Without a doubt, one of the most talked-about 2026 movie releases yet to release is Craig Gillespie’s DCU debut Supergirl, even if a lot of the talk centered on the upcoming superhero feature has skewed less than positive. I’m all about bringing more sloppy drunks into the DCU,, so I’m keeping an open mind about Milly Alcock’s full-length portrayal of Kara Zor-El, but wowzers is it hard to avoid the litany of potshots being aimed at a new line of Supergirl action figures.

Every modern comic book movie seems destined for toy lines, with McFarlane Toys among the most utilized companies, for better or worse. And “worse” would probably be what a lot of fans would use to describe their feelings about the impending figure releases designed to resemble Alcock’s heroine, as well as the special edition figure honoring Melissa Benoist’s Supergirl who helped keep the Arrowverse safe. Fans have long debated which actress owns the role, but most seem to be in agreement that their toy likenesses suck.

Fan Comments About Milly Alcock's Supergirl Figure

Starting with the first McFarlane Toys post showcasing Supergirl and her sword, with posts about the Deluxe Theatrical Edition featuring Krypto to follow, fans immediately went in on just how wildly inaccurate and non-detailed the figure looks. Most honed in on the facial features,

• The face 😭😭😭
• Butterface
• Her face looks like something from White Chicks 🤣
• Did Todd hire a blind raccoon to do the head sculpt?
• I especially like that she has no neck.
• This dude couldn’t do a good face sculpt if his life depended on it.

I tend to avoid agreeing with mindless complaints being shared online, but I also got White Chicks vibes when I first caught sight of these figures. Maybe it's the general squareness of the sculpt. Or maybe Shawn Wayans actually was used as the 3D model for these.

Meanwhile, others on X were also quick to criticize the plastic Supergirl's thin appendages, as well as the general shoddiness for a toy promoting one of the most advertised movies of the year.

To be sure, some of the commenters are likely the same ones who populate social media with other forms of Supergirl hate, but for what it's worth, most of the negativity I saw aimed at the toys were wholly on topic, without taking direct aim at Alcock herself, who has spoken out about facing fandom toxicity from her relatively short stint on HBO’s House of the Dragon.

I do wonder if the actress would agree with the online sentiment that the designs look off, or if she will embrace the toys regardless. Probably the latter, but I bet the former happens at least once behind closed doors.

Melissa Benoist's Supergirl Figure Also Earns Tons Of Flak

Though the Arrowverse went defunct several years ago, James Gunn's DCU has given The CW shows' fanbase reason to continue decrying new cast members in favor of those who donned the capes and tights on the small screen. Once again, though, it seems all impulses to debate issues are quelled by the need to agree that this figure's face design is just as wonky as the one for Alcock. Check it out below:

Yikes, amirite? At least when it comes to the actual humans themselves, Benoist has been supportive of Alcock taking over the role, and doesn't want to echo the internet's less than savory sentiments.

Create your own Kara toy line to celebrate the upcoming DC movie Supergirl hitting theaters on June 26, 2026.

Netflix doesn’t always put a ton of budget behind its original projects, but one definite exception seems to be its new 2025 release The Waterfront. The show has pretty much everything one would need to be a desirable series: Its cast is top-notch, it has an intriguing name and setting, and it’s unrelentingly shocking. It’s also certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, but now that I'm three episodes in, I still feel like it’s missing something.

What Do You Need To Know About The Waterfront?

Briefly the top trending show, the freshman drama on Netflix is the No.2 show on the streamer at the time of this writing. Typically not holding out at No. 1 for a few weeks can be a bad sign, as Netflix is known for canceling first season shows, but these are not fair waters. In fact, The Waterfront landed on Netflix just a few days before Squid Game Season 3, and that show has just crushed the competition. So, in this case, No. 2 probably isn’t so bad.

The Waterfront also has a positive Rotten Tomatoes rating from both the critics and the audience, and while neither is the freshest rating I’ve ever seen, people seem to be on board with the drama, which follows a family dipping its toes into the criminal underworld to keep the family business afloat. It also stars former Supergirl Melissa Benoist, as well as popular Mind Hunter actor Holt McCallany, Dave Annable, and Maria Bello, who despite an Emmy nomination has been highly underrated in Hollywood (in my opinion).

It helps the show is set in a very pretty looking fictional waterfront town in North Carolina and the show itself comes from the mind of Kevin Williamson, who also wrote the original screenplay for Scream and has been involved in a variety of other successful franchises on the big and small screen (The Vampire Diaries, I Know What You Did Last Summer, The Following).

On paper, this is a recipe for success, but is The Waterfront actually a binge-worthy Netflix show?

Is The Waterfront Actually Worth Watching Though?

Listen, I get that a 65% rating means people like something pretty well and not crazy well. I also understand that I am only three episodes into this eight-episode season and haven’t seen everything the new drama has to offer yet, but given the way those with a Netflix subscription have been consuming The Waterfront, I have to think people find it good enough to stick with it.

From my point of view, however, while the show is occasionally well-drawn and features some good performances, I just can’t help but have the following problems with it so far:

• The show is meant to be overly dramatic but there are also random acts of violence that are used as shock value in a way I found grossly underwhelming.
• Melissa Benoist is almost unrecognizable in this role compared to her character in Supergirl, and I don’t want to take away from her performance, at all. However, she and most of the characters in this series are deeply unlikable and I’m not really rooting for anyone.
• Something about the way this show is written irritates me. I can’t fully put a finger on it, but The Waterfront takes itself very seriously, and I think we may have been better served if it was a little fluffier, and tonally closer to something like Revenge.

I’ve been told by a coworker who has also been covering The Waterfront that things really start heating up in Episode 4, so I’m holding out hope the story starts to anchor its way in my heart. It’s true that some shows really take most of a season or a full season to get some wind under their belt. But for now, I feel a bit adrift while watching.

The superhero genre continues to be wildly popular, with a number of shared universes currently in play. Fans are definitely hyped for upcoming DC movies, and are curious about James Gunn's plans for the first slate or projects titled Gods and Monsters. A number of beloved characters are returning to the screen, including Supergirl. And now Melissa Benoist has shared her A+ perspective about Milly Alcock taking on the role of Supergirl.

What we know about Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is limited, but Alcock has wrapped her role as the title character. Melissa Benoist famously played that hero throughout in various CW shows (streaming with a Netflix subscription), and was asked an in interview with WatchMojo about the developing DCU. She shared her thoughts about the character's legacy, offering:

Points were made. Rather than feeling ownership over Supergirl, she seems to love the way multiple actors have been able to play Kryptonians throughout the years. What's more, the Glee star is actually excited to see how Alcock's tenure as her signature role goes down.

The DCU (which is streaming with a Max subscription) is still in its very early stages, with only Creature Commandos being released so far. But that'll change with James Gunn's Superman, as well as Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. While fans are curious about which actors will play iconic comic book characters, Milly Alcock is beginning her tenure as Supergirl. And her predecessor seems pleased as punch for what comes next.

What we know about Superman isn't much, but Alcock is expected to debut as Supergirl sometime throughout its runtime. Exactly how much screen time she gets remains to be seen, but that'll presumably set up her appearance in Woman of Tomorrow. And given her genre work in House of the Dragon, the 25 year-old actress seems like the perfect person to bring Kara Zor-El to life on the big screen.

Melissa Benoist starred in Supergirl for a whopping six seasons on The CW, in addition to appearances on other shows and crossover events. But despite the years dedicated to portraying this DC hero, she seems just as hyped as the rest of us to see what Alcock will do with the role. Bring it on!

Superman will hit theaters on July 8th as part of the 2025 movie release list, and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will follow suit on June 26th, 2026.

In any case-of-the-week procedural, you get a slew of guest stars popping in and out. However, in The Good Wife, the army of talent Robert and Michelle King’s show assembled to support the cast of regulars is next level. From actors we already knew and loved when the show was airing on CBS in the 2010s to performers who have since become A-list names, this list is really a who’s-who of Hollywood’s finest talents.

Pedro Pascal - Nathan Landry - 6 Episodes

These days, we know Pedro Pascal as Mr. Fantastic in the Fantastic Four or Joel in The Last of Us. I think there’s an argument to be made that The Good Wife should be considered one of Michael J. Fox’s best projects. Yes, there’s Family Ties, Back to the Future and Spin City. However, his cunning and sly lawyer Louis Canning is an incredible character who he plays to perfection in 26 episodes across Seasons 2 through 7.

Ana Gasteyer - Judge Patrice Lessner - 5 Episodes

Making sure the lawyers say “in my opinion” in their various statements is Judge Patrice Lessner’s signature move, and it’s hilarious. That funny element of this character is perfect, too, considering she’s played in Seasons 1, 2, 4 and 6 by Saturday Night Live alum and comedy genius Ana Gasteyer.

Mike Colter - Lemond Bishop - 21 Episodes

Mike Colter has become a Michelle and Robert King repertory player thanks to his leading role in the show Evil, and you likely also recognize him for playing the titular Luke Cage in the Marvel series. However, before that, he played the drug lord Lemond Bishop in 21 episodes of The Good Wife between Seasons 1 and 6.

Melissa Benoist - Molly - 1 Episode

Sarah Silverman had been in the comedy game for a long time before playing Stephanie Engler in Season 2, Episode 22 of The Good Wife. And she brought that sense of humor to the show while also showing off her more dramatic side while playing this client of Lockhart/Gardner.

Nathan Lane - Clarke Hayden - 15 Episodes

In the beginning (Season 4), Clarke Hayden is a trustee assigned to Lockheart/ Gardner, and he worked on their horrendous financial situation. Later, he worked with the firm as a lawyer. This character who appears in 15 episodes across Seasons 4 and 5 is played by the remarkable Nathan Lane, who you most definitely know from his legendary work in films like The Birdcage, The Producers and The Lion King.

Carrie Preston - Elsbeth Tascioni - 14 Episodes

Carrie Preston’s Elsbeth Tascioni was so iconic on The Good Wife and The Good Fight that she got her own show. After starring in 14 episodes of the flagship show across every season (except Season 2) and five episodes of the spinoff and winning an Emmy for her work, the Kings created Elsbeth, a hit CBS show based around Preston’s lawyer-turned-crime-solver.

Stockard Channing - Veronica Loy - 11 Episodes

Da’Vine Joy Randolph - Margie - 1 Episode

Oscar winner Da’Vine Joy Randolph appeared in one episode of The Good Wife, Season 4, Episode 21, to be exact. She played Margie on the show. These days, she’s best known for her turns in The Holdover, Dolemite is My Name and Only Murders in the Building, so it’s cool to think that this CBS procedural was one of her first-ever on-screen gigs.

Gillian Jacobs - Sonia - 1 Episode

In an almost blink and you’ll miss it role, Gillian Jacobs (of Community fame) appeared in the pilot of The Good Wife as Alicia and Cary’s assistant.

We know and love Wallace Shawn for saying “inconceivable” in The Princess Bride, and we also adore him for his roles in The Incredibles, Toy Story and more. It’s honestly a joy to see Matthew Lillard in anything. Of course, we know him best as one of the original Ghostfaces in Scream and Shaggy from Scooby-Doo, and he’s made waves in recent years for Five Nights at Freddys. However, he can do more than genre work, as proven by his two episodes of The Good Wife (Season 5, Episode 11 and Season 7, Episode 12) where he played musician Rowby Canton.

Vanessa Williams - Courtney Paige - 4 Episodes

Vanessa Williams is well known and loved for her roles on long-lasting shows like Ugly Betty and Desperate Housewives. However, she’s also a King repertory player. She appeared in four episodes of The Good Wife, Season 7, Episodes 7 through 10, as CEO Courtney Paige, and then she showed up as a totally different character years later in the spinoff series, Elsbeth.

This list is honestly barely scratching the surface of the iconic actors who have been recruited to guest star on The Good Wife. The list is honestly elite, and it’s always fun to go back and see so many performers during so many different stages of their careers.

Melissa Benoist may be best known for her six seasons as leading lady of Supergirl at this point in her career, but her big break into TV came via Glee, where she played Marley Rose for two of that show's final three seasons. Recently, the actress opened up about the pressure from Glee and how it prepared her to join the Arrowverse alongside Arrow's Stephen Amell, The Flash's Grant Gustin, and many others.

Supergirl was a wild ride for Melissa Benoist, as it involved not only her first lead role, but involved starting on CBS before moving to The CW, joining a superhero franchise already going strong, and meeting her future husband on set. As it turns out, the workload of Glee helped her gain confidence. Speaking on Collider's Ladies Night, she said:

Although the two shows were quite different, Marley on Glee helped Benoist to believe in what she was capable of to play Kara on Supergirl. That's not to say that some of her Glee skills didn't come in handy on Supergirl beyond being ready for the work ahead of her. A crossover with The Flash united her with fellow Glee alum Grant Gustin for a fun but bonkers musical episode, which actually made sense within the loose rules of the Arrowverse.

Supergirl was the second of the main Arrowverse shows to come to an end, with Kara's final adventure airing in November 2021, just shy of two years after Arrow wrapped in early 2020. Benoist continues to speak about her superhero role, however, including her explanation for why she won't give Milly Alcock advice as Alcock gears up to play the character on the big screen. (The Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow release date is set for June 2026.)

While starring on a network TV show for six seasons and more than 125 episodes – along with the series surviving the COVID-19 production complications – is a major accomplishment for Benoist, her post-Supergirl TV work hasn't been quite as successful despite her hard work. She arrived on Max for subscribers as star and producer of The Girls on the Bus back in the early spring, but the show was cancelled after one season in May.

You can revisit Melissa Benoist's time on Supergirl easily enough if you have a Netflix subscription. All six seasons are currently available streaming on the platform, along with the full runs of Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow if you want to revisit Arrowverse crossovers. The streaming business can be quite unpredictable as far as content is concerned. While plenty of platforms have churned out a number of popular shows that run for multiple seasons, many have a tendency to do away with productions after only one. Most notably, Netflix has axed one-season series more than a few times more than a few times over the past several years. Well, another streamer has now pulled the plug on a single-season show, and the company in question is Max. 

What Show Did Max Cancel After Only One Season?

Max, which was originally known as HBO Max, has dropped more than a few fresh titles throughout the spring season, one of which being the drama series The Girls on the Bus. The Melissa Benoist-led series premiered back in March, before finishing up its 10-episode season in early May. Fans may now be said to learn, though, that the finale will now serve as the series’ capper, as Deadline reports that it's been axed. Following the decision, the entertainment company released a statement, which was shared with the trade: 

The show is co-created by The Vampire Diaries’ Julie Plece and Amy Chozick, whose 2018 memoir, Chasing Hillary, served as the basis for the series. It follows four very different female journalists, who are covering a fictional election and in the process of doing that, form a bond. Melissa Benoist (former star of the since-ended Supergirl) is joined in the ensemble cast by Christina Elmore, Natasha Behnam, Brandon Scott and Carla Gugino. The series has received relatively mixed reviews since its debut.

News of the political drama’s demise is sure to disappoint those who’d become invested in it. What those people should keep in mind, though, is that they’re not the only ones feeling the pain associated with a streaming show being cut after only one season. 

Other Series Have Been Canceled After One Season During The Past Several Months

Among the canceled or ending shows in 2024 are a few titles that have short stints on streaming services. In late March, Hulu canceled Death and Other Details – a mystery comedy starring Mandy Patinkin and Violett Beane – after only one season. At the beginning of the year, Disney+ also axed American Born after eight episodes, despite the fantastical coming-of-age series having a Rotten Tomatoes score over 90%. That show also had some serious star power behind it, as Oscar winners Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan were two of the cast members. 

Additionally, Netflix canned action-comedy Obliterated after one season in February. And, the following month, the streamer extended that same decision on freshman title (and fellow Michell Yeoh-fronted drama) The Brothers Sun, in what was an under-the-radar cancellation. This month, Apple TV+’s Constellation was put to rest as well after a single season. So it goes without saying that The Girls on the Bus is far from alone. 

Melissa Benoist’s show could, theoretically, be picked up by another streamer but, as of right now, there’s been no indication as to whether that’s a true possibility. At any rate, you can still stream the series in its entirety using a Max subscription, and anyone who’s looking for something new can check out the 2024 TV schedule.

Chyler Leigh has had a lot of notable roles during her TV career, but the one superhero fans probably know her for is Supergirl, which wrapped back in 2021. In the series she played Alex Danvers, sister to Melissa Benoist’s Kara Danvers. The two have previously spoken about being close during their time on the show, and now The Way Home actress would love to reunite with her on her newer Hallmark series. The thing is, she even has a great idea about how it could happen. 

In fact, now that The Way Home is renewed for Season 3, she wants a Supergirl reference of sorts on her cable series. If you know anything about The Way Home, it follows a mother and daughter who move to a small Canadian farm with grandmother Del during a transitional period in their lives. Serendipitous pond dips lead them to learn they can time travel into the past, but it turns out they aren't the only individuals with that particular skill. 

And Leigh thinks her former onscreen sister could be a good fit, noting she'd like to see her in the following role: 

While she’s seemingly joking a bit about the levitating in her interview with TV Line, the idea that more people could time travel through the pond is an intriguing one, and a completely plausible one. So far, the only people who have gone through have seemed to be from the Landry bloodline; however, animals have seemingly traveled through time too, as evidence by Jacob’s dog. So, theoretically there should be more people out there – or even more Landry family members – with a similar gift. 

I honestly have no idea how much crossover there is between Supergirl and The Way Home, but I do know there must be some overlap, as I watched both. In addition, even if you don’t know the connection between Benoist and Leigh, if done in a way that forwards the plot, having her on would serve as a cool moment for those in the know, and would just be part of the storyline for those who don't care about the Arrowverse. Feels like a win-win if you were to ask me. 

While The Way Home Season 3 is coming, we don’t know a ton about what’s next outside of the cliffhanger Season 2 ended on, so there’s lots of room for the next set of episodes to go in new and exciting directions. 

Meanwhile Melissa Benoist’s been busy with some voice work roles and The Girls on the Bus, a drama you can watch with a Max subscription. There’s no word on whether Season 2 of that series will be greenlighted or when Season 3 of the Hallmark series will be coming to the 2024 TV schedule, and perhaps that means her schedule could be open for a reunion with her former TV sister? 

I hear being dunked in The Way Home's pond water is not for the faint of heart, but if there's anyone who would probably be game for it, it would be Benoist, who has been put through the wire for stunts in the past. (Literally, Supergirl's wire work was "really difficult.") Given how well the two get along, this is one cameo or role I'm really hoping works out. 

In 2012, Arrow premiered on The CW and kicked off a shared universe of DC Comics properties on television. The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, Batwoman and Black Lightning followed, and for nearly a decade, this franchise delivered interconnected stories that channeled the same appeal that their comic book source material had been doing for decades. Many superheroes were featured in the Arrowverse, but we’re here to talk about 32 that had major roles in the franchise.

Before going further, there are some stipulations to point out. First, these characters need to have been established in the comics as superheroes before they were introduced in the Arrowverse, hence why characters like Nia Nal/Dreamer, Sara Lance/White Canary and John Diggle/Spartan aren’t on here. Second, these characters need to be chiefly known as heroes in the comics, which is why the likes of Captain Cold, Heat Wave and Killer Frost won’t be mentioned. Finally, we’re only covering the six live-action shows that made up the main Arrowverse continuity, both pre and post-“Crisis on Infinite Earths,” so don’t go looking for people from shows like Superman & Lois and Stargirl.

Green Arrow

Arrow starred Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, and while he initially went by The Hood and The Arrow, this version of Oliver finally started going by Green Arrow in Season 4. In addition to his eight seasons leading Arrow, Amell’s Oliver participated in all the biggest Arrowverse crossover events. He died in “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” but fans got to reunite with him in the Arrow series finale and The Flash episode “It's My Party and I'll Die If I Want To.”

The Flash

Oliver Queen may have ushered in the Arrowverse, but it wasn’t until Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen got struck by that bolt of lightning that this franchise started getting truly fantastical and fully embracing its superhero roots. Barry protected the citizens of Central City for nine seasons of The Flash, and he was also present for every big Arrowverse crossover event. This Barry also had the unique privilege of being the only Arrowverse hero to cross over with the DCEU, as he met Ezra Miller’s Flash in “Crisis on Infinite Earths.”

Supergirl

Although Supergirl originally debuted on CBS, it was established to take part in the wider Arrowverse continuity when Barry Allen traveled to the Earth of Melissa Benoist’s Kara Danvers late in Season 1. Those ties only grew stronger once the show moved to The CW, and from there, Kara rounded out the Arrowverse’s main trinity of superheroes with Barry and Oliver Queen. At the end of “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” Kara’s Earth merged with the franchise’s main Earth, so Supergirl concluded its six-season run in the same world where the majority of her superhero cohorts now live.

Batwoman

Initially Batwoman starred Ruby Rose as Kate Kane, the same character who holds the mantle in the comics. However, following Rose’s exit post-Season 1, Ryan Wilder (seen above) was created to take over as the vigilante, with Javicia Leslie being cast to play her. Batwoman only lasted three seasons, but both Kate (later played by Wallis Day) and Ryan still stood out as important heroes before, during and after that time, with the former appearing in both the “Elseworlds” and “Crisis on Infinite Earths crossovers,” and the latter both reprising her role on The Flash and playing an evil speedster version of Ryan called Red Death early in Season 9.

Black Lightning

When Black Lightning came along, there was absolutely nothing connecting it to the Arrowverse. Jefferson Pierce’s return to superheroing unfolded in its own corner of the multiverse, but then “Crisis on Infinite Earths” came along and merged his Earth with the main Arrowverse Earth and Supergirl’s. Cress Williams would later reprise Jefferson for an episode of The Flash Season 8, but it was across Black Lightning’s four-season run where he shined best, with no one but the allies in his immediate circle on hand to help him out.

Black Canary

Five individuals held the Black Canary mantle in the Arrowverse: Sara Lance, the Laurel Lance from Earth-1, Evelyn Sharp, Dinah Drake (seen above), and the Laurel Lance from Earth-2. Of those five, the two Laurels and Dinah were able to unleash a sonic scream on their enemies, although Earth-1’s Laurel’s came from a device rather than as a metahuman ability like the other two. There had been plans for Katie Cassidy and Juliana Harkavy to continue respectively playing Earth-2 Laurel and Dinah alongside Katherine McNamara’s Mia Smoak in a Green Arrow & The Canaries spinoff, but it was never picked up.

The Atom

Brandon Routh’s Ray Palmer debuted at the beginning of Arrow Season 3, where he would unveil his A.T.O.M. exosuit. After initially having been presumed dead by the end of the season, Ray resurfaced in Season 4 having been revealed to be shrunken to the size of an atom, and he was able to incorporate shrinking into his exosuit. From there, he became one of the founding Legends of Tomorrow and stuck around on that show as a series regular until midway through Season 5.

Arsenal

By Arrow Season 3, Colton Haynes’ Roy Harper, who’d already appeared in the first two seasons, had taken up archery and joined Oliver Queen in fighting crime as Arsenal, though he was also called Red Arrow by the media. Although Roy had to leave Team Arrow that same season after he masqueraded as The Arrow and faked his death, he would still pop in and out of the show throughout the rest of Arrow’s run to help out his friends. He also followed in his comic book counterpart’s footsteps by gaining a cybernetic arm.

Speedy

The second Speedy in the comics was Mia Dearden, so it was only appropriate that Willa Holland's Thea Queen, who was a loose adaptation of the character, also received that name. When Roy left Star City, he left his Arsenal costume behind, and she made adjustments to it so she could wear it out in the field and join her brother Oliver as a bow-and-arrow-wielding superhero. Eventually she embarked on a personal crusade to battle the Thanatos Guild.

Vibe

Carlos Valdés’ Cisco Ramon was already a valued member of Team Flash at the beginning as its tech genius, but after he discovered he was a metahuman capable of manipulating dimensional energy, he became Vibe. Cisco took a metahuman cure in Season 5, but he continued to fight crime as Mecha-Vibe using a suit that provided him with some of his former powers until he left in Season 7 to join A.R.G.U.S.

Superman

I know, I said I wouldn’t include anybody from Superman & Lois on this list. However, in this case, I’m talking about the Superman from Earth-38/Earth-Prime. In other words, this is the Clark Kent who appeared on Supergirl and participated in “Elseworlds” and “Crisis on Infinite Earths.” We’d assumed he was also the one leading Superman & Lois until it was revealed that show is set on another Earth.

Martian Manhunter

Originally Supergirl viewers thought David Harewood was playing Hank Henshaw, the man who became Cyborg Superman in the comics. But early in Season 1, it was revealed that his character was actually J’onn J’onzz, a.k.a. Martian Manhunter, who assumed Henshaw’s identity to try and do good as the director of the Department of Extranormal Operations. Harewood would later play the sinister Henshaw for a few episodes, but it was J’onn who stuck around for all of Supergirl as one of Kara’s most important allies.

Elongated Man

Ralph Dibny gained his elastic powers from The Thinker’s machinations in The Flash Season 4, and after being stabilized, he joined Team Flash to help them fight crime as Elongated Man. Hartley Sawyer portrayed the character through to the end of Season 6, but after the actor was fired from the show, a stand-in performer was used for the Season 7 premiere. While healing from some major burns, Ralph decided to leave Team Flash to travel the world with Sue Dearbon and dismantle various criminal organizations.

Vixen

Although Mari McCabe, the Vixen from the comics, was played by Megalyn Echikunwoke in the Vixen and The Ray animated web series, as well as an episode of Arrow, it was the character’s grandmother, Amaya Jiwe (seen above), who got more attention in the Arroverse. An original character created for Legends of Tomorrow, Amaya, played by Maisie Richardson-Sellers, was active as Vixen during World War II as a Justice Society member, and after traveling through time with the Legends for a while, she returned to her original time period at the end of Season 3. Richardson-Sellers then stuck around a few more seasons as a shapeshifter named Charlie.

Firestorm

Just like in the comics, the Arrowverse’s original Firestorm duo consisted of Robbie Amell’s Ronnie Raymond and Victor Garber’s Martin Stein, with the two being recurring characters in The Flash Season 1. However, after Ronnie died in the Season 2 premiere, Stein merged a few episodes later with Franz Drameh’s Jefferson “Jax” Jackson (seen above), and the two went on to join the Legends of Tomorrow. That’s where they stayed until Stein died in the “Crisis on Earth X” crossover, prompting Jax to leave and resume his normal life.

John Constantine

Although NBC’s Constantine series only lasted one season, Matt Ryan was able to keep playing the trenchcoat-wearing sorcerer in multiple other ways, most notably in the Arrowverse. Following a guest appearance in Arrow Season 4, he returned two years later in Legends of Tomorrow, where he eventually became part of the team and hung around until the end of Season 6. Even then, Ryan remained on the series to play Gwyn Davies, the inventor of time travel.

Kid Flash

Depicted as Iris West’s long-lost brother rather than her nephew like in the comics, Keiynan Lonsdale’s Wally West was introduced midway through The Flash Season 2. After Season 3’s premiere showed him as the Kid Flash of the Flashpoint timeline, the main version of Wally gained super speed when Doctor Alchemy restored his powers from that other reality. Wally exited as a series regular at the beginning of The Flash Season 4, but would later make guest appearances in Seasons 6 and 9, as well as appearing in the latter half of Legends of Tomorrow Season 3.

Jay Garrick

After it was revealed that the Jay Garrick that viewers had been following along with in The Flash Season 2 was really the sinister Zoom, the real Jay was revealed at the end of that season to be a doppelgänger of Henry Allen from Earth-3. With John Wesley Shipp having played Barry Allen in The Flash TV show from 1990 (whom he also reprised in “Elseworlds and “Crisis on Infinite Earths”), it was only fitting that he also play this veteran speedster as well.

Thunder/Blackbird

If you’re making a show about Black Lightning, then it’s only appropriate that you include his superhero daughters too. The first of them was Nafessa Williams’ Anissa Pierce, a.k.a. Thunder, although there were also various instances where she went by the moniker Blackbird. Unlike her father and sister, Anissa didn’t generate and manipulate electricity, but rather was able to manipulate her density with her breathing, giving her super strength and durability.

Lightning

Like her superhero name clearly indicates, not only did Jennifer Pierce inherit the same kind of powers as her father, but she also had the added ability to generate electricity on her own rather than just manipulate it like Jefferson. China Anne McClain played Jennifer for the majority of Black Lightning’s run, but for a good chunk of Season 4, Laura Kariuki took over the role, though this was later revealed to be an ionosphere entity who stole her identity.

Mister Terrific

After being introduced in Arrow Season 4 as a Palmer Technologies employee who worked closely with Felicity Smoak, Echo Kellum’s Curtis Holt (rather than Michael Holt, like in the comics) officially joined Team Arrow at the beginning of Season 5, taking the identity Mr. Terrific, which had previously belonged to his favorite wrestler. Curtis stuck with the team until the end of Season 6, and from there he briefly worked for A.R.G.U.S., then took a job in Washington D.C.

Wild Dog

Instead of using Jack Wheeler from the comics, Arrow gave that superhero identity to the original character Rene Ramirez, played by Rick Gonzalez. Although frequently hotheaded, Rene was nonetheless another valued member of Team Arrow for many seasons, though there was a period where he, Curtis and Dinah formed their own group. Eventually, Rene retired from being Wild Dog and became mayor of Star City by the end of the show.

XS

While XS is indeed a character from the comics, The Flash’s version of her is a melding of her and Barry Allen’s daughter, who was known as Dawn in the comics. In this show, while it’s implied that’s what Jessica Parker Kennedy’s character used to be named too, changes to the timeline led to her being named Nora, after Barry’s mother. The original version of Kennedy’s Nora was erased from the timeline after Cicada’s dagger was destroyed, but fortunately, a new version of her came into being afterward.

Impulse

Rather than being Barry Allen’s grandson like in the comics, Jordan Fisher’s Bart Allen, a.k.a. Impulse, is depicted as Barry and Iris West’s son, i.e. Nora’s sister. Introduced towards the end of Season 7, and a speedster just like his father and Nora, Impulse shared a special connection with Jay Garrick and had already made an enemy out of Godspeed from his time period.

Guardian

In Supergirl, the Guardian mantle was held by the Olsen siblings rather than Jim Harper or Mal Duncan. James Olsen first started fighting crime as Guardian in Season 2, with Winn Schott making him his suit and shield. Then in Season 6, one season after Mehcad Brooks stopped playing James as a series regular, Azie Tesfai’s Kelly Olsen (seen above) took over as the new Guardian, although James did don his costume one last time in the series finale.

Citizen Steel

Nick Zano’s Nate Heywood joined Legends of Tomorrow at the beginning of Season 2, gaining the ability to transform his body into steel from an experimental serum. This power is more like Colossus’ from the X-Men than the Nate from the comics, but it was a welcome one to have until mustard gas eroded the steel in Season 7, which led to him retiring from the team. This version of Nate also simply went by Steel rather than Citizen Steel, not to be confused with the John Henry Irons Steel.

Mon-El

Hailing from Daxam, a planet populated by Kryptonian offshoots, Mon-El gained the same kind of superpowers as Supergirl when he landed on Earth. However, because he was a spoiled prince from the Daxamite monarchy, it took a while for him to start behaving like a hero. Mon-El and Kara fell in love, but while Chris Wood and Melissa Benoist married in real life, it wasn’t meant to be for the characters. Mon-El ended up traveling to the 31st century and joined the Legion of Super-Heroes.

Batwing

When Batwoman began, Luke Fox initially started out working behind the scenes to help Kate Kane out, having already been keeping Wayne Tower secure on Batman’s behalf. Then in Season 2, Campus Johnson’s character began his own superhero journey, one which culminated in him constructing a supersuit and becoming Batwing, just like in the comics.

Brainiac 5

Brainiac 5 was one of Mon-El’s teammates in the Legion of Super-Heroes, and together with Saturn Girl, they traveled back to the present day in Supergirl Season 3. By the end of that season, Winn Schott decided to travel to the future to stop an AI-killing virus, Jesse Rath’s Brainiac 5, a.k.a. Brainy, stayed in the present and became one of Supergirl’s most valued allies. He also formed a romantic relationship with Nia Nal.

Hawkgirl

Although both Hawkgirl and Harman appeared in Legends of Tomorrow Season 1 following their introductions in the “Heroes Join Forces Crossover,” Ciara Renée’s Kendra Saunders unquestionably had the bigger role. After her version of Carter Hall was killed by Vandal Savage, she joined the Legends to help try to defeat the villain across time. By the end of Season 1, Kendra and a later incarnation of Carter left after Vandal was finally killed for good.

Rip Hunter

Arthur Darvill’s Rip Hunter, one of DC Comics’ greatest time travelers, assembled the Legends of Tomorrow to help him stop Vandal Savage. Season 2 saw him bring brainwashed by the Legion of Doom, but fortunately, their programming was erased, and he then decided to leave the Legends after realizing he had nothing left to teach them. He then spent the next five years of his personal timeline forming the Time Bureau, but by the end of Season 3, Rip sacrificed his stop the demon Mallus.

Jesse Quick

Rather than being Jesse Chambers like in the comics, The Flash’s version of Jesse Quick was Jesse Wells, the daughter of Earth-2’s Harrison Wells. Violett Beane's character gained her super speed after being exposed to dark matter during an attempt to restore Barry Allen’s own speed. By Season 3, she began fighting crime on Earth-2, and occasionally on Earth-1, as Jesse Quick. Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear as though Jesse was restored to life in the new multiverse created during “Crisis on Infinite Earths.”

While the Arrowverse is over, these 32 will be remembered as some of its most prominent superheroes, and there are plenty of others we could spend time talking about. They’re just among the many reasons why this franchise will continue being enjoyed for years to come.

The DCU franchise from Warner Bros. and DC Studios is beginning to take shape and, with that, there have been a lot of casting decisions made. Among the most high-profile hirings have been the ones linked to the cast of James Gunn’s Superman. In addition to that though, fans learned back in January that the character of Supergirl had been cast and that House of the Dragon’s Milly Alcock would take on the role. One of the many people who’s reacted to the development is Melissa Benoist, who played the Arrowverse’s iteration of the Girl of Steel. And, after sharing her initial thoughts, the actress is now explaining why she doesn’t plan to give Alcock any advice, and it makes sense.

It goes without saying that the CW veteran has more than her fair share of experience with the character of Kara Zor-El. After all, she played the role for six seasons as the lead of the superheroine’s eponymous TV series (which can be streamed with a Netflix subscription). With that, one might think that the Glee alum would have some wisdom to dispense to her big-screen successor. However, as she said while talking to ET, she wants to give Milly Alcock a chance to craft her own version of the beloved character: 

This is very understandable. As the star so astutely pointed out, when she was cast as Kara years ago, she had the opportunity to add her own distinct flair to Kal-El/Clark Kent’s cousin. Keeping that logic in mind, the Upright actress should certainly have the opportunity to do the same when she embodies the character within the burgeoning, new franchise. Surely, fans can also appreciate the notion of the rising star having the space to add her own qualities to her iteration of the comic book character.

When she was asked about the DCU casting just a few weeks ago, Melissa Benoist also made a good point about the new Supergirl. She said that “any and all takes on the character are valuable” because of what the character of Kara Danvers stands for. She’s not the only star associated with the character who has sent warm wishes Milly Alcock’s way. Original Supergirl movie actress Helen Slater also welcomed Alcock to the fold by sharing a sweet Instagram post, which shouted out fellow SG portrayers Benoist, Laura Vandervoort and Sasha Calle.

There are still plenty of questions surrounding what lies ahead for Milly Alcock’s Kara in the DCU. However, per what’s been said about Superman, it’s believed that she’ll make her debut as the character in that movie. The character is also set to headline her own movie, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which we know does not have a director right now but is being written by Ann Nogueira. What’s particularly exciting about the production is that it’ll reportedly take inspiration from comics writer Tom King’s take on the hero. 

Like so many others, I’m curious to see what the actress manages to bring to the role and hope that she isn’t bombarded with too much advice. I’m also pleased to see that Melissa Benoist has been so supportive of her fellow DC star. We may be able to assume, based on her comments, that like so many of us, she’ll be seated in a theater to see Milly Alcock’s debut as Kara!

As of this writing, a release date has yet to be announced for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Though fans can expect to see Superman when it soars into theaters on July 11, 2025.

When Superman, previously known as Superman: Legacy arrives next year from director James Gunn, it will also introduce a lot more than just a new version of the titular protagonist. The Superman cast is stacked with heroes and villains who will making their DC Universe debut in the film. The biggest among them is arguably Supergirl, who will be played by Milly Alcock. She will be the third different Supergirl in the last decade, but one of the previous actresses to don the cape says that it’s great to see multiple Supergirl interpretations.

Melissa Benoist played Supergirl for six seasons on television, and the character was also in The Flash movie played by Sasha Calle (one of the highlights of the film). A third iteration of the Kryptonian heroine in quick succession might seem like too much, but Benoist doesn’t think that there’s any way we could have too much Supergirl. She recently told ScreenRant that it is important for young women to see Kara Danvers in multiple ways, saying,

Melissa Benoist has a good point here. The versions of the characters played by her and Sasha Calle were certainly very different takes compared to each other. Benoist’s small screen take on Supergirl is a more traditional iteration, while Sasha Calle’s is a Supergirl raised in a brutal environment, and she is a much darker character because of it. Perhaps, if one version doesn’t work for some viewers, the other does.

As popular as the superhero genre still is right now, it’s incredibly male-dominated and there aren’t nearly as many female characters for young women to look up to and be inspired by. If Supergirl has to represent more, by being represented in different ways, so be it.

While we have yet to see Milly Alcock’s Supergirl, we can bet it will be different from both previous live-action interpretations. Alcock will follow her debut in the new Superman movie by leading her own film. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow's release date is unknown, but we know the film has a script, making it further along than most other projects in the DCU Chapter 1.  The film is inspired by a comic that sees the character not grow up on Earth at all, leading to a very different outlook.

Superman the first upcoming DC movie in James Gunn’s new universe is now being filmed. Fans are certainly excited to see what this new Superman is like, and the same goes for Supergirl.

So far in 2023, superhero fans have seen two “live-action” iterations of DC’s Kryptonian savior Supergirl, with Ezra Miller’s The Flash introducing audiences to Sasha Calle’s Kara Zor-El, while also featuring a digital iteration of Helen Slater’s character from the 1984 film. But considering the film completely ignored the Arrowverse’s Barry Allen and other characters, that meant fans didn’t get to see Melissa Benoist back in costume for possibly the final time. But the actress herself sounds as if she’s willing and able to return to the role in the future, which has me very hopeful Kara Danvers will make an appearance on Superman & Lois before that series is all wrapped up. 

As the WGA writers strike and SAG-AFTRA actors strike continue to shake up the entertainment industry, seemingly more celebs than ever are finding alternate ways to bring in funding, and Melissa Benoist is one of many who started up a Cameo page to send personal messages to paying fans. And bless her fan-pleasing heart, she immediately sparked speculation about a potential return as Supergirl, saying:

To play devil’s advocate right out of the gate, Benoist is a professional and is known to be a very kind-hearted person, so it only makes sense that her initial Cameo posts would fall on the side of being more open and positive about possibly bringing her pants-donning Supergirl hero back for another round in some capacity. With upcoming projects such as Netflix’s The Girls on the Bus and the animated series Masters of the Universe: Revolution (for which she replaced Sarah Michelle Gellar), she’s probably not actively seeking out avenues to play Kara again, and might have trouble completing such a task even if she was 100% dedicated to returning. 

Now with all that out of the way, we can allow for a rise in optimism, which can be applied entirely to Melissa Benoist’s vibes. Because she’s probably as aware as anyone that the Arrowverse is no more, with Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch’s Superman & Lois serving as one of The CW’s few original series to survive the Nexstar buyout. And with the reworked DCU’s co-head James Gunn gearing up for his own Man of Steel tale via 2025’s Superman: Legacy, there’s not exactly a ton of canonical room for Benoist’s Supergirl to exist in. 

I admittedly sound like I’m still dishing out woeful caveats, but my point there is more that the Glee vet could have very logistically said, “There’s not much of a chance of it, but who knows?” without getting anyone’s hopes up too much. But by saying “We’ll see…” in the same breath that she copped to still having a Supergirl costume in her attic, she’s leaving that attic door open for fans to wonder whether the Arrowverse’s Kara could somehow appear within Superman & Lois’ continuity during Season 4. 

Even that seems like a bit of a stretch, considering The CW’s vastly smaller production budgets required Superman & Lois to pare down its cast of series regulars, with some stars being cut altogether. But it’s possible that plans to bring Melissa Benoist back into the superhero fold were already in mind before those cuts were announced. I think it’ll be worth keeping an eye on her hair color in these Cameo videos. 

So while I’m not exactly convinced that Benoist’s Supergirl will return to screens big or small in the near future, I think it’s awesome that she’s keeping fans’ faithful, even the ones who aren’t getting happy birthday wishes. While waiting to see if anything further comes from this, all episodes of Supergirl can be streamed with a Netflix subscription.  

The wait continues for the live-action Masters of the Universe reboot that will now star Kyle Allen as He-Man, but in the meantime, those with a Netflix subscription aren’t lacking for material from the franchise. In addition to the kid-friendly He-Man and the Masters of the Universe being available to watch, there’s the more mature Masters of the Universe: Revelation, the Kevin Smith-run series that serves as a spiritual sequel to the original He-Man series from the ‘80s. This particular He-Man saga will continue soon with Masters of the Universe: Revolution, but an Arrowverse buddy of Smith’s has been brought in to take over Sarah Michelle Gellar’s role for this next chapter: Melissa Benoist.

Sarah Michelle Gellar starred in Masters of the Universe: Revelation as Teela, who’s been a key figure in the He-Man mythology since the beginning and shared leading character status on this show alongside He-Man himself. With the Buffy the Vampire Slayer star not returning for Revolution, Supergirl’s Melissa Benoist has been cast as the new Teela. Benoist and Kevin Smith previously worked together when the latter directed four episodes of Supergirl, and the former also cameoed in Jay and Silent Bob Reboot and Clerks III. The actress said the following about joining Revolution in an official statement released by Mattel, the company that created the Masters of the Universe franchise:

In addition to Masters of the Universe: Revolution giving Melissa Benoist another opportunity to collaborate with Kevin Smith, it’s also another project she now shares with her husband Chris Wood, who previously played Mon-El in Supergirl and is voicing He-Man in this continuity. Benoist is the second new actor to be announced for Revolution, with Star Trek’s William Shatner being the first, although his character hasn’t been identified yet. Revolution will also bring back Mark Hamill as Skeletor.

The end of Masters of the Universe: Revelation saw Skeletor being assimilated into Motherboard’s horde after he chewed out Tri-Klops and his followers for abandoning him, not realizing the true power Motherboard wielded. Per the official synopsis from Mattel, Masters of the Universe: Revolution will spotlight the He-Man and Skeletor rivalry in a new way, as this time around, it’ll be a conflict of technology vs. magic that puts the fate of Eternia at stake. It was also shown in the final seconds of Revelation that Motherboard wielded a Horde insignia, referencing the group of supervillains led by Horde, Skeletor’s old master Whether Hordak will appear in Revolution or not remains to be seen, though that role feels like a good fit for William Shatner.

In addition to playing Teela in Masters of the Universe: Revolution, Melissa Benoist is also starring in and executive producing the upcoming show The Girls on the Bus, which HBO Max subscribers will be able to watch sometime later this year. Revolution doesn’t have a release date/window yet, but for now, you can easily stream Revolution or look through the new movies and TV shows on Netflix.

The series finale of Supergirl has come and gone, completing a journey six years in the making with an emotional two-episode conclusion that capped off the story of Melissa Benoist's Kara and her super-friends. The final hour even included some surprise returns, such as the much-welcomed appearances from Cat Grant, Kara’s former CatCo boss who had sold the company to Andrea. And it was as incredible as one could have hoped for.

Supergirl delivered plenty of big surprises with Cat’s return, too, even if it was mostly via phone call. Once again played with precision by Calista Flockhart, Cat Grant gifted some wise advice to Kara, who was still struggling with what to do as she was balancing being Kara Danvers and Supergirl. And these are just some of the reasons why Cat’s return for Supergirl's series finale was the best!

The Fun Supergirl Callbacks

It wouldn’t be a series finale without plenty of callbacks. And you can’t get more nostalgic than Cat Grant, who called Kara completely out of the blue, and caught her by surprise. The CatCo founder was on a tropical island, though not in any sort of relaxed state, and because she's Cat Grant, she avoided getting straight to the point, focusing first on listing off things that are getting in her way, and going on about her vacation.  And another thing that definitely made fans happy was the reveal that she is still calling Kara “Kira.” Hearing her say Kara’s name wrong just brought me right back to Season 1.

Cat’s Big Offer To Kara

The whole reason for Cat's phone call wasn’t to simply catch Kara up on every little detail in her life, but rather to reveal that she has bought back CatCo from Andrea. Not only that, but Cat basically hired Kara on the spot as the company's new Editor-in-Chief. It’s Kara’s dream job! Although she originally did quit because she couldn’t balance being Supergirl and a CatCo journalist in that capacity, the new job offer could be exactly what she needed as a way to take on both duties with greater ease. Kara was still a little skeptical, since she wasn't fully sure how she could still empower people as Supergirl if she’s working at CatCo. Thankfully, that was figured out via our next point...

Cat Encouraging Kara To Come Out As Supergirl

It was inevitable that Supergirl would likely end with Kara revealing to the world that she, CatCo journalist, has been the Girl of Steel this whole time. The driving force who convinced Kara was surprising in a way, but at the same time, wasn’t, since Supergirl revealed that Cat Grant knew of Kara’s superhero identity a few seasons ago. Cat was always one to push Kara to be her best because she knew what the younger woman was capable of, even if Kara herself wasn't sure what she wanted to do, thus her hesitation in signing the contracts.

During their later chat, Kara received the advice that only Cat Grant could give her, and once she admitted to knowing Kara's Supergirl existence, that advice expanded. While Kara had this empowering speech for citizens to be at their best by fully coming into their own and embracing their true selves, that clearly hasn't been Kara's M.O. during her time in National City. So three cheers for Cat, who encouraged her quasi-protégé to show the world the real Kara. And so she did, taking off her glasses one last time and sitting down for a presumably bombshell of an interview with Cat as both Kara and Supergirl.

Seeing Cat Grant one more time before Supergirl came to an end was such a nice surprise, especially after everything that happened. And to have her be the one to really push Kara towards exciting new adventures is something that fans will be holding on to for a long time. They were plenty happy when she showed up on screen and this tweet says it all:

Supergirl is now the third Arrowverse series to come to an end, and it was as an emotional a finale as this superhero universe is used to. While the series is done, you can still catch Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers/Sentinel in the five-part “Armageddon” event on The Flash starting November 16 on The CW!

It’s almost time for the series finale of Supergirl, which will mark the third Arrowverse entry to come to an end. While the series came into The CW's superhero stable a season late after debuting over on CBS, Supergirl was in crossover-mode from the jump thanks to a shared episode with The Flash's Grant Gustin. And now that the crossovers are coming to an end (potentially), star Melissa Benoist is looking back on her favorite Arrowverse mash-up memories.

Crossovers are some of the biggest events in the Arrowverse each year, with Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl comprising the core squad of characters. Melissa Benoist recently spoke to EW about Supergirl’s end and shared some fun recollections about bringing the comic book characters together. In her words:

It always seems like Melissa Benoist, Grant Gustin and Stephen Amell had the best time filming their shared episodes together. Add in Tyler Hoechlin as the small screen's Man of Steel, and it’s even more costumed fun. The four stars were good about posting videos from set during each crossover's production, and even started up a running gag that Benoist would fall asleep while filming. 

Although Supergirl is ending, this doesn’t mean the crossovers and appearances have to stop. In fact, Chyler Leigh, who portrays Alex Danvers/Sentinel on the series, will appear in the upcoming “Armageddon” five-episode event on The Flash. This could mean that even more Supergirl stars, like Benoist, can still appear in future Arrowverse episodes, depending on how the series ends for their characters of course. 

Melissa Benoist also recently revealed whether she’d put on the cape again following the series finale, saying she’d love to appear on either The Flash or Superman & Lois. Considering she always has a great time filming with Grant Gustin and Tyler Hoechlin it’s not surprising that her favorite crossover memories include the two of them. Here's hoping Kara lives to see another day and another sun so that she can kick up some dust on Superman & Lois in a later season. 

Fingers crossed we get Benoist in one more crossover because she always looks like she’s having a blast. After six seasons as the Girl of Steel, Melissa Benoist is getting ready to hang up her Supergirl suit. The CW superhero series will reach the end in just a couple of weeks, which makes this a bittersweet time for fans. Although it’s unclear exactly how the show’s finale will go, Benoist has now revealed whether she’d return to the Arrowverse as Kara Danvers in the future.

With Supergirl due to take its final flight in November, the series will be the third show in the CW's expansive franchise to come to an end, after Arrow and Black Lightning. Though since it is the Arrowverse, characters from other shows are free to show up in others. This could either be to lend a hand or simply to say, "Hi" to a friend, which is always exciting for fans. So is it possible that leading lady Melissa Benoist will do one of the two after we say goodbye to her series? Well, she recently shared her thoughts on the matter during an interview with EW:

This should be music to fans' ears and would seem to indicate that Kara makes it out of the series finale alive and well. It wouldn’t be surprising if fans were to see her on Superman & Lois, since she is Clark Kent’s cousin, after all. We haven’t heard much about Danvers in the newest addition to DC's small-screen universe, so perhaps its the perfect time to put plans in motion. 

Such a move would be part of a grand tradition, as The Flash's Grant Gustin was the first Arrowverse star to appear on Supergirl when the Girl of Steel was still on CBS. Even now, seeing the two heroes together is always a treat for fans. By now, many would agree that Kara and Barry’s friendship is one of the best parts of the interconnected universe.

Fingers crossed that the upcoming series finale won’t be the last time fans see Melissa Benoist as the beloved hero. But with Chyler Leigh appearing as Alex/Sentinel in the special five-part “Armageddon” event on The Flash, it’s entirely possible fans will see more characters from the show appear down the line. But of course, let's first hope the Girl of Steel gets a worthy send-off.

Spoilers ahead for the midseason premiere of Supergirl**, "Welcome Back, Kara."**

The final season of Supergirl is finally back from hiatus, meaning fans will finally be able to see the aftermath of Kara returning from the Phantom Zone. In the midseason premiere, the Kryptonian tried hard to go back to life as normal, but it wasn’t without PTSD effects due to her time in the Zone. Something that definitely helped Kara cope was her friendship with Lena, and Melissa Benoist has revealed that fans have something to look forward to for those two characters in the final episodes of the superhero series.

While Kara and Lena’s relationship has been a little rocky ever since Lena found out from her dying brother Lex that her best friend is actually Supergirl, the two have slowly started getting back to a somewhat normal state, especially now that Katie McGrath's character has separated herself from the family business. And since Supergirl’s troublesome journey into the Phantom Zone, Lena is not taking her friend for granted. Melissa Benoist told EW that Kara and Lena’s relationship will be able to withstand anything in the final season, which should make fans of “Supercorp” very happy. In her words:

Although Kara and Lena’s reunion was short-lived in this week’s episode, as it mostly focused on Kara’s return to CatCo and father Zor-El, it looks like the women's friendship will be stronger than ever in the back half of Supergirl's final season. Lena was certainly quite upset that Kara never told her that she was Supergirl, and it took a while for them to get back on the same page, but now that Lena is part of Team Supergirl, things are getting back to the way they should be. And hopefully the writers don't pull any last-second tricks to change that.

Kara and Lena aren't the only major characters that fans should be looking forward to as Supergirl closes in on its series finale. Former faves like Mon-El, Winn and James will be coming back for the finale, and some familiar villains will also be returning to National City. The final season of Supergirl has been an emotional ride already, especially with some callbacks to earlier episodes and times in the characters’ lives, so don’t expect the emotions to slow down one bit.

Since 2015, fans have enjoyed the small-screen adventures of Kara Danvers on Supergirl, but all good things must come to an end. The superhero show is currently in the midst of its sixth and final season, with the final stretch of episodes set to kick off this month. Some are probably already grappling with the impending conclusion of the fan-favorite series but, now, that inevitability is sure to feel even more real. The series has officially wrapped production, and its star, Melissa Benoist, marked the occasion with a sweet message.

Melissa Benoist took to Instagram to share her response to Supergirl wrapping production, and it was a statement more than befitting the Girl of Steel. In the post, which featured a photo of her in costume alongside co-stars Chyler Leigh and David Harewood, she expressed her gratitude to the fans:

The first half of Supergirl’s final season was emotional, to say the least. Kara found herself trapped within the Phantom Zone, where she was reunited with her father, Zor-El. Meanwhile, her friends on Earth scrambled to find a way to bring her back. Thankfully, they finally managed to rescue the father and daughter from the extraterrestrial prison during the midseason finale.

Supergirl Season 6 has also taken fans on somewhat of a stroll down memory lane. The show’s creators previously teased that some “familiar faces” would be showing up. One of these classic characters was Cat Grant, though this was a younger version of the career woman, who appeared in two flashback episodes. These ultimately made for some of the most exciting and heartfelt episodes of the season, so far.

Following the midseason finale, there are still plenty of things to look forward to in the latter half of the season. For instance, one has to wonder how Nyxlygsptlnz (or Nyxly) will shake things up in Kara’s world now that he’s also been rescued from the Phantom Zone. There’s also the matter of David Ramsey’s John Diggle, who is set to arrive in National City before season’s end.

Even though Supergirl will be leaving us soon, it’s comforting to know that the show still isn’t missing a beat and finding new ways to keep fans invested. And of course, it’s great to see that Melissa Benoist and her collaborators are taking in the moment.

The final season of The CW’s Supergirl finally premiered recently and it's already in full swing. While there are definitely going to be surprises in store for later in Season 6, it looks as if some of those surprises are already revealing their future presence in National City. Looks like Supergirl fans are going to see a very familiar villain return soon!

Comedy star Thomas Lennon, who joined the Arrowverse by portraying the extremely powerful Fifth Dimension being Mxyzptlk in Season 5 of Supergirl, will be returning to the show for at least one upcoming episode in this final season. Lennon himself posted a video on Instagram rocking Myx’s signature hair and panning up to a Supergirl poster with his comic book character's consonant-heavy name. Check it out!

Mxy has appeared throughout the series since Season 2, when he came to National City to profess his love for Kara, endangering the lives of others with his mystical powers in an attempt to “woo” her. Peter Gadiot portrayed the character early on, with Thomas Lennon taking over the role in Season 5. After Mxy was punished by Fifth Dimension authorities, he was court-ordered to help out those whom he'd wronged in order to use his powers freely again, and his final task was to help Kara by offering her to salvage her friendship with Lena. After failing over and over again, Kara thanked Mxy for the help and decided to just move forward anyway, accomplishing the Imp’s final task.

Recently, Supergirl co-showrunner Jessica Queller mentioned that the creative team has plans for familiar faces to appear in the final season, and it will be a very emotional time. When asked about the particular return of Christopher Wood, who played Mon-El on top of being Melissa Benoist’s baby daddy and husband, co-showrunner Robert Rovner noted that they didn’t have plans to bring him back at the time, but if it felt right at a later point, it would be possible. Myx Vs. Mon-El, anyone?

While last season saw the return of Jeremy Jordan’s Winn Schott for a few episodes, it’s still up in the air as to whether or not he could be returning again for the final season, even if just for a single episode. Another unknown is whether Mehcad Brooks could return as James Olsen, who exited during Season 5. Since both of the aforementioned characters were crucial in Supergirl’s origins, as well as being her best friends, it’s highly possible they could return some way or another.

Supergirl’s final season was announced last fall, making the cast and crew very emotional as they reflected on their years together as a team. The CBS-turned-CW series premiered its sixth and final season last week, so the fun has only just begun when it comes to speculating about who else will show up in National City, all while viewers prepare to say goodbye to Team Supergirl. Last November, Supergirl’s Melissa Benoist posted a 14-minute video revealing that she was a survivor of domestic violence. Benoist claimed that she had been pinned down, punched, slapped, dragged by her hair on concrete, choked, and head-butted among other things while in the abusive relationship. While Benoist never mentioned her alleged abuser by name, many at the time suspected that it was Glee alum Blake Jenner, Benoist’s ex-husband. Recently, Jenner spoke out about the allegations of abuse, apologizing and taking responsibility.

Blake Jenner posted to Instagram for the first time since Melissa Benoist’s allegations of domestic abuse went public last year. In a lengthy post, Jenner alleged that there was abuse on both sides and that it started early on in the relationship. He also doesn’t mention his then-partner by name, but claims that the abusive relationship referenced in his message was brought up last year. So the timelines match up with Benoist’s claims. Jenner apologized for his part in the abuse and took responsibility for it, citing an incident that Benoist referenced in her video. Here’s a part of what Jenner wrote:

Blake Jenner also accuses his ex-partner of mental and emotional abuse. He alleges that he was “discouraged from and threatened” to not get close to any female co-stars and that he was prohibited from seeing his friends for years. Jenner alleges that he was slapped, scratched, and punched. One incident allegedly led to a trip to the hospital to treat a broken nose.

In addition, Blake Jenner says that he also had to make up lies about visible injuries to others. This seems to mirror Melissa Benoist’s story about how she lied to cover up her swollen eye, lacerations, and broken nose after Jenner allegedly threw a phone at her face, which also tore her iris and nearly ruptured her eyeball.

Blake Jenner also claims that he’s spent years in therapy and that the instances of alleged emotional and physical abuse were rooted in “false ideas of manhood,” which he says doesn’t serve as an excuse for his behavior. Jenner apologized to the reader, saying he is sorry for the “loss of respect and trust” and for “injecting negativity” into the world. However, the “most important” apology goes to his ex-partner. In his words:

Melissa Benoist married former Supergirl co-star Chris Wood last year. The pair welcomed a baby boy named Huxley Robert Wood a short while ago. Benoist’s final run as Supergirl is fast approaching, as the sixth season was recently announced as its last. Season 6 will bow at some point in 2021. The Girl of Steel star is now a mom! Supergirl leading lady Melissa Benoist has shared a cute pic of her newborn baby boy, revealing the name of her son with husband and fellow Supergirl actor Chris Wood. The reveal comes just days after news broke that Supergirl is coming to an end, but Benoist evidently had her baby well beforehand. Prepare for some cuteness and take a look:

The photo may not show a lot, but I'd say it's pretty adorable all the same. According to Melissa Benoist on Instagram, her son with Chris Wood is named Huxley Robert Wood, and he's not as new of a newborn as fans might have guessed! Huxley was apparently born a few weeks ago, with neither Benoist nor Wood dropping the big news until now. One chapter of Benoist's life may be ending soon as she wraps her time as the Girl of Steel on Supergirl, but a whole new one is beginning for her as a mom!

Chris Wood posted the same image as his wife on his own Instagram account, but his caption is all his own. Here's how Wood shared the birth of Huxley with his followers:

How cute is that? Congratulations to Melissa Benoist and Chris Wood, both on the birth of their "amazing" son and for managing to keep it a secret for a few weeks. The case might have been different if Supergirl had been in production and more eyes were on Benoist's social media activity, but they flew under the radar. While Kara and Mon-El may not have flown off into the sunset together on Supergirl, their portrayers definitely seem to have gotten a happily-ever-after.

Melissa Benoist was reportedly part of the decision-making process when it came to ending Supergirl, which will wrap after the upcoming sixth and now final season. The cancellation news broke shortly before production was evidently aiming to begin, although without Benoist to start due to her pregnancy. With the ratings drops in recent years combined with the production delays, the decision was made for Supergirl to end.

That doesn't necessarily mean the end of all the Supergirl characters in the Arrowverse, however, thanks to the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover. Assuming Supergirl doesn't end with some kind of tragedy that cuts them all off from the rest of The CW's shared superhero universe, they could always pop up on one of the continuing or new shows. Why not Superman & Lois?

It should be interesting to see if Supergirl finds a way to bring Mon-El back before the end. Melissa Benoist and Chris Wood bested their characters' relationship by getting married in real life, and now they have a baby! Considering the circumstances of Mon-El's departure, I'm not sure that a happily-ever-after could be in store for their characters if Mon-El does return before the end. The actors' real-life story seems happy enough either way.

The Arrowverse is getting even smaller in 2021. After Arrow wrapped as the show that started it all on The CW in early 2020, Supergirl is heading toward its series finale in the upcoming Season 6. Fortunately for any who are reeling from the unexpected news, Melissa Benoist has shared a message about the end. The leading lady said:

Melissa Benoist's message on Instagram follows the news that Supergirl is coming to an end. Supergirl stands as the first female-led series in the Arrowverse, with Batwoman following a few years down the line and Legends of Tomorrow serving as more of an ensemble. The good news is that she promises a "helluva final season," but the bad news is that few may have expected Supergirl to be the next show to go.

Like the rest of the ongoing Arrowverse series, production on Supergirl for the 2020-2021 TV season was delayed due to pandemic precautions, and Deadline reports that Supergirl was aiming to delay production further to accommodate Melissa Benoist's pregnancy. She is currently expecting her first child, with husband and former Supergirl co-star Chris Wood. The goal was reportedly to begin filming without Benoist, who would then join production at a later date.

Supergirl has also not exactly been a ratings juggernaut in the years since it moved to officially join the Arrowverse, although it was never expected that the show would pull in the same kinds of numbers on The CW as it did on CBS before the network switch. The move to Sundays didn't help, likely because The CW previously did not air any new scripted content on Sunday nights, and it was paired in the 2019-2020 season with a freshman series in Batwoman.

The decision to end Supergirl was reportedly made by Melissa Benoist, the producers, the studio, and the network, due to the delays and ratings drops. The upside to the end of the series is that, unlike the situation with Arrow, Supergirl has received a longer-than-expected final season.

The sixth and final season will run for 20 episodes, and while that is shorter than almost every season aside from the fifth that was cut short, it is longer than other broadcast series are expected to run due to late starts. The writers have already begun developing storylines for those final 20 episodes, and production may begin in Vancouver as early as next week.

The end of Supergirl won't mean the end of Kryptonian superheroes on The CW, as Superman and Lois is slated to premiere in 2021 as well. The Man of Steel will replace the Girl of Steel. And who knows? Assuming Supergirl doesn't end with Kara dying or leaving Earth, maybe she could pay her cousin a visit every once in a while. Supergirl is more or less responsible for launching the latest Arrowverse spinoff.

In fact, with Supergirl's connections to so many other Arrowverse shows thanks to the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover event that ended with Oliver Queen condensing the multiverse and joining Supergirl and Black Lightning into the Earth already occupied by Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow, perhaps other Supergirl characters could simply jump to other Arrowverse series when the final credits roll in 2021.

All of this said, I'm actually quite surprised that Supergirl is the first Arrowverse series to go after Arrow. I was expecting The Flash to wrap next, either in Season 7 or in Season 8, following Arrow's example. The Flash does score significantly higher ratings than Supergirl, however, so perhaps it will simply stick around for as long as Grant Gustin is willing to continue playing the Scarlet Speedster.

Stephen Amell has left quite a legacy with his run on Arrow. The series finale airs this coming Tuesday (January 28), and his Arrow-verse colleagues have a lot to say about him. The Flash’s Grant Gustin and more have honored Amell with some parting words ahead of the finale airing.

Things tend to be eventful when it comes to Stephen Amell and Grant Gustin. Having joined the Arrow-verse in 2013, Gustin has spent considerable time with his good friend and frequent co-star. With Arrow’s series finale only days away, it is time to get reflective! Cue Gustin, who had high praise for Amell telling, TV Guide:

It is not the first time that Grant Gustin has spoken kindly of the Arrow star. Gustin has previously called Stephen Amell a “legend” in a moving Instagram post last year. As you can tell, nothing has changed between the pals as Arrow’s series finale readies to air. In an important side note, Amell’s mom has already seen it!

Grant Gustin’s thoughts reflect on his personal relationship with Stephen Amell, as well as his professional respect for Amell’s contribution to what is now the Arrow-verse. Now, Arrow is readying to say goodbye to him and the series. Speaking of Amell’s contribution ahead of the series finale, Supergirl’s Melissa Benoist said:

While it all started with Arrow, it will not end with it when the series finale airs. A Green Arrow & The Canaries spinoff has been set up, and a Superman series is already on its way. As Melissa Benoist points out that there will be an adjustment in store without Arrow and accordingly, Stephen Amell.

The next seasons of Melissa Benoist’s Supergirl and the other Arrow-verse series will be their first full ones without Arrow. Stephen Amell has not ruled out a return in the future, so that is something. As for Arrow’s legacy and its long-term impact on the universe it started, Supergirl’s Chyler Leigh said:

No Arrow would mean no Arrow-verse and, subsequently, no mega-crossovers. That is a lot to take in. Fans of the superhero drama are preparing to say goodbye to it and hello to Felicity again in the series finale. The good news is that Arrow’s final episode will not be the last time fans get to see Diggle.

As for Stephen Amell, the actor will not be leaving television behind after Arrow. He has Starz’s wrestling drama, Heels, which Vikings’ Alexander Ludwig will co-star in as the brother of Amell’s character. Amell also has a second TV project with his cousin, Robbie Amell. Neither show is Arrow, but they will be something.

Arrow will conclude with a two-hour event. The emotional farewell begins on Tuesday, January 28, at 8 p.m. ET with a special and the series finale at 9 p.m. ET on The CW. Halloween is frequently a big night for many people, and, in general, celebrities are no different. Our favorites actors, singers, musicians and models love taking to social media to show off their creative, creepy and cheesy costumes for all to enjoy. But, this year, one celebrity did the exact opposite. It looks like Supergirl's Melissa Benoist has had enough of dressing up for the foreseeable future!

Melissa Benoist posted a picture of her in her Supergirl costume, along with an interesting little note, to her Instagram feed, and it sounds like we may never see her wear a costume that's not related to a role she's filming again:

Well...Bah humbug! I mean, sure, I know that references the wrong holiday, but...still! What is Halloween good for if not getting to scroll through social media profiles so that we can see all the cool and / or goofy ways that our biggest and brightest stars have dressed up for the holiday? Fine, it's also good for unabashedly supplying us with massive amounts of candy. Stop pretending that you don't know what point I'm trying to make, OK?

I suppose it's at least good that Melissa Benoist decided to post a solidly silly picture of her as Supergirl to her Instagram, which is clearly a behind the scenes shot of her in the midst of doing a stunt in front of a green screen. That expression on Benoist's face is priceless and very Halloween appropriate. Also she did have some good advice for those who decided to stray from the warmth of their homes and enjoy the chocolatey, fruity, crunchy, chewy treat-filled madness last night.

Did you all fill your pillowcases to the brim with candy? Good, because I didn't even know that taking a pillowcase along to trick-or-treat was a thing that people did. Do kids not get a smallish jack-o-lantern shaped bucket with which to do their candy collecting anymore? Are plastic grocery store bags, manufactured in bright orange and black just for the spooky holiday, no longer used? Who is doing so much successful candy hunting on Halloween night that they need a whole freakin' pillowcase to carry it all? Clearly, I am either out of the Halloween loop here, or it's all just a Colorado thing.

It does make sense that Melissa Benoist would just be all costumed out right now, seeing as how she does rack up many hours a week in her Supergirl getup, and has been doing it for five seasons now. While her costume has never seemed like it would be particularly uncomfortable, she did reveal that this season's switch over to a unitard look from previous year's top / skirt / boots ensemble was to keep her warm in Vancouver and to, uh, stop the chafing. So, I get why she'd want at least one additional night without unusual garb.

Well, Melissa Benoist may have been a bit of a party pooper when it comes to getting gussied up for Halloween, but anyone can indulge in all the candied goodness of the day, so I hope she at least got to eat some sweet treats yesterday. We can check out Benoist in Supergirl (and with a brand new hairdo) when Season 5 continues on The CW, Sundays at 9 p.m. EST.

When it comes to the debate of DC movies vs. DC television, acclaimed director Kevin Smith is team DC TV. Smith, who has been the de facto Hollywood mouthpiece for opinions and analysis on the superhero world for a while now, thinks that when the two are measured up against each other, DC's television offerings are more successful than the movies.

What then, is the main difference between movies like Suicide Squad and Joker and shows like The Flash and Supergirl? Kevin Smith explained that it comes down to the people crafting the story more than anything else.

That's some major praise from Kevin Smith, though it is worth mentioning he may have a bit of a bias. Smith has directed episodes of The Flash and Supergirl and has yet to get the honor to officially direct a feature film for DC. That said, it's not hard to see Smith's argument. More time to tell a story will often help an audience get invested into a character and there will almost always be more time in television shows than a movie.

While Kevin Smith had some nice things to say about the writers of DC television, he also had a good deal of acclaim for an actress he's worked with quite a bit in the Arrow-verse. Smith told People that he's a huge fan of Melissa Benoist, and the way the Supergirl star deals with the variety of things that comes with her role.

With that kind of acclaim, it's no wonder that Kevin Smith has directed four episodes of Supergirl in the show's run. Again, this might show his slight bias of leaning towards DC Television or DC movies, but it's not like this is a wildly unpopular or controversial take. Smith can't help he's part of the side doing some of the brand's most creative stuff as of late!

Kara Zor-El and Mon-El’s relationship may have ultimately been doomed from the start, but Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist and Chris Wood made their romance work in real life. The couple, who have been together since early 2017, made it official and got married over the weekend in California.

The couple’s wedding was extremely private, and not even a leaked picture of the nuptials managed to make its way onto the internet. That’s a miracle unto itself and it’s clear Melissa Benoist and Chris Wood both value their privacy. According to E!, the wedding took place at an estate in Ojai, California on Sunday, September 1. Among the guests were director Kevin Smith, Vampire Diaries actor Paul Wesley, and Supergirl alum Odette Annable, who played the Season 3 villain Reign.

An anonymous source gave away some of the intimate details of the happy occasion, mentioning that the wedding took place poolside. Candles and strung lights above reportedly added to the ambiance. According to the source, the vows lasted for about 15 minutes, and the food was served family style like a dinner party. It certainly sounds like an intimate occasion that went off well for the happy couple!

The pair met on the set of Supergirl in 2016, after Chris Wood was cast to play Kara’s new love interest, Mon-El, in Season 2. The actors began dating not long after and announced their engagement on Instagram in February, with Benoist and Wood making individual posts to announce the good news and to showcase the beautiful engagement ring adorning Benoist’s finger. Prior to marrying Wood, Benoist had been married to her Glee co-star, Blake Jenner, though the pair filed for divorce in 2016.

While Kara and Mon-El had a fairly tumultuous relationship, it’s admittedly been the most the Girl of Steel has gotten in terms of romance on the show. Supergirl pined after James Olsen, played by Mehcad Brooks, back in Season 1, but any hopes for a potential relationship between the two was squandered very quickly in the Season 2 premiere. Kara was only with Mon-El for a short period of time, though. At the end of Season 2, Mon-El left Earth after lead was released into the air to stop his Daxamite parents from taking over the planet. The lead was toxic to all Daxamites and so he had to leave to save his own life.

Season 3 saw the return of Mon-El, reigniting the hope that he and Kara could once again be together. However, they just weren’t meant to be. Mon-El ended up married to someone else after living in the future for seven years. Yeah, it’s complicated, but at least Melissa Benoist and Chris Wood were able to get their happy ending.

Supergirl Season 5 premieres Sunday, October 6 at 9/8c on the CW.

While Supergirl's Melissa Benoist had previously rocked some costume variations in the past, such as for her battle against Jon Cryer's Lex Luthor, it was revealed that Kara Danvers' Kryptonian heroine is indeed getting a more permanent new look for Season 5. One of the big changes is her hairdo, which now has the added bonus of super-bangs, and another noteworthy alteration is the switch from skirt to long pants for Supergirl's costume.

Season 5 will mark the first time in Supergirl's run that Kara Danvers' standard blue-and-red suit will go from neck to toes in fine fashion, completely ditching the red skirt that has been adorned by some of the comic book character iterations over the years. Star Melissa Benoist addressed the issue during the Supergirl panel at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, for which CinemaBlend was in attendance. Here's how Benoist put it:

One of the factors guiding the move away from the skirt was purely physical, it seems. All of the Arrow-verse shows currently film in Vancouver, Canada for their entire seasons, which includes productions through most of the coldest months. Just because the shows get winter hiatuses doesn't mean the cast isn't working during that time, after all.

As such, handling all of Supergirl's exterior shots during those months had to have been a blow to Melissa Benoist's comfort levels each season. Especially since the episodes filmed at that time air later in the year, when the seasons are depicted to be warmer. Doesn't help anyone out if the star of the show is shivering and potentially miserable due to unmentionable chafing.

On top of the weather issues, Melissa Benoist also saw Supergirl ditching Kara's skirt as an evolution for the hero, which makes a lot of sense for this show and how it has approached gender equality, along with the Arrow-verse's sometimes hindered attempts to not fall back on the sexualization of its female characters. After all, it's the insignia on the chest that defines Supergirl, not what is or isn't covering her legs.

It sounds like Melissa Benoist and others on Supergirl have long wanted to see the character adopt the costume change. Here's what else the actress had to say:

Don't expect to hear Melissa Benoist badmouthing the Supergirl costume anytime soon, since this appears to be exactly what she's looking for. You can check out Benoist's new suit in full in the video below, which was shown to Comic-Con attendees.

That video also introduced the first look at Veronica Mars vet Julie Gonzalo as Andrea Rojas, also known as the Mexican heroine Acrata. In the comics, Acrata's focus is on taking down organized crime, and showing up the local authorities while in the act. In Supergirl, she will be a businesswoman and heiress to a tech empire who uses a hostile approach when moving up the ladder in mass media. She will be taking over CatCo as former series regular Mehcad Brooks exits the show as James Olsen.

The other new character that could be seen is the hardenered reporter William Dey, to be played by Game of Thrones vet Staz Nair. A character that's completely original to the CW drama, William Day is a cynical journalist who isn't moved by Kara's idealistic values, and isn't afraid to let those opinions out into the world so long as he gets his story. Unfortunately for the good guys, Dey has ties to the criminal underworld that could give Team Supergirl a new round of mega-problems in Season 5.

Supergirl has had a wild ride over the years, starting out on CBS, seeming doomed for cancellation, then moving to The CW to join the Arrow-verse and flourish there, albeit on Earth-38. Season 5 is still several months away, but star Melissa Benoist released an image revealing a new look for Supergirl: Kara will have a super suit with pants rather than a skirt. Oh, and a set of banging bangs.

Normally, a haircut for a superhero wouldn't be a big deal. While the Arrow-verse characters change their looks all the time, Kara is a different case. Not only has she kept the same superhero look from the very beginning, but she's a Kryptonian who can't really be cut or injured unless Kryptonite is in play. So, the burning question of many fans' minds since the first look at Season 5 Supergirl released has been how Kara got her bangs.

Fortunately, Melissa Benoist chatted with CinemaBlend and other press outlets at San Diego Comic-Con about all things Supergirl, and she said this when asked if the show would ever deliver an explanation for the bangs:

Supergirl can add cutting her own hair to the list of crazy abilities she possesses, and not just because she's a rare person with with laser vision. How many of us could cut our own hair even with proper shears and hair-styling tools, and not have our bangs end up crooked and awful?

Kara looks awfully sleek and fashionable for somebody who gave herself bangs with laser vision and a mirror. If this whole superhero and/or reporter thing doesn't work out for Kara, she could have a future as a hair stylist! Maybe Clark Kent gave her some pointers before he took off for Argo. Not to demean Kara's hair-cutting skills, but Clark shaving means lasering his face a lot closer. (Cue Henry Cavill Justice League mustache joke.) Well, he has been using his superpowers publicly for longer!

He won't be able to be impressed by Kara's bangs until he returns from Argo, perhaps with Lois and a baby in tow. His absence did allow Supergirl to emerge as Lex Luthor's new nemesis in Season 4, as the conflict undoubtedly would have been between Lex and Superman if Superman had been available.

Clark will have to return to Earth in the 2019-2020 TV season, unless more than one alternate version of him turns up in the "Crisis On Infinite Earths" crossover. Tyler Hoechlin will be back as Superman for "Crisis," which will mark the second consecutive crossover to feature him. He also won't be the only Superman in the crossover.

Season 5 will be packed with more changes than just Kara's hair and swapping her super-skirt for super-pants. Mehcad Brooks is departing the series partway through Season 5, marking the first time Supergirl doesn't have James Olsen on board as a regular. His sister could still be around, and a long-lost character will return. His reappearance could soften the blow of James' departure, although it will be a shame if the two don't get to reunite beforee Brooks bows out.

Find out when Supergirl returns to The CW for Season 5 in the fall. It will be one of a whopping five shows in the Arrow-verse, although Arrow is ending after a shortened Season 8 and Legends of Tomorrow doesn't premiere until midseason, with the "Crisis" crossover. Be sure to return to The CW for the most superhero action available on the small screen, although Disney+ could be a Marvel rival. Only time will tell.

Believe it or not, Supergirl is heading into its fifth season. The adventures of Kara Danvers have been unique among the heroes of the Arrow-verse thanks to her setting on Earth-38, and she's also had a super-suit that stands out from the rest. Why? Because it didn't involve pants. That and more about her look are changing for Season 5, as Melissa Benoist revealed via social media:

Did somebody tell the Girl of Steel that Batwoman got arguably the coolest super-suit in the Arrow-verse, and she realized she was due for an update? After all, both Oliver and Barry on Arrow and The Flash have gone through multiple costume updates while Kara's been stuck in her skirt for her heroics most of the time. Now, she gets pants! And bangs!

Melissa Benoist didn't include any comments in her Instagram post of the new Supergirl suit, but I think the pants emoji followed by no fewer than four exclamation points is proof that she's excited about the changes! She has gotten a taste of fighting as Supergirl in pants a few times over the years, notably in Season 4 thanks to the Red Daughter arc.

All things considered, the new look isn't all that different from her previous look, other than the switch to pants and addition of bangs. I'm kind of curious if both Kara and Supergirl will visibly have bangs in Season 5. We've always had to suspend our disbelief that nobody recognized Kara as Supergirl just because of a different hairstyle and change of glasses, but might some people notice if both Kara and the Girl of Steel show up with bangs at the same time? Probably not, but what's summer hiatus for if not speculating?

As for how much of a difference the switch from pants to skirt will make for filming Supergirl, Melissa Benoist weighed in to EW about what the change means for her:

Kara may operate out of Earth-38, but Supergirl films in Vancouver, and outdoor shoots in Vancouver warrant more than a pair of tights and short skirt! There's also no denying that pants are more practical for fighting than a skirt, and the other Arrow-verse heroes have had more or less practical outfits, if we forget about Arrow's Sara Canary corset, Laurel's buckle-tastic Black Canary suit, and that weird season when Oliver Queen went sleeveless. Besides, everybody else on Supergirl gets to wear pants!

Back in the early days of Supergirl, Melissa Benoist explained what she loved about the Supergirl suit, and it seems those elements that really made her feel like the Girl of Steel will still be present. If nothing else, maybe Supergirl will fit in with the other Arrow-verse heroes a bit more in the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover. All signs point toward the crossover as an epic battle, and so maybe something that warrants pants from the participants.

Supergirl is still months away from returning for Season 4, but San Diego Comic-Con kicks off this week, and CinemaBlend will be on hand to bring the latest and the greatest in all things superhero. Be sure to stay tuned!

The CW's Arrow-verse features more female badasses than any other superhero franchise sector, and more are on the way. The "Elseworlds" crossover has the privilege of introducing TV's first live-action Batwoman. Everyone appeared to love having Ruby Rose's vigilante around, and Supergirl star Melissa Benoist was particularly fond of Kara spending time with the Gotham City heroine. In Benoist's words:

Their scenes are really nice because of their similarities. Kate Kane is Bruce Wayne's cousin and all these things, so they really relate on a lot of levels that I don't think Kara's found yet in another female superhero. There's a really deep understanding from the get-go between the two of them.

Over on Supergirl, Kara is the only character whose cousin happens to be the strongest man in the world. (That distinction actually holds across most shows beyond Supergirl, too.) During a recent visit to the Supergirl set in Vancouver, Melissa Benoist explained to CinemaBlend and other press that having a heroic family member is at least one element that ostensibly adds connective tissue to Kara and Kate's burgeoning friendship.

On a broad scale, Kara doesn't have that much in common with her National City friends and family. The whole "keeping something a secret from everyone else" element is certainly shared by many characters, certainly. But few protagonists' secrets are quite as heavy as Kara's, so it will presumably be comforting for her to have another female hero around whose family tree is extremely noteworthy and kept swept under the rug.

We've still no idea how that connection may or may not play into what actually happens during the "Elseworlds" crossover. We know that in the first part for The Flash, Barry and Oliver will seek out Kara's help in thwarting John Deegan's identity-swapping schemes, and that the second part will take the heroes to Gotham City for the first time. Will Kara get to share in Batwoman's very first scene? That would be pretty snazzy.

Speaking of comic-friendly connections, this season also showcases the continued relationship between Kara and Lena Luthor, whose brother Lex is finally going to enter the picture this season. (I cannot wait to see Jon Cryer in the role.) Similar to how Batwoman's connection to Batman is what Kara hooks into with Kate, Melissa Benoist said that mirroring Lex Luthor and Clark Kent's connection is part of what she enjoys about Kara's arc with Lena.

I think what's so fun about exploring a Luthor and a 'Super' relationship is the slow burn of it. I love that we're telling in the way that Lex Luthor and Clark Kent were friends before they were enemies. I love that we're telling that story, too. I would expect that it will be a really slow burn: that realization, reveal.

With a Manchester Black storyline that isn't afraid to take on uncomfortable politics, Supergirl has also been building up Kara's relationship with Nicole Maines' future-hero Nia "Dreamer" Nal.(Brainy even teased the latter's distant future relative Nura Nall, in another nod to important family members.) But as we head into the three-part crossover, our minds are centered solely on how Batwoman is going to shake things up, in Kara's life and beyond.

A lot of excitement and hype surrounds Ruby Rose's upcoming debut as Batwoman in the latest CW crossover, "Elseworlds." Still, this new image of Rose's Batwoman and Melissa Benoist's Supergirl is no big deal, right? We're totally not freaking out over here and not getting pumped over this picture Benoist posted of her and Rose in full costume from the "Elseworlds" set, and neither are the thousands of fans sharing the pic all over social media.

Okay, so maybe I cracked a smile just as big as the one Melissa Benoist is rocking in the photo, because how can anyone not? Everybody should be in an elseworld of happiness, as this photo of the two heroes cheesin' it up is yet another fantastic look at the batty costume Ruby Rose will wear in the three-show crossover. Needless to say, the costume looks great, which is part of why Benoist can't hold back smiles whilst standing next to her co-star.

Benoist's photo was met with lots of love on Instagram, with her fans largely approving of the pic. That's obviously a good thing, considering Ruby Rose temporarily left social media months ago, with many believing her reasoning was tied to the bullying and criticism she faced following her casting as Batwoman. Negativity was relatively absent in the comment section of Melissa Benoist's post, which could mean even skeptics are coming around to Batwoman's upcoming portrayal.

This is the second look fans have gotten at the Arrow-verse' Batwoman costume, with the first official release coming earlier this month. The suit looks just as awesome in the latest peek, offering more up-close details. Unfortunately, we can't see any more of Batwoman's sweet cape, as it's either been removed from the costume or is just hidden behind Ruby Rose somewhere.

Melissa Benoist's photo is just the latest picture from the set of the "Elseworlds" crossover. While there clearly hasn't been a ton of Batwoman marketing, Arrow-verse fans have been treated to teases that show Stephen Amell dressed as The Flash, Grant Gustin as the Green Arrow, and other super surprises. Benoist posing with Rose may mean more pictures of Batwoman are coming. At least, that's we're hoping, so we can remain totally chill and not freak out after seeing them.

We'll see in the coming weeks as hopefully more pictures from the "Elseworlds" set surface before its highly anticipated premiere on The CW on Sunday, December 9. The event, which Legends of Tomorrow is bowing out of, will kick off with The Flash on a special night, with Supergirl and Arrow to follow. Supergirl ended its third season on the kind of cliffhanger that can drive fans crazy over a hiatus while they wait to find out what happens next. The final scene revealed a Kara doppelgänger, created after using the Rock of Yuda Kal to take down Reign, walking toward a base in the snow in Siberia. We learned right then and there that Season 4 is going to include Supergirl as well Supergirl 2.0 in an adaptation of the unforgettable "Red Son" story from DC Comics lore. Melissa Benoist spoke at the recent San Diego Comic-Con about how Supergirl will handle "Red Son," saying this:

Kara became the person that she is in the present on Supergirl due to the fact that she was taken in by a friendly family when she landed on Earth, getting a foster mom and dad as well as a beloved sister after losing everything she knew and discovering her baby cousin all grown up. She learned to live without using her powers and carry on in a way that let her fit in with humans. Kara 2.0 won't have the same background that created an empathetic and understanding woman who feels driven to fight for good the way Kara does.

A big question is whether the lack of Kara's upbringing will result in Kara 2.0 the villain or Kara 2.0 the person looking for a home and identity of her own. All we saw of the doppelgänger in the Season 3 finale was her striding out of the snow, wrapped in a sheet and looking confidently around the Russian base she happened upon. Is she a fundamentally good person who wants to fight for good, like Kara? Or will she be molded into a weapon for use by the Russian government?

Supergirl has raised the point before with Superman's general unwillingness to work with the military that a Kryptonian whose interests are aligned with a government has the potential to become very dangerous. If Kara 2.0 is more of a product of nurture by the Russian military than an example of nature with a good heart and optimistic outlook, the entire population of the planet could be in danger.

All things considered, it sounds like a major theme of Supergirl Season 4 will be duality, perhaps even more than Season 3 with Reign/Sam and Supergirl/Kara. Season 4 could force the Girl of Steel to deal with fear vs. hope (as with Agent Liberty), hero vs. CatCo (a la the new trans superhero), the U.S.A. vs. Russia, aliens welcome on Earth vs. aliens decidedly unwelcome on Earth, etc.

The annual crossover event that brings the four shows of The CW's Arrow-verse together is fast-approaching, and it will be something brand new this time around. Called "Crisis On Earth-X," the 2017 crossover will be a four-hour affair spread over two nights of primetime and featuring full episodes of Supergirl, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Arrow. The heroes will be forced to face off against their Nazi doubles, and the whole thing looks intense. Supergirl star Melissa Benoist recently revealed what was tricky about shooting this year's crossover. When asked if she faced difficulty in the crossover, Benoist had this to say:

In the big trailer for "Crisis On Earth-X," we see Supergirl facing off against the evil Overgirl in what appear to be a number of scenes, and Overgirl seems to get the jump on Supergirl at least once. Melissa Benoist had to work double duty for the crossover, bringing Kara to life as usual and introducing a brand new villain who could be the most formidable foe of the entire event. After all, even though all the heroes of the Arrow-verse bring important abilities to the crime-fighting table, Kara is definitely the muscle. She may be the good guys' only real hope of defeating the bad guys of Earth-X.

Making things more difficult for the heroes of Team Supergirl, Team Flash, Team Arrow, and the Legends will likely be the appearances of villains who aren't simply their doubles. We've known for a while that the Earth-X version of Prometheus will appear, and a new official image reveals a couple of more big DC characters who will appear on Earth-X. While the Ray will be on hand to help the heroes out, he may not be enough to turn the tide without some sacrifices.

Melissa Benoist also commented on what it's like to play Overgirl rather than Supergirl. According to CBR, Benoist said this:

On Supergirl, fans have seen Melissa Benoist playing other versions of Kara for brief scenes in occasional episodes, but Overgirl will apparently be a much darker version than Benoist had ever been asked to play before. Given that Overgirl is aligned with the Nazis, it's not a huge surprise that she's much more evil than the actress is used to playing in her regular work on Supergirl. It should be interesting to see how the characters compare, even if it may not be pleasant to see such a lovable character as Kara twisted into somebody dark and terrible.

The four-part crossover will kick off on Monday, November 27 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW, then finish up on November 28. Be sure to tune in to see all the heroes join forces to battle Nazis. Supergirl's world has gotten bigger since the show's move to The CW for Season 2. Kara's teamed up with her famous cousin Clark to battle evil, met and fallen for Mon-El, started a friendship with Lena Luthor, and battled Lena's mom Lillian, among other things. Now that Season 2 has come to an end, let's take a look at what we can expect from the next round of Kryptonian action in Season 3.

Is Supergirl Renewed For Season 3?

Luckily for Supergirl fans everywhere, we don't have to wait to see if we'll get more adventures in the coming TV season. Back in early January, Supergirl was renewed for Season 3 along with six other shows on The CW, including Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. So, not only will we get to see at least one more season of Supergirl, but The CW has made sure that its entire Arrow-verse will remain intact for at least the 2017-2018 television season.

When Will Supergirl Season 3 Start?

For a while, we had no idea when Season 3 would kick off, and we could only guess at the next time we'd get to see Kara and co in action on the small screen. Given that Season 1 of Supergirl kicked off on October 26 and Season 2 of the superhero show began on October 10, the odds were pretty good that we'd seen another October premiere. Now, we finally know for sure. Supergirl Season 3 will debut on Monday, October 9 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.

What's The Story Of Supergirl Season 3?

Season 2 ended with the death of Queen Rhea of Daxam after Kara and the D.E.O. released so much lead into the atmosphere that Earth was inhospitable for any Daxamites, so we can be pretty confident that the Daxamite threat is done for the time being. Lillian Luthor is still around, and everything we've seen of the Luthor ladies (and heard about Lex) indicates that Lillian won't give up on her cause. The end of Season 3 revealed to our heroes that President Olivia Marsdin (played by Lynda Carter) is actually an alien; if she comes back, there will probably be some stories to be told about her deception to the American people. Throw in Mon-El's departure, and the Season 2 status quo will likely be changed in some big ways for Season 3.

Meanwhile, a large focus of Season 2 was on the personal lives of Kara and her friends and family, and we can get into how things might shake out for them in Season 3 on the next few pages.

Kara/Supergirl

Kara got a serious shock when she discovered the Daxamite Mon-El had crashed near National City at the beginning of the season. That shock quickly turned to a reasonable amount of mistrust, which led to a grudging friendship, and then true friendship. Then, Kara and Mon-El started down a romantic path, even though (unbeknownst to Kara) Mon-El was still holding onto some major secrets which could have derailed their brand new relationship at any time. Kara forgave Mon-El for keeping his secrets after the musical crossover with The Flash taught her some lessons about love, and their relationship was going surprisingly well, even when his evil mom showed up to take him home. Sadly for the lovebirds, Kara had to flood the atmosphere with lead to get rid of Queen Rhea and the Daxamite invaders, which meant that Mon-El too had to flee the planet.

Kara has also gotten involved in another dubious friendship, but this one is with Lena Luthor. Lena seems to be legitimately trying to distance herself and her family's company from the wrongdoings that landed her big brother Lex in prison under the yoke of 37 consecutive life sentences. Still, Kara's willingness to give her a chance has repeatedly put her at odds with many of her friends and family, who doubt that any Luthor can really be trusted. Lena was instrumental in figuring out how to get rid of the Daxamites in the final run of Season 2, and her loyalty to Kara still seems to outweigh any lingering sense of loyalty to Lillian.

Since shows like Supergirl know that morally ambiguous characters are usually just too good to let go of, I wouldn't bet on either Mon-El or Lena Luthor being completely written out of Kara's life in Season 3. Even if something unsavory is revealed about either character when Season 3 kicks off, Kara had developed trust with both, and she'll likely still feel hopeful about them being good guys deep down at heart, and want to forgive whatever transgressions might be revealed and give them another chance. This means, of course, that they'll continue to be a part of her life.

Alex

Kara's adoptive sister Alex has gone through one of the biggest personal changes during Season 2 of Supergirl, as the character came out to friends and family (and herself) and began dating tough cop Maggie Sawyer. Seeing as how this is her first lesbian relationship, there's no guarantee that it will last into Season 3, but, right now, things look good for the couple. There were a lot of ups and downs in their relationship as Alex tried to adjust to her new relationship, but the two very clearly loved each other and were willing to work out the kinks in their romance. Alex actually went so far as to propose to Maggie in the Season 2 finale, although the episode didn't reveal whether or not Maggie said yes. Considering what we know about Floriana Lima's role in Season 3, Alex may be in for some heartbreak.

On a professional level, Alex is still going strong at the D.E.O., and her working relationship with Kara is stronger than ever. Winn has been an asset to Alex and J'onn, and we can only hope that things will continue to run smoothly in October, especially if she has to deal with some personal heartbreak. She may also go rogue again if she has the chance to enact revenge on Cadmus for what was done to her father, although she did seem to learn her lesson on that front in Season 2.

James/Guardian

James saw several changes to his personal and professional life in Season 2. After (finally) beginning to fall for Kara, the two decided to keep their relationship in the friend zone early in the season. Needing something to do with all that free time that he wouldn't be using to date Kara, James decided to become a superhero in his own right, and took on the crime-fighting persona Guardian without her knowledge. He ran into some setbacks, but with Winn helping him out, he became an asset to Supergirl by the end of the season and helped the citizens of National City in the face of the Daxamite invasion. While he lacked the powers to do what Kara and even Mon-El could do, he was still helpful on the streets and will likely continue to be so in Season 3.

James also moved up several rungs on the professional ladder in the second season, when Cat Grant left him in charge of CatCo so she could go off and find new challenges for herself. Although Cat did return to claim her place at CatCo at the end of the season, we have no reason to believe that Calista Flockhart is any more willing to move to Canada for Season 3 than she was for Season 2. Even if she does drop by more often than she did in Season 2, CatCo will likely continue to be run by James with some help from Snapper Carr (and, of course, Kara).

Winn

Winn's big stories in Season 2 have revolved around him leaving CatCo and going to work for the D.E.O., and deciding to help James in his efforts as Guardian. Winn's personal life seems to be looking up, as he recently began dating an alien named Lyra who defended him from some bullies while he was trying to enjoy some solo down time in the alien bar. Hopefully, things will continue to go well with Lyra, and Season 3 will see Winn's personal and professional life continue to develop. A version of Winn showed up in the Flash/Supergirl musical crossover and showed off some killer pipes, so, hopefully, he'll be bursting into song again if The CW goes for another musical superhero event.

J'onn/Martian Manhunter

J'onn will likely be running the D.E.O. for a long time to come on Supergirl, especially now that he's been officially sanctioned by the president. While much of his arc in Season 2 had involved him getting to know White Martian M'gann, that storyline seems to have been cleared up by halfway through the season when she returned to Mars. He did, though, send M'gann a message on Valentine's Day, so it seems possible that we could see the two together at some point in the future. She did return to lend a hand in the finale. We'll have to wait a while before we know what else Supergirl might throw at J'onn in Season 3.

What Crossovers Can We Expect?

The big three-part, four-show crossover of last fall was a huge success for The CW, so fans can be pretty sure that another epic crossover will be in the works. The next crossover between Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow promises to be even bigger, as executive producer Andrew Kreisberg has already revealed that the plan is for a full four-night crossover. Last year's crossover featured Kara, but only on The Flash, Arrow, and Legends. This year, it sounds like Supergirl will get an episode as well. The second crossover may go differently than the first, however, as a schedule switcheroo has placed Supergirl on Mondays, The Flash and Legends on Tuesdays, and Arrow on Thursdays.

Also, the Music Meister is still on the loose, so there's a chance of a second musical crossover. Cisco also designed a device that will allow Kara and Co. to hop from Earth-38 to Earth-1 whenever necessary. We may be in for many crossovers in Season 3.

Who Is The Next Supervillain?

The Season 2 finale ended on a cliffhanger that could have pointed to a number of huge DC Comics characters as the Season 3 supervillain. Luckily, we didn't have to wait too long before learning just which one will be menacing the Girl of Steel this fall. The Worldkiller known as Reign will complete her journey to Earth from Krypton. We don't yet know how exactly she'll run afoul of Kara, although the final scene of Season 2 seemed to reveal that Reign had been literally created for the purpose of dominating Earth. Odette Annable of The Astronaut Wives Club and Brothers & Sisters will play Reign, and while we haven't seen how she'll look in the role, we do know that her appearance on the small screen will be quite different from her appearance in the comics.

Who Will Be Back?

In addition to the regulars from Seasons 1 and 2 who will be back, we can count on Lena Luthor in an increased capacity in Season 3. Katie McGrath was bumped up from her recurring role, which means that we'll see plenty of Lena, whether she stays good or turns bad. Floriana Lima will be back as Maggie Sawyer, although in a reduced capacity as the actress wants to pursue some other opportunities in her career. We can't say at this point if Cat Grant or Mon-El will be back, but the odds are pretty good that Supergirl will reintroduce Cat if Calista Flockhart is ever available, and Kara will undoubtedly do anything she possibly can to make Earth livable for Mon-El if he ever returns from the Phantom Zone. We'll have to wait and see.

What New Characters Will Be Introduced?

Reign is really the only big official character announcement that we've gotten so far. That said, some Easter egg hints and a tease from Supergirl star Melissa Benoist points to the possible introduction of the Legion of Super-Heroes, which in DC Comics lore is a superhero group comprised of 31st-century heroes from different planets who work together to protect the galaxy. It's possible that characters like Saturn Girl, Lightning Lad, and/or Cosmic Boy will turn up in some way in Season 3. Whether this is via flashback, in the present on Earth, or wherever Mon-El has ended up remains to be seen.

What Changes Happened Behind The Scenes?

Supergirl will be quite different from a production standpoint moving forward. Co-creator/co-showrunner/executive producer Ali Adler is stepping down from Supergirl to focus on other projects for the The CW. Although she'll still work as a consultant on the series, she'll move on to projects like the Dynasty reboot. Co-showrunner Andrew Kreisberg is staying on, and Supergirl producers Jessica Queller and Robert Rovner are being promoted to executive producer roles. We'll have to wait and see if these changes affect the Supergirl we've come to know and love.

If you're still reeling from Season 2 of Supergirl, you best get over it, as another superhero team might be headed in for Season 3. Melissa Benoist shares some info regarding a popular easter egg spotted a couple of times in both The Flash and Supergirl and hints that we could be seeing the Legion of Super-Heroes very soon:

Just acknowledging to TVLine that there's more to The Legion Ring than a casual wink to DC fans could mean big things for Supergirl in Season 3. For the uninitiated, The Legion Ring is typically held by members of the Legion of Super-Heroes. The Legion Of Super-Heroes are a 31st-century superhero group comprised of super heroes from different planets who fight to protect the galaxy from evil. So, given that Supergirl takes place in the present day, how exactly did this ring end up in the Fortress Of Solitude?

It appears Superman has some explaining to do to Kara in Season 3! More importantly, it opens up the floodgates for a countless group of heroes like Saturn Girl, Lightning Lad, and Cosmic Boy to make appearances in Supergirl. In addition to the laundry list of heroes we could meet, The Legion Of Super-Heroes also represent a team possibly coming to the Supergirl fold that Kara, Superman, and Mon-El have all been a part of at some point in the comics. The present assumption is that Superman has already had an adventure with the Legionnaires, and keeps the ring as a memento of his past journeys.

In the comics, Superman first encountered the team as Superboy when they traveled back in time to meet him. The Legion of Super-Heroes are such big fans of Superman they named a planet after him, which is more love than we've ever shown him. Chances are, if we're seeing The Legion Of Super-Heroes in Season 3, it's because they're in trouble and need the Supergirl squad to come help the 31st century. I'm all about future time travel, and would love to see characters like Kara's one-time love interest Brainiac 5 (who is Brainiac's descendant) appear on screen!

Let's hope whatever the Supergirl writers are planning with the Legion of Super-Heroes that it lives up to the hype of some of their adventures in the comics. Supergirl has never shied away from using elements that usually belong to Superman to the new show's benefit. Parasite, Livewire, Metallo, and Cyborg Superman are usually Superman's baddies, but all of those guys are chump change compared to the Luthors. Season 2 of Supergirl introduced the Luthor family, and though it left out the most famous member of that family, the Luthors have proven to be a prominent force so far. Lena Luthor has shown herself to be the black sheep of her family, and Melissa Benoist recently opened up about the complicated relationship between Kara and Lena.

Though Lena has proven herself to be an ally on more than one occasion, she's still a Luthor, and most of Team Supergirl aren't willing to trust someone with the same upbringing as Lex. Supergirl is the only one willing to give Lena the benefit of the doub,t and Melissa Benoist spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the complications that come with trusting a Luthor.

In an upcoming episode of Supergirl, Lilian Luthor -- Lex and Lena's alien-hating mom -- will break out of prison and all hands point to Lena assisting her. Even though Lena helped but her mother behind bars, it's difficult to shake the negative connotations of the Luthor name. Asides from being massive fans of alliteration, the Luthors are pretty downright maniacal, and most of Lena's storyline has been about escaping from that shadow. Believing in the inherent goodness of others is a core trait of Supergirl, and Kara will have to stick her neck out for Lena to prove her innocence.

Another great sounding episode of Supergirl! The Luthors have been a great addition to the series, and though we might want to see Lex stop by National City sooner rather than later, his mom and sister are carrying their weight. The relationship between Kara and Lena has been a highlight of the season and hopefully, there's more in store for those two in the future.

Say what you want about the budding DC Extended Universe, but you can't deny that they've come a long way in a short time. While the MCU took years to introduce single characters before The Avengers, DC is ditching the set up and throwing multiple characters into each installment. Then there's The CW's four successful TV shows, which stand separate from the films. But will the gap between the two DC universes ever close? Supergirl actress Melissa Benoist seems to think so.

Melissa Benoist plays the title character in Supergirl, and recently spoke to the Denver Post about her various acting projects. Regarding the disconnect between DC TV and Movie properties, Benoist believes they're actually bridging the gap, which still remaining faithful to each individual project. She said,

She's got a point. The DCEU is lightening up, and it will likely resemble some of the lighter TV shows like Supergirl and The Flash.

Much of the criticism around the DCEU thus far is about Zack Snyder's long run time, muted colors, and somber tone. While the Marvel Cinematic Universe usually balances its darkness with moments of comedy and levity, Snyder's went ham on grit during Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. This puts it lightyears away from shows like Supergirl, which have plenty of positivity and and lightness included. But Melissa Benoist does point out that Snyder's vision can correlate to Arrow's dark tone.

It certainly appears that the DCEU is hoping to brighten things up in the future. Just one look at Justice League's trailer will show you that the team up film will be quite different from its predecessors. There was plenty of banter and bright colors, and Ezra Miller's Barry Allen will certainly bring a ton of comedy to the project. As the DCEU learns to lighten up and use drama when its more necessary, we'll see the worlds of TV and film slowly approach each other.

Of course, the DCEU and DCTV will likely never actually interact. There are already too many timelines and worlds to keep track of on the CW's shows, and it would surely cause the film world to crumble from the confusion. Plus, we don't really need to see two version of The Flash and Superman interact with one another.

Taylor Swift is pretty well known for her high profile relationships with famous men, but it looked like she had finally found her perfect match last year when she started dating Clavin Harris. What seemed like one of the most stable relationships in Hollywood hit a bump in 2016. Joshua Jackson and Diane Kruger ended their decade-long relationship this year.

After nearly two years together, young stars The Weeknd and Bella Hadid announced their breakup this fall. As two of the buzziest celebrities right now, it was reportedly too difficult for the singer and model to maintain their relationship in the midst of both of their busy schedules.

Melissa Benoist and Blake Jenner

Although their relationship started out full of Glee, Melissa Benoist and Blake Jenner decided to end their three-year marriage at the tail end of 2016. Jenner had recently popped up in a cameo role on Benoist's hit show Supergirl, but soon after the couple cited irreconcilable differences and filed for a divorce.

The addition of Melissa Benoist and Supergirl to The CW's DC universe has meant the potential for bigger superhero crossovers than ever. Legends of Tomorrow actor and former Superman Returns star Brandon Routh just shared a pic he took with Benoist. It doesn't give much away about what we can expect from this year's big CW DC crossover, but it's positively Super. Check it out!

What could be better than the former Superman and the current Supergirl bonding over a cup of Bulletproof coffee? Superman and Supergirl are two characters who cannot be stopped by any bullet unless it's made of Kryptonite, and they presumably have super-metabolisms to let them drink all the butter-infused java they want. Even if Routh plays a different superhero nowadays, it should be easy for some of us to see him as Superman in the photo with Melissa Benoist, and not just because he's not wearing any glasses to conceal his identity. Superman Returns was never the most well-received superhero flick to hit theaters, but the problem was never that Brandon Routh didn't look the part.

Of course, it would be worth getting excited about the photo even if it didn't have the Super flair. The pic is yet another glimpse at what's to come in the epic CW DC crossover that will pit our heroes up against the alien race known as the Dominators, who are best known in DC Comics for their invasion of Earth because of their worry about the growing population of metahumans. The Flash has spent the last two seasons introducing metahumans from two different Earths, and Legends of Tomorrow even has a couple on the team.

The good guys may need all the help they can get from Kara as a friendly alien, and it looks like she'll be interacting with Ray Palmer at some point. It should be interesting to see if she has some connection to the Dominators or if she just comes over to help. If the latter, she may be able to bond with Oliver Queen over being sucked into trouble due to Earth-1 metahuman shenanigans.

Interestingly, it seems that there will be some breaks in the action as the heroes fight the Dominators. Kara is wearing her daywear, with her identity-concealing spectacles in place. She won't be flying around battling other aliens the whole time. Who knows? Maybe she and Ray will be able to share coffee in character. Brandon Routh isn't wearing his Atom suit.

Hopefully any interactions between Kara and Ray go well enough that Kara introduces him to her cousin at some point. Even Brandon Routh is on board for scenes with Supergirl's new version of Superman, played by Tyler Hoechlin. A former Superman, current Superman, and current Supergirl all in a scene together could be fun and fitting with Supergirl's trend of casting folks from past DC Comic movies.

The DC TV universe is growing even bigger as Supergirl prepares to make the network move from CBS to the CW, and a physical move from LA to Vancouver. We’re all eagerly awaiting to see how Supergirl will interact with The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow, and the potential four-part crossover. However, we can’t forget that Kara has her own problems and mysteries to deal with, like the Kryptonian rocket that landed on Earth at the end of the season finale. We’ve got our own thoughts on who's in the rocket and what this means for the show, but it’d be nice to know what Supergirl star Melissa Benoist knows about it.

Melissa Benoist was at the recent CW Upfront event and she was asked by TVLine what she thought might be in the rocket. Benoist doesn’t give any details, and it looks like even she doesn’t know yet.

Whether this means the writers know and just haven’t shared that information with the cast, or that they haven’t figured it out yet is up for debate. Supergirl has been going through a transitional period, so it’s plausible that the writers haven’t nailed everything in Season Two down quite just yet. Or maybe Melissa Benoist is just being evasive and doesn’t want to ruin the mystery for everyone. Either way, we’re likely to find out more about the mystery rocket as we get closer to the Season Two premiere this fall.

TVLine also kept the questions rolling with Melissa Benoist, and asked if there would be more development on the Kara and James Olsen romance. Benoist apparently didn’t know the answer to that either, but she loves how awkward Kara is with relationships and hopes she’ll get to play around with that more in the future. If you ask her, though, that relationship isn’t the most important one in the show. That honor goes to Kara’s relationship with her sister Alex, played by Chyler Leigh, who Benoist describes as her real life “soul sister.”

Supergirl will be returning in the fall at its new home on The CW. Thankfully, it’s keeping its normal timeslot at Mondays at 8 p.m. so get ready for four nights of DC TV shows all in the same continuity.

Comic TV shows are all the rage, and there’s no hotter place for superhero action than The CW. Thanks to The Flash establishing an infinite number of parallel Earths, Barry Allen was able to jump between worlds to meet Kara Danvers in the big Supergirl crossover episode, and they made for a fun duo of sunny superheroes. The chemistry between Melissa Benoist and Grant Gustin suggests a romance between Supergirl and the Flash isn’t out of the question, and Benoist has some thoughts on whether or not they would be a good match when her show lands on its new network.

Melissa Benoist shared her thoughts on a possible Kara/Barry pairing in a chat with DC All Access, as reported by Newsarama, and it’s hard to argue with her logic. Despite some fans wanting love at first sight, the chemistry between Benoist and Gustin wasn’t exactly the sort that sizzles, and both Barry and Kara have love interests on their own shows. Barry has been mooning over Iris for so long that their romance would need to go somewhere before anything major could happen with Kara, and Kara has had her eye so firmly on James that she didn’t swoon even a little bit at the friendly Scarlet Speedster who popped out of nowhere into National City.

Interestingly – and somewhat amusingly – Kara is the second bespectacled blonde that Barry has befriended, rather than wooed, since The Flash premiered in 2014. Just as he and Felicity Smoak of Arrow were too similar for any sparks to fly, Barry and Kara may not have enough differences for opposites to attract.

Personally, I’d be just fine if Barry and Kara stay pals who share a love of snack foods rather than love interests. There are enough romantic entanglements on the individual shows without the need to create any crossover relationships. Who needs more romantic melodrama when there are ice cream cones to eat and happy races to run?

Still, it’s not inconceivable that they could go from pals to something more. There’s no saying how long Supergirl and The Flash will last on The CW, and anything really can happen. As far as I’m concerned, it’s possible that Kara and Barry could make a cute couple…as long as I don’t have to imagine that they get up to much more than holding hands and/or sharing milkshakes. They’re each so young and peppy that putting them together might feel more like a playdate than a relationship.

Only time will tell if Supergirl and The Flash go the romance route for Kara and Barry. Unfortunately, neither show will be back on the airwaves until fall, so check out our schedule of summer TV premiere dates to see what you can watch in the meantime. 

Back in the fall of 2015, one of the most exciting new shows on primetime was CBS' Supergirl. Ratings were good, buzz was buzzing, and it was hard to imagine that Kara Danvers wouldn’t be getting a second season of adventures. Months later, Season 2 is much less of a sure thing. Ratings dropped in the second half of Season 1, and the high cost of production might mean that CBS won’t consider Supergirl a necessary part of the roster for the 2016 – 2017 TV year.

The ratings may not have been the best on CBS, but there are still plenty of reasons why Supergirl deserves to be renewed for a Season 2. Cross your fingers, think positive thoughts, and take a look at seven big reasons why Supergirl needs a second season.

1. Kara’s An Incredible Female Lead

Supergirl wasn’t exactly the only superhero series on the airwaves in 2015 – 2016, but it did have the distinction of the only superpowered leading lady on primetime. Melissa Benoist portrayed a Kara who was believable both as an alien from a dead world and a young woman trying to figure out her future. She showed great range when Kara was affected by Red Kryptonite and turned into Evil Kara, and she consistently pulled great performances out of the other actors. Now that the odds aren’t looking great for a third season of Agent Carter, we could use another awesome comic book show with a leading lady on the airwaves.

2. The Cast Is Charming

The cast of Supergirl took a while to really gel as an ensemble, but they were basically one big charming family by the end of the season. The friendship between Kara and Winn is stronger than ever now that he’s moved past his unrequited feelings, J’onn J’onzz is a bizarrely wonderful father figure for the Danvers girls, James developed beyond his role as the object of Kara’s affections, and Kara and Alex as sisters are the biggest love story of the entire series so far. Even Cat Grant can be counted on for a few laughs and life lessons in a given episode. It would be a shame if the ensemble that was firing on all cylinders by the end of Season 1 didn’t get a Season 2 together.

3. It’s Not Like Any Of The Other Superhero Shows

Supergirl exists in an alternate dimension and deals more with malevolent aliens than metahumans or magic or even street crime, so it really stands out among the other superhero series on the air. Instead of Arrow and The Flash pretty much taking place in the real world, Supergirl is set in a universe with a female president and a Man of Steel and Beyoncé as a senator. Supergirl can delve further into the impossible than any of the other superhero series by virtue of existing in a very different world, and the possibilities for the future are endless.

4. It Could Work On Another Network

Although Supergirl may not necessarily have the ratings for CBS to want to order a Season 2, CBS isn’t the only network that could be a home for Kara and Co. in a Season 2. The show could easily fit into the DC lineup on The CW. The ratings that might not be big enough for CBS could be huge for The CW, and the special effects managed by The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow are proof enough that superpowers can be handled on a CW budget.

5. There’s Potential For Even Bigger Crossovers

One of the best episodes of Supergirl in Season 1 featured Barry Allen accidentally jumping from his universe to Kara’s. Barry and Kara were such a wonderful duo that the episode really could have consisted of forty minutes of the Flash and Supergirl eating doughnuts. Now that Barry has connected Kara to the Legends of Flarrow – that is, Legends of Tomorrow, The Flash, and Arrow – universe, even bigger crossovers could be possible. Kara and Barry were cute as complements, but bright happy Kara foiled by serious grouchy Oliver could be hilarious, and she would fit right in with the legends of Legends. Crossovers with Arrow would have to be handled carefully considering Oliver’s lack of superpowers, but Supergirl proved that it can craft crossovers that respect multiple big comic characters. If handled correctly, even Arrowgirl could work. Honestly, doesn’t Legends of Flarrowgirl have a nice ring to it?

6. It’s Fun For Any Age Group

Of all the DC comic series on television, Supergirl is the one that can be fun for anybody of any age. Arrow is probably too dark for most youngsters, people die kind of a lot on Legends of Tomorrow, and even The Flash has gotten more gruesome recently. Gotham doesn’t even exist in the same sort of superpowered universe in which tragedies don't always feel quite so real. Supergirl is innocent enough that kids can watch but mature enough that adults won’t be bored out of their minds. The show can be fun for just about anyone or even the whole family, and it would be a shame if that fun came to an end after only one season.

7. It Ended On A Cliffhanger

The Season 1 finale of Supergirl ended on enough of a cliffhanger that it would just be cruel to deprive viewers of what comes next. A Kryptonian pod identical to the one that brought Kara crashed onto Earth, and the contents clearly blew Kara’s mind. Was it a Kryptonian artifact sent into space for preservation? Was it another young survivor whose arrival will mark the creation of Superboy? Was it Krypto the Super-Dog? Will we never know?

There’s no reason to despair just yet. Supergirl hasn’t been officially cancelled, and there has been enough optimism from folks behind the scenes that we shouldn’t give up hope for Season 2. Anyone who is familiar with the process of making a superhero movie or TV show knows that the training can be incredibly rigorous. We’ve seen Tom Holland, Stephen Amell and others show us that training for fight scenes can be tough. While Supergirl’s Melissa Benoist isn’t doing salmon ladders or crazy flips during her training, she recently said the fight scenes haven been extremely difficult for her to accomplish. Here’s why:

While I wasn't expecting the pacifist comment, the rest totally makes sense. If you’ve kept an eye on Benoist and her awkward-but-endearing character during CBS’ Supergirl, the actress doesn’t exactly look like a Ronda Rousey-type--someone who has been used to heavy exercise or fighting throughout her life. While her character, Kara Zor-El, has held her own during the first couple of episodes of the hit series, a lot of her strength comes from CGI work, like holding up planes in the air and allowing bullets to ping off of her chest, rather than a slew of super athletic stunts. Even though she’s unused to the physical labor of action sequences, at least the actress seems to be jumping right in, rather than complaining about the process.

In fact, even when she explained that the stunts can be challenging to The National, she goes on to be incredibly upbeat about the work.

Benoist has been pretty open in the past about how difficult learning to throw a fake punch or doing wire work for the CBS drama has been, and in a lot of ways, the learning curve is a lot harder for a heroine who has to be “super” right off of the bat than some of the other women on superhero shows right now. When Laurel Lance, for instance, decided to pick up her sister’s mantle and become Black Canary, she went through a period where she had to do some major training and learn how to become a hero. In real life, this probably made the learning curve a whole lot easier. Kara Zor-El, however, is an alien from Krypton. She was super even before she decided to take on the villains in National City and that has to show on the small screen each week.

With that in mind, we only expect the action sequences to get better as Supergirl progresses. If you’d like to catch Melissa Benoist in action, you can tune in to CBS on Monday nights at 8 p.m. ET.

This fall, superhero fans will get to see Glee alum Melissa Benoist fight crime as the titular heroine of CBS’s Supergirl. As the third actress to play the Girl of Steel in live action, Benoist has the honor of playing Kara Zor-El in a leading role on the small screen for the first time. Scoring the role was a tremendous accomplishment by itself, but the hard work was only just beginning. In the lead-up to filming the pilot, the actress found herself going through an especially demanding training regimen to portray the Kryptonian.

At the Supergirl roundtable at San Diego Comic-Com, Benoist talked about she physically prepared for the role, and boxing played a key part of that. According to Benoist:

While the boxing was physically hard, People also notes Benoist mentioned that it benefited her mentally by filling her with motivation and drive. Superhero roles are more physically strenuous than other gigs (just ask Arrow’s Stephen Amell and The Flash’s Grant Gustin), so it was important that Benoist was in tip top shape. That said, she is playing a Kryptonian that gains tremendous powers while under Earth’s yellow sun, so Kara would still be able to lift a plane or run faster than a normal human even if she hadn’t been hitting the gym.

Of course, playing a Kryptonian is more than just heavy lifting. It’s also important to practice proper flying technique, which was also a challenging task. Benoist stated:

The actress added that she tries to do as many of her own stunts as possible, but the more dangerous ones require her to swap out with a double. Benoist’s Kara Zor-El, also known as Kara Danvers, will start out on the series keeping her powers hidden and and living a normal life, but when an unexpected disaster forces her to reveal them, she decides to follow in her famous cousin’s footsteps and use her gifts for good as Supergirl.

Supergirl will premiere on CBS Monday, October 26 at 8:30 p.m. EST before moving to its normal 8 p.m. EST timeslot on November 2.

After an extensive and seemingly exhaustive search, CBS’ Supergirl has finally cast its lead actress. Set to play Kara Zor-El is Melissa Benoist, a former Glee actress who also appeared in the 2014 indie flick Whiplash. At 26, Benoist is at the high age end of the actresses who were considered for the role.

Supergirl will follow Kara Zor-El aka Kara Danvers, a young woman born on the planet Krypton who escapes to Earth at age 12 when her planet was dying. She’s adopted by the Danver family, and lives a fairly normal life, at least until a disaster forces her to embrace her powers and use them for good. When the show first began the casting process, CBS mentioned they were looking for actresses in the 22-26 age range to play the 24 year-old titular character. A lot of times shows will cast older actresses and actors to play younger characters, so the casting age should actually be right on the mark, here.

THR first reported the news, noting that Benoist wasn’t the only actress to test for the role. Early reports indicated The Vampire Diaries and The Originals actress Claire Holt might be testing for the gig. Just a few weeks ago, Hollyoaks star Gemma Atkinson also seemed to be connected to the auditions. While neither woman landed the gig, they both have one thing in common: blonde hair.

Considering Supergirl has traditionally rolled with blonde locks, Benoist might have a major makeover going down over the next several months.

It’s not that I’m advocating that every character needs to have the same hair color as its comic counterpart. The CW’s version of Barry Allen is a brunette while his comic book counterpart traditionally has blonde locks, and it’s not like the hair color change has an effect on the CW’s The Flash. But Supergirl’s hair is a little longer and a little more identifiable as blonde. Helen Slater was a blonde in Supergirl. Laura Vandervoort was a blonde in Smallville and so on and so forth. Luckily, that’s nothing a little hair dye won’t fix, although I’m guessing if they keep her a brunette, we’ll have to stop the presses.

Benoist is the first person to be cast in Supergirl and the announcement came with this fun little tweet.

However, we do have an idea about some of the other characters who will be present in CBS’ series. Kara’s sister, Alex Danvers, will also be a major part of Supergirl. Other comic characters, like Hank Henshaw and Jimmy Olsen, will also be present.Since it was first announced, Supergirl has been moving forward to series faster than a speeding bullet, so keep your eyes peeled as we get more information in the coming months.

Thanks to its high school-based storyline, Fox’s Glee has had to work around students graduating in recent seasons, cutting out some characters and changing others to recurring. While this is bad news for the actors and actresses who are forced to graduate from the series, it’s actually good news for some of the younger characters, who get the opportunity to step up and take center stage on the musical series. On Saturday, Glee promoted five actors to series regular status for the show’s upcoming fifth season.

The five actors include Jacob Artist, who plays Jake, Melissa Benoist, who plays Marley, and Becca Tobin, who plays Kitty. According to THR, the two other series regular roles will go to The Glee Project’s Blake Jenner and Alex Newell, who play Ryder and Unique, respectively. These character should help to usher in a new era for Glee, which was recently renewed by Fox for both a fifth and sixth season.

The news has broken just one day after Fox’s dramedy cut five cast members from their regular roles. Dianna Agron, Heather Morris, Mark Salling, Amber Riley, and Harry Shum, Jr. will not be returning in a regular capacity for Season 5. None of this news was much of a surprise. Agron’s character was already apparently demoted, Morris is pregnant in real life, and Salling’s character will be a loss, but since he plays Jake’s half-sibling on the series, Salling’s Puck may have more of a reason to stick around than some of the other characters. Reportedly, just like when kids graduated last year, Glee will try to find reasons to keep the characters involved in the show—just on a less regular basis.

On the one hand, I want to give Glee some kudos for trying to keep the musical dramedy close to a real-life high school experience, rather than keeping the kids in high school limbo forever. Additionally, with an ever-changing cast of characters, it’s probably easier to drum up new drama and new plotlines each week. Regardless, this also means it’s going to become increasingly more difficult for fans to remain loyal to characters that they know will be right out the door, soon.

Even though Glee may cycle through its cast members somewhat, many of them do pop up from time to time after they’ve left New Directions. We’ll miss Brittany and the gang, but at least there are plenty of series regulars to look forward to and plenty of gifs and videos available on the Internet to remember the former lead cast members by.

Two new female students are set to join the cast of Glee for Season 4. With several of the original stars now graduated and moved on to life beyond high school, there had to be some new blood brought in to fill the holes. The original stars will still be a part of the series, but not in the same capacity as pre-graduation.

The two new girls ready to walk the halls of McKinley High will be Homeland’s Melissa Benoist and Becca Tobin, who is a newbie to the television world with only one brief appearance on TV to her credit. Benoist, who has appearances on The Good Wife and Law & Order: SVU to her credit along with Homeland will play Marley, while Tobin’s character is Kitty. Both roles will be recurring ones according to TVLine.

The upcoming season of Glee will go in a different direction from the previous ones, with the show moving back and forth between New York and Ohio, following both the new students and the graduated class as they pursue their dreams. Already set to come back on board as a regular is Chord Overstreet, who was out, then back in a recurring role, and now in for the season. The rest of the cast have also renewed contracts. Still, there’s room for new faces it seems and certainly fresh blood can’t hurt the show,.

Glee returns to Fox on September 13th, and I suspect we’ll get some more casting news before that day, both recurring roles and special guests.
