The 2025 Netflix schedule has already delivered a number of great viewing options that have become incredibly popular for those who love one of the best streaming services. A recent addition that counts among the 2025 movie releases which also made its way to the top of the streamer’s films is the Miranda Cosgrove and Pierson Fodé romantic comedy, The Wrong Paris, and the iCarly star went full Texas to give thanks to fans.

How Did Miranda Cosgrove Celebrate The Wrong Paris Being At #1 With Fans?

Many movie fans understand, by now, that on-screen romance is serious business. Most of us adore at least a couple of the best romantic comedies ever made, and few and far between are the film lovers who aren’t at least intrigued when new ones come around. Netflix has been a hotbed for rom-com new releases for several years now, and while critics don’t tend to love the streamer’s originals, those with a Netflix subscription certainly do.

That might be even more accurate for the service’s rom-coms, as options like the refreshingly cool La Dolce Villa and Miranda Cosgrove’s The Bachelor-esque The Wrong Paris prove. With Paris being released earlier in September and quickly hitting the top spot on the streamer’s Top 10, the iCarly movie lead took to Instagram in fully fashionable Texas mode to thank fans. Take a look!

As you can see, Cosgrove got her Paris thanks party started by showing herself in one of the many down-home looks she sported in the film. I believe this is what she’s wearing when her Dawn introduces Pierson Fodé’s Trey to her sisters and grandmother on their own farm, which (surprise, surprise) happens to be only a stone’s throw away from his ranch in Paris…Texas.

Unfortunately, the shot doesn’t include her character’s cute but adorably basic and realistic-for-a-farm-girl cowboy boots, but I can live with that. The full post shows off numerous behind the scenes shots at filming with the cast and crew, along with photos and videos of everyone celebrating the release (and one lucky barista getting to make coffee for “Icarlyyyy” herself).

Viewers have had some nice things to say about the charming and breezy new rom-com, with there being praise for The Wrong Paris ending (which allows for a more real world-like happily ever after for Dawn and Trey). There are others who do think the movie manages to go off the rails, but note that Cosgrove is an absolute A+ standout as a rom-com leading lady, and say that her performance makes the movie worth watching.

I think we should all err on the side on giving a shot to anything that might make us feel a little lighter, brighter and happier whenever we can, so it’s good to hear that a new romantic comedy is fulfilling that need (in one way or another) for so many people, and that Cosgrove and crew are able to celebrate a hard-earned win right now.

While we wait for the 2025 fall TV schedule to get into full swing, streaming has a lot of fun options of late. In fact, Netflix recently debuted The Wrong Paris, a fun rom-com that also marks the first time Miranda Cosgrove has led a movie in the genre.

I'm not sure The Wrong Paris will go down in the rom-com history books, but I do need to talk about the movie's wild premise, and why I'm still bullish despite it.

What Happens At The End Of The Wrong Paris?

The Wrong Paris follows Miranda Cosgrove’s Dawn as she looks for ways to pay for art school in Paris, France. A reality show advertising that it would be set in Paris seems to be her answer. Dawn feels she can use the show for a free plane ticket, then get herself kicked off the series to make her school schedule. What she doesn’t count on is the show being set in Paris, Texas, and that she might have feelings for the bachelor in question after all.

While hammy, the initial premise of Netflix’s new rom-com is relatively charming, and throughout most of its runtime I was very invested in how Dawn would resolve her art school conundrum and hook up with Try (Pierson Fode). However, how the resolution ultimately occurs is totally bonkers, and it dropped the movie down a whole star for me.

Basically, Dawn gets kicked off the reality show by Trey after he finds out about her duplicitous actions. She then uses the appearance fee from the show to make it to Paris for art school, but she’s struggling (though inexplicably she seems to have money for coffee, cafes and croissants).

Weeks later, when she finds out the cast made it to the “real” Paris, she somehow is able to retrieve all of the appearance money and give it back to the producer (unclear how since weeks have passed and she’d spent money in France, but okey dokey) so that she can have one more shot at telling Trey how she really feels. Nevermind that this random rule is pretty nonsensical and would probably never work on a reality series.

Anyway, the two lovebirds have a candid talk and hatch a plan for Trey to propose and Dawn to reject the proposal so she can take home the cash and pay for art school. Then, they’ll get together down the line, I guess. It’s not technically breaking the show rules, but it is a silly, rule-bound, rather confusing way to get the two together in the end.

So, yes, the movie wraps on a fantastical, silly and rather confusing note. (Though our own Riley Utley liked it.) There’s one big highlight, though: I buy Miranda Cosgrove as the rom-com lead.

I’m Still Really Rooting For Miranda Cosgrove In The Rom-Com Genre (And You Should, Too)

Despite kind of feeling let down by The Wrong Paris, the new movie has cemented one thing for me: Miranda Cosgrove is a good fit for rom-coms, and I hope she gets more regular work.

It seems as if Netflix had been gearing up for this big moment for a while. More than a year ago, Netflix released Mother of the Bride, a fun (though oft hated on) rom-com starring Brooke Shields and Benjamin Bratt, that also had Miranda Cosgrove in a key supporting role. It didn’t stand out as one of the best rom-coms of all time for me, but the one thing I really loved about it was Cosgrove’s inclusion. She, like Netflix’s own Lindsay Lohan or Lacey Chabert, or heck, Chad Michael Murray, has a knack for this sort of content.

(Hilariously, Cosgrove is trying to get into the kissing game on Netflix, while Lohan is trying to step away from being the rom-com queen.)

Cosgrove really wants to be on board with this genre, though, telling THR recently The Wrong Paris marks a new opportunity for her to expand her horizons in the rom-com world. It’s something she really wants.

She also told the outlet she would like to be comfort food for fans in a way that Notting Hill was for her growing up.

I’m not sure The Wrong Paris will ever be even a smidge as well-received as Notting Hill, but for a first outing in the genre, it shows how much potential the actress has. It's a start, and who knows, if she can maintain a following, hopefully one day the perfect project will come along that lights fans up in the same way Julia Roberts' 100-watt smile did.

I’ve always had a bone to pick with The Bachelor. Those quick engagements and rushed confessions always make me a tad nervous, and the number of breakups that happen after the show isn’t exactly encouraging. So, when the rom-com The Wrong Paris premiered on Netflix’s 2025 schedule, I was curious to see how it would end the love story between Trey and Dawn that played out on a Bachelor-like show.

Then, that feeling was heightened when it was revealed that Miranda Cosgrove’s character, Dawn, only went on the show to earn money to pay for school before actually falling in love with Pierson Fodé’s Trey.

With that being said, I think this movie balanced out all of its conflicts in an entertaining and logical way. Dawn was aware that confessing her love for Trey on TV made it look like she was doing it for the money, and while watching, I appreciated that that fact was addressed. I also liked that Trey didn’t accept her confession then and there, and that she actually seemed to really get it. Really, the self-awareness in this situation is key.

Then, it got better because the second Trey found out Dawn forfeited her money to get back on the show, he demanded that she get it back. He knew art school was her dream, and while he may have been heartbroken, he didn’t want to take that away from her, which is genuinely thoughtful. However, he then realized he loved her and had to confess that, saying to her right before the cameras started rolling that she could have him and Paris (France):

Trey then got down on one knee and gave Dawn the option to pick a ring or a gold bar, so she could choose the gold bar, take the money and they could be a couple without cameras around them. And I’m obsessed with that choice.

As someone who has watched their fair share of The Bachelor, I’ve never been the biggest fan of the instant engagement and television wedding. I like it when contestants get engaged on the show, and then hold off a few years before tying the knot in their own time.

I’m also a big fan of learning which couples got together (or back together) off-screen. For example, one of my favorite Bachelor in Paradise couples is Abigail Heringer and Noah Erb. While they broke up during Season 7 and didn’t leave together, they quickly rekindled their relationship off-camera in 2021 and eventually got married in 2024. They’re still a couple, and their love story makes me so happy.

I’d like to think Trey and Dawn’s story went a similar way, seeing as viewers know they got engaged without cameras rolling, thanks to the photos featured in the credits. Thankfully, their reality TV ending was even better than Abigail and Noah’s, too, since they confessed their love and stayed together when the show ended.

To that point, the end of Trey and Dawn’s time on their fictional show was reminiscent of Joey Graziadei and Kelsey Anderson’s end in Bachelor Season 28. They got engaged at the end of the season that aired in early 2024, and they’re still together today (but are not married yet). I hope our fictional lovebirds got to live a life similar to Graziadei and Anderson's.

All this is to say, I really appreciated how The Wrong Paris dove into this wild world of reality TV and dating. It ultimately delivered an ending that felt thoughtful and semi-realistic in the sense that these two didn’t immediately decide to get married while on television. Instead, Dawn went to art school, they got to know each other better and then they took the next steps in their relationship in their own time. Now, that’s what I call a happily ever after.

The last word Carly said in the reboot of iCarly was “Mom?” Which led to her friend Harper exclaiming, “You gotta mom?!?” Then it ended there, like, for good. Yep, after Season 3 closed on that cliffhanger, the iCarly reboot got canceled. However, after two years and a few teases about what could come, Miranda Cosgrove has given an update about the future of her beloved character, explaining that a movie is on the way and it will address that cliffhanger we’ve been hanging onto for years now.

About a year after iCarly got canceled, Cosgrove reaffirmed that she was “pretty sure” a wrap-up movie would happen. However, a year passed, and nothing came out. Now it seems like there’s more momentum behind this exciting project, as the actress told EW:

Yay! While the iCarly reboot might not have been necessary, I certainly enjoyed it. It was a super fun comedy that gave us a new look into the lives of these characters that many of us (myself included) grew up with.

We also witnessed a historic moment play out as Carly and Freddie finally got together. Plus, we got to see a more mature side of these characters and, you know, they got to curse too. Ultimately, iCarly also served as a fun and healthy dose of nostalgia for those of us who grew up watching the original show on Nickelodeon. So, all of that made the cancellation a big bummer.

However, what made it an even harder pill to swallow was the cliffhanger. Over the course of the show’s entire run -- the OG was on from 2007 to 2012 and the reboot was around from 2021 to 2023 -- we never met Carly and Spencer’s mom. So, the fact that she showed up at the very end of that final episode (which you can stream with a Paramount+ subscription) was a super-duper big deal.

Thankfully, if this movie Cosgrove is talking about happens, we’ll get to see what happens after that final moment in the finale. The Carly actress confirmed that too, saying:

Considering the bombshell of Season 3 had to do with her mom being back, I’m thrilled this is confirmed, and I can’t wait to see who plays Carly and Spencer’s mother. Also, I’m curious to see how both siblings react to her return, since she’s been absent from their lives for a very, very long time. It feels like a perfect and potentially full-circle story to end on too, considering the original series showed Spencer essentially raising Carly himself, because both their parents were gone.

While Miranda Cosgrove has teased this movie for a while now, and fans clearly want iCarly to come back, this is the first sign of forward momentum we’ve gotten in a long time. So, here’s hoping it actually happens!

In the meantime, you can stream Cosgrove’s project on the 2025 movie schedule, The Wrong Paris, with a Netflix subscription on September 12, and you can always go back and relive the good ol’ iCarly days on Paramount+.

Even though there are a lot of shows ending and canceled in 2024, there is still one axed show from 2023 that I can’t stop thinking about. I'm talking about the iCarly revival, which ran for three seasons on Paramount+ before the streamer pulled the plug on it. As devastating at that was, it was made worse by the fact that the show ended with an unresolved cliffhanger involving Carly and Spencer’s mother. Now, though, Miranda Cosgrove is teasing a follow-up, and the fans are sharing their thoughts.

Since iCarly's cancellation, its lead actress has been optimistic about the prospect of a wrap-up project of some sort, like a movie. Earlier this year, Miranda Cosgrove shared ideas regarding how the show could return and resolve the cliffhanger. By July, Cosgrove said she was “pretty sure” it was going to happen. And, just this week, she appeared on The Talk and shared a truly exciting update:

As of this writing, the production has not been officially announced by Paramount+ or Nickelodeon, though it's exciting to hear that something is on the way! Not only does the cliffhanger need to be resolved, but fans simply want to keep seeing their favorite characters return and receive a proper send-off -- as was the case with the OG show. Regardless of if, when, and how it happens, a number of franchise devotees are looking forward to the possibility of a follow-up, including X user ethxxxxn:

It should be said that there's still the possibility that nothing could even come from this and that plans could change. However, as a fan, I'm keeping the faith! Considering Miranda Cosgrove confident tone when sharing the news, that seemed to be enough for StruckByStories to get hyped:

If a revival were to happen, that would mean that fans will likely get their long-awaited glimpse of Carly and Spencer’s mother. She was never mentioned on the original show so, naturally, viewers assumed that she died when the two were younger. During the revival, though, Carly admitted that their mom left their father when they were little, which also makes sense as to why she was never brought up.

On top of that plot point, iCarly finally paired up Carly and Freddie, as the longtime friends officially became a couple. I need to see more of that, and I'm not the only one. Check out other reactions to the news below:

While it's unclear if an iCarly production will definitely happen in the future, it's evident that the fans still want more. It might be a while until it’s officially announced, assuming it does get the greenlight. On that note, keep thinking positively, fellow fans! In the meantime, stream the revival and the OG series using a Paramount+ subscription.

Paramount+ may be one of the best streaming services out there, but that doesn’t mean it's flawless, especially when it comes to premature cancellations. Late last year, for example, the streamer surprisingly canceled the iCarly revival. However, there has still been hope that the show will continue in some way, shape, or form following the cliffhanger in the Season 3 finale. Now, Miranda Cosgrove has an update that will surely make fans happy.

The Season 3 finale of iCarly ended with Carly and Spencer’s mom coming back but not revealing who she is, and that left fans wanting a resolution really bad. Cosgrove previously shared her hopes for a wrap-up movie to bring closure for both the cast and longtime fans, and she recently told Variety that she has a good feeling about it, saying:

Not many shows that get canceled without ending on their own terms get the chance to wrap everything up, and the fact that it’s very likely that iCarly will get the chance to do so is pretty great. Even though nothing is confirmed, it does sound like it’s close to happening.

Plus, on top of finding out who the titular character's mom is, there are a lot of stories that need closure, including Carly and Freddie’s long-awaited relationship.

As for what could happen in the movie, the possibilities are endless. To me, the most logical way for the story to be told is that it takes place immediately after the events of the Season 3 finale, at the wedding of Lewbert the doorman and Freddie’s mom Marissa, which Carly and Spencer’s mom showed up to. She was never actually mentioned in the original series, and it was always assumed she died when, in reality, she just up and left.

It would be nice to not only see what she looks like (and who she’s played by) but what really drove her to leave her husband and kids.

If a wrap-up movie eventually happens, it might still be a long way away. Fans of the original iCarly did wait almost 10 years for a new series, and if waiting a little longer for a wrap-up movie means that it will happen, the wait will surely be worth it. Now, what really needs to happen is we need to see this project greenlit. However, since Miranda Cosgrove seems sure it will work out, it seems like it'll happen.

In the meantime, Paramount+ subscribers can watch both iCarly shows and probably get even more anxious for some sort of closure after watching the Season 3 finale of the revival. Hopefully, a movie will happen, but right now, it’s just going to be a waiting game.

Netflix has really started competing in the rom-com genre in recent years, with some of the best rom-coms going on to bring fame to their starrers, including 2018’s Set it Up with Glen Powell, the Lindsay Lohan comeback Falling For Christmas and my personal favorite on the streamer Holidate. But not all of the rom-coms on Netflix are made alike and the latest from Brooke Shields, Benjamin Bratt, and Miranda Cosgrove, Mother of the Bride, has earned vitriol from critics and audiences alike. I just watched it, and I gotta say, I was not anticipating how much hate this movie got. 

In fact, critics have been pretty brutal about the movie. It currently only has a 14% critical score on Rotten Tomatoes and the critics did not hold back in their (mostly) scathing reviews. See Exhibit A: 

• Natalie Winkelman (New York Times): “The best screwball gag this movie can muster is a pickleball shot to the groin.”
• Lindsey Bahr (Associated Press): "I won’t go so far as to say that Mother of the Bride feels like an AI creation but it does feel at least a little stitched together from pieces of other romantic comedies of varying quality."
• Jason Flatt (But Why Tho?): "Mother of the Bride could well be the movie that finally makes me swear off Netflix Original rom-coms for good.”

This is the rare case, too, where audiences seem to be in complete agreement with the critics about a movie. The audience score is a whopping 15%. I also happened upon Reddit and tweets from audience members that were just brutal, with some even claiming the movie was plotted so poorly, they smelled AI. 

• Afrina H Rotten Tomatoes Review: “The worst ending ever! Why would the parents get married when both of their childrens already married??!”
• Jessica C Rotten Tomatoes Review: "Think Hallmark movie, but it’s not even good enough for that."
• Jesse Thee Slade (X): "Mother of the Bride on Netflix is actually so bad and not even the good kind of bad. It’s giving AI script overloaded with social media references and pickleball. It’s complete brain mush and it’s exactly what I needed today."

As I said, it's brutal out there. But I really don't think this level of hate is warranted. Particularly given Mother of the Bride is being heavily watched in the US and is even beating Madame Web globally. 

Listen, before you go off on me thinking I am not a movie critic who is a purveyor of fine taste, I think Mother of the Bride is fine. I find Brooke Shields to not be the most exciting fit for a rom-com, despite the fact she’s a regular on Hallmark and now Netflix. I also don’t enjoy anytime a couple gets engaged at someone else's wedding and Will and Lana absolutely muck that up for their respective children in the film. 

Speaking of their respective children, one common theme I've noted among these poor reviews is that a lot of people feel icky about Lana (Brooke Shields) and Will (Benjamin Bratt) rekindling when their adult children are about to be -- and ultimately get-- married. This is obviously because that effectively makes their children both lovers and future step-siblings, though the timeline is wonky. 

It’s weird, I’ll admit, and maybe not as carefully crafted as it could have been. For example, if I’d been writing this movie, I would have written the flick so that Emma (Miranda Cosgrove)’s parents split up and so that RJ (Sean Teale) lost his parents. That way Bratt could have come in as the fun uncle or someone who was RJ’s guardian. Then, even if he had dated Emma’s mom in college, the ick factor wouldn’t really be there. I'm just saying. 

Instead the movie has Emma dealing with the loss of her father and RJ with the split parents and absentee mom, and there’s a whole future stepsiblings-getting-married component to the final scenes -- which is where the majority of the hate seems to be coming from. If I’m being honest, this messiness didn’t bother me a ton given the two adult children never lived in a household together and their parents rekindled afterward, but I get that piece of it. I just don’t personally feel this movie deserves this level of disgust. 

In fact, I honestly liked that the focus of this movie is on Bratt’s Will and Shields’ Lana reconnecting. One other thing I liked about this movie was how real and unstuffy all of the older leads in the movie felt. They were successful, 50+ adults with ambitious jobs; yet, they’re just mucking around like the rest of us, goofing off playing pickleball and sometimes even getting caught skinny dipping when they shouldn’t. Will and Lana feel like real people with a sense of fun and it was the right call for the movie to focus more on their romantic narrative than the younger couple's.

I know I have my reservations about Shields, but she and Bratt do banter together well onscreen. Plus, Miranda Cosgrove's influencer lifestyle is a sharp and memorable contrast to the world her mother inhabits and brings needed tension to the movie outside of the main romance. Rachael Harris is well-cast as Lana's friend Janice after previously being a part of Netflix's Lucifer cast. And the movie is a perfect 90-minutes in length, so it doesn't overstay its welcome and is a perfectly nice movie to throw on during a lazy afternoon.

Again I’m not arguing Mother of the Bride will change your life. I’m not arguing it’s better than the admittedly similar Ticket to Paradise with Julia Roberts and George Clooney. But I do think that 14% Rotten Tomatoes score is probably not a fair shake.

Miranda Cosgrove is well known to the public for the comedic characters she's played, like Summer Hathaway in the funny family flick School of Rock as well as Megan Parker on Drake & Josh. And, of course, she truly grew up while filming iCarly , on which she played the lead role. Aside from all of that, the former child actress has also discussed her experiences within the industry, including some that are less-than-pleasant. One such situation occurred in 2016, when a stalker killed himself outside of her house and, as Cosgrove recently shared, that still affects her.

There are a number of major celebrities who've dealt with stalking-related situations. Fifty Shades of Grey's Jamie Dornan had a stalker show up at his house, and The White Lotus’ Alexandra Daddario had an armed stalker appear at her abode while she was on the premises. As for Miranda Cosgrove, a man lit himself on fire and shot himself outside her home while she was away. During an interview with Bustle, she shared candid thoughts on the impact that moment has had on how she views her residence:

This isn't the first time Miranda Cosgrove has spoken about her stalker. While on Whitney Cummings' Good For You podcast in 2020, she told the story in a more humorous way. Cosgrove and Cummings laughed about how “dumb” it was for her stalker to light himself on fire in one of the rare nights it rained in Los Angeles. The former child star also joked about the idea of burying things like milk chocolate in her backyard for about three days. That account of the situation aside, these latest comments indicate that the actress is still feeling the affects of what went down.

While the Despicable Me star wasn't home when the stalker arrived, another woman was in the vicinity and was shot by the stalker after being mistaken for the actress. It wasn’t until years later that the Yours, Mine & Ours alum ran into a woman at the Kitten Rescue LA event who admitted to her she was the person who was shot that night. She explained that the reason for being in the star’s neighborhood was to visit a friend she that was seeking comfort from after experiencing a breakup.

One can certainly understand how Miranda Cosgrove would still be processing the scenario in some ways, but she's not just dwelling on the past now. She said that she’s now on a mission to “start a new chapter” and find somewhere “safe.” And, despite the stalking situation, she said in her interview that she was still able to watch one of Netflix’s best shows, Baby Reindeer, which covers series creator Richard Gadd’s experience with the same kind of situation. Cosgrove said watching the dramedy miniseries didn’t trigger any traumatic memories and commended Gadd for the courage to act out his own terrible past memories. One hopes that as Cosgrove moves forward from the event, she'll continue to prioritize her mental health and well being.

It’s been over six months since Paramount+ subscribers were hit with the iCarly cancellation, and it still hurts. The beloved Nickelodeon series was revived in 2021, and starred original cast members Miranda Cosgrove, Nathan Kress, and Jerry Trainor. It also occasionally featured the returns of other franchise OGs. The third season aired last summer and ended on a cliffhanger that nearly included the long-awaited appearance of Carly and Spencer’s mother. Now, Cosgrove has an idea on how to wrap it all up, and I desperately need it to happen.

A show cancelation can be heartbreaking, but it’s even worse when there’s a cliffhanger that'll seemingly never get solved. Carly and Spencer’s mother was never brought up in the original series, and it was always assumed she either died or left the picture. The final episodes of the revival's third season revealed that their mom did, in fact, leave them and their dad without a word. She finally returned in the final moments of the finale, though she wasn't seen on camera.

With that storyline and so many others still needing closure, is there a possibility that iCarly could come back down the line? That’s still unclear but, while speaking with ET, Miranda Cosgrove expressed interest in returning and exactly how she would like to do it:

A movie would certainly be a great way for iCarly to wrap up some loose ends, and it wouldn't be the first TV property to go that route. Other notable series like Firefly, Timeless and Prison Break also signed off with films. Sure, a flick wouldn't be the same as an entire new season with Carly Shay and co., but it could indeed give the writers a chance to conclude the show's stories properly.

With that, fans could also finally see Carly and Spencer’s mom. It was a disappointment when Paramount+ canceled the series, after which the writers reacted with a heartfelt statement, in which they addressed the fans' passion. As of right now, P+ has not given a formal reason as to why the revival was axed. And, as far as the public knows, there have been no true discussions about wrapping up the series in any way.

Not only did the show leave fans hanging with Carly and Spencer’s mom, but Carly and Freddie had finally gotten together. Fans had been waiting over a decade for the two to become a couple, and it was gratifying to finally see that dynamic play out on screen. A movie (or another season) would give the producers the chance to further develop their relationship, whether it’s moving in together or maybe even getting engaged and walking down the aisle.

The chances of more iCarly seem slim at this point, but I don't think it's a total impossibility. Paramount+ has brought back other Nick properties for revival movies after all, like Zoey 101 and The Thundermans. Let's hope that such a development happens again so that Miranda Cosgrove and co. can give us an ending worthy of their beloved TV franchise.

The phrase “former child star” is most often associated with someone who was famous when they were much younger, but is not quite as well-known — or, perhaps, does not even act anymore — as a grown-up. Yet, for every starlet who has risen and fallen, there are just as many who have beaten the odds and have gone onto bigger and better things as adults, like these beloved celebrities.

Macaulay Culkin

The first person you might think of when you think of “former child stars” could be Macaulay Culkin, who was on top of the world when he led the original Home Alone cast as Kevin McCallister. While his notoriety would slow in subsequent years, it is always a treat to see him show up in ensembles like the American Horror Story Season 10 cast or Kid Cudi’s Entergalactic cast.

Lukas Haas

Lukas Haas was one of the most acclaimed young actors of his time with leading roles in 1985’s Witness, opposite Harrison Ford, and the underrated ghost story, Lady in White, from 1988. He has since made a living taking smaller roles in otherwise big movies like Inception and Babylon, plus he's shown up on TV shows like The Righteous Gemstones and War of the Worlds.

Jurnee Smollett

With an Emmy nomination for HBO’s Lovecraft Country, a scene-stealing role in DC’s Birds of Prey, and a stellar turn in Amazon Prime’s The Burial, Jurnee Smollett has established herself as one of the strongest talents of her time. However, that was already clear with her recurring role in Full House and her astonishing performance in 1997’s acclaimed Black horror movie, Eve’s Bayou, when she was still a child.

Jason Bateman

From his debut role on Little House on the Prairie to his years on the sitcom Valerie (which would become The Hogan Family), Jason Bateman showed great versatility as a performer in his younger years. He has upheld that reputation ever since, as seen by his Emmy-nominated work leading the Arrested Development cast and, later, the Ozark cast. His ability to shift from starring in funny movies like Horrible Bosses to dramas like Air is remarkable.

Dakota Fanning

Racking up more than 20 credits before she turned 10, Dakota Fanning was everywhere in the early 2000s — catching the attention of filmmakers like Steven Spielberg for War of the Worlds and holding her own against actors like Robert DeNiro in Hide and Seek. Save her age, nothing much has changed for the actor, who appeared in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood cast and reunited with her Man on Fire co-star, Denzel Washington, in 2023’s The Equalizer 3.

Ryan Gosling

A 13-year-old Ryan Gosling entered show business as a Mouseketeer, paving the way for him to star in back-to-back scary anthology TV shows for kids (Are You Afraid of the Dark? and Goosebumps), lead Young Hercules, and more. Leading 2004’s The Notebook cast paved the way for him to be an action hero in Drive and Blade Runner 2049. On top of all that, he also earned Oscar nominations for Half Nelson and La La Land, and made us laugh as part of the The Nice Guys ensemble and the Barbie cast as Ken.

Brie Larson

After some faux ads on Jay Leno’s Tonight Show marked her debut at 9, Brie Larson went on to star in a family sitcom with the late Bob Saget (Raising Dad), was in a YA novel adaptation (Hoot), and she even had a singing career in her teens. Now, she is a comic book movie star (for appearing in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and playing the MCU’s Captain Marvel), and she has an Oscar for Room from 2015.

Kenan Thompson

On All That — Nickelodeon’s answer to Saturday Night Live — one of the young cast’s most prominent breakouts was Kenan Thompson, who went on to co-lead his own kid-friendly sitcom with Kel Mitchell, aptly named Kenan & Kel. The Emmy winner went on to break the record for longest-running SNL actor and lead his own adult sitcom, Kenan.

David Krumholtz

After making his debut playing a child actor in 1993’s Life with Mikey, David Krumholtz became a prominent child actor with roles in Addams Family Values as Wednesday’s love interest and Tim Allen’s head elf, Bernard, in The Santa Clause. The crime procedural, Numb3rs, earned him greater recognition, leading to a career that includes lending his voice to Sausage Party, appearing in the Oppenheimer cast, and reprising Bernard on Disney+’s series, The Santa Clauses.

Neil Patrick Harris

Playing a kid genius on Doogie Howser M.D. made Neil Patrick Harris a household name, which he acknowledged when he later played himself in Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle. Of course, the five-time Emmy winner is better known today as Barney Stinson from the How I Met Your Mother cast, Count Olaf on Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, and so much more.

Josh Brolin

At 17, first-time actor Josh Brolin immediately made his mark on pop culture as part of the Goonies cast in the role of Brand Walsh. However, he really got heads turning at 39 when he starred in one of the best movies of the 2000s, No Country for Old Men. The son of Hollywood veteran James Brolin has an Oscar nomination for Milk and multiple comic book movie roles under his belt (Jonah Hex, MCU’s Thanos, and Cable in Deadpool 2), among other great achievements. 

Haley Joel Osment

After debuting in Forrest Gump and starring on The Jeff Foxworthy Show, Haley Joel Osment’s Oscar-nominated performance in, arguably, the best M. Night Shyamalan movie, 1999’s The Sixth Sense, made him a sensation. He went on to earn leading parts in Pay It Forward and Steven Spielberg’s A.I.: Artificial Intelligence. More recently, Osment has been known to pop up in the most unexpected places — Kevin Smith’s Tusk, a guest role on The Boys, Netflix's animated fantasy series Dogs in Space, to name a few — but always with grand results.

Ethan Hawke

After debuting in Joe Dante’s Explorers at 15, Ethan Hawke only grew in prominence in his later teens and throughout his 20s by starring in Dead Poets Society, Reality Bites, etc. He went on to earn Academy Award nominations for Training Day and Boyhood. He completed Richard Linklater’s Before Trilogy with 2013’s Before Midnight, became a Scream King with great horror movies like Sinister, and he's done a fair amount of work behind the scenes, too.

Abigail Breslin

Just four years after M. Night Shyamalan gave 6-year-old Abigail Breslin her big break with Signs, her role in the Little Miss Sunshine cast made her one of the youngest Oscar nominees of all time. As she matured, so would her roles — such as a teenage murder suspect in Stillwater or a vigilante in the Accused cast for Fox.

Mayim Bialik

Mayim Bialik stole the show from the Big Bang Theory cast as Amy Farrah Fowler and later led Fox’s Call Me Kat in the title role. However, the Jeopardy! host’s status as sitcom royalty dates back to the ‘90s as the star of Blossom.

Brenda Song

Perhaps Brenda Song’s most iconic character is London Tipton from the Suite Life franchise — which is just one of the roles that made her a prominent Disney Channel star. Beyond the children’s cable giant, she was in one of the best David Fincher movies, The Social Network, led Netflix’s Secret Obsession, and had a main role in Hulu’s Dollface.

Leonardo DiCaprio

Despite being removed for disruptive behavior when making his show business debut on Romper Room at 3 years old (as he revealed to David Letterman), Leonardo DiCaprio went on to lead a winning child actor’s career that included a season on Growing Pains and an Academy Award nomination for What’s Eating Gilbert Grape? Things would only get better as he grew up, earning even more Oscar nominations — and one win for The Revenant — and becoming as important to Martin Scorsese’s filmography as his This Boy’s Life co-star, Robert DeNiro, whom he reunited with in 2023’s Killers of the Flower Moon.

Tyler James Williams

Tyler James Williams started out appearing on Sesame Street before landing the title role of Chris Rock’s autobiographical sitcom, Everybody Hates Chris. Following an acclaimed indie comedy (Dear White People) and a recurring role on the Walking Dead cast, the actor became sitcom royalty again when he joined the Abbott Elementary cast, which earned him multiple Emmy nods.

Kurt Russell

Former Disney star Kurt Russell made his feature debut in 1963’s It Happened at the World’s Fair alongside Elvis Presley, and he went on to play him in a made-for-TV biopic and Forrest Gump. Several great movie roles later, Russell is one of the top action heroes of all time, and now he's working with his family by joining the Monarch: Legacy of Monsters cast alongside his son, Wyatt, who is playing his younger self.

Jodie Foster

After getting her start on TV at a very young age (the first gig being The Doris Day Show), Jodie Foster got a head start on the more mature roles she would become known for when she appeared in Taxi Driver at 14. The two-time Academy Award winner (for The Accused and Best Picture Oscar winner The Silence of the Lambs) would continue to work from both in front of and behind the camera.

Johnny Galecki

In 1989, 14-year-old Johnny Galecki appeared as Rusty in the National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation cast, and he also starred in another holiday classic, Prancer. I would not be surprised if many did not realize that Leonard from The Big Bang Theory was the same actor, but they were likely more hip to that fact by the time he reprised his role from Roseanne, David Healy, on The Conners.

Miranda Cosgrove

Even with Jack Black in the lead, Miranda Cosgrove stole the show in 2003’s School of Rock, and she went on to do the same thing as the evil Megan in the Nickelodeon sitcom, Drake & Josh. One of her most notable credits as an adult was a Paramount+ exclusive revival of iCarly — another Nickelodeon show she led as a teen.

Keke Palmer

Her bombastic debut role in Barbershop 2: Back in Business made it clear that then-9-year-old Keke Palmer was a powerhouse talent. The Emmy winner would continue to demonstrate her skill as the lead of Akeelah and the Bee and much later in life as part of Jordan Peele’s Nope cast.

Mark-Paul Gosselaar

While Zach Morris from the Saved by the Bell cast is still the role he is best known for — he even reprised it in a Peacock exclusive revival — Mark-Paul Gosselaar managed to prove his versatility in later years. He had a successful stint as a detective on NYPD Blue, played a rebellious lawyer on Franklin & Bash, and an abusive captor in NBC’s Found.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Before starring on the great ‘90s TV show, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Joseph Gordon-Levitt made multiple TV appearances and starred in classic movies like Angels in the Outfield and A River Runs Through It. These days, he is best known for his many collaborations with Rian Johnson, his Golden Globe-nominated turns in (500) Days of Summer and 50/50, and running the creative collaboration platform HitRecord.

Sean Astin

Before playing the title role of Rudy and starring in the Lord of the Rings movies as Sam, Sean Astin was best known as Mikey in The Goonies. In addition to his accomplished voice acting career, one of his most celebrated roles as of late is Bob Newby from the Season 2 cast of Stranger Things — a show very much inspired by The Goonies.

Kirsten Dunst

After making her film debut in star-studded The Bonfire of the Vanities, Kirsten Dunst really made an impression at 12 playing a 70-year-old bloodsucker in Interview with the Vampire. Starring in the Spider-Man movies as Mary Jane Watson swung her right into the A-list and, in 2022, she received an Academy Award nomination for The Power of the Dog.

Kieran Culkin

With his roles in the Home Alone movies and in Steve Martin movies (both parts of Father of the Bride), it seemed like Kieran Culkin was on his way to the same level of stardom as his brother, Macaulay. However, it was not until later in life when he was thrice Emmy-nominated for starring in HBO’s Succession cast that he became the star he was destined to be.

Selena Gomez

Before leading Disney Channel's Wizards of Waverly Place made Selena Gomez a star, she got her start on Barney in the early 2000s. She now has two Primetime Emmy Award nominations for her performance on Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building cast and a Daytime Emmy nod for her Max original cooking show, Selena + Chef.

Elle Fanning

Before breaking out in the Super 8 cast, Elle Fanning’s claim to fame for a while was starring as a younger version of sister, Dakota, in I Am Sam and Taken. Now, she has an Emmy nomination for leading Hulu’s The Great, which is just one of the many Victorian-era roles she has played in more recent years.

Christina Ricci

For years, Christina Ricci’s performance in Barry Sonnenfeld’s Addams Family movies was the definitive iteration of young Wednesday Addams. The Yellowjackets cast member got to revisit those days with her supporting role on Netflix’s Wednesday cast, opposite Jenna Ortega in the lead this time.

Danica McKellar

Some of the most memorably endearing moments from the original Wonder Years involved Danica McKellar’s Winnie Cooper and her puppy love relationship with Fred Savage as Kevin Arnold. Romance is a big part of the actor’s career these days, primarily appearing in popular Hallmark movies like Christmas She Wrote and Swing into Romance.

Knowing the kind of career they would one day lead, I am sure these celebrities wear their “former child star” identities as a badge of honor.

It’s sadly time for Carly and Freddie to turn off the camera, and say goodbye to iCarly. The reboot of the Nickelodeon fan-favorite airred Season 3 on the 2023 TV schedule, and it came to a close this summer. Not long after the finale dropped, Paramount+ announced its cancellation. Now, because the WGA writers' strike is over, the writers from the show shared a heartfelt statement about iCarly, reflecting on how much they loved it and how sad they are that they have to leave the series behind. 

Following the news that iCarly wouldn’t return for a fourth season, despite the bombshell cliffhanger about Carly’s mom in the finale, the writers took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their thoughts. Through the @iCarlyWriters account, they posted this heartfelt statement:

Fans really did lose their minds after various gigantic moments on the show, especially those who have been with it since the Nickelodeon days. When Freddie and Carly finally got together, there was a big celebration on social media from folks who had been waiting over a decade for the characters to get together. On top of that, the Season 3 finale ended with Carly and Freddie almost getting married. However they didn’t exchange their vows because her mother, who we’ve never actually met or seen, showed up. Talk about a wild way to end the season, and a frustrating note to leave the series on.

This is obviously a disappointing cancellation for the writers, the team behind the show, and fans. Many of us have watched Miranda Cosgrove grow up on iCarly, and seeing her alongside other original cast members in this reboot was so fun and nostalgic. It took a lot of talks and work to get the Carly actress to say yes to the reboot, and it’s a bummer that the grown up version of this classic was canceled after three seasons.    

Along with the writers and fans reacting to the sad news – the actors haven’t said anything about it because of the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike – iCarly’s showrunner, Ali Schouten-Seeks, posted a response to the tweet from the writers. It was very sweet, check it out:

While it’s such sad news, it’s nice to see that the creative team has such positive feelings about the show. Maybe we’ll get another reboot in ten years, like Schouten-Seeks pitched, but for now, at least we got three fun seasons of iCarly. 

Even though there won’t be a fourth installment of the comedy series, you can stream all three seasons of iCarly’s reboot, plus the original Nickeloden series, with a Paramount+ subscription. 

Spoilers for Season 2 of iCarly are ahead! 

It only took 16 years, but Paramount+’s iCarly finally did something that OG fans had been waiting for: Carly and Freddie are officially a couple! Fans of the original series, especially those that grew up with the show, know that their relationship was a hot topic throughout the series' run. It was like the debates surrounding Twilight and The Hunger Games, as people fought over Creddie versus Seddie. Now Miranda Cosgrove is opening up about what Jennette McCurdy’s Sam would think of the new pairing on iCarly.

While Freddie briefly dated both Carly and Sam on the original show, Freddie and Carly’s relationship in the revival is what dreams are made of. While Jennette McCurdy has no interest in returning to her Nickelodeon past, meaning that we won’t see how she would react to Creddie’s relationship, Miranda Cosgrove did tell People how she thinks her on-screen BFF would respond to it, saying:

Sam is unpredictable, but it does seem like she would be happy for Carly and Freddie, maybe she'd even make fun of them from time to time. However, it would have been intriguing to see how she would really react if it was part of the bigger storyline, as it would also have the potential to bring back the age-old Creddie versus Seddie debate. Since Sam is living her life in a biker gang, she is doing pretty well for herself, and I'd like to believe she'd be happy for her friends.

Perhaps one of the biggest plot twists on iCarly was the fact that Sam and Freddie kissed and later got feelings for each other. It didn’t last long since they knew they worked better as friends, but even when Nathan Kress guest starred on Sam & Cat, it still seemed like there was something lingering there. I'd imagine that things would get complicated between the three friends if Sam showed up. However, that's not going to happen, so fans will just have to imagine that Sam is on Creddie’s side. 

Fans had been waiting for Creddie to become an actual thing for a while, and Season 2 of the Paramount+ revival granted their wishes with the finale when Carly admitted her feelings for her best friend. iCarly was renewed for Season 3 over a month after the Season 2 finale, so for a second we didn't know if things would advance. Luckily, the streamer delivered, and now with the two together, and I've been feeling all the feels knowing that after all this time, they are still right for each other.

One of the first duos I ever shipped was Carly and Freddie on iCarly. I was at the ripe age of 8 when the classic Nickelodeon show premiered, and was pining just as hard as Nathan Kress’ character was for the two friends to become more than just pals. Well, now, over a decade later, the two finally got together and it has me and lots of OG iCarly fans freaking out. 

After both Carly and Freddie aggressively friend-zoned each other off and on for about 15 years, Season 3, Episode 3 of the Paramount+ reboot finally saw them act on the feelings they’ve had for a very, very long time. Having the grown-up versions of Carly and Freddie come to the realization that they should be together was mature, goofy and true to character. Simply put: it was perfect. 

In the episode, Carly lost all her photos from the last 15 years when “Carly’s Bitchin’ Purple Hardrive” got fried. So, Spencer, Carly and Freddie re-created some of their favorite memories to replace the images. They spent the whole episode trying really hard not to act on their feelings because they didn't want to ruin their friendship, but then at the end, they couldn't help themselves. And they kissed after this adorable exchange:

Freddie: Is this really happening?

Carly: I hope so, it took us long enough.

That’s right my lifelong Carly + Freddie shippers! The thing we’ve been waiting for for over a decade finally happened, for real, in a serious way! I think we’re finally, officially at the beginning of a legit long-term relationship between these two, and I’m dead.

While I’m over the moon about Freddie and Carly finally getting together, Miranda Cosgrove explained why now was the right time to officially make Creddie a thing, telling EW:

She also explained that she was thrilled that those of us who have been shipping Creddie for 15 years are finally getting what we always wanted, and couldn’t wait to see their reactions. 

Like me, many fans were over the moon about this touching moment, and couldn’t help but point out how long we’ve been waiting. @bluehearts2x was one of these fans as they reposted the heartwarming scene with this fun (and nostalgic) caption:

I totally agree with the fans. Something was awakened inside me when I saw Carly and Freddie finally confess their feelings, and the kid in me couldn’t help but scream with joy for the new couple. This reboot of iCarly has helped the show grow up in a fresh way, and has given OG fans many moments to be overjoyed about, but I don’t think much can match this amazing long-awaited kiss between Carly and Freddie. 

It’s been kind of a trend in recent months for celebrities to show off pics in their bathrooms. Halle Berry showed off her incredible-looking double shower heads. The White Lotus’ Alexandra Daddario showed off the “view” from her urban bathtub. Jennifer Lopez was so tickled pink about the giant bathroom she got to use on her honeymoon, she gave fans a glimpse at her “self care” routine. Now Miranda Cosgrove is the latest to get in on a bathroom selfie, though it seems there's more to it than at first meets the eye. 

In what seems to be the latest “self love” selfie, iCarly star Miranda Cosgrove showed off her bathroom through a mirror image that also highlighted her crop top and short shorts. Normally I wouldn’t think anything of a bathroom selfie like this one, but the timing is coming after reports indicated the star’s next movie will be filming in Thailand, and the timing, plus that travel makeup back seemingly indicate that's where she's at right now.

A short time back, we learned that Cosgrove would be starring in a 2023 Netflix movie with Brooke Shields. That film Mother of the Bride was reportedly set to begin filming on April 10, and given Cosgrove confirming she’d be filming in the country on her birthday (May 10) and a subsequent post on Cosgrove’s Stories, it seems the actress may indeed be teasing her awesome new bathroom and the location of her next endeavor. This looks like Thailand to me... 

Since we've already mentioned the actress' birthday, it’s worth pointing out that Miranda Cosgrove is turning 30 next month. She previously said in an interview that she she was planning a large party for the milestone and that she hoped the big 3-0 would lead to new things. In fact, she specifically mentioned heading to Thailand to film was one of them, telling The Kelly Clarkson Show:

Cosgrove also spoke about preparing for another season of iCarly and how it's interesting to see hear from grown up fans who have stuck with the show and its cast over the years. It is hard to think of the actress turning 30 -- even if she is occasionally posting semi-thirst traps, but I have similar feelings about Daniel Radcliffe growing up and having a baby too. 

I can't guarantee more looks at Miranda Cosgrove's digs, but if this is the start of Mother of the Bride, I assume we'll get some more looks at her surroundings in the coming weeks ahead of the upcoming movie premiere.

The third season of iCarly is currently filming, which means fans will can look forward to even more nostalgia from Paramount+'s reboot of the Nickelodeon series. The show manages to create that vibe by bringing in classic characters from the OG show and by even making A+ references to Drake & Josh. And if that weren't enough, the series also has a very familiar director who some may recognize from The Suite Life of Zack & Cody: Phill Lewis! He, along with Miranda Cosgrove and Josh Peck, united for a photo, and the 2000s nostalgia is real.

If you just so happened to grew up watching kids' TV shows in the 2000s, than chances are you know Phill Lewis as Mr. Moseby from the classic Disney Channel sitcom and its spin-off, The Suite Life on Deck. Since the latter series ended, Lewis has had much success behind the camera as a director and has already helmed a number of iCarly episodes. Josh Peck, who is returning in the upcoming season as wacky manager Paul, took to Instagram to post the very nostalgic BTS photo of him, Miranda Cosgrove, and Lewis:

It pretty much goes without saying that these three were part of plenty of people's childhoods, and the fact that they're now working together like this is awesome. Though I don’t think it will ever not be somewhat strange to see Disney and Nickelodeon stars working together. Honestly, when seeing the trio now, one gets the sense that this is some kind of weird, cross-network mash-up that some kids could only dream of.

Phill Lewis portrayed Marion Moseby on Disney Channel from 2005-2011 on both Suite Life series and reprised his role for crossover episodes on Hannah Montana, That’s So Raven, and Wizards of Waverly Place. He then returned to the role in 2015 for an episode of Jessie, which starred Debby Ryan, who portrayed Bailey on Deck. It was a nice little nod to Ryan's former show, and it was particularly funny to see the Tipton Hotel manager make note of Jessie's resemblance to Bailey.

Phill Lewis' performance as the stuffy, but caring, hotelier really connected with audiences, so it wasn't too surprising that he went on to become a mainstay on Disney Channel. One can't help but wonder what the character would be up to these days, but it'd be nice to see him again. The chances of a reappearance are unlikely since Lewis has been busy helming episodes of shows like Call Me Kat and How I Met Your Father. But if Carly Shay and her crew can find new life, it's certainly not impossible for Moseby to be revived.

It's unclear as to how many iCarly episodes Phill Lewis will tackle during Season 3 but, given his resume, the producers may have tapped him for a few. I don't know about all of you, but I'd love to see him appear on camera, which would only amp up the nostalgia factor and further solidify this reboot as one of the best shows on Paramount+.

We are in the age of reboots and revivals, and one that is doing quite well is iCarly. The Paramount+ revival of the beloved Nickelodeon series has already been picked up for a third season, and Carly Shay herself, Miranda Cosgrove, recently discussed growing up on the original series. 

Cosgrove was on Nickelodeon for a big chunk of her life, with both Drake & Josh and iCarly, and spent a good portion of her teen years on iCarly. The actress, who is now reprising her fan-favorite role a decade after the series ended, talked about growing up on iCarly on the podcast Reign with Josh Smith, and it sounds like Cosgrove was also going through a lot of what her character was. She said: 

It’s clearly not easy growing up in front of TV cameras, but at least Miranda Cosgrove still got her own version of the high school experience on set. Now she’s back in action on the iCarly revival, continuing to grow along with fans who grew up watching the series.

Meanwhile, being on a show like iCarly, Cosgrove even learned a few catchphrases that weren’t exactly used by everyday teens. The actress mentioned a word that has yet to be used on the new series that she liked on the original, and she even uses in her personal life:

There have been plenty of callbacks on iCarly, from returning characters to even a reference to Miranda Cosgrove’s Drake & Josh days. With a third season on the way, hopefully we get the characters to say words like “jank” or “skunkbag,” or even wearing the infamous Penny Tees that have a penny taped to the sleeve with a random phrase on the front. It sounds like Cosgrove would at least be down to have “skunkbag” brought back.

Although she grew up on iCarly, it did take some convincing for Cosgrove to agree to a revival. Earlier this year, she admitted that she liked the idea that fans who watched the show growing up can watch the show now as an adult, seeing Carly, Freddie, and Spencer in adult situations while still keeping the same vibes as the original. And that recipe has definitely worked. 

As of now, it’s unknown when exactly the third season of iCarly will premiere, but it will be sometime in 2023 and follow the events of the Season 2 finale when the Creddie bombshell dropped. Fans can hopefully look forward to more character returns and maybe even the return of classic catchphrases like “skunkbag.”

Since the revival of the popular Nickelodeon series iCarly made its Paramount+ debut in 2021, fans (new and old) of the beloved show have been able to reunite with Carly, Freddie, and Spencer, who are now experiencing situations that are a bit more adult. Well, the show is proving to be a success, and it’s now been confirmed that the trio and their friends (and hopefully Season 2 guest star Josh Peck) will be back in a third season!

Paramount+ announced that it has renewed iCarly for Season 3, following its successful second outing, which finished airing earlier this summer. As of now, there's no word as to how many episodes it will include but, with Season 1 having had 13 episodes and the second having 10, it’s likely that this new stretch will run somewhere around there. Production is set to begin later this year, with the new episodes premiering sometime in 2023. The streamer also dropped a photo showing Miranda Cosgrove celebrating the news:

Season 2 included the introduction of Carly’s wacky manager, Paul, portrayed by the lead actress' former Drake & Josh co-star, Josh Peck. Ahead of Peck’s guest appearance, the star opened up about working with her former on-screen brother again, noting that “he’s just been such a big part” of her life since she was a kid and that working with him again was “so much fun.”

The series has also featured a number of returning OG iCarly characters like Lewbert the doorman, Ryan Ochoa’s Chuck Chambers, Gibby’s little brother Guppy, and Mrs. Benson. So while many have surely been missing original cast member Jennette McCurdy, fans sure haven't been left wanting when it comes to classic characters.

The announcement for the renewal comes nearly two months after the Season 2 finale. The episode ended with a cliffhanger involving Carly and Freddie, who seem to have feelings for one another. The “Creddie” development was major for longtime fans of the series, as Freddie had long pursued his best friend and colleague. I'm personally anxious to see if the two actually end up getting together.

iCarly originally aired on Nickelodeon from 2007-2012 and quickly became a hit with viewers. While some may have been leery of a revival, the new show has managed to stay true to the spirit of the original. Just recently, Cosgrove admitted that she said yes to a revival because she liked the idea of seeing the characters in adult settings. She also thought that fans of the series would appreciate that, given that they'd grown up with Carly Shay and co.

With another season of iCarly on the way, fans can likely expect more hijinks, character returns and hopefully, a conclusion to the long-lasting “Creddie” situation -- and more of Josh Peck's Paul! While you wait for the new episodes, you can check out all seasons of the original show and the first two of the revival, as all are available to stream using a Paramount+ subscription!

We're in the time of reboots, revivals, and spinoffs, and the return of iCarly is one of those that has been getting plenty of love from fans. Star Miranda Cosgrove is now opening up about why she finally said yes to bringing Carly Shay back, ten years after the finale despite some early misgivings about the idea.

Following Paramount+'s launch in new territories, the former Nickelodeon star spoke to Variety all about iCarly. With the original show ending in 2012, Miranda Cosgrove discussed how long ago she and her co-stars were initially asked about coming back and what made them decide to finally say “yes.” She said:

The new iCarly being aimed at adults is definitely one of the reasons why it's doing so well. Those kids who grew up watching the original series on Nickelodeon are in their 20s and 30s, so having the characters grow up and going through situations that are typical for adults – such as drinking, sex, relationships, and the like – is so great.

Miranda Cosgrove continued to praise the direction that the show was taken in. With the show exploring more adult situations for the characters, actors, and fans, the revival is a fresh take on a familiar premise that had plenty of viewers back in its day. She elaborated on how creating the show for the grown-up Nickelodeon fans inspired them, saying: 

As a fan of iCarly since the very beginning when I was 10, now in my mid-20s and watching the new series, there is such a great mix between adult storylines and the every now and then cheesy moments that make you nostalgic for the early 2000s. In fact, the success of iCarly makes me wonder what could have been if another early 2000s show had gotten the intended reboot treatment. 

While not Nickelodeon, fans of the popular early 2000s Disney Channel series Lizzie McGuire nearly got a revival themselves. The show would have followed Hilary Duff's titular character in the Big Apple in her early 30s, navigating life and relationships. Unfortunately, due to creative differences, including Duff wanting to move the show to Hulu in order to have more grown-up themes, the series never saw the light of day. The show has since remained in limbo, but there is always hope it could come back. If iCarly can, why can't Lizzie?

There isn't any word on a third season of iCarly, but following the “Creddie” cliffhanger in the Season 2 finale earlier in June, it would be pretty harsh to leave it like that without any closure. But in the meantime, all six seasons of the original iCarly, as well as both seasons of the revival, are available to stream on Paramount+ with a subscription!

Oh, to go back to the year 2007 when iCarly premiered, when there was no way of knowing just what kind of legacy the Nickelodeon show and actress Miranda Cosgrove would earn! It is now 2022, and iCarly has been revived with a more adult series that still packs in plenty of nostalgia. The Paramount+ series continues the stories of Carly, Freddie, and Spencer, and if fans needed any reminder that everybody is all grown up, Miranda Cosgrove went viral for saying the f-bomb, and now she’s speaking out about it. 

Recently, the iCarly star went viral on TikTok, courtesy of an interview she did back in 2020. The singer appeared on Whitney Cummings’ podcast Good For You, where she confessed to cussing a little bit. She then revealed that her favorite was the “Queen Mother of Dirty Words,” a.k.a. “fuck.” That little snippet led to TikTokers, including Lizzo, Joe Jonas, and Sophie Turner, to re-enact it.

Miranda Cosgrove recently, and finally, reacted to the viral moment. While speaking to People, Cosgrove shared her honest thoughts on it, just hoping she didn’t ruin anyone’s childhood:

It actually wasn’t unusual to hear Miranda Cosgrove cursing since she and her costars now do it a decent amount in the iCarly revival. Cosgrove’s Drake & Josh costar Josh Peck was among those who took advantage of his on-screen sister’s viral moment. The actor made a re-enactment on TikTok, shouting out his “little sis,” and people loved it. 

With the two actors still very close and Peck even guest-starring on Season 2 of iCarly, there are clearly no hard feelings with the TikTok, and it was all in good fun for Peck. Though it’s still a little weird seeing my childhood favorites acting so different from how I saw them on the small screen when I was a kid.

Cursing is not the only more adult element that the iCarly revival includes that definitely wasn't part of the original series. The Paramount+ show also frequently shows the characters drinking and partying, as well as them in sexual situations, albeit more awkward than romantic. 

Times have certainly changed, and people have changed, so fans will just have to accept (and hopefully embrace) that Miranda Cosgrove isn't shy about showing that she has grown up from her Nickelodeon days. Besides, the original iCarly fans have grown up as well, so it's not like the target audience of the revival is kids!

Another wave of nostalgia is imminent when it comes to the Season 2 premiere for the iCarly revival on Paramount+. The series' first season was a hub for Nickelodeon alum reunions, with even more familiar faces from the original show popping up outside of the main cast, such as Jeremy Rowley's Lewbert and Ryan Ochoa's Chuck Chambers. Another long-awaited reconnection is happening later this season in the form of a Drake & Josh reunion, with Josh Peck set to guest star, and his former co-star Miranda Cosgrove is opening up about it.

Miranda Cosgrove, who initially portrayed mischievous Megan Parker on Drake & Josh before taking the lead on iCarly, shared with ET how she feels about reuniting with her other on-screen brother. The actress reflected on her long-term relationship with Peck, and how his arrival on iCarly was like a “full circle moment”:

Cosgrove and Peck famously played step-siblings on Nickelodeon’s Drake & Josh from 2004-2008, and it was the last time the two were on-screen together in a meaningful way. (Peck did have a brief, blonde, and uncredited cameo during iCarly's first run in the episode "iReunite with Missy.") Peck is set to portray Carly’s manager Paul, and not much is known about his role or how it will come about, beyond the note that Paul will be aggressive. But with the Drake & Josh alums acting together again, it will be a real treat for OG fans no matter what happens.

In December 2021, Josh Peck shared his thoughts about reuniting with Miranda Cosgrove, saying that she’s a “good friend” of his. Even though the two only played siblings on-screen, it sounds like they share the same brain patterns, because Peck also talked about him guest starring on iCarly as being “very full circle.”

As someone who grew up on Drake & Josh and the original iCarly and is now watching the new series, I am more than excited to see Josh and Megan together again. It does make me wonder where Drake & Josh fits into the world of iCarly. As fans will probably recall, D&J fits canonically into the universes of both iCarly and Victorious, with Yvette Nicole Brown reprising her D&J role of Helen on Victorious.

Now that Peck is guest-starring on iCarly as a wholly new character, this only opens up more questions, such as: is Carly going to tell Paul how wild it is that he looks exactly like the step-brother of someone who looks exactly like her? Probably not.  Hopefully, he won’t be the only D&J alum to guest star, though perhaps we can get another iconic reference on iCarly if the other actors aren't available. (Not that anyone should expect Peck and Drake Bell to share the screen again.)

Speaking of, another reunion that likely won’t happen is a one between Carly and her best friend Sam. Jennette McCurdy previously opened up about not being on the series and what her time was like on Nickelodeon, admitting to being embarrassed about appearing on the network. Ahead of iCarly’s series premiere in 2021, Miranda Cosgrove revealed how she felt about her former co-star deciding against being on the series and gave her full support along with the rest of the cast. Plus, McCurdy is now busy promoting her uniquely titled memoir, which goes deeper into her acting past.

Miranda Cosgrove has been part of the entertainment industry for over 20 years now, meaning she has literally grown up before fans' eyes. She was once the mischievous little sister Megan on Drake & Josh, then transitioned to “it” girl Carly Shay on iCarly. With the actress now starring in a revival of the latter on Paramount+, things have been a little more grown-up for Cosgrove, and her former TV brother Josh Peck has joined the TikTok masses in poking fun at Cosgrove’s appreciation for a certain curse word. 

Just like her iCarly character, Cosgrove has been going viral lately, especially on TikTok. Back in 2020, the actress appeared on the Whitney Cummings podcast Good For You, where she admitted to a little cussing. She then revealed that her favorite word was the almighty "fuck," and the moment somehow became a new trend, with loads of TikTokers reenacting the innocence-oozing podcast clip.  

Peck, who starred alongside Cosgrove on Nickelodeon’s Drake & Josh, got in on the action. He too recreated the moment on his own TikTok, even shouting out his “little sis” and people loved it:

It’s definitely hard to believe that our childhood has flashed before our eyes, and now these Nickelodeon stars are cursing up a storm. Not that the new iteration of iCarly is 100% G-rated. But it’s just funny to see how everyone else is reacting to her favorite swear, including Cosgrove’s co-stars. 

Speaking of Josh Peck and the new iCarly, the actor will be making an appearance in the upcoming second season on Paramount+. First revealed in December, Peck will portray Carly’s aggressive manager, Paul. Fans got a first look at his role in the Season 2 trailer, and it was as kooky as one would think.

Although Peck and Cosgrove lost touch with each other in the years after Drake & Josh ended, they reunited not long ago, and it’s like nothing had changed between them. Even despite the fact that he did not invite her to his wedding, they still fall easily into brother and sister behavior, and Peck’s latest TikTok proves that. 

Josh Peck is pretty active on social media, as he also vlogs in his spare time when he’s not acting. As if that wasn’t enough, he also has a new memoir out called Happy People Are Annoying. He is definitely keeping busy, but it’s nice to know that he still has time to have fun at his former co-stars' expense. It will be nice to see him and Miranda Cosgrove on screen together again, even if they won’t be playing siblings this time around.

The Drake & Josh house may be a thing of the past, but Season 2 of iCarly drops on Paramount+ on Friday, April 8! Season 2 of the iCarly revival is in the works, and it’s going to include a Drake & Josh reunion that is sure to make fans nostalgic! Josh Peck is set to guest star in the upcoming season of the Paramount+ show, which will allow him to reunite with his former co-star and on-screen little sister, Miranda Cosgrove. Since the news was confirmed, the actor and vlogger has opened up about what he thinks about joining forces with Cosgrove once more. 

News of the Turner & Hooch star's upcoming role on the well-received show was reported by People. It's been 14 years since their iconic Nickelodeon sitcom ended, and 13 since the show aired its holiday movie, Merry Christmas, Drake & Josh. Needless to say, the two haven't worked together on a regular basis in some time. And as the star told the trade, he's very excited to work with his old colleague and her co-stars:

In Season 2 of iCarly, the actor will play Paul, Carly’s aggressive manager, and fans will surely be curious to see just how wild their relationship gets. One thing we know for sure is that the Grandfathered alum is skilled when it comes to over-the-top comedy. So he'll likely be bringing a lot of humor to this particular role.

It's going to be a treat to see Josh Peck and Miranda Cosgrove together again and, all things considered, the reunion isn't too surprising. The two stars have remained close in the years following the end of the Dan Schneider-created show, which is partially thanks to Peck’s YouTube channel. Their characters may have butted heads on the series (as Cosgrove’s Megan was always pranking her big brothers), yet it’s clear that the actors themselves actually have a much warmer relationship.

There's currently no word regarding when exactly iCarly Season 2 will be premiering, but one can only hope that fans won't have to wait too long for it to drop. iCarly fans are going to be ruing the day Nevel Papperman makes a return to the scene. With characters such as Mrs. Benson and Nora Dershlit returning to the Paramount+ revival series, it was only just a matter of time before the iCarly gang’s Internet foe Nevel showed up. And Miranda Cosgrove is getting fans pumped for his return.

In an Instagram post hyping the iCarly episode that will release on Paramount on Thursday, July 1, Miranda Cosgrove shared an image of Reed Alexander's return to the role of Nevel Papperman, which could very well spell bad news for Carly and Co. Take a look:

The iCarly actress chose a pretty great way to promote the next episode of the revival series, called “iRobotWedding.” Miranda Cosgrove shared some promo photos from the episode, and mentioned that Reed Alexander, who recurred as Nevel Papperman on the OG series, is back to make her “rue” the day, an expression that his character said a lot to Cosgrove’s Carly Shay and her friends whenever they did something that he didn’t like or made it seem like iCarly was better than his website, Nevelocity.

Reed Alexander was brought on iCarly in the first season as Nevel Papperman, who was behind the popular website Nevelocity. He’s had it in for the iCarly crew ever since Carly rejected him, as he’s stolen their website, sabotaged them, almost gotten their website shut down, and plenty more. Although they almost had a truce a couple of times, things quickly turned around and all of them stayed enemies.

When the iCarly revival was first announced last year, fans were ecstatic to see Miranda Cosgrove, Jerry Trainor and Nathan Kress reunite for the new series. It was only just a matter of time before more characters from the OG show would pop up to get fans even more nostalgic. While some characters may not be returning, including Jennette McCurdy who would rather not revisit her Nickelodeon past, it is nice to some recurring fan favorite characters make a return.

Although this revival series is a more grown-up version of the original (since that’s the whole point), it is nostalgic to fans everywhere. Not only do they see Carly, Spencer, Freddie and others once again after almost ten years, there are plenty of callbacks to the original, whether that be a dress that Carly wore in the finale, an original iCarly skit, or one of Spencer’s sculptures. The return of Nevel Papperman is just one of, hopefully many, characters from the original series, as it’s been confirmed that Carly’s short-term boyfriend Griffin (Drew Roy) is even returning for an episode or two.

iCarly came to an end in 2012 after dominating in the ratings. In anticipation for the revival series, the first two seasons became available on Netflix. Although many fans were excited, some were disappointed that not all seasons were made available to stream. However, with Paramount+, fans can stream all seasons of the original Nickelodeon series, as well as the revival, which drops new episodes every Thursday.

Miranda Cosgrove's iCarly revival has finally debuted on Paramount+, and fans have undoubtedly already noticed some changes between the original Nickelodeon series and the revival. For example, Carly can swear now, bitch, and she does so with some regularity. Perhaps the biggest change, though, is that the new series was forced to move ahead without one of the main characters from its original run, Jennette McCurdy's Sam.

It was known long before iCarly returned that Jennette McCurdy wouldn't be along for the ride, given the actress' early retirement from acting, but it wasn't clear how the show would address that major departure. Answers for Sam's absence were indeed tackled in the premiere, with an early reference later followed by a discussion between Carly and Freddie about getting back online and creating content.

In classic iCarly fashion, the show went the over-the-top ridiculous route explaining why Sam isn't hanging out with her best friends. Sam was always billed to be a tough character on the original series, so the idea that she'd be traveling the nation with a biker gang is totally on-brand for the character. Plus, Sam got a motorcycle in the original iCarly finale on Nickelodeon, so the series did a great job at keeping with continuity, while also showing a little sympathy for any bikers standing in Sam's way.

Jennette McCurdy made it clear she wouldn't return to the iCarly revival, mainly because she was ashamed of her past roles as a child actor. Miranda Cosgrove noted the show's producer tried to sway McCurdy to take part of the revival, but that she was ultimately happy that McCurdy was fulfilled in a life outside of acting.

Jennette McCurdy is not set to appear in iCarly anytime soon, but the series will continue to acknowledge her as it goes on. The revival has introduced the new character of Harper (Laci Mosley), who is Carly's roommate and new best friend. It certainly would be cool to see Sam make a return to the series in the future and have some exchanges with Harper - maybe uncomfortable ones, maybe not - and other members of the cast, but for now, it doesn't seem like that's going to happen.

While iCarly's handling of Sam's absence is reminiscent of the rest of the series, there's been a promise that this show will also tackle some more mature themes outside of four-letter words. At the same time, it appears the outlandishness the show sprinkled in will stay a part of the series, which could make for an odd combination as episodes drop weekly. Only time will tell, and we'll have to wait and see how audiences respond in the long haul.

iCarly's first three episodes are currently available on Paramount+ and future episodes will premiere on Thursdays. It's a big time for television reboots at the moment, and those skeptical about that should read up on the latest sitcom from the past that's coming back to television.

I was part of the generation that grew up with some of the best Nickelodeon shows, from classics like The Amanda Show and reruns of Kenan and Kel to some of the newer ones like Drake & Josh and Victorious. However, no other show was quite as beloved by me as iCarly, and that seems to be the case for several other fans of the former hit Nickelodeon tween-teen series.

That’s why when a new reboot of the show was announced, I was a bit skeptical. Reboots are tricky, with many not working out that well. But, after doing some research and watching that awesome trailer, I’m actually really excited for the iCarly reboot. With the main star, Miranda Cosgrove, returning to the story, here are all the reasons I’m excited about the new iCarly.

The iCarly Reboot Is Targeting Its Older Fans

With iCarly premiering way back in 2007, it’s been a good amount of time since fans of the show have really watched the classic sitcom. While the show did just pop up recently on Netflix, creating a surge in new viewers, there’s no denying that the show was definitely made for kids of the late '00s.

But, with the new iCarly, the show is growing up with its original fans. According to E! News, the new iCarly will give us a more mature look into the world of Carly, Freddie, and Spencer after the last episode of the original aired years ago. Miranda Cosgrove spoke to E! News about the change, and how it will affect the show going forward.

Some of the upcoming plot points of the series show the main cast in regular everyday live. Carly is in her late twenties and trying to fit into the modern-day influencer culture, Freddie is a divorced stepdad who has moved back in with his mother, Spencer is – well, he’s rich now, but that doesn’t mean he won’t have problems too. It sounds like a great time already and I’m here to see some new adult-like problems.

Several iCarly Stars Are Returning For The Reboot

While Jennette McCurdy will not be returning to the iCarly reboot for her own personal reasons, several of the original cast members are set to return, according to Deadline.

Miranda Cosgrove will has returned as Carly, Nathan Kress will be seen as Freddie, Carly’s tech-savvy best friend, and Jerry Trainer is back as Carly’s crazy and yet super talented artist older brother, Spencer. With that main trio coming back, I feel that no matter what, we’re going to have a fun time with this series.

I mean, in my opinion, Spencer Shay was the man that carried the original show in the first place. His jokes were top-tier. Who could ever forget when he just got an ostrich, because why not?

Plus, judging from the trailer, it looks like one of Carly’s older enemies will be back. That’s right – Nevel Papperman. Oh yeah, he’s about to bring the drama. I am here for it.

The New Cast Members Of The iCarly Reboot Look Promising As Well

While it is unfortunate that we won’t get to see Sam Puckett again in the show, or even great side characters like Gibby, that doesn’t mean that the show isn’t giving us some great new characters to support alongside the OG’s. According to Deadline, the Paramount+ original series added on two new main cast members.

Laci Mosley and Jaidyn Triplett are joining the cast of iCarly, creating wonderful new storylines alongside the other main characters. Mosely is going to play Harper, Carly’s roommate, and her best friend. Triplett will be portraying Millicent, who is Freddie’s snarky but also media-savvy stepdaughter.

While it does seem strange to think of Freddie an actual dad, I honestly wouldn’t want it any other way. Can you imagine the jokes that will fly between Freddie and Millicent while trying to get the cameras going on iCarly? I want to hear Millicent say the iconic countdown at least once.

The iCarly Apartment Looks Different In A Great Way

As a child, I was also immensely jealous of Carly and Spencer’s apartment. I mean, it was two stories in the middle of Seattle. We may make fun of Spencer, but the dude was making a lot of money to afford a place like that. However, it seems that Spencer is uber rich now, because we got to see a tour of his new apartment through Entertainment Tonight – and it looks so good.

It’s not as zany as it used to be or as colorful, which is expected. Spencer has aged up and probably matured beyond his younger self, but it still has that same iCarly feel. Some walls are knocked out and the space feels larger, and yet a lot of it feels the same but in a good way. I absolutely loved seeing the nods to the original show, with the Bottle Bot in the corner, one of Spencer’s famous art pieces, while also moving the apartment into a more modern setting.

Truth be told, it’s good that they did this. It gives iCarly a fresh start, a chance to really come out with some awesome episodes. The characters might be older, wiser, but at the same time, are still going to be up to their antics. This apartment is the perfect example of that.

I seriously cannot wait for this show to premiere. Even with all the changes they’ve made, I have faith that it’s going to work wonderfully – I mean, how can you ever get over Spencer cussing? It’s something I never knew I needed until now.

There’s something about a show from my younger teen years being labeled as sexual that just feels so wrong, even if it is referring to a current-day project and not the OG series from my childhood. Such is the case with Miranda Cosgrove's upcoming iCarly revival for Paramount+’s streaming service, as the new series will apparently feature “sexual situations,” and I'm probably not alone in not really knowing how to feel about it.

I mean, I get it. I’m not a kid anymore, and neither are the stars of iCarly. Returning star Nathan Kress, who is reprising his role as Freddie, told Page Six that the reboot definitely isn't targeting the same audience demographics that the original series was. Here is how the actor put it in his own words:

As much as I was initially apprehensive to consider iCarly containing “sexual situations,” it honestly makes a lot of sense. The revival seems to be targeting the people who watched the original show as younger viewers, and we’re all grown up now. While iCarly put its characters through some ridiculous situations in the original run it would be a little too outrageous for the same actors to come back and act like the children they were a decade ago. (One actor in particular won’t be joining the rest, but it's not an age thing.)

Jerry Trainor, who returns as Spencer Shay, technically was an adult in the original, though he was still mostly a kid at heart. Now that he is coming back ten years older and potentially ten years wiser, it will be interesting to see how his heart has aged and if we can expect a little more maturity from Trainor’s character as well.

In the same interview, Jerry Trainor spoke up about the new tone of the revival, saying that while the show isn't immediately going berserk with Ryan Murphy-level explicitness, there will be sexual elements at play. Here’s what he has to say:

If people are up in arms about Spencer saying “damn it”, I’d hate to hear what they think about the sexual element the reboot is exploring. (And I'd really hate to see what happened if the show did dip to Andrew Dice Clay-levels of insult comedy.) It won’t be too long until we find out what everyone thinks, though, because the first three episodes of the iCarly revival drop on Paramount+ on Thursday, June 17th. Following that initial episode drop, new episodes will be released on the streaming platform every Thursday for the next ten weeks of the Summer TV schedule.

The iCarly revival is just days away and original stars Miranda Cosgrove, Jerry Trainor and Nathan Kress got together for a special reunion show on Paramount+ and YouTube to talk all things iCarly (past and present). One thing discussed was Carly’s many romantic interests and Cosgrove confessed who her favorite guest star was on the show. In fact, it's a name you'd probably recognize.

iCarly has had many special guest stars over the show’s six-season run, and Miranda Cosgrove, Jerry Trainor and Nathan Kress looked back at the insane lineup, from Michelle Obama to Jack Black. When Carly’s love interests were brought up in the reunion special, the actress was at first reluctant to give an answer, but her co-stars were adamant that she admit who wowed her the most and Cosgrove finally gave in and answered with, really, the only correct one: "Harry Styles."

The One Direction musical artist guest starred in the Season 6 episode appropriately titled “iGo One Direction” in 2012. In the episode, the popular British boy band appeared on the fictional web show. During the episode, after Carly got home from a trip, she got “Jungle Worms” and when Harry drank out of her contaminated water bottle, he also got sick. Carly (of course) took care of the pop star, who soon started to fall for her. Later in the episode, after Styles got better, he still faked being sick so he could be with her. The episode proved popular with 3.9 million viewers tuning in.

When iCarly dropped its first two seasons on Netflix earlier this year in anticipation for the revival series, fans were ecstatic to relive one of their favorite shows from childhood. However, many were disappointed in the fact that the streamer didn’t have all the seasons -- including the One Direction episode. With Paramount+, fans should be happy to know they can watch all seasons of the Nickelodeon series, including the infamous One Direction episode, in which Harry Styles falls for Miranda Cosgrove’s Carly Shay.

Also part of the iCarly reunion show was the official introduction of new cast members Laci Mosley and Jaidyn Triplett, who portray Carly’s roommate Harper Raines and Freddie’s step-daughter Millicent, respectively. Paramount+ recently dropped the revival’s opening sequence, which not only includes the original theme song in all its former glory, but also Miranda Cosgrove recreating her famous “Interesting” meme from Drake & Josh.

There is no telling just what Easter Eggs the iCarly revival will have in reference to the original, or just who will make a special guest appearance. The first season is reportedly having 13 episodes and the first three will be dropping on Paramount+ this week. Nine years after the original ended, it will be great to see Carly, Freddie and Spencer together once again, as well as appearances from Mrs. Benson and Nevel.

The Paramount+ revival of iCarly is almost here! In anticipation for the show’s release next week, the streamer dropped the opening sequence and fans were overjoyed. Not only is the theme song the same exact one that was used in the original series, not re-recorded, but eagle-eyed fans also caught a hilarious reference to one of star Miranda Cosgrove’s previous roles that has turned into a meme over the years.

In the opening sequence for the iCarly revival, rather than the clips taking place on a computer screen like the original, it takes place on a phone. And at the 0:08 second mark, Cosgrove’s Carly is sitting at a computer with drink in her hand and staring at the screen. It is a direct reference to Cosgrove’s early 2000’s role as Megan Parker in Nickelodeon’s Drake & Josh, who in one episode sat at her computer and sipped a drink. The image had become a meme and it looks like Cosgrove is not letting go of her past.

And as if the reference wasn’t enough, the Megan Parker and Carly Shay actress herself got in on the fun. Miranda Cosgrove posted the two images on her Instagram as she promoted the revival’s release in a week. Cosgrove not only returning to her iCarly roots but going back even further to revisit some of her iconic Drake & Josh moments can make any fan who grew up on the shows nostalgic, and excited for what’s to come in the new series.

iCarly is the latest Nickelodeon series to get the Paramount+ treatment, as Rugrats premiered on the streaming platform just a couple of weeks ago. The revival was first announced in December, and when stars Miranda Cosgrove, Jerry Trainor and Nathan Kress finally reunited earlier this year to begin production, fans couldn’t get enough. Even though Jennette McCurdy won’t be returning, as she wants to move on from her child actor days, Carly won’t be without a best friend. And now that the premiere date, which was announced on Cosgrove’s birthday, is just a week away, fans are getting even more excited.

Meanwhile, between getting to see an updated version of Spencer’s apartment, which is a lot different than the one fans grew up with, and characters like Nevel and Mrs. Benson returning, the iCarly revival is going to be something that fans will be talking about for a long time. Fans who grew up watching the original iCarly on Nickelodeon from 2007-2012 are in for a treat and to be watching Carly, Freddie and Spencer in their adult years will be something they likely won’t forget.

The 13-episode first season of the iCarly reboot will drop its first three episodes in just one week on June 17 and in the meantime, all seasons of the original are streaming on Paramount+.

In the age of reboots and remakes, the iCarly revival seems to be hitting the right notes. But one glaring omission still stuck out from the announcements: Sam Puckett. When Jennette McCurdy announced she wasn’t returning for the revival to reprise her character, many fans were disappointed. Now, iCarly’s Miranda Cosgrove finally addressed how she feels about McCurdy not joining the Paramount+ revival.

While the iCarly revival trailer has fans excited, they can’t help but notice Sam’s absence from the show. After the fans’ outcry about Jennette McCurdy not returning, Miranda Cosgrove addressed the elephant in the room in a chat with E! News. The iCarly star said about McCurdy’s choice not to return for the revival:

Given Jennette McCurdy’s retirement from acting, it’s nice to know that Miranda Cosgrove and other castmates have the former actress’ back even years after the original series ended. By giving insight into McCurdy’s current direction, Cosgrove reassured iCarly fans that the former Nickelodeon star was doing fine. As the iCarly star pointed out, it worked out better overall for everyone.

In recent months, Jennette McCurdy has opened up about her experience working for Nickelodeon. The former actress shared some behind-the-scenes stories about her time on iCarly as well as Sam and Cat. She eventually expressed embarrassment and shame over her Nickelodeon past. The former actress went even further to say she resented her roles on those shows. So, McCurdy’s return for the reboot was never going to happen.

Miranda Cosgrove reassured iCarly fans that Jennette McCurdy’s Sam is still a part of the show. The actress stated that viewers will learn more about the character’s current relationship with Carly as well as her whereabouts in the reboot pilot. After the pilot, Sam will continue to be mentioned throughout the season, according to Cosgrove. Addressing Sam’s absence is the best way to satisfy fans of the original series while informing new viewers.

Given some of the backlash surrounding the revival, it was perhaps better for Jennette McCurdy to not join the show. Hopefully, as Miranda Cosgrove pointed out, the former actress is enjoying her new direction like other retired Hollywood stars. As for Cosgrove, fans are only a couple of weeks away from getting to see her reprise her role as Carly for the iCarly revival. The show premieres on Thursday, June 17 on Paramount+.

Any revival of a television show is bound to make changes from the original. Some may be from behind-the-scenes necessity – I’m still wondering what Sex and the City is going to do without Kim Cattrall – while some alterations may be to better serve the updated vision of the show. In the case of Paramount+'s upcoming iCarly reboot, Miranda Cosgrove's Carly and Jerry Trainor's Spencer are getting a story-driven (and pretty sweet) makeover for their iconic Seattle loft.

In a recent Instagram video, the aforementioned iCarly stars Miranda Cosgrove and Jerry Trainor took the Internet on a tour of Spencer’s new digs, and who wouldn't love to spend some time in an updated pad like this?

The general layout of the iCarly loft is the same, with that unexplained freight elevator front and center. However, the original set was more, shall we say, funky. Spencer was a starving artist, constantly constructing statues out of refuse (like the plastic bottle man the crew recreated for the reboot), and his apartment reflected that. The wacky colors and mismatched furniture served to reinforce Spencer’s chaotic personality.

In the reboot, however, things are a bit different. According to Miranda Cosgrove, Spencer is loaded now - presumably his art career finally took off. It makes sense that Spencer’s apartment would change to reflect his new life.

And change, it does. The place is completely refurbished and somehow manages to look simultaneously retro and modern, with its mix of futuristic metal cabinets and antique touches. The kitchen (where hopefully spaghetti tacos will be making an appearance) is outfitted in shiny chrome and includes a refrigerator with a window. This is Spencer we’re talking about, though, so of course all the metal is paired with scarlet acrylic chairs.

Two especially cool highlights of the new-and-improved apartment tour include a diner-style jukebox and a wet bar constructed from the back fender of a vintage car. They’re exactly the sort of things a well-to-do yet zany artist would find at an upscale antiques store. This just goes to show how essential design is when it comes to story-telling. Whether it’s through set or costumes, design lets the audience know who a character is before they ever speak a line. Just from watching this Instagram video, I already have a pretty good idea of the iCarly reboot’s vibe.

And those are just the objects we can clearly make out. We can also see a bunch of electric guitars in the background, prompting me to imagine the unbridled chaos of a musical iCarly episode (make it happen, Paramount+). Although we only got a look at the main living space, we won’t have to wait long to see the rest, including the studio where the iCarly web series is produced.

The iCarly reboot is set to premiere on June 17 on Paramount+. Returning cast members include Miranda Cosgrove as Carly, Jerry Trainor as Spencer, and Nathan Kress as Freddie. Jeanette McCurdy will not be reprising her role as Sam, but the show will welcome two new cast members: actor and podcaster Laci Mosley as Carly’s new friend Harper, and Jaidyn Triplett as Spencer’s step-daughter Millicent.

The original series finale of iCarly in 2012 marked the end of an era. Most of the shows that had come to characterize the Nickelodeon network, such as Drake and Josh, Zoey 101, and Victorious (and, of course, iCarly) had ended, and most of those shows' viewers were beginning to age out of the network’s target demographic. Executive producer Dan Schneider, once a Nick powerhouse, began to produce fewer shows until he left the network in 2018. However, almost a decade after its original finale, iCarly is coming back to life.

While celebrating lead actor Miranda Cosgrove’s birthday, Paramount+ revealed the premiere date for the new show in an unexpected way. Take a look below:

With the bad news out of the way, let’s get to the good news. Internet star Carly (Miranda Cosgrove), her nerdy best friend Freddie (Nathan Kress), and her eccentric older brother, Spencer (Jerry Trainor) are confirmed to be starring. To bulk up the cast, Paramount+ added Laci Mosley as Carly’s new roommate Harper and Jaidyn Triplett as Spencer’s stepdaughter Millicent.

Obviously some time has passed if occasional pyromaniac Spencer has gotten married, so it will be interesting to see how iCarly handles the time jump. Will they address the absence of Sam and Gibby? And what have Carly and Freddie been up to? Maybe the pair will decide to reboot their web series, providing an impetus for future episodes. The original show predated the rise of ‘YouTubers,’ but now influencers are commonplace. How will the new iCarly stand out from the pack? We’ll just have to wait and see.

As more news pours in fans are getting more excited for Paramount+'s iCarly revival. While details on the new show are scarce at the moment, we know series alum Jennette McCurdy, who played Sam on the show will not be returining. Well, as a result, it looks like Miranda Cosgrove's Carly is officially getting a new BFF for the new series, but that’s not all!

Single Parents actress Laci Mosley will be playing Carly’s roommate and best friend, Harper, according to Deadline. Not only that, but Florida Girls star Jaidyn Triplett will portray Freddie’s snarky and social media-savvy stepdaughter, Millicent. Miranda Cosgrove (Carly Shay), Nathan Kress (Freddie Benson) and Jerry Trainor (Spencer Shay) will reprise their roles from Nickelodeon’s popular series, which followed three teenage friends as they started their own web show while navigating everyday life.

The news of Carly’s new best friend shouldn’t come to a surprise as Jennette McCurdy, who played Carly’s loyal best friend and iCarly cohost, Sam Puckett, has spoken out about her thoughts on her childhood career and her regrets about it. During an episode of her Empty Inside podcast, McCurdy admitted she’s ashamed of much of her acting career. As of right now, it seems she has no plans to reprise the character she played for six seasons on iCarly’s and on the one-season spin-off Sam & Cat, which co-starred Ariana Grande.

The first season of the new series will have 13 episodes and picks up nearly a decade after the final iCarly episode. The finale, which aired in 2012, saw Carly leaving for Italy with her father. The revival follows Carly and her friends navigating work, love and their family in their twenties.

The iCarly revival was first announced in December and fans were very excited about the thought of seeing Carly, Freddie and Spencer back on their screens. Miranda Cosgrove shared the first look at the revival through a late-January Instagram post featuring Nathan Kress and Jerry Trainor, and fans could not get enough. The three also recently made their return to Nickelodeon when they presented at the Kids’ Choice Awards, an awards show that honored iCarly with plenty of orange blimps.

Last month, executive producer and co-showrunner Jay Kogen resigned from his roles in the revival due to “creative differences” between him and Miranda Cosgrove. It doesn’t seem as if that has slowed anything down though, as it was announced at Nickelodeon’s upfronts that the series is due to release this summer on Paramount+.

The news of an iCarly revival series brought with it a swift round of nostalgia for Nickelodeon's good old days. But, will the new iteration still hold the magic that the show once possessed? With the revelation of a big change behind the scenes of the revival, early bets are that we may be in for something different.

Deadline reported that executive producer and co-showrunner Jay Kogen has resigned from his roles in the iCarly revival. The departure comes as a surprise, considering we just learned that Kogen signed on at the end of 2020. Sources told Deadline that the reason for Kogen's sudden exit is a direct result of “creative differences” between Kogen and star Miranda Cosgrove.

In December, TVLine revealed that an iCarly revival was ordered by Paramount+ and that most of the original actors would be returning. This includes Miranda Cosgrove as the titular character, with her on screen older brother, Jerry Trainor, and co-star best friend, Nathan Kress. But, oddly enough, no Jennette McCurdy as Carly's angry but lovable best friend Sam. And now, no Jay Kogen.

Jay Kogen has a storied writer’s background in more mature shows, such as The Simpsons, Fraiser and Everybody Loves Raymond. It is possible this experience just didn’t mesh well with reviving one of the most celebrated early-2000s kid shows of all time.

Of course, the only hope for success with these nostalgic revival series is to translate the same love to a newer, younger audience. Fuller House had spectacular success reviving the beloved 1990s sitcom, going on to produce five seasons on Netflix. The only problem is that not many revivals are praised for surpassing the original’s greatness.

iCarly is regarded as being practically prescient of the Youtuber era, as it saw its young characters navigate a “webcast.” They predate the variety of PewDiePies and Jenna Marbles that we have come to know in real time. But, Jay Kogen's departure as executive producer and co-showrunner is indicative that the iCarly revival needs or wants to go in a different direction than its predecessor.

One can only speculate that the iCarly revival will see Carly and the gang mentoring a modern YouTube channel or pursuing one of their own. It's hard to imagine Carly learning the in's and outs of the makeup tutorial world or finding out about ASMR or food bingeing videos. Still, as with the news of a Sex in the City revival, the most intriguing potential concept behind these revivals is seeing what a trailblazer figure from a different era thinks about the constantly moving cultural pieces of modern society, and how they fit into it.

Then again, the iCarly revival might just be seeking to give a younger generation something sweet and silly in an uncertain time. iHope.

Fast forward to the year 2021 and the announcement of iCarly’s revival with three of the original stars takes you back. With that announcement, one might want to rewatch the show that was part of their childhood for so long and, now, everyone finally can.

The first two seasons of the hit Nickelodeon series iCarly are now finally on Netflix ahead of the show’s revival on Paramount+. The show was part of a golden age of Nickelodeon programming and has since become a classic alongside other shows like Drake and Josh and Zoey 101.  So it should come as no surprise that fans are doing their own random dancing in celebration of finally being able to watch one of their favorite shows -- no matter how old they are. Many are also saying that if they watch the series they were once obsessed with, they probably won't get much work done. Ever change the channel to Nickelodeon in hopes of reliving a childhood memory from one of your favorite episodes of Zoey 101, Victorious or iCarly? The channel had a solid lineup of sitcoms back in the day, which Paramount is now looking to ahead of the launch of its streaming service Paramount+, which will replace CBS All Access this March. iCarly has a revival coming and the cast just posed for their first close up in a long time.

The iCarly revival was announced in December and it looks like cameras could already be rolling for the nostalgic sitcom reunion. Just take a look at a 27-year-old Miranda Cosgrove and two old friends:

Alright, so we missed them! It’s been a little over eight years since the Nickelodeon series ended after six seasons with “iGoodbye.” Miranda Cosgrove posed with Nathan Kress and Jerry Trainor, who played Freddie and Spencer in the show. The actress remained cryptic with a blue heart emoji under the photo, but in the background “iCarly Set 1” is clearly marked. Looks like the gang is already back to their web show that echoed the rise of YouTube and the YouTuber.

Fans are obviously excited, but it seems the photo has really taken them by surprise. @AllForCosmos couldn’t hold in the excitement with her comment on Miranda Cosgrove's Instagram post:

Other fans flooding the comments went for piles of AAAAA’s and called the post their “childhood.” User @jewell.perfetto summed it up well by saying “no freaking way.” It’s fair to say a lot of fans had no idea it was coming, or this fast anyway. The fans are pretty speechless:

Another fan detailed that they’re in tears about the news, while getting nostalgic about the end of the show back in 2012. iCarly was definitely super popular and likely could have lasted much longer than it did, but Miranda Cosgrove decided to move on and attend college after spending much of her childhood as a big star for Nickelodeon, also as the little sis on Drake & Josh.

There’s also a good sum of fans who could only see the cast members who are not present in the photo. Jeanette McCurdy, who played Carly’s bestie Sam, and Noah Munck, who played Gibby, do not look to be part of the revival. One fan had this to say about the striking lack of Sam:

Jeanette McCurdy has previously opened up about her eating disorder that sprang from her time as a child star, something that Disney star Demi Lovato also struggled with while finding fame. It’s understandable that not every actor involved in iCarly may jump at returning to the series, but it is exciting to see some central stars from the show back together and back to work.

The Despicable Me franchise is one of the strongest in the world, and it seems to only be getting stronger. The first film was a surprise smash when it was released in 2010, and along with the Despicable Me 2 and Minions they movies have made more than $2.5 billion at the global box office. This success means that the newly released Despicable Me 3 most definitely won't be the last title that the series produces... but what does that mean for the future of Despicable Me 4? Nothing is firmly in stone, but star Miranda Cosgrove has thoughts on what she'd like to see in what would be the third spin-off:

I had the opportunity to sit down with Miranda Cosgrove -- who voices the eldest daughter Margo in the Despicable Me series -- at the Los Angeles press day for Despicable Me 3, and it was at the end of our conversation that I brought up the future of the franchise. I asked the actress if there was anything in particular she would like to see happen in another installment, and without missing a beat she laid out her idea for Gru's children to go bad.

It would certainly be an interesting shift to see Margo (Miranda Cosgrove), Edith (Dana Gaier) and Agnes (Nev Scharrel) go evil in Despicable Me 4 if not just because it would essentially run against all of the themes we've been playing out in the movies thus far. The presence of the young girls in Gru's home is one big specific thing that has turned him from a life of crime to a life of fighting crime, so to see Margo and her sisters go bad would cause some serious conflict for the franchise's lead character. In that, it's actually a pretty good idea.

The idea of the girls going evil wasn't the only potential Despicable Me 4 plot point discussed either. Coming up with another possibly big story for the young orphan characters in the movies, I asked Miranda Cosgrove if it was possible that we could eventually see the return of Margo, Edith and Agnes' birth parents, given that we never really found out what happened to them. The actress couldn't confirm anything, but certainly did accept it as a possible avenue of exploration, saying,

Despicable Me 3, which stars Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Miranda Cosgrove, Trey Parker and Jenny Slate, is now in theaters everywhere.

Kylie Jenner - Christina Aguilera in her "Dirrty" video

It's about time for her arrival! Kylie Jenner took us all the way back to 2002 with a pitch-perfect portrayal of Christina Aguilera's look in the music video for "Dirrty." Aguilera herself gave the costume her stamp of approval, tweeting "Get it girrrl!!!"

Scott Eastwood - Clint Eastwood in The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Scott Eastwood kept it all in the family this year. The up-and-coming young star paid tribute to his famous father Clint Eastwood by dressing up as one of his most famous characters: the bounty hunter "Blondie" from 1966's The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.

Amy Schumer - Dustin from Stranger Things

Amy Schumer cashed in on the trendiest Halloween costume concept of the year by bringing the kids from Stranger Things to life. But rather than going as the superpowered girl Eleven, the comedian instead opted to channel the lovable little boy Dustin.

Arrow and Teen Wolf star Colton Haynes continued his dominance over all of Halloween this year by applying mounds of prosthetics and going out as Miss Piggy. In the past, he'd been known to go similarly all-out as Ursula from The Little Mermaid and Shrek's Princess Fiona.

Colton Haynes wasn't the only celeb to use prosthetics to create a perfect costume. Katy Perry looked unrecognizable after transforming herself into presidential candidate Hillary Clinton this year.

Bette Midler definitely gave the people what they wanted this Halloween! The star of stage and screen resurrected her famous 1993 Hocus Pocus witch Winifred Sanderson to properly celebrate the night.

Besties and tourmates Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas got cute in a couples costume. Of course, they kept the theme musical, with both singers dressing up as main characters from The Wizard of Oz.

Leave it to Mindy Kaling to come up with the most creative, hilarious, and pop culture-relevant Halloween costume of all. The Mindy Project star donned a white mustache, wig, and a pilot's outfit to portray not famed pilot Sully Sullenberger, but Tom Hanks playing the pilot in his new film Sully. Talk about layers.

Paris Hilton - Supergirl

Paris Hilton is known to go all out on Halloween, and this year was no different. The socialite changed her costume each day of the weekend, dressing up as Supergirl, Alice from Alice in Wonderland, and Little Red Riding Hood.

Miranda Cosgrove - Daphne from Scooby-Doo

Jinkies! Miranda Cosgrove had a mini iCarly reunion with former costar Jennette McCurdy to channel the groovy, mystery-solving team from Scooby-Doo. Cosgrove sported a long red wig as Daphne, and McCurdy put some glasses on to be the group's Velma.

Ariel Winter - Emma Stone from Easy A

Like Paris Hilton, Modern Family star Ariel Winter also switched up her costume various times over the Halloween weekend. Along with dressing up as a nurse and a bunny, the young star paid homage to Olive Penderghast --- better known as the slut-shamed high schooler that Emma Stone portrayed in 2010's Easy A.

Kourtney Kardashian - Corpse Bride

The oldest Kardashian sister added some gore to a wedding gown when she went out for a viewing of Tim Burton's classic film A Nightmare Before Christmas (though, Corpse Bride may have been more fitting). She also had a more kid-friendly costume for hanging out with her children, dressing up as the Red Ranger from Power Rangers.

Jenna Dewan Tatum - Unicorn

Jenna Dewan Tatum lived out a truly magical fantasy for her Halloween girls' night out. The actress covered herself in sparkles and placed a horn on her head to embody a unicorn.

Taylor Lautner and Nina Dobrev - Ryan Lochte

Another trendy costume this year is to go as disgraced Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte, and apparently more than one celebrity had this idea. Both Taylor Lautner and Nina Dobrev showed up at a party with the same silver hair and gold medal.

Martha Stewart - Marilyn Monroe

Martha Stewart didn't just celebrate Halloween by baking some cookies --- the lifestyle guru also get all dolled up as Marilyn Monroe for the holiday. Stewart also shared a much less glamorous costume earlier as a bloodied nurse.

Khloe Kardashian - Storm

Ryan Lochte wasn't the only silver-haired costume in Hollywood. Khloe Kardashian powered up as the X-Men hero Storm.

Zoë Kravitz - Princess Peach

Zoë Kravitz turned the Halloween party she popped up at into the Mushroom Kingdom, and claimed the thrown as Princess Peach. There's no Mario in sight, but Luigi made an appearance!

The MCU’s upcoming Spider-Man reboot already has a good creative team in place with director Jon Watts and writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein. As far as casting goes, though, there hasn’t been a lot of revelations. Only Tom Holland as Peter Parker has been confirmed by Marvel, and Marisa Tomei is reportedly playing Aunt May. Now there’s a list making its way around the internet that may hint at actors being looked at, or who are close to signing on for the Web-Slinger’s latest big screen adventure.

Latino Review posted a list of actors that they say are either confirmed, in final negotiations, or in talks to appear in the 2017 Spider-Man film. While many of the names are younger actors that will play Peter’s high school classmates, there are several big names also listed as villains and supporting characters. Keep in mind that this list is not confirmed and should be taken with a major grain of salt.

First up, Titanic star Billy Zane is listed as being in final negotiations to play Adrian Toomes, a.k.a. The Vulture, a villain that has yet to be adapted for live-action. Vulture was planned to be the main villain in Sam Raimi’s scrapped Spider-Man 4, where he would have been played by John Malkovich, and the only hint of the character in the movies have been his trademark wings appearing in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Zane typically avoids major blockbusters, although he will be seen next year in Zoolander 2. Honestly though, whether this list is legit or not, they should cast Billy Zane. Aside from knowing he can pull off Vulture’s distinct bald head, he already has experience in the world of superheroes playing the eponymous protagonist in 1996’s The Phantom. Oh, and he’s a cool dude.

Also in final negotiations is Orange is the New Black star Jason Biggs, who could play Mac Gargan, a.k.a. The Scorpion. Like Vulture, Scorpion is another classic Spidey foe that hasn’t been seen on the big screen yet. Unlike Zane, it’s hard to picture Biggs as Spider-Man’s intimidating foe with the robotic stinger tail. Biggs does have some experience playing a superhero from his voice work as Leonardo in the current Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series. 

As far as the supporting cast goes, other big names include Hugh Laurie close to being cast as J. Jonah Jameson, Forest Whittaker is talks to play Robbie Robertson, Miranda Cosgrove is being looked at for Betty Brant, and Teen Wolf star Tyler Posey is being considered for Ned Leeds. Robert Downey Jr. is also listed as reprising his Tony Stark/Iron Man role, which was rumored earlier in the year. Here’s the thing with this list: you could certainly imagine some of these famous actors appearing in the film, but to have all of them is a stretch of the imagination, especially since some of them already being committed to other big projects, like Whitaker in Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One.

Marvel and Sony’s joint Spider-Man hits theaters on July 28, 2017, and presumably in the coming months we’ll get more concrete casting info that will either vet or debunk the above names.

iCarly star Miranda Cosgrove may have found a new television home. The Nickelodeon series only recently ended its run, and now the teen star has been cast in the NBC comedy pilot Girlfriend in a Coma, where she is set to play Christina Ricci character's daughter.

Girlfriend in a Coma, which I am still hoping is just a working title, surrounds a woman who wakes from a very long coma to find out she has a 17-year-old daughter. Word on the street is that Christina Ricci was in talks to come on board the pilot just last week in the role of the mother, Karen. Now, Deadline says Ricci has indeed been cast, and that Miranda Cosgrove will be playing the role of her daughter, Evie. Evie is described as an overachiever bent on saving money and getting into a good college, who finds everything in her life thrown into chaos by her mother’s sudden awakening.

Cosgrove became a staple on Nickelodeon over the six season run of iCarly, in which she played the title role, and prior to that she appeared on Nickelodeon’s Drake & Josh. However, the actress has also moved on to a career outside of the teen comedy world, providing vocals for Despicable Me, as well as the sequel which is due out this summer. Girlfriend in a Coma marks her first network pilot.

Based on the book by Douglas Coupland, Girlfriend in a Coma is written by Liz Brixius of Nurse Jackie fame. It is one of eleven comedy pilots ordered by NBC this season, but so far the casting seems to be putting it in a favorable light – if the network can just find a better title.

Nickelodeon has made the official announcement that its teen-centered comedy series iCarly will come to an end after five seasons. The show that launched Miranda Cosgrove to stardom will film a television special this June set to air in November, and then the curtain will fall on the show as well as the webcast show-within-a-show.

[[ icarly ]] has been a pretty high profile series for an original airing on a kid-centered network like Nick. The series has seen big name guest stars that include First Lady Michelle Obama, Jack Black, and Jimmy Fallon (don’t be confused if you haven’t seen that episode, it’s filming right now) along with some major stars of the music world such as Good Charlotte. As with most shows that surround teens growing up, eventually they get a little too old and it’s time to move on. I suspect that might be part of the decision to end the show, which was reported by Tv Guide today.

A number of the show’s stars will move on to new projects at Nick, including Noah Munck who is starring in a new pilot recently given the greenlight, and Jennette McCurdy, who will move onto a live action series with ICarly produce Dan Schneider. Jerry Trainor also has a new project in the works with Nick. And what will become of star Miranda Cosgrove? Well, unlike some other pretty young teen actresses, she’s headed to college and not a career as tabloid fodder. No word on whether she plans to go back to an entertainment career when she graduates, or move onto something else.
