After S.S. Rajamouli brought Tollywood to a global audience with the success of Oscar-winning epic RRR back in 2022, the Indian director is back working on an even bigger film called Varanasi with Priyanka Chopra Jonas. CinemaBlend was among a select press invited to check out the big practical set built for Varanasi, we got to set foot on one key set that was built from the ground up in Hyderabad, India specifically for what’s being called one of India’s most expensive films.

S.S. Rajamouli Completely Recreated A Famed Indian Temple For Varanasi

I had a chance to visit the Varanasi set back in November in the same week S.S.R. unveiled the movie’s first trailer in front of over 40k fans and a wildly big 100 by 132 foot screen. The title “Varanasi” itself, is named after the spiritual capital of India, so as you can imagine quite a bit of the movie will depict the city. Since it would have apparently been a “nightmare” to film on location, Rajamouli set his sights on recreating the ancient city for the film. Check out this model and plans we were shown on set of what’s been built for the film:

The movie specifically recreated the famed Ratneshwar Mahadev Temple across nine acres of land in the heart of the city of Hyderabad. We were told it cost $2.5 million to build it across three to four months, and this is no flimsy set. It truly felt like I was walking on an ancient temple, and as they told us, it was built out of concrete, and should be able to stand for three years. After seeing the set, Rajamouli told us this in our exclusive interview with the filmmaker:

We can’t imagine all the measuring and planning that went into this. When we were on set, the production was getting ready to shoot in December/January. We were told it was going to be used for four scenes of drama and a big action scene with hand-to-hand combat and guns.

The Cool Way The Practical Set Can Be Reused For Multiple Scenes

One exciting element of Varanasi is that it will span multiple time periods, and being on the set definitely allowed us to see one way the production is doing so. The Ratneshwar Mahadev Temple has been around for around 200 years, and we were told that some of the scenes being shot there will be from the present day, and some will be in the past. When we saw it, it was set-dressed for the present day, with one poster advertising for an event in 2028. The famous leaning temple can be brought up 12.5 feet higher to depict how it originally looked. How cool is that?

How The Huge Set Is Being Kept Under Wraps

One quick question that came up as we gazed upon the set was how Varanasi planned to keep the secret of the set. The people we spoke to on set said all sorts of properties were actually built while they were constructing the set, and they’d have to build barricades in order to keep things underwraps. Here’s what Rajamouli told us:

On top of that, they have to plan for the likes of Priyanka Chopra Jonas and another huge star in India, Mahesh Babu to be on set as well. One of the reasons why Varanasi is such a big deal is because it's Chopra Jonas’s first Indian movie in years.

Where Else Is Varanasi Being Shot

The Varanasi set we got to visit was awesome, but it’s one of many that’s being used for the movie. The cast also filmed a portion of it in Kenya, where Chopra Jonas compared filming to The Lion King. The film’s cast were filmed alongside a ton of wild animals there, which will be awesome to see on the big screen. It’s great to hear about some of the practical elements of the movie, because a good portion of the movie has been filmed in front of green and blue screens as well. Here’s what Chopra Jonas had to say about having these two types of sets on Varanasi:

Varanasi’s release date has officially been announced to be hitting theaters on April 7, 2027. It was shot for IMAX, so this is definitely the kind of movie we’ll be running to see in the cinemas.

Priyanka Chopra-Jonas is heading back to Indian cinema for the first time in years, and she’s going big and going home. The actress is set to star in Varanasi, S.S. Rajamouli’s next epic following RRR. The globetrotting film that is one of the most exciting upcoming action movies not only pays homage to her Indian homeland, it sent her to the heart of the African Savannah as well.

When CinemaBlend had a chance to chat with Priyanka Chopra-Jonas in Hyderabad, India back in November for an early press day for Varanasi, the actress set the scene about filming part of the movie in Kenya. In her words:

How can we ever forget Mufasa’s death in The Lion King? It’s one of the most heartbreaking movie scenes I can think of, and Chopra-Jonas told us that she felt like she was living it while filming her upcoming movie. The moment in the 1994 Disney classic is the perfect way for her to describe the feeling of being around wildebeest. She added:

Writer/director Rajamouli isn’t one to cut corners with the movies he makes, and since Varanasi is one of the first Indian films being shot for IMAX, he seeks to give audiences an immersive experience on the big screen. The same could be said for the actors while they were in Kenya as they were doing their scenes not too far from some gorgeous animals. Chopra-Jonas also said this of an experience with a family of elephants:

The title of Varanasi is named after India's spiritual capital. We know the movie will take place during a large span of time across the globe and is inspired by Rajamouli’s love of the Indiana Jones movies. There will be big stunt sequences and song-and-dance numbers. Right now, we don’t know quite how these scenes shot in Kenya will fit into it all, but knowing how genuine their experiences were in Kenya definitely has us excited to see what was captured. Varanasi will be released globally on April 7, 2027.

There must be countless diaries tucked away in garages from the early 2000s with “Mrs. Nick Jonas” written in cursive all over them, but it was Priyanka Chopra who earned the title of the singer/actor’s other half back in 2018. They’ve been together for eight years now and share a young daughter together, but their relationship hasn’t been bulletproof to public backlash in the past, and Chopra Jonas just opened up about it.

Chopra Jonas has been a busy lady recently from filming her first Indian movie in years, Varanasi and having a swashbuckling adventure on the 2026 movie release schedule set to come out later this month. In a new interview with Variety, she tackled the topic of her relationship with Nick Jonas, saying this:

Like many couples in Hollywood, over the years Priyanka and Nick have been the subject of rumors such as theories that they are a PR couple or are facing marital problems behind the scenes. Chopra Jonas responded to the subject by saying it’s the choice of others if they “want to keep waiting for it to implode,” but as far as she’s concerned she’s “stopped thinking about it.”

In regards to their age gap, Chopra Jonas is a decade older than her husband. When they met, she was 35 and he was 25. Previously, she’s said that when she first met him she too “judged the book by the cover” and declined dating him before realizing he’s a “a 70-year-old man stuck in a 30-year-old’s body”. When Nick Jonas proposed to his wife, he apparently told her she checked all of his boxes, and later the pair got matching tattoos of a checkmark in a box (Priyanka has it behind her ear and Nick has it on his arm). The former Bollywood actress recalls not being sure if her husband’s sincerity was “even real” when they were in the early days of their relationship, but thankfully she’s been proven wrong time and time again. S.S. Rajamouli is widely known as the biggest director in Indian cinema right now, but since the success of RRR he’s become a global sensation. Between its theatrical release, the record number of viewers who watched it with a Netflix subscription and its Oscar win, the filmmaker is going even bigger with his next movie, Varanasi. Some advice from James Cameron influenced him to go there.

When CinemaBlend had the chance to speak to Rajamouli back in November in Hyderabad, India, the director recalled linking up with the Avatar: Fire And Ash filmmaker while on the Oscar trail for RRR. In his words:

There’s a viral clip of the moment when Rajamouli and Cameron linked up at the Critics Choice Awards in 2023 where the directors geeked out over each other. Rajamouli at the time told me he hadn’t spoken to Cameron recently (he later reunited with him for a chat in December shared on YouTube), but his advice has remained important to him as he makes Varanasi.

The new movie, which is coming to global cinemas in April 2027, is currently in production. During my trip to India, Rajamouli unveiled the first footage to Varanasi in front of over 40,000 fans on a massive 100 by 132 foot screen that showcased the visuals being created especially for IMAX. The director told me this about his decision to shoot the adventurous epic:

Varanasi is a globetrotting, time-spanning action-adventure film that brings Priyanka Chopra Jonas to Indian cinema for the first time in years since in the past decade, she’s predominantly been producing and starring in Hollywood movies. This certainly looks like the kind of movie you want to see on the biggest screen possible! As Sukumaran also told us, currently India doesn’t even have a screen that can play a film in the 1.43 ratio, but they hope that will change by the time it comes out. Rajamouli making waves in cinema and thinking big and innovative as he is certainly makes it clear as to why him and James Cameron get along. Varanasi is hitting theaters around the world on April 7, 2027.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ One Request For Varanasi

In November, I had the opportunity to travel to Hyderabad, India where Varanasi is currently filming to learn about the film from RRR filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli. When I sat down with the main cast, i.e. Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran, we talked about a major part of the film: the music numbers. Here’s what Chopra Jonas had to say...

Obviously a huge element of Indian cinema that sets it apart from Hollywood in a big way is all the song-and-dance numbers, which is particularly in a Rajamouli movie when it’s done alongside massive practical action sequences and such. As Chopra Jonas joked, she wasn’t quite expecting how much dancing the movie would involve. Her co-star Babu added this:

It’s one thing to learn some dance moves, but Chopra Jonas and the Varanasi cast do so on top of doing a lot of their own stunts for Rajamouli’s massive vision, which promises to not only transport audiences around the world, but throughout long stretches of time as well. The title of the movie is named after India's spiritual capital.

What Else We Know About Varanasi’s Music

As has been the case with all of Rajamouli’s movies thus far, including Oscar-winning original song “Naatu Naatu,” M. M. Keeravani is scoring Varanasi’s music, with the composer confirming to India Times in November that the movie will have six songs. When I asked Rajamouli if he thinks there’s a song in Varanasi that will rival “Naatu Naatu”, he had this to say:

The plot details of Varanasi are very much being kept under wraps at this time, but we do know that the movie will span over various time periods, and the title refers to a city on the Ganges River in northern India that serves as a religious and spiritual center.

It will be a globetrotting adventure film (with music numbers, of course) and Rajamouli has also suggested it's both inspired by the Indiana Jones movies and important stories of historic and popular significance to Indian culture.

Currently, Varanasi's release date is perfectly carved out because there aren't many other big Hollywood movies in competition with it – but of course, studios are adding films to next year all the time. For the time being, Godzilla x Kong: Supernova and Mel Gibson's biblical drama The Resurrection of the Christ: Part One are set for March 28, and April's pretty wide open aside from an action thriller called F.A.S.T.

Since Varanasi is reportedly one of the most expensive movies to come from Indian cinema, we expect and hope to see this massive RRR follow-up make a killing commercially, along with hopefully introducing more global audiences to the power of Rajamouli's visionary mind and Telugu cinema.

It’s impossible to forget how a big a phenomenon RRR became just a few years ago. The Tollywood movie became a global success that reached much further than its Telugu audience. Not only did director S.S. Rajamouli's film break all kinds of records for Indian cinema, but it also won the Oscar for Best Original Song. Now, Rajamouli is seeking to go even bigger with his next movie, Varanasi, and the first official look very impressive!

CinemaBlend had the chance to learn more about Rajamouli's new film during a massive fan event in India, reportedly attended by around 40,000 to 50,000 people. This coincided with production on the film, which is currently being shot in Hyderabad. With that, we got to see the epic first look at Varanasi, starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Manash Babu, and the scale and excitement here is very palpable. India cinema is ready to go global in a big way with this one!

We were invited to attend the Globetrotter event, which has been a code name for Rajamouli’s new movie, though the official title was ultimately unveiled as Varanasi during the festivities. The event took place at an outdoor venue at Ramoji Film City, where the first teaser trailer was shown on a massive 100 by 132 foot screen. When addressing the huge and passionate crowd, Rajamouli declared the movie is being filmed for IMAX and showed an image in the 1.43:1 ratio. Check it:

We don’t know much about the plot of Varanasi yet, but you can watch the trailer yourself, considering it dropped shortly after the event. Take a look:

Varanasi has a grand, immersive quality about it, as the footage that opens with a montage of landscapes from various time periods showcases. The VFX are absolutely gorgeous and pristine, and it's clear there’s some big world-building being created here. At the event itself, Indian fans went absolutely wild for the reveal of Mahesh Babu as a character named Rudhra, which was also shown first at the event.

Babu is thought of as the "Prince of Tollywood" and, man, did it show at the Globetrotter event. The crowd would go crazy for the actor every time he was mentioned or when a flash of his face came on the big screen. When Rajamouli and co-star Priyanka Chopra Jonas (who is also obviously one of India’s biggest names) spoke of the “superstar”, they only talked about him warmly and passionately. Chopra Jonas is not in the trailer, but a peek at her character was highlighted at the event. Here’s her very own poster:

During the event, a couple of other details were teased about the movie, including the villain. The antagonist's name is Kumbha, and he’s set to be played by Prithviraj Sukumaran. With that, Sukumaran took to the stage prior to the trailer reveal to say Kumbha is “one of the most complex, physically challenging characters” he’s ever seen. The baddie's own poster shows that he’s a wheelchair user with at least four electronic hands attached to it.

The film's music was also showcased to some extent by Tollywood’s Shruti Haasan through an awesome song-and-dance performance. Additionally, there were a couple of other dance performances to provide audiences with an early taste of the film.

One piece of proof of the ambition of this event is that it took a couple of tries for the full trailer to be shown in all its greatness on the huge screen. As Rajamouli explained to fans after it didn’t deliver the first time around, he and his team decided not to test the footage prior to the event after a drone was caught trying to leak it early. (How wild is it that a trailer reveal event drew this much attention from fans?) After attending this event, I'm honestly not sure Hollywood has an equivalent to it. Such energy may only be found at concerts for stars like Beyoncé and Taylor Swift.

Based on what we saw from the event, and the blisteringly high energy for Varanasi, it’s definitely a flick to watch out for. Rajamouli is thinking very big for his next project, and thinking for a global audience and, at this point, I think there's a chance he could outdo RRR.

While Hollywood blockbusters are still quite capable of producing bona fide solo heroes for audiences to cheer and worry for like John Wick and [insert specially skilled Liam Neeson character name], fewer and farther between are the two-hander action romps that populated video rental shelves in the '80s and '90s. That semi-dearth of duos is largely why I'm so grateful that John Cena and Idris Elba's rip-roaring new action-comedy Heads of State exists.

As produced by Amazon MGM — whose name is basically buddy branding in and of itself — Heads of State likely could have set Cena and Elba up with the dumbest story imaginable and their combined talents would have still made it worth watching. Thankfully, screenwriting duties were handled in part by veteran scribes Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec, whose most prominent addition to the action genre was unquestionably co-writing Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol.

Cena brings his WWE confidence as the relatively new President of the United States Will Derringer, who was a globally recognized action movie star prior to entering politics. Naturally, Will is the overly vocal and impulsive yin to the measured and clandestine yang of Elba's Sam Clarke, Britain's Prime Minister. Opposites initially don't attract as they're brought together to unveil a plot-driving plan to fellow NATO leaders, but a nagging terrorist threat forces them to see each other's strengths instead of just the faults. It's a classic set-up, and the two stars make both the clashing and vibing feel genuine throughout.

It's the third and biggest movie yet from director Ilya Naishuller, who is arguably responsible for injecting the biggest surprises and quirkiest moments that make Heads of State stand apart from the sea of overly serious political thrillers and lesser-than action-comedies that sacrifice wowzers stunts for ad-libbed one-liners.

Together, John Cena and Idris Elba are funny, charismatic and badass enough that I already want a sequel.

Idris Elba is the kind of actor who brings his A-game to every role, and he's quite polished at choosing projects that hit above a certain line of quality. Cena by and large shares that first trait, even if his body of work sits on a slightly lower echelon. Put the two together, and where one might expect to see two larger-than-life personalities fighting for screen-supremacy, and the result is instead perfectly complementary. The pairing worked in The Suicide Squad within a larger ensemble but fully thrives here.

Cena's Will Derringer is largely a caricature that mixes Donald Trump's political bravado and impulsive outbursts with former Governator Arnold Schwarzenegger's embrace of his Hollywood past. He's the kind of guy who loves to solve problems with easily digestible catchphrases, which initially puts him at odds with Elba's more stoic and contemplative Sam Clarke. Their argumentative dynamic creates a bit of a grind early on as everyone's personalities are spread out in full, but the pair's chemistry is locked in straightaway, making this way easier to watch than an actual political debate.

The two leaders are forced into teaming up aboard Air Force One after the flight gets targeted by a team of goons guided by Paddy Considine's shady mustachioed villain Viktor Gradov. Once the two heroes are free and clear of the plane crash, they're forced to go on the run to seek out a welcoming U.S. embassy, with plenty of expected and unexpected threats getting in their way. If you think it wouldn't get old watching Cena and Elba punch, kick and shoot enemies with gleeful aplomb, you'd be right.

Not that the two titular Heads provide the only star power. Priyanka Chopra-Jonas is every bit as badass as her co-stars while portraying MI6 agent Noel Bisset, whose prolonged absence during a chunk of the movie feels more like a scheduling issue than a story plus-up. The Boys and Novocaine's Jack Quaid pops in for some brazen and brutal delights, and might actually boast the most highlight reel-ready appearance of anyone.

Nobody director Ilya Naishuller gets his biggest budget yet, with lots of fun, unique, and explosive moments to show for it.

Russian filmmaker Ilya Naishuller made his mark on Hollywood and U.S. audiences with the 2015 action flick Hardcore Henry (budget: $2 million), which is infamous for being shot entirely from the first-person perspective of its main character. Next up, Naishuller turned Bob Odenkirk into a low-key action hero with 2021's Nobody (budget: $16 million), which was a big enough hit to spark a sequel (coming later this year).

With Heads of State, however, the director is working on a completely different level, and his ability to scale his talents up becomes quite evident during the first big action sequence onboard Air Force One. Actually, the moments that occur outside the plane are the best indicators of Naishuller's ability to shake up the norm. A couple of the most memorable shots in the film come from cameras that are attached to drone explosives aimed at the POTUS' plane, calling back to Hardcore Henry's P.O.V. approach.

Other stunts and shots peppered throughout the film also show off Naishuller's imaginative approach to camerawork – be on the lookout for a character who's missing his front teeth – which helps give Heads of State more personality than the majority of less playful releases. Even when explosive weapons aren't in use, Will and Sam's hand-to-hand combat scenes are somehow just as much fun and exciting to watch.

That applies fully to the main antagonist's top pair of hyper-violent enforcers, Sasha the Killer (Alexander Kuznetsov) and Olga the Killer (Katrina Durden), who seem to defy death as they continue chasing the two world leaders wherever necessary. The duo would have felt right at home in The Raid or Oldboy.

I admittedly expected more of those unique and unexpected moments throughout, and it's entirely possible that making such a big budget movie for Amazon MGM stymied some of Ilya Naishuller's wackier instincts in order to keep everything on a clear and understandable narrative path.

Despite early issues with plot and tone, Heads of State boasts a pretty flawless second half.

Had a version of Heads of State come out in the '80s alongside the comparable buddy action classics Lethal Weapon and 48 Hrs., the political exposition laid out in the first act likely wouldn't have inspired a second glance. But at a time when real-world news is affected by partisanship at every level, watching any kind of immature tête-à-tête between two global leaders – even a fictional comedic-minded one – can immedaitely become exhausting.

Beyond the politico murk, the film's opening sequences also have a lot of exposition and character introductions to get through, which is where audiences first meet Chopra-Jonas' Noel and Sarlto Copley's Agent Coop. Which leads to introductions for Will's Chief of Staff Simone (Sarah Niles), Sam's second banana Quincy (Richard Coyle) and Viktor Gradov's American quasi-henchman Arthur (Stephen Root). Let's also not forget Will's Vice President Elizabeth Kirk, though Carla Gugino makes her first appearance a bit later on.

After the stellar Air Force One sequence, however, John Cena and Idris Elba are removed from the bulk of the other main characters, and that's when things get cooking. Without anyone else yapping in their ears, Will and Sam are forced to meet in the middle and work together, which is the foundation of any great buddy action movie. The movie never loses sight of that kinship, either, throughout all the other bone-breaking brawls, bullet-hell gunfights, and twisty plot machinations.

With its surprisingly deft blend of high-stakes action and light-hearted comedy that bumps against the PG-13 rating, Heads of State is 100% the kind of guilt-free popcorn-chomping good time that Amazon MGM should be making, and is definitely worthy of a trip to the theater, as opposed to streaming at home. President John Cena's biceps deserve to be seen on the biggest screen possible... because America.

There are a lot of rumors swirling that the romance between Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet has come to an end. The couple, who has only been seen together a handful of times during their nearly yearlong courtship, has been even more quiet than usual, with fans noticing that not even their usual tabloids have had anything to report. If the Jenner split speculation turns out to be true, it will be a shame, as she and Chalamet are the very definition of a power couple. In fact, a new study alleges they are the “most influential” pair on social media with their combined 419 million-plus Instagram followers.

Research done by BestAUCasinoSites suggests that a couple’s social media following can determine how much they are able to earn from sponsored posts, so it makes sense that as one of the most-followed people on Instagram, Kylie Jenner brings some heft to the partnership. In fact, the company suggests that the Kardashians’ little sister can earn up to $835,900 per Instagram post. Researcher Margaret Cooper discussed why being part of a power couple on social media can lead to such big paydays, saying: 

The Dune: Part Two co-stars are apparently the cream of the crop when it comes to Instagram influence, as Zendaya and Tom Holland placed fourth on the list of most-followed couples. Their combined 251 million followers could reportedly earn her $461,600 per sponsored post.

It’s interesting that these couples’ influence is driven by fans wanting a peek into their private lives and relationships, because both of the above examples have kept their romances largely close to the vest. While Zendaya has said some cute things about Tom Holland on the Dune 2 press tour and the Spider-Man: No Way Home star has had adorable ways of showing support for the Euphoria actress, her social media page does not include photos of them together.

The same can be said about Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet, who have been caught making out at Beyoncé’s Renaissance Tour and again at the U.S. Open, but have never gone Instagram official. Maybe that adds intrigue for fans, as they definitely are scouring her TikTok videos hoping to catch some evidence of Chalamet in the background. 

Other powerful couples to make the list include:

• Dwayne Johnson (aka The Rock) and wife Lauren Hashian: 397.4 million combined followers for an estimated $830,000 per sponsored post.
• Kim Kardashian and Odell Beckham Jr., with rumors of a possible relationship being reignited at a Grammys party: 381.9 million followers, $777,700 per post from Kardashian and $76,200 per OBJ post.
• Kevin Hart and wife Eniko Hart: 183.5 million followers, $452,000 per Kevin post and $21,400 per Eniko post.
• Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra: 125.9 million followers, $266,900 per Chopra post, $129,700 per Jonas post.
• Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively: 95.1 million followers, $154,000 per Lively post and $171,500 per Renolds post.
• Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel: 86 million followers, $224,000 per Timberlake post, $63,400 per Biel post.
• Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi: 64.5 million followers, $202,000 per Brown post, $11,000 per Bongiovi post.
• Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky: 64.4 million followers, $190,600 per Hemsorth post and $33,000 per Pataky post.

Although not included in this study, it seems like Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce also belong somewhere on this list, as another company recently reported that the Eras Tour artist can make $637,300 for an Instagram post, with the NFL tight end capable of banking $34,200 from their combined 288.5 million Instagram followers.

If the rumors surrounding Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet are true, they may lose their power couple status, but I’m confident they’ll both land on their feet, financially and otherwise. When Love Again premiered on the 2023 movie schedule, it didn't get much attention, and its box officer performance showed it. However, when the rom-com starring Sam Heughan and Priyanka Chopra arrived on Netflix with lots of other movies in September, it became wildly popular. Now, it’s a hit for the streamer. 

Love Again hit theaters in May and ran through mid-June. During that time it made $12.7 million worldwide, per Box Office Mojo, with a reported production budget of $9 million. To put it bluntly, it did not do well in theaters. However, thankfully, the rom-com has found a new life on Netflix and it's been given a chance to find Love Again. 

Between September 2 and 3 Love Again climbed into Netflix’s Top 10 and earned 5.1 million hours of views, according to the streamer, putting it at No. 8 on the list. As of September 12, the rom-com is sitting at No. 7 in Netflix’s Top 10 Movies in the U.S. showing that it has had sustained interest over the last ten days.  

Even though Love Again flopped at the theater, it’s thriving on Netflix, and it makes sense. Rom-coms tend to do well on the platform, think of all the successful originals like To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, Set It Up and The Kissing Booth (among others) found when they premiered. So, when a sweet romance movie about a woman who lost her fiancé and meets a new love by sending texts to his old phone number premieres on the streamer, it is logical that people would want to use their Netflix subscription to fall head over heels for it. 

Also, we’ve seen time and time again that movies and television shows can find completely new lives when they hit Netflix. Take Suits for example. While the show was a hit during its original run, the USA Network lawyer drama has dominated the streamer for the majority of the summer, and it found a totally new audience. The creator Aaron Korsh said folks could have tuned in for lots of different reasons, and he believes that “Netflix knows how to entice you to watch a television show and then that builds on itself.” 

Seeing a show or movie on the Top 10 list or having the latest addition recommended through the streamer can 100% entice viewers to tune in. I know I have. So, finding a second wind on a streaming service is not a new concept, and it’s clear that Love Again is benefiting from this right now. 

It’s also worth noting that both Sam Heughan and Priyanka Chopra, the stars of the Love Again cast, have massive fanbases in part because of their success on television. Considering how popular Outlander is on Netflix, I’m not shocked that Love Again has found its way into the Top 10, especially when you realize that both star the beloved Scottish actor. Along the same lines, Chopra found success in the U.S. through hit shows like Quantico. These devoted fanbases are likely down to watch just about anything these two stars are in, especially when it's easily available on Netflix and they can stream it from the comfort of their own couch. 

Overall, it’s always nice to see a movie get some extra love after not having the greatest turnout at the movie theater. Clearly, Love Again has found its audience on Netflix, and so many viewers are now able to watch Sam Heughan and Priyanka Chopras’ sweet romance (that also happens to star Celine Dion) and fall in love with the sweet rom-com.

From Julia Roberts to Jennifer Lawrence to Viola Davis, the list of women who have taken a stand and fought for pay equality is long and inspiring. Many actresses, including the three named above, have worked hard to ensure equal pay for themselves, and they have been transparent about the pay disparity they have experienced compared to their male co-stars. So, let’s take a look at a few examples of women who have stood up against the gender pay gap in Hollywood. 

Julia Roberts 

Julia Roberts was a pioneer when it came to fair compensation for actresses, and she helped break the glass ceiling when she sought better pay for her role in Erin Brockovich. The Oscar winner -- and she won for this movie might I add -- demanded $20 million to play the leading role in Steven Soderbergh’s 2000 film. Ultimately she became the only woman during that time to make as much as a male actor, and she had to fight for it, as she explained in 2022 during History Channel’s History Talks in Washington D.C. (via Variety):

Not only did Roberts have the box office success of some of her best films like Pretty Woman and Notting Hill, among others, to show her worth, but she also explained just how hard she works on set, explaining that she’s “all-in. So, show me the money.”  

Jennifer Lawrence 

Jennifer Lawrence penned a brutally honest essay on the pay gap in Hollywood back in 2015, which was years after she won her Oscar and around the time the final Hunger Games film came out. In the open letter to Lenny Letter, the Silver Linings Playbook star explained why she found it unacceptable that she, and many actresses, weren’t making as much as their male colleagues. She wrote: 

The three actors she named were her co-stars in David O. Russell’s American Hustle, and she and Amy Adams also starred in the film. All five were advertised on an equal level on the poster, but as Lawrence noted, she was worried she’d be called a “brat” if she negotiated like her male co-workers probably did. However, with this letter, she put her foot down and made her worth known. 

Viola Davis 

Viola Davis has spoken candidly about the pay gap and how women of color are specifically affected by it. The actress, who joined the list of EGOT winners recently, spoke about how she’s had a similar career to other prominent actresses like Meryl Streep and Julianne Moore. However, she has not received the same treatment as them. The Fences star explained during a conversation with Women in the World CEO Tina Brown in 2018 (via Mashable): 

She went on to say she thinks Black actresses probably get “a tenth of what a Caucasian woman gets,” noting that she’s “number one on the call sheet,” and still doesn’t make as much. Davis makes a valid point, she has had a career that is just as prestigious as all the actresses she names, and she’s been awarded for it at the highest caliber. However, when it comes to her paycheck, as she said, it’s not so equal, and it needs to change. 

Priyanka Chopra Jonas 

Priyanka Chopra Jonas was a wildly successful Bollywood actress before making her debut in the United States in the hit ABC drama Quantico. However, she didn’t receive equal pay until this year for her show on the 2023 TV schedule, Citadel. While speaking at the South by Southwest Film Festival, the actress explained that even though she’s been working for 22 years, and has over 70 credits to her name, pay parity wasn’t something she received until recently. According to THR she said:  

Chopra Jonas explained that Jennifer Salke being the head of Amazon Studios probably helped her receive equal pay. The actress starred in the show alongside Richard Madden, and they were billed as co-leads, which logically meant they both made what they deserved and there wasn’t a pay gap when it came to their respective salaries for the Prime Video series. 

Ellen Pompeo 

Before leaving Grey’s Anatomy as a series regular last fall, Ellen Pompeo had led the show for 19 seasons. She saw the changing of the guard both in front of and behind the camera, and she always led the cast as Meredith Grey. However, despite her character’s name being in the title of the show, she had to fight to get fair pay, and she’s been very open about that battle. 

In 2018, the actress explained to THR that she tried to negotiate a higher salary when Patrick Dempsey left the show in 2015, saying:

Well, in 2017, she was finally able to come to a deal that made her “the highest-paid woman on television” as she signed a $20 million per year contract. The Merideth Grey actor also explained she was able to take on producing too, saying what they were able to do to close the pay gap on this show and provide more opportunities for women in entertainment was “unprecedented.” 

Zoë Saldaña 

If you look at a list of the highest-grossing movies of all time, the common denominator among the top three is Zoë Saldaña. As one of the stars of Avatar, Avengers: Endgame and Avatar: The Way of Water, she has played a role in films that are pivotal to modern cinema, and she deserves to be paid equally for them. 

To show her support for the fight for equal pay, the actress celebrated Latina Equal Pay Day on Instagram in 2018, as she, and others posted this message:

Along with Saldaña, Latina actresses including Sofia Vergara, Gina Rodriguez, Melissa Barrera and more posted the same message to their socials, as ET compiled, so they could all shine a light on the pay disparity that Latina actresses face. 

Thandiwe Newton

Groundbreaking work was done during Season 3 of Westworld when it was confirmed that Thandiwe Newton and Evan Rachel Wood had negotiated their contracts to finally get equal pay to their male co-stars. While speaking with Vanity Fair in 2018, Newton opened up about the entire cast of the HBO hit getting equal pay, as she said: 

She went on to talk about how the negotiations went, and why she felt it was important to work toward an agreement that closed the pay gap on the show. She said:

Considering how big of a hit Westworld was, it feels logical that its female stars would receive the same pay as the male ones. And, thank goodness they did. 

There are tons of other examples of women standing up for themselves, and demanding better and equal pay for actresses. Michelle Williams spoke at the Democratic Women’s Caucus four years ago about her experience negotiating a higher salary after finding out her male costar was making a lot more than her. Emma Watson also gave a now-famous speech to the United Nations about feminism, women’s equality and equal pay. Plus many others, including Aunjanue Ellis, Meryl Streep and more have spoken out about women’s rights to make a fair and equal amount of money. Luckily, steps forward have been taken, but there’s still a lot of work to be done when it comes to closing the pay gap. 

Kelly Clarkson’s divorce is likely at the forefront of her mind right now, as she prepares to release her new album Chemistry. While she has promised the album won’t be all about heartbreak, the newest single “i hate love” kind of speaks for itself in that regard, so it’s probably not the most surprising thing that the talk show host is reflecting on possible red flags that she missed. Her joke on a recently aired episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show went viral, when she said Brandon Blackstock didn't give her a “push present” after the birth of their two children, but it left me wondering just how common this practice is.

Kelly Clarkson had apparently never heard of a push present — in which a mother is given a gift after having their baby. Her guests on the episode, Pink’s husband Carey Hart and Nick Jonas’ wife Priyanka Chopra, had to explain the whole concept to the host, leading Clarkson to lament: 

This was clearly said in jest, but it still seemed possibly a little harsh. Having had two children myself in the same timeframe as Kelly Clarkson (whose children were born in 2014 and 2016), I honestly don’t think push presents were a widely known thing back then. Even now I have to wonder if this is something more popular with celebrities or for people with more “bougie” proclivities. 

A quick poll of four of my closest girlfriends — all of whom also birthed children around the same time as the former coach of The Voice — confirmed that no gifts were received from their partners, nor were they expected. In fact, one friend responded to my question with only several crying laughing emojis.

Again, I understand that the slight shade Kelly Clarkson threw at Brandon Blackstock was at least mostly a joke, and she herself admitted that he probably also didn’t know what a push present was, saying: 

Kelly Clarkson certainly knows that marriage and parenting are hard enough without getting petty over something like a push present. Thinking back to those early days of parenthood, I was grateful to the point of tears for an extra hour of sleep! 

However, celebrities like Carey Hart and Priyanka Chopra clearly live in a completely different world than mine, where maybe it’s more customary for the father of your children to buy you a postpartum motorcycle. You can see the full conversation from The Kelly Clarkson Show’s YouTube page below: 

Kelly Clarkson has spoken before about red flags she missed during her marriage to Brandon Blackstock, saying that she doesn’t have any regrets about the relationship because she’s learned from it and has become a better person. She’s apparently still learning about certain things (like push presents), and maybe next she can find out whether or not there’s some kind of statute of limitations on how long one should wait for those gifts to come. Asking for myself and several friends. 

Very minor spoilers for Prime Video’s Citadel lie ahead.

Amazon Prime Video has released a number of major titles since its conception, and Citadel, which premiered at the end of April, is now a part of that roster. The espionage series is one of the most ambitious productions the streamer has ever produced, as it was shot in various places across the globe and features major set pieces. At the center of it all, though, are its two leads – Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. Both certainly know how to act, but they’ve also become quite adept at performing action sequences. Those skills apparently shone through while they worked on the drama series, according to one of its stunt coordinators, who also says they did “nearly all” of their own stunt work. 

James Young has worked with a lot of actors in his time, as he’s collaborated with dozens simply through the various Marvel Cinematic Universe films he’s done. Of course, each star brings something different to the table so, when I had the chance to speak to Young about his Citadel work, I couldn’t help but ask him what it was like collaborating with its main stars. The jovial stunt expert had nothing but good things to say about his colleagues while discussing how he and co-coordinator Don Theerathada felt out the actors’ skill sets early on: 

Those who’ve used a Prime Video subscription to stream Citadel surely know that the stars had to take part in some physically demanding scenes. The opening scene of the pilot alone exemplifies that perfectly, as their characters, Nadia Sinh and Mason Kane, get into a serious brawl on a train. There’s also that cabin fight that sees Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ Nadia going toe to toe with a brute. Speaking of Chopra Jonas, the stunt coordinator had even more praise to heap on her: 

The actress has been getting it done for quite a while now and seems to be truly committed to her craft. For instance, what you may not know about the Matrix star is that she even suffered a concussion while performing a stunt for her ABC drama, Quantico. Co-star Richard Madden is no slouch either, though, as you can see by his vast body of work. I had the chance to speak with him recently, and he explained that he’s learned a lot from doing stunts. Though that it must not be easy to take on all of that wear and tear, James Young suggests that the Eternals star usually gung ho when it comes to his work:

The seasoned stuntman summed both of the actors up as “brilliant” and, based on all of the work they’ve done, I’d say that’s definitely a fitting assessment. I also asked James Young if he could tease anything about this week’s season finale, and he’d only say that it’s “shocking, as it should be.” Still, I assume that Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas are going to get some sweet action-heavy moments to close things out. And if the show is renewed for a second season (and their characters survive this latest installment), they’ll likely have even more stunts to perform in the near future.

New episodes of Citadel hit Amazon Prime Video on Fridays as part of the 2023 TV schedule.

Zendaya, Anne Hathaway and Priyanka Chopra are all fashion icons in their own right. However, when you put them all in the same place and shower them with some gorgeous Bulgari jewels, they're like an unstoppable force. I say this because, the three actresses were seen hanging out in Venice together to celebrate the jeweler's new line, and they all looked stunning. 

The three women all showed up in jaw-dropping gowns, and seeing as they are all ambassadors for the luxury jewelry brand, they were rocking some iconic necklaces with their respective looks. Each look was incredibly different, and captured the women’s essence perfectly. As you can see in the photo below these powerhouses were dressed to the nines while literally and figuratively shining. 

Zendaya was rocking a custom Richard Quinn gown, according to Elle, with a slicked-back hairdo, and a beautiful diamond snake necklace (a signature Bulgari style). The star of the upcoming Dune: Part 2 has worn gorgeous jewels like this before, so this look was on par with some of her other shining fashion moments, including the time she rocked millions in jewelry at the SAG Awards. 

While the Challengers actress let the necklace shine by pairing it with a black dress, Anne Hathaway went in the other direction and rocked a look that was all sparkles. The magazine reported that the Princess Diaries star was wearing a silver and gold Atelier Versace dress. It featured a high leg slit and a dazzling gold hood, which is the second time this year Hathaway has gone for the chic hooded look. Rounding out the bejeweled ensemble, The Devil Wears Prada actress was wearing luxurious bright pink Bulgari jewelry. 

As for Priyanka Chopra, she rocked a stunning two-piece cranberry set with a matching lip and a rainbow Bulgari choker. Notably on the skirt the Love Again star is wearing, the ensemble is brought together with a gorgeous flower, which compliments her jewelry perfectly. 

All three of these women were part of Bulgari’s 2022 campaign “Unexpected Wonders.” Considering their statuses as fashion icons and the fact that all three have massive projects coming out this year, it makes perfect sense why the luxury jeweler wanted these actresses as the faces of their brand. 

As we continue to see films released on the 2023 movie schedule, all three actresses will be making appearances on it, and you can bet your bottom dollar they will be showing up to those premieres dressed to perfection. These exciting releases include:

• For Zendaya: Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers will hit theaters on September 15, and Dune: Part Two comes out on November 3. 
• For Anne Hathaway: She Came to Me and Elieen both premiered at film festivals earlier this year, and will like be released in theaters later in 2023. 
• For Priyanka Chopra: Her movie Love Again is currently in theaters, and you can check out her new show Citadel on the 2023 TV Schedule with an Amazon Prime subscription. 

If it wasn’t obvious by this extensive list, these women have tons of exciting projects coming out soon, and they have proven time and time again that not only are they fashion icons, but also powerhouses in the entertainment industry. So, as the year goes on, I’m sure we’ll be seeing more from Zendaya, Anne Hathaway and Priyanka Chopra both on the big screen and the red carpet, and if we’re really lucky hopefully we can see these Bulgari ambassadors together again.  

The world of romantic comedies and book-to-screen adaptations have converged in the form of Love Again. James C. Strouse’s adaptation of Sophie Cramer’s 2009 novel, SMS für Dich (which follows a grieving woman who sends romantic messages to her dead boyfriend’s old phone number every morning only for a reporter to receive them instead), is now in theaters, giving fans of the genre a chance to fall in love with its story and the actors who bring it to life.

There’s a good chance after watching Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Sam Heughan fall in love with one another, you’re wondering where you’ve seen the Love Again cast before. Well, worry no longer, for we have put together a list of why everyone looks so familiar. Well, except for Celine Dion, because who can forget her?

Priyanka Chopra Jonas (Mira Ray)

Priyanka Chopra Jonas plays one of the leads in Love Again with her portrayal of Mira Ray, a children’s book author and illustrator still struggling to overcome the death of her boyfriend two years ago. But, her journey of grief takes a drastic turn upon meeting Rob Burns.

An accomplished actress in her native India and Hollywood, Chopra Jonas has appeared in movies like The Hero, Krrish, Baywatch, Isn’t It Romantic, We Can Be Heroes, and The Matrix Resurrections. Her TV work is just as impressive, having led Quantico, and worked on the HBO Max hidden gem A World of Calm, and most recently, led the Prime Video original series, Citadel. 

Sam Heughan (Rob Burns)

Playing opposite Priyanka Chopra Jonas in the Love Again cast is Sam Heughan, who takes on the role of Rob Burns, the journalist who begins to fall in love with Mira after receiving texts sent to her dead boyfriend's old phone number.

Diehard fans of Outlander will instantly recognize Heughan from his portrayal of Jamie Fraser on the show that is about to kick off its seventh season. Let’s be real, though, even those who haven’t watched the show probably know about Heughan at this point. His other TV series include Men in Kilts: A Roadtrip with Sam and Graham, Suspect, and the upcoming, tantalizing The Couple Next Door. Heughan hasn’t made nearly as many film appearances over the years, but his list of credits is impressive with the likes of The Spy Who Dumped Me, Bloodshot, SAS: Red Notice, and multiple others. 

Celine Dion (Celine Dion)

Celine Dion shows up in the rom-com, playing a version of herself who works with Rob on his journey to find true love.

Throughout her decades-long singing career, which includes songs like “All By Myself,” “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now,” and the megahit “My Heart Will Go On” from the Titanic soundtrack, the multi-time Grammy winner has appeared in a handful of movies like Quest for Camelot and Muppets Most Wanted. She has also portrayed herself before on shows like The Nanny, Touched by an Angel, and Hell’s Kitchen. 

Russell Tovey (Billy)

Russell Tovey is in the film as Billy, Rob’s friend and colleague who helps him branch out more.

Throughout his career, which dates back to the mid ‘90s, Tovey has appeared on TV shows like Agatha Christie’s Poirot, The Bill, Doctor Who, Being Human, Sherlock, Looking, Quantico (alongside Priyanka Chopra Jonas), Years and Years, and most recently American Horror Story: NYC. Tovey has also made several film appearances throughout his career, including movies like The Lady in the Van, The Pass, The Good Liar, Allelujah, and a small part in Muppets Most Wanted, which also featured future Love Again co-star Celine Dion. 

Sofia Barclay (Suzy) 

The cast also includes Sofia Barclay, who takes on the role of Mira Ray’s supportive sister, Suzy, who tries desperately to get her back into the dating world.

Though probably not as recognizable as other members of the cast, Barclay has been quite busy since making her professional acting debut back in 2010. This includes small roles on shows like Beyond the Blade, Defending the Guilty, NYPD Blue, and We Are Lady Parts. Barclay also joined the Ted Lasso cast for a single episode during the Apple TV+ original series’ second season. She has also appeared in multiple short films over the years.

Lydia West (Lisa)

Lydia West shows up here as Lisa, another one of Rob's friends from work, one who is wise and savvy, but also extremely cynical when it comes to things like love.

Fans of Russell T. Davies’ drama series like Years and Years (alongside Love Again co-star Russell Tovey) and It’s a Sin will instantly recognize West from her star-making performances on two outstanding shows. But, if not that, then maybe fans of the 2022 BBC One and Netflix series, Inside Man, will remember the actress from her portrayal of crime journalist Beth Davenport. West has also appeared on shows like Dracula, Suspicion, and The Pentaverate. 

Arinzé Kene (John)

Arinzé Kene appears in the Love Again cast as John, Mira Ray’s deceased boyfriend whose old cell phone number was later picked up by Rob, starting the whole romantic journey at the heart of the movie.

Probably best known for his portrayal of Connor Stanley on EastEnders, Kene has also appeared on shows like Youngers, Crazyhead, Flack, and Informer. His film appearances include the likes of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, How to Build a Girl, Been So Long, and I’m Your Woman.

And then there is Nick Jonas, who makes a brief appearance in a scene in which he goes on an awkward date with Mira, who is played by his real-life wife, Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

He’s also landed small-screen gigs on shows like Kingdom, Scream Queens, and Hawaii Five-0, to name a few.

Stories about amnesiac spies — such as the Jason Bourne movies, the 2015 action-comedy American Ultra, or the Arnold Schwarzenegger-led sci-fi classic, Total Recall — are almost too common these days. However, the new, action-packed, romantic Amazon Prime original TV show, Citadel, has such exciting and acclaimed talent from both behind the camera — Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo serve as executive producers — and in front of it that you will likely forget about the familiar elements of its plot pretty quickly. Speaking of the talent in front of the camera, let’s dive into who plays whom in the Citadel cast and refresh your memory about some of the most notable, previous roles on their resumes so far.

Richard Madden (Mason Kane)

As Mason Kane — a man whose past as an elite secret agent was wiped from his memory years earlier — we have Richard Madden, whose previous modern action thriller credits include 2016's The Take and the hit Netflix original miniseries, Bodyguard. 

However, the Scottish actor is better known for period dramas, like his stint in the Game of Thrones cast, his charming portrayal of the prince in Disney’s live-action remake of Cinderella, and his brief, but pivotal, cameo in the Oscar-winning war drama, 1917. Madden also played Elton John’s former manager and lover, John Reid, in Rocketman and became a part of the MCU when he joined the Eternals cast as Ikaris.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas (Nadia Sinh)

Nadia Sinh — a fellow amnesiac recruited back into the titular agency as Kane’s partner — is played by Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who last played a special agent in her breakout American TV role on ABC’s Quantico. 

On the big screen, the former Miss World pageant winner has leant her voice to Disney Animation’s 2013 movie, Planes, played the villain in 2017’s Baywatch, starred in a few Netflix original movies, like 2021’s The White Tiger, which she also executive produced, and appeared in the Matrix Resurrections cast as Sati. After starring in a parody of rom-coms called Isn’t it Romantic in 2019, Chopra Jonas would later appear in a real 2023 rom-com called Love Again — in which her real-life husband, Nick Jonas, makes a cameo.

Stanley Tucci (Bernard Orlick) 

Playing Kane and Sinh’s former boss, Bernard Orlick, is the multi-talented Academy Award nominee (for 2009’s The Lovely Bones) Stanley Tucci, who, like Madden, is also part of the MCU, having played Dr. Erskine in Captain America: The First Avenger and again in a voice role on Disney+’s animated anthology for the What If…? cast. 

The extremely versatile and vastly underrated actor behind countless great performances has done everything from earnest biographical dramas (such as the 2016 Best Picture Oscar winner, Spotlight), to light comedies (like The Devil Wears Prada, alongside his sister-in-law, Emily Blunt), and even dystopian young adult novel adaptations (he stole the show from the Hunger Games cast as Caesar Flickerman).

Lesley Manville (Dahlia Archer)

As the British Ambassador to the United States, Dahlia Archer, we have Academy Award nominee (for 2017’s Phantom Thread) Lesley Manville, who revealed in an interview with Deadline that, despite her major role on the series, she will not be watching Citadel as she “can’t watch violence.” 

Many of her most notable credits are far tamer than the action-thriller title — such as Robert Zemeckis’ animated A Christmas Carol adaptation from 2009; Disney’s dark, live-action reimagining of Sleeping Beauty, Maleficent, and its sequel; Netflix’s The Crown (on which she plays Princess Margaret), and her charming performance in the title role of 2022’s Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris.

Osy Ikhile (Carter Spence)

Before he was cast as Citadel agent Carter Spence, Osy Ikhile made his major motion picture debut in the small part of a “CIA Jet Agent” in the fifth installment of the Mission: Impossible movies franchise, 2015’s Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation. He would then go on to appear in larger roles in films like Ron Howard’s retelling of the story that inspired Moby Dick, In the Heart of the Sea; a reimagining of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ iconic ape man, The Legend of Tarzan; one of the best episodes of Black Mirror (“U.S.S. Callister”); and many video games, including Hitman 2 and and Jurassic World Evolution. 

Ashleigh Cummings (Abby Conroy) 

As Abby — the wife of “Kyle Conroy,” the name Kane has gone by since his memory wipe — we have Ashleigh Cummings, who (like many other Australian-raised actors) is known for her stint on the long-running soap opera, Home and Away, which she followed up with more notable TV credits that include the period noir series Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries (starring The Babadook’s Essie Davis in the title role) and the Joe Hill novel-inspired horror TV series, NOS4A2. 

She also played the victim of one of Australia’s most infamous abduction cases, as depicted in 2016’s Hounds of Love, starred in Amazon’s adaptation of John Crowley’s The Goldfinch in 2019, and, more recently, starred in the 2022 mystery thriller, Vide Noir, which was developed as a companion film to Lord Huron’s third studio album of the same name. 

Roland Møller (Anders Silje/Davik Silje) 

The roles of twin brothers Anders and Davik Silje — who are also top agents for Citadel’s rival agency, Manticore — are both played by Roland Møller, who has previously shown skill at playing a bad guy opposite Charlize Theron in 2017’s Atomic Blonde and opposite Dwayne Johnson in 2018’s Skyscraper. However, the Danish actor has shown his softer side in roles like an average civilian in the 2018 Liam Neeson-led action thriller, The Commuter, and an ex-con trying to make good in one of the best non-horror movies on Shudder, A Bluebird in My Heart.  

Caoilinn Springall (Hendrix Conroy)

As Kane and Abby’s daughter, Hendrix, we have Caoilinn Springal, whose name is pronounced “kay-o-lin spring-all”. The young actor made her acting debut at 7 years old in Netflix’s post-apocalyptic sci-fi drama, The Midnight Sky, alongside star and director George Clooney, in 2020.

Nikki Amuka-Bird (Grace)

Also appearing in the Citadel cast in the role of Grace is BAFTA-Award nominee (for the 2016 TV movie, NW) Nikki Amuka-Bird, who is probably best known to U.S. audiences for her roles in M. Night Shyalmalan movies — namely Old and Knock at the Cabin. Before then, the Nigerian-born, U.K.-raised actor had a recurring role on the hit British crime drama, Luther, opposite Idris Elba, appeared in the Wachowskis’ 2015 sci-fi epic, Jupiter Ascending, in 2015, and would poke fun at the sci-fi genre with a starring role on HBO’s Avenue 5.

Even before Citadel hit its official premiere date on the 2023 TV schedule, the action-packed series had already been renewed for a second season by Amazon. Looks like we might be seeing more of this talented, butt-kicking ensemble and — you know what? We are here for it… as long as we don’t forget about them.

It seemed like Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas had a whirlwind romance. From only officially dating for a few months before getting engaged to their opulent wedding, everything seemed like it was out of a little storybook. However, the Citadel star revealed that she actually judged Jonas poorly at first, and it took a couple of years worth of convincing before she agreed to go out with her future husband, and she recently explained the amusing reason why she finally agreed to date the Jonas Brother. 

Chopra Jonas revealed that she and Nick Jonas went on their first date in May 2018 and got engaged in August of the same year to Dax Shepard on Armchair Expert. However, she clarified that they had met a couple of years earlier, and ended up playing the long game before the actress agreed to go out with the singer. She explained that in 2016 she was in a “tumultuous relationship,” and she had friends in common with her future husband who thought they’d be a good fit. Considering the ten-year age gap between the two it makes sense why she was not all that into the idea of dating him at first, however, she soon realized:

In hindsight, it’s quite amusing to think about how Chopra Jonas had already found her perfect match, but she had been reluctant to pursue the relationship. However, eventually, she did, because she realized Nick Jonas had all the qualities she was looking for. She elaborated on these five points, and how her husband met them, saying:

Shepard then took a guess, saying he thought Chopra’s ideal man needed to be confident, and the pageant-queen-turned-actress agreed. The last point she mentioned was how she wanted “someone who [she] looked up to,” and the actress praised her husband's work ethic and thoughtfulness while talking about this quality. 

So, while that might have been the moment she realized she should date him, the moment she realized she loved him was also amazing. The Baywatch star explained this moment came “the first time” she saw him working in a studio. He was conducting a choir, and Chopra Jonas said her “knees buckled” watching him work. 

Now, the two have been married for about six years, and they have a daughter too. Also, as they raise their little girl, both have thriving careers. Nick Jonas is getting ready to release The Album with the Jonas Brothers, which will be their second album post-reunion. While Priyanka Chopra Jonas has an upcoming movie on the 2023 film schedule called Love Again and a series on the 2023 TV schedule titled Citadel, which will be available to stream with an Amazon Prime subscription. 

Overall, it seems like this power couple has it made. Due to Chopra Jonas’ non-negotiables, she found her perfect man, and now they both have thriving careers and a lovely little family. 

In a world where shows get canceled left and right, taken off streaming services altogether and jump from one platform to another, now we’ve added some unlikely renewal news into the mix. Amazon Prime announced that it would be renewing two of its originals, A League of Their Own and Citadel. However, for the remake of the Penny Marshall classic, this renewal news is bad because its second season will be shortened, and for Citadel it’s grand news because Season 1 hasn’t even premiered yet. Overall, both renewals are unique, and a little confusing, so let's break it down.

A League Of Their Own Will End With A Shortened Second Season 

A League of Their Own series got surprising and disappointing news about its second season. THR reported that the remake series will come to a close with Season 2, and it will only be four episodes.

The queer take on Penny Marshall’s classic film has been in negotiations for months, and according to the article the showrunners, Will Graham and Abbi Jacobson, who is also a lead on the series, ended with a deal that A League of Their Own will conclude with Season 2 and it will be half the length of its first installment. According to the article, the A League of Their Own cast had to sign new deals too since Season 2 will only be four episodes, and it’s been reported that Amazon and Sony are still closing on the deals. 

Amazon and Sony Pictures Television have reportedly gone back and forth to lower the show’s licensing fee from Sony. Sources said that Graham and Jacobson were working really hard to get a Season 2 renewal for their beloved series, and Sony ended up giving Amazon a reduced licensing fee. However, the streamer wanted to cut costs on the show, which may be why Season 2 will only be four episodes. 

Citadel Quickly Got Renewed For Season 2

Citadel hasn’t even premiered on Amazon Prime yet, and the streamer has already renewed it for a second season, THR reported. The series led by Bodyguard’s Richard Madden and Quantico’s Priyanka Chopra Jonas and created by The Russo Brothers is on the 2023 TV schedule for an April 28 debut, and we already know that another season is on the way. 

This series has been in development since 2018, with the goal of becoming a massive, global “event series,” as Amazon Studios boss Jennifer Salke said. Citadel already has an Indian adaptation in the works at Amazon, and it’s possible that this show will become a very important franchise for the streamer. 

The report also mentioned that this series is on track to be the second-most-expensive series at Amazon, only behind Rings of Power, as they’ve reportedly spent $200 million on the show. 

While we still haven’t seen Season 1, the second season will see David Weil return as the showrunner, and Joe and Anthony Russo are expected to direct a few episodes. Based on how swiftly the show got renewed, it seems like it might have the potential to become one of Priyanka Chopra Jonas’, Stanley Tucci’s and Richard Madden’s best projects. However, we won't know that for sure until we see the first season, and either way, we know we'll get Season 2.

Overall, it’s exciting that we’ll get to see these two shows again, but I’m a bit shocked about how things shook out. A League of Their Own came out last summer and this news comes seven months later, meanwhile, Citadel got renewed before we’ve even seen a single episode. Although the world of streaming has been mixing things up with how they release and renew shows, so I guess this news about these Amazon Prime shows fits the precedent that’s been set by companies like Netflix and HBO Max. 

It’s unclear when the second seasons for both these series will come out, however, you can watch A League of Their Own’s first season right now and Citadel starting April 28 on Prime Video. 

Closing the gender pay gap remains on the to-do list across numerous countries and cultures around the world. And when it comes to the differences in pay checks between men and women in the movie and television industry, the pay gap prevails. Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who has found success in Bollywood and Hollywood, recently shared her own experiences dealing with acting salaries over the years. 

On average, for every dollar men earn, women earn 77 cents. When speaking to her time working in India’s film industry, Chopra Jonas said this: 

When speaking to the Independent, Priyanka Chopra Jonas shared an unfortunate pay gap between genders in so much worse than the United States is dealing with. She got real about Indian women making 90% less as a male actor. Even more surprising is the fact that even today, the actress believes she would make the same amount despite being such a huge name. Chopra Jonas continued by saying this: 

Priyanka Chopra Jonas made a name for herself as the lead of ABC’s Quantico from 2015 to 2018, where she played one of the best South Asian characters in recent TV. Since then, she’s starred in numerous Hollywood films, like being part of the cast of The Matrix Resurrections, along with getting into producing on projects like Blumhouse horror movie Evil Eye and Netflix’s The White Tiger. Chopra Jonas has shared that her “quest” as a producer is to “influx Hollywood with brown people, because we don't see enough of us.” 

When it comes to South Asian and Indian representation in Hollywood, Chopra Jonas also told the outlet that she thinks there’s “still a long way to go” even though she believes she’s built a “certain amount of credibility” in her own career and is “doing interesting work.” There are plenty of upcoming Priyanka Chopra Jonas movies and TV coming our way too. 

Among them is a 2023 movie release called Love Again starring the actress alongside Outlander’s Sam Heughan. It’s a romantic comedy based on the novel Text For You and is about a woman who loses her fiancé and decides to send romantic texts to his old cell phone number, which leads her to form a new connection with the man the number was reassigned to. The movie is set to be released on May 12. As Chopra continues to thrive in her career in Hollywood and Bollywood, it’s certainly insightful to know her thoughts on the pay gap. 

After many years of South Asian characters in movies and TV being largely stereotypical side characters, there’s recently been a shift in Hollywood. In recent years, there are more and more examples of leading characters played by actors who have roots in India and Pakistan, among other locations in South Asia. Plus, they tell stories that don’t put them into a small boxes, and represent a larger experience that is what representation in film and TV is all about. 

We all deserve to be seen on the big and small screen, and characters like these open more doors for this community that makes up 25 percent of the population of the world. From regency romance to a Marvel superhero, we’re celebrating some recent great South Asian characters in movies and television. Check it out: 

Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley) - Bridgerton

Bridgerton became the talk of the ton in 2020 when the Netflix series became the most successful original TV show for the streaming service. For the recent Season 2, Julia Quinn’s The Viscount Who Loved Me was adapted for television with its lead Kate played by British-Indian Sex Education actress, Simone Ashley. For the romance, the character was altered slightly to be Kate Sharma instead of Sheffield, with her and her family’s backstory being from India. The 2022 season seamlessly infused Indian culture into Kate and her sister Edwina’s identity whilst also ushering in an Indian lead of a romance set in the Regency era and for a very mainstream series. 

Ruben Stone (Riz Ahmed) - Sound Of Metal 

When it comes to South Asian actors being considered for award season buzz, oftentimes the storylines have been around starring in a story about and set in their home country such as 1982’s Gandhi and 2008’s Slumdog Millionaire. Riz Ahmed changed this when he received an Oscar nomination for Sound Of Metal, becoming the first Pakistani actor and first Muslim actor to be included in the Best Actor category. In the drama, Ahmed plays a drummer in a metal band and drug addict who loses his hearing and must join a shelter for deaf recovering addicts. Ahmed’s incredible performance included the actor learning American Sign Language and how to drum like a pro. 

Dev Shah (Aziz Ansari) - Master Of None

After Aziz Ansari ascended into popularity on Parks and Recreation as the sarcastic and entrepreneurial Tom Haverford, the comedian created his own series in Netflix’s Master of None. The show, which he also starred in and wrote, really showed the actor’s personal perspective as an actor and Indian-American immigrant through a somewhat fictional lens. One especially memorable episode is called “Indians on TV” where he touches on how Indian actors are often expected to be stereotypes with heavy accents. In the most recent season of the show, Ansari took a step back from starring to highlight Lena Waithe’s character while he showcased his impressive directorial approach. 

Lucy Gulliver (Geraldine Viswanathan) - The Broken Hearts Gallery

The romantic comedy is a beloved genre, but over the years it has been plagued with the same faces and tropes over and over again. In 2020, though, Aussie actress Geraldine Viswanathan got to shine as the lead of The Broken Hearts Gallery alongside Stranger Things’ Dacre Montgomery. In the movie, Viswanathan plays a young woman who recently suffered a breakup and decides to start a gallery devoted to fallen relationships. The movie delivers a quality and unique rom-com that allows its half-Indian (of Tamil ancestry) main character / actress to lead the type of movie that has gone to white actresses over the years, and without her identity having to be her core personality trait, either.

Javed Khan (Viveik Kalra) - Blinded By The Light

Blinded By The Light premiered at the Sundance Film Festival before becoming a beloved (yet underrated) dramedy in 2019. The movie, directed by Gurinder Chadha, who previously made history as the helmer of Bend It Like Beckham, is about the son of Pakistani migrant parents, Javed, who falls in love with Bruce Springsteen’s music and uses it as an inspiration to write his own poetry. The story is inspired by the life of journalist Sarfraz Manzoor, who co-wrote the Blinded By The Light script. The movie and the character of Javed show how music can speak to and connect with anyone, including an immigrant kid who feels otherwise like an outsider in his life. 

Mindy Lahiri (Mindy Kaling) - The Mindy Project 

After Mindy Kaling wrote for and portrayed Kelly Kapoor on The Office, the comedian pitched her own comedy to FOX, The Mindy Project. She created, produced and starred in the series about a gynecologist’s attempts to balance her personal and professional life. The series that aired for six seasons brought Indian representation to television in a big way, with Kaling becoming the first Indian American to have her own TV show on a major network, and in a way that wasn’t solely focused on her ethnicity, but addressing the life of a working career woman, and later, motherhood.  

Sheriff Hassan (Rahul Kohli) - Midnight Mass

Mike Flanagan’s incredible Netflix horror franchise continued in 2021 with an original series called Midnight Mass, which served as an existential discussion about faith alongside its scares. Among the cast was the groundbreaking character of Sheriff Hassan, played by Rahul Kohli (previously in The Haunting of Bly Manor and iZombie). He played the island’s sheriff, who is a Muslim who struggles with his teenage son to fit into the town’s predominantly Catholic population. Within the series, Midnight Mass beautifully represents a South Asian Muslim family and their difficulties in the western world as all the spooky things take place. 

Rhea Kumar (Avantika Vandanapu) - Spin

Disney Channel is known for propelling young stars into mega stardom, such as Zendaya, Miley Cyrus, and Zac Efron, with their original films and TV shows. In 2021, the network made a massive move in representation by releasing the new DCOM, Spin, which is about an Indian-American teen who works at her tight-knit family’s restaurant, but realizes her true passion is to be an EDM DJ. The movie highlights Indian culture in a beautiful way and allows its young star, Avantika Vandanapu, to shine in a breakout performance. 

Alex Parrish (Priyanka Chopra Jonas) - Quantico

Another network television win for a great South Asian character is Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ leading role in the ABC series, Quantico. The Indian A-lister moved to the American market to star in the thrilling drama about an FBI agent who becomes the prime suspect of a terrorist attack. It’s another first, with the actress becoming the first Indian actor to lead a primetime drama on American TV. But, Chopra Jonas also did so by playing a charismatic, badass, and intriguing character during the series’ three seasons. 

Sir Gawain (Dev Patel) - The Green Knight

Medieval epics have always been led by white men, but David Lowery’s 2021 adaptation of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight gave Dev Patel a unique role in that space. The existentialist storyline allowed Patel to deliver a meaty performance that comments on the hero’s journey in a refreshing (yet taxing) trudge to meet the Green Knight. Patel’s performance is one of the best of 2021 and should have really gotten more Oscar recognition. 

Devi Vishwakumar (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) - Never Have I Ever 

Following Mindy Kaling’s The Mindy Project, she moved behind the scenes completely to create Never Have I Ever, a coming of age Netflix series. It stars newcomer Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, who hails from Canada and was born to Tamil parents. It is loosely based on Kaling’s childhood experiences, as it follows an Indian-American Tamil high school student dealing with the sudden death of her father, who decides to change her social status, though it does not come easy. The show is much like a lot of high school series in a lot of ways, but it also adds the layers of her grappling and balancing her Indian-American identity as well. 

Kingo (Kumail Nanjiani) - Eternals 

After Kumail Nanjiani made waves as a Pakistani-American comedian, writer, and actor in projects like Silicon Valley and The Big Sick, he was cast as the first South Asian superhero in Marvel’s Eternals. Not only does the movie include a big-screen Bollywood dance sequence, but Nanjiani got super ripped to take on the role because he wanted to make sure the first Pakistani superhero “could hang with Thor and Captain America.” Kingo is an Eternal and flashy actor who continued this breaking of stereotypes and continues to show Hollywood that South Asian actors have range and can fit in all genres far and wide.  

In just the past few years, there’s been an uptick in South Asian representation and a lot of different firsts for its large population in the framework of Hollywood. Here’s to more great South Asian characters in the years ahead. We’ll look out for more examples of them in new TV shows and upcoming movie releases. 

Singer Nick Jonas and actress Priyanka Chopra have been married since 2018, and now the couple has come forward with some great (and surprising) news. They are officially parents after the birth of their first child! The impending arrival of the baby didn't make news prior to the birth due to their use of a surrogate. Congratulations to the new parents!

The two celebrities made the announcement of the birth of their first child via social media, with Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra posting messages almost simultaneously on their respective Instagram accounts, with a heart emoji and tag of each other as the only captions. They both wrote: 

The news of the birth of their child (whose name and sex have not been disclosed at the time of writing) comes just months after rumors swirled that the couple was on the verge of splitting and were known to sometimes have to spend significant periods of time apart due to their jobs, although Chopra did what she could to dispel those rumors by getting flirty with her husband. Hopefully fans respect their wish for privacy while they enjoy their time with their child. 

Their lack of public statement about having a baby on the way, combined with the use of a surrogate, has meant that many people have been taken by surprise by the happy news. Plus, the most recent post from either of the new parents was an Instagram Story that Priyanka Chopra shared about 12 hours before announcing the arrival of their baby, and it was completely unrelated to any sign that she was already or soon to be a mother, but instead giving "kudos" to Unicef India. 

The congratulations have poured in on both of their Instagram posts, including a verified heart emoji comment from two of the other three Jonas brothers (not to be confused with the Jonas Brothers band): Joe Jonas and Kevin Jonas, who are now uncles yet again. Joe is already father to one child with wife (and Game of Thrones alum) Sophie Turner, while Kevin is father to two daughters. The extended Jonas family just keeps getting bigger!

Only time will tell what's next for the happy couple upon the birth of their first child. Both have successful careers, with another series starring Chopra expected to debut later in 2022 alongside Game of Thrones' Richard Madden, and she made her big break into American pop culture when she starred in ABC's Quantico starting back in 2015. For his part, Jonas has continued working on projects with his brothers, along with joining The Voice as a coach, not to mention some promotion for the 2021 Olympics with his brothers that delivered some big laughs.

Mystery is a key portion of what makes The Matrix film series work as a mind-bending action blowout. Returning to that franchise for the first time in almost 20 years, co-writer/director Lana Wachowski still has that understanding in her work, thanks to the fact that aside from Keanu Reeves’ Neo and Carrie-Anne Moss’ Trinity, we don’t know that much about the new cast involved. That’s about to change, as this winter’s The Matrix Resurrections may have confirmed three mysterious character identities, as well as given a huge hint to another actor’s potential role, and this could be massive.

Priyanka Chopra Is, In Fact, Playing Sati

The first huge confirmation we’ve gotten, thanks to Warner Bros. Korea’s Instagram marketing, is that Priyanka Chopra is in fact playing Sati. Why this is so important will be discussed in a moment, but let’s first look at what confirmed this casting. If you take a look at that Instagram post, it shows off a recent poster that depicted Ms. Chopra’s character. Translating the caption from Korean to English, here’s what this message roughly says:

A crucial character in the later installments of the Matrix trilogy, we last saw Sati as a young girl with promising power, resurrected after Neo’s final fight with Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving). The path for her character is still unknown, with Enter The Matrix’s big message from The Oracle (Mary Alice) stating that she will be very important to the future of machines and humanity. Scratching one question off of The Matrix 4 wish list, we can now begin to look at the other characters being teased in a similar fashion.

Jessica Henwick’s Character Is Named Bugs

Looking further down the line of the posters that also gave us our best look at the new Morpheus, played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, The Matrix Resurrections’ marketing campaign has also confirmed another figure that we've known about for roughly several months. Jessica Henwick’s mysterious character is part of this same marketing run, and quite fittingly, she’s named Bugs, which is a sort of double-edged name in this world of simulated freedom fighting. The most obvious facet is that, much like any digital system has bugs that fundamentally alter things, Henwick’s character is doing just that by aiding Neo. 

It wouldn’t be The Matrix if there wasn’t another level of meaning though, and “Bugs” is also a fitting name for this new figure because of an easter egg she possesses from the original films. Just as Thomas Anderson followed the white rabbit to become Neo, his newly reincarnated self will have to repeat that history, thanks to Bugs having that exact tattoo on her shoulder. As it turns out, Warner Bros.' brand synergy works outside of Space Jam legacy-quels and fighting games; and this new character seems to be on the same level of importance as Morpheus, seeing as we've known about the two of them for approximately the same amount of time.

Meet Neil Patrick Harris, A.K.A. Analyst

Here’s where things get a little murky, but still very much intriguing. Throughout the teases to Neil Patrick Harris’ piece to the Matrix puzzle, we’ve seen him operate as a therapist to Thomas Anderson/Neo in this new world. So the name “Analyst” shouldn’t come as a surprise, as it fits his job description to a tee. Thinking a little harder on that title, and the past history of The Matrix Resurrections’ predecessors, another theory starts to arise. What if all of these intimate scenes between “The Analyst” and Thomas reveal that this supposed therapist is really “The Architect 2.0”?

Introduced in The Matrix Reloaded, The Architect (Helmut Bakaitis) met Neo at a crucial phase in his journey as The One, and laid out the concept of The Matrix and his involvement in its inner workings. After which, The Architect gave Neo a choice: wipe the slate clean for a new round or potentially crash the entire Matrix and exterminate humanity. Maybe in his new form, which also seems to involve constantly sitting and moderating/monitoring Neo’s choices, The Analyst is the key to keeping both sides of the fence in line? 

There’s A Matrix Character Poster That’s Conspicuously Missing

All of the information that’s come from this new source of clues to The Matrix Resurrections has highlighted an interesting absence in the lineup. Most of this was already shared throughout international markets, as we’ve seen in the domestic campaign for the next adventure. Comparing the two sources however, one character is conspicuously missing from these revelations: the mysterious presence played by Jonathan Groff. Taking a look at the photo evidence below, there’s an obvious theory as to why he’s MIA: 

What kind of caption or character name to you use to accompany that poster that would even begin to hide the intent of Mr. Groff’s would-be antagonist? Though come to think of it, even with this poster giving off a serious vibe that we saw with Hugo Weaving’s Agent Smith teaser poster for The Matrix Reloaded, there’s still room for argument. Seeing as this fresh man of mystery also gets to reenact a key moment in Neo’s Matrix journey, the path isn’t exactly clear. 

Why These Characters Could Be Massive Pieces In The Matrix Resurrections

While previous announcements have leaned heavily on 1999’s The Matrix as the key to this new saga, the sequels are clearly in play thanks to Sari’s presence. Also, seeing figures like Morpheus and The Merovingian either totally reskinned or altered tremendously means that we’re not just going back to relive that first movie. They weren’t kidding when they said this isn’t merely a sequel, as The Matrix Resurrections seems to be an upgraded version of the original. 

The Matrix is literally rebooted, with figures, events and even footage from the first installment playing a key part in whatever this new puzzle happens to spell out. Whatever happens next is taking into account the entire trilogy that came before it, which speaks to the changes that have been made. And for once, Neo might not be the key to the future, as Sati’s return and The Oracle’s cryptic prophecy of her importance might be fulfilled, should those potential sequels happen.

We’ve still got some time before The Matrix Resurrections hits theaters and HBO Max on December 22nd. That’s a lot of space to be filled with ads from all over the world, slowly revealing secrets in bite sized pieces that string together to make... something. What that is probably won’t be the entire truth, as much like a good Christmas gift, you should only give enough hints to get everyone sitting around the tree. 

If there is one true pastime across the world which doesn’t involve the use of sports balls and manages to blast right through any potential cultural barriers, it is speculation over the romantic lives of the rich and famous. We love to talk about who might be dating, marrying, and / or divorcing, and after a whirlwind courtship and lavish wedding, rumors of the latter have now hit Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra. But, after such talk of a split began, Chopra found time to get mighty flirty with her husband online.

Now, while we’ve talked before about how Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas seem to spend very little time together, even for a super-busy actress / pop star mega-couple, there haven’t been major rumors about them potentially splitting until just recently. And, after fans began to speculate on the state of their marriage last week, Chopra decided to get her Instagram flirt on after Jonas posted a short video of himself working on his arm strength. Let’s take a look at his post, and then put a spotlight on Chopra’s response:

OK, so, nice job Jonas. He’s got those guns workin’ and veins poppin.’ Plenty of fans loved the look of what the sometime The Voice coach had going on, and even though we’ve certainly seen other celebs working out with much heavier weights and giving us much bigger biceps, no one is going to complain about his efforts here. That includes his wife of nearly three years, and Chopra left this flirty comment on his post:

Well, it would seem that Priyanka Chopra is still a big fan of what Nick Jonas is throwing down. I mean, just look at those emojis! So, how did rumors of an impending split even get started for these two? The answer is actually easy to see in the above comment, as Chopra dropped the Jonas part of her surname just last week.

After the duo married in a three-day wedding celebration, which took place during the first weekend of December in 2018, fans saw the Quantico star (who will be seen in The Matrix Resurrections soon), add her new husband’s name to hers professionally, and on all her social media. But, just last week, her sharp-eyed followers noticed that she removed the name without making any mention of why. This, of course, led many people to think that a divorce announcement must be imminent. 

It was just early this month that Jonas and Chopra celebrated Diwali together, and Chopra took to Instagram to reflect on both their first celebration of the holiday in their “first home together,” and Jonas as “the best husband and partner,” but many fans who live for the intricacies of the romantic lives of superstars are unlikely to take either that, or her recent comment, as a sign that all is well.

The truth, as we know by now, is that if Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra are having trouble, they don’t have to tell anyone if they don’t want to. She could have easily decided to drop her married name for a professional reason that has nothing to do with the state of their union. This means that it would probably be a good idea for all of us to just wait and see what happens, and to continue to wish them the best, regardless of their relationship status. 

Sci-fi fans aren’t the only ones excited for The Matrix Resurrections. While the long-awaited sequel is gearing up for a holiday release, the film’s stars are dressing to the nines for a marathon of promotional events across the globe. The most recent? Priyanka Chopra and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. 

In between hanging out with her husband Nick Jonas and modeling for Bvlgari, Priyanka Chopra has been promoting The Matrix Resurrections alongside her fellow cast members. She kicked off her obligatory round of interviews with an appearance in London alongside Emmy winner Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who will play a version of Laurence Fishburne’s Morpheus. Check out her celebratory Insta post below: 

The pair was joined by co-star Jessica Henwick, who portrays new character Bugs. Priyanka Chopra and Jessica accessorized with simple gold jewelry, but opted for a black tuxedo bustier (no word on the designer, but it’s giving Tom Ford-meets-Mugler energy) and a neutral off-the-shoulder top respectively. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II wore a top from Look 23 of the Bottega Veneta Fall 2021 Ready-To-Wear collection by Daniel Lee. His love for the designer seems to be an ongoing affair -  he donned several Bottega looks when he covered the December issue of British GQ, including a fabulous green leather button-up. He’s also been known to sport luxe streetwear brands like Fear of God. 

The fashion of The Matrix was well known for its signature aesthetic, a mix of pleather on pleather, black on black, and tiny sunglasses. Costumes for the first three films were designed by Kym Barrett, who went on to work on films like Aquaman and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. While she’s not returning for The Matrix Resurrections, her futuristic influence is evident in the film’s trailer - it only takes one look at the sleek shades on Jessica Henwick or Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s long black coat to prove that. 

The Matrix Resurrections will mark the first appearance in the sci-fi saga for Priyanka Chopra, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Jessica Henwick. Other series newcomers include Neil Patrick Harris, Jonathan Groff (whose mouth was sewn shut in the trailer in a manner eerily similar to Neo’s from the first film), and Christina Ricci. Of course, it just wouldn’t be The Matrix without Neo or Trinity, but not to worry - Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss receive top billing. Series alum Jada Pinkett Smith will also return as Niobe. The Wachowskis are represented by director Lana, making The Matrix Resurrections the first film in the series to not be directed by both sisters.

Suffice to say, Baywatch didn't make a big splash when it premiered in 2017. Based on NBC's long-running (and fondly remembered) action-drama series of the same name, the R-rated comedy clearly tried to mimic the unlikely irreverent success of Phil Lord and Chris Miller's 21 and 22 Jump Street, though Seth Gordon's farcical take on the oceanside material didn't reach the same commercial or critical heights. Nevertheless, Baywatch featured a starry cast, including Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario, and Priyanka Chopra, along with a pre-fame turn from Yahya Al-Mateen II. Though the tide wasn't strong with this one, the comedy didn't hurt these actors' stride. They're still making waves, and we're here to discuss their latest projects.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (Mitch Buchannon)

As Mitch Buchannon, the leader of an elite squad of lifeguards, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson plays the lead character in 2017's Baywatch. Following his time in the WWE, The Rock's acting career began with The Mummy Returns and The Scorpion King. From there, Johnson starred in Walking Tall, Doom, The Game Plan, Faster, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, Pain & Gain, Hercules, Central Intelligence, Rampage, Skyscraper, and San Andreas. The wrestler-turned-actor also appeared in Be Cool, Southland Tales, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Fighting with My Family, and the Jumanji movies. Furthermore, The Rock plays Luke Hobbs in Fast Five, Fast & Furious 6, Furious 7, The Fate of the Furious, and the starring vehicle, Hobbs & Shaw. Additionally, on TV, Johnson starred in Ballers.

Next, Dwayne Johnson stars in Jungle Cruise. He'll also appear in Red Notice. Currently, Johnson is filming Black Adam. He'll also lend his voice to DC League of Super-Pets. Furthermore, Johnson is signed on star in The King. He also currently produces and stars in NBC's autobiographical sitcom, Young Rock, which premiered earlier this year.

Zac Efron (Matt Brody)

In the role of Matt Brody, an extremely fit Olympian who feels that he's entitled to join the lifeguard team, Zac Efron plays our second male lead in 2017's Baywatch. Rising to prominence through his performance as Troy Bolton in the High School Musical trilogy, Efron became a leading man through 17 Again, The Lucky One, Me and Orson Welles, Dirty Grandpa, Charlie St. Cloud, That Awkward Moment, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, and the Neighbors films. Also, the actor appeared in Hairspray, The Greatest Showman, The Disaster Artist, The Beach Bum, and The Paperboy. Additionally, Efron starred in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile. He's also heard in The Lorax.

Most recently, Zac Efron was heard in Scoob! He also hosted Netflix's travel series, Down to Earth with Zac Efron, which was renewed for a second season. Next, Zac Efron is slated to star in Gold. Currently, he's in production on Blumhouse's Firestarter remake. Additionally, the A-list actor is signed on to star in Peter Farrelly's The Greatest Beer Run Ever, King of the Jungle, and Disney+'s modernized remake of Three Men and a Baby.

Alexandra Daddario (Summer Quinn)

Playing Summer Quinn, a hard-working lifeguard who becomes Matt Brody's love interest, Alexandra Daddario is the female lead in Baywatch. Following her breakout role in the Percy Jackson movies, Daddario starred in The Layover, Texas Chainsaw, We Have Always Lived in the Castle, When We First Met, and Lost Girls & Lost Hotels. Additionally, she produced and starred in We Summon the Darkness and Can You Keep a Secret? Her other film credits include San Andreas, Burying the Ex, and Hall Pass.

Furthermore, on television, Alexandra Daddario is best known for HBO's True Detective. She also starred in Paramount+'s Why Women Kill and played recurring roles among the cast of White Collar, All My Children, Parenthood, American Horror Story: Hotel, and New Girl. Most recently, Daddario appeared in The Girlfriend Experience Season 3. Additionally, the film-TV actress starred in last year's pandemic-themed Songbird. She also lent her voice to Superman: Man of Tomorrow. Next, Alexandra Daddario will star in Die in a Gunfight and HBO's The White Lotus. Outside of acting, Daddario hosts an active YouTube channel.

Jon Bass (Ronnie Greenbaum)

As Ronnie Greenbaum, an often-misfortuned rookie lifeguard who wants to make a good impression and do right by everyone, Jon Bass plays a hapless lead character in 2017's Baywatch. Prior to this performance, Bass was seen in Comedy Central's short-lived series, Big Time in Hollywood, FL, in the role of Del Plimpton. Additionally, Bass is part of the main cast for TBS's anthology comedy series, Miracle Workers, which was renewed for a third season. Subtitled Oregon Trail, it's expected to premiere in July. His other television credits include The Newsroom, Girls, Stumptown, Outmatched, and American Horror Story: Roanoke. Most recently, Bass appeared in HBO's Room 104.

Additionally, on the big screen, Jon Bass' other film credits include Sword of Trust, Molly's Game, Dog Days, and Plus One. He can also be seen in Ratter and All Nighter. Furthermore, Bass played Philip Hirschkop in Loving. Next, he will appear in Gatlopp.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas (Victoria Leeds)

In the role of Victoria Leeds, a powerful criminal mastermind who fights against Mitch Buchannon's lifeguard crew, Priyanka Chopra Jonas plays the main antagonist in 2017's Baywatch. Following years of fame as one of India's highest-paid and most popular actresses, Chopra found success in the U.S. with her starring role in ABC's Quantico. She also provided supporting turns in Isn't It Romantic and 2020's We Can Be Heroes.

Prior to her time in Hollywood, Priyanka Chopra Jonas starred in The Sky Is Pink, Jai Gangaajal, Mary Kom, Anjaana Anjaani, 7 Khoon Maaf, Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai, Pyaar Impossible!, Zanjeer, Deewana Main Deewana, and Fashion. Most recently, Chopra was seen in Netflix's The White Tiger, which she also executive produced. Next, she'll appear in The Matrix Resurrections and Text for You. Currently, Chopra is filming a role in Amazon Prime's Citadel. She's also expected to star in Sheela, which she'll produce. Additionally, Chopra will join forces with Mindy Kaling for an untitled wedding comedy. Outside of acting, she wrote a memoir, Unfinished, which was published in February.

Kelly Rohrbach (C.J. Parker)

Playing the part of C.J. Parker, a popular, skilled lifeguard, Kelly Rohrbach takes on the role that was made famous by Pamela Anderson in 2017's Baywatch. Outside of this R-rated comedy, the actress-model is known for her recurring role as Cassidy Reid in Paramount Network's Yellowstone. Her other TV credits include The PET Squad Files, Rizzoli & Isles, Two and a Half Men, Broad City, The New Normal, and Angie Tribeca.

Additionally, outside of TV, Kelly Rohrbach can be seen in Cafe Society, Ocean's 8, and Wilt. The actress also starred in the short film, My Last Film. Most recently, Rohrbach played a supporting role in A Rainy Day in New York. Her next project remains unknown.

Hannibal Buress (Dave The Tech)

As Dave the Tech, Hannibal Buress plays a supporting character in 2017's Baywatch. Most notably, Buress played Lincoln Rice in Comedy Central's Broad City. Additionally, Buress hosted Comedy Central's Why? with Hannibal Buress and co-hosted Adult Swim's The Eric Andre Show, where he also wrote and produced. His other TV credits include 30 Rock, Louie, and High Maintenance. Furthermore, as a voice actor, Buress can be heard in Chozen, China IL, Lucas Bros. Moving Co., and Justice League Action. Additionally, outside of acting, Buress is an Emmy-nominated SNL and 30 Rock writer.

Outside of TV, Hannibal Buress plays Coach Wilson in Spider-Man: Homecoming. He also starred in Tag and Band of Robbers. Additionally, Buress provided supporting turns in Kuso, The Disaster Artist, Blockers, Slice, The Nice Guys, and the Neighbors movies. As a voice actor, the comic is heard in The Angry Birds Movie, Nerdland, and The Secret Life of Pets movies. Next, Buress plays Coach Wilson in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Sgt. Ellerbee)

In the role of Sgt. Ellerbee, a local police officer, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II played a pre-fame supporting role in 2017's Baywatch. Following the film's release, Abdul-Mateen became an Emmy winner for his performance as Cal Abar, a.k.a. Doctor Manhattan, in HBO's acclaimed Watchmen. He also played Clarence "Cadillac" Caldwell in Netflix's The Get Down. His other TV credits include Black Mirror and The Handmaid's Tale.

Additionally, on the big screen, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II played David Kane/Black Manta in Aquaman. Also, he appeared in Us, The Greatest Showman, and First Match. Last year, the actor earned raves for his portrayal of Bobby Seale in The Trial of Chicago 7. That same year, he was seen in Sweetness in the Belly and All Day and a Night. Next, Abdul-Mateen II stars in Candyman. He'll also appear in The Matrix Resurrections and Ambulance. Additionally, Abdul-Mateen II reprises his role as Black Manta in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Furthermore, the actor will appear in Furiosa. Abdul-Mateen II is also set to reunite with The Rock with Emergency Contact, which he'll produce as well.

Ilfenesh Hadera (Stephanie Holden)

Playing the part of Stephanie Holden, a diligent lifeguard and a loyal friend, Ilfenesh Hadera is quite the lifesaver in 2017's Baywatch. Outside of this film, Hadera is best known for her role as Opal Gilstrap in Netflix's She's Gotta Have It. Additionally, the actress's other recurring roles include Deb Kawi in Showtime's Billions, Lisa in Netflix's Master of None, Serena in NBC's Chicago Fire, and Naomi Golden in ABC's Conviction. Furthermore, Hadera was part of the main cast for ABC's short-lived series, Deception. Her other TV credits include The Blacklist, The Punisher, Difficult People, and Show Me a Hero. Additionally, Hadera's other film credits include Spike Lee's Oldboy and Chi-Raq. Currently, the actress plays the part of Mayme Johnson in Epix's Godfather of Harlem.

Oscar Nunez (Councilman Rodriguez)

As Councilman Rodriguez, an ill-fated local politician, Oscar Nunez played a short-lived supporting character in 2017's Baywatch. Most notably, Nunez is best known for his role as Oscar Martinez in NBC's immensely popular The Office. He's also Emmy-nominated for his performance in History Channel's The Crossroads of History. Additionally, Nunez created and starred in Comedy Central's short-lived Halfway Home and co-starred in USA Network's Benched. Furthermore, Nunez played Father Doug in TBS's People of Earth. Currently, the television actor appears in Netflix's Mr. Iglesias as Assistant-Principal Carlos Hernandez. His other television credits include Malcolm in the Middle, Reno 911!, and Shameless. He's also heard in 3Below: Tales from Arcadia.

Additionally, away from TV, Oscar Nunez's other film credits include The Proposal, The 33, Reno 911!: Miami, The Italian Job, and Miss Stevens. Last year, he appeared in Yes. Earlier this year, Nunez was seen in in NBC's Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist. At the moment, the comedy actor is filming roles in Disenchanted and The Lost City of D. Additionally, Nunez will be heard in the dark comedy podcast series, The Bystanders.

Rob Huebel (Captain Thorpe)

In the role of Captain Thorpe, Mitch's disloyal superior, Rob Huebel played a secondary antagonist in 2017's Baywatch. As an actor, writer, and comedian, Huebel is best known for MTV's sketch comedy series, Human Giant. He also played Dr. Owen Maestro in Adult Swim's Children's Hospital. Furthermore, Huebel played recurring roles in Transparent, The League, The Office, The Goldbergs, and Burning Love. Additionally, the actor-writer created YouTube Red's Do You Want to See a Dead Body? Last year, Huebel starred in Netflix's Medical Police and appeared in HBO's I Know This Much Is True.

Additionally, in film, Rob Huebel can be seen in The Descendants, The Other Guys, I Love You Man, and Hell Baby. Most recently, the actor was seen in Spontaneous and Valley Girl. Also, Huebel guest-starred in ABC's A Million Little Things. Next, he'll appear in How It Ends, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, and Action #1. Additionally, Huebel is signed on to star in HBO Max's The Sex Lives of College Girls.

The day of Oscar nominations, per usual, was filled with both excitement and disappointment surrounding the nominess (expected and confusing) and the usual snubs. However, arguably the one bright spot was Hollywood couple Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas announcing the nominations. For the most part, people enjoyed seeing the couple as announcers, but one person called out Chopra Jonas and Jonas for not being worthy of such an honor. Chopra Jonas decided to clap back on social media.

To put things in perspective, Priyanka Chopra Jonas was (and continues to be) a huge star in her native country India. Before the jump to Hollywood, the actress had an illustrious career in Bollywood as one of its key figures. It was the main reason she was able to start a career in the United States. But that appeared to bypass Australian reporter Peter Ford, as he hinted at her lack of creditability on Twitter. Chopra Jonas decided to reply in her unique way. A tweet from a journalist shouldn’t have elicited the response from Priyanka Chopra Jonas, but it needed to happen. Sometimes, a person must show rather than talk about their accomplishments to doubters. The actress could’ve been nasty in her response, but she decided to remind people of her lengthy acting resume. Priyanka Chopra Jonas has also been relatively tight-lipped about the character she plays in the sequel (other than her being “unexpected”) alongside returning cast members Keanu Reeves as Neo, Carrie-Anne Moss as Trinity, and Jada Pinkett Smith as Niobe. Fellow newcomers Neil Patrick Harris and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II also star in roles that still remain unnamed as well. All will be revealed when The Matrix 4 hits theaters on its currently scheduled release date of December 22, 2021.

Text For You (Post-Production)

A project now in post-production and starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas that we actually can speak freely about is this English-language remake of a German romantic comedy from 2016 called SMS für Dich. Based on a novel by Sofia Cramer (who also wrote the screenplay), Text for You stars Chopra Jonas as a woman who tries to quell her grief by sending a text message to her recently deceased fiancé, only to discover that his cell phone number has been reassigned to another man (Scottish Outlander star Sam Heughan) with whom she begins to develop an unexpectedly close connection.

James C. Strouse, an acclaimed filmmaker known for New York, I Love You directs Text for You, which will also star Québécoise singing icon Celine Dion in her acting debut. The film does not currently have a theatrical release date set.

Sheela (Pre-Production)

Priyanka Chopra Jonas is both leading the cast and producing this biopic, which will chronicle the shocking story of Sheela Ambalal Patel. Of course, most people would more likely know her as Ma Anand Sheela - the name she went by while she served as a leader and the main spokesperson for the Rajneesh movement, which served as the focus for the 2018 docuseries Wild Wild Country on Netflix.

Sheela will focus primarily on Patel’s relationship with the cult’s head, Osho, and her participation in the attempted bioterror attack on Oregon locals against their practices in the mid-1980s. The historical drama will be helmed by Barry Levinson, the Academy Award-winning director of Rain Man, and is set to be distributed by Amazon Studios at an unconfirmed date.

Citadel (Pre-Production)

Much like the aforementioned The Matrix 4, the basis of this upcoming miniseries has largely been kept under wraps. The most telling information about the plot so far has come from executive producers Joe and Anthony Russo, who described it as something along the lines of a globe-spanning espionage drama in 2019.

Citadel is yet another project backed by Amazon Studios that stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas, along with Game of Thrones veteran Richard Madden, Australian actress Ashleigh Cummings, and Roland Møller - a Danish actor known for starring opposite Dwayne Johnson in Skyscraper and Liam Neeson in The Commuter. The MCU golden boys behind Avengers: Endgame and Tom Holland’s recent Apple TV+ original drama, Cherry, are also directing this action-packed limited series which is now still in its earlier stages of production.

Cowboy Ninja Viking (Announced)

Easily the most unusual sounding title on Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ resume of upcoming credits is this adaptation of writer A.J. Lieberman and illustrator Riley Rossmo’s very unusual graphic novel from Image Comics. The story follows a man named Duncan, whose multiple personalities have allowed him to be imbued with the skills of a western outlaw, an expert martial artist, and a medieval pillager. When other Dissociative Identity Disorder patients in the same program as him go rogue, it is up to him to use his triple threat of badass abilities to stop them.

In 2018, Priyanka Chopra Jonas was cast as the female lead of Cowboy Ninja Viking, opposite Chris Pratt in the hero role, until Universal indefinitely shelved the film in August of that year amid concerns over scheduling and the script. For now, the film that almost became TV director Michelle MacLaren’s feature-length debut (before helming Jennifer Aniston’s upcoming Hail Mary) is simply labeled as “announced.”

Untitled Indian Wedding Project (In Development)

Announced in April 2019 was the partnership of Priyanka Chopra Jonas and six-time Emmy-nominated former Office star Mindy Kaling on a new film which the duo pitched around before setting a deal with Universal. The currently untitled project tells the story of the hijinks that ensue during a culture clash at an Indian wedding which, according to Deadline, has been described as Crazy Rich Asians meets My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas will star in the movie alongside Mindy Kaling, who is also penning the script with Dan Goor, known best as the creator of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and potentially make it her feature-length directorial debut. The romantic comedy is still in development with no schedule for production or release set.

Untitled Sangeet Project (In Development)

Speaking of romance, Priyanka Chopra Jonas is also teaming up with her partner in life, Nick Jonas, on a new project that is not exactly the same, but somewhat similar to the music videos the husband and wife have starred in together. This time, the concept is an unscripted series inspired by Sangeet, which translates to “sung together” from Sanskrit and is a form of ceremonial celebration involving song and dance that is traditionally demonstrated the night before an Indian wedding.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas personally announced that she and Nick Jonas were producing the still-untitled reality show together through an Instagram photo posted on the couple’s one-year wedding anniversary. This came following news that Amazon Studios proudly gave the show the green light in late 2019.

And not to be outdone, several celebrities released books in the final weeks of 2020 that are more than deserving of a quick shoutout before end things here. It's not uncommon for busy couples to go through periods of time where they don't see each other much, and this is probably especially true for twosomes where each member of the couple has a gig in the entertainment industry which keeps them away from their home base several weeks / months out of the year. But, it sounds like power couple Priyanka Chopra and her husband Nick Jonas have become experts at long distance romance, because Chopra has revealed that they only see each other once a month.

I know many of you are probably already scratching your heads, especially since actress Priyanka Chopra and actor / singer / sometime The Voice coach Nick Jonas have only been married for a little over two years, so let's just get to what she said regarding their in-person time and discuss it later. Chopra spoke with Elle recently, and after discussing how much itinerant living she's done for much of the past decade because of her career, dropped this tidbit about her relationship with Jonas:

According to what Priyanka Chopra said about how she and Nick Jonas run things, they only see each other, in person, for a couple of days every three weeks. Theoretically, this could mean that they're within spitting distance of one another twice in one month, depending on when that first monthly visit occurs. Chopra did say they fly to the other's locale "at least once a month," meaning that, time permitting, it could be more. But, if their first visit is, say, during the last week of the month, that would mean they only get together that one time.

Chopra doesn't say when this method started for the couple, only noting that they committed to making sure they'd be together at least once every month when they first got married. Having a rule like that makes a ton of sense, considering how busy each of them are (she has two movies coming out this year, and another four projects in the works), but setting the bar at only one in-person meeting per month would likely drive most couples crazy.

I have to say, though, it seems like it's working for them so far, and that's all any couple can hope for. We all have to figure out ways to make our relationships last, even if the way we do that seems unusual or unsustainable to those around us. Priyanka Chopra has described herself as an introvert before, but she also has a job where she's forced to deal with tons of other people on a regular basis. Maybe she needs to carve out whatever alone time she can get to recharge. If that's the case, it's good that Nick Jonas is on board with helping her do that.

Plus, even though it sounds like the marrieds aren't face-to-face anywhere near as much as most couples, it wouldn't be impossible for them to talk, text, and / or video chat daily so that they make sure they keep in touch and aware of what's going on in each other's lives. Besides, Jonas has confirmed that they spent nearly a year just texting each other before they even met in person, and then roughly another year of little to no in-person contact before their first official date, so he and Chopra seem to really understand how to navigate this level of separation.

Last year was an unprecedented one, and the entertainment industry came to a screeching halt when sets around the world were shut down. One of these projects was Lana Wachowski's The Matrix 4, which was in the midst of shooting in San Francisco when the delay occurred. Production recently wrapped overseas, and fans are eager to meet the batch of newcomers that will be joining Keanu Reeves. Chief among them is actress/producer Priyonka Chopra, who recently teased a bit about her mysterious character and what it was like filming in the midst of COVID.

The Matrix 4 will bring back a handful of returning actors, including OG stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss. If there's one thing that Matrix fans know about the beloved franchise, it's to expect the unexpected. And it seems Priyanka Chopra's unnamed character is going to be chock full of those when she makes her debut in The Matrix 4. We'll just have to wait for some official trailers or images to see exactly how Chopra will be when audiences jack back into the property.

Priyanka Chopra's comments to Variety offers the smallest sliver of information regarding The Matrix 4. The cast and crew have all been keeping their cards close to the chest, although Keanu Reeves has teased an epic love story that'll be present in the new sequel. Plus, the action is expected to be absolutely wild. What's more, she maintains that she felt very safe returning to work with the new health protocols.

Since no information about The Matrix 4's contents have been revealed, there are a ton of questions about exactly how the beloved franchise will return to theaters. Chief among them revolving around Neo and Trinity, who both seemingly died in The Matrix Revolutions. Is this a new simulation entirely, or a return what we knew? Hopefully answers will come sooner rather than later.

Priyanka Chopra's career has been seriously booming in the past few years, while she also made headlines for marrying Nick Jonas. In addition to her starring TV role in Quantico, she made notable film appearances in projects like Isn't It Romantic? and Baywatch. The delay in The Matrix 4's filming resulted in the movie being pushed back to December of this year. In 2015, hot off the premiere of Quantico, ABC’s evening news program Nightline did a piece detailing Priyanka Chopra’s struggle to overcome racial barriers, which the network promoted with an ad showing what they assumed was a photo of the actress after her Miss World crowning. However, as fashion website HighHeelConfidential pointed out in a tweet, it was actually an image of Yutka Mookhey: a fellow Indian actress and Chopra’s 1999 predecessor of the aforementioned beauty pageant title. Nightline would later take to Twitter to apologize for the ironic mistake, which Chopra seemed to take in stride, not letting it taint her relationship with ABC.

Priyanka Chopra Initially Didn't Think Her Relationship With Nick Jonas Would Lead To Marriage

Yet, believe it or not, one relationship that Priyanka Chopra was at risk of tainting at one time was with her eventual husband, Nick Jonas. While Celine Dion has obviously had remarkable independent success in the music world, her legacy is also very much tied to the world of movies. Now the beloved diva is set to take another step into the film universe, but this time around she'll be playing a very different role – which is to say that she will be playing a role. The French-Canadian singer is getting ready to make her acting debut.

Deadline has the scoop on this development, reporting that Celine Dion will soon be starring alongside Outlander's Sam Heughan and Priyanka Chopra Jonas in a new romantic drama temporarily titled Text For You. The movie is an adaptation of German author Sofie Cramer's novel SMS Fur Dich (which directly translates to "Text For You"), and was previously adapted by German director Karoline Herfurth in 2016.

Set to be directed by Grace Is Gone's Jim Strouse and written by Lauryn Kahn, the film will tell the story of a young woman who is still emotionally suffering following the tragic death of her fiance. In order to try and cope, she begins sending text messages to his old number – but then she discovers that the number has been reassigned to a man in her town who happens to be grieving a similar loss. Per the trade, there will be a heavy Celine Dion influence on the story, as the two characters find inspiration in her music (and presumably this means that Dion will be playing herself). And while it's not specifically stated in the trade report, we can assume that Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Sam Heughan will be playing the male and female leads.

Heughan, who is best known for playing Jamie Fraser on Outlander, has started to take on more feature projects recently, having starred alongside Vin Diesel in Bloodshot earlier this year. In addition to Text For You, his upcoming slate also includes two films that have already completed production: the action movie SAS: Red Notice and John Hay's An Unquiet Life, which will feature the actor playing Hollywood legend Paul Newman.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas has also continued to expand her big screen presence in recent years, with the most noteworthy upcoming projects being Lana Wachowski's The Matrix 4 and Robert Rodriguez's We Can Be Heroes. She is also set to collaborate with directors Joe and Anthony Russo on the developing miniseries Citadel.

With films like Jordan Peele’s Get Out, Blumhouse has championed diverse voices to contribute to this renaissance. Among the latest voices is Indian actress, singer and producer Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

She is an executive producer on one of Amazon Prime’s four Welcome To The Blumhouse films, this one titled Evil Eye While promoting the new movie now available on the streaming platform, Priyanka Chopra Jonas talked about the importance of the thriller with these words:

When Pallavi falls in love, her superstitious mother becomes convinced her daughter's new lover is the reincarnation of the man who attempted to kill her 30 years prior.

The new Blumhouse movie is packed with Indian voices behind the camera as well. Newcomer Madhuri Shekar wrote the script and it is directed by Elan Dassani and Rajeev Dassani. A predominantly Indian cast and filmmakers being at the center of a horror movie from major studios such as Blumhouse and Amazon is just about unheard of. Props to Priyanka Chopra Jones backing films such as Evil Eye in between her other work.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas does not have a role in Evil Eye, but the multi-talent will have a role in the upcoming The Matrix 4, also starring Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Neil Patrick Harris, Jonathan Groff, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Jada Pinkett Smith. The film is being directed by Lana Wachowski and has been filming this year ahead of its December 2021 release.

Nocturne joined Evil Eye with a Tuesday release as part of Amazon’s Welcome To The Blumhouse film series, which also includes The Lie starring Joey King and Black Box. Irrfan Khan, a veteran actor in Bollywood and a notable actor in major Hollywood films including Jurassic World, has died “surrounded by the people he loved most.” News broke this week that the actor was rushed to a hospital in Mumbai on Tuesday whilst dealing with a colon infection. He was ultimately placed in intensive care, where he passed away. Khan was 53.

Irrfan Khan had learned he had a rare tumor back in 2018. He’d battled cancer for the last couple of years, but had still managed to film a few projects, including this March’s Angrezi Medium. An official statement (via The Daily Mail) indicated his family and friends were able to be with the actor when he died, which is not always the case during this time.

A popular Bollywood star, in Hollywood Irrfan Khan appeared in such films as Jurassic World (and reprised the role in the video game Lego Jurassic World). He also played the adult Pi Patel in Life Of Pi, appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man, and acted as a police inspector in the Best Picture Winner Slumdog Millionaire. Back in 2013, he won India's National Film Award for Paan Singh Tomar. In it, he led the movie as its titular character. His popularity in Bollywood and his ability to smoothly transition into roles for English language movies cannot be understated.

Actress Priyanka Chopra worked with Irrfan Khan on several movies, including the 2008 Indian action-thriller Chamku and 2014’s Gunday. The actress notably spoke out to pay tribute to the wildly popular actor after news of his death broke, vaguely mentioning the actor’s battle with cancer and sharing an image of them together in her post.

Even India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has been leading since 2014, extended his own condolences to the actor's family.

During his time as an actor, Irrfan Khan was active with fans on social media, sharing project news and other feelings and moments. Following the diagnosis of his illness, he shared a Rainer Maria Rilke poem that resonates especially now.

The loss of Irfan Khan is not the only loss the family has suffered this month. Reports indicate the actor's mother passed away four days before her son. She was 95 years of age at the time of her death. Due to restrictions around the world constricting movement and encouraging social distancing, the actor was unable to attend to her last rites, after she died in Jaipur.

BBC reports that Irrfan Khan was buried soon after his death in the Mumbai hospital. He was laid to rest at the Versova Kabristan cemetery in Mumbai. His family and friends were able to be present for the event. Our thoughts go out to them during this difficult time.

At the top of this article, I included a photo of what Nick Jonas, the musical phenom, member of The Jonas Brothers and occasional actor, looks like. He’s cleanshaven often, but for the period drama Midway, he added a mustache to his WWII-era look. But what did his wife think about her partner wearing a ‘stache?

Well, at least if you were to ask Nick Jonas himself what his wife Priyanka Chopra thought, he’d tell you she was into it. There’s a reason she was cool with Jonas’ Midway look too, as it reminded her of her past. He noted,

While Priyanka Chopra sounds like she was a good sport about the mustache, it seems as if Nick Jonas was quite ready to get rid of it as soon as he was done filming Midway. Not that Chopra sounds like she really minded, anyway.

While being interviewed by ET at the LA premiere of the movie, Nick Jonas was sporting a bit of scruff, but nothing like the mustache we’ve already been given a sneak peak of, thanks to the trailers for Midway. If you haven’t caught the look, however, you can check it out below.

Nick Jonas’ character, Bruno Gaido, is not the only character sporting a mustache in the trailer for this movie; for example, Luke Evans’ Lieutenant Commander Wade McClusky also has his own facial hair look going on. All the mustaches really do make sense for the movie, as the Roland Emmerich film is set during WWII, during the era of Pearl Harbor and later the Battle of Midway when mustaches were common -- even the toothbrush variety Adolf Hitler sported.

These days, beards are sort of the in thing with facial hair right now, and I’d assume actors who decide to sport beards for various movie roles can go out in public with nary an eyelash batted. That’s not exactly the same for those who choose to go mustachioed (although I’m assuming Movember is a good month for mustache lovers each year).

Regardless, I still enjoy hearing about what it was like for Nick Jonas to sport the mustache in front of his wife, whom he married back in December of last year. Ultimately, I'm also happy to hear it wasn't too much of a hardship on their relationship. You never know how prickly these things can be.

Ultimately, Midway is being released this month, and the Movember tie-ins are just too good not to note. Her role in Baywatch was less action-oriented than some of her co-stars, but she was frequently cited in reviews as being a high mark of the movie.

Priyanka Chopra should have no problem handling Batgirl, but it all depends on what direction Joss Whedon wants to take the character. Early reports claimed that the story would take most of its inspiration from the New 52 Batgirl series, where Barabara Gordon finally recovers from a spine wound and resumes her superhero identity. If Chopra doesn't fit the bill, then she's always got a shot at one of the other hundreds of superhero films in development at any given time.

On the ABC thriller Quantico, star Priyanka Chopra has been put through a lot of dangerous situations, at least while she's in character as FBI-to-CIA analyst Alex Parrish. This week, however, the actress found herself the victim of a pretty nasty fall on the set while filming the back half of Season 2, and it reportedly resulted in a concussion, landing Chopra in the hospital. She's okay now, thank goodness, but the injury did require her to take a little time off.

It appears that Preiyanka Chopra was in the middle of filming a Quantico stunt on Thursday night when she slipped, with her head taking the brunt of the damage from the fall. According to TMZ, Chopra was then zipped over to the hospital to check on her injuries, where it was determined she'd suffered a concussion. After the examination and treatment were complete, the actress was released a few hours after arriving, and she went home to rest.

Production on Quantico did not stop on Thursday, nor did things get shut down on Friday, despite Priyanka Chopra not being present for filming. There are, after all, lots of scenes that don't require the actress' presence, so it's of course always advisable to make the most of a bad situation. She also wasn't present for a promotional event on Friday, which is just as understandable.

Fans don't need to fret about Quantico losing its leading lady for any extended period. Unless something sudden occurs in the very near future, Priyanka Chopra is expected to return to Quantico's production after the weekend. You probably won't even notice that anything was wrong, unless the editor really botches things.

Despite starting off as one of the hottest freshman series of the 2015-2016 TV season, Quantico's flashback-heavy mystery soon lost its tight grip on audiences, and Season 2 has seen the ratings go even deeper downhill, both the total viewers and the key 18-49 demographic. Those numbers could possibly turn soon on a new night free from both The Walking Dead and NFL football, but if not, ABC might start looking to find a new show to take its spot. And that would be a whole different kind of headache for Priyanka Chopra.
