When we talk about the best ‘80s movies, it’d be inconceivable for The Princess Bride not to come up. The 1987 comedy adventure is endlessly quotable, and a huge part of pop culture, even though it's been over 35 years since its release. When a movie is as successful as The Princess Bride, the Hollywood question that always comes up is whether it will get a remake, a sequel or be left alone. Robin Wright has just weighed in on that conversation.

These days, it feels like just about every classic is coming back around. But, could (or should) that happen for The Princess Bride? Here’s what Wright had to say:

When Robin Wright talked about the possibility of a sequel to AARP, she briefly commented on why she thinks a Princess Bride sequel will “never” happen. It sounds like she thinks the cast is too old at this point to embody their characters again. Wright herself is 59, Cary Elwes is 62, Mandy Patinkin is 72, Christopher Sarandon is 83 and Wallace Shawn is 81. André the Giant sadly died at the age of 46 back in 1993 due to congestive heart failure.

While Wright’s words suggest the time has long passed for another Princess Bride movie to happen, there are also a couple of points to make here. What would even be the point of bringing the whole cast back for another Princess Bride? What story needs to be told? And, considering the unique magic of the original film, it would likely seem simply impossible to recapture that magic as well.

The movie’s director Rob Reiner spoke about the topic to CBR while at San Diego Comic-Con, saying that he would never direct a sequel unless the writer William Goldman was on board, and he apparently tried to write a book called Buttercup’s Baby, and three chapters in he said it wasn’t “working” and decided he didn’t want to “go there.”

Cary Elwes shared his thoughts on more Princess Bride back in 2021, saying he felt it was “best left alone” while calling out Hollywood for making so many reboots and remakes so “they don’t have to spend as much on marketing”.

While a lot of famous movies do find a way into a reboot or remake, it definitely seems like the creatives and cast agree that The Princess Bride shouldn’t become a franchise. The movie is so iconic and fun that one time stormin’ the castle is enough.

Robert Zemeckis’ best films were box office hits that helped put the American filmmaker’s name on the map like Forrest Gump, the Back to the Future films, and Who Framed Roger Rabbit. With his top box office flick being 1994’s best picture winner Forrest Gump, it would naturally make sense for the team behind the comedy-drama to have brought in the same numbers with their new drama Here. As the Tom Hanks/Robin Wright-led film flopped at the box office, Zemeckis gets candid about his frustration with the film industry as a whole.

Forrest Gump is an example of a movie that won a ton of weekends at the box office. For five weekends, to be exact, it was actually Paramount’s highest-grossing movie with a total gross of $678.2 million until Titanic beat out that record three years later. An interesting BTS fact about Forrest Gump was that lead Tom Hanks sacrificed his salary to receive a portion of the film’s box office, leading him to reportedly take home over $60 million and reach the status of high-grossing actor.

Based on the Richard McGuire graphic novel, Here brought together the cast of Forrest Gump and its director to tell the story of generations of families in a single spot of a home in the course of a century. Unfortunately, a box office hit was not “here” for Here as the Miramax film was only able to rake up $5 million on a budget of reportedly $50 million. After Here flopped, Robert Zemeckis got candid with Deadline about his takeaway from the disappointment:

The Oscar-winning director is known for the technological innovations he’s brought to his movies. Robert Zemeckis combined live-action with animation in Who Framed Robert Rabbit, used digital effects to place Forrest Gump in historical footage, and pioneered motion-capture technology for The Polar Express. All of these movies worked very well at the box office, but you could say that it wasn’t just for the technological elements. There was a lot of heart in these stories.

Unfortunately, critics reviewing Here were all in agreement that the technological advancements of applying a fix-angled method to capture a single room across generations lost the film's story and character development. Plus, seeing a movie about middle-class problems and a dead-end marriage wouldn’t be the type of movie audiences would seek out to escape real-world problems. On Rotten Tomatoes, critics gave Here a low score of 36% and audiences 58%. It looks like seeing Forrest and Jenny actors back together in a new story wasn’t enough to win critics and audiences over as well as draw viewers in to see the graphic novel adaptation.

Another challenge that came from making Here a success was its failure to land a U.S. distributor from the start. Sources told Deadline that major studios backed out of producing the movie feeling it was too “risky.” Here was financed mainly through foreign sales. Eventually, Sony stepped in to be Here’s U.S. distributor most likely through their link with Tom Hanks’ movies like A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood and A Man Called Otto. However, marketing for the single-room film was difficult. As much as the film’s trailer screamed Forrest Gump memes, it was hard for film marketers to cut clips that would be appealing to show on talk shows.

Robert Zemeckis makes a good point that the film industry is very “stressful” right now in estimating audience expectations and the rise in distribution and marketing challenges. It appears that Forrest Gump star power wasn’t enough to bring audiences to see Here. As a standalone drama like Zemeckis’ film flopped at $5 million, it proves that big studios would rather back up blockbuster films that would guarantee appeal compared to experimental projects. If you’re still willing to give the 2024 movie release a chance, Here is playing in theaters now.

Robert Zemeckis’ legacy in the film industry is one that is accentuated by his ambition to advance the medium and attempt things that others aren’t even thinking about let alone trying. From the blend of live-action and animation in Who Framed Roger Rabbit to the split production of Cast Away to his run ensconced in the world of performance capture (The Polar Express, Beowulf, A Christmas Carol), his work traditionally doesn’t settle for simple storytelling; he has demonstrated a passion for showing audiences something on the big screen that they’ve never seen before.

That will never go underappreciated, as that kind of creativity will forever be necessary in the art form, and his latest, Here, is very much part of that tradition. It’s a non-linear narrative that takes place across eons and makes heavy use of de-aging/aging effects, but most significantly, the film unfolds from a fixed perspective, with one angle capturing events that take place in a single spot across thousands of years. Adapting the visual style of the graphic novel of the same name by writer/artist Richard McGuire, the film is undeniably a standout filmmaking effort and a work made with great skill – but the hook proves to not have the staying power necessary for a 104 minute runtime. The commitment to the aesthetic is by itself awesome, but what’s actually unfolding in front of the static camera lacks the same kind of impressiveness, and it takes a major toll on the overall experience.

Written by Robert Zemeckis and Eric Roth, who memorably last collaborated on 1994’s Forrest Gump, Here’s narrative is constantly jumping through time, with mini arcs set before the founding of America, during the Revolutionary War and both the early 20^th and 21^st centuries, but the principal focus is on the Young family, which moves into the house located on the movie’s single spot in the aftermath of World War II.

Al (Paul Bettany) and Rose Young (Kelly Reilly) raise their family in the home, including their oldest son Richard (Tom Hanks), and after a teenage Richard meets Margaret (Robin Wright), the girl who proves to be the love of his life, they inherent the property and raise a family of their own.

On a technical level, Here is an impressive achievement.

First and foremost, Here is a notable filmmaking experiment, and there is an argument to be made for its success simply it’s the movie’s coherency: in addition to it regularly flipping back and forth through time, there are also on-screen boxes that give windows into the past or future, and while less masterful hands could render this aesthetic a confusing mess, Zemeckis has earned his reputation as one of the best modern directors. You mentally adjust to what it’s doing through the early scenes, and once you understand its rhythm, you can easily understand when everything is taking place and the larger context of the period.

The age changing of the characters proves to be a mixed bag. There are some scenes when it’s wowing how Tom Hanks and Robin Wright look like their younger selves, but there are other points where it’s a distraction (not unlike Robert Zemeckis’ battle with the uncanny valley in his performance capture films). On the whole, however, it is more convincing than the aging of Al and Rose, as strong performances from Paul Bettany and Kelly Reilly can’t make up for unconvincing physicality.

Here operates as though its aesthetics make up for its generic story... but they don't.

As I’ve hopefully expressed here, it’s easy to be grateful for Zemeckis’ ambition with Here, but there proves to be a fatal flaw in the design. While it’s appreciated that the filmmaker would try something so challenging, it doesn’t compensate for a generic story about an ordinary American family. There’s conflict introduced – like Richard being forced to abandon his dreams of being an artist so that he can support his family, and Margaret’s desire for their family to move and get their own home – but there isn’t anything that is unique or particularly compelling, and their impact is undercut by the film’s breezy pacing. Beyond the fact that they are there to follow, there’s nothing about the Young family that demands true emotional investment from the audience.

The irony is that the film has much more interesting material in the subplots to which it pays less attention – as Here bounces to different time periods before returning to the Youngs. This includes Lee (David Lynn) and Stella Beekman (Ophelia Lovibond), who live in the house before Al and Rose and are a freewheeling couple with a big ambition: to sell Lee’s design for a new kind of reclining living room chair. Before them there is John (Gwilym Lee) and Pauline Marter (Michelle Dockery), who fight constantly because the latter doesn’t feel the former’s hobby flying planes is safe, and after them are the Devon (Nicholas Pinnock) and Helen Harris (Nikki Amuka-Bird) and their son Justin (Cache Vanderpuye), who live in the house during the whole mess that was 2020.

All of these stories and others are better than what the movie mostly focuses on, and that means having the weird cinematic experience of being disappointed when Tom Hanks and Robin Wright are back on screen.

Without much emotional weight to speak of beyond its very broad and generic swings, Here is a style over substance exercise for Robert Zemeckis. This isn’t to say that it doesn’t have value, as the style is impressive – but it doesn’t leave much of an impact. It’s a movie worth seeing once just to witness the way it is able to operate and respect the craft that went into it, but in the immediate aftermath of my screening, the idea of ever revisiting it feels unnecessary.

Tom Hanks and Robin Wright cemented themselves within the history of cinema when they starred in Robert Zemeckis’ acclaimed dramedy Forrest Gump, which is one of the best ‘90s movies. While many were captivated by their performances, viewers also just relished the sheer chemistry between the two actors. Now, over 30 years later, Hanks and Wright have reunited with Zemeckis for the 2025 movie release Here. Critics just screened the film and, so far, they don’t seem to be too high on it. In fact, many are making the same complaints.

Robert Zemeckis’ latest film was screened at AFI Fest this past week, after which the reviews from critics started pouring in. As teased in Here’s trailer, the filmmaker took a unique approach to the movie in that the camera remains in a single position the entire time. With this, audiences see how the space changes throughout the passage of time, from the prehistoric age to the present. It’s during that stretch that a house is built and multiple families inhabit the space, with their biggest moments being chronicled as time goes on.

Many of the reviews that have surfaced so far have criticized the Back to the Future star’s story as well as his creative decision for the film’s visual approach. Richard McGuire's 2014 graphic novel of the same name (from which the film is adapted) also limited the action to a single perspective per panel. However, THR’s David Rooney argues that this method does not work for the feature film:

Another technical aspect of the movie is that it employs de-aging technology used in The Irishman, Gemini Man and other movies. It’s most prominently used on Tom Hanks and Robin Wright, who play couple Richard and Margaret Young, respectively. Peter Debruge of Variety chided the use of the tech while also sharing less-than-positive thoughts on the strength of the film’s characters:

Based on what IGN’s Siddhant Adlakha had to say, he also believes this is far from one of Robert Zemeckis’ best movies. While discussing the movie (which also stars the likes of Paul Bettany, Kelly Reilly and Michelle Dockery), Adlakha also expressed dissatisfaction with the de-aging tech and the unconventional placement of the camera:

There are some critics who had positive thoughts to share on the drama film, though. Pete Hammond of Deadline acknowledged that the Cast Away helmer’s latest has its flaws. However, he ultimately appreciated the efforts from the Oscar-winning director and his cast and crew:

Nevertheless, it feels as though the unusual camera positioning and jarring de-aging techniques were too much for a number of pundits. Mashable’s Kristy Puchko commended Robert Zemeckis for taking some big swings but also echoed some of the sentiments of her peers in regard to the not-so-smooth technical aspects of the film:

Those who’ve been waiting to see a reunion between the lead actors and director of Forrest Gump – which is streamable with a Paramount+ subscription may be disappointed to hear the majority of these reactions. Still, you’ll ultimately want to check this flick out for yourself to form your own opinion. And, who knows, if you’re a fan of Robin Wright’s and Tom Hanks’ movies, you may get something out of the film. With that, you can see Here when it opens in theaters on November 1.

On the strength of a hit TV show (Welcome Back, Kotter), and two huge hits at the box office with Saturday Night Fever and Grease, Travolta was on top of the world. Then, almost all of a sudden, poof, he was gone. In the 16 years between Grease in 1978 and 1994, he appeared in only 11 movies, and three of those were Look Who's Talking movies and most of them bombed. Then Tarantino came along and cast him as Vincent Vega in Pulp Fiction and once again, Travolta was on top of the business and he's never looked back. 

Dallas Buyers Club - Matthew McConaughey

Matthew McConaughey exploded onto the scene in the early '90s in Dazed And Confused, where he delivered some of the most iconic quotes. In the mid-90s he started playing more dramatic roles in movies like A Time To Kill, Contact, and Amistad. By the early 2000s, he established himself as a popular lead in rom-coms. Then, after a few of his movies struggled to make an impact in the late 2000s, his star faded a little. That all changed in 2013 when he starred in, and won a Best Actor Oscar, for Dallas Buyers Club and The McConaissance was born. 

Stranger Things - Winona Ryder

With movies like Beetlejuice, Heathers,  The Age of Innocence, and Little Women, Winona Ryder was a superstar in the late '80s and early '90s. But in the early '00s, after some bad press for her shoplifting conviction, Ryder's star had fallen quite a bit and she even took a short break from acting. Though she never fell off the map completely, it wasn't until she starred in Stranger Things starting in 2016, that Ryder returned to the top. 

Judy - Renée Zellweger

Between Jerry McGuire in 1996 and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason in 2005, Renée Zellweger was one of the most popular and successful actors in Hollywood. With a slew of hits and awards,  Zellweger could do no wrong. Then, after a few less-than-successful movies, the industry showed how fickle it could be and she fell off the A-list. That all changed in 2019 with Judy, followed up with the TV series The Thing About Pam.

The Whale - Brendan Fraser

the 1990s were Brendan Fraser's decade. He had some massive hits, most notably The Mummy in 1999, but soon after, it's like everything dried up. He worked still, but barely and it left the world asking what had become of the heartthrob. He answered every one with his amazing performance in The Whale, winning the Best Actor Oscar and roaring back to the top. 

Birdman - Michael Keaton

In the 1980s, Michael Keaton delivered some of the funniest lines in some of the funniest movies. In the mid-90s and early 00s, his career slowed a bit. He was still working but wasn't the big star he'd been when he got the role in Tim Burton's Batman. That is, of course, until he starred as an actor much like himself in Birdman and brought the great actor back to the top of the A-list. 

House Of Cards - Robin Wright

When she burst onto the scene in The Princess Bride, the sky was the limit for Robin Wright. She reached new heights with her role as Jenny in Forrest Gump but found herself a tabloid regular with her marriage to Sean Penn. Ultimately, she found perhaps her greatest fame when she landed the role of Claire Underwood in Netflix's House Of Cards. 

Everything Everywhere All at Once - Ke Huy Quan

Has there ever been a feel-good story in Hollywood like Ke Huy Quan's return to fame after winning an Oscar for his role in Everything Everywhere All at Once? After decades of virtually not working in the industry, having found fame as a kid, Quan was once again the toast of the town.

She's been called the original slasher film "final girl" for her role in the original Halloween, and Jamie Lee Curtis rode that fame to the top of Hollywood. People forget just how huge Mickey Rourke was in the 80s. Men wanted to be him and women wanted to be with him, as they say. Then, he decided he'd put acting on the back burner and become a boxer. After a somewhat successful run, he returned to acting, and with Sin City and The Wrestler, Rouke was back on top in Hollywood

Scream - Drew Barrymore

Drew Barrymore became a huge star as a kid in the 1980s with movies like E.T. and Firestarter. In her teens, some personal problems derailed things a little, but when she starred in Scream, it brought her completely back and she's never looked back. 

Wild - Reese Witherspoon

When Reese Witherspoon won the Academy Award for her performance in 2005's Walk The Line, she was on top of the world. Just a few years later though, after a string of poorly performing romance movies Witherspoon dubbed her "love triangle period," her career hit a valley. Then came Wild which marked not only her resurgence as an actor but her transition to big-time producer as well. 

Iron Man - Robert Downey, Jr

There probably isn't a more famous comeback story than Robert Downey, Jr. After years of personal problems and addiction, his career looked like it was going to be completely wasted. Then Downey sobered up and landed the role of a lifetime as Tony Stark/Iron Man and the rest is history. 

Arrested Development - Jason Bateman

Jason Bateman has had quite a few ups and downs in his career. In the '80s, he was a teen star on the verge of big things, but then his career hit a serious lull. It really wasn't until the cult success of Arrested Development that Bateman once again commanded must-see TV. 

Ryan Reynolds - Deadpool

With big roles in 90s TV shows like Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Two Guys And A Girl, Ryan Reynolds was poised for huge success. At first, that's what he found, but it started to fizzle out with a string of forgettable movies in the late '00s and early teens, including the disaster that was The Green Lantern. Then came another superhero movie in 2015 called Deadpool and now he will be doing that until he's 90. 

Yellowjackets - Christina Ricci

By no fault of her own, Christina Ricci's career hit a string of bad luck with projects that she shined in, but for one reason or another didn't capture the attention of audiences. That changed, obviously, with Yellowjackets starting in 2021. 

The Godfather - Marlon Brando

People forget that when Francis Ford Coppola cast Marlon Brando as Vito Corleone, Brando was on the outs in Hollywood. It's well-known lore at this point that Coppola had to fight to get the legend in the movie, but we're all grateful he did. 

24 - Kiefer Sutherland

With roles in Stand By Me, The Lost Boys,  and the two Young Guns movies, the late '80s and early '90s were big for Kiefer Sutherland. The mid and late '90s saw a bit of a lull with some box office disappointments. In 2001, Sutherland took on the role of Jack Bauer in 24, which quickly became one of the most popular shows on TV and Sutherland rode it to a new level of fame. 

 Orange Is The New Black - Natasha Lyonne

Legal and personal problems almost completely derailed Natasha Lyonne's promising career in the '00s. Thankfully, she got the help she needed and cleaned up, she scored a role on the Netflix hit Orange Is The New Black and she's continued to crush in a number of roles since. 

This Is Us - Mandy Moore

Around the turn of the century, Mandy Moore was unstoppable, starring in hit movies and charting on the Top 40. It was in 2016, however, when she was cast as the matriarch in This Is Us that her fame shot to an entirely new level. 

The Town - Ben Affleck

After a big decade in the '90s, Ben Affleck's fame in the '00s was more about the tabloids than it was about his filmography. It took a few years, but eventually, he proved to everyone how great a filmmaker he was with The Town in 2010, and ever since, he's been crushing it.

There weren't many bigger stars in Hollywood than Jane Fonda in the '70s and '80s. Then, in 1991, she announced she was retiring from acting, coinciding with her marriage to Ted Turner. She returned, to everyone's delight, in 2005's Monster-In-Law alongside Jennifer Lopez and has scoring hits ever since. 

Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle - Neil Patrick Harris

Like his character on Doogie Howser, MD, Neil Patrick Harris was a prodigy. However after the hit show ended, he struggled to move into more adult roles. Surprisingly, it was playing a fictionalized version of himself in Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle that landed him back on audiences' radar screens, and then he landed his most famous gig on How I Met Your Mother

Bohemian Rhapsody - Mike Myers

Mike Myers was everywhere in the 1990s. From SNL to Wayne's World (one of the best movies based on an SNL character) to Shrek to Austin Powers, he was on top of the world. In 2010, after a string of box office misses, he retreated from the scene, only to emerge with a glorious role in 2018's Bohemian Rhapsody. 

John Wick - Keanu Reeves

After proving to be box office gold for a couple of decades, Keanu Reeves had a string of misses in the late '00s, but when he teamed up with director Chad Stahelski for John Wick in 2014, he helped launch a whole new franchise that continues to pump out hits. 

Unfaithful - Diane Lane

Diane Lane has always been selective about her roles, going back to her early days in Hollywood in the '80s. This has led to multiple career "revivals" but the most notable has to be her turn in the hit Unfaithful in 2002 which earned her a Best Actress nomination at the Oscars in 2003. 

Airplane! - Leslie Nielsen

For a generation of audiences, Leslie Nielson will forever be known for his roles in some of the best parody movies like Airplane! and The Naked Gun. But before Nielson was delivering hilarious lines in those movies, he was known for his dramatic acting., though his career had slowed before he reinvented himself in the first Airplane!

Burt Reynolds was one of Hollywood's biggest stars in the '70s, but a few poorly received movies in the '80s knocked him off that lofty perch. After finding success as a young star in the 1980s in movies like The Goonies, Josh Brolin hit a career drought that lasted more than a decade and left him wondering if he'd ever regain his earlier success. He did so and more after his amazing turn in No Country For Old Men in 2007 and has been one of Hollywood's best ever since.

Thirty years ago, Forrest Gump, one of the best movies of the ‘90s, was released in theaters and introduced audiences around the world to one of the most iconic characters of the decade. Over the years, the Best Picture winner has become a staple of cable TV and some of the best streaming services thanks to its endearing story, massive scope and scale, and all those unforgettable characters that make up the Forrest Gump cast.

But, what have the likes of Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, and Gary Sinise been up to since playing those iconic ‘90s movie characters? Well, let’s dive into that now and explore how the Forrest Gump cast has been spending their time as of late.

Tom Hanks (Forrest Gump)

Forrest Gump came out in the middle of Tom Hanks’ historic box office run, one that would go on to include his best ‘90s movie – Saving Private Ryan. After spending the 2000s appearing in movies like Catch Me If You Can, The Terminal, and Charlie Wilson’s War, Hanks has continued to be a driving force in Hollywood, on both sides of the camera.

In more recent years, Hanks has gone on to work with directors like Wes Anderson in Asteroid City and Baz Luhrmann in Elvis while also reprising his role as Woody in Toy Story 4. The two-time Oscar winner won’t be slowing down anytime soon, as he’s teaming up with Forrest Gump director Robert Zemeckis once again for the upcoming drama, Here, before he shows up in Toy Story 5, one of the biggest upcoming Pixar movies, in summer 2026.

Robin Wright (Jenny Curran)

Jenny Curran was Robin Wright’s most iconic ‘90s movie role, but it wasn’t her last, as the Texas-born celebrity had her fair share of big-screen appearances in the years that followed Forrest Gump. Before the decade was over, Wright starred in the likes of Moll Flanders, Loved, and Message in a Bottle, to name only a few. And she never really slowed down after that.

In more recent years, Wright has given award-winning performances on shows like House of Cards, where she played Claire Underwood throughout the duration of the series’ run, as well as movies like Blade Runner 2049, Land, and Zack Snyder’s Justice League. She’ll share the screen with Tom Hanks once again when she appears in Here in November 2024.

Gary Sinise (Lieutenant Dan Taylor)

Despite not winning an Academy Award (the Best Supporting Actor field was STACKED that year) for his portrayal of Lieutenant Dan Taylor in Forrest Gump, the performance is arguably the best of Gary Sinise’s career, which is saying something considering all of his great roles.

Over the years, Sinise has appeared in movies like Joe Bell, Open Season, and I Still Believe, but the vast majority of his time has been committed to helping wounded veterans through the Gary Sinise Foundation, a non-profit organization that goes above and beyond to make life easier for those who have served in the military. But, on top of that, and his Lt. Dan Band, Sinise has appeared on multiple shows in the CSI universe and Criminal Minds.

Sally Field (Mrs. Gump)

Sally Field was incredible in her portrayal of the deeply committed and loving Mrs. Gump in Forrest Gump, and is the emotional anchor of the first half of the film. Field, who was already a massive star by the time she joined the cast thanks to her Academy Award-winning performances in Norma Rae and Places in the Heart, has continued to be a driving force in Hollywood all these years later.

In fact, Field is on the list of actresses who have thrived after 50, landing important roles in films like Lincoln, The Amazing Spider-Man, and a slew of TV shows that includes ER, Brothers & Sisters, and Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty.

Mykelti Williamson (Benjamin Buford 'Bubba' Blue)

Though he already had some great roles to his name, Mykelti Williamson became a star thanks to his portrayal of Benjamin Buford “Bubba” Blue in Forrest Gump. Forrest’s ill-fated friend and expert on all things shrimp, Bubba added so much to the story, so it should be no surprise that Williamson went on to find great success in the years that followed.

Williamson has since appeared in movies like Con Air, Fences, Don’t Let Go, and Clean, but he’s spent much of the past decade on the small screen with shows like Chicago P.D., Designated Survivor, and Fallout. After joining the Law & Order: Organized Crime cast, he’s joined the list of actors who’ve played multiple characters in Dick Wolf’s legal franchise.

Haley Joel Osment (Forrest Gump Jr.) 

A few years before he was at the center of one of the biggest plot twists of all time, Haley Joel Osment showed up in the final act of Forrest Gump as Tom Hanks’ adorable on-screen son. Though still very young at the time, Osment was superb in his brief yet dynamic performance, and that was a sign of things to come. He would go on to find success with the aforementioned The Sixth Sense, Pay It Forward, and A.I. Artificial Intelligence in the years that followed.

A former child actor still busy today, Osment has gone on to appear in movies like Somebody I Used to Know, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, and most recently, Blink Twice. He is also set to appear in the upcoming Wednesday Season 2 on Netflix.

Michael Conner Humphreys (Young Forrest Gump)

Michael Conner Humphreys showed up in the early parts of Forrest Gump as the younger version of Hanks’ titular character. However, he didn’t pursue an acting career following the film’s success and would only appear in one more movie (Pathfinders: In the Company of Strangers in 2011).

In the years that followed, Humphreys joined the United States Army and even served a deployment in Iraq before his time with the armed services came to an end, as he told Snack Magazine in 2021. As of the time of that interview, the former child actor was teaching online English courses to Chinese students.

Hanna R. Hall (Young Jenny Curran)

Hanna R. Hall famously played a young Jenny Curran in Forrest Gump, and she has continued to act ever since. Over the years, Hall has appeared in movies like Rob Zombie’s 2007 Halloween remake, Happiness Runs, and most recently, Forgotten. She’s also appeared on shows like Masters of Sex, Criminal Minds, and The Purge.

Well, it’s certainly been fun catching up with the actors from one of the most iconic 1994 movies. If you want to see the Forrest Gump cast in action, the movie is periodically streaming for anyone with a Paramount+ subscription.

Almost 30 years ago, Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, and Robert Zemeckis made movie history with Forrest Gump; one of the best '90s movies that still holds up for its fans. So it only feels fitting that the trio reunite on the 2024 movie schedule to try and win our hearts over again with the experimental film Here. While the first trailer is as brilliantly bonkers as you’d think, I’m actually kind of ready for people to start meme-ing Gump all over again as a result.

I only say this because of the concept we have at hand here, which is based off of author Richard McGuire’s graphic novel of the same title. Thanks to the first footage released by Tri Star Pictures, we can now see Here’s bold concept at work. And even the studio knew to acknowledge the strong collaboration of its contributors, as seen in this synopsis: 

That is a quintessential Robert Zemeckis story, right down to Tom Hanks and Robin Wright playing their characters through several phases of life. And from the looks of it, the living room area is going to be the sole focus of Here’s uplifting and heartbreaking story. There's a very strong potential here that this movie could become known as one of the best Tom Hanks movies, as well as one of Robin Wright's finest films.

Which leads to why I’m ready for Forrest Gump to continue upholding its tradition as having one of the best '90s movie characters still discussed to this day, in the lead up to this picture’s release. No, I’m not talking about the fact that screenwriter Eric Roth is also reuniting with the Gump gang to tell the story of Here. Instead, I’m here to represent those who are still crushed by the bittersweet ending of Forrest and Jenny’s love story, as it was first realized 30 years ago.

Casting Tom Hanks and Robin Wright in these roles was a fantastic calculation, and not only because of their acting talents. While there’s definitely going to be sorrow and pain in Here, the movie looks to be overall uplifting. And the meme in particular I’m waiting to see is people celebrating that somehow, in a cosmically roundabout way, Forrest and Jenny got their happy ending. 

Though I will admit, it’s hard to look at Here not to feel that sort of nostalgia even without that fictional story at play. I found that to be especially true when looking at this photo of Robert Zemeckis, Tom Hanks, and Robin Wright on the movie’s set: 

If I can get geeky with you all for a moment, I’d like to close on one factor that Here seems to be underselling. You see, for as much as Robert Zemeckis has embraced motion capture and digital trickery in the later era of his career, Here looks to be going mostly practical.

Sure, as you can see in the photo above, the gigantic LED screen known as “The Volume” is being used to portray the outside world. But the living room is an actual set, and it looks as if Wright and Hanks are in actual prosthetic makeup in their aged form. I’m sure there’ll be some light CGI enhancements for the younger years, similar to how Kurt Russell’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 transformation was achieved.

But for someone who’s been picked on for falling into the trap of playing with their toys, it’s nice to see Here potentially marking a return to old school techniques for Robert Zemeckis. I mean, lest we forget how that reputation led to questions about the live-action Pinnochio leading up to its release. 

Although I will admit, no matter what tech was used on that last scene in the trailer, I think I’d still tear up just the same when hearing Tom Hanks deliver the final line of the trailer, and quite possibly the movie. We’ll have to wait and see if that’s true, as we’ve still got a bit of time before then becomes now. And if you’re as intrigued as I am, Here is where you’ll be, only in theaters, on November 15th. 

Millie Bobby Brown has had quite a bit of success on Netflix, and not just with Stranger Things. The actress charmed audiences as the titular character in two Enola Holmes mysteries, and up next she’s starring in the epic survival fantasy Damsel alongside actors like Angela Bassett, Robin Wright, and Shohreh Aghdashloo as the voice of the dragon. Critics have seen the film before it becomes available to those with a Netflix subscription, and they are not in agreement on whether we should add this one to our watch lists.

Damsel sees Elodie (Millie Bobby Brown) agree to marry a handsome prince, only to learn that his family intends to kill her in a ritual sacrifice. She doesn’t die and chooses to fight back, using her wits and survival instinct to escape the fearsome dragon and those who wish her dead. ScreenRant’s Alex Harrison says the weak script strands the actors and robs the movie of its potential. The critic rates the movie just 1.5 stars out of 5, writing: 

Nick Schager of The Daily Beast says “Skip This,” because although Millie Bobby Brown is formidable as the “scrappy” princess, the rest of the project is a paint-by-numbers, predictable fairy tale adventure. Schager continues: 

Other critics recognize the film’s faults but feel the lead actress and the message push it into passable territory. Mireia Mullor of Digital Spy rates it 3 out of 5 stars, admitting the script could have been stronger but complimenting its entertaining adventure and twist on traditional fairy tales. Damsel is a celebration of female empowerment, and even when painted with a broad brush like in this movie, that’s worth a weekend watch, Mullor says, continuing: 

Peter Debruge of Variety says the choice to eliminate “in Distress” from the film’s title is an important one, and a message that’s embodied throughout the “pleasantly disruptive” fantasy flick. Millie Bobby Brown has no trouble falling into this role, Debruge says, writing: 

Nell Minow of RogerEbert.com rates Damsel 3 out of 4 stars, saying that some sections of the movie play out like a video game, with some scary surprises and a twist at the end that makes this worthy of a movie night at home. Minnow writes: 

It sounds like some critics think the twist on the classic fairy tale and the message of the damsel not needing a prince to save her from distress make this a worthy enough endeavor. Others, however, see too many faults adding up to be able to recommend the upcoming Netflix movie.

Everything is bigger in Texas, they say, and that certainly includes the star power of its homegrown celebrities. From the biggest stars in music to the biggest on the silver screen, the biggest celebs in the squared circle, and almost everywhere else, Texas has bred them all. 

California may be home to Hollywood, but there might not be a Hollywood without its biggest legends who hail from the Lone Star State, so here is our list of some of the biggest stars from Texas

Matthew McConaughey

Matthew McConaughey was born in Uvalde, Texas, raised mostly in Longview, TX, went to college in Austin, and got his first big break in show business in Dazed & Confused, which was, of course, filmed in Texas. McConaughey still lives in Austin. It makes sense that the proud Texan wants to see more movies made in his home state. McConaughey has also sparked rumors in the past that he might be interested in running for political office in Texas, though he's usually brushed them aside. Politician or not, the man sure loves his home state. 

Renée Zellweger

She may have won accolades for playing an English woman, but Renée Zellweger is Texas through and through. The Bridget Jones' Diary star was born outside Houston in Katy, TX, and grew up there before attending the University of Texas. It was in Austin that she discovered her love for acting and she landed her first on-screen role as an extra in Dazed & Confused. 

Owen Wilson

Dallas-born Owen Wilson has played a lot of fantastic roles over the years, but none better than his many roles in the films of Wes Anderson. Wilson and fellow Texan Anderson have been friends since their college days at the University of Texas. It's also worth noting that both of Owen Wilson's brothers, Luke and Andrew, also hail from Texas, of course. 

Jim Parsons

While some people ooze "Texas," Houston native Jim Parsons doesn't, really. You might guess he'd be from New York or Chicago, but nope, he's a Texan. Born and raised in the suburbs of Houston, he also attended the University of Houston before striking out for Hollywood and making it big. 

Carol Burnett

Comedy legend Carol Burnett grew up in California, attending high school right in Hollywood, but the Annie star was born deep in the heart of Texas, in San Antonio in 1933. Though her vast career has taken her far from Texas, the state can still call her one of its own. 

Beyoncé

If the stars are brighter and everything is bigger in Texas, then it only makes sense that one of the biggest stars would come from Houston. There is no bigger star on the planet than Beyoncé, who was born and raised in Texas along with her sister Solange and her Destiny's Child bandmate, LaTavia Roberson. 

Selena Gomez

Like many other native Texas, Selena Gomez is proud of her Mexican heritage. The Only Murders In The Building star was born in Grand Prairie, Texas, near Dallas, and although her many acting roles and career took her to California early in life, her family's roots are firmly in the Lone Star State. Gomez is named for another Texas native as well, the late Tejano superstar Selena, who was murdered in Corpus Christi in 1995. 

Woody Harrelson

Woody Harrelson first got famous playing a farm boy-turned-bartender from Indiana on Cheers, and while he moved to Ohio as a teenager, Harrelson was born in Midland, Texas. He's also tight with his occasional co-star and fellow Texan, Matthew McConaughey, and, according to McConaughey, the two could even be brothers! 

Tommy Lee Jones

Sure, he was roommates at Harvard with Al Gore, but Tommy Lee Jones is all Texan. The No Country For Old Men star was born in the small town of San Saba, Texas, and raised in Midland. He's never really strayed far either, as he has resided in Terrell Hills, TX, near San Antonio, for years. He's also a member of the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame, and the Texas Film Hall of Fame. There really isn't another actor who screams "Texas" like Jones, is there?

Steve Martin

Waco-born Steve Martin is one of the funniest people in film history. While he grew up mostly in Southern California, his roots are originally in central Texas, where he was born in Waco, on August 14th, 1945, the same day that the Japanese surrendered in World War II. 

Jamie Foxx

The multi-talented Jamie Foxx started acquiring his many skills as a kid in Terrell, TX, outside Dallas, where he was born and raised. As a kid, he played piano and excelled at sports at Terrell High School. He moved to Southern California after school and in 1991, scored a role on In Living Color, and the rest is history. 

Jennifer Garner

Jennifer Garner moved to West Virginia when she was just three, so she probably doesn't remember much of anything from her early life in Texas, but the Daredevil star was born in Houston. 

Kelly Clarkson

Kelly Clarkson exploded into show business by winning the first-ever season of American Idol and she's been a star ever since. It's a journey that started when she was born in Forth Worth, TX, and raised in the suburb of Burleson, just outside the city. While her career may have taken her to LA and New York, her heart (and sports allegiance) has stayed in Texas.

Wes Anderson

People love to debate what the best Wes Anderson movie is, but if you are wondering what is his most personal, it's probably Bottle Rocket, which was filmed almost entirely in Anderson's home state of Texas. It stars a couple of fellow Texans as well, Owen and Luke Wilson. While the Wilsons are from Dallas originally, Anderson hails from Houston. 

Megan Thee Stallion

Megan Thee Stallion is a triple threat. She proved herself on the mic, and on the dance floor, first, then she started taking over TV and movies by starring in her first film in 2023. Before all that happened, though, she grew up in and around Houston. The “H-town Hottie” even got her nickname, Stallion, in the city. 

Michelle Rodriguez

Michelle Rodriguez has been in some huge film franchises, like Fast & Furious and Avatar. She kind of grew up all over, including in the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, but she was born and lived for a few years of her life in San Antonio, TX. 

Ethan Hawke

Ethan Hawke's parents were high school sweethearts who had Ethan shortly after they were married. Born in 1970 in Austin, TX, Hawke moved to the Northeast with his mother but spent his summers in Fort Worth with his dad. His grandfather even served in the Texas House of Representatives for 10 years. He has deep Texas roots that he is proud of. 

Hilary Duff

Lizzie McGuire star Hilary Duff is another Texas girl. Born in Houston, her family also spent time in San Antonio before moving to California when Duff was still young to pursue her acting career. Boy did that pay off quickly! 

Jennifer Love Hewitt

From a young age, Jennifer Love Hewitt was showing off her talents, singing and dancing across Texas, where she was born in 1979. Eventually, even the Lone Star State could not contain her and she moved to LA with her family, where she soon landed her first starring role on the legendary Party Of Five, after having roles on the Disney Channel and elsewhere as a kid. 

Eva Longoria

Born in Corpus Christi, TX in 1975, Eva Longoria has always been proud of her Tejano roots. In fact, her ancestry and culture are so important to her that she returned to college to earn a Master's degree in Chicano studies from Cal State-Northridge.

Forest Whitaker

Though he went to high school in Los Angeles, Forest Whitaker's life began in Longview, Texas. Every summer of his youth, he spent time with his grandparents in Longview and still has family all over Texas. 

Taylor Sheridan

It's no surprise that Taylor Sheridan is from Texas. While he was actually born in North Carolina, the Yellowstone creator is the definition of a true Texan. Not only did he grow up in Fort Worth, but he owns a working ranch in the Lone Star state called 6666 Ranch. He and his family live in Weatherford, Texas.

Farrah Fawcett

She might have had the reputation of being the all-American blonde from California, but Farrah Fawcett was born and raised in Texas. After high school in Corpus Christi, she attended the University of Texas before heading to Hollywood where she immediately started landing acting and modeling jobs. Once she scored her role on Charlie's Angels, the rest is history. 

Isaiah Washington

Controversial actor Isaiah Washington's most prominent role was in the first three seasons of Grey's Anatomy. Since then, he's worked on numerous films and TV shows, before announcing his retirement in 2023. He was born and raised in Houston. 

William Jackson Harper

Star of The Good Place William Jackson Harper is a native Texan, born in Dallas and raised in Garland, TX, where he first started acting in high school. His Texas-sized determination kept him going when he struggled early in his career, before finding a starring role on the Kristen Bell-led sitcom. 

Dakota Johnson

It might be surprising to learn that despite being the daughter of Hollywood royalty, Dakota Johnson was born in Texas. She was born to Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson in Austin while her father shot a movie in the Lone Star State. The star was then raised in Los Angeles, of course, but Austin will always be where she came into this world. Since then, she's built a great career. 

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin

Steven James Anderson loves his home state so much, that he took a name based on its capital, Austin. Better known as "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, the WWE superstar was, in fact, born in Austin, though he was raised mostly in Edna, TX. The wrestler still owns property in the state, Broken Skull Ranch, near Tilden, TX. It's not like he hides his love for the state either, as one of his many nicknames is "The Texas Rattlesnake."

Gary Busey

People sometimes forget that Gary Busey was once nominated for an Oscar for playing Texan Buddy Holly in The Buddy Holly Story, and the actor also hails from Holly's home state. Busey was born in the Houston area; Baytown, Texas, to be exact. He moved to Oklahoma in elementary school and it was in Tulsa that the enigmatic actor began his show biz career. One of his first big breaks in Hollywood was a TV show that was set in Texas called, appropriately, The Texas Wheelers.

Gina Carano

Gina Carano was controversially dismissed from The Mandalorian and whether you agree with the decision or not, it's hard to argue that the MMA star brought a little bit of that strong individualism Texas is known for to the role and her career. Something that might be inherent in her, as she was born in Dallas County Texas.

Shaquille O'Neal

Texas is a huge state, with a lot of personality, so it only makes sense that a celebrity who's physically large and has a personality to match would hail from the state. Shaquille O’Neal is an Army brat, so he moved around a lot as a kid, including being born in New Jersey. It's in Texas, however, where the world started to pay attention to O'Neal as he became a standout basketball star, eventually becoming a top college recruit and going to LSU for school. He was drafted into the NBA as the #1 overall pick in 1992, and the rest is history.  

Robin Wright

Robin Wright might be best known for playing a Washington insider on House Of Cards and a Buttercup in The Princess Bride, but before all that, she was born in Dallas in 1966. Her parents divorced when she was young and her family moved to Southern California, but for those two years, she was a Texan. 

Michael Strahan

He first made a name for himself playing football in New York, and now he's known for hosting Good Morning America in New York, but Michael Strahan is a born and bred Texan. He was born in Houston, and went to high school there, though for a little while he lived with his family in Germany where his father was stationed in the Army. 

There you have it, a list that proves everything is, indeed, bigger in Texas. The toast, the steer, the plains, and the stars. Not just the stars in the sky, but the stars in Hollywood and beyond. Few states can compete with the Lone Star state when it comes to star power. 

Soap Operas are not usually the first thing we think of when we think of “Prestige Television” but they have been popular since the dawn of TV and without them, some of our favorite stars might not have ever gotten their big break. In honor of that, we’ve compiled quite a list of famous actors who started out in soap operas. 

Brad Pitt (Another World)

There aren’t many bigger stars in the world than Brad Pitt. While he famously made his first mark in pop culture in Thelma & Louise, his first professional, credited acting role came on the soap Another World. The Ocean’s Eleven star played a character named Chris on two episodes in 1987. Little did anyone know just how famous he would soon be. 

Leonardo DiCaprio (Santa Barbara)

Pitt’s co-star in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Leonardo DiCaprio, is also one of the biggest stars in the world. Like Pitt, DiCaprio also can point to a turn on a soap opera early in his career as a launching pad. DiCaprio had a smattering of bit parts before starring in Santa Barbara, but it was five episodes on the soap that really got his career moving. 

Demi Moore (General Hospital)

In the ‘80s and ‘90s, Demi Moore was box office gold with films like St. Elmo’s Fire, A Few Good Men, and Ghost. Moore earned a then-unprecedented $12.5 million with her role in Striptease, but she got her start much more modestly as reporter Jackie Templeton in 85 episodes of General Hospital from 1982 until 1984. 

Marisa Tomei (As The World Turns)

Marisa Tomei’s career went into the stratosphere with her Academy Award-winning turn in My Cousin Vinny in 1992. She’s since been nominated for two more Oscars in her lauded career that all started with the role of Marcy Thompson, as a series regular on As The World Turns for three seasons. 

Alec Baldwin (The Doctors)

The Doctors debuted on NBC in April of 1963, on the very same day as General Hospital premiered on ABC. Unlike GH, which is still on the air, The Doctors lasted only a mere 20 years, but like GH, it helped launch a lot of careers. Alec Baldwin was one of those actors who appeared on the soap, as the character Billy Aldrich for a few years in the early 1980s, years before his big breaks would come in Beetlejuice and The Hunt For Red October. 

Kathy Bates (The Doctors)

Another actor who got her start on the oft-forgotten The Doctors is the great Kathy Bates. Bates worked hard while scratching out a living as an actor in New York City. After scoring just one bit part in the movie Taking Off in 1971, it was another 6 years before she would land a big role, this time on The Doctors.

Laurence Fishburne (One Life To Live)

Laurence Fishburne famously made waves as a teenager starring (as Larry Fishburne) in Francis Ford Coppola’s masterpiece Apocalypse Now. While the role made him famous, his career started years earlier as Josh Hall in One Life To Live. Fishburne was only 11 years old when he debuted on the show.

Jordana Brewster (As The World Turns)

Jordana Brewster is a star in one of the biggest film franchises in history as Mia Toretto in the Fast & Furious movies. She got her start in one of the biggest soap operas in history as well. After a quick one-off on All My Children in 1995, Brewster landed a regular role on As The World Turns later that same year. She remained on the show for 118 episodes over the next six years. 

Shemar Moore (The Young and the Restless)

For over a decade, Shemar Moore starred as Derek Morgan on the beloved Criminal Minds and then on S.W.A.T for six years. Neither was his first long-time role on television, however, as Moore got his start on eight seasons of The Young and the Restless as Malcolm Winters, a role he’s returned to a number of times, most recently in 2023. 

Tom Selleck (The Young And The Restless)

Another actor who got his start on The Young and the Restless is the legendary TV star Tom Selleck. After bouncing around in bit parts for most of the ‘70s. The Blue Bloods star found a semi-regular role on the soap in 1974. He would later own TV in the ‘80s as Thomas Magnum on one of the greatest TV shows of all time, Magnum PI.

Meg Ryan (As The World Turns)

Meg Ryan was America’s sweetheart in the 1980s and '90s. Before she starred in numerous rom-coms, from When Harry Met Sally To You’ve Got Mail, she was Steve Andropoulos’ sweetheart Betsy on As The World Turns. She would play the role for three years, before snagging a role in a little movie called Top Gun, and off she went to stardom. 

Lauryn Hill (As The World Turns)

It’s not just actors who got their start on soap operas. Singer and rapper Ms. Lauryn Hill is famous for her amazing neo-soul album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill in 1998, but seven years before that, and before The Fugees, she starred as Kira Johnson on As The World Turns.

Taye Diggs (Guiding Light)

This one is a bit of a stretch because Taye Diggs had already put together a great career on Broadway, starring in the original cast of Rent and other shows. He did, however, get his regular screen time on Guiding Light in 1997, after a couple of smaller parts on TV. 

Julianne Moore (As The World Turns)

Julianne Moore has won a slew of awards in her career. The Boogie Nights star can boast five Oscar nominations and one win, she has an Emmy, multiple Golden Globe and SAG awards, and even one Daytime Emmy, which she won for Best Actress on the soap As The World Turns in 1988.

David Hasselhoff (The Young And The Restless)

Baywatch might have been a soap opera on the beach, but it wasn’t the first time David Hasselhoff starred in one. The Hoff played Snapper Foster (yes, that’s the name of the character) for seven years in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s on The Young and the Restless, before scoring his gig on Knight Rider. While starring on Knight Rider, The Hoff also appeared on one episode of Santa Barbara.

Mark Hamill (General Hospital)

Stars Wars has often been described as a “space opera” so it only makes sense that Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, got his start on a soap opera. The future superstar started smaller, with a role as Kent Murray on General Hospital for a couple of years right before Star Wars became the biggest thing, well, ever. 

Josh Duhamel (All My Children)

Transformers star Josh Duhamel has starred in 39 movies and had roles on 18 TV shows, including Las Vegas and Jupiter Rising, and it all started with a breakout role on ABC’s All My Children in 1999. He starred on the soap opera for a few years, before moving on, but did return briefly in 2011 to reprise his role as Leo du Pres. He even won a Daytime Emmy in 2002 for his performance. 

Kelly Ripa (All My Children)

Kelly Ripa has been everyone’s favorite morning talk show host for years now and over 30 years ago, she was a dancer on Dance Party USA. Her first serious acting gig came in 1990 as Hayley Vaughan on All My Children, a role she would play for more than a decade. Not only did it jumpstart her career, but the soap played an even more important role in her life, as that’s how she met her husband, Mark Consuelos.

Mark Consuelos (All My Children)

That’s right, Mark Consuelos also began his career on All My Children, playing Mateo Santos on the show for six years. The Riverdale star was a huge hit on the show, and like Ripa, returned in 2010 to help celebrate the show’s 40th anniversary. Consuelos and Ripa married in 1996 while starring on the show together and now almost 30 years later are still working together as co-hosts on Live.

Ryan Phillippe (One Life To Live)

From I Know What You Last Summer to Cruel Intentions, Ryan Phillippe played some iconic parts in the 1990s. It was One Life To Live where he landed his first one, though, in 1992. In the ‘00s, he got more serious, with major roles in Gosford Park and Crash, but none of it might have happened with the soap opera casting him as a teenager. 

Amber Tamblyn (General Hospital)

Amber Tamblyn wasn’t even a teen when she landed her first on-screen role on General Hospital in 1995. The 127 Hours star played Emily Quatermaine for six seasons on the soap.

John Stamos (General Hospital)

Before playing Uncle Jesse on Full House, and before playing bongos for The Beach Boys, John Stamos was breaking hearts as Blackie Parrish on General Hospital for three seasons in the early ‘80s. Stamos even earned a nomination for a Daytime Emmy for the role in 1983.

Mario Van Peebles (One Life To Live)

Mario Van Peebles made his permanent mark on film with his direction of the 1991 classic New Jack City. The cult classic was huge at the time, and Van Peebles has been acting and directing in TV and film ever since, but his career really got going a decade prior to New Jack City when he appeared as Doc Gilmore in One Life To Live in 1982 and 1983. 

Hayden Panettiere (One Life To Live)

“Save the cheerleader, save the world” is a now-legendary catchphrase from the TV series Heroes and the cheerleader was, of course, the great Hayden Panettiere. Panettiere had already scored numerous credits before Heroes, including her first role as a five-year-old One Life To Live for 26 episodes in the mid-'90s. She followed that up as Lizzie Spaulding on Guiding Light for four seasons.

Justin Hartley (Passions)

Justin Harley was part of the cast that made more TV viewers cry than any other as a part of the brilliant ensemble on This Is Us. Hartley got his start probably making daytime TV fans emotional on the short-lived (by soap opera standards) Passions. After becoming a series regular on Smallville, he returned to daytime TV on The Young and the Restless before landing his award-winning gig on This Is Us. 

Robin Wright (Santa Barbara)

In 1987 Robin Wright became part of cinema history with her role as Buttercup in the much-beloved The Princess Bride. It took a few years of starring on the soap Santa Barbara before she would get that breakout role, but she’s been on top ever since, with iconic roles on the Netflix series House of Cards and in movies like Wonder Woman 1984, which is pretty fitting, as that was the year she started on Santa Barbara.

Lindsay Lohan (Guiding Light and Another World)

Lindsay Lohan’s first movie role was actually two roles in 1998’s The Parent Trap. She immediately endeared herself to audiences, and that love only grew with Freaky Friday and Mean Girls. She’s had an up-and-down career since, but like so many others, that career started as a kid on a soap. Two soaps, actually. First, a brief one-off on Guiding Light, with a reoccurring role on Another World for two seasons. 

Kevin Kline (Search For Tomorrow)

Search for Tomorrow is one of those soaps that despite running for more than 35 years, it’s completely forgotten about today. It was canceled in 1986, but it was around long enough for Kevin Kline to make his first on-screen appearance. The classically trained Kline returned to the stage after leaving the show, but in 1982 he found himself in a role in Sophie’s Choice alongside Meryl Streep, and he’s never looked back. 

Tommy Lee Jones (One Life To Live)

Harvard grad Tommy Lee Jones actually got his first role in the classic Love Story but it was a minor “blink and you’ll miss it” type of role. It was probably his 21 episodes on One Life To Live in the early 1970s that really jumpstarted his now-legendary career. 

Tom Berenger (One Life To Live)

Speaking of One Life to Live in the ‘70s, Platoon star Tom Berenger overlapped with Jones for one season on the long-running soap. Berenger played Tim Siegel for 66 episodes from 1975 until his character’s death just after getting married in the 1976 season. Classic soap opera plot!  

While budgets of soap operas might not be that of prime-time TV, there is undoubtedly plenty of talent on these shows, and has been for many years, as this amazing of list famous actors who started out in soap operas proves. 

The “nepo baby” discussion has been raging in Hollywood for a few months now. Celebrities and entertainment buffs alike have been debating how some have been positively impacted due to their relationships with established stars. Celebrity kids have been at the forefront of the discussion, and a number of them have weighed in with thoughts. One of the latest to do so is Hopper Penn, the son of actors Sean Penn and Robin Wright. When asked to weigh in on the argument, the up-and-coming star shared a blunt comment. 

Hopper Penn has been steadily building up acting credits over the past several years via television shows and short films. His latest project is the drama film Devil’s Peak, in which he stars alongside his famous mother. The two recently participated in a joint interview, during which Penn was asked for his thoughts on the concept of a nepo baby. The 29-year-old actor didn’t hold back when sharing his thoughts, declaring that he doesn’t “give a shit” if people see him as one. That’s because in his estimation, he doesn’t fit the bill. He also recalled the first time that he became aware of the highly discussed topic:

Tell us how you really feel about it. The comments that the Signs of Love alum share with Yahoo! Entertainment indicate that he’s over the conversation. Also, he seems to be even less fazed due to the fact that his detractors are people that he doesn’t know and likely won’t ever meet. His logic here is sure to be divisive amongst the public as has been the case with other celebrities who’ve weighed in thus far.

Last year, Johnny Depp’s daughter, Lily-Rose Depp claimed that she isn’t a nepo baby and, as a result, she got slammed by Italian model Diet Prada. Lily Collins defended her success as well, as she recalled the failed castings and other challenges that she’s come up against over the years. Meanwhile “OG nepo baby” Jamie Lee Curtis called the discourse hurtful while addressing her privilege and stating that she’s worked hard for what she has. Tom Hanks, who recently cast his son in A Man Called Otto, further argued that the entertainment industry is a “family business.”

Meanwhile, M3GAN’s Allison Williams straight-up admitted to being a nepo baby, fully acknowledging that she has advantages that many others in the industry don’t. Kaia Gerber, Cindy Crawford’s daughter, also had an honest take, as she didn’t deny her privilege and spoke about being grateful for the resources she’s had access to. Actress and producer Michaela Coel also called out nepo babies who don’t take their positions into consideration, though she admitted that her thoughts could change if she has kids and they choose to enter the business at some point.

This is a nuanced conversation, to say the least, and more stars are sure to chime in as time goes on. I wouldn’t expect to hear much more from Hopper Penn on the matter, though, considering his blunt thoughts. Then again, there’s always a chance that he’ll re-evaluate the discussion and provided further comment at a later time.

While the future of the DC Universe on the big and small screen is a bit clearer now that the first couple of years of DC projects have been revealed by James Gunn, there are still a lot of questions about how it all connects, if at all, to the films that came before. The future of one of DC’s biggest characters, Wonder Woman, is still something of a question. A planned Wonder Woman 3 has been shelved, which means we likely won’t be seeing the actors from the previous films. Co-star Robin Wright already thought she was done with the franchise, but only because she didn’t realize Wonder Woman 3 was a possibility.

In the weeks after James Gunn and Peter Safran took the reins at DC Studios, a lot of changes were made. Henry Cavill, who had only just made his return as Superman, was gone once again, and Patty Jenkins's treatment for a planned Wonder Woman 3 was apparently killed. Robin Wright, who played Antiopie in the first two films tells Yahoo she wasn’t even aware there was work being done on a third entry, so she thought her time as an Amazon was done, though she didn’t want it to be. Wright said…

The interest from Robin Wright in a movie focused not on Wonder Woman but on the Amazons is interesting, because that’s almost exactly what we’ll be getting. Paradise Lost will be a new DC series that will act as a prequel to the Wonder Woman story, showing us her home of Paradise Island in a period before Wonder Woman was born. 

And for the record, Robin Wright says she’d be interested in reprising her role as Antiopie in the Paradise Lost series, though she says she “hasn’t received that call yet.” At this point, it seems unlikely that the call will come. Unless a total change of direction is made regarding Wonder Woman, it seems likely that when we see that character debut in the DCU it will be played by somebody other than Gal Gadot. And while that doesn’t preclude other stars from the previous films from reprising their roles, it does make that seem more unlikely.

As much as we now know about the future plans at DC Studios, there are still a lot of missing details. Considering how popular and successful Wonder Woman was the first time around, and how important the character is to DC, it's all but certain we will see her eventually. And who knows? If cast members from the previous films do get a call for the new series, it could indicate that this franchise isn't quite done yet.

It is inconceivable to think that The Princess Bride has been around for over three decades. It was 35 years ago when director Rob Reiner and Academy Award-winning screenwriter William Goldman released this hilarious, thrilling, and romantic fairy tale adventure adapted from a book that Goldman, himself, also penned.

The real key to the enduring success of the 1987 film - which was cleverly parodied in  a PG-13 cut of Deadpool 2 - would have to be the remarkably talented members of the Princess Bride cast - including Cary Elwes as Westley and Robin Wright as Buttercup. When it comes to the '90s, there are so many iconic movies that I’m sure every single one of you has seen reading this article. But with these iconic movies comes iconic film roles, and these actresses were some of the best in the business. Here are several actresses with some truly iconic film roles in '90s movies. 

Kate Winslet (Titanic)

Considering Titanic was once the biggest film in the world, it’s not surprising the first pick here is Kate Winslet, who played Rose DeWitt Bukater. It’s certainly one of Winslet’s best films so far, and put her on the fast track to become the famous actor she is today.  

Gwyneth Paltrow (Se7en)

While Gwyneth Paltrow known amazingly well now from her variety of film performances, her role of Tracy Mills in Se7en is certainly an iconic one, with her character playing an essential role throughout the story. It wasn’t that long after she would star in Shakespeare in Love and win an Academy Award for her acting. 

Sharon Stone (Basic Instinct)

Yes, this is Sharon Stone from that controversial scene in Basic Instinct. But no one can deny that her performance in this film was great, and she acted her butt off in this erotic thriller. Every single scene she was in, she stole the show.

Jodie Foster (The Silence Of The Lambs)

The '90s were filled to the brim with iconic horror films like The Silence of the Lambs, and was only the third film in history to win the Big Five at the Academy Awards - Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actress and Best Actor. Best Actress went to Jodie Foster for her amazing portrayal of Clarice Starling. 

Sandra Bullock (Speed)

While Sandra Bullock is currently busy in 2022 with her film, The Lost City, one of her first big roles ever was starring alongside Keanu Reeves in the action film, Speed, portraying Annie Porter, the main love interest of the film and a total badass. 

Winona Ryder (Edward Scissorhands)

This is definitely one of Winona Ryder’s best movies. Playing Kim Boggs in Edward Scissorhands, Ryder perfectly captured what true kindness is meant to look like, and her love story with Edward is one for the history books that anyone would adore to witness.  

Rachel Leigh Cook (She’s All That)

While the reboot, He’s All That, made plenty of references to the original film, She’s All That just can’t be beaten, and that includes Rachel Leigh Cook’s iconic performance as Laney Boggs. I mean, who could forget that memorable “Kiss Me” scene? It’s the epitome of teen movie makeovers. You have to love it. 

Meryl Streep (The Bridges Of Madison County)

Meryl Streep has been around for many years in the movie industry and has some amazing films under her belt. And while she did plenty of movies in the '90s, my personal favorite performance of hers was in The Bridges of Madison County, where she played Francesca Johnson, a married mother who has a steamy four-day love affair with a photojournalist. Her chemistry with Clint Eastwood is second to none. 

Meg Ryan (Sleepless In Seattle, You’ve Got Mail)

A legendary queen of romantic comedies, you could not stop Meg Ryan in the '90s. Not only was she in two iconic roles in romantic comedies, Sleepless in Seattle and You’ve Got Mail, both of those films were alongside Tom Hanks and showed just how amazing their chemistry is. 

Demi Moore (Ghost)

That damn pottery scene has been recreated by so many people - I mean, even Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart recreated it! - but no one can quite beat Demi Moore's performance. She shined in her leading role of Molly Jensen alongside Patrick Swayze. I think all of us have wished at least once we were in her shoes. 

Sarah Michelle Gellar (I Know What You Did Last Summer)

While plenty of folks know Sarah Michelle Gellar for her portrayal of Buffy in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Gellar starred in another horror hit that same year portraying Helen Shivers in I Know What You Did Last Summer, giving a masterclass in chase scenes in horror movies. 

Whoopi Goldberg (Sister Act, Ghost)

Whoopi Goldberg is certainly an iconic name that I am sure you’ve heard of plenty of times before, and she had not one but two iconic roles in the '90s. To me, my favorite is her lead role in Sister Act, starring as Deloris Van Cartier and bringing some soul into religion, but I can’t not mention her Academy Award-nominated performance as Oda Mae Brown in Ghost. 

Julia Roberts (Pretty Woman)

It’s one of Julia Roberts' best movies. Pretty Woman has some pretty iconic scenes, but none of them could have been accomplished if not for the charming performance that Roberts delivered as Vivian. I’m pretty sure every time I’ve watched that movie, all I want is to be in that bathtub. That looks so damn nice.

Drew Barrymore (Scream) 

Drew Barrymore was only in the first twelve minutes of the first Scream movie, and yet her scene has become iconic in every sense of the word. You go up to a horror movie fan and ask “do you like scary movies?” and they’ll know exactly what film its from as well as what scene - and Drew Barrymore is the star of it. 

Neve Campbell (Scream)

Even if Drew Barrymore was the star of the first twelve minutes, it was Neve Campbell that became the star of the Scream franchise, reprising her role in every single new film since, showing just how badass she is as the ultimate final girl. 

Reese Witherspoon (Cruel Intentions)

Witherspoon has been in many movies and some great TV shows, but back in the '90s, she was still just starting out, and Cruel Intentions was a breakthrough role for her. She played Annette Hargrove, a young woman who was the target of the two main characters of the film. In this '90s movie, she showed just how talented she is at acting. 

Alicia Silverstone (Clueless)

Ugh, as if! Alicia Silverstone truly stole the screen when she played Cher in Clueless, a story about a teenage girl who ends up befriending a new student and decides to give her a makeover. I mean, those outfits alone are definitely iconic enough for her to be on this list.  

Laura Dern (Jurassic Park)

Raise your hand if you’re excited to see Laura Dern back in Jurassic World: Dominion. *Raises hand* Regardless, Laura Dern in the original Jurassic Park was freaking amazing, and Dr. Ellie Sattler was a badass that I looked up to, and I can’t wait to see what she’s been up to after all these years. 

Julia Stiles (10 Things I Hate About You)

Ugh, 10 Things I Hate About You is one of my favorites, and it’s legit because of the chemistry that Julia Stiles and Heath Ledger have in this film. They are my all-time favorite romantic couple and Julia Stiles rocks it as Kat. 

Halle Berry (Jungle Fever)

While Halle Berry has been in plenty of badass roles over the last two decades, there was a time where she was just getting started in Hollywood. One of the first films that she had a supporting role in was Spike Lee’s Jungle Fever, where she played Vivian. While she's gone on to play more prominent roles since then, it was one of the movies that broke her out onto the scene and paved the way for bigger things down the line, like X-Men and Monster’s Ball. 

Natalie Portman (Star Wars: The Phantom Menace)

Padme Amidala, known as the Queen/Senator of Naboo and Anakin Skywalker's lover (later wife) was a Star Wars character that made her debut in 1999, and was a badass in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. Natalie Portman portrayed the legendary Star Wars character for the prequel trilogy, and inspired young girls everywhere - but we don’t need to talk about how her character ends in Revenge of the Sith. 

Uma Thurman (Pulp Fiction)

While my personal all-time favorite Uma Thurman performance is her role in Kill Bill, one of her biggest roles prior to this was portraying Mia Wallace in Pulp Fiction, earning her a nomination at the Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor. I mean, she was the literal character featured on the poster for this film, and honestly, I can see why. She has such star appeal. She has plenty of great performances but this is one of her best. 

Mena Suvari (American Beauty)

This 1999 film, American Beauty, told a captivating story about a man having a midlife crisis, but the main star to me of this was Mena Suvari as Angela Hayes, the object of affection for the main character, Lester Burnham. Even if the film didn’t age too well, I think we call agree Suvari was phenomenal in it. 

Robin Wright (Forrest Gump)

If you’re not saying “Jenny” by the end of Forrest Gump in a Southern drawl, I don’t think we were watching the same film. This Academy Award-winning film starring Tom Hanks told the story of Forrest Gump and his legendary life, often times where he would think of his young love, Jenny, played by Robin Wright. Their love story is a tumultuous one, but a memorable one as well. 

Kirsten Dunst (Interview With The Vampire)

Kirsten Dunst in Interview with the Vampire is iconic for many reasons, showing how amazingly talented she was as an actress at the tender age of eleven. She later went on to star in films like Bring it On and Spider-Man, but no one can quite forget her character, Claudia.

Salma Hayek (Desperado)

Salma Hayek has been in many different kinds of films, such as being a part of the Grown Ups cast or starring in The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, but Desperado was one of the early films that made her the star she is today. Starring alongside Antonio Banderas as Carolina, Hayek was badass and her character was just as amazing. It’s definitely one of her best movies, and I would watch another film with both her and Banderas.  

Angela Bassett (What’s Love Got To Do With It, Waiting To Exhale) 

Angela Bassett is a master-class actress, and has shown just how amazingly talented she is in any role. I mean, there are so many movie parts that she should have been nominated for an Oscar, However, one of her most iconic roles from the '90s did indeed earn her nominations - her portrayal of Tina Turner in What’s Love Got to Do with It. And another great role for Bassett in the '90s was Bernadine Harris in Waiting to Exhale. Both of these movies were great showcases of her acting prowess. 

Whitney Houston (The Bodyguard)

“And I will always love you.” 

You know the song, I know you do. It’s one of the most iconic songs of all time and has been performed by so many people. Even though it was originally written by Dolly Parton, Whitney Houston sang this iconic song for the soundtrack for The Bodyguard, where she played Rachel Marron, a famous singer who falls for the bodyguard tasked with protecting her. 

Michelle Yeoh (Tomorrow Never Dies)

Last but not least, we have Michelle Yeoh in Tomorrow Never Dies. While she’s been in plenty of amazing movies such as Crazy Rich Asians and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, one of my personal favorites of hers is her role as Wai Lin, a Chinese spy and an ally to James Bond. 

Yeoh is a bloody badass. This James Bond alum truly defined the term “kick ass and take names” because she was one of the best Bond girls ever, in my opinion. I would gladly see her return to the franchise alongside Pierce Brosnan, but I don’t think that’ll happen anytime soon, so I’ll just re-watch this movie over and over. 

There are truly so many other iconic roles, but these are some of the best that you should check out again next time you want to watch a great movie. Now, if you don’t mind me, I’m going to re-watch Jurassic Park again before the latest sequel.  

Saturday Night Live returned for its 47th season this past weekend, with Owen Wilson on hosting duty and musical guest Kacey Musgraves dropping jaws with a history-making performance that gave a nod to a classic scene from Forrest Gump. The country singer took the stage for a stripped-down version of her song “Justified.” It wasn’t the song that was stripped down, but Musgraves herself, as she sat cross-legged on a stool wearing nothing but her cowboy boots, an acoustic guitar covering most of her body from view. 

The mood lighting and mostly close camera work didn’t make it blatantly obvious that she was on stage in her birthday suit — at least until a soft spotlight shone on her at the end of the performance — and fans were left wondering if they could believe their eyes. Kacey Musgraves’ publicist confirmed to Variety that the nude performance was legit, and, according to the official, it was a historic event for the longtime sketch show:

Many fans quickly picked up on the iconic imagery, as the cross-legged performer paid homage to a similar-looking scene in Forrest Gump, in which Jenny (played by Robin Wright) shows her folk-singing skills on stage in nothing but a pair of heels. Thank goodness the SNL live audience was more well-behaved than Jenny’s rowdy bar patrons. For her second song of the night, Kacey Musgraves performed another single from her album, Star-Crossed. “Camera Roll,” like “Justified,” takes a nostalgic look back at a failed relationship but, while the subject matter had the same vulnerable feel as her first song, Musgraves did not repeat her nude performance. In its Season 47 premiere, Saturday Night Live featured a tribute to Norm Macdonald, the beloved comedian and master of the show's Weekend Update segment, who passed away from cancer in September. Pete Davidson returned for the new season, even after seemingly saying goodbye in the Season 46 finale. Kate McKinnon, whose fate was also unknown at the end of last season, was absent for the premiere, as she was reportedly away filming the upcoming Peacock series Joe Exotic.

Kim Kardashian will take up the SNL hosting duties next week, drawing the ire of some. Halsey will be the musical guest for the October 9 episode. Rami Malek with Young Thug will follow on October 16, and Jason Sudeikis and Brandi Carlile are scheduled for the show on October 23. Saturday Night Live airs on NBC at 11:30 p.m. ET on Saturdays. In September, we'll hit the ten-year anniversary of Moneyball, Bennett Miller's superb baseball drama starring and produced by Brad Pitt. The type of star-driven character drama that's rarely funded by studios nowadays, this sharp, well-helmed adaptation of Michael Lewis' 2003 book of the same name was in development hell prior to this movie's underdog success, but everything worked out in the end. Moneyball was met with both acclaim and box office success, later receiving six Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Adapted Screenplay.

It's hard to believe that it's been nearly a decade since Moneyball debuted in theaters, but it's a credit to its timeless quality that it holds up — quite well, in fact! But, what is the cast doing now, including Jonah Hill, Robin Wright, and Chris Pratt? A hell of a lot has changed since this Oscar-nominated sports movie hit theaters. Let's take a look!

Brad Pitt (Billy Beane)

As Billy Beane, the general manager of the Oakland Athletics who adopts an unlikely strategy to form a competitive team, Brad Pitt plays our lead character in Moneyball. And, he received two Oscar nominations, for Best Picture and Best Actor. Previously, Pitt was nominated for his supporting role in 12 Monkeys and his titular turn in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Additionally, as a producer, he was nominated for The Big Short and 12 Years a Slave, the latter for which he won. Last year, Pitt won another Oscar for his supporting turn in Once Upon a Time ... In Hollywood. He also starred in Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Inglorious Basterds, Fight Club, Se7en, and the Ocean's movies.

Most recently, Brad Pitt starred in and produced Ad Astra. Next, the Oscar-winning actor will be seen in Bullet Train and Babylon. Additionally, through his Plan B production company, Pitt is producing The Underground Railroad, Blonde, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, Black Hole, Wrong Answer, Americanah, and a Chris Cornell documentary.

Jonah Hill (Peter Brand)

In the role of Peter Brand, the young assistant general manager with radical ideas for how to measure each player's value, Jonah Hill gave an Oscar-nominated performance in Moneyball. A few years later, the actor would be nominated again for his supporting turn in Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street. His other notable film credits include Superbad, Knocked Up, 21 Jump Street, War Dogs, This is the End, 22 Jump Street, Hail Caesar!, Cyrus, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and The Beach Bum. Away from this acclaimed movie, Blanchard is a two-time Tony-nominated actress for her Broadway performances in 2003's Gypsy and 2011's How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. She also received Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for her portrayal of a teenage Judy Garland in Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows. We should also note that, while Phillip Seymour Hoffman played a major role in this acclaimed drama, the Oscar-winning actor passed away in 2014 at 46. Following Moneyball's release, Hoffman was seen in The Master, A Most Wanted Man, and The Hunger Games sequels. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 became his final film.

Robin Wright has made a career out of playing diverse roles, although whether it’s in House of Cards or Land, she has remained very selective about which characters she decides to play. One of her more memorable performances in recent years was playing Antiope in 2017’s Wonder Woman, but it took some convincing to take the role. Given Robin Wright’s track record before Wonder Woman, she was an excellent choice to play Antiope, and she seemed to channel previous roles into her character. Even though she was on-screen for an abbreviated period, she stood out in every scene she was in. I especially enjoyed the training scenes between Wright and Gal Gadot in the DCEU film. Alas, given Antiope's fate in Wonder Woman, Wright only momentarily reprised the role in Wonder Woman 1984 through a flashback.

Robin Wright’s Antiope was a true badass in both Wonder Woman films. The actress took a beloved side character in the Wonder Woman mythos and made her a standout. Hopefully Patty Jenkins’ Themyscira-set Amazons film will happen so audiences get to learn more about Antiope.

Robin Wright’s Hollywood career is, in a word, impressive. She’s taken on so many iconic roles over the years at this point that her legacy is already solidified. It seems like Patty Jenkins must have been aware of that fact when she pitched Wonder Woman to Wright, since she had a pretty bold approach to trying to get the actress on board.

She’s made it clear she’d be on board for future chapters too, including that rumored Amazons spinoff, if the opportunity presented itself. Robin Wright worked with Anthony Minghella back in 2006 for Breaking and Entering, a romantic drama that had Wright playing the girlfriend of Jude Law’s lead character as they deal with relationship strains relating to the struggles of raising an autistic child; Law's character turns to an affair and small-time crime. The movie was written and directed by the Oscar-winning director, who's better known for his work on The Talented Mr. Ripley, The English Patient and Cold Mountain.

Breaking and Entering was Anthony Minghella’s final film before he died suddenly from a fatal hemorrhage at the age of 54 in 2008. The movie was not as well received as his other movies and made less than $9 million at the box office, but as Robin Wright told us, the experience had a massive impact on the way she saw acting and what kind of director she has become. She specifically connected with the storytelling he connected with giving actors direction. It sounded like a really unique and inspiring atmosphere on set that Wright took with her fifteen years later for Land.

Land centers on Robin Wright’s character of Edie, who decides to live in an isolated cabin off the grid in Wyoming after suffering an insurmountable loss in her life. She is faced with the harsh reality of surviving in harsh conditions and finds a friend and “Yoda” in Demián Bichir’s character, who joins her during her healing journey. Land has received predominantly positive reception from critics, with Wright most certainly being commended for simultaneously taking on a grueling role and first movie to helm. Land is playing in select theaters now.

Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman films have been monumental to the expansion of Warner Bros’ DC universe. The introduction and deeper dive into Diana Prince’s homeland of Themyscira is an especially exciting aspect of the films that Jenkins hopes to continue to explore with a spinoff focused on the Amazons. Could Robin Wright reprise her role as the late Antiope following an appearance in Wonder Woman 1984?

Robin Wright spoke to CinemaBlend while promoting her directorial debut, Land, a drama she also stars in about a woman who decides to live off the grid in Wyoming after facing tragedy. During the conversation, I asked the House of Cards actress if she has been part of any conversations with Patty Jenkins about returning for the Amazons. In her words:

That’d be the correct answer! How does one even say no to returning to the female-run island that the production filmed on the Italian coast? According to Robin Wright, she has not been involved in conversations with Patty Jenkins about it, and she seems to have heard about it in the same way we did. But if Wright does receive the call to reprise her role as Antiope, she’s ready to go.

The main thing that could stand in the way of Robin Wright’s return as Antiope is the fact that the character died in the first Wonder Woman movie when the world of men and war broke into the island’s invisible barrier. Even so, Antiope did get to return for the sequel in a key flashback sequence during the Amazon Olympics that ended up being pivotal to the film’s themes and messages.

Patty Jenkins has certainly resurrected a main Wonder Woman character before with Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor. What’s dead is dead isn’t necessarily in the rulebook for the DCEU. Robin Wright has opened up before about how much she loves playing Diana Prince’s aunt, citing her excitement about being part of an “iconic time” introducing badass female superheroes to Hollywood.

Patty Jenkins has been talking about her plans to make an Amazons movie since late 2019, initially detailing that she already has the entire story of the spinoff laid out. More recently, Jenkins said the movie will take place after Diana leaves Themyscira. She also teased some “twists and turns linked to what will happen between Wonder Woman 1984 and Wonder Woman 3.”

There are a ton of possibilities for the Amazons spinoff if it does happen, and either way, it does feel like Antiope really lives in the fabric of that world. Wonder Woman’s mom, Queen Hippolyta, could be key to the film, or it could introduce new Amazons like Donna Troy or Nubia. We’ll keep you posted on any and all Wonder Woman updates.

A Princess Bride remake? Inconceivable! The ‘80s classic is so close to many of our hearts that we can recite the lines front to back. But so can our favorite actors, who have been stuck at home like many of us for months, itching for a productive project to get working on. In tribute to the famed fairytale flick, Juno director Jason Reitman has enlisted a slew of celebrities to storm the castle in a homemade version of Princess Bride, which will unfold in chapters on Quibi starting this Monday.

Jason Reitman has been working with a number of actors since March to recreate The Princess Bride in a unique way where talents such as Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Garner, Pedro Pascal, Jack Black, Elijah Wood and Taika Waititi implement at-home costumes and props to collaboratively recreate every scene from the film. Prepare to die (laughing) because this looks perfect for Princess Bride fans. Early on, when stay-at-home orders began to take shape, Jason Reitman, who was set to debut Ghostbusters: Afterlife this summer before it was delayed until March 2021, came up with the idea to remake the comedy with quarantine in mind. After getting the go-ahead from those who hold rights to the film, he reached out to tons of actors, who took turns portraying the film’s characters for different scenes in the movie.

As the teaser from Vanity Fair shows, Josh Gad is taking on the role of the grandson and Rob Reiner as the Grandfather telling him the story. (Fun fact: Reiner directed the original movie). Reitman sought out actual couples who are living together during the pandemic to tackle many of the scenes between Wesley and Buttercup such as Tiffany Haddish and Common, Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner and Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka, who actually had Princess Bride costumes handy from a past Halloween.

Hugh Jackman will wear a dim sum strainer on his head to portray Prince Humperdinck, and David Oyelowo will ride in a golf cart in another moment as the villainous royal. Patton Oswalt and Rainn Wilson are among the remake’s Vizzini and Pedro Pascal, Diego Luna and Keegan Michael Key will make appearances as Inigo Montoya.

Jason Reitman explained why he decided to remake The Princess Bride this way with these words:

In order to distribute the movie exclusively on Quibi, the streaming platform’s founder donated $1 million to World Central Kitchen, a charity helping restaurants stay in business amidst the pandemic by paying them to cook meals for the needy.

The Princess Bride remake will be released in chapters everyday starting Monday and continue for the next two weeks.

It seems like forever ago when Frank and Claire Underwood and the rest of the impressive House of Cards cast were making news for being a part of one of the most controversial and well-made original shows on Netflix. Over the course of the David Fincher-produced show's six-season run, the political drama was home to some of the biggest and brightest stars of the time as well as those who became famous for their portrayals of the Washington, D.C. elite.

But, nearly two years after the final episode of an abbreviated sixth season debuted on the streaming platform, some of you may be wondering what the show's stars are up to now, and where you can catch up with their careers since leaving the seven-time Emmy Award-winning series. Robin Wright (Claire Underwood)

Robin Wright's portrayal of Claire Underwood in House of Cards will probably go down as one of the most significant and decorated performances on a television program. From lobbyist to the President of the United States, Claire was a driving force which was brought to life by Wright's mastery of the medium. Since the show's shocking finale in 2018, the Golden Globe winner has continued to stay busy with her work in the DC Extended Universe, including the upcoming Wonder Woman 1984 and the 2021 release of Zack Snyder's Justice League. Wright is also slated to make her directorial debut with Land, a drama in which she also stars, about a grieving attorney who goes off the grid to escape society.

Michael Kelly (Doug Stamper)

Michael Kelly appeared as Frank Underwood's Chief of Staff and trusted confidant Doug Stamper throughout the entire duration of House of Cards, and was a player in one of the most traumatic and somber moments in the show's run. Since leaving the show with Season 6 finale, Kelly has remained busy with a supporting role on the Amazon original series Jack Ryan, where he plays CIA station chief in Venezuela, Mike November (hopefully he returns for Season 3), as well as being the spokesperson for the most recent Supercuts marketing campaign starting in 2019. The veteran television actor will return to the format for the upcoming political miniseries A Higher Loyalty, which will see Kelly portraying former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe.

Mahershala Ali (Remy Danton)

For parts of the show's first four seasons, Mahershala Ali portrayed Remy Denton, Frank Underwood's former Press Secretary who later bounced around between being a lobbyist and Underwood's temporary Chief of Staff in the absence of Doug Stamper. Since leaving House of Cards, Ali has won two Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor, for his performances in Moonlight and Green Book, the latter of which also earned him a Golden Globe. Ali will take a step into the big screen Marvel Cinematic Universe in the near future, in the announced reboot of Blade, in which he will play the titular vampire hunter.

Rachel Brosnahan (Rachel Posner)

Rachel Brosnahan is one of the biggest and most talented names in television right now thanks to her portrayal of Miriam "Midge" Maisel on the Amazon original series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, but the actress got her first bit of fame after her run as Rachel Posner during the first three seasons of House of Cards. Since leaving the Netflix series, Brosnahan has earned two Golden Globes, an Emmy, and a number of other awards for Mrs. Maisel. We're still waiting to hear more about the Season 4 of the hit comedy series, but in the meantime, expect to see Brosnahan in the historical feature The Courier and the upcoming drama I'm Your Woman.

Kate Mara (Zoe Barnes)

Kate Mara's Zoe Barnes was a major player in the first season of House of Cards when the Washington Herald reporter became the lover/mouthpiece of Frank Underwood. Well, that is until her shocking death at the hands of her former lover in the Season 2 premiere. Since leaving the series, Mara has gone on to star in the panned Fantastic Four, the FX series Pose, and a number of other smaller projects. Mara is set to return to FX for the upcoming drama miniseries A Teacher, in which she will portray a young teacher who gets caught up in an affair with one of her students.

Corey Stoll (Peter Russo)

Corey Stoll's Peter Russo, a Democratic congressman recovering from severe addiction issues, was one of Frank Underwood's first victims in Season 1 of House of Cards, but he wouldn't be his last. Since his departure from the Netflix series, Stoll has gone on to have a rather successful career in film and television, with appearances in Ant-Man, First Man, and The Strain to name a few. The talented actor will next appear in Steven Spielberg's adaption of West Side Story as well The Many Saints of Newark, the highly-anticipated prequel to the HBO series The Sopranos, which is scheduled to hit theaters in March 2021.

Boris McGiver (Tom Hammerschmidt)

For all but the third season of House of Cards, Boris McGiver played Tom Hammerschmidt, the no nonsense editor-in-chief of the Washington Herald newspaper who proved to be a constant thorn in the side of Frank Underwood. After the show wrapped up in 2018, McGiver joined the cast of the CBS supernatural drama series Evil, as well as the ABC legal drama For Life, where he plays the prosecutor who was responsible for putting the show's main character, Aaron Wallace, in prison in the first place.

Jayne Atkinson (Catherine Durant)

Jayne Atkinson's portrayal of former Louisiana Senator and Secretary of State Catherine Durant was one the most memorable performances on House of Cards, especially in the show's final seasons for the vicious games she and President Claire Underwood played against one another. Since her departure from the series, Atkinson has continued to pop up in various television programs like The Walking Dead, Castle Rock, and Bluff City Law, which was cancelled by NBC after the original 10 episodes that were ordered were filmed.

Nathan Darrow (Edward Meechum)

For the first four seasons of House of Cards Nathan Darrow played United States Capitol Police officer and Frank Underwood's personal security guard Edward Meechum until his character's tragic ending. Besides his tragic death and strange threeway scene with the Underwoods, Meechum was a bright spot of the show in its early days, and provided some great moments. Near the end of his run on the Netflix series, Darrow joined the cast of Gotham where he portrayed Victor Fries, aka Mr. Freeze. Darrow is currently featured on the CBS crime show FBI.

Sakina Jaffrey (Linda Vasquez)

Sakina Jaffrey was mostly on House of Cards in the show's first two seasons, where she portrayed former United States President Garrett Walker's Chief of Staff, Linda Vasquez, one of the many enemies of Frank Underwood in his rise to power. Since leaving the show, Jaffrey has continued to have a successful career in film and television, with roles in major projects like American Gods, Homeland, Lost in Space, and the Apple TV+ series Defending Jacob, where she stars alongside Chris Evans, Michelle Dockery, J.K. Simmons, and other members of a large ensemble cast.

Sebastian Arcelus (Lucas Goodwin)

Sebastian Arcelus' portrayal of reporter Lucas Goodwin will probably go down as one of the most traumatizing and unforgettable descents into madness featured on the show. In trying to find dirt and take down Frank Underwood, Goodwin's life (professional and personal) continues to get worse and worse until its tragic ending. Following his departure from House of Cards, Arcelus found moderate success on television shows like Madame Secretary, The Leftovers, and most recently, small roles on FBI and Bull. One of the most notable facts about Arcelus is that, due to him being a descendant of Sophia of Hanover, he is in the line of succession to the British throne, though he is pretty far down the list.

Kevin Spacey (Frank Underwood)

And finally, there's the man who started it all — Kevin Spacey. Until being written off after a number of personal controversies all but put a stop to Spacey's career, Frank Underwood was written off the show ahead of the final season in 2017. Since being dropped from the show in which he was the star (and narrator) for five seasons, the former Hollywood legend has only made two appearances in some of the strangest YouTube videos you can find on the internet with "Let Me Be Frank" on December 24, 2018, and then again a year later with "KTWKK."

Well, that's what the cast of House of Cards has been up to lately, or at least most of the cast. Some have gone on to find a great deal of success in film and television, others found themselves on the line of succession, and others are finding strange ways to fill their time. With people still hunkering down in their homes, streaming services are making it a priority to provide top-notch content to keep them occupied, as they remain indoors. Disney+ has been at the forefront of this, having added a number of new titles in recent weeks. One film that’s been notably absent from the service’s library since launch is The Princess Bride, which was, at one point, available to watch on Netflix. Well, it appears Disney+ is finally bringing the classic film into the fold, and viewers aren’t going to have to wait long for it to arrive.

Disney+ has announced that The Princess Bride will be available to stream starting on May 1, and the streaming giant found the best way to announce it. The service released a video on Twitter featuring Princess Bride stars Robin Wright and Cary Elwes. In addition to revealing the news, the two also bantered about the potential perks they can now receive due to the film’s release. Check out the sweet and funny clip for yourself:

The Princess Bride is a long overdue addition to Disney+, and it’s nice to see the film finally join other fan-favorites. As mentioned, several high-profile projects have been released on the service, such as Frozen II and Onward. Like those two movies, The Princess Bride gives viewers a more fantastical viewing option, yet it also provides a nice jolt of nostalgia.

But the best part of this development has to be the mini reunion between Robin Wright and Cary Elwes. Even though it’s been over 30 years since they worked on the Rob Reiner-directed fantasy, the two appear to be closer than ever, and their celebrated chemistry is still intact.

In the years following its release, some have criticized certain elements of The Princes Bride, while others tend find it to be slightly overrated. Despite the critiques, plenty of people still hold a soft spot for it. This includes NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who once enjoyed annoying his teammates in the locker room by constantly quoting the movie.

The Princess Bride’s enduring popularity has recently led to conversations of a possible remake, per Sony CEO Tony Vinciquerra. This led to an outcry from fans, who argued that an update of the original would be unnecessary. These sentiments were echoed by the original cast.

For the past few years, Cary Elwes was particularly vocal about not wanting a remake. Following Vinciquerra’s comments, he reiterated that there’s no use in reimagining a film as perfect as The Princess Bride.

We can’t say for sure if or when a remake of The Princess Bride will actually happen, as there haven’t been any real updates since that announcement. Regardless, fans will always be able to look to the original and, now that it’s coming to Disney+, doing so just became that much easier.

Believe it or not, Paul Rudd is turning 50 this Saturday, April 6. And Robert Downey Jr. is turning 54 on Thursday, April 4. Fifty used to be considered the start of the golden years -- aka getting "old" -- but now it's the start of a golden age for action heroes. Marvel and DC stars are the biggest superheroes in our universe, and many of the lead stars are still saving the world into their 50s and well beyond. Rudd may still look the same age he was when he made Clueless but Marvel's Ant-Man now part of that exclusive 50-plus club.

There are so many amazing active action stars north of 50 -- Tom Cruise, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jackie Chan, Harrison Ford, Linda Hamilton, Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis (plus most of the other Expendables) -- it would take forever to list them all. That's a great problem to have in a world still so obsessed with youth. But this list just focuses on 10 past or present Marvel/DC stars who, like Paul Rudd, make turning 50 look like just the start of a superhero's journey.

Robert Downey Jr., 54, Marvel's Iron Man

In 2019, it doesn't get much cooler than Robert Downey Jr., giving hope to everyone who has yet to reach their mid-50s. RDJ is considered the godfather of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which started with the 2008 film Iron Man. That was more than 10 years ago, when RDJ was a young lad in his early 40s. Now that he's 54 (well, 53 until tomorrow, 4/4/19), he's still the lead voice of the MCU heading into Avengers: Endgame (open April 26). Tony Stark is one of the heroes who will do "whatever it takes" to change Thanos' Decimation from Avengers: Infinity War. RDJ pulled a career 180 thanks to Marvel, and now he's a very well paid superhero and a fan favorite around the world. Ask the mid-1990s if they ever saw THAT coming.

Halle Berry, 52, Marvel's X-Men, DC's Catwoman

Halle Berry joined Marvel's X-Men in 2000 and she hasn't really aged a day, unless it's to look better now. She returned as Storm in X2, X-Men: The Last Stand, and X-Men: Days of Future Past. Back in 2004, she also ventured into the DC world as Catwoman, which was not a huge success anywhere but the Razzie Awards, but that's OK. Along the way she also picked up an Oscar for Monster's Ball, played Jinx in 007's Die Another Day, and recently joined the Kingsman franchise for The Golden Circle. She is now gearing up for John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (open May 17) after cold calling director Chad Stahelski and saying she wanted to be in the movie. Gimme a role. So they did, and she not only plays a badass assassin, she has her own two dogs who kick ass as her sidekicks. She showed off her amazing fight training for the role, including training the dogs. As she wrote after wrapping John Wick 3, "This film reinforces that AGE is nothing but an insignificant number!" The main star of that franchise would probably agree (see below).

Josh Brolin, 51, Marvel's Thanos, Marvel's Cable

Josh Brolin was 2018's unexpected sex symbol as Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. I can't say I get the whole "daddy" thing, but good for Josh Brolin for still getting it into his 50s, even as a giant purple villain. Brolin has two active Marvel roles, and both are muscled-up beasts. He had an intense diet and exercise routine to play Cable in Deadpool 2, which came out last year when he was freshly 50. Thanos is the man to beat in Avengers: Endgame, which is already the biggest movie of 2019. And Brolin is currently filming a different kind of action movie in Dune, posting a shirtless photo to reveal his work as a weapons master. The guy looks like he'd kick your ass with a glance, and it's especially impressive knowing he's also the same guy from The Goonies. He wasn't even 20 when he made that movie -- his first -- in 1985 and he's at least twice that man today.

Robin Wright, 52, DC's Antiope

A lot of us first got to know Robin Wright as the beautiful object of someone else's affections -- as Buttercup in The Princess Bride in 1987 and as the ill-fated Jenny of 1994's Forrest Gump. Now she's best known for playing ruthless leaders, including Amazon Army General Antiope, Diana Prince's aunt, in DC's Wonder Woman. She'll also be back for the sequel Wonder Woman 1984, which comes out in 2020. Antiope trained Wonder Woman and showed herself to be a tough mentor in the 2017 movie. Wright also led the House of Cards cast and crew through the debacle of Kevin Spacey's exit, and the final season was all about her character, Claire Underwood. It's great to see Robin Wright getting strong leadership roles as she enters her 50s -- proving herself not only still beautiful, but also more powerful than ever in the second half of her century.

Will Smith, 50, DC's Deadshot

Will Smith is one of the many action heroes, like Tom Cruise, who have just kept on doing their usual action roles into their 50s. Why not? If it ain't broke (too badly)... Unlike Cruise, though, Smith has embraced the superhero experience. He joined the DCEU as Deadshot for 2016's Suicide Squad, but before that he played vigilante superhero John Hancock in an original story with Hancock. Smith first shot to fame with The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, but he got his action credentials going with Bad Boys in 1995, followed by Independence Day and Men in Black. Now it's 2019 and he's currently filming Bad Boys for Life, the third film in the franchise, for release in 2020 when he'll be 51 and co-star Martin Lawrence will be 54. Sadly, he won't be returning as Deadshot for The Suicide Squad. Instead, Idris Elba (46) is taking on the role for James Gunn's movie. But Smith has plenty of other films in the works, including Ang Lee's sci-fi film Gemini Man, and of course we'll see him soon as the new Genie in Aladdin.

Samuel L. Jackson, 70, Marvel's Nick Fury

If 50 is the new 25, Sam Jackson is basically 45 at this point. Scratch that, he's 35 -- half his current age. The guy is everywhere! We would all be so lucky to have his stamina at 30, never mind 70. The man never stops. He's currently Nick Fury, de-aged for Captain Marvel, but back to his modern one-eyed self for the end of Avengers: Infinity War and whatever he does in Avengers: Endgame, not to mention his return for Spider-Man: Far From Home. That just for Marvel, he also had Glass earlier this year, as the title supervillain Mr. Glass, plus John Shaft II in Shaft. He'll also be back for the sequel to The Hitman's Bodyguard. He's a hoot on the press tours of his movies, and while you can never quite trust everything he tells you, he always makes it interesting. He is living his best life, and if there's such a thing as #70Goals, it's this badass motherf*cker.

Keanu Reeves, 54, DC's Constantine

Granted, it's been several years since Keanu Reeves played DC's John Constantine in the 2005 film Constantine, but now that he's 54, Keanu is an even more popular action hero than ever. He's had multiple iconic action roles over the years -- from Speed to The Matrix -- and he's still kicking ass as John Wick. His first John Wick film came out in 2014 and Chapter 2 arrived in 2017. John Wick 3 is coming out this May, and it's meant to be the biggest one yet. Keanu even shoots guns while on horseback on the streets of New York City. And, yeah, that's really him on that horse. Keanu is still so youthful in appearance and action, it's a running joke that he might be immortal. He's even reuniting with his Bill & Ted co-star Alex Winter for Bill & Ted 3, like no time has passed since the '80s.

Hugh Jackman, 50, Marvel's Wolverine

Hugh Jackman actually aged himself up to play Wolverine in Logan. He shot to fame as the character in 2000's X-Men, getting and staying famously ripped through X2, X-Men: The Last Stand, X-Men: Origins - Wolverine, X-Men: First Class, The Wolverine, X-Men: Days of Future Past, and X-Men: Apocalypse. Wolverine wasn't big on aging and neither is Hugh Jackman, it seems. Ryan Reynolds is desperate to re-team with Wolverine in a future Deadpool movie, and while that may not pan out, I could definitely see the two starring in another action film together. Jackman seems to just be getting started as an action hero -- while also singing/dancing in The Greatest Showman and earning acclaim as a dramatic lead. I wouldn't be shocked if we see him still kicking ass on screen 10 years from now, not looking very different from today.

Nicole Kidman, 51, DC's Atlanna

Nicole Kidman played Arthur Curry's mother in Aquaman, and while Moms don't always get to have badass action scenes, not all moms are this queen. Atlanna got to save the day in one epic scene that was shot in one take. That wasn't her first DC role -- she played Dr. Chase Meridian in Batman Forever, but her job in that one was mostly to fall in love with the hero and be saved. This time, at age 51, she got to be the superhero who saves. She's another star, like Samuel L. Jackson, who appears to have a dozen projects going at any time. She was in The Upside, Destroyer, Boy Erased, and Aquaman last year, with The Godfinch and the Fox News film Fair and Balanced this year -- plus Big Little Lies Season 2 on HBO. From Emmy-award winning roles to billion dollar superhero films, Kidman makes it look pretty easy.

Patrick Stewart, 78, Marvel's Professor X

Patrick Stewart was already 60 by the time he joined Marvel's X-Men in 2000. He was a thespian with the Royal Shakespeare Company, but later in life he found himself the lead of two major franchises -- Star Trek as Jean-Luc Picard, and X-Men as Charles Xavier. He finished his run as Professor X with Logan, but instead of slowing down, he signed on to return as Picard for his own TV show on CBS All Access. William Shatner recently said he couldn't believe Stewart was doing that, saying a TV series is debilitating enough for a 25-year-old -- since you're working 14-18 hours a day -- but to do it in your late 70s? Stewart himself called it "an unexpected but delightful surprise" to find himself "excited and invigorated" to return to the role. He's ready to engage all over again.

The list of action stars still kicking butt well past 50 goes on and on -- from Vin Diesel to Don Cheadle and Mark Ruffalo, the Marvel list alone could fill books. It's inspiring to think that you can have a rough patch in your 30s but be a superhero in your 50s like Robert Downey Jr., or start as a high school girl's rom-com crush in your 20s and then possibly leap up Thanos' butt in your 50s like Paul Rudd. #LifeGoals

Here's to all of these stars and more still saving the day into their 90s, like Marvel's biggest hero, Stan Lee. Excelsior!

Netflix only gave visitors to Dallas' Love Field airport about four days to watch the final season of House of Cards before spoiling a major plot point with a giant statue. On November 6 -- Election Night -- the airport debuted a statue of Robin Wright's fictional character, President Claire Hale Underwood. That's not the spoiler, we already knew she was POTUS. But you can see the spoiler bumping out in photos, including this one shared by newly famous politician Dan Crenshaw:

Yep, President Claire Underwood is preggers. That twist came late in the eight-episode Season 6. Claire got pregnant with the late President Frank Underwood's (Kevin Spacey) baby thanks to IVF, using Frank's frozen sperm from a trip to the doctor back in Season 2.

Not everyone had a chance to watch the final season before stumbling on the statue. Funny that Congressman-elect Dan Crenshaw was one of the people to see it and spread the news. The former Navy SEAL recently achieved national fame thanks (but no thanks) to mockery from Pete Davidson on Saturday Night Live.

Apparently Dan Crenshaw is also a House of Cards fan. He'd know that First Lady-turned-President Claire Underwood is a Dallas native. The engraving under her new statue reads, "Claire Hale Underwood of Highland Park, Texas, the 47th President of the United States of America."

The statue is not the only piece of House of Cards fiction to crossover into real life. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix worked with ad agency Wieden and Kennedy on a campaign to bring Claire Underwood's legacy to life for the final season. They set up an infomercial selling a President Claire Underwood Commemorative Plate, with ads running on late night TV and during daytime game shows.

On House of Cards, Claire Underwood succeeded her husband Frank Underwood, who was the 46th president. Netflix created a real gravesite in Frank's hometown of Gaffney, S.C., to mark where the character was buried. That tombstone is said to be staying permanently. The town's mayor told local news station WSPA that the show has brought a lot of people to Gaffney. The local paper even ran an obituary for Frank, whose death was mentioned (but not shown) in the final season.

Unlike Frank's grave, Claire's statue is not permanent. The Dallas Morning News had said the statue would be on display until today (November 14) but THR states it will stand for another week.

House of Cards buried Frank Underwood to write star Kevin Spacey out of the series after allegations of sexual misconduct. The cast and crew wanted to finish out the series -- with Robin Wright pushing to retain the jobs of the many people who work on the show. So they killed Frank and didn't include Spacey in the final season.

Claire Hale Underwood's pregnancy wasn't the only shocker of the final season, which is available for streaming now on Netflix. Check out our fall TV premiere guide for more shows to watch.

In Wonder Woman, Robin Wright played the role of Antiope, the badass Themyscrian general who trained her niece Diana in combat. Despite the character's death in that film, the actress will again play Antiope in Wonder Woman 1984. Her role in the sequel film featuring the feminist icon means a lot to Robin Wright, as she explained:

Robin Wright was speaking to Variety in the context of a larger conversation about the Time's Up movement, pay parity and equality, and it's clear that she sees Wonder Woman 1984 as taking on extra significance in light of that. That Wonder Woman 1984 is arriving amidst these societal discussions and feminist movements is appropriate and it seems to mean a lot to Robin Wright to get to be a part of it as Antiope.

As Robin Wright mentioned, Wonder Woman was created decades ago, but what she symbolizes (justice, equality and truth) are all salient ideals that never go out of style. That's how a character that was created in 1941, in a film set in 1984, can feel relevant now in 2018 with today's social movements.

Robin Wright has been vocal on these issues and has advocated for more opportunities for female directors and pay parity. The actress seems to see Wonder Woman and what she symbolizes as helping to push that progress forward.

Robin Wright has a point too. The first Wonder Woman showed Hollywood that a big-budget superhero movie led by a female character with a female director can do just as well as the tried and true male-dominated blockbusters.

Now in the wake of Patty Jenkins' film, we are seeing the effect it has had, on the industry. Captain Marvel, Black Widow and Red Sonja are all on the way to further shatter the glass ceiling on the big screen.

So while Robin Wright sees Wonder Woman 1984 and her role in it as taking on greater meaning given the mood of the moment, I think for many of us, we are just excited to see Antiope back in action.

The character died in the first act of Wonder Woman, so that certainly raises some questions about how exactly she will be back for the sequel. Flashbacks seem the most likely way, but we also know that Chris Pine's Steve Trevor, who also died, will be showing up in 1984. So maybe Antiope will show up in the flesh as well, although I wouldn't expect to see her with a perm wearing neon leggings.

Wonder Woman 1984 was just recently delayed and will now come out on June 5, 2020. Despite Wonder Woman moving out of next year's calendar, 2019 is still positively stacked. Check out all of next year's biggest movies in our 2019 release schedule.

House of Cards is getting ready to make its sixth and final bow on Netflix. The fate of the political drama was at one point in substantial question. Did the series' leading lady hesitate about continuing? Robin Wright revealed the answer, saying:

Robin Wright's response to ET falls in line with what the actress had formerly expressed regarding the show continuing. Wright's House of Cards co-star, Patricia Clarkson, had previously revealed that Wright was behind the push to let the series conclude. In a previous interview, Wright had tallied the job loss brought about by House of Cards being cancelled following Season 5 at 2,500. Instead of abruptly losing their jobs, Robin Wright's fight assured they would have ample time to prepare.

After Robin Wright successfully helped pave the way for the Netflix drama to conclude properly, it had to. House of Cards' wrap was as emotional as one might have expected. Opening up about the final day on set, Robin Wright took fans behind the scenes, saying:

Dancing in the "Oval Office." Few shows can say they closed out their run like that. The political drama will draw to a close with Robin Wright's Claire having taken the helm of the series. Now the unmitigated lead of the show, Wright will close out its final chapter. As for Claire's husband, Francis Underwood, he is deceased as of Season 6.

His fate was revealed in a clip preceding the season's release. How Frank met his deadly fate is a mystery that Season 6 will take its time resolving. Given the way Season 5 ended, you have to imagine Claire may have had a hand in his death. Only Season 6 can resolve that theory for certain. Or it can leave everyone guessing.

The potential question of "who" is not the only mystery surrounding Frank's demise. There is also the question of how he left the world. Viewers of the show do not have much longer to go before they can watch for the answer. The premiere is now just over a week away.

While Robin Wright will lead House of Cards through its final installment, she will not be alone. Diane Lane and Greg Kinnear will enter the fray as siblings in the influential Shepherd family. So, expect of lots of drama to unfold as there is a complex relationship between the Shepherds and the Underwoods.

Along with fighting for the show to complete its run, Robin Wright has also fought to preserve the series' legacy. Now fans of the drama will find out how it all ends, and whether Claire will end up on top.

House of Cards' sixth and final season premieres November 2 on Netflix. The political drama will be joined by other upcoming content that will be arriving on the streaming giant this fall.

Netflix's House of Cards will forever be a historic show. It broke ground as a streaming drama, with an all-star cast lead by the likes of Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright. It's a method that countless shows and streaming services have followed, although House of Cards also has a dark cloud around its legacy. Spacey was fired from his role as star/producer following a bevy of sexual misconduct allegations, some of which reportedly occurred on the show's set. The series will conclude with its sixth and final season, and a new teaser revealed the show would be killing Francis Underwood off. But how?

Unfortunately, its seems we're not going to be getting that answer anytime soon. In addition to waiting until the season premieres in its entirety on November 2nd, House of Cards evidently won't be give Netflix subscribers the answers right away. Instead, the truth will slowly come out-- at least according to a new report by TV Line.

This newest rumor is certainly intriguing, and sounds like a brilliant way for House of Cards to exist in the shadow of Kevin Spacey's departure-- especially as it also ended Francis Underwood's story prematurely. By making his death a continually developing storyline, it keeps his presence in the show's final season. Furthermore, it allows House of Cards to get ahead of the narrative, and shape the unexpected departure into a purposeful story choice.

House of Cards will also break new ground by focusing on Robin Wright's Claire Underwood, allowing her to be the main narrator in the show's fourth wall breaking moments. This was slowly set up throughout Season 5, with Claire occasionally engaging with the audience. And the season ended with her looking directly into the camera, and proclaiming it was her turn. The seeds have been planted for Wright to emerge as an even larger presence in the show, and now she'll carry House of Cards and the country itself on President Claire Underwood's shoulders.

The future of House of Cards was put into jeopardy when allegations against Kevin Spacey began to flood in. After actor Anthony Rapp alleged the actor assaulted him at the age of 14, more men began to share their experiences-- including crew members from House of Cards. Still very early into filming Season 6, production was shut down indefinitely. Robin Wright reportedly went to bat for the cast and crew, and helped convince Netflix and the producers to finish the show's story. And that's exactly what they did.

House of Cards' sixth and final season is a few months away from arriving on Netflix. And as many know, that was not always guaranteed. Stepping into the front seat of the series after five seasons as the co-lead, its star/director is opening up about the fight to save the series. Taking readers behind the scenes in a new interview, Robin Wright describes the fight she waged to get the series a final season following the Kevin Spacey scandal. Wright said:

Robin Wright shared the intense sequence of events in an interview with Net-A-Porter. The actress recently broke her silence regarding her former co-star in an interview with Today. In it, she described her relationship with Kevin Spacey as only taking place on the set of the series. She added that she did not "know the man."

With the series holding on by a veritable thread, Robin Wright sprang into action. A tidbit that is not a huge revelation. Patricia Clarkson previously revealed that it was Wright who led the charge to save House of Cards, when its end seemed all but certain. Clarkson also discussed Wright's advocating for those whose livelihoods depended on the drama lasting for another season. In her own words, Wright iterated where she was coming from, while defending the show's legacy. Robin Wright said:

In the wake of all that happened, Robin Wright went on to describe the atmosphere on set as one filled with "shock and fear." Recounting the anxiety from people scared of losing their job. And as an executive producer on the series, Wright shared that she felt responsible for them. In the end, Netflix agreed to a sixth season that would bring the political drama to a close, and will bow later this year. The final season will revolve around freshly-minted President Claire Underwood.

Robin Wright will be joined by new cast members Diane Lane and Greg Kinnear. The duo will portray brother and sister, Bill and Annette Shepherd, on the drama. Members of an elite family, they have the ability to hold significant sway on America's political future. It is a story that's ability to be told can be primarily attributed to Robin Wright leading the fight for House of Cards to have its proper ending. That end is not too far around the corner.

The sixth and final season of House of Cards will bow in its entirety Friday, November 2 on Netflix. The DC live-action universe has had a rocky road, as the studio attempted to quickly catch up to its behemoth competition in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. DC did this largely by big ensemble projects, resulting in a slew of critical failures. Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman stands out among the rest, making a ton of money and being universally acclaimed in the process. A sequel, titled Wonder Woman 1984, is currently in production, and is arguably the most highly anticipated blockbuster on DC's current docket. DC is keeping the sequel's contents thoroughly under wraps, with only a few choice actors confirmed for the cast. Now it looks like another big name is attached: House of Cards actress Robin Wright, who will reportedly be reprising her role as Antiope.

This report comes to us from Net-A-Porter, which did an extensive interview with Robin Wright about her life and career, briefly touching upon her acclaimed role in the DCEU. When detailing Wright's busy schedule, the profile reveals that she recently traveled to Spain to film flashback sequences for Wonder Woman 1984 alongside Connie Nielson's Queen Hippolyta. What those scenes entail could be anyone's guess, but fans of Wonder Woman are going to be very pleased with this news.

Robin Wright's involvement in Wonder Woman was a major selling point ahead of its release. She delivered Antiope with both heart and power, but moviegoers were heartbroken when the character perished during the movie's first act. While this was the motivation for Diana's departure from Themyscira and into Man's World, we definitely could have used more Antiope during Patty Jenkins' first DC film.

Antiope was a fan favorite character of Wonder Woman, and she was slated to appear in Zack Snyder's Justice League. But after extensive reshoots were shot by Joss Whedon, a handful of supporting characters landed on the cutting room floor. Wonder Woman 1984 gives the chance for Robin Wright's character to return to DC's universe, and further expand Diana's backstory on the Amazonian island.

Although still unconfirmed by the studio, Robin Wright will reportedly co-star in Wonder Woman 1984 alongside co-stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, and Connie Nielsen. They'll be joined by newcomers Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal, and Ravi Patel.

Anticipation for Wonder Woman 1984 is at a fever pitch, but there are still a few more DC blockbusters to arrive in theaters before Diana Prince takes center stage once again. First up will be James Wan's Aquaman, giving Jason Momoa's Arthur Curry his first solo flick. After that will come Shazam!, taking a decidedly lighter tone following and 14 year old Billy Batson's sudden acquisition of superpowers.

Back in October 2017, Hollywood was thrown for a loop when House of Cards star Kevin Spacey faced multiple accusations of improper sexual behavior, with at least one case involving a minor. Spacey was quickly ousted from all of his ongoing projects, including House of Cards, and his former co-star Robin Wright is finally speaking up about it after having kept mum for months while Season 6 went through its production phase. Saying she wasn't aware of his inappropriate behavior elsewhere, Wright described her relationship with Spacey as such:

Robin Wright's answer to Today could be considered somewhat surprising. On the one hand, she and Spacey portrayed one of the most powerful couples on TV for the past five years, so one might expect them to be very close away from the show. But on the other hand, the Underwoods are far more duplicitous and scheme-ready than most husband-and-wife combos on TV, so perhaps Frank and Claire's motivations and machinations got in the way of Wright and Spacey becoming better friends.

However it went, Robin Wright stands by the fact that Kevin Spacey was always "respectful" and "professional" in their relationship, and that he was "great" with her. To that end, Wright felt like that's the only aspect of the situation that she felt she really had a right to talk about.

But even though House of Cards Season 6 will put Claire Underwood front and center in the Oval Office, while also giving the actress a chance to direct the series finale, Robin Wright isn't necessarily 100% convinced that booting Spacey was the right decision for Netflix to have made. In her words:

While Kevin Spacey's career may never take off again, Robin Wright is going strong, and you can find her back in the hot seat when House of Cards Season 6 debuts on Netflix this fall with new cast members. House of Cards is set to premiere its final season sometime in 2018, which is quite an achievement considering the series seemed dead in the water last year. The scandal with Kevin Spacey certainly had spirits low, with some thinking cancellation was all but certain. But actress Patricia Clarkson recently revealed Robin Wright was always ready to press on. Apparently, Wright was a big part in helping the series return for its final episodes, and rallied those around her at a time where things weren't looking so good:

Robin Wright doesn't just play a powerful leader on House of Cards, she's apparently a force to be reckoned with in real life as well. Patricia Clarkson said it was Wright who rallied show writers Frank Pugliese and Melissa Gibson, who only had a short amount of time to throw out the planned season and rework the drama in a way that didn't involve Kevin Spacey. It was a monumental task for any show writer to take on, but Clarkson told The Talk everyone was able to pull through thanks to Wright's rallying and insistence in saving the crew's jobs.

Patricia Clarkson implied the effort put into reworking House of Cards was worth it, as she described the upcoming eight-episode season as "stunning." Of course, there was also the added bonus of most of the show's crew, who didn't have a guaranteed check when the show's status was in limbo, staying on board to help make the finale happen. Once again, it took Robin Wright not only taking on the fight to keep everyone's jobs, but also the responsibility of being the new head of the series in a season without Kevin Spacey. And while some may have originally doubted Wright's ability to lead the show, they may have been silenced by her chilling Season 5 scenes, or her recent Independence Day message.

As mentioned, House of Cards is expected to arrive on Netflix sometime in 2018. While it was released a number of months ago, Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman has not stopped being a major aspect of conversation for both the superhero genre, and Hollywood film production in general. With the acclaimed Monster director now officially signed up to helm the highly anticipated sequel, rumors have been swirling about who and what will be included when Wonder Woman's sequel arrives in theaters. And now one original cast member has revealed that she'd love to show up in Wonder Woman 2: Robin Wright.

Robin Wright has been doing some press lately for her role in another highly anticipated sequel, Blade Runner 2049. When she was asked if she'd like to come back for Diana Prince's second solo adventure, she responded with a resounding:

Well, that was easy. Robin Wright's comment to E! makes it clear that she'd like to play Antiope in another film. The only question is, how exactly could this be possible?

At the end of Wonder Woman's first act, we see German soldiers invade Themyscira in pursuit of Chris Pine's Steve Tervor. What results is an epic battle that sees quite a few Amazons die in battle, including Robin Wright's General Antiope. This was a pretty big shocker for fans, and made the stakes for the rest of the film feel much more dire. But since she'd bit the dust, how exactly could Antiope return for Wonder Woman 2?

It turns out that she's already being brought back from the dead- short of. Robin Wright will reportedly appear in Justice League as her DCEU character, most likely through a flashback sequence involving the army of Parademons. So if Amazonian flashbacks are on the table, then perhaps Robin Wright might be able to get herself involved in Wonder Woman's sequel. Having both Wonder Woman and Hippolyta continue to mourn their late Aunt/Sister throughout the years would be a great way to keep the conflict between Diana and her mother interesting.

Alas, we know very little information about Patty Jenkins' second Wonder Woman film, so it's all theorizing and guess work at this point. Jenkins had previously stated that she was hoping to jump forward in time a bit, allowing Diana function in a more modern version of America. This would help bridge the gap between Wonder Woman's first solo adventure and her eventual appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. And crafting another story that is set in the past will once again allow the movie to function independently from the rest of the DC Extended Universe.

Massive spoilers ahead for House of Cards Season 5. Don't read on unless you've finished watching.

Netflix's House of Cards is a groundbreaking TV series that broke the mold in regards to how quality programming is produced in the age of streaming. Since then, Netflix and its competitors have produced an outstanding amount of online programming, which is able to function outside of the world of advertising. And with House of Cards releasing its shocking fifth season, the dark political drama shows no signs of slowing. On the contrary, Season 5 was perhaps the most cutthroat and thrilling entry into the series yet. Plenty of jaw dropping moments occurred, and we've managed to whittle it down to seven savage moments for Season 5.

Francis Has Terrorist Joshua Masterson Killed

In the final episodes of Season 4, we saw as two domestic terrorists kidnapped an innocent American family on our soil. And while the mother and daughter were eventually released, the shocking cliffhanger saw James Miller beheaded by the ICO sympathizers, with Claire and Francis proclaiming that they will use terror and fear to rally the American people. The first episode of Season 5 saw the wide range manhunt for terrorist Joshua Masterson, but Frank had other plans

Because he had captured Masterson all along, using the threat of his escape as a tool to manipulate both the public and press. We see Francis come face to face with Masterson (the first time Frank addresses the audience in the season), and assume he'll quickly be tried and sentenced. Instead, Frank tells his guard to murder him and "get rid of the asset". Despite Masterson being an American citizen, Francis refuses to give him the right to trial, and takes him out of this world.

The Underwoods Steal The Election

While the Underwoods were facing a variety of threats to their security this season, they were also in the midst of their campaign for Francis' re-election, with Claire running as VP. But with the massive amount of scandals and protest around the country, the Underwoods saw a potential loss on the horizon. So it was time to play dirty...er.

In order to put a pause on the election, Francis and his associates ran a long con. Using the threat of domestic terrorism, they had states open polling centers that were heavily guarded. And on election day through the use of fear, staged attacks, and insane favors from politicians, the Underwoods stopped two states from successfully polling their constituents. From there, they reached in and out of all branches of government, before opening up those states again after Will Conway's own scandals shifted the power back to Frank. And just like that, both Underwoods were sworn in.

Claire Kills Tom Yates Mid-Coitus

Throughout Season 5, we saw the divide between Claire and Francis continue to grow. While they worked together, the couple were largely unromantic. Instead, writer Tom Yates spent a great deal of time at Claire's side, with the two even sleeping most nights in her bed together and sharing words of love. But when Tom's presence in the White House threatens to bring another scandal to the administration, Claire breaks it of. The only problem is that she'd already revealed Francis' murder of both Zoe Barnes and Peter Russo, so Tom knew too much.

In order to rectify this, Claire meets with Tom one last time. The two share a drink and begin having sex, but it soon becomes clear that Tom is having trouble breathing. While she continues their sexual escapade, Yates eventually dies, with Claire revealing that she poisoned him before they started doing the horizontal mambo. With Claire's hands now bloody as well, it seems like she's at her most deadly and cold.

Frank Has LeAnn Killed

One of the more interesting characters revealed last season was Neve Campbell's LeAnn Harvey. A campaign manager and Claire's personal confidant, we saw how LeAnn and Doug clashed in their respective styles for getting things done. In Season 5, LeAnn had a ton of ups and downs. Her relationship with Aidan Macallan helped the Underwood campaign steal information from potential voters, allowing them to target specific audiences illegally. But after the Underwoods finally won the election, things started to go downhill for LeAnn.

She was quickly forced out of the White House, with Claire and Francis attempting to distance themselves from both LeAnn and Aidan. She was briefly brought back as President Claire's chief of staff, before once again being kicked out. Seeing the writing on the wall, LeAnn attempted to get enough intel to protect herself. But as she drove with her gun in hand, we saw headlights behind her. What resulted was a giant wreck that most likely killed LeAnn, with Francis making the call for her death.

Doug Takes The Blame For Zoe's Death

As an audience member, House of Cards is interesting because you're simultaneously rooting for the Underwoods, while also hoping they finally get caught. Regarding the latter, we saw Zoe's former boss Tom Hammerschmidt continue to investigate the Underwoods, as well as Zoe's sudden death from the Season 2 premiere. And although Tom was attempting to nail down the Underwoods, his gaze soon turned to Doug Stamper.

Doug's apparent guilt came partly from Rachel Posner's ex-girlfriend Lisa, who showed up in DC looking for answers and justice. When Doug briefly stalks Lisa, Tom understands that there is something shady going on. Additionally, footage from the day Zoe died shows someone who appears to be Doug in the same train station. It was actually Frank, but Stamper eventually agreed to taking the blame for he and Claire. In Doug's final moments of the season we see him at home, with an ankle monitor on. His fate is ultimately rather unclear.

Claire Doesn't Pardon Francis

While the Underwoods managed to secure a victory to their Presidential Run, it wasn't without missteps. The couple, mostly Francis, have committed a variety of crimes during the show's run. And although they won the election, Frank decides to resign from the Presidency so he could work from outside the confines of the office, while also presumably coordinating with President Claire. But the only way he could survive the allegations and attacks on his character was by a Presidential Pardon.

But Claire has other plans. Now that she's got the power, Claire makes a Presidential address that seems to hint at her husband's corruption. And the speech comes and goes without her public pardoning of Francis, meaning that Kevin Spacey's signature character may be SOL in Season 6. Frank's lack of communication with his plans to resign was the straw that broke the camel's back, and it seems like Claire is flying solo from now on.

Claire Finally Addresses The Audience

Season 4's finale saw Claire look directly at the camera, hinting that she'll be breaking the fourth wall and speaking to us the way Frank has. Season 5 teased this multiple times, adding a new level of tension and building anticipation. She would first break her silence around midway through the season; Claire tells us she's been aware of our presence all along, but isn't sure of our intentions. And intentions matter to her.

Things would go on with business as usual until the final moments of Season 5. After Francis realizes Claire isn't pardoning him, we see her in the Oval Office. It's here when she looks directly into the camera, and strongly declares "My turn."

This was a shocking and fantastic way for the season to end, and has the potential to change the series as a whole. If Claire is now breaking the fourth wall regularly, does that mean Francis no longer will? Is it quite literally her turn, meaning that Kevin Spacey won't be delivering his asides to the audience? We'll just have to wait and see. Here's to another year of anxiously anticipating a new season. This time with even more cliffhangers.

Despite being only a few years old, the DC Extended Universe has already gone through a ton of ups and downs. All three films have been met with icy critical receptions, which makes the upcoming release of Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman extremely important for the DCEU as a whole. Luckily critics seem very pleased with early screeners, so the shared universe may end up with its first critical success. Wonder Woman certainly seems like a unique installment in the genre, and now co-star Robin Wright has spoken to the film's message.

Robin Wright recently spoke about her role as General Antiope in Wonder Woman, where she was asked about the film itself. Wright eventually revealed what she thinks the upcoming superhero movie is all about, and why it'll be a project that can be enjoyed across generations. She said,

And the message of this movie is not just female empowerment. It's about love and justice. That's what the film is about. And what a great message to spread to our little ones.

While speaking with Variety, Robin Wright revealed how both children and adults will likely be in attendance when Wonder Woman hits theaters, and therefore how the message shown to younger generations should be purposeful. With so much division and chaos in the world, Wright believes that the message of love and justice are core values that will send a positive message to kids, while also delivering the first female superhero movie.

Robin Wright will play one of the many powerful female characters in Wonder Woman. She's the DCEU's General Antiope, Wonder Woman's Aunt and a commander of the Amazonian army in Themyscira. She's been described as the most powerful warrior of the group, although smart money says Diana will take that title by the time the film ends.

And with Wonder Woman possibly becoming the DCEU's first critical success, it should be interesting to see how the various Amazonian characters factor into the franchise moving forward. This type of positive critical attention might make characters like Robin Wright's Aniope much more popular, and therefore relevant as the DCEU continues to grow.

Zack Snyder's Justice League trailer featured an army of Amazons fighting off Darkseid's parademons, although that scene is most likely a flashback of his past attempts at destroying Earth. Robin Wright hasn't been confirmed as a character in the highly anticipated team up movie, but perhaps Geoff Johns and the folks over at DC are sitting on a few more secrets before the film finally hits theaters. After all, we've got quite a few more months to wait.

Even though there’s been talk of it damn near since the original was released, it took until now for Blade Runner 2 to get rolling right along. It will supposedly begin filming sometime this year, it’s got a new star, it’s in the hands of a new director, Harrison Ford will reprise his role as Rick Deckard, and fans will finally get a definitive answer to the is-he-or-isn’t-he-a-replicant question that has been hotly debated for more than 30 years. And now one more piece of the puzzle has been found as Robin Wright has nabbed one of three new key female roles.

Sure, she’s winning all kinds of acclaim for her role on Netflix’s political drama House of Cards, but Robin Wright will always be Princess Buttercup to many of us. We may soon know her as something else, however, as Variety reports that she will appear alongside of Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling in Blade Runner 2. Sony has reportedly had their eye on Wright for the role for some time, and though her House of Cards shooting schedule complicated matters, it appears they have been able to work around those issues.

There aren’t presently any additional details about who Robin Wright will play in Blade Runner 2, in fact, the entire thing is, understandably, being kept under wraps. Part of the report, however, indicates that her role is one of three new female parts that will figure prominently in the plot of the long awaited, long-in-the-works, hotly debated science fiction sequel. We’re curious to see if she winds up playing a human or a replicant. Whoever or whatever she plays, one thing is certain, she’ll kill it, as she’s an incredibly talented actress who doesn’t get nearly as much credit as she should.

Over the years, there has been a great deal of chatter about Blade Runner 2, but for all the talk, it never really got moving until fairly recently. What little we know of the story is that it picks up several decades after the end of Ridley Scott’s 198 Blade Runner, which was itself set in the dystopian Los Angeles of 2019—we’re getting close.

Sicario and Prisoners helmer Denis Villenueve will take over the Blade Runner 2 directing duties for Ridley Scott, who is plenty busy gearing up to return to another of his beloved sci-fi properties with Alien: Covenant. But don’t worry, Sir Ridley will still produce, and Hampton Fancher, who co-wrote the original, collaborated with Scott on the story and co-wrote the script with Michael Green.

One of the most pervasive rumors about Blade Runner 2 has been that most of the action will revolve around Ryan Gosling's as-yet-unidentified character, and that, though Harrison Ford will show up as Rick Deckard eventually, it might not be until as late as the final act. We’re excited to see how Robin Wright fits into Blade Runner 2, not to mention Wonder Woman next year.

Blade Runner 2 is slated to open January 12, 2018.

If you’re in the mood for a classic adventure full of love, laughs, and medievel action, then there really isn’t a better option than The Princess Bride. Over the last three decades, Rob Reiner’s classic fantasy tale has endeared audiences of all ages with its balance of whimsical comedy and action. However, what if The Princess Bride fell into the hands of a different director, one who decided to play the action and drama completely straight? As it turns out: it would have been pretty cool. Check it the fan made trailer below to see the classic adventure filtered through a modern, dark lens.

The updated trailer takes all of the humorous charm and wit of The Princess Bride and completely jettisons it. However, in its place the creator of the modern trailer has injected new levels of tension and drama previously unseen in the Rob Reiner classic. All of the iconic imagery remains intact, from the six-fingered man, Robin Wright's Princess Buttercup, to the iconic battle of wits, to the myriad sword fights. Rather than approaching these events with a whimsical, slightly satirical approach, the trailer plays them completely straight. We have to admit: the end result is a trailer that absolutely oozes with epic moments and a totally badass aura.

One of the most noteworthy aspects of the fan-made trailer is the fact that it completely disregards the idea that The Princess Bride is a story a grandfather tells his son. By contrast, the original marketing for this movie aggressively embraced that fact in order to allow the film to stand apart. Although it’s not the Princess Bride that we all know and love, it’s definitely an interesting take on the subject matter. It may be a family friendly movie, but the video showcases just how much dark material Rob Reiner was actually able to pack into the classic adventure. Considering the contemporary need to make everything dark and gritty, something gives us the feeling that if Hollywood ever decides to reboot The Princess Bride – don’t you even dare, Hollywood – that they could look to this trailer for inspiration.

All of you fans of The Princess Bride out there should give the video above a look. It maintains all of the things that make the original film so classic, while putting a new, modern twist on the affair. It's a great piece of art, but as long as Hollywood doesn't get any ideas and decide to remake The Princess Bride then we will be happy.

As Warner Bros. and DC gear up to deliver an expansive, interconnected universe based on their cache of comic book characters, there’s been a lot of talk about the upcoming Wonder Woman. The character will first pop up next year in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, played by Gal Gadot, but she’ll get her own solo movie in 2017. There were reports that Nicole Kidman was going to join the cast, but that’s not going to happen, and now we know why.

This would have been Kidman’s second time in an adaptation of a DC property, as she appeared opposite Val Kilmer in 1995’s Batman Forever. Justin Kroll of Variety took to Twitter to reveal that due to scheduling conflicts, the Australian actress will not be able to join the party. However, another fantastic actress, Robin Wright, could take her place.

We don’t know a ton about the plot of Wonder Woman, or which characters from the comics will appear, but the rumor going around was that Kidman was up for the part of Hippolyta. In the comics, she is the queen of the Amazons and the mother of Wonder Woman.

It’s unclear right now whether Robin Wright will actually take Nicole Kidman’s place or if the Patty Jenkins-directed movie will find someone else to fill the now open slot. It appears that Wright had already signed on to do the movie before Kidman was being courted, so the nature of her role is not known at this time. From these messages, it sounds like Wright and Kidman were going to play different characters, but now that Kidman is off the table, Wright could step into whatever that role was.

We’ll have to wait and see how all of this develops, but it will be interesting to watch, and it’s hard to go wrong casting Robin Wright.

Though it’s still a ways off in the distance, a lot of people are excited for Wonder Woman, which will mark the first big time superhero movie fronted by a female character. Not to mention that she’s one of the oldest, most popular comic book characters of all time.

Writer/director Ari Folman made an incredible splash in the film world when he directed 2008's Waltz With Bashir, but has been away ever since. Finally, however, he's finally back and ready to debut his latest movie, The Congress, to the crowds of Southern France in the Cannes Film Festival. And watching the first trailer, seen above via The Film Stage, we should be in for a really cool-looking, special treat.

The beginning of the spot isn't great and mostly just plain exposition (particularly everything that Harvel Keitel says), but once Danny Huston's character shows up and the sci-fi element is introduced it takes off like a rocket. Loosely based on the novel The Futurological Congress by Stanislaw Lem, the film looks like an awesome, meta inside-look at Hollywood and identity.

In the film Robin Wright stars as a fictional version of herself. Instead of being a successful working actress as she is today, she is instead aging and out of work.She gets an interesting opportunity, however, when she is offered the chance to donate everything about herself to be copied and used forever. The people of France are lucky not only that the film will premiere at Cannes but that it's also confirmed to be released over there on July 3rd. It doesn't appear to have a release date anywhere else yet. Expect to hear some buzz later this month when The Congress makes its debut.

Earlier today we learned that Stellan Skarsgard was in talks with David Fincher to play Martin Vanger in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, a good role but one that, without spoiling anything, isn't that relevant as the three-part book series goes on. There are only a handful of characters who play major roles in all three of the Stieg Larsson books, and now one of the best ones, Erika Berger, seems to have finally been cast.

According to Deadline, Robin Wright is on board to play Erika Berger, the no-nonsense editor of the magazine Millennium who is also the occasional lover of the magazine's star reporter, Mikael Blomkvist (the lead character of the series, to be played by Daniel Craig). In the books Berger is described as a tough woman who's also incredibly attractive and capable of carrying on a relationship with both her husband and Blomkvist, all while shepherding one of Sweden's best magazines. She's pretty much a superhuman character, and there aren't many actresses other than Wright who would be capable of the part.

The trickiest and most important character in the series, Lisbeth Salander, has yet to be cast, but with Craig, Skarsgard and Wright in place, Fincher is building up a solid supporting cast to back up the young actress he chooses, who I'm hoping will be either a total newcomer or Katie Jarvis. Either way, with this many supporting players jumping on board, it's only a matter of time before we have our Lisbeth at last, and this incredibly fun guessing came has to come to an end.

There she embarks on a bittersweet journey of self-discovery and meets Keanu Reeves playing… well it’s Keanu Reeves so whatever they call him it’ll probably just be Keanu Reeves. Here’s the really weird thing: Alan Arkin is her husband. That’s right, ancient Alan Arkin is playing Buttercup’s husband, even though he’s 32 years her senior.
