The quality of celebrity wax figures can really be hit or miss. Sometimes you get amazing results, like Travis Barker, whose replica was so good that even sister-in-law Khloé Kardashian couldn’t tell wax from man. Others aren’t so lucky, like when Dwayne Johnson’s figure went viral for its savagely inaccurate skin tone. Marvel actor Simu Liu is the latest to be honored with sculptures from Madame Tussauds, and he seemed very, very happy, as he thanked the museum for what was apparently a “sexually arousing experience.”

Simu Liu is having quite the moment. In addition to getting engaged last year, he’s had a steady presence on our screens, with a big one hitting the 2026 movie calendar later this year in the MCU blockbuster Avengers: Doomsday. He had another reason to celebrate recently, as he attended the unveiling of two Madame Tussauds wax figures of himself, which he shared to Instagram with a candid message of gratitude to the museum:

OK, what in the world is going on with these Simu Liu figures? I actually feel like I need to touch them to make sure I’m not just looking at the Barbie actor standing amidst two of his clones. It’s one of those Tom Hiddleston situations, where the wax figure looks more like the actor than the actor himself.

In that third slide, you can only tell the human from the replica from the outfits they’re wearing. I half expect to see Is It Cake?’s Mikey Day walk out with a knife.

I’m so happy for Simu Liu that he had such a positive experience with Madame Tussauds, but he certainly wasn’t the only celebrity speaking out in awe of the museum’s work. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star Ming-Na Wen responded enthusiastically in the comments:

The museum's artists used two of Simu Liu’s red carpet looks as inspiration for the wax figures. According to Madame Tussauds, Liu sported a powder-blue Versace suit to the Barbie premiere, and the figure depicting that outfit will be displayed at the Orlando location. The mulberry-suited figure, meanwhile, draws inspiration from Liu’s appearance at the 2024 People’s Choice Awards. It will be housed in New York.

Of all the Madame Tussauds wax figures we’ve seen of our favorite celebrities, these two might just be the most real-looking, in my opinion. Being able to see these at their respective museums will be a treat for fans as we wait for the release of the upcoming Marvel movie Avengers: Doomsday this December.

It truly is a small, small world, and James Marsden and Olivia Munn are just another set of celebrities that prove it. It was announced that the Paradise actor will be joining Season 2 of Munn’s Apple TV+ show, Your Friends And Neighbors, which is currently releasing its first season on the 2025 TV schedule. However, the upcoming production of Season 2 won’t be the first introduction for the seasoned actors, and the story of how they reconnected later in life is so cute.

One might assume these two Hollywood vets first met on a shared film set, but they actually are from the same hometown in Oklahoma. Marsden revealed to People that he actually met the Predator actress before she was booking gigs, and only shortly after he had found some success himself:

Every time a celebrity reveals they knew another celebrity before they got famous, an angel gets its wings. Never forget high school sweethearts Jack Antonoff and Scarlett Johansson, who took it one step further and were each other’s prom dates in high school.

I mean, what are the chances that Munn happened to be besties with Marsden’s sister? They attended the same high school, but were not there at the same time, as the Enchanted actor is seven years older than his future co-star. Even growing up in the same town, they might still have never met. The story could have ended there. Marsden’s success could have fizzled after Party of Five, and Munn could have never made it to Hollywood.

Clearly, that didn’t happen, and thank goodness for that. They both are way too talented and attractive not to be famous actors, in my opinion. After both individually finding fame in Hollywood, the Best of Me actor says the two reconnected, and I can’t get over the New Girl actress’ sweet reaction to seeing him again:

I’m sure when they had dinner at Applebee's all those years ago, neither one of them could have predicted the X-Men: Apocalypse actress would be one half of a celebrity couple, married with two kids to comic John Mulaney. Or that Marsden would be Golden Globe-nominated for a reality sitcom about jury duty. Yet that’s where these two stand as they head into filming their first official project together.

Even though Apple TV+ subscription holders are still awaiting new episodes of Your Friends And Neighbors Season 1, Season 2 has already been renewed, with pre-production in full swing. Hopefully, this means we will meet Marsden’s character later this year on the popular streaming service. It’s rare for a TV show to be picked up for a second season this quickly. In addition to the A-list cast, it’s only further evidence to show this Jon Hamm-led crime dramedy is set to become one of the best shows on Apple TV+.

So, I couldn't be happier that these two actors from the same hometown are reuniting on such a successful project! Season 2 can't come fast enough.

When John Mulaney came out with Everybody’s in L.A. in May 2024, I wrote about why the former Saturday Night Live writer’s Netflix original series was a game-changer for late night TV. And now that the continuation/follow-up/whatever you want to call it – Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney – is out, I am once again here to preach the gospel to anyone with a Netflix subscription. And while we’re only one episode into the 12-week run, the suit-wearing stand-up comedian is once again blowing me away with his spin on the tried-and-true format.

Mulaney, who has long been an open book about everything ranging from his sobriety journey to wife Olivia Munn’s cancer fight to him becoming a father of two, was once again incredibly open, sincere, and hilarious when it came to the more uncomfortable parts of life. And I have to admit, this is remarkably refreshing to see. Hear me out…

Everybody's Live With John Mulaney Started With Cancer And Sobriety Jokes, And They Weren't Tasteless

A lot has happened in the comedian’s life between his first and second late night TV show runs, and he started off the premiere episode of Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney by tackling two of the biggest stories surrounding him: sobriety and cancer. And though Mulaney was quick to joke about Olivia Munn’s breast cancer treatment making “her, at times, so dumb,” he said it such a loving, caring, and hilarious way that it never felt cheap, crude, or tasteless.

At one point, he talked about Munn having “cancer brain, not brain cancer,” and how the various treatments she’s undergone during her challenging, multi-year fight have made her a bit ditzy at times. At another part in his opening monologue (with clipboard in hand), Mulaney addressed his previous drug issues by describing the show as a “live jazz-like unpredictable talk show” and that he couldn’t do cocaine or adderall anymore, so he’s making it the world’s problem. Will the show get his heart rate up to the level where he feels alive? “We shall see,” as he put it.

Hell, The Main Theme Of The First Episode Was 'Lending People Money'

As was the case with Everybody’s in L.A., Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney will have a different theme for each episode. But unlike the first go-around with its more Los Angeles-centric topics, the first episode in his new show was about someone everyone loves talking about: lending people money.

I love how, instead of starting off with something that doesn’t make everyone cringe, Mulaney came out swinging to make us feel as uncomfortable as humanly possible. But this doesn’t mean it wasn’t funny, because watching folk singer Joan Baez, and best Batman actor Michael Keaton answer strangers’ calls about lending or borrowing money from friends and family was honestly one of the funniest experiences I’ve had on the 2025 TV schedule so far.

I Think The Cute, Fluffier Humor Of Other Late Night Shows Is Great, But This Is Honestly So Refreshing

Don’t get me wrong, I totally see why shows like The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert typically have lighter and fluffier segments on their respective shows. People don’t want to be getting all worked up and excitable right before bed, and so games, celebrity interviews, and happy-go-lucky moments involving the best talk show hosts go a long way. But let me tell you, Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney is so refreshing with its more personal and uncomfortable touches.

I mean, where else are you going to see a focus group featuring different people playing Willy Loman from Death of a Salesman, Richard Kind talk about loaning people money, or Saymo the robot making things awkward? That all happened in the first episode, by the way.

If the remaining 11 episodes of Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney are as wild and personal as the premiere, then we’re in for one hell of a ride.

John Mulaney is highly regarded amongst fans and fellow comedians, and one of the reasons for that is arguably that he doesn’t mind inserting himself into his material. Several years ago, the 42-year-old stand-up comedian went to rehab for addiction struggles and subsequently joked about it on SNL and in other venues. He’s continued to be candid about such topics and, more recently, his wife – actress Olivia Munn – also did. Munn specifically recalled the intense way she helped Mulaney with his drug recovery post-rehab.

In December 2020, the Mulaney star – who’s dealt with drug and alcohol addiction for years – entered rehab to participate in a 60-day program and checked out by February 2021. He and Olivia Munn went public with their relationship around May 2021 around the time that Mulaney filed for divorce from his wife of six years, Annamarie Tendler. The comedian was the subject of a cover story for GQ and, as part of the spread, Munn also recalled their relationship dynamics being rough around the time they got together:

The X-Men: Apocalypse star also mentioned that her partner believed he might relapse at some point. While the knowledge that the two were expecting a child (their eventual son, Malcolm) kept the Saturday Night Live alum upbeat, he was still concerned that he’d relapse. So, when the actress was around six months pregnant, she staged a mini-intervention for her beau and began initiating random drug tests, which they still do today. John Mulaney went on to explain just why he appreciates how he and his partner operate now:

Many of the Bear guest star’s recent drug struggles were chronicled in his acclaimed comedy special, Baby J, which debuted for Netflix subscription holders in 2023. The star didn’t hold back when musing about his “cocaine stories,” his intervention and more. One could certainly argue that the special features some all-time Mulaney jokes. As of right now, he seems to be thriving from a professional perspective and seems to be content with his personal life – amid some big changes – as well.

Earlier this year, Olivia Munn and John Mulaney sparked marriage rumors and, by July 2024, the two exchanged vows in New York. By September, they also welcomed their second child (a daughter named Méi June Mulaney) via surrogate. Munn and Mulaney have reportedly continued to support each other, with the latter being by his wife’s side amid her breast cancer diagnosis. It’s lovely to see that these two are standing by each other’s sides amid health challenges and more, and one can only wish them the best.

Father’s Day is a big day for posting on the Internet, and celebrities are no exception. Amidst posts like Bruce Willis and Sylvester Stallone’s daughters paying tribute to the famous actors, John Mulaney shared his own post hanging out with his son Malcolm, then promptly deleted it. A ring on his finger led Internet sleuths to come to one conclusion: He’s already married Olivia Munn. While that may be true, there could be a separate culprit to the deleted photograph. 

The first image that John Mulaney posted with son Malcolm was of the two of them at the breakfast table, hanging out. Eagle-eyed fans spotted John Mulaney with what looked to be wedding band on the relevant ring finger, while his little boy wore a shirt that read, ‘Yes, I know I look like my daddy.’ The photo was up for a short while before it was deleted and replaced with the following post of the two playing with bubble wrap on the floor.   

Having said this, the image is still wafting around the Internet, leading many fans to speculate that he and Olivia Munn quietly tied the knot. The couple announced they were having a baby together shortly after he exited rehab and divorced his then-wife AnneMarie Tindler. He and Munn welcomed their son late in 2021, but have kept a fairly low-profile when it comes to their relationship.

The ring on the left finger is always interesting, and it’s entirely possible the couple didn’t want to share big news in a random Instagram post. However, I’d also like to point out the first image Mulaney shared of he and Malcolm was a front-facing photo. While both were looking down at food on the table, the couple have also taken some pains to keep their kid’s face off of social media. 

In fact, Olivia Munn’s been careful about sharing footage with their little one in more recent months too. Malcolm’s on camera a lot, but he’s often not facing the camera, or is seen in sunglasses or in a side profile. Sometimes, his head is mostly cut off. While there are photos of him front-facing as a baby on Instagram, more often than not, his back is to the camera now. 

It's a move that some celebrity parents have taken in order to give their children choice about what they want to share and when they want to share it, down the line while still being able to share some aspects of their private lives. The couple that comes to mind that does this most notably is probably Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzengger, who often hide their children’s faces in photos and other content. Schwarzenegger’s brand in particular is so focused around being a mom that it makes sense she’d want them to be involved in her posts, but this way they get privacy too. 

Listen, it’s entirely possible John Mulaney may have just revealed he and Olivia Munn tied the knot on accident and deleted the photo because of it. If that’s true they’ll probably confirm in their own way one day, but right now they have a little one to raise and the actress is in the middle of a cancer battle and just had a hysterectomy this spring. We'll keep you updated. 

On Wednesday, X-Men: Apocalypse alum Olivia Munn revealed that in 2023, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and that a month after her biopsy, she had a double mastectomy. The 43-year-old star, who was most recently seen at the Academy Awards on Sunday, wrote that her journey has significantly impacted her health, but that she hopes that others find inspiration and support in her story. Since sharing, a slew of celebrities have rushed to social media to support Munn and share their kind words and thoughts. 

Munn shared photos of herself on Instagram undergoing treatments along with a breakdown of what her cancer journey has been like so far. She shared that she’s had four surgeries in the past 10 months, and has spent many days in bed. Munn went on to say that she felt the need to keep her diagnosis private because: “I needed to catch my breath and get through some of the hardest parts before sharing.” Despite the dire news, support from Munn’s peers and fellow stars has been pouring in. Retired competitive figure skater Michelle Kwan wrote:

The actress, who appeared on Tales of the Walking Dead, also wrote that if it wasn’t for her OB/GYN, Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi, she would’ve found her cancer until a year later, when she had her next scheduled mammogram. She stated that Dr. Aliabadi decided to be proactive and calculated her Breast Cancer Risk Assessment score, which eventually led to a biopsy that showed that she had “Luminal B cancer in both breasts”. 

Another one of the stars who reached out during this extremely tough time was Jillian Bell, who wrote:

Munn continued, stating that she’s a lucky case because she and her doctor were able to catch it early enough before it became too severe, allowing her to have more treatment options. She went on to thank her entire medical team, calling Dr. Aliabadi her “guardian angel”, along with her friends and family. 

She also thanked her partner, comedian John Mulaney, writing: “I’m so thankful to John for the nights he spent researching what every operation and medication meant, and what side effects and recovery I could expect. For being there before I went into each surgery and being there when I woke up…”

Just by the comments, it’s obvious that her emotional post drove many to tears, and she has a huge community rallying around her. Ming-Na Wen wrote:

Olivia Munn’s cancer journey is absolutely shocking and heartbreaking. Hopefully, her story will inspire others to act early and talk to their doctors about testing and preventative measures. We wish nothing but the best for Munn and her loved ones during this time, and are hoping for a complete recovery.

John Mulaney has written sketches, hosted and appeared in musical skits for SNL from seasons 34-39 (which are available to stream with a Peacock subscription). Mulaney's comedy specials and body of work aside, he's also been candid about his personal life, which became a major topic of conversation in 2021. At that time, he and his then-wife, Anna Marie Tendler, split and the star subsequently moved on with actress Olivia Munn. Now, Tendler has written a memoir, and she's getting open about different facets of her life, and that could even include her marriage to Mulaney.

If you're familiar with Anna Marie Tendler’s Instagram account, you'll know that the visual artist floods her social media space with artistic photos of flowers, interior decor, cityscapes and more. This time around, Tendler posted something a little different, as she announced the summer release of her new memoir, Men Have Called Her Crazy. While sharing the news, she also cheekily posed a question to her followers, “You didn’t think I was just taking photos of sunsets and seashores this whole time, did you?” Take a look at her post:

Based on the description she shared and Simon & Schuster’s book synopsis, the multimedia artist will touch on the subjects of mental health, womanhood and family. It's suggested that many of the moments that caused her mental health to decline came from the failed relationships in her life. Despite the seemingly dark subject matter, it seems the book will convey a strong message of hope for those who choose to check out the text.

Anna Marie Tendler’s name came up in John Mulaney’s jokes from SNL and his stand-up shows frequently while they were together. Mulaney and Tendler were married on July 5, 2014. Three months after the actor/writer completed his 60-rehab stay following his addiction battle, the two announced their separation in May 2021. Tender told People that she was “heartbroken” that the Emmy Award winner decided to end their marriage. In September 2021, he announced that new girlfriend Olivia Munn was pregnant, and Mulaney and Munn welcomed their baby, a boy named Malcolm, that November.

In an essay for Elle, Anna Marie Tendler wrote that while her divorce from her former hubby was pending, she spiraled into a depression. For the first two weeks of 2021, she was hospitalized for depression, self-harm and suicidal ideation. She credited her French bulldog, Petunia, for helping her get through the end of her marriage and, sadly, the dog passed away that April. Through Men Have Called Her Crazy, I’m sure we’ll get a more in-depth look at what she went through during her times of struggle and what ultimately helped her heal.

All in all, the upcoming book should make for a fairly interesting read. And, after seeing this announcement, I'm getting the impression that the 38-year-old visual artist found closure in regard to moving on to the next chapter in her life.

While Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe has become a widely loved superhero franchise, there are still plenty who pine for superhero flicks of old like Fox’s X-Men saga. The long-running film series had its ups and downs but is regarded as being instrumental in helping to kick off the modern comic book movie craze. Though the features are a lot of fun, the stars themselves have since revealed that working conditions weren’t always easy. Many have attributed this to Bryan Singer, who helmed four installments. Much has been said about how he allegedly operated on set, and we’re going to discuss comments from the cast. 

Franchise OGs Halle Berry And Hugh Jackman Have Been Honest About Working With Bryan Singer

Bryan Singer’s work in the superhero genre began with X-Men, which dominated the box office in 2000 and was met with considerable praise. Based on the quality of the production, one might think that the set was harmonious, though Halle Berry has since claimed that she and Singer had fights amid production. Berry once detailed just how serious their behind-the-scenes confrontations would get: 

It should be pointed out that the Oscar winner didn’t specify the productions on which they had their disagreements. Though what she did say is that the flair-ups were partially initiated by “because of whatever he’s struggling with.” Based on what’s been said about Bryan Singer (who previously sued for alleged rape), he’s been known to disappear from set from time to time. Berry even mentioned that he didn’t always seem “present” when he was around. Considering the stories that have circulated in the past several years, one can’t help but wonder how the stars now feel about the legacy of the films. Hugh Jackman was asked whether Singer’s reputation taints them and provided a diplomatic answer: 

It’s hard not to empathize with Hugh Jackman – and his colleagues as well – as they produced some beloved films that clearly left a dent in pop culture. It’s easy to understand why the Australian actor would be somewhat conflicted when reconciling his pride over the work and his feelings on the director. Though some of the actors who worked on the later movies provided answers that were a bit more clean-cut.

Additional Comments Have Been Made By Sophie Turner And Olivia Munn

The two prequel films that Bryan Singer directed, Days of Future Past and Apocalypse, brought in an array of new faces. One of those actors is Olivia Munn, who portrayed Betsy Braddock a.k.a. Psylocke in the latter film. It was her first major studio movie and, as Munn explained, she had her share of struggles with Singer while making it:

The actress further claimed that he’d send texts to the actors, in which he’d tell them that he was busy but that they should continue filming without him. While making those comments she also mentioned Fox’s eventual decision to hire him as the director of Bohemian Rhapsody, which he was later fired from. In that case, he reportedly clashed with lead actor Rami Malek, and Jean Grey actress Sophie Turner cited Malek when discussing her experience with the director on X-Men: Apocalypse:

The various comments that have been documented so far indicate that the stars’ time working with Bryan Singer was less than favorable. Singer was even called out by Jennifer Lawrence, who played Mystique in the prequel films, when she discussed the “emotional men'' she'd work with on film sets. Amid all of these sentiments, another X-Men alum provided a different kind of outlook more recently.

Brian Cox Recalled Working With Bryan Singer On X2

X2 is still revered as one of the franchise’s best installments, and one of the reasons for that is Brian Cox’s pitch-perfect performance as the villainous William Stryker. Cox was recently asked about what it was like working with the Usual Suspects director and, while speaking with Yahoo! Entertainment, he mentioned that the filmmaker was “under a lot of strain” during production. He also shed some light on his creative process: 

Despite everything that’s transpired with Bryan Singer over the years, few would deny that he’s produced some memorable films, X-Men-related or otherwise. Singer hasn’t been credited as the director of a movie since 2018 and, after the allegations and array of comments from actors, one can only speculate as to whether he’ll ever helm another motion picture.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings made Simu Liu a bonafide movie star. The superhero film gave audiences the wonderful friendship of Shang-Chi and Awkafina’s Katy, but there’s another friendship they might’ve missed. The Marvel film exposed the hilariously sarcastic friendship between Liu and The Daily Show’s Ronny Chieng. So it should be no surprise that the Shang-Chi actor took a shot at Chieng while thanking Ryan Reynolds and Olivia Munn for their kind book words.

Of course, the Kim’s Convenience alum dug up his infamous stock photos – this time, it was Zumba – to celebrate his memoir We Were Dreamers: An Immigrant Superhero Origin Story making the New York Times Bestsellers list. In celebrating the momentous occasion, the stock photos popped on Liu’s Twitter as he thanked Olivia Munn and Ryan Reynolds for writing blurbs for his book. At the same time, he decided to take a nice swipe at his Shang-Chi co-star.

Ouch! That’s how you thank a friend for writing a book blurb for you. But Liu’s post was just a response to Chieng’s less-than-stellar words on the book jacket. Of course, it was in true Chieng fashion with his trademark sarcastic wit, so there’s nothing like getting a little online payback. Much like frenemies Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, the Shang-Chi co-stars are close enough to rib on each other.

Simu Liu and Ronny Chieng Have a Long History of Twitter Jabs

The Barbie star’s jab at his co-star and friend was nothing new, as the men have gone back and forth on and off-line for some time. Their internet “feud” goes back to 2017, when Simu Liu posted one of his thirsty shirtless pics. Immediately, Ronny Chieng jumped on Twitter to chastise the actor for not working hard enough for more abs. After Liu quipped Chieng was acting like an “unimpressed Asian father,” the Daily Show correspondent ended the funny thread, tweeting,

But Chieng wasn't the only one to get some jabs out. Simu Liu spearheaded the “Cancel Ronny Chieng” campaign after the comedian jokingly called for himself to be canceled after clapping back at online critics during his Netflix comedy special Speakeasy. The Shang-Chi actor wanted to help his friend get his wish by hopping onto Twitter.

Of course, the film and TV actor had no qualms about getting his co-star canceled. At least both actors have enough of a rapport to throw out jabs, quips, and inside jokes without it being mean-spirited. It appears their online back-and-forth is just their special form of communication.

In the aftermath of Yellowjackets Season 1, we have a hell of a lot of questions. The mystery-driven Showtime series established a pair of equally captivating dual storylines through its first 10 episodes, and anticipation for what’s coming next is at an extreme high. It’s actually difficult to pin down exactly which development in the series is most exciting – but certainly in the running is the idea that Season 2 will introduce audiences to the adult version of Lottie.

Recognized by fans on social media as The Antler Queen, Lottie (played by Courtney Eaton) has become a standout presence on Yellowjackets because of her prophet-esque visions of the future, and the fact that she is still alive in 2021 was among the many great bombshells dropped in the finale. Naturally, we’ve immediately started speculating about who could play adult Lottie in Yellowjackets Season 2, and after narrowing down a list of names, the following six seem like standout options for the gig.

Admittedly, Megan Gale doesn’t have an extensive amount of acting experience. She’s primarily known as a model, though she’s had roles in a few movies, and was actually director George Miller’s choice to play Diana Prince a.k.a. Wonder Woman in Justice League: Mortal – the live-action blockbuster that was cancelled before production started. These professional qualifications may not sound particularly impressive, but what would make the casting fun is that Gale has a connection to Courtney Eaton via the fact that they were both in Mad Max: Fury Road together.

Megan Gale and Courtney Eaton, respectively playing The Valkyrie and Cheedo The Fragile, only share a few scenes in the movie, but it’s one hell of a shared credit given that the blockbuster is widely considered one of the all-time great action films. There is also certainly a physical similarity between the two actors – most noticeably their long, black hair – and they have shared heritage both being part Māori.

Shannyn Sossamon

Shannyn Sossamon will forever be endeared to fans thanks to her breakout role opposite Heath Ledger in Brian Helgeland's A Knight's Tale, and she has spent her career starring in a wide range of genres – from the dark comedy of The Rules Of Attraction and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang to horror features like One Missed Call and Sinister 2. As far as small screen work goes, she’s had prominent roles on two network series in the last five years (Wayward Pines and Sleepy Hollow), and she could be a great fit into the Yellowjackets cast.

She wasn’t quite as young as Christina Ricci, Juliette Lewis, or Melanie Lynskey when she first got her start, but all the same Shannyn Sossamon is a presence with which we’ve become well-familiar in the last two decades, and that’s certainly a desirable energy to expand on as the ensemble cast grows with the show. Sossamon has the talent to pull off the role, and it could be a tremendous showcase for her.

Olivia Munn

Olivia Munn has come a long way since her time as a co-host on G4’s Attack of the Show!, as working with reputable filmmakers like Steven Soderbergh and Aaron Sorkin has successfully changed her profile in Hollywood. We haven’t yet seen her play a role quite like what we anticipate from adult Lottie in Yellowjackets Season 2, but one can also imagine her sincerely surprising in the part and deliver something unexpected with the part.

The Newsroom was a big turning point for Olivia Munn’s career, and Yellowjackets could possibly do something similar for her. She looks enough like Courtney Eaton to be convincing as her 25-years-older counterpart on the show, and she has the charisma to pull off the performance.

Maggie Q

While a number of actors have to pick a lane when it comes to big and small screen projects, Maggie Q has been killing it on both fronts since she made her Hollywood debut in 2001’s Rush Hour 2. In addition to being in sequel and franchise films including Mission: Impossible III, Live Free Or Die Hard, and the Divergent movies, she has been consistently working on television since 2010, with lead roles on shows including Nikita, Stalker, and Designated Survivor.

Maggie Q just launched a new series this year – the Fox comedy Pivoting with Eliza Coupe and Ginnifer Goodwin – but even if that series gets picked up for a second season hopefully she would be able to find time in her schedule for Yellowjackets Season 2, because she would be a great fit as adult Lottie. Fun added serendipity bonus: the “Q” in Maggie Q is short for Quigley, which is the last name of Christina Ricci's Misty on the show.

Élodie Yung

Élodie Yung’s on-screen reputation is primarily as an ass-kicker – starting with her roles in French action films like District 13: Ultimatum and enhanced by her performances in film and television like G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Daredevil, and The Hitman’s Bodyguard. She’s presently getting the opportunity to stretch her dramatic chops starring as the lead in the Fox crime series The Cleaning Lady, but schedule permitting she could be an exciting addition as adult Lottie in Yellowjackets.

We’ve seen Élodie Yung do magic doing physical gymnastics, but it could be fascinating to see her exercise some mental gymnastics as the prophet-esque character. She certainly has a powerful allure, and that’s going to be a necessary aspect of the part given that it seems Lottie might be running her own cult in her life after the wilderness. And who knows? Maybe her full embrace of her seemingly supernatural visions has also seen her embrace the spiritual side of martial arts.

Bérénice Marlohe

The opportunity to play a Bond girl is surely an appealing one for most actors, and Bérénice Marlohe most certainly turned a lot of heads with her turn as Severine in Sam Mendes’ Skyfall. It admittedly isn’t a massive role, as she suffers a grim fate at the hands of Javier Bardem’s Raoul Silva, but that performance and her work since – not to mention a physical resemblance to Courtney Eaton – should put her in the running for Yellowjackets Season 2.

Bérénice Marlohe has certainly mixed things up in the years since Skyfall, working with Terrence Malick (Song To Song), David Lynch (Twin Peaks), and Will Ferrell (The Spoils Before Dying). Her ability to suppress her natural accent would obviously be an important thing if she were to play adult Lottie (it wouldn’t make much sense if the character suddenly became French), but she certainly has the presence and charisma for the part.

Yellowjackets Season 2 doesn’t yet have a production start date, nor does it have any kind of set release date – but we can hope that it won’t be long before we start hearing more updates on the casting front. The importance of learning from history and preserving truth cannot be stressed enough, especially in today’s trying times. Apparently, Netflix has chosen to comment on this pressing matter by releasing - days before the Fourth of July - the most uproarious, raunchy, violent, and historically inaccurate movie to poke fun at the United States since Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s Team America: World Police. Produced in part by acclaimed filmmakers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the America: The Motion Picture cast boasts some really impressive voice talent, including Channing Tatum, whom we will spotlight first in the following breakdown of who is voicing who in the animated comedy.

Channing Tatum (George Washington)

I believe that Phil Lord and Christopher Miller’s casting of Channing Tatum as young-looking undercover cop Greg Jenko in 2012’s 21 Jump Street, along with the semi-autobiographical Magic Mike from director Steven Soderbergh the same year, had a lot to do with the reinvention of his career. It led to a turning point for the Step Up star, who was taken more seriously than ever in films like the true crime/sports drama Foxcatcher or Quentin Tarantino’s western whodunnit The Hateful Eight and he became one of the more well-respected and versatile actors of his generation. The 41-year-old is reteaming with Lord and Miller for the first time reprising Superman in The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, on America: The Motion Picture as both a co-producer and as the voice of an eager, bladed gauntlet-wearing version of the Father of our Country, George Washington.

Jason Mantzoukas (Samuel Adams)

Also enjoying a surprisingly versatile career thanks to previous success in comedies is Jason Mantzoukas, well known as the unforgivably crass Rafi on FX’s The Leagueor popping up in more serious projects like John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum, in which he played the mysterious Tick Tock Man, or opposite Mark Wahlberg in the sci-fi thriller Infinite (streaming exclusively on Paramount+). The comedian of Greek descent has also lent his voice to various animated movies like The LEGO Batman Movie, animated series like the Boys-esque Invincible (one of the most acclaimed 2021 TV shows on Amazon Prime), or as co-host of the popular How Did This Get Made? podcast. Also known for voicing several characters on Netflix’s Big Mouth, Mantzoukas’ latest contribution to the streaming platform is playing founding father Samuel Adams, portrayed as a beer-swilling bro in America: The Motion Picture.

Olivia Munn (Thomas Edison)

Another unique historical rewrite incorporated into America: The Motion Picture is the depiction of Thomas Edison (yes, you read that right - they put the Wizard of Menlo Park Thomas Edison in here instead of the Declaration of Independence scribe Thomas Jefferson) as a female scientist with mechanical expertise as advanced as Tony Stark. Voicing the superhero-esque genius is Olivia Munn, who is also no stranger to superhero movies having once provided satirical commentary on them as co-host of Attack of the Show! on G4 (which is apparently being revived) and played Psylocke in X-Men: Apocalypse in 2016. The actress author of the 2010 memoir Suck It, Wonder Woman!: The Misadventures of a Hollywood Geek will also appear in the crime drama The Gateway opposite Marvel movies star Frank Grillo and another thriller called Aleppo, now in post-production.

Judy Greer (Martha Dandridge)

Another veteran of the Marvel movies (namely as Scott Lang’s ex-wife, Maggie, in Ant-Man and Ant-Man and the Wasp) among other franchises (2015’s Jurassic World and the new Halloween movies) is Judy Greer, who voices George Washington’s wife, Martha Washington, when she was still known as Martha Dandridge in America: The Motion Picture. The Netflix original comedy also marks a reunion for the 46-year-old actress with director Matt Thompson - an executive producer of FX’s long-running, animated espionage comedy Archer, on which Greer voices the promiscuous Figgis Agency secretary Cheryl Tunt. She also voices the title character of the PBS children’s series Let’s Go Luna and has two other projects about the history of the United States in the works, including The White House Plumbers (set around the Watergate Scandal) and the Showtime miniseries The First Lady.

Beyond the screen, Judy Greer's voice can be heard as the narrator of several audiobooks, including Liz Tuccillo's How To Be Single, and Max Brooks' recent novel, Devolution. She also narrated her own book, the cleverly titled I Don't Know What You Know Me From.

Bobby Moynihan (Paul Revere)

America: The Motion Picture also marks a reunion for Bobby Moynihan with his DuckTales reboot co-star Jason Mantzoukas and a few alums of the Saturday Night Live cast whom we will name soon. The 44-year-old actor, writer, and comedian provides the voice of Paul Revere (remembered in reality for calling attention to the British Forces’ approach before the battles of Lexington and Concord), which, actually, is his second role related to politics in 2021 after playing the communications director for Ted Danson’s character on Mr. Mayor on NBC. You can also hear his voice on an episode of the latest of Disney+’s Star Wars TV shows (Star Wars: The Bad Batch), the newest addition of Crank Yankers on Comedy Central, and the animated series Loafy as the titular weed-dealing manatee.

Raoul Max Trujillo (Geronimo)

I cannot find anything from history suggesting that famous Apache tribe leader Geronimo ever fought alongside George Washington during the American Revolution, or having one arm, but I guess that is how the makers of America: The Motion Picture decided to portray him. At least he is voiced by actual Native American descendent Raoul Max Trujillo, who, in addition to playing intergalactic mercenary Lockspur in Riddick, has also played many other indigenous people from history in more accurate period pieces like the TNT miniseries Into the West or Terrence Malick’s retelling of John Smith’s romance with Pocahontas in The New World, as well as a Mayan warrior in Mel Gibson’s Apocalypto in 2006. Speaking of Mayans, Trujillo is a series regular on the Sons of Anarchy spin-off Mayans M.C. as Che “Taza” Romero and will play the Ponca tribe chief White Eagle in an upcoming biopic based on the life of Sacajawea.

Killer Mike (Blacksmith)

The character of a blacksmith whom George Washington enlists for help during the American Revolution is just about the biggest acting role yet for rap artist Michael “Killer Mike” Render - not counting the times he has played himself, such as in ATL from 2006. However, the second half of the Grammy-nominated hip-hop duo Run the Jewels (whose hit song “Nobody Speaks” has appeared in countless movies, TV shows, and commercials) does have a couple of other voice acting credits, most notably his recurring role on the animated sci-fi comedy series Frisky Dingo (co-created by America: The Motion Picture writer Matt Thompson) for Adult Swim. Not to mention, this is only the most recent time he has worked with Netflix, who released his boundary-pushing and thought-provoking reality series Trigger Warning with Killer Mike in 2019.

Andy Samberg (Benedict Arnold)

America: The Motion Picture, in which Andy Samberg plays infamous Benedict Arnold, is also the latest of several times the former Saturday Night Live star has worked with Netflix, including the visual album The Unauthorized Bash Brothers Experience, in which he rapped as Jose Canseco. The Golden Globe-winning Brooklyn Nine-Nine cast member has also worked with Hulu, most recently for the delightful 2020 rom-com Palm Springs, as well as Quibi (when it was still a thing) as a guest star on Mapleworth Murder, and has hit the big screen to great results, like with the acclaimed music industry satire Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping in 2016. In addition to starring in Hotel Transylvania: Transformania, Samberg and the rest of The Lonely Island are currently working on a new, partially live action Chip ’n’ Dale movie, starring he and John Mulaney as the titular heroic chipmunks.

Will Forte (Abraham Lincoln)

What an honor it must be for Will Forte to be the voice of Abraham Lincoln - who, at least, has to be represented more truthfully in America: The Motion Picture than he was in 2013’s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, right? This is actually the third time the former star of Fox sitcom The Last Man on Earth and veteran Netflix collaborator (most recently with a role in the fantasy series Sweet Tooth) has played our sixteenth president after doing so in both 2014’s The LEGO Movie and its sequel and the second time he has played a president after succeeding Will Ferrell’s role as George W. Bush on Saturday Night Live. Speaking of the long-running sketch comedy series, Forte is reportedly bringing back his most popular character, MacGruber, for a new Peacock original TV series.

Simon Pegg (King James)

Rounding out the America: The Motion Picture cast is the villain of the story, King James, voiced by one of the most beloved British actors and filmmakers of his generation, Simon Pegg. After exploding onto the American mainstream as star and co-writer of one of the greatest horror movies (and horror-comedy movies) of all time with Shaun of the Dead, the Spaced star went on to become an integral part of some properties he was already a fan of, including the Mission: Impossible movies, J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek reboot, and the Amazon Prime original series adaptation of The Boys as the father of Hughie, which was originally written with him in mind. In 2020, Pegg also reunited with his frequent collaborator and friend Nick Frost for the horror-comedy miniseries Truth Seekers and has two Mission: Impossible movies with Tom Cruise in the works as we speak.

With a cast this amazing, there is no way America: The Motion Picture cannot be a fun revisionist history comedy. Watch it streaming on Netflix starting Wednesday, June 30, 2021.

With many film productions ramping back up and putting safety protocols in place to mitigate infection to COVID-19, they still walk a thin tightrope and are constantly at risk of having to shut down. And unfortunately it looks like that’s exactly what happened recently with Olivia Wilde’s new movie. Here’s the latest.

Olivia Wilde, known for her role as Quorra in Tron: Legacy, had hopped into the director’s chair for the first time last year with her debut Booksmart, a movie that received wild acclaim from critics. Now, she’s back at it with the horror movie Don’t Worry Darling starring herself, Harry Styles, Chris Pine, and Florence Pugh. But production for the movie has come to a grinding halt after a production member was tested positive for COVID-19, according to Deadline.

They had been filming in downtown Los Angeles with safety protocols in place when the news broke. Reportedly, the positive test wasn’t from one of the main cast members. Once they found out about the test, everyone quickly isolated. The film will be shut down for 14 days per quarantine standards.

What we know about Olivia Wilde’s latest movie, Don’t Worry Darling, is slim. But, we do know it’ll be a psychological thriller set in an isolated, utopian community the 1950s Californian desert. Originally Shia Lebeouf was set to be in it, but due to a scheduling conflict, he had to drop out and was replaced by Harry Styles.

The script was written on spec by Shane and Carey Van Dyke before Olivia Wilde and co-writer Katie Silberman rewrote it. They worked together on Booksmart, and will also reportedly be teaming up once again to tackle a Spider-Woman movie for Marvel. Clearly there's some great chemistry there.

Olivia Wilde’s movie, of course, isn’t the only one that has had to be shut down recently due to the pandemic. Despite many best efforts to contain the virus with safety protocols in place, some have still had to shut down because a cast or crew member was infected. This is just part of the new safety protocols in place on sets around the world.

In early October, Jurassic World: Dominion had a few positive cases and also had to shut down for two weeks, according to their director Colin Trevorrow. Before that, the cast and crew of The Batman production, starring Robert Pattinson, had to go back in quarantine after a test came back positive. Reportedly, the positive test was Robert Pattinson’s.

Of course, some movie productions get shut down for entirely different reasons. Back in June, the movie production Courting Mom & Dad starring Scott Baio didn’t comply with “LA County Health Orders and SAG-AFTRA protocols.” Due to this, SAG-AFTRA reportedly shut the production down.

It's an unique time for major franchises like Star Wars and X-Men. With the Skywalker Saga behind us, it's unclear exactly when the property will return to the big screen. And now that Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, moviegoers are left wondering if/when mutants will join the MCU. X-Men: Apocalypse actress Olivia Munn recently whipped out her Psylocke sword at home, resulting in a hilariously disastrous video. And if it the clip wasn't delightful enough, someone added a lightsaber to the footage for good measure and one awesome crossover.

X-Men fans were thrilled to learn that Olivia Munn would be playing Psylocke in X-Men: Apocalypse. While her role ended up being fairly brief, Munn did a ton of awesome action sequences, including work with duel katanas. Now Munn's hilarious fail video where she hit her wall while attempting to swing Psylocke's sword has been given a lightsaber. And I can't look away.

It's the crossover we didn't know we needed. Because as if Olivia Munn didn't charm countless Twitter users by posting her at-home sword blooper, the use of a lightsaber adds an extra level of humor. Plus who doesn't want to see Munn wield a lightsaber after X-Men: Apocalypse?

Olivia Munn went viral for a video she posted after finding her Psylocke sword from X-Men: Apocalypse during isolation in her home. The Newsroom actress tried out some of her tricks from playing a mutant, and eventually made contact with the wall and/or art behind her. Now we can see what that might look like if Munn was full of midichlorians.

In the edited video shown above, we can see Olivia Munn in her home rocking a blue lightsaber, so she's definitely on the light side of The Force. She begins twirling around the mystical blade, resulting in the saber's signature sound effects. Just like in the original video she picks up speed and momentum, before promptly making contact with the wall (and hanging art) behind her.

That's when the lightsaber joke gets taken a step further. The contact actually results in the art falling off the wall. What's more, the weapon's blade also starts a small fire when it hits the wall. We've seen how the heat of a lightsaber can cut through powerful steel, so Olivia Munn's wall really had no chance.

After making a strong impression in X-Men: Apocalypse (and her character making it out live), moviegoers were hoping to see Olivia Munn appear in another X-Men movie. But she was noticeably absent from Dark Phoenix, which ended up being the final installment in the main franchise. Hopefully Munn's return could happen in a Deadpool sequel, but only time will tell.

The main X-Men franchise came to an end with Simon Kinberg's Dark Phoenix in 2019. The ill-fated movie ended the long running franchise, which has struggled in its final days. Prior to Dark Phoenix was X-Men: Apocalypse, which also failed to resonate with audiences when it hit theaters. Apocalypse introduced Olivia Munn's Psylocke who was a sword wielding badass throughout the movie's action sequences. Munn recently tried to use her skills from isolation, and the results are a hilarious disaster.

While Psylocke didn't have a ton fo dialogue in X-Men: Apocalypse, Olivia Munn put a ton of work into her role. This includes extensive fight and sword training, in order to bring the character's signature psychic blade to life on the big screen. Munn found Psylocke's sword during isolation, and made a video attempting some of her Apocalypse skills. Check out the hilarious video below,

Whoops. While Olivia Munn definitely seems to have retained her ability to swing Psylocke's sword in all its badass glory, there was something holding her back. Namely a wall that was directly behind the Newsroom actress while she attempted to make the above video. Luckily, she still decided to post this blooper for all of our enjoyment.

I'm personally hoping she might appear in a Deadpool sequel, but only time will tell.

2018’s award season was as packed with accolades for Bohemian Rhapsody as it was surrounded with controversy about Bryan Singer’s unexpected exit from the movie that had Dexter Fletcher assuming the role of director late in production. On set issues with the director were not isolated to Bohemian Rhapsody, however, as X-Men: Apocalypse’s Psylocke Olivia Munn can attest. The actress is now speaking out about her experience on the 2016 film, and it doesn't sound great. As she explains it:

Speaking with Variety, the Love Wedding Repeat actress remembers Bryan Singer being away from the set of the almost $200 million film for over a week to deal with “thyroid issues” about 3,000 miles away in Los Angeles. By her estimation, the director could have received treatment in the city in Canada during the extensive shoot.

The director has been dealing with sexual abuse allegations against him dating back to 1997. Ahead of production starting up on X-Men: Apocalypse, Bryan Singer was dealing with two lawsuits concerning allegations of abusing underaged boys, which were later dismissed. Though Singer’s publicist said in a response to Munn's comments that Singer was only off set for two days in the making of the blockbuster, Olivia Munn recalled her experience with the director as being abnormal:

Bryan Singer was fired from Bohemian Rhapsody with less than three weeks left on the film’s production schedule. The director reportedly clashed with Best Actor winner Rami Malek on the project, who later called the experience working with him “not pleasant.” X-Men’s Dark Phoenix actress Sophie Turner echoed Malek’s statements about her own time with the filmmaker.

Due to his reputation and more allegations in 2017 and 2019, Bryan Singer’s name was removed from BAFTA’s nomination for Bohemian Rhapsody and the GLAAD Media Awards withdrew the movie from the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation’s list of Outstanding Film as well. Singer was also initially going to make a Red Sonja reboot that has since been placed on hold. The director reportedly walked away from Bohemian Rhapsody’s record-breaking $800 million success with $40 million added to his pocket.

Olivia Munn had a supporting role in X-Men: Apocalypse as Psylocke, primarily featured in the film’s battle against Oscar Isaac’s En Sabah Nur as an ally of the villain. She did not reprise her role for Fox’s final X-Men series installment Dark Phoenix before rights to the franchise was turned over to Disney’s Marvel Studios.

Olviia Munn just starred in Netflix’s rom-com Love Wedding Repeat, and is set to lead the timely drama about a female movie executive called Violet.

*We’re about to get into spoilers for Netflix’s Love Wedding Repeat. So if you haven’t watched the new rom-com streaming yet, this article is probably not for you--at least, yet. *

Love Wedding Repeat basically sells itself as playing out similarly to Edge of Tomorrow’s “what if” possibilities, only in this rom-com starring Eleanor Tomlinson, Sam Claflin and Olivia Munn the multiple ways the story could happen are not relived by any one character. Instead, the movie seems to be an exercise in how the same story can be told many very different ways, with an “oracle” narrating the Netflix movie to separate each of the timelines. Which means its ending is a little bit confusing, as the movie plays out with more than one finale.

The basic premise of the movie is that eight people sit together at the “English” table during the wedding between English-born Hayley (Eleanor Tomlinson) and Italian-born Roberto (Tiziano Caputo). The eight people sitting together at the table have very different experiences depending on where their place cards are dropped by an adorable group of young kids during each timeline.

Every outcome is explored on screen, although the majority of the wedding experiences are relegated to a quick montage in the middle, leaving a movie that ultimately feels like it has two endings.

How Love Wedding Repeat Really Has Two Endings

While the Netflix rom-com movie has a lot of nods to Edge of Tomorrow’s “live. die. repeat” phrasing, the more apt comparison might be the movie Clue, which gives us a bunch of different possible ways the whodunnit may have played out. Similarly, Love Wedding Repeat focuses on two separate place card settings.

The Not-So-Satisfying Ending

In the not-so-satisfying ending, Hayley’s wedding is ruined when a former sexual partner Marc (Jack Farthing) shows up to stop the wedding. She and her brother Jack (Sam Claflin) plan to drug Marc with a sleeping pill, only the place settings get switched and their friend Bryan (Joel Fry) is drugged instead.

Due to a series of events, Jack continues to try and distract Marc instead of spending time with Dina (Olivia Munn), the woman he is interested in. Marc manages to ruin the wedding nonetheless and Robero calls the nuptials off after finding out Eleanor previously slept with Marc. Meanwhile, the drugged Bryan ruins the cake and even Jack gets headbutted in the face by his ex Amanda (Freida Pinto).

If only things had gone differently…

The Feel-Good Ending

In this version of events, Marc still shows up, but Jack accidentally drugs himself instead of Marc (or Bryan, as happened in the previous timeline). He falls asleep while conversing with Dina, but with the help of a lot of coffee, he is able to wake himself up enough to convince Marc not to ruin the wedding and convince Dina he’s a worthy guy.

Meanwhile, Bryan’s wedding speech goes off well and he lands a potential job opportunity, Marc realizes stopping the wedding won’t get him what he wants, Hayley and Roberto stick to completing their nuptials and other characters find happy endings.

In the most rom-com-oriented moment of them all, Jack finally gets a moment with Dina and while they are nearly interrupted, he tells the guy to sod off -- he actually drops an f-bomb -- and finally kisses Dina. It’s the moment the movie is waiting for, but as Sam Claflin and Olivia Munn told CinemaBlend, it wasn’t originally supposed to play out the way it does.

The Real Ending For Love Wedding Repeat Was Improv’d By Sam Claflin And Olivia Munn

CinemaBlend's own Sean O'Connell was lucky enough to interview some of Love Wedding Repeat’s leads before the new romantic comedy premiered on Netflix this weekend, and apparently that final payoff moment almost didn’t happen. According to Sam Claflin and his co-star Olivia Munn, the major kiss wasn’t originally in the script and was something that came up spur of the moment.

Jack spends the entire movie trying to have a moment with Dina, the woman he’s sure would be perfect for him, but previously their timing had always been off. Even in the last scene, he interrupts her during a phone call and originally it seems the movie wasn’t going to make it clear whether or not the happily-ever-after played out. According to both Claflin and Munn, the scene was one of the last things they shot and in a moment of inspiration it all came together.

To think, if the place settings had been just a wee bit different, who knows how Love Wedding Repeat would have played out?

It's always interesting to hear how movies came together, but ultimately the ending of this Netflix rom-com doesn't 100% hinge on the one improv'd moment. Still, I do think the happy ending is all the better thanks to that inspired acting moment. While superhero movies pop up every few months, there was a time when the genre was relatively new. Bryan Singer's 2000 blockbuster X-Men in many ways started the current trend of comic book flicks, proving they could be massively popular and profitable. The X-Men franchise is still going strong today, with both spinoffs and main installments hitting theaters.

Dark Phoenix will continue the primary narrative of the X-Men franchise, focusing on Sophie Turner's Jean Grey and the dark power that take hold of her. Most of the cast from Apocalypse are set to reprise their roles, but it looks like there's another face we won't be seeing: Olivia Munn's Psylocke. As The Newsroom alum recently revealed:

Womp womp. Despite making a badass first impression as one of Apocalypse's Four Horseman, we shouldn't expect Psylocke to pop up during the course of Dark Phoenix. But let's hope that doesn't mean the character is gone forever, since she's typically a fan favorite among comic enthusiasts.

Olivia Munn's comments to ET Canada are sure to be disappointing to X-Men fans who were hoping Psylocke would become a larger part of the greater universe. She only just debuted in Apocalypse, and was mostly a silent-but-deadly type. While she didn't have a ton of dialogue, the character was thrilling in the action sequences, and was fiercely loyal to Oscar Isaac's titular villain throughout the course of the somewhat disappointing blockbuster.

While Olivia Munn wasn't given much to say in Apocalypse, there was hope for the future. Psylocke managed to survive the final battle with Apocalypse without being apprehended by the X-Men or becoming a good guy like Alexandra Shipp's Storm. This surely left the door open for her to return, although it looks like her leading role in The Predator prevented her from returning to the mutant-centric property.

Still, it was thrilling to see Psylocke adapted into live-action, and her powers were thrilling to watch when she faced off against heroes like Beast and Nightcrawler. And since she made it out of Apocalypse unscathed, there's a chance we could see her in a future X-Men installment. Fingers crossed.

Of course, the possibility of Olivia Munn once again squeezing into her iconic X-Men costume has another potential roadblock: the merger between Disney and 20th Century Fox. While comic fans are eager to see the mutants finally incorporated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the studio's plans are unclear. And given the long tenure of the X-Men franchise, it may be easier to start all over and bring a new cast to the MCU.

It's more than a little shocking how well the Predator franchise has endured over the years, considering how even some of its most ardent supporters will admit that most of the sequels and spinoffs haven't been very good. Yet, here we are, giving another sequel a try, though this time we have Shane Black, who coincidentally co-starred in the original Predator, trying to add his unique style to the brand. The result, simply titled The Predator, still isn't able to recapture whatever magic the original film created, but it is able to make for an entertaining enough sequel, which is a first for the franchise.

Quinn McKenna (Boyd Holbrook) is a military sniper on an assignment in Mexico when his operation is thrown into disarray due to the unexpected arrival of an alien spacecraft crash-landing practically on top of him. His unit engages with the Predator and, as one might expect, does not fare well. Only McKenna survives, and he escapes with some of the alien's technology. He's able to ship the material home before being apprehended by Traeger (Sterling K. Brown) and the organization he runs which has been studying the alien threat. Traeger, in turn, brings in scientist Casey Bracket (Olivia Munn) to aid in the study of the Predator they captured, while dumping McKenna in with a group of military "Loonies" (Keegan-Michael Key, Thomas Jane, and more) so that nobody will believe anything he says about aliens. However, when McKenna's son (Jacob Tremblay) gets his hands on the alien tech mailed home by dad, well, bad stuff is going to happen.

If the original Predator successfully blended two genres together, that of action and horror, then The Predator takes it to the next level by adding a third: comedy. The film is surprisingly funny. Some of that comedy comes from Keegan-Michael Key's Coyle having a penchant for dirty jokes, and an uncomfortable amount of it comes from Thomas Jane's Baxley (he suffers from Tourette's Syndrome, so he randomly swears, which is funny, I guess). A lot of just comes from the sort of rapid-fire one-liners you would expect from a movie directed by Shane Black. While it's hard to say The Predator feels like a "Shane Black movie," it certainly feels like a "Predator movie," just one which happens to be written by Shane Black. The humor works, you'll find yourself laughing out loud at points, even just after watching a limb being torn from somebody's body.

Because make no mistake, The Predator is still an action-horror franchise. There are lots of guys with lots of big guns and no less than two alien hunters who are skilled at eviscerating whatever gets in their way. The Predator is as bloody a movie as the franchise has ever seen, jokes or no jokes. This movie earns its R-rating.

And it's where these two ideas come together that the movie starts to get lost. The "Loonies" are an interesting bunch of characters, far more so than Boyd Holbrook's "generic white male protagonist" to be sure. Whereas the military team from the first Predator was made up of slightly different variations of testosterone-fueled macho men, this time around our heroes are a group of guys who have been to war and come back broken. This subversion feels intentional, but the movie never stops long enough to deal with it in any meaningful way.

In fact, The Predator never stops for much of anything at all. It moves from one action scene to the next, one snappy quip to the next, without taking a break. It moves so fast that it's difficult to notice at first that there just isn't much story there. Characters seem to pick up information as well as equipment with no explanation where it came from, making it clear that pieces of this movie were left on the cutting room floor. Not too surprising, since we know that entire characters were cut from this film at some point, but the result is that what's left doesn't feel quite complete.

Still, in the end, while I can't say I loved The Predator, I also can't say that I didn't enjoy the hell out of The Predator. The action and the comedy combine well, and if you let the movie just take you for the ride, you'll probably enjoy the trip. I can't shake the feeling this movie wanted to be something more than it became, but I can't say I didn't have a good time with what it was.

Shane Black's The Predator bursts into theaters starting on Thursday night, and with it comes a fresh take on the Predator mythology, with not one but two different Predator creatures arriving on our planet with deadly missions. There are plenty of new characters ready to stand in the Predator's way, but one supporting cast member saw their scenes hit the cutting room floor before the final edit reached theaters. So, when we did interviews with The Predator cast in Toronto, we asked them who Edward James Olmos was supposed to play in the movie, and co-star Trevante Rhodes told us:

Short. Sweet. But it gives some deeper context into the role that Shane Black saw for Edward James Olmos. "Traeger" is the character played by Sterling K. Brown in the new movie. And yes, his introduction into the film is -- mysterious. He's certainly aware of the fact that the Predators have been visiting this planet since 1987. And Traeger recruits Olivia Munn's scientist character, Casey Bracket, into his quest to hunt down the Predator. But who he works for is... vague. And when he's at odds with Boyd Holbrook's hero, Quinn McKenna, we're not 100% sure why, when they both have a similar goal of stopping the ultimate killing machine, at whatever cost.

Perhaps there were scenes with Edward James Olmos that would have given more backstory into the purpose of Traeger's character. But for reasons only Shane Black knows, The Predator dropped all mention of Olmos, and the Mayans M.C. and Miami Vice star found himself out of the film.

And though we don't have Edward James Olmos bringing the intensity and heat to The Predator, the cast certainly isn't lacking for attitude and talent. Boyd Holbrook leads a band of crazies into battle against the Predator, including Thomas Jane, Keegan-Michael Key, Trevante Rhodes, Alfie Allen and Augusto Aguilera. Olivia Munn tags along, and they all fight to protect Jacob Tremblay, who might hold the key to stopping any future Predator attacks.

Shane Black's new movie will be in theaters on September 13.

The Predator franchise has been laying low since Nimrod Antal's Predators back in 2010, but the cinematic return of the legendary extraterrestrial killer is imminent. In the summer of 2014, 20th Century Fox announced that they were going to be bringing the series back, and now we find ourselves less than a year away from the finished product's release. But who is involved? What will it be about? Those are questions that we are here to directly address.

As we do here on CinemaBlend with all major upcoming films, we've constructed the guide below to provide you with all of the latest details and news about The Predator. We will regularly update this feature as more information comes in and we get closer to the release date, but for now, here's what we know so far:

What Have We Seen From The Predator?

Through early 2018, the answer to this question was: not much. But, on May 10, 2018 a teaser for the new film finally dropped, and it showed off some important aspects of what we can expect from The Predator, while subsequent trailers did an even better job of letting audiences know what's in store. Of upmost importance will be the fact that, while this creature will look much the same as the others we've seen on the big screen, apparently the race has begun co-opting bits of tech or biological factors that they find useful among the races they encounter on the planets they visit. Meaning, of course, that there will be some surprises afoot for audiences when our heroes begin to fight the alien this time around.

What Is The Predator Release Date?

Given that John McTiernan's original Predator was released in 1987, it would have been nice if the latest addition to the franchise was able to come out in 2017, celebrating the sci-fi/action classic's 30th anniversary. Sadly, this was a ball that was kind of dropped by 20th Century Fox, but the ultimate good news to take away is that fans will be seeing The Predator in theaters on September 14, 2018.

While September 2018 isn't a complete dead zone, the month isn't exactly packed with potential blockbusters, either, meaning that The Predator has a pretty good chance of finding and keeping an audience in that slot. The dark suspense film A Simple Favor, starring Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick, and directed by Paul Feig, debuts the same day. Meanwhile, The House with a Clock In Its Walls, with Jack Black, Cate Blanchett and Kyle MacLachlan, will open a week later. The last weekend of the month will see the animated Smallfoot, starring the voices of Channing Tatum, Gina Rodriguez and Zendaya, and the comedy Night School, with Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish, hit the big screen. Can any of these films take potential viewers away from The Predator? We'll have to wait and see.

What Is The Predator Rating?

When it comes to movies about the Predator, audiences have really only seen a slight fluctuation in the ratings department. With the exception of Alien vs. Predator, which was given a PG-13 pass by the MPAA, every other film in the continuity/series -- including Predator 2, Alien vs. Predator: Requiem, and Predators -- has been rated R. This is thankfully a tradition that will continue with The Predator as well.

While official decisions about ratings typically aren't made until a film has put together a theatrical edit to show the MPAA, we already know about The Predator's rating because the blockbuster's director has been very open about it. As production on the movie was starting up in February 2017, writer/director Shane Black took to his personal Twitter account and wrote, "And, just to be clear... PG-13 is for pussies. Spines bleed... a lot" (a reference to the fact that the titular alien species collects spinal columns as trophies). Basically, this is a feature that is not being made with young kids in mind as the target audience.

What Will The Predator Be About?

Writer/director Shane Black and screenwriter Fred Dekker haven't written a script together since 1987's The Monster Squad, but the duo is back in action writing the script for The Predator -- which most definitely fits within the continuity of Predator, Predator 2 and Predators and is absolutely not a reboot. The movie will be set in the present day -- which is to say the year 2018 -- and much like the original, it will primarily feature soldiers as its central protagonists.

Full details about The Predator plot haven't been revealed yet, but we do know that the story will center on Quinn McKenna (Boyd Holbrook), a former marine who discovers evidence that a Predator is on Earth. Unfortunately for him, nobody actually believes his claims, leading him to personally try and do something about it -- part of which is assembling a team that can help him out. And, from what actor Thomas Jane revealed about the plot a few months ago, it sounds like putting this team together won't be as cut and dry as it usually is in these types of films.

Actor Keegan-Michael Key also told us that reshoots on the film earlier this year actually rewrote about three-fourths of the final act, making it sound like something was amiss with the film's resolution. And, reports at the end of July indicated that even more reshoots were underway. While this doesn't sound good for a film that's due in theaters in just a few weeks, at least the team seems dedicated to getting it right. As you can see, though, the setup alone is pretty wild, which leads us to believe that The Predator will really be something special to behold.

Who Is The Predator Director?

Shane Black made a huge splash in Hollywood as the young hot shot writer of Lethal Weapon, and after spending years establishing himself with consistently great action/noir scripts (like The Long Kiss Goodnight, and The Last Boy Scout) the turn of the century saw him make the transition into the director's chair. He made his debut in 2005 with the cult hit Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, and has since followed it up with both Iron Man 3 and The Nice Guys -- and now he's making his return to the blockbuster world with The Predator.

While Shane Black's talent should be enough to get anyone excited for the sci-fi feature, it's also funny to note that the project is a homecoming of sorts for the director. Back in the late 1980s, 20th Century Fox tried to get Black to work on rewrites for the original Predator -- and this eventually led them to offer the young filmmaker the part of Hawkins -- one of Black's very few performances as an actor. Given that Hawkins wound up suffering a rather awful death in the movie, we probably shouldn't expect him to reprise the role in The Predator.

Boyd Holbrook

Boyd Holbrook's rise in the film industry has been slow, but certainly notable. He started by getting small roles in movies by talented directors, such as Gus Van Sant, Rob Reiner, Scott Frank and David Fincher, and then made a significant move in 2015 taking on a big role on the Netflix series Narcos. More recently, however, he's been starting to take on a bigger blockbuster presence, and after playing a critically-acclaimed villain in James Mangold's Logan, he will be playing hero Quinn McKenna in Shane Black's The Predator.

It's been widely reported that Boyd Holbrook was not the first choice for the lead role, as offers first went out to both James Franco and Benicio Del Toro -- but the young actor is certainly at a place in his career where it is time to test out his abilities as a leading man. Given what we've seen from him, we definitely have confidence in his skills, and it doesn't hurt that he's surrounded by a stellar supporting ensemble cast.

Trevante Rhodes

Buddy characters have been a staple of Shane Black movies from the very beginning. After all, he is the man who introduced Riggs and Murtaugh to the world, and since then basically all of his films have been built around the two hander approach. We can't say for certain yet if this will be the case with The Predator, but it certainly looks like the movie is being set up to have Boyd Holbrook's Quinn McKenna have Trevante Rhodes' Nebraska Williams as his sounding board.

Rhodes broke out in 2016 thanks to his brilliant performance in the Best Picture-winning Moonlight, and The Predator will be his first experience working on a blockbuster. When we spoke to him in early 2017, he described Nebraska Williams as a "Special Forces cat" who winds up becoming best friends with Quinn McKenna. Thanks to his military background, we can definitely expect that he knows what he is doing around a gun, which means that he should be a significant ally in the battle against the eponymous alien threat.

Jacob Tremblay

Jacob Tremblay may only be 10 years old, but he has already managed to capture the attention of cinefiles the world over. After taking on a few smaller roles, the young actor blew critics and audiences away starring in the dark drama Room opposite Brie Larson (who won an Oscar for her performance). Since then, Tremblay has become one of the most in-demand young actors in the industry, but easily one of his biggest upcoming projects is The Predator.

At this stage we don't really know how Jacob Tremblay will fit into the larger narrative of the blockbuster, but we do have a few character details. Specifically, we know that he will have a close relationship with Quinn McKenna, who is his father. Adding an extra twist to the part is that the young kid suffers from a form of autism -- an aspect of the role that we have full confidence in Tremblay to portray.

Olivia Munn

While small details have leaked out about a few of the main characters in The Predator, the role set to be played by Olivia Munn is being kept an interesting mystery. When the actress first signed on to the project, the only description of the part provided said that she is a scientist - though we have no idea what field she is working in. The good news is that there are many scientific areas of study that could be helpful in taking down a Predator.

Many will remember that Olivia Munn got her start as a host on the video game network G4, but she has spent the last few years building up her resume as an actor starring in movies like Magic Mike and Ride Along 2. In 2016 she landed her first superhero role playing Psylocke in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse, but we're definitely hoping that The Predator has more for her to do than that film.

Keegan-Michael Key

Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele have spent years tied at the hip in popular culture - starring in everything together from Key & Peele to Fargo to Keanu - but now their work is taking both of them in interesting separate directions. Peele recently made his incredibly successful directorial debut with the horror movie Get Out, and soon fans will be able to see Key on the big screen taking up arms against The Predator.

At this point, very little is actually know about the part that Keegan Michael-Key will be playing in Shane Black's upcoming blockbuster - but judging from the gun he's handling in the first look image, he is very likely another character with a military background ready to kick some serious ass. Given the tone of past Predator movies, the role could very well wind up being one of the most serious on the actor's filmography, but that doesn't mean we still don't expect him to crack one or two jokes within the movie's runtime.

Sterling K. Brown

When it comes to antagonists in The Predator, we fully expect that the titular creature will rank as the biggest threat in the movie - but that doesn't mean that the film is totally without humans trying to stand in the way of the heroes. Specifically, it's been reported that when Sterling K. Brown is first introduced in the movie, he won't be playing for the good guys, as he'll be a government agent who stands in Quinn McKenna's way. Fortunately, he winds up having a significant change of heart when he realizes the gravity of the situation the world finds itself in.

While Sterling K. Brown does have a fair share of movie roles on his resume, the actor has spent the bulk of his time on the small screen. Truth be told, the actor has actually gained a significant amount of popularity in recent years due to his work on television - namely on The People vs O.J. Simpson, and the on-going series This Is Us. That being said, Brown actually has two huge blockbusters in theaters in 2018, as he is not only a part of the Predator ensemble, but also the cast of the hugely successful Black Panther.

The Rest Of The Cast

So far in this guide we've introduced you to the main ensemble featured at the center of The Predator - but the movie's cast extends even beyond all of those awesome names. We don't really have much information about the individual parts that they will be playing within the film's narrative, but it has been reported that the rest of the cast will include Yvonne Strahovski (Chuck), Alfie Allen (Game of Thrones), Augusto Aguilera (Chasing Life), Edward James Olmos (Blade Runner 2049) and Jake Busey (Starship Troopers).

Will Arnold Schwarzenegger Be Back?

Arnold Schwarzenegger's Dutch was the first cinematic hero to go toe-to-toe with a Predator and survive, and yet we really have no idea what happened to the character after his adventure in the jungle. Because of this, there has been some question as to whether or not The Predator will offer up some answers. Sadly, it doesn't sound like that will be the case.

Boyd Holbrook has gone on the record about the possibility of Arnold Schwarzenegger showing up in The Predator, and he made it sound pretty clear that a cameo won't be happening. In explaining this choice, he noted that having a cameo from the original Predator protagonist would be a "gimmick" that might undermine the seriousness of the horror/sci-fi/western that is being constructed.

Of course, the biggest hint we have that Dutch showing up in the new film will be a no-go is confirmation from Schwarzenegger himself, who said:

So, unless something's changed in the months since Schwarzenegger revealed this info, it looks like The Predator will be an Ahnold-less affair.

While many people grow up wanting to be rich and famous, there are quite a few downsides to being a celebrity. Most notable is a complete lack of privacy, as A-listers are unable to do things like go to the grocery store without someone snapping a photo. Rumors began swirling in the past few days about Chris Pratt and Olivia Munn's alleged new relationship. The Daily Mail and other publications even go so far as to claim that Pratt's ex and co-parent Anna Faris wasn't too pleased about the new coupling. After all, she and her husband announced their separation in August, so it hasn't been a very long mourning period. And with fans still sore about their breakup, there will no doubt be many who take Anna Faris' side in this rumored love triangle.

Olivia Munn and Chris Pratt's rumored relationship is no doubt heightened by the chemistry the two actors seem to share. They appeared together on The Late Late Show with James Corden a year ago, and really seemed to get along well. Munn also appeared on Anna Faris' podcast Anna Faris is Unqualified, where the host told Munn she was her then-husband's dream girl because of their mutual affection for eagles. Faris said:

This seems like a moment of foreshadowing for the possible romance, although there hasn't been any confirmation of the new relationship from anyone at Olivia Munn or Chris Pratt's camps. So for now, everything is here say and rumors. Although will the Disney and Fox merger possibly bringing X-Men characters to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, perhaps they'll also be working together in the future.

Should that release date continue to hold (and there's no reason for it not to, considering that the film had finished principal photography and was officially in post-production by August of 2017), it will put the movie in direct competition with some other potential blockbusters that summer. June 15 will finally give audiences the long-awaited sequel The Incredibles 2, and June 22 will put Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom in theaters. Clearly, the studio is hoping that Ocean's 8 will fill a very specific live-action/comedy void that will be left by these big films.

What Is The Ocean's 8 Rating?

Movies don't receive official ratings from the MPAA until a final cut of the film is available to screen. This means that we probably have to wait until sometime in May 2018 to find out what Ocean's 8 will be rated and why the film gets that rating, but, based on the other films in the series, we can make an educated guess as to what the outcome will be. Each film in the Ocean's Trilogy netted itself a PG-13 rating for some combination of language, sexual situations and sensuality, and it's likely that Ocean's 8 will have a similar tone to those films and shoot for the same rating.

What Is The Ocean's 8 Story?

Unlike its predecessors, Ocean's 8 is not planning to focus on Las Vegas casino capers or a stylish European jaunt. This time around, the story will follow our new crew of thieving anti-heroes in New York City as they construct a (I'm sure elaborate) scheme to pull off a major heist during the famed annual event, the Met Gala. The event is a yearly fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute and marks the opening of each year's exhibit. Every year sees hundreds of celebrities and power players from several industries gather in their flashiest designer clothes and jewels to donate to the cause.

Until the trailer was released, we had no idea what the focus of the heist was going to be. Now, though, we know that Debbie Ocean and her crew will set their sights on the necklace that's going to be worn to the gala by Daphne Kluger (Anne Hathaway), which is worth $150 million. One of the big questions that's come up since the trailer came out is who, exactly, the eighth member of the crew will be. It was thought before that Hathaway's character was also a member, but since she's the one being robbed, Daphne will either be a very canny inside woman, or she's really just the mark and the final person on Debbie's team is being kept a big secret.

The Director

While the original Ocean's Trilogy films were all helmed by Steven Soderbergh, he won't be behind the camera this time. That job will instead go to writer/director/producer Gary Ross, who first came to prominence by writing and co-producing 1988's Big, and went on to direct big name films like Pleasantville, Seabiscuit and The Hunger Games, with his most recent directorial effort being Free State of Jones with Matthew McConaughey, which was released in 2016.

The Writers

Gary Ross also stepped up to the keyboard to help pen Ocean's 8, along with Olivia Milch, who wrote and directed the 2017 coming of age comedy Dude, starring Lucy Hale. Along with Big, Ross wrote Dave, The Tale of Despereaux, the 1994 Lassie remake and his films, The Hunger Games, Pleasantville, Free State of Jones and Seabiscuit.

Sandra Bullock

We might see a slightly harder edge from likable star Sandra Bullock than we're used to in Ocean's 8, as she'll be portraying Debbie Ocean, sister to George Clooney's Danny Ocean, and the heist-master who will decide to rob the Met Gala and assemble an all female crew to do it. Since we've never been introduced to any of these characters before, expect a large portion of the film to follow Bullock's character as she picks out her teammates and explains why she needs them, along with (possibly) letting us in on some Ocean family backstory.

When we're first introduced to Bullock's character, she's getting out on parole after spending about five years behind bars, though we don't know what got her locked up just yet. Additional information from the trailer tells us that Debbie plans this heist as a way to seek revenge on currently unknown parties. And, according to a brief scene in that same trailer, her estranged brother Danny has either died recently or is (more than likely) faking his own death.

Bullock's last big screen project was the 2015 flop Our Brand Is Crisis, so I'm sure she's hoping that a fun, star-powered ensemble like Ocean's 8 will be just the right thing to put her back on top at the box office.

Cate Blanchett

Two-time Oscar winner Cate Blanchett will be taking on the role of Lou in Ocean's 8, and, well, that's all we really know about her character at this point. It seems that Blanchett will fill the Brad Pitt role from the original Ocean's Trilogy of best friend and true partner-in-crime to Sandra Bullock's criminal mastermind Debbie, but there's no way to know for sure right now. And, seeing as how we don't even have a last name for Blanchett's character, it's possible that it might be some time until we find out what Lou's main part in the heist will ultimately be.

Blanchett has a number of films in the works right now, including voice parts in How to Train Your Dragon 3 and Jungle Book, as well as Where'd You Go, Bernadette and the fantasy The House with a Clock in its Walls. She was last seen as the villain Hela in Thor: Ragnarok, which hit theaters on November 3, 2017, and was hugely successful with critics and audiences alike.

Mindy Kaling

Actress and writer Mindy Kaling, who's best known for her work on The Office and The Mindy Project (which wrapped its six-season run in November 2017), is taking on the role of Amita in Ocean's 8. And, as it turns out, we've finally been given some insight into the special skill Amita possesses that leads Debbie to call on her. Apparently, Amita will be required to forge seven pieces of extravagant jewelry, something she says she can do in as little as five hours (providing the reward for this job will let her move out of her mom's place). Kaling will next be seen on the big screen in A Wrinkle in Time, which comes out March 9, 2018.

Anne Hathaway

Well, look at that. With Anne Hathaway's Ocean's 8 character we've finally hit on another one who actually has a full name, as she'll be playing Daphne Kluger in the film. Of course, being blessed with a surname doesn't really tell us anything about Daphne, and right now it looks like she'll simply be the woman with the super expensive necklace that Debbie wants to walk away with after hitting the Met Gala. It's possible that the revenge Debbie is looking for by pulling this job is because of something Daphne did to her, but that's just speculation.

Hathaway's last movie, the giant monster comedy Colossal was released early this year, and the actress has a full slate of projects coming up in the next couple of years. The Lifeboat, Serenity, O2, Nasty Women, Live Fast Die Hot and (possibly) the live action Barbie movie are all in various states of production with Hathaway attached to star in some capacity.

Sarah Paulson

Until the trailer was released, Sarah Paulson's Ocean's 8 character, Tammy, was basically a complete mystery with the exception of her name and the fact that she's a member of Debbie's gala thieving crew. Now we know that Tammy claims to have been out of the grifting game for a while when Debbie asks her to return for the Met job. This is contrary to the evidence found in her garage, though, which is packed with a suspicious number of (still boxed) household electronics. The actress has been racking up film credits since her 1994 appearance on Law & Order, but recently really made a name for herself via her work on several seasons of American Horror Story and her Emmy-winning role as Marcia Clark in 2016's American Crime Story.

Helena Bonham Carter

A film staple since the early '90s, actress Helena Bonham Carter will fill the role of Rose in the upcoming heist movie. It seems that Rose is a fledgling fashion designer, who, I'm guessing, will be needed to create gorgeous gowns for the women to wear during the gala. Bonham Carter has become known for some wild characters in recent years, with performances as Cinderella's Fairy Godmother and The Red Queen in Alice in Wonderland under her belt, so it's possible that she'll bring another crazy characterization to Ocean's 8. Bonham Carter has almost 100 credits to her name, including A Room with a View, Howards End, Fight Club, Big Fish, several Harry Potter films, The King's Speech (which saw her nominated for her second Oscar), Les Misérables and Burton and Taylor.

Rihanna

She may mainly be known as a singer, but Rihanna has been making strides in the past few years to become known as an actor as well, and I'm sure she's hoping her work as the tech-inclined Nine Ball in Ocean's 8 will help her continue to branch out. The eight-time Grammy winner has appeared in a handful of projects, including Battleship, This Is the End, the remake of Annie, Bates Motel and Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.

Awkwafina

If you're not familiar with the name Awkwafina, you're probably not alone. Born Nora Lum, she took on the stage name when she began rapping as a teenager and is now mostly known for her work in alternative hip hop and comedy, but she has been taking acting roles for a few years now. The Queens, NY native is playing pick-pocketing crew member Constance in Ocean's 8, adding that performance to her list of 10 credits, which include Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising and the upcoming film Crazy Rich Asians.

Returning Ocean's Trilogy Actors

Even though there are, obviously, many characters from the Ocean's Trilogy that could show up in the new film, we've only gotten confirmation that two recognizable faces from the franchise will show up in the next installment: Matt Damon and Carl Reiner. Matt Damon was the first returning actor to be announced, but right now we still don't know if he'll be reprising his role of expert pickpocket Linus Caldwell or playing someone else in the movie. Of course, since this is the same continuity of the previous films, it makes sense that Damon will, once again, bring Linus to life. This would seem to be even more likely, as Carl Reiner will, indeed, be reprising his role as old pro Saul Bloom in Ocean's 8. And, a recent interview given by Matt Damon seems to indicate that "a few" other members of the original Ocean's Trilogy will show up for the spinoff.

The Villain

Seeing as how most of Ocean's 8 is still a mystery, it should come as no surprise right now that we still don't know who the main antagonist will be when the film hits theaters. In December of 2016, it was reported that former Homeland and current Billions star Damian Lewis would be filling that role, as an ex-lover of Sandra Bullock's character. But, within a few months that report was refuted, and Lewis currently appears nowhere on the cast list. Someone who has popped up as a member of the cast, though, is Richard Armitage.

According to IMDB, Armitage is playing Claude Becker in the film, and while we don't know for sure that he will serve as an antagonist to Debbie Ocean's thieving crew, it does seem like a good bet. Armitage is known for playing a wide variety of tough guys in movies and on TV over the years, and his credits include MI-5, Captain America: The First Avenger, Strike Back, The Hobbit Trilogy, Hannibal, Alice Through the Looking Glass and Berlin Station. Whether Armitage is playing a bad guy in Ocean's 8 or not, he will certainly be fun to watch on screen.

The Other Characters

Seeing as how Ocean's 8 is a movie that will take place during a major, real-life event that is traditionally frequented by celebrities, there are a few who've signed on to the film and will either be playing themselves or characters created for the movie. The biggest news in this department is that, apparently, the entire Kardashian-Jenner clan will be showing up for cameos in the film. Along with that news comes the report that they will, somehow, be directly involved in the heist and that their appearances will hit pretty close to home, as jewel theft will be involved.

Other stars who've joined the project include late night talk show host James Corden, who will, reportedly, be playing a suspicious insurance investigator and have a pretty significant role. Dakota Fanning has been signed on to the movie for quite some time, but we have no idea who she's playing or how her character will fit into the plot. Katie Holmes filmed a cameo for Ocean's 8, but we, again, don't know if she's playing herself or not. Also, Olivia Munn recently spoke out about her cameo in the film, for which she got all dolled up for the movie's version of the Met Gala, only to be told that the money she spent on getting fancy wouldn't be reimbursed as she thought it would.

According to the cast list on IMDB, we can also expect appearances from model Adriana Lima, singer Zayn Malik, Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour and fashion designer Zac Posen.

Usually when an actor or actress pops up in a movie, he or she expects to be paid--even for a minor cameo. Sometimes this is a daily minimum and sometimes more, but Olivia Munn recently revealed she actually lost money on a cameo experience for Ocean's Eight, thanks to what the scene required. She said that when she signed on for a scene that required her to be dressed up for the Met Gala that she thought the production would cover. It didn't. According to what Munn said during a recent radio appearance,

While that whole experience sounds kind-of like a nightmare, Olivia Munn is mostly upbeat about her little cameo role, noting during the EW Radio program that she got to act around some amazing ladies, including Sarah Paulson, Cate Blanchett and more. Although, she's probably not the only one who got the raw deal. We've known for months that the Kardashians will also be in Ocean's 8 as part of the Met Gala sequence, and a jewelry heist will also be a part of that sequence, which recalls the drama Kim K. went through last year. Now, we're certainly wondering now if they also basically paid to doll themselves up for the cameo in the new movie.

Apparently, despite all of the work--and cash--she put into the faux Met Gala wardrobe, Olivia Munn won't actually be in the film all that much. She said of getting the role:

Still, there aren't a slew of ensemble female movies being made every year, and Ocean's 8 should be a doozy. So, even if the whole getting paid situation didn't work out for Olivia Munn, we're hoping the exposure was great for the actress, who has mostly been known for projects like HBO's The Newsroom and comedies like Office Christmas Party. The flick stars Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, and Nora Lum, which should be an interesting line-up. We'll have to wait a bit longer to see if the all-female Ocean's franchise entry is a box office winner, as the flick hits theaters on June 8, 2018. X-Men: Dark Phoenix, the second theatrical adaptation of The Dark Phoenix Saga, is bringing back a lot of familiar faces, from "First Class" era mainstays like Professor X and Mystique to younger mutant heroes like Cyclops and Storm. All of the established characters who have been announced so far for X-Men: Dark Phoenix were on relatively good terms with one another when X-Men: Apocalypse ended, but that streak may be over, as it looks like Olivia Munn could be reprising Psylocke for the seventh main X-Men installment.

Earlier today on Snapchat (via Omega Underground), Olivia Munn posted a photo of herself in Montreal, Canada, where X-Men: Dark Phoenix is currently shooting. While this didn't constitute official confirmation that she will appear in the X-Men movie, it certainly seems plausible if she's in the same areas where the cameras are rolling. With principal photography happening until October, we'll hopefully learn for sure whether or not Psylocke will be taking part in X-Men: Dark Phoenix in the coming weeks or months.

Olivia Munn's Psylocke was introduced in X-Men: Apocalypse as Caliban's bodyguard, but when Apocalypse came to her employer in search of mutants to join his cause, the ancient Egyptian mutant recruited Psylocke and turned her into one of his Four Horsemen. Psylocke later fought Beast during the movie's climactic battle, and after Apocalypse was destroyed through the combined efforts of Jean Grey, Cyclops and Magneto, she left the area without saying a word. If Psylocke does indeed appear in X-Men: Dark Phoenix, it will be interesting to see whether she remains an X-Men adversary or if she'll follow after her fellow Horseman Storm and decide to join the team. Approximately a decade will have passed in the events of X-Men: Apocalypse, so surely that would be enough time for her to have possibly walked away from her old life in favor of using her energy abilities for good.

Like 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand, X-Men: Dark Phoenix will see Jean Grey being consumed by the Phoenix Force. This time, however, it appears audiences will be treated to a more faithful adaptation of The Dark Phoenix Saga, what with the rumors about aliens appearing and Jessica Chastain being in talks to play Lilandra Neramani. So far the confirmed cast includes James McAvoy as Professor X, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler, Evan Peters as Quicksilver and The Next Step's Lamar Johnson in a yet-to-be-revealed role. Dazzler will also appear, although she has not been cast yet.

Director Shane Black (who appeared in the original Predator movie) went on Twitter early today to post the first official image from The Predator set to celebrate production kicking off. From left to right, we have This Is Us' Sterling K. Brown, Moonlight's Trevante Rhodes, Logan's Boyd Holbrook, X-Men: Apocalypse's Olivia Munn, Keanu's Keegan-Michael Key, and at the bottom, we have Shane Black kneeling next to Room's Jacob Tremblay. Oh don't underestimate that last actor, folks. I suspect Tremblay could unleash his inner fury towards the Predator if properly provoked. As Black noted, this is just some of the cast assembled, and we'll be seeing more actors announced/featured in the near future. For instance, it was reported last month that Thomas Jane will appear. Just don't expect Arnold Schwarzenegger to show up.

So who exactly is this group of individuals who will be fighting a new Predator for the franchise's fourth installment? (Sixth if you count those Alien crossovers.) Although last summer Shane Black said that the main hero, who is now being played by Boyd Holbrook, would be named Quinn Mackenna, none of the characters have been officially identified yet. Fortunately, we do some details about most of them. Holbrook is playing a Special Forces Commando, Olivia Munn is playing a scientist, Trevante Rhodes is playing an ex-Marine and best friend of Holbrook's character, Keegan-Michael Key is playing a man who will team up with Holbrook and Rhodes' characters, Sterling K. Brown is playing a government agent who imprisons the main protagonist before having to rely on him for help against the Predator, and Jacob Tremblay is playing the main protagonist's son, who is autistic and is the key to communicating with the Predator. Quite the lineup we have here.

It's also worth mentioning that a few days before posting the cast photo, Shane Black confirmed that The Predator will be rated R, listing the reason for this in the tweet below.

No specific plot information concerning The Predator has been revealed yet, although Shane Black debunked the report about the blockbuster taking place in a suburban setting. While 1987's Predator remains a classic in the realm of science fiction/horror, the following two movies centering on the eponymous monster (four if you count those battles with the Alien) haven't been as positively received. The last entry in the series was 2010's Predators, and next year, director Shane Black (who appeared in the first movie) is hoping to freshen up the series with The Predator. Now the project has accumulated enough notable actors, we've gathered them together in one spot so you can see what kind of talent The Predator will be showing off.

First up is Boyd Holbrook. After Benecio del Toro departed from The Predator due to scheduling issues, Holbrook was brought in to replace him as the main protagonist, who will be a Special Forces Commando. Holbrook is best known for Steve Murphy in Narcos, and has also appeared in Gone Girl, A Walk Among the Tombstones and Jane Got a Gun. He'll next be seen as Donald Pierce in Logan, the third Wolverine movie.

Next up is Olivia Munn, who will play a scientist. Known to many from TV for Attack of the Show and as Sloan Sabbith on The Newsroom, Munn's credits also include Magic Mike, X-Men: Apocalypse, Ride Along 2 and Office Christmas Party.

Third on the list is Trevante Rhodes, who has been cast as an ex-marine and best friend of Boyd Holbrook's character. Rhodes rose to prominence last year for his performance as the adult Chiron in Moonlight, and he also appeared in the Westworld pilot.

Finally, THR announced today that Keegan-Michael Key has boarded The Predator as a man who will team up with Holbrook and Rhodes' characters to fight the monster. Key is best known as his comedy work, which includes MADtv, Key & Peele and Keanu. So even though The Predator will be a full-blown action fest, surely Key will be able to use his comedic talents in some way.

Along with the above four actors and Shane Black as director, Larry Fong has been hired as The Predator's cinematographer. No plot details have been revealed yet, although Shane Black has confirmed that contrary to one report, the movie will not see the monster wreaking havoc in the suburbs. With The Predator's principal photography reportedly beginning next month, you can be sure more actors will be announced soon.

The Predator hits theaters on March 2, 2018.

In the three Predator movies that we've seen (discounting the Alien vs. Predator chapters), a new setting has been selected each time out. The first movie, of course, brought us to a South American jungle; Predator 2 was set in Los Angeles; and Predators took audiences to the titular creatures' homeworld. Shane Black's upcoming sequel The Predator will be continuing this tradition, but in a very unusual location: the suburbs.

This bit of information has been revealed by The Hollywood Reporter, though it seems that's the extent of the details that they have about the script that is being co-written by Shane Black and Fred Dekker. Beyond its suburban setting, the only other thing that we know about the story is that it will once again follow a group of characters, and that it will fit into the canon of the franchise and won't be a reboot.

Of course, we should also mention that the new trade report about The Predator comes packed with a new cast addition as well. Earlier this fall we learned that Boyd Holbrook would be replacing Benicio Del Toro as the central protagonist in the film, but now we have learned that Olivia Munn is also in talks to join the growing ensemble. While Holbrook will be playing Special Forces commando Quinn Mackenna, there are no details about Munn's role beyond the fact that she is a scientist (it's easy to roll your eyes at what looks like "sexy scientist" casting, but we can hope that a filmmaker as talented as Shane Black will make it work).

Things didn't work out with Benicio Del Toro as the lead of The Predator due to scheduling conflicts, which were largely caused by the fact that the new action movie is hurtling towards its start date and getting serious about putting all of its pieces in place. When I spoke with Shane Black late last month, he noted that we should be hearing a whole lot more casting announcements in the coming weeks. Hopefully those announcements will come paired with at least minor details about the plot.

Production on The Predator is gearing to start up in early 2017, with Twentieth Century Fox having announced that the film will be out in theaters on February 9, 2018 (a weekend they've grown to like thanks to Deadpool's success). We should be hearing a whole lot more about the coming blockbuster in the coming weeks and months, so be sure to stay tuned for all kinds of updates.

Over the last few years Olivia Munn has popped up and delighted in a number of films, from the likes of Iron Man 2 to Magic Mike, as well as Deliver Us From Evil and X-Men: Apocalypse. But while she's doing rather well at this acting malarkey, there is one aspect of the profession that she's now admitted she still rather despises. Because it turns out that Munn really struggles when it comes to faking movie romances. But Munn doesn't just blame herself for these troubles, insisting that it's as much to do with the clichéd writing of female characters.

Olivia Munn made this revelation while talking to Entertainment Weekly, admitting that she originally had some reservations about a romantic scene in her upcoming film Office Christmas Party because of her past issues with similar scenes. Munn explained:

Fortunately for Olivia Munn, she was able to overcome these concerns with Office Christmas Party, as she sat down to talk about the scene and how to make it feel real with its directors Josh Gordon and Will Speck. Munn added that together they made the scene feel "more organic" and "much more real" than her previous romantic scenes. While the story has an even happier ending, because she admitted that it actually ended up becoming one of her favorite scenes in the entire movie.

In Office Christmas Party, Olivia Munn's Tracey find herself becoming romantically linked with her co-worker, played by Jason Bateman. But that's very much second fiddle to the raucous and chaotic office Christmas party that's organized by T.J. Miller and Kate McKinnon, which soon goes completely out of control. There's high hopes for Office Christmas Party, too, because it has assembled a pretty stellar cast, which as well as Bateman, Munn, Miller and McKinnon includes Jennifer Aniston, Jillian Bell, Vanessa Bayer, Courtney B. Vance, Rob Corddry, Sam Richardson, and Randall Park, while it has been directed by Josh Gordon and Will Speck, who previously oversaw Blade Of Glory and The Switch. We'll get to see if it can live up to this promise when Office Christmas Party is released on December 9.

In the post-credits sequence for X-Men: Apocalypse, fans are teased about the exciting arrival of Mister Sinister to the X-Men movie franchise... but what you probably don't know is that we almost got something completely different instead. Not only does it turn that there were early ideas to make the tag a tease for Deadpool 2, but they actually shot a sequence featuring a new character for the sequel in a special costume.

This fascinating bit of trivia has been revealed by director Bryan Singer and producer/writer Simon Kinberg on the audio commentary for X-Men: Apocalypse, which was just given its digital release this past Friday. As the Mister Sinister-themed clip begins to play at the very, very end of the film's runtime, Singer and Kinberg begin to talk about what could have been, and it's then that the director drops the bombshell:

Given that this unused tag scene isn't available with all of the other deleted scenes now available with X-Men: Apocalypse's digital release, it doesn't look like Bryan Singer did "stick [it] on the DVD," as he put it -- which is definitely sad given that we are now ridiculously curious about the character who is being referred to by the director (not to mention questions like "who played the character?" and "what did the costume actually look like?"). Let's consider some possibilities, shall we?

Cable is our number one guess for whom Bryan Singer is referring to here -- mostly because he is thus far the only new character who has been confirmed to be appearing in the untitled Deadpool 2 so far (information revealed in the post-credits scene of director Tim Miller's movie earlier this year). That being said, the fact that Singer doesn't want to give the identity of the hero or villain away could suggest that it wasn't going to be at the very least the first hint at the one-eyed, bionic-armed, big gun-loving time-traveling mutant from the future -- given that Cable isn't a name he would really have to protect at this stage in the game.

The second big possibility is that the final scene of X-Men: Apocalypse was going to introduce the fan-favorite lucky mutant known as Domino. A rumor popped up this summer saying that the character would have a significant role in Deadpool 2, with actress Mackenzie Davis eyed for the part, and it's possible that Bryan Singer wanted to give us a look at her before her expanded role on the big screen. What's holding this theory back is that Domino isn't even confirmed for Deadpool 2 yet, so it's possible that this guess is a complete miss.

Our final guess is a character that X-Men: Apocalypse itself introduced: Olivia Munn's Psylocke. Not only does the purple-loving telekinetic telepath have a history in the comics with Deadpool (fighting together as members of X-Force), but Cable's aforementioned time-travel habits make it very easy to explain how the character from 1983 could co-exist in the Merc With The Mouth's modern world (minus 30-plus years' worth of makeup, that is) and be in Deadpool 2. As far as I see it, the only thing working against this idea is the comment about the costume -- as any director would be a fool to think about altering Munn's completely comic book accurate outfit from Apocalypse.

All female reboots are all the rage now, so it's only fitting that every all male ensemble make way for an all-female replacement. Apparently, Magic Mike is no exception. Ellen Degeneres has put together her own band of exotic dancers for a parody of a female reboot to Channing Tatum's male stripper movie. Say hello to Magic Michelle.

As Ellen says in her intro, we've had a female Ghostbusters movie, and we're about to get an all-women Ocean's 11. Knowing that, we can expect to see more reboots in a similar fashion. Of course, Magic Mike is the perfect fodder for parody because Magic Mike itself is essentially the "all-male reboot" of every movie about strippers that's ever been made.

The best part about the parody is that most of the actresses used would likely be considered on the short list for any actual movie like this if it were being made, yet they all do a stellar job of looking completely out of place. Olivia Munn's Honeydew, and her obvious, um, enhancement, is played for perfect comic effect. Chrissy Teigen is a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model, but you wouldn't know it the way she's done up here. Also, adding Jenna Dewan-Tatum to the mix is a masterstroke. Including her gives the whole thing a sort of seal of approval. Also, since we know she can dance, she'd be perfect for the movie anyway.

Of course, the real purpose of the bit is to spotlight Ellen Degeneres being awkward as a stripper. At the same time, it's well done. With her "sexy repairwoman" outfit, she's the one who really takes the male stripper parody seriously. The rest of the women aren't doing a spoof of male strippers, they're just poking fun at female stripper stereotypes.

What puts this entire video over the top, however, is the random Oprah appearance. Not exactly the first name you'd think of, but at the same time, that's what makes it work.

As a straight comedy, this wouldn't actually be the worst idea ever. They have already done the female stripper comedy, it was called Striptease and it starred Demi Moore. Of course, that film is fairly old, and one thing Hollywood likes even more than gender swaps, is remakes. Maybe there's an opportunity for Magic Michelle after all.

Like the X-Men movies that came before it, X-Men: Apocalypse is another massive ensemble blockbuster that takes a mix of familiar and new characters and navigates them along different arcs that take them to different places by the time the story ends. Taking place 10 years after the events of X-Men: Days of Future Past, the new movie has the responsibility of continuing the brand new continuity, and establishes heroes who will be absolutely key to the series’ future. But where does the film leave them all individually when the credits roll? That’s what we’re here to break down.

Across the next few pages, we’ve singled out the various heroes of X-Men: Apocalypse, established where they are at the end of the fight with the titular villain, and speculate where we might see them all go in the next few years of the X-Men franchise. Read on, and hit the comments section on each page to tell us where you want to see all of the characters go in the future!

Professor X

James McAvoy’s Professor Charles Xavier sported a beautiful quaff of brown locks through most of his screen time in X-Men: First Class, X-Men: Days of Future Past, and X-Men: Apocalypse, but those times are over. Thanks to the kidnapping plot orchestrated by the titular villain in the most recent film, and his attempts to transfer his consciousness into Xavier’s body, the professor is now just as hairless as both his comic book counterpart and Patrick Stewart’s iteration of the character

Professor X went through a hell of a lot through the events of X-Men: Apocalypse, but being one of the most resilient people on the planet, he will stop at nothing to help and protect mutants and teach them to live in peace with the rest of humanity. With key individuals (who we will discuss soon) now under his tutelage and the Xavier School For Gifted Youngsters rebuilt, he’s ready to ascend to his most iconic role as the leader and mentor of the X-Men – cue-ball head and all.

Mystique

We’ve seen the post-Days of Future Past timeline affect the trajectory of numerous heroes and villains, but none have been more changed than Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique. While she served as a mostly-mute villainous agent for Magneto in the original X-Men trilogy, the more recent three movies have seen her actually become a key and founding member of Professor X’s team. From what we see at the end of X-Men: Apocalypse, it doesn’t seem like her run as a hero is ending any time soon.

Mystique’s involvement in the events of X-Men: Days of Future Past have made her an icon for mutants around the world (including the young Storm), and after X-Men: Apocalypse it seems like she is finally ready to fully embrace that role. While Professor X is certainly still the leader of the X-Men, Mystique is the one positioned as the one giving shots on the ground during battle. Whether she’ll still be in this same station in the next X-Men movie – set approximately 10 years later – is unclear, as she may find herself handing the reins off to one of the younger members of the squad.

Magneto

Life has never been too kind to Erik Lehnsherr a.k.a. Magneto (Michael Fassbender), from his childhood in Auschwitz, to witnessing the death of his wife and daughter because of an errant arrow. As a result, it’s not a stretch to understand why he wound up teaming with Apocalypse and just trying to end Planet Earth. By the end of X-Men: Apocalypse, however, he does understand that there are reasons to live on in this world, and winds up assisting Professor X’s team in the destruction of En Sabah Nur.

In the final scene of the film, Magneto continues to help the X-Men, working alongside Jean Grey to rebuild Xavier’s School For Gifted Youngsters, but part of the work doesn’t involve building a room for himself. Instead, he turns down Xavier’s offer to stay on as a teacher, once again venturing out in the world to start a new life for himself. Understanding how this franchise operates, we can probably expect him to pop his head out sometime in the early ‘90s, just as the events of the next X-Men adventure begins to unfold.

Beast

In the X-Men movie franchise, you won’t find a character more loyal than Nicholas Hoult’s Hank McCoy a.k.a. Beast. After meeting Charles Xavier in the early 1960s, McCoy understood that the would-be professor was a man that he would follow to the gates of hell – and he has. Not only does he find himself regularly fighting by his friend’s side on the battlefield, but he also entirely believes in the mission of Xavier’s School For Gifted Youngers, and has spent years helping mutants (like the young Cyclops) hone and understand their abilities.

In the wake of what happened in X-Men: Apocalypse that won’t change. Not only will Beast continue to serve as a teacher in Professor X’s school, but he will also fight alongside Mystique and the other young X-Men who are now assembled into a squad learning to work as a team – occasionally providing the group with the technology, weaponry and transportation needed to accomplish the various missions that lie ahead.

Cyclops

Thanks to Wolverine’s emphasized presence in the original X-Men trilogy, we never really got to see Cyclops’ full potential on the big screen – but that could change very soon. With actor Tye Sheridan taking over the role from James Marsden in X-Men: Apocalypse, and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine exiting stage left after Wolverine 3, we expect the future to be filled with Cyclops-heavy stories that paint him as more than an annoying jerk who gets in the way of the romance between Logan and Jean Grey.

Remember what I was saying earlier about Mystique eventually passing the torch and eventually choosing a new leader for the X-Men? Well, that choice should be Cyclops – though he’s not quite there at the end of X-Men: Apocalypse. While he does get the more comic book-inspired duds that you see above, he is still a nascent in the world of fighting for peace and mutant equality, and has quite a bit to learn from Professor X, Mystique and Beast. That being said, by the time we catch up with him in the 1990s, we expect him to become much more of a leader.

Jean Grey

In the end battle between the X-Men and Apocalypse, Sophie Turner’s Jean Grey unleashes a taste of her power’s full potential – giving us all a quick preview of her connection to the Phoenix Force – but the truth is that she has a long way to go. It’s true that she has been a student of Xavier’s longer than most of her teammates, but her mutation is still far from stable, as evidenced by the fact that she still tends to shake the mansion when she dreams.

On beyond her Phoenix-related future, X-Men: Apocalypse seeds a lot of interesting things for Jean Grey, from her tight bond with Professor X, to her romantic entanglements with Cyclops. These relationships will surely all progress greatly in the timeline gap between the new film and the next sequel, and eventually we do expect them to try and take another crack at the Dark Phoenix Saga.

Storm

Comic book fans know Storm as one of the most important and heroic members of the X-Men, but X-Men: Apocalypse establishes her as having a bit of a villain streak in her origin story. Played by Alexandra Shipp, her first real interaction with the members of Xavier’s school is facing off against them on the battlefield, having been manipulated by Apocalypse to become one of his Four Horsemen. By the end of the movie, however, the presence of her idol, Mystique, helps her recognize the error of her ways, and she becomes a powerful warrior for the side of good.

Professor Xavier was obviously willing to accept Storm into his school with open arms, and presumably the other members of the X-Men are going to be able to get over the fact that she once tried to kill them. It’s true that fact may cause a bit of tension in the early days, but we expect that by the time we catch up with the characters in the 1990s all will be forgiven and they will be functioning as a group like a well-oiled machine.

Nightcrawler

Movie fans fell in love with Nightcrawler thanks to Alan Cumming’s performance in X2: X-Men United, but sadly the character completely disappeared from the franchise after that point. Thankfully, Kodi Smit-McPhee has brought the blue teleporting mutant back into the fold in X-Men: Apocalypse, and based on what we saw at the end of the film, it seems that he will be a character who is around for a long time.

Unlike the original franchise timeline, Nightcrawler will now go down in history as part of the classic X-Men team that also united legendary heroes like Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Storm. Being a part of the group will certainly improve the status of his life, as he goes from being locked in boxes and thrown in cage matches to being a student in Upstate New York who lives in a mansion. Due to the opening scene of X-Men: Apocalypse, we are wondering if the future may reveal a deeper connection between the young Kurt Wagner and Mystique, as she is actually his mother in the comics, but that may be a detail the movie franchise just skips over (again).

Quicksilver

Evan Peters’ Quicksilver became a fan favorite character after his fun performance in X-Men: Days of Future Past, but his part was also a bit controversial given that he was kept out of the action at the end of the film when he would have been quite useful. Fortunately, Bryan Singer and Simon Kinberg learned from his mistake, and it seems that after X-Men: Apocalypse, he isn’t going anywhere.

Quicksilver has an exciting future ahead of him, not only being one of the core members of the X-Men, but also because of the identity of his father. While X-Men: Apocalypse does confirm that Magneto is his dad, the speedy mutant fails to actually share this information – even when it meant potentially giving the master of magnetism something to live for and a change of heart. Presumably it will take another 10 years in the timeline for Quicksilver and Magneto to talk about their connection, but we look forward to seeing how that interaction goes down.

Psylocke

It’s true that Olivia Munn’s Psylocke doesn’t exactly become a "hero" by the end of X-Men: Apocalypse, but given the character’s anti-hero history in the comics, we figured we’d include her on this list. By the end of the movie, she certainly finds herself escaping Apocalypse’s sway, escaping while the First Mutant is being destroyed, but she also doesn’t exactly seem to be a big fan of the X-Men either.

Psylocke is definitely one of the more under-developed characters in X-Men: Apocalypse - having only been written into the script shortly before production started – and there’s definitely plenty of potential avenues to take her in for the future. For example, she was notably a member of the Uncanny X-Force alongside Deadpool, so with some time travel action we could possibly see that adapted for the big screen. Of course, she’s been a member of the X-Men as well, and it’s entirely possible that she could find herself aligning with the team when a new threat rises in the ‘90s.

In X-Men: Apocalypse it doesn’t take much for the titular villain to sway Psylocke and convince her to join his team. He appears at the establishment of Caliban, and within a few moments she goes from threatening the god-like mutant as a bodyguard for the black market operator to becoming one of En Sabah Nur’s Four Horsemen. Why is this? Well, according to a conversation I recently had with Olivia Munn, it all ties to the character’s need to find some kind of direction and family after losing her own when she was young.

Olivia Munn was grouped with Sophie Turner and Evan Peters at the X-Men: Apocalypse press day in London, and turning my attention towards the actress I asked about her character’s motivation and why she was so drawn to Apocalypse’s side. She complimented the question, and in acknowledging that the exposition really isn’t in the film, she explained her own reasoning for how things played out. Said Munn,

In X-Men: Apocalypse, she finds this small family in the group consisting of Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac), Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Storm (Alexandra Shipp) and Angel (Ben Hardy). Interestingly, though, Olivia Munn sees Psylocke’s spiritual sibling in another one of her co-stars: Wolverine – specifically the Wolverine from the comics. She explained,

As fans have seen multiple times in comic book history, a big part of Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse has the titular villain recruiting his Four Horsemen: a group of extremely powerful mutants whom Apocalypse is able to convince to do his bidding and serve as his personal bodyguards. In the film, this group consists of Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Angel (Ben Hardy) and Psylocke (Olivia Munn), but that wasn’t always the case. In fact, most early drafts actually only included three of those Horsemen, with Psylocke only entering the fray late in the screenwriting process.

Earlier this week, I had the pleasure of sitting down for an interview with X-Men: Apocalypse writer/producer Simon Kinberg, and knowing how big comic book blockbusters tend to change through development, the first question I posed was in regard to other characters who were considered to be a part of the Four Horsemen team. As it turns out, original drafts of the script really only featured three primary Horsemen, with Apocalypse kidnapping James McAvoy’s Professor Charles Xavier with the hope of getting him to switch teams. Kinberg explained,

Also taking into consideration the shape of a pyramid (which Apocalypse erects as a home base), and the fact that it has four different sides, it was decided that another mutant should be brought in to provide the villain with protection on all fronts. In order to decide who the final member of the team would be, Simon Kinberg and Bryan Singer consulted a list of all of the Horsemen used in comic book history, and found Psylocke to be an interesting choice. Not only that, Kinberg also realized that he had just met with a great potential actress for the part just a couple weeks prior. Said the filmmaker,

Olivia Munn officially signed on to X-Men: Apocalypse in mid-April 2015 - rounding out the Four Horseman team just a couple weeks before production later that same month. Given how key Magneto, Storm, Angel and Psylocke have been for the marketing for the film leading up to its release, it’s interesting to think about how things could have been completely different.

This summer marks Olivia Munn's debut in the X-Men cinematic universe, as Psylocke – one of Apocalypse's four horsemen of the apocalypse. However, this is far from the first offer she's gotten on behalf of 20th Century Fox and their corner of the Marvel Comics spectrum. As it turns out, Munn was previously offered a role in Tim Miller's wildly successful Deadpool, more specifically she was offered the role of Vanessa – a role that she would turn down for a very specific reason.

As it turns out, a recent piece in American Way uncovered the story of how Olivia Munn was approached during the well publicized hunt to play Vanessa Carlysle. However, upon receiving the offer, Munn rejected the role of Wade Wilson's girlfriend because it was, in fact, another stereotypical "girlfriend" part. In fact, the decision to even play Psylocke came after she had vetted the character's presence in X-Men: Apocalypse. Part of the discussions that Munn engaged in with the team behind one of this summer's hotly awaited blockbusters can be summed up in the quote from Olivia herself below:

While the role of Vanessa, which eventually saw Morena Baccarin fill the vacancy, is not an action-packed presence in Deadpool, she's certainly not a character to be taken lightly. Throughout pieces of said film, we saw her hold her own with Wade Wilson, in a healthy relationship that didn't rely too heavily on her being merely a helpless damsel. That said, the role was turned down a couple notches, particularly with the absence of any mutant powers that Ms. Carlysle had in the comics, and her ass-kicking skills weren't really used to their full potential. Still, should Olivia Munn had reconsidered the role, it would have been a far cry from any other girlfriend role she's played, such as her small but pivotal role in Magic Mike. 

Regardless of past choices, the opportunity to play an empowered, take charge mutant in X-Men: Apocalypse eventually darkened her door, marking a new chapter in Olivia Munn's career. The opportunity to play Psylocke represents the hard work, and shrewd decision making that's been seen throughout Munn's years of operation, and if anything, we're excited to see how much havoc she can bring to the table in what could be one of this year's highest grossing films.

X-Men: Apocalypse heralds the end of days on May 27th.  

There are certain questions that are as old as time itself. Where did we come from? Why are we here? These are questions that are asked, and yet, they really have no answers. The point of the question is not to answer it, but to understand how you come up with your own answer. However, there is one question that is even older than these. A question that echoes throughout the history of time itself. Who would win in a fight between…?

It’s the ultimate geek question. Anybody can play. Take any two characters from your favorite fiction and put them in a theoretical battle. Generally, this hypothetical situation is set up between characters who would never actually cross paths. However, a fan recently asked Olivia Munn who she thought would win in a fight between her X-Men character of Psylocke, Deadpool, and Wolverine. This is a battle which could theoretically still happen on screen. Munn, of course, had a great answer. 

Olivia Munn’s answer should not be too surprising. Of course, she’s going to argue that Psylocke would win in a fight. You’d never expect that she would sell her own character short. She has to believe Psylocke would win. Still, we’re not sure we can support this supposition. While it’s true that Psylocke has amazing mental powers that would likely make her a formidable opponent for either Deadpool or Wolverine, at the end of the day, her two adversaries are essentially invincible. You might be able to create nearly any weapon out of pure mental energy, but those weapons would still have to overcome the healing factors of the two Weapon X experiments. And in this theoretical fight the three mutants are fighting each other all at once, so Psylocke would have to defeat Deadpool and Wolverine at the same time. We’re not sure we buy it.

Although, to be honest, we’re not even sure Olivia Munn buys her own argument. If you watch her answer the question she looks like she’s trying to convince herself that she’s right.

It’s shaping up to be a big year for Olivia Munn. She’s already shown up in Zoolander 2 and Ride Along 2, and earlier today we got our best look yet at the actress kicking ass in the latest trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse. That’s easily her highest profile part and film to date, but she just added another potentially awesome role in the upcoming comedy Christmas Office Party, where she joins what was already a fantastic, not to mention big name, cast.

Scheduled to shoot this spring, with a release scheduled, you guessed it, smack in the middle of the holiday season, Christmas Office Party is in the process of getting all their ducks in a row. According to Variety, one of those ducks is now Olivia Munn. The former Attack of the Show star has been steadily increasing her star power over the last couple of years, and she is reportedly now in talks to team up with what has already become a stacked list of top-tire talent. In addition to Munn, the film stars Jason Bateman, Jennifer Aniston, Deadpool sidekick T.J. Miller, new Ghostbuster Kate McKinnon, and Fresh Off the Boat star Randall Park.

Surprising as it may sound, the plot of Office Christmas Party revolves around an actual Christmas party in an office. From what little we know about the plot, the members of the ensemble cast find themselves in the midst of a holiday gathering at work that takes a turn for the worst and starts to devolve. While that’s not particularly informative or specific, it’s a strong enough premise, especially with this cast, to make for some ridiculously entertaining, and probably crass, holiday fun. Maybe it will be this year’s version of The Night Before, a crude new holiday season classic.

Office Christmas Party will be helmed by Will Speck and Josh Gordon, the directing duo behind the Will Ferrell and John Heder ice skating comedy Blades of Glory, which might clue you into the tone and style we can expect. This is also their second endeavor fronted by Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman, as that pair also starred in 2010’s romantic comedy-drama The Switch for Speck and Gordon.

Following runs on The Newsroom, her new role as the mutant Psylocke in Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse, and numerous other projects, Office Christmas Party is another nice addition to Olivia Munn’s ever expanding resume. She also has the crime drama Three Seconds with Josh Brolin and Luke Evans in the works. Which has quite a bit of promise.

With production slated to begin later this year in Atlanta, Georgia, Office Christmas Party is already set to spread holiday cheer on December 9 of this year.

Apocalypse is coming, and his arrival should prove deadly. X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters this May and seems poised to become the biggest, deadliest X-Men adventure yet. As a result of this, the film will likely see some of the most lethal on-screen mutants the franchise has used to date. One such character is Olivia Munn’s Psylocke, and according to the actress, she won’t mess around when it comes to killing people in droves.

Speaking with CNET, Olivia Munn opened up about her role as the mutant Psylocke, as well as the character’s willingness to go to extremes in a fight. She said:

Like Olivia Munn says, Psylocke is a telekinetic telepath. She can manifest just about any object or weapon she could possibly need, and often chooses swords in order to get intimate with her killing. Psylocke seems to stand out as a modern cinematic comic book character that has absolutely no problem taking a life in order to win a fight. As one of the title character's Four Horsemen in X-Men: Apocalypse, Psylocke’s status in the movie will be that of a villain, but her comic book counterpart also has associations with the heroic X-Men. Even if she switches sides at any point during the film, something tells us she still won’t give up her penchant for murder.

Killing is one of those concepts that no superhero universe can totally agree on. On one hand, the DCEU has made killing a fairly morally reprehensible action, and all evidence points to characters like Batman and Superman trying their hardest not to kill in their upcoming movies. However, the Fox X-Men universe – which Olivia Munn’s Psylocke calls home – relies on characters like Wolverine and Deadpool, who have absolutely no qualms with killing in order to win. In the middle lies the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which seems to have struck a balance between those two ideologies. Captain America and Iron Man have definitely killed in their films, but characters like Daredevil maintain a steadfast refusal to take a life.

We’re beyond excited to see where Olivia Munn takes the character of Psylocke. She’s a badass woman who exhibits some of the coolest mutant traits we’ve seen to date. We'll just have to wait and see the kind of carnage she brings to the table when X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters on May 27.

Although a version of her character appeared in 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand, Psylocke is making her official cinematic debut in X-Men: Apocalypse, played by Olivia Munn. As one of the more athletic characters in the X-Men universe, moviegoers are going to see Psylocke fighting and jumping around, so you’d think the mutant’s more intense action scenes will be performed by a stunt double. However, in this case, Munn decided to handle the stunts herself.

In an interview with ET Online, Munn revealed that she performed all of Psylocke’s action scenes in X-Men: Apocalypse, from "beginning to end," without a stunt double to give those scenes more authenticity. The actress trained heavily during X-Men: Apocalypse’s production with Tae Kwan Do and wirework. We even saw a few behind-the-scenes videos she posted of her practicing swordplay. All these exercises were to do justice to how strong the character is in the comics, according to Munn. As she put it:

After showing up to set, Olivia Munn tells ET that she stated that she could easily handle being swung around on the wire with a sword in her hand. One moment that was specifically noted in the interview was from the recent Super Bowl TV spot, where Psylocke is flipping through the air and slicing an incoming car in half. While there isn’t any context yet for why Psylocke is jumping in that scene, but it does look like it’s happening towards X-Men: Apocalypse’s climax, i.e. the battle between the X-Men and Apocalypse and his Four Horsemen.

When we meet Psylocke in X-Men: Apocalypse, she’ll be an assassin taking out her targets using her telekinetic and telepathic abilities, specifically by conjuring energy blades with her mind. Like Magneto, Storm and Angel, Psylocke will be approached by Apocalypse to become one of his Four Horsemen and help him rebuild the world in his image. Their goals will face resistance when Charles Xavier and his X-Men try to defeat them. Since Psylocke becomes a hero in the comics, it remains to be seen if Munn’s Psylocke will follow suit, or if she’ll stay a bad guy for the entirety of the movie.

We’ll see Psylocke in action when X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters on May 27.

This is a big year in theaters for Fox’s X-Men universe, with both Deadpool and X-Men: Apocalypse set for release. Both films feature mutants who are particularly skilled with swords. But which one is the better swordmaster? We won’t need to wait for the eventual movie crossover to answer that question. The challenge has already been issued. Check out who won in the video below.

We’ve seen over the last several months the amount of physical training that Olivia Munn has put herself through in order to get ready for her role as Psylocke in X-Men: Apocalypse. This Instagram video shows that she has really learned how to handle that sword remarkably well. Ryan Reynolds? Not so much. We can't say we've heard a great deal about his extensive training. Apparently this is what happens when you phone in the sword practice. Although, to be fair, we expected little else from the actor who has been bringing the funny repeatedly as we get closer and closer to Deadpool’s release. It’s the lunge that makes it art. He wants to hit her with his balloon sword, but he’s too afraid to get any closer to her than he already is. And actually, if we were scoring this based on fencing rules, Reynolds did get a touch in, which is actually more than we can say for Olivia Munn.

While Deadpool will be setting itself apart from pretty much every superhero movie ever made when it comes out on Friday, it’s important to remember that Deadpool is taking place within the X-Men universe. He will exist in the same world that we see when the X-Men return to the screen later this year. Psylocke and Deadpool may know each other, although they’re very likely not friends, at least not yet. They have been colleagues in the X-Force comics before. Is this a signal of things to come? There have been talks about following up Deadpool with an X-Force movie, so maybe we’ll see these two on screen together before too long. The more successful both films are, the more likely something like that becomes.

In the end, this video gives us the perfect microcosm of everything we want to see in these two films. We want to see mutants kicking ass in X-Men: Apocalypse, and we want to see Ryan Reynolds make us laugh in Deadpool. They certainly have the requisite skills. X-Men: Apocalypse will be out in May. Deadpool arrives this Friday.

X-Men: Apocalypse is one of the most highly anticipated movies of the new year. The Bryan Singer directed superhero romp promises a ton of action, and a world that features actors both new and old. Some of the new players that will be flying into theaters are Apocalypse and his Horsemen. The villainous gaggle is sure to have some insane action sequences, but there is one character has been decidedly absent in all of the trailers thus far: Psylocke. Well, actress Olivia Munn, who will play Psylocke in Apocalypse, apparently heard our dismay and took to twitter to share this new epic image of her character in the film:

This image is awesome. Rather than a boring still or promo shot, this looks like an image taken straight from an epic fight sequence. While this shot may look seemingly uncomplicated, it actually provides us with a bunch of clues as to what we’ll be seeing when Apocalypse is released. 

First off, one can see the pink energy emanating from Psylocke’s left hand. This, along with Oliva Munn’s tweet, confirm that Psylocke will be using her psionic blades in X-Men: Apocalypse. These constructs are one of the most iconic aspects of Psylocke’s powers in the comics. Through her telekinesis, she is able to form telekinetic blades and katanas which she uses to battle her enemies. These pink weapons are one of the trademarks of the mutant, especially when she becomes angry and aggressive in her fights. 

The revelation that Psylocke will be using her psionic blades is an exciting new bit of information. In the comics, the mutant has both telekinetic and telepathic abilities, but it has already become clear that she won’t be using her telepathy in X-Men: Apocalypse. After this became public, diehard X-Men fans become worried that Psylocke would be represented properly in her big screen debut. Luckily, it turns out that we can share a sigh of relief as she’ll be kicking ass with her pink constructs after all. 

The above image may very well be from one of the final confrontations of X-Men: Apocalypse. If you look to the background buildings, things appear to be in complete disarray. The setting is crumbled and burning, presumably due to the conflict between the X-Men and Apocalypse. It appears that this battle may be another highly public struggle, and one that may very well destroy the community that it is set in. This is reminiscent of recent films like Man Of Steel that show how superhero struggles can decimate the world around them.

Finally, we can look to the weather behind Psylocke for another clue. Due to the dark clouds that are surrounding the struggle, we can assume that Storm will be present in the same battle. Her elemental abilities would surely manifest itself into the dark clouds, so she might be able to use the power of lightning on her foes. 

X-Men: Apocalypse will fly into theaters on May 27th, 2016. 

The year is 1983, about 10 years after the events of X-Men: Days of Future Past. Thanks to Mystique publicly saving President Nixon from an attack by Magneto, it’s a world in which homo sapiens know about mutants and have largely accepted them into their society. Of course, prejudice still remains underneath the surface, and there are mutants still suffering.

It’s during this time that a great evil awakens. Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac), considered to be the first mutant, emerges after thousands of years to find his race facing discrimination instead of being worshipped as the deities he believes they are. What’s a seemingly immortal mutant with god-like powers to do in this case? Recruit four powerful followers and set a Biblical cleansing of the world into motion, one that will wipe out the weak while the strong rises from the ashes.

Last summer, we visited the Montreal-based sets of X-Men: Apocalypse on the 56th and 57th days of shooting to see what director Bryan Singer has in store. It’s going to be a brave new world for these characters, so ahead of the film’s May 27th premiere, here are some major details about the coming "end of days."

1. Apocalypse Will Have These Awesome Powers

In every incarnation of Apocalypse, the villain has a hefty arsenal of abilities. In the trailer, all we’ve really seen of Isaac’s version is his uncanny ability to grow to immense size. Though, because the scene involved a walking Professor X, some fans speculated it was happening in the astral plane. So, what are Apocalypse’s powers exactly?

While persuasion was mentioned during the Comic-Con panel as his most important power, Singer clarified that it’s not explicitly made clear whether this is a mutant ability or simply charisma. Even if it’s the latter, the character still has many others to play with, one of which is the power to imbue other mutants "to heighten their powers and abilities beyond anything imaginable." He can shield himself from psychic attacks, making it difficult for people like Xavier to penetrate his mind. Though, Singer clarified again that Apocalypse is not a psychic.

"His ability to physically damage, destroy, or build is in the non-biological world," Singer said. "That’s in the physical world. He can change… the inorganic molecules of things and so, you know, these are some of the powers that we’re exploring." How is it possible for one mutant to acquire so many abilities? "He moves from body to body," Singer said. "Apocalypse himself is not a physical form. He’s an energy." The director continued:

While Apocalypse may seem like the God of the Old Testament — that’s how Singer best thinks of him — he’s not really a deity. "If there isn’t the order and the worship, then he’ll open up the Earth and swallow you whole," Singer said. After discussing the character with Isaac, the concept evolved. "He’s the first mutant, perhaps, but he’s not God necessarily. He’s imbued with certain unique powers, some of them may or may not be from his birth - we don’t know."

2. We’ll See The Origin Of Storm In X-Men: Apocalypse

During the days of X-Men Origins, when there was talk of Magneto getting his own after Wolverine, another name thrown around by some fans — perhaps it was just me — was Storm. While she won’t be getting her own standalone film anytime soon, we’ll get to see her origins as a street thief in Cairo in X-Men: Apocalypse.

Said actress Alexandra Shipp, donning the character’s signature mohawk from the Age of Apocalypse story line:

Shipp referenced the character’s younger years when her parents were killed by a plane crashing into their home when she was 5. "She’s kind of just all really messed up, and the only mutants that she knows are bad mutants. The only mutants that she knows are the mutants who use their powers for stealing or protecting thugs." As a result, she leads a life on the street, using her abilities to distract bystanders while she grabs their cash.

"I don’t necessarily see her as a bad person or as a bad mutant," Shipp continued. "I don’t see her as a villain. She doesn’t know that she’s a villain. This is all she’s ever known."

3. Magneto Will Be Totally Different When We First Meet Him

We’ve seen Erik (Michael Fassbender) suffer at the hands of the Nazis. We’ve seen him become a being of vengeance. We’ve seen him become a leader, a terrorist, and, to some, a freedom fighter. But we haven’t seen him become a follower.

When we pick up again with Magneto after Days of Future Past, he’ll have been living off the radar in Poland for about 10 years. Even his biological son, Quicksilver, who’s been searching for him hasn’t yielded results. It’s in Europe where he tries to make a new, normal life for himself. He’ll have a job (at a steel mill), he’ll be in love (with his comic book baby mama Magda), but he’ll be broken.

Fassbender said,

When Apocalypse, then, arrives on the scene, Magneto sees him as a Biblical being, allowing him to go against his usual nature and become a follower. "He appreciates that this guy is going to do what he couldn’t do. You know? He’s got just so much more power than him. He’s such an immense force."

4. No One Is Safe

Even though the end of Days of Future Past offered us a glimpse into the future of this new X-Men timeline, characters can still die. That would mean that X-Men: Apocalypse isn’t necessarily leading up to where we see Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and the X-Men in X1. Writer-producer Simon Kinberg said,

Singer further teased, "What says [that] the awakening of a being [who] has such power can’t acquire the power to destabilize that [timeline]?" With a movie that’s named after the end of days, it seems very likely that not everyone will be walking away from this, especially when you see what Apocalypse has planned. According to Singer, the villain wants to "make a massive global shift."

By the looks of those massive cyclones in the trailer, it can’t be good.

5. How Stryker Fits Into X-Men: Apocalypse

The cat’s out of the bag. William Stryker is back in X-Men: Apocalypse. Even actor Josh Helman was surprised to see himself return. Though it appeared Stryker was the one to pull Wolverine up from the water in Days of Future Past, he was quickly revealed to be Mystique in disguise. So what has the real Stryker been up to? Helman said:

On set, Helman joined Lawrence, Hoult, Peters, and more for a scene showing the aftermath of a devastating explosion. (The location will remain top secret for now.) Is Stryker the reason behind all of this destruction? Quite possibly. What we know for certain is that Stryker helicopters onto this location, and leaves with an unspecified "cargo." With that, let's turn to the trailer.

In the first footage released of X-Men: Apocalypse, there's a shot that sees Quicksilver, an unidentifiable figure, and what looks to be Nightcrawler and Moira MacTaggert lying in a green-lit cell. Look familiar? If you saw X2, you might notice a similarity to grown-up Stryker's underground base at Alkali Lake. Now, here's another trade secret -- we learned that an Alkali Lake set was being built for the film.

Adding more mystery to the mix, Helman said of his version of the character, "I think, this is a very verbose way of saying that, yeah, it hues somewhat closely to the ideals that Stryker, particularly in X2 has, but we are now playing with different permutations of that."

6. How Deadpool Led Olivia Munn To X-Men: Apocalypse

The fan-favorite Psylocke was not initially in X-Men: Apocalypse. According to Simon Kinberg, he was up in Montreal with Bryan Singer during preproduction and they felt like they needed a different Horsemen. "We just started going through the cycling of the different Apocalypse Horsemen over history," he said. "We felt like we wanted it to be a female character and pretty quickly settled on Psylocke."

That's when Kinberg thought of Olivia Munn. The actress and Attack of the Show geek girl personality auditioned for a role in Deadpool a couple weeks earlier in L.A. Kinberg said it "ultimately wasn't the right character for her," but he wanted to keep in touch. "She has to do something in the X-Men world," he said.

She was already on his mind when he and Singer were thinking of who should play the character. After emailing Munn to see if she'd be interested in the role, she responded with examples of fan art of her as Psylocke. They quickly realized that no one on set had more background knowledge of the mutant from the comics than Munn.

No one knows more about Psylocke than Olivia Munn — at least, no one on the set of X-Men: Apocalypse. Even Bryan Singer joked in interviews about how little he knew about the character compared to Munn. "I felt like I had to basically pitch her," she said on the film’s set. "You have to do her justice."

Since landing the role of Apocalypse’s psionic blade-wielding Horseman, she’s been schooling the production team on the character. When they initially made her costume black, she said, "It has the be purple." When she realized how sexual Psylocke looked, she made sure the producers knew about her comic book roots. Though her character’s film future isn’t clear beyond her role in Apocalypse, Munn, with all this knowledge at her fingertips, has a few ideas on which story to tell in a potential standalone movie.

What the actress and self-proclaimed geek girl always loved about the character is how she came from a good family and lost everything.

Apocalypse's Four Horsemen have very specific abilities. While Storm can manipulate weather, Magneto metal, and Archangel gets a winged upgrade, Psylocke can create psionic weapons, including a katana and dagger. We've seen video of Munn training for these weapons, but she said it was James McAvoy's idea to learn how to wield them with both hands.

With Deadpool and Gambit getting their own solo films as Wolverine gets his third, it wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility for Psylocke to follow suit, especially if the characters proves to be a fan favorite in Apocalypse. The only issue with Olivia Munn’s idea is that the character’s origin would have to be tweaked from the comics.

When we meet Psylocke in X-Men: Apocalypse, she is fully formed as Psylocke. Munn described how she "was really big about staying so true to Psylocke," including the fact that she became Psylocke "because of the alien that took her body" and how "she was Psylocke after the Apocalypse story line." But because of the timeline — and, she joked, because she wanted to be in the movie — there are some divergences from the source material.

Sure, Kevin Hart and Ice Cube are both big stars, but when their buddy cop comedy Ride Along opened in January of 2014, won the box office race, and became a hit, it took many people by surprise. Earning a solid $134 million domestically ($154 million worldwide) with a modest $25 million budget, the fact that a sequel, oddly enough titled Ride Along 2, is on the way surprised absolutely nobody.

But what is the movie going to be about? Where does the action go down? Who is going to be involved in front of the camera and behind? And, most importantly, will it be as much damn fun as the first movie? As the release date for Ride Along 2 quickly creeps up on us, as we do with many major releases, we’ve compiled everything we know about the film thus far in one convenient place. The Director

Director Tim Story is no stranger to big movies and has all of the tools you’d want from someone at the helm a film like Ride Alone 2. He’s guided big studio superhero blockbusters, like 2004’s Fantastic Four, as well as the follow up, 2007’s Rise of the Silver Surfer. With that experience he should have a nice grasp of the action side of the equation, and with experience directing the likes of Barbershop (which stars Ice Cube), Think Like A Man (which stars Kevin Hart), and the Jimmy Fallon and Queen Latifah team up Taxi, he has ample experience on the comedy side, too.

Then there’s the fact that Tim Story directed Ride Along, and if you’re trying to replicate the success of the first movie, who better to have at the reins of the second? Not only is he intimately familiar with the material, he already has a grasp of the story, the characters, their motivations, what drives them, and the comedic timing and dynamic between the two leads. He’s in a perfect position to balance Hart’s manic comedy with Ice Cube’s pitch perfect straight man. In short, there’s no one else to have sitting in the big chair for Ride Along 2 than Tim Story, and fans of the first film should rest comfortable at night knowing the sequel is in good hands.

The Story

Ride Along follows Ben Barber (Kevin Hart), a fast-talking, video game-obsessed security guard who wants to become a cop. Ben also wants to marry his girlfriend, Angela (Tika Sumpter), but her brother, the hard-nosed, plays-by-his-own-rules detective, James (Ice Cube), doesn’t approve and tries to scare off his brother by taking him on the most hellish ride along he can concoct. This, of course, turns into harrowing series of criminal encounters, shootouts, and hostage scenarios through the streets of Atlanta, where Ben ultimately earns James’ begrudging respect and approval, and proves his worth to everyone.

Ride Along 2 picks up a few years later. After graduating from the police academy, Ben is now a full-fledged Atlanta cop (god help the residents of the Peach Tree State). But not too much has changed, as he still annoys the hell out of his future brother in law. Though his marriage is imminent, he and James are sent on an important mission to Miami, and the Atlanta environs are swapped out for the tropical paradise of South Florida. Ben and James have to venture to the Sunshine State; team up with the Miami Police Department and a smart, gorgeous detective, Maya Cruz (Olivia Munn); and work a case against a new drug supplier named Antonio Pope (Benjamin Bratt). Ben still needs to prove himself to James and his superiors, keep himself safe, and get back to Atlanta in time to marry his girl. There promises to be fast cars, tense situations, and Ben fucking it all up for everyone and just maybe saving the day.

Kevin Hart

If it feels like you can’t throw a rock without hitting Kevin Hart over the last few years, you’re not far off. In addition to hit movies like Ride Along and Think Like a Man, the 36-year-old comedian has been everywhere, showing up on TV and on the big screen, and in numerous stand-up comedy specials. Earlier this year, he teamed up with Will Ferrell for the prison comedy Get Hard, and he has become an in-demand host for big awards ceremonies, guiding the likes of the BET Awards and the MTV Video Music Awards - which he hopes will lead to bigger things as an emcee, like hosting the Oscars or Emmys.

And Kevin Hart is definitely not going away anytime soon. His standup career is booming, and he has a number of high-profile movies on the way that will only serve to raise his standing as a movie star. In addition to Ride Along 2, he is also teaming up with everyone’s favorite beefy action star, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in next year’s action comedy Central Intelligence. So, I hope you’re a fan, because Hart is going to continue to be everywhere for the foreseeable future.

Ice Cube

After beginning his career as a member of the seminal hip hop group, N.W.A., who had their story told earlier this year in the biopic Straight Outta Compton, where he was played by his own son, Ice Cube has become perhaps one of the most unlikely of movie stars. He started with dramatic roles, like in John Singleton’s Boyz n the Hood, Trespass, and Higher Learning, for which he earned an Academy Award nomination, but he then showed that he has lyrical, dramatic, and comedy chops in the Friday films.

Though he has such a natural presence and continues to play the badass so well in dramatic and action movies, and has starred in more adult-oriented comedies, somehow Ice Cube managed to become a huge success in family friendly movies like the Are We There Yet? franchise, among others. This softer side is a definite change from his days spinning stories of street life with N.W.A., though he still finds time to get in the studio and releases new tracks from time to time, when he can fit it into his busy acting, producing, writing, and directing schedule.

Olivia Munn

Though Olivia Munn started out her acting career in low-budget horror flicks and small gigs in movie few people remember, it was her stint as the co-host of geek culture series Attack of the Show that started her ascent. And that ascent has taken a sharp upturn lately with roles in the likes of Magic Mike, The Newsroom, and more. Oh yeah, she’s also going to play the first big screen version of the mutant Psylocke in next year’s X-Men: Apocalypse, which is sure to be a boon to her career.

We don’t know a ton about Munn's role in Ride Along 2, but it sounds like it will be a fairly sizeable part. She plays Maya Cruz, a detective with the Miami Police Department who teams with Ben and James to take down the big baddie. Given Munn’s penchant for comedy, as well as her ass kicking abilities (if you’ve seen those videos of her practicing her Psylocke moves, you know what we’re talking about), we hope to see both on full display.

Ken Jeong

You probably know Ken Jeong best as the little naked guy who jumps out of the trunk and latches onto Bradley Cooper in The Hangover, as the batshit-crazy disgraced Spanish teacher Ben Chang in the recently ended sitcom Community - or some similarly outlandish role that have been his bread and butter in recent years. But you know what? He’s also a freaking doctor. That’s right, he’s licensed to practice medicine in the great state of California, and you’ve seen his wiener. Jeong plays up this fact—that he’s a doctor, not that millions of movie fans have seen his penis — in his new ABC sitcom Dr. Ken, where he plays, you guessed it, a doctor.

When Ride Along 2 pulls up to the theater, you’ll see Jeong play a character named A.J. We don’t know much about him at this point, but considering we see him riding in the back of a police car with Ben and James, it looks like he plays some sort of criminal who shows up to provide some of the actor’s trademark comic relief. Perhaps he’s a snitch or informant who leads them to the big bad drug dealer, or an undercover officer working the case from the inside. One interesting fact is that there is another actor credited as A.J. on IMDb, a young kid named Andrew Ortega, so we have to wonder what that means. Maybe A.J. has some long-standing connection to one of the lead cops.

Benjamin Bratt

Veteran actor Benjamin Bratt has the unique ability to be funny, charming, and chilling, which are all skills that will likely come in handy in a movie like Ride Along 2. He plays Antonio Pope, the big drug dealer out of Miami that Ben, James, and the rest of the law enforcement officers try to take down. You don’t get to be a kingpin without being vicious, so you know there will be scenes where Bratt strikes fear into the heart of his underlings, but he also appears to be a smooth operator, and there will be ample opportunities for laughs facing off against Kevin Hart and Ice Cube.

Over the course of his long career, Bratt has played cops and criminals, gangsters and federal agents, and even lent his voice to a number of animated projects, like Despicable Me and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. He also got to play a superhero, at least vocally, lending his voice to Superman in some recent Justice League animated movies.

Tyrese Gibson

With his recurring role as Roman Pearce, the fast-talking comedy relief of the blockbuster Fast and Furious franchise, former model Tyrese Gibson has now fully left the world of fashion behind for a burgeoning career on the big screen. Starting with guest spots on TV shows like Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper and Martin, he’s gone on to lead dramas like Baby Boy and Waist Deep. These days he can be seen in all manner of high-octane action flicks, like several installments of the profitable Transformers series, Death Race, and more. Over the years, he’s also maintained a music career, belting out sweet and smooth R&B jams on a number of albums that, while maybe not the biggest sellers, definitely have a solid audience. If that’s not enough, he also wrote a best-selling book in 2012 called How To Get Out Of Your Own Way. And who knows, maybe one day he’ll get to live out his dream of playing Green Lantern.

In Ride Along 2, Tyrese plays D.J., and while we don’t know the precise nature of his character, from what we’ve seen in the trailers, my guess is that he’s a cop. We see him and James in a scene that could be straight out of a Fast and Furious movie, where a bunch of street racers gather to party, hang out, and drive much faster than the speed limit. They appear to be in the midst of some sort of undercover sting, which Ben, true to form, interjects himself into with disastrous results.

The Release Date

In the movie industry, the early part of the year, January and February, is usually regarded as a dead zone, a place where studios dump movies that didn’t come together quite like they hoped or that just plain suck. To some degree, that’s changed over the last few years, thanks in part of the likes of American Sniper, which was a massive hit after going wide in January (though it, admittedly, did premiere before the end of the year for awards season contention). Part of this is likely due to the limited amount of theatrical real estate—there are only so many weekends in a year—and studios have had to test their luck. For instance, the upcoming Power Rangers movie is slated for a January bow.

Ride Alone is one of those movies that found success in this time period, and attempting to replicate the windfall of its predecessor, Ride Along 2 opens on January 15, 2016. With an audience that already exists and that is hungry for more, this could be a nice bit of counter programming. Moviegoers may very well be in the mood for some comedy fun after a long season of blockbusters like Star Wars: The Force Awakens and The Hunger Games, and weighty awards bait. We’ll have to wait and see.

Undercover agents have been all the rage this year on the silver screen, whether they have been men from U.N.C.L.E., Kingsmen, or a dude on an impossible mission. So, where are the ladies? This is the right time to bring back Charlie’s Angels, and Pitch Perfect 2 director Elizabeth Banks may be the ideal candidate for the gig.

But who would Banks cast as the next generation of Angels? The last time we saw the ass-kicking ladies on screen, they were personified by Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu and Drew Barrymore. Even though Barrymore recently confided plans for a potential third movie, this franchise reset likely would look for fresh faces to fill its titular trio. We went ahead and picked 9 beautiful and talented actresses who we think would have the chemistry, the comedic chops and the action background needed to play one of Charlie’s Angels. Who did we miss? Zoe Saldana

Based on both the original television show and the two McG movies, Charlie’s three Angels need to have specific qualities if they are going to fly. They need to be attractive. They need to be resilient. They need to be intelligent. And they need to be funny. Saldana has ticked off all of those boxes in big-budget fare ranging from Guardians of the Galaxy and Star Trek to The Losers and Colombiana. Her Avatar commitments might keep her from signing on, but I think I’d rather see her in an Angels adventure then in more Pandora excursions.

Olivia Munn

Prior to Olivia Munn being cast as Psylocke in X-Men: Apocalypse, I’m not sure her name would have popped to mind for an action/comedy hybrid I’m assuming Charlie’s Angels will be (especially if Elizabeth Banks directs, as is rumored). Her ninja training videos have changed my mind, though. Plus, Munn has the right sense of humor to make cheeky material like Angels palatable. A lot of this will depend on who she’d be able to play off of, but I think Munn would bring an attitude and a physicality that the new Angels series could build on.

Lea Seydoux

A little international flavor for these new Angels. Lea Seydoux is an alluring French actress who has turned heads in provocative movies like The Lobster, Inglourious Basterds and Blue if the Warmest Color. But she’s no stranger to popcorn Hollywood fare, having appeared in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (where she battled with another lady on our wish list) and an upcoming James Bond thriller. That experience would prove invaluable if Sony and Banks wanted Seydoux to try her hand at being an Angel. Plus, we’d love to see a lighter side to this stunning actress… if there is one.

Rinko Kikuchi

Here’s a potential silver lining to Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim 2 being shelved indefinitely. Rinko Kikuchi can now become one of Charlie’s Angels! Those who caught the versatile actress in Pacific Rim know she can handle herself in fight sequences (look at her training photo above). Meanwhile, Rian Johnson tapped into her comedic talents in The Brothers Bloom. She’d be a welcome addition to a new Angels trilogy, which would introduce her to a wider global audience. Win win.

Paula Patton

Remember all of those things I said earlier? The qualities an Angel must possess? Looks. Intelligence. Humor. Paula Patton has all of this in spades. The one thing the actress has yet to add to her impressive resume, though, is a franchise. She has been a part of Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible films – going toe-to-toe with Lea Seydoux in Ghost Protocol. But she deserves more, and Sony could do well to recruit her to a multi-picture contract for Charlie’s before Marvel or Star Wars swoops down and finds the right role for her.

Megan Fox

Can someone rescue Megan Fox from shitty franchise Hell? It’s not enough that the poor girl had to do multiple Transformers movies? We’re now punishing her by sticking her in numerous Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles adventures? Who is her agent?! Fox is beautiful, and often proves that she’s in on the joke, not the butt of it. She absolutely can handle her own in action, and would bring that spunky Kate Jackson tone to a new Angels gathering. Also, working with a female director like Elizabeth Banks might help bring out a different side of Fox (and not the sensual side that male directors rush to highlight).

Jordana Brewster

When Furious 7 retired Paul Walker’s character, Brian, it basically attached Jordana Brewster’s character to his fate. I’d be stunned if Mia (Brewster) showed up in Fast 8, so the timing is perfect for Brewster to break free of her signature series and join a new one. Because she has been overshadowed by the larger than life action heroes of the Furious world, I’m not entirely sure if Brewster is funny enough, smart enough or skilled enough to contribute to a Charlie’s Angels franchise. But I’m more than willing to find out.

Scarlett Johansson

Here’s where we start to reach with our wish list, though not too far out of the realm of possibility. Remember, Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu were established stars when they appeared on screen in Charlie’s Angels (though not as big as ScarJo). Still, if Johansson wanted to distance herself from Marvel and anchor a franchise of her own – while also supporting Grrrl Power femininity on the big screen – this could be the ideal series for her goals. We know she can kick ass. We know that she’s funny. She’d be a dream candidate. Could Sony convince her to give it a try?

Jennifer Lawrence

Why not reach for the stars, right? Jennifer Lawrence has had two major franchises eating out of the palm of her Oscar-winning hand. But here’s the thing. Both are drawing to a close (if the rumors that X-Men: Apocalypse Is her final turn as Mystique). We know that she entertained the thought of becoming a Ghostbuster for Paul Feig. And she needs a franchise that taps into her obvious sense of humor. Angels sums up everything that Jennifer Lawrence specializes in (though, in truth, she basically specializes in everything). Landing J-Law as an Angel immediately elevates this reboot to blockbuster status. If we wish hard enough, do we think it might come true?

We're all patiently waiting for X-Men: Apocalypse's debut trailer - and have spent a good amount of time wondering what will be featured. Perhaps how the Four Horsemen are assembled? Maybe the titular villain showcasing some of his metamorphosis powers? Another possibility is that we see more of Olivia Munn's moves as Psylocke - and if that's the case, the actress has given us another little preview of what to expect:

Munn has been training very hard all throughout the course of production on X-Men: Apocalypse, and she has been using her Instagram feed fairly frequently to show fans her new skills. This particular video showcases some of the sick moves that she has learned to perform with a sword - and it's pretty damn impressive. She definitely earns the fun little wink she adds at the very end.

Thanks to Olivia Munn's social media prowess, we've had some fun watching her progress and get better with her swordplay. Admittedly she started off pretty damn great:

Now she has the skills to combine swinging a sword with complex martial arts choreography, and she looks great doing it.

After months of filming up in Quebec, Canada, X-Men: Apocalypse wrapped principal photography a couple weeks ago, and now director Bryan Singer will be taking it into the editing room and getting it ready for release next summer. We've heard rumors that the first trailer for the film is going to be attached to screenings of Ridley Scott's The Martian - which will be heading to theaters on October 2nd. If that's the case, we should see the preview drop online first in the next few weeks, so be sure to stay on the lookout!

Remember late last month when Olivia Munn posted a video of herself performing some wicked sword moves, and that other one with all the spin kicks? Well, this new video is kind of like those, but this one has the bonus of showing off just how surprisingly fast the actress' martial arts moves have gotten. Check her out below!

X-Men: Apocalypse may have wrapped first unit production, but the second unit is still filming up in Montreal, and it appears that Olivia Munn is still hard at work making sure that we all believe her as the fan-favorite mutant Psylocke. To this point, we don't know exactly how many fights the character will get into in the movie, or who she will be fighting, but what is clear from this Instagram video is that she's going to be using her legs as a strong asset.

Beyond Olivia Munn's training videos, not much has been revealed about the version of Psylocke that we will see in X-Men: Apocalypse - though we do know that she will be loyal to a seriously bad dude. As we learned last month at San Diego Comic-Con, the powerful telekinetic is one of the four mutants who are serving as the Horsemen of Apocalypse - a.k.a. the titular villain's personal guard. She is joined in this group by Michael Fassbender's Magneto, Alexandra Shipp's Storm, and Ben Hardy's Angel - though what isn't entirely clear yet is who each of them represent (War, Pestilence, Famine and Death).

X-Men: Apocalypse is set in 1983 and finds a world that has been completely changed by the events featured in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Rather than being at odds, there is a degree of peace between humans and mutants - and some even worship members of Homo superior. This leads to a lot of trouble, however, as the first mutant known as Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) is awoken from a deep slumber, and begins a campaign with the aim of ruling the world. Standing in his way, of course, are Professor X (James McAvoy) and his team of X-Men. In addition to all the impressive names already mentioned, the movie also stars Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters, Rose Byrne, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Kodi Smit-McPhee, and Lana Condor. See it in theaters May 27, 2016.

Dubsmash is the exquisite art of dubbing short selfie videos with famous sounds, and Olivia Munn is better at it than any of us. Shortly before she partied it up with her fellow X-Men: Apocalypse co-stars at the wrap party, her and her boyfriend, football player Aaron Rodgers, had some fun with the popular app, channelling everything from Princess Bride to Mariah Carey.

As fate would have it, their first video is their best video. The two reenacted the famous scene from The Princess Bride between Miracle Max (Billy Crystal) and his wife Valerie (Carol Kane). It’s right in the heat of the moment when she’s screaming "Liar" at Max, and the two bring such zest and life to the moment. Munn, then, went solo for the next Dubsmash to channel another famous scene from the film: Mandy Patinkin’s "My name is Inigo Montoya…"

Munn and Rodgers churned out six Dubsmashes, because sometimes the spirit moves you. The actress and token geek girl went on to reenact Denzel Washington’s King Kong line from Training Day, channeling the same intensity that won Washington that Best Actor Oscar.

The pair then reunited for some musical numbers, the best of which would have to be Mariah Carey’s "Hero." While Munn takes the role of lip syncing the classic song, Rodgers is in the background delivering the interpretive dance of his life. It’s true what they say about athletes being graceful dancers. All of them, including Boyz II Men’s "End of the Road" and Sarah McLachlan’s "I Will Remember You," are worth watching. Check them all out on Munn’s Instagram.

The actress had been training for her role of Psylocke in X-Men: Apocalypse, learning martial arts and katana-twirling from her trainers. Director Bryan Singer recently announced on social media that the main unit has wrapped. Though he tweeted there are a couple more weeks left of second unit work, the cast and crew met up for a night of frivolity at the wrap party in Montreal. Munn posted photos of herself posing with two of her other Horsemen — Ben Hardy (Angel/Archangel) and Alexandra Shipp (Storm). Also spotted, as Instagrammed by Singer, were Josh Helman (William Stryker) and James McAvoy (Professor Xavier).

When Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse hits movie theaters next year, it will bring fan-favorite mutant Psylocke along with it, portrayed by Olivia Munn. Not only will this mark the telepathic mutant’s latest feature film adventure (she appeared briefly in X-Men: The Last Stand in 2006), it also looks like we’re going to be getting her psychic knife. We’ve seen videos of Munn practicing her ass kicking skills, and two new behind-the-scenes have surfaced showing her practicing with a katana, one of her traditional weapons, as well as a second, smaller blade that could very well be a stand in for the telepathic weapon.

Instagram user mamapeachsb captured these videos of Munn on set, attached to wires, flipping around, weapons in hand, and generally looking pretty badass. We can’t wait to see her with purple hair and showing off her cinematic martial arts skills on screen. The appearance of the katana is no surprise, she is a ninja after all, but that second blade has given some pause and caused some speculation that her psychic knife may come into play in X-Men: Apocalypse.

Starting life in 1976 as Betsy Braddock, the character didn’t really become Psylocke until Chris Claremont, who created her, brought her into the X-Men franchise in the mid-1980s—she was abducted into the Mojoverse, rescued by the New Mutants, and eventually took up residence at a mutant training school run by Magneto. We know that in Apocalypse she and Magneto (Michael Fassbender), along with Storm (Alexandra Shipp) and Angel/Archangel (Ben Hardy), are the titular villain’s Four Horsemen, and this could explain their connection in the film.

It wasn’t until even later than this that the psychic knife first showed up on the scene. It kind of crept in as the character became more of a badass warrior and assassin. After she was abducted by the Hand, brainwashed, and turned from a British model into an Asian assassin (yep, that happened), that’s when she gained the ability to focus the totality of her psychic abilities and telepathy to form the "psychic knife."

It remains to be seen if what we witness here in these videos is indeed a stand-in for the psychic knife. What Olivia Munn has in her grip looks a bit like a like a handsaw, but it doesn’t really fit in with anything else that we know of from the character’s arsenal. She is a skilled assassin and fighter, so it’s possible she has other tools, but it does stand to reason that it is her psychic knife. How she uses the weapon here, and the general shape, does resemble how Psylocke wields her ability in the comics.

We’ll find out for sure what this is when Munn and the rest of the cast of X-Men: Apocalypse hits the silver screen on May 27, 2016.

You’re all on notice. Don’t mess with Psylocke. She’s going to kick your ass. Olivia Munn will be playing the mutant with psychic power in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse. Traditionally Psylocke is also a trained martial artist however, and now we’ve got an inside look at the skills Munn is acquiring to do the role justice. Check out the video below.

In this short clip posted to Munn’s Instagram account we get to see her in training. She is very light on her feet being able to throw repeated kicks while moving and spinning. She’s certainly picking up the necessary mad ninja skill to make Psylocke the lethal badass that fans know her to be. While many like to focus on Psylocke’s sex appeal, Munn has made it clear that she sees a lot more in the character that she plans to bring out. She sees Psylocke as a strong presence with lethal power and she wants to be sure that is seen on screen. This is just a sample of that. Last month we saw that she’s been training with weapons as well, so it looks like Munn is well on her way to completing the total Psylocke package. We can't wait to see this action on screen.

The only potential issue is seeing Munn perform the same moves while dressed in costume. Psylocke’s traditional outfit is as famous as the character herself and we know Munn’s outfit will be right in line with the comics. Munn has spoken about the amount of work that goes into getting her into the costume as well as some of the problems that such a tight fitting piece of her wardrobe has caused. We assume the latex was built to withstand Munn kicking ass.

Fans have been excited to see Psylocke reach her full potential in an X-Men film since her last iteration in X-Men: The Last Stand was a bit disappointing. She has been a fan favorite for a long time and her lack of development in the franchise has been an ongoing source of frustration. It’s great to see that everybody is doing their part to bring Munn's version of the character to life. This version of Psylocke looks to be very faithful to the comic book version including the trademark purple hair.

We’re looking forward to seeing Olivia Munn as Psylocke even more now than we were when her casting was announced. She’s working hard to bring out the character’s power and we’re excited to see the culmination of those efforts when X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters in may of 2016.

Earlier this week, X-Men: Apocalypse dropped a few exclusive photos of some of the new mutants to join the mix when the latest installation of the franchise hits theaters. Among them was Olivia Munn’s Psylocke. We had seen teases of her character before, and even heard from Olivia Munn herself how detailed (and tight) her costume would be. But it wasn’t until we caught that first glimpse that we realized just how awesome (and sexy) her costume was.

Psylocke’s live-action costume stayed true to the comic books, and looks as if she has stepped right from the pages. But, as we see in the comic books, that costume is quite tight, and quite sexualized, considered a norm when it comes to female superheroes. Munn has even teased that she needed a team of women along with a bunch of lube to even slip into her costume. But for the actress, it’s not the sexiness of the outfit that matters. There’s so much more to it. She explained to Entertainment Weekly:

Essentially, the costume was important to make Olivia Munn recognizable as Psylocke. Along with the suit she’s rocking the purple hair and appropriate weaponry. But for Munn, who is well aware of how sexualized she is made in this costume, it doesn’t matter one bit. The costume does nothing, it’s her strength and power that makes Psylocke, well Psylocke.

Until we see footage (which hopefully will be coming real soon considering it was shown at a recent panel presentation at San Diego Comic-Con) we can’t be sure how distracting her costume will be or not. For now, we’d like to believe Munn, because Psylocke seriously looks hot, but also super badass and a force to be reckoned with. The actress has also teased her learned sword skills in the recent weeks as she prepped for her performance as the telepathic mutant.

For those less familiar with the X-Men comics, Psylocke a.k.a. Elizabeth Braddock is a powerful mutant with both telekinetic and telepathic abilities, but also excellent fighting skills, particularly with a sword/katana. She is also known to manipulate psionic energy to create her own weaponry as well, mostly of the sword and knife variety.

After the X-Men: Apocalypse panel at SDCC, it was learned that Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) would be recruiting weak-willed mutants including Psylocke, young Storm (Alexandra Shipp) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to become his followers. These four will be among the many other mutants included in the upcoming film, which Oscar Isaac gave away to include a massive mutant battle.
