It seems some magic is unfolding within the sports landscape, and I’m not talking about the developments in the NBA Playoffs. Longtime friends Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley have seemingly buried the hatchet years after their falling-out. That revelation recently came from Barkley, who suggested that he and MJ found some common ground. At the same time, there still doesn’t seem to be much movement regarding a reconciliation between Jordan and Scottie Pippen and, now a former teammate of theirs is weighing in.

A Former Bulls Player Weighs In On The State Of Michael Jordan And Scottie Pippen’s Relationship

Pippen and Jordan have been estranged since the release of the docuseries The Last Dance (which is streamable with a Netflix subscription) in 2020. While Pippen initially claimed not to have had a problem with the show, he later lambasted it and Jordan in his memoir, Unguaded. The Arkansas native claimed Jordan used his editorial power to uplift himself while not giving others due credit. Scott Williams mentioned the doc during his recent appearance on SiriusXM NBA Radio Post Game Show (via The Basketball Network), saying:

A significant portion of the Emmy-winning documentary was devoted to the dynamic between Jordan and his teammates. While they admitted that MJ’s methods could be tough, they also lauded him for his effectiveness. Still, the divide between Jordan and Pippen remains, though Williams remains optimistic about the chances of them putting their differences aside:

Scott Williams isn’t the only person who’d like to see a Pippen/Jordan reunion at some point in the future, as Dennis Rodman also believes they’ll link up again. Another Bulls alum, Horace Grant, thinks it’ll take Jordan and Pippen setting aside their egos to truly mend fences. What’s ironic, though, is Williams' mention of an intermediary, as that apparently played into Jordan’s kumbaya moment with Charles Barkley.

How Did Michael Jordan And Charles Barkley Get Back On Good Terms?

Charles Barkley has been candid about “losing” his friendship with Michael Jordan, and that apparently happened after Barkley criticized Jordan’s acumen and asserted that he needed “better” people around him. Jordan apparently called Barkley later that evening and chastised him for sharing those sentiments. While it seemed like the two would never repair their friendship after that, it seems a third-party stepped in and, as Barkley explained to ESPN Chicago (as seen on YouTube), they have a baseball player to thank for this:

And here I thought it was sports analyst Michael Wilbon’s job to get Charles Barkley and Michael Jordan back together. In all seriousness, though, it’s great to hear that they’re set to hang out and that Barkley is “looking forward to the future.” Whether that future also includes a scenario in which Scottie Pippen joins the pair for a tee time is unclear. For now, fans will just have to hold onto hope alongside Scott Williams and others that Jordan and Pippen’s friendship will be renewed.

Considering the friendly rivalry Jordan and Miller had on the court, I’m not surprised the latter took a moment to throw some playful shade at His Airness. In all seriousness, though, as Miller shared during the chat (shared to YouTube), he was guarded better by Pippen. Many have indeed lauded Pippen for his defensive skills, as he could indeed guard players of different positions. Of course, Jordan – a Defensive Player of the Year winner – was no slouch in that department either. Still, I can understand why Miller would name Pippen the better defender.

Pippen has been complimented multiple times over the past several years alone, with ex-teammate Dennis Rodman praising him for contributions to the Bulls’ championship teams of the ‘90s. Another former Bull, Ron Harper, also hyped up Pippen during a recent interview and called him “the best small forward to ever play the game of basketball.” NBA vet Gilbert Arenas even specifically applauded Pippen’s defensive prowess and its impact on Jordan’s game.

It goes without saying that Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan were a combined force to be reckoned with on the basketball court, which is a big reason why some people have had a hard time seeing them feud. The situation began in earnest in 2021 when Pippen criticized ESPN’s The Last Dance, on which Jordan was a producer. Pippen later took other shots at MJ, even calling him a “horrible” player. Despite that, “Pip” has still referred to Jordan as one of the best players he’s ever played with.

At this point, any sort of reconciliation still feels like a pipe dream when it comes to Jordan and Pippen. Crazier things have happened, of course. In the meantime, as a fan, I just find the analysis on Pippen and Jordan’s playing styles fascinating in the interim. I’ll be waiting to see if another NBA legend like Miller decides to weigh in on an aspect of their athletic abilities.

Ron Harper is far from the first Bulls alum to share kind thoughts about Scottie Pippen. In 2021, Toni Kukoč praised Pippen, citing him for “taking care of the whole team” and “guarding” people on the court. Dennis Rodman also lauded Pippen’s skills and opined that Jordan needed him for those teams to be successful. Over the years, Jordan himself – who many have long argued is the basketball GOAT – has also complimented Pippen, who was alongside him for all six of those championship runs.

Pippen’s thoughts on Jordan have varied in recent years. When he initially shared his thoughts on Last Dance, Pippen blasted Jordan for allegedly using the Bulls-centric documentary to uplift himself instead of giving his teammates their due credit. Sometime later, the Arkansas native referred to Jordan as a “horrible” player. Though, amid the feud, Pippen has also said that if he were given the opportunity to play with MJ again, he would do it.

Considering where Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan currently stand, it doesn’t feel likely that they’ll reconcile anytime soon. At the very least, what can be said right now, is that based on their teammates’ comments, those players had a lot of respect for both Jordan and Pippen. With that, Randy Brown – who played with the Bulls for five years and won three championships with them – thinks another event of sorts should be held to honor the entire team. As the former point guard shared with EsportsBets, he’d not only love for that entire Bulls team to be honored, but he’d also love to see Jordan and Pippen embrace during such an occasion:

In 2022, Pippen was asked if he’d ever play with Michael Jordan again, and he flat-out said he would play “with only” Jordan. Pippen complimented Jordan again in early 2024 when he mentioned the five NBA MVP awards he won over the course of his career. While Pippen said it “was all brought about from us being successful as a team,” he also admitted Jordan was the “greatest player” in basketball.

The Jordan/Pippen relationship remains on the rocks, though, based on the latter’s recent comments. All the while, other people have expressed their hope that the two men might find some common ground and reconcile. As time continues to pass, my optimism over the chances of Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan making amends dwindles. More surprising developments have unfolded, though, and a kumbaya moment may not be totally out of the question. But, for now, it seems Jordan and Pippen – two of the 75 greatest basketball players of all time – will remain estranged.

(That included a whopping six championships.) It’s likely that Grant isn’t the only person who feels this way, as surely there are fans who’d love to see the basketball icons patch everything up.

The Pippen/Jordan feud began in earnest when the latter criticized The Last Dance (which Grant also disliked) and blasted his teammate for allegedly using his production company’s creative control on the doc to make himself look good. Since then, Pippen has thrown shade at Jordan on a number of occasions, even going as far as calling him a “horrible” player. Jordan has not spoken ill of his ex-teammate in public since then though, as far as the public knows, he hasn’t made attempts to reach out to Pippen.

A number of Bulls teammates have since spoken out about the feud, with one being Dennis Rodman. In 2023, Rodman expressed his belief that his buddies would eventually squash their beef. However, in 2022, fellow Chicago Bulls alum Charles Oakley declared that friendship was “over” and claimed it “wasn't great from the get-go.” Meanwhile, another former Chicago player, Bill Cartwright, called the whole situation “nonsense” earlier this year, given that the two players were still dwelling on something that happened decades ago.

Considering where everything stands right now, a “kumbaya” moment of sorts doesn’t seem to be in the cards for either Michael Jordan or Scottie Pippen at this point. There’s always the chance that some force manages to bring them together. Whether that would be a natural change of heart and removal of pride (as Horace Grant suggests) is anyone’s guess.

A pair of collaborators who’ve emerged as power players over the past decade or so are Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan. Since 2013, the two have made five films together, with each one receiving varying levels of praise. Their latest flick is the critically acclaimed Sinners and, on the heels of that Coogler is opening up about his relationship with Jordan.

Very few creatives manage to forge a special bond like Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler’s. Fruitvale Station, Creed, Black Panther, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Sinners make up quite a streak. So what’s the key to the firm partnership between the two men? Coogler discussed that during an interview with BallisLife (which is available on YouTube). When asked if he and Jordan have a player-coach dynamic, Coogler likened it to that of two iconic NBA players:

Considering how impactful they were within the sports world, I think it’s definitely appropriate to compare them to the always-sharp Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler. Sure, Jordan and Coogler don’t have six championship titles to show for their work. What they do possess, though, are five critically acclaimed films and a slew of impressive box office receipts.

As a professional basketball fan, I really dig the Oakland native’s reference to the Chicago Bulls icons and hall of farmers. What I really love to hear, though, is the love that Ryan Coogler has for his frequent collaborator. Later in his interview, Coogler shared more thoughts on how he and his creative partner are similar and the way in which that manifests on their sets:

If you ask me, that’s an ideal way to work and, by the looks of it, that methodology certainly yields incredible results. Most recently, Sinners has proven to be a box office anomaly, and it’s also penetrated the cultural zeitgeist in a way that only a few movies can. The film could ultimately prove to be quite profitable for Ryan Coogler, though his recent interviews appear to suggest that he’s just happy his genre-bending film is connecting with the general public.

I’m hopeful that Sinners continues to reach audiences and of course, that the Coogler/Jordan partnership continues to flourish as time goes on. They have a level of camaraderie that’s vital to a successful collaboration and, as Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen dominated on the court, I’m confident that Jordan and Coogler will have that level of success in Hollywood. It sounds like Bill Cartwright, who was also an assistant coach for the Bulls when they won titles in ‘97 and ‘98, is aiming to dwell on more positive thoughts. Given he possesses that mindset, he was asked if there was some way that he could personally try to help his former teammates mend their relationship. Cartwright doesn’t seem keen on doing that, but he also added some more level-headed thoughts:

The comments above actually parallel some that were made by another Bulls teammate, Craig Hodges, just a few weeks ago. Hodges surmised that Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen’s relationship really changed due to the latter also being named to the NBA’s 50th Anniversary team. In addition to that, he expressed his hope that Pippen and Jordan would work everything out and added that “we too grown for that shit.”

Over the last several years, other Chicago Bulls players have weighed in on the beef as well. Dennis Rodman chimed in and, while he seemed surprised by the notion of friction between his on-court cohorts, he believed they’d reconcile. However, Charles Oakley offered a grim perspective, as he bluntly opined that any kind of bond that MJ and Pip had is “over.”

Scottie Pippen said, earlier this year, that he and Michael Jordan actually “never were great friends.” Still, fans may wish that whatever issues they may have can be resolved. It’s hard to say whether that’ll actually come to pass, but maybe we ought to (figuratively) take a page out of Bill Cartwright’s book and remain positive about the whole situation.

Hodges played for the team for four seasons, winning the championship titles with the squad in 1991 and 1992. During an episode of All the Smoke, Hodges was asked about the relationship between his former teammates. He subsequently theorized (as shared in an X clip) that their dynamic changed when a certain distinction was awarded to a number of players years ago:

In 1996, the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History (as part of the league’s 50th anniversary) were announced, with Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen being named amongst their ranks. The two were subsequently named to the 75th anniversary team in 2021 as well. What Craig Hodges is inferring is that once Pippen was named amongst the all-time greats, his confidence increased, and that apparently changed the big brother, little brother dynamic he seemingly had with Jordan on the court.

The two Dream Team members definitely don’t seem to have any kind of sibling-like relationship now. In some ways, it’s hard to believe it’s been nearly five years since The Last Dance premiered. ESPN’s Chicago Bulls-centered docuseries was a much-needed treat during the COVID quarantine in 2020, and it scored high ratings as well as acclaim from fans and pundits alike. Someone who wasn’t pleased with the 10-part show was Bulls legend Scottie Pippen, who criticized both it and former teammate Michael Jordan. CinemaBlend just spoke with one of the producers, who shared his feelings on the backlash and more.

Scottie Pippen initially denied reports that he was “livid” over the doc, though he later revealed that he told Michael Jordan (whose production company had creative control) he “wasn’t too pleased,” and they haven’t spoken since. That was in 2020 and, by late 2021, Pippen shared blunter thoughts on the doc in his memoir, Unguarded. He claimed the production merely “glorified” Jordan while not giving other players their due credit. Pippen also asserted that the production made him look selfish.

Jake Rogal was among several producers on Last Dance (which can currently be streamed with a Netflix subscription). I had the opportunity to speak with Rogal while he was promoting the newly released docuseries he directed, Court of Gold. When I asked for his take on the former small forward’s sentiments, Rogal admitted to feeling “bad” about them. He also explained why he didn’t believe the documentary painted the six-time NBA champion in a negative light:

The allegations of selfishness specifically pertained to the Bulls’ 1997-1998 season, during which Scottie Pippen intentionally delayed ankle surgery. Said move was made so that his summer offseason wouldn’t be filled with rehabilitation activities, though it also delayed his availability to the team until well into the regular season. Fans have long debated the merits of Pippen’s decision but, in the decades following that, the basketball hall of famer has been praised for his heroics on the court and contributions to both the Bulls and the game of basketball. Jake Rogal’s comments exemplify the sort of praise Pippen still receives.

Of course, Scottie Pippen wasn’t the only former player who took issue with the series. Former Bulls player Horace Grant, who was interviewed for the doc, called out the “so-called documentary,” in which His Airness accused him of leaking locker room secrets. Fellow interviewee Steve Kerr was mostly fine with the doc, though he was also somewhat "disappointed" by how Pippen was depicted. With all of this in mind, I asked the co-producer if there’s anything he’d change about the production, and he provided an honest answer:

Jake Rogal’s belief that nothing needed to be changed is hard to argue with, especially considering that the doc that was ultimately released scored a Creative Arts Emmy for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series. Still, whether someone liked it or not, they’re entitled to their opinion. As for Scottie Pippen, he's also free to have whatever opinion he desires.

Conversations about NBA GOATS are not only had by the general public but by those who played the game as well. That wasn’t necessarily what the former Central Arkansas player was touching on during his recent interview. However, his comments on how an accomplished, contemporary player like LeBron James stacks up to MJ waded into that discussion. It seems that in the ex-small forward’s mind, James can’t even be compared to his former Bulls teammate:

LeBron James, the leading scorer in NBA history, is certainly a formidable force in his own right. However, Scottie Pippen does make an interesting point in that Michael Jordan accomplished so much in a condensed timeframe, arguably due to his drive. Even Magic Johnson called Michael Jordan the “strongest” athlete he’d ever seen. This level of praise also falls in line with Pippen’s previous admission that he would still play with Jordan, if given the chance again.

It still seems that Scottie Pippen doesn’t have any interest in patching anything up with Michael Jordan, at this point, though. Honestly, that prospect may be somewhat disappointing to longtime fans who enjoyed watching them play alongside each other on the court. At the very least, though, it seems that Pippen does still have an appreciation for Jordan’s drive and believes he stands tall among other legends of the game.

Pippen – the former wife of NBA legend Scottie Pippen – is a single woman now. Nevertheless, some still can’t help but wonder if she’d consider getting married again. Now, the reality TV veteran is addressing the possibility.

The 50-year-old media personality has long been known to interact with her fans on social media. Just recently, she took part in a Q&A on Instagram, during which she fielded a number of queries. Bravo captured screenshots from the chat, with one user asking her point-blank if she could ever see herself getting married again. Well, as it so happens, the RHOM star answered with a simple, “yes.” She was also asked, at some point, just what she looks for in a man. From there, she said she wants one to be “smart, cute, kind & funny.”

It’s interesting to hear that the Bravo veteran is indeed open to tying the knot again. The dating pool can be difficult to navigate, of course, especially when you’re a celebrity of some kind. Still, judging by the comments she shared, the Traitors alum is open to what may come and knows what she wants to boot.

On rare occasions, Larsa has discussed her marriage to the six-time NBA champion, even giving intimate details about their dynamic. Back in 2023, she went viral for sharing details about her and Scottie’s sex life. (Those remarks were joked about by sportscaster Shannon Sharpe.)

Back in late 2022, it was rumored that Marcus Jordan and Larsa Pippen were an item after they were apparently spotted on a date in Florida. Pippen initially denied the notion that she was dating the son of Michael Jordan (her ex-husband’s former teammate). She would, however, confirm the romance in early 2023. By the beginning of 2024, it was reported that “Larcus” had broken up, though Pippen later confirmed that wasn’t the case. Weeks later, though, Pippen and Jordan broke up for good.

The Real Housewives alum has rarely spoken about her relationship with Marcus Jordan since their breakup. She has, however, discussed the possibility of re-entering the dating pool. In October, the former basketball wife expressed an interest in finding a new mate but also said that she’d be making a change to her love life. The responses to the pairing have been interesting thus far, and the reactions have greatly varied in certain respects. Someone I personally didn’t expect to weigh in on it is former basketball coach Dan Dakich. Not only did he chime in on the romance itself, but he also shared why Michael Jordan has some bragging rights in this situation.

There are several key points of interest when it comes to the relationship between “Larcus.” One is that there’s a notable age difference between them, with Marcus Jordan being 33 and Larsa Pippen being 49. There’s also the fact that Marcus is the son of Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan, and Larsa used to be married to the star’s ex-teammate, Scottie Pippen. (And Scottie’s been feuding with Michael in recent years.) Like some others, Dan Dakich – who has a tiny bit of history with Marcus – was also surprised by the coupling. He had the following to say:

However, insiders claimed that Michael’s comments hurt Larsa and contributed to the alleged split. As for Scottie Pippen, he’s yet to speak out publicly about his former wife’s love life.

Some may surely agree with Dan Dakich, who’s now a sportscaster and media personality. But, at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what commentators think or whether Michael Jordan or Scottie Pippen are “winning” in the matter. It simply comes down to whether or not Larsa and Marcus are truly happy and, as of this writing, that seems to be the case.

Together, the trio traveled to different cities in Australia, where they regaled audiences with stories from their time as players. While in the Land Down Under, Pippen actually stopped by Today to discuss his legacy. During the chat (which is on YouTube), he was asked whether he believes Jordan is the Greatest of All Time. Pippen agreed with that assessment, saying: 

I mean, there are surely plenty of sports fans who would agree with the hall of famer’s comments. Michael Jordan is widely regarded as the NBA’s GOAT, though other players like Kareen Abdul-Jabbar and Bill Russell are also brought up in the discussion. But, as mentioned, he does indeed have a lot of MVP awards (five, to be exact). What I also appreciate about these comments is that the six-time champion also made note of his entire team’s contribution to the Bulls’ success decades ago. All in all, these sentiments exude a vibe that greatly differs from the tone of the other comments he’s made about MJ during the past few years. 

This uneasy situation began when Scottie Pippen shared blunt thoughts on The Last Dance, on which Michael Jordan’s production company had editorial control. Much of the basketball world seemed taken aback by the sentiments. Former NBA star and current pundit Charles Barkley clapped back at his former Dream Team cohort, accusing him of “big-game hunting” in order to sell his memoir. Even the great Jerry West was confused by the “horrible” assertion. 

So, despite all of that, could Scottie Pippen’s compliment serve as a step towards a reconciliation between him and Michael Jordan? That’s hard to say. After all, Pippen could just be aiming to be objective even if he does hold any resentment over The Last Dance or anything else. Still, I think many would agree when I say that it would be great to see the two ballers back on good terms again.

By now, a number of basketball aficionados and general sports fans alike are probably aware that Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen are not on solid footing right now. It was confirmed that Scottie Pippen will be embarking on the “No Bull” tour, courtesy of the National Basketball League. Pippen will be joined by ex-teammates Horace Grant and Luc Longley, who will regale attendees with stories of their time playing with the championship-winning NBA team during the ‘90s. Per the tour’s description on Ticketek, the trio will discuss topics like their experiences working with coach Phil Jackson and their time playing alongside Air Jordan. With all of this in mind, it seems like more than a given that they’ll also touch on the Emmy-winning documentary series. 

This venture is set to take place in Australia and, as of this writing, the group will be visiting three cities. The first engagement is in Tasmania on February 23, and the NBA veterans will later make their way to both Melbourne and Sydney. Actor Shane Jacobson is set to moderate these panels, which are touted as offering sports fans unparalleled access to behind-the-scenes stories. 

If I’m being completely honest, I wasn’t expecting such a collaboration. While Scottie Pippen has spoken out on multiple occasions, I didn’t imagine that he’d take part in such a project. Yet I suppose that if he’s going to talk about his days as a player, he might as well get paid for it. 

What Have Scottie Pippen And Some Other Ex-Bulls Said About Michael Jordan And The Last Dance Thus Far?

To say that Scottie Pippen didn’t mince words when talking about The Last Dance would be an understatement. While he initially seemed to downplay the idea that he disliked the doc, Pippen revealed in late 2021 that he was “upset” by it. He claimed that the 10 episodes “glorified” Michael Jordan, whose company had editorial control, and didn’t give due credit to other players. From there, Pippen claimed Jordan “ruined” basketball and even called him a “horrible” athlete to play with. He subsequently received backlash from Charles Barkley, former coach Stan Van Gundy and more over the statements.

Horace Grant was unhappy with the production as well, specifically the fact that MJ accused him of leaking locker room secrets that led to the publishing of the book The Jordan Rules. Grant, in turn, claimed that his ex-teammate lied in the “so-called” documentary. He also declared that if the Space Jam alum held a “grudge” of some sort then they should “settle this like men.”

Unlike his teammates, Luc Longley – who is a native of Australia – couldn’t be reached for the production given that he still resides in the Land Down Under. So we’ve yet to hear his take on how his years winning NBA titles with the team, and I’m particularly curious to hear what he has to say. And, surely, there are those who are curious as to whether his thoughts are as his “No Bull” tourmates. Time will tell, but what I’ll say now is that basketball fans should gear up, because these events could generate some truly eye-opening stories.

Few would deny that Michael Jordan is one of the greatest athletes that ever lived, and he remains a revered basketball legend amongst fans and fellow stars alike. Even Shaquille O’Neal was intimidated by him. Not many were able to reach the heights that Air Jordan hit (both figuratively and literally). However, there are those who critique certain aspects of his game. For the longest time, many have questioned his merits as a defensive player. The latest to weigh in on that debate is NBA veteran Gilbert Arenas, who made an argument during a discussion on a podcast. In doing so, he also mentioned Jordan’s most famous teammate, Scottie Pippen. 

MJ did have defensive skills, even if he was unable to guard a wide variety of positions like LeBron James has done for much of his career. During an episode of Gil’s Arena, former NBA journeyman Gilbert Arenas’ discussed the debate over the Chicago Bulls legend’s abilities when not handling the ball. Arenas’ contention is that Air Jordan was made into a better defensive player due to the people that were around him. The specific person Arenas mentioned was Scottie Pippen. He made his argument when issuing the following sentiments: 

One should also mention that at the end of Pip’s first year, His Airness was also crowned Defensive Player of the Year. It’s true that the two Bulls players definitely had incredible synergy during the years that they played together. And I would agree with the Washington Wizards alum that “Pip” was important to Jordan’s development on the defensive side of the court. All in all, the two complimented each other well on the court and are still considered one of the greatest on-court duos in the history of basketball.

With that information in mind, it’s a shame that the two have been estranged for a while now. ESPN’s The Last Dance (which can be streamed with a Netflix subscription) seemingly caused a rift between them. Scottie Pippen didn’t mince words when expressing his disdain for the docuseries, as he claimed that Michael Jordan used it to prop himself up and didn’t give due credit to other players. Since then, Pippen has criticized his former teammate’s skills, even going as far as to say that Jordan was a “horrible” player. As of this writing, Jordan himself has not publicly responded to the comments. 

A number of other basketball vets have taken issue with those comments. MJ’s former friend, Charles Barkley, clapped back at the famed small forward, accusing him of “big-game hunting” in order to sell his 2021 memoir, Unguarded. Barkley later shared more thoughts, saying that the jabs aimed at MJ are “really not cool at all.” Even NBA icon Jerry West expressed disappointment with the comments shared by the Bulls alum. 

Regardless of what their personal relationship looks like now, Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen will continue to be linked. And the discussion regarding the latter’s impact on the former’s defense is an example of that. After hearing Gilbert Arenas’ thoughts, I’d also be curious to know where some other players stand on the topic.

January 2024 was meant to mark a momentous occasion for the Chicago Bulls, but not everything went according to plan. The organization held its inaugural Ring of Honor ceremony on the 11th, which celebrated the accomplishments of both former players and executives. Scottie Pippen was among those being initiated, but he ultimately skipped out on the festivities. Over a week later, another Pippen graced the United Center, and it was the hall of famer’s son, Scotty Jr. That particular occasion marked the point guard’s first time playing in his father’s old stomping grounds, and he spoke out about the experience.

Scotty Pippen Jr. plays for the Memphis Grizzlies, and the team squared off against the Bulls in Chicago on Saturday, January 20. Ultimately, it was the home team that managed to come away with the victory, as they won 125 to 96. It may not have been a close game, but that didn’t seem to sour Pippen on the experience. On X, a fan posted a clip of the 23-year-old athlete driving into the lane for a layup during the game. They also made note of the fact that his famous father’s jersey number hangs in the rafters. Such a moment had to have been surreal for the young athlete, and it’s easy to understand why. There’s a lot of basketball history linked to the United Center in general, though the familial connection he has to it all. It’s likely that some of us might’ve been a bit intimidated about playing in the same place that a championship-winning parent once played. However, it seems apparent that Jr. relished the big moment.

It’s ironic that such an occasion comes shortly after his dad opted not to attend the Bulls’ Ring of Honor ceremony, where the 1995-1996 team, coach Phil Jackson and more were immortalized. Many have speculated about why Scottie Pippen opted not to attend, and some believe it had to do with his feud with former teammate Michael Jordan, who also didn’t show up but sent a video message. That spat was initiated in 2021 after Pippen shared blunt thoughts on ESPN’s The Last Dance docuseries (which is streamable with a Netflix subscription). He said Jordan used to prop himself up without giving due credit to his teammates. Since then, Pippen has also shared other comments on his longtime cohort, even referring to Jordan as a “horrible player.”

Some believed that if the two were to have crossed paths at the event, there would've been fireworks. Charles Barkley even shared savage thoughts, saying that he would’ve loved to have seen just how awkward it might’ve become. Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf addressed the absences of the star former players, admitting that he wasn’t sure just how much effort went into landing them. Though he also admitted that it would’ve been “better if everybody were here.”

While Scottie Pippen’s ties with Michael Jordan and the Bulls organization as a whole remain murky, Scotty seems to be moving right along with his own NBA career. Before signing with Memphis, he played for the Lakers, and he’s steadily been making a name for himself. It’s likely that he’ll continue to keep his pop’s own legacy in mind while staying focused on his own path.

The Chicago Bulls marked a major occasion last week, as Thursday, January 11, marked the NBA organization’s inaugural Ring of Honor ceremony. A number of notable franchise alums were celebrated during the event, including coach Phil Jackson as well as the entire ‘95-’96 championship roster. Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen were also amongst the honorees, though both were notably absent. This turn of events happened amid the pair’s (one-sided) feud with one another. Now, thoughts from two of the team’s key execs have surfaced amid the news that both of the hall of farmers skipped out on the festivities. 

After the event was announced in December 2023, there was a lot of speculation regarding how it might go down if the feuding former teammates were to have both shown up. It would seem that those fireworks – which even Charles Barkley was anticipating – weren’t meant to go off. Chicago Bulls team owner Jerry Reinsdorf didn’t discuss the drama between his two former star players while speaking to the Chicago Sun-Times after the ceremony. What the sports executive share his two cents on were the actual absences of the iconic athletes: 

Indeed “His Airness” did send a pre-recorded message to mark the occasion. That video was shared to Instagram and, in it, the six-time NBA champion remarked that wished he could’ve been present. Many seem to be under the impression that it’s the feud that kept Michael Jordan from attending and possibly running into his old on-court partner. The two have seemingly been on the outs since, when Pippen called out The Last Dance. Pippen accused his former teammate of using the ESPN docuseries to prop up himself and neglecting to give his teammates (some of which could’ve used more time in the series) their due credit. Since then, Pippen has thrown shade at MJ in other instances, at one point even referring to him as a “horrible” player. Despite all of that drama, Bulls President and CEO Michael Reinsdorf shared other possible reasons while discussing the night: 

Another notable figure that didn’t show up to the event was none other than Dennis Rodman, whose travel plans were canceled due to inclement weather, per ESPN. But, though there were absences, there were a number of stars who did show up, like Phil Jackson, Steve Kerr and Toni Kukoč. For all the talk about a potential flair-up if Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen had shown up, this actually would’ve made a nice night for a reconciliation. It’s hard to say whether such a thing would’ve happened or will happen at some point. We’ll just have to wait and see.

It’s been a few years since the (one-sided) feud between former Chicago Bulls players Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan began. Since Pippen called out Jordan over ESPN’s The Last Dance in 2021, the two apparently haven’t spoken. It would seem that at the very least, however, they could be in the same place soon. They’re both set to receive a tremendous honor on the same night, which means they might meet up. On that note, Charles Barkley shared some savage thoughts on the prospect of that happening. 

It was confirmed a few days ago that both Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen are set to be inducted into the Bulls’ newly established Ring of Honor on January 12. Also among the honorees, per Bulls News, are Phil Jackson, late team general manager Jerry Krause and the organization’s entire 1995-1996 roster. So it sounds like there are going to be a lot of former players at the United Center for the private gala and halftime ceremony that night. And Charles Barkley is hoping to be there, if only just to watch any potential fireworks. The “Round Mound of Rebound” spoke about the event when he appeared as a guest on The Dan Patrick Show. After expressing disbelief over Pippen and Jordan being honored on the same night, Barkley had this to say: 

Leave it to the former NBA MVP to be so brutally honest and not contain his enthusiasm about possibly seeing his former Dream Team cohorts crossing paths. The Inside the NBA host, who signed an extension in 2022, sounds very serious about this though and, interestingly enough, he may be able to go. Later in the interview (which was shared to X), the former Phoenix Sun learned that January 12 is on a Friday, so he’ll be free to attend. He then weighed in on how everything might go down and talked about that night’s matchup, which will see the Bulls play the Golden State Warriors:

Though he initially claimed he wasn’t displeased with The Last Dance docuseries, Scottie Pippen later shared blunt thoughts about it in his memoir, Unguarded. Charles Barkley clapped back at Scottie Pippen for his comments early on. At the time, he accused Pippen of dishing out hot takes merely for the sake of selling his book. Weeks later, Barkley shared more thoughts, during which he doubled down on his belief that the former Bull was trying to raise his sales. The former baller, who admitted that he hadn’t read the biography at that point, also questioned whether Pippen could’ve articulated his thoughts in a manner that was more civil. 

The question now, though, is whether the two NBA legends will both be present for the occasion and can be civil if they see each other. There’s honestly no telling what might go down at the United Center on January 12. But ahead of that, it seems clear that Charles Barkley is going to do what he can to ensure that he’s in the building.

There are some celebrity romances that are surprising, but then you have those that are just downright unexpected. That’s how one might categorize the relationship between Marcus Jordan and Larsa Pippen. Michael Jordan’s son and Scottie Pippen’s ex wife have been going strong for a little while now, and both seem content. However, as you would expect, there are still those who doubt their affection for each other. So it tracks that he shared those sentiments during that segment of the show, which was shared in an X post. It’s difficult to deny the fact that their relationship is a bit atypical and somewhat awkward given the ongoing (and one-sided-feud) between Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen. However, only they can live their lives, and both seem incredibly happy to have each other.

Marcus Jordan and Larsa Pippen were just friends and enjoyed spending time together before they became a couple. But Pippen ultimately realized her feelings for Jordan after she saw him talking to another woman and began to become envious. The public first caught wind of their relationship after they were spotted on a “double date” in Miami back in September 2022. Though Pippen initially denied the rumors, she and her man went public by early 2023. 

Their romance has definitely stoked up mixed emotions about the public, and at least one person had no problem airing their views in public. When the pair went to a football game last fall, Michael Jordan’s son was screamed at by a commentator. The encounter was captured in a video that eventually went viral. 

At one point, it even seemed that Michael Jordan was against the pairing because, earlier this year, when a paparazzi asked him if he approved, he shared a resounding no. However, Marcus later set the record straight, saying that his father was just flying high after a big night and is currently in his and Larsa Pippen’s corner. (Scottie has yet to publicly comment.) Even more support came from Pippen’s Real Housewives of Miami co-stars. So while Marcus and Pippen are sure to have detractors as time goes on, it’s evident that they’re blocking out that negativity and moving forward as partners.

Dennis Rodman – best known as “The Worm” during his days as a player – was one of the wildest personalities in the National Basketball Association back in the day. While he may still have some of his eccentricities today, he’s also known to provide honest and cerebral thoughts here and there. The basketball hall of famer was recently asked about the Emmy-winning ESPN documentary series and, during the chat, he fielded a question about his two teammates. Rodman said he never say any negativity within the Jordan/Pippen dynamic years ago, before saying whether he thinks they’ll resolve their differences: 

Overall, the comments the five-time NBA champion shared with TMZ are reasonable. This also isn’t the first time he’s ever commented on the rift between his former comrades. When Dennis Rodman first commented on the feud, he similarly surmised that Scottie Pippen felt “hurt” over his depiction in The Last Dance. He also opined that Pippen wanted the level of recognition that Michael Jordan has received over the course of his career. On that note, Rodman has since praised Pippen, crediting him for helping to revolutionize the small forward position. Rodman’s optimistic thoughts may be somewhat comforting for fans, but it’s hard to say whether that prediction will become a reality given what’s gone down. 

Scottie Pippen initially denied having had any issues with how he was portrayed in The Last Dance. However, in his memoir, Unguarded, he shared more thoughts on it as well as Michael Jordan and didn’t mince words. Pippen admitted to being “upset” by the docuseries and claimed Jordan – who had creative control on the project – simply “glorified” himself. Since making those declarations, Pippen has taken more jabs at his old teammate, even going so far as to say he “ruined” the game of basketball. 

A number of notable NBA alums have weighed in on the matter, including several notable Bulls alums. One such person who did that was Charles Oakley, who offered a grim take on the duo’s friendship moving forward. Not only did Oakley think “it's over” but he also claimed it “wasn't great from the get-go.” 

Those who are like me are probably hoping Dennis Rodman’s assumption will ultimately be correct. It goes without saying that a lot of damage has seemingly been done, and it could theoretically be difficult for the pair to find common ground at this point. Still, I’d like to believe it’s possible for the two beloved NBA greats to find some common ground.

The NBA legends have been embroiled in a feud at least since the 2020 release of The Last Dance docuseries, which may be a contributing factor in the GOAT’s apparent apprehension about the new Jordan/Pippen dynamic duo. Well, don’t look now, MJ, because if Marcus’ recent comments are to be believed, wedding bells might be fast approaching.

Rumblings of a relationship between Marcus Jordan and Larsa Pippen started back in September 2022, when they were seen out on what appeared to be a double-date. Less than a year later, it seems the couple might be planning on taking a huge step and tying the knot. Paparazzi found the couple leaving a West Hollywood restaurant on August 16, TMZ reports, and when Jordan was asked if a wedding might be coming soon, he smiled and said: 

When asked if the couple had set a date, Marcus Jordan reportedly said they had started the planning process. That’s a pretty big announcement from him and Larsa Pippen, who the trade reported was sporting a ring on the all-important finger (though it wasn’t clear if it was an official engagement ring). If the two are already looking for a wedding venue, the planning really must be in full swing, and it won’t be long before Scottie Pippen’s ex-wife is officially Michael Jordan’s daughter-in-law.

How His Airness feels about this is still a bit of a question mark. Marcus Jordan previously said that his parents were “at ease and comfortable” with the two of them dating; however, Michael Jordan seemed to dispute that in a one-word response to a question about his opinion of his son’s relationship. Following a dinner in Paris, the six-time NBA champ was asked if he approved of Larcus, to which he simply replied: “No.”

Still Marcus Jordan insisted that his dad was fine, and that MJ had even given his son a heads-up about what he’d said. In the end, the Chicago Bulls legend’s opinion doesn’t matter — as Marcus pointed out — but many fans have still found it strange to see the Jordan and Pippen names in the headlines in this new context.  

Prior to the formation of this relationship, Scottie Pippen had been in the news criticizing the ESPN docuseries The Last Dance, which in 2021 the Hall of Famer said “glorified Michael Jordan” while not giving enough praise to him and the rest of their teammates. This spring Pippen went so far as to say Jordan was “a horrible player.” His opinion on his ex-wife’s new man is unknown, but he may not be too concerned, since he’s been seen out with a mystery woman.

And I’m not referring to Emily Ratajkowski and Eric André (who’ve since broken up). I’m referring to newly minted couple Marcus Jordan – the son of NBA great Michael Jordan – and Larsa Pippen – the ex-wife of Michael’s former teammate, Scottie Pippen. While I’m not sure many people would’ve put Marcus and Larsa together, they are indeed an item and have been steadily creating buzz. They haven’t been together quite a year yet, but their relationship has been filled with some key moments that we’re going to discuss. 

Before we get into the specifics though, I’d be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge the fact that this romance emerged during a very interesting time. Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen aren’t exactly on the best of terms right now. The two hall of farmers have been engaged in a feud – one that’s only seen Pippen throw jabs. He was unhappy with Jordan’s handling of acclaimed docuseries The Last Dance, which centered on the Bulls’ final championship run. Pippen hasn’t minced words on the show or his former friend, claiming that Air Jordan ruined the game of basketball and was a “horrible” player. 

So I say all of that simply to give you some context as to why the timing of this couple’s public debut is a bit awkward. The feud info will also help inform at least one memorable moment from Larcus’ romance. On that note, let’s dive in.

The Marcus Jordan And Larsa Pippen Buzz Began With A “Double Date”

If we’re going to talk about this saga, then we’re going to have to start at the beginning. Well, we can’t say for sure that this was the beginning, but it was the first whiff of the relationship that most of the public got. Photos surfaced in September 2022 that seemed to show Larsa Pippen (now 49) and Marcus Jordan (now 32) on a date in Miami. The two also appeared to be accompanied by two other individuals. The group apparently enjoyed lunch at Zuma, a Japanese restaurant in the area. 

The photos were arguably enough to give one the impression that the two were having a good time together. However, they didn’t serve as strong enough evidence to confirm that they were dating at the time. That didn’t stop much of the public from speculating on the matter, unsurprisingly. After those initial photos came to light, the two were photographed together on a number of other occasions in the months that followed. They were also recorded on one particular instance, and said encounter was awkward, to say the least.

The Couple Was Screamed At By A Spectator During A Date

Yes, you read the subheader above correctly. Larcus had an unpleasant experience when they were out together in the fall of 2022. They were taking in a San Diego Chargers game at SoFi Stadium when a fan recognized them. Said person then began to yell, and the video went viral. Take a look for yourself: 

This is where the Pippen/Jordan feud comes into play. The person recording likely referred to Marcus as “cold” due to the fact that Scottie was already beefing with Michael by that point. To be clear, they shouldn’t have been yelled at, though this does signify how deep basketball loyalties run. Of course, we still need to mention the fact that the relationship still wasn’t even confirmed at that point, as neither Larsa nor Marcus had publicly addressed it. That would all change months later.

Larsa Pippen Was Ultimately The Member Of The Couple To Speak Out

Both would remain mum on the nature of their relationship. That is, until Larsa Pippen was asked for answers. The Real Housewives of Miami alum addressed the rumors, claiming, at the time, that she and Marcus Jordan were nothing more than good friends: 

I can’t personally say for sure just how many people were convinced by those comments, yet I’m willing to bet that not everyone was sold. Well, believe it or not, the two did start off as friends, though something changed. That leads us into our next key moment, which once again comes courtesy of the reality TV veteran. 

Larsa Pippen Remembers The Exact Moment She Realized Her Feelings For Her Beau

Every relationship begins with some kind of spark and, while we can’t say when Marcus Jordan realized his lady was the one for him, we do know when she felt something. The media personality can name the precise moment she discovered her feelings for the former college basketball player. And interestingly enough, she has another woman to thank for it: 

And the rest is history, I suppose. Of course, once they linked up there were still plenty of other variables to consider, mainly their families’ reactions. Marcus Jordan eventually had to tell his dad about his lady, and he was apparently supported. That notion was seemingly challenged sometime later, however, after Air Jordan made a public appearance in Paris.

Michael Jordan Seemingly Gave The Relationship A Thumbs Down

Surely, there were plenty of people who were wondering what the six-time NBA champion thought about his son going out with his ex-teammate’s former wife. That answer seemed to arrive in the summer of 2023. Michael Jordan was swarmed by paparazzi while leaving a restaurant in Paris and was ultimately asked if he approved of the relationship. He yelled, “No” and, after being asked again, he merely shook his head. 

This was definitely surprising, as Marcus Jordan had previously noted that his father did indeed support him and his lady. Even if one didn’t know that, they might’ve also naturally assumed that the proud pop would’ve backed his son no matter what. At first glance, this seemed like a devastating moment in Larcus’ story, yet not all was as it appeared. 

Marcus Jordan Set The Record Straight On His Father’s Comments

It was eventually reported that Marcus Jordan and Larsa Pippen would address what Michael said, and they did indeed set the record straight. Days later, they released an episode of their Separation Anxiety podcast, which gave them to space to do so. Marcus explained that his father was in Paris for Jordan Brand’s Quai 54 tournament, which is an annual event. When Michael was leaving the restaurant, he had just finished the dinner that’s usually held as well. Marcus reasoned that his dad was feeling good at the time after possibly having some shots of tequila. The younger Jordan then provided even more context: 

So apparently, His Airness isn’t actually critical of the pairing. Though that didn’t stop Larsa Pippen from feeling somewhat “traumatized” by the fact that the comments made the rounds across the web. Marcus Jordan, for his part, also admitted that the “timing” wasn’t ideal, yet he actually found the situation to be somewhat laughable: 

The Jordan family’s competitive nature has been well documented, so it’s very likely that Michael was just poking fun at his boy. Joking or not, this whole thing makes for an interesting chapter in this unconventional love story. (I’m personally curious as to whether this is the last thing we hear the celebrated athlete say about his son’s love life.)

This is certainly a whirlwind romance if I’ve ever seen one, and it’s hard to look away from it. One can reasonably say Marcus Jordan and Larsa Pippen have seen their ups and downs as a couple thus And there’s a firm chance there are more important moments and milestones to come. I don’t know about you, but I’ll be watching to see how it all pans out.

The Arkansas native did prove to be an X-factor on those championship teams and was usually second in the scoring column after his teammate. And during the time that Air Jordan retired from the game to play baseball, his on-court partner stepped up as the leader of the team. And as the former Detroit Piston stated during his interview, “Pip” did help to take some of the ease off of his teammate due to his scoring prowess. “The Worm” also argued that his colleague helped to revolutionize a particular on-court position: 

The NBA great capped off his thoughts by saying that both Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan “played well together.” When Dennis Rodman commented on the feud a year ago, he offered similar thoughts on Pippen’s impact on the point-forward position. He also said that he never saw any kind of bad blood between his two teammates when they played together though did opine that Pippen might’ve been upset by Jordan allegedly being paid $10 million for The Last Dance. Despite that mention though, Rodman has shared mostly diplomatic sentiments on the feud. 

Other thoughts on the matter have been somewhat mixed. Charles Barkley called out Pip for taking shots at Michael Jordan and accused him of “big game hunting” in order to sell his memoir. Former Chicago Bull Charles Oakley also disagreed with the notion that the fan-favorite small forward is as great as Michael Jordan. And after the “horrible” comments went viral, Lakers icon Jerry West weighed in, praising Pip but also questioning his criticisms of Jordan. 

At this point, the chances of a reconciliation between Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen doesn’t seem all that likely. What seems more of a sure thing, though, is that more former players like Dennis Rodman or Charles Barkley are going to continue to chime in as time goes on.

TMZ obtained some snapshots - one of which showed the lady pulling up her shirt and showing her breasts, which were clad in a white bra, while the window was rolled down. 

That’s certainly one way to make an impression, I’d say. Some probably have plenty of questions now, with the biggest pertaining to the identity of the former Chicago Bull’s companion. We also don’t know for sure whether these two are actually romantically involved at the moment. One also can’t help but wonder why she chose to flash her boobs for the press to see. It’s likely that she was just being playful during that moment, but it’s still a pretty wild move nonetheless. But by the looks of it, the basketball icon had no problem with it, based on the large smile on his face.

It honestly feels like Scottie Pippen hasn’t been smiling all that often lately, considering his (one-sided) feud with former teammate Michael Jordan. Pippen has been brutally honest about his disdain for ESPN’s The Last Dance and, for a while now, he’s taken shots at Jordan. He most recently referred to His Airness as a “horrible” player, and the comments have caused even NBA great Jerry West to scratch his head. Despite criticism though, he’s sticking to his views, it seems.

While Michael Jordan has yet to comment on the blowback he’s received from his old buddy, he did offer a brief thought on his son’s relationship. Jordan was asked if he approved of the situation and simply responded, “No.” The blunt reaction seemingly runs counter to Marcus’ claim that his father was cool with the romance. There’s yet to be clarification on that front but, apparently, Marcus and Larsa Pippen are planning to address Michael’s sentiment during an upcoming episode of their podcast.

That drama aside, the two seem to be incredibly comfortable with the state of their relationship and haven’t minded sharing a few details. For example, Larsa Pippen recalled the moment she realized she had feelings for her friend-turned-beau. She apparently had the epiphany when she saw him talking to another woman. While the two have had support from Pippen’s Real Housewives co-stars and fans, they have had their detractors. One person even went as far as to scream at them while they were on a date. Still, they seem mostly unbothered by the critiques. 

It definitely seems that Scottie Pippen has that same ability to block out the haters, and I assume he’ll do just that if anyone calls out him or his lady friend out because she flashed her breasts. On the whole, this entire Pippen/Jordan saga is getting wild, and it’s anyone’s guess as to where it’s all heading. 

Hollywood has certainly seen some unlikely pairings over the years, but I’m not sure that anyone would’ve matched up Larsa Pippen and Marcus Jordan. One of the many logistics that inquiring minds have been eager to know is how Michael and Scottie actually feel about the situation. While the jury is still out when it comes to the latter, the former bluntly provided a one-word response when asked if he approves of his son’s romance. 

Those who’ve seen the legendary Chicago Bull’s interviews or The Last Dance (which can be streamed with a Netflix subscription) know that he’s an honest guy. At times, he’s also shown to be a man of few words. So it pretty much tracks that he would only provide a single word when prompted for a comment. TMZ caught up with him after he was finishing up dinner in Paris on Sunday and, after he was asked if he was fine with what I dub “Larcus” he simply shouted:

Well, if this message is anything to go on, then His Airness is not pleased with the fact that his son is dating the ex-wife of his former teammate. This is honestly a pretty surprising turn of events, considering what’s been said by both Marcus Jordan and his lady over the past few months. Larsa addressed her romance with her beau on Tamron Hall, where she seemed to imply that her boyfriend’s parents were fine with the situation. And just a few weeks ago, the two recalled the moment the Jordan family learned about them linking up. Jordan said that his father had shown him the “utmost” support” but, now, one can’t help but question that notion.

The pair, who began as friends, were first linked after they were spotted amid a “double date” in Miami. While the two eventually confirmed that they’re partners, Larsa Pippen initially said that they were just friends. She later got candid about linking up with her man, saying that she realized her feelings for him when she spotted another girl talking to him. Responses to the pairing have been mixed, to say the least. On the one hand, Pippen’s Real Housewives co-stars are all for it. But then again, so fans aren't too keen on it, as one even screamed at the pair while they were on a date.

Based on the viral video, that spectator’s animosity stemmed from the fact that Marcus Jordan was dating his lady amid the one-sided feud between Scottie Pippen and Michael. Pippen hasn’t minced words about his displeasure over The Last Dance and as a result, has taken a myriad of shots at his old on-court partner. Most recently, Pippen even referred to Michael as a “horrible” basketball player. It’s hard to say whether the bad blood from Pippen plays into the older Jordan’s stance on his son’s love life. But since he hasn’t fed into the feud up to this point, that may not be the case. 

What we might have is simply an example of an overprotective father who was just saying how he feels. Michael Jordan is also very cheeky, so there’s also the possibility that he was just humorously giving an obvious answer that he knew would get traction. That’s just personal speculation on my part, of course. Yet if he is truly against Marcus dating Larsa Pippen, then the next Jordan family function is going to be very interesting.

During Jerry West’s appearance on Podcast P with Paul George, he recalled reuniting with Jordan and many others in Cleveland for the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Celebration in 2022. West spoke highly of Jordan as a person, and that’s what led him to discuss the comments made by Scottie Pippen:

As alluded to Jerry West isn’t the only person who’s shared chimed in on the recent sentiments shared by Scottie Pippen. Former Chicago Bull Scott Williams reacted to the “horrible” comments with some diplomatic thoughts. Like West, Williams is confused by the jabs as well and was particularly disappointed, as he’d hoped to reunite with his former teammates sometime soon. Even before Pippen’s latest round of critiques, he was already chastised by Charles Barkley, who accused him of creating this situation to promote his memoir a while back. Even Pippen and Michael Jordan’s former teammate, Charles Oakley clapped back after the former claimed he was as great as Jordan. 

Scottie Pippen apparently hasn’t spoken to Michael Jordan since this whole situation began. Paul George suggested to Jerry West that this whole thing might be solved with a phone call between the two. But the wise West opined that one of them may not accept said call. That’s a fair point, though one can still hold out hope that a reconciliation of sorts is still in the cards.

The public has seen some surprising pairings over the years, but I’d argue that one of the most unexpected couples went public this year. Marcus Jordan, the son of NBA legend Michael Jordan, is reportedly dating Scottie Pippen’s ex-wife, reality TV star Larsa Pippen. For some time, Marcus and Larsa declined to comment on the nature of their relationship, but they’re now being very candid about it. On that token, the younger Jordan opened up about telling his father and recalled when he himself finally became comfortable with this new era in his love life.

In fact, they recently took part in a family vacation to the Turks and Caicos Islands. So with that bond in mind, it probably isn’t too surprising that the legendary Chicago Bull respected his son’s decision. And as the young man went on to explain, it wasn’t until he knew his family was cool with the romance that he could get past the “shock value” of the pairing on his part:

A parent’s approval can mean a lot to someone, and that definitely seems to have been the case with Marcus Jordan. During the interview, the 48-year-old Larsa Pippen was also asked if she’d spoken with Michael or her ex-husband Scottie Pippen. The Real Housewives of Miami veteran confirmed that she has not, as she believes this moment should be about her and Marcus. Plus, she doesn’t see the need to consult a former partner about a new relationship. 

Based on what we know, this pairing was built on friendship as Larsa Pippen previously explained. She even previously recalled the moment she realized her feelings for her boyfriend. Apparently, she had the epiphany after getting somewhat jealous when he was talking to another woman.

It should also be pointed out that this relationship emerged in the midst of Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen’s one-sided feud. That squabble is what seemingly prompted a fan to yell at Marcus and Larsa while they were on a date months ago. This latest interview definitely gives the impression that they’re not worried about the naysayers, though. If anything, they’re just pleased to have the support of Michael and others within their orbit.

And Pippen made headlines again in May when he called Jordan a “horrible” player. The sentiments have spurred a number of responses, including one from fellow Bulls alum Scott Williams.

Scottie Pippen made the viral remarks about Air Jordan when he was asked about who he views as the true GOATS of basketball. He believes LeBron James will become “the greatest statistical guy to ever play the game.”  When discussing his old on-court partner in Chicago, Pippen said that his style of play made him a “horrible” athlete to play with. In his estimation, Michael Jordan was “was all one on one” and prone to “shooting bad shots.” It should be said that the hall of famer did name Jordan as part of his Mount Rushmore of greats, though he seemed to stand firmly by his critiques as well. 

Scott Williams played alongside both of the NBA greats for three of his four seasons with the Bulls. The color commentator recently appeared on Roc & Manuch with Jimmy B, where he was inevitably asked about his old colleague’s thoughts. Williams remained diplomatic while also admitting that like so many others, he was also surprised by the sentiments: 

He hasn’t always stayed in his lane, though. After Scottie Pippen called out Michael Jordan in 2021, Scott Williams took a seemingly lighthearted shot at him. He mused that Jordan was the better teammate given that he tends to do a better job of staying in contact. Nevertheless, Williams doesn’t really seem to hold any kind of negative feelings towards Pippen. He does find this situation disappointing, however, as he was hoping that he and his old buddies, with whom he won three consecutive championships with, could link up soon: 

The former McDonald’s All-American’s take on the situation is definitely tame compared to those shared by others. Charles Barkley called out Scottie Pippen for his comments, accusing him of “big-game hunting” to sell his memoir at the time. Former NBA coach Stan Van Gundy referred to Pippen as “bitter” after he took another shot at Michael Jordan in 2022. So it pretty much goes without saying that there’s been a lot of drama here. At this point, it doesn’t look like there’s a mea culpa on the horizon but, like Scott Williams, I hold out hope that one can happen between Pippen and Jordan.

The two legendary Chicago Bulls have been engaged in a (one-sided) feud since the release of ESPN docuseries The Last Dance. Pippen didn’t mince words when revealing his displeasure with how the Emmy-winning show turned out, and he apparently hasn’t spoken to Jordan since it aired. The former small forward has chastised his former teammate off and on since 2021, though he’d been relatively quiet in recent months. That’s all changed, though, as he just claimed that Jordan is a “horrible” player. And I'm a bit confused by these comments. 

The hall of famer participated in a lengthy interview with the Gimme The Hot Sauce podcast, which is hosted by former Chicago Bull Stacey King. During the discussion, King and his co-hosts began chatting about some of the greatest players to ever grace a basketball court. So they naturally asked Scottie Pippen who he believes is the true GOAT of the sport. He ultimately listed LeBron James as the best player from a statistical perspective. With that, Pippen threw shade at His Airness:

That's an incredibly blunt assessment and, to no one’s surprise, it’s already stirring up debate across social media. Now, let’s be clear about something. Scottie Pippen is absolutely entitled to his opinion and is definitely someone who understands b-ball. (He has been dubbed one of the NBA’s 75 greatest players of all time, after all.) The former athlete also makes a good point that basketball is a team sport and that in most cases, it’s virtually impossible for a team to sustain success with only one talented player. However, I still just can’t help but scratch my head when mulling over these sentiments due to what we know about MJ and some of the things that Pippen has said in the past. 

First off, few people probably wouldn’t deny that Michael Jordan is a great player, as his stats speak for themselves. Sure, during his earlier years with the Bulls, they didn’t find much success in the postseason and didn’t start getting deeper into the playoffs until other key players were drafted or signed. However, even when that team unit was established, Jordan continued to set the tone, with his on-court partner helping to do so as well.

What also confuses me is that despite his critiques and previous claim that MJ “ruined” basketball, Scottie Pippen has praised his skills amid the feud. The seven-time all star admitted that he would indeed play with Air Jordan, and “only” him, if given the opportunity. Even later in this most recent chat, Pippen said that he would place Jordan in his Mount Rushmore of NBA greats. In all fairness, someone’s opinion can always change, but the contradictions here are somewhat staggering. 

A number of notable people haven’t been all that high on the former player’s commentary over the past year or so. Charles Barkley clapped back at him, claiming that the Bull was just “big-game hunting” in order to sell his memoir at the time. And when NBA coach Stan Van Gundy also weighed in, he said that he was “sad to see a great player so bitter.”

There may be some fans out there who share that last sentiment on Scottie Pippen. Personally, I prefer to stay diplomatic and respect the man for being honest while sharing his thoughts. I’ll also say this, though. Now that he’s made these comments, I think the chances of him reconciling with Michael Jordan are now slimmer than they’ve ever been.

Marcus Jordan is the second oldest son of His Airness and a former high school and college basketball player. (Like his siblings, he was also interviewed for The Last Dance.) It’s honestly not often that one of the Jordan siblings is in the news, especially not for something like this. And regardless of whether Jordan actually was on a date with the reality TV vet, the timing of the outing is pretty wild. 

Since last year, Scottie Pippen has made a number of comments about Michael Jordan. At one point, Pippen called himself a better teammate and, on another occasion, he asserted that Jordan “ruined” the game of basketball. Interestingly though, months ago, Pippen stated that he would still play with Jordan again if such a situation ever arose.

Scottie Pippen’s remarks earned the attention of quite a few major names in the basketball world. Charles Barkley clapped back at Pippen, claiming that he was merely “big-game hunting” in order to sell his memoir. Charles Oakley, a former teammate, also spoke out after Pippen claimed he was as “great” as Air Jordan. 

So with all of that in mind, a supposed romance between Marcus Jordan and Larsa Pippen would be messy, to say the least. Still, every person connected to this situation is an adult and could handle this in a mature and rational way. We’ll just have to wait and see if we get more clarity on the matter.

For those who don’t know, Kevin Durant formally requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets at the end of June. Said petition comes after he and his team were swept by the Boston Celtics in the first round of this year’s NBA playoffs. Much has been said about Durant’s recent move, with some criticizing the star for his desire to leave. This, of course, adds to an ongoing discussion regarding how much flexibility players have when it comes to moving around. 

Scottie Pippen doesn’t seem to have an issue with the two-time NBA champion’s decision, though. The hall of famer chatted about the situation during an appearance on Sirius XM’s NBA Radio and seemed to appreciate that the fact that the soon-to-be-ex-Net and other players have such freedom in this current basketball landscape:

Considering the position that Scottie Pippen found himself in while he played for the Chicago Bulls, one can see why he’d be so open to the move. Pippen signed a seven-year deal worth $18 million in 1991 but, had the star worked things a different way, he could’ve made much more. He ultimately opted to take the deal because it meant financial security for his family, though that financial figure became a source of contention as his star rose over those seven years. All of this, along with Pippen’s strained relationship with former Bulls general manager Jerry Krause, was chronicled in ESPN’s docuseries (which is streamable with a Netflix subscription). 

It’s somewhat refreshing to hear the legendary player share some positive thoughts after the stream of brutal comments he shared about Michael Jordan. Those sentiments even drew clapbacks from fellow legends like Charles Barkley. Even fellow Bull Dennis Rodman entered the chat, though he remained mostly diplomatic on the feud. 

With the friction between Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan apparently at an end (for now), basketball fans’ eyes are on Kevin Durant. There’s been plenty of speculation regarding where he might land, and it feels nearly impossible to nail down a single team. So with all of that in mind, it’s natural to wonder whether the hall of famer would ever team up with his former partner in crime again. Los Angeles’ KTLA 5 posed that very question to him during an interview – and his brief answer might surprise you:

It sounds like Scottie Pippen would be open to another collaboration, if such an opportunity were to present itself. While this may come as a shock to some, the sentiments are totally understandable. Pippen, like many others, cannot dismiss the notion that His Airness is (or was at one time) a force to be reckoned with on the court. And that kind of sheer talent can trump any kind of bad blood between colleagues. 

Michael Jordan himself hasn’t publicly commented on any of his old teammate’s recent comments, though. Plenty of other players, however, have thrown in their two cents on the matter. Charles Barkley was quick to clap back, saying that the former Chicago Bull was merely “big-game hunting” in order to sell his book. Barkley’s Inside the NBA co-host, Kenny Smith, also chimed in and, while he remained civil, he did admit that he didn’t see any issues with The Last Dance. Additionally, hall of famer Grant Hill shared honest thoughts, as he expressed sadness over the apparent rift between the duo he relished watching and playing against.

Former Bull Charles Oakley has been particularly vocal about the one-sided beef. When Scottie Pippen stated that he was as “great” as Michael Jordan, Oakley suggested that their stats don’t reflect that idea. On a separate occasion, the former power forward voiced his belief that what’s currently going on between the two stems from something that happened during their playing days. 

Those days are definitely over now but, amid the feud, some fans may be happy to hear that Scottie Pippen would still play with MJ. It’s a small compliment, sure, but a compliment nonetheless. And who knows, maybe it could be the spark that finally gets the two beloved athletes back on the same page. We can only hope.

Given how close Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen seemed to be during their playing days, one can honestly understand why Stan Van Gundy, Grant Hill and more would be discouraged by this recent situation. Jordan and Pippen seemingly haven’t spoken since The Last Dance released in 2020, and the chances of their friendship surviving this ordeal seem grim to some. We’ll just have to wait and see if the two can find some common ground.

The docuseries, which centers on the final championship run of the Michael Jordan-led Chicago Bulls, became appointment viewing during the early days of the COVID lockdown. Though it’s been a few years since its debut, the public is still seeing the fallout of the Emmy-winning show in the form of backlash from Scottie Pippen and more. Now, it would seem that we have a better idea of Michael Jordan’s feelings on the matter. 

Over the past several months, Scottie Pippen has been engaged in a (one-sided) feud with his former teammate, one that’s heavily due to The Last Dance. Via his memoir, Pippen opened up about watching the 10-part series, saying that he was “upset” by it and believed that it merely “glorified” the Jordan Brand founder. Pippen apparently told this to his former colleague and hasn't spoken to him since. Another player who was previously vocal about his displeasure was Horace Grant, who Michael Jordan accused of leaking locker room secrets back in the ‘90s. Grant clapped back, claiming that the hall of famer lied in the “so-called documentary.” 

His Airness hasn’t spoken publicly about the responses from his fellow Bulls alums. However, an interview that he did with veteran sports journalist Jackie MacMullan for her Icons Club podcast series may illuminate things. Though the chat didn’t focus squarely on the polarizing ESPN production, MacMullan explained on the Hoop Collective podcast that the former athlete seemed taken aback by the controversy:

If this is indeed the truth, then it’s a bit shocking. Those who are aware of Michael Jordan’s work both on and off the court know that he’s rarely rattled. Still, he is human and like any one of us, is capable of being shaken up or at the very least caught by surprise on something. 

The response to the series wasn’t all negative when it comes to former Bulls players, though. Steve Kerr admitted to not being 100% pleased with the way Scottie Pippen was portrayed but did enjoy the show overall. Kerr, now the coach of the Golden State Warriors, also humorously said he found it slightly “embarrassing” that he was featured so heavily. Charles Oakley was a bit mixed on the matter, calling the docuseries “a little accurate” and “a little pledging.”

Michael Jordan typically keeps things close to the vest, so there’s a firm chance he won’t actually say too much about the backlash the project has received. Nevertheless, I’m sure plenty of fans are hoping he’ll speak out on the reactions (especially Scottie Pippen’s brutally honest thoughts).

Jerry Reinsdorf recently appeared as a guest on NBC Sports Chicago’s Bulls Pregame Live, where he shed some light on the matter. The 86-year-old exec set the record straight, stating that Air Jordan didn’t actually have such a dramatic response to the potential trade:

He later reiterated that he “never heard from Michael Jordan about it” and believes that if Jordan had said something, Jerry Krause would’ve mentioned it. Some may actually be surprised to hear that MJ didn’t feel strongly about the move. To this day, he still questions why the team owner, alongside Krause, decided to rebuild after the Bulls’ final championship season in 1998. While that particular topic has been (and will continue to be) debated, we needn’t worry about the details regarding this Tracy McGrady trade. Because the Bulls head laid that all out during his interview: 

The exec went on to explain that he “thought long and hard” about the deal before he eventually declined. And good thing too, because there’s a chance he may not have earned that sixth championship ring had things gone through. That season, however, may have featured a bit less drama without Scottie Pippen, though. The hall of famer would controversially opt to delay off-season surgery to avoid rehab over the summer. As a result, his was unavailable for much of the ‘97-’98 season. This was a polarizing aspect of The Last Dance, as some former players like Steve Kerr (who found the doc “embarrassing” for himself) took issue with the way Pippen was portrayed.

Nevertheless, the former player was mostly loved by his basketball comrades, with Toni Kukoč even naming him his favorite teammate. One can only hope such love will exist between Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan, leading them to start speaking again. Former teammate Charles Oakley thinks what’s going on between them was initiated by something that happened during their playing days. So as was the case with this recent rumor, maybe we’ll get some additional details that’ll give us a better understanding of the situation.

The Chicago Bulls And Detroit Pistons Were Fierce Rivals In The ‘80s And ‘90s

Chicago native Isiah Thomas was drafted by the Detroit Pistons in 1981 and would go on to lead the team known infamously as “The Bad Boys.” The group, which consisted of players like Joe Dumars, Bill Laimbeer and Dennis Rodman (before his Bulls stint) were known for their intense and physical style of play. Unfortunately for Michael Jordan’s Chicago team, they were on the receiving end of a number of the team’s hits. This led both groups to come to blows on a few occasions. These exchanges were covered on ESPN’s The Last Dance, and the scenes were so visceral for some that they took to social media and mistakenly threatened current player Isaiah Thomas. 

The Pistons served as a key obstacle amid the Bulls’ attempts to reach the NBA Finals, and the team would ultimately win back-to-back championships in 1989 and 1990. But Chicago would get over the hump in ‘91, sweeping Detroit in the Eastern Conference Finals. In the last seconds of the game, Isiah Thomas and many of his teammates controversially left the floor with 7.9 seconds left. And they neglected to shake hands with their opponents before leaving the building.

The 1992 Summer Olympic Games marked the first time NBA players would be allowed to compete, and a “Dream Team” of the league’s best players was assembled. While the likes of Patrick Ewing and David Robinson were among those selected, Isiah Thomas was notably left off the roster. What made things even more awkward was the fact that Thomas’ Pistons coach, Chuck Daly, was taking on those duties for the U.S. team. Many believe that the future hall of famer’s exclusion was Michael Jordan’s one condition for joining the team. This has never been explicitly confirmed, though Magic Johnson once alleged in his book, When the Game Was Ours, that he, Jordan and others worked to keep Thomas out.

Today, things seem to have cooled somewhat, as both players have spoken highly of each other on certain occasions. The Space Jam star even thanked his former rival in his hall of fame speech. While Pippen did not formally provide a reason for missing the festivities, rumors allege that he did not want to face Jordan. 

Admittedly, the former player’s blunt comments did come as a surprise, seeing as he and Air Jordan seemed to have a firm relationship. The aspect of that bond that Dominique Wilkins continued to discuss during his recent interview was their harmony on the court. He can’t seem to understand how the Unguarded author could be displeased with the situation he was once in:

In terms of Scottie Pippen’s feelings towards the Emmy-winning series, Oakley believes his former teammate felt “mistreated” and thought the show didn’t make him “look good.” However, something that Oakley has said before that he reiterated during his appearance on All The Smoke is that he doesn’t think the ESPN production is to blame for the friction. He assumes it stemmed from something that happened off the court years ago.

Other players have also weighed in on the situation involving the two former Chicago Bulls. Hall of famer Charles Barkley clapped back at his fellow Dream Teamer, claiming that he’s just “big-game hunting” in order to sell his book. Fellow NBA alums haven’t been quite as blunt but have been just as honest. Detroit Pistons legend Grant Hill expressed sadness over the feud. What may actually be the most interesting part of Charles Oakey’s new comments is the part where he claims that the relationship between the two “wasn’t great from the get-go.” Other Chicago Bulls players like Bill Wennington painted a different picture through their own comments. Even hall of famer Dennis Rodman says he “never saw” any kind of clear animosity between his fellow teammates.

At this point, it’s honestly hard to argue that the status of Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen’s relationship isn’t looking good. Some can’t help but be optimistic and hope that they’ll patch things up, though. Those who know him are surely aware that he rarely minces words and, here, he provided some honest (and mostly restrained) thoughts when asked if Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan had a rough relationship, as alleged in the former’s memoir:

Dennis Rodman seemed to have somewhat mixed feelings on the conflict between his two on-court partners, though he did go on to mention that he believes people will buy the book, Unguarded, simply to see what’s said about Michael Jordan. One thing that Rodman did make clear during the discussion (via LifeSpeaks Media) was his respect for Scottie Pippen and his impact on basketball, which he believes is very evident today:

The basketball and pop culture icon would go on to mention contemporary players like Ben Simmons and Giannis Antetokounmpo as those who have benefitted from his comrade’s legacy. He’s not the only Bulls player to shower praise on Scottie Pippen, either. Toni Kukoc called him his favorite teammate, as the two worked closely with Pippen after the Jordan Brand founder retired in favor of baseball. 

There have been some, however, who have been a bit more critical of his recent comments, though. Charles Barkley clapped back at the Arkansas native of “big-game hunting” in order to sell copies of his book. Former Chicago Bull Scott Williams called Michael Jordan the better teammate while claiming that Jordan is more likely to keep in touch with friends. Charles Oakley was a bit more diplomatic and praised both of his former basketball brothers, though he believes the feud goes beyond the ESPN docuseries. He seems to think it’s the result of a specific incident that occurred during their days as players. 

Scottie Pippen has reportedly not spoken to Michael Jordan since The Last Dance aired, and there’s been no indication as to whether they’ll bury the hatchet. Given his recent sentiments, maybe Dennis Rodman could play peacemaker. I mean, stranger things have happened, right?

Scottie Pippen sparked a plethora of conversations within the basketball community when he shared blunt thoughts on his former Chicago Bulls teammate, Michael Jordan. In his recently released memoir, Pippen asserted that Jordan “ruined” basketball and went on to say that he used ESPN’s The Last Dance to “glorify” himself. Since he shared these thoughts and more, other Bulls players have shared their own opinions on the matter. Now, yet another teammate is speaking out, and his comments paint a picture that’s quite different from Pippen’s. 

Scottie Pippen really didn’t hold back with his thoughts in the book, Unguarded and, as a result, many seem to be finding the book to be quite the page-turner. Former Chicago Bulls center Bill Wennington is actually among those who’s currently in the middle of reading it. The NBA champion revealed this during a recent appearance on a radio show (via YouTube’s Gray Area). While speaking with the outlet, he also explained that he was taken aback by his old colleague’s sentiments and that he doesn’t exactly see what PIppen was seeing back then: 

Through old footage, The Last Dance showed off more than a few interactions between Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and their teammates. Jordan was shown to be strict when it came to team practices, a fact that some both within and outside the team took issue with at the time. However, they were also shown to be a relatively close unit during their downtime. However, while evoking Jordan’s baseball career, Pippen insulated that he and his on-court partner weren’t as close as the Emmy-winning show would have the public believe. 

Ahead of Bill Wennington, former Bull Scott Williams spoke on the recent comments and referred to Michael Jordan as the better teammate. Williams cited Jordan’s tendency to text back and keep in general contact with his colleagues as a plus. Charles Oakley, who has his own thoughts on The Last Dance, respected Scottie Pippen’s right to his feelings. However, he also voiced his belief that there’s a deeper reason why his old teammate is now speaking out in this manner. Oakley seems to think that it all stems from a possible dispute that occurred while Jordan and Pippen were still players.

Other basketball alums like Kenny Smith have also chimed in on the matter. Smith was also respectful when referring to the former small forward’s comments but did state that he found the docuseries to be accurate. Fellow Inside the NBA analyst Charles Barkley was a bit more blunt, as he accused the former Bull of “big-game hunting” in order to sell his book. He later added more thoughts, saying that the comments were “really not cool at all.” Fellow hall of famer Grant Hill, a fan of both Chicago players, was also disappointed to see the situation play out.

As of this writing, Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan still have not spoken since the show aired back in the spring of 2020. Whether or not the two patch things up remains to be seen, but you can bet that fans and players alike will continue to chime in as time goes on.
