Game of Throne is a HBO show that got the world talking, and was quintessential water cooler talk during its years on the air. Those with a HBO Max subscription were able to return to Westeros thanks to the prequel House of the Dragon, which is set generations before the flagship series. Actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau famously played Jaime Lannister, and recently reacted to the backlash surrounding GOT's ending.

Game of Thrones' series finale is divisive to this day, as fans weren't happy with Dany's ending and the fact that Bran became the new King of Westeros. We've had a few years to process it all, and Coster-Waldau recently spoke to The Independent about the reception to the finale. In his words:

He's not wrong. Expectations and pressure for Game of Thrones' final season couldn't have been higher, so finding a way to please everyone was an impossibility. And since George R.R. Martin still hasn't finished the books, the showrunners had to make some bold choices without the source material.

The final few season of GOT technically weren't even book to screen adaptations, since they ran out of Martin's novels after around Season 5. As such, bold new narrative choices needed to be used to continue (and eventually conclude) the story. Unfortunately, the final season in particular has received a ton of backlash over the years.

Coster-Waldau no doubt understands just how beloved the Game of Thrones franchise is, but he's still got an interesting perspective on all the finale backlash. He ultimately thinks it's just a TV show, and that all the discourse is a bit annoying. Considering how many years he put into portraying Jaime, can you really blame him?

In the end Jaime and Cersei died in each other's arms, crushed from underneath the Red Keep as a result of Dany burning down King's Landing. While some thought this was a fitting ending, others wanted a more satisfying and bloody final conflict with the Mother of Dragons. And in the end, the Lannister twins were dead for the entirety of the series finale.

Some thought that Jaimie going back to his sister/lover was him regressing as a character, but he did get a nice sendoff in the finale. Towards the end of the episode we saw Brienne finally filling in Jaime's entry in the The Book of Brothers, which is the log for each member of the Kingsguard. He was finally known as something other than the Kingslayer... even if he and Brienne didn't get their happy ending.

Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon are streaming on HBO Max. The latter will return for Season 3, but it's unclear when.

Believe it or not, Game of Thrones wrapped on HBO more than six years ago, with many longtime characters dead by the time the final credits rolled. Season 8 was certainly divisive among fans, but the consensus seems to be that the finale was just not a strong conclusion. I personally haven't rewatched many episodes since the 2019 finale, but the mood recently struck me to revisit one very specific scene with Jaime and Brienne, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau's performance has me bitter all over again about how Jaime's story ended.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau's Unforgettable Scene

The scene I'm referring to comes from the fifth episode of Season 3, called "Kissed By Fire" and available streaming with an HBO Max subscription. By this point in the series, Jaime was at his lowest. He'd violently lost his sword hand, and he seemed to be at death's door from the infected wound. It was in this state that Jaime stepped into a large steaming bathtub, where a dismayed Brienne was already cleaning up.

Barely holding on to consciousness, Jaime revealed the backstory how he became known as the "Kingslayer." In this telling, he wasn’t an arrogant young knight who killed the king at the first opportunity, but a faithful member of the Kingsguard in King's Landing... to a certain point. Jaime was almost growling when he got to the key part of the story, telling Brienne:

Game of Thrones had established Ned Stark’s version back in Season 1, and fans had no reason to doubt him. Ned was the good guy, after all, and Jaime was the guy who tossed a kid out of a window to cover up his incestuous affair.

“Kissed by Fire” did give reason to doubt. Feverish and missing a hand, Jaime was in no shape to spin an elaborate lie. When he snarled that he didn’t tell the story to Ned because “by what right does the wolf judge the lion,” I believed him. Jaime still did despicable things, but there were new shades of gray.

Why I'm Mad Again About Jaime's Ending

Now, a lot went wrong on Game of Thrones after the Battle of Winterfell, but it was "The Bells" as the penultimate episode that made me furious on Jaime's behalf. I'd been resigned to Jaime likely dying by Cersei's side on the show, and there are even hints in the books that George R.R. Martin may do the same if he ever finishes the saga. But I wasn't prepared for Jaime to say this about the people of King's Landing in his final scene with Tyrion:

Were there some solid moments in this sequence between the brothers? Sure. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Peter Dinklage delivered as Jaime and Tyrion said their final farewells, but I was soured on the whole scene once Jaime dropped that line. I could believe Jaime falling back into old habits about Cersei, but I just couldn't buy that the man who killed King Aerys to save the city would say that he "never cared much" for the common people.

For me, this scene was the worst for Jamie in "The Bells," and that's saying something. In fact, other than the brothers' farewell, my favorite thing about the sequence is probably that it's about as darkly lit as the Battle of Winterfell, which could help me try to forget it. Still, with the passage of six years and now rewatching Nikolaj Coster-Waldau’s performance in the Season 3 bathtub scene, I can at least look back on the highlights without dwelling on that ending.

Even though there's a lot of hype surrounding House Of The Dragon Season 3, it's easy to forget just how popular Game Of Thrones was to many. NBA fans recently received a reminder though, following a priceless interaction between a player who just happened to spot Nikolaj Coster-Waldau hanging out courtside during a game.

Toronto Raptors player RJ Barrett might not remember a loss to the Los Angeles Lakers years from now, but he might remember when he randomly saw Jaime Lannister in the middle of a game. Check out the moment he spotted the Game Of Thrones star below and the hilarious double-take he does:

I have to wonder if Barrett just finished binging Game Of Thrones with a Max subscription, because I'm not sure I would've recognized Nikolaj Coster-Waldau so easily. Then again, Lakers courtside tickets aren't cheap, so it's probably much easier to recognize someone when you narrow down a list of who could reasonably afford to grab the same seats as Billy Crystal and Jack Nicholson.

The head turn is great, but it doesn't do the full moment justice. Fortunately, we have an alternate angle of the interaction that fully captures Barrett's surprise and shows he did recognize Coster-Waldau pretty quickly:

Unfortunately, recognizing the Kingslayer didn't grant RJ Barrett the strength he needed to topple "King James" (LeBron James) and the Lakers. Perhaps if he had been willing to do some of the wild things Jaime did, it might've been possible, but considering Nikolaj Coster-Waldau couldn't watch some of his character's scenes, I can see why Barrett didn't. Plus, I've never seen a window to push anyone out of courtside at a basketball game.

Now, readers might be curious about what the Game Of Thrones actor is up to after the show, and let me be sure to say Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has kept busy. Beyond appearing in a few movies and TV shows since the show ended, you might've missed his scene in The Flash. He was also in the great Apple TV+ series The Last Thing He Told Me, which is worth watching for those who haven't had a chance to watch it yet.

Going back to this game, I love seeing moments like these, because they remind me that even some of the best athletes in the world have interests just like we do. It's so silly to type out, but when we only see them play sports and talk about said sports in interviews, I can see how people make that mistake. Now I just want to hear about how much Nikolaj Coster-Waldau enjoys basketball and whether he was there in support of the Lakers or the Raptors.

HBO's Game of Thrones ran for eight legendary seasons, airing 73 episodes in total. The sprawling epic included dozens of storylines and even more characters. According to IMDB, 843 different actors appeared on the show, including these 32 who appeared in the most episodes. 

There are some surprising characters that don't appear on this list, like Ramsey Bolton (Iwan Rheon), his father Roose Bolton (Michael McElhatton), Ollena Tyrell (Diane Rigg), and, of course, Ned Stark (Sean Bean), and Khal Drogo (Jason Momoa), who didn't live long enough to be on it.

Tyrion Lannister - 67 Episodes

Peter Dinklage's character, Tyrion Lannister, appears in more episodes than any other character on Game of Thrones. The cleverest member of the Lannister clan appeared in 67 of the 73 episodes. He's introduced in the very first episode and makes it all the way to the last one. 

Cersei Lannister - 62 Episodes

The villain we all loved to hate, Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) appeared in an amazing 62 episodes. For a character that was in the middle of all the palace intrigue, who made as many enemies as Cersei did, it's a wonder she made it as far as she did. Like her siblings, Cersei was introduced in the first episode of the show, and made it to the 72nd episode, when she was killed when the Red Keep collapsed on her and her brother Jaime. 

Daenerys Targaryen - 62 Episodes

Daenerys Targaryen's character arc from the meek sister of a pretender king to a strong leader to a bloodthirsty tyrant is one of the most controversial arcs in TV history. It all began in the first episode of the series and ended in the controversial final episode. Emilia Clarke's character was in a total of 62 episodes over that time. 

Jon Snow - 62 Episodes

The broody Jon Snow (Kit Harington), has one of the craziest storylines of the series, taking him from Winterfell to The Wall, to the Red Keep, and everywhere in between. Audiences met Jon in the first episode, along with the rest of the Starks, and he makes it all the way to the end. It might not have ended for Jon the way some people wanted, but at least he's alive at the show's conclusion. 

Sansa Stark - 59 Episodes

Another character with an insane story arc is Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner). It unfolds over 59 episodes, starting with the first and ending with the last. She goes from a sweet summer child in the beginning, to one of the toughest and coldest leaders in The North by the end. Sansa has a brutal life over the course of the series, but it leads to somewhere great. 

Arya Stark - 59 Episodes

Viewers first met the second youngest Stark child, Arya (Maisie Williams), in the first episode when King Robert came to visit Winterfell. Through 59 episodes over all eight seasons, Arya turns into one of the best assassins in Westeros after her travels take her from her home up north, to King's Landing, to Braavos, and back again, finally ending up at Winterfell for one of the biggest moments of the series, when she takes out the Night King. 

Jaime Lannister - 55 Episodes

It's no surprise that Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) is on this list, with 55 episodes. Jaime and his sister Cersei first appeared in the premiere, making quite a mark for the things he would do for love. He also has one of the least satisfying story arcs, after ditching Lady Brienne to return to his toxic relationship with his sister. The Kingslayer almost finds redemption before giving it all up for misguided love. 

Jorah Mormont - 52 Episodes

Ser Jorah Mormont (Iain Glen), Daenerys' faithful guard makes it 52 episodes in Game of Thrones. He appears by his queen's side in the first episode and through eight seasons of ups and downs, including a long banishment from Daenerys' Queens Guard. In the end, Jorah gets the noble death he deserves in the second episode of Season 8, defending the Mother of Dragons in the Battle of Winterfell against the White Walkers.

Samwell Tarly - 48 Episodes

Jon Snow's most loyal companion is Samwell Tarly (John Bradley). Jon meets Sam at Castle Black in the fourth episode of Season 1 and they remain the best of friends until the end. After a journey that takes him all over Westeros, Sam makes it to the end of the final episode. 

Theon Greyjoy - 47 Episodes

Possibly no one had a rougher time in Game of Thrones than Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen). That's not to say he didn't deserve some of the unspeakable things that happened to him, as he was pretty awful from the time we met in the first episode until he finally redeems himself in Season 8. Like so many others, Theon falls at the Battle of Winterfell after defending Bran for as long as he can. Theon made it a total of 47 episodes. 

Varys - 46 Episodes

Lord Varys, the Spider, played by Conleth Hill, is always lurking in the shadows. For 46 episodes of Game of Thrones, he is mixing things up behind the scenes. Audiences first meet the Master of Whisperers when Ned Stark attends his first small council meeting in Episode 3 of Season 1. Varys is still helping make decisions for the realm in the final episode of the series. 

Davos Seaworth - 42 Episodes

Ser Davos Seaworth (Liam Cunningham), the pirate-turned-knight is a fan favorite who first appeared in Episode 1 of Season 2 as an advisor to Stannis Baratheon. Though he comes from humble beginnings, he rises all the way to Master of Ships under King Bran in the final episode of the show. 

Brienne Of Tarth - 42 Episodes

One of the most noble people in all of Westeros is Brienne of Tarth, played by Gwendoline Christie. We don't meet Brienne until Episode 3 of Season 2, but from there, she becomes a key character in a number of different stories. She has one of the most satisfying conclusions when she is named Commander of the King's Guard in the final episode. 

Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish - 41 Episodes

Aidan Gillen's character, Petyr Baelish, better known by his nickname, Littlefinger, plays a massive role in the battle for the throne throughout the series. As Master of Coin, viewers first meet Littlefinger in Episode 3 of Season 1. Though he puts himself in danger a number of times with his conniving actions, he makes it 42 episodes, before dying at the hands of Arya in the Season 7 finale.   

Bran Stark - 40 Episodes

Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright) plays one of the most pivotal roles throughout the run of Game of Thrones. In a way, he is responsible for everything that happens after he is thrown from the window by Jaime at the end of the very first episode, and in the end, it's Bran that becomes King at the end of the series, which surprised most fans of the show.

Sandor "The Hound" Clegane - 38 Episodes

Rory McCann's portrayal of Sandor "The Hound" Clegane is one of the best on the show. He's funny, tough, scary, and sometimes, even kind. It's a hard line to walk for an actor and McCann does it brilliantly for 38 episodes, from the first in the series until the second-to-last episode when he dies with his brother, The Mountain. 

Missandei - 38 Episodes 

Daenerys Targaryen's righthand woman, Missandei (Nathalie Emmanuel), is one of the most loyal people on the show, serving Dany as both an advisor and a good friend. Fans first meet Missandei in the first episode of Season 3 and watch her through 38 episodes, until she is killed on Cersei's order in Episode 4 of Season 8.

Bronn - 37 Episodes

Jerome Flynn's Bronn is the ultimate survivor. While he's a sellsword when we first meet him, when he fights as Tyrion's champion for his trial by combat at the Eyrie in Episode 4 of Season 1, he ends up a high lord and Master of Coin by the end of the series after appearing in 37 episodes, right down to the final one. 

Podrick Payne - 35 Episodes

Podrick Payne (Daniel Portman) is a ladies' man, which is one of the funniest recurring jokes on Game of Thrones. He's also a loyal squire to Brienne until he is promoted to the Kingsguard in the final episode. The popular Podrick appears in 35 episodes in total, from Episode 2 of Season 2, until the end. 

Grey Worm - 34 Episodes

Grey Worm (Jacob Anderson) is the former slave, freed by Dany, and becomes Dany's most loyal soldier. He appears in a total of 34 episodes, starting in Season 3 and making it to the final episode and living to see another day. 

Eddison Tollett - 34 Episodes

Viewers first meet Eddison Tollett (Ben Crompton) in Episode 1 of Season 2 as a member of the Night's Watch. Always faithful to Jon Snow, Edd is a key member of the watch, though not a major character in the show. Still, he appears in 34 episodes, until his death at the Battle of Winterfell in Season 8.

Tormund Giantsbane - 33 Episodes

Everyone's favorite Wildling warrior, Tormund, played by Kristofer Hivju, appears in 33 episodes. We meet him later in the series, in Episode 1 of Season 3, but luckily for everyone, he makes it to the end, traveling with Jon Snow north of what's left of The Wall to live with the other Wildlings. 

Grand Maester Pycelle - 31 Episodes

Grand Maester Pycelle, played by the great Julian Glover, is a weaseling character, loyal to the Lannisters. That is, until he is betrayed by Cersei and her defrocked Maester, Qyburn. Still, he appears in 31 episodes from Season 1 until his death in Season 6. 

Melisandre - 29 Episodes

As despicable as Melisandre (Carice van Houten) is, it's remarkable that she survives until Season 8. Appearing in a total of 29 episodes, the Red Woman's allegiances change a couple of times, though nothing will ever excuse what she did to Stannis' daughter. 

Tywin Lannister - 27 Episodes

Charles Dance's performance as Tywin Lannister is one of the best in all of Game Of Thrones. Over 27 episodes from Season 1 through his death in the privy in Season 8, Tywin is a villain everyone loves to hate. 

Gilly - 27 Episodes

Gilly (Hannah Murray) is one of the most sympathetic characters in the brutal world of Games of Thrones. The former Wildling daughter/wife of Craster escapes with Sam and her son and they survive together until the very end of show. Gilly appears in 27 episodes from Season 2 through the finale. 

Margaery Tyrell - 26 Episodes

Margaery Tyrell, played by Natalie Dormer, is a polarizing character in Game of Thrones. She has a knack for playing the game well and married not one, but two kings throughout her 26-episode run between Seasons 1 and 6, but ultimately she is outplayed by Cersei when she is killed in the Sept of Baelor explosion. 

Joffrey Baratheon - 26 episodes

There is no question that Joffrey Baratheon (Jack Gleeson) is one of the greatest villains on Game of Thrones and in TV history. Almost from the moment audiences met him in the first episode, we hated him. That hatred only grew over the next 26 episodes that he appears in, until finally, we all get what we wanted when he is poisoned at his own wedding. 

Catelyn Stark - 25 episodes

Maybe the most tragic character on Game of Thrones is Stark matriarch Catelyn Stark (Michelle Fairley). She sees her husband die, her daughter held hostage, and her son Robb die. It's all too much for her take by the end of her 25-episode arc when she dies at the Red Wedding, after being introduced in the fist episode. 

Barristan Selmy - 25 episodes

Barristan Selmy (Ian McElhinney) is another close advisor to Dany. Though not as close to her as Jorah, he's still an important member of her Queen's Guard after his banishment from Joffrey's Kings Guard. His run lasted for 25 episodes until he is killed helping Grey Worm against the Sons of the Harpy.

Gregor "The Mountain" Clagane - 24 Episodes

Sandor Cleagane's brother, Gregor "The Mountain" Cleagane, is a knight of few words. Eventually, after his poisoning in a trial by combat, he's a man of no words. He's still one of the most fearsome knights in the realm. Three different actors played The Mountain throughout the 24 episodes he appeared in, Conan Stevens (Season 1) Ian Whyte (Season 2), and Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson (Seasons 4-8).

Gendry Baratheon - 24 Episodes

Although we meet the illegitimate son of King Robert, Gendry (Joe Dempsie) in Season 1, his character arc takes him in and out of the series, and despite appearing in seven of the eight seasons, he only shows up in 24 episodes. 

There are a handful of characters that just missed the cut here, like Ramsey Bolton, Robb Stark, and Stannis Baratheon, and a whole lot more fan favorites that are way down the list because they appeared in far fewer shows than you'd guess. But these are the characters that appeared the most. 

We might be in a peak time for upcoming book-to-screen adaptations, with upwards of 20 such titles coming out just this year alone. Anyone with an Apple TV+ subscription will know that the service is home to some of those works, and now viewers can watch The Last Thing He Told Me cast turn author Laura Dave’s 2021 novel into a limited series that focuses on a woman trying to find out what happened to her husband after he disappears, as she also attempts to protect her teen stepdaughter.

Jennifer Garner (Hannah)

It would be hard not to recognize Jennifer Garner or to have seen at least one of her movies or TV shows in the past 20 plus years that she’s been a major star. She first rose to prominence as the kick-ass secret agent hero Sydney Bristow on the popular ABC series, Alias, in 2001 (which netted her four consecutive Emmy nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series), and went on to a number of other high profile films and series.

On the big screen, she’s known for starring in films like the hit friends-to-lovers romance 13 Going On 30, the Daredevil spinoff, Elektra, Catch and Release, Juno, The Kingdom, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, Dallas Buyers Club, The Odd Life of Timothy Green, Love, Simon, Yes Day, and The Adam Project. Her series also include the Lena Dunham co-created 2018 HBO comedy, Camping, voicing Mama Llama on Llama Llama, and her recent role as Evie Adler on the Starz Party Down revival.

Angourie Rice (Bailey)

Star on the rise Angourie Rice will be a known face to many viewers with a Netflix subscription, as she played the young version of Rebel Wilson’s character in the Senior Year cast in 2022, but the talent is also incredibly recognizable for her role as Betty Brant in the most recent trio of Spider-Man films: Homecoming, Far from Home, and No Way Home. 

She also starred in Honor Society for Paramount+ in 2022, and has made memorable appearances in movies such as the Ryan Gosling/Russell Crowe action comedy, The Nice Guys, Sofia Coppola’s 2017 Southern Gothic thriller, The Beguiled, and series like Black Mirror and the acclaimed crime drama, Mare of Easttown.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Owen)

Millions of people with an HBO or HBO Max subscription likely know Coster-Waldau best from his eight seasons portraying bad guy-turned-basically reformed good guy (despite his continued love for his still-evil sister) Jaime Lannister as a part of the Game of Thrones cast, but he’s done dozens of films and series in his native Scandinavia, like the 2011 action thriller, Headhunters, A Taste of Hunger, Exit Plan, and 2022’s Against the Ice. 

He’s also starred in big screen fare like the horror film, Mama, the Tom Cruise-led sci-fi hit, Oblivion, rom-com The Other Woman, fantasy epic Gods of Egypt, and crime thrillers like Small Crimes, Shot Caller, and The Silencing. The actor has also appeared in movies such as Kingdom of Heaven, Wimbledon, Black Hawk Down, and Bent.

Aisha Tyler (Jules)

While Aisha Tyler got her start as a stand-up comedian, she began her move into other areas of the entertainment industry with a guest role on the Don Johnson action comedy series, Nash Bridges, in 1996. Since then, she’s become known for a number of television hosting gigs, including her 2011-2020 run co-hosting The Talk on CBS, and on the CW’s Whose Line Is It Anyway, which she began hosting in 2013.

TV fans will also know Tyler from her long-time work as Dr. Tara Lewis on Criminal Minds, as well as for her voice role as Lana Kane on the hit adult animation series, Archer. She’s also had memorable roles on shows such as Friends, Diary of a Future President, The Boys, Fear the Walking Dead, Supergirl, Two and a Half Men, The Comeback, Modern Family, and Hawaii Five-0.

Augusto Aguilera (Grady)

Augusto Aguilera is likely best known for his time as Kieran on the short-lived, but beloved by fans, ABC Family drama, Chasing Life. Early 2022 saw him star on the ABC drama Promised Land as Mateo Flores, and he’s also been seen in such shows as Made for Love, Too Old to Die Young, Snowfall, Grey’s Anatomy, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, and Major Crimes. The actor also appeared in the 2018 movie, The Predator. 

Geoff Stults (Jake)

Geoff Stults got his breakout role, as Ben Kinkirk, on 7th Heaven in 2001, portraying the character for five years. He then went on to star on shows like The Finder, October Road, and Enlisted, while guest starring or recurring on series such as The Company You Keep, Guilty Party, Cowboy Bebop, Little Fires Everywhere, Grace and Frankie, The Odd Couple, Zoo, How I Met Your Mother, Bones, Stargirl, and many others. 

He also appeared as Craig in the movie, Wedding Crashers, and has been in other films like The Break-Up, She’s Out of My League, J. Edgar, 12 Strong, and Sierra Burgess Is a Loser.

John Harlan Kim (Bobby)

John Harlan Kim will probably be best known to TV fans for his work as Albert Han on the Fox's long-running first-responder series, 9-1-1, and for his four seasons playing thief Ezekiel Jones on the TNT fantasy adventure show, The Librarians, but there are several other series and movies fans could have seen him in since he got his start on camera in 2010’s The Pacific mini-series.

The actor played Toby in Netflix’s popular 2022 romantic drama, Purple Hearts, portrayed Agent Park on the CW’s mystery drama Nancy Drew, and has also appeared in shows like Twenties, Pandora, Hawaii Five-0, and NCIS: Los Angeles, along with lending his talents to the 2021 Denzel Washington movie, The Little Things.

With such a strong cast, a story that comes straight from a #1 New York Times Bestseller, and an adaptation that's right from the author of that very novel, it won’t be much of a surprise if The Last Thing He Told Me quickly becomes known as one of the best Apple TV+ shows that subscribers can watch.

Game of Thrones may be over, but the world of Westeros lives on, as the fantasy series prequel House of the Dragon smashed records and soared to great success last summer. Naturally, as the HOTD cast rose to fame, and people were immersed into the GOT world once again, the audience started to wonder what the Game of Thrones cast thought about the hit prequel. Understandably, the original cast members who have been asked about House of the Dragon have had a hard time getting into the series. However, each of them has also been enthusiastic about the GOT legacy living on, and are thrilled about the success of its prequel. 

Here’s what some of the OG Game of Thrones cast have to say about House of the Dragon, and if they’ve watched the new GOT series. 

Emilia Clarke – Daenerys Targaryen

It felt inevitable that Emilia Clarke would get asked about House of the Dragon, considering her character’s familial connection to the characters in the prequel. The actress played Daenerys Targaryen on Game of Thrones, and this new series is about the Mother of Dragons' ancestors. Sadly, she hasn’t tuned in to learn about her fantasy family’s history yet. 

When asked if she had seen the new HBO series, Emilia Clarke was quick to say she can’t watch House of the Dragon. While I’m a bit bummed she hasn’t tuned in, I totally understand her reasoning, as she said:

She continued to explain why she won't watch House of the Dragon, saying:

While I’m bummed she’s avoiding the show, I get why she hasn’t watched yet. I think the comparison to a high school reunion for a class you weren’t in makes a lot of sense. However, I hope she’s able to watch the Targaryen story eventually. 

Kit Harington – Jon Snow

Emilia Clarke might not be able to watch the show, but Kit Harington hasn’t totally dismissed the idea of streaming the Game of Thrones prequel. The Jon Snow actor admitted that he’s tried to watch House of the Dragon, but can’t watch it all at once, explaining: 

I understand why it’d be difficult to watch House of the Dragon. Seeing King’s Landing and the Iron Throne as well as the costumes that resemble GOT wardrobe would likely cause some wild deja vu. I’d assume that since these actors lived with these characters and this world for so long, and worked on sets like the HOTD locations seeing them back on screen, but not physically being there would be odd. 

While Harington finds the show “hard” to watch at the moment, he still loves it and the fantasy world. That appreciation for the series was clear here, and in a broader sense, considering the actor is set to reprise his role as Jon Snow in a spin-off about his legendary GOT character, it makes sense that he still loves the GOT universe. 

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau – Jaime Lannister

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has also weighed in on the conversation and admitted that he hasn’t watched House of the Dragon just yet. While chatting with EW, the actor behind Jaime Lannister explained that while he hasn’t seen the show, he has seen the eerily similar opening credits. The actor said:

I was also thrown off watching the pilot for House of the Dragon and hearing the Game of Thrones theme song playing. It really throws you back into the world of Westeros with no warning, and I’d assume that when you were in the cast of GOT hearing that song would evoke some strong memories. 

However, even though Coster-Waldau said he can’t bring himself to watch the show at the moment, he did admit he’d like to watch it eventually, saying:

Like Clarke and Harington, Coster-Waldau is also happy about the show’s success, and appreciates that the world of Westeros lives on. Hopefully, he’s able to find it in himself to tune in eventually because it’s a great series. 

The overall consensus seems to be that the Game of Thrones cast is thrilled about post-GOT projects, however, it’s difficult to tune in and be taken back into a world they are so familiar with. Hopefully, the OG cast will be able to watch House of the Dragon eventually, because it’s a great show, and I think all us Game of Thrones fans would love to hear what the cast thinks of the prequel series.

On December 28, 2001, Ridley Scott released one of the loudest, most violent, and most realistic  war movies with Black Hawk Down. Josh Hartnett (Matt Eversmann)

Josh Hartnett was one of most bankable young stars in Hollywood by the time he joined the Black Hawk Down cast as Staff Sergeant Matt Eversmann in 2001, with movies like The Faculty, Halloween H20: 20 Years Later, and Pearl Harbor under his belt.

More recently, Josh Hartnett has continued to find success on both the big screen and small screen, with everything from Wrath of Man to Ida Red and Paradise Lost to Exterminate All the Brutes coming out since 2020. The former teen heartthrob will next appear in The Long Way Home and The Fear Index.

Eric Bana (Norm “Hoot” Gibson)

Already a massive star in his native Australia by the time Black Hawk Down came around in December 2001, Eric Bana got one of his first big breaks in Hollywood with his portrayal of Delta Force Sergeant First Class Norm “Hoot” Gibson.

In the years following the release of Ridley Scott’s gritty war drama, Eric Bana appeared in Hulk, Troy, Munich, and Star Trek, and has continued to remain a busy actor with recent movies like King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, The Dry, and Back to the Outback. He’ll next appear in the upcoming drama Blueback.

Ewan McGregor (John “Grimesey” Grimes)

Ewan McGregor gave a tremendous performance as Army Rangers Specialist John “Grimesey” Grimes in Black Hawk Down, a movie that came out in the middle of one of the Scottish actor’s most successful runs (the film was released between Moulin Rouge! and Star Wars: Episode II — Attack of the Clones).

No surprise here, but Ewan McGregor has remained just as successful and just as prolific in the two decades since he went from a desk clerk to combat soldier, with Doctor Sleep, Birds of Prey, and The Birthday Cake all coming out since late 2019. McGregor will also take on the role of his famous Jedi master once more in the upcoming Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Tom Sizemore (Danny McKnight)

Just a few years after Saving Private Ryan and only months following the release of Pearl Harbor, Tom Sizemore tried his hand at the military drama genre with his portrayal of Colonel Danny McKnight in Black Hawk Down. 

Despite extensive legal trouble over the years, Tom Sizemore has remained one of the busiest figures in Hollywood (he appeared in 28 movies between 2017 and 2018), and has continue to appear in multiple film and TV projects like Twin Peaks, Adam, and Central Park Dark.

William Fichtner (Jeff Sanderson)

Following successes like Heat, Armageddon, and The Perfect Storm, William Fichtner went on to portray Sergeant First Class Jeff Sanderson in Black Hawk Down.

Here more recently, William Fichtner has shown up in everything from 12 Strong to The Space Between on the film side of things with appearances on TV including Mom, Veep, and Corporate. At some point in the near future, Fichtner will try his luck again at the small screen with the upcoming Peacock series Joe Exotic which is to feature the actor as the Tiger King’s former producer Richard Kirkham.

Sam Shepard (William Garrison)

The late Sam Shepard, who found a great deal of success as an actor, playwright, author, and director, portrayed Major General William F. Garrison in Black Hawk Down.

In the years prior to his 2017 death at the age of 73, Sam Shepard appeared in Midnight Special, Never Here, and Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story by Martin Scorsese (though the film wasn’t released until 2019). He also appeared on the Netflix series Bloodline shortly before his passing.

Jason Isaacs (Mike Steele)

Jason Isaacs, who made a name for himself as one of Hollywood’s leading villainous actors with The Patriot and later the Harry Potter franchise, showed up in a less evil role in Black Hawk Down as Captain Mike Steele.

More recently, Jason Isaacs has appeared on Star Trek: Discovery, Sex Education, and Castlevania, as well as movies like Mass, Scoob!, and Hotel Mumbai. Isaacs has multiple projects in the works, including Spinning Gold and Henry VIII: Man, Monarch, Monster.

Ewen Bremner (Shawn Nelson)

One of the many actors who appeared in both Pearl Harbor and Black Hawk Down, Ewen Bremner shows up in the latter as Specialist Shawn Nelson.

Over the course of the past five years, Ewen Bremner has appeared in T2 Trainspotting (reprising his role from the 1996 original), Wonder Woman, First Cow, and Creation Stories to name a few. He will soon appear in the upcoming HBO Max series Our Flag Means Death.

Orlando Bloom (Todd Blackburn)

Just as he was becoming an overnight sensation with the release of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Orlando Bloom took on another memorable role as Private First Class Todd Blackburn in Black Hawk Down.

Since the December 2001 release of the violent war drama, Orlando Bloom has become an international superstar with franchises like Pirates of the Caribbean and The Hobbit (where he reprised his LOTR role). Bloom is currently one of the leads on the Amazon series Carnival Row.

Tom Hardy (Lance Twombly)

Not long after he found a place on the Band of Brothers cast, Tom Hardy stuck with military dramas as Specialist Lance Twombly in his feature film debut. 

Since then, Tom Hardy has become and remained one of the most versatile actors in Hollywood balancing comic book adaptations like The Dark Knight Rises and Venom with dramas like The Revenant and Dunkirk. Hardy will next appear in Gareth Evans upcoming crime thriller Havoc.

Kim Coates (Chris Wex)

Already an established name in show business by the time he joined the Black Hawk Down cast as Master Sergeant Chris Wex, Kim Coates has continued to find success in film and TV in the past 20 years.

The Sons of Anarchy and Prison Break star has recently appeared on shows like Tangled: The Series, The Crew, and Van Helsing, as well as movies like Fantasy Island, See for Me, and Donkeyhead.

Ioan Gruffudd (John Beales)

Ioan Gruffudd had already appeared in movies like Titanic and Another Life by the time he was cast as Lieutenant John Beales in Black Hawk Down, but his career would take off even more years after with Fantastic Four (and its 2007 sequel), King Arthur, and W.

More recently, Ioan Gruffudd has appeared in movies like The Professor and the Madman, Buttons, and Ava, as well as TV shows like Liar and Harrow.

Hugh Dancy (Kurt “Doc” Schmid)

Hugh Dancy made his feature film debut in Black Hawk Down as Sergeant First Class Kurt “Doc” Schmid, but it certainly wouldn’t be his last.

Following the success of The Jane Austen Book Club, Confessions of a Shopaholic, and Martha Marcy May Marlene, Hugh Dancy landed roles in more recent film productions like Late Night and the soon-to-be-released Downton Abbey: A New Era. Dancy will also appear on Law & Order Season 21 in early 2022..

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Gary Gordon)

Before he became known for his portrayal of Jaime Lannister on Game of Thrones, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau took on the role of Delta Force operative Master Sergeant Gary Gordon in Black Hawk Down.

Since completing his role in the divisive Game of Thrones Season 8, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has portrayed the titular character in a 2020 production of Macbeth, The Silencing, and A Taste of Hunger, with several upcoming projects on the way including Against The Ice and God is a Bullet.

Jeremy Piven (Clifton Wolcott)

Though more associated with comedic roles, Jeremy Piven showed up in Black Hawk Down as Clifton Wolcott, the pilot of the doomed Super 61 helicopter. 

In the years following the release of Black Hawk Down, Jeremy Piven would land one of his most iconic roles when he was cast as Ari Gold on the HBO series Entourage (and the 2015 film adaptation). Recently, Piven has shown up in Last Call, American Night, and the soon-to-be-released All-Star Weekend alongside Jamie Foxx.

Ty Burrell (Timothy A. Wilkinson)

And then there is Ty Burrell, who has a brief appearance as Technical Sergeant Timothy A. Wilkinson in Black Hawk Down.

In the years following the film’s release, Ty Burrell would find success, first in Zack Snyder’s 2004 Dawn of the Dead remake and then on a much larger scale as Phil Dunphy on the long-running Modern Family. Since the landmark series completed its run in 2020, Burrell has voiced Jack Harris on the animated series Duncanville.

This is just a little more than a dozen of the actors who appeared on the Black Hawk Down cast, as including every single name would take a very long time. If you’ve been paying even casual attention to the movie industry, you’ll see that superhero movies are everywhere. And given the popularity of DC’s Batman, he’s been adapted for film countless times throughout the years. The next adaptation is Matt Reeves’ The Batman, and some epic fan art has imagined Game of Thrones alum Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as the iconic villain Two-Face.

The Batman will be set outside of the main DCEU timeline, with Matt Reeves focusing on a lesser experienced version of the title character played by Robert Pattinson. Bruce Wayne will face off against a trio of heroes, but fans are already theorizing about what might come in a possible future. That includes seeing Jaime Lannister as Two-Face, check it out below:

I mean, how cool is that? Two-Face is a beloved member of Batman’s rogue gallery, so he seems like an obvious choice for a possible The Batman sequel. And while there’s been no indication of Matt Reeves’ plans for the future, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau obviously has his share of experience with genre work.

While information and footage about The Batman is limited, anticipation has been steadily building since Robert Pattinson was announced as the title character. The teaser showed Matt Reeves ultra-realistic vision for the project, and which will feature the origin stories of Riddler, Penguin, and Catwoman. We’ll just have to see which character are introduced if Warner Bros. moves forward with a sequel.

The pressure is on for The Batman, as Matt Reeves’ DC debut has been a very long time coming. Robert Pattinson also has big shoes to fill after the various actors that preceded him, most recently Ben Affleck. Luckily for Pattinson, he’ll be working with a killer cast including Paul Dano, Zoe Kravitz, Colin Farrell, Andy Serkis, and Jeffery Wright.

Jamie Foxx is a man who knows his way around action-packed movies, from Law Abiding Citizen and Django Unchained to The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and last year’s Project Power. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (no, he’s not dead) is also quite well-versed in playing characters thrust into dangerous situations, most notably from his time as Jaime Lannister on HBO’s Game of Thrones. Now these two, along with several other actors, will be teaming for a new action-thriller titled God Is A Bullet.

Nick Cassavetes, the director of movies like The Notebook and Alpha Dog, has been tapped to helm and write the script for God Is A Bullet, making this his first directorial endeavor since 2014’s The Other Woman. Based on the same-named book by Boston Teran, the story follows vice detective Bob Hightower, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau’s character, whose ex-wife is murdered by a santanic cult that’s also kidnapped his daughter. Becoming frustrated with the botched official investigations, Hightower quits his job and goes undercover to infiltrate the cult so he can find its leader. Jamie Foxx is reportedly playing “The Ferryman,” who is a “pivotal” supporting character.

Along with Jamie Foxx and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, God Is A Bullet’s cast will also include Mad Men’s January Jones, It Follows’ Maika Monroe and A Star is Born’s Andrew Dice Clay. Monroe will play Case Hardin, an escapee from the cult who helps out Bob Hightower, but no information was provided about Jones and Clay’s characters. Preproduction has already began in Mexico City, and cameras are expected to start rolling on May 24. Here’s what Nick Cassavetes had to say to Deadline about tackling God Is A Bullet:

I am excited to get God Is A Bullet into production with my friend and producer/financier, Michael Mendelsohn. It’s a magnificent, ultra-dark work that is somehow both intensely frightening and literate, inspired by true events, with the most amazing cast of actors.

The announcement of Jamie Foxx’s participation in God Is A Bullet follows his eventful 2020. Along with the aforementioned Project Power, which premiered on Netflix, he also starred in Pixar’s Soul, which recently won two Golden Globes and has been nominated for three Oscars. Foxx’s other recent credits include Baby Driver, Robin Hood and Just Mercy, while in addition to God Is A Bullet, his upcoming projects include producing Geechee, starring alongside John Boyega in They Cloned Tyrone and reprising Electro for Spider-Man: No Way Home.

As for Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, while Game of Thrones understandably took up a lot of his time last decade, he’s also starred in some movies here and there, including Oblivion, Gods of Egypt, Shot Caller and Domino. Later this year, he’ll star in the Netflix movie Against the Ice, but God Is A Bullet sounds like a good platform for him to draw in new fans.

Game of Thrones titan Diana Rigg has passed away at 82, and her co-stars from the HBO behemoth are mourning her death. For four seasons, Rigg memorably portrayed the razor-tongued fan-favorite, Olenna Tyrell, on Game of Thrones, from its third season until its seventh. The cast has summarily taken to social media to pay tribute to the acting legend.

First up was Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who paid tribute to his former co-star on both Twitter and Instagram. On the latter, Coster-Waldau honored Diana Rigg with a moving message about working with her. Coster-Waldau’s Jaime and Rigg’s Olenna shared more than one game-changing Game of Thrones scene. Here is what Coster-Waldau posted:

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau ended up sharing an image from Diana Rigg’s last scene on Game of Thrones. Coster-Waldau’s Jaime gave Rigg’s Olenna a painless poison to end her life. After she took it, Olenna revealed that she was the one who poisoned Jaime's eldest son, Joffrey. Her iconic follow-up? “Tell Cersei. I want her to know it was me.” The scene went viral thanks to her unforgettable delivery of the line.

It was one of her many memorable Game of Thrones moments, as confrontations were common with Olenna Tyrell. Following the murders of her granddaughter and grandson at Cersei’s hand, Olenna switched sides to Daenerys Targaryen’s. Already a member of that team was Nathalie Emmanuel’s Missandei. On Twitter, Emmanuel paid loving tribute to her co-star, posting:

John Bradley, who played Jon Snow’s best friend Samwell Tarly, also remembered Diana Rigg. Sam and Olenna's journeys kept them on different paths in Game of Thrones, but that did not stop Bradley from saying beautiful things about his fellow Game of Thrones alum. Bradley shared his affection for Rigg with a tender tribute to her. See it for yourself:

Mark Gatiss and Diana Rigg both made their final Game of Thrones appearance in the series’ penultimate season. Gatiss’ Tycho Nestoris was a reliable presence in the series (along with Rigg’s Olenna) as the Iron Bank’s representative. Honoring Rigg, Gatiss wrote:

“Be a dragon” is the advice that Olenna Tyrell gave to Daenerys Targaryen, having allied with the “House of the Dragon.” Little did she know how far Daenerys would end up following Olenna’s suggestion. The quote turned out to be a turning point/omen for what was to come, a sign of how influential Diana Rigg’s character was on Game of Thrones. Rigg will be missed.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is alive and well and knows all about the Game of Thrones fan petition to redo Season 8. In fact, the actor went a step further than acknowledging he knew about it. Coster-Waldau, who played Jaime Lannister throughout the series’ run, revealed that he wanted to sign it. At this point, you are probably wondering why.

Was it so he could redo Season 8’s much-hyped and controversial Battle of Winterfell? Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has acknowledged Game of Thrones’ co-showrunner was ticked off about it too. Or was it to redo the ending altogether? Coster-Waldau revealed his interesting take on signing the petition, telling Variety:

The cast of Game of Thrones has periodically spoken about the fan petition, which as of this writing, has garnered nearly 2 million views. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau’s comments regarding the petition and why he would have signed it echoes some of his past statements. When the cast showed up at last year’s Comic-Con, Coster-Waldau indicated the show ending in the first place was part of what made it tough.

It is an intriguing thought. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau was never at any risk to reprise his role as Jaime Lannister for a redo of Season 8. Following the petition’s tremendous response, HBO acknowledged that execs never seriously considered remaking it. Game of Thrones fans just have to deal with the reality of what is and will likely forever be.

In the wake of Game of Thrones’ controversy, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau’s co-stars have spoken out. Coster-Waldau’s long-time screen partner Lena Headey expressed her conflicted feelings over Cersei’s final storyline. Meanwhile, Coster-Waldau’s other co-stars have not minced words over the petition. Nathalie Emmanuel took issue with fans asking “for receipts on art,” while Carice Van Houten called fans “ungrateful,” considering everything that came before the ending.

Gemma Whelan, who played Theon Greyjoy’s sister Yara, recently said she still thinks fans got the ending wrong. Most of the controversy among Game of Thrones fans seems to ping from Season 8’s turning point for Daenerys as she succumbed to her worst impulses. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau’s final storyline as Jaime Lannister also garnered some pushback.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau may not have to worry about fielding questions about Game of Thrones for too much longer. Talk surrounding Game of Thrones’ prequel series, House of the Dragon, should start to pick up. Casting has already started on the much-anticipated series.

In the meantime, Game of Thrones fans are left to wonder what could have happened if a lot of things were different about the ending. There are still some things bothering me about it. For now, though, you can currently stream every Game of Thrones season on HBO Max. Clearly James Gunn was planting some seeds for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, although it's unclear exactly when these seeds will bloom. But it's only a matter of time, and he's an extremely powerful character who can put even the strongest of the MCU's heroes to task.

In the comics, Adam Warlock is created by a group of researchers attempting to create the perfect human specimen. After originally facing of against heroes like Thor, he eventually became a hero on the page. The character is extremely powerful, with abilities that include superhuman strength, speed, agility, durability, flight, energy manipulation, and even kills in magic. There's a ton of narrative threads to pull in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so it should be interesting to see when Adam Warlock actually appears, and which actor lands the role.

In recent years, several prominent actors from the Game Of Thrones cast have popped up in some very notable DC and Marvel franchises. You have the likes of Jason Momoa portraying Aquaman in the DCEU, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey in the two most recent X-Men movies, Maisie Williams as Wolfsbane in The New Mutants (which is finally coming out, by the way), and Kit Harrington and Richard Madden as Dane Whitman and Ikaris, respectively, in the upcoming The Eternals. But what about other major players from the hit HBO series? When will people like Emilia Clarke and Natalie Dormer follow suit and wind up portraying a superhero of their own?

While we don't know when or even if other Game Of Thrones stars will jump over to the superhero business, it never hurts to play around with the idea of some of the biggest fan favorites donning a mask and cape in order to fight crime in DC, Marvel and beyond. So while I have your attention, let's take a look at a few superheroes that the cast of George R.R. Martin's fantasy epic would be perfect to play.

Emilia Clarke - Spider-Woman

After Daenerys Targaryen went from one of everyone's favorite characters to one of the most despised in a matter of episodes during Game Of Thrones Season 8, Emilia Clarke could use a rebound back into the fan favorite-category. And what better way than casting her as Spider-Woman, specifically Gwen Stacy. Aside from the fact that Clarke's character had a head of blonde hair throughout the series (like Gwen Stacy in the comics and various adaptations), the actress also has the perfect balance of authority and innocence, which could come in handy with the various plots if Spider-Woman is introduced in an upcoming Spider-Man movie.

Natalie Dormer - Sue Storm

Despite the fact that Natalie Dormer has already appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (a minor role in Captain America: The First Avenger), the former Game Of Thrones and current Penny Dreadful: City Of Angels star could do a remarkable job at handling Sue Storm, a.k.a. The Invisible Woman of The Fantastic Four fame. Through her appearances as Margaery Tyrell and Magda, Dormer has proved time and time again that she is able to effectively channel both compassion and anger, two qualities that could bring another dynamic to one of the most decorated and respected characters in Marvel Comics.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau - Darkman

Sam Raimi's 1990 cult classic Darkman centers around a scientist-turned-masked vigilante who develops superhuman abilities following a vicious attack by the mob and a failed treatment. This would be a perfect role for Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, especially after his turn as Jaime Lannister on Game Of Thrones. Turning villain to hero as the show went on, Coster-Waldau is well-equipped to handle the bruised, battered and emotionally distraught Darkman if a remake or sequel were ever produced. And as we've seen in his multiple combat scenes over the course of the show's eight seasons, the Danish actor is more than up to task of fighting crime in the dark of night.

Nathalie Emmanuel - Batwoman

With the shocking departure of Ruby Rose as Batwoman in the CW series, the role is up for grabs. If the showrunners are looking for a qualified and fun candidate to don the cape and cowl, Nathalie Emmanuel could be the perfect person for the role. Up until the emotionally-charged death of her character Missandei halfway through Game Of Thrones Season 8, Emmanuel was one of the best parts of the series. Quiet, methodical and fearless in her performance, Emmanuel has everything that is needed to pull off one of DC's most notable recent characters. And if you have any questions about Emmanuel's ability to handle herself in a large and demanding role, just look at her work in the Fast & Furious franchise.

Gwendoline Christie - She-Hulk

When she joined the Game Of Thrones cast in Season 2 as Brienne of Tarth, Gwendoline Christie quickly became one of the best written and acted characters on the HBO series. Since then, she's shown up in everything from The Hunger Games to Star Wars, giving the English actress plenty of time to pull off a number of different roles. Looking at her track record of portraying physically demanding characters in a number of properties, Christie would be perfect for the role of She-Hulk. With a combination of strength and dynamic emotions, the veteran of stage, television and film would add dimension to the character.

Kristofer Hivju - The Thing

Speaking of characters with imposing size, strength and wit, there is no one from the Game Of Thrones better cast to portray Ben Grimm, a.k.a. The Thing, than Kristofer Hivju. Sure, there are larger actors from the series, but I don't think anyone could pull off the anger, pain and humor of the Fantastic Four's rocky enforcer. Just try imagining Tormund Giantsbane yelling out "It's Clobberin' Time" before running into a fight. An actor of Hivju's ability would be able to emote the sorry and frustration of not being able to have loving relationships after being trapped in his mutated form. The range of emotions and ridiculous strength would make this ideal casting at its best.

Joe Dempsie - Nightwing

In the early seasons Game Of Thrones, Joe Dempsie portrayed Gendry, the bastard son of the fallen King Robert Baratheon who later earned his house name after helping defeat the White Walkers at the Battle of Winterfell in Season 8. After being able to faithfully pull of the role of a blacksmith, fighter and leader throughout the series, Dempsie would be perfect to take on the role of Dick Grayson, a.k.a. Nightwing in a future DC film. I mean, he even looks like the modern versions of the Batman's former protege-turned-ally.

Isaac Hempstead Wright - Jimmy Olsen

And last, but certainly not least, there's Isaac Hemstead Wright, who played Bran Stark for all but one season on Game Of Thrones. From the adventurous youngest Stark child to the Lord of the Six Kingdoms, audiences practically watched Hempstead Wright grow up in front of their very eyes. And despite the character growing into a young adult, Hempstead Wright never lost that sense of innocence and youth, which would make him an ideal candidate to portray Jimmy Olsen. Over the course of the character's history, Olsen has often become a vessel for other superheroes, which is quite similar to the powers possessed by Bran in Game Of Thrones. And while it would be hard to fit that into a new Superman movie, it could work.

Those are just eight of the former members of the Game Of Thrones cast who would be perfect to play any number of superheroes. One of the most widely acclaimed narrative-driven video games of the modern era, the post-apocalyptic action-adventure The Last of Us is set to become a TV series. It's happening at HBO, where the game's terror and dark drama will almost definitely stay intact during the adaptation process. It's still early in the pre-production process, but fans everywhere are already thinking about who creator Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) and his fellow producers will cast as The Last of Us' two lead characters, the rugged Texan Joel and the whip-smart teenager Ellie.

To spin such a beloved video game for TV, HBO will likely look to cast performers with a wide range of skills, since The Last of Us is packed with pulse-pounding action, emotional beats and nuanced dialogue that video games so rarely utilize. In the post-outbreak story, where humans turn into aggro-monsters dubbed the "Infected," Joel is a low-nonsense smuggler tasked with bringing 19-year-old Ellie to a rebel group's base. The situation gets particularly tense once others discover Ellie may hold answers to curing the infection.

And that's just Act I, with tons of deadly mayhem and stressful situations going down during Joel and Ellie's long journey. So in no particular order and with no particular combinations in mind, here are our ideal picks for who HBO and Craig Mazin should cast as Joel and Ellie.

Hugh Jackman

Hugh Jackman's many years as the X-Men movies' Wolverine would have already made him a great choice to play The Last of Us' Joel, claws down, but it was specifically his gritty turn in 2017's Logan that truly sealed the deal. Jackman can play a badass grizzled survivor with the best of them, and he's always maintained excellent chemistry with younger costars in any project he's in, so there would be little worry about him clashing with whoever gets cast as Ellie. As well, HBO is great at wooing big screen actors to cable, and since Jackman hasn't taken on any regular TV roles since the earliest years of his career, The Last of Us would be an ideal project to win him back.

Kaitlyn Dever

Kaitlyn Dever's years on Tim Allen's Last Man Standing arguably don't give her huge advantages with The Last of Us, beyond displaying her talent for creating levity, which the game features on occasion. Netflix's miniseries Unbelievable, on the other hand, specifically showed off Dever's widespread talents as a hardened survivor, though in a completely different sense. Upon first playing The Last Of Us, it's possible that Justified fans were reminded of Dever's hard-nosed Loretta McCready. And beyond winning performances in films like Short Term 12, Booksmart and more, Dever also has game cred for voicing the young Cassie Drake in Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. (Fun fact: though these picks aren't meant to be paired off, Dever did play Hugh Jackman's daughter in 2018's political drama The Front Runner.)

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau

Sure, Danish actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has been in a bunch of action-oriented projects such as Black Hawk Down, Oblivion, Gods of Egypt and more. But let's not fool ourselves about why he's automatically on many fans' shortlists for The Last of Us' Joel. Obviously, it's because he spent 8 seasons kicking ass and taking names on HBO's fantasy epic Game of Thrones as the loyal-to-a-fault Jaime Lannister. While the characters don't share a lot of direct comparisons, it all comes down to Coster-Waldau's talents for portraying a badass warrior who goes into every battle with the same level of bravery and confidence, regardless of what's coming. His penchant from growing scruffy beards is but a bonus.

Hailee Steinfeld

Though horror-tinged projects rarely get any awards attention, The Last of Us landing at HBO gives it as good a chance as any to earn such accolades, and adding Academy Award-winning actors like Hailee Steinfeld is another good way to do it. Steinfeld took home the Best Supporting Actress trophy for True Grit at just 13 years old, and it's not a huge stretch to say that Ellie shares some characteristics with that film's Mattie Ross. Since then, Steinfeld got more familiar with action roles in Term Life and Bumblebee, and embraced her inner Spider-Woman for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse. Having recently shifted to TV for the titular role in Apple TV+'s Dickinson, Steinfeld is now more comfortable on the small screen, though Emily Dickinson isn't exactly an Ellie replica.

Justin Theroux

Often opting for broadly comedic roles in projects like the Zoolander films, Parks and Recreation and The Spy Who Dumped Me, – as well as rando cameos in The Last Jedi and Joker – actor Justin Theroux always stands out when crossing into more dramatic territories. In particular, Theroux earned miles-high praise for his work on HBO's supernatural apocalypse-adjacent drama The Leftovers. (The HBO-friendly actor also appeared in Sex and the City, Six Feet Under, and John Adams.) As The Leftovers' Kevin Garvey, Theroux played a cop leading his family and others through extremely dire situations, and still infused the role with warmth, humor and wide-eyed fearfulness. The format-breaking episodes "International Assassin" and "The Most Powerful Man in the World (and His Identical Twin Brother)" encapsulate why he'd be particularly superb as The Last Of Us' Joel.

Emily Scanlen

Another HBO veteran with talent to spare, Emily Scanlen jumped from a recurring role in the Australian soap Home and Away to a stunning breakout turn in the miniseries Sharp Objects, easily rising to the acting heights of co-stars Amy Adams and Golden Globe winner Patricia Clarkson. As the mentally abused Amma Crellin, Scanlen masterfully shifted from sycophantic mommy's girl to rebellious deviant and back again, and never lost the character's innate sense of innocence. Following Sharp Objects, Scanlen aced the role of Beth March in Greta Gerwig's Little Women, and in 2019's Babyteeth, she played an ailing teen who lived like there was no tomorrow, which is a sentiment that The Last of Us' Ellie knows all too well.

Frank Grillo

When Frank Grillo digs down into action and thriller projects, he legitimately looks like a video game character come to life. From his minor role in The Shield to his starring role in The Purge franchise to playing Brock "Crossbones" Rumlow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Grillo is always in beast-mode, and The Last of Us' Infected would be wise to steer clear. It's Audience Network's MMA-centered drama Kingdom that perhaps shows Grillo's potential as the father-figure Joel, as he plays a retired MMA fighter trying to keep his family from splintering. The actor boasts the necessary physical acting skills, as well as the ability to find emotional headspaces that many other action stars cannot.

Sophia Lillis

When it comes to starring in dark Hollywood projects that never lose sight of their characters' humanity, Sophia Lillis already has a high batting average that makes her a solid fit for The Last of Us. In the pair of films based on Stephen King's IT, Lillis stood tall as the first film's lone female star in a Bev-y of male co-stars, which then led to her the lead role in Netflix's recent coming-of-age quasi-superhero adaptation I Am Not Okay with This. As a teen harboring a secret that would completely compromise her existence, Lillis' Sydney Novak travels a somewhat parallel path to The Last of Us' Ellie, and coincidentally enough, both characters also fall on the gay or bisexual side of the sexuality spectrum. (Extra points to Lillis for also recurring in HBO's Sharp Objects.)

Nathan Fillion

For a long time, Firefly and Castle star Nathan Fillion campaigned to play Nathan Drake in a live-action adaptation of the Uncharted video game, only for Tom Holland to get cast after years of false starts. It didn't stop Fillion from proving his worth in an Uncharted fan film in 2018, though. So even though Uncharted and The Last of Us don't share a lot in common narratively, there's no doubt that Fillion could and would be a perfect fit to play Joel. (Fillion mighthave just a little too much inherent charm, for the role, but still.) As the star of ABC's drama The Rookie, Fillion might not have the schedule room to fit an HBO production, but maybe he could use all that charm to make something work.

Cassady McClincy

While Cassady McClincy might not be as much of an overall household name as others on this list, her placement is perhaps the most germane. She's currently starring in The Walking Dead as the character Lydia, who has had to fight to prove her worth to the show's protagonists after cutting ties with her violently villainous mother. Despite both characters having experienced post-apocalyptic life, Lydia is actually quite different from Ellie, both in personality and in motivations. That could work to McClincy's advantage, though, since it would give her the opportunity to play someone more confident and self-assured. That said, Lydia's kinship with Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Negan does offers slight reflections of Ellie and Joel's relationship, so there's familiarity there. (Is it too late for me to add Morgan as a choice to play Joel?)

The long and arduous wait for The Last of Us 2 will presumably be over on May 29, 2020, barring any unforeseen delays, and it'll be some time after that when the hard work will kick off in bringing Joel and Ellie and other characters to life through HBO's adaptation. Game of Thrones is one of the most popular television series of the last few decades. The series already had a legion of built-in loyal fans because of George R.R Martin’s equally popular A Song of Ice and Fire book series. It became a massive pop culture hit and so popular that it broke HBO viewership records, made the cast household names, and received many TV award nominations. Game of Thrones brought HBO so much success that the network expanded the world of Game of Thrones with a spin-off: House of The Dragon, and had plans for a Jon Snow spin-off series. Despite the unfortunate cancelled plans for the Jon Snow spin-off, House of the Dragon is going strong. It is currently airing its second season and has a third season on the way.

No matter how people feel about the final season of the series, Game of Thrones carved its permanent place in TV history. It’ll be a series that people discover and love for many decades. The Game of Thrones cast has gained lifelong fans who want to know the latest news on the actors who played the Starks, Lannisters, Targaryens, and those in between. 

Since the Game of Thrones series finale, the cast members have remained busy booking gigs, starting families, and growing their empires.

Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister)

Peter Dinklage played the wisecracking and resourceful Tyrion Lannister. Tyrion was shunned by his father Tywin (Charles Dance) and sister Cersei (Lena Headey), but had a close relationship with his brother Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau). Tyrion often found himself as an adviser for those in charge. He was an advocate for women and wine. Peter Dinklage won four Emmy awards for his work as Tyrion Lannister.

Following Game of Thrones’ end, Dinklage returned to The Angry Birds Movie franchise by lending his voice to The Angry Birds Movie 2. He also played a fictionalized version of himself in the Between Two Ferns movie. He appeared with an ensemble cast in I Care A Lot, a movie with a memorable ending. 

He also appeared in The Croods: A New Age, Cyrano, American Dreamer, Thor: Love and Thunder, and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. His upcoming projects include Brothers and Thicket, which is based on Joe R. Lansdale’s book of the same name. He also plays Dr. Dillamond in Wicked. In 2021, Variety reported that he would lend his voice to one of the leads in This Was Our Pact. 

Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister)

Lena Headey as Cersei played one-half of the infamous Lannister twins. The woman who would be queen inherited her father’s ruthlessness. Cersei hated everyone and everything, except her brother Jaime and her children. Lena Headey received several Emmy nominations for her Cersei Lannister portrayal, but never received the Emmy that she deserved.

In 2019, Headey had a supporting role in the critically acclaimed movie Fighting with My Family. She starred opposite Nick Frost, Florence Pugh, and Vince Vaughn. She plays the mother to Karen Gillan’s character in Gunpowder Milkshake, a movie about an estranged mother-daughter assassin team. Gunpowder Milkshake also stars Angela Bassett, Carla Gugino, Michelle Yeoh, and Paul Giamatti. Headey lends her voice to Kevin Smith’s animated Masters of the Universe: Revelation. 

Headey has also done voice-over work for Infinity Train, Wizards: Tales of Arcadia, and The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. She appeared in White House Plumbers and co-starred in Beacon 23. Headey’s upcoming projects include Long Pork, Ballistic, and the upcoming Netflix series The Abandons. 

Kit Harington (Jon Snow)

Kit Harington played the king of knowing nothing, Jon Snow on Game of Thrones. He was the bastard son of Ned Stark (Sean Bean), at least that’s what everyone assumed until the truth came out. Jon Snow was a member of the Night’s Watch. He tried to live his life by a code of morals and a sense of duty.

From 2018 to 2019, Harington appeared at the Vaudeville Theatre in London in the first West End production of the play True West. He then appeared as Henry V in Henry V at Donmar Warehouse. Harington voiced the character of Eret in How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World. He played Dane Whitman in Eternals. This project reunited him with his former Game of Thrones brother Richard Madden. Harington also stars in Baby Ruby and Blood for Dust. 

His next projects include the film Eternal Return and Season 3 of Industry. In July 2024, he appears in the movie The Beast Within. In 2024, he bared it all to the theatre world in the West End production of Slave Play.

Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen)

Emilia Clarke played the presumed last remaining Targaryen, and some would claim the rightful queen of the Iron Throne. Game of Thrones followed Daenerys as she grew from a young innocent girl to a powerful leader. Along with her dragons, Daenerys traveled far and wide to retake her spot as the leader of the seven kingdoms. Daenerys’ journey was one of the most compelling parts of the Game of Thrones series. Clarke received many Emmy nominations for her role as Daenerys Targaryen.

In 2019, Clarke played Kate in Last Christmas. She starred opposite Henry Golding in this romantic dramedy about a woman who learns the true meaning of Christmas and giving. Clarke also appeared in Above Suspicion, a movie about the first FBI agent convicted of murder. Clarke appeared in 2020 and 2022 in a theatrical production of Anton Chekhov’s  The Seagull. Clarke’s other post-Game of Thrones projects include Marvel’s Secret Invasion, The Amazing Maurice, and The Pod Generation. Her upcoming projects include the animated film The Twits and the Amazon Crime Drama Criminal. Netflix will release Twits in 2025.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister)

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau’s Jaime Lannister tried to live an honorable life as the Kingslayer. He was always willing to bend the rules of honor when it came to protecting his family, especially Cersei. Jaime began Game of Thrones as one of the series’ antiheroes but slowly started to earn a heroic title, until all character development flew out the window like Tommen Baratheon (Dean-Charles Chapman).

Coster-Waldau appeared in two projects in 2019, Suicide Tourist and Domino. Coster-Waldau has roles in The Silencing, Krudttønden, Against the Ice, God is a Bullet, and The Last Thing He Told Me. Coster-Waldau was the lead in the Geffen Playhouse version of Macbeth in 2020. In 2024, he starred in the docuseries An Optimist’s Guide to the Planet. In 2023, he signed on to star in King and Conqueror for CBS Studios. Production began on the series in 2024.

Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark)

Sophie Turner played Sansa Stark on Game of Thrones. Sansa had a rough path to find her place in Winterfell and among the world of warring families and power thirst. Of all the Game of Thrones characters, her ending fit her journey the most.

Turner appeared in her ex-husband’s music videos for “Sucker” and “What a Man Gotta Do,” and expanded their family. Career-wise, Turner has been just as busy. She reprised her role as Jean Grey in X-Men: Dark Phoenix in 2019. Then she appeared in the revenge thriller Heavy. In 2020, Turner had the lead role in Survive, a TV series about a woman who survives a plane crash but now must survive being on a snow-covered mountain with only one other survivor. 

Turner kept busy with the projects Do Revenge, Every Last Secret, The Prince, and The Staircase. Her next projects include Joan and Trust. According to Deadline, Turner will reunite with Harington in the horror film The Dreadful. She will also lead an ensemble cast in the heist series Haven.

Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy)

Alfie Allen played Theon Greyjoy for Game of Throne’s eight seasons. Theon started the show as a Stark loyalist, but his desire for power and to live up to the Greyjoy name led to him betraying the family that raised him. Then he spent the final few seasons trying to make up for this mistake.

Allen played Isaac Pincher in the third season of the Hulu series Harlots. Allen’s TV roles also include White House Farm, SAS: Rogue Heroes, and the upcoming Safe Harbor. Safe Harbor also stars former Game of Thrones cast member Jack Gleeson. Game of Thrones stars Gemma Whelan and Mark Addy also have roles in White House Farm.  Allen’s film roles include a part in the Academy Award-winning film Jojo Rabbit. He starred opposite Beanie Feldstein in How to Build a Girl, a movie based on Caitlin Moran’s book. 

Allen appeared in Netflix’s 2021 movie Night Teeth. It’s a thriller about a chauffeur who ends up fighting for his life after he drives two women to five different parties in Los Angeles. In 2024, his movie McVeigh premiered at the Tribeca Festival. Also in 2024, he was cast to star alongside Shazad Latif and Samira Wiley in Atomic, a five-part series. 

Maisie Williams (Arya Stark)

Maisie Williams played Arya Stark, the girl who would have some of the most debated moments of the final Game of Thrones season. Arya was the adventurous, tomboy Stark girl who went from a young child to a girl with no name to one of the series’ greatest heroes.

Williams made her X-Men debut when The New Mutants finally hit theaters in 2020. She plays Rahne Sinclair, aka Wolfsbane, a Scottish mutant who shape-shifts into a wolf.  Williams also appeared in the films The Owners and the TV shows Two Weeks to Live, The New Look, and Pistol. 

In 2019, she also launched a social media platform called Daisie. It aims to be a networking site for creatives looking to collaborate on projects and to help newcomers receive exposure for their work. In 2022, Maisie Williams signed on to co-star with Freddie Highmore in the comedy Sinner v. Saints. The Hollywood Reporter mentioned filming on it was scheduled to begin in 2023, but as of June 2024, production has not begun. Williams appears in Press Your Luck. The film is based on the Michael Larson Press Your Luck cheating scandal.

Isaac Hempstead Wright (Bran Stark)

Isaac Hempstead Wright played Bran Stark, one of the youngest of the Stark clan. He kicked Game of Thrones off with a bang by showing that the show would, in fact, harm kids. Bran eventually becomes the Three-Eyed Raven and gains power.

Hempstead Wright is in a film called Voyagers. Voyagers depicts the story of 30 people sent into space to search for a new home. The film has an ensemble cast that includes Colin Farrell, Lily-Rose Depp, Fionn Whitehead, and Tye Sheridan.

Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth)

Gwendoline Christie played Brienne of Tarth, a brave knight who often faced challenges because of prejudices against women warriors. Her kind heart, loyalty, and honorable nature won her respect and love, especially from the Kingslayer.

Christie appears in The Personal History of David Copperfield. Dev Patel, Hugh Laurie, and Tilda Swinton also star in this movie. She played Titania in the 2019 Bridge Theatre stage production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Take a deep breath in and release. Great news! Despite rumors proclaiming otherwise, Game of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is alive! The actor, who played Jaime Lannister throughout the popular series’ eight-season run, is one of the latest celebrities to falsely be reported as dead. To prove that he is very much among the living, Coster-Waldau took to social media to clear things up.

Providing proof of life, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau posted a video on his Instagram addressing the worrying rumors that the Game of Thrones actor had died. He also sounded off in the video’s caption. In it, Coster-Waldau expressed his ire at having an ad “report” the fake news of his death. Put your mind at ease by watching the video below:

There you have it. Unlike his Game of Thrones character, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is very much alive. Unfortunately, Coster-Waldau joins many celebrities who have fallen victim to some corners of the internet’s dark past time: death hoaxes. For reference, back in 2018, The Witcher’s Henry Cavill was shocked to learn that he had “died” in an errored Google notice.

Hence, you can add another connection between The Witcher and Game of Thrones. This connection a particularly grim one. The stars of a show both getting swept up in a death hoax is not the kind of trivia you want to share in common. All of which begs the question: how did all of this start? As Nikolaj Coster-Waldau explained in the video, it began with an ad that circulated online.

Among the sites affected by the fake death ad was the Danish news outlet TV2/Lorry. It featured their logo, per Huff Post. TV2/Lorry subsequently released a statement on their website to clear up the situation. In it, they revealed that they reported the ad to the police and Google. Translated by Google, the site adds they had “nothing to do with the ad” falsely indicating Nikolaj Coster-Waldau’s death.

It is tough to imagine how emotionally wrecking a death hoax has to be on the victim. In the video, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau laments that his family could have seen the fake news ad. Thankfully, Coster-Waldau was able to clear things up on Instagram. Now, the actor can focus on his bustling career.

Thank goodness for social media! It gave Nikolaj Coster-Waldau the platform to clear up the rumors that spread throughout Denmark.

Jaime Lannister did not end up coming back from the dead for Game of Thrones’ finale despite a fan theory that proposed he would. His portrayer, on the other hand, has dispelled the fake rumors claiming his tragic demise. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is no stranger to having to clear things up.

After Game of Thrones’ divisive finale, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau reacted to the backlash surrounding the ending. He also revealed that Game of Thrones’ co-showrunner was also upset by the dark Battle of Winterfell episode, which drew tremendous fan frustration. Leave it to Coster-Waldau to make things clear!

Game of Thrones co-showrunner Dan Weiss was "really pissed" about that dark episode too, according to a series star. To recap, that episode was one of the most highly anticipated of the final season. After a lot of build-up to it, humanity faced off with the Night King in the Battle of Winterfell. The thing is that viewers had a super tough time making out what exactly was happening.

Game of Thrones Season 8's "The Long Night" cinematography turned out so dark that it made it tough to see who was living and dying. During a solo interview at Con of Thrones 2019, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) answered what he felt were the fair and unfair criticisms of the final season. It turns out, disgruntled Game of Thrones fans and the series’ co-showrunner Dan Weiss share one complaint in common. Coster-Waldau said:

So, Game of Thrones viewers were supposed to be able to see it! Despite the surprising conclusion and the deaths, all anyone could talk about was how dark the episode was, as the final season’s centerpiece could barely be seen.

To not be able to see the battle after all of the teases about it was a heartbreaker -- not only for Game of Thrones’ fans but also the creatives behind the show. I can only imagine. As Nikolaj Coster-Waldau points out, a lot of work went into filming it.

Ahead of the episode airing, talk about how “miserable” it was for the cast to film it took center stage. To have endured all of that and not have viewers be able to see it has to be a terrible feeling. Acknowledging that it was not supposed to be that way does personally help take the sting out of it.

Originally slated to include a giant direwolf battle, the episode ended up not being the only battle of the season. If you can call what happened in King’s Landing a battle. It was easier to see as it played out in daylight. The Battle of Winterfell happened at night. Following the episode airing, a cinematographer who worked on it defended the show against the lighting criticism.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau’s remarks do clarify that the Battle of Winterfell was not supposed to be that dark. As in, Game of Thrones did not intend for it to be impossible to see for stylistic purposes. That is a relief. Still, it does bring up questions.

What can be done to prevent something like this from happening in the future for other shows? Ozark, I am looking at you. Is there any way to “restore” the Battle of Winterfell? Or is it impossible to re-work? It is sad to think of it never getting properly seen. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau did joke during the interview that fans should just watch the battle on Blu-ray, suggesting there was a quality-of-image issue when it came specifically to airing the episode on HBO.

After spending eight seasons and the better part of a decade playing an incredibly divisive character on television's biggest show, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is of course best known for his Game of Thrones role. Sadly for fans, Jaime Lannister was killed off in the penultimate episode of Thrones, and Coster-Waldau's last appearance on television came in the form of him playing his character's corpse in the series finale. Now, Coster-Waldau has joined the cast of a new TV project that could be just what fans need to move on from Jaime.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is on board the pilot for a new drama series called Gone Hollywood. The pilot was ordered by FX, and the premise means that his new character probably won't have much in common with Jaime Lannister other than looking an awful lot alike.

Gone Hollywood follows a group of talent agents who move on from "an old-guard percentery" to create their own agency. This new agency quickly rises to the top of the competition to dominate the industry, which completely changes showbiz and the making of movies forever.

The protagonists of Gone Hollywood will be largely fictional, but the show will also feature versions of real-life entertainment figures and events. Still, prospective viewers shouldn't expect to see real-life movie stars of modern days turn up for cameos en masse. The show is set in 1980. If some 1980s stars appear in the 2019+ production, then there will either have to be some serious efforts to de-age them or viewers will have to suspend a few decades of disbelief.

No details are available just yet about Nikolaj Coster-Waldau's character other than his name. Coster-Waldau's character is "Jack DeVoe." The cast is filled out by John Magaro of The Umbrella Academy and The Big Short as Eli Zeller, Lola Kirke of Mozart in the Jungle and Gone Girl as Abbie Jinks, Ben Schnetzer of Pride and Goat as Robbie Riese, Jonathan Pryce of The Wife and Taboo as Benny Landau, and Judd Hirsch of Independence Day Resurgence and The Goldbergs as Lev Kertzman.

Gone Hollywood comes from the mind of Ocean's Eleven scribe Ted Griffin. He created the project and is on board to write and direct the pilot. He'll executive produce and run the show as well. All things considered, Gone Hollywood has a great deal of potential to become a unique hit for FX.

That said, Gone Hollywood has only received an order for a pilot, so there's no guarantee that fans will ever see Nikolaj Coster-Waldau playing Jack DeVoe as his big post-Game of Thrones TV job. If FX passes on the pilot, then Gone Hollywood will likely be gone for good. It would be a shame if Thrones fans didn't get to see a new side of Coster-Waldau on the small screen sooner rather than later.

Despite his lengthy run on Game of Thrones, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau hasn't actually worked on a ton of television projects. In fact, his only two TV credits since landing Game of Thrones are an episode of Saturday Night Live on NBC in 2015 and an episode of The Simpsons on Fox in 2017. Could FX and Gone Hollywood be his next home on TV? FX is losing one of its current dramas, so perhaps there will be an open slot for Gone Hollywood.

The last time Game of Thrones fans saw Jaime Lannister, he was holding his sister, Cersei, as the world collapsed around them. Or at least King’s Landing collapsed, and neither of the Lannister siblings was shown on screen after everything came crashing down. The indication, of course, is that they died off-screen. However, an interesting new fan theory suggests that Jaime may still be alive.

That’s right. Seeing is frequently believing when it comes to TV deaths, and Game of Thrones did not show the brutal carnage of a dead Jaime or Cersei. Was that just a pointed visual choice made by the creative team? there is more than that to go on, too, as Tumblr user Weeds Are Flowers Too posited some reasons why Jaime's survival is pretty feasible. Let's go through the ins and outs below.

No Social Media Posts

She points out that neither Nikolaj Coster-Waldau nor his co-stars referenced the actor's “final episode” or Jaime dying in any social media posts. That includes Gwendoline Christie, who plays Brienne and would almost definitely have a heartwarming message for Coster-Waldau. Seriously, you would expect to hear from the entire cast if that was really Jaime Lannister’s last stand. Their silence hints that he may not be dead, after all.

To play the devil's advocate, even though I think this is an excellent point, there could be a reason for the radio silence. Maybe the cast was told to hold back on "confirming" it, since it was sort of open-ended and would allow for such speculating. Of course, that does not entirely fit due to this next bit.

No Confirmatory Interviews with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau

If there is a significant (confirmed) death on Game of Thrones, there is usually a post-episode interview somewhere out there. Varys' Conleth Hill and other dearly departed cast members did them following the penultimate episode, as did Lena Headey. Not Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, though. Although Headey mentioned the actor in hers.

When discussing her feelings about Cersei’s exit story, Lena Headey mentioned coming around to the Lannister siblings’ literally crushing end, or at least Cersei’s. Who helped her do so? Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. What she said there, and on social media, indicates that this is definitely the end of Cersei. Jaime’s fate is left far more inconclusive, at least in terms of post-episode confirmations.

The Showrunners Did Speak Out (Sort Of)

Game of Thrones’ showrunners have touched on Jaime and Cersei’s last scenes together, seeming to confirm they are both gone. During the show’s Inside the Episode wrap-up, showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss weighed in, with the former referencing the conversation that Bronn had with Jaime about how they wanted to die.

They went onto discuss Jaime’s answer, which was to leave the world in the arms of the woman he loves. David Benioff followed up by saying, “And this is it,” with the implication being that Jaime got to die the way he wanted, with those "arms" being Cersei’s.

Game of Thrones’ showrunners always do choose their words carefully, so who knows? Jaime may think “this is it,” and then miraculously survive or be brought back in some other way. It is something to think about, in any case.

Last season, Game of Thrones made viewers think that Jaime died, and he turned out to be alive. Maybe he has pulled off another miracle. Against odds, the rubble could have missed taking him out lethally, setting up a final moment where Daenerys finds him as she looks to confirm Cersei's death.

Game of Thrones fans, raise your wine glasses to Cersei Lannister. The queen has left the building. Or the building left her underneath it. May she finally rest in peace. And may Lena Headey be forever hailed for her phenomenal performance.

Cersei was one of the many characters to die in a surprising way in Game of Thrones Season 8. The final season has not been a fan favorite as we approach the series finale next week. Cersei was kept mostly on the sidelines for the first five episodes, just watching the action play out -- or off screen while the action focused on Winterfell.

Cersei spent most of her final episode just watching Daenerys Targaryen and Drogon destroy King's Landing. She only took action when she was finally convinced the city had fallen. Ultimately, it looked like she would die alone, but then Jaime Lannister reunited with her under the Red Keep, which collapsed on them -- but not before they hugged and he held her, saying no one else mattered but the two of them.

Lena Headey shared her initial reaction to Cersei's final scene:

Yeah, there was so much speculation about how Cersei would die -- whether tied to the valonqar prophecy from George R.R. Martin's book or whether Arya Stark would kill the green-eyed lass or what. It would've been cool to see Cersei have some kind of fight showdown with Dany or Arya, or anyone. She's not a swordsman or anything, but she usually has another trick up her sleeve. She knows how to fight back, and fight dirty. Not this time.

Lena Headey told EW she came around to appreciating Cersei and Jaime's joint endgame after talking it out with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau:

Throughout Game of Thrones, Jaime and Cersei had a codependent relationship. Cersei had said in the past that they came into the world together and would leave together. They belong together. They were a toxic couple right from the first episode. The things I do for love. So as frustrating as it was for fans to see Jaime slide back into his old ways after finding such a good match with Ser Brienne, it was pretty on-brand.

Some fans were frustrated with Episode 5 humanizing Cersei -- right after she gave Missandei the Ned Stark treatment -- while Dany was shown killing innocent people. That was not exactly on-brand for the Breaker of Chains. You could argue both queens were shown to be acting out of character.

Lena Headey previously told EW she didn't agree with the decision in the Season 8 premiere for Cersei to have sex with Euron. The actress didn't think it was in Cersei's character to give in so quickly.

I will attempt to refrain from commenting on the showrunners knowing what they're doing, beyond what I've already said.

Cersei's fate was prophesied in George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire book series, but the HBO show left out the part about the "valonqar." That's the part of Maggy the Frog's prophecy that said, "When your tears have drowned you, the valonqar shall wrap his hands about your pale white throat and choke the life from you." Valonqar is the High Valyrian word for "little brother," and Jaime was the twin born after Cersei. Even though that never made it to the TV show, some fans think Jaime being there holding Cersei's face in comfort was a take on the valonqar prophecy:

Eh, I suppose. That could be considered a subtle twist. He's not the one choking the life from her, but OK. Book Cersei always assumed Tyrion would be the valonqar. Fans suspected Jaime. I was wondering if the show might even twist it to be Euron, another little brother. Or Arya using the face of Jaime.

Game of Thrones does like to give us double bluffs and subvert expectations. They may even have Arya kill Dany as the "green eyed" person in Melisandre's prophecy even though Dany does not really have green eyes. In the books, they are purple, and Cersei is the one with green eyes. On screen, Emilia Clarke has grey/hazel eyes and it was previously mentioned that Dany had blue eyes. But this show does not care. Or if they do care, they'll have Arya listen to The Hound and stop trying to get revenge for everything.

Now that Game of Thrones is over for the actors, Lena Headey is hoping fans remember she's not just Cersei Lannister. She had a career before GoT and she hopes to continue showing her range afterward.

There's only one episode left for the rest of us, and Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 6 airs Sunday, May 19 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO. There are still plenty of plot points the show has to wrap up in some way before the end. The Night King and Cersei are both dead, but it feels like Dany will be next. And then what? Will anyone sit on the Iron Throne or will Dany at least have been able to successfully "break the wheel"? Jon Snow has made it painfully clear he does not want to rule. Maybe Tyrion could take over? There's only one more week to guess, and a lifetime of second-guessing whatever choices are made.

Game of Thrones has been the home of many memorable lines, and the cast has their favorites. If you think that every actor’s favorite line has gotten said by them, though, think again. Gwendoline Christie, who plays Brienne of Tarth on the HBO hit has shared her pick. And, you guessed it, the line does not belong to her character.

Answering the question, Gwendoline Christie responded with one of her co-star’s lines. Whose line is it? Well, it belongs to someone she has worked closely with on Game of Thrones. Christie told TVLine:

Interesting selection. Gwendoline Christie chose Jaime Lannister’s line while praising actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau’s delivery of it. Coster-Waldau also selected it as his favorite line. How great is Christie’s observation? She sums up her co-star’s performance with brilliant eloquence, in my opinion.

Given who Jaime is now; it is hard to reconcile it is the same character who said it. For those who may need a Game of Thrones refresher on when this line was said, you are about to get it. Jaime uttered it during one of the most infamous scenes of the series, and it occurred in the Season 1 premiere.

While climbing the walls of Winterfell, Bran saw a shocking sight. That of Jaime and his twin sister, Cersei, hooking up. Unfortunately for Bran, he stayed in the window too long and got spotted by Cersei. Jaime grabbed him before he could get away. At first, it seemed like Jaime was going to let him go after asking Bran how old he was.

After hearing Bran was 10, Jaime said, “The things we do for love” and proceeded to push Bran out of the window anyway. Thus, bringing Game of Thrones’ series premiere to a shocking end. You can see Jaime utter the infamous line in the clip below, beginning at the 3:14 mark:

That line cemented Jaime’s willingness to do anything for Cersei. The casual way that Jaime says it is bone-chilling, with his voice devoid of the ominous tone his actions betray. Personally, I find it to be the most shocking moment of the first episode, and it also set the stage for the series’ cutthroat nature.

How epic would it be if “The things we do for love” were the line that Bran greets Jaime with in the season premiere? The two should meet again in Game of Thrones’ final season, because their face-off has been a long time coming. And, Sunday’s premiere could reveal how the Starks respond to Jaime’s return to Winterfell.

Considering how things went the last time, there should be sufficient tension. Perhaps “The things we do for love” will be exchanged for the “The things we do to survive.” That will probably be the mantra said to allow for Jaime’s presence at Winterfell. Humanity will need his help to survive what is coming.

The Lannister brothers have not agreed on much when it comes to their sister Cersei. Despite that, they have forged a unique and deep bond with each other. What can Game of Thrones fans expect from Tyrion and Jaime’s relationship in the final season? Peter Dinklage teased:

Based on what Peter Dinklage is saying (via TV Insider), Tyrion still trusts and loves his brother. He does not have any real reasons not to -- at least in the TV version of the story. (Book readers will recall the brothers fell out over Jaime's big Tysha confession.) Jaime has always been very loyal to Tyrion and vice versa. Hearing Peter Dinklage describe the brothers' scenes as “beautiful” has this fan super excited. Game of Thrones level “beautiful” can be somewhat sad though, so viewers will have to stay tuned.

It will be compelling to see how Tyrion and Jaime interact in Season 8. They endured quite a bit in Season 7 as Tyrion stood on one side of the battle lines, while Jaime fought on another. At one point, Daenerys Targaryen's dragon almost killed Jaime after he made a run at her. Being enemies on the battlefield was not fun for either brother.

Events such as that have not seemed to dampen their relationship. After meeting up in Season 7, Tyrion and Jaime are again on a collision course to meet in Season 8. Both are heading to the North. Tyrion is Dany's Hand and will be a more welcome guest at Winterfell (where he will reunite with his former wife Sansa Stark -- awkward). Whereas, Jaime should be a question mark on the Starks’ guest list.

If memory serves correctly, the last time Jaime was there was when he pushed Bran Stark out of the window. Who better than Tyrion to mediate the issues that will arise if Jaime needs to darken Winterfell’s doorway? Tyrion has what it takes to convince the Starks to set aside their justified anger until the war with dead is over.

After hearing Jon Snow and Daenerys’ pitch regarding the Night King and his army, Jaime decided to take action. He even parted ways with Cersei to do it -- a sign that he believes that a significant fight is facing humanity. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau explained his motivation, saying:

That succinct explanation defines what is destined to be the fight of Jaime Lannister’s life. He has seen and fought a lot, nothing quite like this, though. He is used to the flesh and blood battles waged by those among the living. Now, he will face off with the dead.

Game of Thrones has a lot to take care of in its final season. As a fan of the rich family dynamics that course through the series, it is nice to hear they will get attention. Tyrion and Jaime’s scenes have been among the series’ most haunting. There is an unfettered gravity to them. It will be intriguing to see where their last interactions together leave them.

HBO just unleashed 14 new photos from Game of Thrones Season 8. Sure, it's not the official trailer everyone is clamoring for, but it's more than just something. The photos may not reveal much, but they highlight Team Dany/Jon in the North, with a couple of photos of Cersei Lannister in King's Landing. The showrunners love their secrets, so they are probably hiding some other character and location twists for either the full trailer or (more likely) the April 14 premiere itself.

The photo of now heavily bearded Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) caught my attention. He is giving someone a bit more than just a Mona Lisa smile in the image below. Where exactly is he, and who is the beneficiary of this merry-eyed glance?

Where is Jaime Lannister? I'm guessing Winterfell. Somewhere in the north is a safe guess. He's more bearded now and changed out of his King's Landing garb. He looks Full North.

Who is he smiling at? Maybe Brienne of Tarth? She has a new photo in the gallery below, too. Jaime and Brienne had a brief conversation at the end of Season 7, after the big meeting in King's Landing. Brienne begged Jaime to convince Cersei to put aside the fight for the Iron Throne and join Daenerys Targaryen, Jon Snow, and company in fighting the White Walkers. Didn't work.

Jaime could also be smiling at his brother Tyrion Lannister. A Season 8 promo showed Dany and Jon arriving at Winterfell, and Tyrion -- as Hand of the Queen -- should be in their company. If Jaime rides north, he could reunite with his younger brother. Another new photo does show Tyrion with a snowy backdrop (see gallery of images below). He looks wary, but it doesn't seem to be the same location as the photo of Jaime, so he's probably not getting the Kingslayer's smile.

Jaime Lannister could also be giving a side smile to Jon Snow, on the verge of a joke for the perpetually earnest King in the North. Or maybe he's somehow bonding with the even more earnest Bran Stark, despite Jaime trying to kill Bran back at the end of the Season 1 premiere? (Good times!) Here's a shot of Bran looking pensive, as always, as he stares into the fire and perhaps contemplates how to break the news to Jon that he's dating his aunt.

The lighting doesn't seem to match, but maybe Jaime is smiling at Samwell Tarly. Sam is seen smiling here in his own Game of Thrones Season 8 photo, despite also ending Season 7 with the awkward secret of Jon Snow's true Targaryen heritage.

Jaime could also be smiling at Daenerys Targaryen. If you check out the gallery below, another new photo shows Dany smiling at someone. The lighting isn't an exact match, but it's possible.

Game of Thrones Season 7 did not end in a great place for Jaime Lannister, so it's good to see him smiling. He had a major falling out with his twin sister/lover Queen Cersei Lannister, who is said to be pregnant with his baby. Cersei promised to send her entire army north to help Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow fight the White Walkers in the Great War. But she later told Jaime that was a lie. Instead, Euron Greyjoy went to Essos to buy the backing of the Golden Company to fight for Cersei, against Dany and the North.

Jaime was (finally) disgusted by his sister and ended his Season 7 storyline riding north, just as the snows of winter made their way to King's Landing. So that's where we're picking up his story in Game of Thrones Season 8. However, Jaime actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau also mentioned that the angry words exchanged between Jaime and Cersei were said in a moment of passion. Could Jaime return to King's Landing to be with the love of his life?

The six episodes of Game of Thrones Season 8 premiere April 14 on HBO, with the series finale looking like it'll air May 19. Acting is a tough business. There are way more interested parties than available roles, and lifelong careers aren't guaranteed for anyone, no matter the heights one might achieve. Like sports, the movie industry is all about what you've done for me lately, which is why, if an actor does find him or herself fortunate enough to be attached to a lucrative and popular television show or franchise, it's important they be paid their fair share of the loot. Let the record show Game Of Thrones actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is seeing his fair share of the money. In fact, for the final season, he was reportedly paid more than a million dollars an episode.

Acting salaries are not very often discussed in specific terms. The actors themselves don't necessarily want their fans to know how many zeroes are on their checks, and the studios don't really want other actors to use that knowledge to renegotiate their own deals. But all of that secrecy goes out the window if a lawsuit is involved, and that's exactly what's happening right now with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and his former manager Jill Littman.

In short, the actor terminated his contact with Littman back in 2015. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor claimed he'd long worked with her on a verbal agreement that didn't include any commission on earnings for jobs he completed after giving notice, but she came forward with a contract he signed as part of the process to get his Visa to work in the United States. He allegedly thought it was just paperwork to get the process moving. She allegedly thought it was an enforceable contract, and a judge recently sided with her, demanding the actor pay $2,000,000 to his former manager.

The specifics of the Game Of Thrones contract are $942,857 per episode of the Seventh Season of Game Of Thrones and $1,066,667 per episode of the Final Eighth Season of Game Of Thrones. So, even if he winds up paying this $2,000,000, you probably don't need to worry about him ending up in the poor house.

If nothing else, all of this should be a good reminder that even the most eye-catching salaries in Hollywood are rarely what they first seem. There are usually agents and managers to pay. Half of the money is due to Uncle Sam via taxes. Don't get me wrong. It can be a great way to make a living if you're able to find the right project, but what you end up banking away for in case things go south in the future is never as much as it would initially seem, even if you're actually saving money. And not all actors are great at that part either.

Regardless, Game Of Thrones is coming back for its final season, and Coster-Waldau and his character Jaime Lannister will appear in all six concluding episodes.

The end is nigh for Game of Thrones, and viewers will be stuck in Westeros withdrawal until the first spinoff makes it to the airwaves. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau will miss the writing that reportedly brought the series full circle during production of the eighth and final season, but that's not to say that there aren't elements of Jaime Lannister he'll be happy to leave behind. According to Coster-Waldau in his comments to The Wrap, he's not going to miss what he had to wear as Jaime Lannister. As a member of the Kingsguard and a deadly soldier in the Lannister army, Jaime has spent a lot of time on the series in heavy armor. In Season 8, he even wound up getting pitched into a pool of water in full armor, and he surely would have drowned if not for the timely intervention of Bronn!

Admittedly, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau did get a break from the full body armor during his arc following Catelyn's decision to free him from Northern captivity and send him south to King's Landing with Brienne. He wasn't even given a sword for most of that arc. Unfortunately, that arc didn't mean that he got to wear light clothes. Instead, he was traipsing around in a heavy, filthy cloak and getting his hand chopped off. Poor Jaime has come a long way from his status as the golden Lannister boy in Season 1.

Of course, back in Season 1, few of us probably would have described the character in any sympathetic terms. His first major moves on the series were meeting his twin sister for a tryst and then flinging a young boy out of a tower window after he caught the twins in the act. Jaime has gone through a lot of character development over the years, and the journey gave Nikolaj Coster-Waldau the material to score his first Emmy nomination for his performances in Season 7. While many fans had hoped and speculated that he would cut ties with her once and for all following her actions in the Season 6 finale, he stayed loyal. And if blowing up the Sept of Baelor and rising to power the way she did was not enough to make Jaime end their horrific relationship, it is hard to imagine this new rift will hold strong going into Season 8. Though when Season 7 ended, Jaime had done more than give Cersei a stern look and a defiant condemnation; he put physical distance between them, heading to the North with the others.

Unfortunately for Jaime, Bran Stark is also there, and he knows everything, which would seem to include Bran witnessing Jaime and Cersei's twisted affair firsthand, resulting in Jaime pushing him off the castle wall. Suffice it to say, the Stark siblings will have to figure out how to handle that new information as they continue on with their revenge schemes and survival tactics. With everything coming to a head, fans have a lot to anticipate.

Well, that sounds very promising. The cast is every bit as impassioned for Game of Thrones to have a great ending as the fans have been. So Nikolaj Coster-Waldau feeling so positive about it is an encouraging sign. While Jaime's final chapter has ominous overtones, Emilia Clarke has offered the most definitive clue yet, following the filming of Daenerys' final scene. While we are all closer than ever to Game of Thrones' final season, it will be bittersweet to get there.

It's no secret that HBO's Game of Thrones is one of the most popular shows on TV. Shireen's death at the hands of her father and Melisandre is certainly one of them, and provided one of the show's most bone chilling moments.

Ultimately, Shireen's death is the final straw in Stannis' rebellion. His soldiers turn and run, his wife commits suicide, and he meets the pointy end of Brienne of Tarth's Oathkeeper. Stannis originally seemed like a good choice to rule the Seven Kingdoms, but his obsession and influence by the Red Priestess turned him into a monster.

In his same conversation with Variety, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau also spoke about how uncomfortable he was with the relationship between Lysa Arryn and her son Robin. Despite being into his adolescence, Lysa is shown breast feeding her heir in her first startling scene of the series. He actor said, "It was so weird and wrong on every level." Ultimately Lysa met a grisly end at the hands of Littlefinger, and Robin is presumably alive and well in The Eyrie.

It's a particularly exciting week for the droves of Game of Thrones fans out there. Because after waiting a full year since the last finale, Season 7 will finally premiere this Sunday. And with just two short season left before the tale of Westeros concludes forever, there's plenty of big moments to look forward to. One of the longest standing mysteries on Game is the true lineage of Jon Snow, and while we learned that Lyanna Stark was his mother through Bran's flashback in the finale, his father's identity has yet to be confirmed. But actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau might have let slip the most obvious secret out there: that Jon is part Targaryen.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to promote Game of Thrones' upcoming seventh season. When he was called out for lying last year about Jon Snow's resurrection (they all did), he tried to get out of it, and revealed a bit too much.

Ruh roh. Jaime Lannister got a bit too chatty, and most likely revealed the plot point that fans had long theorized over: that Jon is actually related to Dany, and has Targaryen blood running through his veins.

This revelation is a long time coming, as Game of Thrones fans have long theorized that Jon was the daughter of Lyanna Stark and Danys' brother Rhaegar Targaryen. Spoken through code as R + L = J, most of the hardcore fandom never believed that Ned would cheat on Catelyn, because he was the most honorable dude in all of Westeros. Furthermore, he refused to ever speak about the alleged whore that he slept with to conceive Jon, probably because she never existed. And in last season's finale, we were shown how Ned eventually reconnected with his sister Lyanna right before her death, and promised to take care of her newborn child.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau's confession on Jimmy Kimmel certainly felt accidental, and you could feel both he and Kimmel attempt to backtrack and make it all a joke. But there isn't any motivation for the actor to give a false statement about Jon's parentage, especially since the audience already knows about Lyanna.

It really speaks to the power of Game Of Thrones as a story when two characters engaged in full-on incest can still win fans over season after season. Even though he and co-star Lena Headey aren't really related, Jaime Lannister actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau still feels really weird about thinking of their scenes together as incestuous ones. The actor explains why in the quote below:

It appears the taboo nature of the topic troubles Nikolaj Coster-Waldau more than anything. Plenty of actors and actresses fake romantic relationships with others despite having other romantic relationships in real life, but pretending someone is one's wife and making love to them is a whole other ballgame than pretending someone is one's sister and making love to them, so point taken from Mr. Coster-Waldau. The positive takeaway here is that the Game Of Thrones star didn't giggle skeezily while implying he's 100% cool with the subtext of those bumped uglies.

Headey doesn't see Cersei's love of Jaime as romantic, but rather one of envy and respect. Interestingly enough, Headey believes Cersei began her intimate relationship with Jaime because she wants to be him, and she envies that she cannot be a man with the same privileges he has. Other people would perhaps cope with that feeling in a sli-i-i-ightly different way, but then again, few people are like Cersei Lannister.

It's almost hard to believe, but HBO's fantasy drama Game of Thrones will soon be finishing up its epic story. With just two (short) seasons left, the slow burn of the series has truly begun to pay off, as characters and settings finally intersect and interact. One of the plot lines that will likely come to a head is the bizarre and incestuous relationship between Jaime Lannister and his newly crowned twin Queen Cersei. The duo seem to have been drifting apart in recent seasons, especially after the death of their children, leading fans to anticipate an epic twin breakup. But will it actually happen?

Actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has played Jaime in Game of Thrones since the very first episode. He recently spoke to The Daily Beast about his new film Small Crimes, and the upcoming final seasons of Game. During this conversation, he may have let slip some details about Jaime, including a possible non-Cersei love interest.

Well this is certainly intriguing. For the first real time since in Game of Thrones' tenure, it looks like Jaime may have a romantic connection with someone other than his twin (how healthy of him!). And this may happen for a few reasons.

To start, it seems like Jaime and Cersei may have passed the point of no return. Cersei's ascension onto the Iron Throne came at a very high price. Because in addition to the destroying the majority of her enemies, she was also responsible for Tommen's suicide. We saw Jaime return to King's Landing just as Cersei took the throne, so its unclear how the finale's events will factor into their relationship.

And if Jaime is going to leave Cersei for anyone, it's probably going to be Brienne of Tarth. The two warriors developed an unlikely bond when Brienne transported him back to King's Landing at Catelyn's behest. They both shared their vulnerability to each other, and their attraction was palpable during and after the Purple Wedding. Plus, they briefly reunited last season at Riverrun, and worked together to resolve the conflict with minimal violence.

Brienne and Jaime seem to really bring out the best in each other, allowing themselves to open up and let someone else in. But with Brienne now working for Sansa and House Stark, finding a way for she and Jaime to reunite will be easier said than done. Plus, it looks like Tormund is thirsty for Brienne as well.

Game of Thrones will return to HBO this summer.

Game of Thrones has such a vast world of plots and characters that the options for spinoffs are endless. In fact, there are so many great possibilities that it would take a heck of a great pitch to be considered the most deserving of a spinoff. As it happens, actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has a pitch for a Jaime Lannister/Brienne of Tarth spinoff that is so perfect that HBO should feel obligated to produce it as soon as possible. Here's what he had to say:

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau pitched his idea for a spinoff to The New York Times in the wake of the bloodbath that was the Season 6 finale, and a lighthearted romp between Game of Thrones' most mismatched pair of BFFs sounds pretty good right now. He hasn't settled on a name just yet, but Roommates and The Heartslayer are evidently frontrunners. Roommates could be a solid name if the show is only going to focus on Jaime and Brienne. Heartslayer might be the better choice if a variety of Game of Thrones characters are dropping in to comment on their relationship. Varys' club could even be named "The Heartslayer" for that extra little touch of relevance. No matter the name, a Jaime and Brienne spinoff could be a winner. I'm already laughing at the idea of it.

Never before has the time been more right for a possible Jaime and Brienne spinoff. The duo ended Season 6 on opposite ends of the Seven Kingdoms, but they parted on okay terms by Game of Thrones standards. Although Brienne wasn't too happy that Jaime wasn't doing everything within his power to free the Blackfish and his army to help Sansa up North, they don't seem to consider their friendship to be over. In fact, the extra dose of angst might be exactly what the dynamic duo needed to help push them out of their comfort zone as mere pals. Could the spinoff be their chance to finally become more than friends? Even the silliest sitcoms need some seriousness every once in a while.

If Nikolaj Coster-Waldau were to get an executive producer credit, a Jaime/Brienne romance could be likely for a spinoff. He's said in the past that they might become more if they ever get the chance to slow down and interact without any agendas in the way. If he wanted to keep some degree of continuity with Game of Thrones, he might want to bring in Tormund Giantsbane to work as a catalyst for Jaime to realize his true feelings. There's nothing like a rival combined with canned laughter to make a sitcom work.

In all seriousness, it's nice to see that Nikolaj Coster-Waldau hasn't let the darkness from the end of Season 6 ruin his enthusiasm for the show. His spinoff idea may have been a joke, but it's certainly going to be fun to think about during the wait for Season 7. Game of Thrones fans know that sometimes new episodes are a bit more eventful than others. This week's "Battle of the Bastards," for instance, is expected to be pretty exciting, as we already know the HBO drama shot the largest sequence the series has ever attempted, and that includes "Hardhome." However, when there is a down week on Game of Thrones, there are fans on the internet and who are avid on social media who do tend to get disgruntled. Recently, series lead Nikolaj Coster-Waldau tried to appease those disgruntled fans, explaining why Game of Thrones has to give us some filler episodes. Here's what he had to say:

Last week's episode of Game of Thrones was one of the slower episodes during Season 6, although looking back at it, there was quite a lot going on. The chase scene between Arya and the Waif was quite intense, and the siege on Meereen, although it didn't escalate to hand-to-hand combat, was still visually appealing. Plus, both The Hound and his brother The Mountain got particularly violent with members of the Brotherhood Without Banners and The Faith, respectively. Still, compared to the episode when the white walkers caught up with Bran and his companions or the episode when Dany took down a whole slew of misogynistic khals, there wasn't a whole lot of stuff going on.

I think the best evidence of this was probably when director Mark Mylod chose to take 2-3 minutes to show Tyrion getting drunk and trying to teach Greyworm and Missandei how to tell jokes. In some of the bigger, more frenzied episodes, there would be no time for a scene like that, but when the show is simply trying to move the plot forward to reach some of the bigger moments, we often get more humor as well as more character development.

If you are into the episodes that feature the "maximum volume," as Nikolaj Coster-Waldau put it to TV Line, you won't have too much longer to wait. HBO has already released the trailer for this weekends "Battle of The Bastards," which will pit Jon Snow opposite Ramsay Bolton. While Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is best known for his role as Jaime Lannister on Game of Thrones, he’ll be introducing himself to movie audiences as a possible new action hero in this weekend’s Gods of Egypt. While the movie looks to be a fantastical take on the ancient Egyptian gods, it’s received most of its press in recent months due to the controversy that has built around the fact that a movie that takes place in ancient Egypt is awfully white. However, the film's star doesn’t believe all the criticism is warranted. At least, not as far as he’s concerned.

In a recent interview with the Red Bulletin, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau makes it clear that he’s not happy with the criticism that the movie has received regarding the racial makeup of the casting, saying that all of it gets on his nerves. He then points out that several of the characters, including himself, are not technically Egyptian.

Giving the Kingslayer the benefit of the doubt, he’s not wrong. Gods of Egypt differentiates the gods from the mortals, making the former giants with magic powers. They’re not Egyptians, they are an entirely separate race of beings. And if Nikolaj Coster-Waldau was the only white actor among the group of gods, that might be one thing. He’s not the problem. The cast as a whole is the problem. In addition to Coster-Waldau, the gods also consist of Gerard Butler, Geoffrey Rush, and Abbey Lee. And most concerningly, the problem extends beyond the god characters into the normal Egyptians. The film only has three mortal characters of any note. Two of the actors are Australian and the third is English.

It’s frustrating when your work gets criticized so it’s understandable that Nikolaj Coster-Waldau would be upset by everything. He had no control over his own race, and he didn’t cast the rest of the movie, so he feels like he’s being targeted for things that don’t concern him. He’s inadvertently in the center of a much larger issue of which his casting, not him, but his casting, is but a small part of it. It’s an issue that should be addressed, and it’s not personal, but we’re sure it can feel that way from his point of view.

Hopefully, the entire experience will be a lesson learned for all involved and we can all move forward with new perspectives. Gods of Egypt opens Friday.

It's been years since we've heard anything about Alex Proyas' Gods Of Egypt, and for a while we'd been wondering if it was even still happening. Well, it looks like we've got our answer, as the first posters for the film have dropped, and the results are... interesting. You're going to have to see these for yourself, as even our headline descriptions can't fully capture the gaudiness of what you're about to see. Here now is your first look at the glory that is Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as the Egyptian god Horus.

If that's not the most sparkling image Summit Entertainment has committed to film since the finale of the Twilight series, then we don't know what is. You can thank Yahoo for this exclusive look at Coster-Waldau's flamboyant get up, which will probably look even more ridiculous when it's in motion. We'd show you the trailer to prove our point, but believe it or not – there's no trailer released for the film yet. Did we mention this movie's slated for a February release date? Despite Proyas' past history of directing projects like The Crow and Dark City, the signs for Gods Of Egypt are pointing towards this new film falling into the same category as the director's failed Nicolas Cage vehicle, Knowing.

As for the story of Gods Of Egypt, we've got even more details than previously revealed about what the film will be about.

Our "unexpected hero" is Bek – a mortal thief played by Brenton Thwaites. His battle for humanity will require the assistance of the god Horus, played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau in the poster above. The villain of the piece is Set, the "merciless god of darkness." With a job title like that, you would expect the usurper of Egypt's throne to be a bit more intimidating than the goody-two-shoes you see depicted above. Thankfully, the costume design for Set, who is played by Gerard Butler, is much more toned down, as you'll see below.

If the marketing materials thus far are any indication, Gods Of Egypt is either the most undersold thrill ride of 2016, or it's going to be one of the most colorful flops of the earlier part of the year. You'll soon be able to see for yourself when the film releases on February 26, 2016.

For those not living under rocks on the other end of the galaxy, HBO’s Game of Thrones will soon be airing its third season finale, after last week’s episode took the Internet by bloody storm. (No spoilers.) One of the show’s stars, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, is set to take over Hollywood in much the same way.

The Wrap reports Coster-Waldau is currently in talks to join Summit Entertainment’s Gods of Egypt, the new epic fantasy from director Alex Proyas, the visionary director who gave the worldDark City and The Crow. An actor of Coster-Waldau’s build seems like a perfect fit for a movie about Egyptian gods. In the back of my mind, though, I thought the casting director would just hire everyone who works on any of the Starz series to fill these roles.

Gods of Egypt will take place in the ancient world of pyramids, sphinxes and legendary gods. Coster-Waldau would play sky god Horus, who joins Hathor, the goddess of love, and a human thief on a quest to avenge the death of Osiris, his father. We’re ignoring the fact that Proyas’ last film was 2009 batshit crazy Knowing, and hoping for the best with this one.

Perhaps if we were basing things on Game of Thrones alone there would be cause for debate, but after decent performances in both Joseph Kosinski’s Oblivion and Andrés Muschietti’s Mama this year, we’re pretty much convinced that Coster-Waldau can lead something of this scale. He’ll be on something of a smaller level when he plays a cheating bastard in Nick Cassavetes’ The Other Woman opposite Cameron Diaz and Leslie Mann, which will be coming soon.

If social networking has done anything, it has made public the multitude of people involved in relationships where their significant other is cheating on them. And it's always astounding to see how many of those people get angry at the other person rather than the person who was intentionally defying them. Hopefully Cameron Diaz's new film will be a breath of fresh revenge-filled air, especially since the film is now two cast members closer to production.

The Hollywood Reporter names Leslie Mann and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Game of Thrones) as the latest stars to join Diaz in the upcoming comedy The Other Woman, director Nick Cassavetes’ first feature since 2009’s My Sister’s Keeper.

The film will follow Diaz’s character who is chuffed to discover she is the “other woman” in an affair with a cheating husband (Coster-Waldau). Diaz then teams up with the husband’s wife, to be played by Mann, in order to get revenge. Should this show some verve and without limiting its appeal to the most common denominator section of the population, it could very well receive as much critical success as it probably will at the box office.

Mann was last seen in husband Judd Apatow’s This is 40, and will star opposite Emma Watson in the crime comedy The Bling Ring, whose first trailer dropped recently. Coster-Waldau, who was in the surprise horror hit Mama, can be seen on the season three return of Game of Thrones on March 31 on HBO, and later this summer will star in the Tom Cruise sci-fi epic Oblivion.

It’s Friday. It is so, so close to the weekend (it may even be the weekend where you are) that it is definitely time for some more light-hearted fare. To preface and to be fair, almost all fan-generated content -- revamped trailers, mash-ups, memes, infographics, whatever -- is garbage. It really shows you why some people get paid to do these artistic complements and why others are doing them at home, alone, in their parents' basements. However, if you are going to create fan-art, at least pick a show that everyone loves…better yet, pick two.

That’s exactly what The Smart Sandwich decided to do. Very much like our previously covered love for the Arrested Westeros website, it rubs us just the right way. The two shows in question are not at all similar, but that is what gives these poster mash-ups their charm. Despite the very different tones and subject matter, Parks and Recreation and Game of Thrones actually go together like pickles and gravy…wait. Peanut butter and jelly then. I love these two shows, and to make GoT "house banners" for the characters in P&R is simply genius and hilarious.

The artist behind these banners, posters, or whatever you want to call them included all of our favorite Pawneeans and came up with matching slogans for the houses. My favorite? A tie. Swanson’s eggs-and-bacon-themed look with the motto "Rectangle. America. Megaphone. Monday. Butthole." And the sleek and simple House Haverford’s DJ Roomba graphic with "Treat yo self" as his motto.
