Few actresses manage to achieve the kind of icon status that Sharon Stone has notched over the course of her illustrious career. The Oscar-nominated actress has plenty of film and TV credits under her belt, and she continues to add to her filmography. Now 68, Stone has firmly landed on “queen” status, and it’s lovely whenever she receives her flowers. To that point, Stone recently received love after she shared a photo of herself in a bikini, as Pom Klementieff, Laura Benanti and others showed her some serious love.

Stone is quite active on social media, where she treats her followers to some truly sweet posts. Just recently, she really drew some positive attention when she shared the aforementioned swimwear photo on Instagram. Stone’s post referenced the imminent arrival of warmer months, and this comes ahead of what will be her 68th summer. Check out the snapshot of the Casino star, which shows her basking in the sunlight and foliage in front of a pool:

The fan-favorite actress looks downright lovely, and she’s certainly getting me pumped for the prospect of warmer weather. What’s really delightful about this post, though, is the sheer amount of buzz it seems to be creating. It’s lovely to see fellow stars and media personalities shouting out Sharon Stone, who’s really working that bikini. There’s just so much to love about Stone, from her boldness as an artist to the no-nonsense and candid approach she possesses when doing interviews. She’s truly a legend for a myriad of reasons and, more recently, it’s been delightful to see her emerge as a positive force within the social media landscape.

What I find to be particularly interesting are the anecdotes that Stone shares about her experiences within the entertainment industry. For example, she previously opened up about her wild time hosting Saturday Night Live, which involved some audience members storming the stage. Fellow stars have also shared cool stories about Stone, including Leonardo DiCaprio, whose salary for 1995’s The Quick and The Dead was actually paid by Stone.

Unfortunately, not all the stories Sharon Stone herself has shared have been positive, including her recollection of being pressured to sleep with co-stars to build chemistry. However, despite any negativity, Stone continues to thrive and land roles. (Her portrayal of a power-hungry baddie in Nobody 2 is one of the more recent performances Stone has given that I really enjoy.) So here’s to plenty of future gigs for Stone as well as plenty of other summers during which she can sport a bikini.

Stone’s next film is the comedy film In Memoriam, which also stars Marc Maron, Lily Gladstone, Judy Greer, Justin Long and more. This 2026 movie schedule entry will premiere at the Tribeca Festival on June 6.

When you work with Tom Cruise, you are bound to end up with unbelievable stories. From legends of epic stunts and boot camp to the stories about that coconut cake he sends, the tales his colleagues have about him are endlessly entertaining. That proved to be true again, as Simon Pegg recalled a memory from filming Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning that involves helicopters and sharks.

You know, it’s not surprising at all that when asked what Tom Cruise story they’d be telling at dinner parties, both Simon Pegg and Pom Klementieff had answers involving helicopters. During an interview with CinemaBlend’s Jeff McCobb, the Benji actor was quick to recall his story, too.

At first, he told a tale about doing a “speed zipline around an entire canyon with Tom” while they were working in Morocco. However, he then shifted gears to Final Reckoning’s release on the 2025 movie schedule, and a story about filming in South Africa. In his words:

Both Pegg and Greg Tarzan Davis had worked with Tom Cruise prior to The Final Reckoning. However, I imagine moments like this are still just as mind-blowing, no matter how many Mission: Impossible movies you’ve worked on.

Continuing his story, the Shaun of the Dead star explained what it was like to watch his co-star fly around them as they walked up this picturesque location, saying:

This feels on brand for Tom Cruise, and Pom Klementieff proved it. When asked the same question, she said that while they were shooting in London, the Ethan Hunt actor would give them a “ride home” in his helicopter.

However, Pegg's story doesn’t end with the helicopter. Oh, no. As I promised, this also involves sharks. After that magical movie moment where they watched the Top Gun actor fly by in a helicopter, and finished filming for the day, they all flew to the coast to go swimming with sharks, as the Hot Fuzz actor explained:

If this story were about any other actor, the fact that this cast seemingly went shark diving on a whim would be unfathomable. However, because this centers around Tom Cruise, I’m not shocked at all.

The actor is so committed to action and stunts, and clearly loves a good adrenaline rush. He also adores getting his co-stars into activities like this, too – I mean, he literally gifted Glen Powell flight lessons after Top Gun: Maverick.

So, overall, this fun story about Tom Cruise, helicopters and sharks fits right in with the catalog of stories other cast members have told about him. I just wish it somehow could have been committed to film like some of the best stunts in the Mission: Impossible movies, so we could experience it too.

As a resident of Los Angeles, my winter experience doesn’t quite match those of people in most other areas of the country. While some states are dealing with freezing temperatures and multiple inches of snowfall, it’s a mild 67 degrees outside as I write this article. Regardless, I can’t help but feel a tad bit chilly as I watch a holiday greeting video from the stars of Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning that was filmed while the actors were shooting on location in the arctic.

The official Twitter account for the Mission: Impossible franchise has posted a video of Simon Pegg, Greg Tarzan Davis, and Pom Klementieff singing “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” and it comes with the caption, “An arctic holiday greeting from the set of #MissionImpossible — The Final Reckoning.” It’s not specified exactly where the actors are (the giant tanker in the background suggests a port or a shore somewhere), and even though they are all bundled up, they still look like they are seriously cold:

You have to squint a bit looking at the video to confirm that it’s Simon Pegg and Pom Klenentieff, as both actors are wearing face coverings, but I can’t blame them for wanting to expose as little skin as possible given the conditions of their surroundings.

As for why the stars of Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning are in the arctic, it likely has something to do with that very special submarine that fans of the franchise first learned about in Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning last year. For those that don't recall, the Russian sub, named The Sevastopol, houses an advanced AI called The Entity that could destroy the world as we know it if unleashed or put in the wrong hands. A special two part key is needed to control the Entity, and Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt successfully acquired said key at the end of the 2023 blockbuster.

Simon Pegg will be back as reliable IMF agent and Ethan Hunt ally Benji Dunn; Pom Klementieff is reprising her role as Paris after saving Ethan's life at the end of the last adventure; and Greg Tarzan Davis will be back as Degas, who is evidently joining the protagonist on his latest adventure after being a foe in the last film.

The upcoming 2025 blockbuster is also set to feature Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Angela Bassett, and Henry Czerny.

While there was a plan at one point to have the new sequel arrive in theaters this past June, the Hollywood labor strikes of 2023 threw a wrench into the gears for that plan, and now Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning is set for release on May 23, 2025. It’s one of CinemaBlend’s most anticipated big screen releases set to arrive in the next calendar year, so you can be sure that we’ll be writing a lot about it in the months ahead as we get closer to its debut.

The superhero genre continues to be a powerful force, with shared universes like the MCU (which is streaming with a Disney+ subscription). There are a number of upcoming Marvel movies coming down the line, although certain franchises stand out as fan favorites. Chief among them is Guardians of the Galaxy, although Mantis actress Pom Klementieff reveals she dreamed of joining another A+ Marvel team early on. And to be honest, I can totally see it.

Those of us who have spent years watching the Marvel movies in order know that Klementeiff perfectly brought Mantis to life in live-action. Fans are wondering if that character will return after Guardians 3's ending, but it turns out that she was down for joning another superheroic team: the X-Men. During an appearance at ACE Superhero Comic Con (via Agents of Fandom), the actress spoke about this, offering:

There you have it. While she was pitch perfect in her own Marvel team with the Guardians of the Galaxy, it sounds like she would have loved to bring the X-Men to the shared universe if she got the chance. Unfortunately, it would take a few years before Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox finally opened the doors for that possibility. And Klementieff would no doubt be great as a member of the X-Men. 

Since the MCU began, fans have been not-so-patiently waiting for the X-Men to join in on the fun. And while we've gotten teases with Ms. Marvel's ending and the credits scene of The Marvels, the team itself hasn't actually assembled just yet. Although it does seem like that's going to happen sometime soon.

So now the question is: who could Pom Klementieff have played from the long list of X-Men characters? I could definitely s her as a badass villain like Mystique, as well as heroes like Blink or an adult version of Jubilee. Of course, I'm curious about which characters the Guardians of the Galaxy actor might have had in mind prior to joining the MCU. 

While the X-Men are indeed coming to the MCU, it would be surprising if a recognizable face like Klementieff got cast. Instead, it seems more likely that she would either return as Mantis or pivot to the DC side of things for another collaboration with James Gunn. We'll just have to wait and see what comes next. 

The MCU returns to theaters with Deadpool & Wolverine on July 26th. While we wait, check the 2025 movie release dates. 

UPDATE: James Gunn has gone on Threads to say that neither Pom Klementieff nor Miriam Shor have been cast in Superman: Legacy. The filmmaker said he hadn't had any discussions with Klementieff about appearing, nor does he "have any idea what role she would possibly play." However, he did say he'd like to find a "place" for Shor in the DCU, whether it's in Legacy or another project. The original story continues below.

Superman: Legacy is coming to help usher in the new DC Universe, and it’s boasting a stacked lineup of actors. Ever since David Corenswet was officially announced to be playing the new Man of Steel, the cast of Superman: Legacy has been slowly coming together, and that includes Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 alum Nathan Fillion coming aboard to play the Guy Gardner version of Green Lantern. Well, good news for those of you who enjoyed the second of 2023’s Marvel movies in order, as writer/director James Gunn has recruited two other actors he worked with on the threequel to join this upcoming DC movie.

Pom Klementieff and Miriam Shor are the latest of the actors jumping from Marvel to DC, although unlike the other Legacy castings we’ve heard about so far, THR did not have any information on either of these actresses’ roles. Klementieff, of course, made her big Hollywood debut as Mantis in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and along with reprising the role in Vol. 3 and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, she was present in Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame and Thor: Love and Thunder. Shor appeared in the threequel as Vim, who was one of The High Evolutionary’s recorders alongside Nico Santos’ Theel.

Between those two and Nathan Fillion, who played Master Karja in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 after cameoing as an alien prisoner in the first Guardians movie, this threequel is well represented in the new Superman movie. Outside of the MCU, Klementieff most recently played the assassin Paris in Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning, and she’ll reprise the role in Mission: Impossible 8. Shor can next be seen in Maestro, which will premiere to Netflix subscribers on December 20, and she’s also well known for playing Diana Trout on Younger.

It should be noted that back in July, Pom Klementieff teased that she’d been talking with James Gunn about potentially joining the DC Universe, because along with working on Superman: Legacy, he’s also co-running DC Studios with Peter Safran. So her casting shouldn’t come as a complete shock, and even though we have no idea who she or Miriam Shor are playing yet, the actress did say that she and Gunn had been discussing “one specific character.” Now fans can begin speculating on who this mysterious player could be.

Even as the Superman: Legacy cast continues to grow, specific plot details about the sequel remain shrouded in mystery. That said, James Gunn has said Legacy will not depict Clark Kent’s origin story, and All-Star Superman and Superman: For All Seasons are among the stories that inspired Gunn’s script. It’s also looking like Superman’s main adversaries in the movie will be Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor and a team of villains that includes María Gabriela De Faría’s Angela Spica, a.k.a. The Engineer. It’s a good bet this team will be The Authority given that Angela’s part of that lineup in the comics, so if this ends up accurate, we’ll see them depicted in an antagonistic light before they lead their own DC Universe movie.

While Pom Klementieff is best know for playing Mantis in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, she’s now part of another action-heavy Hollywood franchise. Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning, one of the bigger 2023 movie releases, saw her playing Paris, a French assassin of few words working for the rogue AI known as The Entity. Dead Reckoning left Paris’ fate on an ambiguous note, so did she die or not? Well, since Klementieff has been shown in action on the set of Mission: Impossible 8, we can rest easy knowing she’ll be alive and kicking for the next entry.

Simon Pegg, who’s been regularly playing Benji Dunn in this film series since 2006’s Mission: Impossible 3, posted a picture of his Instagram account of Klementieff behind the wheel of a car, no doubt while rehearsing a major action sequence. Furthermore, as you’ll see below, Pegg clarified to those who thought that Paris died that they should “think again.”

In case you need a refresher on Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning’s ending, although Paris served as an adversary for Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt and his allies for the majority of the movie, things took a turn when Ethan spared her life when they fought in that Venice alleyway. Later on, The Entity instructed Esai Morales’ Gabriel to kill her because it determined she’d eventually betray them because Ethan let her live. Despite being badly injured, Paris managed to save Ethan and Hayley Atwell’s Grace from falling out of the train, as well as informed the IMF agent about The Entity’s connection to the Sevastopol submarine.

For a few minutes, it looked as though Paris died after sharing that information with Ethan, but when Shea Whigham’s Jasper Briggs and Greg Tarzan Davis’ Degas, the two US intelligence agents who’d been chasing after Ethan and his team, arrived at the scene, they discovered that she still had a pulse. Granted, that’s still no guarantee of survival in Mission: Impossible 8, but thanks the picture Simon Pegg shared, those who walked out of Dead Reckoning enjoying Pom Klementieff’s role can take comfort knowing we’ll see more of her.

From there, it’s just a matter of learning how Paris fits into what we know about Mission: Impossible 8, which had previously been known as Dead Reckoning Part 2, but has been left untitled since it was pushed to 2025. Presumably we don’t have to worry about her rejoining with Gabriel and The Entity considering what they did to her, but like Grace, will Paris join the IMF, or after recovering from her injuries, will she seek out a new life path that eventually intersects back with Ethan’s? That’s hard to say for now, though clearly the events of Mission: Impossible 8 will see her getting back behind the wheel.

Mission: Impossible 8 is currently set for May 23, 2025. While we keep our ears out for more updates on its progress, remember that you can stream Dead Reckoning and its six predecessors with a Paramount+ subscription.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to be a powerful force in the entertainment industry. But those of us who have spent years watching the Marvel movies in order have certain fan favorites. James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy franchise is definitely in that category, and the trilogy recently came to an end with Vol 3. And I can’t get enough of Chris Pratt, Pom Klementieff and more adding a little extra something to their Guardians 3 costumes in a funny set photo. And yes, Gunn is involved.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 cast is super close, with many of them spending years together playing their cosmic heroes. There’s especially a ton of love for the franchise’s filmmaker, with the Guardians signing a letter in solidarity back when Gunn was briefly fired. Case in point: an Instagram post James Gunn shared which shows the cast wearing T-shirts with his face on it. Check it out below: 

I mean, how cute is that? One can only imagine how Gunn reacted when he walked on set and saw various members of the Guardians of the Galaxy wearing his face over their matching suits. And I personally would love one of these matching shirts for my own wardrobe.

The above image is thoroughly adorable, and shows Gunn and some of the Guardians on a blue screen set, which is fairly commonplace for the MCU as a whole. But while the sets might need to be brought to life with CGI, these James Gunn t-shirts are very real. And per this caption, the shirts were made by Guardians actor Nathan Fillion, who will also be part of Gunn’ Superman: Legacy.

Given how much love is shared between James Gunn and the Guardians cast, it’s a little depressing that they might never be reunited in the MCU. The ending of Guardians 3 offered happy endings for the team, although they were split up. The movie’s end title cards revealed that Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord would be back, but the rest of the Guardians' fates are a mystery. I'm personally hoping Pom Klementieff's Mantis gets a spinoff adventure with the group of giant Abilisks she befriended throughout Vol. 3's runtime. 

It certainly seems like James Gunn has wrapped up his time in the MCU, and has pivoted his focus to the DC side of things. He and Peter Safran were named co-CEOS of the DCU, and they’re planning a decade of movies. We’ll just have to see if the DC folks also rock shirts with his face on it while filming upcoming DC movies.

Some talent has worked in a few of these franchises, including filmmaker James Gunn. In addition to helming the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise for Marvel, Gunn was recently named the co-CEO of the DCU. He also recently hinted at which Guardians actors he’d like to bring to the DCU, and sign me up. Here’s what he said.

Gunn did the impossible with the Guardians franchise, making the motley crew of unknown heroes into fan favorites. He dipped his toes into the waters of DC with The Suicide Squad and its TV spinoff Peacemaker, and now he’s the architect behind the shared universe as a whole. Gunn recently posted on Threads, where a fan asked if actors Chris Pratt or Pom Klementieff could get a DCU role as themselves.

Well, I’m intrigued. If James Gunn is unwilling to even consider the Star-Lord and Mantis actors playing themselves in the DCU, I have to wonder what he might be planning for them. Although technically Klementieff did have a cameo in The Suicde Squad. Still, I have to assume his plans for her are much bigger than that brief appearance.

James Gunn’s response on threads is just the latest example of the filmmaker communicating directly with the fans. Gunn is often shutting down rumors about his comic book projects, or offering intriguing tidbits about what’s to come. This news about Guardians stars and the DCU is in the latter category, and is sure to inspire some fan theories. Who could Chris Pratt and Pom Klementieff end up playing in the shared universe? Only time will tell.

With the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise seemingly wrapped up after Vol. 3, the door is open for James Gunn and company to move onto other projects. The end of Guardians 3 confirmed that Star-Lord would eventually be back, but the rest of the cosmic team’s future is unclear. Although given how much Gunn loves woking with his cast including Klementieff, it would make sense if she got a major DC role in the future. For her part, the Mantis actress has expressed interest in reuniting with him in this way. 

Of course, the big question is exactly where we could see Pom Klementieff and Chris Pratt in the new DCU. Since Gunn and Peter Safran are kickstarting a new version of the shared universe, it seems like just about any character is up for grabs. This includes new characters or ones that we’ve previously seen on the big screen. After all, Henry Cavill isn’t playing Clark Kent in James Gunn’s movie Superman: Legacy.

Blue Beetle is in theaters now, and the next upcoming DC movie hitting theaters is Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom on December 20th. In the meantime, check out the 2023 movie release dates to plan your next movie experience. 

I very much enjoyed Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning, but if I had one reason to complain, it would be that there was just not quite enough of Pom Klementieff. Despite barely saying a word (unless it was in French), her performance in the seventh installment of the Mission: Impossible movies as a vicious assassin only known as “Paris” is one of the most striking and memorable out of anyone in the star-studded ensemble. If you still can’t get enough of Pom Klementieff after finishing this binge, there is surely more where that came from, too, and we cannot wait.

It has been a terrific summer for Pom Klementieff. Though it seems like a long time ago at this point, she helped to kick off Summer 2023 with the Marvel Studios sequel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which will be available with a Disney+ subscription beginning on August 2. And she joined the Mission: Impossible franchise with the new installment Dead Reckoning, Part One, where she plays the nearly silent assassin, Paris. In the process, Klementieff joined the cadre of incredibly badass actresses to contribute to the action in the Mission: Impossible series, which includes Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, and in this chapter, Hayley Atwell behind the wheel of a yellow Fiat. Klementieff did her own driving through the streets of Rome in Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning, Part One, but the sequence I’ll remember from this movie is Klementieff’s fight with Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt in an alleyway. 

A lot gets made about the spectacular stunts that Tom Cruise and Christopher McQuarrie stage on behalf of the Mission: Impossible franchise, with this sequel involving a fight on a moving train, and that memorable sequence involving a motorcycle jump off of a cliff. What gets overlooked, however, are the well-choreographed fight sequences, such as one between Ethan Hunt and Paris in an alley that’s so tight, people can barely turn around. 

During our interview with Pom Klementieff while she was in Rome doing press on behalf of Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning, Part One, we brought up the alley fight, and the actress perked up, telling us:

It does seem like Tom Cruise gets the lion’s share of attention when it comes to Mission: Impossible, and rightfully so. But there’s remarkable physical work being done by his co-stars, and Pom Klementieff and Hayley Atwell, specifically, raise their game for this sequel. Here’s everything that we know already about Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning, Part Two, though we have to wait for June 28, 2024 to see how this story resolves. 

With Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One finally here, audiences finally have a chance to meet Pom Klementieff’s villainous character, Paris. And especially compared to her role as Mantis in the Guardians of the Galaxy films, Paris is a rather silent character who only speaks in choice moments during the movie. Klementieff opened up about what conversations came out of that choice with us. 

CinemaBlend’s own Sean O’Connell spoke to the actress while the cast was in Rome, Italy doing press for the movie. When asked about the decision for Paris to barely speak in Dead Reckoning Part One, here’s what Pom Klementieff had to say: 

It sounds like Klementieff’s limited dialogue in the latest of 2023 new movie releases was purposeful to her character and the actress’ own acting influences. Her picks are incredible and obviously iconic, and she wanted to emulate them with the character of Paris. As she continued: 

Paris is among quite a few villains in Dead Reckoning Part One, with her character being an assassin who is sent to pursue the Impossible Mission Force, including Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt, of course. When speaking to the character’s motivations, Pom Klementieff also said this: 

Pom Klementieff is a French actress who has broken into the world of Hollywood as of late, most notably as Mantis in the MCU. The Mission: Impossible role marks her second major franchise role, but since she knows James Gunn personally, she could also jump to DC Studios next. Klementieff has called working with Tom Cruise a “dream come true” for her. 

Plus, she’s caught the daredevil bug herself, recently sharing that she has skydived over 100 times since Cruise gifted her skydiving lessons in October 2021. The new movie is currently enjoying rave reviews from critics and audiences alike and is expected to earn around $80 million during its first five days in theaters, per Variety. The movie, which started shooting in early 2020 just as the COVID-19 pandemic started to spread, reportedly cost $290 million to produce. 

Tom Cruise had a massive box office win last year with the massive response to Top Gun: Maverick, which became the second highest grossing movie of 2023 behind the second Avatar and earned Oscar nominations. We’ll see how the latest Mission: Impossible movie does, which is in theaters now. Pom Klementieff is also expected to reprise her role as Paris in Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part Two, which is currently expected to open in theaters on June 28, 2024. 

James Gunn has demonstrated a clear appreciation for the acting talents of Pom Klementieff since their first collaboration in the making of Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3. Not only is Klementieff's Mantis a substantial character in the Marvel blockbuster and its big screen sequel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but she is spotlighted in the Guardians Of The Galaxy Holiday Special and has a cameo in Gunn's first DC film, The Suicide Squad. This history in mind, it's hardly surprising that the two friends have had conversations about their professional futures together, which may include a role in the growing DC Universe.

Pom Klementieff has been doing the press rounds recently promoting her new movie Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part 1, and she was asked by The Movie Dweeb about the possibility of her having a role in James Gunn's plans as the new co-CEO of DC Studios. The actor confirmed that they have had talks about a character, and while she wouldn't provide any specifics, she did note that it's a role that would give her plenty more opportunities to kick ass on screen. Said Klementieff,

As alluded to above, fans will remember that Pom Klementieff made an uncredited appearance as a La Gatita Amable dancer in The Suicide Squad, but as James Gunn works to establish the new canon that is the DC Universe, it sounds like he has a much more significant role in mind for who to play. But what role could it be?

One thing that makes speculation difficult is the sheer number of projects that have already been announced as part of the DC Universe. It's possible that James Gunn is keeping a hero or villain role set aside for her in Superman: Legacy (which recently cast its Clark Kent and Lois Lane), but if not, there exist plenty of other opportunities for her. In addition to upcoming DC movies including The Authority, The Brave And The Bold, Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow and Swamp Thing, there is the possibility that she will be unleashed in one of the developing DC small screen projects – options including the animated Creature Commandos, Waller (starring Viola Davis), Lanterns, Paradise Lost, Booster Gold and (maybe) Peacemaker Season 2.

With Superman: Legacy not set to hit theaters until 2025, we are still at a point in time when there's a lot more that we don't know about the DC Universe than we do, so everything new we learn is an exciting piece that fits into the puzzle. I’ve noticed over the last couple of years that when actors work with Tom Cruise, some of them fall in love with the action star’s sky-related hobbies. For example, he paid for his Top Gun: Maverick co-star’s flight training, and now Glen Powell, who played Hangman, is a pilot. The same kind of effect happened to the actor’s Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One co-star Pom Klementieff, who revealed she fell in love with skydiving after the man behind Ethan Hunt gifted her lessons. 

Klementieff, who plays the assassin after Hunt in Mission: Impossible 7, spoke about all her favorite things with NYT. It’s an eclectic list that included her motorcycle, baking, “not-safe-for-work socks,” Quentin Tarantino and more. However, the item that stuck out to me was skydiving. She mentioned that she took it up after being given lessons as a wrap gift from Tom Cruise. The thoughtful present, turned into quite the hobby for the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 star, as she said:

It sounds like Tom Crusie’s “need for speed” (and skydiving) has rubbed off on the Dead Reckoning Part One cast member. The Top Gun star is known for being quite the adrenaline junkie both on and off screen (I mean did you see that motorcycle cliff jump in M:I 7?), and he seems to love sharing that passion for extreme hobbies with his friends and co-stars. 

This story about Pom Klementieff getting into skydiving because Tom Cruise gifted her lessons reminds me a lot of how Glen Powell got into aviation. The Top Gun: Maverick star got his license in 2020, and he noted in his Instagram post about it that the Maverick actor played a big part in the accomplishment. The Set It Up star said his co-star gifted him flight lessons for Christmas, and he was inspired to pursue aviation because he had watched the actor/producer “rocket off into the sunset” while filming the legacy sequel.

Much like Powell, Klementieff found her passion for the sky after working with Tom Cruise. While she said she was “stressed” working with the M:I star because of the secrets they had to keep about the movie, she also called him “generous,” and “such an inspiration.” 

Hopefully, we’ll get to see Pom Klementieff and Tom Cruise jump out of planes together. But, for now, we can look forward to them facing off in Dead Reckoning Part One, which is set to premiere on the 2023 movie schedule on July 12. 

Fantasy football can get incredibly competitive. And when the people in the league are some of the most Alpha Dog superhero actors on our planet, the level of trash talk reaches astronomical levels. You might have already seen the incredibly artistic video that Guardians of the Galaxy star Pom Klementieff recorded for Chris Hemsworth. The two are part of the AGBO Fantasy Football league run by Joe and Anthony Russo, that’s populated with all levels of Marvel stars. And while we knew that the trash-talk video had some connection to the Mission: Impossible series, Simon Pegg now has filled in the gaps. 

Pom Klementieff has joined the Mission: Impossible franchise in time for the upcoming Mission movie, Dead Reckoning, Part One. She plays a relatively silent villain, who is as lethal as she is quiet. Klementieff is equally vicious in her video aimed at Chris Hemsworth, which I’ll post below. But while speaking with Simon Pegg on behalf of Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning, Part One, the Star Trek co-star revealed HOW they managed to make the movie, and why it looks like they have the Italian destination of Venice all to themselves. Pegg told us:

The video is something special. It’s shot like a French New Wave cinematic short, with Pom Klementieff touring around Venice making fun of Chris Hemsworth. I’m assuming that she beat him head-to-head in Fantasy Football, or maybe even took the League Championship from him. That’s what allows you to say such things as:

Pom Klementieff even continued to get the last laugh, as he latest Marvel movie, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, made more at the worldwide gross ($824 million) than Chris Hemsworth’s Thor: Love and Thunder ($760 million). That might be part of the reason why Hemsworth admitted his kids and their friends make fun of Love and Thunder, and he wants to see some major changes in the character if he were to return. 

Interestingly, Hemsworth and Klementieff both have transitioned to action after Marvel. She’s in the new Mission: Impossible, and he’s continuing the Extraction series on Netflix, which apparently is doing very well, probably because Hemsworth knows the emotional characteristics of his hero that fans connect with. Maybe the next time that he’s on location in a remote city, he can retaliate against Pom. rop the hammer, so to speak.

The women of the Mission: Impossible franchise are not only action heroes, but fashion icons, as they’ve been proving this over and over again at the various premieres for the seventh M:I film Dead Reckoning Part One. While Hayley Atwell’s dress was the subject of our attention at the Rome premiere, in London I couldn’t keep my eyes off Pom Klementieff’s edgy mini-dress and Rebecca Ferguson’s gown that was literally dripping pearls.

Pom Klementieff rocked a Prada mini dress and Cartier jewels, per her Instagram, and she was looking edgy and stunning. The outfit matched the rest of the cast’s black fits, however, her ensemble felt a little extra punk rock, check it out:

I say punk rock because the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 star was rocking a pixie cut that was giving Y2K edge with her mini dress that featured an open back and a gorgeous bow detail. To top it all off, she had a fab smoky eye and some epic silver sparkly heels. 

Of all the black looks for worn during the M:I 7 London premiere, Klementieff’s was a real highlight. However, it was Rebecca Ferguson’s white gown that had my jaw on the floor.

Rebecca Ferguson, unlike the rest of the Mission: Impossible 7 cast, didn’t wear a dark color, but opted for an opulent white look instead. According to Red Carpet Fashion News, the Dune star rocked a Vivienne Westwood Spring 2023 gown from their bridal collection, and I’m obsessed. Check it out:

This look is everything. It feels like one of those gorgeous dresses you see on marble statues in Athens or Rome, and the pearls draped around her chest and falling off her shoulders make the entire ensemble so regal. Complimenting the outfit, Ferguson’s hair was slicked back, with a few wispy pieces, which fit perfectly with the pearls that were flowing through her look. 

I know Dune: Part Two is slated for later on the 2023 movie schedule, but this outfit kind of reminded me of the intricate outfits draped on Lady Jessica at the beginning of the first sci-fi movie. However, we’re not here to talk about Dune, we’re here to talk about Mission: Impossible. 

Honestly, The Whole Mission: Impossible 7 Cast Was Dressed To Impress

Overall, the entire Mission: Impossible cast was looking classy for Dead Reckoning’s London premiere. Check them out: 

Along with Pom Klementieff and Rebecca Ferguson, Hayley Atwell also looked stunning in a balloon-like black dress. As for the men, they were all wearing wonderful suits, but Simon Pegg had my favorite fit out of the group with his suit that featured pink flower details. 

While we’ve seen Hayley Atwell and Tom Crusie photographed on the red carpet, it was so nice to see the entire ensemble together, and looking fantastic. Although, the real highlights of the night were Pom Klementieff’s mini dress, and Rebeca Ferguson’s pearly (literally) white gown.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 certainly lived up to the hype, and it looks like a number of people really enjoyed the final installment in the trilogy. However, what fans also seem to be living for are the interactions between the actors amid the press tour. Karen Gillan and Pom Klementieff have easily been two of the most delightful personalities when it comes to interviews. They two have amazing chemistry and both seem to love the characters they play in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That passion is arguably what prompted them to pitch a romantic comedy featuring Peter Quill and Nebula – and I need that to happen now.

It’s no secret that fans would love to see Nebula and Quill hook up. Heck, even James Gunn is aware of the highly popular ship, which one might call “Quebula.” Karen Gillan even theorized that her fan-favorite character has a crush on Star-Lord but can’t quite articulate her thoughts on the matter. The Scottish actress took that hypothesis a step further while she and Pom Klementieff sat down with Screen Rant. Gillan would apparently love to see a rom-com centered around the two characters and knows which classic movie it should take inspiration from. And if that weren’t delightful enough, Klementieff wants Mantis (who’s also been the subject of romantic fan fiction) to pop in as well:

Karen Gillan: I actually really could see a His Girl Friday [for them]. Quippy back-and-forth, witty banter and bickering.
Pom Klementieff: Are you pitching a rom-com? That'd be so fun. Can I be in it too?
KG: Sure, yeah, come on in.
PM: Will you be mean to me again?
KG: Not the rom-com. New rules!

Are you taking notes, Kevin Feige? Because this could be a lot of fun, if I’m being honest. Marvel Studios’ has utilized elements from rom-coms in some of its past movies, with Thor: Love and Thunder being the most prominent example. Just imagine Peter Quill and Nebula realizing their feelings for each other in a breezy, romantic romp set to the backdrop of space. If the two actresses get their way with this one, they apparently want all of the traditional rom-com trappings as well. Pom Klementieff, for her part, knows what season the movie should take place in, and she wants Mantis to be dressed appropriately:

From there, she asked Karen Gillan if she had an ideal choice of attire for Nebula, and the Doctor Who alum responded with a sweet suggestion. She also devised a scenario that could serve as a lovely meet-cute for Neb and Quill: 

If there’s any character who deserves more time to shine in the MCU, it’s Karen Gillan’s Neb. She’s easily one of the most complex individuals in the entire franchise and, quite frankly, some of you have been sleeping on this daughter of Thanos for years. After what she’s been through, she deserves a healthy romance, whether it be with Quill or someone else. The chances of her getting a rom-com at this point are slim, but it still doesn’t hurt for us to manifest the idea alongside Gillan and Pom Klementieff.

In 2017, four years after she made her Hollywood debut in the Oldboy remake, Pom Klementieff appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 as Mantis, who’s been an integral member of the team since then, and fans have clearly taken to her, as evidenced by the graphic Bugborg fan fiction. We reunited with Mantis, her brother Peter Quill and the rest of these heroes earlier this month in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and just like in her previous MCU appearances, Klementieff’s character wasn’t lacking in funny moments. In fact, the actress has been hilariously tormenting writer/director James Gunn with one of Mantis’ lines from the 2023 new movie release. 

There’s a moment in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 where Peter is pouring his heart out to the time-displaced Gamora over what he believes is a secure communication line in their space suits. As it turns out, Peter was actually using the open line, allowing Mantis, Drax and Nebula to hear everything that was said, prompting the former two to explain which buttons on their space suits corresponded to which lines. In her own moment of confusion, Mantis pressed one of the buttons and obnoxiously exclaimed “HELLO!” into everyone’s ears, and Klementieff continues to say that word with that same delivery to James Gunn as often as possible. The actress shared this with CinemaBlend during the Vol. 3 junket, as you’ll see below.

Klementieff could have kept “HELLO!” as a running gag during the filming of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and then let it die once production wrapped, but nope, she continues to keep it going with Gunn, whether it’s through voice notes she leaves him or continued conversations with the filmmaker. If Klementieff ends up being one of the Guardians actors who Gunn brings back for Superman: Legacy, I’m betting that she’ll continue to drop that line as she’s working on the upcoming DC movie. Warning: SPOILERS for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 are ahead!

We’ve known for years that the third Guardians of the Galaxy movie would be the last time we see this incarnation of the team together, but fortunately, none of the members died. Instead, Vol. 3’s ending saw them going their separate ways, with Mantis deciding to go on a journey of self-discovery with the Abilisks that were freed from The High Evolutionary’s clutches. Although Vol. 3’s end-credits scene promised that Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord would return to the MCU, it’s unclear if Mantis will also pop back up at any point. Given her familial bond with Peter though, I’d like to think they’ll reunite someday… and when they’re face to face again, she can greet him with a hearty “HELLO!”

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is still playing in theaters, and if you’d like to revisit the team’s past adventures, they can be streamed with a Disney+ subscription. Sometimes spilling a cup of coffee isn’t just spilling a cup of coffee. Under the right circumstances, an occurrence such as that can trigger a surprise reaction. And the press tour for the new Marvel movie Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 saw just that type of situation occur. What began as Chris Pratt accidentally wrecking Pom Kelmentieff’s designer purse turned into a bittersweet moment acknowledging the end of an emotional journey.

During Marvel’s press blitz for the latest Guardians of the Galaxy adventure, a press conference, moderated by co-star Nathan Fillion, featured a lot of interesting facts about James Gunn’s three-quel. CinemaBlend was on hand for this talk, and there weren't simply stories about how certain actors were cast or how awesome it was to walk in slow motion to the Beastie Boys on set. There was actually a particularly emotional tale, which was shared by none other than Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. 

Excited to have the chance to tell this story, the super producer set up the fact that Chris Pratt placed his cup of coffee down before a group of the Vol. 3 stars took off on a flight. There were cup holders present, and Kevin Feige dropped in a friendly dig about how “Chris is a clumsy oaf.” So you know where that coffee is going once the plane takes off. That ultimately led to the following story that Feige shared during the press conference: 

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’s first trailer had already set up enough of a potential tear fest for those who watch the movie. After you read this Pom Klementieff anecdote though, all return viewings just might have a slightly heightened emotional impact. This is especially true when taking into account how things end for each of the Guardians, which is a rainbow of feelings in itself. 

Pom Klementieff’s part of the story is just as bittersweetly funny. As she further explained the feelings running through her in the moment, the actor shared an idea for how to deal with those emotions. Unfortunately, as you’re about to read, the Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One star couldn’t run and hide as she wanted, for one specific reason:

These are definitely the types of moments that a family like the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 cast would share. Even in the face of great sadness and the parting of  ways, there’s room for humorous stories to add the sweetness to the bitter. And while the concern over Pom Klementieff’s “very expensive and very unique” purse faded into the emotional background, one can hope that she was able to find a happy ending by having that bag properly tended to after this caffeinated calamity.

Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One is one of those rare movies that has had to sustain a longer than usual cycle of hype. Writer/director Christopher McQuarrie can now claim victory, as he’s officially landed the film in the can, with cast members Simon Pegg and Pom Klementieff being a couple of the folks congratulating him on this success.

The Celebration Of Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One Wrapping Production

Showing a cryptic photo of a scene being filmed for Dead Reckoning Part One, the steward of the franchise who’s been on board since doing his uncredited rewrites on Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol included a thankful and inspirational message with this black and white snapshot. Considering CinemaBlend’s own Eric Eisenberg had an amazing reaction to Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One's CinemaCon footage, the thanks that Christopher McQuarrie has landed is pretty warranted. In their contributions to the digital festivities, stars Simon Pegg and Pom Klementieff both threw in some celebratory emojis thanking their fearless captain. 

While Pegg chose a heart and fire combo, Klementieff went with a handful of party confetti poppers to signal her approval. They are not the only members of this latest Mission: Impossible production that had something to say, however. Beloved actor and mysterious new presence Cary Elwes was also on hand to tip his hat to the man who hatched this two-part adventure, which could be the end to Tom Cruise’s run as Ethan Hunt. 

There’s also a question as to whether or not we should expect Elwes in 2024’s Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part Two, as he sounds like he’s bidding farewell with a message such as this:

It wasn’t just current collaborators from the TomCruise/Christopher McQuarrie family who chimed in, as Top Gun: Maverick star Danny Ramirez expressed his own excitement for Mission: Impossible 7’s impending release. Here’s his contribution to the party line that formed in the comments: 

It’s hard for the world not to be excited to see Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One getting this close to the finish line. Just look at how some fans have been hoping for a new Mission: Impossible trailer, a sentiment that wound up being exhibited in the comments section of Christopher McQuarrie’s latest missive. Those feelings didn’t arrive overnight, as the history of this latest mission seemed to make its completion look rather improbable at times. 

Why Mission: Impossible 7’s Completion Is Such A Big Deal 

After shooting for a little over three years, and with a release date landing almost two years after it was initially scheduled, Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One is one of the latest reminders of how the pandemic affected the world of the movies. That’s just the short, short version of why Paramount’s legacy espionage franchise became even more expensive to produce this time out – something that became apparent almost as soon as production began in February 2020. 

Several stops and starts befell this supposed beginning of the end, which saw costs only rise due to added safety precautions, COVID-related delays, and a whole bunch of moving pieces being shifted around. Predictably pushing the release date for Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part Two into a June 2024 time frame, what was supposed to be a back to back filming schedule saw promotion for Top Gun: Maverick putting an end to that notion. 

With the first Dead Reckoning trailer offering more questions than answers, the wait between installments might be more intensely felt than the wait for this first piece of the puzzle. We'll see how this all pans out soon enough, as Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One raises the curtain on July 12, with Part Two lighting its fuse on June 28, 2024.

Marvel fans surely know Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to open in a little less than two weeks, which means it’s almost time for us to take our last ride with the band of cosmic A-holes. The upcoming Marvel movie is easily one of the most highly anticipated entries on the schedule of 2023 new movie releases, and expectations appear to be high. As franchise devotees await opening day, though, the cast and crew – including Zoe Saldaña, Chris Pratt and James Gunn – have reunited for the press tour. And in the process of doing so, they arrived in style and posed for a sweet “money shot” among other things. 

The fun group met up in Paris this weekend, where they took part in interviews and participated in an early screening for fans. Zoe Saldaña, who’s typically quite active on social media, captured much of the festivities via her Instagram stories. Amid the slew of fun posts she shared was one that saw her reunite with co-star and on-screen lover, Chris Pratt. The Star-Lord actor re-shared her post, and you can see it down below:

The Avatar actor later got all gussied up and made her way to Disneyland Paris alongside her longtime colleagues. It was there that she and the gang made a grand entrance before the fans. Smoke filled the air, as she, Chris Pratt, James Gunn and co. arrived at Avengers Campus, and it was pretty sweet. Take a look:

Talk about looking fresh and making a grand entrance. Of course, it should come as no surprise that the group also took some pictures. Zoe Saldaña shared one particular post that sees her, Pom Klementieff and James Gunn striking a pose for a “money shot.” See how sleek the trio looks in the following post: 

Those moments were cool enough to see, but I think it may have been Vin Diesel’s Instagram post that truly puts a stamp on the wonderful occasion. The Fast & Furious star shared a video featuring Karen Gillan, Chris Pratt and more of the cast. He also appropriately captioned the post, “We are Groot!”: 

This is all incredibly bittersweet when you remember that this is the end of trilogy James Gunn and Marvel Studios launched back in 2014. So this could very well be the very last time we see this very group come together for a premiere. While that may seem like a sad prospect, it may be best not to dwell on that. Instead, soak up the moment as the cast seems to be doing. 

After Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’s first screening, people are talking, and they’re heaping serious praise on the trilogy capper. With James Gunn’s previous work in mind, I don’t find it all that surprising that he sought to pack so much into this latest feature. I’m surely looking forward to seeing it but, in the meantime, I’m eager for more sweet moments amongst the stars during their press tour.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a massive place full of franchise, but Guardians of the Galaxy stands out as a fan favorite. As such, the upcoming threequel is one of the most hotly anticipated upcoming Marvel movies heading to theaters. The trailer teased just how much heart and emotion will be in Vol. 3, and fans are worried about how many characters might die in the process. But is Guardians 3 going to end the team’s story forever? Here’s the latest from Mantis actress Pom Klementieff.

Mantis debuted back in Guardians Vol. 2, before appearing in Avengers: Infinity War, Endgame, and Thor: Love and Thunder. But Pom Klementieff really got to step into the spotlight with her character for the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, which revealed she’s actually Star-Lord’s half sister. It seems like Vol. 3 will be the final chapter in the current team’s story, but does that mean we’ll have to say goodbye to all of the beloved characters forever? Klementieff addressed the post-Guardians 3 world while appearing on the D23 podcast, saying:

I’m so excited, I’m so scared. Indeed, this mixture of hype and dread has been shown on the social media response to the Guardians 3 trailer. The limited footage teased major heart breaks, and Marvel fans are worried about which character(s) will fall during James Gunn’s long-awaited blockbuster. It’s going to be a long few months until Vol. 3 is released.

Pom Klementieff’s comments come as Marvel fans were just treated to a variety of thrilling Guardians of the Galaxy updates. As previously mentioned, the holiday special hit Disney+ at the start of the month, and has been universally acclaimed. A ton of love has especially come Klementieff’s way, as Mantis finally got her time to shine in the MCU. Marvel’s marketing followed this up by the quick release of Guardians 3’s trailer, which definitely teased the emotional stakes of the upcoming blockbuster.

Ever since Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 began its filming process, we’ve been about how emotional it was to bring the project together. Nebula actress Karen Gillan admitted to crying while reading the script, and that’s before having to bring it to life on set. And given James Gunn’s new leadership role at DC, it certainly feels like his goodbye to the MCU (for now). 

As a reminder, you can check out the thrilling first trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 below. The story looks like it’s going to be epic, although perhaps the most talked about footage shows both Star-Lord and Mantis weeping. 

This trailer for Guardians 3 also featured more intriguing elements like footage of Baby Rocket, as well as the confirmation of his comic book love interest Lylla. Additionally, we got to see the debut of Will Poulter as Adam Warlock. And smart money says countless theories and rumors will surround the project until its release next summer.

2023 is going to be a big year for actress Pom Klementieff as she is set to appear, not only in Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3, as Mantis, but in Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning - Part 1, alongside Tom Cruise. The long delayed production of the new Mission: Impossible films has made us wait for this one for quite some time, but it promises to be something special. The actress has nothing but good things to say about working with Cruise, though she admits she found even being cast in the new film as stressful even though she was so excited to become part of the franchise,

When Pom Klementieff was originally told she would be, not just the first part, but both of the next two Mission: Impossible films, she says she was, of course, happy to get the job, but she tells Collider she also felt stressed due to the fact that, at first, she wasn’t able to tell anybody that she was in the movies. Once she was on the set, however, she found Tom Cruise to be inspirational. She explained… 

We know that Tom Cruise puts himself out there on the set of his movies. He does all his own stunts and is always willing to try anything that the movie requires. The Mission: Impossible movies have become a stage for massive practical stunts. It's not that big a shock that she found Cruise and his work ethic to be inspirational while on the set of Dead Reckoning - Part One.

At this point we don’t know much of anything about Pom Klementieff’s role in the new Mission: Impossible films but the trailer for Dead Reckoning: Part One has shown Klementieff kicking some serious ass, so it appears Tom Cruise wasn’t the only one throwing himself into the action for this one. Although, the fact that the trailer doesn't show Klementieff's character alongside Ethan Hunt and his team, indicates she may be one of the film's antagonists. 

Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning - Part One is still more than a year away, and Part Two is in production as we speak. Together, the films are expected to put a cap on Tom Cruise’s time in the franchise, though it’s always possible that the stars won’t be able to stay away.

The Marvel Special Presentations that are available to people with a Disney+ subscription are allowing the MCU to expand on corners of its world while also filling in gaps of Marvel mythology. The shorts featured in I Am Groot show the tree creature growing up and dealing with various issues. Michael Giacchino’s Werewolf By Night recreated the 1940s Creature Feature while also introducing Man-Thing and opening the door to monsters in the MCU. And now, in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, creator James Gunn is revealing a secret he has had Pom Klementieff sitting on since the moment she accepted the role of Mantis. 

There has been speculation in the MCU community that Mantis might be the sister of Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), because their shared “father,” Ego the Living Planet (Kurt Russell) had children with women all over the galaxy in hopes of finding an heir that could access the Celestial power the way that Star-Lord could. At one point, when Ego was laying out his plans, there was a mural of all of the women that Ego had impregnated. And fans noticed that one of them definitely looked like Mantis. 

Now, as part of the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, Mantis (Pom Klementieff) is letting the cat out of the bag, confessing to Peter (Chris Pratt) that they are brother and sister as the special draws to a close. So when we spoke with Klementieff as part of a recent press day, I asked her how long she knew this secret. As it turns out, she’s known since day one. She said:

This was kept out of the trailer for the Guardians Holiday Special, but is bound to start making the rounds once the MCU Special Presentation drops on Disney+. The focus up to this point has been on the inclusion of Kevin Bacon, and rightfully so. The Footloose star has been a childhood hero of Peter Quill, so making him an official character in the MCU is brilliant. But he’s not the only major reveal waiting for fans in the upcoming holiday special, so make sure you watch it, if you happened to read this far and haven’t yet checked it out on Disney+.

The Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 Release Date Is Set For May 2023

For the longest time, and for reasons that will be explored more in depth below, the release date for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 remained a mystery. Originally the movie was going to be one of the first films released as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase 4, but behind-the-scenes chaos threw that plan out of whack. Then the COVID-19 pandemic changed things even further. For years, fans were fully aware that the movie was being made, but had no idea when to actually expect it. 

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is no longer in Phase 4 as originally planned, and instead it will be second movie released in Phase 5. With its May 5, 2023 release date, it follows the release of Peyton Reed's Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania and will be out in advance of Nia DaCosta's The Marvels (which arrives in November 2023). Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 Has Released Multiple Trailers

In December 2022, following its premiere at CCXP a.k.a. Brazil Comic Con, the first ever trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 arrived online, and it was followed by a brand new preview that aired during the 2023 Super Bowl. Both have a wonderful mix of both heavy emotions and comedy that suggest that Marvel fans will be going on quite a ride with James Gunn's conclusion to the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy.

In addition to featuring the movie's many familiar faces, the footage we've seen has provided us with looks at Chukwudi Iwuji as The High Evolutionary and Will Poulter as Adam Warlock (characters that we'll highlight later in this feature).

What Is The Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 Rating?

In 2016, Tim Miller’s Deadpool changed the comic book movie world forever. While it had once been thought that superhero features couldn’t be successful without attracting teenage audiences, the Merc With The Mouth put that theory to rest by making a stunning $783.1 million worldwide with an epic number of swear words, a touch of nudity, and quite a bit of ultra-violence. We’ve seen a few more success stories since then as well, including David Leitch's Deadpool 2, James Mangold's Logan, and Todd Phillips' Joker, but Marvel Studios has not yet made the plunge when it comes to R-rated blockbusters. That may be something we see happen soon (specifically with Shawn Levy's Deadpool 3), but it is safe to say that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be certified with a PG-13.

The Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 Writer/Director

This one is a bit of a journey, so strap in.

To the surprise of very, very few, James Gunn announced in early 2017 that he had made a deal with Marvel Studios to take the helm of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 – confirming that the movie would “conclude the story of this iteration of the Guardians of the Galaxy.” He wrote the script himself, and wheels were clearly in motion to make the blockbuster one of the earliest films released as a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Four.

But then everything changed. In the days surrounding San Diego Comic-Con 2018, James Gunn found himself at the center of some controversy due to some nearly decade-old Tweets that had been dug up by a Twitter user who took issue with the filmmaker's political stances. The social media messages, which featured extremely distasteful jokes about horrendous subjects, put the family-friendly Walt Disney Company in an awkward situation, and they made the decision to remove Gunn as the director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in response.

Of course, that was only the start of the controversy. In the following days, weeks, and months, it wasn’t only fans who voiced thunderous support for James Gunn (with over 400,000 signing a petition for his reinstatement), but also many of his colleagues. The members of the Guardians of the Galaxy cast – including Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Sean Gunn, Pom Klementieff and Michael Rooker – all signed an open letter requesting that Gunn get his job back, and many fellow directors made their voices heard on the subject as well. When names like Edgar Wright, Taika Waititi, Chris Lord and Phil Miller were proposed as possible replacements at the helm of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the filmmakers let it be known that they stood behind Gunn and had no interest in taking the job.

For more than half a year it was unclear how exactly Marvel Studios would be able to move forward with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but the situation was resolved in mid-March 2019. Following the release of Captain Marvel, the news was made official that a new deal had been made with James Gunn that would see him reinstated as the director of the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy capper. This coincided with a few changes for the project in terms of scheduling, as Gunn had spent his months being fired working out a deal with Warner Bros. to both write and direct The Suicide Squad. Now the blockbuster sequel is back on track. 

Gunn's work with DC will continue now that he has been named the co-CEO of DC Studios, which likely means that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will likely be his last Marvel Cinematic Universe project. Obviously there are high hopes that he will end his run with the franchise on a phenomenal note. 

The Characters And Cast Of Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3

Unlike most Marvel Cinematic Universe series, the Guardians of the Galaxy movies don't just center on one single hero, but instead an entire family of heroes who have been through hell and back together. The whole core team has confirmed to be back in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, along with some brand new faces.

Star-Lord (Chris Pratt)

The role of Peter Quill a.k.a. Star-Lord completely changed Chris Pratt’s career overnight. One minute he was the goofy, lovable idiot on Parks and Recreation, and the next he was one of the biggest movie stars in the world. He is now known in pop culture as one of the “Chrises” (along with Evans, Hemsworth, and Pine), and he will be bringing all of that star power back to reprising his role as Peter Quill in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

We don't really know what to expect from Peter's arc in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but one issue that certainly comes to mind is the fact that the woman he loves barely knows who he is and split after the battle against Thanos. Of course, I'm referring to...

Gamora (Zoe Saldaña)

Time for a hard truth: Gamora as we knew her in Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is dead. In his quest to retrieve the Soul Stone, Thanos made a sacrifice and threw her over a cliff. It was incredibly sad to see play out in Avengers: Infinity War... and then Avengers: Endgame added a whole special twist on top of everything. In the wake of the massive Infinity War capstone blockbuster, Gamora again exists in the present timeline of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but she is a time-displaced version from 2014 who didn't spend half a decade bonding with her teammates and falling in love with Peter Quill.

So what will Gamora be up to in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3? Footage that was shown at San Diego Comic-Con 2022 first showed that she has teamed up with Peter Quill's old crew, the Ravagers. What's unclear is exactly how she joined that group or where she will be going next – including how she ends up reuniting with the titular team.

Drax The Destroyer (Dave Bautista)

During the whole “James Gunn getting fired” saga, nobody stood up for the writer/director the way that Dave Bautista did. Clearly recognizing and fully acknowledging how Gunn very much changed his career by casting him as Drax, Bautista was extremely vocal about how incredibly pissed off the whole situation made him. Even though it could have potentially hurt his career, he wasn’t at all shy about his fury aimed towards Disney, and he even suggested that he would request a release from his contract with the studio if Gunn’s script for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 wasn’t used.

With James Gunn has been rehired, Dave Bautista has fully committed to returning as Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3... but it sounds like it will be the character's final appearance. The actor has confirmed that the upcoming sequel will be the end of his journey playing the part. Obviously that could change, but it's doubtful after a January 2023 interview during which Bautista noted that he doesn't want the character to be the biggest part of his legacy as an actor. For now, we're hoping that the film will be partially a lovely send off for the loveable alien.

Rocket (Bradley Cooper)

Don't you fret: the rodent with the most acerbic wit in the universe will be back in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Rocket, voiced by Bradley Cooper in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has experienced a life of real hardship, and it turned him into a real mean sonofabitch, but in the wake of Thanos' snap he really came through to try and help the world. Now he is finally back together with his family, and his latest story is going to change how we look at him. 

James Gunn has said many times that Rocket is his favorite character among the Guardians, and the one he most relates to, and the movie is partially be about his origins and how he came to be the smart, scarred creature that he is.

Groot (Vin Diesel)

Of all the characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, weirdly it’s Groot who has the hardest time staying alive. The original version of the living tree sacrificed himself so that the Guardians of the Galaxy could live through their first movie, and while Baby Groot managed to survive Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the slightly older version of himself – Adolescent Groot – was among the characters turned to dust in Avengers: Infinity War. Rather than needing to regrow, however, Hulk's snap with the Nano Gauntlet brought Groot back to life in Avengers: Endgame, and we'll see him hit another growth stage in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. 

The SDCC 2022 Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 footage was first to preview the character's bulkier, more mature look in the sequel, and we've since seen him in both the trailer and the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. We'll have to wait and learn if that is a natural evolution or a result of him spending extra time at the gym. 

Nebula (Karen Gillan)

Nebula, played by Karen Gillan, has had a very different trajectory than most in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She started out as a rage-filled antagonist – an ally of Thanos and possessing a true hatred for her sister, Gamora – but her edges definitely softened through the events of both Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Avengers: Infinity War. That arc was taken many steps further in Avengers: Endgame, where she had opportunity to bond with Tony Stark and the other Avengers, and now it seems she is definitely on the side of the good guys. 

Nebula remained on Earth for Tony Stark's funeral and she was with Star-Lord, Drax, Groot, and Rocket when the Guardians departed the planet with Thor on-board. Whatever she gets up to in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, we're hopeful that she does get the chance to reconnect with her adopted sister and that they can spend significant time fighting side by side for the same cause.

Mantis (Pom Klementieff)

Brought to the big screen by Pom Klementieff, Mantis became a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy when the team saved her from Ego in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 – and her special extraterrestrial skills have been put to good use. She is not only a powerful empath, but also available to put others in a highly suggestive state with just a touch (as evidenced by her time messing with Kevin Bacon's brain in the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special). 

Speaking of that Disney+ exclusive, the special also reveals that she is Peter Quill's half sister, as Ego was secretly her father. One imagines that we will get to see her have a closer bond with Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 as a result, but that has not been confirmed.

Kraglin (Sean Gunn)

While Sean Gunn's Kraglin doesn't get a big moment in the first trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, he is most definitely back as part of the team in the new movie, equipped with Yondu's fin and yaka arrow (as first previewed in the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special). We don't know what we can expect from him as far as an individual arc goes, but hopefully his writer/director brother provides him with something special.

In addition to playing Kraglin, Sean Gunn pulls double duty on the Guardians of the Galaxy sets, as he does all of the performance capture work for Rocket. That has been the case during the character's entire run in the MCU thus far, and he has once again played that role in the making of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

The High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji)

In addition to featuring all of the returning characters that you love, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will also be introducing plenty of new face – including a fresh and exciting antagonist. The talent of Chukwudi Iwuji clearly left an impression on James Gunn when the two men had the opportunity to work together on HBO Max's Peacemaker, and it led the actor to being cast as The High Evolutionary in Gunn's next MCU entry.

Not much is known about how The High Evolutionary will factor into the plot of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but the footage in the trailer certainly suggests that part of his history within the MCU canon involves the torture and creation of Rocket as we know him. He is a cruel and terrible being in the pages of Marvel Comics, and greatness is expected on the big screen. 

Adam Warlock (Will Poulter)

The arrival of Adam Warlock into the Marvel Cinematic Universe was first teased all the way back in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (which is even longer ago from the point of view of the Marvel timeline), but finally he is almost here. The universe's most perfect being will be making his big screen debut with a key role to play in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and he will be played by The Maze Runner and Dopesick star Will Poulter.

The casting announcement for the James Gunn movie was made in October 2021, and it will mark the first time that Poulter has starred in a superhero blockbuster. 

Cosmo The Spacedog (Maria Bakalova)

Technically Cosmo The Spacedog doesn't count as a "fresh face" in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, as it's technically a character that we previously met in the original Guardians of the Galaxy, but one special thing that the upcoming sequel is bringing to the table is a fresh voice. Cosmo is actually going to talk and not just growl in Vol. 3, and Maria Bakalova was announced in the role during the Marvel Studios panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2022.

Maria Bakalova became an overnight star in 2020 thanks to her brilliant, scene-stealing performance Jason Woliner's Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, and she's followed that film up making movies including Judd Apatow's The Bubble and Halina Reijn's Bodies Bodies Bodies. 

Stakar Ogord (Sylvester Stallone)

Audiences first met Sylvester Stallone's Stakar Ogord in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 – the character's appearance being a nod to the original Guardians of the Galaxy lineup in the pages of Marvel Comics. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he is a key member of the group of space pirates known as the Ravagers, and he'll be back in action in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Stallone and James Gunn recently collaborated in the making of The Suicide Squad (the former provides the voice for King Shark), and the two men had a good bit of fun on set – the director even managing to trick the actor into doing some dirty improv lines. 

The Guardians Of The Galaxy Holiday Special

The Guardians Of The Galaxy Holiday Special was shot on the set of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and it was released on November 25, 2022. It's a streaming exclusive that you can only watch with a Disney+ subscription, and it's definitely a primer for the upcoming blockbuster. In addition to revealing that Star-Lord and Mantis are siblings, it's also revealed that the team purchased Knowhere from Taneleer Tivan a.k.a. The Collector and they are running the place.

There is a very exciting future ahead for the Mission: Impossible franchise. While fans are used to seeing a new installment from the blockbuster series every few years, writer/director Christopher McQuarrie has been cooking up an extreme treat for the next two chapters and has been filming them back-to-back. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1 is set to blow our minds in the year 2023, and the direct sequel, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 2, will be coming out about 12 months later. Obviously there are a lot of reasons to be excited about the big sequel that is Mission: Impossible 8, and one of them is the fantastic ensemble cast that has been put together.

Featuring a mix of actors who both are and aren’t in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 2 has brought together a terrific group of stars, and we’ve assembled the list of confirmed names below for your perusal.

Tom Cruise

What, did you expect that Ethan Hunt would die in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1? While we don’t know the details of the plot of Mission: Impossible 7, we do know that the lead character will survive and be back for the sequel. Ving Rhames

While Ving Rhames’ Luther Stickell only showed up for a cameo at the end of Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, his prominent role in the franchise has been stable ever since – with key roles to play in Rogue Nation and Fallout. We don’t know what he’ll be getting up to in Dead Reckoning – Part 1, but we do know that Luther will be by Ethan Hunt’s side in the aftermath that is depicted in Part 2.

Henry Czerny

Mission: Impossible fans haven’t seen Eugene Kittridge since Brian De Palma’s franchise starter back in 1996, but he’s back in a big way now, set to play a key role in both halves of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning. Henry Czerny is back in the role decades after his original appearance. Since the first film in the Tom Cruise-led series, Czerny has been a part of some notable and popular movies, with two standouts being a part of the horror genre: Scott Derrickson’s The Exorcism of Emily Rose and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett’s Ready Or Not. He is also part of the cast of Scream 6.

Simon Pegg

Having not been in the first two Mission: Impossible movies, Simon Pegg’s history with the franchise doesn’t go back quite as far as Tom Cruise’s and Ving Rhames’, but he has left a major impact on the films and has made Benji Dunn a fan favorite character. The mask loving tech wiz has been a part of Ethan Hunt’s adventures since Mission: Impossible III, and he will be back by the super spy’s side for both halves of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning.

Rebecca Ferguson

It used to be the case that the Mission: Impossible movies would rotate out its female leads – with Emmanuelle Béart, Thandiwe Newton, Maggie Q, and Paula Patton each only appearing in one movie, despite their characters surviving the blockbuster action. Rebecca Ferguson finally ended that streak following her debut in Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation. Following her stellar introduction, MI6 operative Ilsa Faust returned in Fallout, and there is every expectation that she will be a prominent figure in everything that plays out across both halves of the Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning duology.

Vanessa Kirby

Alanna Mitsopolis a.k.a. The White Widow was introduced as a mysterious gray-area character in Mission: Impossible – Fallout – with the extra twist added that she is the daughter of Max, the arms dealer played by Vanessa Redgrave in the first movie. Vanessa Kirby, whose notable credits also include The Crown, Hobbs & Shaw, and Pieces Of A Woman, confirmed to Glamour in February 2020 that she was reprising her character in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1, and the expectation is that she will be in Part 2 as well.

Hayley Atwell

Of course, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 2’s cast isn’t wholly filled with returning stars, as there are plenty of fresh faces getting involved as well. Hayley Atwell is best known for her work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – having played Peggy Carter in the Captain America movies and starred in her own show, Agent Carter – and soon fans will get to see her as part of another big action-centric franchise. Her role in Part 2 has been confirmed by Deadline, and a post on the actor’s personal Instagram page suggests that she will be playing a character named Grace.

Esai Morales

Esai Morales is best known for his work on the small screen, with small screen credits including NYPD Blue, Criminal Minds, Ozark, and Chicago P.D., NCIS: Los Angeles, and Titans, but he’s getting some blockbuster experience on his resume as a part of both Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning movies. The role he is playing in the blockbusters originally belonged to Nicholas Hoult, but scheduling conflicts forced the Mad Max: Fury Road star to drop out of the project in May 2020, leading to Morales nabbing the role.

Shea Whigham

Shea Whigham has spent years establishing himself as one of the best characters actors in the business, and doing so has led him to be a part of some major franchises. He’s been a part of Fast & Furious, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Star Trek, and the MonsterVerse, and now he is a member of the Mission: Impossible family. The actor confirmed to Digital Spy in May 2022 that he is in both halves of Dead Reckoning, and that his character is “trying to track” Ethan Hunt.

Holt McCallany

While all of the actors mentioned above are going to in both parts of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, Holt McCallany’s situation is a bit different due to the fact that he is exclusively in the second movie. His casting was reported in July 2022, and it’s been said that the Mindhunter star will be playing a part in a high government position. Specifically he will be playing the United States’ Secretary of Defense (a man named Bernstein).

Nick Offerman

Audiences primarily know Nick Offerman for his work in comedy – particularly for playing Ron Swanson on the hit NBC series Parks & Recreation – but he will be making a switch over to drama for the action/adventure that is featured in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 2. The actor’s part in the blockbuster was confirmed by Christopher McQuarrie on an episode of the Light The Fuse podcast in August.

Pom Klementieff

Based on what we’ve seen from Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1, Pom Klementieff is going to be playing a forced to be reckoned with in the film, and apparently the threat that she represents isn’t going to be limited to the action that transpires in that single movie. While the actor is also a part of the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (in which she is reprising her MCU role as Mantis), it has additionally been confirmed that she will be in the ensembles of both halves of Dead Reckoning.

Mark Gatiss

Mark Gatiss is another actor who is set to appear in both parts of Mission: Impossible’s developing epic. Gatiss’ role in Dead Reckoning Part 1 was announced at the same time that Rob Delaney, Charles Parnell, Indira Varma, and Cary Elwes joined the cast, but he is one of only two names in that group who is also going to be in Part 2. He said as much in an interview with Radio Times in September 2022, saying that shooting the blockbusters back-to-back is an “extraordinary experience.”

Charles Parnell

Charles Parnell is the other actor from the aforementioned group that will be in both Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1 and Part 2. The character actor recently worked alongside Tom Cruise in Top Gun: Maverick, and it’s not hard to believe that the experience led to Parnell being cast in the upcoming Mission: Impossible movies. Janet McTeer

Janet McTeer’s casting in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 2 at the same time as Nick Offerman’s, though it is unknown at this time what kind of role she will have in the blockbuster sequel. Like some of her co-stars, McTeer is best known for her work on the small screen, with credits on shows including Damages, Jessica Jones, and Ozark.

With all of these talented stars aboard, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 2 will arrive in theaters a little less than a year after its predecessor – specifically on June 28, 2024. When writer/director James Gunn took to the San Diego Comic-Con’s Hall H to present his latest Marvel movie, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, he recalled that it was a decade today that he pitched the first film to Marvel. As the logo for the third movie shined on the projection screens, he told the crowd: “This is the end of that story.” Then the attendees of SDCC got to see the first trailer of the upcoming Marvel movie. 

Y’all, it’s an emotional one. Between the first footage breaking down Star-Lord and Gamora’s lost romance, a tease of Rocket Raccoon’s origin story, it was enough to get the crowd teary eyed – though, at least there was some funny moments to break down all the tension. Shortly after the cast saw what looks to be the first trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the cast including Chris Pratt, Pom Klementieff and Sean Gunn were in tears in the realization that their journey as a bunch of (lovable) a-holes was almost over. 

The footage begins with Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill being alarmed by some ravagers before it’s revealed that his lost love, Zoe Saldana’s Gamora is now the head of the crew. Of course, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 follows the events of Avengers: Endgame, where the only Gamora left is one from the past who never became a member of the Guardians or fell in love with Star-Lord. The Gamora Peter loved was sacrificed by Thanos to get the Soul Stone in his failed mission to snap away half the universe. 

In the trailer shown to SDCC’s enthusiastic crowd, Star-Lord attempts to catch up Gamora on the past she never experienced herself and images from past movies, including their Kevin Bacon scene flashes to the audience. At the same time, we’re also presented images of a young and adorable Rocket Raccoon, in what is going to be another major focus on the film. During the panel, James Gunn called Rocket the “saddest creature in the universe” and something that’s going to be a major element of the final Guardians of the Galaxy movie, officially heading to theaters this May. 

The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 panel also showed a first look at Will Poulter’s gold-plated Warlock and the High Evolutionary, who will be played by Chukwudi Iwuji. During the SDCC panel, the actor appeared in character as the High Evolutionary and playfully insulted Hall H for being “disgusting low-life scum” and said that it inspired him to “enhance genetically” something “less reprehensible”. 

It was also announced that Maria Bakalova will be voicing the role of Cosmo the Dog, who took the stage in excitement to enter the MCU. As Sean Gunn, on-set Rocket and Kraglin said it best when he spoke during the panel as the cast got choked up about the first footage of the movie with Hall H, they “fucking care” about these Marvel characters and in this trailer, it shows. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 hits theaters on May 5, 2023. 

Phase Four of The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been a wild one so far, with fans responding to new projects on both the small and silver screens. One of the most highly anticipated of the upcoming Marvel movies is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which will end the story of the cosmic team as we know it. Actress Pom Klementieff made her MCU debut in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, playing the quirky empath Mantis. She’s since reprised her role in two Avengers movies, in addition to upcoming roles in Thor: Love and Thunder and Guardians 3. How cute is that? Pom Klementieff took the time to bake a cake to celebrate the end of filming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. And she decorated it in an appropriately adorable way, with the words “We are Groot.” This was a heartbreaking line in James Gunn’s first Marvel movie, and was said by Vin Diesel’s character before sacrificing himself to save the team of cosmic heroes. And smart money says the upcoming threequel will have plenty of tear jerking moments.

While Pom Klementieff is known for acting talents in the MCU and beyond, clearly the 35 year-old actor has other skills like baking. Aside from her upcoming roles as Mantis, she’ll be getting even more into the action genre thanks to upcoming roles in the next two Mission: Impossible movies opposite Tom Cruise. We’ll just have to wait and see what type of thrilling sequences come from those mysterious blockbusters.

Mantis is the most recent addition to the Guardians of the Galaxy team, and it should be interesting to see how the empathic superhero is utilized throughout her next appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Mantis is shown in a few shots from the first trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder, which should help satiate hardcore Guardians fans as they wait for James Gunn’s mysterious threequel. In the footage she’s rocking some new weaponry, so perhaps Pom Klementieff’s character is becoming a bigger fighter.

The stakes feel super high for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which was originally going to be one of the first installments in Phase Four. The cast has been teasing what an emotional experience filming was, and how even reading the script inspired tears. Not only will the current team’s story come to an end, but the blockbuster will also seemingly end James Gunn’s run in the MCU. 

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is currently expected to arrive in theaters on May 5th, 2023. In the meantime, check out the 2022 movie release dates to plan your next movie experience.

The wait for James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has certainly been longer than planned, and at this point fans are very much chomping at the bit in anticipation – but soon the wait will be over. Chris Pratt

Clearly Peter Quill didn’t care too much about revisiting Earth, as the character is ready to get back into the cosmos as quickly as possible in Avengers: Endgame, and Star-Lord’s story will continue in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Chris Pratt has been busy in the years since 2019, making big movies like The Tomorrow War and Jurassic World: Dominion, but he’ll soon be back playing the role that turned him into a blockbuster superstar.

Zoe Saldana

The Gamora featured in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 won’t be the same one we got to know in the previous two chapters of the trilogy, as fans will remember that one was sacrificed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. The new Gamora comes from an alternate timeline and hasn’t undergone the emotional growth we’ve witnessed, which should make an interesting acting challenge for Zoe Saldana (who has been posting behind-the-scenes shots from the set). The movie is one of many sci-fi sequels that the actor has in the works, the others being the new Avatar films and the new Star Trek that is in development.

Dave Bautista

Dave Bautista has built a rather spectacular reputation in the sci-fi genre. He broke out in a huge way playing Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy, and while continuing to make Marvel movies he has also teamed up with director Denis Villeneuve for both Blade Runner 2049 and Dune. He also currently has Dune: Part Two in the works, but we’ll see him back in the grey and red makeup for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 first.

Bradley Cooper

Watching the Guardians of the Galaxy movies and the last two Avengers films, one doesn’t really think about Bradley Cooper doing the voice of Rocket – but that’s just a testament to his impressive voice work bringing life to the character. We’ve been seeing a lot of Cooper recently with films like Nightmare Alley and Licorice Pizza, but his next feature film performance will see him back as the fan-favorite alien raccoon in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Karen Gillan

From Guardians of the Galaxy to Avengers: Endgame, Nebula has gone through one hell of an arc, and with Thanos now being dead it will be fascinating to see what he future looks like. Thankfully, we’ll get that special window into her life soon, as Karen Gillan will be reprising the role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Gillan’s latest movie, Dual, premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival, and she is a part of the ensemble in Judd Apatow’s new comedy The Bubble.

Pom Klementieff

Pom Klementieff made a stellar debut as Mantis in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and since then she has been expanding her resume with awesome films like the last two Avengers movies, Uncut Gems and the upcoming Mission: Impossible 7. Soon, though, we’ll get to see her back as the delightful empathic alien in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Vin Diesel

Between his adventures as Dom Toretto in the Fast & Furious movies, Vin Diesel has found time to go into the recording booth and say hundreds if not thousands of variations of “I am Groot,” and more of this is scheduled as the actor will be back as Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. At what stage in his development will the living tree be in when we catch up with him post-Avengers: Endgame? We have no idea, but we’re curious to find out.

Sean Gunn

As he has done on multiple Marvel movies now, Sean Gunn will be back pulling double duty in the making of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. In addition to playing Kraglin, a friend of the Guardians who now has possession of Yondu’s Yaka arrow and fin, Gunn also does all of the on-set performance capture work for Rocket. The actor recently made his debut in the DC Extended Universe, playing Calendar Man and doing the mo-cap work for Weasel in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad.

Sylvester Stallone

Like Sean Gunn, Sylvester Stallone also reteamed with James Gunn for The Suicide Squad, providing the voice for King Shark, and soon the actor and the writer/director will be collaborating again while working on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Stallone made his MCU debut in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 playing Stakar Ogord, and he will be back playing the part in the sequel – though we have no idea how his character enters into the plot.

Will Poulter

When casting began for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, surely every actor in Hollywood even remotely right for the part went out for the role of Adam Warlock, but James Gunn could only hire one star for the part, and he chose Will Poulter. The film will be the actor’s first venture into the world of superhero blockbusters, but he does have franchise experience, having been a part of the ensembles in both the Chronicles of Narnia movies and The Maze Runner trilogy.

Chukwudi Iwuji

It’s always great to know when your work is being appreciated, and Chukwudi Iwuji got that sign from James Gunn after the filmmaker had a chance to collaborate with the actor on the HBO Max series Peacemaker. Gunn’s show of gratitude? An offer to play a part in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. We don’t yet know what role Iwuji is playing in the blockbuster, as that’s a secret being kept close to the vest, but it’s a detail we’re excited to learn about.

Daniela Melchior

Daniela Melchoir broke out in a big way with her performance as Ratcatcher II in The Suicide Squad, and, as a result, it is not particularly surprising to learn that she will be reuniting with James Gunn with a role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The writer/director personally confirmed that Melchoir is part of the ensemble in June 2022, and while we don't know anything about her character yet, we do know that she won't be playing Moondragon.

Maria Bakalova

Speaking of incredibly talented actors who have broken out in a big way within the last couple of years, Maria Bakalova turned heads across the globe with her hilarious performance in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, and some of those heads belonged to Hollywood's most popular filmmakers. In 2022 she had a part in Judd Apatow's comedy The Bubble, and now she has joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a character in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. James Gunn confirmed Bakalova is in the cast in June 2022, and it's been called a key role.

Nico Santos

If Nico Santos looks familiar to you, then chances are you know him from one of two places, or perhaps both! From 2015 to 2021, he starred as Mateo Fernando Aquino Liwanag in the NBC sitcom Superstore, and in 2018, he appeared as Oliver T'sien in Crazy Rich Asians. Now Santos is jumping into blockbuster territory with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, although it hasn’t been revealed yet whether he’ll have a prominent role in the Marvel movie or will just pop his head in.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is presently scheduled to be released exactly six years after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and will be in theaters everywhere on May 5, 2023. Gillan recently described the feeling of reading the script alongside Mantis actress Pom Klementieff, saying:

Well, color me intrigued. While being careful not to actually reveal anything about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, it’s clear that James Gunn is going for the jugular with this third Marvel blockbuster. And considering the upcoming sequel is expected to end the story of the current team, the stakes couldn’t be higher.

Karen Gillan’s comments to Yahoo! are sure to thrill Marvel fans out there, and will likely inspire more than one fan theory about Guardians 3. It sounds like James Gunn is really giving each member of the ensemble the chance to take the spotlight, which should definitely be exciting for fans of both Nebula and Mantis.

Once Karen Gillan’s comments started going around, James Gunn couldn't help but join the online discourse. Gunn is known for being active on social media, and so he had an A+ response to Gillan crying alongside Pom Klementieff. He posted,

Now I’m doubly intrigued. It looks like Mantis and Nebula will have some meaty roles in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. While Karen Gillan is ready to explore her signature character now that Thanos is gone for good, Mantis’ story remains a complete mystery. Some fans are also hoping that Rocket gets a love interest, but only time will tell.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is currently expected to arrive on May 5th, 2023. In the meantime, check out the 2021 movie release dates to plan your next movie experience.

The DC Extended Universe has expanded this weekend, as James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad has officially arrived in theaters. The R-rated romp perfectly uses the Guardians of the Galaxy filmmaker’s talents, and it also features a few familiar faces from that Marvel property. And now Gunn has repealed there’s one Guardian cameo no one called out in The Suicide Squad.

James Gunn is a filmmaker known for working with the same actors over and over again. As such, Guardians of the Galaxy’s Michael Rooker and Sean Gunn both make notable appearances. But another member of the Guardians also appears, and Gunn recently expressed his shock that it didn’t come up during interviews and reviews. As he put it,

Challenge accepted, Mr. Gunn. Because with The Suicide Squad now in theaters and available for re-watch thanks to HBO Max, fans can take the time to dissect ever frame of the blockbuster. And it looks like the internet has solved this riddle and found another cameo.

James Gunn’s comments come from his recent appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, while discussing all things The Suicide Squad. And it looks like the internet has spotted the surprise cameo, coming from none other than Mantis actress Pom Klementieff. She appears as gogo dancer about midway through the movie, when Task Force X attempts to find Peter Capaldi’s Thinker at a bar.

Mind blown. It’s funny, because I did think it looked like Pom Klementieff in the scene. But since her tenure as Mantis sees the actress wearing contacts and antennae, I wasn’t quite sure. But with Gunn’s cryptic tease, it all clicked together.

Perhaps this cameo shouldn’t be all that surprising, as Pom Klementieff was photographed with the cast of The Suicide Squad as it was filming. And since James Gunn has such a penchant for cameos and featuring his previous collaborators, seeing Mantis in the DCEU makes perfect sense.

Of course, James Gunn and Pom Klementieff are about to work with each other back in the MCU for various Guardians of the Galaxy content. Because in addition to the upcoming threequel, there’s also a Holiday Special on the way. Gunn is also seemingly in talks to return to the DCEU afterward, so it’s clear that the filmmaker and his favorite co-workers are going to stay busy.x

It seems like with each passing year, there’s more actors who have an opportunity to play their part in a superhero movie. Whether it’s in the ever-expanding MCU, or a one off hit, there’s plenty of super stories (and talented actors to star in them) to go around. Melissa McCarthy’s new Thunder Force is a perfect example, giving some major actors a chance to work in the growing genre. The upcoming Netflix comedy has a stacked cast of superhero first-timers, but the funniest person on set may surprise you.

During an interview with some of Thunder Force’s stars, CinemaBlend’s Jeff McCobb asked who the funniest person on set was. Surprisingly, the cast rallied around Pom Klementieff, who comedy veteran Bobby Cannavale was delighted to work with on set. In his own words:

According to Cannavale, who plays Thunder Force villain The King, Pom Klementieff’s comedy was not only surprising but also impressive. He went on to compliment the Old Boy star’s deadpan. Comedian (and upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder star) Melissa McCarthy also commended the actresses comedic chops:

That’s pretty high praise from someone with the comedic talents of Melissa McCarthy. The Thunder Force star complemented Klementieff’s performance as Laser, one of The King’s super-powered villains. Co-star Octavia Spencer went on to also mention Klementieff’s surprisingly impressive deadpan capabilities:

While breaking character and on-set laughs are just part of working with someone as hilarious as Melissa McCarthy, Spencer noted that it was Klementieff’s portrayal of Laser that really surprised her on set. The villainous role is a major departure from Klementieff’s work as Mantis in the MCU, according to the actress:

Despite the destructive nature of Laser, it sounds like there was still plenty of room for levity. Thunder Force follows former-best-friends-turned-superhero-duo Lydia Berman (Melissa McCarthy) and Emily Stanton (Octavia Spencer) as they fight The King (Bobby Cannavale) and Laser (Pom Klementieff) to protect the city of Chicago. Based on the trailer, it looks like a hilarious take on the mega-block buster superhero flicks of the last decade.

Fortunately, fans don’t have to wait to check out Pom Klementieff’s comedic capabilities, as Thunder Force is now streaming on Netflix. The light-hearted superhero flick is a welcome sight, seeing as how a number of major superhero releases have been delayed over the past year. Hopefully Thunder Force can scratch the itch for some fans and squeeze in a few laughs to boot.

Thor is about to achieve something no other superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has done yet: lead more than three solo movies. Yes, the Avengers film series broke the traditional trilogy mold in this franchise first, but now the God of Thunder is getting to break past that same barrier with the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder, which was officially announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2019. Thor: Ragnarok’s Taika Waititi is stepping back into the director’s chair for this project, and also co-wrote the screenplay with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson.

While specific plot details concerning Thor: Love and Thunder haven’t been revealed yet, the lineup of characters who will take part in this cosmic adventure is shaping up nicely. Read on to find out who’s making up the movie’s cast.

Chris Hemsworth

This shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone. Chris Hemsworth’s been playing Thor for a decade now, and Thor: Love and Thunder will mark his eighth appearance as the God of Thunder (ninth if you count his uncredited Doctor Strange cameo). A recasting at this stage of the game would have been bizarre. When we left off with Thor at the end of Avengers: Endgame, he departed Earth with the Guardians of the Galaxy (more on them later) in search of a new adventure. It’s unclear where we’ll find him when Love and Thunder kicks off, although Taika Waititi has suggested we shouldn’t expect for Thor to still be overweight.

Tessa Thompson

Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie entered Thor’s life in Thor: Ragnarok when he crossed paths with her on Sakaar, where she was drinking her sorrows away and working as a bounty hunter. Thor persuaded her to aid him in escaping Sakaar and stopping Hela, and during Avengers: Endgame, she took part in the final battle against Thanos’ forces. Before leaving Earth at the end of Endgame, Thor appointed Valkyrie as the ruler of New Asgard, and she’ll still be carrying out her kingly duties when we reunite with her in Thor: Love and Thunder. One would imagine Valkyrie will jump into action at some point in the movie, but we’ll also follow along with her as she searches for her queen.

Natalie Portman

Jane Foster was a key character in the first two Thor movies, both as the God of Thunder’s love interest and with her astrophysics research helping peel back the layers of the MCU’s cosmic mysteries. However, when Thor: Ragnarok rolled around, we learned that she and Thor had broken up, and it was unclear if we’d ever see Jane again. Well, Natalie Portman is reprising the character for Thor: Love and Thunder, and following in her comic book counterpart’s footsteps, she’ll transform into The Mighty Thor. No information has been revealed yet about how this happens, but her powers won’t be identical to what Thor Odinson is capable of. It also hasn’t been clarified if Portman’s Jane is going cancer treatment like the Jane in the comics was when she became a superhero.

Christian Bale

Once upon a time, Christian Bale left his mark on the comic book movie landscape playing Bruce Wayne, a.k.a. Batman, in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy. Nearly a decade after his time as DC’s Caped Crusader concluded in The Dark Knight Rises, Bale is jumping over to Marvel, but he’s not playing a good guy this time around. Instead, Bale has been cast as Gorr the God Butcher, Thor: Love and Thunder’s main antagonist. In the comics, Gorr has made it his mission to eliminate all gods in the Marvel universe as revenge for not aiding his family as they suffered and put their blind trust in deities. No doubt Bale’s version of Gorr will have a similar agenda in Love and Thunder, although don’t be surprised if his backstory is slightly altered.

Jaimie Alexander

Thor: Ragnarok saw many Asgardians perish, including Odin and the Warriors Three. However, one familiar face that was absent from the proceedings was Jaimie Alexander’s Lady Sif. In real life, Alexander couldn’t appear in Ragnarok because filming conflicted with her work on the NBC series Blindspot, and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige attributed Sif’s absence to Loki banishing her while he was disguised as Odin. We also learned that Sif was among the half of the universe snapped away by Thanos, but now that she’s back among the living, the good Lady will reunite with Thor in Thor: Love and Thunder. Fingers crossed we learn what Sif post-Thor: The Dark World life has been like in the time she wasn’t dust.

Taika Waititi

In addition to his directorial duties, Thor: Ragnarok also saw Taika Waititi playing Korg, the soft-spoken Kronan who Thor met on Sakaar during his brief time as a gladiator. With Valkyrie’s assistance, Korg successfully led a rebellion against the Grandmaster, and in Avengers: Endgame, he was seen hanging out with Thor and his buddy Miek in New Asgard, as well as fighting in the movie’s climactic conflict. Waititi revealed that Thor: Love and Thunder will touch on Korg’s culture and where he’s from, but beyond that, there hasn’t been any word on how Korg fits into the story. That said, with him returning, it’s a good bet Miek won’t be far behind.

Chris Pratt

Thor met the Guardians of the Galaxy in Avengers: Infinity War, and as mentioned earlier, he decided to accompany them off Earth after Tony Stark’s funeral. However, it didn’t take long for Thor and Peter Quill, a.k.a. Star-Lord, to butt heads, as the former started acting like he was the leader of the team, when the latter had clearly retaken that role. Chris Pratt was the first Guardians of the Galaxy actor confirmed to appear in Thor: Love and Thunder, although as with the members being mentioned later on, it’s unclear how big Star-Lord’s role will be. At the end of Endgame, he was determined to find the time-displaced Gamora, but that mission is likely being saved for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Pom Klementieff

By the time Avengers: Infinity War unfolded, Pom Klementieff’s Mantis had been part of the Guardians of the Galaxy for years within the MCU, but from the audience’s perspective, she’s still the newcomer of the group. Nevertheless, fans will get another opportunity to see her ahead of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Towards the end of December 2020, Klementieff revealed she was in Sydney, Australia, which is where Thor: Love and Thunder is filming. Whether Mantis will use her emotion-manipulating powers or not remains to be seen.

Karen Gillan

Nebula went through a lot in Avengers: Endgame, from watching her “father” be beheaded by Thor to having to kill her past self in the heat of battle. By the end of the movie though, she seemed to be in a good place and rejoined the Guardians of the Galaxy. Karen Gillan teased at the beginning of January 2021 that she might be joining Thor: Love and Thunder, and over a week later, she confirmed her involvement, saying how she cut her hair to prepare to play Nebula again. Rocking a shorter hairdo will make it much easier to don the bald cap necessary to play the character.

Vin Diesel

You haven’t seen Vin Diesel’s face in the MCU, but you’ve definitely heard his voice coming out of a certain sentient tree’s mouth. Vin Diesel’s been voicing Groot since the beginning, and he was the one who spilled the bears about the Guardians of the Galaxy appearing in Thor: Love and Thunder. So it certainly makes that Groot would show up in Thor Odinson’s next adventure. That being said, Diesel was supposedly sighted in Australia, but it wasn’t confirmed if it was actually him. Plus, as a voice actor, it wouldn’t be necessary for Diesel to be on set. Unless Taika Waititi brought Diesel in to also physically cameo as a separate character, it’s hard to imagine why he’d be required on the Love and Thunder set.

Dave Bautista

Dave Bautista hasn’t commented on whether or not he’s in Thor: Love and Thunder, but it has been reported that he’s in quarantine in Australia so he can eventually work on the movie’s set. Plus, considering the other Guardians that have been accounted for, it’s hard to imagine Drax the Destroyer sitting this story out. That’s not to say that Drax will necessarily get the opportunity to pull out his trademark knives, but at the very least, hopefully he’ll get into an amusing back-and-forth with Thor.

Matt Damon

Remember Matt Damon in Thor: Ragnarok? No? Well, clearly you weren’t a fan of The Tragedy of Loki of Asgard, the play that Loki himself commissioned during his time disguised as Odin. Matt Damon cameoed in Ragnarok as the Asgardian actor playing Loki in the production, but he wasn’t seen again after Loki was revealed to be alive. Damon has now reportedly joined Thor: Love and Thunder, although it’s unclear if he’s playing the same actor or a different character. If it’s the former, then we can presumably count on seeing him in New Asgard.

Sean Gunn

Although not technically a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Sean Gunn’s Kraglin is closely tied to Peter Quill from their time together in Yondu’s Ravagers clan. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 ended with Kraglin practicing how to use Yondu’s flying arrow, which is easier said than done (he also supposedly participated in Avengers: Endgame’s final battle). Gunn was spotted on the Thor: Love and Thunder set wearing the arrow controller headpiece, so one can infer his character gotten a lot better at using the weapon in the years since his last appearance. Whether he’s now officially part of the Guardians or has just gotten roped into their latest adventure with the God of Thunder remains to be seen.

Throughout football season, Marvel’s finest have been competing in a high-stakes fantasy league, with tens of thousands of dollars on the line for the charities they are each passionate about. After over three months of publicly and playfully trash talking one another to bring light to their good causes, the season was crowned to Guardians of the Galaxy’s Chris Pratt this week. His co-star Pom Klementieff, a.k.a Mantis, is still going to get the last word though.

Pom Klementieff’s fantasy football team ended up in the lower half of the all-star bracket at 9th place out of 14, but she did manage to raise $20,000 for Time’s Up, which actively fights for women’s safety and equity. The actress, who is set to star in the upcoming Mission: Impossible installments, posted this tried-and-true troll to congratulate Chris Pratt:

Ah yes, the classic mistaken-for-another Chris joke. Hemsworth, Pratt, Evans and Pine are all scruffy and friendly A-list actors who have been in a comic book movie or two and just look alike. They get mistaken for each other on the street all the time, and Pom Klementieff decided to jab in the knife a little further in. In her Instagram update, she posted a cute picture of her reading in bed, with the title Hemsworth The One and Only across the cover with Chris Pratt’s face. The Chris battle never ends…

Chris Pratt won the AGBO Superhero League fair and square, and taking a donation of $190,000 to the Special Olympics Washington. It was a close one that ended with a head-to-head with Shang-Chi star Simu Liu, who joined the fantasy football team for the first time this year with his new Marvel buds. He ended up getting second place, but still won $150,000 for UNICEF Canada, an organization that gives back to kids. Here's how Pratt commemorated his win:

Even for the losers, there was still a lot of money to go around. The MCU’s neighborhood Spider-Man Tom Holland won the loser’s bracket with $70,000 raised for his family-owned charity Brother’s Trust and Team Reynolds, while Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Karen Gillan, the Russo Bros, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie and Elizabeth Olsen all got $20k for their chosen charities. Throughout the fantasy football league, the MCU members took turns trash talking each other, with highlights including Paul Rudd making a music video to take a dig at RDJ and Simu Liu rapping a diss track about Ryan Reynolds.

Sadly, Wonder Woman 1984 star Chris Pine didn’t get to defend his title as best Chris (and he totally gets my vote). Pine recently admitted that he thinks he’s the “underdog” in the Great Chris Debate and jokingly said he either needs to “step it up” or change his name. Either way we have Chrises upon Chrises in Hollywood and we wouldn't have it any other way... except, put Pine in coach! Star Trek 4 anyone?

The holiday season is a great time to kick our feet up and get some time to relax after a long and winding year. While our couches have probably been shown a lot more TLC this year than usual, the Mission: Impossible cast and crew have been hard at work all over the world making the seventh and eighth installments back-to-back under harsh COVID-19 production guidelines. To thank the Mission: Impossible team, it looks like Tom Cruise and Guardians of the Galaxy’s Pom Klementieff are getting in the gift-giving spirit.

Of course, the big story surrounding the Mission: Impossible production is Tom Cruise’s leaked viral outburst that had the actor threatening crew members they’d be fired if they did not adhere to the safety protocols he helped put in place for the movies. Just a few days prior to news breaking of Tom Cruise’s public outburst, costume cutter Tim Perkins shared this sweet gift from the Top Gun star:

It looks like the actor surprised the cast and crew with elegant gifts for the holiday season. It’s unclear whether they were received before or after 50 people were present for Tom Cruise to call out to some Mission: Impossible crew members standing less than two meters apart on set (it was likely before). Either way, we’d imagine stresses had been high and Tom Cruise got in the holiday spirit on set. Makeup and hair artist Charlie Hounslow also shared this sweet gesture from a newcomer to the franchise, Pom Klementieff:

It looks like the Mission: Impossible 7 and 8 crew were treated to some fun festivities despite some high-tension circumstances throughout the year. The movies were originally supposed to begin production back in March in Italy, right when the country faced a major COVID-19 outbreak. It was shut down in early 2020 before kicking off principal photography in September and filming in Norway and England, along with Italy. The shooting schedule was delayed in October after 12 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Italy.

Tom Cruise got candid about the pressure he and the production is facing in the leaked rant, where he told some crew members that Hollywood is “looking at us and using us to make their movies” and help create “thousands of jobs” in the midst of frequently yelling expletives, like calling them “motherfuckers.” Despite his cries not to shut the movie down again, that led to a few people quitting the project, and Mission: Impossible is reportedly going on a break for the holidays.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe became a well-oiled machine throughout the last decade of filmmaking, with every installment in Phase Three being a critical and box office success. The wait for Phase Four was made longer as when both Black Widow and Eternals was delayed, but there are a number of Marvel projects currently in the works. Taika Waititi's Thor: Love and Thunder is currently in pre-production in Sydney, and another Guardians of the Galaxy star has recently arrived to get to work.

Anticipation for Thor: Love and Thunder is at an all-time high thanks to the inclusion of Natalie Portman's Jane Foster, as well as the Guardians of the Galaxy. While Chris Pratt was confirmed to be appearing in the blockbuster, and Vin Diesel was recently spotted down under. And now another member of the motley crew has arrived in Australia: Mantis actress Pom Klementieff. She posted such news, check it out below:

And just like that, another member of the Guardians of the Galaxy has arrived in Sydney ahead of filming Thor: Love and Thunder. It's currently unclear how much of a presence they'll have, but it's a crossover moment that Marvel fans have been waiting for since Avengers: Endgame. Chris Hemsworth's God of Thunder fits in perfectly with the rest of the motley crew, so their dynamic is definitely going to be fodder for plenty of comedic beats.

At the end of Avengers: Endgame, Thor boarded the Guardians of the Galaxy's ship The Benatar, leaving New Asgard to Valkyrie. While the Guardians are no doubt focused on finding the 2014 version of Gamora, fans were eager to see more Chris Hemsworth with the team in Thor: Love and Thunder. Thor and Star-Lord had a particularly enjoyable give and take, as the two heroes compete to the delight of the rest of the team.

Given this ending, it would make sense of Thor: Love and Thunder picked up with Chris Hemsworth's character still with the Guardians on The Benatar. But with Taika Waititi also bringing back a variety of other characters throughout the movie's runtime, we'll just have to wait and see how significant the Guardians' role in the blockbuster will be.

Aside from seeing this dynamic play out, Marvel fans are perhaps most excited to see Natalie Portman return to the MCU as Jane Foster. Taika Waititi will be adapting the Mighty Thor plot line from the comics, which sees her gain the powers of the God of Thunder while also battling cancer. Portman was absent completely from Phase Three, so it's a great return to form for the fourth Thor movie.

There has been a significant lack of superhero movies in 2020. It's been more than a little depressing considering this is the year, more than most, when we really could have used them. Luckily, the actors who play our favorite superheroes have still kept busy. They're out there making other films, and occasionally dropping dis tracks as part of the AGBO Superhero League, that sees several actors who play superheroes in the movies competing against each other in fantasy football and then singing about how they're better at it than anybody else. Most recently, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2's Pom Klementieff dropped what is without question the best video yet, but she didn't do it without some some help, and some of that help was more significant that we thought.

Pom Klementieff is currently on location filming Mission: Impossible 7 and she enlisted her co-stars, Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, and Tom Cruise to make cameo appearances in the hilarious video. However, a brief cameo was not where Simon Pegg's assistance ended, as he also co-wrote the song with Klementieff and, even more impressively, directed the video itself.

And to be sure, the video is amazing. It's all shot in black and white with a sort of French new wave feel. It's honestly probably funnier if you don't speak French, as that separation between the lyrics and their meaning adds to the humor of the whole thing.

We've seen Simon Pegg's skills as a writer before to be sure. He co-wrote the Cornetto Trilogy with Edgar Wright. He co-wrote Star Trek Beyond. The fact that the lyrics of Pom Klementieff's song are whip smart is no real shock knowing that Pegg was involved, though it would appear Klementieff' herself is equally impressive with a pen as they wrote the song together. However, even outside of the song and the lyrics, the trash talking music video is just put together better than some of the other entries we've seen in this series, and we can likely chalk that up to Simon Pegg's direction.

So, when are we going to let Simon Pegg direct more? Certainly, these days there probably aren't a lot of opportunities, and the man is going to be busy for the foreseeable future acting in Mission: Impossible 7 and 8 under pandemic safety conditions, so he won't have a lot of time in the near term, but if he'd like to get some more experience directing some television or a movie, he probably has the pull to make that happen, and his video certainly indicates he has the skill.

If this is what Simon Pegg and Pom Klementieff can do when they're together, then it certainly makes one excited for the next two Mission: impossible movies. It's not clear the two will be on the same side, as Klementieff's character is being called a "femme fatale," but no matter. These movies are just looking like they got a lot more fun.

Football season is moving forward, and what better way to enjoy the season than joining your friends for some fantasy football… and the trash talk that comes with it. While many are likely enjoying the competition within their fantasy football leagues, the ones who seem to be enjoying it as much as anyone are the cast and crew of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The group has teamed up with the AGBO Superhero Fantasy Football League, which includes Marvel alums like Anthony Mackie, Tom Holland and Ryan Reynolds. Now, Guardians of the Galaxy star Pom Klementieff has chimed in, and she’s taking shots at the God of Thunder himself – Chris Hemsworth.

Marvel stars have been taking jabs at each other through videos and many have been choosing to throw shade through music. Pom Klementieff chose this same route, and the French actress belted out an anthem in her native tongue that destroyed Chris Hemsworth. From calling his iconic hammer “teeny weeny” to saying that his team has the value of a turd, Klementieff didn’t hold back in the hilarious Instagram video. Check out her A+ video down below:

Simu Liu’s Ryan Reynolds-centric diss track was great, as was Paul Rudd’s lyrical video. But what Pom Klementieff does here is nothing short of masterful. From the production values to the perfect lyrics, she seems to have mastered the art of trash talk through music. And of course, she gets extra points for the cool cameos from Mission: Impossible 7 co-stars Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson and Simon Pegg, who co-wrote the A+ song with her.

As mentioned, the stars of the MCU has been finding great ways to rip each other, as the football season continues. One of my personal favorite videos was one done by Avengers director Joe Russo, who went down the line and playfully “destroyed” all of the actors he’s worked with.

The AGBO Superhero Fantasy Football League has been about more than hurling insults, though. At the onset, Robert Downey Jr. sought to raise money for charity with the league and is doing so in the name of the late Chadwick Boseman.

It’s really nice to see that the stars are having a great time, but it’s even better to see that they’re also taking the opportunity to serve a greater cause. This entire league is a testament to their charitable spirits, and it also shows just how much fun they all have when they're working on something together.

With so much emotion going into this fantasy football league, it’s likely to be a hard-fought battle, and it’s hard to say who will come out on top. In the meantime, it’ll be entertaining to see what actor decides to step up and call out one of their castmates next. And after Pom Klementieff’s video, that person is really going to have to step up their game.

Paramount Pictures didn’t announce that another Mission: Impossible had been given the green light about half a year after Fallout’s release… it announced that two new movies were in the works, both of which will be helmed by the returning Christopher McQuarrie. It’s now been revealed one of the folks who will be around for both rides is Guardians of the Galaxy franchise star Pom Klementieff. This casting update comes straight from McQuarrie himself, who posted the following:

This is the second time that Christopher McQuarrie has taken to social media to make a casting announcement for Mission: Impossible 7 and Mission: Impossible 8. Back in September, he revealed that Hayley Atwell, another actress who’s graced the Marvel Cinematic Universe, had been recruited into the Mission: Impossible franchise, with Atwell clarifying days later that she’d be involved in both of the upcoming installments.

Now we know Pom Klementieff, who’s known best for playing Mantis in the MCU, will also be taking part in Mission: Impossible 7 and Mission: Impossible 8, with Christopher McQuarrie teasing her character as a femme fatale in his Twitter post. That’s not much, but at least it’s something to work with when guessing how she’ll factor into Ethan Hunt’s next adventures. She may initially be enticing to Tom Cruise’s character or at least present herself as an ally, but her ulterior motives will eventually be brought to light.

Pom Klementieff didn’t waste anytime confirming her involvement in the next Mission: Impossible movies with the following tweet:

While she wasn’t around for the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie, Pom Klementieff’s Mantis was quickly established as an important character in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, with Ego the Living Planet, Peter Quill’s father, relying on her empathic abilities to help him sleep while he was in his human form. After Ego was defeated, Mantis joined the Guardians and was present for the events of Avengers: Infinity War, but was dusted during The Decimation. Fortunately, she and everyone else snapped away were brought back to life in Avengers: Endgame.

Mantis is expected to be back for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but given that James Gunn is busy working on The Suicide Squad, we still have no idea when the threequel will arrive. Fortunately for Pom Klementieff, she has the opportunity to contribute to another major film franchise as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is still being sorted out. Klementieff’s other credits include Ingrid Goes West, Uncut Gems, The Addams Family and the Black Mirror episode “Striking Vipers”.

Along with Pom Klementieff and Hayley Atwell, the only actors confirmed for Mission: Impossible 7 and Mission: Impossible 8 are Tom Cruise and Rebecca Ferguson, who are reprising Ethan Hunt and Ilsa Faust, respectively. It was rumored shortly after both movies were announced that we might also see Alec Baldwin and Henry Cavill return (almost certainly through flashbacks, since both their characters died in Fallout), but that has yet to be confirmed.

The MCU is known for its secrets, allowing the tons of moviegoers who shell out money for tickets a full experience at the theater. And with the entire shared universe coming to a head with Avengers 4, the pressure is on to remain tight lipped about the final two installments in Phase Three. This is easier said than done, as the endless amounts of press can make it hard for directors and actors keep their cards close to the chest. Tom Holland and Mark Ruffalo are definitely Marvel's biggest offenders, although now it looks like Guardians of the Galaxy actress Pom Klementieff may have potentially revealed an exciting team-up for Avengers 4. When discussing the letter she Marvel ladies signed in solidarity with the #TimesUp movement, Klementieff revealed it happened on set, saying:

Does anyone else have chills? While far from an official confirmation, it appears that the likes of Mantis, Black Panther's Okoye, and Brie Larson's Captain Marvel may end up in one scene when Avengers 4 hits theaters next year. Now the question is: how?

Pom Klementieff's comments to Paper Magazine are sure to set the internet ablaze, as moviegoers are absolutely rabid for any information regarding Avengers 4. No one could have predicted the way Avengers: Infinity War ended, and the general public is at a loss regarding where The Russo Brothers will take the story next. Thanos succeeded in wiping out half the galaxy, and there were a ton of heroes lost in the process. This includes Klementieff's Mantis, who faded to dust alongside Drax and Groot during the film's final moments.

Since Infinity War was released, fans haven't stopped theorizing about how the dusted characters might return to the world of the living. One popular theory is that they're all alive in the Soul Stone, while other believe time travel would come into play. Captain Marvel will also join the main narrative of the MCU, after being heralded by Nick Fury's communication in Infinity War's post-credits scene. While Carol Danvers and Okoye's meeting seems inevitable, it'll take a big plot twist to bring Mantis into the same scenes.

Pom Klementieff isn't the only Guardians of the Galaxy star who is getting chatty lately. Dave Bautista recently revealed he'd worked on great scenes for Avengers 4, although James Gun's firing by Disney may change how the characters end up.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is approach the edge of a precipice. After the untitled fourth Avengers movie is released, the end of the MCU as we know it will reportedly end. Only a handful of projects have been announced for Phase Four, and quite a few of the main actor's contracts will be up, leaving the future unclear. But this also means that creative collaboration and planning can occur for the future, and Thor: Ragnarok's Tessa Thompson already has some ideas. She'd previously revealed her hopes for an all female Marvel movie, but it also turns out that she was accompanied by a handful of other MCU ladies during her pitch. And together they spoke to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige about it. She revealed:

It sounds like Tessa Thompson isn't the only female MCU star to have interest in teaming up for a future installment. All three of the women in Guardians of the Galaxy are down to join the newcomer, as well franchise staple Scarlett Johansson and newcomer Brie Larson. All they need to do is add Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch to include the missing queen, and we could watch Marvel's ladies team up and hopefully kick some serious ass.

It's this excitement that inspired them to approach Kevin Feige directly, as Tessa Thompson told CBR:

This type of movie would no doubt be welcomed by Marvel fans, and could implicate an even longer stay in the franchise for Scarlett Johansson. While she's set to appear in Infinity War and the untitled Avengers 4, it's currently unclear if she'll continue playing Black Widow into Phase Four. But if exciting projects like these are being produced, then she may just strike a deal with the studio for more movies.

Of course, this is all just fan fiction at this point. But with Phase Four a giant question mark for the time being, fans are just going to have to wait and wonder until an official announcement is made.

James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is essentially built around great character pairings, and easily one of the best of the bunch is the relationship between Dave Bautista's Drax and Pom Klementeiff's Mantis. Both alien beings are weird all by themselves, but they ultimately bring out the best in each other, and have some terrific scenes together. So what's the secret behind their bond? To hear Bautista tell it, it's all about a shared naiveté. The actor recently told me,

I had the chance to sit down with Dave Bautista during the Los Angeles press day for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 last month, and one of the subjects we touched on was the instant and special bond that Drax creates with Mantis over the course of the movie. I wondered if part of it may be seeing her as a surrogate daughter -- as his own daughter was notably killed by Ronan The Accuser years ago -- but Bautista explained that he feels as though it is more sibling-esque than parental.

Without giving away too many details, Drax and Mantis have some of the best moments together in all of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and much of that is because their individual idiosyncrasies pair up perfectly. As we learned over the course of the first movie, Drax doesn't really have a filter between his brain and his mouth, and it leads him to be perfectly blunt all of the time. Mantis, meanwhile, has led a kept life that has seen her have very little social interaction at all. Around such a character you would expect a protagonist to be very kind and gentile, but that simply isn't Drax's speed, and as a result they have an odd and funny back-and forth.

To date, writer/director James Gunn has managed to get Marvel to let him keep the Guardians of the Galaxy in their own special section of the Marvel Cinematic Universe -- but that comes to a major ending in May 2018. It will be at that time that the cosmic heroes are brought into the larger fold, starring opposite Earth's Mightiest Heroes in The Avengers: Infinity War. It's an exciting event that fans have been anticipating for years, but what you may not have expected is that the Guardians cast had some initial reservations about how the team would work into the larger story. Discussing her work on the 2018 blockbuster, Zoe Saldana recently told me,

Earlier this week, I had the incredible pleasure of sitting down with the entire main cast of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 during the movie's Los Angeles press day, and I took the opportunity to inquire about the work the actors have been doing on the set of The Avengers: Infinity War. What I was surprised by was that many of them told me about the concerns they had taking on a project of such scale -- followed by an explanation of how the experience filming has totally changed their tune.

Zoe Saldana, who returns as Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, was my first interview of the day, but when I sat down with Dave Bautista -- the man also known as Drax -- he also expressed similar thoughts. It apparently took a minute for the actor to trust Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo on the same level as James Gunn, but explained that his castmmates and himself were given a legitimate voice on set to make sure that there characters were being treated properly. Said Bautista,

Ultimately it was the pairing of Karen Gillan, who plays Nebula, and Pom Klementieff, who is introduced as Mantis in the film, who addressed the real elephant in the room where The Avengers: Infinity War is concerned: the size of the cast. While most definitely enthusiastic about being a part of what is unquestionably one of the biggest blockbusters of all time, they also expressed wonder at the fact that the production is managing to juggle all of the moving pieces. They told me,

Joe and Anthony Russo's The Avengers: Infinity War is currently in production -- primarily in Atlanta, Georgia -- and is so big in scope and scale that it will still be filming for many more months to come (the film is currently on track for a May 4, 2018 release date). Fans won't have to wait that long to see their favorite Marvel Cosmic characters back on the big screen, however, as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be playing in a theater near you on May 5th.

When Marvel Studios introduced the world to the Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014, characters like Drax Star-Lord and Gamora were virtual unknowns. Now? They are household names. Which is why writer/director James Gunn felt comfortable beefing up his playing field by introducing even more inventive, unusual and memorable characters from the Marvel comics to his on-screen universe when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 reaches theaters in May. We broke down how the core members of the Guardians would evolve in the sequel. Now, let's discuss a newcomer in Mantis.

First seen in the pages of the Marvel comics in 1973, Mantis is a half-Vietnamese and half-German woman with ties to the alien race known as the Kree. But James Gunn often makes changes when translating from page to screen, so we questioned Marvel President Kevin Feige on how Mantis will be portrayed in the sequel while visiting the set of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol .2 in Atlanta. He told us:

Marvel has asked us to sit on details about Kurt Russell's character, Ego the Living Planet, but I think I can tell you that Mantis (played by Pom Klementieff) travels with Ego -- we saw them together on his ship at the end of the latest Guardians trailer -- and that her powers are mainly of empathy. She can feel what others feel. As Klementieff explains it to us:

Knowing the full range of emotions that rage through the Guardians, I'm sure that Mantis' power is going to come in handy. I don't know if she is a fighter, though. Pom Klementieff said that her fighting style is "different" than what it might have been in the comics, but wouldn't elaborate on if it involved martial arts. She'd only say "different."

Yeah, some secrets stay on a set visit.

I will say that there have been rumors that Mantis eventually becomes a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy team, which was solidified in this group shot, from the Super Bowl trailer.

Just the other day we learned that, after an extensive search, Marvel’s upcoming deep space adventure, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, cast relative unknown Pom Klementieff in an unspecified role. Well, it didn’t take long, and though we don’t have official word, a new report indicates just who she may be playing.

Just a heads up, there may be potential mild SPOILERS beyond this point if you’re concerned about such things.

Though Klementieff’s role is being kept under wraps for the time being — this is Marvel after all, sometimes they keep things close to the vest — but Deadline’s sources tell them that she will play Mantis in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

If this does in fact turn out to be true, it won’t come as a huge shock. Earlier this year, there were rumors that the Marvel Cinematic Universe was going to introduce Mantis. Specifically, that report indicated that she was going to show up in Avengers: Age of Ultron and that she would serve as a kind of bridge to ultimately connect Earth’s Mightiest Heroes with the more celestial crew from Guardians of the Galaxy.

If you saw Age of Ultron, you know that obviously didn’t pan out, but she could very well show up in Guardians 2 and still serve a similar role. First appearing in Avengers comics in 1973, not only does Mantis have ties to the Kree, the warlike race of Ronan the Accuser from the first Guardians, she has connections to both Vision and Scarlet Witch, who arrived on the scene in Age of Ultron. Such a meeting could easily happen, especially if those rumors about Vision heading into space after Captain America: Civil War turn out to be legit.

Not only does it make sense that Mantis could appear in Guardians 2, Pom Klementieff also fits the characteristics of the role. The initial reports said that Marvel was specifically looking to cast an Asian woman — Klementieff is half Korean — and, in the comics, Mantis is half-Vietnamese. The character is also a proficient martial artist, and as the 29-year-old actress, who is most known for her role in Spike Lee’s American remake of Oldboy (which stars fellow MCU members Josh Brolin, who plays Thanos, and Elizabeth Olsen, who plays Scarlet Witch), has a background in both taekwondo and boxing. Those skills could certainly come in handy.

We’ll have to wait and see how this pans out, but it is definitely plausible that Pom Klementieff may be playing Mantis.

Writer and director James Gunn will once again steer the ship, and the rest of the band of barely legal space rogues is also back, including Chris Pratt (Star-Lord/Peter Quill), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax the Destroyer), Bradley Cooper (Rocket Raccoon), and Vin Diesel (Groot).

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is scheduled for a May 5, 2017 release.

In 2014, after Marvel’s deep space adventure Guardians of the Galaxy became an unexpectedly massive global hit, the follow up, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, as is it now known, jumped to the top of many people’s most anticipated lists. We know that the core cast will be back for more epic adventures, but the movie has now added the relatively unknown actress Pom Klementieff as an unknown character.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel went on an extensive search to fill a key slot in the cast, one that specifically calls for an Asian actress, and this quest led them to cast Klementieff in the mystery role.

The 29-year-old actress was born in Quebec, Canada, and though she has a handful of credits on her resume, most of them were in France, and she’s not particularly well-known to mainstream or international audiences. To date, her highest profile role was a relatively small part in Spike Lee’s remake of the Korean revenge thriller Oldboy. Interestingly enough, that film starred two other members of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Josh Brolin, who plays the Mad Titan Thanos, and Elizabeth Olsen, who plays Scarlet Witch, a new member of The Avengers. Wonder if that had anything to do with the casting?

Maybe that helped Klementieff get a foot in the door, but Marvel’s search reportedly did several rounds of auditions and "chemistry reads" to make sure that the actress was the right fit. Though there are no details yet, THR does describe it as "key," and if they went to such great lengths to make sure she was the right choice, it stands to reason that, whatever this role is, it’s pretty important. Klementieff also has boxing and taekwondo skills in her bag of tricks, so hopefully she’ll have ample opportunity to get in there and mix it up.

All of the key players from Guardians of the Galaxy are coming back for Vol 2. This includes writer and director James Gunn, as well as the main actors that comprise the title group of space rogues, Chris Pratt (Star-Lord/Peter Quill), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax the Destroyer), Bradley Cooper (Rocket Raccoon), and Vin Diesel (Groot). Karen Gillan will also be back as the villainous Nebula, and Michael Rooker will return as Yondu. As the original went on to gross a tidy sum of $774 million worldwide, expectations are through the roof for the follow up. If nothing else, it should have a kick ass soundtrack.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 is slated to begin production early in 2016 and is scheduled for release on May 5, 2017.
