For a generation of moviegoers, Ryan Reynolds is Deadpool – the profane, violent and admittedly, lovable mercenary who’s now a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s been a couple of years since audiences have seen the Merc with a Mouth on the big screen, as he last appeared in the box office hit Deadpool & Wolverine in 2024. Many have been itching to know what lies ahead for the red-and-black clad character. Reynolds made some comments about that earlier this year but is now backtracking in a way that I’m actually fine with.

Reynolds teased his future plans for the character this past spring during an interview, saying that he had “some stuff kind of written.” However, he notably said he didn’t have plans to make another solo film involving Wade Wilson. Furthermore, the Canadian star asserted that Wilson would work better as a “supporting character” and that “He’s a guy who is great in a group.” These comments surely came as a surprise to fans, especially considering how successful DP’s film series has been.

It seems Reynolds may be changing course a bit when it comes to the direction of his MCU character. The A-lister recently appeared at Fanatics Fest, where he discussed Wade Wilson’s future, and he dropped an interesting bit of information. As seen in an Instagram video, Reynolds seemingly confirms that another installment in the Deadpool franchise is on the way:

Per Reynolds’ sentiments, it sounds like he has unfinished business, and I’m glad to hear it. I honestly don’t doubt his prior assertion that Wade can work as a member of an ensemble, which is why I wouldn’t mind seeing him in Avengers: Doomsday (which just dropped a trailer) or Secret Wars. Still, the character does have his own specific appeal as a lead in his own set of movies, which get a lot of R-rated leeway that other MCU installments don’t get. So, on that note, bring on more Wilson-led flicks!

Still, it would be great to see Wade rub shoulders with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and other major MCU players at some point. It’s been rumored that Deadpool and Wolverine will return in Doomsday, but that’s far from confirmed. Ryan Reynolds also shared other comments about Wade’s future months ago, and they don’t inspire confidence that he’ll be in either of the upcoming Avengers movies. Despite that, wilder things have happened in this franchise, so it would be unwise to rule out the possibility altogether.

It remains to be seen whether Reynolds’ latest comments will prove to be correct, but it’s encouraging to hear that he still has interest in reprising Wade. Also, if another solo film is greenlit, I hope Reynolds commits to not rushing out the film and letting it marinate as needed.

Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh are teaming up for a movie that flips the concept of classic Cold War films and throws in a bit of Top Gun and Misery. While the Soviets still largely seem to be the villain in Mayday, an American behind enemy lines finds a friend in an Uncle Sam-loving Russian.

As if I needed another reason to renew my Apple TV subscription, Branagh and Reynolds had me cackling with this trailer that shows an American-loving ex-KGB citizen attempting to get a downed pilot back to the United States. When this movie was first announced, I wasn't sure how to feel about it, but I can firmly say after seeing the trailer I'm on board.

I'm Already Loving The Chemistry Between Kenneth Branagh And Ryan Reynolds

Kenneth Branagh is not someone I regularly associate with comedy, and you won't find one listed amongst his best movies. That said, I totally vibe with Ryan Reynolds' Troy playing the straight man to the America-obsessed Nikolai, whose passion for describing things like McDonald's had me cackling even in this short trailer.

It also seems like Mayday features a good deal of action, which I'm also on board with. Overall, it feels like a cool take on the usual spy thriller genre, and putting someone with the star power of Ryan Reynolds as the star has me optimistic this movie will get a lot of attention. Here's hoping the whole movie is as entertaining as the trailer.

When Does Mayday Come Out?

Fortunately, we don't have to wait long for Mayday to hit the upcoming 2026 movie releases. The film hits Apple TV+ on September 4th, and while I'm happy to see it sooner rather than later, I fear it missed a big opportunity. They could've gone full tilt with the Cold War theme, and timed it to the anniversary of the destruction of the Berlin Wall in November!

In any case, it'll be a good appetizer for another Ryan Reynolds appearance potentially on the way. There's been a lot of speculation that he'll reprise his role as Deadpool in Avengers: Doomsday, though that is still unconfirmed at the moment. The good news is if that doesn't happen, at least we'll get to see him kick some butt in Mayday, which hails from the same producers of Deadpool & Wolverine. It's not quite the Marvel fun folks may be used to, but I can see the similarities in the action.

As mentioned, make sure that your Apple TV subscription is up to date for the upcoming release of Mayday on September 4th. Honestly, I think it's a good one to have on a monthly basis anyway, as I find myself watching more and more quality shows and movies on the platform.

After all that’s happened between Taylor Swift and Blake Lively — including the alleged text threats during Lively’s legal battle and their exchanges becoming like a “mass corporate email sent to 200 employees” — it was really not a shock that the Gossip Girl star and Ryan Reynolds didn’t receive invitations to the celebrity wedding of the year. That’s a pretty harsh snub, though, especially considering Swift is the godmother to all four of Lively and Reynolds’ kiddos. It turns out, though, that they weren’t the only godchildren left off the guest list.

With a reported 1,000 people invited to see Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce get “JUST&T MARRIED” at Madison Square Garden on July 3, it’s hard to believe anyone close to The Life of a Showgirl artist would have gotten left behind — especially a friend like Jaime King who was close enough to Swift to make her the godmother to her son Leo.

However, Jaime King’s publicist Jane Owen downplayed any rumors of bad blood following news that the actress and her 10-year-old son had been left off the list. She told Page Six:

Taylor Swift is also the godmother to Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ four children — James, 11, Inez, 9, Betty, 6, and Olin, 3 — and wedding slight aside, there have been lots of questions about what that means now that Swift and Lively’s friendship is (seemingly) over. There were even rumors that Swift was considering formally removing herself as the children’s godmother.

Sources for Naughty But Nice podcaster Rob Shuter report that Taylor Swift’s relationship with the Reynolds children has allegedly faded after her drama with their parents. They said:

Taylor Swift still has love for the little ones, another source said, but her proximity to them is dependent on her relationship with Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds — who Travis Kelce allegedly had issues with even before their wives’ legal drama — and being left off of the wedding guest list is reportedly something they will “never forgive” Swift for.

It’s a shame when children get mixed up in their parents’ drama, but at least all seems friendly enough between Taylor Swift and Jaime King.

With Avengers: Doomsday hitting the 2026 movie release schedule later this year, there’s actually been a lot of Deadpool and Wolverine talk in recent months. This was particularly true after Ryan Reynolds posted an Avengers flag on social, prompting people to wonder whether he and Hugh Jackman might be due for an onscreen reunion. Will Deadpool and Wolverine be a part of the gang? It’s unclear, but the two do clearly want to continue the work down the line, and one joke has very much cemented this.

Hugh Jackman’s been going on record lately to discuss potentially continuing to play Logan for Marvel. He said during an interview that he’s only “57” and plans to keep “doing it until I’m 90,” which MCU fans should know is a reference from the 2024 film Deadpool & Wolverine. His full comments were all pretty funny, but it’s even funnier knowing this is a joke neither Jackman nor his pal Reynolds will let go.

In fact, in an interview with The Wrap, the two men were asked about working together in the future, and Reynolds spoke about wanting to return to the big screen together in an ensemble (which leads me to look again at Doomsday and Secret Wars on the upcoming Marvel movies schedule). While he said he’d “love to do it” again with Hugh Jackman, the it in question being filming the characters, it was Jackman who confirmed the Wolverine joke the two just can’t let go. He snarkily noted:

That was a couple of years ago. It’s unclear if Reynolds is still trolling his pal with this specific Deadpool & Wolverine reference via phone, but this wasn’t the only time the actor brought the joke up in a very public manner, also sharing this special message on Hugh Jackman's birthday:

So, it’s clear this has become a bit of a running thing for both of them that has extended nearly as long as their legendary faux feud.

Plus, from his comments and previous posts, it’s also clear Hugh Jackman is still using this bit in his day-to-day life, and he has also shown no signs of quitting on the famous character anytime soon. That is, at least, in this post Logan era. So, all I guess there is that is left to say is we’ll be sure to keep you updated when Disney invariably announces Logan 2058, which, in case you’re bad at math, is the literal year Jackman will turn 90.

Awards Season offers fans many gifts, from memorable acceptance speeches to viral moments like Will Smith slapping Chris Rock. Back at the 2017 Golden Globes, Ryan Reynolds and Andrew Garfield went viral for kissing after the Best Actor in a Comedy category was announced, as Ryan Gosling marched to the stage to accept his trophy on behalf of La La Land. And the star of the Deadpool franchise (streaming with a Disney+ subscription) recently shared a clip of him explaining the story behind that memorable moment.

As it stands, Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s court battle seems to have been settled. It was recently reported, however, that Lively (38) was dealing with a real estate matter involving husband Ryan Reynolds (49). The couple faced several legal filings from contractors and subcontractors working on their New York-based construction project. Said workers claimed they hadn’t been paid and, overall, the costs reportedly amounted to over $2 million. Now, the bills have been covered, but there’s allegedly still an issue for the pair.

Reynolds and Lively purchased the compound in upstate New York back in 2018, and their goal has reportedly been to build a personal retreat of sorts on the 110-acre piece of land. With all of their contractors now apparently paid, it would seem – from the outside looking in – that the couple would be able to proceed accordingly. Insiders who spoke to Rob Shuter for his Naughty or Nice substack, however, allege that the finance-based controversy is making other builders leery of working with them. One source said:

If this report is to be believed, word of Lively and Reynolds’ dispute with the contractors has spread across the construction industry. Based on supposed details shared by a second insider, the notion of the situation being heavily discussed amongst workers isn’t far-fetched. They laid out their logic behind that claim:

Work on Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ construction project reportedly stopped somewhere between December 2025 and January 2026. It was sometime after that five different contractors filed mechanic's liens in reference to the property. The plaintiffs accused the parents of four of not paying for a variety of services and materials, including structural steel fabrication for the main house and accessory buildings and rough carpentry as well as custom copper roofing and drainage system.

As of this writing, neither representatives nor lawyers for Reynolds and Lively have yet to publicly acknowledge the situation or the distribution of the $2 million in wages. Those payments come on the heels of the couple allegedly spending a lot of money on legal matters for Lively’s case. During that case, Lively alleged that she’d lost millions and, after she and Justin Baldoni reached their initial settlement, she pursued damages and legal fees. Lively was eventually awarded the attorney’s fees but not the damages.

It’s been reported that, at this point, the Another Simple Favor star is looking to move past the situation and continue with her career. Sources have alleged that Lively wants to make some major career moves, and she’s currently set to star in the Lionsgate film The Survival List. Simultaneously, industry veterans have also been weighing in on career prospects for Lively (and Baldoni) post-settlement.

More immediately, though, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds seemingly still have to contend with the completion of their construction plans. While the couple has reportedly spent a lot of money as of late, another insider claims “they can absolutely afford to finish the house.” It’s still reportedly possible that the work will be done but, per a source, prospective employees have adopted a specific mantra: “cash up front, then we’ll talk.”

If the reports are true, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce will be tying the knot very soon, and word on the street is that it could involve a huge celebration at Madison Square Garden. However, while that space likely allows them to have a huge guest list, it’s been alleged that Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are not on it. So, with that in mind, insiders made claims about what the actors will be doing that day instead of going to the wedding.

Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni settled their legal issues, and it’s been alleged that the actress attending the pop star’s wedding isn’t impossible. However, it would seem she and Ryan Reynolds did not get an invite and won't be there. To that point, an insider spoke to Rob Shuter about this and what the couple will be up to instead, alleging:

According to this insider, on the day Swift and Kelce get married, Lively and Reynolds will make sure they’re publicly seen out and about. They’ll make it clear that they’re not hiding and they’re moving forward. Reiterating that point, a source claimed:

The world will surely be talking about this wedding too. After Swift and Kelce got engaged last summer, rumors have been flying left and right about their nuptials. We still don’t have confirmed details about the big day; however, it’s widely believed it will take place on July 3, with the most recent rumors saying it will happen at Madison Square Garden.

As for what Lively and Reynolds will do that day, sources claim they’ll make sure they do something that could make headlines. Allegedly, they’re doing this not to compete with the wedding, but rather to share the following message:

For quite some time now, Lively’s seemingly estranged friendship with Swift has been making headlines. That was happening amid the actress’s legal battle over It Ends With Us, and the singer’s name was brought up during that. Now, it seems like the A Simple Favor star will not be at the wedding of the “Shake It Off” singer, and her being left out of the MSG celebration has been viewed poorly.

According to the insider, The Age of Adaline star knows all that, and she apparently wants the world to know that she and Ryan Reynolds are doing just fine:

Ryan Reynolds has had an impressive Hollywood career from his early studio comedy days to his taking the world by storm as Deadpool. It goes without saying that Reynolds has been lucky to be relevant and a box office draw after all these years. The actor also is very aware of just how lucky he is, as he recently opened up about turning 40 against the backdrop of show business as well as how unpredictable continued success can be.

A producer on the emotional documentary, John Candy: I Like Me, Reynolds recently spoke to Deadline alongside his collaborators and talked about making the film. The team, which includes director Colin Hanks and producer Ryan Reynolds, got philosophical about their own Hollywood careers when asked what John Candy’s career would have looked like if he got to live out his 40s. Reynolds especially had an interesting take on the matter, pointing out that show business has its way of cycling through stars. He said:

This is a surprising perspective to have, especially considering Reynolds' name has not come down from that marquees and doesn’t seem to be anytime soon. Aside from being a major star, he's also a family man and, when he's not working, he can be seen spending time with his wife, Blake Lively, and the four children they share together. His external business ventures have also seemingly taken priority over the years as well as his producing endeavors. This doesn’t sound exactly like a slowing down, more like a refocusing, which makes sense as the industry changes.

However, all of this doesn’t mean Ryan Reynolds' acting career is over. He currently has various acting-related projects in various stages of development. He is indeed a lucky guy, and I like that he seemingly he knows it. So, even if his priorities are shifting, his love of being a movie star is ever present. He’s an interesting Hollywood figure, with a career that has shifted over time, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it evolves as he looks towards his 50s.

Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds’ faux feud-slash-bromance remains one of Hollywood’s most reliable bits, and apparently, it is now heading out onto the water. After Deadpool & Wolverine turned their long-running public friendship into a box-office hit, the two stars are re-teaming for a very different kind of project coming to the streaming schedule for folks with a Disney+ subscription.

Jackman shared the update on Instagram (see below), posting photos of himself with the BONDS Flying Roos, the Australian SailGP team that the two actors co-own. The post teases a behind-the-scenes series with Jackman joking that one of them is “sure to end up in the water.” Disney+ has also announced the untitled docuseries, which will follow the Flying Roos through a global SailGP season.

Hugh Jackman’s caption is exactly the kind of fun tease that makes me sit up. Jackman and Reynolds learning high-speed sailing sounds like the spiritual cousin of the hit FX series Welcome to Wrexham, except instead of soccer heartbreak in Wales, we’re getting expensive boats, Australian pride and the very real possibility of Ryan Reynolds bobbing in the water.

According to Deadline, the untitled docuseries will follow the BONDS Flying Roos as Australia’s fastest sailors travel the globe to compete against elite rivals. The team is led on the water by driver and CEO Tom Slingsby, who is an Olympic gold medalist, America’s Cup winner and a three-time SailGP champion.

The series also has a real sports hook. SailGP is a stadium-style championship featuring identical 50-foot catamarans racing close to shore at speeds of up to 100 km/h, which sounds less like a relaxing day on the water and more like Formula 1 on the high seas.

The project will come from Reynolds’ Maximum Effort and Eureka Productions in partnership with SailGP and the BONDS Flying Roos. Brent Hodge is serving as director and showrunner, while Rob Mac, Reynolds’ Welcome to Wrexham partner and executive producer, will also executive produce through More Better Productions. The series will stream on Disney+ internationally and on Disney+ and in the U.S. for viewers with a Hulu subscription.

That Welcome to Wrexham connection, the series is now in its fifth season, is probably the most interesting piece here. Reynolds has already shown he knows how to turn a sports ownership story into something accessible, funny and genuinely emotional. That show works because it is not just about celebrity owners, but focuses on community, pressure, history and people who care deeply about the sport.

This new sailing series has a chance to do something similar, especially with Jackman involved. He brings the Australian connection, Reynolds brings the documentary-sports-business track record, and together they bring the exact level of affectionate nonsense that makes their partnership weirdly durable.

Jackman and Reynolds joked in a joint statement that this is their first collaboration since Deadpool & Wolverine and that they expect “action, comedy, heart” with “a lot more water.” They also said they hope there are pirates in SailGP, because of course they did.

There is no Disney+ premiere date yet, but I’m already in. Give me elite athletes, fast boats, actual stakes and Jackman and Reynolds trying not to look completely out of their depth. And yes, I absolutely want to know which one ends up in the water first.

But the comedian and host had months to prepare for his final show, with celebs like Ryan Reynolds attended in the audience. And a new report claims to know why his wife Blake Lively was noticeably missing from the show's taping.

While fans have been wondering where Colbert stands with the network post-cancellation, another question fans are asking is why the Deadpool star attended alone, rather than both Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds going as a pair. Rumors are swirling, and according to scooper Rob Shuter, the Gossip Girl star would have totally been allowed to attend the show. The report reads:

While the It Ends With Us stars finally reached a settlement, the aftershocks of the drama are still being felt. According to the report, this is a big reason why the Green Lantern actress stayed home on Colbert's last taping, the same story alleges:

It Ends With Us (which is streaming with a Netflix subscription) is most closely associated with the legal fight between its stars, rather than the deeper message of the book to screen adaptation. Lively and Baldoni reached a resolution and put out a joint statement, but the discourse hasn't stopped online. And per this report, that's why Ryan Reynolds went solo to The Late Show.

May 21 marked the end of an era. After hosting The Late Show for 11 years, Stephen Colbert officially signed off as his program came to an end on the 2026 TV schedule. CBS canceled the late-night talk show last year, and it caused quite a stir in Hollywood and around the world, with many celebrities and fellow late-night talk show hosts showing their support for Colbert. That support has continued over the months, and following the finale, Samuel L. Jackson, Ryan Reynolds, and many more sent some sweet shoutouts.

Colbert went above and beyond for the final episodes of The Late Show, bringing on special guests and doing special segments. Thursday’s finale, which drew The Late Show’s biggest audience in 10 years, according to The New York Times, had appearances from some famous friends such as Jon Stewart and Bryan Cranston, and the host's fitting final guest was Paul McCartney. It was emotional and very sweet. And those feelings didn’t stop when the lights got turned off, as many celebrities took to social media to send messages to the beloved host:

All of these messages, plus many others, and the outpouring of love and support that Colbert has received in these last several months, show how much he and The Late Show matter. It’s clear that everyone has had a great time on the late-night talk show, and while many are still debating what truly led to the show’s cancellation, it’s obvious that a ton of people did not want it to happen.

In addition to the sweet messages, some late-night shows, such as Jimmy Kimmel Live!, aired reruns for part of the week out of respect.

That being said, not everyone has been respectful, as President Trump’s post about the final show is as mean-spirited as you’d think. However, overall, the support for Colbert and his program has been overwhelmingly positive.

Earlier this month, Colbert revealed what he’s doing the day afterThe Late Show ends, sharing that his brother was actually getting married in D.C., and it’s much more important than what’s going on with the show. Colbert’s been busy with the final episodes of The Late Show, but he still has his priorities straight when it comes to his family.

With The Late Show’s cancellation, the future of late-night television is in question. Following Jimmy Kimmel Live’s brief suspension last year and the cancellation of The Late Show, it's unclear what could happen next. However, thankfully, Colbert was able to go out with a bang and surrounded by a whole bunch of folks who adore him and his work. Those who missed the finale of The Late Show can stream it now with a Paramount+ subscription.

For over a year, Blake Lively was locked in a legal battle with Justin Baldoni, which stemmed from their time working on the 2024 film It Ends with Us. Lively leveled various allegations against Baldoni, accusing him of sexual harassment and launching a smear campaign against her. Baldoni also countersued Lively for defamation and extortion among other alleged offenses. Lively and Baldoni settled that case weeks ago but, now, it seems Lively – along with husband Ryan Reynods – is now embroiled in a real estate issue.

This latest situation involves the compound Lively and Reynolds own in upstate New York. It was in 2018 that the celebrity couple purchased the 110-acre estate and subsequently commissioned a major construction project that apparently halted around December 2025 or January 2026. According to Daily Mail, though, the two are now facing five separate legal filings from contractors and subcontractors, who’ve specifically filed mechanic's liens against their property.

Per legal documents, those supposedly unpaid wages amount to $2,108,856.63. It would appear that the biggest claim amongst these filings comes from FlowCon Inc., which was doing business under the moniker of Flower Construction. The company reportedly filed a $1,356,157.54 lien after being tapped to complete services like electrical work, plumbing, drywall, masonry, millwork, painting, waterproofing and HVAC systems.

The claims from the other contractors apparently cover a swath of services that supposedly haven’t been paid for. Said tasks include rough carpentry and trim installation as well as structural steel fabrication for the main house and accessory buildings and custom copper roofing and drainage systems. It’s worth noting that the records included no satisfactions, releases or lien discharge filings. Representatives for the contractors have also not spoken out as of this writing, and reps for Lively and Reynolds haven’t either.

At present, it’s unclear whether Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds will actually end up paying the $2.1 million debt they’ve been accused of owing. Should that come to pass, it would mark yet another large sum of money they’ve had to spend due to a legal matter. Throughout the Lively/Baldoni case, there were reports regarding the amount of time and money both of the actors were putting in their skirmish. Lively herself later claimed she’d lost over $100 million as a result of the case.

Lively’s team also requested damages from Baldoni’s camp in the aftermath of the settlement, citing California state law as part of their argument. Bryan Freedman, Baldoni’s lawyer, refuted the argument, saying that the actress and her counsel had “their own interpretation of what they think is the law.” Ultimately, Baldoni saw a legal victory when a judge denied Lively’s attempt to file additional briefs and seek damages in the process.

When it comes to Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ property, photos obtained by Daily Mail also show that considerable work still needs to be done on the project. Time will tell how this situation ultimately plays out.

The hit shows Welcome To Wrexham and Formula 1: Drive to Survive, which are both on the 2026 TV schedule, have the same problem for me. It's not that I’m an American who doesn't appreciate European sports. I love following both English football and Formula 1. I love that they are on in the morning (for the most part) where I live, and I can wake up on a lazy weekend morning and watch while enjoying my coffee. Herein lies the problem.

I’m A Fan Of Wrexham A.F.C. And F1

Over the past four seasons on Welcome to Wrexham, we’ve seen the underdog team owned by big Hollywood stars Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds pull off one remarkable feat after another, rising three divisions in three seasons. After watching the first season of Welcome to Wrexham with my Prime subscription (the latest season starts on May 15th), I’ve followed the team during each of the seasons. I watched matches when I could, though watching the lower English leagues in the US can be tricky. I always at least checked the final scores of their games and read the recaps.

The same goes for F1. I’ve been watching F1 every week for almost two decades now, once cable and streaming made it easy to watch every race (plus the qualifying and the practice sessions). I’d never been a big motorsports fan before that. I had a passive interest in NASCAR and Indy racing stateside, but F1 really grabbed my attention and has held it ever since. I look forward to the start of each season, and I’m even planning to catch the Monaco Grand Prix at my local IMAX. F1 is airing select races at IMAX theaters this season, as the league continues to try to grow its fanbase in America.

The Seasons Are On Big Spoiler For The Shows

This all means I really can’t get into the shows Welcome to Wrexham or Drive to Survive. Because the shows are recaps of seasons I’ve followed pretty closely, there is an inherent spoiler for both. I know what is going to happen before it happens on the show. The shows are basically ruined for me. The drama that builds in Wrexham as they strive for another promotion is exciting, don’t get me wrong, but I know the result. There are no cliffhangers or a release of emotion when the team succeeds or fails, at least when I see it in the show. I went through all that already.

There is a “me” problem. I think both shows are really well-produced and dramatic. I fully understand the appeal both have for fans. You get that inside look at the team in Wrexham’s case, and the championship season in F1’s case. Especially in the case of F1, the drama behind the scenes rarely stays behind the scenes if you follow the sport. Rivalries are well known, and the drama between racers and teams is on the front page, along with the race results. I mean, it’s that kind of thing that really drew me into the sport. Watching the recap of the season in Drive to Survive with my Netflix subscription isn’t as fun when I’ve been reading about it all for a year.

I hope both shows continue to produce great content, and I love that both are bringing new fans to both Wrexham and F1 (as has the Oscar-nominated movie starring Brad Pitt), but for me, I’ve been there and done that, and I’ve already moved on to the season after the one the shows are about.

Does this mean he won't appear in either of The Russo Brothers' upcoming Avengers movies? It's unclear, but this above comment is definitely discouraging. Although perhaps he's talking about a fourth Deadpool movie, rather than popping up as his signature character in other Marvel projects. Fingers crossed.

Wade Wilson has lead a trio of blockbusters, so audiences (myself included) are invested in his story. I personally think taking him out of the spotlight and making him a supporting character in future MCU movies might be a misstep. Sure, he'll crack audiences up, but I'm sure there are plenty of moviegoers that would like to see him centered in a fourth solo movie.

Of course, fans will likely take Reynolds' words and try to guess how Deadpool will be used in future Marvel projects. Is he teasing the hero finally joining the X-Men, or perhaps forming a new version of X-Force? To note, were originally plans for an X-Force movie prior to Disney acquiring 20th Century Fox and its properties.

While it's exciting that Ryan Reynolds is already cooking up ideas for Deadpool, I assume I'm not the only fan who is having mixed feelings about the character not being "centered" in any of his own projects anymore. Yes, I want to see him interact with other heroes in the MCU, but I also think Wade Wilson deserves the spotlight.

Of course, fans are wondering if Reynolds is going to appear in either Avenger: Doomsday or Secret Wars. While he hasn't been officially confirmed for either blockbuster, its multiversal story means just about anything could happen. We'll just have to wait and keep our fingers crossed that Wade Wilson appears sooner rather than later.

It’s been almost two years since the release of It Ends With Us, and for a long time now, we’ve been hearing about the ongoing legal battle between its star, Blake Lively, and its director/star, Justin Baldoni. Now, as that continues, it’s been reported that the actress is thinking about moving away from the United States. Then, one insider shared claims about how her husband, Ryan Reynolds, their kids and Wrexham are allegedly playing into this potential choice.

We’re still in the midst of the It Ends With Us legal battle, seeing as the trial is set for May 18, and recently, a judge dismissed 10 of the 13 claims Lively made. In response, the actress said she was “grateful” for the ruling, and noted that she’ll be able to present “the heart of [her] case” to a jury this spring. In a new report from The Daily Mail, it’s been alleged that due to this ongoing issue, Lively’s career is not what it once was. That’s part of the reason why she apparently wants to move, as the insider claimed:

At the moment, Lively does not have much in the works. Following the release of It Ends With Us in 2024, Another Simple Favor came out last year. Right now, she has three upcoming projects on IMDb; however, there have been very few updates about them.

Apparently, because her potential for work hasn’t been great, Lively and Reynolds are thinking about moving to the UK, as one insider claimed:

If this is why they aren’t moving yet, it would make sense. Lively and Reynolds have four children: 11-year-old James, 9-year-old Inez, 6-year-old Betty and 3-year-old Olin. Three of their four kids would be in school now, and relocating would be a very big change.

However, considering the fact that Reynolds co-owns Wrexham AFC with Rob Mac, they have deep connections to the UK, and a move there wouldn’t be random. With that in mind, this insider claimed that finding a home across the pond could be easy while also opening new doors for Lively:

As you know, if you follow Wrexham or watch Welcome to Wrexham with a Hulu subscription, Reynolds and the Mac have found great success with this football club. They are also often in the UK with the team. So, while this would be a big move if it’s a real possibility, it wouldn’t be to a place where the couple doesn’t have strong connections and work.

Of course, none of this is confirmed, and as of right now, Lively and Reynolds do live in the United States. Her trial is also coming up, so there will be more news about her and her case coming soon. Meanwhile, if we learn anything about this potential move, we’ll keep you posted.

If there’s one thing you can count on from Ryan Reynolds, it’s that he’s not going to let a birthday pass without doing something just a little unhinged, especially when the target is his longtime collaborator and Wrexham co-chairman, Rob McElhenney. This time around, Reynolds didn’t go for anything elaborate, but instead set up an A+ prank that calls back to where it all started, and it's perfect.

Reynolds took some time away from his busy 2026 movie schedule to share the prank on Instagram, posting the photo below of an updated plaque mounted above a urinal dedicated entirely to “Rob Mac.” The caption, posted alongside the image, makes it clear this is a bit of a tradition at this point, as the Reynolds previously unveiled the urinal memorial in 2022.

If this looks familiar, it should. This is a callback to 2022, when The Deadpool star first unveiled the original urinal-plaque tribute dedicated to “Robert McElhenney,” mounted in the same spot. That reveal even came with a full mock ceremony, ribbon cutting and all. This time, the concept hasn’t changed, and neither has the location, still proudly above a urinal, but the name has. Now it reads: “This urinal is dedicated to Rob Mac on his birthday, April 14.”

What’s especially funny about this one is how low-key it is compared to some of Reynolds’ past bits. This is the same guy who’s built an entire brand around elaborate, often overproduced pranks and marketing stunts, so dialing it back to something this simple feels perfect for a friend's birthday.

The updated plaque is a direct nod to Rob McElhenney’s decision to simplify his name professionally. After years of people stumbling over the pronunciation, the creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia announced he’d be going by “Rob Mac” moving forward, and he made it official last year. And while he’s joked that name changes can come off a little self-important or “douchey,” it’s clear the people in his orbit(the Free Guy actor included) are committed enough to the bit to update a very specific, very permanent bathroom plaque.

It's an appropriate birthday gift given the very specific kind of humor Reynolds and McElhenney have been refining ever since they took over Wrexham AFC in 2021. Since then, they’ve turned the club into one of the most talked-about stories in sports, thanks in part to the FX series Welcome to Wrexham (streaming with a Hulu subscription) and a string of on-field successes that have seen the team rise through the ranks.

Deadpool & Wolverine's box office performance was made all the more significant after recent MCU bombs like The Marvels. As such, it seems inevitable that Reynolds and Jackman would return to those roles sooner rather than later. But it's currently unclear when that'll happen; neither actor was included in the Avengers: Doomsday cast announcement.

The It Ends With Us discourse has gone on for well over a year now, and Lively has been embroiled in a lawsuit with Justin Baldoni and the production company behind the movie during much of this time. Lately, they’ve been seen engaging in some public PDA, and Reynolds even had a sweet post for Blake this week, and it’s all coming after some factions of the internet have been pretty vocal about the state of their relationship.

What The Internet Has Said About Ryan Reynolds And Blake Lively Lately

Deadpool & Wolverine and It Ends With Us came out around the same time, and Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively earned praise for both their movies and their red carpet looks. Things turned a bit sour for the latter movie when it seemed there had been some sort of rift between Blake Lively and her director Justin Baldoni, and things took even more of a turn after Lively dropped a lawsuit against Baldoni and Wayfarer studios.

Seemingly, none of this had much to do with Ryan Reynolds, but as more and more information has come to light, Reynolds has been tied in with some of the decisions made surrounding It Ends With Us. He famously rewrote a scene in Justin Baldoni’s movie, and was reportedly present at meetings in the Reynolds home during which Baldoni has said he was “emotionally paralyzed.” Reynolds’ name came up again related to the It Ends with Us premiere. Baldoni has said the actor tried to ban him, but Lively’s legal team has refuted these claims.

That’s the short synopsis, and stuff most people following the case know. While the dates drag on in court – most recently Lively and Baldoni failed to settle the case – some factions of the Internet have noticed Reynolds was not present when Lively attended court. The two have in the past been very supportive of one another, each others’ projects, and the stuff going on in their personal lives.

They’ve built a brand out of amusingly trolling each other for most of the duration of their marriage, and Reynolds has said they do this because fans don’t want to see celebs be lovey-dovey. They've been super cool to each other too, as happened when Lively sent Hugh Jackman and her husband a ping-pong table on Deadpool & Wolverine. But there hasn’t been much of that lately, with Reynolds skipping the Another Simple Favor red carpet and more.

In fact, there’s an entire Reddit thread dedicated to whether or not the couple is breaking up using alleged evidence that Ryan Reynolds had previously publicly distanced himself from his wife. All of this is hearsay, of course, but it’s coming after months of threads of people asking questions like “What’s Up With Ryan Reynolds being hated all of the sudden?”

Subsequently, The Two Have Spent More Time Together Publicly

A few days ago, the couple was spotted at a Wrexham match against Chelsea in Wales. She was seen holding a giant stuffie and hugging her husband at varying points, and one photographer at the match caught them in during a PDA moment.

Reynolds has been promoting Wrexham a lot lately, and Lively has been there to support him in recent days. Separately, the actor shared a post this week that seems to be a throwback with his wife, set to the Pink Floyd song “Time” (and harkening back to a time when he had more facial hair). Today, she's reshared the post, incorporating a <3 emoji.

This is a bit different from a few months ago, when the actress stepped away from the city and seemed to take a concerted step back from the limelight. The timing for all of this has been interesting, and we’ll have to wait and see if he and Lively continue to slow roll back to their days of frequent posting with and for one another in the coming months.

If someone told me years ago that 2026 would be the point when Ryan Reynolds’ Green Lantern would seemingly garner more positive social media reactions than possibly any other point in its 15 years of existence, I might have assumed that person was lacking a proper amount of oxygen. Yet, that’s precisely the kind of perspective being shared online in the past week, following the first trailer released for the upcoming DCU TV show, HBO’s Lanterns.

While I was personally intrigued by the far more adult and NSFW take on the cosmic Justice Leaguer that the promo delivered, I could easily understand that it was substantially different from what a lot of other fans were hoping to see. (Our own take on the trailer voiced concerns for the new direction.) Still, I guess I didn’t expect anything about this new project to cause audiences to suddenly look back on Martin Campbell’s 2011 with anything resembling nostalgia or respect.

Arguably the biggest complaint being shared about the new trailer is the all-around lack of the color green, or at least any bright and vibrant uses of it, particularly when it comes to the costume shown. (HBO legit trolled fans over it after negative comments started rolling in.) The example shared on X below aligns with a bunch of other comments on the matter.

Others were also quite vocal about the Lanterns trailer not winning them over, especially in light of the character's previous solo project. Here's a quick smattering of comments:

To be fair, some fans are still giving Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre props for what will likely be winning performances all-around. And given the fact that we still havent' seen all the various villains expected to appear, I'm sure the next trailer's release will inspire a bigger wave of positivity with more comic book details to obsess over. At least, assuming it doesn't also drop online out of nowhere due to a leaked version making the rounds.

But until that happens, some DC fans are happy to embrace the renewed appreciation for Reynolds' Green Lantern.

The fan whose post is seen below seems to believe that Ryan Reynolds will be pleased to see all of the revived positive commentary about his Green Lantern movie, as if he himself hasn't talked about learning screenwriting tactics from all the mistakes made by that movie's script. He's crapped on the superhero romp more than just about anyone, going so far as to as have "Ryan Reynolds" killed before that GL movie can be made for a Deadpool 2 joke.

I dunno that he's going to feel a whole lot of pride, per se, in seeing an uptick in backhanded love for a movie that he so regularly dunks on. But hey, it's his son's favorite movie, so maybe that's something to hold onto.

We all know first trailers can do wonders for a new project’s popularity, and if it’s true that there’s no bad publicity, then I guess HBO could be pleased with all of the talk that’s been pointed in Lanterns’ direction. The new show is set to debut its eight-episode first season in August on HBO and via HBO Max subscription.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce got engaged six months ago, and reports come out frequently about when the wedding will be, where it will be held and who will be there. Considering the singer’s friendship with Blake Lively, a very specific question that’s come up amid her It Ends With Us legal battle is if she and Ryan Reynolds will be there to see the singer and football player tie the knot.

While reports about Swift and Lively’s friendship being strained have been circulating for a while now, the release of their texts amid the Gossip Girl star’s legal battle with Justin Baldoni has amplified it. Commenting on that, and how the “Betty” singer reportedly feels about it, a source told Us Weekly:

A second source also spoke about how Swift and Lively have allegedly grown apart. They claimed that while they’ve texted a bit, they haven’t “had a meaningful conversation” in a while. Claiming that the pop star feels “violated by proximity,” the insider alleged:

However, British gossip columnist Rob Schuter cites multiple sources that claim the relationship was already on the rocks before all that, because Swift's fiancé, Travis Kelce, allegedly doesn’t care for Ryan Reynolds. All the sources referenced in the piece are unnamed, and thus grains of salt must be liberally supplied. But if true, it sounds like hanging out with Ryan Reynolds in private isn’t necessarily that different from the way his fans see him. While some might see that as fun, Travis Kelce seemingly doesn’t care for it, as he finds the Deadpool star to be inauthentic when they hang out together. A second source said…

It seems, if these claims are accurate, that Travis Kelce never felt he was seeing the “real” Ryan Reynolds, and thus never felt too comfortable around the actor. One assumes that, considering how close Blake Lively and Taylor Swift were, the two men spent a fair amount of time together. But they have allegedly never gotten close themselves.

According to the claims, Kelce did voice his issues with Taylor. This led to the foursome spending less time together, even before there were some much more public reasons for the two women to stop talking. According to another unnamed source…

Of course, now there are a lot of questions regarding the Lively/Swift relationship. Swift’s name has been brought up as part of the legal battle that has stemmed from Lively filing a lawsuit for harassment against Justin Baldoni from their time working on It Ends With Us together. There are claims that the friendship between the two celebrity women is, at best, strained, as Swift is reportedly unhappy about being drawn into the drama.

Maybe Travis Kelce won’t need to worry about hanging out with Ryan Reynolds much anymore after everything that’s happened. Even if he does, I’m sure the two grown men will be just fine together, even if they don’t ever become close friends.

Shortly after its release in the summer of 2024, drama surrounding It Ends With Us began to dominate the news cycle. While the book to screen adaptation did well in theaters, the title is now largely associated with ongoing legal drama between director Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. Newly unearthed audio reveals that Scarlett Johansson was name dropped in the mist of the drama... and surprisingly it wasn't related to her previous relationship with Reynolds.

Blake Lively's lawsuit against Wayfarer Studios started an epic legal saga that's still playing out to this day. Baldoni responded with a defamation case, and both of their legal teams have been hard at work. In audio from the case (via Us Weekly), Wayfarer founder Steve Sarowitz spoke to filmmaker Claire Ayoub about ScarJo's directorial debut Eleanor the Great. Sarowitz joked about her being an "unknown", saying:

Jokes aside, the Wayfarer boss did take his time to compliment Johansson's work on Eleanor the Great. He compared her to working with Lively on It Ends With Us (which is streaming with a Netflix subscription). As he put it:

It Ends With Us is streaming now on Netflix, and the legal battle will seemingly continue for the foreseeable future. As for Blake Lively, she's attached to a handful upcoming projects.

Deadpool & Wolverine broke box office records, but Ryan Reynolds has been publicly clear that he doesn’t want to rush Deadpool 4. The Just Friends star has stressed that the next chapter for the mouthiest antihero needs the right idea and reason to exist before returning in an upcoming Marvel movie. On paper, that sounds like a careful, artist-first approach. But behind the scenes, the IF actor may not have as much breathing room as it appears.

According to a recent deep-dive from Puck, Reynolds’ professional focus is allegedly being quietly pulled in multiple directions, even as studios would love nothing more than to get him back into red spandex as soon as possible. Sources say Reynolds is genuinely trying to balance family priorities and long-term career planning. Yet, reports suggest that Deadpool remains his most straightforward path back to the version of himself audiences love most.

The tension comes from Reynolds’ very public involvement in the legal and PR battle surrounding his wife, Blake Lively, and her sexual harassment complaint against It Ends With Us director Justin Baldoni. Ever since Taylor Swift was first mentioned in Justin Baldoni’s countersuit against Blake Lively (which has since been thrown out), the singer’s team has denied that she was involved with the movie in any capacity other than licensing a song for its use. According to an alleged insider for The Sun, Travis Kelce was concerned for his now-fiancée, and he apparently wasn’t shy about sharing his opinion about Lively amidst the drama. The source said:

Just like Ryan Reynolds encouraged Blake Lively to address the issue directly with Taylor Swift, which Lively said in her texts, it sounds like Travis Kelce was encouraging Swift to be honest with her friend as well, as the insider continued:

While Blake Lively and Taylor Swift seemed to be trying to work through their issues in those and other text exchanges, it seems like tension still exists. The two still haven’t been seen together since October 2024, when they double-dated with Ryan Reynolds and Travis Kelce. Also, months after this text conversation, Kelce brought attention to the supposed conflict by allegedly unfollowing Ryan Reynolds on social media.

Weeks later, Taylor’s father, Scott Swift, allegedly leaked information to Justin Baldoni’s team, accusing Blake Lively of threatening to release texts between her and Taylor Swift if the musician didn’t issue a statement of public support for Lively. (The actress' lawyer called the allegation “categorically false.”)

With Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce in wedding planning mode, it also doesn’t appear Blake Lively will be standing next to her former bestie when Swift says, “I do,” as the singer appears to have chosen her bridesmaids.

Meanwhile, several other celebrities have been sucked into Blake Lively’s lawsuit, which is headed for trial in May. Fellow It Ends with Us star Jenny Slate sent texts to her team, calling Justin Baldoni a “fraud” and “false ally." Meanwhile, Jameela Jamil was shown in court documents to have described Lively’s actions as a “bizarre villain act” (amongst other things) in text conversations with Baldoni’s publicist, Jennifer Abel.

This fight has been going on for over a year, and Taylor Swift hasn’t been able to escape the narrative so far. We’ll have to see how Travis Kelce continues to support her ahead of Blake Lively’s upcoming trial.

Among the comments shared are some that came from Lively’s husband, Ryan Reynolds. The Canadian actor reportedly wrote a letter to author Colleen Hoover, in which he blasted Baldoni.

What Did Ryan Reynolds Say About Justin Baldoni In The Message?

While not credited on It Ends with Us, Ryan Reynolds (49) reportedly tinkered with the film’s script a bit, as he apparently wrote that rooftop scene. It’s also been alleged that Reynolds had his share of issues with Justin Baldoni (41) as well and that he even used the filmmaker as the basis for the Nicepool character in Deadpool & Wolverine. Now, as shared by Us Weekly, newly released documents show that Reynolds didn’t mince words about Baldoni when reaching out to IEWU author Colleen Hoover (46) after the film’s release:

Reynolds isn’t the only person to have criticized Baldoni as revealed by the newly unsealed documents. Other docs showed that cast member Jenny Slate was critical of Baldoni as well, as she called him “the most intense narcissist” and said, at the time, that she wanted to be distanced from him amid their press obligations. As for Reynolds’ sentiments, they don’t definitively confirm or deny Baldoni was the inspiration for Nicepool. However, Reynolds’ take on the director seemingly matches up with aspects of the Marvel character.

How Did Nicepool Get Involved In This Legal Conflict?

In January 2025, fans began to draw comparisons between Justin Baldoni and Nicepool (portrayed by Ryan Reynolds) on social media. Many noted that the Wade Wilson variant – like Baldoni – sported longer hair and shared pro-feminist views. The character also makes comments about Ladypool (played by Blake Lively) who just had a baby. And, in real life, Baldoni allegedly made inappropriate comments about Lively after she had a baby. Baldoni – who was suing Reynolds, Lively and more in early 2025 for alleged extortion, defamation and more – made a legal amendment to his suit and claimed Nicepool was used to insult him.

Additionally, in the film, Nicepool is killed by Lively’s Ladypool. On top of that, in a development that linked Marvel Studios to It Ends with Us, the actor credited for playing Nicepool was “Gordon Reynolds,” who also received a special thanks credit on IEWU. Baldoni’s team initially sought to have Marvel release all documents related to the MCU character but, once Baldoni’s suit was thrown out, that request became null and void.

Blake Lively initially filed a legal complaint against Baldoni and his production company, Wayfarer Studios, in December 2024. With that, Lively accused Baldoni of sexually harassing her while they filmed their movie and later launching a smear campaign against her. Lively eventually formally filed suit against Baldoni, who denied the claims and then filed his since-dismissed countersuit valued at $400 million.

With comments still surfacing as documents continue to be opened, it’s hard to say what other messages might be divulged in connection with the Lively/Baldoni case. It also remains to be seen if any concrete details involving Nicepool will reach the surface. For now, know that the trial involving Baldoni and Lively will begin on May 18, 2026.

There’s no shortage of Marvel crossover ideas floating around the internet, especially with the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day and the Russo Brothers' Avengers: Doomsday soon to hit the 2026 movie schedule, but every once in a while, one actually makes you stop and say, “Yeah… that would work.” On that note, Chris Pratt just shared which character he’d like to see Quill cross paths with in a new Marvel movie, and honestly, it’s hard to argue with his pick.

Speaking to Screen Rant while promoting his new sci-fi thriller Mercy, Chris Pratt was asked about potential Marvel crossovers now that the studio has access to characters previously locked behind other studios. As he put it:

A Star-Lord and Deadpool crossover feels almost too obvious on a tonal level. Pratt’s Peter Quill has always lived in that sweet spot between sincere emotional beats and pop-culture-fueled chaos. Deadpool, portrayed by Ryan Reynolds, thrives on breaking the fourth wall and undercutting tension. Put them together, and you’d get a collision of humor styles that could be complementary.

What makes Pratt’s comments especially interesting is the timing. Star-Lord was last seen in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which wrapped up James Gunn’s trilogy while reshuffling the team and sending Quill back to Earth. The film’s end credits explicitly promised that “The Legendary Star-Lord Will Return,” but Marvel has stayed quiet about when or where that might happen.

Most speculation points toward Quill's return in the two-part Avengers event currently on the horizon, which includes Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. That said, neither Star-Lord nor Deadpool has been officially confirmed for Doomsday, and rumors about Reynolds’ involvement remain conflicting.

Pratt mentioned wanting to be part of the process, even as a “fly on the wall.” That suggests genuine curiosity about how Marvel could balance Deadpool’s irreverent tone with the larger MCU machine, something fans have been debating since the merger became official. There is also the question of whether or not, with the restraint of a PG-13 rating, the character can thrive because, as of now, he's only ever appeared in R-rated territory.

Will it actually happen? That’s still very much up in the air. But if Avengers: Secret Wars truly is positioned as a multiversal blowout and soft reset, there may not be a better time to let Star-Lord and Deadpool cross paths.

Until Marvel confirms anything, it’s all hypothetical. But if Pratt ever gets his wish, I’ll be first in line to watch that chaos unfold. For now, I'll settle for rewatching all the Marvel movies in order with my Disney+ subscription.

It may be a new year full of drama-free upcoming book adaptations to look forward to, but Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s legal matters have yet to be settled, and will continue when they go to trial this May. While we await their court date, some past comments from Baldoni about Lively have just been revealed.

Back in October, when Justin Baldoni had his deposition, the It Ends With Us star and director shared some comments about Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ at-home office at their New York City penthouse. In his words:

This come from a transcript of the deposition that was recently obtained by People. According to Blake Lively's co-star in the Colleen Hoover bestseller, her home office is so star-studded that it’s earned a pretty glitzy codename between her and Reynolds.

The couple’s social circle is definitely full of big names, as one or both of them are friends with the likes of Taylor Swift, Hugh Jackman, Gigi Hadid, John Krasinski, Emily Blunt, Sandra Bullock, Salma Hayek, Jake Gyllenhaal and Rob McElhenny to name a few. Lively and Reynolds do a lot of business as producers and their various businesses, like Reynolds’ marketing firm Maximum Effort and co-owning the Welsh football club Wrexham AFC, not to mention brand deals.

At the time of Justin Baldoni’s comments, he was fighting for his countersuit against Lively and Reynolds, which was formally thrown out a month later. In response to the move, Baldoni’s lawyer said the legal team would remain “fully committed to pursuing the truth through every legal and factual avenue available and look forward to our day in court.” Baldoni’s countersuit was in response to Lively’s lawsuit alleging sexual harassment and retaliation toward Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios.

Aside from these Buckingham Palace comments, Blake Lively’s at-home office in New York City has been brought up a few times before during Baldoni’s legal action. In another piece of information that came out of an unsealed email filed by Baldoni, the Wayfarer team claimed that Taylor Swift and Hugh Jackman witnessed Ryan Reynolds chastising Baldoni for “fat-shaming” his wife in the very office while in the middle of the production of It Ends With Us, for example.

Looking forward to Lively and Baldoni’s trial date, which was postponed from its original date on March 9 due to the judge having two criminal trials that take "precedent" will instead take place on May 18, 2026. Ahead of that, the next scheduled hearing date is set for January 22.

All the while, another one of Colleen Hoover’s books, Reminders Of Him, is on the 2026 movie schedule for March 13.

Quentin Tarantino is one of Hollywood’s most celebrated filmmakers, but he recently drawn the ire of some fans due to comments he made. Tarantino shaded Paul Dano on The Bret Easton Ellis Podcast last week, calling him “the weakest fucking actor in SAG.” Owen Wilson and Matthew Lillard also caught some strays from the Kill Bill director, with Tarantino saying he doesn’t care for them as actors. Now, Lillard is being hyped up in a new commercial from none other than Ryan Reynolds.

A number of Tarantino's peers, including The Batman director Matt Reeves, showed support for Paul Dano after those comments went viral. Meanwhile, Matthew Lillard opened up about how much Tarantino's comments hurt him. Now, in comes Ryan Reynolds and co. with a new Mint Mobile commercial, which just happens to feature Lillard and sing his praises. Take a look:

If Ryan Reynolds knows how to do anything flawlessly, it's capitalizing on a pop culture-centric moment. The Deadpool actor has made ads with Nick Cannon poking fun at the reality host’s fathering of 12 children (8 at the time of the ad) and, more recently, he made an ad for Astronomer after Coldplay-gate, featuring Chris Martin’s ex, Gwyneth Paltrow. So it seems on brand that at a time when Lillard is a hot topic, Reynolds felt compelled to feature the beloved actor in a national ad campaign for his billion-dollar wireless company.

What's important to note, though, is that neither Reynolds nor Lillard mention Quentin Tarantino by name in the video. However, this ad came out only a week after the Once Upon A Time In Hollywood director’s comments were published. Also, in the commercial, Lillard makes a joke alluding to not being unanimously loved as an actor.

Still, the She’s All That alum seems to be aware that he has a very loyal fanbase. Even though it’s a joke, it hurts my heart to hear Lillard say he’s not loved. During a Five Nights At Freddy’s 2 screening, the FNAF actor told the audience he was not popular in Hollywood, and it honestly makes me sad he believes that.

While the most the FNAF sequel didn’t get great reviews, many of Lillard's movies remain beloved classics, from Scooby-Doo to Scream. And, over the years, he's given unforgettable goofy, crazy, and sometimes creepy performances. The comments on Reynolds' X account certainly prove that both Lillard and Reynolds have their admirers:

Something positive to pull from this whole situation is that Matthew Lillard has experienced an outpouring of love from his fans, and it's lovely to see the SLC Punk! actor receive it. Fans can check out Lillard now in Five Nights at Freddy's 2, which is now playing in theaters. Also, the actor will return as Stu Macher in the upcoming Scream 7, which is set to hit theaters on February 27 amid the 2026 movie schedule.

Starring in and producing one of the most successful superhero movies of all time has to be a great way to make up for past failures, and one can assume that Deadpool and Wolverine’s Avengers-topping billion-dollar box office went a long way in tamping down the stigma of Ryan Reynolds having also starred in one of the biggest flops of the modern era, Green Lantern. But it sounds like he still can’t avoid the DC flick coming up repeatedly in his daily life, and it’s not just from social media trolls.

As it turns out, while Green Lantern’s glaring sights and sounds didn’t win over general audiences when it hit theaters in 2011, it eventually did win the heart and mind of someone very important to the lead actor: his son. (As well as someone at CinemaBlend, though they’re clearly not as important to the celeb.) For a Q&A event for the Wall Street Journal’s Leadership Institute, Reynolds was asked about a noteworthy failure in his career, to which he shared this amusing anecdote:

Indeed, several people in the audience did start to laugh when he namechecked the ring-bearing DC hero, which was to be expected. That movie essentially squashed any and all future plans to give GL a bigger live-action presence, and not even the Arrowverse paid off on giving David Ramsey's Diggle the moniker, despite fans begging for it at the time. Thankfully, he never stopped being a major player in DC's various animated series and movies in the aftermath, and I can't flipping wait for HBO's Lanterns to give the character(s) due vindication. But that's for another time.

While most of us are happy to keep our past downfalls mentally locked away for the long haul, Ryan Reynolds is clearly not so lucky. By all means, he likely feels a certain sense of pride and accomplishment by his son being so passionate about rewatching one of his movies. But there are probably a smattering of other projects that the actor would want to swap in its place, considering he Maybe not Buried or the Deadpool flicks yet, though, at least until the kid is older.

To that end, though, the Two Guys and a Girl vet talked just prior about learning how important it is that his and Blake Lively's children see that side of their careers, since so much of what their young minds take in is all of the glitz, glory and success. Reynolds spoke to that ongoing worry, saying:

Maybe a little weird to have to use one of their favorite movies as an example of something that failed, but that lesson will no doubt make more sense as they get older.

Beyond that, Green Lantern helped Reynolds learn that good dialogue is as valuable as giant stunts, which possibly helped spark the desire to make Deadpool the quippiest, most dialogue-chomping character possible when those films were being put together. Although I guess one's mileage will vary on whether that's a good thing or not.

At least he wasn’t part of Team Bowl Cut like Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner, because that might have killed his entire career right there in 2014, and possibly could have doomed his relationship with Blake Lively before it started. Which would mean he never would have had a son who grew up to watch Green Lantern every day. Never underestimate the power of avoiding a bowl cut.

Fans can probably expect to see Deadpool showing up in Avengers: Doomsday more than they can expect to see Reynolds suiting up for James Gunn's DCU. He already amusingly expressed his disinterest, reportedly telling James Gunn to “fuck off” when the filmmaker jokingly asked if he’d be up for it. I'd still expect some kind of on-screen reference to it, though.

If you follow Wrexham AFC’s rise or you’re one of the millions who binge-watched Welcome to Wrexham, you know by now that Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively’s celebrity glow casts a long shadow over the small Welsh club. But what’s it actually like to spend time around Hollywood royalty in the UK — especially while their personal lives are splashed across headlines? According to someone who knows them well, it’s a lot less glamorous (and a lot more draining) than most fans might imagine, especially as the It Ends With Us lawsuit drags on.

This week, Wrexham executive director and actor Humphrey Ker opened up to The Telegraph about what life has been like behind the scenes as the Green Lantern stars and real-life couple have weathered not just the relentless press attention that comes with their global fame, but the ongoing legal battle with Lively's It Ends With Us movie adaptation co-star Justin Baldoni. Ker didn’t mince words when discussing how the past year and a half has tested the couple. As he put it:

The It Ends With Us lawsuit saga has seen Lively and her co-star/director embroiled in dueling lawsuits and tabloid frenzy, leaving the couple with little respite from the drama—even as the football fairytale keeps rolling. One thing Ker did point out, however, is that Wrexham itself offers the pair a rare safe haven—one where their A-list status is less of a factor than whether or not they’re signing a new centre back. For all the stress of Hollywood and the ongoing legal drama, Wrexham seems to offer the A-list couple a dose of authenticity—and a level of peace and quiet they just can’t find in the States right now. As for Reynolds and Lively, Wrexham might not solve every problem, but at least in North Wales, they get to be just Ryan and Blake—the club’s owners who are expected to care about the team, not the tabloids. And that’s probably a better, if not at least healthier, kind of celebrity than anything Hollywood can offer.

OK, you know like two sentences ago when I mentioned Jonathan Bailey had a “slightly” NSFW answer about Fiyero’s journey from real boy to –and spoilers – the infamous scarecrow from Oz? That was a lie. He had a NOTABLY NSFW answer about the entire ordeal, telling EW that when he wasn’t fully in costume yet, the whole thing was a nightmarish adventure.

Welp, now I can never unsee that Wicked: For Good imagery. It sounds like “big wheat penis” was the best they could do, too, as he went through an intense amount of work before the movie got the whole look right. The end result is certainly memorable, in Bailey’s estimation… particularly when the straw was in place. However, it sounds like the whole thing was rather uncomfortable on set.

This isn’t the first time someone involved in a big budget movie has talked about needing “plumbing,” aka a cooling system to keep them cool amidst filming. Superhero actors are very familiar with the process, with Paul Bettany (Vision) needing a tubing system in place to keep cool. At least I’m hoping Bailey was able to take bathroom breaks, unlike some other heroes we know.

Shortly after Wicked: For Good dropped, a slew of funny internet posts compared Bailey’s scarecrow to Ryan Reynolds, and in some cases, specifically Reynolds’ Deadpool.

I don't think Jonathan Bailey intended to insult Ryan Reynolds with his "wheat penis" comment, but the two things will forever be tied together in my mind. Many apologies to the Deadpool actor, but hey, at least he's not being compared to a "shar pei" this time.

Ryan Reynolds is widely known for headlining films like Deadpool, The Proposal and The Adam Project as an actor, yet he has also emerged as a skilled marketer. With that, he’s become quite savvy when it comes to crafting commercials. Reynolds put those skills to use months ago when he produced an ad for Astronomer, the company embroiled in that Coldplay kiss cam situation. While Reynolds’ jokey ad, which features Gwyneth Paltrow, nods at the controversy, there’s also a keen reason for him wanting to make it.

For those who need context, during a Coldplay concert this past July, now-former Astronomer CEO Andy Byron was spotted with his arms around Kristin Cabot, a Human Resources exec for the company. The two were seen via a kiss cam and, once the screen showed them, they attempted to hide. Amid the now-viral situation, the aforementioned band’s lead singer, Chris Martin, mused that the two may be having an “affair.” Both Cabot and Byron later stepped down from their respective positions.

The previously mentioned ad, which debuted just weeks after the concert moment, was produced by Ryan Reynolds’ Maximum Effort production banner. Of course, Reynolds and co. were aware of the Byron/Cabot situation as evidenced by Gwyneth Paltrow (who was married to Chris Martin for nearly 13 years) jokingly alluding to the controversy in the ad. However, Reynolds explained during the Wall Street Journal's CMO Council Summit (via People) that he wanted the ad to be more informative than satirical:

Astronomer is a startup company founded in 2018 that assists companies in finding efficient ways to calculate and manage data. The organization’s goals are what apparently motivated the Spirited star to produce a commercial that explains what the group does:

That’s an affable reason for wanting to create a commercial like this and, while the ad is legitimately funny, it also sheds light on the company at the center of it. Check it out:

Honestly, it’s been interesting to see just how skilled Ryan Reynolds and his team have been when it comes to marketing. I don’t know how the multihyphenate and his team do it, but they just consistently find fun ways to advertise. Among their best productions are that viral Mint Mobile commercial involving Rick Moranis and that Aviation Gin ad that lampoons Hot Frosty. The Father’s Day ad from Reynolds’ gin brand is very funny as well.

That Astronomer commercial isn’t the only way in which the situation has been nodded at either. Film production company Neon also touched on the scandal with a piece of marketing for the horror film Together. The concert faux pas became so famous that even NFL fans mentioned it when watching a fan rushing out of the sightline of a stadium camera during a Bills/Patriots game earlier this fall.

Jokes aside, the kiss cam situation resulted in significant ramifications not just for Astronomer but for Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot’s lives and careers. Keeping that in mind, it’s admirable that Ryan Reynolds sought to turn a negative into a positive using his commercial.

Despite It Ends With Us releasing back in August of 2024, that hasn't stopped the book to screen adaptation from making headlines. The drama is thanks to the legal battle happening between director Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. There's no signs of this saga ending, and texts from Baldoni show his response after having a conflict with the pair of A-listers in their home. Let's break it down.

Blake Lively's lawsuit against Wayfarer Studios started a long legal saga thats continuing to this day. In response, Baldoni filed his own defamation case against Lively and Reynolds regarding It Ends With Us (which is streaming with a Netflix subscription). The situation has taken another turn, as People acquired court documents showing Baldoni's texts to Rainn Wilson about the movie's drama, and a conversation he had with Lively and Reynolds in their home. The texts read:

This is a reference to the Man Enough Podcast, which is hosted by Justin Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios CEO Jamey Heath. It focuses on gender roles and what it's like to be a man in the modern world. Although if these texts are to be believed, this became a point of contention with Lively and Reynolds.

While Baldoni's defamation case was tossed out, it's clear that the legal battle surrounding It Ends With Us isn't slowing anytime soon. While we wait to Lively and Baldoni finally meet in court, the latter's texts allege a strong reaction to his discussion with his co-star (and her husband) in their home. More texts read:

This isn't the first time that texts have come up since the It Ends With Us litigation began. For instance, texts between editors claimed that Blake Lively tried to take over the movie's sex scenes. But the ones acquired by people were sent to The Office star Rainn Wilson privately, with Baldoni venting his frustrations. They continue:

It certainly sounds like the director/actor was in some distress as a result of his conversation with Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively. And these texts offer some new context about how/why the legal battle surrounding the movie ended up starting in the first place. While the Gossip Girl star claims that Baldoni's behavior was inappropriate on set, he seems to have similar feelings about her. Yet another text reads:

Despite how long this legal battle has been going on, there's no signs of either person (or their lawyers) slowing down. Baldoni's lawyers are committed to the fight, even after the defamation case was dismissed. And I can only imagine how many headlines will come out once the actors actually meet in court.

It Ends With Us is streaming on Netflix, despite the drama that's surrounding it. While Blake Lively has a few projects on the 2026 movie release list and beyond, Baldoni doesn't have anything listed on his IMDb at the point of writing this story.

It isn’t that uncommon to go to a thrift store and find a wall of old VHS tapes for next to nothing. I mean, there’s an entire subculture of VHS collectors who’ll amass 10, 100, or 1,000 copies of iconic ‘90s movies like Titanic and Speed, and I don’t imagine that venture has them spending an ungodly amount of cash for their personal project.

Well, the same can’t be said about Just Friends, the 2005 friends-to-lovers romantic comedy starring Ryan Reynolds and Amy Smart. While you can pick up a DVD copy for $5 or rent it with an Amazon subscription or at other digital retailers for less than that, a VHS copy will cost you around $150 by the time it’s all said and done.

I recently learned about a strange collector phenomenon and why it’s making this Ryan Reynolds rom-com a big-ticket item in the VHS community.

I Stumbled Upon A Copy Selling For $150 On Facebook Marketplace And Couldn’t Believe My Eyes

This story begins where most crazy online purchases are found today: Facebook Marketplace. While scrolling through random movie listings, I stumbled upon a copy of Just Friends that cost $150. At first glance, I thought it was a typo. Clearly, someone wouldn’t be charging that much for a forgettable 2005 movie? Was it an error, and they meant to type in $1.50? However, that wasn’t the case, and I soon found out that this wasn’t the only copy going for that much.

I got on eBay not long after and found a “Buy It Now” listing for $160 plus shipping and handling. There is another copy that’s around $100 cheaper, but it’s the Korean release, and it still costs $62 plus shipping and handling. However, there was also a copy that went for $185 back in 2022, per VHS Collection Hero. That’s like a year and change of Mint Mobile.

Like, what is going on here?

It Turns Out Just Friends Was The Final Comedy Releaesd On VHS

So, why does Just Friends cost so much on VHS? Well, according to Legacy Box, the rom-com was the final comedy released on the format back in 2006. With so many collectors wanting to have the “final movie of [insert genre] on VHS,” not to mention the rarity of the tape, this thing has gotten quite pricey and highly sought after over the past 19 years.

This whole journey led me to discover that there’s an entire group of VHS collectors who are willing to pay top dollar for those late-stage VHS tapes from 2004 to 2005. This includes everything classic book-to-screen adaptions like Pride & Prejudice to sci-fi action flicks like Doom, and A History of Violence, which was the final Hollywood film to be released on VHS back in 2006, according to Far Out magazine. I found copies of that Viggo Mortensen movie, which was directed by body horror great David Cronenberg, for as much as $500 on eBay, which is straight up bonkers!

If you want to go off and spend $150 to $500 on a nearly 20-year-old VHS tape, be my guest. However, both of these movies are routinely available for a few bucks.

While it’s still unclear whether we’ll see Ryan Reynolds reprise Deadpool in Avengers: Doomsday next year, the fact of the matter is that he has plenty of other projects to keep himself busy. Just a few days ago, it was announced that he’d play a villainous character in Netflix’s film adaptation of the Eloise book series. Now word’s come in that Reynolds will also be remaking one of Clint Eastwood’s classic films, although sorry to any of you who were hoping it’d be the one where the Hollywood icon shares screen time with an orangutan.

No, instead of putting his own stamp on 1978’s Every Which Way But Loose (which was followed in 1980 by Any Which Way You Can), Ryan Reynolds is instead turning his attention to a different comedic Clint Eastwood movie: 1974’s Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, which co-starred Jeff Bridges. Per THR, Reynolds’ production company Maximum Effort will team with Amazon-MGM for this remake. Along with being looked at to star, Reynolds is working on the script with Fargo duo Enzo Mileti and Scott Wilson. This will also mark the feature directorial debut of Deadpool & Wolverine editor Shane Reid.

hunderbolt and Lightfoot starred Clint Eastwood as John "Thunderbolt" Doherty, a bank robber who’s disguised as a preacher and on the run from his old gang because they believe he double-crossed them. Thunderbolt is rescued by Jeff Bridges’ Lightfoot, a car thief, and together they figure out a new heist to pull off with the gang after clearing things up. Thunderbolt and Lightfoot can be streamed for free on Tubi and Pluto TV, as well as on MGM+, which can be added on to your Amazon Prime Video subscription.

The original Thunderbolt and Lightfoot was met with positive critical reception and performed modestly at the box office, and Jeff Bridges’ performance in it later netted him an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor nomination. THR states that the remake could be “an ideal vehicle for an A-lister two-hander,” and there’s the possibility that this could be what brings Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman together after Deadpool & Wolverine. They're already gearing up to be paired again under the direction of filmmaker Shawn Levy for Boy Band.

It remains to be seen where the Thunderbolt and Lightfoot remake rests on Ryan Reynolds’ list of priorities, but regardless, we’ll have to wait a while for this arrival. Meanwhile, catch the actor next in Animal Friends, which Warner Bros. Pictures is releasing June 5 on the 2026 movies schedule.

Aside from producing the documentary John Candy: I Like Me, Ryan Reynolds sat out contributing to the 2025 movies schedule. However, he’ll be back onscreen next year for the live action animated road trip comedy Animal Friends, and it’s rumored he’ll also reprise Wade Wilson, a.k.a. Deadpool, in the upcoming Marvel movie Avengers: Doomsday. Looking further into the future, word’s come in that Reynolds is teaming with Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, and now I have to wonder if his character will deliver the actor’s trademark snarky-fast dialogue.

He and Sherman-Palladino are developing a new Eloise live-action movie for Netflix, based off the same-named book series from the 1950s authored by Kay Thompson and illustrated by Hilary Knight. According to THR, Reynolds will both produce Eloise through his Maximum Effort production company alongside MRC, as well as play an “original villainous character” opposite Mae Schenk as the title protagonist. This Eloise movie will be an original story rather than directly adapt one of the books, with Sherman-Palladino writing the script with Hannah Marks and Linda Woolverton. Filming will begin later this month.

The namesake of the Eloise books is a little girl who lives in the “room at the tippy top” of New York City’s Plaza Hotel with her nanny, her pug dog Weenies and her turtle Skipperdee. Kay Thompson based the character off her childhood imaginary friend and alter ego, although per a 1999 Salon article, Liza Minnelli was also suspected to be a source of inspiration. The first two books in the series were previously adapted into the 2003 TV movies Eloise at the Plaza and Eloise at Christmastime, which starred Sofia Vassilieva as the adventurous girl and Julie Andrews as Nanny.

It’s anyone’s guess at this point how Ryan Reynolds’ villainous character will disrupt the life of Mae Schenk’s Eloise, but I think it’s a safe bet to say that he’ll drop quite a few quips and one-liners as he’s doing it. I’m envisioning something like an antagonist bent on what he did in 2024’s IF, his most kid-friendly movie of the last several years. Elosie will be Reynolds’ first Netflix subscription-exclusive movie since 2022’s The Adam Project, and you can also find Amy Sherman-Palladino’s revival Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life exclusively on the platform.

This Reynolds/Sherman-Palladino collaboration is arguably the biggest effort yet to introduce Eloise to global audiences. Going back to Mae Schenk, Eloise will mark her feature film debut, with Ashley Fox and Johnny Pariseau, the co-presidents of production at Maximum Effort, saying in an official statement:

Hannah Minghella, the head of feature animation and family film at Netflix, said in her own statement that it was an “honor” to reintroduce Eloise to the world with Ryan Reynolds and Amy Sherman-Palladino, who share the character’s “signature mischief and charm.” Keep checking back with CinemaBlend for updates on how this project is coming along.

If Ryan Reynolds has the desire to make a joke or a reference that he is passionate about, he is not one to treat nickels as though they are manhole covers – and two great examples of this have emerged from the history of the Deadpool franchise. First, there was the revelation back in 2016 that $10,000 of the film's budget was allocated so that the actor could wear a shirt featuring the likeness of Bea Arthur (a special easter egg for Deadpool fans). That's pretty wild... but even more wild is that the new revelation that the actor/producer spent $5,000 of his own money for the rights to make a special John Candy joke in all three of the Marvel films.

Reynolds discussed the special expenditure recently during a Q&A in New York following a screening of the new documentary John Candy: I Like Me (which is presently available to stream with an Amazon Prime subscription). The "joke" in question is a copy of the prop book The Canadian Mounted, which is a novel that Candy's character reads in the classic comedy Planes, Trains, And Automobiles. The tome appears in Deadpool, Deadpool 2, and Deadpool & Wolverine... but only because he ponied up a lot of money to Paramount Pictures for the rights. He explained (via People),

It wasn't just a one-time payment, either. Apparently the $5,000 was a single use fee, so when he wanted to use the book in the sequels, he had to open his wallet again.

There is plenty to love about this story, but my favorite is the fact that Ryan Reynolds was willing to pay the money despite the fact that he finds multiple other ways to pay tribute to John Candy and Planes, Trains And Automobiles in the Deadpool movies. In Deadpool & Wolverine alone, there is a scene with the characters walking past a burnt 1983 Chrysler LeBaron convertible (the same year, make and model of the car driven by Candy and Steve Martin in the John Hughes classic), and one of the very earliest shots sports a mug with one of Candy's most memorable lines:

When presented with the $5,000 price tag, Reynolds could have said, "Nah, we can do other stuff," but he stayed dedicated to the reference and spent the money.

In an era where superhero movies are the most important films being released in theaters, the Deadpool movies are among the top tier of superhero franchises. The three Deadpool films have each been massive blockbusters, with Deadpool & Wolverine clearing $1 billion at the global box office at a time when fewer films are having massive box office success. It’s hard to believe the series has come so far and one person who can’t believe it is co-star Morena Baccarin.

Baccarin, who also stars in the series Sherriff Country, recently spoke with Variety and said that she really can’t believe how successful the series has been. Next year will mark the 10th anniversary of the first Deadpool movie, and the actress admits she can’t believe that this many years later the film would become what it is today. She said…

It is pretty hard to believe that Deadpool is as massive a franchise as it is, especially considering how close it came to not being anything. Reynolds had been trying to get a Deadpool movie made for some time, ultimately getting the ok to film some test footage. Fox reportedly passed on making a full movie based on the footage, but that’s when the story really takes off.

The Deadpool test footage leaked online, exactly who is responsible has never been fully clear, though Ryan Reynolds himself is the prime suspect. When fans saw the footage, everybody flipped out, and it became so popular that ultimately the movie was given the greenlight.

Deadpool would be a huge success, one of the highest grossing R-rated movies ever made. It would in turn spawn two sequels. Deadpool & Wolverine (which is streaming with a Disney+ subscription) would outdo the previous Deadpool movies at the box office, but if there was a downside to it was that Morena Baccarin wasn’t in it much. While she understands why, she’s certainly hopeful that nay potential future for the franchise might have a bigger place for her. She explained…

While it’s unclear what, if any, future that Deadpool will have the MCU (Why was Thor crying?), I’m certainly hopeful that there’s a bigger place for Morena Baccarin too. Her relationship with Wade has always been core to the movies, and the lack of it was one of the few things missing in Deadpool & Wolverine.

It’s clear from all the work that went into the new documentary, John Candy: I Like Me, currently available with a Prime Video subscription, that the iconic comedian was a major influence on producer Ryan Reynolds. He and director Colin Hanks have received a great deal of praise for the film, which has revealed a lot of interesting information about the late actor. However, there’s something else Ryan Reynolds recently received that may mean even more. A business card.

Reynolds took to Instagram to reveal that during a recent Q&A appearance to promote the movie, he met James Hughes, the son of director John Hughes. Hughes wrote three of John Candy’s best movies, including The Great Outdoors, Uncle Buck, and the great Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. Reynolds revealed a gift he was handed from the latter film, one of he last original business cards of Candy’s character, Del Griffith. Check It Out.

Every movie needs the right props, and some of them become iconic. John Candy’s character, a salesman who specializes in shower curtain rings, would certainly need business cards, so some were made for the film. However many were actually created for the film, there can’t be that many still in existence, but Ryan Reynolds has one, which has to be cool for the guy who is such a big fan that he put John Candy references in the Deadpool movies.

While there were likely more than a few business cards made for the film, with the movie being nearly 40 years old it’s unlikely that most of them are still around. A lot of people who are fans likely also have some. Even if there was a full box of them to start, one imagines James Hughes can’t have that many left.

Considering that, being a business card, the prop has to be fairly fragile, I have to imagine Ryan Reynolds is going to find a place of honor for this card where it will also remain protected. Reynolds has some young kids who will not understand the value of this for years, and as somebody with small children of own, I can only imagine the damage that could be done to this piece of film history. Maybe don’t even keep it at home, Ryan.

While John Candy played some great characters in his career, his role in Planes, Trains, and Automobiles has to be his most famous. It’s the film where Candy has the iconic line that became the subtitle for the documentary film. It will likely be watched by a lot of people next month, as its Thanksgiving setting makes it a seasonal watch for many. For the record, the movie will be available with a Paramount+ subscription starting November 1.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is constantly releasing new content, both in theaters and streaming with a Disney+ subscription. Fans who spent years watching the Marvel movies in order will recall that there have been some peaks and valleys in the years since Avengers: Endgame hit theaters. But Shawn Levy's Deadpool & Wolverine broke records, and the director recently shared a sweet photo dump for Ryan Reynolds' birthday. And I particularly love the BTS images of them working on that MCU flick.

Yesterday was Ryan Reynolds' birthday, with the acclaimed actor/writer/producer turning 49. He's been getting a ton of love online, including from his bestie and frequent collaborator Shawn Levy. The Stranger Things director shared the following post on Instagram, featuring some cool images of them working on Deadpool & Wolverine together. Check it out below:

How sweet is that? Clearly there's a ton of love between these two, who have worked together on a variety of projects including Free Guy, The Adam Project, and (of course) Deadpool 3. The latter is represented in the photo dump's second and fifth images, which show them working on set. We see Levy and Reynolds giggling at the TVA headquarters, as well as a shot of the actor in a battle-ravaged version of Wade Wilson's costume. Am I the only one who likes seeing how the sausage gets made via these images?

While Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman's faux feud is delightful for fans, Shawn Levy is showing nothing but love on his IG post, which was shared to his whopping 795k followers. Although Jackman does make an appearance in the photo dump, completing this trio of icons.

Given how wildly successful Deadpool & Wolverine was, fans are eager for information about if/when Levy and Reynolds might work on a fourth installment in the R-rated franchise. For his part, Ryan Reynolds shut down the idea of jumping right back into the development stage, but another Deadpool flick seems like it'll definitely happen eventually. The question is just a matter of when. Fans are also hoping that Wade Wilson and Logan might appear in upcoming Marvel movies like Avengers: Doomsday and/or Secret Wars.

Ryan Reynolds and Shawn Levy met through Hugh Jackman, and the two have been working closely together for years now. And in addition to their collaboration on the aforementioned movies, they also are also good friends and even neighbors in New York City. So one can only imagine how many photos the filmmaker has that didn't make it into his birthday post.

While Reynolds and Levy's next movie seems inevitable, the latter is currently busy filming Star Wars: Starfighter, which will be the franchise's first return to theaters since The Rise of Skywalker. What's more, Reynolds is reportedly privy to the inner workings of Starfighter.

Deadpool & Wolverine is streaming now on Disney+, and Starfighter is currently expected to arrive in theaters May 28, 2027. Birthday boy Ryan Reynolds is attached to a number of upcoming projects, on the 2026 movie release list and beyond.

The Adam Project is one of those hidden gem Netflix originals that becomes an instant favorite upon watching it. The all-star cast not only features Ryan Reynolds and Walker Scobell playing older and younger versions of the main character Adam, but it also reunites 13 Going On 30’s Mark Ruffalo and Jennifer Garner. Directed by Stranger Things' Shawn Levy, this time-traveling sci-fi adventure flick has a ton of heart, and also humor, including a hilarious scene where the Deadpool actor and Ruffalo each swing at each other. There’s a lot of punching in this film, but Ruffalo undeniably lands the best one, and apparently the Poor Things actor lost no sleep over having to punch his buddy in the face.

Ever wonder what it’s like to punch Ryan Reynolds in a movie? Apparently that question had subconsciously been on the Mickey 17 actor’s mind for a while. It turns out Mark Ruffalo was more than ready for his chance to stage slug Reynolds in 2022’s The Adam Project, telling GQ the funny reason why he was able to get the punch right on the first take:

Imagine you’re Ryan Reynolds and you hear your co-star literally dreamt about punching you in the face. I really hope my witty Twitter king replies to these hilarious comments from Ruffalo, because I need to know his reaction.

Fortunately for Ruffalo, it’s not that strange to plan out punching the Spirited actor onscreen, as it happens pretty frequently. I have to assume it’s because of Reynolds' signature dry humor and sarcasm he brings to his characters. I mean, between all three Deadpool movies, there’s gotta be at least one punch per film with all the bs Deadpool spews. There was even an instance in The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard where Frank Grillo’s character punches Reynolds’ character to shut him up, and the Captain America: The Winter Soldier actor admitted to accidentally punching Reynolds for real during a take.

While there are plenty of witty moments in The Adam Project from both Reynolds and his mini-me (Scobell), Ruffalo’s punch is actually not in response to the IF actor’s sarcasm. Rather, he is returning the favor. Reynolds slugs Ruffalo first as a reaction to his late father Louis (Ruffalo) lecturing him on the dangers of time-traveling outside your own time line (duh).

Reynolds plays a rogue time agent, and in kid-Adam’s own words, he’s “kinda ripped.” The Now You See Me actor on the other hand plays a brilliant academic, a father, and not someone you would expect to have as tough a punch. So Ruffalo’s vision for the punch was actually perfect: a forward lunge straight to the jaw, on the jump, with his leg kicking up.

Despite the flying fists, the father-son dynamic between the two Adams and their time-resurrected father will melt your heart, especially at the end of the movie. It’s the kind of movie that doesn’t need a sequel, but I would kill to have this cast together again. Perhaps it’s not out of the question, although given the now 16 year-old Scobell is signed onto a long contract with Disney’s Percy Jackson, and Shawn Levy is getting ready to launch the final season of Stranger Things with the Duffer Brothers, I don’t see it happening anytime soon. However, I have hope Levy and Reynolds, who have collaborated on multiple films, will work together again.

Thankfully, their best team-up (imo), The Adam Project is a perfect family fall watch, and is always available to watch with a Netflix subscription.

The new documentary film John Candy: I Like Me (available with a Prime Video subscription) is clearly a labor of love for director Colin Hanks and producer Ryan Reynolds. It’s also clear from watching it how many people who worked with Candy through the years loved the man dearly. That being said, getting everybody interviewed for the new film was no easy feat, according to Ryan Reynolds.

Reynolds recently appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers to talk about the new John Candy documentary. And while he revealed that Hanks handled the bulk of the interviews with Candy’s various friends and co-stars, including Steve Martin, Martin Short, and others, he says he personally handled two of them: Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd. While Reynolds may not have done as many interviews, the two he did took a lot of work.

Reynolds had already talked about how difficult it was to get a hold of Bill Murray to even ask him to be part of the film. He had to work to get a phone number and left many messages before Murray finally called him back. John Candy was a special person to all his fans, but also to his friends, who clearly enjoyed talking about him. Even if some of them were hard to nail down, it was all worthwhile.

The love for John Candy’s legacy has been in full force as of late due in great part to the release of the new documentary I Like Me (which is streamable with a Prime Video subscription). Ryan Reynolds served as a producer on the film and, while promoting it, he has discussed his respect and admiration for Candy, who died at 43 in 1994. Not only that, but Reynolds also revealed how there are Candy-centric Easter eggs in the Deadpool movies. Now, the star is paying tribute to Candy in another very sweet way.

One of the most touching aspects of John Candy: I Like Me is the portion that covers the late comedian’s visit to Harvard in the ‘80s. Believe it or not, that visit was actually put together by a student whose name fans might recognize – Conan O’Brien. While on the campus, Candy posed next to the statue of the school’s namesake, John Harvard. Ryan Reynolds, being so keen to follow in his comedy hero’s footsteps, actually did the same thing during his own visit to the university. Check out the post he shared to his Instagram story:

The notion of standing in the same exact spot as the Stripes icon is surreal to me. Had I been at Harvard as Reynolds was, I’d have likely taken the opportunity to do the same. I’m just endlessly delighted by the various ways in which Reynolds has paid homage to one of the most beloved entertainers in the history of Hollywood. Collectively, these tributes further serve as a testament to the effect Candy had on people, and Reynolds isn’t the only star who was positively impacted by him.

Conan O’Brien discussed his own interactions with John Candy during the documentary, explaining how surprised he was that the SCTV alum would agree to come to the campus. What was even more surreal was for the then-aspiring comedy writer to take Candy around campus and even try (in vain) to monitor what he ate.

O’Brien also revealed that during their time together, Candy advised him that when it came to comedy, “You don’t try it. You either do it or you don’t do it. You don’t try it, kid.” It’s fair to say O’Brien took that to heart, and he's been doing it in earnest for decades.

Honestly, those Harvard-related anecdotes are just a few of the sweet details shared in I Like Me, which is directed by Colin Hanks. The film chronicles the Uncle Buck star’s humble beginnings and his eventual rise to fame. Of course, it also doesn’t shy away from discussing his professional setbacks as well as his struggles with his weight and alcohol consumption. What Hanks ultimately crafts is a portrait of a man who wasn’t perfect but worked hard to be the kind of man and comedian people could be proud of.

Ryan Reynolds certainly seems to admire John Candy hence his desire to team up with the late star’s kids to make the doc. The film aside, Reynolds also thinks there are other ways in which Candy should be memorialized. When someone suggested that Candy’s face should appear on Canadian currency, Reynolds agreed, and it didn’t seem like he was just joking about that suggestion either.

I greatly appreciate various tributes to Candy, including the nods in the Deadpool movies, which pertain to Trains, Planes and Automobiles. However, there’s just something about this Harvard photo that just feels particularly sentimental and personal. I’d imagine that Reynolds will cherish that memento for years to come.

Over the years, Ryan Reynolds has discussed some of the stars he admired at a young age, and John Candy is high on that list. In fact, Reynolds admired his fellow Canadian star so much that he even produced a documentary about Candy called I Like Me. That’s not the only way Reynolds has paid tribute to the late Uncle Buck icon, as he also honored him with Easter eggs placed within the Deadpool films. I’d honestly never caught all of these nods but, after learning about them, I find them incredibly sweet.

Ryan Reynolds recently appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers to promote his new documentary. Meyers eventually pointed out that Reynolds peppered references to John Candy throughout the Deadpool trilogy. The first – and I can’t believe I didn’t know Reynolds previously discussed this tribute – is the book The Canadian Mounted. That piece of literature is what Candy’s Planes, Trains and Automobiles character, Del Griffith, reads in the movie. That’s not the only reference to Planes that’s tucked into the Marvel movie series, either. After seeing the Late Night interview (which is on YouTube) I was also surprised to learn that the burnt-out 1983 Chrysler LeBaron convertible that Del and Neal Page use in the film also appears in Deadpool & Wolverine, when the two titular characters traverse The Void. Seriously, as someone who considers himself to be relatively observant, I can’t believe I never noticed that vehicle in that shot. As Reynolds humorously mentioned on Late Night, though, the car had to be renamed the Grand Detroit to avoid legal issues. In addition to the car and the presence of The Canadian Mounted, there are a few other specific references to Planes, Trains and Automobiles.

As Ryan Reynolds noted (via People) during a special presentation of the John Candy doc, the Merc with a Mouth also gives an impassioned appeal to Wolverine similar to Del’s “I like me” speech. On that same token, Logan chews out Wade in a way that mirrors Neal’s berating of Del. Reynolds said during the event that in the movie, the adamantium clawed mutant essentially “rips Wade Wilson a new asshole.” (And that’s a spot-on assessment.)

Those references to candy in the Deadpool movies were sweet enough ways for the Free Guy star to honor him, but the documentary is an even better way to do so. Directed by Colin Hanks, the film was seemingly a passionate project for Reynolds and, with the help of Candy’s kids, he and Hanks crafted a sweet film to honor the late star’s memory and get fans in their feelings.

Honestly, the Deadpool flicks hit just a little differently with the knowledge that there are so many references to the work of John Candy. It’s surreal to think that the world has been without Candy’s comedic brilliance for over 30 years now. Despite that, his legacy lives on through his kids as well as fans – including Ryan Reynolds – who continue to pay homage to his work.

Ryan Reynolds is easily one of the busiest men in Hollywood, so it’s easy to imagine that he has quite a packed schedule. Despite that, to our knowledge, the star has historically been prompt whenever he has a talk show appearance to make. However, this week, he had a bit of a snafu, as he was nearly late for his appearance on Live with Kelly and Mark. Reynolds was so concerned that he even sent a crucial text message to Mark Consuelos. Thankfully, the Canadian star made it and, of course, he read his hilarious text on air.

The Deadpool star was scheduled to appear on Kelly and Mark on Wednesday and, while on air, Kelly Ripa told the audience that her co-host/hubby had just heard from him. Ripa said that Reynolds reached out to say he was “running late,” leading her to say it was “an alarming text to get backstage.” According to EW, producer Michael Gelman signaled from off stage that Reynolds was indeed in the building. The show eventually went to a commercial break, after which Reynolds appeared with the eponymous hosts.

Whew, that sounds like a stressful situation for a talk show crew, as I can’t even imagine being on live TV and being uncertain as to whether a major guest will show up. It’s wonderful that Ryan Reynolds ended up making it, though. How serious Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos’ nerves were at that point is hard to say. But, in what may now be one of the best Daytime TV moments ever, Reynolds certainly lightened the mood by pulling out his phone and sharing exactly what he texted Consuelos:

It goes without saying that this message is so on brand for the Spirited actor that it hurts, but it’s still so funny. This may even be better than the moment he popped on on The View due to escorting his mother to a taping. Also, you can believe it, the comments above aren't all that the A-lister texted either. Reynolds shared what he considered to be the “good news” about the situation while also throwing a bit of playful shade at Mark Consuelos:

In college, I’d be worried about missing a college class, so I can’t even imagine the pressure of being a guest on a nationally syndicated talk show and trying to get there on time. Again, though, very few people are as busy as Ryan Reynolds is. (OK, maybe Ryan Seacrest is that busy, but still.) Reynolds has various business ventures on the table and currently even co-owns the profitable football club Wrexham AFC.

Of course, Reynolds also continues to produce and star in movies and TV productions. He most recently produced the documentary John Candy: I Like Me (which will soon be streamable with a Prime Video subscription). With that, Reynolds has been promoting the film, which is why he was booked to appear on Live with Kelly and Mark to begin with. Let’s all be grateful Reynolds managed to get there – not just because he kept the show’s crew from being in a bind but also because he gave that A+ text reading.

Most of the time, we can only imagine what it’s like in that relationship, but Ryan Reynolds just dropped an apparent inside scoop, which, maybe unsurprisingly, involves a fair bit of swearing.

Ryan Reynolds was a producer on the new documentary John Candy: I Like Me, about the life of the famous comedic actor. During a recent screening of the film in New Jersey (via The Daily Mail), he spoke a bit about the process of getting all the major stars who were friends and collaborators of John Candy interviewed for the film. Reynolds said that getting a hold of Bill Murray was a particularly difficult task, and when he got the call during an inopportune moment, it apparently resulted in tossing an F-bomb at his wife. Apparently, getting the call from Bill Murray wasn’t a big deal just because getting a call from Bill Murray is always worth freaking out about. Reynolds said that getting a hold of Murray was particularly complicated, as he claims he got the actor’s number from “a friend of a friend of a friend” and that Murray’s voicemail claims the number belongs to a Greek shipping company.

Bill Murray has been staying out of the limelight of late. While he appeared in the recent Ghostbusters movies, he doesn't make movies like he used to. It's certainly possible he might not have returned Reynolds' call for any number of reasons.

The documentary was nearing the point where it would be too late to interview Murray, and not having Bill Murray in a documentary about John Candy would have been truly unfortunate. The pair worked together on SCTV at a few points and made one of John Candy's best movies, Stripes, together.

So when the call came from Bill Murray, of course, Ryan Reynolds freaked out a little bit. It was a call that he’d been hoping for, and no gala event is going to be more important than that.

One hopes Blake Lively didn’t take too much offense at being sworn at. There has allegedly been stress in their relationship of late, largely due to the couple's ongoing legal battle. Reynolds tells the story here like a joke, so hopefully that's how it was taken, even if some reports claim that Lively didn't appreciate Reynolds telling the story.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is always expanding, thanks to new titles hitting theaters and streaming with a Disney+ subscription. Moviegoers who spent years watching the Marvel movies in order know just how popular Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool franchise is, but the actor/filmmaker recently revealed why he throws out the first draft of those movies out. Honestly, the reasoning is pretty legit.

Deadpool & Wolverine broke records at the box office upon its release, with Shawn Levy's blockbuster putting Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman's faux feud on display for audiences. While moviegoers might assume that Reynolds' vision is clear from the jump, an interview with TorontoLife revealed more about how he writes for Wade Wilson. In his words:

Well, my mind is blown. This offers a peek behind the curtain on how Deadpool movies come together, and makes a great deal of sense. Because while all three blockbusters are jam packed with R-rated humor, there' also an emotional story underneath. And that's key to the property's wild success, both critically and at the box office.

In the first Deadpool movie, the story was about Wade Wilson's self-loathing, and the worry that Morena Baccarin's Vanessa wouldn't love him after his appearance was so drastically changed. For the second movie, it was about Cable's tragic backstory and Wade Wilson using his trauma to connect with Julian Dennison's Firefist. And both of these helped to buoy these movies outside of the constant barrage of fourth wall-breaking humor.

Of course, Deadpool & Wolverine brought back Hugh Jackman's Logan, this time a variant from another universe. Rather than being the hero we know and love, this version of Wolverine had failed to save his loved ones and the rest of the X-Men. He was filled with regret and bitterness, which was quite a mix of feelings to be dealing with amidst Wade Wilson's antics.

In the end this story was powerful, and Deadpool & Wolverine showed how much box office power the MCU could still have. Fans are hoping to see its title characters in upcoming Marvel movies, specifically the next two Avengers movies. We'll have to wait and see if/when they actually do.

When Disney acquired Lucasfilm, it did so with plans for a massive expansion to the Star Wars universe on the big screen. While the first batch of films was almost all successful, the franchise hit a snag following the sequel trilogy, which saw multiple potential Star Wars films get announced before quietly disappearing. This makes the recent news that Star Wars: Starfighter is actually filming a pretty big deal.

The upcoming Star Wars movie stars Ryan Gosling and is being directed by Shawn Levy. Being a frequent collaborator with Ryan Reynolds, it’s not exactly a shock that the actor made a point to comment on Levy’s Instagram post that revealed the movie was currently filming in the Mediterranean Sea. However, Reynolds suggested his friend may have been fibbing on the location, as he jokes that the movie is filming on a far less impressive body of water. Reynolds commented…

To be fair, there are no landmarks of any kind in the picture, which just shows Ryan Gosling and co-star Flynn Gray on a platform in some water. It could be Lake Ontario. It could also be a water tank on the Walt Disney Studio lot, or a completely digital creation, and it’s not like you’d be able to tell.

Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds have been a Hollywood power couple of late, with Levy having directed the star in The Adam Project, Free Guy, and Deadpool & Wolverine, the latter film, and its incredible success was likely the reason that Levy has found himself directing a Star Wars movie, something many people have signed on to do, without ever making it to the point where filming commenced.

The two have worked together so often that it’s a bit of a surprise that it’s Ryan Gosling, and not Ryan Reynolds, starring in the new Star Wars: Starfighter movie. Reynolds, for his part, doesn’t appear to want to become part of Star Wars, though he has apparently talked to Shawn Levy about the movie. That said, he apparently did pitch an idea for an R-rated Star Wars film, one that he would write and produce but wouldn’t star in.

If we can’t ever get Ryan Reynolds in a Star Wars movie, then I will take him making sardonic comments about his friend’s adventures in the galaxy instead. I hope this is the first of many Star Wars: Starfighter images that Shawn Levy shares and the first of many jokes from Ryan Reynolds about them.

Wherever Star Wars: Starfighter is filming, whether it’s Lake Ontario or the Mediterranean Sea, the most impressive thing may be that it’s filming on location at all. Considering that so much of modern Star Wars is filmed in a studio using The Volume, a digital backdrop that can recreate essentially any landscape, it’s nice to know that location shooting is still an option.
