Fans of the Extraction films starring Chris Hemsworth got some good news about the franchise earlier this year, although not in the form of a continuation in the form of Extraction 3. A television spinoff is happening to expand the world of the films, and there are finally some casting updates beyond Omar Sy as leading man. Game of Thrones vet Natalie Dormer landed a role, just days after another star was announced.

Dormer will be a series regular on Extraction, according to Deadline, to play the leader of a private military contractor by the name of Clayton Wisper. This will be Dormer's second project for Netflix, although it's a safe bet that working on the series will be a lot more intense than her voice work on The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. (The Dark Crystal show was cancelled in 2020.)

The actress is likely still best known for portraying Margaery Tyrell on Game of Thrones, with Dormer's character actually in more episodes than heavy-hitters like Joffrey Baratheon (Jack Gleeson) and Catelyn Stark (Michelle Fairley).

Netflix describes the project as an "action thriller" following a mercenary on a risky mission in Libya to rescue hostages, stuck between killers and factions at war. It won't be all action, however, and the story unfolding as a TV show rather than a movie means that there will be more time for character development than could happen in either of the films.

The spinoff comes from showrunner, executive producer, and writer Glen Mazzara (known for shows like The Walking Dead and The Shield), with the Russo Brothers of MCU fame on board as executive producers.

While the Extraction show certainly won't be ready in time for a premiere in the 2025 TV schedule, there's more encouraging news about the progress so far. Boyd Holbrook has been cast to play an Extraction team leader named David Ibarra, according Deadline, as a series regular.

Like Dormer, Holbrook has worked on Netflix productions before, including Narcos opposite stars like Wagner Moura, The Last of Us' Pedro Pascal, and Andor's Diego Luna. More recently, he wrapped his time as part of The Sandman cast with the series finale in July.

Natalie Dormer and Boyd Holbrook star opposite The Killer and Jurassic World: Dominion's Omar Sy, who was the only cast member confirmed when the Extraction spinoff was announced in early 2025. (Sy also has Netflix credits to his name with three seasons of Lupin.)

Now, if you're a fan of the Extraction films (both of which are available streaming now with a Netflix subscription), you may notice that I'm not listing Chris Hemsworth or any other names from the movies. At the time of writing, it's not clear how closely tied the show will be to the stories of Tyler Rake (Hemsworth), if at all.

For now, you can always revisit the two movies streaming on Netflix, and keep your eyes peeled for any more casting news to come out of the show in the weeks to come.

Stories about Kings, Queens, Princes, and Princesses have long been a Hollywood favorite. Sure, there are amazing fictional kings and queens like T’Challa in Black Panther and Abe Froman, the Sausage King of Chicago in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, but this list is about the real ones. Historical depictions of some of the greatest, and worst, monarchs in world history. Kings like Henry VIII and Louis XIV. Queens like Elizabeth II and Victoria. Sure, the movies they appear in are not always the most historically accurate, but that doesn’t diminish the portrayals of royalty by these fine actors. 

Patrick McGoohan As King Edward I - Braveheart

Braveheart is far from the most historically accurate movie of all time, but one character that Mel Gibson and company at least got close to correct is Edward I, or Edward Longshanks, as he was known in the movie and at the time. He was a brutal, remorseless leader, and fought with the Scots for most of his reign. Patrick McGoohan’s performance of Edward is great, one of the real highlights of the movie. 

Judi Dench As Queen Elizabeth I - Shakespeare In Love

To be sure, Shakespeare In Love isn’t as loved today as it was when it was released in 1998. Its upset win for Best Picture at the 1999 Oscars over Saving Private Ryan is still questioned and the movie is often maligned unfairly. One reason it's unfair is Judi Dench’s fantastic performance as Queen Elizabeth I. 

Emily Blunt As Queen Victoria - The Young Victoria

Most of the images we see of Queen Victoria come from later her in her long reign, after Prince Albert died and the older queen was seen wearing black and looking dour. The Young Victoria is a fresh take, showing the queen, played by Emily Blunt, as young and vibrant. It wasn’t a huge hit in the United States, but it’s a really good movie, with a great performance by Blunt. 

Kenneth Branagh As King Henry V - Henry V

Kenneth Branagh has done more for Shakespeare in the modern age than anyone in Hollywood and the prime example is his portrayal of the titular king in Henry V. His delivery of the famous St. Crispin's Day speech is worth the price of admission alone. 

Colin Firth As King George VI - The King's Speech

Colin Firth’s performance and King George VI in The King’s Speech is as close to perfect as possible and well deserving of the Oscar he was awarded for it. Firth brilliantly plays both the reluctant king’s vulnerability and his strength. It’s a fine line to walk, as both are completely necessary to understand King George VI in full. 

Kirsten Dunst As Marie Antoinette - Marie Antoinette

Marie Antoinette is one of the most infamous royals of all time. The French queen is notorious in history for her aloof attitude towards the revolting French peasants during the French Revolution. The film Marie Antoinette starring Kirsten Dunst as the titular queen, did wow audiences at first, but has since become one of Sofia Coppola’s most respected films, and with good reason. It’s a very modern movie telling an old story and Dunst’s performance enhances that perfectly. 

Elizabeth Taylor As Cleopatra - Cleopatra

Elizabeth Taylor’s performance in Cleopatra is one of the most iconic in Hollywood history. Though it deserves some criticism from more enlightened modern audiences, it doesn’t diminish the performance. Taylor is amazing and only a star like her could carry a movie on the scale and scope of Cleopatra. It’s a true Hollywood epic from the Golden Age of Hollywood and Taylor is as glamorous as any actor could be. 

Timothée Chalamet As King Henry V - The King

It’s not easy for any actor to step into one of Shakespeare’s best characters like Henry V in Henry V. This is a character that Laurence Olivier played on the silver screen for goodness sake!  Timothée Chalamet took the risk and it paid off for the actor and audiences in The King. The movie is a new take on Shakespeare’s plays,  taken from his four plays about historical English kings, so the pressure was on. Chalamet kills it in the movie, playing the role quite differently as others have, but it works for the updated version. 

Cate Blanchett As Queen Elizabeth I - Elizabeth

Elizabeth is a wonderful movie, anchored by a wonderful performance by Cate Blanchett as Queen Elizabeth I. Blanchett returned for a sequel, Elizabeth: A Golden Age which was a less-than-wonderful movie, but Blanchett was once again great. The performances in both set a new standard for the historical figure who has been portrayed often on film. 

Janet Suzman As Tsarina Alexandra - Nicholas And Alexandra

One of the most pivotal moments of the 20th Century was the overthrow and execution of Tsar Nicolas of Russia and his family by the Bolsheviks during the Russian Revolution. It’s a story that has rarely been told on film in the West, but Nicholas And Alexandra is the rare exception. It’s a good movie, with a great Oscar-nominated performance by Janet Suzman.

Chief Mangosuthu Buthelezi As King Cetshwayo - Zulu

Chief Mangosuthu Buthelezi is not a professional actor, and the great 1964 film Zulu is his only appearance. His role as King Cetshwayo is also not a large one, but he makes this list because one, he was an actual Zulu chief in South Africa, and two, he was the son of the man he plays. King Cetshwayo who led the Zulu Kingdom at the time of the war depicted in the movie, so while the part was not big, it’s important to have it on this list. 

Jonathan Rhys Meyers As King Henry VIII - The Tudors

One of the most popular depictions of royalty on screen in the last couple of decades has to be Jonathan Rhys Meyers As King Henry VIII in The Tudors. Meyers plays a young, dashing version of the king that most people know from his later portraits, looking less healthy than the king was as a young man. Henry VIII is one of the most notorious kings in English history and Meyers shows why, but also plays him as anti-hero we all kind of love. 

Helen Mirren As Queen Elizabeth II - The Queen

Helen Mirren's performance as Queen Elizabeth in the Queen is everything you would expect, as the The Dame plays the role with respect, but with with a toughness that the queen was known for behind closed doors. 

Sean Connery As King Richard - Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves

We couldn’t make this list without one of the most famous cameos of all time. It’s one of the shorter roles on the list, but Sean Connery’s surprise appearance as King Richard at the end of Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves shocked and delighted audiences. In real life, King Richard spent almost none of his time on the island of Great Britain, preferring to remain in Aquitaine in France, so it’s a bit of a stretch that he would be at a wedding in England, but no matter, he makes everyone smile. 

Trine Dyrholm As Queen Margrete - Margrete: Queen Of The North

Margaret I of Denmark is one of the most important monarchs in European history, to say nothing of her being a woman in power in the Middle Ages, which was very rare. Her story is well known in Scandinavia, but less known in the United States. That’s even more reason to watch the Danish movie Margrete: Queen Of The North, along with Trine Dyrholm’s performance of the queen. 

Claire Foy, Olivia Colman, and Imelda Staunton As Queen Elizabeth II - The Crown

How do you put only one of the three women who played Queen Elizabeth II on The Crown with such aplomb on this list? You can’t, so all three, Claire Foy, Olivia Colman, and Imelda Staunton all make it. Each one brought their own panache to the role of the now-legendary queen who we lost in 2022. Foy and Coleman both won Emmys for the role and Staunton was nominated in 2023. It’s three fantastic performances by three wonderful actresses. They even got to act together at the end. 

Nigel Hawthorne As King George III - The Madness Of King George

King George III is most famous in the United States for being the king we fought a revolution against. While he is considered one of the greatest kings in English history, he also had a severe undiagnosed mental illness that affected him later in life. It’s that part of his life that The Madness Of King George is about. It’s a hard role to play, but Nigel Hawthorne nails the role. 

Leonardo DiCaprio As King Louis XIV - The Man In The Iron Mask

There are surprisingly few portrayals of King Louis XIV of France in English-language cinema, despite the Sun King being one of the most consequential monarchs in European history. The most notable one is a fictionalized version of King Louis by Leonardo DiCaprio in The Man In The Iron Mask.

Vanessa Kirby, Helena Bonham Carter, and Lesley Manville As Princess Margaret - The Crown

One of the best achievements of The Crown (among many) was the show’s casting. The three actors who played Princess Margaret, Vanessa Kirby, Helena Bonham Carter, and Lesley Manville, all did an amazing job. You can’t pick one of the next because they all simply nailed the tragedy and triumph of the princess in the shadow of her older sister, Queen Elizabeth II. 

Olivia Coleman As Queen Anne - The Favourite

Olivia Coleman is great at playing royalty on screen, even when it’s a wildly fictionalized and weird version of Queen Anne like she does in The Favourite. The movie is very loosely based on history but is very much representative of director Yorgos Lanthimos’ style. So while Coleman may not be playing Queen Anne exactly as she was, it’s still a downright amazing performance. 

Natalie Dormer As Anne Boleyn - The Tudors

Natalie Dormer is perfectly cast as Anne Boleyn in The Tudors. She’s beautiful, yet vulnerable, coy, yet determined, and sweet, yet conniving. Boleyn is one of the most tragic queens in English history and it’s hard to picture anyone but Dormer playing her after she starred in this show. 

Richard Harris As King Arthur - Camelot

We could argue all day about how “real” King Arthur was. More myth than man in English folklore, there isn’t even consensus on whether he existed at all. But no matter, Richard Harris’ portrayal of the legend in Camelot is still worthy of mention on this list because it’s so darn good and so darn iconic. 

Oliver Dimsdale As King Edward VIII - Downton Abbey

In the finale of Season 4 of Downton Abbey, audiences meet Edward VIII when he is still Prince of Wales, before becoming king and before his abdication shocked the world. Though it’s not the biggest role, Oliver Dimsdale instantly gives you a sense of exactly who the future Duke of Windsor was, a conniving womanizer who really wasn't fit to be king. 

Katharine Hepburn As Eleanor Of Aquitaine - The Lion In Winter

It’s hard to understand why The Lion In Winter isn’t as remembered as other movies from the late ‘60s, because Katharine Hepburn's performance as Eleanor Of Aquitaine, the queen of England in the 12th Century, is amazing. She even took home an Oscar for it. 

Sean Bean as Odysseus - Troy

In the original theatrical version of Troy, Odysseus, the King of Ithaca, played by Sean Bean, doesn’t have all that big of a role. He’s a scene-stealer though. In the director’s cut, which makes for a much better movie, the role is expanded. Plus, it's a rare movie that Sean Bean doesn’t die in. 

Sigourney Weaver as Queen Isabella I - 1492: Conquest Of Paradise

There’s no way around this: 1492: Conquest Of Paradise is not a good movie. It’s historically inaccurate and celebrates Christopher Columbus a little too much while ignoring a lot of his atrocities. Still, Sigourney Weaver, while slightly miscast, does a phenomenal job with what she’s given to do as Queen Isabella I of Spain, Columbus’ benefactor. 

Tadanobu Asano As Genghis Khan - Mongol

If this was a list of the worst performances of royalty, John Wayne’s offensive and terrible version of Genghis Khan in The Conqueror would be at the top of the list. On the flip side, we have the Japanese actor Tadanobu Asano as the Mongolian king in Mongol. It’s not the most widely-known movie, as it’s a Russian production in Mandarin and Mongolian. It’s worth your time and effort to seek it out though, it’s fantastic. 

Judi Dench As Queen Victoria - Mrs. Brown

Is there a role out there that Dame Judi Dench doesn’t nail? That’s a rhetorical question, of course, and her performance as Queen Victoria in Mrs. Brown is certainly no exception. Though the actual history in the movie is dubious at best, putting that aside and enjoying the movie is easy with Dench as the recently widowed queen. 

Gerard Butler As Leonidas - 300

Of all the movies in this movie that stretch the true stories to their max, 300 wins in that category. Still, Gerard Butler’s portrayal of Leonidas is a fan-favorite for good reason. Sure, it’s mostly because he looks so darn good, but the movie is fun, exciting, and completely unique, so we’ll allow for a little historical nonsense. 

Richard Harris As Marcus Aurelius - Gladiator

Another movie on this list that takes a lot of liberties with its historical accuracy, Gladiator basically changes everything about Marcus Aurelius (Richard Harris) and Commodus’ (Joaquin Phoenix) real-life father/son relationship. But both Phoenix and Harris are fantastic in their roles, so again, we’ll allow it. 

Peter O'Toole As Henry II - The Lion In Winter

The Lion in Winter has a few excellent portrayals of royalty. Katherine Hepburn as Eleanor of Aquitaine, Timothy Dalton as King Philip of France, and Anthony Hopkins as a young Richard The Lionhearted. Of course, the lead in the film, Peter O’Toole as Henry II is the lead for a reason. In a career filled with amazing performances, this is one of O’Toole’s best and resulted in one of his eight Best Actor nominations. 

Chris Pine As Robert The Bruce - Outlaw King

Robert The Bruce has been portrayed in a few films, probably most famously by Angus Macfadyen in Braveheart. While that performance is great, Outlaw King, with Chris Pine in the lead role, is a more historically accurate version of the story of Robert fighting the English and rising to King of the Scots. 

Audiences have always been fascinated by the lives of monarchs worldwide, and that is not likely to change anytime soon. We’ll continue to see great portrayals of royalty in entertainment for a long time to come. 

HBO's Game of Thrones ran for eight legendary seasons, airing 73 episodes in total. The sprawling epic included dozens of storylines and even more characters. According to IMDB, 843 different actors appeared on the show, including these 32 who appeared in the most episodes. 

There are some surprising characters that don't appear on this list, like Ramsey Bolton (Iwan Rheon), his father Roose Bolton (Michael McElhatton), Ollena Tyrell (Diane Rigg), and, of course, Ned Stark (Sean Bean), and Khal Drogo (Jason Momoa), who didn't live long enough to be on it.

Tyrion Lannister - 67 Episodes

Peter Dinklage's character, Tyrion Lannister, appears in more episodes than any other character on Game of Thrones. The cleverest member of the Lannister clan appeared in 67 of the 73 episodes. He's introduced in the very first episode and makes it all the way to the last one. 

Cersei Lannister - 62 Episodes

The villain we all loved to hate, Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) appeared in an amazing 62 episodes. For a character that was in the middle of all the palace intrigue, who made as many enemies as Cersei did, it's a wonder she made it as far as she did. Like her siblings, Cersei was introduced in the first episode of the show, and made it to the 72nd episode, when she was killed when the Red Keep collapsed on her and her brother Jaime. 

Daenerys Targaryen - 62 Episodes

Daenerys Targaryen's character arc from the meek sister of a pretender king to a strong leader to a bloodthirsty tyrant is one of the most controversial arcs in TV history. It all began in the first episode of the series and ended in the controversial final episode. Emilia Clarke's character was in a total of 62 episodes over that time. 

Jon Snow - 62 Episodes

The broody Jon Snow (Kit Harington), has one of the craziest storylines of the series, taking him from Winterfell to The Wall, to the Red Keep, and everywhere in between. Audiences met Jon in the first episode, along with the rest of the Starks, and he makes it all the way to the end. It might not have ended for Jon the way some people wanted, but at least he's alive at the show's conclusion. 

Sansa Stark - 59 Episodes

Another character with an insane story arc is Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner). It unfolds over 59 episodes, starting with the first and ending with the last. She goes from a sweet summer child in the beginning, to one of the toughest and coldest leaders in The North by the end. Sansa has a brutal life over the course of the series, but it leads to somewhere great. 

Arya Stark - 59 Episodes

Viewers first met the second youngest Stark child, Arya (Maisie Williams), in the first episode when King Robert came to visit Winterfell. Through 59 episodes over all eight seasons, Arya turns into one of the best assassins in Westeros after her travels take her from her home up north, to King's Landing, to Braavos, and back again, finally ending up at Winterfell for one of the biggest moments of the series, when she takes out the Night King. 

Jaime Lannister - 55 Episodes

It's no surprise that Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) is on this list, with 55 episodes. Jaime and his sister Cersei first appeared in the premiere, making quite a mark for the things he would do for love. He also has one of the least satisfying story arcs, after ditching Lady Brienne to return to his toxic relationship with his sister. The Kingslayer almost finds redemption before giving it all up for misguided love. 

Jorah Mormont - 52 Episodes

Ser Jorah Mormont (Iain Glen), Daenerys' faithful guard makes it 52 episodes in Game of Thrones. He appears by his queen's side in the first episode and through eight seasons of ups and downs, including a long banishment from Daenerys' Queens Guard. In the end, Jorah gets the noble death he deserves in the second episode of Season 8, defending the Mother of Dragons in the Battle of Winterfell against the White Walkers.

Samwell Tarly - 48 Episodes

Jon Snow's most loyal companion is Samwell Tarly (John Bradley). Jon meets Sam at Castle Black in the fourth episode of Season 1 and they remain the best of friends until the end. After a journey that takes him all over Westeros, Sam makes it to the end of the final episode. 

Theon Greyjoy - 47 Episodes

Possibly no one had a rougher time in Game of Thrones than Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen). That's not to say he didn't deserve some of the unspeakable things that happened to him, as he was pretty awful from the time we met in the first episode until he finally redeems himself in Season 8. Like so many others, Theon falls at the Battle of Winterfell after defending Bran for as long as he can. Theon made it a total of 47 episodes. 

Varys - 46 Episodes

Lord Varys, the Spider, played by Conleth Hill, is always lurking in the shadows. For 46 episodes of Game of Thrones, he is mixing things up behind the scenes. Audiences first meet the Master of Whisperers when Ned Stark attends his first small council meeting in Episode 3 of Season 1. Varys is still helping make decisions for the realm in the final episode of the series. 

Davos Seaworth - 42 Episodes

Ser Davos Seaworth (Liam Cunningham), the pirate-turned-knight is a fan favorite who first appeared in Episode 1 of Season 2 as an advisor to Stannis Baratheon. Though he comes from humble beginnings, he rises all the way to Master of Ships under King Bran in the final episode of the show. 

Brienne Of Tarth - 42 Episodes

One of the most noble people in all of Westeros is Brienne of Tarth, played by Gwendoline Christie. We don't meet Brienne until Episode 3 of Season 2, but from there, she becomes a key character in a number of different stories. She has one of the most satisfying conclusions when she is named Commander of the King's Guard in the final episode. 

Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish - 41 Episodes

Aidan Gillen's character, Petyr Baelish, better known by his nickname, Littlefinger, plays a massive role in the battle for the throne throughout the series. As Master of Coin, viewers first meet Littlefinger in Episode 3 of Season 1. Though he puts himself in danger a number of times with his conniving actions, he makes it 42 episodes, before dying at the hands of Arya in the Season 7 finale.   

Bran Stark - 40 Episodes

Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright) plays one of the most pivotal roles throughout the run of Game of Thrones. In a way, he is responsible for everything that happens after he is thrown from the window by Jaime at the end of the very first episode, and in the end, it's Bran that becomes King at the end of the series, which surprised most fans of the show.

Sandor "The Hound" Clegane - 38 Episodes

Rory McCann's portrayal of Sandor "The Hound" Clegane is one of the best on the show. He's funny, tough, scary, and sometimes, even kind. It's a hard line to walk for an actor and McCann does it brilliantly for 38 episodes, from the first in the series until the second-to-last episode when he dies with his brother, The Mountain. 

Missandei - 38 Episodes 

Daenerys Targaryen's righthand woman, Missandei (Nathalie Emmanuel), is one of the most loyal people on the show, serving Dany as both an advisor and a good friend. Fans first meet Missandei in the first episode of Season 3 and watch her through 38 episodes, until she is killed on Cersei's order in Episode 4 of Season 8.

Bronn - 37 Episodes

Jerome Flynn's Bronn is the ultimate survivor. While he's a sellsword when we first meet him, when he fights as Tyrion's champion for his trial by combat at the Eyrie in Episode 4 of Season 1, he ends up a high lord and Master of Coin by the end of the series after appearing in 37 episodes, right down to the final one. 

Podrick Payne - 35 Episodes

Podrick Payne (Daniel Portman) is a ladies' man, which is one of the funniest recurring jokes on Game of Thrones. He's also a loyal squire to Brienne until he is promoted to the Kingsguard in the final episode. The popular Podrick appears in 35 episodes in total, from Episode 2 of Season 2, until the end. 

Grey Worm - 34 Episodes

Grey Worm (Jacob Anderson) is the former slave, freed by Dany, and becomes Dany's most loyal soldier. He appears in a total of 34 episodes, starting in Season 3 and making it to the final episode and living to see another day. 

Eddison Tollett - 34 Episodes

Viewers first meet Eddison Tollett (Ben Crompton) in Episode 1 of Season 2 as a member of the Night's Watch. Always faithful to Jon Snow, Edd is a key member of the watch, though not a major character in the show. Still, he appears in 34 episodes, until his death at the Battle of Winterfell in Season 8.

Tormund Giantsbane - 33 Episodes

Everyone's favorite Wildling warrior, Tormund, played by Kristofer Hivju, appears in 33 episodes. We meet him later in the series, in Episode 1 of Season 3, but luckily for everyone, he makes it to the end, traveling with Jon Snow north of what's left of The Wall to live with the other Wildlings. 

Grand Maester Pycelle - 31 Episodes

Grand Maester Pycelle, played by the great Julian Glover, is a weaseling character, loyal to the Lannisters. That is, until he is betrayed by Cersei and her defrocked Maester, Qyburn. Still, he appears in 31 episodes from Season 1 until his death in Season 6. 

Melisandre - 29 Episodes

As despicable as Melisandre (Carice van Houten) is, it's remarkable that she survives until Season 8. Appearing in a total of 29 episodes, the Red Woman's allegiances change a couple of times, though nothing will ever excuse what she did to Stannis' daughter. 

Tywin Lannister - 27 Episodes

Charles Dance's performance as Tywin Lannister is one of the best in all of Game Of Thrones. Over 27 episodes from Season 1 through his death in the privy in Season 8, Tywin is a villain everyone loves to hate. 

Gilly - 27 Episodes

Gilly (Hannah Murray) is one of the most sympathetic characters in the brutal world of Games of Thrones. The former Wildling daughter/wife of Craster escapes with Sam and her son and they survive together until the very end of show. Gilly appears in 27 episodes from Season 2 through the finale. 

Margaery Tyrell - 26 Episodes

Margaery Tyrell, played by Natalie Dormer, is a polarizing character in Game of Thrones. She has a knack for playing the game well and married not one, but two kings throughout her 26-episode run between Seasons 1 and 6, but ultimately she is outplayed by Cersei when she is killed in the Sept of Baelor explosion. 

Joffrey Baratheon - 26 episodes

There is no question that Joffrey Baratheon (Jack Gleeson) is one of the greatest villains on Game of Thrones and in TV history. Almost from the moment audiences met him in the first episode, we hated him. That hatred only grew over the next 26 episodes that he appears in, until finally, we all get what we wanted when he is poisoned at his own wedding. 

Catelyn Stark - 25 episodes

Maybe the most tragic character on Game of Thrones is Stark matriarch Catelyn Stark (Michelle Fairley). She sees her husband die, her daughter held hostage, and her son Robb die. It's all too much for her take by the end of her 25-episode arc when she dies at the Red Wedding, after being introduced in the fist episode. 

Barristan Selmy - 25 episodes

Barristan Selmy (Ian McElhinney) is another close advisor to Dany. Though not as close to her as Jorah, he's still an important member of her Queen's Guard after his banishment from Joffrey's Kings Guard. His run lasted for 25 episodes until he is killed helping Grey Worm against the Sons of the Harpy.

Gregor "The Mountain" Clagane - 24 Episodes

Sandor Cleagane's brother, Gregor "The Mountain" Cleagane, is a knight of few words. Eventually, after his poisoning in a trial by combat, he's a man of no words. He's still one of the most fearsome knights in the realm. Three different actors played The Mountain throughout the 24 episodes he appeared in, Conan Stevens (Season 1) Ian Whyte (Season 2), and Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson (Seasons 4-8).

Gendry Baratheon - 24 Episodes

Although we meet the illegitimate son of King Robert, Gendry (Joe Dempsie) in Season 1, his character arc takes him in and out of the series, and despite appearing in seven of the eight seasons, he only shows up in 24 episodes. 

There are a handful of characters that just missed the cut here, like Ramsey Bolton, Robb Stark, and Stannis Baratheon, and a whole lot more fan favorites that are way down the list because they appeared in far fewer shows than you'd guess. But these are the characters that appeared the most. 

The brand new, revamped and rebooted DC Universe (DCU) has opened up endless possibilities. A new Superman has already been cast and is ready to take flight in the first movie in the new universe, which is replacing the old DC Extended Universe (DCEU). 

Producer James Gunn has shown he has a clear vision to wipe away most of the past and move forward with new actors and new stories, so for the purposes of this daydreaming, we're going to leave out the great actors who have appeared in DC-related films in the past, including the most recent movies starring the likes of Jason Momoa, Gal Gadot, and Ben Affleck, though we're not against them returning, too. 

Ryan Gosling

Ryan Gosling is one of the biggest stars in the world, and also one of the most versatile actors in Hollywood. He's the kind of actor you could cast in almost any role and you just know he'd hit it out of the park. He could play a hero or a villain and audiences would be transfixed no matter what. We probably want him as one of the most famous heroes though, someone befitting his star status. 

Daisy Ridley

We know she can carry a franchise, and we know she's a tough woman, so Daisy Ridley just has to find her way into the DCU. Of course, she'd have to be a hero, but who knows, maybe a change of pace from the Star Wars movies could be cool and she could play a villain. Either way, she has to have powers greater than The Force. 

Tom Cruise

It's time. It's hard to believe Tom Cruise has never been in a superhero movie. One of, in not the, biggest action stars of the last few decades still has that "hole" on his resume and it's time it got filled. Of course, we'd all love to see Cruise as a hero, but it would be awesome for him to be in any role, even a cameo like his turn in Tropic Thunder. Just get him in there, James Gunn! 

Jennifer Lawrence

Sure, Jennifer Lawrence appeared in the X-Men franchise, but that was years ago, and the comic book movie scene is a whole lot different today. Lawrence is a perfect fit for any number of roles, and even though she's great as Mystique, what about a hero as big as Wonder Woman or Black Canary? Surely she'd be fantastic. 

John Krasinski

John Krasinski delighted fans with his cameo as Dr. Reed Richards in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. MCU fans have been dying to see him as Mister Fantastic in the Fantastic 4 in the future, but so far, there's only been cold water thrown on the idea. That opens up the DCU for the former The Office star and he needs to step in. 

Zendaya

There isn't a bigger star on the scene right now than Zendaya. Sure, she's played MJ in the MCU and Spider-Man movies, but let's give her some real superpowers and let her run wild in the DCU. 

Jacob Elordi

Sure, Jacob Elordi says he's not interested in playing a superhero, having turned down an opportunity to read for Superman in the new DCU, but that doesn't mean we can't dream, right? There are so many heroes in the universe he could play. Elordi has been a hit in recent years with his role on HBO's Euphoria and movies like Saltburn and Pricilla, so he doesn't really need to be in the DCU, but we need him to be. 

Timothée Chalamet

Timothée Chalamet has a knack for picking great roles for himself. At this point, he can pick and choose anything he wants, given how often his movies are hits. Chalamet could probably just tell James Gunn what role he wanted and they'd find a way for it to happen. So let's do it! 

Meryl Streep

Let's be real, there is nothing Meryl Streep can't do. The greatest actor of her generation, bar none, and yet, she's never appeared in a superhero movie. She's flirted with the idea, according to some reports, and she even did the Wakanda salute at the 2024 Golden Globes, but alas, we still haven't seen her in one. The new DCU must have a spot for her, right?

Patina Miller

Patina Miller has won a Tony and she's starred in two hit shows (Madam Secretary and Power Book III: Raising Kanan), but she hasn't broken big on the big screen, aside from an important but too-brief role in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, and it's time that changed. She looks like a superhero and can act her socks off, so let's make it happen, let's make her a star in the DCU. 

Adam Driver

As Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequels, Adam Driver showed he could play a first-rate villain. Now it's time to see him play a hero. Any hero, pick one, it doesn't matter, he'd kill it. Batman? For sure. Superman? Well, that role is taken, but yes. Aquaman? Oh yes. Martian Manhunter? Check. Wonder Woman? Sure, why not, he's got the hair for it. Let's go! 

Mark Wahlberg

Mark Wahlberg may be aging gracefully and while he says he's ready to play grandpa roles, we think he'll never be too old for a spot in the DCU. Somehow he's never been in either the MCU or any of the DC-related properties, so the time is right. 

Cailee Spaeny

She may not jump off the page as a possible superhero, but don't forget that Cailee Spaeny starred in Pacific Rim Uprising and clearly has the chops to be in a big action flick. She's an up-and-coming superstar and jumping into the DCU now would be perfect timing. 

Alan Ritchson

Reacher's Alan Ritchson is over six feet tall and built like a monster truck, is there anyone in Hollywood more perfect to play an intimidating villain in a comic book movie? Sure, he could play a superhero, too, but being a villain would be an awesome departure from his character on Reacher and it would be a ton a fun. And again, just look at the guy! 

Sterling K. Brown

Sterling K. Brown had an all-too-brief role as T'Chala's traitorous brother N'Jobu in Black Panther and it's high time he gets a chance to sink his teeth into a bigger superhero role. How about John Stewart/Green Lantern in the DCU? Brown has even campaigned for the role, so really, it's a perfect opportunity to get him into the DC Universe, it needs to happen, so we're putting it out there into the universe again. 

Peter Dinklage

Peter Dinklage has dabbled in superhero movies in the past, playing the villain, Bolivar Trask, in X-Men: Days of Future Past, as Eitri in Avengers: Infinity War, and as the Toxic Avenger, but it leaves us all wanting more. Let's be honest here, anything Dinklage does is awesome, so getting him into the DCU somehow would be amazing. He's also pretty good at carrying a wildly popular franchise, as he proved with Game of Thrones.

Taraji P. Henson

Taraji P. Henson has done it all, except star in a comic book movie. Henson is one of the best actors of her generation and yet, she's got this hole in her resume that, let's be honest, we all want to see filled. The DCU would be a perfect place for her to land, in just about any role, superhero, villain, regular human... anything, just get her in there! 

Charlize Theron

Audiences were teased with a Charlize Theron character in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and the actress stars in the Old Guard franchise, but she's not appeared in any DC-related projects yet and she sure deserves to. We'd love to see her in any number of roles, as she can play just about anything. 

Jason Statham

He's one of the biggest action stars in the world, and yet Jason Statham hasn't appeared in the MCU or anything DC-related. This is something that must be remedied! How about Cliff Steele/Robotman, whose origin story comes out of a race car crash, which would dovetail perfectly with Statham's past work as star of The Transporter movies and in the Fast franchise?

Jodie Comer

Jodie Comer has been taking the world by storm over the last few years and that means it's time to find her way into the DCU. Comer could be great in the MCU, but the possibilities in the DCU are endless and for someone like her, on the rise in Hollywood, the sky's the limit. 

Don Cheadle

Don Cheadle is pretty entrenched in the MCU, where he's played James "Rhodey" Rhodes/War Machine 10 times in various movies and TV shows. Still, Cheadle is awesome, and there has to be a way to get him into the DCU, too. He'd need to play a completely different kind of character, like a villain, but we're for it. 

Jenna Ortega

Wednesday star Jenna Ortega is clearly ready for the big time. She'd be great as Aquagirl, or, even better, the villain Lourdes Lucero/Encantadora. There are a lot of options, let's hope she fits into one, because it would be great. 

Zoe Saldaña

Zoe Saldaña is another star that most fans immediately associate with The Guardians of the Galaxy and the MCU, but with the Guardians franchise possibly winding down, and the franchise's director, James Gunn, now in charge over at DC, this could be a good time to switch it up for Saldaña, as there are a lot of different heroes she would be great for. 

Josh Gad

Hear us out. Josh Gad may not be the first person you think of when you think of an action movie or a comic book movie, but some of the best casting decisions are sometimes the ones you least expect. Think Michael Keaton as Batman or even Robert Downey, Jr. as Iron Man. Gad, with his blend of humor and "everyman" qualities, can be pretty chameleon-like and that could make him perfect for the DCU. 

Gwendoline Christie

How has this happened? How have we gotten dozens of superhero movies in the last couple of decades and Gwendoline Christie hasn't been in any of them? Sure, she's got the physique to play any hero out there, but it's her wit and comedic timing combined with that that makes the Game of Thrones star a no-brainer. This seems too easy.

Naomie Harris

Naomie Harris jumped into the comic book world by playing Shriek in Venom: Let There Be Carnage. She was predictably great, so why not have her cast as a character with a multi-film arc? She should be. With the James Bond Universe in flux with the departure of Daniel Craig, this would be a great time for Harris to find a new franchise to get attached to. 

Daniel Kaluuya

Black Panther star Daniel Kaluuya (who also starred as a real-life Black Panther in Judas and the Black Messiah) is an actor who could fit into the DCU in just about any role. He could be a charming hero, or an evil villain, or even a government bureaucrat. Kaluuya's acting toolbox has a lot of options, the DCU will do well to take advantage of that somehow. 

Natalie Dormer

Natalie Dormer is a veteran of a lot of big-time franchises. Game of Thrones, Hunger Games, and even the MCU. Unfortunately, she was in fewer Game of Thrones episodes than you would think, and her appearances in the other two were also fairly brief. The DCU has a great opportunity to feature her in a much larger role. 

Donald Glover

This is another absolute no-brainer. Donald Glover is one of the most talented and charming actors in the business, there are an endless amount of roles he could fill in the DCU, so someone out there needs to find a spot for him. 

Diego Luna

With Andor (and his other projects) Diego Luna showed the world how great he can be in a franchise. His performance was gripping, and bringing that same energy to the DCU would be fantastic. 

Jack Quaid

Let's take a sec to lament that despite starring in one of the wildest superhero franchises of all time, The Boys, Jack Quaid hasn't really had an opportunity to be a proper superhero (V-24 notwithstanding). So let's give him a proper chance here! Put him in the DCU! 

Hayden Panettiere

Save the cheerleader, save the world. It was a mantra for Heroes and it's time to see Hayden Panettiere play another superhero. She was so great in Heroes, there's no way she wouldn't be great in the DCU

The DC Universe is James Gunn's oyster, these are some of the pearls out there just waiting to be plopped onto his beach. 

DC has had a wild few years in theaters, full of peaks and valleys. The DCEU as we know it is expected to end with Aquman 2, as new co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran are crafting a new shared universe. As such, fans are wondering which actors might play major heroes and villains in the new franchise. And some epic DC fan art has transformed Game of Thrones’ Natalie Dormer into Poison Ivy.

The 41 year-old starred as Margaery Tyrell (my personal favorite character) in Game of Thrones for years, with Dormer also playing a role in the final Hunger Games movies. Some fans want to see her return to genre work, specifically as the iconic Batman villain Poison Ivy. Fan art on Instagram showed what she might look like as that plant based metahuman, check it out below:

I mean, how cool is that? It looks like Natalie Dormer would really be able to pull off Poison Ivy’s look if she was cast in an upcoming DC movie. It’s unclear how that villain will be utilized in the new DC Universe, but hopefully Gunn and Safran will share more of their plans for the future. Fingers crossed that happens sooner rather than later.

That includes iconic characters from both DC and Marvel lore. And as fans wait for information regarding what’s coming next in the DCU, this type of fan art will likely become more common.

The first chapter of the new DC universe is titled Gods and Monsters, and will include a number of live-action and animated projects. Information is still fairly limited, but Batman lore is definitely going to be featured in The Brave and The Bold, which will focus on Batman and his son Damian Wayne/Robin. It’s unclear what villain they’ll be facing, so maybe Ivy will somehow factor into the action. Hopefully with Dormer playing the role. 

Of course, there are also plenty of DC fans who want to see Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn’s romance play out on the big screen. Margot Robbie previously expressed interest in telling the Harley/Ivy story, but it’s unclear if she’ll still be playing her signature role in the new DCU. For now that relationship is being explored in the Harley Quinn animated series. 

The next DC movie hitting theaters is Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom on December 20th. In the meantime, check out the 2023 movie release dates to plan your next movie experience. 

There are actors like Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and even Jermey Renner who will always be remembered for their roles in various Marvel movies, but there also actors who either appeared in early Marvel Cinematic Universe titles or showed up before they were big stars who tend to be forgotten. Take Ty Burrell, for example, who showed up as Betty Ross' boyfriend in 2008's The Incredible Hulk just one year before he became a major star on ABC's Modern Family. 

If Edward Norton's Hulk movie would have switched places with Iron Man 2, we all probably would remember Burrell in the same way we remember Terrence Howard in the first Iron Man solo film, but instead, his performance is often forgotten.

But Ty Burrell isn't alone. In fact, there have been more than a dozen (and counting) famous actors whose Marvel appearances aren't all that remembered, which is insane considering the names of some of these film and television stars. Actors like Kate Mara, Powers Boothe, and even Bill and Ted Face the Music's William Sadler have all shown up in Marvel movies over the past 12 years, so I thought it would be fun to explore some of the most notable bit roles, cameos, and other appearances up through Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Ty Burrell - The Incredible Hulk

When Ty Burrell showed up as Betty Ross' (Liv Tyler) boyfriend, Leonard Samson, in 2008's The Incredible Hulk, he was mostly known as the rich jerk from Zack Snyder's Dawn of the Dead remake and not the lovable Phil Dunphy on Modern Family. Burrell's character doesn't really do much outside of make Bruce Banner (Edward Norton) jealous and tip off Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross of Banner's return from exile. It's just a bummer we never got to see how the character would have been expanded if the second movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe got a sequel of its own.

Tim Blake Nelson - The Incredible Hulk

Tim Blake Nelson's transformation from cellular biologist Samuel Sterns to Leader near the end of The Incredible Hulk was one of the most exciting moments in the 2008 summer blockbuster, but just like Ty Burrell's Leonard Samson, the character was never seen again. Unlike Burrell, however, Nelson was already an established star at the time of his first and only Marvel appearance, having shown up in The Thin Red Line, Minority Report, and a little movie called O Brother, Where Art Thou?.

Peter Billingsley - Iron Man, Spider-Man: Far From Home

Remember Ralph Parker from the 1983 holiday classic A Christmas Story? Well, Peter Billingsley, the actor behind the role, is all grown up now and has appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe twice at this point. His first appearance can be seen in Iron Man as Stark Industries scientist William Ginter Riva who is on the receiving end of Obadiah Stain's (Jeff Bridges) epic "with a bunch of scraps" rant about Tony Stark, and then again as the same character in 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home amazing Mysterio reveal scene. Billingsley is a long-time collaborator of Jon Favreau, having appeared in and produced a number of the director's films, including Iron Man.

Kate Mara - Iron Man 2

You might think that Kate Mara's only appearance in a movie based on a Marvel Comics property came in 2015's Fantastic Four, but the star of the box office and critical failure showed up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe five years earlier in bit role as process server for the U.S. Marshals serving Tony Stark a subpoena to appear before the U.S. Senate in Iron Man 2. 

Mara had already appeared in the children's superhero comedy Zoom, We Are Marshall, and 24 by the time she was cast in Jon Favreau's second Iron Man movie, but she was still a few years out from finding success with American Horror Story: Murder House, House of Cards, and The Martian.

Natalie Dormer - Captain America: The First Avenger

Natalie Dormer is probably best known for her portrayal of Margaery Tyrell on HBO's Game of Thrones, but like just about every face in Hollywood, the British actress made a brief, yet important appearance in 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger as Private Lorraine. In the scene, Lorraine grabs Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and pulls him in for a kiss while he awaits the arrival of Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper) just as Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) walks by at just the wrong time. 

Natalie Dormer, still a year out from Game of Thrones, was already somewhat established at the time, having appeared as Anne Boleyn on The Tudors in the historical drama's first two seasons.

David Bradley - Captain America: The First Avenger

Natalie Dormer wasn't the only Game of Thrones star to appear in Captain America, as David Bradley, who shocked and disgusted fans of HBO's fantasy series as Walder Frey, showed up as the tower keeper in the opening moments of the 2011 Marvel movie. He's only in the film for a few minutes before he is gunned down by Red Skull (Hugo Weaving) after locating the tesseract. David Bradley had one hell of a 2011 with his final appearance as Argus Filch in the Harry Potter franchise, as well as roles in Game of Thrones, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Jenna Coleman - Captain America: The First Avenger

Jenna Coleman, best known for her portrayal of Clara Oswald on Doctor Who, also made a very brief appearance in Captain America: The First Avenger as Bucky's date, Connie, at the world expo in the film's first act. Even though she had appeared on shows like Emmerdale and Titanic when she was cast in a very small role in the first Captain America adventure, Coleman was still a year out from becoming one of the most well-loved companions on the British science-fiction program.

Harry Dean Stanton - The Avengers

The first Marvel Cinematic Universe crossover film The Avengers had one of the biggest casts at the time of its 2012 release. In addition to the likes of Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, and Scarlett Johansson, Joss Whedon's epic also featured some great cameos, including one by Harry Dean Stanton. The late character actor is seen in a brief interaction with Bruce Banner (Ruffalo) following the big blowup abroad the Helicarrier. And although short, it's great to see the actor best known for roles in Paris, Texas, Alien, and Escape from New York show up for some comedic relief.

Ashley Johnson - The Avengers

Ashley Johnson shows up briefly at the very end of The Avengers when her character, Beth, is being interviewed about the battle of New York. At first it may seem weird that the the actress who appeared in The Help, What Women Want, and who would later become the voice of Ellie in The Last of Us, would have such a small part, but Johnson's role was trimmed down and most of her scenes ended up being cut from the final draft. This includes her conversation with Steve Rogers, which explains her specially naming Captain America during the interview.

William Sadler - Iron Man 3

William Sadler, who has appeared in everything from The Shawshank Redemption to the Bill & Ted franchise, showed up on more than one occasion in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His first appearance came in 2013's Iron Man 3, where he is seen playing President Matthew Ellis during the action-packed kidnapping scene aboard Air Force One. Sadler would reprise the role in a few episodes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Chris O'Dowd - Thor: The Dark World

Don't feel bad if you forgot that Chris O'Dowd was in 2013's Thor: The Dark World because the British funny man known for his roles from The IT Crowd, Get Shorty, and Bridesmaids even forgot he was in the movie until a 2019 interview with MTV News. O'Dowd showed up briefly as Jane Foster's date, Richard, in the early goings of the second Thor adventure, but I guess not enough for anyone to remember, the actor included.

Sam Neill - Thor: Ragnarok

The great dramatic retelling of "Loki's sacrifice" in the beginning of Thor: Ragnarok is probably best remembered for the performance by Matt Damon as the over-the-top actor portraying the God of Mischief, but acting great Sam Neill is also in there as an Asgardian actor taking on the role of Odin during the play. Neill, who is best known for his portrayal of Alan Grant in Jurassic Park (and the upcoming Jurassic World: Dominion), previously worked with Ragnarok director Taika Waititi's Hunt for the Wilderpeople, which explains his brief cameo here.

Those aren't even all of the great actors who have made appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe over the past 12 years. With the Marvel One-Shots featuring the likes of Lizzy Caplan, Bradley Whitford, and Scoot McNairy, to name a few, as well as cameos from people like Garret Morris in Ant-Man, there are just too many to count. The DC Extended Universe has greatly expanded over the past few years, and Warner Bros. is showing no signs of slowing down. Gotham City continues to grow with projects like Birds of Prey and The Batman, but there are plenty of beloved characters that have yet to be brought into play. Chief among them is iconic rogue Poison Ivy. And a piece of fan art imagined what Game of Thrones alum Natalie Dormer might look like in the role.

Natalie Dormer became a household name thanks to her tenure in Game of Thrones playing the cunning Margaery Tyrell. While she's since gone on to projects like Penny Dreadful: City of Angels, some fans are hoping that the young queen of thorns might be playing the plant-based villain Poison Ivy. Now we can see what she might look like in the DCEU, and the results are delightful. Check it out below.

I mean, how cool is that? Natalie Dormer looks pretty damn perfect as Poison Ivy, and that's only a piece of fan art. I can't imagine how much more she could transform into the femme fatale with studio resources like costuming, makeup, and visual effects.

Her eyes are glowing green, and there's some leaves in the character's hair. And she looks like she could fit right into the Gotham City that's currently occupying the big screen.

It seem inevitable that Poison Ivy should make her way back onto the big screen, but there's no telling exactly when. Some fans are hoping that she'll pop up in a Birds of Prey sequel, uniting the comic book character with her friend/love interest Harley Quinn. But Matt Reeves' The Batman universe is set outside of the greater DCEU, which would offer the chance for a more gritty version of the character. Either of these possibilities seem like a great opportunity for Poison Ivy to get a live-action movie adaptation. Obviously Robert Pattinson's Bruce Wayne will have his hands full with a trio of villains in The Batman, but perhaps Ivy could appear in a sequel. Then again, her powers would be far more over the top than the pulled back look of Matt Reeves' blockbuster.

If Natalie Dormer lands the role as Poison Ivy, she won't be the first person to play the iconic villain in live-action. She was famously played by Uma Thurman in Joel Schumacher's campy classic Batman & Robin. Additionally, a trio of actress played the character throughout Gotham's run on television. The pressure would be on, but Dormer's genre work would seemingly lend itself well to this type of role.

But what about other major players from the hit HBO series? When will people like Emilia Clarke and Natalie Dormer follow suit and wind up portraying a superhero of their own?

While we don't know when or even if other Game Of Thrones stars will jump over to the superhero business, it never hurts to play around with the idea of some of the biggest fan favorites donning a mask and cape in order to fight crime in DC, Marvel and beyond. So while I have your attention, let's take a look at a few superheroes that the cast of George R.R. Martin's fantasy epic would be perfect to play.

Emilia Clarke - Spider-Woman

After Daenerys Targaryen went from one of everyone's favorite characters to one of the most despised in a matter of episodes during Game Of Thrones Season 8, Emilia Clarke could use a rebound back into the fan favorite-category. And what better way than casting her as Spider-Woman, specifically Gwen Stacy. Aside from the fact that Clarke's character had a head of blonde hair throughout the series (like Gwen Stacy in the comics and various adaptations), the actress also has the perfect balance of authority and innocence, which could come in handy with the various plots if Spider-Woman is introduced in an upcoming Spider-Man movie.

Natalie Dormer - Sue Storm

Despite the fact that Natalie Dormer has already appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (a minor role in Captain America: The First Avenger), the former Game Of Thrones and current Penny Dreadful: City Of Angels star could do a remarkable job at handling Sue Storm, a.k.a. The Invisible Woman of The Fantastic Four fame. Through her appearances as Margaery Tyrell and Magda, Dormer has proved time and time again that she is able to effectively channel both compassion and anger, two qualities that could bring another dynamic to one of the most decorated and respected characters in Marvel Comics.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau - Darkman

Sam Raimi's 1990 cult classic Darkman centers around a scientist-turned-masked vigilante who develops superhuman abilities following a vicious attack by the mob and a failed treatment. This would be a perfect role for Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, especially after his turn as Jaime Lannister on Game Of Thrones. Turning villain to hero as the show went on, Coster-Waldau is well-equipped to handle the bruised, battered and emotionally distraught Darkman if a remake or sequel were ever produced. And as we've seen in his multiple combat scenes over the course of the show's eight seasons, the Danish actor is more than up to task of fighting crime in the dark of night.

Nathalie Emmanuel - Batwoman

With the shocking departure of Ruby Rose as Batwoman in the CW series, the role is up for grabs. If the showrunners are looking for a qualified and fun candidate to don the cape and cowl, Nathalie Emmanuel could be the perfect person for the role. Up until the emotionally-charged death of her character Missandei halfway through Game Of Thrones Season 8, Emmanuel was one of the best parts of the series. Quiet, methodical and fearless in her performance, Emmanuel has everything that is needed to pull off one of DC's most notable recent characters. And if you have any questions about Emmanuel's ability to handle herself in a large and demanding role, just look at her work in the Fast & Furious franchise.

Gwendoline Christie - She-Hulk

When she joined the Game Of Thrones cast in Season 2 as Brienne of Tarth, Gwendoline Christie quickly became one of the best written and acted characters on the HBO series. Since then, she's shown up in everything from The Hunger Games to Star Wars, giving the English actress plenty of time to pull off a number of different roles. Looking at her track record of portraying physically demanding characters in a number of properties, Christie would be perfect for the role of She-Hulk. With a combination of strength and dynamic emotions, the veteran of stage, television and film would add dimension to the character.

Kristofer Hivju - The Thing

Speaking of characters with imposing size, strength and wit, there is no one from the Game Of Thrones better cast to portray Ben Grimm, a.k.a. The Thing, than Kristofer Hivju. Sure, there are larger actors from the series, but I don't think anyone could pull off the anger, pain and humor of the Fantastic Four's rocky enforcer. Just try imagining Tormund Giantsbane yelling out "It's Clobberin' Time" before running into a fight. An actor of Hivju's ability would be able to emote the sorry and frustration of not being able to have loving relationships after being trapped in his mutated form. The range of emotions and ridiculous strength would make this ideal casting at its best.

Joe Dempsie - Nightwing

In the early seasons Game Of Thrones, Joe Dempsie portrayed Gendry, the bastard son of the fallen King Robert Baratheon who later earned his house name after helping defeat the White Walkers at the Battle of Winterfell in Season 8. After being able to faithfully pull of the role of a blacksmith, fighter and leader throughout the series, Dempsie would be perfect to take on the role of Dick Grayson, a.k.a. Nightwing in a future DC film. I mean, he even looks like the modern versions of the Batman's former protege-turned-ally.

Isaac Hempstead Wright - Jimmy Olsen

And last, but certainly not least, there's Isaac Hemstead Wright, who played Bran Stark for all but one season on Game Of Thrones. From the adventurous youngest Stark child to the Lord of the Six Kingdoms, audiences practically watched Hempstead Wright grow up in front of their very eyes. And despite the character growing into a young adult, Hempstead Wright never lost that sense of innocence and youth, which would make him an ideal candidate to portray Jimmy Olsen. Over the course of the character's history, Olsen has often become a vessel for other superheroes, which is quite similar to the powers possessed by Bran in Game Of Thrones. And while it would be hard to fit that into a new Superman movie, it could work.

Over the course of four years, The Hunger Games series went from another YA adaptation hoping to win over the masses to one of the biggest movie franchises of the past decade. Based on the dystopian novels by Suzanne Collins, the movies were led by Jennifer Lawrence, an actress who went from a rising young talent to one of the biggest stars in the world over the course of the popular series. Now that the blockbuster franchise has concluded, The Hunger Games cast has moved on to different projects. Some of these stars have gained incredible fame or continued their ascension, while a few others remain busy with other, smaller projects. Let's take a look at the The Hunger Games cast members and see what they're doing now.

Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss Everdeen)

In the central role of Katniss Everdeen, Jennifer Lawrence served as the central protagonist of The Hunger Games franchise. From the time the series started until its final fourth film, Lawrence went from rising Oscar-nominated young actress to arguably one of the biggest movie stars of her time (and possibly even the biggest), particularly when she won an Oscar for Best Actress with Silver Linings Playbook. 

Since Mockingjay - Part 2, Lawrence has appeared in a few others movies, including Joy, mother!, Red Sparrow, Passengers, X-Men: Apocalypse and, most recently, X-Men: Dark Phoenix. She took a year off from acting to focus on other ambitions, though she has a few new projects in the works, including an untitled new drama from director Lila Neugebauer, Mob Girl, Don't Look Up from director Adam McKay, and the biopic Bad Blood, based on the controversial figure, Elizabeth Holmes.

Josh Hutcherson (Peeta Mellark)

In the role of Peeta Mellark, Josh Hutcherson served as one of the central characters in The Hunger Games, particularly when he became a potential love interest for Katniss Everdeen. A former child actor who has been working on the screen for the majority of his life, Hutcherson has appeared in a few other projects since The Hunger Games concluded. Notably, Hutcherson has appeared in The Disaster Artist and Tragedy Girls, and he plays the lead role in the Hulu sci-fi comedy series, Future Man. Up next, Hutcherson will star in the new movie Rita.

Liam Hemsworth (Gale Hawthrone)

As Gale Hawthorne, Katniss' childhood best friend and one of her main love interests, Liam Hemsworth plays a key role in The Hunger Games series. Since the franchise concluded, Hemsworth has been seen in Independence Day: Resurgence, Isn't It Romantic, and, most recently, Killerman. Up next, Hemsworth stars in the indie dark comedy, Arkansas, and he'll play one of the lead roles in the forthcoming Quibi thriller series Most Dangerous Game.

Woody Harrelson (Haymitch Abernathy)

As Haymitch Abernathy, Woody Harrelson played a mentor figure throughout The Hunger Games saga. As a versatile actor with commendable range, Harrelson has appeared in many movies since The Hunger Games wrapped, including Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, War For the Planet of the Apes, Solo: A Star Wars Story, and Zombieland: Double Tap. Additionally, Harrelson made his screenwriting and directorial debut in 2017's Lost in London, an autobiographical comedy that was shot live in real-time. His next role is playing Carnage in Venom 2. He is also soon set to be seen in Kate and Triangle of Sadness, and he was cast in the limited series The Most Wanted Man in America.

Elizabeth Banks (Effie Trinket)

In the role of Effie Trinket, Elizabeth Banks served as an advisory character throughout The Hunger Games saga. Since finishing her commitments to the franchise, Banks has appeared in film and television alike, and she has expanded herself into roles behind-the-camera as well. In 2015, she made her feature directorial debut with Pitch Perfect 2. Last year, she wrote and directed the newest Charlie's Angels reboot. Up next, Banks appears in the new Hulu mini-series, Mrs. America. She's also attached to the drama Signal Hill, and has a few directorial projects in store, including Invisible Woman.

Donald Sutherland (President Coriolanus Snow)

As the menacing President Coriolanus Snow, Donald Sutherland played a menacing part in The Hunger Games series. Outside of this villainous role, he has worked consistently in film and on television. His most recent roles include Ad Astra and The Burnt Orange Heresy. He'll next be seen in the thriller Alone, and he's got two TV roles lined up with HBO's The Undoing and Swimming with Sharks, which is based on the 1994 movie of the same name.

Stanley Tucci (Caesar Flickerman)

As Ceaser Flickerman, Stanley Tucci served as a colorful supporting character throughout The Hunger Games saga. A refined, Oscar-nominated actor with years of experience on the stage and screen, Tucci is a dynamite actor, and he continues to excel. Most recently, he was seen in Limetown. He'll next be seen in Worth, opposite Michael Keaton, and he'll appear in The King's Man, The Witches, Jolt, Supernova, and a few more upcoming projects.

Willow Shields (Primose Everdeen)

As Primose Everdeen, the younger sister of Katniss, Willow Shields played a key role throughout The Hunger Games series. Making her feature debut in the original film, Shields continues to work primarily on the small screen, notably with roles in The Unsettling and Netflix's Spinning Out. She'll next be seen in two upcoming movies, When Time Got Louder and A Fall From Grace, both of which are expected to come out sometime within the next year.

Paula Malcomson (Mrs. Everdeen)

As the concerned mother of Katniss, Paula Malcomson played an emotional role in The Hunger Games franchise, particularly in the early installments. Also known as Paula Williams, the actress has bounced between film and television since The Hunger Games, though her television roles are notable, including Ray Donovan, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and Krypton. She was last seen in Deadwood: The Movie and HBO's Watchmen last year.

Lenny Kravitz (Cinna)

As Cinna, Katniss' stylist, Lenny Kravitz's character played a major role in the rise to prominence seen by our central protagonist. Primarily a musician, Kravitz hasn't appeared in too many projects as an actor since The Hunger Games outside of brief appearances in FX's Better Things and Fox's Star. As a musician, Kravitz continues to perform, particularly when he appeared during the Super Bowl halftime show in 2015 alongside Katy Perry. More recently, Kravitz released his 11th studio album, Raise Vibrations, and toured the album in 2018. In an interview with Rolling Stone that year, Kravitz mentioned that he was already working on his follow-up to this studio album, and that it might serve as a companion piece to a future film project.

Sam Claflin (Finnick Odair)

As Finnick Odair, Sam Claflin was seen prominently throughout The Hunger Games sequels, notably Catching Fire. Since his time in the franchise, the young actor has split his time on the big and small screen, appearing The Huntsman: Winter's War, Me Before You, Adrift, Peaky Blinders, Charlie's Angels, and a particularly menacing role in The Nightingale, most recently. Up next is the comedy Love. Wedding, Repeat., the drama-mystery Enola Holmes, the thriller Every Breath You Take, and the musical mini-series Daisy Jones & The Six.

Jena Malone (Johanna Mason)

As the victor of the 71st Hunger Games and the only living member of her district, Johanna Mason, played by Jena Malone, had a memorable part in The Hunger Games saga. Since her time in The Hunger Games sequels, Malone has appeared in movies both big and small. Most recently, the actress appeared in the Amazon mini-series Too Old To Die Young. She'll next be seen in the David Bowie biopic, Stardust, as well as Lorelei and Antebellum.

Jeffrey Wright (Beetee)

In the role of Beetee, Jeffrey Wright was seen prominently throughout The Hunger Games sequels. An acclaimed actor of the stage and screen, Wright has appeared in numerous productions over the course of his career. Most notably, Wright can be seen on HBO's Westworld, which is currently airing its third season. But he's also set to appear in Wes Anderson's The French Dispatch, the new Bond blockbuster No Time to Die, and the drama All Day and a Night soon. He is also playing James Gordon in the forthcoming The Batman.

Stef Dawson (Annie Cresta)

As Annie Creta, Stef Dawson played a key role in The Hunger Games sequels as Annie. Since her time in these gigantic blockbusters, Dawson has opted to make primarily indie movies, though her latest film was the sci-fi thriller The Dustwalker, which was released last year. She'll next appear in the crime drama thriller, 10-13.

Julianne Moore (President Alma Coin)

Though she was only seen in the last two installments, Julianne Moore played a key part in the Hunger Games' final moments. Since her time in the YA blockbusters, Moore has been seen in movies big and small, and she has a few dramatic projects in the works. She'll later be seen as Gloria Steinem in The Glorias, and she is also soon set to appear in The Woman in the Window. She's also set to star in Mothertrucker, Fruitcake, and the Apple limited series, Lisey's Story, based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King.

Natalie Dormer (Cressida)

Introduced in the final two installments of The Hunger Games series, Natalie Dormer's Cressida was a distinctive figure towards the end of the saga. Outside of The Hunger Games, Dormer has been seen or heard in several prominent TV shows lately, including Game of Thrones, Picnic at Hanging Rock, and The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. Up next, Dormer will play a major part in the upcoming spin-off series, Penny Dreadful: City of Angels.

Wes Bentley (Seneca Crane)

As the Head Gamemaker in the 74th Hunger Games, Seneca Crane, played by Wes Bentley, served as a small-but-distinctive person in The Hunger Games (notably for his extravagantly strange facial hair). Since his time in the franchise starter, he has been seen in a number of prominent movies and TV shows, including Interstellar, Mission: Impossible — Fallout, and American Horror Story: Roanoke. Bentley can currently be seen on Yellowstone.

Mahershala Ali (Boggs)

Shortly before he became a multi-award winning actor, Mahershala Ali played Boggs, a key role in the final two Hunger Games movies. Since then, Ali has won two Oscars for Best Supporting Actor in 2016's Moonlight and 2018's Green Book, respectively. Most recently, Ali appeared in Alita: Battle Angel and the third season of HBO's True Detective. He's got several exciting projects lined up; one of the biggest will be playing Blade in the MCU.

Production on The Witcher Season 2 is currently underway, and the folks over at Netflix recently confirmed several new cast members that have joined the popular series’ sophomore season. One of the newest cast members to join is Game of Thrones’ Kristofer Hivju as Nivellen, seemingly solidifying the connection between the oft-compared fantasy shows. But, wait, did The Witcher just add another Game of Thrones star for Season 2? Maybe.

Rumor has it that Natalie Dormer may have already joined The Witcher’s Season 2. The actress, who played the ill-fated Margaery Tyrell on Game of Thrones, was reportedly spotted riding a horse in Surrey, England, near the area where the Netflix series was filming a couple of weeks ago. The Witcher’s casting director (via Redanian Intelligence) also seemed to imply that Dormer is involved in Season 2 of the series. In an Instagram story, she posted an image of the actress on a horse, with the following message:

With all that said, it’s best to keep in mind that Natalie Dormer's involvement has not been confirmed by anyone at Netflix, The Witcher’s showrunner, or even by Dormer herself. At this point, it’s pure speculation based on very limited information. And while it's not the craziest rumor, it's still just that.

If the rumor of Dormer’s involvement does turn out to be true, though, she would be joining fellow Game of Thrones alum Kristofer Hivju, who played Jon Snow’s ally Tormund Giantsbane. Speculatively speaking, Dormer could presumably play the source material's Vanessa-Marie, who’s reportedly set to appear in three or four episodes of Season 2. The character is described as a demon who scours the Continent, preying on people’s desires.

While fans should take this rumor with a grain of salt, I do find it odd that the actress would be riding horses so close to The Witcher’s filming location, and alongside the casting director no less, if she isn't involved in any capacity. However, it’s always possible she was simply there as a friend and/or a fan, and not for work.

I’d personally love to see Natalie Dormer appear in Season 2 of The Witcher. She’s a great actress who would fit right into the fantasy world. In the meantime, fans can always watch the Honest Trailer for The Witcher for some laughs while we wait for more information.

The Witcher Season 1 is currently streaming on Netflix. Season 2 is on the way and is scheduled to premiere at some point in 2021. Luckily, Netflix has a cool plan to keep fans engaged with The Witcher in between seasons, which includes an anime film set in the world of the TV show. The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf will introduce audiences to Vesemir, who will be portrayed in live-action by Killing Eve’s Kim Bodnia in Season 2.

Netflix's Dark Crystal television series just kicked things into high-gear with the announcement of an all-star vocal cast. Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance will tell an epic new story that takes place years before the events of the 1982 film.

The prequel series will return viewers to the world Thra by way of an all-new adventure. That adventure will involve three Gelflings who discover the "horrifying secret" behind the power of the Skeksis. They will then set out on an "epic journey" to ignite a rebellion and in turn, "save their world."

Along for the ride in telling that story are some of entertainment's brightest stars. From Game of Thrones to Outlander, television's titans will be joined by major movie stars.

Giving voice to the three main characters are Kingsman's Taron Egerton as Rian, The Witch's Anya Taylor-Joy as Brea, and Game of Thrones' Nathalie Emmanuel as Deet. Quite a dream trio.

Other actors giving voice to Gelfling characters are Outlander's Caitriona Balfe, The Crown's Helena Bonham-Carter, and Trust's Harris Dickinson. No details about their characters have been given, other than they are playing Gelflings.

Joining Nathalie Emmanuel from the Game of Thrones cast is series alum Natalie Dormer. She will voice a Gelfling character along with Hannibal's Eddie Izzard and Star Trek: Discovery's Shazad Latif.

The Gelfing characters will have no shortage of talented actors giving them a voice. The Divergent franchise and Castlevania voice actor Theo James will star alongside Sherlock's Toby Jones. Also starring will be Cloverfield Paradox's Gugu Mbatha-Raw. The actress is no stranger to Netflix shows. Mbatha-Raw previously starred in a highly-acclaimed episode of the streamer's anthology, Black Mirror.

Taron Egerton's Kingsman co-star Mark Strong will join Egerton in voicing a Gelfling in Dark Crystal. Rounding out the cast of Gelflings is the star of the Tomb Raider reboot, Alicia Vikander. Heading up the listed cast of Skeksis and Mystics is The Good Wife's Harvey Fierstein.

Harvey Fierstein will be joined by Star Wars legend and Knightfall Season 2 star Mark Hamill. The OA and Star Trek: Discovery's Jason Isaacs and Game of Thrones' Ralph Ineson will also lend their voices to the Dark Crystal series.

It is possible; Simon Pegg of the Mission: Impossible and Star Trek film franchise will voice one of the Skeksis and Mystics. Joining him will be Brooklyn Nine-Nine's Andy Samberg.

Friends from College and Key and Peele star Keegan-Michael Key and Trapped's Ólafur Darri Ólafsson will also voice characters. Details other than their playing Skeksis and Mystics is not known.

With a cast as epic as the one Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance has put together, it can only be an epic series. Netflix did not reveal an exact release date for the series. It will premiere at some point in 2019. Many shows have premiered on the streaming giant this fall and will continue to in the new year.

George Clooney is pulling double duty while promoting and slaying dragons. The superstar actor takes center stage in a new ad, and he is joined by a familiar face that fans of Game of Thrones will recognize. Spot them in the video below:

Yes, that is Natalie Dormer, who brought Margaery Tyrell to magnificent life on the HBO series. While Daenerys Targaryen would take issue with the handy work of George Clooney's knight, Dormer's queen does not. In fact, she wants to reward him. The thing is, he wants some coffee. Margaery never had to deal with this. Nespresso clearly knows what pop culture needs: a Game of Thrones-inspired ad that features one of the series' stars sharing the screen with Clooney.

Game of Thrones is a phenomenon, and ads that conjure the series tend to do their magic. Truth be told, if I am fast-forwarding through commercials and spot something Thrones-related, I rewind back. This ad will certainly make you do a double take, especially the opening shot. Considering the angle and the costume, it is easy to mistake George Clooney's knight with The Mountain.

As for the costuming, it is arguably a bit more Tudors than Game of Thrones. Having a dragon, a knight, and an impressive throne room is all Game of Thrones though. Interestingly, Natalie Dormer starred in both costume dramas.

The throne that Natalie Dormer's queen sits on looks a lot more comfortable than the Iron Throne. Regardless, it is nice to see her on it. As fans will recall, poor Margaery lost the "game of thrones." It is also cool to behold Dormer back inhabiting medieval times. That reminds me! Someone, please get Dormer back on a long-running costume drama, stat! As for George Clooney, he makes an impressive knight.

Costume dramas are the one genre he has not abundantly focused on in his career. That is if, he wants to handle the knight-gear. As we know from Game of Thrones' Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, it is not the most comfortable attire. The actor has shared that it is something he is not going to miss about doing the show.

Maybe George Clooney has a different take. Could we be seeing him slaying more dragons in the future? It would not be a bad idea. In the meantime, we have this impressive Game of Thrones-style ad to enjoy. The production values are beyond impressive.

Seeing this ad has another effect on yours truly's Game of Thrones-excited mind. It makes one very anxious to get another glimpse at footage from the show's final season. Natalie Dormer's new movie In Darkness came out in the U.S. way back in May. However, it didn't hit the U.K. until this weekend, leading to renewed interest in a sex scene in the film that has been described in erotic terms, as well as point blank called "gratuitous nudity." Now In Darkness' star has revealed that's not the way she sees the sex scenes at all. Dormer defended the use of nudity in the film, noting,

The nudity in In Darkness crops up numerous times, as Natalie Dormer's character Sofia, a blind woman, goes topless in several scenes in addition to an aggressive sex scene in a shower in which the sex is juxtaposed with shots of a dead young woman. It's that woman, played by Emily Ratajkowski, that the mystery and thriller component in the film revolves around.

Natalie Dormer has been naked in TV and film projects before, and seems pretty comfortable going topless, having done so most notably in pay cable productions like The Tudors and Game of Thrones, the latter a show that has gotten tens of millions of eyeballs. Her character even has a relationship with a much younger character on the HBO show, which also inspired some level of talk in the tabloids. Still, Dormer has previously spoken out about feeling that the sex scenes in the HBO drama also worked because those scenes were "quite real and dirty as well." So, she seems to believe nude scenes are valuable in the right context.

In her comments to The Guardian, the actress also revealed her thoughts on using nudity in art, like movies, saying that people will see things that were not intended.

Natalie Dormer actually co-wrote In Darkness with Anthony Byrne, so in terms of the character's intentions, she should have a good grasp of what was wanted with the script, as well as the overall tone of the movie. As she sees it, the scene works in multiple ways to allow us to see that Sofia is not simply a blind music teacher and to also show how nudity joins her character with Ed Skrein's. If that's something you'd like to see, In Darkness can be rented in the States right now, or seen in theaters elsewhere.

Natalie Dormer has starred in The Tudors and Game of Thrones, so a role where she portrays a traditional monarch is no sweat for her. Fans will soon get to see if portraying acting royalty will be a breeze for Dormer as well, as she's officially attached to a new series to play legendary actress Vivien Leigh. Dormer will step into the shoes of the Gone With The Wind actress during some of the most iconic roles of her career in a new television series that sounds like it could be a big hit.

The Vivien Leigh series doesn't have a name or episode count at the present, but some details about the show's concept and plot have already been revealed. Deadline reports each episode of the upcoming series will feature Dormer as Leigh during a specific role in her career. That means there may be an episode centered around Gone With The Wind, A Streetcar Named Desire, and/or any of the other films Leigh was a part of during her career. The series will also focus on Leigh's life as an actress in the early years of Hollywood, her mental health, fame, and her 20-year marriage to famous actor Laurence Olivier. Given the latter subject the series will focus on, it wouldn't be all that surprising if one of the episodes featured Leigh on the sets of Fire Over England and That Hamilton Woman, both of which she starred in alongside Olivier.

The Natalie Dormer led series is being written by Stewart Harcourt whose past works include the Michael Gambon led Churchill's Secret and the short-lived television series Jericho. The series will draw inspiration from the various archival footage and films the actress has made, and will also take some bits from the 2013 biography of the actress written by Kendra Bean. The show is being developed and produced by FremantleMedia and Mainstreet Pictures, and there are confirmed plans for the series to be released internationally.

Natalie Dormer and audiences will both have quite a time diving into the life of Vivien Leigh, as the two-time Oscar-winning British actress certainly had her share of success and struggles in Hollywood. Leigh's difficult and sometimes erratic behavior was believed to be linked to her suffering from bipolar disorder, which was not as greatly understood during her career as it is now. Dormer will have quite a task recreating the award-winning performances of Leigh as well as what was happening behind the scenes at the same time, although given her past work in Hollywood few should have any doubt that she's capable of pulling it off.

For fans of the CBS series Elementary, there is some good and bad news about the upcoming Season 6. The good news is that it's finally almost here, but the bad news is that due to scheduling conflicts, actress Natalie Dormer was not able to return as Moriarty. While fans will undoubtedly be disappointed by the news, there is a silver lining of sorts. While Moriarty may be physically absent, she will still maintain a presence in Season 6. Elementary executive producer Rob Doherty explained, saying:

The premiere of Season 6 is almost here, so you will not have to wait much longer to see how the story will play out, both with and without Moriarty around. Fans were left with a huge cliffhanger when Season 5 capped things off way back in May of last year, as Sherlock faced the potentially fatal diagnosis that something is wrong with his brain. Fans have had to wait almost a year to learn the answer to Sherlock's health mystery, and because there are chances that Season 6 could be the final year for CBS' mystery drama, fans were hoping more than ever that Natalie Dormer would finally return after having been absent for the past few seasons.

As fans are well aware, Sherlock and Moriarty shared more than just antagonistic feelings for one another, and the two have presumably kept up communication while she's been in prison, where she presumably still is. She last appeared via voiceover in Season 3, and hasn't been seen in physical form since Season 2. Getting her back for at least one episode would have been enough, but alas, Natalie Dormer was too busy to fit an appearance in her schedule. She's currently got the upcoming Amazon series adaptation of Picnic at Hanging Rock, as well as the features The Professor and the Madman, Patient Zero, and In Darkness. Perhaps if there's a Season 7, that reconnection can happen in full.

The title of the Season 6 premiere does not bode well for Sherlock's health, though, so he may not even survive to a seventh season. Episode 1 is ominously entitled "An Infinite Capacity for Taking Pains," and the way Elementary's executive producer put it to TV Line, Sherlock's pains may be both of the physical and emotional variety. Struggling with an illness is already no fun, and he'll be keeping his condition a secret from Lucy Liu's Joan, which will impact his relationship with her. So to now have him reflecting back on his times with Moriarty is to keep him in the mental pits. The pair's relationship is complicated. He once referred to her as the love of his life despite the realization she is a criminal, which might very well be less curable than his physical woes, which still remain a mystery to viewers, too.

We do know that Dexter's Desmond Harrington will star in the sixth season, even if Moriarty doesn't, and thankfully for Sherlock and Joan, Harrington will not be playing a villain. Or at least, it does not seem like he will. Harrington will play Michael on Elementary. Back in the day, Sherlock inspired Michael, who is also a recovering drug addict. In Season 6, Michael will meet Sherlock and attempt to support him through his difficulties. The sleuth will need all the support he can get, given his relationship with Joan sounds like it may be hitting a rough patch.

Talk about a departure from Margaery Tyrell! In Picnic at Hanging Rock, Natalie Dormer isn't so much a glamorous queen as she is a stern teacher. She stars as Mrs. Hester Appleyard, who is the headmistress of the Appleyard College boarding school for young women. The school is isolated in the Australian bushland, and mystery surrounds its headmistress. Judging by the trailer, Mrs. Hester Appleyard is none too pleased when three of her young charges go missing, presumably while on a school picnic.

The early description of Picnic at Hanging Rock outlined a series that would focus on the disappearance of a group of schoolchildren and one teacher; the trailer proves that there may have been something sinister going on at Appleyard College and the girls didn't so much disappear as run away. It's obviously too soon to say exactly what will happen in the series, but Natalie Dormer already looks to be delivering such a creepy performance that viewers will relate to any characters who want to flee from her. The disappearances take place on Valentine's Day in 1900.

Based on a book of the same name by author Joan Lindsay, Picnic at Hanging Rock will revolve around the investigation into the disappearances, which may not go on for as long in 1900 as they would today. In the trailer, at least one person finds it perfectly reasonable to give up the search after only a week. The show will also examine the impact of the disappearances on the remaining students at Appleyard College, as well as the staff, the families, and the people living in the adjacent town.

In addition to Natalie Dormer as Mrs. Hester Appleyard, Picnic at Hanging Rock stars Samara Weaving, Madeleine Madden, and Lily Sullivan as the three young women who go missing. Also appearing are Lola Bessis of Swim Little Fish Swim, Yael Stone of Orange Is the New Black, Anna McGahan of Underbelly, Sibylla Budd of The Secret Life of Us, Ruby Rees of Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, and Inez Curro of Little Heart.

It's a brave new world for comic book movies, as studios are showing an increased willingness to take risks and try new things with the genre. In the realm of DC movies, few upcoming projects epitomize that idea more than David Ayer's Gotham City Sirens. In the process of taking the spotlight off of the Caped Crusader, the upcoming film will show the titular urban hellhole in a brand new light by focusing on the conflict between the villainous Sirens and the heroic Birds of Prey team.

That said, as excited as we are for Gotham City Sirens, we still know very little about who will take part in the film. One of the most important and fundamental characters in the entire story is Pamela "Poison Ivy" Isley, but no casting reports have been confirmed yet with regards to who will take on the role. To better make sense of this beloved character, we have compiled a list of nine actresses that we think are perfect choices that DC needs to consider. We have quite a few unique options to consider, so we're going to kick this off with an actress who has already shown an interest in joining the DCEU as Poison Ivy.

Jessica Chastain

Kicking off this list is none other than Jessica Chastain -- an actress who seems to have made a genuine and concerted effort to avoid pigeonholing herself in any particular genre as an actress ever since she entered the limelight. Between her work on films like Zero Dark Thirty and Crimson Peak, she has established her ability to convey strength and menace with ease, but her performances in The Help and The Huntsman: Winter's War have also confirmed her knack for sympathetic heroism and charm. Ms. Chastain has already said to CinemaBlend that she is very interested in portraying Poison Ivy at some point in the near future, so this casting decision seems like a complete no-brainer for the folks at DC.

Christina Hendricks

Christina Hendricks' most iconic role to date came during her tenure as Joan Holloway on AMC's Mad Men from 2007 to 2015, and that character could arguably be considered a perfect practice run for portraying Pamela Isley in the DCEU. Known for portraying smart and strong women who know how to use their sexuality to their advantage (as well as her distinctive, curvaceous figure), Hendricks not only looks the part to portray Poison Ivy, she also seems tailor made for the role itself in her ability to match seductiveness with darkness. Beyond that, at 41 she's the perfect age to portray a version of Ivy with a long history in Gotham City facing off against Ben Affleck's Batman.

Kate Mara

The fact that Kate Mara was cast as Sue Storm in Josh Trank's ill-fated Fantastic Four reboot from 2015 was nothing less than a wasted opportunity to use this immensely talented actress in a comic book movie universe. Ms. Mara deserves better, and with Poison Ivy set to join the DCEU, there's no better time for her to get another shot at the world of superhero movies than right now. Aside from her resemblance to Ivy, Mara has proven that she has an established (albeit criminally underused) knack for acting in action films, and her recent turns in projects like Morgan and House of Cards confirmed that she could brood in a way that would make any Poison Ivy fan incredibly happy.

Alexandra Breckinridge

Not only does Alexandra Breckinridge already have experience working within an established comic book universe due to her performance as Jessie Anderson on AMC's The Walking Dead, but she also has ample experience portraying a strong female character with many similar traits to Poison Ivy: American Horror Story's Moira O'Hara. Depicting the younger version of Ms. O'Hara's ghost, Breckinridge nailed the characterization of a woman who knows how to use her physical attractiveness to lure men in, while also maintaining a deep-seated distrust of the men she seduces. Qualities like that are core facets of who Poison Ivy is as a villain, and this small screen experience could easily translate to the DCEU.

Deepika Padukone

She may not look like a traditional depiction of Ivy but keep an open mind. Deepika Padukone isn't the most well-known face among Western movie audiences (yet), but the Bollywood actress has gradually started to make an impression in America. In fact, she made her Hollywood debut in early 2017 with her portrayal of Serena Unger in xXx: The Return of Xander Cage. Although the third installment in the xXx franchise left quite a bit to be desired, Padukone's performance in the movie easily stood out as one of the highlights of the entire affair. Her ability to portray a femme fatale with incredible ease is now firmly established, and it could easily lend itself to a scene-stealing performance as Poison Ivy in Gotham City Sirens.

Madelaine Petsch

Although Madelaine Petsch is the youngest entry on this list by a substantial margin, the Riverdale star has already proven that she has what it takes to make the jump to a major franchise with her now signature role as Cheryl Blossom. Week in and week out, Petsch portrays Cheryl Blossom with a distinctive menace that makes her seem dangerous and terrifying while simultaneously conveying a tragic sense of sympathy and charm. Throw in the ability to control plant life, and those unique qualities as an actress could serve her well in the DCEU. Perhaps most importantly, she is one of the few women on this list with experience playing a comic book character, thus giving her an advantage when it comes to adaptation.

Penelope Cruz

As the oldest entry on this list, one could easily argue that Penelope Cruz is the actress on this list who is the most ideally suited to portray Poison Ivy in a version of Gotham City where Batman and his rogues have existed for decades. More importantly, she is an Academy Award nominated actress (with one win to her name), she has regularly maintained a presence as one of the most beautiful and beloved actresses in Hollywood, and she is even known for her charitable conservation work outside of her acting resume. After combining all of those qualities together, one thing becomes clear: Penelope Cruz could easily make Ivy one of the most engaging villains in the DC Extended Universe.

Natalie Dormer

Like several other actresses on this list, Natalie Dormer has appeared in a comic book movie before -- she had very memorable a scene alongside Chris Evans in Captain America: The First Avenger. However, she was sadly underused as little more than a quick cameo to squeeze some extra laughs out of the film. If you ask us, Margaery Tyrell deserves better than that. Between her work on projects like Game of Thrones and The Hunger Games films, Dormer clearly has no trouble venturing into the world of effects-driven fantasy and sci-fi. That, coupled with her ability to convey strength and beauty in equal measure, would make her a perfect counterpoint to Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn during the events of Gotham City Sirens.

Bryce Dallas Howard

Bryce Dallas Howard has flirted with blockbuster franchises over the years with credits in films like Jurassic World, Terminator: Salvation, Spider-Man 3, and the Twilight movies, but she has yet to come across a blockbuster role where she has had the opportunity to stand out. She has waited patiently for her moment, and Poison Ivy seems like a part that could easily allow this natural redhead to shine. Like Jessica Chastain, Bryce Dallas Howard recently admitted on Twitter that she wants the role of the iconic comic book villainess. If she does get the part, let's just hope that the folks behind this film won't have her sprinting in high heels again; that would not be a great look for Pamela Isley.

Season 7 of Game of Thrones has already finished production and we'll be seeing new episodes on the schedule sooner rather than later. Regardless, there were a slew of deaths during Season 6 of the long-running series, which means things are going to look a little different when the show returns to the schedule. Recently, Natalie Dormer, who played Margaery Tyrell on Game of Thrones, spoke out about how she felt about Margaery's epic demise on the HBO drama last season. Here's what she had to say:

On a show like Game of Thrones, dying is often par for the course. We've heard stories about actors getting calls related to their deaths on the series, but to her credit, Natalie Dormer really had a rather satisfying death. If she were going to be taken out by Cersei, what better way than via a massive wildfire explosion? Apparently, Natalie Dormer sees it that way, too. The other pro to death by wildfire? It's relatively painless compared to some of the other deaths on the show. Remember when Arya left the Hound to die a slow and horrible death? That's not how Margaery Tyrell went out.

Speaking with Mashable, Natalie Dormer also discussed enjoying being on shows with major fandoms. She's played an iconic Sherlock Holmes character on Elementary and is set to appear in the upcoming Mass Effect: Andromeda film, which places her in a big fandom once more. Although Game of Thrones ultimately wrote her character off, the actress still seems pretty pleased as punch about getting to be a part of the fantasy drama.

There are likely to be plenty of other characters who will be biting the dust during Game of Thrones Season 7, and we've heard about a few potential spoilers involving deaths that have come up on the set. We're not sure any of these will be able to compare with the deaths of characters like Margaery Tyrell, Ramsay Bolton, Rickon Stark and Hodor that we witnessed last season, but as Natalie Dormer mentioned, you have to give credit to creators Dan Weiss and David Benioff--they do usually come up with really creative deaths for characters.

Since her first appearance in Season 2 of Game of Thrones, Margaery Tyrell was an important cog in the machine that is Westeros, but without that happening anymore, actress Natalie Dormer is now heading to lands that aren't quite so dangerous. But danger is still very much an issue, as Dormer has signed on to lead a large ensemble for an upcoming miniseries adaptation that reimagines the events of the acclaimed novel Picnic at Hanging Rock, which centers on a series of mysterious disappearances and the aftermath that rocks the local community.

In a more subdued turn than how things play out on the HBO epic, Natalie Dormer will star as Hester Appleyard, the headmistress of Appleyard College for Young Ladies. In the novel, which plays out as if a true story is being told, Mrs. Appleyard takes several teachers and students out for a picnic at the Australian landmark Hanging Rock, where something happens that leads to the disappearance of a handful of schoolchildren and one of the educators. The mystery takes several different strange turns as the local townsfolk aim to figure out what happened, and it should be interesting to see how this "21st century retelling" will alter the events of Joan Lindsay's 1967 novel. I'm betting Dormer will speak up about anything she doesn't like.

And now, a round-up of the rest of this cast of characters, starting with Appleyard's teachers. Orange is the New Black's Yael Stone will star as Miss Dora Lumley, mistress of Deportment and Bible Studies; France KBEK star Lola Bessis will play Mademoiselle Dianne de Poitiers, mistress of French Conversation, Music and Dance; The Doctor Blake Mysteries' Anna McGahan is Miss Greta McCraw, mistress of Geography and Mathematics; then there's Tomorrow, When the War Began actress Sibylla Budd as Mrs. Valange, mistress of Art and Literature. And for the students: Camp's Lily Sullivan is Miranda Reid, Tomorrow, When the War Began's Madeleine Madden is Marion Quade, Monster Trucks' Samara Weaving is Irma Leopold, Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries' Ruby Rees is Edith Horton, and newcomer Inez Curro is Sara Waybourne. And there are dozens of other names that will play other characters.

Hailing from FremantleMedia Australia, Picnic at Hanging Rock will give Natalie Dormer six episodes with which to befuddle audiences. At this time, the drama is only set to air on the Australian network Foxtel. But with Dormer and others now attached to what is already a pretty buzzworthy project, we can perhaps expect Starz or Netflix to step in and acquire the U.S. rights, as well as the U.K. rights, so Dormer can watch when she's back home. The project was written by playwright and screenwriter Beatrix Christian and TV scribe Alice Addison.

Though she's now best known as a thorn in Cersei's side on Game of Thrones, Natalie Dormer has been quite familiar with the small screen across her career otherwise. She was a regular on dramas like The Tudors and The Fades, among others, and also had a notable turn on Elementary as Jamie Moriarty. On the big screen, her biggest score was in both of the Hunger Games: Mockingjay films, but she's got some great stuff coming, such as Farhad Safinia's The Professor and the Madman, also starring Mel Gibson, Sean Penn and Ioan Gruffudd.

Production on Picnic at Hanging Rock is set to kick off later this month in Victoria, Australia, so it's possible we could see this miniseries debut in 2017. In its first five critically acclaimed seasons, Game of Thrones was at the center of a ridiculously large number of conversations, from friends discussing episodes to social media comment chains to countless interviews with the cast and crew. And for every instance where the actual plot and characters were talked about, there was another instance where the lone subject was the show’s controversial uses of sex and violence. Star Natalie Dormer had a few choice words to say for those who only raise their voice to criticize the arguably extreme subject matter.

Blammo! It can’t get any more logically succinct than that last point. If you want something that Game of Thrones isn’t likely to offer – such as long-lasting happiness amongst characters, heavily choreographed musical numbers, or space battles – then why would you continue to watch it? Yes, I get that watching fully-clothed characters not join orgies or not get beheaded isn’t too much to ask from a TV series in general, but those things are a part of George R.R. Martin’s source material, for better or worse, and the show could risk putting off the built-in fanbase if they were to change the story to remove all of the nudity and violence solely for the sanctity of some people’s moral centers. Fans are more important than critics. Always. Even when it means dongs and eye-gouging. 

Natalie Dormer should be a spokesperson for the concept of common sense, where she just goes around telling people how to handle their self-announced problems through obvious means. Don’t want to hear about people’s political opinions and affinity for felines on Facebook? Don’t get on Facebook. Don’t like the way a band covered a favorite song of yours? Don’t listen to it. Don’t want to see what kind of painful debauchery Ramsay Bolton gets involved with next? Don’t watch the show where Ramsay Bolton does horrible things to people.

Dormer also told The Sunday Times (via Daily Star) that she does find some of the show’s scenes hard to watch, but that she can’t apologize for the actions of her character and doesn’t think hiding young people’s eyes from this kind of thing would do them any good. The removal of Jon Snow’s stabbing and the carnage that White Walkers bring does nothing to remove violence from the real world. 

Though there’s probably no connection, it’s somewhat amusing that Dormer said this just a few days after Vikings creator Michael Hirst ripped Game of Thrones for using sex and violence as gratuitous ways to shock viewers, claiming he doesn’t do the same with his own show. I’m just saying it’s good timing, if anything.

As long as there are politics running our world, there will always be political thrillers to hold up a magnifying glass to those involved. The constant battle between governments and the press has become a well-worn tradition over the years in cinema, stretching as far back as All the President’s Men back in 1976. With new wars, conflicts, and conspiracies constantly rearing their heads, these issues become more and more relevant. The upcoming thriller Official Secrets seeks to take aim at one of these conspiracies by following the story of a British intelligence agent who is imprisoned when she leaks classified information to the press in 2003.

Official Secrets is still in the very early stages of development and as such not much information has come forward. However, THR has reported new updates regarding the film’s star-studded cast list. Headlining the affair is Harrison Ford himself as a CIA agent, but actors Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Dormer, Paul Bettany, and Martin Freeman will join him. Let’s take a closer look at these actors and their roles in the film.

Anthony Hopkins

Hannibal Lecter himself; Anthony Hopkins has been cast in Official Secrets as a retired U.K General who seemingly sides with Ford's character and supports the imprisonment of Katharine Gun for leaking state secrets. One of the most legendary actors on the cast, Hopkins has appeared in numerous iconic roles such as the aforementioned Hannibal, Zorro, and even Alfred Hitchcock. Despite his advanced age, the Academy Award winning actor has remained busy in recent years, with his most widely recognized role being Thor’s father Odin in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Natalie Dormer

Natalie Dormer has kept herself busy over the last few years. Aside from her roles on The Tudors and Game of Thrones, she has also appeared in the Hunger Games franchise as well as the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Captain America: The First Avenger. This past month saw her in one of her first leading roles as twin sisters Sara and Jess in the horror film The Forest. Dormer has been cast in Official Secrets as central character Katharine Gun, a British intelligence officer arrested for leaking classified documents to the press.

Paul Bettany

A character actor with an incredibly long resume, Paul Bettany has appeared in numerous films across numerous genres – ranging from A Beautiful Mind to A Knight’s Tale, to Legion. His most recent mainstream work is as AI construct Jarvis and superhero The Vision in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – a role which he will continue into this summer’s Captain America: Civil War. In Official Secrets, Bettany plays Martin Bright, a British reporter for the London Observer to whom Katharine Gun leaks classified intelligence.

Martin Freeman

Rounding out the film’s cast is Martin Freeman. A well-known British actor, Freeman has appeared in numerous beloved franchises such as Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit films, as well as BBC’s Sherlock alongside Benedict Cumberbatch. In addition to those series, he will soon join the Marvel Cinematic Universe during the events of Captain America: Civil War – although the nature of his role in that film has yet to be revealed. In Official Secrets, Freeman will play a colleague of Bettany’s character as the foreign affairs editor for the London Observer.

We will bring you more information associated with the release of Official Secrets as it becomes available to us. Reports indicate that the film will begin production sometime in May.

The Hunger Games franchise is one still capable of printing money. Even though Mockingjay: Part 2 had had the smallest box office of any of the movies in the series, it’s still a top 10 movie as far as this year’s box office is concerned. This means that there's interest in continuing the franchise in one form or another. Several members of the cast and crew have spoken out about their interest in such an idea. Now Natalie Dormer has added her voice to those saying that the only way they’d be interested in another movie was if the author of the book series is involved.

Natalie Dormer was asked about a Hunger Games prequel as part of the press for her new horror movie The Forest. She told Entertainment Weekly that any new movie would need to be based on an idea by original author Suzanne Collins. 

As Dormer points out, director Francis Lawrence, who was behind the camera for three of the four films in the series thus far, also stated that for him to be interested in returning, he also wants to be sure Collins is involved.

A couple of weeks ago a Lionsgate executive confirmed that they were developing ideas for a Hunger Games prequel, and that there are hopes the franchise will "live on and on." While very few specifics were given, Collins' name has yet to come up as part of any conversation about future films, so at least at this point, it does not appear that she is involved.

Jennifer Lawrence has made it clear that she’s done with The Hunger Games, which is probably okay with Lionsgate. While her star power would be of immense value, the studio apparently believes that the reason the last couple films were less successful was because of their lack of tournaments involving child murder. Apparently they think fans, especially younger fans, want the child murder back, so the studio will focus on prequels in order to bring that aspect back into the franchise. The strategy of making prequels likely removes most of the previous cast from a future movie anyway, and even characters who returned would need to appear as younger versions.

In a recent interview, the actress admitted she has just recently wrapped up her tenure on the set of Game of Thrones Season 6. She also gave us a big hint about what to expect from the character during the upcoming season. Here’s what she had to say:

As we noted prior, the actress has her hand in a lot of different pots, and she was doing press for The Forest when she spoke with Den of Geek, so unfortunately she didn’t get into a lot of detail about the “new partner” she will be verbally sparring with this season. Luckily, thanks to a little sleuthing, we already kind-of have an idea.

If you can remember back to the end of Season 5, Margaery was actually imprisoned by the Sparrows for defending her brother and lying in the attempt to save him while under oath in court. About a month ago, Natalie Dormer revealed that a huge Season 5 plot will feature Margaery looking for ways to get out of her cell. The big barrier to her exiting prison should be a member of the Sparrows if not the High Sparrow himself, and we’re guessing that should lead to some more great scenes highlighting Margaery's ability to manipulate through charm. Dormer certainly thinks so, calling her upcoming Season 6 role “ingenious.”

Game of Thrones is always notoriously tight-lipped related to the upcoming episodes. However, people are so invested in the series that some information does leak. We know a bit about Margaery coming up, obviously, but we also know that a slew of new characters have been added for Season 6, including some additional members of the Greyjoy clan and Samwell Tarly's family. Plus, reports indicate that Kit Harington has been spotted on set, and there have been plenty of other leaks if you've been keeping your eyes peeled.

As Game of Thrones is moving forward over at HBO in earnest, gearing up for what should prove to be an exciting sixth season of the series, we’re finally learning some tidbits about what we can expect from the new episodes. We’ve known for a while that the Tyrells will be back and doing some manipulating in King’s Landing, and this week Natalie Dormer had some interesting things to say about what her character, Margaery Tyrell, will be doing.

Namely, after spending quite a bit of Season 5 in prison, she’ll be figuring out exactly how to make her way out of the clutches of the High Sparrow. Here’s what the actress had to tell Women’s Health:

Similar to other characters on the show, Dormer is staying a bit coy about exactly what will happen, but it does look as if Margaery will be able to escape prison at some point. We don’t know if this will be because her grandmother, Lady Olenna, had a bright idea or whether Margaery herself will figure out how to get released/ escape. Regardless, this doesn’t seem as if it will be one of the darkest plotlines Game of Thrones has ever put together. Dormer seems almost gleeful when describing her story arc for Season 6, and the word “amusing” seems to indicate this should be a pretty fun plot for fans to watch unfold on the small screen.

Probable Season 6 spoilers are in this paragraph, so go ahead and hop away if all you wanted was a light tease. It should be noted that reports from the set have discussed a scene being filmed a few months ago that included Jaime Lannister confronting the Sparrows and demanding Margaery’s release. You can read more about the scene, here, but what has been reported from the set does correlate with what Natalie Dormer has revealed in the recent interview.

Stuff has been pretty crazy in King’s Landing ever since the Sparrows were introduced. Lady Olenna has been busy trying to take on Cersei, as well as get Loras and Margaery released from prison. Plus, Cersei herself suffered at the hands of the High Sparrow at the end of Season 5. Obviously these shenanigans are far from over. We’ve already learned that a confrontation between Olenna and Cersei is on the way, and apparently Margaery is doing her own plotting, as well. I have no idea how Tommen will fit in to all of this, but as the battle for the Iron Throne continues to be waged, I have a feeling he’ll either need to come into his own or falter at some point.

We still have a while to wait before Game of Thrones returns to the schedule. The new episodes are expected to air in 2016, and we’ll let you know as soon as HBO releases an official premiere date. For now, here’s what we know about Game of Thrones Season 6.

On HBO’s Game of Thrones, actress Natalie Dormer oozes ambition and situation-based savvy as the sometimes-queen Margaery, and it’s no surprise that she’s got that kind of a personality in real life. When The Muppets’ revealed Kermit’s new girlfriend Denise, there were quite a few comparisons between the Muppet and Dormer, and rather than be offended or shrug it off good-humoredly, the English actress owned the moment.

When the subject was brought up at New York Comic-Con, Dormer suggested that she might have been the origin of those comparisons a few years ago. Here’s what she said about a past episode of Game of Thrones, according to EW.

First of all, I’d like to say that the way I looked at it, Denise looked like the much more attractive Dormer more than say, Dormer looks like a pig, as that has more negative connotations.

Second, power to her for taking a childish insult that probably hurt her feelings at one point in life and spinning that as creatively as possible. How many of us can say that our schoolyard tormentors inspired a line in Game of Thrones. That’s way cooler than being able to say that your beer belly is what inspired Homer Simpson’s.

Third, what if she’s right, and whoever said it for the very first time only mentioned it because of that line from the episode? And what if the rest of humanity followed suit, even if some of them hadn’t ever watched Game of Thrones, because independent thoughts are extinct, man, and we’re just a bunch of puppets with hands guiding us, bro, and Kermit is more real than me, man. Anyway, this is what Denise looks like on The Muppets, just in case you wondered.

Game of Thrones is a fantasy drama set in a world where swordplay is common, guns have yet to be invented, and where dragons and magic play key roles. Despite being decidedly fantasy, the characters on the series have some similarities to life as we know it. Recently, Natalie Dormer, who plays Margaery Tyrell on the series, even went so far as to say that if Margaery were living in the present day, she’d basically be Kim Kardashian.

For several seasons now, Margaery Tyrell has plotted and smiled her way through a series of schemes meant to keep her as close to the crown and as popular among the people as possible. While she does not have social media like Instagram and Twitter at her disposal, she has done a lot by helping out the poor while bethrothed to Joffrey, thus gaining the love of the people. In court, she has also had a pretty strong entourage and tends to bring tact to delicate social situations. She has pretty much everyone but Cersei and the sparrows on her side, and it’s a lack of alliance with those two factions that led to her getting thrown into jail during Season 5.

While her antics aren’t exactly as outrageous as the Kim Kardashian Paper Magazine shoot that broke the Internet several months ago, Dormer does have a point about Margaery Tyrell being like Kardashian in some ways. She’s a woman born into privilege who has used her position and advantages to propel herself even further into the limelight.

In real life, Game of Thrones has helped Natalie Dormer to propel herself further into the limelight, too. Dormer told The Sunday Express that Game of Thrones has opened plenty of doors for her.

Game of Thrones came under some hot water with how it treated a few scenes involving females this year. However, actress Natalie Dormer, who plays the well-liked character Margaery Tyrell on the hit HBO series, recently noted that she is involved in a field where everyone is objectified—not just the female characters. Here’s what she had to say:

While there aren’t a lot of naked men that have popped up on Game of Thrones--unlike other pay-cable series Spartacus, for example—a lot of the men on the series are thought of in terms of qualities related to their good looks and the charm that exudes off of them due to those good looks. There are plenty of Jon Snow and Robb Stark memes on the internet to prove that.

Still, there’s a lot of talk about the objectification of women on television, especially as related to the tight costumes Margaery and Daenerys have favored in the past, not to mention the lack of male nudity when women's bare breasts are on the show all the time. The way sex has been depicted—especially related to the way other female lead Sansa was treated in the bedroom during Season 5—has also been criticized on the series. Still, Natalie Dormer is also a staunch defender of the series, telling The Guardian that she believes Game of Thrones tackles topics in a way befitting the fantasy narrative.

Whether or not people are happy about the ratio of male-to-female nudity on the HBO drama, the show is doing extremely well in the ratings and is already gearing up for Season 6. New cast members are signed on and we are expected to learn a lot more about returning characters, including Bran, Arya, Sansa, Margaery, Cersei and the probably/possibly dead Jon Snow. Although new episodes won’t air until 2016, you can find out everything we know about Game of Thrones Season 6; although we can tell you right now that we don’t know whether a penis or two will pop up. Most of the hot dudes on this drama are already dead, anyway.

Natalie Dormer recently hopped from The Hunger Games army-esque gear back into her Game of Thrones silk skirts to shoot the upcoming fifth season of the HBO series. The actress, who plays Margaery Tyrell on the drama, loves the beautiful and intricate gear put together for her Game Of Thrones character, but the clothing is also a constant source of struggle, thanks to being created out of a ton of flowing material that gets in the way.

Dormer’s Margaery Tyrell is pretty cool, calm and collected at all times on the series, so it’s pretty funny to think of her having an epic fall down some precarious cliffs. I imagine it looked something like this:

Dormer’s character has plenty of presence onscreen and when we get the final versions of the episodes, it’s definitely difficult to tell that she is having trouble moving in those beautiful but constricting pieces of clothing. However, according to the interview with Yahoo, falling down some cliffs may not have even been the worst trip the actress has endured on set.

No cameraman seems to have been hurt in the incident and we can all be thankful she wasn’t carrying that crossbow at the time. And while long skirts may be an issue for Dormer, at least she doesn’t have to deal with some of the other costume and haircut restrictions her fellow actors and actresses must deal with. We’ve already seen some of the uncomfortable-looking armor characters like Cersei and the upcoming Sand Snakes will wear, and poor Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow on the series, hasn’t been able to cut his hair for half a decade, now.

It can definitely be tough to be a part of a series as intricate as Game of Thrones, but the cast, including Dormer, definitely crushes it. Now, we just need to convince HBO to put all of these flubs and falls onto a gag reel the next time the company is putting together a full-season Blu-ray set.

Actress Natalie Dormer may have scored a win this weekend in Mockingjay: Part I, but to most fans, she’s still known as Margaery Tyrell on Game Of Thrones. For the most part, her portrayal of the social and political climber hasn't caused a lot of waves, but apparently, there was a behind-the-scenes issue that caused some controversy with showrunners Dan Weiss and David Benioff on the set.

During Season 4, following the cringe-worthy scene between Margaery and the newly designated boy-king Tommen Baratheon, the seasoned actress had some real problems with the interaction between the two characters on Game of Thrones. After reading the scene, Dormer phoned the showrunners to voice her concerns about the overall vibe of the scene between her and the de-facto king.

For those that have read the George R.R. Martin tomes, there is a constant struggle between the books and the HBO show and finding out what works and plays well on the small screen and what does not translate well from the written word. Dormer has become a fan favorite with her conniving and cunning ways and although she plays the part perfectly, having seduced Joffrey and now seemingly having her sights on Tommen, the actress also tells The Daily Beast she is ready for a change of characters and scenery.

Still, Dormer does one hell of a job playing the subtle femme fatale that is slowly climbing the throne of Westeros. She seems to want to stretch out her talents in King's Landing so she is more than a pawn on the chessboard. We'll find out when Game of Thrones hits the schedule this spring.

Natalie Dormer is a big part of HBO’s Game of Thrones, and because her character has more importance on the show than in the books, she does have ideas about her fate on the popular subscription cable drama. Natalie Dormer recently admitted she has thought about her potential death on the series. A lot. And each of the potential endings she hopes for are worse than the next.

The beheading Dormer is referring to is from The Tudors. In that historical series, she played Anne Boleyn, a woman who was notoriously beheaded by King Henry VIII in 1536 and who got the same treatment on the small screen. Luckily for the actress, A Song of Ice and Fire writer George R.R. Martin has been creative with the death blows he has delivered in the series, and I would be a bit surprised to see Dormer’s character, Margaery Tyrell, go in the same manner as another on the show. This means she is likely safe from poison!

Of course, we are about to enter uncharted territory on Game of Thrones. As Dormer notes during the interview with Conan O'Brien, the end of her storyline in the Song of Ice and Fire books is drawing near.

Sounds like the worst fraternity ever. She’s in good company, though. A lot of the storylines are quickly catching up to the end of George R.R. Martin’s writings. In fact, Bran, Hodor and the rest of the North of the wall gang won’t be appearing in Game of Thrones Season 5, at all, thanks to D.B. Weiss and David Benioff running out of stories for the characters. Reportedly, the two showrunners have sat down with George R.R. Martin and know the basic details about where each of the show’s characters are going, but that doesn’t mean the actors and the actresses on the show have any idea what might happen after their particular storylines catch up to the books on HBO’s fantasy drama.

There is good news for fans of Margaery Tyrell, though. As Dormer notes, she’s just finished shooting Season 5 of Game of Thrones, and from the way she puts it, she’s made it through the upcoming season safely, which corresponds with the books (Although, she’s not a Point of View character, so theoretically, she could die and we might not hear about it in the books for a short while). Unless she’s a great liar, it’s safe to say we’ll see plenty more of Tyrell on Game of Thrones this season.

Only a handful of characters are left to be added to the Hunger Games films, as the third book in the series-- and what will be the third and fourth movies-- Mockingjay reduces the cast of characters drastically and only adds a few new characters to the mix. Now one more of them has been confirmed, and fans of other fantasy worlds will probably recognize her. The Wrap reports that Natalie Dormer, who plays Margery Tyrell on Game of Thrones, has been added to Mockingjay as Cressida, director of the "propo" films that Katniss stars in to help the budding revolution.

To get into more detail requires some spoilers, but to be honest, I had to look up Cressida on Hunger Games Wiki-- the names in this series can be a little wily, and Cressida isn't really the most crucial character in Mockingjay. She and her camera crew Castor and Pollux are part of all the action in the film, but as you might expect, Katniss and other holdover characters from Catching Fire are more of the focus. Mockingjay isn't entirely without new faces though-- Julianne Moore has been eyed to play the key role of President Coin, a major political leader who only emerges in Mockingjay. Again, to go much more into it would require spoilers-- but if you've clicked on a piece about them casting Cressida, you've probably read the books by now, right?

Even if you haven't, you'll have the chance to get caught up soon. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is making its way to us quickly, promoting itself with everything from Capitol Couture profiles to total beefcake shirtless shots, and of course, a handful of new trailers in the mix. Catching Fire arrives in theaters on November 22 this year. For Mockingjay, and Dormer's role in both parts 1 and 2, you'll have to wait a bit long-- Part 1 comes November 21, 2014, with Part 2 coming nearly a full year later, on November 20, 2015. So if you want to see Dormer in action, your best bet is probably the next season of Game of Thrones which ought to premiere on HBO some time next year.

The talent behind The Counselor is not just staggering but impressively growing. Written for the screen by Cormac McCarthy, the Pulitzer Prize winner author of “The Road” and "No Country For Old Men," the violent drug drama is in development under the direction of Ridley Scott and already features an all-star and critically acclaimed cast that includes Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt, Penelope Cruz, Javier Bardem and Cameron Diaz.

Just yesterday, John Leguizamo joined the project and now, according to THR, Natalie Dormer has also landed a role in The Counselor. Dormer is probably best known for her role as Anne Boleyn on Showtime’s The Tudors, but she was fantastic in her first year as Margaery Tyrell in the second season of Game of Thrones and is great addition to any ensemble. Dormer also appeared in a few features last year including a small but memorable part kissing Chris Evans in Captain America: The First Avenger.

There are no details about her role in the film except that she’s been enlisted in support of the other big names. The film is set along the Mexican border, like so much of McCarthy’s work (he has a series dubbed “The Border Trilogy” which includes “All the Pretty Horses,” “The Crossing” and “Cities of the Plain” not to mention the aforementioned, “No Country for Old Men") and follows a decent but down and out attorney who turns to the drug trade for funds.

Fassbender stars as the attorney while Bardem’s rich buddy and Pitt’s shady character round out their small cocaine business. Of course, things spiral out of control in what the article describes as ”a dialogue-heavy, violent and racy script.” You had me at hello.
