When it comes to upcoming book adaptations, readers of the source material typically need to remove themselves, because imagining what the words on the page will look like in real life is too often a let down to the big screen version. The Regretting You movie is no different, but if you’ve wondered how the cast chose to compare the book with the script, we have some insights from them.

During CinemaBlend’s exclusive Regretting You interviews, we spoke to a few of the stars about their relationship with the Colleen Hoover bestseller the romance movie is based on. First, here are Mason Thames’ thoughts:

Regretting You is the second of Colleen Hoover’s novels to get a movie, with last year’s It Ends With Us being the first. Director Josh Boone told us that Hoover was not involved much on set, but he definitely kept her words close, and it offered him a lot of help during the production. Scott Eastwood said this:

Believe it or not, this is a pretty common way for actors to approach book adaptations. Heck, when we talked to Keira Knightley recently for The Woman In Cabin 10, the actress, who has been in a ton of them, said she didn’t even touch the novel. Eastwood decided to stay true to the script over anything else. But his co-star, and daughter on the film, Mckenna Grace was all over the book on set. As she shared with us:

Thames told us that Grace would often point to little details in the book and connect with the director to add them on set. Clearly she was doing her homework on set and cared a lot about giving fans of the book a solid rendition of Clara. (Grace is currently filming The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, so we’d have to imagine she’s got more tabs on set for that, too!)

By their diversity in answers, it’s obvious that there’s not one way to handle being in a book adaptation. Sometimes it’s nice to have both versions to look at, and other times it might be too much, especially when you’re balancing a director’s vision. And as it goes with most movies, not everything made it into the movie – like one version of the adorable ending. Regretting You is now playing in theaters.

It is common knowledge, especially among fans who keep up with upcoming DC movies, that Suicide Squad underwent significant changes before hitting theaters in August of 2016. Following the mixed reception of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice earlier that same year, Warner Bros. decided to rework director David Ayer's darker, grittier cut, which the filmmaker claims is the best comic book movie ever made. The studio's overhaul included the addition of colorful graphics, catchy pop songs, and a more upbeat ending, dramatically altering the film's original tone and narrative.

This drastic transformation disappointed many fans and critics alike, sparking the #ReleaseTheAyerCut movement, which is gaining steam once again. But should the Ayer Cut be released?

Suicide Squad Star Scott Eastwood Calls For The Release Of The Ayer Cut

The debate over releasing the "Ayer Cut" is gaining traction again, fueled by recent comments from Scott Eastwood, one of Suicide Squad's stars. In a recent interview with Comicbookmovie.com, Eastwood, who portrayed Lieutenant GQ Edwards in the movie, expressed his support for releasing the Ayer Cut. The actor has a long working relationship with Ayer going back to their time making 2014's Fury, and he spoke about his admiration for the director’s vision and creative approach. Discussing Suicide Squad's Ayer cut, he told the outlet:

Scott Eastwood’s comments reflect the sentiments of many fans who feel that the theatrical version of Suicide Squad did not do justice to the complex characters and storylines that David Ayer had intended. The actor's comments reignite discussion about the alternate cut, even as the future of the DC Universe undergoes significant changes under James Gunn's direction – but is it something fans should be pushing for?

Could The Ayer Cut Of Suicide Squad Be Confusing Amid The Growth Of The DC Universe?

As James Gunn continues to shape his vision for the future of his upcoming superhero movies, drawing from his experience making The Suicide Squad for the DC Extended Universe, it's unclear if there’s room to revisit past projects like David Ayer's movie. While the movement to release the Ayer Cut has never reached the fever pitch of the Snyder Cut campaign, voices like Scott Eastwood's keep the hashtag #ReleaseTheAyerCut alive, hoping for another shot at showcasing Ayer's original vision.

But let's be honest: dropping the Ayer Cut now could muddy the waters even more for the DC brand, which has already been through a rollercoaster of changes since the Snyder Cut of Justice League and the end of the DC Extended Universe. Releasing Snyder's version of Justice League set a new standard for revisiting and altering past movies, but also layers of confusion to an already complicated timeline. Bringing out another alternate cut could make things even messier, potentially turning off new fans and making it harder for audiences to keep up with the current rebranding and launching of the first era of the DC Universe, titled Chapter One, “Gods and Monsters.”

As Gunn strives to bring clarity and a fresh direction to the DCU, another re-cut might derail those efforts, complicating the continuity and preventing the franchise from establishing a cohesive, unified identity.

We Should Embrace The New Era For The DC Universe 

I think it's time to fully embrace the new chapter that James Gunn is crafting for the DC Universe. This fresh direction is just what the franchise needs to move forward and leave behind the baggage of past controversies and missteps within the DC Extended Universe. With Gunn’s creative vision as the north star, the DCU has a unique opportunity to tell exciting new stories, introduce fresh faces, and reinvent the characters we’ve come to love.

While the Ayer Cut of Suicide Squad may have its appeal with its dark and gritty style, it's not a vision that is designed to align with what James Gunn is setting up for the future. Maybe it's better for the Ayer Cut to remain in our imaginations; I'm more excited about what's on the horizon.

Andie MacDowell And Margaret Qualley (MAID)

According to MAID developer Molly Smith Metzler, it was actually star Margaret Qualley who brought up the idea of casting her own mother, Andie MacDowell, as her character’s mother. The Golden Globe-nominated Four Weddings and Funeral star plays Paula (a woman with severe bipolar disorder) opposite the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood cast member in the Netflix original miniseries based on Stephanie Land’s memoir.

Angelina Jolie And Vivienne Jolie-Pitt (Maleficent)

Vivienne Jolie-Pitt gave her debut (and, so far, sole) onscreen acting performance opposite her mother, Angelina Jolie, in 2014’s Maleficent — a live-action reimagining of Sleeping Beauty from the villain’s perspective. According to Vanity Fair, the then-5-year-old got the part of a younger version of Elle Fanning’s character, Aurora, because other children were too afraid of the Academy Award winner in full makeup and costume in the title role.

Ben And Jerry Stiller And Anne Meara (Various)

Ben Stiller shared the screen with both of his late parents, legendary comedy duo Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara, multiple times — the first being the 1989 mockumentary, That’s Adequate, followed by 1991 horror-comedy, Highway to Hell. Ben later played a sadistic fitness guru who purchases a youth weight loss camp from his parents’ characters in Disney’s 1995 summer comedy movie, Heavyweights, before casting them 2001’s Zoolander, with Jerry as Maury Ballstein and Meara cameoing as an egg-throwing protester.

Brendan, Domhnall, And Brian Gleeson (Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows, Part 1, Frank Of Ireland)

Brendan Gleeson reprised Mad-Eye Moody in the penultimate installment of the Harry Potter movies, which also starred his son, Domhnall, as Ron Weasley’s older brother, Bill, in 2010. More than a decade later, the Academy Award nominee starred opposite the Star Wars movies actor and his younger son, Brian, in an episode of their Amazon Prime comedy series, Frank of Ireland, as a new boyfriend of the title character’s mother.

Blythe Danner And Gwyneth Paltrow (Sylvia)

In 2003, Academy Award winner Gwyneth Paltrow played the title role of a biopic about Sylvia Plath. To play the renowned writer and poet’s mother, Aurelia, Paltrow’s real-life mother, Tony and Emmy Award winner Blythe Danner was cast.

Chris, Tristan, And India Hemsworth (Thor: Love And Thunder)

After his older brother, Luke, portrayed his comic book character in a play in Thor: Ragnarok, Chris Hemsworth made 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder a real family affair. Not only would Luke return, but Chris’s son, Tristan, appeared as the title character’s younger self in a flashback and his daughter, India, played Gorr the God Butcher’s daughter, Love.

Clint And Scott Eastwood (Gran Torino, Trouble With The Curve)

The first time Clint Eastwood acted alongside his son, Scott, was in 2007’s Gran Torino for a scene in which — as the Suicide Squad star claimed to Conan O’Brien — his father threw a few unscripted insults toward his character. Five years later, Scott starred in the baseball movie Trouble with the Curve as a minor leaguer discovered by his father’s character.

Damon Wayans And Damon Wayans Jr. (Blankman, My Wife And Kids, Happy Together)

Daman Wayans Jr. debuted as the younger version of his father’s character — aspiring superhero, Kevin — in the funny ‘90s movie Blankman, before landing a recurring role on his sitcom, My Wife and Kids, and later inviting him to play his dad on his own sitcom, Happy Together. In early 2023, Deadline reported that the Wayans are developing a new sitcom that will pair them up as an on-screen father-son duo once again.

Bruce Willis, Demi Moore, And Rumer Willis (Various)

Rumer Willis’ first two acting gigs were alongside her mother, Demi Moore, as Angela Albertson in the underrated ‘90s movie, Now and Then, and as the daughter of Moore’s character in the classic stripper movie, Striptease. The first time Donald and Kiefer Sutherland appeared in a movie together — namely 1996’s A Time to Kill — Donald played a civil rights lawyer and Kiefer played a vicious white supremacist. Nearly two decades later, the father and son played a father and son in a western called Forsaken.

The Schitt’s Creek cast has more than two related actors in it. Eugene Levy and his son, Dan (who also created the hit sitcom together), play Johnny Rose and his son, David, and Dan’s sister, Sarah, also stars as Café Tropical owner, Twyla Sands.

George And Mayan Lopez (Lopez Vs. Lopez)

Comedian George Lopez teamed up with his daughter, Mayan, and Debby Wolfe to create the NBC sitcom, Lopez vs. Lopez. The series — which  was renewed for a second season, according to Variety — also stars George and Mayan as a father and daughter forced to reconnect after year when they have no choice but to move in together.

Henry And Jane Fonda (On Golden Pond)

The 1981 film adaptation of the acclaimed play On Golden Pond was a very special moment in Henry Fonda’s career. In addition to being his final performance, which earned him a Best Actor Oscar, it saw him share the screen with his real-life daughter, Jane, who played his estranged daughter.

Johnny And Lily-Rose Depp (Tusk, Yoga Hosers)

A nearly unrecognizable Johnny Depp plays Guy LaPointe in Kevin Smith’s bizarre A24 horror movie, 2014’s Tusk, which also stars his daughter, Lily-Rose, as a convenience store employee. When Smith made a spin-off in 2016 focusing on Lily-Rose and Harley Quinn Smith’s characters called Yoga Hosers, Depp reprised the French-Canadian P.I. as well.

Judy Garland And Liza Minnelli (In The Good Old Summertime, The Judy Garland Show)

As The Guardian recalls, the multi-talented Liza Minnelli was just three years old  when she made her acting debut with a brief cameo at the end of 1949’s In the Good Old Summertime, alongside her mother — the iconic Judy Garland. The Wizard of Oz star later invited her daughter to perform with her on her variety program, The Judy Garland Show, in the early 1960s.

Kirk, Diana, Michael, And Cameron Douglas (It Runs In The Family)

Robin And Zelda Williams (In Search Of Dr. Seuss, Nine Months, House Of D)

Zelda Williams had her first taste of show business with her father -- Academy Award winner Robin Williams -- right beside her in the 1994 TV movie In Search of Dr. Seuss and the following year with her small role in the Hugh Grant-led rom-com, Nine Months. Her first starring role in a theatrically released film was in 2004’s House of D, which also marked the third and final time she acted alongside her late father.

Sean And Dylan Penn (Flag Day)

Sean Penn and Robin Wright’s daughter, Dylan Penn, got her start as a model before she took up acting. Her biggest role to date was as the unwitting daughter of a criminal played by Sean in 2021’s Flag Day, which the two-time Academy Award winner also directed.

Sylvester And Sage Stallone (Rocky V, Daylight)

In the Rocky movies’ fifth installment, Rocky Jr. was the debut role of star and director Sylvester Stallone’s real-life son, Sage, who would later appear with his dad in the ‘90s action movie,  Daylight. Sage went on to become the founder of Grindhouse Releasing — which prevented him from reprising his Rocky V role in Rocky Balboa — and, according to CNN, sadly passed away at 36 in 2012.

Thandiwe Newton And Nico Parker (Reminiscence)

Nico Parker — known for Disney’s live-action Dumbo remake and HBO’s The Last of Us cast — is the youngest daughter of actor Thandiwe Newton and filmmaker Ol Parker. However, in the 2021 futuristic noir, Reminiscence, she appeared alongside the Westworld star as a grandmother and granddaughter. 

Tom, Colin, Elizabeth, Chet, And Truman Hanks (Various)

Tom Hanks has shared the screen with all four of his children. He cast Colin Hanks in a small role in That Thing You Do! before appearing alongside him again in 2008’s The Great Buck Howard. Elizabeth Hanks was also in That Thing You Do!, but debuted in Forrest Gump. Chet Hanks has been in Larry Crowne and Greyhound and Truman Hanks normally does technical film work, but has appeared in three of his dad’s movies — News of the World, A Man Called Otto, and Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City.

Will, Jaden, And Willow Smith (The Pursuit Of Happyness, After Earth, I Am Legend)

Jaden Smith has played his father's onscreen son in two of Will Smith's movies — the first being his debut role in 2006’s The Pursuit of Happyness and the second in the M. Night Shyamalan movie, After Earth. Willow Smith also made her acting debut as her father’s daughter in a heartbreaking flashback sequence from 2007’s I Am Legend.

If you're familiar with some or all of these films, you may agree that much of these parent-child pairings demonstrate the magic that can come from family members working together on screen. 

Every story has an ending, and after more than two decades of entertaining moviegoing audiences, the main Fast & Furious saga is beginning its final lap to the finish line. Many of your favorites will be back for the penultimate entry, Fast & Furious 10, a.k.a. Fast X, including someone who skipped out on last year’s F9. Folks, Scott Eastwood’s Little Nobody is back in play for this upcoming movie.

Having been introduced in 2017’s The Fate of the Furious as a government agent who was working closely with Kurt Russell’s Mr. Nobody, Little Nobody aided the Fast & Furious protagonists in their conflict against Charlize Theron’s Cipher. Now THR has shared that Scott Eastwood (who’s also known from movies like Suicide Squad and Pacific Rim: Uprising) has signed on to reprise this character for Fast X. Will this be the movie where we finally learn Little Nobody’s name?

It doesn’t hurt to have another ally in the fight against evil, and while Little Nobody wasn’t always on board for the main characters’ methods, he was ultimately helped them emerge victorious in The Fate of the Furious. So here’s hoping he’s still on their side during the events of Fast X, as opposed to having been turned and now working against the interests of Dominic Toretto and the ol’ gang. What makes Little Nobody’s return more intriguing is that we still don’t where we stand with Mr. Nobody following after went down in F9.

Although Kurt Russell reprised Mr. Nobody in F9 for a flashback showing how he helped Han Lue fake his death in Tokyo, within the present day storyline, he was nowhere to be seen. Mr. Nobody had been aboard the transport plane carrying Cipher, but it was shot down by rogue agents, who abducted the criminal mastermind and brought her to Thue Ersted Rasmussen’s Otto, who was in cahoots with John Cena’s Jakob Toretto. When Dom, Letty, Roman, Tej and Ramsey went to investigate the plane crash, Mr. Nobody wasn’t around, and they weren’t able to look for him because they were soon attacked by Jakob and his team of mercenaries. By the time F9 ended, it remained unclear what happened to Mr. Nobody.

There’s been no mention of Kurt Russell appearing in Fast X, so what’s the deal? Is Mr. Nobody dead, and has Little Nobody taken over as the main government liaison for Dominic Toretto’s team? Or is Mr. Nobody still out there and Little Nobody requires the team’s help with finding him? I’m more inclined towards the latter since if the Fast & Furious franchise wanted to kill off Mr. Nobody, they’d likely bring back Russell to shoot a death scene rather than just take his character out offscreen. As such, maybe Russell will appear in Fast X and it’s simply being kept secret for now, or maybe he won’t be back until Fast & Furious 11, the final entry.

In any case, we can now count Scott Eastwood as being part of the Fast X cast, which also includes newcomers Jason Momoa (who’s playing a villain), Daniela Melchior, Brie Larson and Alan Ritchson. The blockbuster hits theaters on May 19, 2023, and is now being directed by Louis Leterrier following Justin Lin’s exit.

The DC movies have been on a roll over the past few years, but the first few installments were somewhat bumpy rides. David Ayer’s 2016 blockbuster Suicide Squad failed to resonate with audiences, with the filmmaker citing studio interference for blurring his original vision. And franchise alum Scott Eastwood has explained how his father Clint Eastwood influenced his decision not to return for The Suicide Squad.

James Gunn continues the Task Force X franchise with last year’s The Suicide Squad, which was a reboot/sequel to the original movie. A number of original stars returned for that follow-up, but Scott Eastwood did not reprise his role as GQ Edwards. He recently spoke to this decision, saying:

Well, there you have it. Scott Eastwood wasn’t one of the leading actors of the original Suicide Squad movie, which is likely what resulted in a disappointing paycheck. And it seems he had to make the best fiscal decision when turning down an opportunity to join James Gunn’s cast for The Suicide Squad.

Scott Eastwood’s comments about his role in the DCEU come from a recent interview with Insider, where he was refreshingly honest about his absence in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. Warner Bros. didn’t issue a response to the claim about a pay dispute, but it's a fairly common reason for actors to part ways with a project. Although his decision was also made possible thanks to advice by the great Clint Eastwood.

Later in that same interview, Scott Eastwood further explained his decision to step away from the Suicide Squad franchise. He went to his father Clint Eastwood for advice about playing GQ Edwards, where the acclaimed actor-director offered his perspective. As Scott put it,

Sometimes actors aren’t happy with their pay, but a role is worth it. Since this seemingly wasn’t the case for Scott Eastwood, he decided to step away from his role in the DCEU. I have to wonder what type of role he might have had in James Gunn’s take on the franchise, especially since the Guardians of the Galaxy director killed so many characters off. In the meantime, fans are hoping to see Eastwood pivot to the MCU, possibly as the new Wolverine.

It’s well known that Shia LaBeouf has gone to dangerous lengths for his roles. And that really became apparent in his work on David Ayer’s 2014 film Fury, where the actor played a member of a tank crew in World War II alongside Brad Pitt, Logan Lerman, Michael Peña, Jon Bernthal and Scott Eastwood. When Eastwood recently reflected on being on the set of the film, he recalled a “volatile” moment between him and LaBeouf that got out of hand and even involved Pitt.

Scott Eastwood recently shared that while he was on the set of Fury, his character had a moment on set where he was supposed to spit on the tank the main crew of actors lived on in the film. However, the beat led to an uncomfortable on-set moment between him and Shia LaBeouf. In Eastwood’s words: 

Scott Eastwood had a smaller role in Fury, whereas the main crew playing the soldiers who live in the tank had four months of preparation together. Said prep involved David Ayer sending them to a boot camp run by Navy Seals. It was there that the group spent extended periods in the tank together (in which some were fighting each other). Eastwood made some points to Insider about on-set environments: 

Brad Pitt previously told the story of Scott Eastwood and Shia LaBeouf’s on-set moment. While promoting the movie and speaking to GQ, the Oscar winner explained what happened:  

It sounds like Scott Eastwood was entering a particular intense set, where the main stars were really immersed in their characters and bonds as a “tank family.” Pitt continued with these words: 

The “volatile” moment the actor had to break up was the result of a misunderstanding and perhaps some blurred lines between reality and the scenes that needed to be shot for Fury. Along with this incident on set, Shia LaBeouf had a dentist pull his actual tooth and the actor additionally used a knife to cut his face to make the character look more “real.” 

In the past couple years, actor has been charged with petty theft and battery after a physical altercation in Los Angeles. He is additionally being sued by his ex FKA Twigs, who is charging him on sexual assault, battery, emotional distress, also noting that he once bragged about killing stray dogs to get into a dark place for a character.

The latest on Shia LaBeouf is he's reportedly expecting his first child with actress Mia Goth and reportedly could star in his next movie, After Exile, with Robert DeNiro. Scott Eastwood’s most recent film is a romantic comedy called I Want You Back alongside Jenny Slate, Charlie Day, Gina Rodriguez and Manny Jacinto, which is available to stream with an Amazon Prime subscription.

There have been a lot of great romantic comedies released over the years that make the most out of the conventional setup of boy meets girl, boy falls in love with girl, boy and girl get married and live happily ever after. And although the new Amazon Prime Video original, I Want You Back, starts off on that path most traveled, it quickly diverts from its course and presents audiences with a setup that has the potential to work wonders.

The first of the two leads, Peter, is portrayed in the I Want You Back cast by Charlie Day, who has continued to be one of the funniest (and hardest working) actors in show business since making a name for himself as Charlie Kelly on the long-running comedy series, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Outside of Paddy’s Pub, you’ve seen Day in various comedy movies like the Horrible Bosses franchise, heard his voice in multiple Lego movies, and even in action thrillers like Hotel Artemis and Pacific Rim. Day will next appear in the upcoming Super Mario Bros. movie alongside just about everyone else in Hollywood.

Jenny Slate (Emma)

Jenny Slate (who has some pretty amazing stories about her career) co-leads I Want You Back as Emma, the latest in a long-line of characters the former Saturday Night Live featured player has portrayed in romantic comedies.

Over the years, Slate has appeared in comedies like Obvious Child, My Blind Brother, and Landline while also diving into the world of drama with the likes of Gifted and The Sunlit Night. And then there are her animated features, including Despicable Me 3, The Secret Life of Pets, and The Lego Batman Movie.

Gina Rodriguez (Anne)

Taking on the role of Anne, Peter’s ex-girlfriend in I Want You Back, is Gina Rodriguez, who won a Golden Globe in 2015 for her star-making performance on Jane the Virgin.

Throughout her career, Rodriguez has given great performances in Annihilation and Miss Bala, as well as animated movies like Ferdinand, Smallfoot, and Scoob!, and animated shows like Big Mouth, Elena of Avalor, and Carmen Sandiego.

Scott Eastwood (Noah)

Stepping in as Noah, Emma’s physical trainer ex-boyfriend in I Want You Back, is Scott Eastwood, who shows off his comedy chops after making a career out of playing serious characters over the years.

The son of Hollywood legend Clint Eastwood has crossed paths with Dominic Toretto in the Fast & Furious franchise, worked with Task Force X in Suicide Squad, and appeared in a number of his father’s movies, like Flags of Our Fathers and Gran Torino. He also popped up in Taylor Swift’s 2015 video for “Wildest Dreams,” portraying the singer-songwriter’s on-screen love interest.

Manny Jacinto (Logan)

Taking on the role of Logan, Anne’s new boyfriend in I Want You Back, is Manny Jacinto, one of the former mainstays of The Good Place cast.

Throughout his career, Jacinto has popped up in movies like Bad Times at the El Royale and Belle, and shows like Supernatural, Brand New Cherry Flavor, and Nine Perfect Strangers. Expect to see Jacinto in the long-awaited Tom Cruise summer blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick, which is slated for release in May 2022.

Clark Backo (Ginny)

Clark Backo shows up in the I Want You Back cast as Ginny, Noah’s new girlfriend after he breaks things off with Emma.

If you are one of those diehard fans of all things Letterkenny, then Backo will be immediately recognizable due to her portrayal of Rosie on the Canadian cult comedy series. She has also had recurring roles on Designated Survivor, 21 Thunder, and Supernatural, as well as one-off appearances on everything from Station Eleven to The Girlfriend Experience, and The Handmaid’s Tale to Hemlock Grove, to name just a few.

Jami Gertz (Rita)

Taking on the role of Rita, Peter’s boss in I Want You Back, is none other than Jami Gertz, who has been a memorable part of the film and television industry going back over 40 years at this point in her career.

Over the years, Gertz has gone from appearing in classic ‘80s sitcoms like Square Pegs, The Facts of Life, and Family Ties, to shows like Ally McBeal, The Neighbors, and Still Standing in the first two decades of the 21st Century. Her film contributions range from Sixteen Candles to Twister, and The Lost Boys to Less Than Zero, with multiple other projects before and since.

Dylan Gelula (Lisa)

Dylan Gelula shows up in I Want You Back as Lisa, one of Emma’s two college-aged roommates, the latest in a healthy series of appearances in film and television comedy projects.

Starting with the TV side of her career, Gelula has had recurring or major roles on Chasing Life, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Filthy Preppy Teens, Casual, and most recently, Shameless, where she played Megan near the end of beloved comedy’s run on Showtime. Her film credits include Lady in the Water, Under the Eiffel Tower, Her Smell, and Horse Girl

Mason Gooding (Paul)

Taking on the role of Emma’s other roommate, Paul, in I Want You Back, is Mason Gooding, who has been on an absolute tear since breaking out with a three-episode run on the HBO sports comedy series, Ballers, back in 2018.

Since then, the son of Cuba Gooding Jr. has appeared on shows like The Good Doctor, Everything’s Gonna Be Okay, Star Trek: Picard, and Love, Victor, on which he plays Andrew. Gooding’s film work is just as impressive, if not more, with movies like Booksmart, Let It Snow, and the 2022 continuation of the Scream franchise. He’s next set to appear in the upcoming sci-fi romantic comedy, Moonshot.

Isabel May (Leighton)

Showing up briefly as Leighton, one of partygoers who take Peter and Noah on a ridiculous adventure in I Want You Back, is Isabel May, who has an absurd success rate with the shows on which she has appeared the past few years.

May’s career really took off in 2018 when she earned the role of Katie Cooper on the Netflix comedy series, Alexa & Kate. She followed that up with a recurring role as Veronica Duncan on Young Sheldon. If neither of those ring a bell, then maybe May’s most recent project, the Yellowstone prequel, 1883, might ring a bell. Bell leads the Paramount+ original series as the tough-as-nails Elsa Dutton.

Giselle Torres (Chloe)

Giselle Torres shows up in I Want You Back as Chloe, another one of the partiers who pick up Peter and Noah on their night of adventures.

Prior to joining the cast of the new Amazon original romantic comedy, Torres appeared in a number of short films like Momo, The Descendants, and Island Dreams before landing roles on shows like Speechless, Solve, and The Big Show Show (which I watched all in one sitting), and movies like The Princess Cut 2 (with a sequel on the way), Misfit, and South Beach Love.

Luke David Blumm (Trevor)

Luke David Blumm appears in the I Want You Back cast as Trevor, a troubled youth who gives Emma a new purpose in life after she meets him at Logan’s school. 

Although his career only goes back a few years at this point, Blumm has already put together a surprisingly rich filmography with appearances in some of the biggest shows and well-received movies in recent memory. Starting with this TV contributions, the young actor has appeared on The Walking Dead, The Sinner, and Watchmen. On top of that, Blumm has popped up in The King of Staten Island. He’ll soon appear in Where the Crawdads Sing and Lola James. Expect more in the coming years.

Pete Davidson (Jase)

And, last but certainly not least, is Pete Davidson who portrays Jase, the dealer (he's featured in one of the movie's trailers) who opens Peter’s mind to the world of designer drugs in I Want You Back. You could be blind, deaf, and live under a rock and you would still know about Davidson at this point, even if you actively avoid all the headlines he makes.

A mainstay of Saturday Night Live since 2014, Davidson has been viewed as one of the funniest and most charismatic members of the cast for most of his run on the sketch comedy program. In addition to SNL, Davidson has appeared on shows like Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Guest Book, The Real Bros of Simi Valley, and The Freak Brothers, to name only a few. His film credits include Trainwreck, The Dirt, the semi-autobiographical The King of Staten Island, and James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a constantly growing place, and Phase Four has already been a doozy. But there are a number of beloved characters that fans are hoping to see make their entrance, especially the X-Men. And now we can see what actor Scott Eastwood might look like as Wolverine in the MCU.

Ever since Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, moviegoers have been anxiously waiting for mutants to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Whenever this happens, an actor will likely replace Hugh Jackman as Logan/Wolverine. There are a number of familiar names swirling, and now we can see what Scott Eastwood might look like as the beloved clawed hero. Check it out below,

I mean, how cool is that? While it’s currently unclear if/when the X-Men will finally join the MCU, you can’t deny that Scott Eastwood would look awesome as Wolverine. But the Suicide Squad actor is just one familiar face that fans have been theorizing might take on the role made famous by Hugh Jackman.

They’ve amassed 140k followers thanks to artwork featuring characters from the MCU, DCEU and Star Wars. And this image of Scott Eastwood is sure to inspire some new fan theories of the actor possibly playing Wolverine.

In the image we see a black and white rendering of Scott Eastwood as Wolverine. He’s wearing Logan’s casual clothing, and therefore isn’t rocking his beloved yellow super suit. But comic book purists would definitely be happy with this image of Eastwood, as he’s rocking Logan’s signature wild haircut. Seriously, that is some big hair.

Whoever ends up taking on the role will have some big shoes (and claws) to fill. Hugh Jackman played the fan favorite mutant for over a decade, ultimately ending with his acclaimed work on James Mangold’s Logan. But whenever the X-Men join the MCU, it’s hard to imagine the team of mutants without the clawed hero.

As previously mentioned, a number of actors’ names have been thrown around to possibly replace Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in the MCU. X-Men: The First Class director Matthew Vaughn recently offered a trio of names: Tom Hardy, Taron Egerton, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. We’ll just have to wait and see if Kevin Feige picks a big name star, or finds an knowns to play mutants. Regardless, any casting is sure to immediately break the internet.

This weekend, Guy Ritchie and Jason Statham finally reunite for the new action-thriller, Wrath of Man, an English-language remake of 2004's French drama-thriller, Cash Truck. Having collaborated with the brooding action star with Lock, Star, and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, and Revolver, fans are hoping that this star-driven action vehicle will be a return-to-form for its lead actor and hard-working co-writer/director. It's too early to know whether or not that's the case, but we do know that Ritchie has assembled another strong cast for this latest Statham project. Co-starring Holt McCallany, Josh Hartnett, Eddie Marsan, Scott Eastwood, and Post Malone, among several more recognizable faces, you've been acquainted with these heavy-hitting actors, and if you're wondering why they look familiar, we're here to help. Here's where you've seen Wrath of Man's cast before.

Jason Statham (Harry “H” Hill)

As Harry "H" Hill, a cold and mysterious stranger hired to transport hundreds of millions of dollars around Los Angeles each week, Jason Statham plays our rough-and-tumble protagonist in Guy Ritchie's Wrath of Man. This is the fourth collaboration between Statham and Ritchie. Previously, the actor stole the show by playing Bacon in Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels. Later, Statham starred in Snatch and Revolver. Next, the action star and the writer-director will make their fifth collaboration with the upcoming action-thriller that's reportedly titled Five Eyes, which Statham produced.

Austin “Post Malone” Post (Robber #6)

As a character known as Robber #6, rapper Austin Post, i.e. Post Malone, continues to build his screen resume with Guy Ritchie's Wrath of Man. Better known for his hit singles like "Rockstar," "Psycho," and "Circles," to name only a few, Post Malone began his acting career with a voice role in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, where he also contributed "Sunflower" alongside Swae Lee. Last year, the musician made his live-action screen debut with a supporting role in Netflix's Spenser Confidential.

Rob Delaney (Boss Blake Halls)

In the role of Boss Blake Halls, Rob Delaney is also seen in Wrath of Man. Most notably, Delaney is the Emmy-nominated co-writer, co-creator, and co-star of Channel 4's acclaimed dramedy series, Catastrophe. The actor can also be seen in shows like Key & Peele, Burning Love, Cougar Town, Trust, and The Michael J. Fox Show. Outside of TV, Delaney memorably played Peter in Deadpool 2. He also played Agent Loeb in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw and Gil Norman in Bombshell. Furthermore, his other film credits include Last Christmas, The Hustle, Life After Beth, and this year's Tom & Jerry. While most of the 2020 slate of theatrical debuts has been postponed to later in the year, if not into 2021 outright, movies like director Rod Lurie’s military drama The Outpost are making the best of the current situation. The film debuted in drive-in theaters last weekend, as well as on all major VOD platforms, exemplifying how new releases are dealing with this brave new world of theatrical exhibition. Unfortunately, that kind of makes it hard to tell exactly how well The Outpost did in terms of the more traditional measures of success. But if you ask Lurie his feelings on the matter, he’d tell you another benchmark is more important to him.

In a guest column for Deadline, Rod Lurie dissected the matter of just how to measure The Outpost’s actual imprint on the theatrical market. The conclusions he went on to draw about the performance of the movie, starring The Fate of the Furious’ Scott Eastwood, The Dead Don’t Die’s Caleb Landry Jones, and Pirates of the Caribbean star Orlando Bloom were very interesting indicators of the current market. Lurie’s initial thoughts were the following:

Certified fresh at 90%, with an iTunes topping debut and a distributor’s record added to its credit, it sounds like The Outpost is indeed a success. Based on a true story, which was chronicled in the book of the same name by CNN journalist Jake Tapper, the film chronicles 2009’s harrowing Battle of Kamdesh; a skirmish that saw 53 U.S. soldiers facing off against an army of insurgents that severely outnumbered their own ranks, at the location that’s now come to be known as Combat Outpost Keating.

Because of the subject matter, as well as his own personal background as a graduate of United States Military Academy West Point, Rod Lurie doesn’t see the standard business metrics that The Outpost would hope to hit in the world of traditional exhibition as his endgame. Rather, he hopes to have done right by a very important group of people close to the subject matter:

In its original incarnation, The Outpost would have been a big studio film with Sam Raimi attached to direct as initially intended. Instead, the story of Combat Outpost Keating and it’s the brave warfighters who swore to protect it, became an independent hit at a time when the world could use a story of iinspiration. So long as the men and women who served or knew those that served in this instance of combat feel their story was told with reverence and honor, Rod Lurie will feel that it was worth it. You can judge for yourself, as The Outpost is currently available in select theatrical venues, as well as through major VOD retailers for rental or purchase.

How is it possible that Clint Eastwood is 90-years-old? The man just directed a movie that was released only a few months ago, and a year before that he directed himself in a movie that he starred in. And yet, it seems that it must be true and Clint Eastwood did that work in his late 80s, as yesterday, the Oscar winner celebrated his 90th birthday. Though, celebrated, as it turns out, may be something of an overstatement

A lot of his fans will be happy to celebrate the life of the popular actor and director, but apparently the main himself is a bit less excited. Clint Eastwood's son, the actor Scott Eastwood, recently revealed that his dad isn't a big fan of birthdays, though that wasn't going to stop them from celebrating him, at least a little. It doesn't sound like Clint Eastwood's aversion to birthdays is a recent thing as he's gotten older, but a general feeling he's always had. A lot of people just don't get in to celebrating birthdays, at least their own if not others, and apparently Clint is one of these. Hopefully he doesn't mind too much that his family is going to make at least a small deal out of it. I mean, if the cake is good, who cares why it's there, right?

Still, Clint Eastwood's career is one worth celebrating. From his time making westerns as the Man With No Name to his creation of iconic characters like Dirty Harry, to his directorial work including his Oscar-winning Unforgiven. Clint Eastwood has assembled an incredible life on the screen that dates back to 1955.

Clint Eastwood's most recent movie was Richard Jewell, which told the story of the security guard at the 1996 Olympic Games who was falsely accused of planting a bomb. The movie earned Kathy Bates an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

It's unclear where that career goes from here. At this moment, Clint Eastwood doesn't have any confirmed acting or directing jobs on the horizon that we're aware of. Although, certainly, like every other film production around the world, anything that he might have been working on is now on hold. Eastwood recently insisted he was not planning to retire, so one can guess that he either has something he's currently working on, or is looking around for his next gig.

Whether or not we've seen the end of Clint Eastwood's career, we can certainly celebrate what he's done in his 90 years.

There has been a lot of discussion recently about who will play Wolverine once the X-Men make the jump the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A whole host of names have been thrown out there and will continue to be until someone gets officially selected for an adamantium skeletal upgrade. One name that has been in the conversation for a while now is Scott Eastwood who, judging by some fan art, could definitely look the part. Check it out:

It’s awesome how fan art out has brought potential Logan actors to life, and each artists' styles portray Wolverine a little differently. This piece from Barrett Digital shows Scott Eastwood as Wolverine. He's not in his berserker mode, but appears to be the hard living, world-weary roughneck he is. With whiskey in front of him and the character’s trademark cigar in hand, Scott Eastwood definitely passes as the fan favorite mutant.

If Marvel decides to bring the character back closer to his comic book stature, he is a little tall for Wolverine at 5’11. But this fan art shows that Scott Eastwood can definitely pull of the grizzled look required to play him. Which makes sense considering that he’s the son of Dirty Harry himself, Clint Eastwood. Scott is also young enough that he could theoretically be in the role for a while.

This isn’t just random fan speculation, or the product of a rumor mill started by a joke (as was the case with Daniel Radcliffe), Scott Eastwood actually wants to play Wolverine. The actor has expressed interest in the past, which has prompted more than one bit of fan art showing him in the role. The above piece just being the latest one.

Scott Eastwood’s desire to play Wolverine doesn’t mean that he will get to, but it is exciting that someone who is a genuine fan of the character is expressing interest in the role. Alongside Scott Eastwood, some other names that have been thrown out there, including Daniel Radcliffe and Zac Efron. Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld rebukes those candidates, and probably wouldn’t approve of Eastwood either, preferring the next Wolverine be played by an unknown actor.

These conversations are all likely premature, given the fact that the Disney-Fox deal isn’t even finalized yet. Not only is the ink not dry, it hasn’t even left the pen. It seems like a foregone conclusion it will happen sometime this year, but like the future of much of the MCU post-Avengers: Endgame, we don’t know how soon Marvel will bring back the X-Men and whether or not Wolverine will be a part of that first wave.

The casting of the next Wolverine is set to be one of the more fascinating and discussed topics in this comic book movie age. I would argue it might even eclipse the question of who will play the next Bruce Wayne in Matt Reeves’ Batman movie. After all, there have been many cinematic Batmen, but only one Wolverine. Hugh Jackman so embodied the role that seeing another actor don the claws is both an exciting and nervous prospect.

Hugh Jackman has hung up his claws following his performance in the Oscar-nominated Logan, and while there is a very, very slim chance that he may not be done, someone else will likely be taking over the role of Wolverine in the near future. It's not clear which actor will be the lucky one to take on the comic book character, but Scott Eastwood has voiced a repeated interest. Eastwood would be an interesting choice, but for anyone who was having trouble picturing the actor in the role, one fan artist has got you covered.

BossLogic, known across the internet for his concept artwork of celebrities as superheroes, has turned his sights on Scott Eastwood. Previously, the artist envisioned Eastwood in the full Wolverine costume, but this time he puts the actor in the classic tank top and jeans. Admittingly, Eastwood looks pretty good as the character. I don't think Eastwood's neck and arm are quite that hairy, but it's the beard and hairstyle that really sell it for me. However, just because he looks great doesn't mean he'll be great in the role, but people were originally skeptical of Hugh Jackman, too.

For his part, Scott Eastwood is still interested in playing Wolverine. He recently said that he'd be "100% down" to play the part and that Wolverine was his favorite comic book character. So, the passion seems to be there at least. Whether or not Eastwood will get his shot is a bit more debatable due to the overall uncertainty of the future of the X-Men franchise.

Following the historic deal in which Disney bought Fox, the X-Men will be eventually making their way over to the MCU. However, that's still likely a few years away and Fox isn't going to sit on its hands waiting for a deal that might not even be approved. It's unclear when or how Wolverine will make his grand reappearance. For a long time, he was the main character of the X-Men movies, but the series has turned the focus on spin-off films in order to split the focus on new characters. The wonky continuity of the X-verse could allow a new actor to step in or an entirely new version of the character could debut in the MCU.

Wolverine was already a prominent X-Men character before the X-Men film series began, but Hugh Jackman's tenure as the character brought him to new heights of popularity. After playing Wolverine for nearly two decades, Hugh Jackman hung up the adamanitum claws last year in Logan. While the future of the X-Men film series is currently Wolverine-less, it stands to reason that there will likely come a time when the clawed mutant is recast. The Fate of the Furious' Scott Eastwood has previously expressed interest in taking over as Wolverine, and he's still keen on making that happen. Eastwood recently said:

Scott Eastwood already has a little superhero movie experience under his belt from playing Lieutenant GQ Edwards in 2016's Suicide Squad, but he isn't opposed to starring in another superhero movie if the opportunity presents itself. When Screen Rant mentioned how many people have fan-casted him as Wolverine, Eastwood reaffirmed how much he would like to play Wolverine somewhere down the line. Eastwood certainly isn't the only actor who has thrown their hat into the ring to play Wolverine for a new generation, but if he bulks up a little bit, grows the character's trademark beard/sideburns combo and works on channeling the mutant's berserker rage, then he could potentially make a worthy successor to Jackman.

Wolverine was arguably the most important character of the X-Men film series for a long time, with Hugh Jackman appearing in all but one of the first 10 movies (though he did "cameo" in a People Magazine issue in Deadpool), and of those nine, he was the lead character in all but X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Apocalypse. Jackman's Wolverine died at the end of Logan when he sacrificed his life to prevent his monstrous clone, X-24, from killing Laura and the other adolescent mutants. We're now entering a new era where Wolverine won't be involved with any of the main movies or spinoffs, but given this franchise's loose continuity, as well as the possibility that it could be rebooted, don't be surprised if one day Scott Eastwood or someone else is hired to give Wolverine new life in a cinematic setting.

Between the Marvel Cinematic Universe, DC Extended Universe, and X-Men franchise, there is no shortage of comic book movies arriving in theaters. And with so many superhero adaptations currently being green lit from studios, actors have been jumping from one universe to another. Actor Scott Eastwood is hankering to do just that, as he's expressed interest in taking on the role of Wolverine in X-Men, since Hugh Jackman has finally hung up his claws and retired from the character. And now one concept artist has rendered what he might look like, and it's badass. Check it out.

Yeah, he looks friggin' awesome. Let's break down this awesome design, created by artist Boss Logic.

To start, Scott Eastwood's physicality is quite different from Hugh Jackman's typical appearance as the character. While he's a bit shorter than Jackman (and therefore close to Wolverine's comic book height), he's also more lean than the Logan we know and love. Jackman typically plays the role with an extremely bulked up physique, which helped make the character so fierce and terrifying to his foes. Eastwood is a bit more cut in the image, but he would no doubt gain some weight if he landed the role.

What is perhaps the most exciting about the above image is the colorful costume design. One way that the X-Men franchise has consistently disappointed comic book purists is with its dark and somewhat boring costumes. In every film, the characters wear all black costumes that don't express their individuality or specific mutant powers. In the comics, the X-Men's outfits are more of a reflection of who they are, which is why the fandom has been disappointed with the team's costumes in the past six films.

But this type of colorful costume may very well show up in the upcoming X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Because while X-Men: Apocalypse gave the X-Men matching (boring) black flight suits, the final scene debuted new exciting costumes for the cast. These were more faithful to the comics, with each hero's costume being more colorful and individualized. If the next sequel will build upon the ending of Apocalypse, then perhaps we can expect colorful costumes. Now all we need is a new Wolverine so his yellow suit will finally show up in live-action.

Scott Eastwood made his hopes to play Wolverine clear months ago, but the studio doesn't currently have any plans to bring back the fan favorite character. Eastwood made his DCEU debut last year with a supporting role in Suicide Squad. And since he was killed off in the film's final act, Eastwood is available to switch over the Marvel side of things.

In 2001, if you were to tell us that the Fast and Furious series would go on to become one of the most successful film franchises in the modern Hollywood landscape, we're not sure that we would have believed you. The car racing franchise has gradually evolved beyond its street-level roots, and shows no fear of adapting to the changing of the times. As a result of that willingness to change (while still retaining a core theme of family) the Fast and Furious franchise has handily become a significant win for Universal and especially the films’ star, Vin Diesel.

Now, coming off the heels of multiple billion-dollar successes at the box office, all eyes are on the long-awaited F9 (also known as Fast and Furious 9) and how the franchise aims to reach new heights with one of the first big theatrical releases since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. And while it has seemed like we would never get to see F9, in theaters at least, the time has finally come for the star-studded and action-packed spectacle to be released.

The F9 Release Date Is Set For June 25, 2021

By the time F9 races into theaters on June 25, 2021, it will be more than two years later than originally expected when the ninth installment in the Fast and Furious franchise was announced several years ago. Over the past couple years, F9 has jumped from one release date to the next for a myriad of reasons ranging from the debut of Hobbs and Shaw in 2019 to the COVID-19 pandemic forcing Universal to reshuffle its schedule on multiple occasions. F9 was previously scheduled to premiere May 22, 2020, April 2, 2021, and May 28, 2021 before landing on the current June 25, 2021 date.

The F9 Cast Includes Vin Diesel, Charlize Theron And John Cena

The F9 cast is stacked, even for Fast and Furious standards, and is once again being led by Vin Diesel, who is returning to play “Mr. Quarter-Mile At A Time” Dominic Toretto. Instead of going face-to-face with Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) this time around, the franchise star will cross paths with his long lost brother, Jakob, played by John Cena, who is teaming up with the Toretto crew’s enemy from Fate of the Furious, Cipher, once again played by Charlize Theron.

In addition to the big-name talent mentioned up above, F9 will also see the return of much of the Toretto crew, including Letty Ortiz (Michelle Rodriguez), Roman Pearce (Tyrese Gibson), Tej Parker (Chris “Ludacris” Bridges), Mia Toretto (Jordana Brewster), Ramsey (Nathalie Emmanuel), and a back-from-the-dead Han Lue (Sung Kang). Magdalene “Queenie” Shaw (Helen Mirren) will also be returning to the franchise with F9.

F9 Follows Dominic Toretto As He Confronts Ghosts From His Past

The Fast and Furious franchise is at its best when it’s dealing with family matters, and that will once again be the case in the upcoming F9. Previous installments have seen the expansion of the Hobbs and Shaw families, but this time around, the Toretto family is growing, for better or worse. And while those reunions have been a merry good time in the past, it doesn’t look like Jakob Toretto (John Cena) is looking to catch up with his older brother, Dom and kick back with a few Coronas.

When F9 starts up, Dom and crew will face off with the younger Toretto brother, now a deadly assassin, who has teamed up with Cipher (Charlize Theron) to settle an old grudge shared by the not-so-close family members. With two ghosts of Dom’s past brought together by a common enemy, this could be the street racer-turned-superhero’s biggest fight yet.

Justin Lin Made His Fast And Furious Return To Direct F9

The mainline Fast and Furious series was most recently helmed by Straight Outta Compton's F. Gary Gray, and before that, it found itself in the hands of The Conjuring's James Wan. However, with the ninth film in the franchise upon us, Universal wants to go back to a formula that has worked time and time again. Justin Lin — who helmed every film from Tokyo Drift through Fast and Furious 6 -- is back in the director's chair for F9, making this the first movie he's directed since 2016's Star Trek Beyond. But this isn’t a one-time return for Lin as he will be returning to helm the 10th installment in the franchise in the near future.

F9 Is Rated PG-13

To date, every entry in the Fast and Furious franchise has received a PG-13 rating from the MPAA, and that will again be the case when F9 is released in July 2021. According to the Certification and Rating Administration, the ninth installment in the saga will have a PG-13 rating for sequences of violence and action, and language.

Finally, F9 Is Taking The Franchise To Outer Space

In a franchise that has continued to up the ante with its outlandish and logic-defying stunts over the past 20 years, it was only a matter of time before Fast and Furious set out for the final frontier. Well, that time has finally come for Dominic Toretto and company to take their adventures out of this world, literally, as F9 will take the franchise to outer space.

What initially started out as a joke by Fast and Furious fans has quickly become a reality, first when Michelle Rodriguez seemingly confirmed the rumor in September 2020, and then when the April 2021 trailer dropped, showing Roman Pearce (Tyrese Gibson) and Tej Parker (Chris “Ludacris” Bridges) preparing to leave the atmosphere, spacesuits and all.

What’s Next For The Fast And Furious Franchise?

The Fast and Furious franchise has become one of the biggest cash cows for Universal over the past decade, consistently bringing in bank at the box office. Since the release of Fast Five in 2011, none of the movies in the series have brought in less than $626 million worldwide, with Fast and Furious 7 and The Fate of the Furious bringing in $1.5 billion and $1.2 billion respectively. That being said, F9 is far from the final installment in Fast Saga.

There are already plans for a Fast and Furious 10 (which was initially set for a 2021 release before being postponed), with Justin Lin returning to direct. Then there is the long-rumored female-led Fast and Furious spinoff movie, as well as Hobbs and Shaw 2, which is currently in the early stages of development. By the sounds of it, we’ll be watching Dominic Toretto and crew take on another series of adventures one quarter-mile at a time.

Last year, Scott Eastwood made his first contribution to the superhero movie genre when he appeared in Suicide Squad as Lieutenant "GQ" Edwards, a Navy SEAL assigned to Rick Flag during the movie's main mission. Edwards wasn't nearly as prominent alongside the DC movie's main players, but with his Hollywood profile slowly rising thanks to movies like The Fate of the Furious, Eastwood is interested in eventually playing an actual superhero, with his eyes specifically set on Wolverine. As he responded when asked who he would want to play:

Actors naming off comic book characters they would like to play in the future is nothing new, but now that Scott Eastwood has named Wolverine as his personal pick during an interview with Comicbook.com, we can see him as one of the few performers who could potentially pull off their ideal character. All he needs to do is bulk up a little bit, keep the beard/sideburn combo he had in Suicide Squad and work on channeling a berserker rage for select scenes, and he'd be good to go for one of the X-Men movies.

It helps that there's an opening for a new Wolverine now that Hugh Jackman vacated the role. Helping kick off the X-Men film series in 2000, Jackman played the clawed mutant across nine movies, including three spinoff stories and a cameo in X-Men: First Class. This year, however, marked his last performance in the X-Men universe with the release of Logan. Taking place in the not-too-distant future, the movie depicted an older and wearier Wolverine whose healing factor was slowly failing, and by the end of the story, he sacrificed himself to save Laura Kinney, a.k.a. X-23 (his female clone/"daughter") and her fellow mutants from Transigen. With Jackman's departure, there have been no publicly-announced plans to recast Wolverine for any of the upcoming X-Men projects. Still, whenever 20th Century Fox decides they want someone new to put on the adamantium claws, they should consider looking at Scott Eastwood.

It remains to be seen if Scott Eastwood will ever join another superhero franchise, but at least he was able to briefly shine during Suicide Squad. In the climactic showdown between the Squad and Enchantress, Lieutenant Edwards and the remaining Navy SEALs joined Killer Croc in setting charges in a flooded subway station to blow up Incubus, Enchantress' equally powerful brother. Edwards died when he detonated the charge, but he died a hero having successfully eliminated one-half of the magical threat that had taken over Midway City. That's not too shabby for a minor/supporting character, but now we're curious to see how Eastwood would do leading a superhero movie.

Sequels usually bring back familiar faces and recognizable stars, as they're unwilling to drastically shake up what worked well the first time. But when the "stars" of your franchise are gigantic robots and skyscraper-sized reptile creatures, you can reinvent the wheel for your follow-up chapter. This is what Pacific Rim Uprising appears to be trying, as the first official trailer doubles down on Jaegars and Kaiju but introduces, essentially, a whole new cast. Check this out:

Directed by new director Steven S. DeKnight (who's taking over for Guillermo Del Toro), Pacific Rim Uprising continues the global battle between the nations of the world and the emerging Kaiju -- creatures from another world/dimension who, in the first movie, emerged from a split in the Earth's crust and stampeded on our unsuspecting cities like Godzilla having a bad weekend. To combat the Kaiju, society built Jaegars, two-pilot vehicles that allowed us to rock and sock ravaging Kaiju. The plot escalates in Uprising, in ways we're still trying to learn.

If you couldn't tell from the trailer, and his use of the word "apocalypse" in his inspirational speech, John Boyega is playing the son of Idris Elba's Stacker Pentecost -- the commanding leader who gave his life in the original film. Jake Pentecost (Boyega) is part of a new generation of soldiers who, as the trailer lays out, were born into this world of robots and monsters, and know very little outside of the war-torn environment they have to call home. Only, the battle that they thought concluded in the original movie has expanded, as Charlie Day's manic scientist Dr. Newton Geiszler explains that the Kaiju have evolved. Which means the Jaegars have to improve alongside them.

The rest of the trailer delivers exactly what you would have hoped from a continuation of the Pacific Rim story. Boyega, Scott Eastwood and Adria Arjona will join original Kaiju ass-kicker Rinko Kicuchi as Mako Mori in the war against over-developed monsters. The myth of the rift in Pacific Rim, which we explored briefly when Charlie Hunnam's character plunged between dimensions, was one that raised a fair number of questions about the existence of the Kaiju, and their ultimate goal. I'm hoping that, in addition to delivering robot-on-monster action, the sequel advances SOME of the story and character development with these new cast members.

F. Gary Gray's The Fate of the Furious has fundamentally changed the Fast and Furious franchise in some significant ways. As the first entry in the series to completely move away from Brian O'Conner in the wake of Paul Walker's tragic death, the film's cast (both old and new alike) faced a distinct challenge with taking the series in a new direction. One actor who seemed to understand that responsibility was Scott Eastwood, whose longtime friendship with Paul Walker ultimately inspired him to sign on to the cast. Eastwood spoke out about what happened as part of the movie's Blu-ray release, noting,

Honestly, those comments have us all choked up, and we're not even remotely ashamed to admit it. Scott Eastwood's remarks (which he made in the special features of the new Fate of the Furious home release) add a seriously emotional undercurrent to his presence in the film. The 31-year-old son of Clint Eastwood and Walker were apparently close friends for twenty years leading up to Walker's passing in 2013, and the opportunity to step into Walker's franchise must've felt like a no-brainer.

On that note, it's easy to see how the role of Little Nobody feels tailor-made for someone close to Paul Walker. From his status as an inexperienced government agent to the Subaru he drives during the film's New York City sequence, almost everything about Little Nobody feels like a direct homage to Walker's Brian O'Conner. It's the sort of fan service that this franchise always does well, so it's clear that Eastwood thoroughly enjoyed honoring his friend.

Faithful to the core thesis of the Fast and Furious series, it sounds like everyone on the cast and crew treated him like a regular member of the team as soon as he stepped onto the set. Eastwood continued:

We absolutely love Scott Eastwood's turn in the Fast and Furious franchise, and it's beginning to look like he has finally found a franchise that he can call home. Even with the legacy of his father to prop his name up, Eastwood never really found a major blockbuster series during the early years of his career, causing him to float between horror films like the decidedly lackluster Texas Chainsaw 3D and less memorable roles, such as playing a Navy SEAL in David Ayer's Suicide Squad. In that regard, Little Nobody is finally putting Eastwood on the map, and we cannot wait to see how he continues to honor Paul Walker's legacy if he returns for future installments.

Having a famous parent doesn't necessarily guarantee that a person will become famous themselves, but you would think that it might help a person to get a leg up in showbiz. According to Scott Eastwood, son of Clint Eastwood, that's not always necessarily the case though. The actor told Conan O'Brien that his famous father makes him audition for an roles he wants in a Clint Eastwood flick. He certainly doesn't make it easy for Scott Eastwood, and the actor thinks it's because his dad doesn't love working with his kid. He said:

Scott Eastwood, who can currently be seen in The Fate of the Furious in theaters, has done a few movies with his dad, including Gran Torino, Invictus and Flags of our Fathers. (He's also in Trouble with the Curve, which stars his famous dad but isn't directed by him.) Despite this, Scott Eastwood says he really had to work for those roles and audition like everyone else. In fact, the hard work doesn't end there. Once he gets the part, he actually has to deal with some stuff on set that other people might not have to contend with.

As Scott Eastwood mentioned on Conan, it's not all fun and games working with Clint Eastwood, especially when you are his son. He told the late night host that when he did finally get a small part in Gran Torino, his dad basically used it as an opportunity to work out pent up feelings. There was even some shit-talking that went on...

He went on to say he's sure he pissed his dad off growing up, and the scene was the culmination of plenty of pent-up rage, which is exceedingly funny. With that in mind, I'm a little surprised that Scott Eastwood even tried to go for anymore movies with his dear old dad after Gran Torino, although truth be told, he seems kind-of amused by the whole experience. Or at least is fairly good-natured about how his father got into the right mindset during the scene.

Luckily, although Clint Eastwood may not be super pumped to work with Scott Eastwood all the often, it's not as if the younger Eastwood is hurting for roles. Along with The Fate of the Furious, he appeared in Suicide Squad last year, and has roles in Overdrive and Pacific Rim: Uprising coming up. In F. Gary Gray's The Fate of the Furious, the team must react when their leader, Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel), goes rogue. In order to bring Dom in, a shady figure we met in Furious 7, Mr. Nobody (Kurt Russell), recruits Hobbs (The Rock) and Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) for a mission that also includes Eric Reisner (Scott Eastwood), whom the team nicknames "Little Nobody."

But in truth, the Fast & Furious franchise has been adding new names with each chapter, from The Rock joining in Fast Five to Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren stepping in as villains in The Fate of the Furious. And as Scott Eastwood explains in the Facebook LIVE from above, the ensemble really does welcome everyone in with open arms.

The Fate of the Furious is the eighth chapter in this ongoing series, and the first to explore a founding team member going against his "family." From what Vin Diesel has said about the plot of this new one, it could trigger a fresh trilogy, that would carry Fast through 10 whole features, That's staggering for a movie that, back in 2001, didn't set out to reinvent the modern movie series, or explore how far one franchise could go when based around cool car culture.

The Fate of the Furious co-stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese, Ludacris, Scott Eastwood, Kurt Russell, Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron as the big baddie, Cypher. It opens in theaters on April 14. And for more information on Upcoming 2017 Movies, click those words.

Scott Eastwood took a big leap earlier this week, and it might actually wind up getting him into some trouble. The actor filmed himself cliff-diving in Australia during a day off from filming on Monday. In the high-octane video, Eastwood holds a GoPro camera at himself as he runs off the ledge of a cliff in Royal National Park on the coast of New South Wales in Australia. As he hits the water below, Eastwood drops the camera, which continues filming from the bottom of the lagoon for several seconds before Eastwood finally retrieves it and resurfaces. It looks like Scott Eastwood had a blast with that cliff-dive, but the video he filmed might come back to bite him. TMZ is reporting that jumping from Wattamolla Falls (the waterfall shown in Eastwood's video) is illegal, and he could be dealt a fine by the authorities. The Royal National Park website does explicitly state in its safety messages that jumping from the waterfall into the lagoon is prohibited, although the site doesn't go into details about what the punishment might be.

Of course, if any sort of fine is leveled against Scott Eastwood and his cliff-jumping pal, it probably wouldn't be a huge deal for the movie star. The Daily Mail is reporting that the National Parks and Wildlife Service is reviewing Eastwood's video, and may issue him a $300 fine, which I'm sure is an amount that wouldn't even make Eastwood blink. After all, he did just star in Suicide Squad, one of the highest grossing films of 2016.

Despite what may become a minor financial hiccup, Scott Eastwood seems to be making the most of his time in Australia. The actor arrived in the country two weeks ago to begin filming Pacific Rim: Uprising, which will be the sequel to 2013's immensely popular action, sci-fi film Pacific Rim, which Eastwood did not appear in. Eastwood marked his arrival in Australia at the very beginning of the new year with an excited Instagram post of himself beneath the Australian flag.

It looks like Scott Eastwood has been finding a nice balance between working hard on the new Pacific Rim film and getting out to explore the beautiful natural settings that Australia has to offer since starting his visit. In the past few days, the actor has shared photos of himself both hard at work memorizing his lines, and other ones of himself and friends exploring the country.

In hindsight, it's abundantly clear that Suicide Squad went though an intense evolution between its development and its release. From rumors that never materialized, to the abundance of scenes clearly cut from the theatrical version of the film, David Ayer's DCEU adventure is chock full of hypotheticals that never quite came to life. Now it seems that even the cast of Suicide Squad was almost entirely different, as Shia LaBeouf almost took on the part of Lt. GQ Edwards. I know; let that sink in. LaBeouf elaborated:

Shia LaBeouf recently spoke to Variety about his upcoming film, American Honey, and revealed that director David Ayer initially approached him for the role of GQ Edwards in Suicide Squad during the early stages of the film's development -- back when Tom Hardy was still attached for the role of Rick Flag. Eventually, after the script had gone through a number of changes, Warner Bros. decided that they didn't want to take a risk on LaBeouf with one of their tent pole movies. Once he was dropped from the project, Scott Eastwood came in to fill the part. It doesn't seem like there's any hard feelings though, as LaBeouf appears to completely understand their concerns about his potential behavior.

It's odd that so much effort went into the creation of a character that ultimately had very little impact on Suicide Squad's overall narrative. Fans speculated for well over a year that GQ Edwards might actually be some hidden DC cameo like Dick Grayson, Oliver Queen, or Jason Todd, but in the end he simply turned out to be little more than Rick Flag's right hand man. Even his death (although explosive) seemed rather uneventful. It has us wondering if the filmmakers initially had far more in store for the character before rewrites, reshoots, and edits took their toll.

That being said, it makes sense that David Ayer would approach Shia LaBeouf for a role in Suicide Squad. Although the 30-year-old actor has had a few rough years in Hollywood, his recent work with Ayer on 2014's Fury proved incredibly compelling, and in many ways signaled a comeback that has slowly but surely begun to take shape. Ayer clearly has a knack for getting strong performances out of the talented (if somewhat unpredictable) LaBeouf, so we're left wondering what his version of GQ Edwards could have looked like. Scott Eastwood was just fine as GQ, but LaBeouf would've brought something gloriously absurd to the role.

Scott Eastwood's star is on the rise, what with his role in this summer's Suicide Squad bringing a lot of attention to an already highly visible career. Yet from the beginning, the biggest talking point has been just which character he's playing in the new anti-hero film from DC and Warner Bros. It's a subject that's been revisited recently, and today is no different, as yet another theory has cropped up. Should this new line of thinking be true, Eastwood just might be the DC Cinematic Universe's Green Arrow.

This highly speculative theory comes from Newsarama, as they've been pouring over remarks made by Suicide Squad insiders, spurred on by the recent theory that Eastwood's character was named "Lieutenant 'GQ' Edwards." But new remarks that were pulled from an interview with ComicBook.com have flat out called that theory a lie, leaving Newsarama to dig a little deeper into the history of DC Comics adaptations, both produced and un-produced. Somehow, in their thought process, they stumbled upon Green Arrow: Escape From Supermax, a rejected concept which kind of sounds like the basic set up for Suicide Squad, as the biggest, baddest villains found themselves sharing a prison with a wrongly convicted Oliver Queen. The lynchpin to all of this is the following remarks from one of the producers, Richard Suckle, who dropped the following statement regarding Eastwood's character:

So not very long after a movie about a prison full of villains was vetoed by the powers that be at Warner Bros, another film just happened to magically appear with the same sort of story, and with a character that was going to be in the film, only to be dropped and re-instated later on. Call us crazy, but we're kinda pick up on what they're putting down here.

Considering the accelerated development plan that the DC Cinematic Universe has been engaging in, it wouldn't be that surprising if Green Arrow was some how smuggled into a pre-existing film, just in time for him to pop up in the Justice League film scheduled for next November. Seeing as Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman are the two films that lead up to that massive DC team-up film, it's a good chance that the former film would be the most organic option for integrating the character. Not to mention, Scott Eastwood has a pretty good look for a potential Green Arrow, so the theory kind of holds water.

However, considering all footage of Eastwood's character from Suicide Squad shows him off as more of a military grunt, rather than a billionaire industrialist, we're still waiting for some more evidence before we get too excited. Still, the prospect of a Green Arrow portrayed by Scott Eastwood is a bit of dream casting that has us even more eager to see Suicide Squad when it's released on August 5th. From the moment Scott Eastwood was announced to be in this summers Suicide Squad, fans have endlessly speculated on what character the actor could be playing. We've heard everything from Steve Trevor to Nightwing and now the name of his mysterious character might have finally been spoiled by an unusual source. A posting from a German film site has potentially revealed the name of his character, and it might leave some fans feeling disappointed.

Cinemaxx, the German site in question, posted the cast list for Suicide Squad, a list that included the name of Scott Eastwood and his soldier character. His name is Lieutenant "GQ" Edwards and, unfortunately, that's not a name that comes from the comics. This would seem to imply that Eastwood's character is really just a soldier and not a pre-existing entity in the comics. That's sure to be disappointing to a few fans who have been studying every set picture for any sort of clue on the true identity of Eastwood's role.

There have been a bunch of theories on who Scott Eastwood could be playing over the past year. Some speculated that he could be playing Dick Grayson's Nightwing, sent undercover by Batman to spy on Amanda Waller and the Suicide Squad. That didn't hold much weight, and others turned to another character who's seen a big spike in popularity over the years: Deathstroke the Terminator. Heroic Hollywood reported that Eastwood was playing Slade Wilson, who some might remember for his tenure on CW's Arrow. Other popular theories were that he was Steve Trevor and, after Chris Pine was cast in Wonder Woman, that he was actually a descendant of Trevor.

The reveal of Lieutenant "GQ" Edwards might debunk those rumors now. A GQ is visible on Eastwood's military uniform, adding a good deal of credence to the rumor. Of course, it's entirely possible that Cinemaxx is wrong and the fanboy theories can still live on. There's also the possibility that "GQ" Edwards is just a smokescreen created to obscure the character's true name. If Eastwood really is playing a character like Deathstroke, then Warner Bros. wouldn't want that to get spoiled quite so easily.

You can see Scott Eastwood's character, who is either a really cool guy from the comic books or just a normal soldier, in Suicide Squad which is written and directed by David Ayer. The superhero blockbuster opens in just a few short weeks on August 5.

Pacific Rim 2 is sitting on top of the world compared to where it once was. With the new, prime release date of February 23, 2018, the sequel to Guillermo del Toro's little Kaiju that could is already locking in the key elements to make this new and exciting release date. So now's a great time to announce another potential cast member, and that possible addition is none other than Suicide Squad actor, Scott Eastwood.

Deadline got their hands on this possible casting information, which states that Pacific Rim 2 could see Eastwood as a lead in the film. This could mean that Scott Eastwood's casting would fill a possible co-pilot / antagonist slot opposite to John Boyega's character, who is apparently slated to be the new film's central character. Eastwood has been making a name for himself in pictures such as The Longest Ride and Fury, with his next big on-screen credits finding him in films such as Snowden and Fast 8.

Casting Scott Eastwood in Pacific Rim 2 is a hell of a find for both director Steven S. DeKnight, as well as Eastwood himself, as this second round of humans vs. kaijus is becoming a bit of a hot property. With the likes of Boyega and Eastwood signing onto the project, Universal looks like it's building an off-season hit, that could yield a new franchise for the studio to craft a healthy future with.

Of course, the advantages aren't totally one sided, as Scott Eastwood's career could definitely stand to benefit from the geek prestige that's surrounding Pacific Rim 2's production. As it already stands, the film looks to act as a third leg to the tripod of stardom that Suicide Squad and Fast 8 are building as early as this August. So with three franchises possibly under his belt, the next step in the natural progression of Eastwood's career would be to land himself an action franchise centered around a character tailor made for him.

While we can't think of any particular franchises or concepts that would fit the resume that Scott Eastwood has already crafted for himself, it definitely looks like Scott is following his old man's footsteps in the best way possible. Come to think of it, it would be rather cool if the younger Eastwood could find himself a Western franchise to successfully lead, as it could draw new fans to the genre, as well as reinforce the fandom of folks that came to the Western fold through Clint himself.

The future looks bright for Scott Eastwood, and all it took was an apocalypse. We'll see what the end of the world has in store for the talented young actor when Pacific Rim 2 opens on February 23, 2018. In the meantime, we'll just have to keep an eye on his performances in Suicide Squad, which opens on August 5, as well as Fast 8, which debuts on April 14, 2017.

The Fast & Furious crew will be the first ones to tell you that they don’t add "friends" to the ensemble year after year. They add family. So it’s encouraging to read this spectacular and heartfelt note penned by Scott Eastwood upon learning that he’d been cast in the soon-to—begin-filming Fast & Furious 8. You see, Eastwood has roots with Paul Walker, so joining the series is a LOT more than cashing the next paycheck. Read his message below:

This heartfelt message was posted on Scott Eastwood’s Instagram page, confirming the fact that the Suicide Squad actor had been added to Fast & Furious 8, and also elaborating a bit on who Eastwood would be playing in the movie. Let’s start there. In Furious 7, the legendary Kurt Russell joined the ever-expanding F&F family in the role of Mr. Nobody, a covert operative who eventually needed Dom (Vin Diesel) and his team to pull off a complicated job. It was believed that Mr. Nobody would continue to use Dom and his crew in the next few chapters of the Fast saga, possibly leading to the shift of venue cities to New York (as has been reported). Now we know that Scott Eastwood will be working for Russell’s team… which might put him at odds with Dom, Letty (Michelle Rodriguez), Hobbs (The Rock) and the crew.

More than that, though, Eastwood starts talking about his relationship with Paul Walker, and that’s when Fast fans are going to need the tissues. He calls him his "brother," and recounts the experiences they had together. These two apparently ran in the same packs, and Eastwood sees it as an honor, and an opportunity, to continue Walker’s legacy in a Fast film. "I am going to make you proud," he tells his late friend. We can’t wait to see it happen!

Fast & Furious 8 wasn’t always a lock. When Paul Walker died during the filming of Furious 7, the team did everything that they could just to finish that chapter. In fact, director James Wan recently said that his team deserved Oscar consideration for the visual effects that they needed to rely on to complete Paul Walker’s performance – and he’s not exaggerating.

However, now that we know Fast & Furious 8 is happening, the pieces are being put into place to build on the success of Furious 7 and take the series through at least one more story… and possibly more. Straight Outta Compton director F. Gary Gray was hired to helm Fast 8. Charlize Theron was tapped to play the new villain. And Scott Eastwood is a new hire to the "family." The casting call to play the young Han Solo was one of the biggest that we’ve ever seen in Hollywood. Nearly every male human with a headshot and a pulse was reviewed by Disney and Lucasfilm as they went looking for the man who would play the young version of Harrison Ford’s famous character. Now it looks like the thousands of potentials have been narrowed down to just a few.

According to Variety, the list is down to about a dozen names, eight of which are specifically listed. So here’s the rundown of the actors most likely to play Han Solo next. Do you like any of them? Do you prefer one over the others? Let us know.

Miles Teller

Miles Teller is by far the best known name on the list. Teller starred alongside Oscar winner J.K. Simmons in the well-received Whiplash, and played the role of Reed Richards in the not so well received Fantastic Four reboot from this past summer. He’s also been part of the Divergent series. He’s been a fairly high demand actor recently, so his presence here is no surprise.

Ansel Elgort

Ansel Elgort is a relative newcomer to Hollywood, but has done well for himself in only the last few years. Like Teller, Elgort has been part of the Divergent series, in the role of Caleb. He also had the role of the male lead in the teen weeper The Fault in Our Stars, another film based on a popular young adult novel. Needless to say, the role of Han Solo would make him an overnight superstar.

Dave Franco

Dave Franco isn’t as well known as his brother, James, though he has been putting together a solid acting career for years. He starred in the surprise hit Now You See Me as Jack Wilder, and will be returning for the sequel later this year. Franco has tried his hand at comedy over the years, in the 21 Jump Street films and Neighbors. He’s currently filming The Disaster Artist, a movie about the making of the cult movie The Room, directed by his brother.

Jack Reynor

Jack Reynor is a bit of a wild card. While he’s had a strong acting career, the vast majority of it has been in smaller films. Nothing like what a Star Wars movie is likely to be. He’s not completely without blockbuster cred, however, as he did play Shane, the boyfriend to Mark Wahlberg’s daughter in the most recent Transformers movie. Is that enough to help him carry a Han Solo movie? Or will it work in his favor that he's still unknown to mainstream crowds?

Scott Eastwood

Scott Eastwood is the oldest actor on the short list at the nearly over the hill age of 29. Eastwood started out acting in films directed by his father Clint, and his been making his own name in recent years with roles in films like Fury, The Longest Ride and Diablo. By the time the Han Solo movie hits, he’ll be much better known thanks to his role in Suicide Squad and his starring turn in the upcoming action movie, Overdrive.

Logan Lerman

Logan Lerman is best known for his work as the title character in the two Percy Jackson films. He was also up for consideration as the new Spider-Man before that role went to Tom Holland. Interestingly, he also had a role in Fury with Scott Eastwood. That was the last time we saw him, though he’s starring in the new film Indignation, which will be screened at Sundance later this month.

Emory Cohen

Emory Cohen may be the most unknown on this list. After a recurring role on NBC’s musical drama Smash, he went on to play Tony in 2015’s well received Brooklyn. He’s not going to be unknown for too much longer, however. He has at least five movies currently set for 2016 release dates, so a year from now, he’ll be a much higher-profile actor. Maybe it makes sense for Lucasfilm and Disney to snatch him up now, before his star reaches the stratosphere?

Blake Jenner

Does Han Solo need to sing? If Blake Jenner takes the role, he may have a great voice. Jenner’s major screen role to date was as Ryder Lynn on the TV series Glee. Most recently, he played the role of Adam Foster on CBS’ Supergirl opposite his real life wife Melissa Benoist. Jenner has a couple of films slated for 2016 including the comedy Besties alongside Woody Harrelson and Hailee Steinfeld.

It looks like The Transporter: Refueled, the latest in the franchise once fronted by Jason Statham, isn’t the only action movie with eyes for the south of France. Hunky actor Scott Eastwood is set to star in the high-octane flick Overdrive, which will also burn rubber all over those exotic, luxurious environs.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Eastwood, the 29-year-old son of legendary actor/director Clint Eastwood, will take the lead in Overdrive, which has put together a solid action pedigree. Taken director Pierre Morel is producing the film along with Christopher Tuffin. Derek Haas and Michael Brandt, the duo behind the likes of Wanted, 2007’s 3:10 to Yuma remake, and 2 Fast, 2 Furious, are handling the script part of the program. And at the helm of this particular ship this will be Antonio Negret, who directed the Jim Caviezel-starring Transit, as well as a few recent episodes of TV shows like Arrow and The 100.

The story details are vague, but promising for this sort of lower-tier, gritty style of action (it sounds like it will be in the same family as The Transporter and Taken—cheaper to produce, potentially high upside). Eastwood will play one of two brothers, brothers who just so happen to be car thieves. When they head to the south of France, presumably looking for new opportunities to get their mitts on some exotic, high end automobiles, they run afoul of a local crime boss.

This is actually just the latest iteration of a project that has been in the works for quite a number of years. As far back as 2011, a number of actors have been attached to Overdrive. At one point both Alex Pettyfer (Magic Mike) and Matthew Goode (Stoker) were going to play the sibling duo, while Jamie Bell (Fantastic Four) and Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy) were slated to fill the roles during another era of development.

Over the last couple of years, Scott Eastwood has been emerging from the considerable shadow cast by his father and is making a name for himself as an actor. After starting his on screen career in Flags of Our Fathers, incidentally enough directed by his father, he has become the romantic lead in films like The Longest Ride, battled Leatherface in Texas Chainsaw 3D, and fought in World War II in David Ayer’s Fury.

Next year we’ll also get the chance to see him in a comic book movie as he’ll appear in DC’s Suicide Squad, also helmed by Ayer, though we don’t know much about his role just yet. Oh, and he can currently be seen in the music video for Taylor Swift’s new song, "Wildest Dream," so he may be familiar from that if you’re one of the 10 million people who have watched that since it went live on Sunday.

A long time ago, in a galaxy called Hollywood, the plans for Star Wars expansion continued with the announcement of a solo Han Solo movie, co-directed by The LEGO Movie hotshots Phil Lord and Chris Miller. The reveal came with precious few details, though it was made clear that the story would be an origin movie of sorts, explaining how Solo became "the smuggler, thief, and scoundrel whom Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi first encountered in the cantina at Mos Eisley."

About the only actor in town who won’t audition for this role is Harrison Ford… who returns to Solo’s story path in J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Disney and Lucasfilm are going to have to go younger when looking for the next actor to fill Ford’s massive shoes. We think the following 10 actors at least deserve a phone call. Where You Have Seen Him: He charmed audiences (and Britt Robertson) in the Nicholas Sparks weeper The Longest Ride. He’s about to contribute to the DC Cinematic Universe in a mysterious Suicide Squad role, but a leap to Star Wars isn’t out of the question.

Why He’s Worthy: He’s a Hollywood "Blue Blood" (the son of Clint Eastwood, obviously), and he has the right mixture of movie-star good looks, irascible charm, and experience with tentpole action. Sign him now, before he blows up.

Liam Hemsworth

Where You Have Seen Him: The other Hemsworth has been busy protecting Katniss Everdeen in the Hunger Games series. He acted alongside Harrison Ford in the little-seen Paranoia, and is about to revisit another sci-fi property in Independence Day: Resurgence.

Why He’s Worthy: Because he’s young, handsome, modeled to be an action hero, and has a special movie-star gene that seems to run in the Hemsworth family. If Disney needs a name, this is the one that they should grab.

Anthony Ingruber

Current Age: 25

Where You Have Seen Him: Did you see The Age of Adaline? No? I know. No one did. But he was in it.

Why He’s Worthy: And in that film, during a key flashback, Anthony Ingruber played a young Harrison Ford, and his impersonation was uncanny. Now, is that enough to get him the role of Han Solo? Nope. But it should be on his reel when he sends it to Disney for consideration.

Theo James

Where You Have Seen Him: Though he had a role in Underworld: Awakening, most know him as Four in the Divergent series of films.

Why He’s Worthy: Because he has cut his teeth on a mega-YA franchise, and actors tend to take those parts so that they can springboard them to the next level. James actually rose above the tedium of the Divergent storylines, establishing Four as a three-dimensional character. Could he play Han Solo next?

Cameron Monaghan

Where You Have Seen Him: On television, on programs like Gotham, Mercy Street and Shameless.

Why He’s Worthy: Because Disney likely will look to successful TV properties in order to pluck top talent, and Monaghan has been building a fan base. He’s very young for what we assume Disney will want to Han Solo, but at this early stage, you never know what’s on the casting wish list.

Ansel Elgort

Where You Have Seen Him: Alongside Shailene Woodley in the cancer drama The Fault in our Stars, as well as the Divergent films. He also made a memorable inpression in the Carrie remake.

Why He’s Worthy: Elgort’s name has been on most "Hot Up-And-Comers" lists for the past two years, and he’s primed for a breakout. Unlike his fellow young (and intense) actors, he has that casual, carefree charm that fits Han Solo. Can he carry an action film? We may find out.

Some actors really get into their roles. Like really into their roles. According to Suicide Squad co-star Scott Eastwood, Jared Leto is one of those people. Eastwood was so impressed with the Joker on set, he was afraid to go up to him during the filming, because he knew Jared Leto, but didn't recognize him.

We’ve heard that Jared Leto’s Joker is a bit... extreme. Eastwood backs that up to be sure. According to a story on E!, Eastwood’s fear in approaching Leto stemmed from the fact that he was afraid he would throw off the actor’s performance. Eastwood speaks of Leto and the Joker as two separate people, and seemed to be afraid that if he went up and started talking to Jared, somebody he had already met, that it might have a negative impact on the Joker.

Wow. It’s one thing to get into character, but it’s quite another to project that character so completely that the other actors are afraid they’ll throw you off if they treat you like yourself. Leto has disappeared into roles before, but it really does seem like this one is something special for him. Whatever Leto does will be compared to the last time we saw the Joker on film. From everything we have seen, though, it looks like he’s taking on the challenge. Initial response to Leto from fans was... mixed. But Heath Ledger got a lot of the same flak, so we're not making any judgments.

Scott Eastwood speaks of his fear of approaching Leto in the past tense. This could mean one of two things. Either he eventually got over his fear and now doesn’t have a problem talking to Leto, or, more likely, he’s finished filming scenes with Leto (or all his scenes in the movie). Eastwood, was originally rumored to be playing the role of Steve Trevor, primary love interest for Wonder Woman. Those rumors have recently proven to be untrue, and Eastwood’s role is currently unknown.

Since we don’t know anything about the movie’s plot the fact that Eastwood was on set with Leto at all doesn’t really tell us anything conclusive about his role. Some photos have been leaked showing Eastwood in military fatigues but that’s all we have to go on. There’s really nothing that distinguishes him anybody specific from the DC Universe (if in fact he’s playing anybody from the DC Universe at all).

Whether you’re excited or terrified to see this new Joker, it’s clear that everybody is curious. We’ll have a chance to see just what kind of Joker Leto is, and exactly who Eastwood is playing, when the film comes out next year.

While rumors from a couple weeks ago may have pegged actor Scott Eastwood for the role of Steve Trevor in the growing DC Cinematic Universe, it now looks like the part of Wonder Woman's love interest will actually be going to a different performer. This is because new reports have surfaced not only denying the Eastwood-as-Trevor rumor, but saying that Warner Bros. is currently in the process of testing four actors for the part.

Variety first reported this news in their article about director Michelle MacLaren's departure from Wonder Woman, the filmmaker running into what were apparently insurmountable creative differences with the studio. The trade's sources say that Warner Bros. is in the midst of sending out test offers to four different actors for the role of Steve Trevor, and they say that earlier rumors about Scott Eastwood landing the role were not actually true. Unfortunately, they don't mention the identity of the actors who are actually going out for the part, but it may not be too long before that shortlist is revealed.

News about Scott Eastwood (pictured above) joining the DC Cinematic Universe first popped up late last month, though not because he signed on for the Wonder Woman movie. Instead, it was reported that he would be reuniting with director David Ayer on the 2016 blockbuster Suicide Squad - having previously worked with the filmmaker on last year's tank drama Fury. It was after that this casting news leaked that he first heard Eastwood's name linked to the role of Steve Trevor. It was said at the time that his role would be rather brief in the anti-hero team up movie - following the version of the character from the New 52 comics and playing a member of the government organization that controls the titular group - but that appearance would set him up for a much larger role in 2017's Wonder Woman. Now it seems that information was incorrect.

As of now, it's hard to say where things stand with the Wonder Woman movie. Gal Gadot is still attached to play the lead role, and it's expected to be her first reprisal of the character after Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but right now the project appears to be rudderless without a director attached. Presumably Warner Bros. is working to quickly find a replacement for MacLaren, as they need to keep all of the DC Comics projects on schedule if they want to stick with the five year plan that they outlined last year. Whether or not we will hear about new filmmaker coming aboard the project before we hear who will be playing Steve Trevor is unclear at this point.

Among the actors who have recently been added to the cast of Suicide Squad are Raymond Olubowale and Scott Eastwood. While Olubowale is rumored to be the super villain King Shark, there hasn’t been any word yet on who Eastwood will be playing in the 2016 blockbuster…until now. Amidst all the criminals, psychopaths and evildoers filling up Suicide Squad, Eastwood’s character may have just been revealed as a good guy who is an important player from the Wonder Woman mythos.

Latino Review is reporting the rumor that Scott Eastwood will briefly appear in Suicide Squad as Steve Trevor, Wonder Woman’s primary love interest from the comics. No details were included about what his role will be, but the article mentions that since Suicide Squad is being heavily based on the New 52, this could mean that moviegoers will see Steve as an agent of A.R.G.U.S. (Advanced Research Group for Uniting Super-Humans) working under Amanda Waller. This appearance will also set up Eastwood up for a major role in Wonder Woman's 2017 solo movie.

Steve Trevor played a crucial role in Wonder Woman’s 1941 origin story when he crash landed on Themyscira, her home island filled only with women. After nursing him back to health and falling in love with him, Wonder Woman followed Steve back to the outside world, and together they fought bad guys together. His connection to Wonder Woman still exists in the New 52, although his romantic feelings for her hasn’t been reciprocated. He also served for years as the U.S. government’s liaison with the Justice League before becoming the head of A.R.G.U.S.

Steve’s most prominent appearance outside of comics to date is when Lyle Waggoner played Steve and his son Steve Jr., in the 1975 Wonder Woman TV series. This has also been the character’s only aired live-action appearance, since the 2011 Wonder Woman pilot, which had Justin Bruening playing the role, never aired. Steve’s has also appeared in animated projects like the 2009 Wonder Woman film, Justice League: War and Justice League: Throne of Atlantis, as well as in the three-part animated Justice League episode "Savage Time."

Eastwood’s resume includes roles in Gran Torino, Invictus, Texas Chainsaw 3D and Dawn Patrol. Suicide Squad will be his second project with director David Ayer following last year’s Fury. Eastwood was also evidently a contender to play Rick Flag, but lost that role to Joel Kinnaman.

Suicide Squad will be released on August 5, 2016.

The Joker, Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and Enchantress are not the only supervillains under the supervision of Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller. The Suicide Squad movie recently added two more actors to the cast in the form of Resident Evil’s Raymond Olubowale and Clint Eastwood’s son, Scott. While the identities of the two are still unclear, a new rumor circling the web might have the answer. Well, the answer to one-half of this question.

According to Latino Review’s El Mayimbe, the latest buzz is that Olubowale is playing someone hulking, someone strong, someone mutated, someone who is a bit of a shark. Know who we’re talking about? King Shark. Though the reporter states that this rumor is unconfirmed, it’s the latest spoiler-y detail to stem from the highly anticipated DC film.

King Shark was written in the comics to be a villain for Superboy, but he eventually made his way into the Aquaman storyline. He has more recently been seen in the Suicide Squad comic arc as a hammerhead shark terrorizing Hawaii, where he was picked up by Waller and imprisoned in Belle Reve. While the five previously mentioned characters make up the main focus of Suicide Squad, King Shark could very well be seen in a cameo, should the rumor prove true. As for Eastwood’s role, it’s still unclear. However, there seems to be any number of options. If Warner Bros. decides to move ahead with a sequel, we could see more characters wreaking havoc. But first, we have to see how the first one does.

Fury’s David Ayer is at the helm of Suicide Squad, while Jared Leto plays Joker, Margot Robbie plays Harley, Will Smith plays Deadshot, Jai Courteney plays Boomerang, and Cara Delevingne plays Enchantress. Elsewhere, Joel Kinnaman replaces originally cast Tom Hardy as Rick Flagg, Waller’s righthand man and the on-hand supervisor of the squad. If the other rumors are true, then we’ll also see Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor dropping in for a scuffle after he makes his debut in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The latest reports suggest he has his eye on Enchantress and the magic she wields, and Waller tasks her prisoners to go and acquire the "weapon" from his grasp.

If all goes well, then Suicide Squad could be the jumping off point to expand the DC cinematic universe to an even grander extent. We will soon see the worlds of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash, Cyborg, and Green Lantern crossing over, and any number of baddies from this villain mash-up popping up.

David Ayer's Suicide Squad is going into production shortly, and a big part of the final stretch will involve rounding out the cast. The 2016 blockbuster already has a stacked lineup, but now news has come down from two separate sources announcing that the comic book movie has just added both Scott Eastwood and Raymond Olubowale to its ensemble.

Let's cover these new castings one at a time, shall we? First up, there's Clint Eastwood's son, who actually just had the chance to work with David Ayer on the director's World War II tank movie Fury, which just came out last year. The Canadian entertainment show eTalk apparently got the chance to catch up with the young actor, and posted on their Twitter account that he is currently in Toronto in preparation for production on Suicide Squad. There currently aren't any details available about the role he will be playing, though the source does tease that more information will be coming tomorrow.

The second casting update comes from the Toronto Sun, which is reporting that heavyweight boxer-turned-actor Raymond Olubowale has also signed on for DC Comics' second 2016 film. Weirdly, the newspaper calls the project by its working title - Bravo 14 - but confirms that it's Suicide Squad by listing Jared Leto and Will Smith as co-stars (it also lists Tom Hardy, though he actually left the production a few months back). Discussing his burgeoning big screen career, Olubowale said in an interview,

This won't be Raymond Olubowale's first big franchise appearance. In both 2010's Resident Evil: Afterlife and 2012's Resident Evil: Retribution as the terrifying Axe Man.

Scott Eastwood started his career acting in a number of his father's movies - including Flags of Our Fathers, Gran Torino, and Invictus - but has since been going off and working on other new projects. In just a few weeks he will be seen headlining The Longest Ride, the newest big screen Nicholas Sparks adaptation, and he is currently working with Oliver Stone on the upcoming biopic Snowden.

In addition to Scott Eastwood and Raymond Olubowale, as well as the aforementioned Jared Leto and Will Smith, Suicide Squad will also star Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevingne, Jay Hernandez and possibly Jesse Eisenberg (reprising his role as Lex Luthor from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice). Production on the blockbuster will be starting up in the next few weeks, and Warner Bros. and DC Comics currently have the movie on track to be released August 5, 2016. In spite of the lack of a Season 2 renewal just yet for Chicago Fire, plans for a spinoff are going ahead. NBC has cast a couple of the roles for the planted spinoff, which will shift the focus from the heroics of the Windy City’s fire department to its police force. Signed on for the project as of today are Texas Chainsaw 3D costars Tania Raymond and Scott Eastwood.

TV Line says the two will appear in the Chicago Fire season finale which has been set for May 15th. Chicago Fire started its first season a little weak, but grew in the ratings over time as the season progressed, earning a full season order about a month in. The very fact that the network is looking to a spinoff seems to point to the likelihood that Chicago Fire will be back for a second season.

Word is the spinoff will be in the hands of Law & Order franchise vet Dick Wolf, along with Derek Haas, Michael Brandt and Matt Olmstead of Chicago Fire. Scott Eastwood, son of acting legend Clint Eastwood, has been cast as Officer Jim Barnes – no character description just yet. He has mainly done movies, and appeared with his father in Gran Torino and again in Trouble With the Curve. This is his first TV series role. Tania Raymonde has a lot more TV credits than her new co-star, including Switched at Birth, 90210 and Lost. We’ll have to wait to see if any of Chicago Fire’s current stars head over to the spinoff to join these two.

Clint Eastwood proved he still had it with his fantastic performance in the 2008 film Gran Torino. And this weekend, he proved it again by lending his talent through voice and brief appearance in Chrysler’s “Halftime” commercial. His next big screen venture is a baseball drama called Trouble with the Curve, which he’s not only starring in, but also producing along with Robert Lorenz through Malpaso Productions.

Marking Lorenz’ directing debut, the film will have Clint Eastwood playing a baseball scout who’s having vision problems. He and his daughter (Amy Adams) travel to Atlanta to check out a “hot prospect.”

Joining the cast, which already includes Justin Timberlake and John Goodman, in addition to Eastwood and Adams, is Eastwood’s son Scott Eastwood. According to Variety, Scott will play a “ slumping minor league player who the protag discovered and still has faith in.” It’s hard to tell how big a role it is from that description, but it does sound like there’s a good chance we’ll be seeing them on screen together.

This isn’t the first time Scott Eastwood has appeared in the same film as his father. The actor appeared in Flags of Our Fathers, Gran Torino, and Invictus. While the family connection certainly can’t hurt, Variety notes that Scott did have to audition for the part in Curve.

As for what’s ahead for Scott Eastwood aside from this, he’s set to appear in Lionsgate’s Leatherface 3D, as well as the Curtis Hanson directed Of Men and Mavericks, which tells the story of surfer Jay Moriarity.
