Kelly would not be renewing her contract with Fox and would instead be joining the news team over at NBC. Kelly will continue to work at Fox until July and then it's off to NBC, though, what she will end up doing seems to still be a big question.

"Nobody knows what she is going to be doing," said the insider. "There is so much that has to still be arranged."

Kelly was offered three different potential roles at NBC by the network's news chairman, Andrew Lack: anchor an in-depth Sunday night news show; play a role in NBC's big events and special political coverage; and have a chance to host her own daytime news and discussion show. It's that last one that directly impacts the fate of Days of Our Lives.

If Kelly does choose to do a daytime show, it's going to need a timeslot. Days of Our Lives' 1-2 p.m. slot is some juicy placement for a daytime show, and NBC could bump the soap opera to make room for Kelly. It wouldn't be an unprecedented move by TV standards. ABC, for instance, canceled its own long-running soaps All My Children and One Life to Live in 2011 to make room for daytime talk shows like The Chew and The Revolution (which got canceled). If NBC chooses not to find a new spot for Days of Our Lives -- which has been airing new episodes nearly every weekday since 1965 -- then it might finally be the end for the soap.

It's only taken a few days for Fox News to get its act together in the wake of Megyn Kelly deciding to leave the cable news network for NBC News. This morning, it was revealed that Megyn Kelly's very important 9 p.m. timesot has already been filled by none other than Tucker Carlson. Because Tucker Carlson already has a show at 7 p.m. on Fox News, there's going to be some other shuffling in the network's schedule, as well, with Martha MacCallum being the big winner.

There have been quite a few names that have been bandied about in the days following Megyn Kelly's big announcement. A lot of people thought that Fox News might try to fill the 9 p.m. slot with another female host, but there was never any real indication that was what Fox News was looking for. The 9 p.m. slot is a huge timeslot for Fox News, so clearly the network was looking for "a name" to take it over. Tucker Carlson, a former CNN Crossfire co-host, is certainly more of a name than a lot of other people at the news network. Still, his promotion to 9 p.m. came crazy fast.

The NY Times reports that Tucker Carlson will be sliding into the 9 p.m. timeslot soon, but that the promotion to 9 p.m. is a big deal, as Carlson only took over the 7 p.m. timeslot on November 16, replacing Greta Van Susteren at the network. His show, Tucker Carlson Tonight, is getting a pretty swift promotion, but Fox News is in the middle of a lot of shuffling thanks to the exits of Van Susteren and Megyn Kelly, not to mention Roger Ailes on the network's back end. Plus, Tucker Carlson's ratings have been quite good, with Tucker Carlson Tonight beating rival news networks in the ratings. That's not a bad place to be in with so many changes going on.

Because Tucker Carlson will already be exiting the 7 p.m. timeslot, Fox News has that slot to fill, as well. Reports indicate that Martha MacCallum is going to take over that timeslot, although her deal is not longterm at this juncture. Right now, she's only signed on for the 100 days after Trump's inauguration. Obviously, if her ratings are good we would expect that to change. Currently MacCallum co-anchors another Fox News program America's Newsroom, although that program is a daytime show and not an evening one.

There's a lot changing in the world of TV news right now, and not just on Fox News. Megyn Kelly is heading to NBC News just a short time after Billy Bush was also fired from that network. The times, they are a changin'.

Just a few short days ago we learned that Megyn Kelly would be leaving Fox News for NBC News. At the time, the announcement was not a huge shock, as reports had indicated Kelly was making up her mind about whether or not she wanted to stick with the major news outlet. However, those reports had also stated that Megyn Kelly was fighting to get more money at Fox News. As it turns out, that wasn't the case at all. New reports indicate that Fox News offered Kelly $100 million to stay, and she decided to turn the network down, anyway.

Any way you put it, $100 million is a lot of money, even when that money is spread across four years, as this deal reportedly would have been. It seems pretty legitimate, too, as outlets are noting Lachlan Murdoch, Executive Co-Chairman of News Corp and 21st Century Fox, was the person who offered Kelly the deal. It's also a heck of a lot more money than the $20 million we thought Megyn Kelly was putting her foot down for at Fox News. Per Mediaite, NBC News actually offered Kelly less money than Fox News did, so why did she ultimately choose to switch networks?

Megyn Kelly has stated that she wants to spend more time with her family and children as the primary reason she decided to leave Fox News, but there could be a few other things coming into play, as well. It definitely is safe to say that Fox News is in a state of flux right now. Roger Ailes exited his position at the big cable news network a few months ago, following a slew of allegations that he had sexually harassed some female employees in the company. Reports alleged that Megyn Kelly had been caught in the crossfire, and she later did a guest stint on ABC and explained why she felt conflicted about coming forward when the harassment initially happened.

Another reason Megyn Kelly may have been excited about moving to NBC News is that she will get to try a whole bunch of new types of projects. One big thing that NBC will be changing will be giving Kelly a daytime TV spot, as Kelly herself noted in a post to her fans. Plus, rumors have even indicated she could take over an entire hour of Today.

Whatever the reason, Megyn Kelly is moving on and she is moving on soon. Her last day on air on Fox News will actually be Friday, January 6. One of the most recognizable faces and names in the cable news biz is Fox News' headline-making Megyn Kelly, who has been steadily bolstering her career both on-screen and off for the past twelve years. But it sounds like Kelly is going to be making some of the biggest news of her life, as it appears she will be leaving behind her Fox News digs for other pastures both cable and broadcast at NBC News.

Nothing has officially been revealed by either Fox News or NBC News, but the New York Times reports Megyn Kelly was given a big offer that she's currently in negotiations to accept. NBC News chairman Andrew Lack reportedly set the deal up so that Kelly would serve as host of her own daytime news and discussion series, along with an anchor position for a Sunday night news show that goes in-depth with its stories. And of course, Kelly would also be a big part of NBC's political coverage, along with any other big events that would be highlighted by the network.

News of this magnitude doesn't come with complete surprise, though, since Megyn Kelly's contract with Fox News is reaching its current end date, which fueled the rumor mill to the point where she had to comment on it. But it is perhaps more shocking that Fox News didn't widen the opening of its pocketbooks to keep Kelly locked in, considering how popular she had become. Behind only Bill O'Reilly in terms of viewership, she was a big reason why the network was so strong in the ratings in 2016.

The amount of money that NBC News is offering Megyn Kelly is one piece of the puzzle that's still non-disclosed, but you can bet it's an impressive sum. She was reportedly seeking upwards of $20 million a year, which would be a $5 million increase per year. Although it's likely that money isn't the only factor playing into Kelly's decision for her future. The past year has been extremely hectic for her at Fox News, both concerning all that went on during the Presidential debates, in which Donald Trump repeatedly singled her out in his outbursts, and in the sexual harassment allegations that circled former head honcho Roger Ailes. NBC News had its own scandal with Brian Williams' faux reports, but that isn't something Kelly has to worry about.

As the conversations and paper-shuffling is supposedly going on behind closed doors, there's no telling how long we'll be waiting to see what happens next with Megyn Kelly's time at Fox News. But you can bet NBC is trying to speed it up, and that everyone in the cable news world is going to have something to say about it.

Fox News made her a big name, but now that her contract is coming up, reports have indicated the hotshot reporter may make her way to another network. While the rumors have been rampant for weeks, Megyn Kelly has finally sought to address them, noting this:

She gets to craft an entire series around her point of view, inviting millions of people to tune in. She also gets to be involved with a lot of the big ticket stories over at Fox News, including election coverage. However, recent reports have indicated that with her contract coming up, Megyn Kelly really wants upwards of $20 million dollars to stay with the network. If Fox News won't give her the contract another network might, which is how rumors that Megyn Kelly might be leaving Fox News for CNN or another network have spread like wildfire.

Still, Megyn Kelly is sticking to her guns about the speculation. She recently took to Twitter to explain that we shouldn't buy into the rumors and that she will make an announcement as soon as a decision about her next contract has been made. It's hard not to talk when there's potentially $20 million on the line, but the big question is whether or not Fox News values Megyn Kelly enough to shell out the big bucks to keep her on the air. If not, there's bound to be another network or project that would be happy to snap the well-known name in journalism up.

Currently, The Kelly File is doing pretty well on Fox News. It reportedly averages around 2.7 million total viewers, which is really good for a news program but not quite as good as The O'Reilly Factor (which averages over 3 million) or some of Fox News' other shows. Usually a person's contract reflects their importance as part of a network and we'll have to wait and see where Megyn Kelly will be the best fit.

Kelly Ripa did something that most celebrities would never dare to do: she opened up about a botched Botox injection. The daytime host talked about the incident on her show Live With Kelly on Wednesday morning with her guest co-host Megyn Kelly.

After Megyn Kelly revealed her "bad side" to Kelly Ripa --- that is, the side of her face that she thinks looks worse in photographs --- Ripa revealed that she recently went through a period where she felt both sides of her face weren't photogenic due to an unfortunate Botox mistake. Ripa said that the botched injections occurred about a year ago, and caused people to grow curious as to why she smiled less often.

Photographs from around the time that Kelly Ripa described show that the talk show host did tend smile less broadly or cover her mouth more often.

Thankfully, Kelly Ripa shared that she is now starting to feel like herself, and her full, beaming smile is definitely proof of that.

The Wall Street Journal reports that in the final year of her contract, Megyn Kelly is currently making $15 million, and while a salary north of $20 million would be a sizable increase--at least percentage-wise--apparently Fox News is looking to make a deal to keep Megyn Kelly with the network after her contract runs out. At Fox News, that's the type of salary that only heavyweights like Bill O'Reilly command. The Kelly File isn't quite as popular as Bill O'Reilly's show, but it does do very well in the ratings, averaging 2.7 million viewers. (O'Reilly's show generally averages over 3 million.)

Megyn Kelly's name has come up a lot over the past year. She was in the limelight when Donald Trump notoriously feuded with her earlier in the debate cycle. Her name came up again when Roger Ailes was dealing with sexual harassment claims, although she didn't file a lawsuit or officially come forward like Gretchen Carlson did. She also caused a minor controversy with certain factions of the population at the Republican National Convention when she did on-air reporting in a spaghetti strapped dress.

As an on-air personality, it's pretty clear that Megyn Kelly is in demand. There's a good chance she's also being wooed by other channels for different sorts of gigs, and whether or not she sticks with Fox News will likely depend on two factors: how much she enjoys The Kelly File and how much various companies are willing to pay her. More than $20 million is a huge sum, albeit not outlandish, but it remains to be seen whether or not Fox News wants to shell out that much just to keep her on board. We'll let you know how the whole contract deal shakes out in the coming months.

Sometimes the best moments on TV happen unexpectedly. That’s certainly the case with this 2014 “Best News Bloopers” video, which is basically a giant supercut of a variety of reporters as they deal with earthquake encounters, slips of the tongue mistakes, falls and other on-air mishaps. Here at CinemaBlend, we are a big fan of live bloopers, and this supercut features some of our favorites from 2014, including the Alaskan news anchor who quit live on the air, Erykah Badu’s interruption of a live news cast, Megyn Kelly’s famous F-bomb slip over at Fox News, and Samuel L. Jackson’s on air rant about how he isn’t Laurence Fishburne. But even if you’ve already caught those epic 2014 moments, there’s still plenty of new—and weird—stuff to catch in this 15-minute supercut.

There are celebrities saying uncouth things live on the air and random people on the street obnoxiously jumping into the camera frame, sometimes in costume. We also get to see some dudes tear down a news desk during a fight and plenty of on-air flubs, such as when a news anchorwoman refers to the NCAA as the NAACP. Toward the very end, the audio goes out during a local broadcast, and the two news anchors write witty phrases on cue cards to keep the audience entertained. It’s a good mix of different types of funny accidents and flubs on local and national TV stations, as well as some non-American broadcasts, and it definitely makes you think about how hard it is to actually put together a live news broadcast.

As an on-air TV personality for Fox News, Megyn Kelly is rarely anything but professional. She’s so good, she’s even managed to land her own show, The Kelly File, on the network. However, on Monday night, she blundered while introducing a prominent politician, accidentally dropping an F-bomb. Check it out.

During Monday’s episode of The Kelly File, former Governor of Arkansas and 2008 Republican caucus hopeful Mike Huckabee was signed on to appear on Megyn Kelly’s show. Before he even manages to utter a sentence, Kelly gives him a brief introduction, attempting to explain that he is the former governor and host of the talk show Huckabee. Instead, she calls the talk program “Fuckabee.” I’m not sure if that was just a terrible mistake or if that’s secretly how she refers to the politician in her head, but either way it’s pretty funny. Here’s the full quote.

To her credit, she remains pretty calm and gains her composure quickly, fixing her mistake. Mike Huckabee is also pretty funny to watch in the short video, as he gets a bemused smile on his face when she makes her big flub. Later in the show, Megyn Kelly self-beeps out a curse word when reading a quote, and jokingly refers back to her “worse” flub from earlier in the program. She also notes she doesn’t even know why she’s bothering to cut out the curse, since she already dropped other curse words during the program.

Megyn Kelly is a huge name on Fox News at this point. She’s built up a lot of equity and is unlikely to be adversely affected by the flub over the long-term, although the news has blown up on social media this morning. On the bright side, Kelly has stayed away from addressing the big oops mistake on social media and in a couple of days, it should all be forgotten, by everyone who is not Mike Fuckabee. Well, you knew what I meant.

Unfortunately, not everyone gets the opportunity to come back from an epic F-bomb. A local news anchor in North Dakota was fired a couple of years ago for accidentally dropping profanity while on the air—and he certainly wasn’t messing up a prominent politician’s name. While that seems like a particularly harsh punishment, it just goes to show you that news anchors are in the public eye all the time and really have to watch out for mistakes like these, even if they seem funny to most of the viewers who happen to catch the segment. Here’s to hoping that Megyn Kelly’s next few telecasts of The Kelly File happen to be as flawless as her latest hairdo.

Fox News Channel is making some big lineup changes, moving around Sean Hannity and Greta Van Susteren’s respective shows, all to make room for the network’s female darling, Megyn Kelly, whose sharp wit, tact, and ease on camera have made her a major asset to the network over the last several years. Now, she’ll star in her own primetime drama, The Kelly File.

The new lineup will look a little different than in year’s past. On the Record with Greta Van Susteren is taking the 7 p.m. ET hour, which is not quite primetime but should still offer the chance to build a solid base. Bill O’ Reilly will follow at 8 p.m. ET. His program will be the only show that will stick in its current timeslot, which should literally be no surprise to anyone who watches Fox News. The O’Reilly Factor is the most-watched cable news program and the network is smart to keep a good thing going.

This brings us to Kelly’s new program, The Kelly File. That’s the same name as a segment Kelly has run on The O’Reilly Factor in the past, making the hop, skip and a jump to the timeslot following O’Reilly’s show a little fitting. The new program is expected to cover breaking news, interviews, and some taped reports. Kelly showed the same graceful drive and gratitude she’s exuded on Fox News Channel in the past when the network made the announcement this morning.

While it’s good news for Kelly, it’s a mixed bag for Sean Hannity, who will be moving to the 10 p.m. ET slot. Hannity’s actually done well in the 9 p.m. timeslot in the past, but apparently the network wants to give a leading lady a shot. Despite the bump back, Hannity is either legitimately happy with or trying to make the best of the change, noting that he can either air live or tape in that slot and feels freer to spend some evenings with his family. Hannity does have kids still living at home and now that he’s made a name for himself, he can afford to spend time with them.

Overall, whether or not you are a big fan of FNC’s brand of news programs, big changes are afoot, and it should be a refreshing change of pace to viewers who have gotten much of the same old same old from the cable news network over the past decade or so. For everyone’s sake, hopefully the alterations wind up being a hit with fans, and Kelly will continue to grow as a likeable talking head. You can catch Kelly and the lineup changes in action when they hit the schedule on October 7.
