Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon have made their mark on the entertainment industry with The Morning Show, as women taking a stand both in front of the camera, starring as fictional TV hosts, and behind it as executive producers of the series. So it’s not surprising that the impending end of one of Apple TV’s best original series drew mixed emotions from the pair. There were both tears and laughter after they wrapped The Morning Show Season 5.

The actresses — who first met when they played sisters on Friends back in 2000 — confirmed this week that Season 5 will be The Morning Show’s last. That announcement came alongside images and videos from behind the scenes that show both the love amongst the cast and the bevy of emotions that come with closing this chapter. Jennifer Aniston wrote on Instagram that she was “laughing and crying,” posting:

The first image of Reese Witherspoon caught in the middle of a huge, open-mouthed laugh seems to show how much fun these two could have, while the next slide shows how much they all care about each other.

Mark Duplass holds both Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon in a hug as they appear to cry, kissing each on their heads. In a statement confirming the TV show’s cancellation, Aniston said they’d all become such a family. She said:

It apparently didn’t come as a surprise that this would be The Morning Show’s final season, so hopefully that allows them to bring each character’s narrative to a satisfying end.

Reese Witherspoon also shared an emotional Instagram post — a video that included some big hugs with Jennifer Aniston, a good bit of her dancing and a peek at some of the incoming Season 5 cast. Check it out:

Legally Blonde is one of those great movies from the 2000s that’s brimming with one-liners we still repeat to this day. In honor of its 25th anniversary, one of the movie’s writers shared an amusing anecdote I’ve always been curious about. How did the amazing “bend and snap” scene come to be?

Kirsten Smith has previously called the invention of the bend and snap a “spontaneous invention” that was the result of “a completely drunken moment in a bar”. But there’s much more to it. In her words:

In the new interview, Smith said she loved writing Legally Blonde’s many iconic moments, but many of them actually came about later in the process. She and her co-writer Karen McCullah Lutz knew they wanted to give Jennifer Coolidge’s Paulette more to do, but it took some thinking. As she added to Gold Derby:

While I certainly would have thought the bend and snap was in the DNA of Legally Blonde from the beginning, that wasn’t the case. The scene came out of the rewrite stage via some notes from producer Marc Platt.

Legally Blonde would have certainly been a bit of a different movie if there was a crime at the salon instead. But it just wouldn’t have been the same without the plotline revolving around Paulette’s crush on the UPS guy. The screenwriters ultimately felt a sprinkle of romance in the B-plot would be better served than a crime due to their personal strengths as writers. I think they made the right choice.

Smith also recalled the famed scene being a “much longer sequence” and originally feeling like “the movie fully stopped” for a musical number. But after it went through the editing room, the co-writer felt like the Legally Blonde scene “became the perfect length.”

I can't believe it, but it's been almost six years since many of us learned who Anya Taylor-Joy was as she broke big in Netflix's The Queen’s Gambit. Since then, the actress has become a full-blown movie star, between starring in a ton of horror films, landing the voice of Princess Peach and joining Dune. This week she’s back on the small screen; however, returning to the small screen in Lucky. This time, the notoriety she's built up since the Netflix hit definitely shows.

If you liked The Queen’s Gambit, I’d gamble you’re going to like her new series. It’s also about a young woman who’s especially gifted at one thing. (No, not chess.) Anya Taylor-Joy's new series is about the daughter of a grifter who’s been expertly trained him in the art of a good con since childhood. The show’s creator, Jonathan Tropper, said this to CinemaBlend about how the return to TV came about.

Oh, how the tables turn! While Taylor-Joy was a relatively unknown actor for hire when she was approached for The Queen’s Gambit, this time she was one of the first names on Lucky . She was approached; she didn't audition. This also marked her debut as a producer alongside the likes of Reese Witherspoon.

As Tropper added, it wasn't just Reese's involvement that got Taylor-Joy involved in the 2026 TV release. It was fate. Even author Marissa Stapley had pictured the actress in the role.

Lucky starts with a longtime couple, Lucky and Cary, who are getting ready to go on the run with millions of dollars in their hands. However, when Lucky wakes up the following morning to find her husband and the money nowhere to be found, she must avert the authorities (and other parties who want the money) all on her own.

When CinemaBlend chatted with Anya Taylor-Joy about the role, she recalled shooting the pilot across twelve days and nights in and around Las Vegas’s Caesar’s Palace. She also told me she was “so proud” of herself after running for twelve hours straight to film one scene in the first episode where Lucky is trying to get out of the famed hotel and disappear.

Lucky’s co-showrunner Cassie Pappas said the actress really put her heart and soul into wearing all these different hats in order to make Lucky as great as it is.

How cool is it that Taylor-Joy got to work on Lucky from the inside out? You've got to love seeing more talented women movie stars like her taking the reins behind the scenes. Pappas also said this of collaborating with her as well:

Lucky also stars Outer Banks’ Drew Starkey as Lucky’s husband and Timothy Olyphant as Lucky’s dad. Annette Bening also plays a chilling mob boss after her named Priscilla and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor is FBI Agent Billie Rand, who is on her tail throughout. The TV series was shot not only in Las Vegas but across various terrain in Southern California where Taylor-Joy and the cast got to pull off a series of action scenes and nail-biting car chases.

The two-episode premiere of Lucky hits Apple TV this Wednesday, July 15, with new episodes coming out on subsequent Wednesdays. It's been a long time since Anya Taylor-Joy has made a TV show, but this one seems to be well worth the return to the medium.

One of the most striking things about the Legally Blonde prequel TV series Elle, which is available to stream with a Prime Video subscription, is just how much Elle Woods newcomer Lexi Minetree looks like Reese Witherspoon. Don’t take my word for it. Witherspoon herself posted on Instagram to show that comparison pics between the two are pretty spot-on. But the similarities don’t just stop there.

In an interview with Variety, Jason Moore, who directed the first two episodes of Elle, noted that Reese Witherspoon and Lexi Minetree are also the same height. He said:

The best kind of prequel is the one that allows its lead to understand the character and follow their own instincts, never forgetting where they came from, or in this case, where they’re going. Minetree has revealed that she watched Legally Blonde somewhere around 150 times, which shows that she’s quite the overachiever herself. And she had the same dedication when it came to perfecting the voice of Elle Woods. Moore said:

A lot of the critics have objections to the Legally Blonde prequel series, which I don’t agree with. Personally, I found Elle delightfully entertaining. As someone who’s spent time in the Seattle music scene, it was full of nostalgia that brought a smile to my face and warmed my heart. And watching Lexi Minetree pay tribute to Reese Witherspoon’s iconic work made me excited to see what she does as the character continues her prequel journey.

One thing I always loved about the movie is how easily quotable it is. Some phrases are almost more iconic than her classic pink style. But fans weren’t the only ones excited for Elle’s comeback. She was a sweet, independent, and positive woman who was a bit outside the norm at Harvard Law, but she never apologized for being herself. To me, this makes her a classic “feminist” character who serves as a reminder for young women to never forget to pursue their own dreams.

The “fish out of water” story is one that defined Legally Blonde, as she went from the sorority house to Harvard. The prequel Elle takes the same path, by symbolically taking young Elle from the sunny climate of Bel-Air to the rainy city of Seattle. And not just because of the obvious fashion differences.

The prequel had fun reinventing the character, though it never forgets where Elle is going to end up. For those of us who lived on Legally Blonde, the streaming series gives little winks, such as when it dropped a hilarious reveal about the character. Hint: it may have to do with her astrological sign.

I can't wait to see if any of Elle's one-liners will be quoted to Witherspoon at Starbucks.

As someone who writes about TV for a living, I have already consumed a lot of shows on the 2026 TV schedule. However, it is not typical for me to engage in couch rot and watch an entire TV series in one sitting. I was so engaged in Elle, however, I stayed up until midnight on Friday doing just that. So, when Elle hit No. 1 on Amazon Prime over the weekend, I was unsurprised, but I was touched by Reese Witherspoon’s message about the phenomenon.

This week Elle is sitting pretty in that No. 1 slot on Amazon Prime, beating out the likes of the recently added and star-stuffed Project Hail Mary and Sheep Detectives, as well as the very popular and much spicier Off Campus. In comparison, the Legally Blonde prequel is full of a bunch of relative unknowns, but it had enough franchise recognition going in people have given it a chance.

Of course, I’m sure it helps that Reese Witherspoon has been championing the show since the studio announced it would be available for those with an Amazon Prime subscription. This weekend, she was here with a “big pink thank you” for the fans.

Listen, it’s not super uncommon for major celebrities to send thanks to fans after a show hits No. 1. Chris Hemsworth was early to this trend when Extraction came out. Jamie Foxx did the same more recently when Back in Action dominated Netflix after bringing Cameron Diaz back to acting. In this case, though, Witherspoon isn’t playing Elle Woods this time around. She does have a vested interest thanks to Hello Sunshine producing Elle, but she didn't have to go out of her way to acknowledge the fandom or the hard work the cast and crew put in.

She did it anyway, because giving people their flowers is the type of thing Reese Witherspoon is prone to do, and has been doing as part of a larger narrative of her "passing the torch" when it comes to Elle Woods. Her response also made me feel even better about devoting part of my weekend to couch rot.

Normally sitting around and doing nothing is exactly the type of thing I’d be down on myself about, but the actress has actually made me feel good about it. This is true even though the show has literally already been renewed for Season 2 and there was no specific reason for me to plow through it as quickly as I did. I just was enjoying myself.

Critics may have some complaints about Elle, and it’s not a perfect series. I would have liked a few more episodes to really build up some of the conflict with the love triangle, and what subsequently happened between Elle and Shannon. However, the last time I sat down and binged an entire TV season was in 2019, when the first season of Natascha Lyon’s Groundhog’s Day-evoking Russian Doll came out and I just couldn’t tear my eyes away.

So, I cannot emphasize enough how fun and breezy a watch Elle is. Give it a whirl. Or, you know, bend and snap to it.

One of my favorite things about Legally Blonde is how many beloved lines came out of a single script. Elle Woods has so many great lines said by Reese Witherspoon, but my favorite has to be when she declares that she and her little doggy Bruiser Woods are both “Gemini vegetarians.” Especially as a longtime resident of Los Angeles myself, it’s literally the perfect way to make fun of us with a single line. And in the prequel series, Elle, they ran with the quote in a direction I really didn’t expect.

The entire first season of Elle just premiered on the 2026 TV schedule, and while it took a couple of episodes to grow on me, I don’t agree with a lot of the critics. It’s a delightful series, and I hope it continues. Anyways, my favorite Elle Woods-coded moment comes in episode seven after Elle and her friends serve their time in detention and she’s explaining the situation to her mother Eva (played dynamically by June Diane Raphael). She ends up saying this:

Elle completely defines herself by her astrological sign of Gemini, because of course she does, but this time when she talks about it, her mom admits something. In Eva's words:

So while Elle thought she was a Gemini her whole sixteen years of life thus far, she learns that she’s technically a Cancer. It was hidden from her thanks to a bet that went on between her dad and his work buddies. Here’s her actual birthday, according to her mom:

What I love about this is, of course, a Legally Blonde prequel series that would talk about the origins of Elle Woods’ astrology and deepen it. It just makes sense. Plus, as an L.A. girlie myself who had my own phase of over-analyzing my astrology, I absolutely love this development for her. Elle being humbled by astrology just made me laugh so hard, because it's just so on brand for her.

While she’s definitely a Gemini icon no matter what, I think her having a Cancer cusp makes a lot of sense because that sign, in its broadest sense, is known to be for very intuitive, loyal, nurturing and moody people, which is Elle Woods!

From my understanding, when you’re a cusp, you can kind of take on the traits of both signs you are kind of in between, so Elle can be both now. Now every time I rewatch Legally Blonde, I'll be thinking about how Elle's darkest secret is probably that she's technically a Gemini/Cancer cusp. Here’s my favorite line that the whole scene leads up to:

Later on, Elle must have decided to claim her Gemini side rather than Cancer – but the teenage identity crisis in that moment on Elle is too perfect! Bravo to the creators, because this reveal was so well handled, and I'm claiming it for her.

You can tell that a movie like Reese Witherspoon’s Legally Blonde is a classic when we’re still quoting Elle Wood’s iconic lines and talking about the “bend and snap” a quarter-century after its release. Now we’re getting the chance to know the unlikely law student before Harvard, as the prequel Elle is set to hit the 2026 TV schedule. Reviews are here, and many critics have objections.

Elle, which will be available to stream with a Prime Video subscription starting July 1, takes place six years before the events of Legally Blonde. Newcomer Lexi Minetree is taking over Elle Woods duties from Reese Witherspoon, and the comparison pics between the two are pretty spot-on. So where do the critics’ issues lie? In his review of Elle, IndieWire’s Ben Travers says the prequel series doesn’t attempt any of the humor or charm that made us love the 2001 movie. Instead, he says, it’s a tired teen drama with a lazy (and inexplicable) mystery. He gives it a D+, writing:

One issue the reviews are calling out is one that we at CinemaBlend even pointed out after seeing Elle’s trailer: The series ultimately cheapens the plot of the movie by putting Elle through the same conflicts only six years earlier. Therese Lacson of Collider rates Elle 5 out of 10, confirming the very thing we were concerned about:

Marah Eakin of The Wrap says the prequel feels “thin and forced,” taking the heightened comedic fantasy world of Legally Blonde and replacing it with “a dour hellhole full of gloomy teens.” In Eakin’s words:

Dave Nemetz of TV Line says Elle is cute enough with some clever moments. However, there’s a certain “spunk” missing from it, as it trades what we loved about Legally Blonde for teen drama clichés. The critic gives it a C, writing:

It’s not all bad, though. Vicky Jessop of NME’s review of Elle gives it 4 out of 5 stars, saying that fans of Legally Blonde who are looking for more of the fish-out-of-water tale they love will be happy with this offering, which takes a lot of the movie’s beats and freshens them up for a modern-day audience. Jessop says:

It looks like a bit of a rough start for the Lexi Minetree-led series, though it’s definitely worth noting that the majority of the reviews I read went out of their way to compliment the actress’ portrayal of the beloved character. So far Rotten Tomatoes scores Elle Season 1 at 43% from 13 reviews.

It’s not easy to follow a role that’s so memorably executed by Reese Witherspoon. However, it sounds like the new actress took on the part with a lot of drive and enthusiasm.

Reese Witherspoon has had nothing but glowing things to say about Lexi Minetree too, as she says she has a “beautiful heart” and has made her “proud to pass the baton”. The prequel follows a 16-year-old Elle Woods circa 1995 as her family moves out to Seattle from Los Angeles, starting her at the bottom of the high school food chain and very out of place. We've already seen an Elle trailer, and Witherspoon's been pretty supportive of the endeavor in the time since. She’s previously shared comparison pictures of her and Minetree, and the resemblance is uncanny. I can only hope the newcomer captures Elle’s bubbly personality as well as she nails the pink wardrobe.

While fans are excited, they’re also a little nervous about the upcoming series. Personally. I do think they have a right to be a little worried. It’s no secret the second film isn’t quite as beloved as the first. While I didn’t mind the sequel, it was nowhere near as iconic or memorable. Though Luke Wilson did reprise his role, which we can all be thankful for. No one even remembers Legally Blondes, which was the franchise’s first attempt at a spin-off. So, how will a prequel fare?

I have rewatched Legally Blonde many times, and it still brings the same nostalgic joy that it did growing up. It was a rom-com that felt hopeful, sentimental, and OK, cheesy, but there’s a reason it’s still a classic. Seeing Reese Witherspoon stepping back into Elle’s shoes, even briefly, makes me want to experience the movie all over again. And I’m not the only one. After watching the actor’s bend and snap, Momuninterrupted says:

This is why Elle has a lot to live up to, and I hope that it can capture the same magic. I think Witherspoon feels hopeful, too. After all, she's producing, and has been supportive from the get-go. Or at least from the moment Minetree was cast.

It's unclear how much romance can be expected in the new series, or if the show will focus on the fish-out-of-water trope. That was briefly touched on when Elle first arrived at Harvard, a ray of pink in a sea of Earth tones. The trailer gave me Clueless vibes with her going from the colorful Bel-Air to the dreary Seattle after her dad gets a new job.

The new series plans to show fans how Elle became who she is. They can expect her to experience a few life lessons along the way. Catch Elle with an Amazon Prime subscription starting on July 1.

Elle Woods is officially getting the “how it started vs. how it’s going” treatment and, honestly, it's so good. Reese Witherspoon shared comparison images from Legally Blonde and its upcoming TV prequel, Elle, and the side-by-side shots make it clear that Lexi Minetree has been studying at the Church of Bend and Snap, but that’s not all. They both look “comfortable using legal jargon in everyday life.”

Witherspoon posted the photos to Instagram alongside Hello Sunshine, pairing some of her best Legally Blonde moments with Minetree’s take on a young Elle Woods. The result is less a simple nostalgia dump and more a pink, sparkly handoff across generations, complete with lounge chairs, landline drama, classroom confidence and enough Elle energy to pass the vibe check in front of a full admissions board. Elle is a prequel series coming to streaming for all with a Prime Video subscription. The story follows Elle Woods during her teenage years, long before Harvard Law, Warner Huntington III and that perfect courtroom hair flip. The series is scheduled to premiere July 1, 2026 and, as can be seen, Minetree is playing the younger version of the character Witherspoon made famous in the 2001 movie.

Witherspoon’s caption made the whole thing feel even more full circle. She wrote:

That is sweet, but the photos are doing a lot of the talking, too. The first comparison shows Witherspoon’s Elle reading on a bright red chaise with Bruiser nearby, paired with Minetree’s young Elle stretched out on a pink lounge chair, magazine in hand, looking like she already knows her future personal essay will destroy admissions season. Another image lines up the pink phone energy, with Witherspoon’s Elle on a fluffy bedroom setup and Minetree’s version beaming into a landline like she is about to casually change her entire life before third period.

Also, there's a classroom comparison, which may be the most important one. Witherspoon’s Elle in glasses and a sharp suit sits against Minetree’s young Elle in a softer pink school look. That’s where the prequel idea starts to click. Elle is not just trying to recreate outfits, though they are clearly part of the legal brief. It is trying to show the early version of the confidence, optimism and underestimated intelligence that made Elle Woods work in the first place. And that's why, despite my trepidation after seeing the show's first trailer, I'm cautiously optimistic.

Lexi Minetree Has Some Very Pink Shoes To Fill

The pressure on Minetree is real because Elle Woods is not just a character people remember. She is a whole pop-culture operating system. The original film is one of the best movies of the 2000s, as it follows Elle from sorority life to Harvard Law, where she proves she is far more than the assumptions people make about her. On that note, the line referenced in the headline comes from the original film, when Elle’s résumé includes being “comfortable using legal jargon in everyday life,” which remains one of the most Elle Woods sentences ever written.

The prequel takes the character back to the 1990s, focusing on her life before college and law school. According to recent reports, Elle explores her high school years and her move from Bel-Air to Seattle, with Reese Witherspoon and Hello Sunshine involved behind the scenes.

That setup gives the show room to answer a fun question: Was Elle always Elle, or did she have to build that confidence one pink accessory at a time? Based on Witherspoon’s comparison post, the answer seems to be both. Minetree’s version has the visual DNA down, but the real trick will be finding the person beneath the sparkle.

Despite how hard casting Elle was, these side-by-sides shared by the former series star have me feeling pretty confident that Minetree is right for the part and ready to pull it off. For now, the first-look comparisons are doing exactly what they should. They make Elle feel connected to the original without turning it into a wax museum version of Legally Blonde. The pink is there. The charm is there. The legal jargon may not be far behind.

Reese Witherspoon was in her early 20s when her iconic Hollywood career took off, and it seems like her daughter, Ava Phillippe, is following in her footsteps. The 26-year-old made her TV acting debut last year in an episode of Doctor Odyssey, and has also popped up in the Netflix show Ransom Canyon and Role Model’s “Look At That Woman” music video. So while her acting career is on the up and up, it was still a shock to see Phillippe all grown up and working with Yellowstone actor Luke Grimes, but Reese Witherspoon is one proud mama.

Country music fans received a big surprise on April 1st when Ella Langley dropped her music video for “Choosin’ Texas,” but the country music star was anything but fooling around. The star-studded video features appearances from Grimes, Langley, Miranda Lambert, Kaitlin Butts, and, of course, Phillippe, plus a couple of very obvious product placements for Jack Daniel's whisky.

Given Grimes recent return to the world of Yellowstone in the spin-off Marshals, paired with Langley’s sweep at the 2025 ACM Awards, this is a wild country collab for Phillippe to land, and Witherspoon took to Instagram to celebrate her daughter’s role:

Upon seeing this, I was so excited to watch the music video, but I wasn’t prepared to see how grown-up Phillippe looks.

The Morning Show actress was younger than her daughter when she had her kids, Ava and Deacon Phillippe, with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe. Her kids grew up in the spotlight, joining her on movie sets like Legally Blonde, This Means War, and Wild. It seems like only a few years ago they were entering college. The Election actress was in her feels upon seeing the video as well, posting the following snapshot to her Instagram story:

I know it’s been said time and time again, but wow, Ava Phillippe really is her mom’s mini-me. If you told me this was a still of Witherspoon from Sweet Home Alabama, I’d probably believe you. Even now, they still look so similar, and the Fear actress just turned 50, which is more of a testament to Witherspoon’s ageless abilities.

In the video, Phillippe plays the childhood sweetheart Grimes’ character left behind in Texas. Langley, who is romantically linked to Grimes’ character, sings of how she can’t compete with their history, as Phillippe and the Marshals actor catch glances from across a crowded bar. I know it’s only a small part, but the Dior Beauty model plays the subtle pining so well, you can feel everything unresolved between her and the Eddington actor with just their looks. I’m sure it helped to be working alongside a veteran actor like Grimes, and props to Ella Langley, too, who directed the video.

Phillippe shared her love and appreciation for the experience on her own Instagram, giving the country music singer her flowers in the caption:

I have to say, the more I see of Ava Phillippe, the more excited I am for her first lead role. The actress is set to star alongside Sam Morelos (Summer of ‘69) in Tommy Dorfman’s film adaptation of the graphic novel Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me. Phillippe will play the titular character, Laura Dean, the most charming, popular girl in school, who Freddie (Sam) can’t stay away from. Dorfman told The Hollywood Reporter that the two leads’ chemistry is electric, and I couldn’t be more excited to see Phillippe’s feature film debut in this upcoming LGBTQ+ movie.

However, while we wait for that, I'll be hyping up this music video just like her mom has been.

Reese Witherspoon celebrated a milestone birthday this weekend, turning 50 on March 22, and it’s no surprise that the beloved actress was showered with parasocial love from those around her. As she received lovely (and, in one case, musical) messages from friends like Kerry Washington, Jennifer Garner, Mindy Kaling, Gwyneth Paltrow and many more, she returned the favor with sweet words of her own for her loved ones.

In the case of Jennifer Garner, I can definitely see why Reese Witherspoon would be inspired to share a personalized message to her Instagram Stories. The 13 Going on 30 star whipped out the saxophone for a rendition of “You Are My Sunshine,” with images of the birthday girl and animated suns popping up around her as she played:

This practice of responding to well-wishes with personalized greetings is actually really on brand for Reese Witherspoon, given her “very important” rule about returning to The Morning Show. It makes a lot of sense that someone who would make a point of telling everyone hello on the first day back on set would also prioritize replying to her birthday posts.

While The Morning Show Season 5 is filming now, we’re unlikely to get that batch of episodes before 2027, but we’re definitely looking forward to the Legally Blonde prequel Elle, which Reese Witherspoon is executive producing. The Morning Show is one of the best series streaming on Apple TV, so it’s no surprise to know that there’s a fifth season on the way. Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston are returning as Bradley Jackson and Alex Levy, respectively, and it seems they're already getting back into their groove. Filming has apparently kicked off on the new season of the dramedy, and Witherspoon celebrated with a post. In it, the star shared a very important rule for the first day back to set.

The Legally Blonde star shared a fun video from the set of The Morning Show on Instagram with plenty of BTS clips, with Drake’s “Started From the Bottom” playing over the video. While walking on the studio lot, Witherspoon shared what she aims to do on the first day, and I'd say we could stand to take a page out of her book:

A little kindness certainly goes a long way. Over the years, various actors and crew members have spoken about the importance of maintaining a positive vibe on set, and that seems to be the case for The Morning Show. Witherspoon can be seen throwing out high fives everywhere, and giving out compliments and hugs!

That's all truly lovely to see, considering the star power that’s on that show. Even five seasons in, the cast and crew don’t seem to be letting up and, if I was on a show with that kind of atmosphere, I would feel energized as well. Check out WItherspoon's post:

While niceties and compliments are being given on set amid filming, the on-screen drama on the show itself will likely heat up this season. Aniston previously revealed what it’s really like shooting The Morning Show and how it is a “beast” to film. The series itself is layered, complicated, emotional and topical, so I can understand why it would take a toll on someone to film it at times. This could also be why kindness is an important rule on set, and I would hope that cheerful vibe would help to counterbalance the weight of the heavy material.

The Morning Show snagged a Season 5 renewal in September, ahead of the Season 4 premiere. With filming now in progress, I would hope that the show will follow the release format of the previous seasons by going with a fall premiere. However, there has been a two-year wait between each season, so it’s possible fans might have to wait a little bit. As of now, it hasn’t been confirmed when Season 5 is expected and, as a fan, I'm hoping for good news on that front.

No matter how long it takes for Season 5 to premiere and become available for Apple TV subscription holders, I'm just happy that the cast and crew seem to be having a blast filming. Kudos to Reese Witherspoon -- who's a producer on the show -- for continuing to lead with kindness as the hit show continues its run.

James Van Der Beek tragically died on February 11; however, he still has a project that will be premiering on the 2026 TV schedule, and that show is the Legally Blonde prequel, Elle. So, in honor of her colleague, Reese Witherspoon paid a “devastated” tribute to the late star of the series she’s executive producing.

News of the Dawson’s Creek actor’s passing came after a long battle with Stage 3 colorectal cancer. The news of his death was announced on his Instagram, and immediately, a flood of loving comments and tributes came in. This included one from Reese Witherspoon, as she took to her Instagram story to repost the news and share a tribute. She wrote:

Along with these touching and tragic words, The Morning Show star also reposted the following video that Van Der Beek had uploaded to his Instagram in March of 2025:

The video, which you can watch above, shows the actor talking about the last year of his life and his battle with cancer. He was candid about how hard the year had been, and he explained that he realized he was “worthy of God’s love, simply because [he exists].” And with that in mind, he realized he was worthy of his own love. Over on Witherspoon’s IG story, she commented “Beautiful” over the video.

Adding to the love and support Witherspoon has shown on social media during this tragic moment, she also left the following comment on the Instagram post that announced Van Der Beek’s passing:

Now, all this comes in the months leading up to the release of Elle, the Legally Blonde prequel series. The show, which will be available with an Amazon Prime subscription starting July 1, is being executive-produced by the actress who originated the role of Elle Woods. It will follow her iconic character through high school before her days at Harvard Law, and the younger version of Elle will be played by Lexi Minetree.

Van Der Beek will play Dean Wilson in Elle. He’s a mayoral candidate for the city as well as the school district superintendent. So, it sounds like he has a major part to play in the prequel series.

While Elle will be Van Der Beek’s final on-screen role, it is not his only project that will come out after his death. This other project is a film called The Gates, and it will be released on the 2026 movie schedule on March 13. Directed by John Burr, the flick also stars Mason Gooding, Algee Smith and Keith Powers, with Van Der Beek set to play a character named Jacob.

So, as we mourn the loss of this wonderful actor, thankfully, he still has some exciting work to look forward to. Specifically, if you’d like to see the project he worked on with Reese Witherspoon, which will also serve as his final on-screen role, you can start streaming Elle on July 1.

Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Garner have been buddies for years, so it’s only natural that they have exchanged advice and supported each other through difficult times over the course of that friendship. The 13 Going on 30 actress obviously takes it to heart, because she revealed something Witherspoon told her to do 20 years ago that she still does to this day — even if the Legally Blonde star doesn’t seem to remember saying it.

The actresses posted a video to Instagram recently showing a video call between them. After they exchanged warm greetings, Jennifer Garner admitted:

Either way, it seems like good advice to me. Just imagine whose numbers could have been gleaned from Matthew McConaughey’s phone when he lost it on a rollercoaster. You also never know when somebody’s going to catch a glimpse of something they’re not supposed to see — Kendall Jenner got The Golden Bachelor’s first season spoiled for her when she saw Theresa Nist’s name in Gerry Turner’s contacts before the short-lived couple went public.

It does seem like a tedious practice, though. If everyone’s under a nickname, how do you remember who’s who? You could add their real name as a nickname and then do a search when you need to find someone, which might keep an eavesdropper from knowing who you’re talking to, but it wouldn’t help in the case of a lost or stolen phone.

Honestly, I have to wonder what Jennifer Garner’s nickname for Reese Witherspoon is, since she admitted to having one. There’s no way Garner simply used Witherspoon’s real name, Laura Jeanne, is there? Jennifer Aniston would have a field day with that.

Either way, it’s fun to see these two collaborate for a social media post together and get a glimpse into their decades-long friendship. Over the years, Jennifer Garner has shown how much she values Reese Witherspoon, sending her birthday greetings — sometimes via saxophone performance — and dancing with the Rockettes at the request of her friend.

Most recently the two have come together for The Last Thing He Told Me, a book-to-screen adaptation streaming with an Apple TV subscription. Both Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Garner are executive producers on the series, with Garner leading The Last Thing He Told Me’s cast. Fans won’t have to wait much longer for Season 2, as the series is set to return to the 2026 TV schedule on Friday, February 20.

One thing I’ve always appreciated about Reese Witherspoon is her love of Christmas. Whether she’s sharing her always-excellent holiday decor or showing off her adorable (and now very college-aged) children, it comes off like the actress appreciates both the aesthetic and the coziness of the holiday season, something I also very much identify with. So, I wasn’t surprised when she took to social to give everyone an update on Deacon and Ava, not to mention the younger Tenn, but I was surprised by the fun Laura Dern cameo that popped up.

‘Tis the season for sparkly fashion, big Christmas trees, fancy charcuterie boards, snow, and plenty of shopping sprees. Witherspoon looks like she’s been a busy lady the last few weeks, “making merry,” as she herself put it. There’s a bunch of cute photos from her celebrity holiday, including one semi-matching fashion photo with Ava, but if you scroll to the end you’ll see the actress shopping with her Big Little Lies pal Dern.

The two are fairly frequent collaborators in Hollywood, with projects like Wild, Big Little Lies and the producing collaboration Tiny Beautiful Things under their collective belt.

Reese famously said Dern taught her so many wonderful things. They cemented their friendship during their time together promoting Wild, where they initially grew close. She famously told the New York Times that it was the taller actress who taught her to “love red vines” and how to correctly wear “brown lipstick.”

A lot of times when actors spend a ton of time together on a set, they then move on to other projects and may not hear from one another for years, if ever. It’s nice to see this hasn’t been the case with Reese Witherspoon and her Wild pal, who are clearly bffs still. The two absolutely make time for one another, even during the busy holiday season. The whole thing makes my holiday heart grow three sizes larger (not that it needed to get any bigger; I’m no grinch, y’all.)

Anyway, there’s nothing I love more than the holidays, and there’s nothing I love to report on more than celebrities making the best of their own holiday seasons. I’m so glad we got these pics, and if you haven’t taken a look yet, yes, they also include a lot of commenters talking about how Reese and Ava are “twins.” Though, we all know how dad Ryan Philippe actually feels about who looks like who.

Miles Teller’s latest 2025 movie release, Eternity, received positive reactions from both critics and fans, and I'd argue it serves as a fresh, new entry in the romantic comedy genre. As it stands, the genre is an interesting spot, and there are some who see it as being in decline, like Resse Witherspoon. The actress -- who's starred in plenty of rom-coms -- recently shared her take on that, and Teller eventually issued a response.

What Reese Witherspoon Said About Rom-Coms

Reese Witherspoon was a guest on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast, and she got real about her belief that dating culture has changed. What’s the reason? The Legally Blonde icon theorized that the decline of romantic portrayals in movies and TV have contributed to the decline in youths taking initiative in starting relationships:

Reese Witherspoon makes a reasonable point. Rom-coms can (theoretically) show today's young people what it's like to have the confidence to pursue love outside of DMs and social media profiles. Movies like Say Anything… and Love Actually even convey messages of not being afraid to make the first move.

Even look at work from the Oscar winner herself, as some of Witherspoon's best roles were in rom-coms. Sweet Home Alabama conveys the lesson of not rushing into a relationship until someone knows themself. The Importance of Being Earnest is also about being truthful from the start. And Just Like Heaven conveys themes in regard to a person putting their guard down to let love in. Witherspoon previously said rom-coms are rewatched more than auteur movies, which could speak to just how well done said movies are.

Miles Teller Weighed In On Reese Witherspoon's Take

Other than Eternity, Miles Teller has had his share of rom-coms, too, like Two Night Stand, The Awkward Moment and The Spectacular Now. So he's definitely familiar with the genre. While discussing his fantasy rom-com with VT, he was told about Reese Witherspoon’s comments regarding the supposed decline of the genre. Here was the talented actor’s adorable response to that:

I would never turn down a romantic comedy starring the queen herself! Though it's worth mentioning that Witherspoon did make a rom-com that was released earlier this year, You’re Cordially Invited (which is streaming with a Prime Video subscription). Considering Witherspoon brings her own brand of adorableness and humor into the genre, I’d love for her to keep making such movies that are entertaining and give the youth of today an idea of how to take initiative and ask someone out.

Romance films may not be popping like they did in the ‘90s/'00s and in the decades before those eras. Yet that doesn’t mean good ones haven’t been made. In fact, 2025 has been a great year for rom-coms. Not only has Eternity done well, but Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy was a success as well. Also, critics loved Bowen Yang’s The Wedding Banquet.

So, with audiences still seemingly in the mood for love, let’s cross our fingers that we'll see more movies in the rom-com genre for years to come. Let's also hope that Miles Teller and Reese Witherspoon continue to appear in such films as well.

There is more than one Christmas Queen in Hollywood (though Hallmark would probably argue the title goes to Lacey Chabert). Outside of upcoming Christmas movies, fan-favorite actress Reese Witherspoon has often pulled out the stops when it comes to holiday decor. Her decor taste is pretty high-end in my book, but this winter season, she’s turned her hall into a “magical wonderland, and I can't get enough.

No, there are no angels, stars and mistletoe, but her tabletop decor is both unexpected and swoon-worthy. At the very least, it's worth a look.

Yes, that is owl and mushroom decor. What I like about it is that it's the type of look that can easily transition from Halloween to Thanksgiving and even wintry Christmas. Well, maybe after making a few small changes, including switching out that pumpkin I’m spotting in the corner. Swap that for a little fake snow and your "magical wonderland" becomes the perfect winter wonderland. We already know Reese is a big decorating person, at least around the holidays. She’s shown off stairwell holiday decor, as well as her cool, creamy Christmas tree in the past. Saturday Night Live Season 51 is in full swing on the 2025 TV schedule, with all new hosts and a number of new cast members. A good number of repertory players carried over from last season, including the great impressionist Chloe Fineman. The late-in-life comedian, who is entering her sixth season with the iconic sketch comedy show, revealed she auditioned with a Reese Witherspoon impression to secure her place at Studio 8H, and the moment recently came full circle when she met The Morning Show actress in person.

The Summer of 69 actress has been known to impersonate everyone from JoJo Siwa to Timothée Chalamet. In 2020, the Cruel Intentions actress invited the SNL cast member fresh off her first complete season to moderate a Legally Blonde Zoom reunion because of her viral Reese Witherspoon impressions:

What’s a little less common, but not unheard of, is when the star behind a part can’t separate from their character’s attributes. This case stands true for Reese Witherspoon while starring in Alexander Payne’s dark comedy, Election. The A-lister shares that after filming, she had ongoing health issues after leaving the set.

The last we, and Mr. McAllister, saw of her, she was getting into a politician’s car. I assume she’s continued to light up any political or global endeavor sphere she’s thrown her hat into. Let’s just hope she’s found a healthier outlet than wiggling her nose and clenching her teeth whilst scheming.

As for Reese Witherspoon and the immediate health issues resulting in her life after Miss Flick, all seems to have healed nicely. It also seems that no character preparation for a role since have been any competition for her. And now the showrunner has explained why this return made sense for this season's story.

While some folks figure out how to watch The Morning Show Season 4, I had seen the third episode early, prior to interviewing the cast. Keeping quiet on Claire's return was hard, because I was so happy to see this loose end brought back. Showrunner Charlotte Stoudt spoke with Deadline about how this came about, revealing:

She's not wrong. A big reason why Claire left her job as a PA on The Morning Show is because of Hannah's death, and the way the institution failed her. The last time we saw her she said she was glad Mitch was dead, and hoped Fred would follow suit. That's definitely the type of energy that Stoudt is describing.

In the first few episodes of The Morning Show Season 4, Reese Witherspoon's Bradley Jackson was contacted by an anonymous source with information about a cover up at UBA going back years. Reese Witherspoon’s success in entertainment has shown through her best movies and TV shows, as well as her own production company, Hello Sunshine. However, success in Hollywood doesn’t come without stress when the paparazzi get involved. Even though she and ex Ryan Phillippe’s kids, Ava and Deacon, are now adults in their 20s, Witherspoon recalls not having fond memories of the media “banging on the door” after her divorce.

Cruel Intentions co-stars Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe, who got married in 1999 and had two children, officially got divorced in 2007 with joint custody of their kids. Their reasoning for the split was due to "irreconcilable differences,” with rumors at the time saying that Phillippe reportedly had an affair with actress Abbie Cornish.

While Witherspoon spoke to The NY Times about her and actress Jennifer Garner trying to protect their kids from the media, the Walk the Line actress shared not-so-fond memories of the paparazzi “banging on the door” and scaring her children during this tough time in everyone’s lives. I’ve gotta say that her story has left me shaken:

I can’t even imagine how terrible that must have been for the whole family to experience. Parents getting a divorce is already a vulnerable time. Based on Reese Witherspoon’s claims, the paparazzi interference would just be adding fuel to the fire, with no care about respecting children’s privacy.

Ryan Phillippe previously said in 2022 that people would try to pit him against the Just Like Heaven actress back when they were married, making it seem like he was jealous of his then-wife’s success. This speculation could have been due to the 2002 Oscars stage moment when Phillippe allowed Witherspoon to read the winner, saying, “You make more money than I do. Go ahead.” Despite the media’s twist on that moment, the Crash actor described himself as “pro-woman,” proving how the media can inaccurately shape the narrative.

Witherspoon continued to express sympathy to other celebrities chased down by the media, like Britney Spears, who she felt was portrayed as the “bad girl” compared to a young mom trying to raise her kids as best as she could. Reese Witherspoon continued to get real about how she tried to protect her own kids from the paparazzi, and it sounds like no picnic:

Divorce is not a black-and-white issue. Witherspoon continued to be honest about how the media chose only to portray sensational moments they could capture compared to the full extent of what the family went through:

Jennifer Garner definitely knows what it’s like for her and her children to be under the radar of the press after her divorce from Ben Affleck in 2017. So I can imagine how freeing it must have felt for her and Reese Witherspoon to use social media to take back control and post their own family photos instead of being at the mercy of the tabloids.

Fortunately, celebrity parents like Jennifer Garner and Halle Berry refused to let the paparazzi continue to exploit their children’s lives. As reported by The LA Times in 2013, the two A-listers testified before Congress to enact SB 606—an anti-harassment law to make it a misdemeanor to attempt to photograph or film the child of a celebrity in a “harassing manner.”

The new law was enacted in January 2014, with the first offense penalty being up to one year in jail and a fine not exceeding $10,000. With a law like this, celebrity parents can rest assured that their children can be protected from unwanted footage.

Reese Witherspoon may not have forgotten about the paparazzi “banging on the door” after her divorce from Ryan Phillippe. At the same time, her two children are now grown adults taking control of their lives, with Deacon venturing into acting and Ava taking on modeling and having a social media presence. It sounds like the Sweet Home Alabama actress had to grow up pretty quickly. I'd be tempted to think it must've been nice for Witherspoon to have another actress a few years older to help her navigate the Hollywood of it all. After that guest spot on Friends, the Aniston/Witherspoon friendship just blossomed, according to the latter:

Isn’t that what friends (and surrogate older sisters) are for? Hearing Witherspoon talk about her bond with the We’re The Millers actress makes me wish we had seen them play sisters on Friends for more than two episodes. Luckily, these two BFFs have worked together again since then. They're currently starring on the Emmy-winning series The Morning Show. This time around, they play frenemies but, according to an executive producer, we will get to see the pair's characters, Alex and Bradley, bring out the best of each other as their relationship develops.

The Legally Blonde star went on to explain that her full name is Laura Jean Reese Witherspoon, but she’s always gone by Reese. Possibly in an effort to help Jennifer Aniston recover, Witherspoon turned the focus to her co-star's name, which led to more adorable banter between the two:

She called being on those two Season 6 episodes one of her “scariest moments ever,” and admitted she has some regrets because Friends apparently asked her to come back on the show, but she declined because she was “too scared.”

Reese Witherspoon is a woman of many talents, to say the least. She’s obviously a skilled actor (with an Oscar, to boot), and she's become a prolific super producer. However, what I didn’t know is that she possessed the abilities of an impressionist. Well, to be more specific, Witherspoon has the ability to mimic at least one of her celebrity friends and co-stars, Nicole Kidman. Witherspoon recently showed off her impersonation of Kidman during an interview, and I dare you not to chuckle while checking out the video.

The Hello Sunshine co-founder has been promoting The Morning Show Season 4 as of late and recently stopped by the Las Culturistas Podcast amid the press tour. During the conversation, co-host Matt Rogers asked Witherspoon what it’s like when she has conversations with Nicole Kidman. From there, Witherspoon broke out into her impression, which had Rogers and co-host Bowen Yang in stitches. Check out the moment in the video Rogers shared to Instagram:

Honestly, the thought of someone watching the clip above and not laughing at all just seems impossible to me. First off, Reese Witherspoon’s impression is so perfect, it actually hurts. She easily channels Nicole Kidman’s distinct candor, which is marked by her Australian accent. I’m not even joking when I say that if I’d only heard the impression portion of this clip, I’d swear I was actually hearing Kidman herself. Bravo to Witherspoon for effectively channeling her fellow actress.

What this humorous moment seems to speak to is the close bond that the two Big Little Lies stars have cultivated up to this point. Friends who spend a considerable amount of time together typically come to understand each other’s personality ticks and idiosyncrasies. The same goes for family members as well. For me, personally, I’ve reached the point where I can effectively mimic some of my best friends and relatives.

As far as celebrities go, there are more than a few who have the ability to impersonate other people. SNL star Chloe Fineman, for example, does an incredible Drew Barrymore impression, and the talk show host herself even approves of it. Jamie Foxx also does a spot-on impersonation of Donald Trump. I’ve personally been surprised by some impressions, including Ayo Edebiri’s ability to mimic the Dune theme song (which is too perfect).

I wager that Reese Witherspoon replicates Nicole Kidman’s voice so well because they’ve spent so much time together over the years. Now, it seems the two will be on a set again together at some point in the future. The long-discussed Big Little Lies Season 3 is now reportedly in development, and cast member Shailene Woodley is already hyping it. It’s still early days for the production, as the writers are only being assembled. However, it seems fans can look forward to seeing the Monterey Five again.

Before all of that, though, Witherspoon’s fans may want to check out the new season of The Morning Show (which is streamable with an Apple TV+ subscription). Those who love dramatic and emotional storytelling will surely get something out of it. However, if you ever need to take a break from the heaviness and get a quick laugh, I’d recommend popping on the clip of Witherspoon impersonating Kidman. (Also, I wonder if I’m the only one who’s now wondering if Witherspoon can impersonate Morning co-star Jennifer Aniston, too.)

Today, when Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston come up in conversation many think of their streaming Apple TV+ subscription series, The Morning Show. But, if you are familiar with either, you likely know they had a small stint 25 years ago on Friends. Witherspoon played Rachel Green’s kid sister, Jill, and hasn’t been shy in recounting her surreal experience on set and acting for a crowd. Apparently, the 49-year-old revealed a new tidbit not even her current co-star knew.

Without question, Friends is far and away one of the most influential and best sitcoms ever. Between live tapings, the palpable chemistry and talent of the six person cast, the iconic series was big even then, bringing in great guest stars.

And the Big Little Lies actress’ guest appearance came up while the two A-listers interviewed each other for ET (per its Instagram). After sharing that Aniston was sweet then, she couldn’t do more than two episodes because she was terrified of the theater element. With that, Witherspoon asked the Rachel Green actress if she’d ever done it again:

After the question was posed, The Morning Show Season 4 co-stars locked eyes with one another in anticipation of the others’ reaction. The 56-year-old confirmed she didn’t know the count and was baffled at the answer after Witherspoon after showing the count with her hands.

It really does showcase how deep this fear went and apparently still is for her. As mentioned, the Legally Blonde star still considers her Friends guest spot as one of her scariest moments ever. So, all of it does make sense, but she explains some of her initial thoughts, including remorse about the gig:

Who knew there was something so jarring to Witherspoon? In my mind, I don’t think there are more than a handful of moments for her that are anything less than her signature hopeful sunshine-y self. But, everyone has something they’re at least fearful of including high profile celebs. Although, I’d be lying if the confession doesn’t retroactively make me want more Jill Green episodes, she would’ve been even better with a few more episodes.

For my own good, I won’t dwell on what could’ve been for Witherspoon’s stint on the live Friends stage. Legally Blonde was right around the corner anyway. Plus, we’ve had the pair of actresses behind the Green sisters back on screen together for a few years now. Speaking of, The Morning Show returns today, September 17, with its Season 4 premiere on the 2025 TV schedule.

Pixar was once unstoppable when it came to its films. It introduced countless new characters over dozens of films, with many of them becoming successful franchises. Of late, Pixar’s original stories have struggled at the box office, and Elio, the story of a boy looking for a home in another world, is just the latest to not draw an audience. That said, the movie is quite good, and if you have a Disney+ subscription, you owe it to yourself to check it out.

Gen V, Season 2 - September 17 (Prime Video)

The Boys and its various spinoffs have become one of the best reasons to get and keep a Prime Video subscription. While the main show is heading toward its final season, the college spinoff Gen V enters its second season this week. It will be our first look at how the fallout from The Boys impacted these characters, and we can expect all the mature superhero action the franchise has continued to provide.

One of Apple TV+’s early original series, The Morning Show, returns for Season 4 this week. Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston are back alongside a host of returning and new characters. Fans who have been waiting to see what happens next with the network TV drama will want to have their Apple TV+ subscription ready to go.

Black Rabbit September 18 (Netflix)

Jude Law and Jason Bateman were a pairing I wasn’t necessarily expecting, but at first glance, Black Rabbit looks like it might have a lot to offer and be the best reason to have a Netflix subscription this week. Bateman plays a down-on-his-luck guy who is in deep with organized crime. He turns to his brother, a successful restaurateur, played by Law, for help, and ends up drawing him into the criminal underworld too.

Tulsa King, Season 3 - September 21 (Paramount+)

Tulsa King, with Sylvester Stallone, was one of the earliest hits among those with a Paramount+ subscription, and now the series is getting ready to enter its third season. While we certainly don’t know everything that’s set to happen in the new season, one thing we do know is that it will introduce us to a new character, played by Samuel L. Jackson, setting up his own spinoff series, NOLA King.

If you’re waiting for Slow Horses or Marvel Zombies, you won’t have to wait too much longer./ September is almost over, and both shows will arrive before the month is out.

Lately she’s been making big moves and big bank with the decision to sell her company (while staying on as Chief Creative Officer), and in celebrating the $1 billion deal, she recreated an appropriate scene from Legally Blonde.

Hailey Bieber’s big Rhode sale comes at a pretty eventful time in the Biebers’ lives. Her and Justin’s son Jack Blues turned 1 year old in August, and the pop star has effectively released two albums in the past couple of months, with SWAG II making a surprise debut on September 5 with 23 bonus tracks added to the 21 he put out on SWAG in July. The albums contain the “Peaches” singer’s first new music since 2021.

All of the excitement follows some seemingly tough times for the couple, who got married in 2018. Rumors that Justin and Hailey’s marriage was in trouble plagued the couple for months before he promised he “ain’t walkin’ away” in a song on his July album.

Since then the couple has been seen dancing together to live music, making out at a celebrity-filled party and just “living life and eating pasta” on a recent date night.

Fans seem to love the success that Hailey Bieber has come into, especially when she nods at another of our favorite powerful women in Elle Woods.

It’s always a long two years between seasons of The Morning Show but, mercifully, we’ve come to the end of our latest hiatus. Season 4 is set to hit the 2025 TV schedule on September 17, and I am desperate to see Jennifer Aniston’s Alex Levy and Reese Witherspoon’s Bradley Jackson again (preferably in the same scenes) when the upcoming Apple TV+ show returns. EP Charlotte Stoudt teased their reunion, and I wasn’t expecting her comparison to Wicked.

Following the third season, fans of one of the best series on Apple TV+ complained that Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon didn’t appear in enough scenes together. While the showrunner admitted that the fictional TV hosts’ relationship is “pretty bumpy,” Alex and Bradley will always be important to one another’s story. She told TV Insider:

Wow, I did not see that one coming, but it makes sense. There’s a lot that’s different about Alex and Bradley, just like with Elphaba and Glinda (Galinda?) in Wicked. But each character brings something out of their counterpart and, in the case of The Morning Show, we just have to hope they bring out the best in each other.

(As for which TMS character would be Oz the Great and Powerful, we're all thinking Billy Crudup’s Cory Ellison, right? It seems like he’s always got something going on behind the curtain.)

In The Morning Show Season 4 (streaming with an Apple TV+ subscription), we’ll see the fallout of Bradley’s decision to turn herself in to the FBI after destroying evidence from January 6, as Alex deals with her new responsibilities following the UBA-NBN merger. Stella Bak (Greta Lee) is included in that as the new CEO, as well as part-owner Celine Dumont, played by new cast member Marion Cotillard.

These are some great and powerful women indeed, but Charlotte Stoudt warns that they’ll face plenty of obstacles. She said:

That alone sounds like enough of a real-world hook for Season 4. However, after The Morning Show tackled the Me Too movement, COVID, January 6 and abortion rights (among other things) in its first three seasons, we know a little bit about what’s in store for this next chapter, and it's more than gender politics. According to the EP, the journalists will be fighting deepfakes, A.I. and misinformation.

We’re certainly in for a ride, and I’m afraid it’s going to take Alex and Bradley more than a magic wand and a broomstick to get them out of that tornado. Tune in to see the soapy drama continue when The Morning Show Season 4 premieres Wednesday, September 17, on Apple TV+.

She's won various awards, founded a female-focused production company and led a highly popular book club. What seems to matter most to Witherspoon, however, is being a mom to her three (lookalike) kids: Ava, Deacon and Tennessee. The commitment that she has to her professional and personal lives is wildly commendable. I love how frankly and humbly Reese Witherspoon lays all of this out, too. I can't imagine being a young mom while having to contend with the highs and lows of Hollywood as well. At least when it comes to Witherspoon’s experience, it seems like perseverance as well as her signature, upbeat attitude helped her move through long days and seldom moments of alone time.

Of course, now the Walk the Line star's child-raising situation is a lot different. Ava and Deacon Phillippe are now 25 and 21, respectively, while Tennessee Toth is 12. Before all of that, though, this famous Hollywood family hard to embark upon a path that, as Witherspoon relays it, involved her kids spending much of their formative years on the road. She also shared a funny take on what the whole situation "looked" like:

It’s funny to think that the The Morning Show Season 4 star gets advised by her offspring on occasion (surely, with love). I guess that even the biggest names on the 2025 movie schedule aren’t immune to a reality check from their kid!

Seriously though, even amid some more lighthearted moments, Reese Witherspoon had plenty of rough times. With every passing year, Ryan Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon post about their mini-me kids, continuing to remind the public that the youngins are spot-on copies of their parents. What the A-list co-parent clan hasn't previously experienced is adding another dopplegänger into the mix as a significant other. Eldest child Ava, who is no stranger to responding to bold online comments, humorously dropped a response post to someone (pretty reasonably) aligning her boyfriend’s looks to her dad’s.

Firstly, the TikTok commenter’s opinion is based on how the Motorheads actor looked in the revealing and still iconic role in Cruel Intentions (the film starring her parents), not her present-day dad. To reply to the oddball thought, a quick video of her and boyfriend, Dakota Brubaker, who replicated Phillippe’s black turtleneck-glasses look, was posted. Their reaction while reading the comment back and responding is the best part–take a look for yourself:

It’s kind of shocking how the TikTok user isn’t entirely wrong about the idea! But she did say ‘close enough,’ and if it weren’t for the young couple leaning into it, maybe it’s a farther stretch. Regardless, this clip is hilarious, and to have overlaid Bittersweet Symphony, the movie’s closing song, is an incredible cherry on top. As you can see, everyone is loving this clone-like gag! The discourse attached matches the funny video perfectly and is wholly entertaining. All of it, along with the bit, makes me want to go watch the 1999 flick with an Amazon Prime subscription.

Though the matriarch and patriarch of this family aren’t the only two in the biz anymore. Ava and her brother, Deacon, both booked their first jobs and have already been featured in the 2025 TV schedule. Deacon joined their dad on the new Amazon Prime show, Motorheads, while she had a cameo spot on Doctor Odyssey (available to stream with a Hulu subscription). And like any great mom does, Witherspoon celebrated Ava's TV debut with a sweet social media post.

As for the new goofy, yet uncomfortable, addition of boyfriend Dakota resembling Ryan Phillippe, I’m glad they’re all good sports about it. Time sure does fly for everyone, including famous A-listers. As we all know, Ryan Phillippe met Reese Witherspoon when they were in their early twenties. They fell in love and subsequently worked on one of the best '90s teen movies, Cruel Intentions. From their time as a couple, they had two kids (Ava and Deacon) who are now in their 20s (which is hard to believe). Phillippe recently emphasized how old his kids are getting too by sharing a story about visiting his college-aged son at college that most parents can relate to.

The I Know What You Did Last Summer alum stopped by The Kelly Clarkson Show to chat about his project on the 2025 TV schedule, Motorheads. In the show, which you can stream with a Prime subscription, his 21-year-old son, Deacon, plays his brother in flashbacks. However, alongside that, he is also a student at NYU, and Phillippe shared an all too real monetary experience of visiting his kid on campus, saying:

Any parent could’ve sniffed this anecdote out from a mile away. We’ve seen it in movies and television, and as kids start hitting those more independent milestones (cellphones, cars, etc) in real life. Thankfully, I’ve still got a handful of years before any of these antics start knocking at my door.

For The Lincoln Lawyer actor and his ex, though, the times are changing, as their son continues his education and Witherspoon looks into buying a place in NYC to be closer to her NYU student.

I know that I pulled the same stunts on my parents after moving to college, even in a tiny country town. Knowing there was that extra cushion from mom and dad on almost anything was pretty great. Now, I’m shaking my head at those decisions and wonder how it’ll get spun on me. Let’s just say it’s a combo deal of an underdeveloped prefrontal cortex (students) and a mentality of "so thrilled to spend time with your student, you can’t see straight" (parental figures).

While Deacon is on set, studying, and still leveraging his parents, Ava, who’s a mini-me of her dad, Phillippe, also just made her television debut. She cameoed on Doctor Odyssey, and Witherspoon celebrated AP's first TV stint, which made a small homage to Elle Woods and Legally Blonde. Needless to say, the talent runs deep in this family, in all sorts of ways, including securing the financial perks when parents are visiting.

Let’s just hope this fun rite of passage for Deacon (and his friends) stays at college. It seems he won’t be turning to Phillippe or Witherspoon for a regular supply like Lena Dunham’s Hannah Horvath in Girls anytime soon.

It would appear that Reese Witherspoon and her boyfriend, Oliver Haarmann, are preparing to make a big move, literally. That’s because it’s been reported that the couple is looking at apartments in New York City, and they’re allegedly doing it for a sweet reason, as well.

Earlier this spring, it was alleged that Witherspoon and Haarmann were looking at a high-end building in New York City, per Page Six. Sixteen Fifth Avenue is very close to Washington Square Park, which is, notably, where New York University is too. To that point, the source said they were looking there, in part, because the actress’s son goes to school at NYU:

Well, that’s really sweet. Deacon Phillippe, who is the son of Witherspoon and her ex-husband Ryan Phillippe, is right in the middle of his college experience at NYU, per People. So, his mom looking into apartments close to the school doesn’t seem like a coincidence, as this source implied, she allegedly wants to “be close” to her kids.

However, that’s not the only reason the couple might be putting down roots in New York. Witherspoon’s beau is also based in the city. His Searchlight Capital private equity firm is headquartered in NYC. Not to mention, it’s been two years since Witherspoon and Jim Toth’s divorce was announced, and she’s been linked to her current boyfriend since 2024, which adds another solid reason to be looking for a home in Manhattan.

When they first started dating, it was reported that The Morning Show actress would fly between Tennessee and NYC to be with her partner. So, while she still has a home down South, it also tracks that she’d want a place that is closer to both her partner and her son.

Overall, I think it’s sweet that they are allegedly making this move to be closer to family, seeing as the Legally Blonde star is clearly close to her children -- she shares two kids with Ryan Phillippe, Ava and Deacon, and one with Toth, whose name is Tennessee James.

Speaking of her kids, along with school, Deacon made an appearance alongside his father in Motorheads, which recently premiered on the 2025 TV schedule and is available to watch with an Amazon Prime subscription. So, the family seems to be keeping close both personally and professionally.

I’m glad she knows that she doesn’t have to conquer it all, and can enjoy poking fun at herself.
