If somebody says, “Macaulay Culkin,” I guarantee that 9 out of 10 people will likely think of Home Alone, which I suppose makes sense since it’s such a beloved classic, and Macaulay Culkin is the face of it.

For a lot of people, Christmas isn't Christmas without Home Alone, so for many, Macaulay Culkin represents the holiday itself. However, what if I were to tell you that one of his best NON-Home Alone movies wasn't just My Girl or The Good Son, but also a 2003 crime drama called Party Monster about the ‘90s New York City club scene?

If you’ve watched it, cool. But if you haven’t, let's talk. Oontz oontz oontz!

Firstly, Party Monster Was Essentially Macaulay Culkin's Return To Acting

Take a look at Macaulay Culkin's filmography, and you'll see that he had an extremely busy 90's (he's even in one of my favorite horror movies, Jacob's Ladder!). However, you’ll also notice that his career came to a screeching halt after 1994’s Richie Rich. In fact, when looking at his best movies, you'll likely surmise that most of his best films are from when he was a child.

In pursuit of actually living a “normal” life, he decided to leave acting for an extended hiatus, and when he returned, it was with a way different image in the movie, Party Monster, which is based on James St. James’ memoir, Disco Bloodbath.

In the film, Culkin plays the real-life club promoter, Michael Alig, a.k.a the “King of the Club Kids,” while Seth Green plays his friend, James St. James, who really introduces Alig to the club scene in the first place. Culkin’s role is surprising in this film, though, because he plays a drug addict who later becomes a criminal, which is a far cry from playing Richie Rich, I'll tell you that much.

If You Have Any Sort Of Desire To Learn More About The New York Club Culture, This Is Your Movie

Another reason why I think more people should talk about this film - besides Macaulay Culkin, of course - is to learn more about the club scene back in the ‘80s and ‘90s. Now, growing up in the ‘90s, I clearly remember three things about people who went clubbing on a regular basis - one, they always had glowsticks on hand, two, they were perfectly okay with hooking up with sweaty strangers, and three, they were usually fond of drugs…typically ecstasy.

And, this movie definitely covers two out of the three quite well, as there’s lots of sex, and lots of drugs. But, what I also like about the film is how it covers the LGBTQ+ aspects of the New York club scene. Marilyn Manson is in the movie, vamping it up, and Macaulay Culkin plays an openly gay character in Michael Alig, and it’s all just wonderful to see.

Not so wonderful is the drug use. In fact, all of the problems Michael Alig experiences (including his ultimate crime) are due to drugs, and the problems that come along with them. That’s why this film really resonates with me, since I knew kids who were deeply into drugs and partying, and sometimes took me along for the ride (I peaced out, though, when they started popping pills). This movie showcases all of that really well.

It's An Early 2000s Gem, And One You Should Check Out To Take You Back To The '80s and ‘90s

Though I wouldn’t consider Party Monster to be one of the best movies of the 2000s, I would say that it’s one of the best representations of a certain part of the ‘90s.

Party Monster is loud, colorful, in your face, and violent, but it also has a sort of strange detachment to it all. A lot of this is due to Caulkin’s performance, but it also has to do with the filmmaking itself, which puts us at the heart of the club scene, but also feels like it’s keeping us away somehow.

It’s a film that, if you lived in that era, you’ll recognize the whole vibe and energy. And, if you happen to miss that bygone time, might I suggest this early 2000s gem?

I’m not going to sit and say that Without a Paddle, the Seth Green movie from 2004 that co-stars Dax Shepard, Matthew Lillard, and others, is up there with The Godfather or Citizen Kane or anything. However, I do think it’s a funny movie that doesn’t deserve the 15% that it currently holds on Rotten Tomatoes. It helps that the plot involves one of the great mysteries of the 20th Century, one that I’m completely fascinated with, and it features a really fun, slightly more than a cameo role for the late, great Burt Reynolds. Let’s go on this choppy ride…

The Plot Is Built Around The D.B. Cooper Hijacking

Dan Cooper (which almost certainly wasn’t his real name) was a plane hijacker who took control of a flight from Portland, OR to Seattle, WA on November 24th, 1971 by claiming to have a bomb. He demanded $200,000 ($1.6 million or so in 2025 dollars), and four parachutes. After landing in Seattle, authorities gave Cooper, who has become known as D.B. Cooper in the years since, what he wanted, and the plane took off again, after he released the other passengers and the plane refueled.

Cooper demanded the pilots fly to Mexico City, but before long, he opened the rear door of the plane and presumably jumped out, wearing one of the parachutes. He vanished into the night sky somewhere over Oregon and has never been heard from again, and very little of the money has ever been recovered. It’s a mystery that has intrigued many people over the years, including myself. Weirdly, there have not been many fictionalized versions of this incredible story ever put on film. Without a Paddle is one rare exception.

In the movie, three friends, played by Green, Shepard, and Lillard, set out to find out the truth about Cooper and hopefully recover the money. From there, it basically becomes a parody of Deliverance, and that’s what makes Burt Reynolds' appearance in the movie, as Cooper’s “partner,” even better. I love the late Burt Reynolds, especially his work in the ‘70s, so even if this movie isn’t the funniest movie I’ve ever seen, I’ll always love it for that.

My Weird History With The Movie Also Helps

So, here’s my personal backstory with Without a Paddle, and it may help explain why I personally think it’s better than it gets credit for. The first time I saw it was on cable. I’d never even heard of it, but I was flipping channels (like we used to do) and happened upon it. It was probably 15 or 20 minutes into the movie when I found it. I had no idea why these guys were canoeing down a river, and at some point, I picked up on the fact that they were looking for D.B. Cooper’s missing treasure.

It was about the time Reynolds showed up, so I got excited that he could be Cooper. I got this all from vibes, not from the script, so I felt like I was getting an inside joke. It turns out, of course, that this was the plot established all along, but I didn’t know that. It made me love the movie right away. I’ve never wavered, even after watching the full movie a couple of times since. The jokes are corny, and the movie certainly isn’t Caddyshack, or Animal House, or any of the other comedies I consider the GOATs, but it’s fun, and it never slows down. For that, it deserves at least a 25% on Rotten Tomatoes, and I’ll die on that hill. Or in that river, whatever. For almost 20 years (but just 8 seasons and some movies), Reno 911! has been cracking us up. The creators and core cast members, Thomas Lennon, Kerri Kenny-Silver, and Robert Ben Garant, all started on MTV's The State (along with late-season cast member Joe Lo Truglio), clearly used all their connections to bring in both up-and-coming comedians at the time (like Zach Galifianakis) and established superstars (like Kenny Rogers and Paul Reubens). Here is a list of actors who you may have forgotten played roles in the classic comedy.

Zach Galifianakis

Before he became a household name in The Hangover series, for which he delivered many of the funniest lines in the movie, Zach Galifianakis was a semi-regular contributor to Reno 911!. He played the role of Frisbee, a survivalist with a boatload of kids who lived out by the airport (and thought aliens were invading) in multiple episodes of the show in the early years.

Patton Oswalt

Comedian Patton Oswalt's career started with a slew of funny but small-ish parts in movies like Magnolia, Down Periscope, and Dodgeball. He first appeared on Reno 911! in the show's second season and went on to multiple appearances, playing multiple characters, including appearances in the two movies, Reno 911!: Miami and Reno 911! The Hunt for QAnon.

Paul Reubens

Paul Reubens really needs no introduction. As Pee-wee Herman, he became a Gen X (and all the generations after) icon. Reubens, who died in 2023, played the amazing character Rick, who headed up his own "citizens' patrol" which cracked up audiences, and annoyed the members of the Reno Sheriff's Department.

Paul Scheer

Paul Scheer has made it a habit to star in some of the funniest shows of the last 20 years. Shows like The League, Veep, and Black Monday have made Scheer a household name. HE also played multiple roles in Season 6 of Reno 911!

Natasha Leggero

Natasha Leggero's first role came in one of too-oft forgotten fake reality show Joe Schmo 2 in 2004, the follow-up to the original The Joe Schmo Show. From there, she appeared in the reality show MTV's The 70s House. Leggero parlayed that into three appearances on Reno 911! playing different characters, mostly getting arrested.

Ryan Stiles

Ryan Stiles is certainly most well-known for delivering some of the funniest lines on Whose Line Is It Anyway?, where he's been a cast member going back to the 1990s. He also popped up on Reno 911! as a police officer charged with training the idiots in the sheriff's department on how to go undercover in Season 5.

Jamie Lee Curtis

One of the most surprising cameos in the show's history came in one of the later seasons when none other than Jamie Lee Curtis appeared as Lt. Donna Fitzgibbons, a one-eyed, no-nonsense from Sparks Sheriff's department who Dangle brings in to prank the other members of the squad. She also shares Dangle's sense of fashion.

Keegan-Michael Key

One of the funniest recurring morons the Reno Sheriff's Department has to deal with is the "hypothetical criminal" played by the great Keegan-Michael Key. He appeared a bunch of times over the years as a character who comes with hypothetical crimes he definitely didn't commit. Somehow, he seems to keep getting away with the crimes.

Paul Rudd

The ageless Paul Rudd appeared in five episodes of the show in the final seasons of the original run. He played Guy Gerricault, a very unnerving Lamaze coach for Trudy while she's pregnant. He also appeared in the first movie, Reno 991: Miami as a completely different character.

Rachael Harris

After bouncing around Hollywood for about a decade, working regularly but never really starring in anything, Rachael Harris appeared in Reno 911! as Dangle's ex-wife. She's best known these days for her role as Linda in Lucifer.

Christina Applegate

Christina Applegate has an almost "blink and you'll miss it" cameo as the legendary Terry's wife. It's hard to believe Terry (Nick Swardson) would be married to anyone, especially someone who looks like Christina Applegate.

Dwayne Johnson

There isn't a bigger star on the planet than Dwayne Johnson. The Rock, as he was known in wrestling, seems to have endless energy, with movies starring him being constantly released. One such movie is the first one from this franchise, Reno 911!: Miami, where he plays a cartoonish SWAT team leader. It's a role that suits him perfectly, of course.

Ron White

Stand-up comic Ron White is one of the funniest comedians around and his character on Reno 911!, as a drunk pilot, is exactly the kind of role White was born to play. He's simply hilarious.

Charlie Day and Mary Elizabeth Ellis

Before they played Charlie and "The Waitress" in Always Sunny In Philadelphia, real-life couple Charlie Day and Mary Elizabeth Ellis played twins in a... disturbing...relationship in Reno 911!'s second season. The chemistry they are known for now was on full display in their one hilarious appearance.

Murray SawChuck

Fans of Pawn Stars will recognize Murray SawChuck (or Murray the Magician) as one of the experts Rick brings in when he needs to evaluate the value of a magic prop. He's also well-known for his stage show in Las Vegas. In his appearance on Reno 911!, SawChuck plays a magician who gets pulled over, and then pulls out a bunch of tricks, of course.

Nick Swardson

Without a doubt, the most popular recurring "criminal" on the show is Terry, played by the hilarious Nick Swardson. It's fair to say you probably haven't forgotten his unforgettable appearance across pretty much every season and movie from the franchise, but we had to include him on this list, of course.

Danny DeVito

Did you know that one of the "producers" of Reno 911! is the iconic Danny DeVito? On the show, he has appeared as himself, who is a producer of the fake show that the real show is mockumenting. How meta!

Jim Rash

Jim Rash is best known for playing the hapless Dean in the NBC sitcom Community. He's also an accomplished writer, earning an Oscar nomination for writing The Descendants, starring George Clooney and Shailene Woodley. He was one of the more "regular" recurring characters, Andrew, in the early seasons of the show, who was arrested, usually in a compromising position, a number of times. He appeared 15 times in total as the wacky character.

Michael Ian Black

Though he was never a full-time cast member of Reno 911!, Michael Ian Black, as a member of The State, is a good friend and regular cohort of many of the cast of Reno 911!. Black appeared in multiple episodes, playing multiple characters on the show, and in the movie, Reno 911!: Miami.

Ian Roberts

Ian Roberts was never part of The State, but he did cut his teeth in another legendary improv group, Upright Citizens Brigade, which he helped found with Amy Poehler, Adam McKay, and Matt Walsh. Heady stuff. He joined the regular cast of Reno 911! in the show's first final season in 2009.

Oscar Nunez

We all know Oscar Nunez from The Office and its sister show, The Paper, where his character, also named Oscar, is the lone crossover character between the shows. Before The Office, Nunez appeared in a couple of episodes in the first season as Captain Dwayne Hernandez. He appeared in a later season as "Spanish Mike" as well. He even popped up in the movie Reno 911!: Miami, as "Jose Jose Jose."

Diedrich Bader

At the same time that Reno 911! was a hit on Comedy Central in the mid-2000s, Dog the Bounty Hunter was a phenomenon on A&E. Naturally, the mockumentary about a police department had to mock the bounty hunter. Enter Diedrich Bader, famous for his roles in Office Space and The Drew Carey Show. Bader played "Tommy Hawk," modeled after the Dog (Dwyane Chapman), right down to the blonde mullet.

George Lopez

Every police department in every city has to deal with the mayor sometimes. When that mayor is a drunk, like George Lopez's character in Reno 911!, he can be maddening for the cops, but hilarious for audiences.

"Weird Al" Yankovic

"Weird Al" Yankovic has the honor that no one else on Reno 911! ever had. The legendary musician and actor got to play a person from real life. Appropriately, it was another musician, Ted Nugent. Of course, it's a completely over-the-top satirized version of the Motor City Madman, but Weird Al's look is dead on.

Seth Green

Sometimes it seems like Seth Green is literally everywhere. This was especially true in the 2000s. Whether it was shows like Robot Chicken, which he also co-created, or Entourage, or, of course, Family Guy, or movies like the Austin Powers franchise and The Italian Job, Green was great. He was also hilarious in his Reno 911! cameo as the ridiculously mean boss of two sheriffs who were undercover as fast food employees.

Rainn Wilson

If we're honest here, Rainn Wilson's appearance in Reno 911! as a murderer taking the sheriffs on a wild goose chase feels like it could almost be his character from The Office, Dwight's brother, or cousin. It's honestly one of the funniest episodes of the whole series.

Debra Wilson

Debra Wilson is probably best known as the longest-serving cast member of MadTV, which included the first 8 seasons of the classic variety show. In addition to a ton of voice work in movies and TV, she's also known for playing Oprah Winfrey in the Scary Movie franchise, and for playing Dominatrix on three episodes of Reno 911! in 2008.

Brian Posehn

Yet another stand-up who played a great recurring character on the show is Brian Posehn. Posehn played Stevie the Coroner in a few episodes in the show's original run on Comedy Central. It's a perfect character for the comic, famous for his deadpan delivery. Who doesn't want a seriously funny, but deadly serious, coroner on a show like this?

Nick Krull

Another actor who plays the absolutely perfect role for his talents is Nick Krull. Krull plays an offensive shock jock who makes his name by saying the most ridiculous things. His take on Cinco de Mayo is as funny as it is offensive.

Scott Thompson

Like others on this list, Scott Thompson is a veteran of a legendary sketch comedy troupe, The Kids In The Hall. He popped up in the show's sixth season in two episodes.

Masi Oka

Masi Oka is most famous for playing the biggest hero on Heroes, Hiro Nakamura. That role earned him an Emmy nomination. He also played a more serious role as the medical examiner, Dr. Max Bergman, in the reboot of the '60s show Hawaii Five-0. Oka got to show off his comedic chops in a couple of episodes of Reno 911! as a Japanese translator.

Jeff Foxworthy

Even some of the biggest Reno 911! fans may have missed this very brief cameo. The legendary Jeff Foxworthy. Not only was it brief, but audiences never actually saw Foxworthy in the one episode in which he appeared in the third season of the show. The "redneck" comedian played Fast Eddie McClintock, the "fastest criminal in Reno, and we only very briefly hear his voice over his CB radio as he speeds away from the sheriffs in his black Trans Am.

Voice acting is its own special skill that not all actors can pull off. Sometimes great live-action stars make the crossover, and some of them are listed here. Other times, actors who are primarily voice actors appear in live action roles, and you might not know what they look like, even when you know their voice (or, more often, voices). Those actors are also represented on this list of popular voice actors who you probably have seen before, even if you didn't know it.

Yeardley Smith

Yeardley Smith is, of course, best known as the voice of Lisa Simpson, who, for me, is the most underrated character in The Simpsons. Like many of her castmates on the legendary cartoon, she started from the beginning of The Tracey Ullman Show. You may also know her as the pregnant cashier who crashes the party at the beginning of City Slickers, among other roles in live-action movies and TV shows.

Christine Cavanaugh

The late Christine Cavanaugh was the original voice for Chuckie in Rugrats and Dexter in Dexter's Laboratory. Though she retired very young due to health reasons, you might also know her as injured football player Steve Remo's wife Jerry Maguire.

John DiMaggio

One of the most prolific voice actors on this list, John DiMaggio, is well known for his work as Bender in Futurama, and a whole ton of movies like Zootopia, Wreck-It Ralph, Despicable Me 4, and many more. You may also have seen him as Fenwick in the AMC show Interview With A Vampire, or Dan on Mythic Quest, which you can watch with an AppleTV+ subscription.

Diedrich Bader

Diedrich Bader has made quite a career for himself as a voice-over actor, with dozens of credits. His best-known work is probably in the DC Universe, where he has been Batman/Bruce Wayne in many animated shows across the universe. He's also done work as Lex Luther, The Green Lantern, and other DC characters. On the live-action side, he's probably most famous for his role on The Drew Carey Show, but he also has memorable roles in the movies Office Space, as Peter's neighbor, and The Beverly Hillbilllies, as Jethro, among others.

Nancy Cartwright

Certainly, Nancy Cartwright is most famous as the voice of Bart Simpson, but that's hardly her only role in The Simpsons. She's also been the voice of Chuckie in Rugrats since 2002, and has done numerous other voice roles on TV and in movies. As for live action, she played a role in the "It's A Good Life" segment of 1983's Twilight Zone: The Movie, and appeared in tons of sitcoms and other shows over the years, like Cheers, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and the ill-fated spin-off Baywatch Nights. Okay, that last one isn't technically a comedy.

Breckin Meyer

On the live-action side of things, Breckin Meyer will probably always be first remembered for the role of the stoner Travis Birkenstock in Clueless. It's a truly iconic role in a legendary movie at this point. He's also been very busy over the years doing voice-over work, most notably in Robot Chicken episodes, where he is a multi-Emmy-nominated actor.

David Herman

David Herman has been a voice-over actor on some of the most beloved cartoons in recent years like Bob's Burgers, King of the Hill, and Futurama. Many years ago, he became part of movie history as Michael Bolton in Office Space.

Phil LaMarr

Phil LaMarr has been a cast member in a ton of legendary cartoons. In addition to multiple roles in the DC world, including The Green Lantern, he also played big recurring roles in The Family Guy (as Ollie Williams), The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius (Bolbi Stroganofsky), Futurama (Hermes Conrad), and many others. He was also a member of the cast of MadTV, and maybe most famously, he played the ill-fated Marvin in Pulp Fiction.

Alanna Ubach

Alanna Ubach has found a lot of balance between her voice acting on shows like The Spectacular Spider-Man, El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera, and Pound Puppies, plus movies like Rango and Coco. She's also done plenty of live-action work in shows like Beakman's World, Eli Stone, and Euphoria, where she plays Suze.

Hank Azaria

This is an actor who really needs no introduction. Hank Azaria has been in dozens of live-action roles, of course, but it still probably best known for the dozens of voices he does on The Simpsons.

Cedric Yarbrough

Cedric Yarbrough's breakout role came as Deputy Jones on Reno 911!, but you may also know his voice as Tom DuBois and Colonel H. Stinkmeaner in The Boondocks and Chocolate Giddy-up in Black Dynamite. Like others on this list, he's also done work in the DC world, as Firestorm and other characters.

Harry Shearer

Harry Shearer is a Hollywood vet whose career dates back to the 1960s. He's best known for his live-action roles in This Is Spinal Tap (and its 2025 sequel), and some of the Christopher Guest mockumentaries, like The Mighty Wind. As a voice actor, he is certainly most famous as multiple characters on The Simpsons, including Principal Skinner, Mr. Burns, and many others.

Richard Steven Horvitz

Richard Steven Horvitz's voice is most recognizable to Mighty Morphin Power Ranger fans. He's provided the voice for Alpha 5 for years over multiple properties. As for movie roles you may know, he played Alan Eakian, the dorky, nerdy character in the Mark Harmon-led classic '80s comedy Summer School.

Stephen Root

One of my favorite character actors of all time is Stephen Root. He's been in some of my favorite movies and TV shows like Newsradio, O Brother Where Art Thou, and, of course, Office Space. He's also done a bunch of voice work in projects like Finding Dory, Finding Nemo, and various roles in the DC animated universe.

Trey Parker

Trey Parker is the co-creator and star of South Park, of course. Do I really need to say more about his voice work (he does lots of voices on the show)? He's worked a fair amount in his own live-action stuff as well, most famously BASEketball.

Matt Stone

Like his partner, Trey Parker, Matt Stone is most famous for the show he co-created, South Park. Like Parker, he writes and does many voices in the show, and like Parker, he's also starred in the live-action BASEketball and other movies.

Dan Castellaneta

The voice of Homer Simpson, provided by Dan Castellaneta, is one of the most recognizable voices in television history. Castellaneta even invented the word "D'oh," which is now in the Oxford English Dictionary. He's also appeared in a lot of sitcoms, as part of the live-action cast of The Tracy Ullman Show, and tons of one-offs in Married... With Children, Friends, Arrested Development, The Office, and others. He's also been in a bunch of movies like The Client, The War Of The Roses, Say Anything..., and Space Jam, for starters.

Alex Bornstein

You certainly know her from her voice as Lois on The Family Guy, but you also know her face as Susie on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Alex Borstein started her career doing voices in the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers before becoming a part of the original cast of MadTV. Like a few others on this list, she's split time pretty equally between live-action and voice work.

John Ratzenberger

Hey Normie, did you know that John Ratzenberger is known as Pixar's good luck charm? The actor, who is most famous for playing Cliff on Cheers, has appeared in almost every Pixar film going back to Toy Story. As such, he's actually one of the most successful actors ever when you add up the box office totals of his movies.

Ed Asner

Ed Asner was pretty famous before he really leaned into doing voice work, but for a generation of people, he'll always be best known as the voice of Carl Fredricksen in Up and for his voice work on shows and movies like The Boondocks, All-Star Superman, Christmas Is Here Again, and in live-action work like playing Santa in Elf, in addition to his most famous TV role, Lou Grant on The Mary Tyler Moore Show.

Julie Kavner

There are plenty of members of the Simpsons cast on this list, including Julie Kavner, who has been the voice of Marge and her sister Patty, and Selma since the beginning. She's also had a long career on screen, including the Nora Ephron-directed This is My Life in 1992 and Awakenings, alongside Robin Williams in 1990. She's also in 2025's Ella McCay, directed by Simpson's co-creator James L. Brooks.

Bill Farmer

Bill Farmer is an actor who has spent most of his career behind the microphone doing voice work. He's been the voice of popular Disney characters like Goofy and Pluto for decades now. He's also done voices for The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius, Robot Chicken, and others. You might, if you're a fan of the still politically relevant RoboCop like I am, know him for his small role as a reporter in the Paul Verhoeven-directed '80s action flick.

David Faustino

Though he started acting as a child, David Faustino's big break came when he was cast as Bud Bundy in Married... with Children. These days, he has become one of the most in-demand voice actors, working on the Winx Club franchise, 2023's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, and shows like The Legend of Korra, Robot Chicken, and DreamWorks Dragons.

Seth MacFarlane

Seth MacFarlane has created an incredible career after breaking out as the creator, writer, and main voice actor on Family Guy, as well as its spin-offs and related shows like The Cleveland Show and American Dad. He also wrote and directed Ted, providing the voice of the bear, of course. On the live-action side, his best-known role came in The Orville as Captain Ed Mercer.

Clancy Brown

For the last three decades, Clancy Brown has been the main voice of Lex Luthor in various DC animated shows and movies. He's also dabbled in Marvel shows and done plenty of Disney projects as well. He's also a very in-demand character actor, appearing in shows like HBO's The Penguin, Showtime's Dexter: New Blood, Netflix's Daredevil, and so much more.

Mila Kunis

To be fair, Mila Kunis is more well-known for her live-action work than her voice list, as is the case with a few of the people on this list. She is, of course, the voice of Meg on The Family Guy. Yup, Carlos Alazraqui, who played Garcia on the Comedy Central show, was behind the voice who said "Yo quiero Taco Bell" back in the '90s. He's got dozens of other voice credits, but you can't deny how great that bit of trivia is.

Howard The Duck has a presence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe... but it's not exactly what one would call a consistent presence. He's principally been a background character in the Guardians of The Galaxy movies, but he does also make a bold appearance in Avengers: Endgame fighting for the forces of good against Thanos and his army (and let's also not forget the alternate universe where he is married to Darcy Lewis, as seen in What If...?). At present, we don't have any clue as to when we might see the diminutive hero again – and based on recent comments by Seth Green, it doesn't sound like it's going to be in Avengers: Doomsday.

During a recent interview with The Direct, Green was specifically asked about the possibility that he could show up in the next big team-up coming in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and he appears to be quite pessimistic about the idea. With Avengers: Doomsday already in production, he figures that he would have heard about a part for Howard The Duck by now, and he hasn't gotten a call. Said the actor,

For what it's worth, Seth Green's Howard The Duck potentially isn't the only Guardians of the Galaxy character being left out of the mix for Avengers: Doomsday. Of the dozens of stars that have been confirmed to be in the 2026 blockbuster, none of them are heroes or villains from writer/director James Gunn's cosmic side of the MCU. This even includes Chris Pratt's Peter Quill a.k.a. Star-Lord, who was promised to return at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Seth Green last voiced Howard The Duck in Season 3 of Disney+'s animated What If...? series, and according to the actor, there haven't been any discussions about him bringing the character to another live-action project. That being said, if he never gets the chance to voice Howard again, he sounds like he wouldn't hold it against the folks at Marvel Studios. Commenting on whether or not he's heard anything, Green said,

Featuring a cast that includes Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, Infinity Saga heroes (Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, and Tom Hiddleston), the roster of the New Avengers (Florence Pugh, Wyatt Russell, Lewis Pullman, David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, and Sebastian Stan), the Fantastic Four (Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach), the original X-Men stars (Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, and Kelsey Grammar), and more, Avengers: Doomsday began production earlier this year and is scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026.

While there's a lot about the MCU blockbuster that we don't currently know, it should go without saying that we expect to hear a lot about the project between now and the end of next year. Stay tuned here on CinemaBlend in the coming months as more is revealed about the super exciting production.

All good things must come to an end, and The Conners is perhaps the most noteworthy TV series set to end in 2025, considering the titular family’s extended pop culture legacy. But that doesn’t mean showrunner Bruce Helford & Co. set them up for a fairy tale conclusion, and the latest casting reveal sounds like it could spark some drama in at least one Lanford home.

Having already revealed that Young Sheldon’s Zoe Perry will join Season 7 for an arc that pairs her up with real-life mom Laurie Metcalf, The Conners has now offered up the exciting news that Robot Chicken co-creator and comedy star Seth Green will bring his talents to the broadcast sitcom in a recurring capacity. But before anybody starts wondering whether his character will nerd out with Jay R. Ferguson’s Ben over T-shirts for Star Wars and Guardians of the Galaxy (in which Green voiced Howard the Duck), let’s discuss who he’ll be playing.

The first red flag, according to Deadline’s description, comes in the form of the character’s name, as Seth Green will be playing a literal Chad when he joins The Conners. He apparently befriends Darlene while at the Lobo, which seems like it might be another indicator of messiness, unless he’s just hanging around in there for the atmosphere or something.

But here’s the kicker: Chad is in the midst of a legal separation from his wife, which presumably explains his bar presence, and he and Darlene connect over their dark and sardonic senses of humor, and start to confide in each other more and more. But it sounds like their rapidly evolving friendship could send the wrong kind of sparks flying with others who may not want Darlene to meet her sarcasm equal.

Granted, the description doesn’t call out Ben for being a jealous lump, but I can certainly see how that would be the case. It somehow seems even more likely when trying to picture Ferguson’s tall and stocky body next to the shorter and leaner Green, since Ben would likely have zero trouble putting Chad on his ass.

If fans were only getting one episode with Seth Green’s Chad, all of my blathering might be for naught, but he’ll actually be showing up for half of the final season’s installment. Which only amounts to three out of six — with all available to stream with a Hulu subscription — but that’s definitely still enough time to whittle out a meaningful character arc. So who knows? He best not try to mess with Becky and Tyler’s happy relationship, though.

As someone who has always lovingly championed drama between Darlene and Ben — I’ve held out so much hope for Ben and David to straight-up wrestle each other — I can’t wait to see how the always affable and charming Green will get utilized here. I don’t actually think Darlene and Ben will hit a legitimate rough patch because of this, and I don’t even really want it, but I do love a good shake-up.

Here's what fans can look forward to when the season premiere arrives, and one has to wonder if Darlene's celebrating is what sets her up to cross paths with Chad.

I can’t imagine that Chad will actually cause any permanent changes to any married couples’ statuses within The Conners, but I’ll be sitting front and center to see what kind of awkward situations he does cause. Co-star Emma Kenney did say the series finale leaves some open-ended questions for the future, so maybe we can look forward to a Chad-centered spinoff in the future? [Cue Roseanne Conner’s opening titles laughter.]

If you ask the average person who’s watched the Marvel movies in order, but isn’t familiar with the comics, chances are they don’t know who Howard the Duck is. That’s fair considering he only made minor appearances in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies and a blink-and-you-miss it cameo in Avengers: Endgame. However, the animated TV show What If… ? did showcase alternate versions of Howard in several episodes. But could the wisecracking, anthropomorphic bird brain get a solo project in the MCU?

Seth Green, who’s been voicing Howard the Duck since 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy, gave his thoughts on this while speaking to Comicbook. In his opinion, Howard is better administered in small doses and doesn’t need to be the focus of his own story. As he explained:

I would push back against that a little considering all the Marvel Comics titles Howard the Duck has led since he was introduced in 1973’s Adventure into Fear #19, created by writer Steve Gerber and artist Val Mayerik. But then I remember 1986’s Howard the Duck, which is frequently considered to be one of the worst movies ever made (though some good came out of it for star Lea Thompson). Nearly 40 years after its release, I wouldn’t blame Marvel Studios to be hesitant for wanting to place Howard front and center, even if Seth Green’s version of the character is more faithful to the source material.

Seth Green seems to be ok with that, though that’s not to say he doesn’t want to voice Howard anymore. Rather, he’s content with the character continuing to hang out on the sidelines. Green enjoyed how Howard was used in the Guardians movies and those What If… ? episodes, but he’s not sure what can be done to effectively boost him in a more prominent capacity.

Not only do I agree with him, I’d go a step further and say it may be a long time until we see Howard the Duck in the MCU again, if ever at all. What If… ? ended last December after three seasons, and now that James Gunn is running DC Studios, there’s no indication of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 4 will happen with a different filmmaker at the helm (although Vin Diesel did share that a Groot movie is apparently in the works). Unless Joe and Anthony Russo are keen on including Howard in the next two Avengers movies, I can’t of any other project where he could fit in seamlessly.

A few years ago, Seth Green revealed that he had an upsetting experience while working with Bill Murray as a child actor. When he was on an episode of Saturday Night Live as a nine-year-old, Green says that Murray grabbed him by the ankles and dangled him over a trash can – an event that he says left him horrified and hiding in his dressing room. It's a terrible memory, but he credits advice from the legendary Eddie Murphy for helping him recover from the moment.

Green recently reflected on his encounter with Bill Murray during an interview with ComicBook.com – the actor presently celebrating the 20th anniversary of his Adult Swim series Robot Chicken. Reflecting on what happened, he said that he doesn't wish any negativity toward Murray, and as scary as the encounter was, he recalls the night as being a major turning point in his life. He explained,

Now 51 years old, Seth Green appeared in the 1981/1982 season of Saturday Night Live when Bill Murray was hosting. He was emotionally distraught following his behind-the-scenes encounter with the comedian, but he says that it was cast members Eddie Murphy and Tim Kazurinsky who successfully talked him into being a part of the show:

He earned a lot of fans for his turn as Oz on Buffy The Vampire Slayer and has continued to be a presence on television for decades while also making movies like the Austin Powers trilogy, Idle Hands and the star-ridden Can't Hardly Wait. As a voice actor, he has played Chris Griffin in over 400 episodes of Family Guy to date and was introduced as the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Howard The Duck in 2014's Guardians Of The Galaxy (a role he has reprised multiple times in the years since).

Ryan Reynolds

Ryan Reynolds is known for big screen ventures like the Deadpool films nowadays, but The X-Files fans saw a very young version of the actor in the Season 3 episode “Syzygy” in 1996… briefly, anyway! His character was killed off before the end of the cold open, but Reynolds would go on to star in ABC’s hit Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place sitcom from 1998-2001.

Bryan Cranston

Bryan Cranston proved a master of comedy with Malcolm in the Middle and of drama with Breaking Bad, but he flexed his acting muscles on The X-Files earlier on. While playing the ill-fated Patrick Crump in the Season 6 episode “Drive” wasn’t his first TV credit, the 1998 gig introduced him to executive producer Vince Gilligan, who would go on to cast Cranston as Walter White.

Jack Black

Long before School of Rock and The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Jack Black played Bart “Zero” Liquori in Episode 3 of The X-Files’ third season in 1995. He would later star in TV projects like Tenacious D between 1997-2000, The Brink in 2015, and the Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight animated series from 2022-2023.

Terry O'Quinn

Terry O’Quinn portrayed three different franchise characters. He played Lt. Brian Tillman in the “Aubrey” episode of Season 2 in 1995, SAC Michaud in The X-Files: Fight the Future feature film, and Shadow Man in the “Trust No 1” episode of Season 9 in 2002. Best known now as John Locke on Lost from 2004-2010, he also recurred on shows including Hawaii Five-0, FBI: Most Wanted, and Resident Alien.

Luke Wilson

Luke Wilson holds a special place in the hearts of many X-Files fans for starring as the vampire sheriff Lucius Hartwell in arguably the show’s best episode: “Bad Blood” in 1998. Following that Season 5 episode, he landed multi-episode gigs on shows including That ‘70s Show and Roadies before starring in the DC Comics-based series Stargirl from 2020-2022.

Lucy Liu

Future Kill Bill actress Lucy Liu played Kim Hsin in The X-Files’ third season episode called “Hell Money” back in 1996. She debuted in her first series regular role on the sitcom Pearl later that year, but her big TV break would be Ling Woo on Ally McBeal before playing Dr. Joan Watson in CBS’ Elementary from 2012-2019.

Tony Shalhoub

Before he was an Emmy- and Tony Award-winner, Tony Shalhoub appeared in the Season 2 episode of The X-Files called “Soft Light” as the very stressed Dr. Chester Ray Banton. While he was already starring on NBC’s sitcom Wings at the time, his most acclaimed (and award-winning) work came later with Monk starting in 2002 and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel starting in 2017.

Jane Lynch

The ninth season of The X-Files wasn't the most popular, but the “Lord of the Flies” episode in 2001 featured Jane Lynch as Mrs. Anne T. Lokensgard years before she introduced the world to Sue Sylvester on Fox’s Glee. For that role, she'd be nominated for three Emmys and win one over the course of six seasons from 2009-2015.

Felicity Huffman

Considering Felicity Huffman's later fame for Sports Night, American Crime, and Desperate Housewives, it can be easy to overlook her very early episode of The X-Files as Dr. Nancy Da Silva in 1993. The Season 1 episode was an homage to the iconic horror film The Thing and remains one of the show’s best more than thirty years later.

Shia LaBeouf

When one thinks of Shia LaBeouf as a child star, his lead role as Louis Stevens in Disney Channel’s Even Stevens from 2000-2003 probably comes to mind first. One year earlier, however, the future household name played a sick youngster by the name of Richie in a Season 7 episode of The X-Files called “The Goldberg Variation.”

CCH Pounder

While CCH Pounder only appeared as Agent Lucy Kazdin in one episode of The X-Files, Season 2's “Duane Barry” was pivotal. Starting later in 1994, Pounder appeared in the first four seasons of ER before arriving on The Shield in 2002. Her longest-running role has been playing NCIS: New Orleans' Dr. Loretta Wade for all seven seasons from 2014-2021.

BD Wong

While BD Wong appeared in Jurassic Park in the early ‘90s, small-screen stardom would take longer. He played Detective Glen Chao in The X-Files’ “Hell Money” episode of Season 3 in 1996, before he’d go on to a role in Oz from 1997-2003 and Law & Order: SVU starting in 2001. He’d eventually become one of the Law & Order stars to appear in most episodes.

Donal Logue

Donal Logue guest-starred in The X-Files' very first Monster of the Week episode, called “Squeeze,” in 1993. He went on to recur in later seasons of ER before starring in all five seasons of Grounded for Life and all five seasons of Gotham, which wrapped after 100 episodes in 2019.

Peter Boyle

Peter Boyle’s career goes back to the 1960s, but X-Files Season 3 fans will remember him for playing the title character in “Clyde Bruckman’s Final Repose” in 1995, for which he won an Emmy. He would then score another seven Emmy nominations for playing Frank Barone across nine seasons of Everybody Loves Raymond from 1996-2005.

Laurie Holden

Laurie Holden wasn’t a one-off guest star on The X-Files but would appear in ten episodes as Marita Covarrubias between 1996-2002. She’d become more of a household name as part of the original cast of The Walking Dead regulars, and she ranks among the Walking Dead cast members to appear in most episodes.

Aaron Paul

The future Breaking Bad star can be found in a Season 9 episode of The X-Files, called “Lord of the Flies” in 2001, where he played a character with the distinguished name of “Sky Commander Winky.” He would go on to recur on Big Love before landing his career-making role as Jesse Pinkman opposite Bryan Cranston. Post-Breaking Bad credits include The Path, BoJack Horseman, and Westworld.

Michael Emerson

Years before his Emmy-winning portrayal of Ben on Lost, Michael Emerson guest-starred in the final Monster of the Week episode of The X-Files’ original run. Called “Sunshine Days,” the Season 9 episode in 2002 preceded his guest stint on Without a Trace, his role in Saw, and of course five seasons of Lost. Other long-running roles since The X-Files include Person of Interest and Evil.

Jesse L. Martin

Jesse L. Martin arrived on The X-Files to play baseball-loving alien Josh Exley in “The Unnatural,” the Season 6 episode written and directed by David Duchovny in 1999. Later that year, Martin joined the cast of Law & Order, where he remained for nine seasons and nearly 200 episodes. The Flash was his next series regular gig until 2023, followed by The Irrational early in the 2024 TV lineup.

Bradley Whitford

While Bradley Whitford is likely best remembered for his work as Josh Lyman in The West Wing starting in 1999, he had a very different part to play in The X-Files’ second season in 1994. He portrayed the unfortunate Daniel Trepkos in “Firewalker.” Whitford has three Emmy wins to his name since the early ‘90s thanks to his work on The West Wing, Transparent, and The Handmaid’s Tale.

Paul McCrane

Paul McCrane played the titular character in the Season 4 episode called “Leonard Betts” in 1997. He’s also responsible for one of the most iconic lines in The X-Files history: “I’m sorry, but you’ve got something I need.” McCrane joined the cast of ER later that year to play Dr. Robert Romano across seven seasons, ending his time in one of the medical drama’s most memorable deaths.

Kurtwood Smith

Although he would later be quite well known for a different Fox series, Kurtwood Smith portrayed Agent Bill Patterson in the Season 3 episode called “Grotesque,” which aired on the network in 1996. Two years later, he was back on Fox for That ‘70s Show to play Red Forman for eight seasons and 200 episodes. Smith more recently reprised the role for Netflix’s That ‘90s Show.

Octavia Spencer

Octavia Spencer’s episode of The X-Files in 1999 may be better remembered as the one that delivered the first actual kiss between Mulder and Scully, but you can find the actress in the Season 7 episode titled “Millennium.” In addition to winning her Academy Award for The Help, Spencer landed many guest and recurring TV gigs before her lead role in Apple TV+’s Truth Be Told from 2019-2023.

Seth Green

Seth Green was a guest in the very first episode of The X-Files following the pilot, as Emil in “Deep Throat” in 1993. While it wasn’t his first TV role, it preceded his work as Oz on Buffy the Vampire Slayer from 1997-2000. He really hit his stride as a voice actor with Robot Chicken and Family Guy in particular, with hundreds of episodes of each show to his name.

Garrett Dillahunt

The X-Files is one of Garret Dillahunt’s earliest credits, as he played Edward Skur in the flashback-heavy Season 5 episode “Travelers” in 1998. He may be better remembered for his work in Deadwood which started several years later in 2004, followed by TV projects including all four seasons of Raising Hope, three seasons of The Mindy Project, and three seasons of Fear the Walking Dead.

Dean Norris

Dean Norris is a master of playing characters in law enforcement, including Marshal Tapia in The X-Files’ Season 2 episode “F. Emasculata” in 1995. His biggest TV break would come years later as Hank Schrader in Breaking Bad, and he appeared in all three seasons of CBS’ Under the Dome and all four seasons of TNT’s Claws before recurring in Law & Order: Organized Crime’s fourth season as well.

Lucy Lawless

Lucy Lawless’ most iconic work to date was likely as Xena in Xena: Warrior Princess for syndication from 1995-2001, but she came to network TV primetime in 2001 for two episodes of The X-Files Season 9 as alien super-soldier Shannon McMahon. She’d go on to recur across the last three seasons of Battlestar Galactica and become one of the faces of Starz’s Spartacus franchise of shows starting in 2010.

Brad Dourif

Brad Dourif is one of The X-Files’ most memorable early guest stars as serial killer Luther Lee Boggs in Season’s “Beyond the Sea” in 1991, but he really made a mark on TV starting in 2004 with playing Doc Cochran in Deadwood. More recently, he has been voicing the demonic doll himself in the Chucky series that premiered in 2021.

Bruce Campbell

After the Evil Dead films, Bruce Campbell was a perfect casting for a show like The X-Files in its sixth season. He played Wayne Weinsider in the twisted “Terms of Endearment” episode of 1999. Campbell would later spend seven seasons on USA as part of the Burn Notice cast, and – of course – reprise his role as Ash for all three seasons of the Ash vs Evil Dead TV show.

Willie Garson

The late Willie Garson played two different characters on The X-Files: Quinton “Roach” Freely in Season 3’s “The Walk” in 1995 and Henry Weems in Season 7’s “The Goldberg Variation” in 1999. His most well-known work is likely playing Stanford Blatch on Sex and the City across all six seasons starting in 1998. He would also star in all six seasons of USA’s White Collar following its 2009 premiere.

Giovanni Ribisi

Giovanni Ribisi certainly wasn’t unknown in television when he guest-starred as Darin Peter Oswald in Season 3 of The X-Files in 1995, but it was before he made his Friends debut as Frank Buffay Jr. More significantly, he starred in Fox’s Dads opposite Seth Green from 2013-2014 and then all three seasons of Prime Video’s Sneaky Pete from 2015-2019.

Mark Sheppard

Mark Sheppard only had a couple of credits in the entertainment industry to his name when he appeared as Cecil L’Ively in the Season 1 episode “Fire” in 1993. He then landed ongoing roles in shows like Soldier of Fortune, Inc., 24, and Battlestar Galactica, but he’s best known for portraying the fan-favorite demon Crowley on Supernatural for eight of the show’s fifteen seasons.

Danny Trejo

Danny Trejo came to The X-Files in Season 8 to play Cesar Ocampo in “Redrum” in the show’s early post-Mulder era. In addition to some film credits following TXF, he arrived on The Young and the Restless in 2008 and – most notably – Sons of Anarchy to play Romeo Parada starting in 2011. He’s also a prolific voice actor for shows including King of the Hill, The Adventures of Puss in Boots, and Big City Greens.

Casting has changed a lot over the last few years in Hollywood. Not only are there more diverse shows and casts in many shows and movies, but there has been a change in the way casting producers hire talent. One of the major places this has become apparent is with some of the best animated shows like The Simpsons or Family Guy, programs which have recast voice roles in order to highlight diversity. 

This most notably happened when The Simpsons cut Apu after Hank Azaria revealed he wanted to step down from the role. However, it happened on Family Guy too when longtime cast member Mike Henry stepped down from playing Cleveland Brown (and also a smattering of other voice roles). He was replaced by Arif Zahir. Henry and Zahir had a fun exchange when the Cleveland torch was passed. 

Now, in a recent interview with the LA Times, Seth Green tried to give context to why actors often play so many different roles on the show. He said budgets and casting were tight at the time and the series wasn't thinking about "authentic representation." They were just thinking about getting myriad tasks done with people who were hanging around. 

MacFarlane joked, ”Well, this is going to go well on social media,” but Seth Green was making a point that described the priorities that used to exist and why those priorities eventually changed. At the time Family Guy was being produced early on, in order to not balloon budgets, the cast took on lots of different voice roles in order to film some of Family Guy's funniest episodes. There was no thought about casting people based on being authentic to that role. 

Yet, once attention was drawn to the feelings of people who were more knowledgeable on the subject, then the people involved realized that change could help the show to grow and evolve. This is why Cleveland Brown was recast on the series. Green called the change "a positive thing." 

Family Guy has been on the TV schedule since 1999, which means it was on the air before we even had the Y2K scare. Suffice to say a lot has happened and changed in society in the time since. And while the show continues to do some of the same stuff it has done for years (like the sometimes “maligned” cutaways involving Game of Thrones and more), other things are new for the series, with Rich Appel summing it up: 

Doubtless, if Family Guy stays on the air for another five, or 10, or 25 years, even more about the show will change and grow and evolve -- though it sounds as if those cutaways are here to stay. 

That ‘90s Show made a serious splash amongst Netflix subscribers when it premiered on the platform in 2023. So it wasn’t all that surprising when the streamer opted to renew the That ‘70s Show spinoff for a second season, which is set to air later this year. Details on the next adventures for Point Place’s latest set of eclectic teens are scarce at the moment. However, it now seems we have confirmation from Mila Kunis that she and Ashton Kutcher won’t be returning to the show following their guest spots in Season 1. On the bright side though, another great OG guest star is set to pop up again.

Why Mila Kunis And Ashton Kutcher Likely Won’t Return To That ‘90s Show

Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, who are married in real life, reprised their roles as Michael Kelso and Jackie Burkhart, respectively, during the pilot episode of ‘90s Show. It’s revealed that the two are about to get married (again) and are also parents. While they only appeared briefly, their scene was easily one of the most-talked about moments of the episode. So it was understandable that when ET caught up with Kunis at PaleyFest, the outlet asked her about possibly popping up on the sitcom again with her hubby. When turning down the notion, the actress provided the following explanation: 

Mace Coronel’s Jay Kelso – the son of Jackie and Michael – serves as one of the main characters on the show. Like his father, he has a tendency to be flirty, but he also has a somewhat earnest side. Based on the sentiments she shared above, the Bad Moms alum seems to be pleased to hand over the reins to Coronel and step away from her role. The notion of Jackie and Michael not appearing again may be disappointing to some, but the logic is understandable. 

Don’t think this decision means Mila Kunis has no sort of affection for this small-screen franchise, though. Ashton Kutcher actually revealed that fans can thank Kunis for making their cameos happen. Amid the show’s release, Kutcher revealed that his wife opined that they should reprise their roles because they owe their careers to That ‘70s Show. You have to appreciate that sentimentality. And, on the flip side, you also have to love that another series alum is pumped about appearing on the sequel series.

Which Classic ‘70s Show Alum Is Returning For The Netflix Show?

So far a number of ‘70s Show veterans have reunited with Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith on Netflix’s spinoff. Topher Grace and Laura Prepon returned as Eric Forman and now wife, Donna (formerly Pinciotti) and Wilmer Valderrama reprised his role as Fez. Also re-entering the fold were Don Stark (Bob Pinciotti), Jim Rash (Fenton) and Tommy Chong (Leo Chingkwake). Now, Seth Green is set to return in the role of Mitch Miller, as the star himself revealed that while speaking to ET alongside Family Guy co-star Mila Kunis:

The antagonistic Mitch Miller appeared several times throughout the original show’s fifth and sixth seasons. A smarmy classmate of the OG gang, he got on their bad sides on a couple of occasions and even nearly came to blows with Eric after he embarrassed Donna. Seth Green didn’t reveal how Mitch factors into ‘90s Show, but I’m curious to see how it plays out and am pumped that Green is excited to make multiple appearances on the series.

It’s clear that the producers are definitely looking to maintain continuity between both of the franchise’s shows and, as long as said cameos remain organic (and funny), I’m here for them. Let’s hope Seth Green delivers a memorable return as Mitch, and keep your fingers crossed that Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher surprise us with another visit from Jackie and Kelso.

When it comes to the best movies of the 1990s, Clueless is definitely up there! It’s not only a hilarious high school comedy with all its quotable lines and fashion moments, it’s a pop culture minefield of the era! While the original cast of Clueless is absolutely perfect, over the years, it's been revealed that numerous big name actors were almost in the classic ’90s movie. From Reese Witherspoon to Gwyneth Paltrow, a lot of massive stars crossed paths with the Beverly Hill-set film before Alicia Silverstone, Paul Rudd and more were officially cast.

Reese Witherspoon 

Years before Reese Witherspoon starred in iconic movies like Legally Blonde, Election and Cruel Intentions, the actress auditioned “so hard” for Clueless, clearly to play Cher Horowitz. While talking to BuzzFeed, she shared the role that got away. It’s not hard to see her as the leading character, but of course she’s gone on to have a fabulous career without wearing that yellow plaid matching set. At the time, casting director Carrie Frazier recalls Witherspoon was “amazing,” but Alicia Silverstone was ultimately the right Cher. 

Kerry Washington

At the same time Reese Witherspoon shared her audition for Clueless, her Little Fires Everywhere co-star Kerry Washington explained that she tried out for a role in the comedy as well! We can totally see Washington rocking the role of Cher’s best friend Dionne Davenport, but it was, of course, Stacey Dash’s part to win. While realizing their unique connection, Witherspoon and Washington joked they should “recreate” a Clueless scene together. 

Ben Affleck 

Another big name that could have been in the 1995 movie is Ben Affleck! At the time, Affleck was just stepping into the Hollywood scene with roles in School Ties and Dazed and Confused when he was considered for Paul Rudd’s part as Josh. Reportedly, Affleck passed on the role in order to do his first movie with Kevin Smith, Mallrats, as well as Glory Days. But as casting director Carrie Frazier said, per ET, she was “really trying to get” Affeck for the part and was “heartbroken” when it didn’t go to him at first.  

Terrence Howard

Before Donald Faison earned the role of Murray in Clueless, Terrence Howard was reportedly a “top contender” for Dionne’s boyfriend. At the time, Howard was also pretty new to Hollywood, but he’d done guest spots in All My Children, Living Single and Family Matters. While Howard didn’t get the role, he would go on to be part of Mr. Holland’s Opus, which became a part of the 1995 award season conversation. 

Zach Braff 

Speaking of Donald Faison, the actor’s future BFF and Scrubs co-star Zach Braff was also up for Clueless as Josh as well. All we know is that he auditioned for Paul Rudd’s part, but didn’t get it. Braff and Rudd certainly look somewhat alike, and we have to wonder if Faison and Braff passed each other at the casting office years prior to meeting on Scrubs. 

Angelina Jolie 

Carrie Frazier has also revealed in the past that Angelina Jolie was among the actors who auditioned for Cher Horowitz at the time. However, the casting director shared that she felt Jolie was “too knowing” for playing the high schooler and found her to be “exactly the opposite” of what they needed for the role. 1995 would become the year Jolie first starred in a movie, but it was for Hackers instead. 

Jeremy Renner

Another memorable member of the Clueless cast was Breckin Meyer’s Travis Birkenstock, who played the school’s resident stoner/skater kid. According to ABC, the eventual Avengers actor “came down to the finals” to play Travis at the time and was “very funny” in his audition. If he had gotten it, it would have been Renner’s first movie. Instead, 1995’s National Lampoon’s Senior Trip was his first film! 

Keri Russell

Director Amy Heckerling reportedly had her “heart set” on Alicia Silverstone quite early on for Cher Horowitz (per ET), but she was asked to “explore” all the options, so she went ahead and did so. Among the names she has shared that auditioned is Keri Russell, who would of course go on to star in another iconic coming-of-age leading role with Felicity. 

Sarah Michelle Gellar

Another future ‘90s TV icon who auditioned for Clueless just a couple of years before getting her big break leading a show was Sarah Michelle Gellar. The Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress auditioned as Cher’s nemesis at school Amber, which Elisa Donovan ended up playing. In this case, Gellar was actually offered the role before Donovan, but she had to pass it up due to a role she had at the time on All My Children.  

Seth Green 

Another actor that was reportedly up for Travis Birkenstock along with Jeremy Renner before Breckin Meyer, was the actor’s pal Seth Green. While he didn’t get the part, the actor would star in another iconic ‘90s teen movie in 1998’s Can’t Hardly Wait which starred the likes of Jennifer Love Hewitt.

Dave Chappelle

Dave Chappelle could have been in Clueless too in Donald Faison’s role of Murray. The director apparently met with the comedian while casting for the part after being a fan of Robin Hood: Men In Tights. However, what allowed Faison to win over him was his more “innocent” appeal. She felt Chappelle was a bit too edgy for the high school role. 

Gwyneth Paltrow 

Lastly, we also know that Gwyneth Paltrow was also in the running for Cher. It sounds like the studio really wanted her to be in the movie after she had been in 1993’s Flesh And Bone. However, the director shared she never actually got to see Paltrow audition. Paltrow would go on to star in Se7en that year!

So many huge actors were considered for Clueless. While it’s fun to imagine these other great talents as these iconic characters, the casting team of the comedy really made some incredible choices. We wouldn’t want it any other way! 

Taylor Swift continues to prove why her Eras Tour is the hottest ticket of 2023. It’s been a delight to see which celebrities get out for a night of dancing with their kids or with friends, engaging in all of the fun Swiftie etiquette (like Simu Liu, with his massive haul of friendship bracelets). With Swift in the middle of six shows in Los Angeles, the celebrity sightings can only be expected to increase, and Sarah Michelle Gellar proved as much, embracing her “Eras Era” on a night out with friends, including one very familiar face.

Sarah Michelle Gellar served up a side of nostalgia, as she donned a sparkling white halter top for one of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour shows at Sofi Stadium. The actress posted several photos and a video to Instagram, showing that she took the concert in with her Buffy the Vampire Slayer co-star Seth Green. Check out the pics below! 

The actress made a kissy face in a selfie with Seth Green, before a video showed the duo rocking out to “I Knew You Were Trouble.” Other highlights from the Sunnydale High reunion, aka Eras Tour, included Sarah Michelle Gellar hanging out with Este Haim, one-third of the group HAIM, who opened for Taylor Swift. 

The Cruel Intentions star proved successful in the friendship bracelet exchange, featuring far more in the last photo of her post than she had in the first frame, before setting out in her dazzling white attire. I’m not sure, however, if her bracelet game was quite as on point as Jennifer Garner’s.

Seth Green and Sarah Michelle Gellar were just two of many famous faces to make it out for T-Swift. Mindy Kaling attended the first night of the L.A. leg, living her best Swiftie life, along with Alexandra Daddario and a murderer’s row of other celebs. While the Buffy stars appeared to be spending the hours-long affair in the VIP section and backstage, others chose to brush shoulders with the civilians as they took in the concert.

Frozen star Josh Gad seemed happy to play doting dad, as he took his family to the show and shared a video of the “Anti-Hero” songstress from somewhere in the stands. Community’s Danny Pudi and his daughter weren’t quite in nose-bleed territory, as they enjoyed the show from higher up as well.

It’s not just Los Angeles that brings the stars out for Taylor Swift, though. Longtime Swifties Laura Dern and Emma Stone were among the celebs to make it out for their friend’s Eras Tour opening, with videos showing the crew having an absolute blast as they danced and sang along. 

But if we’re talking about dancing the night away, possibly nobody had more fun than Aaron Rodgers, who was among the more surprising sightings on the Eras Tour. The New York Jets quarterback was seen in the VIP section at MetLife Stadium outside New York, with Miles Teller, Bradley Cooper and Julia Garner. Only Murders in the Building star Paul Rudd was also present, caught on camera accepting friendship bracelets with fans.

We love seeing Taylor Swift unite so many people in their love for her music, and when it can bring together old co-stars like Sarah Michelle Gellar and Seth Green, it’s definitely a bonus. Stay tuned, because there are likely more big celebrity sightings to come, with three nights in Los Angeles remaining.

Bill Murray has been at the center of a number of significant stories over the past week. He made headlines after comedian Rob Schneider claimed that he “hated” the ‘90s SNL cast, particularly Chris Farley. Around the same time, Seth Green called out the 72-year-old actor for a situation that allegedly took place when he was a kid. And in addition to these criticisms and more, Murray also finds himself on the receiving end of a sexaul assault complaint. In regard to said grievance, a new report also claims that the star had to shell out some money. 

Back in April, it was reported that Being Mortal, Aziz Ansari’s directorial debut, had shut down production due to an investigation involving cast member Bill Murray. Specific details on the matter weren’t initially shared, but it was said that someone made a complaint against Murray for allegedly engaging in “inappropriate behavior.” Murray later stated that he had a “difference of opinion” with a female crew member.

A recent report from Puck now alleges that the Ghostbusters: Afterlife alum kissed and straddled the “much younger” female crew member. The news outlet purports that the woman was “horrified” by the alleged situation and “interpreted his actions as entirely sexual.” As a result, she reportedly filed the aforementioned complaint. It’s been claimed that the actor has now paid a $100,000 settlement to the unnamed crew member. 

Shortly after production on Being Mortal was shut down, Bill Murray addressed the misconduct claim during which he said, “I did something I thought was funny and it wasn’t taken that way.” At the time, the star said that he and his colleague were “trying to make peace with each other” and that the ordeal as a whole had been “quite an education” for him.

Aside from Being Mortal, much has been said about the performer’s work on Saturday Night Live as of late. As mentioned, Rob Schneider said that he was not kind to the ‘90s cast but was allegedly most displeased with Chris Farley. Schneider claimed that this was due to the fact that Farley heavily emulated John Belushi, who was a friend of the Groundhog Day star. 

Seth Green, during an appearance on Good Mythical Morning, took things a step further and claimed that Bill Murray put him in a trash can when he was a child actor making a guest appearance on SNL for a Christmas sketch. According to Green, it began when he, a 9-year-old at the time, was sitting on the arm of a couch backstage, and Murray purportedly took issue with him sitting in “his seat.” Green then said that it was when he refused to move that Murray took action:

Another alleged story revolving around the veteran comedian came from Geena Davis, who worked with him on the film Quick Change. Davis purported to People that he “insisted” on using a massage device on her. In her memoir, the actress said that she “said no multiple times, but he wouldn't relent.” The Oscar winner then went on to say that “placed the thing on my back for a total of about two seconds.” 

At present, Bill Murray is slated to appear in the Marvel movie Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (a development that Paul Rudd has spoken about.) As for Being Mortal, production is still suspended, and Murray’s involvement with the project remains unconfirmed. It currently remains to be seen whether the actor’s reps will make a statement regarding the alleged settlement and the claims from Seth Green and co.

Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe arrived with a bang thanks to projects on both the small and silver screens. One of the most highly anticipated movies coming down the line is James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which is expected to end the current franchise as we know it. And Howard the Duck actor Seth Green recently let slip a key detail about James Gunn’s threequel.

Both Guardians of the Galaxy movies featured a brief cameo by Howard the Duck, to fans’ delight. Seth Green voiced the role, who is also expected to pop up in What If…? Green recently revealed he’s not sure if he’ll have a part in Guardians 3, but that he knows one aspect of the movie’s plot. As he put it,

Take my money, James Gunn. The relationship between Gamora and Nebula has been one of the most emotional storylines for the Guardians throughout their movies and appearances in Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. And it looks like the sisters will once again be key to the story in Guardians 3. Looks like I’ll be bringing tissues to the theater.

Seth Green’s comments to ComicBook are sure to inspire countless new fan theories about what Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 might contain. It makes sense that Thanos’ daughters and their relationship will seemingly factor majorly into the story of the threequel, especially with 2014 Gamora essentially stranded in the future. But now their roles might be reversed, with Nebula becoming the more nurturing one. Either way I can’t wait.

The Gamora we grew to love was killed in Avengers: Infinity War by Thanos so he could procure the Soul Stone. She was “revived” when 2014 Thanos and company came into the present during a complication from the Time Heist. She saved Nebula and joined the good guys for the final battle, but departed the battlefield to locations unknown.

Obviously Nebula isn’t the only person who is invested in finding Gamora and reuniting this version of her with the team in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Peter Quill/ Star-Lord was in a relationship with Zoe Saldana’s character ahead of her death. The rest of the Guardians team also traveled with the green gal for years.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is currently expected to arrive in theaters on May 5th, 2022. In the meantime, check out the 2021 movie release dates to plan your next movie experience.

Throughout its first season, Marvel’s What If…? has managed to flip the script on some of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s biggest moments, creating some truly wild alternate scenarios in the process. Amid the madness, though, the show also allows fans to spend time with MCU characters that don’t get as much screen time as the likes of the Avengers or the Guardians of the Galaxy. Seth Green’s Howard the Duck falls into this category and, thankfully, the intergalactic bird gets time to shine here. Now, following the character’s first appearance on the series, Green has shared some wild ideas for future episodes, including one that involves an iconic villain.

Seth Green, who first voiced the MCU’s version of Howard the Duck in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy, returned to voice Howard in the second episode of What If…?. In the cosmic installment, Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa is reimagined as Star-Lord and crosses paths with Howard in the Collector’s gallery of living antiquities. While the duck has a few nice scenes, he’s very much a supporting character. When I recently spoke with Seth Green about his work on the show, he shared that he’d love to see some stories that relate to Howard’s past:

As the veteran actor and I discussed during our chat, the Collector wanted Howard because of his unique nature. But one can’t help but wonder how things could’ve turned out for the droll duck had he not been abducted. Green went on to mention another potential story, which would put Howard in a more sinister position:

If I'm being honest, I would love to see a What If…? episode in which Howard the Duck guides Galactus to his next intergalactic meal and simultaneously busts his chops? It certainly wouldn’t be the strangest idea, and it could be possible at some point in the future, Marvel Studios is now in possession of Fox’s library of characters, and there’s a firm chance that the Devourer of Worlds, the Fantastic Four and others may be on his way to the MCU down the road. But Seth Green’s hopes for Howard don’t stop at What If…?, either. Green, who’s also a longtime comic book fan, would love to see an adaptation of a 2016 story that pairs Howard with a notable Marvel hero:

There are an infinite number of possibilities for Howard the Duck within the MCU going forward, and Seth Green’s ideas would make wonderful landing spots for the beloved fowl. And regardless of whether those ideas come to fruition, most would probably agree that the cinematic universe could use a little more of him. Marvel Studios may not be out of luck, but that doesn’t mean they can’t go duck.

While it never found the same high-speed traction as the concurrent Fast & Furious franchise, 2003's The Italian Job proved to be a similarly fun, zany, edge-of-your-seat heist action thrill ride with a starry ensemble, high stakes, and many cool, sporty Minis zipping across the screen. It didn't reach the same critical heights as the original 1969 British film either, but the remake found a great deal of success, especially in the U.S. Namely, it paved the way for director F. Gary Gray to transition into the action genre, helming The Fate of the Furious and reuniting with Charlize Theron and Jason Statham.

Also starring Mark Wahlberg, Edward Norton, and Donald Sutherland, The Italian Job is about as fresh and entertaining as you can hope a modernized remake of a bonafide classic can be, and it's hard to believe that 18 whole years have passed since the high-octane movie speed into theaters. Mark Wahlberg (Charlie Croker)

As Charlize Croker, the team's mastermind thief, Mark Wahlberg leads the crew and seeks revenge against Steve Frazelli as the protagonist of F. Gary Gray's The Italian Job. Formerly known as Marky Mark, Wahlberg transitioned into acting with Renaissance Man, The Basketball Diaries, and Fear before Boogie Nights propelled his movie career into stardom. From there, the actor received an Oscar nomination for his supporting turn in The Departed. Wahlberg was also Oscar-nominated for producing The Fighter, which he also starred in. Mark Wahlberg's movie credits also include Lone Survivor, Shooter, I Heart Huckabees, Three Kings, The Perfect Storm, The Other Guys, Ted 1 & 2, Transformers: Age of Extinction, Transformers: The Last Knight, Daddy's Home 1 & 2, Instant Family, Deepwater Horizon, and Pain & Gain.

Most recently, Mark Wahlberg starred in and produced Paramount+'s Infinite. He'll also be seen in Joe Bell, which he also produced, later this year. Charlize Theron (Stella Bridger)

In the role of Stella Bridger, a safe and vault breaker, as well as John's daughter, Charlize Theron plays the female lead in 2003's The Italian Job. Most notably, Theron won an Oscar for her central performance in Monster, which came out the same year. She was also Oscar-nominated for her leading work in North Country and, most recently, for her role in the cast of Bombshell. Additionally, the A-list actress is known for Mad Max: Fury Road, Atomic Blonde, The Devil's Advocate, Prometheus, The Cider House Rules, Young Adult, Tully, Æon Flux, and The Fate of the Furious. Theron also starred in Snow White and the Huntsman, Reindeer Games, That Thing You Do!, The Road, Tully, Hancock, Mighty Joe Young, The Yards, and Long Shot. She also lent her voice to The Addams Family (2019).

Last year, Charlize Theron produced and starred in The Old Guard. Most recently, the actress reprised her role as Cipher in F9. Coming up next, Charlize Theron will be heard in the Addams Family sequel. Additionally, the A-list star recently finished production on The School for Good and Evil.

Edward Norton (Steve Frazelli)

Playing the part of Steve Frazelli, the inside man who betrays the crew and leaves them for dead, Edward Norton is a smarmy villain in F. Gary Gray's The Italian Job. Following his Oscar-nominated breakout role in Primal Fear, the acclaimed actor also received Academy Award nominations for his lead performance in American History X and his supporting turn in Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance). The actor is also recognized for starring in Fight Club, 25th Hour, The Illusionist, Rounders, The Score, Death to Smoochy, The Incredible Hulk, and Pride and Glory. Additionally, Norton produced and starred in The Painted Veil, Leaves of Grass, and Down in the Valley, which he also edited.

Furthermore, Edward Norton directed, produced, and starred in Keeping the Faith and wrote, produced, directed, and starred in Motherless Brooklyn. His other film credits include Moonrise Kingdom, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Red Dragon, Frida, The People vs. Larry Flynt, and Everyone Says I Love You. Next, Norton reunites with Wes Anderson for The French Dispatch. He's also signed on to appear in Knives Out 2.

Donald Sutherland (John Bridger)

As John Bridger, Stella's old-fashioned father and an ace safecracker, Donald Sutherland plays Charlie's longtime partner and a mentor figure in The Italian Job (2003). An Emmy-winning actor for his lead performance in HBO's Citizen X, Sutherland is a celebrated actor of screens both big and small, notably with acclaimed turns in MASH, Klute, The Dirty Dozen, Don't Look Now, National Lampoon's Animal House, Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978), Ordinary People, JFK, Without Limits, Space Cowboys, Threshold, Kelly's Heroes, Outbreak, Cold Mountain, and The Hunger Games franchise. He's also recognized from A Time to Kill, Pride & Prejudice (2005), 1900, Eye on the Needle, The Eagle Has Landed, and Fellini's Casanova. On television, additionally, Sutherland appeared in Trust, Dirty Sexy Money, and Human Trafficking.

Most recently, Donald Sutherland played a supporting role in HBO's The Undoing. He also appeared in Alone and The Burnt Orange Heresy. Next, Sutherland will star in Moonfall and James Gray's Armageddon Time. He also filmed a part in Quibi's Swimming with Sharks, though the show's status is unclear after the company folded.

Jason Statham (Handsome Robb)

In the role of Handsome Robb, the team's wheelman, Jason Statham played a sharp-looking ladies man in F. Gary Gray's The Italian Job. Previously a member of Britain's national diving team, Statham started his acting career with Guy Ritchie's Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels. From there, he appeared in Snatch, Ghosts of Mars, and The One before he transitioned into leading man roles with The Transporter series. He also starred in the Crank movies, The Bank Job, The Mechanic movies, In the Name of the King, Safe, Death Race, and The Meg, as well as War, Revolver, Redemption, Killer Elite, and Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, which he also produced. Additionally, Statham played notable supporting roles in The Expendables trilogy, Fast & Furious 6, Spy, Furious 7, The Fate of the Furious, Collateral, and Cellular.

Most recently, Jason Statham starred in Wrath of Man. Next, the actor will frontline and produce Guy Ritchie's untitled new movie, which is rumored to be called Five Eyes. He's also expected to star in The Meg 2: The Trench and Small Dark Look.

Seth Green (Lyle)

Playing the part of Lyle, the team's computer expert, Seth Green was the comedic relief in 2003's The Italian Job. Outside of this remake, Green played Scott Evil in the Austin Powers movies. His other film credits include Rat Race, Without a Paddle, Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, Radio Days, Can't Hardly Wait, My Stepmother Is An Alien, and A Futile and Stupid Gesture. He also voices Howard the Duck in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy movies. Recently, Green wrote, directed, and starred in Changeland.

Away from the big screen, Seth Green is the co-creator and most-frequent voice on Adult Swim's Robot Chicken. He also voices Chris Griffin on Fox's Family Guy. Additionally, Green is known for playing Daniel "Oz" Osbourne in The WB/UPN's Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Young Richie Tozier in ABC's two-part mini-series, IT. The television actor also starred in short-lived sitcoms like Greg the Bunny, Four Kings, and Dads. As a voice actor, additionally, Green can be heard in Crossing Swords, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Hulk and the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and Phineas and Ferb.

Yasiin Bey (Gilligan “Left Ear”)

As Gilligan, i.e. "Left Ear," the team's detonation expert, Yasiin Bey, formerly known as Mos Def, plays an explosive supporting character in 2003's The Italian Job. As a musician, Bey is best known for his singles like "Oh No," "Definition," and "Respiration." However, before his music career, Bey entered the entertainment business as a child actor in TV films, sitcoms, and theater. In the early 2000s, Bey transitioned into film acting, most notably with The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Be Kind Rewind, 16 Blocks, Bamboozled, Brown Sugar, Next Day Air, and The Woodsman. He also appeared in Monster's Ball, Cadillac Records, Begin Again, Life of Crime, Showtime, Where's Marlowe?, and Journey to the End of Night.

In television, additionally, Yasiin Bey was Emmy-nominated for his lead performance as Vivien Thomas in HBO's Something the Lord Made. Furthermore, Bey had a recurring role in Showtime's Dexter. The actor also appeared in House and Yo Gabba Gabba! In 2016, he publicly retired from acting. Bey's final performance was in Tour de France.

Franky G (Wrench)

In the role of Wrench, a mechanic who engineers the Minis to carry the gold, Franky G plays a splashy supporting role in F. Gary Gray's The Italian Job. Away from this film, the actor is known for playing Xavier in Saw II and III. His other movie credits include Dead Man Down, Gun Hill Road, The Devil's Tomb, Wonderland, Confidence, 36 Saints, and Fists of Love, the latter two he also produced. Also, G appeared in The Martyr Maker, Lost Cat Corona, Blowtorch, The Pastor, Laugh Killer Laugh, Tio Papi, and Manito.

Additionally, on television, Franky G played Poncho in Starz's Power. He also appeared in Quantico, Blue Bloods, Jonny Zero, Law & Order: SVU, Luke Cage, Unforgettable, CSI: Miami, and The Mysteries of Laura. Kelly Brook (Lyle’s Girlfriend)

Playing a character credited solely as Lyle's Girlfriend, Kelly Brook had one of her first film roles in 2003's The Italian Job. Starting her professional career as a world-famous model, Brook starred in NBC's short-lived sitcom, One Big Happy, and appeared in other shows such as Smallville, Britain's Got Talent, Strictly Come Dancing, Celebrity Juice, and The Masked Singer. In film, additionally, Brook can be seen in Survival Island, Piranha 3D, Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo, Ripper, House of 9, School of Seduction, Fishtales, Absolon, and Sorted. Most recently, the actress-model appeared in Santet.

Oscar Nunez (Security Guard)

Briefly seen as a security guard, Oscar Nunez received his first film credit in 2003's The Italian Job. Most notably, Nunez is best known as Oscar Martinez in NBC's The Office. Additionally, the TV actor is Emmy-nominated for his performance in History Channel's The Crossroads of History. Nunez also created and starred in Comedy Central's short-lived Halfway Home and co-starred in USA Network's Benched. Furthermore, he played Father Doug in TBS's People of Earth. Currently, Nunez appears in Netflix's Mr. Iglesias as Assistant-Principal Carlos Hernandez. His other TV credits include Malcolm in the Middle, Reno 911!, and Shameless. Also, Nunez is heard in 3Below: Tales from Arcadia.

Away from TV, Oscar Nunez's other film credits include The Proposal, The 33, Reno 911!: Miami, The Italian Job, Miss Stevens, and he appeared among the cast of Baywatch. Last year, he appeared in Yes. Earlier this year, Nunez was seen in NBC's Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist. At the moment, the actor is in the midst of filming Disenchanted and The Lost City of D. Additionally, Nunez will be heard in the dark comedy podcast series, The Bystanders.

The DC extended universe has had a fascinating tenure in theaters, full of both peaks and valleys. Following the disappointing performance of Justice League, Warner Bros. shifted away from crossover heavy blockbusters to director-driven movies. Aquaman and Shazam! helped the DCEU recover, the latter movie being directed by Annabelle: Creation'sDavid F. Sandberg. And he just revealed a surprise cameo in Shazam! that nobody clocked until now.

Big blockbusters have a lot of moving pieces, and often require tons of background actors to fill out the world that's being created. Directors have been known to put their friends in cameos of this nature, especially in comic book projects or Star Wars. And it turns out that Shazam! actually featured a blink-and-you'll-miss-it appearance from actor Seth Green. As David F. Sandberg recently revealed,

Mind blown. It looks like Seth Green briefly appeared in Shazam! But rather than revealing this and having the audience seek him out on a re-watch, David F. Sandberg revealed exactly where you can find the Robot Chicken creator.

David Sandberg revealed this tidbit via Twitter, while participating in Comic Book.com's ongoing Quarantine Watch Party. And it turns out that Seth Green is one of the background actors that are present after Billy's second visit to a strip club. The scene in question happens in the third act of Shazam!, after the title character has revealed his identity to his foster family. In order to escape Sivana's clutches, Billy must teleport his family to another location with his new powers. And when Freddy tells him to "think of anywhere", which results in the group of kids instantly appearing in the strip club that Shazam previously entered during his training montage.

After the kids walk out (and Freddy is physically kicked out), the group of foster siblings regroup in the streets. That's when Seth Green has his small role, where he walks alongside two other extras in the background of a shot. He wasn't given any real screen time, which makes the revelation of Green's part in Shazam! all the more surprising.

Little moments like this show how much fun David F. Sandberg has working on Shazam! Following the movie's release a year ago, the director has consistently shared tidbits and information about the process on social media. And it looks like he's still got a few tricks up his sleeve, as it turns out that Seth Green has had a role in the blockbuster all along.

It should be interesting to see what comes next or the Shazam! franchise, and if there are any more exciting cameos. David F. Sandberg packed plenty of surprises during his first DC blockbuster, including a Superman cameo and the introduction of the entire Shazam family in their superhero forms. If Black Adam ends up starting production on time, then perhaps we'll finally get to see Shazam fight his arch nemesis from the comics. Only time will tell.

Nearly 30 years ago, one of the most successful and championed Stephen King adaptations was crafted for ABC in the form of Tommy Lee Wallace's miniseries IT. The made-for-TV movie has certainly aged over the years, particularly where some of the plotting, performances and effects go. But in many other ways, 1990's IT feels just as timeless and terrifying as the source material.

With 2017's feature film and its September sequel bringing IT's Pennywise and The Losers Club back for modern day audiences to embrace, we're taking a look back to the original to celebrate how far its stars have come between 1990 and 2019. (When it's applicable, of course.) The actors are listed in a rough order of when their characters got on-screen focus, with the two timeline versions grouped together for clarity's sake.

Tim Reid - Mike Hanlon (1990)

Before landing the role of IT's Mike Hanlon, Tim Reid was already a big TV star thanks to roles in shows like WKRP in Cincinnati and Simon & Simon. As such, he was a solid fit to portray Derry's reluctant historian, though it might be no surprise that Reid didn't stick around with the horror genre after IT's success at the time.

After making some small-time appearances in shows like Zorro and Highlander through the early '90s, Tim Reid once again found a steady gig with the TGIF sitcom Sister Sister, and then later had a recurring stint on That 70s Show. (Some of that show's buzz-friendly substances might have helped ease some Pennywise fear, no?) In the past ten years or so, Reid has recurred on HBO's Treme, CBS' short-lived Me, Myself & I, and OWN's Greenleaf. He most recently appeared in a February episode of Grey's Anatomy.

Marlon Taylor - Mike Hanlon (1960)

Unlike Tim Reid, Marlon Taylor was not an established TV or movie star whenever he took the role of the adolescent Mike Hanlon for ABC's IT. Taylor had only one Just the Ten of Us episode, and three Doctor Doctor episodes under his belt when he starred as young Mike.

Following IT, Marlon Taylor joined the cast of the short-lived comedy You Take the Kids, which also starred Magnum P.I.'s Roger E. Mosely and future rapper Mos Def, among others. Interestingly, Marlon Taylor appeared in Tim Reid's sitcom Sister, Sister for one episode, but appeared to have taken an acting hiatus for years after that. Most recently, he popped up in an episode of Syfy's Z Nation, which has since been cancelled and spunoff as a Netflix thriller.

Richard Thomas - Bill Denbrough (1990)

Richard Thomas has been acting since he was around 5 years old, and definitely had a list of credits to his name before IT came around. With his biggest early breaks coming through The Waltons – "Good night, John Boy. – and Roots, Thomas was a natural fit for the role of a man still haunted by the horrors of his youth, and rocked that ponytail well enough.

IT didn't lead to any immediately successful follow-up gigs for Thomas, though he did appear in a spooky Tales from the Crypt episode around the same time. He later reconnected with Stephen King material for the TV anthology Nightmares and Dreamscapes, for the paralyzing "Autopsy Room Four," and has found renewed success in recent years. He was a one of the good guys throughout multiple seasons of FX's The Americans, and has appeared on major network dramas in recent years such as CBS' Elementary and Blue Bloods, and NBC's The Blacklist.

Jonathan Brandis - Bill Denbrough (1960)

By all means, Jonathan Brandis appeared destined to be one of Hollywood's biggest young stars. Prior to landing the role of young Bill in IT, he'd appeared in over a dozen movies and TV shows, from The Stepfather to L.A. Law to One Life to Live to Full House. (He even supplied some voice-over for the original Pet Semetary, strengthening the Stephen King ties.)

Jonathan Brandis' career saw an uptick after IT, too. He starred in the features Ladybugs with Rodney Dangerfield and Sidekicks with Chuck Norris, and eventually cemented his teen heartthrob status with a regular role on seaQuest DSV. Unfortunately, his career didn't maintain the same steady drive going into the 2000s, and Brandis reportedly got depressed about his downward career slope, which wasn't helped along by his role in 2002's Hart's War getting mostly excised. In November 2003, Brandis died from injuries sustained after he tried hanging himself in his apartment building's hallway.

Olivia Hussey - Audra Denbrough (1990)

The first main character we see in the movie who only exists in one timeline, Olivia Hussey's Audra Denbrough is an important element of the 1990 timeline for Bill. As such, it was smart to go with an actress that exudes such beauty and class. Prior to IT, Hussey was perhaps most known for her role in Franco Zeffirelli’s 1968 take on Romeo and Juliet, and horror fans knew her from the 1974 classic Black Christmas.

IT didn't exactly turn Olivia Hussey back into a big screen maven, but her career definitely continued over the years. Four years later, she starred in one of the most popular TV miniseries of all time, Lonesome Dove. Beyond roles in smaller films, Hussey also built up her voice-acting talents with roles in Pinky and the Brain and some of the Star Wars video games throughout the years. (She was even nominated for an Annie Award for her work on Batman Beyond.)

Tony Dakota - Georgie (1960)

Though he couldn't have realized it at the time, Tony Dakota likely starred in many IT viewers' nightmares for the next 25+ years, even though most of his other roles may have been forgotten by audiences at large. Dakota built up a decent resume just in the years surrounding IT, having taken on roles in Who's Harry Crumb?, the TV show Wiseguy, and the cartoon Captain N: The Game Master in 1989, not to mention a MacGyver appearance or two.

In 1990, Tony Dakota landed a recurring role on the hit TV show 21 Jump Street, and later took on a role in the film The Lotus Eaters in 1993. Dakota left the acting world in 1993, however, and will possibly be seen again in 2019 for the horror short Georgie, in which he would reprise his most famous role. (Interestingly enough, young Stan Uris actor Ben Heller is also in the short, which reportedly premiered in March at the Boston Underground Film Festival.)

Tim Curry - Pennywise (Both Timelines)

While John Wayne Gacy probably remains the scariest clown of all time, actor Tim Curry certainly stands out as the freakiest fictional depiction of a pale-faced jester. A prolific star of stage and screen, Curry delivered another iconic performance with Pennywise, following other celebrated character turns as Rocky Horror Picture Show's Dr. Frank N. Furter and Clue's Wadsworth. And it's no mystery why IT blew up his audiobook-reading and voice-acting career paths.

Perhaps it's partly because of the voice roles, but Tim Curry's post-IT films and TV shows have included a ton of younger-skewing content, such as Home Alone 2, The Wild Thornberrys, Young Justice and Star Wars: The Clone Wars, to name but a few. (And yes, he played King Chicken in both the Duckman TV show and the video game.) Curry suffered a major stroke in 2012, which meant his live-action roles dried up, though he did appear in Fox's TV revamp The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let's Do the Time Warp Again, which aired in 2016.

John Ritter - Ben Hanscom (1990)

By the time he was playing the formerly bullied and liquor-friendly Ben Hanscom in IT, John Ritter was already a TV star known for making people laugh across a bunch of different sitcom, but particularly for Three's Company. His film career got a decent boost in the summer of 1990 with Problem Child. (Pennywise should have gone after that kid for sure.)

The actor had several big TV roles in the years that followed, starting with Hearts Afire and including Clifford the Big Red Dog. (He voiced Clifford.) After landing recurring roles on Felicity and Scrubs, John Ritter scored his final primetime gig with 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter, co-starring Katey Sagal and Kaley Cuoco. After appearing in the entire first season, Ritter had filmed just three episodes in Season 2 when he was taken to the hospital, and died during surgery for an aortic dissection.

Brandon Crane - Ben Hanscom (1960)

While Brandon Crane is arguably best known for his role in IT, it cannot be ignored that prior to the TV movie, he'd already appeared in The Garry Shandling Show and had the recurring role of Doug Porter in The Wonder Years. So he was a natural fit for playing an empathy-drawing kid who could feasibly turn into John Ritter one day.

In 1991, Brandon Crane basically retired from acting, though he appeared in a couple of short films in 2000 and 2004. He did get into stage acting, and then started a family in the 2000s.

Jarred Blancard - Henry Bowers (1960)

The role of Henry Bowers was actor Jarred Blancard's first on-screen role, so he started his career off by playing one of the biggest pieces of a crap in any Stephen King work. Blancard didn't exactly have a long and illustrious career, but he'll always be that S.O.B. to me.

After IT, he made a variety of TV and film appearances, such as in the TV movie The Yearling and the feature The Boys Club. One interesting role of note was that of Michelangelo in the live-action series Saban's Ninja Turtles: Next Mutation. His last role of note was in The Crow: Stairway to Heaven series in 1999.

Michael Cole - Henry Bowers (1990)

Michael Cole's role as IT's Henry Bowers was admittedly slight, but he still did a fine job playing a whacko still driven by his hatred. His oddball conversation with Corpse Belch reminded me of Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt's after-hours conversation in 12 Monkeys.

In any case, Michael Cole has appeared in a bunch of different TV shows between the 1960s and the 2000s, including CHiPs, ER, The Love Boat, Wonder Woman and more. But he'll always be best remembered as one of the hippest mofos of the '70s as The Mod Squad's Pete Cochran.

Seth Green - Richie Tozier (1960)

Beep, beep, Seth Green, who was 16 years old when IT made its broadcast premiere, and already had a host of credits to his name. Green followed his monster-fighting adventures with many different projects, but it was arguably Austin Powers and Can't Hardly Wait that turned him into a superstar in the late 1990s, not to mention a. little show called Buffy the Vampire Slayer. That was also the era when he landed his long-running voice role on Fox's Family Guy.

Though several of his attempts to lead live-action series haven't gone so well over the years – R.I.P. Greg the Bunny – Green is pretty prolific in the world of animation and voice acting. He is, of course, a co-creator and star of Adult Swim's Robot Chicken, but he's also got Hulu's SuperMansion, and starred as Leonardo for Nickelodeon's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Not to mention voicing Howard the Duck for both the live-action and animated Guardians of the Galaxy. He was also part of the main cast for Star Wars Detours, which may soon find new life.

Harry Anderson - Richie Tozier (1990)

For many TV viewers of the time, seeing Harry Anderson show up on IT was something of a shock, as he was in the midst of his nine-season run on the sitcom Night Court. Not to mention his Cheers and SNL appearances, as well as his non-acting career as a comedic street magician. (To be fair to his horror cred, he was in a bonkers Tales from the Darkside and Tales from the Crypt episode.)

Honestly, it's hard to say how playing IT's Richie Tozier impacted Harry Anderson's career in the long run. After Night Court ended in 1992, he took on a four-season run with Dave's World. Following that show's end in 1997, he largely put acting in the backseat to focus on other endeavors. Anderson notably appeared on 30 Rock back in 2008 along with two of his Night Court co-stars, and randomly popped up on Comedy Bang! Bang! in 2013 and Gotham Comedy Live in 2014. Sadly, the talented entertainer passed away in April 2018 due to multiple health issues.

Annette O'Toole - Beverly Marsh (1990)

Speaking of The Mod Squad, Annette O'Toole appeared in a 1971 episode, though she'd also been seen in many more projects. One particular film role that gives her more cred around these parts – though on a sliding scale – is Superman III's Lana Lang.

After IT, Annette O'Toole landed her first big TV regular role as part of Nash Bridges opposite Don Johnson. She returned to the world of DC Comics as Martha Kent in Smallville for the first chunk of its run. She's also joined the Marvel-verse as a particularly shitty character on The Punisher, and also had a memorable recurring role on Halt and Catch Fire's early seasons. She'll soon be seen sharing the screen with Tim Matheson and Alexandra Breckenridge for Netflix's romance adaptation Virgin River, which will debut later in 2019.

Emily Perkins - Beverly Marsh (1960)

With timing on her side, Emily Perkins debuted her first TV regular role on Mom P.I. just a month or so ahead of IT's network premiere, though it's pretty obvious which one of those roles has had a bigger impact on her life. IT was actually the first of quite a few feature-length TV projects for Perkins, who later appeared in 1996's In Cold Blood and the mountain-set Christy book adaptations.

Emily Perkins followed up on the horror side of things a decade after IT, however, for the cult werewolf flick Ginger Snaps, followed by its sequel and its prequel. As far as TV series go, Perkins has popped up on The X-Files and The Twilight Zone, and had larger roles on the Canadian shows Hiccups and Da Vinci's Inquests. Most recently, she appeared in a couple of 2014 episodes of When Clals the Heart.

Dennis Christopher - Eddie Kaspbrak (1990)

With his big break coming in 1979's coming-of-age comedy Breaking Away, Dennis Christopher followed that up with a very different kind of role in the twisted thriller Fade to Black. Depending on your taste for 1993's Necronomicon: Book of Dead, Christopher arguably didn't land his next truly timeless film role until appearing in Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained in 2012.

It's fair to say, though, that Dennis Christopher has been viewed by way more eyeballs for his work on the small screen, with IT being one of several standout projects on his resume. He appeared in John Carpenter's Elvis TV movie, which deserves a mention all the time. But Christopher had bigger and memorable roles in shows such as Profiler, Freakylinks, Angel and Deadwood. His last recurring role was for Epix's political comedy Graves, which lasted two seasons.

Adam Faraizl - Eddie Kaspbrak (1960)

As the young Eddie Kaspbrak, Adam Faraizl successfully portrayed one of live-action's most Piglet-esque characters, with nervous energy brought on by a domineering mother and asthma. Having prefaced his IT performance with roles in RoboCop 2 and Lonesome Dove, Faraizl might have seemed like a star on the rise, but that wasn't exactly the case. Plus, he apparently isn't a fan of Stephen King's novels.

With his last on-screen role coming in 1992's Where the Red Fern Grows: Part Two, Adam Faraizl left acting behind to focus on other ventures. For instance, he eventually became a verified expert when it comes to the Japanese spirit saké, making him one of less than 100 recognized saké specialists in the United States. For years, Faraizl was the resident beverage director for Austin, Texas' sushi restaurant Kenichi.

Ben Heller - Stan Uris (1960)

Admittedly, not a whole lot of public knowledge is out there about actor Ben Heller, who starred as arguably the most mentally tortured of anyone in the Loser's Club, Stan. The IT miniseries is legitimately his only on-screen credit for a major release, though he also has a bit role in the Georgie short film, as mentioned above. He'll also be seen in the documentary Pennywise: The Story of IT whenever it happens to get released, so maybe he'll have an informative update about what he's been up to in the past 30 years. I'm guessing it isn't "hang out next to the Deadlights pipe."

Richard Masur - Stan Uris (1990)

Unlike his character's younger portrayer, Richard Masur has celebrated a long and successful career in acting, having kicked things off in 1974 with appearances on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, All in the Family and The Waltons. (Richard Thomas connection!) He had a stint on the sitcom One Day at a Time, and also found feature success in License to Drive and The Mean Season.

Following IT, which aired during a year in which Masur had eight credited TV roles, the actor continued to make regular appearances in popular films and series. He appeared in a string of streaming series in recent years – Orange Is the New Black, Red Oaks and Transparent – and was most recently seen in episodes of Younger and The Good Fight.

For anyone wanting to watch IT outside of a DVD or Blu-ray purchase, the miniseries isn't currently available to stream as part of any subscription services, at least at the time of this writing. Digital version of the film, however, can be bought through Amazon Video and all the other usual suspects.

As news on the upcoming Buffy The Vampire Slayer reboot has slowed over the past couple of months, the series is back in the news cycle as stars of the original took time to acknowledge the 22nd anniversary. Sarah Michelle Gellar shared a picture of herself from the show's run, and thanked fans both new and old for loving the series and keeping it relevant after all these years.

Sarah Michelle Gellar is right to celebrate Buffy The Vampire Slayer's fans, as their support over the years seems to make the show's anniversary a bit of a holiday. The 20th anniversary is a milestone for most shows, but it takes a special kind of program for fans to keep that same celebratory attitude 22 years after the fact.

Nicholas Brendon joined Sarah Michelle Gellar in thanking the fans, and posted a screenshot from the show that just screams Xander is doing something to annoy somebody.

Nicholas Brendon was actually the only member of the Season 1 Scooby gang outside of Sarah Michelle Gellar to post a message about the show, as Alyson Hannigan and Anthony Head didn't share any pictures or messages on social media. Of course, that's not the biggest crime or some definitive proof either dislikes the show, as a 22nd anniversary is quite an odd one to celebrate.

Stepping away from slayer sidekicks and moving on to vampires, it's not a surprise David Boreanaz had to share some thanks to all the Angel fans out there. He also threw a bit of shade towards Slayers with a remark that one has to think was a part of Buffy The Vampire Slayer's marketing at some point down the stretch.

If people are still debating whether or not Angel or Spike is better, it should be stated that James Marsters did not write a specific shout-out to the show on his social media. He did post videos of fans in cosplay, however, so maybe he should get a half tally mark for that.

No actor on Buffy The Vampire Slayer managed to get close to the amount of likes on Instagram that Sarah Michelle Gellar did, but second place looks like it's going to someone unexpected. Seth Green, who played Willow's off-and-on boyfriend Oz throughout the series, offered some kind words and great commentary on the show's legacy.

The high amount of likes on Seth Green's page as opposed to other actors may be because Seth Green has a larger following than other members of the Buffy cast. Additionally, he's one of the premiere actors in the industry, so he probably has more than a few fans that like Buffy The Vampire Slayer in addition to Robot Chicken and the various cartoons he does voice work for.

Rounding out the round up is Cordelia actress Charisma Carpenter, who kept her message short and sweet.

It wasn't especially heartwarming or anything, but sometimes a simple acknowledgement is plenty! It's actually weird to see the show have a hashtag abbreviation considering Twitter wasn't even an idea during its run, would "BTVS" have been the one people went with? "ScoobyGang" would've been solid, or a simple "TheWBuffy" would've been great as well.

Spoilers below for anyone who hasn't watched Robot Chicken's Walking Dead special yet.

For many fans of The Walking Dead, The Robot Chicken Walking Dead Special: Look Who's Walking got to the Merle-singing heart of what makes the franchise so ridiculous, while never quite being mean or insulting. One of the most ludicrous sequences, the Lucille-as-Superman segment, actually spawned from Robot Chicken creators Matthew Senreich and Seth Green wondering about one of The Walking Dead TV show's more inexplicably eyebrow-raising moments, which came during the episode with Rosita's attempted assassination. When Senreich and Green talked with CinemaBlend about the hilarious special, here's what they told me about that otherworldly scene:

If it's so easy to consider a humanoid entity being born and shipped over to Earth in order to do that whole world-saving thing, I suppose I'm on board with buying into a sentient baseball bat going through the same scenario, if for a purpose that's more ill-fitting for humanity at large. It was perhaps the most Robot Chicken way of answering how Negan actually survived that gunshot, since the Adult Swim series is pretty familiar with DC superheroes, but I mean, this is the zombie apocalypse, where nothing makes the most amount of logical sense. So if the bat is said to be an alien, I'm not necessarily the biggest skeptic.

Obviously, Lucille is not an alien. (And I'm not trying to tie this into the one-shot issue "The Alien," by Brian K. Vaughan and Marcos Martin.) But it's an interesting idea for how to explain this comic book-originated scenario, right? Lucille (before being attached to the name "Lucille" as far as the comic scenario goes) had parents that didn't want to give her up, which is kind of like how Bruce Wayne didn't want to give up his parents...even though both sets of birth parents died. Okay, but what if Rick's mother's name was Martha?

During the creation of the Walking Dead special, the Robot Chicken writers room was graced with the presence of the comic creator Robert Kirkman and the AMC series' showrunner Scott Gimple. And to be expected, Matthew Senreich and Seth Green hit them up for any answers that did not originate on a different planet.

Even if there's not some grandiose explanation for why Lucille was able to save Negan from a bullet, the reason why it happened is because Spencer's guts fell out, and I think we can all celebrate that, right?

Look Who's Walking, the Robot Chicken Walking Dead special, aired Sunday night on Adult Swim, and you can bet that it'll find its way online and On Demand post-haste, and in time for you to watch it a bunch of times before The Walking Dead Season 8 premieres on AMC on Sunday, October 22. While there is likely some fanbase crossover for The Walking Dead and Robot Chicken, they will come together like never before when Adult Swim debuts the half-hour mash-up special, dubbed Look Who's Walking. Robot Chicken's co-creators Matthew Senreich and Seth Green spoke with CinemaBlend about the Walking Dead special (as well as the upcoming Season 9), and they told me how the project came together, and perhaps unsurprisingly, that comic creator Robert Kirkman played a huge part in that process.

If only big jobs in my own life could have happened so smoothly. (And also with Robert Kirkman and Geoff Johns and Matthew Senreich being involved in any way.) Thankfully, Kirkman is one of the most self-aware and self-deprecating entertainers out there, and it wouldn't seem like he'd have had much of a problem with allowing Robot Chicken to send up The Walking Dead. But even as the comic creator, he can't exactly speak for everyone involved with the TV show at AMC, so it's pretty fantastic that he was able to pull whatever weight he needed to in order to secure all the proper rights and allowances. Because it is completely worth those efforts, I must say, as the special is hilarious.

Plus, it wasn't just the behind-the-scenes wheelings and dealings that Kirkman was responsible for locking down. Both he and Scott Gimple actually lent their talents when it came to getting the Walking Dead special put together from story and joke angles. Here's what else Matthew Senreich told me about Kirkman and Gimple's input.

In fact, Matthew Senreich said Scott Gimple was around for just about every day that they were in the writing process for the Walking Dead special, so that's some pretty solid dedication on his part to make sure the Robot Chicken team stayed as close to the truth of the source material as possible to inform the comedy. And considering the writing staff was penning jokes that would specifically be coming from the mouths of the actual Walking Dead cast members, from Andrew Lincoln to Steven Yeun to Melissa McBride, there are few people that would understand that process better than Gimple and Kirkman.

This will not be the first time that Robert Kirkman has shown up on Robot Chicken special, but he'll get to last a little big longer here. Since he helped so much, I jokingly asked Matthew Senreich and Seth Green if Kirkman forced them to make his character look cool on the show. Here's what Green said.

Walking Dead fanatics are going to love the Robot Chicken special, which takes a look at the entire run of the zombie drama, from Rick's post-coma days to Negan's latest efforts, and making sure to bring back some characters we haven't seen in years. (Merle!) And because of Kirkman and Gimple's assistance, it's just as winkingly reverential to the material as what we saw in the DC and Star Wars specials. Today is a sad day for fans of both Batman and Family Guy, as the legendary and always delightful Adam West has died at the age of 88. The iconic actor is known for being the very first live-action Batman, and his short battle with Leukemia shocked his generation of fans. But while the fandom may be collectively mourning, so are the many actors that West worked with in his long career in the business. And many of those peers have already written thoughtful statements on his passing, including his two Batman co-stars.

Burt Ward and Julie Newmar played starred in Batman as Robin and Catwoman respectively. They've each penned tributes to Adam West, which reflect on the legend's life. While Batman only ran for a few years, Adam West and Burt Ward's friendship lasted throughout the years and various appearances together. Burt Ward wrote,

This personal message is sure to also affect the generations of Batman fans. While many live-action incarnations of Bruce Wayne/Batman have come and gone throughout the years, Adam West's witty and campy interpretation of the character will always be the very first one. And in a time where superhero movies are so constantly focusing on gritty interpretations, the Batman TV show and accompanying movie is one that adds a sense of brightness to the property.

Variety has also curated Julie Newmar's official statement regarding Adam West's passing. Newmar was the original Catwoman, although Eartha Kitt eventually took over the role in the show's final season, and Newmar didn't appear in the film. She said,

The trio of original Batman actors recently reunited to reprise their roles through voice over work in the animated film Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders. This last project as Batman feels all the more important and precious after Adam West's death. Plans for a sequel were in the works with William Shatner set to play Two-Face, although West's passing likely puts a wrench in those plans.

Our thoughts are with Adam West's many loved ones at this time.

When you think of some of your favorite celebrities, there are certain qualities that come to mind first. Certainly in the world of Hollywood, height doesn't seem to play as much of a part. But, it may just be that we aren't noticing how tall or short some particular celebrities are. Sometimes casting can be based around height and sometimes we just can't tell how a celebrity would stack up against us.

The average height of a woman is about 5'4", of a man it is about 5'8", but when you think about Hollywood, everyone seems so much taller. Well, there are a few out there that weren't graced with Gisele Bundchen legs or Chris Hemsworth stature. And though it may not seem like it on screen, celebrities can be short too--- really, really short. Here's our list of 18 of the shortest celebrities.

Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi

Height: 4'8"

Nicole Polizzi, better known as Snooki, starred in the MTV reality TV show, Jersey Shore. Though short in stature, Snooki couldn't be missed (especially with her pouf). Her party girl antics brought a whole new meaning to the term "fun-sized".

Adrienne Bailon

Height: 4'11"

Adrienne Bailon is the face behind many pop sensations including 3LW and The Cheetah Girls. She may be small, but The Cheetah Girls wouldn't have made it without her.

Lil' Kim

Height: 4'11"

Lil' Kim's presence in the rap community is so large that it's easy not to notice the singer/songwriter is shorter than 5 feet. She's crushed records left and right and is one of only two female rappers to have at least 3 platinum albums.

AnnaSophia Robb

Height: 5'0"

AnnaSophia Robb has grown up a lot since her role as Violet Beauregarde in Charlie and the Chocolate factory, though it doesn't look like she grew in height much since. The 21-year-old Carrie Diaries actress comes in at 5 feet even.

Ariana Grande

Height: 5'0"

From Nickelodeon star to pop sensation, Ariana Grande has had quite the career for a 21-year-old. The Grammy Award-nominated singer/actress has become known for her babydoll image, which after learning her height, seems even more fitting.

Kourtney Kardashian

Height: 5'0"

Kourtney Kardashian may be the eldest of the Kardashian sisters, but she comes in at the shortest too. There's a 6 year difference between Kourtney and youngest Kardashian sister Khloe, yet almost a whole foot (10 inches) separating the two in height.

Hayden Panettiere

Height: 5'0"

Hayden Panettiere has had many memorable roles throughout her acting career, particularly as a superhuman cheerleader in Heroes. The actress' height has never been a problem for her, and she even met her 6'6" husband because of it, telling Ellen DeGeneres, that the two bonded over their extreme size difference.

Danny DeVito

Height: 5'0"

It's far more common to see female celebrities under the 5 foot mark, but that never stopped Danny DeVito. The funny 5-foot actor probably has his small stature to thank for snagging roles such as The Penguin in Batman Returns.

Jada Pinkett Smith

Height: 5'0"

Jada Pinkett Smith has been incredibly impressive as the sadistic gangster boss Fish Mooney in Gotham. It's hard to tell that the actress is so tiny, coming in at 5 feet even. Her height is most apparent when she's standing aside her 6'2" husband, Will Smith.

Rick Moranis

Height: 5'1"

Though we haven't seen much of Rick Moranis lately, he'll always be remembered for his roles in major Hollywood films such as Ghostbusters, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, Spaceballs, Little Shop of Horrors and more. And even though Moranis looked small in most of these films, it was hard to tell that the actor was only 5'1" (Note: Conflicting info, some sites say Moranis is 5'4", Google claims 5'1")

Kristen Bell

Watching Veronica Mars, it was never truly apparent how short Kristen Bell was. But, Bell's knack for embodying strong female protagonists allows her to grow far past her 5'1" height.

Reese Witherspoon

As a female lead in a number of rom-coms, Reese Witherspoon was always centered in a way that made it difficult to gauge how short she really was. The upcoming release of Hot Pursuit puts Witherspoon side-by-side with average-heighted Sofia Vergara, and the 6" height difference (along with the inches of Vergara's heels) make for quite the stark contrast.

While the world of animated movies has fully embraced movie stars taking over the majority of the roles, TV animation still adheres to voice actors that you probably wouldn't recognize if you saw them on the street. Why He/She’s So Awesome: Despite a strong early career in TV, Star Wars completely shifted how the world saw Mark Hamill, and he tried escaping that typecasting through live-action in the 1980s and early 1990s. But once he blew people’s minds as the Clown Prince of Crime, he never really looked back, voicing dozens upon dozens of various characters in the past 20 years, from children’s shows like Miles from Tomorrowland to more adult fare like Metalocalypse, even re-voicing his most famous roles for Robot Chicken.

Will Forte

Why He/She’s So Awesome: Will Forte is the ultimate everyman who presumably has dark forces happening beneath the surface, and his characters often showcase that. He made Clone High’s Abe Lincoln the epitome of love-torn teen angst, and continues delivering winning performances in shows such as Gravity Falls, Bob’s Burgers, and American Dad. Plus, he’s actually in The Awesomes, so that should explain it.

Aisha Tyler

Live Action Projects: Friends, 24, Ghost Whisperer

Animated Projects: Archer, The Boondocks, BoJack Horseman

Why He/She’s So Awesome: Aisha Tyler is a hilarious stand-up comic, a stellar talk show host, and a great actress in general. But she is as perfect as Lana Kane in Archer as H. Jon Benjamin is in the title role. So good, in fact, that I’d initially assumed that I must have heard her voicework in many other shows. But no, I haven’t, although I certainly hope that her multi-hyphenate career allows for more voice roles in the future.

Stephen Root

Live Action Projects: Office Space, NewsRadio, Justified

Animated Projects: King of the Hill, Adventure Time, Tripping the Rift

Why He/She’s So Awesome: I’m one of those people who thinks Bill was the most interesting character on King of the Hill, and so much of that came from Root’s “simple but not stupid” performance. Add to that his work as the Penguin on Batman: The Brave and the Bold, as Mildew on Dreamworks Dragons and as various characters on a growing list of recent animated series, and Root is slowly becoming just as important out of sight as he is on screen.

Kristen Schaal

Live Action Projects: Flight of the Conchords, The Last Man on Earth, 30 Rock

Animated Projects: Bob’s Burgers, BoJack Horseman, Gravity Falls

Why He/She’s So Awesome: One of comedy’s quirkier stand-up comics, Kristen Schaal has done so well with her work as the scrappy quasi-anarchist Louise on Bob’s Burgers that it’s almost impossible to see or hear her in anything else without wondering where her rabbit ears are. And there’s nothing wrong with that.

Phil LaMarr

Live Action Projects: MADtv, Pulp Fiction, Old Dogs

Animated Projects: Futurama, Samurai Jack, Family Guy

Why He/She’s So Awesome: It’s surprising that Phil LaMarr hasn’t done more live-action work over the years, given his excellent timing and character range. Though Futurama’s Hermes and Family Guy’s Ollie Williams are his most recognizable roles, LaMarr has been everyone from Dracula in The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy to Green Lantern in Justice League to Black Vulcan in Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law.

Why He/She’s So Awesome: Come on, it’s Hank freaking Azaria. Not even accounting for his always-enjoyable work on screens both big and small – Mystery Men for life – the ridiculously grand resume he’s accumulated with just Simpsons characters is enough to vault him into a pop culture hall of fame. Disco Stu, Duffman, Carl Carlson, Professor Frink, Apu, Chief Wiggum, Cletus, Moe. The list goes on.

Linda Cardellini

Why He/She’s So Awesome: It’s relatively impossible to nail down what kind of an actress Linda Cardellini is, as she can flip from heavily dramatic to truly ridiculous roles. The latter of which perfectly sums up her work as the emotionally fraught cloud-girl C.J. on Regular Show, the hyper-overachieving Megan Sparkles on Sanjay & Craig. and the laidback teen Wendy on Gravity Falls.

Seth Green

He’s branched out from the adult humor as well, voicing Leonardo on Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and A-Bomb on Disney XD’s Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.

Why He/She’s So Awesome: Phil Hartman was the consummate comedian, excellent in everything he starred in, even when it was hot garbage like Houseguest. His tragic death in 1998 meant that myriad potential future projects would never be, and the world would never again get to hear from The Simpsons lawyer Lionel Hutz or the hasbeen actor Troy McClure.

In the last 30 years or so, a major change has occurred in the world of animation. Rather than hiring voice actors for roles, studios have instead opted to go with major celebrities, hoping that their name recognition will help sell their movies to wider audiences. Sometimes this doesn’t work out so great, as many actors do little more than use their own natural speaking voice, but there are some important exceptions. There are a number of terrific live-action actors out there who actually excel at doing voice over work. And today we are giving them the recognition they deserve.

With Penguins of Madagascar in theaters this weekend, featuring the talents of Benedict Cumberbatch, John Malkovich, and more, we’ve decided to highlight a select group of great live-action stars who have proven that they don’t need to show their face to put on a special, different kind of performance. Who made the cut? Read on to find out!

Robin Williams

The loss of Robin Williams this year is still heavy in our hearts and a painful loss – but just because the man has passed on doesn’t mean we’re not going to take the opportunity to celebrate the amazing work he did as a voice actor. Few performers are able to truly transfer all of their energy and personality for a role in an animated movie, and this is once again another instance where Williams can be described with the word "incomparable." The actor was certainly more prolific as a live-action actor, but audiences will not soon be forgetting his parts in Fern Gully: The Last Rainforest, Happy Feet and, of course, Aladdin. For the most part, he didn’t exactly go out of his way to disguise his voice, but that in no way undercuts his spectacular performances.

Seth Green

Seth Green came up through Hollywood as a child actor, making his first professional performance when he was just 10 years old. Fans will forever remember him as there werewolf-cursed Oz on Buffy The Vampire Slayer or as the petulant Scott Evil in the Austin Powers movies, but in recent years the redheaded actor has actually been even more committed to his voice work than live action. Not only has he been voicing Chris Griffin on Family Guy for about 15 years, but he’s also a creator of Adult Swim’s Robot Chicken and has managed to learn how to completely disguise his voice. Case in point: did you know that he was the voice of Howard The Duck in Guardians of the Galaxy?

Stephen Root

It should be little surprise that character actors often make great voice actors, as there are few in the business who are better at completely disappearing into their roles. Stephen Root is perhaps the most perfect example of this. While the actor is best known for his live action work – splitting his time between television and film – his voice-only performances rank s some of his best turns. He has been doing it for years and has a wide array of credits on his resume, from the animated Justice League series to episodes of Adventure Time, but perhaps his most notable credit is as sad sack Bill Dauterive from the long running King of the Hill.

Mark Hamill

Mark Hamill earned his way into our hearts a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away with his legendary performances as Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars films, and while there’s a very good chance that it’s the role he’ll forever be remembered for, his work as a voice actor will likely never be forgotten either. After all, his version of The Joker from Batman: The Animated Series is easily one of the most iconic incarnations of the character. He has far too many titles on his to list here, but it’s a credit to his work that you’ve probably seen a surprising number of his performances without actually recognizing his presence.

Vin Diesel

There are probably few people out there who would identify Vin Diesel as one of the best actors of his generation, as the Fast and Furious movies and Riddick aren’t exactly Oscar-caliber works, but the man deserves all the credit in the world for the two feature film voice roles on his resume. Not only did he make us all cry at the start of his career with his turn as the titular metal behemoth in the great The Iron Giant, but just this past summer he was able to express and emote to a shocking degree while only uttering a total of five words playing Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy. These aren’t exactly the most complex roles out there, but Diesel truly knocked both out of the park – to the point where it’s hard to imagine any other voice doing the parts.

Truly palpable love for the small, furry, constantly-annoyed Rocket Raccoon broke out this past summer with the release of James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy, but the truth is that Marvel has been spending years getting audiences ready for this characters. Over the last couple of years, Rocket went from being a relative nobody in the Marvel universe to being featured in all kinds of video games and animated shows – all to get fans aware and pumped for his big screen debut. In that time, Marvel hired a number of truly talented performers to bring him to life, and while all of you know who Bradley Cooper is, you may be surprised by who else has done it.

Since 2011, fans who have been following along with Marvel’s every move has seen many different interpretations of Rocket, with each actor taking a look at the character, seeing something different, and providing him with different accents and attitudes. But who exactly are these guys? We’ve taken it upon ourselves to break it down for you below.

Greg Ellis

While Bradley Cooper is the most well-known of the actors who have voiced Rocket, Greg Ellis has the distinction of being the first to do so. Creating a cockney version of the Guardians team member, Ellis most recently played him on a 2012 episode of the animated show The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, but he first brought life to the diminutive hero in the video game Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds back in 2011. In addition to his voice acting credits, a list that includes titles like Batman: Brave and the Bold and Star Wars: Rebels, Ellis is also a live-action actor who will very soon be seen on the new season of the rebooted Hawaii Five-0.

Seth Green

Seth Green, who fans will recognize from a variety of projects ranging from Buffy The Vampire Slayer to Family Guy to Robot Chicken, has actually voiced Rocket in two different shows. In addition to an episode of Marvel’s Avengers Assemble that aired earlier this year, Green also put his vocal talents to work playing the character in Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.. As an added bit of fun trivia, it’s also worth noting that Green was actually featured in Guardians of the Galaxy - he was the voice of Howard the Duck in the end credits.

Billy West

There is only one place where you can hear Billy West’s interpretation of Rocket Raccoon, and that’s in an episode of Ultimate Spider-Man called simply "Guardians of the Galaxy," but it’s still pretty cool given that West is one of the best voce-actors of all time. Today he’s probably best known for his work on Futurama playing both Phillip J. Fry and Professor Farnsworth, but he has nearly 200 credits on his resume – including the great Ren and Stimpy. (It should be noted that actor Trevor Devall recently did the voice of Rocket on an episode of Ultimate Spider-Man called "The Return of the Guardians of the Galaxy")

John DiMaggio

Billy West isn’t the only Futurama star to take a crack at voicing Rocket, as Bender himself has given it a go as well – albeit in video game form instead of animation. Veteran voice-actor John DiMaggio jumped into a recording booth last year to play the furry badass in Lego Marvel Super Heroes (a game that also featured him as J. Jonah Jameson, Kingpin, Thanos, Odin, Ronan The Accuser, and more). His connection with Marvel doesn’t end there either, as he has also been a part of Marvel's Avengers Assemble, Ultimate Spider-Man, Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. and many more animated titles over the years.

Steve Blum

Steve Blum is credited with voicing Rocket in the 2013 video game Marvel Heroes - where he also played Wolverine, M. Sinister, Taskmaster and Sauron (like DiMaggio, he’s clearly a pretty good multitasker). Doing voice work since 1981, Blum has more than 500 titles on his resume and he’s still less than 50 years old. Some of you will be familiar with him from his part on the show The Legend of Korra, but those of you who go see The Boxtrolls this weekend will hear him as the "voices" of the trolls known as Shoe and Sparky.

Bradley Cooper

Bradley Cooper is the name most of you will recognize, both because his version of Rocket is the most popular iteration of the character, and because he is an A-list movie star. He’s obviously much better known for his live-action work, but what may actually surprise you is that Guardians of the Galaxy was the first time he has done a voice role. After his performance, I imagine a lot more offers could come rolling in for him.

Here's one for the Seth MacFarlane fans. Or Seth Green fans. (Or both). Fox may not offer much in the way of multi-camera comedies these days, but the network has no shortage of MacFarlane. So it should be interesting to see how Dads does on Tuesday nights, paired with fellow newcomer Brooklyn Nine-Nine. As the trailer reveals, this new comedy, which comes from Ted team Seth MacFarlane, Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild, focuses on the relationship two guys have with their fathers.

Eli (Seth Green) and Warner (Giovanni Ribisi) are two childhood friends, now in their thirties and running a successful video game company, though the two are very different in personality and lifestyle. Warner's married with kids, Eli's been stoned since college. But they two presumably have a solid working relationship, not to mention a history of close friendship, which is almost like a marriage. Their lives are thrown for a loop when their fathers, played by Martin Mull and Peter Riegert, move in with them.

The jury's out for me on this one. On one hand, I love Seth Green, Giovani Ribisi and Brenda Song, and I loved Ted. On the other hand, I'm not sold by the trailer, so I'm reserving full judgment until I see the pilot. MacFarlane certainly has an audience at Fox, so it'll be interesting to see how this one does when it airs on Tuesday nights on Fox this fall.

It's only been a month since we listed Seth Green as one of ten 90s TV stars we wanted to see back in a starring role and it looks like somebody at Fox was listening. Obviously, the actor never really left the small screen, whether it was providing several voices for Robot Chicken and Seth MacFarlance's Family Guy or popping up in guests spots like last year's reunion on How I Met Your Mother, but it's not the same as this new sitcom gig which puts the former Buffy The Vampire Slayer regular front and center.

THR recently announced that Green has been cast in Dads, Fox's upcoming sitcom from executive producer MacFarlane and written by Family Guy and Ted writers Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild. The network clearly has a lot of faith in the new series quickly turning the pilot commitment into a six episode order even before putting the the voice of Chris Griffin (and one of the best Woody Allens) in the lead role. Well, co-lead since Green will be playing one of two friends whose fathers suddenly move in with them.

The multicamera comedy is about a couple of successful thirty-somethings video game entrepreneurs, Green's Eli and The Mindy Project's Tommy Dewey as Warner, burdened by the abrupt arrival of their titular Dads, played by Peter Riegert and Martin Mull respectively. Rounding out the cast are Brenda Song and Tonita Castro, the former coming off a brief but enjoyable guest run on New Girl, the latter probably best known as Fausta on Go On. Green's great in everything, and it's great to see some good news go his way after his Star Wars animated sitcom Detours was delayed indefinitely. Too bad, it looked funny. This sounds good too.

With the premiere of Zero Hour airing on ABC tonight, ER star Anthony Edwards returns to a drama series in a starring role. It's the actor's first big TV role since ER, which prompted a bit of 90s nostalgia among some of us at TV Blend, after which, we had no trouble coming up with a list of beloved 90s TV stars that we'd love to see back on TV in a starring role.

We narrowed down our list with some basic criteria. Our ten picks are all actors who had a series regular role in a popular and successful 90s scripted TV show, and have not starred in a successful (more than one season) scripted, live-action TV show in the last ten years. So, while you may have seen (or heard) some of our picks on television in recent years, we're hoping to see them back as series regulars, either in a comedy or drama on television. We also tried to leave out actors that are on the rise in feature projects, like Michelle Williams or Joseph Gordon-Levitt, since the likelihood that they'll return to a starring role in television anytime soon probably isn't especially high, no matter how awesome it would be.

With the above in mind, here are ten 90s TV stars we'd love to see back on television in a starring role.

Jason Alexander

Even though, or perhaps because, they starred in one of the most successful sitcoms of all time, it has taken a lot of time for any of the Seinfeld cast to find purchase in their post show about nothing pursuits. Not for lack of trying. And Curb Your Enthusiasm doesn't count, no matter how funny they are were in various appearances. Michael Richards hit, uh, a more than a few bumps in the road as did Jason Alexander (very different bumps) and it took a few tries for Julia-Louis Dreyfus to findVeep, a truly great HBO comedy that allowed her to finally shake Elaine Benes.

Now, there probably is no return in sight for Richards but it's past time the former George Costanza found a series to showcase his comedic or dramatic skills. Since he's had such trouble getting a new sitcom off the ground in the years since Seinfeld, perhaps Alexander should choose a project that requires him to draw on his serious side, something like Kelsey Grammer's Boss. There must be a new cable show coming that could use a zombie survivor? Or a tough-talking cop or criminal in a period piece? Of course, It would be absolutely hilarious if he turned up as the as yet unseen president in Veep but looking for a true fresh start is probably the only way to go.

Neve Campbell

Neve Campbell was one of the best-known faces of the 90s, and she made a major entrance into our lives with her role on Party of Five. While some of of her castmates have continued on to successful starring roles on TV (notably Jennifer Love Hewitt and Matthew Fox), Neve Campbell fell off of the television map, and we want her back.

Campbell’s realistic portrayal of a teenage girl facing all the difficulties of being young while dealing with the death of her parents and the needs of her younger siblings won us over. She then threw off some of that good-girl image and made us see her differently in movies like Wild Things and The Craft. Since then she’s done a wide variety of film and guest roles including the recent mini-series Titanic: Blood and Steel, proving her acting ability and making us certain there’s a great adult role for her on TV today.

As an actress who made her biggest television impression as a teenager, Neve Campbell would be the perfect choice to take on a lead role as a mother in a drama now that she’s older. It would be almost the ideal full-circle television comeback – from the teenage orphan to a maternal role. She’d also do well in a thriller, perhaps something along the lines of American Horror Story, what with her horror flick background in the Scream films. Whatever she chooses, the time seems right for a Neve Campbell comeback on TV, and we are ready.

Chuck Norris

Chuck Norris has been the star of jokes and memes for the last decade, but he hasn’t been anywhere near the small screen. Which is a shame, because Chuck Norris wouldn’t be such a high profile name in pop culture without the small screen to back him and show the world his ability to kick-ass. The man may be 72 now, but let’s face it, he doesn’t look a day over 60, and he could definitely still headline a major television series, as long as it involved deadpanning one-liners and showing off unneeded martial arts moves.

Norris was the star of the beloved nineties series, Walker, Texas Ranger, which aired for eight seasons on CBS, ending its infamous run just a year after the turn of the century, in 2001. In the years since, the man has popped up in small roles in the movie realm, including an appearance in last year’s The Expendables. However, if he really wants to break back into the world of acting and do what he does best, we're sure a TV drama with an action bent would take him, but as we all know, Chuck doesn’t stumble into opportunities, he roundhouse kicks them into existence.

Gillian Anderson

The X-Files was one of the defining shows of the 90s, and its two stars are ingrained in the American consciousness as Mulder and Scully. But while David Duchovny has gone on to further television success with Californication, we’ve yet to see Gillian Anderson make a television comeback.

Gillian Anderson was masterful as the quietly brilliant, skeptical and yet ready to believe FBI agent who let Mulder be the off-the-wall, brave and yet vulnerable person he needed to be. Although Gillian has continued a steady albeit quiet career, she’s yet to take on another major American television role. Last year she starred in the BBC crime drama series The Fall, which had a five-episode straight to series order, but so far there’s been no second season announced and the series hasn’t made it to American audiences.

We would love to see Gillian return in a regular role on television, perhaps doing something that takes her outside of her well-known FBI agent character. Drama is easily her strong suit, and Dana Scully was both an FBI agent and a medical doctor, which makes her an obvious choice for either a procedural or a medical drama. But Gillian Anderson has done some great work in other areas as well, including the BBC’s Great Expectations mini-series - so a role in one of the period dramas that are growing in popularity would be one we’d love to see her take on. Either way, we would be happy to welcome Gillian Anderson back into our living rooms.

Seth Green

Seth Green played the role of the wolfish Oz for 40 episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer in the 90s, after which he went on to develop his career as a a voice actor, screenwriter and TV producer, with Adult Swim's Robot Chicken among his more notable and beloved creations. Amidst all that, he's done some acting, with a role in The Italian Job and voice-work in Family Guy among his credits. We even saw him reunite with Alyson Hannigan for a guest spot in How I Met Your Mother. Perhaps it was that recent appearance that had us craving more face-time for Green on television.

If not by taking a series regular role in a current show as he did when he joined Buffy, we'd love to see him starring in his own series. His sense of humor has been demonstrated time and again in film and television over the years, but we also know he knows how to handle drama. In fact, given the choice, we might prefer to see the Oz-like mildly funny side mixed with a more dramatic role for Green in a future series. But we'll take whatever we can get. And in the meantime, we have his voice and his humor to appreciate with Family Guy, Robot Chicken and his other projects.

Lacey Chabert

Like Seth Green, Lacey Chabert is another 90s star who does a lot of unseen but heard work in television, with voice-roles in Young Justice, Generator Rex and some early episodes of Family Guy (original Meg!). Unfortunately, we see less of the star on screen as we'd like. Her breakout role was that of Claudia Salinger on Party of Five. And she went on to show us her funny side in Not Another Teen Movie and steal scenes as Gretchen Wieners in Mean Girls. With her distinctly sweet and girlish voice, it's no surprise that she would get plenty of voice work, but why haven't we seen her starring in her own TV series?

Chabert is beautiful and funny, which should make her a prime candidate to star in her own sitcom. Perhaps something in the tone of New Girl, except instead of quirky and doe-eyed, Chabert's "Jess" would have a mean-girl streak in her with big hair full of secrets and a toaster-strudel-inventing father. Ok, we're essentially suggesting a Gretchen Wieners sitcom here - complete with Tina Fey behind the production and other smart writers who know how to write a great female character - but even if it's not directly tied to Chabert's Mean Girls' character, a show about a funny woman with an edge and an attitude would suit Chabert nicely.

Jerry Seinfeld

It’s been almost fifteen years since Seinfeld went off the air, and during that stretch, a whole lot has changed about the sitcom business. Laugh tracks and live studio audiences are now frowned upon by comedy purists and thanks to cable, our collective idea of what’s edgy has moved quite a bit. Given all that, it might sound like it would be difficult for Jerry Seinfeld to update his shtick for modern viewers, but the truth of the matter is he would be just as appealing as ever. In a way, that’s always been the comedian’s greatest strength. Like Bill Cosby, Seinfeld was and is one of the few funny-men just as accepted by comedy elitists as by the general public.

His take on the minutia of life is inventive and original, yet easygoing and familiar. The phrase “all-appealing” is normally used to slander shows that are generic enough to be blandly acceptable, but in the case of a handful of programs over the past few decades, the term meant exactly what it seemed to promise. A very high percentage of people thought Seinfeld was funny, whether they were seventeen-year-old soccer players or seventy-year-old Jewish grandmothers.

Thanks to successful stand-up tours and crazy syndication paychecks, Seinfeld doesn’t need to work, but for the sake of comedy and NBC’s Thursday night schedule, we hope he does anyway.

John Goodman

Not that he's having any trouble finding feature film work or the occasional recurring character on television, but it would be great to see John Goodman return to the small screen for a permanent position. The former father from Roseanne, the 90s sitcom where he was stuck, uh, paired with Roseanne Barr for nine seasons, has been busy starring in critically acclaimed work since the blue collar comedy ended its long run at ABC a decade and a half ago, including stand-out turns in cult favorite Community and Ben Affleck's (Best Picture hopeful) Argo.

And while it would be a shame to stop seeing him pop up in so many great supporting performances, totally worth it to have Goodman star in the right small screen project. Although he has shown himself more than capable in any and all genres with his many diverse roles since Dan Conner, the actor is at his very best delivering quick witted and quirky dialogue of the Coen Brothers, making something like the upcoming FX adaptation of Fargo obviously perfect for his potential return. The dark but humorous world where people speak funny and do despicable things is a great setting for Goodman to showcase all his talent. If not there, the next Harmon series (or Aaron Sorkin) will do fine.

Jonathan Taylor Thomas

Unlike plenty of childhood stars who were able to reinvent themselves just around the time of adulthood, Jonathan Taylor Thomas never made the big transition from childhood actor to adult heartthrob. The big downfall occurred when young JTT quit his big series, Home Improvement to focus on schoolwork. By chance or design, Thomas has never had another big television role.

Though the 31-year-old did act after Home Improvement, he hasn’t popped up in eight years or so. When you did see him on the small screen it was probably in that one episode of Smallville where he simultaneously dated the show’s two leading ladies, or an early episode of Veronica Mars, where he played an undercover law enforcer. Despite falling off the acting ledge, with the right project, he could be on top of the TV game, once more. All he would need is a witty writer willing to harken back to the nineties and bring up points of nostalgia along with a little snark. That may seem pretty specific, but, hey, we all know it’s working for Tim Allen in Last Man Standing. Seriously, Kevin Abbott, are you thinking about casting a new lead? One who has charm, a nice smile, and plenty of experience practicing little lion growls? We know just the man...

Will Smith

Of course, Will Smith is still active in the film industry, as well as in his kids' budding careers, but is a stretch to hope that the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star might make a TV comeback at some point in the near future? In addition to his rapping career, Smith's early claim to fame was playing the easy going and perpetually cool character Will, who moves from West Philadelphia (born and raised!) to live with his rich relatives in California. He's since gone on to be an action star, dabbling a bit in drama. Coming soon, we'll see him and his son Jaden starring side-by-side in the M. Knight Shyamalan-directed sci-fii thriller After Earth.

Smith also has a bunch of sequels rumored to be in the works, so his availability for a TV commitment might not be a realistic option in the near future, but the timing does feel right for the star's return to the small screen. The obvious suggestion might be a Fresh Prince sequel, similar to what's happening with Boy Meets World, with Will playing the Dad (maybe a move back to Philadelphia with his Bel-Air raised kids?). But we could also see him starring in a Revolution-style adventure-drama or something with a bigger story, fitting to Smith's bigger name and the films we've seen him do in recent years. Either way, a return to the small screen to follow up Smith's successful movie career over the last two decades or so would be very exciting.

Buffy's Oz and Willow back on screen together. It's kind of happening! And by kind of, I mean we will be seeing Seth Green and Alyson Hannigan back on TV together, as Green is set to guest star in an upcoming episode of CBS' How I Met Your Mother, in which Hannigan stars. From the sound of it, Green's character might not be the most likable guy.

Seth Green as someone unlikable?! Prove it, How I Met Your Mother. Until then, it's hard to picture. I even sort of loved him in his guest appearance as an antagonistic version of himself in Entourage. Then again, maybe that was because he was so funny, douchy or not. From the sound of it, Green's guest role in How I Met Your Mother will have him playing a weird guy with a fixation on Marshall and Lily. According to the show's Tweet, he's playing a "creep guy named Daryl":

TVLine got some more details on his role, stating that Green's Daryl LaCoutre considered Lily and Marshall his best friends back in college but they barely remember him. Apparently, Daryl still lives in their college town and is "creepily obsessed with having the new parents in his life."

In addition to loving the idea of seeing Green and Hannigan on screen together again, I'm also feeling especially hopeful that the story arc will involve one or two 90s-college flashbacks. That's often the case when something involving Ted, Lily and Marshall's college experience is involved. We'll find out later this season. It sounds like the episode's set to air December 10, though TVLine uses the word "tentatively" so that may not be set in stone just yet.

It's worth noting that Green and Jason Segel both appeared in Can't Hardly Wait, but the bigger connection (especially given how minimal Segel's role was in the 1998 film) is obviously Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Green won't be the first Buffy cast member to appear on How I Met Your Mother (Danny Strong, Tom Lenk and Hannigan's husband Alexis Denisof are among the Buffy cast members to previously guest star), but give how beloved Willow and Oz were as a couple, it's definitely an exciting bit of casting for those of us who loved Whedon's series. On that note, am I the only one who's now also hopeful that Amber Benson will make her way onto HIMYM at some point? Or am I just being greedy now?

Those crazy Robot Chicken guys are at it again. First they took on Star Wars, and now they will take on DC Comics’ superheroes for a new special to air on the Adult Swim block on Cartoon Network. How will Superman, Batman, and their friends handle the invasion of Robot Chicken? Will the Super Friends every be the same?

I’m trying to picture the two worlds colliding, but clearly don’t have the imagination of the good people over at Stoopid Buddy Studios, which produces Robot Chicken. Deadline reports that the special will air in the fall, and co-creator Seth Green is pretty excited about it. Green says he was “raised on DC Comics” and looks forward to bringing the Robot Chicken world into the “awesome world” of the Super Friends and the Legion of Doom.

On board to do voices for the special are (of course) Seth Green as Batman, Robin, and Aquaman, Paul Reubens voicing The Riddler, Neil Patrick Harris for Two-Face, Alfred Molina as Lex Luthor, Megan Fox voicing Lois Lane, Nathan Fllion as the Green Lantern, and Breckin Meyer as Superman.

This is the second geek-friendly special put on by the Robot Chicken team; they’ve already gone to a galaxy far, far away with their Star Wars special. That one earned them three Emmy nominations. Adult Swim has come a long way, and Robot Chicken has certainly come a lot further than I ever thought it would the first time I saw it. With DC’s Green Lantern recently on the big screen, DC’s heroes are hot again, and this special is sure to put them in their place.

It seems that Robot Chicken creators Seth Green and Matthew Senreich just can’t get enough stop-motion tomfoolery. After five seasons of using toys to spoof everything from Star Wars to My Little Pony on Cartoon Network's Robot Chicken, Green and Senreich are adding another show to their docket. According to THR, the duo are teaming up for a new YouTube series called Stoopid Monkey.

If you’re a Robot Chicken fan, that probably sounds familiar. Green and Senreich’s production company is called Stoopid Monkey Productions, and anybody’s who’s stuck around to the end of an RC episode has heard Seth Green’s irritated delivery of the name. (It’s also a Futurama reference.) So, what’s Stoopid Monkey’s Stoopid Monkey all about?

From the sound of things, Robot Chicken fans will feel right at home. Stoopid Monkey will feature a blend of live-action and stop-motion footage, and will focus on the adventures of an actual stupid monkey named Stoopid Monkey (voiced by Senreich), as well as his friends Biggie (v. Green) and QT (v. Hillary Bergen). Apparently the three main characters will be performed by real actors, who will then be digitally swapped out for stop-motion versions, resulting in a bizarre hybrid of the two styles. So, sort of like a cross between The Nightmare Before Christmas and Who Framed Roger Rabbit? I guess?

Two episodes of Stoopid Monkey will hit YouTube every Friday beginning this week and lasting for 10 weeks. You’ll be able to find the eps right here.

Robot Chicken and Family Guy have been engaged in a good-natured rivalry for several years over who can better parody the Star Wars franchise, and it's open to debate who's currently in the lead. Personally, I think Family Guy peaked early, whereas each of Robot Chicken's three Star Wars specials have offered at least several laughs at least as funny as the "Red Foxx standing by" montage. Granted, Robot Chicken is even more OCD than MacFarlane's shows, so they have an advantage simply because they throw so much stuff at the screen, some of it is bound to stick.

Either way, the latest volley in the war has received a home-video release date, with Warner Bros. slating Robot Chicken Star Wars III set to hit Blu-ray and DVD July 12th. It'll run you less than twenty bucks if you pay full price at $19.89, which ain't a bad deal at all. It's been nearly seven years since Robert Zemeckis made The Polar Express, the first film to be made entirely with motion capture characters. It's hard to argue that the technology isn't astounding, the style does still have one major problem: the uncanny valley. No matter how realistic the characters may get, humans will always be creeped out by things that appear to be human but aren't. Need proof that we still haven't gotten over that hurdle? Apple has posted the look at the film which was directed by Simon Wells with Zemeckis serving as producer. In the film, a young kid learns a hard lesson when his mom is abducted by martians who "plan to steal her mom-ness for their own young." The movie features the voice talents of Seth Green, Joan Cusack, and Dan Fogler.

“In a hierarchy every employee tends to rise to his level of incompetence.” That's the Peter Principal, a brilliant theorem of morose inevitability put forth by Dr. Laurence Peter. Usually applied to the world of business and commerce, the astute commentary holds just as much water in Hollywood as it does on Wall Street. Nearly every working actor is eventually promoted to a level of fame, artistic sophistication or mass appeal big budgetary which he is either entirely incapable or in better cases, not particularly suited to handle.

It's actually not quite the insult it makes itself out to be. Imagine your dream car. For the sake of argument, let's say it's a silver 2008 Phillip Seymour Hoffman. Now imagine driving it on vacation to Mexico City. It's possible. You certainly could drive it to Mexico City; you're probably better off driving that than a 1993 purple Corey Haim, but really, on the whole, it's the better call to drive the sweet '08 Silver Hoffman to the airport and fly jumbo first class 757 Tom Hanks straight into Mexico City. Said another way, the best mashed potatoes in the world can't replace overcooked turkey on Thanksgiving. That's no shot at mashed potatoes, they're delicious, you just can't make a habit out of exclusively eating mashed potatoes, regardless of what the Irish might tell you.

Sure, this list could be looked at as a condemnation, the sixteen souls who inhabit it as mere second fiddles, but slander or not, this penned celebration is a testament to how truly wonderful these men and women are at their respective games. Some of them may be pleased with their stations, others may want for something more, but when focused, all are capable of delivering Oscar-worthy supporting turns. The Rock may have denigrated millions in the late 90s by telling them to know their roles and shut their mouths, but maybe, just maybe, that's legitimately great advice. At least for a handful of movies, these men and women knew their roles, and because of that acceptance, because of that commitment to providing world-class support, their brilliant work is what we remember. Here's a look at sixteen working actors who shine brightest with third billing. They know their roles.

William H Macy

Best Supporting Roles: Pleasantville, Magnolia, Fargo, Boogie Nights, Mystery Men

In a business typically all about stylized beauty, William H. Macy has built a career playing the opposite. The assistant principals, the car salesmen, the second directors, the wannabe superheroes, the fathers who can't change with the times and the schmucks who just don't know any better. There's a loneliness to William H. Macy's best roles, a longing, sometimes for love, sometimes for respect, sometimes merely for acceptance, but always a longing, a begrudging sadness channeled from millions of trapped, disenchanted middle class eyes. It all feels so familiar, so recognizable.

We watch the beautiful, the damned, the virtuous and the powerful to escape; we watch the isolated, the disheartened, the awkward and the melancholic to smile as they want for something more out of life. It doesn't always have to be about winning or achieving something memorable; sometimes happiness, in and of itself, is a beautiful goal. Life is never over if you still have love to give. That's the maxim of Quiz Kid Donnie Smith, and that's the overarching message in the wonderful supporting work of William H. Macy.

Alec Baldwin

Best Supporting Roles: 30 Rock, The Departed, The Aviator

In his early days, Alec Baldwin was a character actor talent trapped in a leading man body. Cursed to be continually cast as some sort of low-rent George Clooney knockoff I'm convinced that at some point he simply started eating, in the hopes that he'd get fat enough to be asked to do something interesting. Alec Baldwin was too good to be the chiseled-chin, straight man. He was never cut out for it. While most actors start out as sidekicks and eventually work their way up to leading men, Baldwin started out at the top of the marquee and then at some point decided he'd have a lot more fun with third billing.

He's a natural talent as the perfect, preening, comedic sidekick and, much as I love The Shadow, he never should have done anything else. It's more than just comedy with Baldwin though, portly old age has revitalized his career and remade him into one of the most sought after stars in Hollywood. Not as a leading man, but as the guy who works in the office upstairs, the guy who tries to ruin Howard Hughes empire, or the police captain who sends cops out into the street to do the mayor's dirty work. It's where he's always belonged.

Ed Begley Jr.

Best Supporting Roles: Best In Show, Pineapple Express, For Your Consideration, A Mighty Wind

Probably best known to most of you Johnny-Come-Lately's as the pissed off father who tried to shoot Seth Rogan in Pineapple Express, Ed Begley Jr has been hammering out solid supporting roles since President Obama was in high school. Many of them can be castigated as feed-your-family projects, he had a six episode story arc on the original Battlestar Galactica for Christ's sake, but Ed Begley Jr has really come into his own as the frequently stoic, always hilarious straight man in many of the best comedies and dramas of the last decade.

He's the condescending hotel manager in Best In Show, the hairdresser/ other man in Six Feet Under, the rival business executive in Arrested Development. Movies and television shows need great actors and actresses to support the main characters, this list has outlined many of them, but sometimes, they need reliable talent to pop in and out. Ed Begley Jr is a popper. He's the master of the several episode arc, the most capable man in three minutes of screen time or less. He's a dabbler, never wearing out his welcome or leaving on the low note. Maybe that's why he has time for environmental activism and kicking ass on Celebrity Jeopardy.

Djimon Honsou

Best Supporting Roles: Gladiator, Blood Diamond, Amistad, In America

Nearly every time I have watched Djimon Hounsou act, I have felt as if I was smack dab in the middle of an Aesop fable. “I am not your partner!”(Blood Diamond)- Every man for himself (the three tradesmen). See where I'm going with this? The nature of most of his films lends his characters to being men who are unfailingly moral in tough situations. And that's great, because it allows an actor to work in interesting movies, but it also only gives them a chance to play one note. Holed up in a corner, if you will, they must take paycheck roles like Joe in Beauty Shop and stay in the public limelight through dating “I am anorexic” Kimora Lee. Then I saw In America, and realized that there was more to Hounsou than being a great one-note actor. In America finds Hounsou with spark, wit… and complication. It's like flipping over (insert great song or first side of album) for the first time only to discover (insert great song from other side) was waiting on the other side all along. Sounds like a wolf in sheep's clothing to me.

Marisa Tomei

Best Supporting Roles: My Cousin Vinny, In The Bedroom, The Wrestler, Before The Devil Knows You're Dead

Perhaps never has a three-time Oscar-nominee been more maligned by the critics than Marisa Tomei. All-around douche bag Rex Reed once famously quipped Jack Palance must have read the wrong name when he opened her Oscar-winning envelope for My Cousin Vinny. She had to be playing herself. It all felt so genuine, like she and Joe Pesci hired writers to contrive a screenplay out of their personalities, but then along came In The Bedroom and recently, The Wrestler, two more worthy nominations for dissenting women with little in common. Like Bill Murray, she's carved out a niche playing emotionally-closeted, misanthropic middle-aged drifters, a wonderful counterbalance to her early tour-de-force look-at-me comedies. I love Marisa Tomei, she smiles and laughs like an A-list actress but sneers and cries like a seasoned character actor. I wonder how her biological clock feels about that.

John C. Reilly

Best Supporting Roles: Chicago, Boogie Nights, Magnolia, Talladega Nights, Step-Brothers

Just like his less than infamous character Dale Doback, John C. Reilly is here to fuck shit up. John C. Reilly is a monolithic man, a chameleon of acting genres, a master of his craft…. While he's played the lead in films like Cirque Du Freak and Walk Hard, he's best when he's sharing a camera and wearing Chewbacca masks. Reilly slides seamlessly between historical biopics, musicals, comedies and dramas. He's a crooked cop, a best friend, a Stepbrother, a funny hunny—a Mr. Cellophane. So, here's the question, in which genre is he most suitable? “O.K. here's the shot out of the cannon… you gotta fuck one, marry one, kill one, go!” Just be careful because so help you God, if your answer ends up costing me Boogie Nights, my boyfriend's balls are going on your drum set.

Melanie Lynskey

Best Supporting Roles: Detroit Rock City, Up In The Air, Flags of Our Fathers, Away We Go, Helena From the Wedding

You know that chick who plays the friend who gives Piper Perabo that money in Coyote Ugly that later gets stolen out of the freezer? The same woman who brings the baby into the bar in Sweet Home Alabama? Most notably for anyone who actually watched Sputnik, she's the next-door neighbor in Two and a Half Men who shamelessly stalks Charlie Sheen's character. Same page? It's a shame these reference points need to be tossed out to get to some of Lynskey's roles that actually matter, most recently Up In The Air and Away We Go. In Up in the Air, Lynskey plays a soon-to-be married young woman dealing with keeping her family together on the eve of her wedding. In Away We Go, she plays a married woman who has adopted many beautiful children, but is tinged with sadness because she cannot have children of her own. A lot of people didn't see these movies. If you have, you've been privy to the pancake house, the lonely pole dance, the fatherless walk down the aisle. To see her is to think: “wow, that girl was pretty good. I wish she had a bit bigger of a part.” She's never going to be the woman to carry a whole movie, but it would be nice to see her get the acting credit she deserves.

Seth Green

Best Supporting Roles: The Italian Job, Austin Powers: International Man Of Mystery, Party Monster, Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Here's the thing you need to know about Seth Green: we could talk about how he invented Napster in The Italian Job, got all angsty in Austin Powers and was the same level of solid in everything he's ever decided to do, but the real prize here is how he made the movie Sex Drive passable. Not even passable. Fairly funny. Not knocking on James Marsden or Clark Duke here (well maybe James Marsden), but that movie would be terrible without Seth Green. With his prowess, that movie almost made enough money to make back the budget costs.

Seth Green's the guy we need in there for a few scenes every movie, cleaning shit up, comedically speaking. Should he deserve to be on this list, next to the likes of Joe Pesci and Paul Giamatti? Debatable. All I'm saying is, you couldn't use the likes of Joe Pesci and Paul Giamatti the way you can use Seth Green. The man always plays Seth Green, but his shtick is so affable, he becomes super useful. (Seth Green could be Damian in Mean Girls: I want my pink shirt back. He could be Stanley Tucci in Devil Wears Prada—Gird your loins. See?) He may not be the best lead, but he is the John Cusack of support acting.

Steve Buscemi

Best Supporting Roles: The Big Lebowski, Reservoir Dogs, Con Air, The Island, Fargo, Ghost World

You know how people with soft features and bland hair are often described as mousy? Steve Buscemi doesn't look mousy, he looks almost ratty, and by this count, it could be argued he shouldn't be a movie star. He seems ill-placed in a sea of fake body parts and charming smiles. But the best thing (probably) about being a great supporting actor is that you get to be a character actor, and there is something so eerily charming, so daringly weird about Steve Buscemi, an audience is drawn to him in the same way an audience is drawn to a Tim Burton film. But that first drawing in is only part of it. Because Steve Buscemi the downtrodden, Steve Buscemi the Man, Steve Buscemi the fragile guy the loser the sardonic outcast, the guy who kind of doesn't always get it always, always has the same matter of fact smirk to let us know he's still in there somewhere, outperforming the A-list with his ratty greatness.

Paul Giamatti

Best Supporting Roles: Cinderella Man, Safe Men, Shoot Em Up, Fred Claus

I have no idea what Paul Giamatti is like in real life. He might be a redneck or a biker or a desperate groupie, but let's be honest, he's not any of those things. I don't need to know him to know at least part of his overeducated curmudgeon persona has to be real. So powerful is his disapproving sneer, I preemptively pick out things for him to complain about. It doesn't matter the role, really. They're drinking merlot? Miles is not going to be pleased. Howard Stern said what yesterday? Oh Pig Vomit'll be pissed. They want James J. Braddock to fight whom? His manager will have something to say about that.

Whether it be Bob Zmuda from Man On The Moon or Veal Chop from Safe Men, Paul Giamatti's characters always look at the world through disapproving eyes; yet, we find reasons to root for many of them, or at least explain away their foibles. Harvey Pekar just wants a little respect, and John Adams just wants a little recognition for his hard work and Saint Nick, well, he just wants to keep on with his whole presents thing. Paul Giamatti would be the asshole to play Santa Clause as a tired mumbler. That has to be list worthy, right?

Morgan Freeman

Best Supporting Roles: Shawshank Redemption, Million Dollar Baby, Glory, The Dark Knight

Morgan Freeman is the greatest other dude in the history of cinema. Even in the films where he's technically the main character, he's still remembered as the other bloke. He's Andy's friend in The Shawshank Redemption. He's the other cop in Se7en. I haven't seen The Bucket List, but I'd throw down a few sawbucks and bet he's more Jack Nicholson's friend than the other way around. Mind you, this whole second banana business is a compliment. You see, the main guy, the lead character, he's always up to some shit. He's fighting off the sodomites in a prison bathroom or dressing in black to save Gotham City. Morgan Freeman's definitely not that dude. He's the brains, the guy behind the guy, the epicenter of real power and influence. Blasphemic rhetoric aside, he's God, at least when playing a sketchy head assassin, Nelson Mandela, or God.

JK Simmons

Best Supporting Roles: Spider-Man, Juno, Up in the Air, Extract, Party Down

Whether he's screaming for pictures of Spider-Man or driving Juno to planned parenthood, JK Simmons has a talent for being that guy you know, only better. Give him a line of dialogue and he'll deliver it like his tongue's on fire. Give him a thankless character and he'll invariably steal every single, crappily written scene he's plopped down in. He's the dad you've always wanted, the boss you've always feared, the incompetent secret agent who screws things up for everyone else and still manages to get a laugh while he's doing it. JK Simmons takes comedy seriously and makes drama seem easy. He's effortless. The guy you want delivering your movie's most important life lesson, the dude you want screaming at the top of his lungs whenever your movie's short on tension. JK Simmons makes anything better. Give him a cigar and he'll light your scene on fire.

Jeff Daniels

Best Supporting Roles: The Squid And The Whale, Pleasantville, The Lookout, Away We Go

Jeff Daniels sells stupid, ill-advised decisions better than any other actor working today. Sure, it may not be the sexiest skill on the acting block, but to consistently, over-and-over again, make me, as a viewer say, “that fucking moron would…”, well, that has to be a skill, at least in the same way as Justin Bieber's hair flip or David Koechner's whammy noise. Actually, it's better than those one-dimensional, for-any-situation faux-talents. Jeff Daniels can sell the shit out of the high-class stupid decision, the low-class stupid decision, I'm sure if you gave him a chance, he could have sold you on BP dumping eight million gallons of black gold into the Atlantic.

Take high class. In The Squid And The Whale, he fires his literary agent for making a disparaging remark about the Knicks at a party. “Said they played like thugs.” Fucking moron, he would. Take low class. In Dumb & Dumber, he follows his idiot best friend across the country to find a woman without checking to see if they knew her name. “Maybe it's on her briefcase!” No, Jeff, it's not Samsonite. Whether the character is a high-class, arrogant buffoon or a low-class, ignorant simpleton, Jeff Daniels commits, he invests in the incompetent, foolhardy natures of those he chooses to play, and in doing so, creates real people we can't help but root for as they stumble through misadventures.

Catherine Keener

Best Supporting Roles: Capote, Being John Malkovich, The 40 Year Old Virgin, Your Friends And Neighbors

There's a fragility to Catherine Keener's best roles which often gets lost amidst her harsh exterior. She's the woman who's seen it all, done most and regretted more than a few, gradually shrouding herself in defensive, impenetrable layers. She doesn't think herself a prize to win or a treasure to cherish; she's merely a woman more focused on riding out the waves than dreaming naïve girlish fantasies. In The 40-Year Old Virgin and Capote, we see these layers slowly unravel; in Being John Malkovich and Your Friends And Neighbors, we see these layers fortify. You've got to work for the love, for the trust, for the affection of a woman like Catherine Keener because “she breaks just like a little girl…”. That's what Bob Dylan would have said, but I'm sure Max's mother in Where The Wild Things Are wouldn't have even bothered to question it.

Joe Pesci

Best Supporting Roles: Raging Bull, Goodfellas, Home Alone, Lethal Weapon 2

Arguably more than any other ethnic subgroup, the Italians, the Romans, have seen their culture's history played out, praised, maligned, castigated and worshiped, sometimes within the confines of a single decade. What does it mean to be an Italian? An Italian-American? I don't know. A thousand people would probably give a thousand different answers, but Joe Pesci, that son of a bitch, he knows. And believe it or not, that all-knowing Italianism has little to do with his mob movies. It's the swagger, the walk, the I-don't-care-who-the-fuck-you-are and who-the-fuck-are-you-exactly persona. I don't have that. I'm sitting behind a computer typing an article, meanwhile a Joe Pesci character is out trolling the streets for uncollected gambling debts and probably simmering an awesome pasta sauce. Is that racist? I don't really care; it's awesome and it's the reason I own more than ten Joe Pesci flicks.

Tim Curry

We're cheating a little here because Tim Curry hasn't done anything even remotely relevant since Kinsey back in 2004. So he's our wild card, the 16th man. But he's in Burke & Hare which comes out later this year and if there's a god, then that means he's poised for comeback. Curry's the kind of unbelievable talent who deserves throngs of adoring fans outside his house throwing roses and begging for an appearance. He should be treated like the pope, because nobody does it better than Curry. He's the oily salesman, the innocent but brilliant butler, the mysterious villain, the untrustworthy colleague. He's danced around wearing a teddy, he's sneered and connived with the best of them. He's a villain when it's called for and the leader of an ensemble whenever it needs one.

There's nothing Tim Curry can't do, there's nothing he hasn't made better simply by showing up on screen and staring straight into the camera. When he speaks, it's liquid gold. He doesn't need to be a leading man, he's comfortable there on the fringes; pulling the strings, foiling your plans, ten steps ahead of you and six floors above. He doesn't need top billing, he doesn't need your accolades or your attention. Like the Mounties he always gets his man and frankly Scarlett he doesn't give a damn. Communism was just a red herring, Tim Curry's a star wherever he goes.

A few weeks ago Seth Green and others announced that they’re working on an animated, Star Wars comedy series for Lucasfilm. Details, other than that it’ll be a comedy, have been sparse. But today IGN uncovered a couple of clues which indicate that it may actually be a sequel to Return of the Jedi. Unfortunately I don’t think it’s the sequel we’ve always wanted.

During a Q&A session, Lucasfilm Director of Fan Relations Steve Sansweet received this comment from a fan: “I would really love to see new adventures after Jedi with our favorite characters Luke, Han and Leia.” His response? “And you will, in the new animation.” So it looks like Han, Leia, Chewie, Luke, and everyone else are returning, which has to mean the new show is set after Return of the Jedi. The only thing is the show will be in the same format used by the Clone Wars cartoons and if it's the show being worked on by Seth Green that he's talking about, it'll be a comedy.

I’ve been waiting my entire life for a Return of the Jedi sequel and instead I got the prequels and now Lucas is mocking me by actually delivering a sequel and turning into some sort of wacky, cartoon comedy. Anyone else feel like they’re being Jar Jar’d?

As if to rub salt in the wound, Best Of Luck Productions offers this further revelation, reported from other comments made by Sansweet: “there was one ominous thing he said though... not everyone who dies in sci-fi stays dead. He continued by stating we'll see what he means in 3 to 4 years.” Does this mean more Anakin? Noooooooo!

Today BioWare announced the voice acting cast for Mass Effect 2. The numerous TV/film actors lending their voice include Martin Sheen, Michael Dorn, and Tricia Helfer.
