The Marvel Cinematic Universe is always growing, thanks to new projects arriving in theaters and streaming with a Disney+ subscription. As such, fans are constantly wondering about upcoming Marvel movies, and hoping to see their favorite characters appear. For years now fans have been waiting for Spider-Man Miles Morales to join the MCU, and Kevin Feige finally revealed when we should expect that to happen.

Fans who have been watching the Marvel movies in order have likely seen the online discourse about Miles Morales. The character has been gaining a ton of popularity in recent years, thanks to the Spider-Man PlayStation games as well as the Spider-Verse franchise. During a conversation with China's Watching Hollywood (via Deadline), Feige spoke about bringing Miles to the shared universe, offering:

Do you hear that? It's countless Marvel fans cheering. Because not only does Kevin Feige seemingly want to bring Miles Morales into the MCU, but he's got a timeline. Namely, after the animated Spider-Verse franchise ends and the character is freed up to appear in the live-action Spider-Man movies.

This timeline makes a ton of sense, as Chris Miller and Phil Lord's animated Spider-Verse movies have been an Oscar-winning success. So Feige and company have to wait until that story is finished before finding a way to bring Miles to life in live-action. Still, the fact that it's going to happen one day is thrilling.

Fans aren't the only ones who have been calling for the web-slinger to join the MCU. Tom Holland himself wants to bring Miles Morales into the fold, possibly with his Peter Parker serving as a mentor the way that Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark did for him earlier in the shared universe.

In the comics, Miles Morales in a teenager who ends up (you guessed it) bitten by a spider that gives him superpowers. But his abilities are different from the traditional Spider-Man, including invisibility and bio-electric manipulation. Both the Spider-Verse movies and the Sony video games have shown him as a partner to Peter Parker, with the older hero helping to guide him as he becomes a vigilante in New York City. Folks are ready to see this dynamic play out in live-action, although we'll have to wait for the animated franchise to conclude first.

Tom Holland's Spider-Man will return to the big screen when Brand New Day arrives on July 31st as part of the 2026 movie release list. As for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, that animated blockbuster will hit theaters June 18th, 2027.

Just when you think Zendaya’s method dressing can’t get any more iconic, she somehow manages to up her game. We’re a week out from Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s debut on the 2026 movie calendar, and not only did the MJ portrayer don another great dress with nods to the upcoming MCU flick at the premiere in Shanghai, China — she showed off her new microbangs to take the look over the top.

Zendaya has been absolutely slaying with her looks while promoting The Odyssey — going full goddess mode in dresses that reference her character Athena — as well as her outfits for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Attending the Chinese premiere for the Marvel movie, the actress donned a webby Versace dress, but it was her hairstyle that really made a statement:

I mean, we’ve heard of breakup bangs, but newlywed bangs may be a creation unique to Zendaya after marrying her Spider-Man co-star Tom Holland. The baby bangs are jaggedly cut, with the rest of her long, brown hair straightened to fall down her back for a very sleek look.

The haircut provided an edgy complement to the vintage couture 2016 Versace gown, which was a tasteful take on the naked dress. Zendaya showed a lot of skin, thanks to the dress’ open weave, but white fabric draped across her body and down to the floor in a look that also had an air of Athena to it.

The bangs are definitely a new (and I’d say welcome) addition to her Spider-Man: Brand New Day press looks. Zendaya chopped off all her hair after filming Euphoria’s final season and Dune: Part Three, flirting with a pixie look in an open-backed spiderweb gown at an earlier appearance. She also featured the cutest short ‘do in a sparkly red-and-blue number that showed off her abs.

Her long hair returned, however, when she started donning ethereal gowns ahead of The Odyssey’s release, with messy curls adding the most perfect touch to that gorgeous winged dress. A loose braid was added to another look that featured a sculpted corset and beaded fringe, with her long curls cascading down her back.

If Zendaya’s goal with her method dressing is to get us excited about Spider-Man: Brand New Day, it’s definitely working (and I’m also starting to wonder how I might look with microbangs, if I’m being honest). There’s so much hype surrounding the summer blockbuster, with Tom Holland toppling one rumor and his wife mercifully keeping him from spoiling the ending.

Meanwhile, Sadie Sink has had an easier time keeping those Marvel secrets, as we still don’t know which character she’s playing. There’s a reason that Sink’s role has been kept secret, and while she is straight up trolling Spider-Man fans at this point, we haven’t seen her following in Zendaya’s footsteps to drop hints with her fashion. (What DID all those black outfits mean?!)

Fans who have spent years watching the Marvel movies in order have been not-so-patiently waiting to see how Tom Holland's hero was doing now that he's basically alone in the world. Brand New Day's trailer showed a glimpse of this, but in an interview with IndieWire, Cretton was asked a simple question: is Peter's picture still in his yearbook? The Shang-Chi filmmaker responded with:

It sounds like the team behind the new Spider-Man movie had some debate about whether or not photos of Peter Parker are still out there in the world of the MCU. Destin Daniel Cretton's ultimate answer is that yes, the web-slinger's image would still be in places like this yearbook... even if no one retained any memories of his years at Midtown School of Science and Technology.

Later in the same interview, Cretton went on to share how much the photo question actually influenced the way Brand New Day was shot. He purposefully didn't include any of them in the movie thanks to the questions they might inspire from the audience. In his words:

Maybe it's better that fans don't think too hard about how Doctor Strange's memory-erasing spell actually works. Rather than getting in the weeds about it all, perhaps we should just watch Brand New Day and focus on the fact that Peter Parker's loved ones no longer remember him. Holland's hero was shown monitoring MJ and Ned from afar in the trailer, which you can see below:

This new blockbuster is set four years after No Way Home, which is a long time for Spider-Man to be living in solitude. He clearly misses Ned and MJ, and additional trailers have confirmed that he'll eventually step in to protect the latter from an unknown villain. And it should be fascinating to see if Zendaya's character ends up remembering her relationship with Peter, or if they have to start fresh. Either way, the truth about Strange's spell is bound to come out sooner or later.

All will be revealed when Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters on July 31st as part of the 2026 movie release list. Luckily for us, the wait for that long-awaited blockbuster is nearly over. Just don't look for any photos during its runtime.

One of the biggest questions related to any upcoming Marvel movies revolves around Sadie Sink’s mysteriously unspecified new role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which the stars have been keen to troll fans over. The two biggest theories have her playing either Spidey’s comic love interest Gwen Stacey, which seems fitting, or the all-powerful Jean Grey. (With a third avenue being that she’s actually one of the film’s many villains.)

Now, it appears we can remove the mutant telepath from the rumor mill, as Spidey portrayer Tom Holland himself has shut down the notion that Jean Grey will be in Brand New Day at all. In an interview with Natalia Kreuser (via Instagram), the actor was asked point-blank about the X-Men heroine, and he didn’t even craftily attempt to beat around the bush with his answer. As he put it:

There you have it, sports fans. Tom Holland, one of the crown kings of MCU spoilers, has seemingly confirmed that Jean Grey will NOT show up during the runtime of Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

As awesome as it would genuinely be for the MCU's revamped Jean Grey to appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, it seemingly doesn't make that much sense for these characters' timelines, given the all-around lack of confirmed mutants on this Earth. That will all change with Avengers: Doomsday, which Kevin Feige pretty much explained will wipe out the timeline for Fox's X-Men characters, and then a new lineup of character will rise up to take their places for Secret Wars and beyond.

As such, it would be bizarre for the first new mutant to show up in this movie, five months before Doomsday hits. theaters, right? I think so, unless her arrival plays directly into how the storyline flips things around to set-up Spidey's eventual return in an Avengers sequel. But that just seems too messy for a movie that already has a dozen supporting characters. (O.G. Jean Grey Famke Janssen reportedly isn't in Doomsday, but I'm not sure that necessarily means anything about

Another reason I think we can hopefully trust Tom Holland here is because he's become so known for blabbing about details that others may have kept closer to the vest. And him shutting down rumors about a character's appearance is a more forgivable spoiler than if he'd come out and said exactly who Sink is playing. It's like Marvel producers gave him an olive branch by allowing him to say this one thing.

After much uncertainty (and plenty of A.I-generated wedding photos), it’s finally been confirmed that Tom Holland and Zendaya are indeed man and wife. Holland confirmed that earlier this summer when he admitted that even his grandmother was confused by the A.I. pics. Even more recently, the leading man even joked about his marriage while promoting The Odyssey. While doing press for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Zendaya also had a cheeky comment on the union herself after receiving an impromptu proposal from a fan.

Zendaya recently appeared at a Brand New Day event in Mexico ahead of the highly anticipated 2026 movie schedule entry’s release. It was there that the A-lister walked the red carpet, where she was greeted by a host of photographers as well as admirers. When it came to the latter group of attendees, one person yelled “Will you marry me, please?” The situation was captured in a video shared to Instagram and, as seen in the clip, the MJ actress simply had a funny, three-word response:

I can see the Challengers star still hasn’t lost her impeccable comedic timing! On top of that, she’s also not wrong, given she’s definitely taken at this point. What I wonder, though, is whether or not that fan was aware that Zendaya and Holland had tied the knot or just went ahead and shot his shot anyways. I hope the guy didn’t take the star’s cheeky response too hard but, then again, he did perfectly set himself up for it.

As far as the marriage goes, it’s unclear as to exactly when Zendaya and Tom Holland actually tied the knot. Earlier this year, the actress’ stylist, Law Roach, let slip that the two had married in secret and, from that point on, rumors swirled around whether they actually jumped the broom. Of course, the Spider-Man stars themselves played coy for a while until Holland finally spilled the beans. (And the fact that he would reveal it tracks, given how often he drops Marvel spoilers).

That marriage proposal aside, the former Disney Channel star and her hubby have been busy as of late given their packed work schedules. Both have been jumping between Odyssey and Spider-Man press obligations, and I’m impressed with how they’ve handled it all. In the midst of all that, “Z” has also been sporting some sweet fits and further proving why she’s one of the fashion queens of Hollywood. And, by the looks of it, her hubby is enamored – not just by her threads but by her grace and charm as well.

I think that response to the marriage proposal also perfectly highlights Zendaya’s sense of humor, which manifests itself in a variety of ways. That even comes through when she frequently quotes a certain Spider-Man line to Holland when she sees fit. In short, this is a fun couple, and whenever that joy or humor spills into their public appearances, it’s a real treat.

Chief among them is Destin Daniel Cretton's Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which will finally pick up after No Way Home's twist ending. The blockbuster will feature Tom Holland's Peter Parker facing off against multiple villains, but there was a cut scene where even more were going to be used. Let's break it all down.

The Spider-Man movies usually feature iconic antagonists and Brand New Day's trailer showed Tom Holland battling The Hand, Scorpion, Tombstone and more. In an interview with Nerdtropolis, Cretton spoke about a scrapped scene which would have brought in even more beloved villains. As he put it:

I'm sorry, but I'm going to need more information ASAP. Which villains were going to be in this deleted scene? Were they ones already established or would they bring in new antagonists that fans know from the comics? What would have went down in this fight scene? Right now there's no answers, but hopefully we can see that sequence come to life if Tom Holland's franchise gets a fifth installment. Fingers crossed.

Even without this mysterious deleted scene, Spider-Man: Brand New Day looks like an epic ensemble project. On top of its villains, Peter Parker will also interact with both Jon Bernthal's Punisher and Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner/Hulk. Add in Sadie Sink's mysterious role, and there are tons of characters for the movie to service. So maybe it's for the best that the extra villain fight scene ended up on the cutting room floor.

Fans have been eager to catch up with Spider-Man for years, especially after No Way Home's wild ending. At the last movie's conclusion Doctor Strange's spell succeeded in making the entire world forget about Peter Parker. That includes both MJ and Ned, as well as Happy Hogan and the various superheroes he'd previously interacted with. We know that Zendaya's filming schedule was busy last year, as she worked on The Odyssey, Dune: Part Three and Euphoria. Now, with four major releases on the 2026 movie schedule, she's staying busy in a different way, as she promotes her projects and continues to prove why she's a fashion icon. This summer, specifically, she’s stepped up her fashion game, as she’s been on global press tours for The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Now, while she shows no signs of slowing down, I have to imagine that she needs a break after slaying this hard for so long.

I’m not kidding, Zendaya and her stylist, Law Roach, have been working overtime this summer. A few months after they put together a bunch of wedding-themed looks to promote The Drama, they brought their method-dressing A-games to not one major blockbuster’s press tour, but two. They began with some iconic fits like the one you can see below for Spider-Man: Brand New Day:

This gown is Giorgio Armani SS 1990, per Law Roach’s Instagram, and Zendaya wore it on June 23 to the Rome premiere of the fourth Spider-Man movie. She also rocked a fun red and blue fit to the photo call in Italy too.

During this leg of the Spider-Man press tour, she also rocked the prettiest backless spider-web dress in London, a fun suit jacket with red shorts in Amsterdam, and a stunning leather set in Berlin. That’s not even every look, either; these are just a few of my favorite examples.

Then, after a few weeks of globetrotting for Spider-Man, she began a different global press tour. That’s right, The Odyssey just came out in theaters, and in the weeks leading up to it, Zendaya wore a handful of stunning ensembles that were fit for a goddess. For example, on July 7 in Paris, she rocked a white dress from Givenchy Haute Couture SS 1997 by Alexander McQueen (per Roach’s IG), and it was paired with a mask by Philip Treacy.

A few days before that, she also graced London with some beautiful flowy looks, and then she rocked a curve-hugging Schiaparelli corset dress that was literally fresh off the runway to the premiere.

These are not all her looks for The Odyssey either; she wore many other lovely outfits while doing interviews for the movie too. For example, while on The Tonight Show, Zendaya wore a gold brocade ensemble by Zuhair Murad (which you can see below), and we cannot forget that jaw-dropping winged gown she wore to the movie’s New York premiere on July 14.

Notably, during The Odyssey premiere, where Zendaya wore that winged dress, she was asked about upcoming projects, like Shrek 5; she was also asked about taking a break after all this. During that interview with ET, she made it abundantly clear that she’s looking forward to doing “nothing” and minding her own business. She also, understandably, said that “sometimes you need to just disappear for a little bit.”

However, she’s not doing that just yet, because she still has more promo to do for Spider-Man. And she’s back wearing black outfits too, as she wore a black high-neck Ashi Studio gown to a fan event in Mexico City on July 20.

She really can’t stop, won’t stop with these looks, and there’s still over a week before Spider-Man: Brand New Day premieres on July 31. So, I’m sure the actress and her stylist have even more looks planned for the upcoming Marvel movie.

Now, by the time Spider-Man premieres, they will have been giving 110% and traveling all over the world for nearly two months straight. So, hopefully, Zendaya and Law Roach get a break. However, it won’t be a super long one, though, because Dune: Part Three will premiere on December 18. And we know the actress always goes hard with her fashion moments for those movies.

After that, though, she’ll be done for a while, and I hope she is able to take a vacation and breathe for a minute.

Tom Holland’s Peter Parker had quite the adventure during the events of 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. Not only did he manage to undo multiverse-based damage, but he also teamed up with returning Spider-Men, played by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. Even now, it’s hard to forget the sight of the three Peters swinging into action together, but it’s the more intimate moments between them that are truly memorable. There’s a lot of humor that comes as a result of the three Spideys chopping it up, and the older Peters also relate their own experiences to Holland’s Parker. Ahead of Brand New Day, Holland spoke at the film’s press conference – which CinemaBlend attended – and explained that his character’s dour circumstances cause him to neglect a key principle:

Garfield’s “amazing” Spider-Man (or Peter 3) did indeed tell Holland’s Parker not to be afraid to ask for help when needed. Well, based on the trailers for Brand New Day, the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s wall-crawler has pretty much put the weight of the world on his own shoulders. For years, mental health has long been synonymous with Spidey, and that seems to be in full swing – no pun intended – in Destin Daniel Cretton’s new film. Holland also explained the difference between Peter’s situation and his alter ego’s:

Such a situation parallels “what young people are going through on a daily basis.” Those youngsters may not have spider-based powers and have other costumed vigilantes as mentors, but the sentiment still rings true. As for Brand New Day, Peter may not be heeding advice from his counterparts, but Holland certainly hasn’t forgotten them. The actor wanted Parker’s new costume to pay homage to Garfield and Maguire’s Spider-Men by taking elements of both of their suits.

Peter’s fresh duds won’t exactly hide his depression, of course, and it seems he’s going to have some internal struggles in his latest film. I’m curious to see how he wrestles with those inner demons while dealing with New York’s nastiest criminals. Let’s hope he does manage to eventually heed the advice from Andrew Garfield’s version of the friendly neighborhood hero.

Tom Holland is a pro when it comes to stunt sequences. He’s been doing stunt choreography and fight scenes for a decade now, and I can’t think of anyone who has done more cinematic backflips in their movie career. However, apparently The Odyssey came with new challenges that the actor had never experienced before, and he recently explained what these sword fight sequences made things feel so much more dangerous.

In a recent interview with the cast of The Odyssey for Entertainment Weekly, the all-star group of actors talked about what made shooting this film so much more intense than their experiences in the past. All of the actors had experience with action sequences before, like the memorable fight sequences from the Jason Bourne movies with Matt Damon, or the stunt scenes with Anne Hathaway in the Dark Knight Rises.

However with three Spider-Man movies and three Avengers movies under his belt, Holland might take the cake as the most experienced. He joked that his Spidy-skills wouldn't have worked for this film though, saying:

The armor in The Odyssey scenes wasn’t the only thing that set the fight sequences in the film apart from Spider-Man, though. Holland explained that the sword battles in the buzzy 2026 movie release felt incredibly different than anything he’d experienced before, and a lot of this had to do with the way that director Christopher Nolan directs scenes like this, where he runs through it completely without cutting. Holland explained:

I can imagine how this could be incredibly daunting. When swords are being moved around everywhere in a stunt sequence without any cutting, it must feel very scary. Even though this is all movie magic, with intricate stunt choreography and safety precautions all being taken, it doesn’t take away from the fact that heavy, pointy movie props are moving around everywhere. The lack of cutting makes everything feel way more real and less clean than a Marvel movie. Nolan also admitted that the weapons used in a film like this makes things more dangerous, saying:

The danger behind the whole thing translates so well on screen, so the shooting style was definitely the right move for scenes like this. It brings a sense of grandiosity as well as danger, and Nolan’s insistence on actually using hordes of extras for his battles instead of CGI grounds the film even more. Comparing Marvel sequences with The Odyssey feels a bit unfair, but with a shared cast, it’s hard not to. There is something so gritty about these sequences that work so perfectly for The Odyssey, and allows the characters, like Holland's, to actually feel the stakes of the film.

There are more than a few secrets swirling (or swinging?) around Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but the biggest mystery involves Sadie Sink. Neither Marvel Studios nor Sink herself have yet to divulge the identity of her character, and speculation has been running rampant. Even though the powers that be still aren’t willing to share details, it seems the marketing team has reached the point where it’s having some fun with the situation. That’s right, Sink and the Spidey team are now trolling fans, and it’s honestly making me laugh.

When it comes to getting the general public prepared for a new movie, especially one as big as Spider-Man, a marketing team has to find interesting ways to build hype and curiosity. One of the ways in which the marketers at Sony did that was by sharing a cheeky video of Sink on Instagram and, in it, she confirms to have seen the various theories about her character. She then proceeds to give the public three “exclusive confirmed” answers. However, her comments likely aren’t what devotees are looking for:

Sink’s last answer is, of course, a particularly sharp jab, given how obvious it is. And Sony’s marketing team wasn’t done playing on the Sink situation, either. Another video posted to IG plays on the matter as well, though it does so in a very different and self-aware way. The clip shows the Stranger Things alum sitting down to the chorus of tense orchestral music, with the caption noting that she’s preparing to film a documentary on how she managed to keep her role a secret. Take a look:

Marvel Studios does indeed like to toy with fans now and then, so these Spider-Man promotional videos definitely track. Of course, these kinds of clips may not work for everyone, but I can appreciate such advertising. What it seems to show is that the marketing team has its finger on the pulse of the fandom and simply wants to have some fun with them in a creative way. And, at this point, the clips seem to have gained quite a bit of traction. The “answers” video has over 770,000 likes, while the faux doc clip has over 301,000.

These materials aside, though, I’m truly amazed at how Sadie Sink has been able to keep her character a secret since she was cast in Brand New Day back in March 2025. Of course, that’s not to say it’s been easy for the actress to hold everything in. Sink previously discussed the struggle of not being able to openly discuss her role, joking that the situation “torture.” Nevertheless, she’s proven to be a pro at keeping “secrets,” and her occasional spoiler-dropper of a co-star, Tom Holland, may want to take some notes.

Although Sink’s character hasn’t officially been announced, fans have long had theories, which even pre-dated her casting. The most common rumor is that the O'Dessa star is playing the powerful Jean Grey, a member of the X-Men. Plenty of fans seem to be high on that idea and, at this point, fan art of Sink as Grey has even made the rounds. It would be huge if the A-lister were definitely playing Grey, and her introduction could have massive ramifications for the Marvel Cinematic Universe moving forward.

It won’t be too much longer before we have a definitive answer regarding this Brand New Day character, but the wait is getting somewhat difficult for me amid this final stretch. At this point, I’d be surprised if Sink weren’t playing Jean, but MCU fans like myself have been surprised before. For now, though, I would expect Sadie Sink and the marketing team to keep us guessing about the nature of her role and find funny ways to do so.

Could it mean that something as equally game-changing as Strange's spell will come into play, making it so that Holland's Peter Parker has a brand new life outside of being a friendly neighborhood superhero? Could he get — [gulp] — cured and turned back into a non-powered human?

How Director Destin Daniel Cretton Addressed The Title's Meaning

Just before Tom Holland dropped that knowledge in the Disney+ special, director Destin Daniel Cretton shared his own thoughts about the title, but his comments are far more in line with how I was considering them before, without it being tied so directly to the last shot of the movie. In his words:

To me, that just sounds like he's saying the title applies to Peter having to wake up every morning to face unpredictable dangers of all kinds, which is more or less what I was assuming to begin with. So is he just playing coy, or is Holland being too spoilery?

I think two key question need to be answered here. One: how long ago the footage for the special was recorded? And two: how realistic have the reports been about Spider-Man: Brand New Day's ending getting changed up after the original ending was reportedly viewed as too much of a downer by test audiences?

If the rumored changes to the ending are legit, one can assume that Holland's comments were made only after the alterations were made, and not before. Otherwise, fans might go into Brand New Day looking for some last-minute context that doesn't exist anymore.

Of course, there's still time for Tom Holland to just up and spoil the ending anyway, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it all pans out, and whether it will directly set up Spidey's return for Avengers: Secret Wars or another unannounced sequel. I can't wait! Cue the trailer!

Michael Keaton’s Vulture remains one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s better villains, in part because he never feels like he wandered in from a different movie. His Adrian Toomes is a working-class criminal with a legitimate grievance, a terrifying wing suit and enough restraint to make that car ride with Peter Parker feel more dangerous than most battles in new superhero movies. Keaton was so natural in the role that it is difficult to picture anyone else answering the door as Liz’s father in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Apparently, Marvel Studios once had someone very different in mind.

During an appearance on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, Lin-Manuel Miranda was asked about a Marvel role he had reportedly been offered around 2016. Horowitz first guessed Spider-Man: Homecoming, then worked his way through the cast before landing on the Vulture. Miranda confirmed it and immediately admitted he believes Marvel avoided a major casting mistake. He explained:

Horowitz sounded genuinely shocked by the answer. Before guessing Vulture, he floated Martin Starr’s role, presumably thinking the theater icon might have been considered for one of Peter Parker’s teachers or another comedic supporting part. Miranda quickly told him Starr was not the answer, which only made the eventual reveal all the wilder.

The Hamilton creator would have been coming directly off his Broadway run when Homecoming entered production. On paper, casting one of the industry’s most recognizable performers made sense. The In the Heights star was already closely associated with Disney through Moana, and his combination of humor, nervous energy and rapid-fire delivery could have produced a very different Adrian Toomes.

Miranda’s “miscast” assessment also feels fair. Homecoming needs the Vulture to seem older, worn down and quietly dangerous. Keaton brings decades of screen history to the part, including the audience’s memory of him as Batman, but he never treats Toomes as a theatrical supervillain. He approaches him as a father and business owner who decided the world had cheated him, then built an illegal weapons operation to even the score.

Miranda likely would have emphasized Toomes’ intelligence and restless charm. Keaton made him feel like the kind of man who could sit across from Peter at dinner, make polite conversation and still scare the life out of him without raising his voice.

Marvel near-casting stories often leave fans wondering about the movie that might have been. This one mostly reinforces how well the final choice worked. Miranda protected his marriage, the Beetlejuice star landed one of his strongest blockbuster roles, and Spider-Man: Homecoming found exactly the villain it needed. I had been thinking about the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday as the next massive Marvel roll call. You know the deal: heroes from all corners of the MCU multiverse, the Fantastic Four, returning legacy names, Doctor Doom chaos stirring things up, and so many heroes it could feel a little crowded. But producer Kevin Feige just made me much more interested in the upcoming Marvel movie, thanks to his comments about Florence Pugh’s Thunderbolts* character, Yelena Belova.

During Feige’s appearance at BiliBili World in Shanghai, via Entertainment Weekly, the Marvel Studios boss teased what is coming for Pugh’s fan-favorite former assassin on the 2026 movie schedule. While talking about Yelena’s MCU future, Feige made it clear she will not just be hanging around in the background of the next Avengers movie. He said:

That is the kind of Feige tease that immediately sends Marvel fans like me into detective mode. The obvious part is Doomsday. Yelena playing a “big part” in the next Avengers movie makes sense after everything Marvel has been building with her and how Thunderbolts* ended. Since her debut in Black Widow, Pugh has turned Yelena into one of the MCU’s most reliable newer characters, bringing dry humor, emotional baggage and a very specific “I could kill you, but I’m hungry” energy to every appearance.

The more interesting part is Feige saying we might see Yelena “a little bit sooner in the movies.” Unless Marvel is holding back another theatrical surprise, that seems to point toward the soon-to-be-released Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which hits theaters nearly six months before Avengers: Doomsday. And, honestly, Yelena crossing paths with Tom Holland’s Peter Parker is just odd enough to have my attention.

At first, Peter and Yelena do not sound like an obvious pairing. Peter is still dealing with the fallout from No Way Home, where everyone forgot Peter Parker existed. Yelena is a trained killer with a sharp tongue and very little patience for nonsense. But Brand New Day already seems interested in unusual combinations, especially with the Punisher and Hulk appearing in the movie. If those characters can fit into Peter’s world, Yelena does not feel like much of a stretch.

The team-up of characters is also not as strange as it might sound, because to anyone with a Disney+ subscription who has already watched Hawkeye and seen Yelena work in a more family-friendly Marvel story. She brought a sharper edge to that show, but she never felt out of place or as if she were pulling it into a completely different tone.

From a bigger MCU standpoint, it makes sense too. Avengers: Doomsday is going to be huge and, if Yelena really has a major role in it, Marvel may want to remind audiences where she is before that movie arrives. A smaller appearance beforehand could give her story some momentum and make her role in the next Avengers film feel less sudden.

That is especially important because Yelena is not just another name on the team sheet. Pugh has been one of Marvel’s strongest additions in the post-Endgame era, and the MCU could use more characters who feel specific rather than interchangeable. So, yes, Avengers: Doomsday is still the big heroes team-up. That is clearly the main event. But Feige’s comments have me watching the road to that movie more closely, because Yelena may be more important to this phase than I expected.

However, the Spider-Man movies are packed with very funny lines too that are also worth quoting. In fact, there’s one line from Spider-Man: Homecoming that Zendaya says to Tom Holland “a lot” that’s hilarious.

So, as Tom Holland, Zendaya and Jacob Batalon promote Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s release on the 2026 movie schedule, they were asked about movie quotes they use in their everyday lives during an interview with BBC Radio 1. In response, the Challengers star recalled a funny line Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark says in the trio's first Spider-Man movie:

While The Drama star claimed Holland wouldn’t agree with her, he actually did, confirming that she does “say that a lot.”

I get why it’s stuck with them, too. Not only is it a memorable line in Spider-Man: Homecoming, it’s actually said multiple times by Tony Stark (which you can witness by watching the movie with a Disney+ subscription). He says it once right after the whole debacle with the Staten Island Ferry, telling Peter:

He also says it at the very end of the movie, after Peter defeated The Vulture. Both complimenting the boy’s actions and reprimanding him, Robert Downey Jr.’s character said:

While it’s considered one of Tony Stark’s funniest lines, and it’s easily one of the sillier MCU quotes, it is admittedly an odd statement. That’s something Zendaya, Holland and Jacob Batalon joked about too, as they spoke about how it doesn’t make much sense, but it totally works in the movie:

• Zendaya: I think that was just like—what?
• Jacob Batalon: I think that’s just a bad white guy thing to say.
• Tom Holland: Again, not written. I remember walking down the thing, and he said that. And I was like, ‘I don’t know what you’re talking about.’
• Zendaya: [I don’t know] what that means, but it’s great.

I totally see what they’re saying; it is an odd thing to say. However, it’s also not that uncommon, and it’s used often when people mess up big time or embarrass themselves, which Peter did on a few occasions in Homecoming.

Now, if you’ve seen the Marvel movies in order, you know how quotable they are. And personally, Homecoming is one of my favorites to quote. It’s awesome that Zendaya does that too, and I love that the line she references most is this hilarious one that’s said by Robert Downey Jr.

Overall, this whole discussion made me want to rewatch Homecoming. However, it also made me even more excited for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, because I’m sure it will be full of great one-liners, just like the other three Holland-led Spidey films are. Which then makes me wonder whether or not director Destin Daniel Cretton will be throwing some comic book werewolf lore at audiences. It’s not likely, of course, but it’s possible.

The Wedding Is For "John & Lucy"

I'll freely admit that I didn't expect the wedding mayhem in Brand New Day to be of genuine import, and just thought it was conceived of as an interesting setting for superhero hijinks. (Which could still be the case.) But this cast video plays up the idea that fans will be familiar with whoever the groom and/or bride are, while confirming that Sadie Sink's mystery character won't be in bridal-wear.

The only concrete-ish information out there regarding the wedding is the one trailer shot that shows the side of a helicopter whose windows are emblazoned with the "Just Married" message, as seen above. There's obviously a ton of speculation about who both of those names could be referring to, with Runaways' Karolina "Lucy in the Sky" Dean being a popular choice for the latter moniker.

Guesses are more split for the groom, but I'm fully siding with anyone predicting that it's John Jameson, the son of J. Jonah Jameson. It's a fun set-up that could not only bring J.K. Simmons back for a JJJ appearance, but also give him a huge reason to revitalize his hatred for Spider-Man. It looks like quite the expensive and lavish wedding, and I doubt anyone partially responsible for footing the bill will appreciate webslingers destroying things.

John Jameson Becomes Man-Wolf In The Comics

Now, I get that Spider-Man: Brand New Day has more than enough story elements already in play that it doesn't need to bring supernatural monster characters into the mix willy nilly. But given so many other villains and side characters such as Tombstone and Scorpion are involved, and without the expectations for them to be heavily featured throughout, then it's not the most unbelievable thing in the world that we'll get a quick Man-Wolf reference.

I'm not loony enough to think that John Jameson will become the movie's lycanthropic big bad, even given the fact that we still don't know who the main villain is. But it would be incredible if the movie pays homage to the character's comic history with joke about him going through 30 razors a month, or having sharper-than-usual canine teeth. It would also be incredible to get a full-on transformation sequence, though that's less likely.

After all, it's not like this would be the first Marvel project to feature werewolves and other monsters, considering Werewolf By Night brought in both Jack Russell and Man-Thing, and remains one of the more critically acclaimed Disney+-specific MCU entries. It might be a little too high-falutin to make that connection concrete for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but if not now, when?

Peter Parker's latest world-saving adventure will soon arrive when Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters on July 30, 2026.

Cinema lovers are already anticipating a number of titles on the 2027 movie schedule, and one of its most anticipated entries is easily Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. The threequel is expected to end the trilogy that began with 2018’s Into the Spider-Verse, and the creative team are seeking to bring this story to a strong conclusion. There haven’t been too many updates on the production in recent months, yet producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller are now speaking out. And there’s one reason their comments have me psyched!

Earlier this year, Lord and Miller marked the release of a little movie called Project Hail Mary, which they co-directed. To put it mildly, that Ryan Gosling-led flick took up a lot of their time, but that didn’t mean Spider-Verse fell by the wayside. The duo – who also co-wrote the Beyond script with David Callaham – recently opened up about the progress they’ve been making on the upcoming superhero threequel. Miller even revealed that they’re collaborating with a certain film technology company on a certain aspect of the movie:

Per Empire Magazine, the duo is seeking to ensure this Spider-Verse movie is shown in the expanded 1.43:1 IMAX ratio, and that really excites me! This animated film series utilizes cutting edge technology, and it’s glorious to behold on any screen. I saw the first two movies in IMAX and, while those were great moviegoing experiences, the films were only shown in the standard 2.39:1 aspect ratio. So I’m pumped that Miller, Lord and co. want the threequel to completely fill IMAX screens and be without those pesky black bars.

I should’ve known they had big plans for the format because, after the film’s date was delayed a few weeks, Miller tweeted that they now had a “better IMAX window.” In other words, fans will hopefully have plenty of time to see the movie as it’s meant to be seen. More immediately, though, Lord stresses that the team is putting in a lot of work to ensure the film is expertly crafted:

Beyond the Spider-Verse picks up immediately after the events of 2023’s Across the Spider-Verse, which saw Miles Morales trapped in an alternate universe amid his quest to save his family. Not only that, but the young hero also found himself face to face with a variant of himself, who’d become that world’s version of The Prowler. Specific plot details have been tightly webbed up, but I’m hopeful that fans are in for a thrilling, emotional and visually dazzling send-off for this series. As Chris Miller said, “you got to keep doing something that hasn't been done before” and, if any people can do that, it’s him, Phil Lord and their team.

Fans will be able to feast their eyes on Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse when it opens in theaters on June 18, 2027. In the meantime, true believers, stream Into the Spider-Verse and Across the Spider-Verse with a Disney+ subscription and Netflix subscription, respectively.

In the clip, Batalon and Zendaya appear to act as if they do not know the Spidey actor, while he makes sad little Peter Parker faces at the camera. The post’s caption reads, “Peter, who?” which is rude, but honestly pretty funny.

The text on the video twists the knife perfectly: “when your besties forget that you’re also their bestie.” Brutal, but fair. By the end of No Way Home, Doctor Strange’s spell had erased Peter Parker from everyone’s memory. The world still remembers Spider-Man, but the person beneath the mask has been erased from the lives of the people who loved him most.

Holland has teased exactly one person still knowing who is behind the webbed mask, but Ned seemingly does not remember being his guy in the chair. MJ also does not remember their relationship. So yes, this is a cute Instagram bit, but it’s built on emotional wreckage. Very Spider-Man coded, honestly.

The timing is especially fun because Brand New Day feels like a title loaded with reset energy. Holland is back for his fourth solo movie, and the franchise seems positioned to move Peter into a new era. That is also why he can’t stop, won't stop dropping Miles Morales’ name when it comes to Spider-Man’s future. The Uncharted actor has made it clear he wants to help bring Miles into the MCU someday, and he has talked about paying it forward for the mentorship he received from Robert Downey Jr.

The filmmakers clearly know fans are asking those questions, which is probably why this little trolling video works so well. The post does not give away any plot details, but it taps directly into that emotional thread. It is a wink, a tease and a reminder that Peter’s situation is still pretty brutal, even when it is being played as a social media joke. Stop and think about it for even a minute, and the whole bit suddenly has a pretty melancholy undertone.

Now, as we get excited for those releases, it's also time to look toward the future, as Holland revealed the kind of project he'd like to work on next with his partner.

There’s no doubt that Holland and Zendaya have undeniable chemistry playing love interests in the Spider-Man movies. Peter and MJ starting as awkward high school teens with a crush and growing into a lovely couple is one element that’s made the MCU flicks all the more memorable. However, there's no denying how badly I want to see these two actors in a full-blown rom-com. Thankfully, Holland wants to see that too, as he explained to Vanity Fair France at Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s UGC Cine Cité Bercy fan event:

Well, this needs to happen immediately. That's because not only do I want to see these two in a rom-com, but they both have the musical background to pull off what Holland suggested in a magnificent way.

For instance, Zendaya started on Disney Channel, dancing and singing on Shake It Up! while also releasing two albums. Not to mention, she topped the music charts with songs from Euphoria, and she starred in the musical flick The Greatest Showman. So, you know singing and dancing won’t be a problem for the Emmy winner, as Tom Holland said. And because we haven’t seen the actress/singer in a light romance movie before, why not take that genre on with her real-life husband?

As for Tom Holland, he's got some moves of his own! In fact, he joined the cast of Billy Elliot on the West End when he was only 12 years old. Now, Holland is set to play Fred Astaire in the song-and-dance man’s biopic. He's actually started working on the film too, as he explained on Good Hang with Amy Poehler that he had his first dance rehearsal for the flick recently. So, we know he's got the moves; now, we just need to hear his vocal chops.

You have to admit that a Tom Holland-Zendaya rom-com is exactly what we need. While the pair share plenty of cute romance scenes in the Spider-Man movies, their characters still face the constant threat of enemies. So, I'd love to see them tell a story where their characters simply fall in love. Plus, The Drama actress looked very impressed watching her other half dancing ballet in front of her and doing a funny impression of his Billy Elliot singing. So, I can see them having a lot of fun singing and dancing together in a musical.

However, that's a dream for now. So, while we wait for Tom Holland and Zendaya to hopefully star in a musical rom-com together, you can see the loving pair reunite in Spider-Man: Brand New Day on July 31st. You can also watch the actors in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey in theaters on July 17th.

With Spider-Man: Brand New Day coming out on July 31st, we’re getting a fourth Tom Holland (and Zendaya) Spider-Man movie, and cool. I’m looking forward to it. However, do you know what gets me down? The fact that we never got that fourth Tobey Maguire Spider-Man flick.

Because, honestly, a fourth Sam Raimi Spider-Man movie has always been a dream of mine. Yes, I do love how Raimi came back to Marvel and brought his horror sensibilities to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but his Spider-Man movies (most notably Spider-Man 2) were the first time that I really thought Hollywood nailed comic book flicks.

So, even though I’m cool with a fourth Tom Holland Spidey movie, here’s why I still wish we got that fourth Tobey Maguire Spider-Man film.

I Liked Spider-Man 3, But It Was Kind Of A Mess

A lot of people really love Tom Holland’s third Spider-Man movie, No Way Home, and I’m one of them. I especially loved seeing my favorite cinematic Spider-Man, Andrew Garfield, return, as well as Tobey Maguire. However, one might argue that No Way Home was a bit overstuffed, and really shouldn’t have been a multiverse movie at all. Because in a lot of ways, there was a bit too much going on in that film.

Well, speaking of “too much going on,” I think the king of that is 2007’s Spider-Man 3, which had so many subplots going on that it really did feel like being trapped in a web. We had Peter and MJ’s relationship falling apart. We had a new villain in Sandman. We had Topher Grace being Peter’s rival, Eddie Brock, who eventually became Venom. We had Bryce Dallas Howard as Peter’s new love interest, Gwen Stacy. We had James Franco becoming the New Goblin. I mean, it was all just TOO FREAKING MUCH!

And, honestly, it wasn’t a great film to end the trilogy on. Because, yeah, while I love a great trilogy just as much as the next person, I genuinely feel like a middling third movie can taint the other two films. For example, take The Dark Knight Rises. I know some people love that movie, but besides it being one of the weaker Christopher Nolan movies (if you ask me), I also just think it brings down the other two movies, which were both bangers. And I think the same goes for Spider-Man 3, which I don’t even hate.

Because that’s the thing. I DON’T detest Spider-Man 3 as so many people do. However, it’s such a mess that I think it brings down the other two films when viewed as a whole. So, I think a fourth movie could have fixed that problem, especially given what the fourth movie might have been…

What We Know About What Spider-Man 4 Could Have Been Sounds Pretty Cool

Am I the only one who wanted a fourth Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movie? No, of course not, as there are plenty of fans who want this as well. That said, do I want a NEW version of Spider-Man 4? No, not really. Because this article isn’t about the future, or about getting Raimi back in the saddle to direct another Spider-Man movie. No. This is more of a “what-if” scenario, as in, What-if we got that fourth Spider-Man movie back in 2011? How cool would that have been?

Well, according to ScreenRant, the fourth, cancelled Spider-Man movie might have featured John Malkovich as Vulture (We’d later see Michael Keaton fill that role in Spider-Man: Homecoming), and Black Cat might have also been in the film, possibly played by Anne Hathaway, who would later go on to play Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises, so apparently, she was always destined to be a cat person. Cooler still though, was that Bruce Campbell might have been in the movie as Mysterio (Who Jake Gyllenhaal would later play in Spider-Man: Far From Home).

There is also speculation that Dr. Curt Connors, who was played by Dylan Baker in Maguire’s Spider-Man films, might have actually finally transformed into The Lizard. And, do you know what this sounds like to me? It sounds like the beginning of the Sinister Six! Now, I know The Sinister Six was supposed to get their own movie in The Amazing Spider-Man universe, but that was ultimately scrapped, which I’m not particularly mad at since I genuinely detest The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (I’ll actually get to those movies in a second).

A movie with then-unseen characters like Vulture, The Lizard, and Mysterio vs. a seasoned Spider-Man? How could you NOT have wanted to see that?

I Kind Of Like The Amazing Spider-Man Films, But I Also Kind Of Wish They Never Existed

As I said earlier, Andrew Garfield is my favorite Spider-Man, but I’m sorry, The Amazing Spider-Man 1 and 2 are quite possibly the worst Spider-Man flicks ever made. I mean, the first one wasn’t terrible. In fact, I actually kind of dig it. But that second TASM is arguably the worst in the entire franchise (though some may say Spider-Man 3 edges that out).

That’s another reason why I wish a fourth Tobey Maguire movie got released. It would have meant that we likely never would have gotten a reboot of the franchise, and thus, no TASM movies at all. Would this be a bad thing? Well, in a sense, yes, since it means that we never would have gotten my favorite Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Andrew Garfield. However, it also means that we never would have gotten THAT version of The Lizard, or THAT version of Electro.

It also means that we wouldn’t have gotten Gwen Stacy’s death mishandled so poorly. It also means that we wouldn’t have gotten Spider-Man: No Way Home, as there wouldn’t have been multiversal Spider-Men to pull from, which is probably just best saved for the Miles Morales Spider-Man movies anyway.

Honestly, in a lot of ways, it’s actually kind of hard to imagine the ripple effect that a fourth Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movie might have had if it had ever been made. For example, would we still be getting Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movies to this very day? It makes one wonder…

I Love Tom Holland, But Similar To Hugh Jackman Being The Only Wolverine, I Wish Maguire Was The Only Spider-Man

…and it leads me to this conclusion: If we had gotten that fourth Spider-Man movie, then Tobey Maguire might still be the only actor to have played the webhead in the live-action films. You might think this is absurd, since the powers that be would definitely want a younger Peter Parker eventually, but just look at Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. There has only been one live-action version of the character (Let’s ignore Deadpool & Wolverine’s variants for a moment), and that would be cool if there was only one live-action Spider-Man, too.

Because while I do like Tom Holland in the role, I’d much prefer it if we only had one live-action Spider-Man, similar to Wolverine. I love how Maguire is an older Spider-Man, since that’s my favorite version of the character, and I think his getting older could be a good plot point, rather than him repeatedly being brought back to high school age.

Aside from everything I’ve already mentioned, I think this is the biggest reason why I wish there had been a fourth (successful!) Spider-Man movie with Tobey Maguire, and it’s because I’d love to only see him underneath the mask. But alas, we'll never know.

But it hasn't just been black before this week. In Spain, Zendaya went all red with a gown from Ernesto Naranjo, and in Amsterdam she looked “Michael Jackson-coded” with a black top and red shorts from Louis Vuitton.

Her co-star and real-life hubby, Tom Holland, has been in attendance with her, but Zendaya’s fashion is always so eye-catching that sometimes I forget to swoon over the newly married couple. This is one of two 2026 summer movies the pair is in, with the other being Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. I cannot wait to see how Zendaya and Law Roach decide to dress for the Greek epic, already. And surely, the pair of fashion masterminds have something fun cooked up for the Dune: Part 3 press tour as well.

Zendaya once again is playing MJ in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but she’s starting over with Peter Parker / Spider-Man after the events of No Way Home. In the last Spider-Man film, she and everyone else forgot all about Peter Parker. However, one thing I'll never forget is this outfit. Anyway, the movie comes out on July 31, a couple of weeks after The Odyssey’s release on July 17.

Anytime there’s an upcoming Marvel movie on the horizon, fans are going into the experience knowing full well what the Hero Vs. Villain situation is going to be, with the Russos’ Avengers: Doomsday as the ultra-epitome of that idea. Not so much with Spider-Man: Brand New Day, though, which tipped fans off to both Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle and Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner, but without word on specific big bads. It’s really starting to make my Nicky Sense tingle. (Editor Note: destroy the phrase “Nicky Sense.”)

It’s obviously a known mystery amongst fans that major villain reveals have yet to surface, but Tom Holland himself spoke to that notion at one of Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s red carpet premieres, as seen in a clip shared on X. He shared:

Certainly not the first time someone has used the "unlike anything we've seen before" boast to address a villain, and this is certainly an instance where we literally haven't seen the villain yet. So it tracks, logically speaking. But having Holland address it as a "mystery" without spoiling anything sparked a few theories in my head about why Marvel and the Spider-Man team are waffling on reveals. (Especially if the antagonist ends up being Tombstone, who first took over the rumor mill back in February, or others like Ramrod, Tarantula and Boomerang.

Theory 1: It's Connected To Doctor Doom, And Can't Be Revealed Until Doomsday's Trailer Is Out

The idea here is that whatever villain Spider-Man is dealing with in Brand New Day's reworked version of reality is directly related to Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom, and that Kevin Feige & Co. won't want to show off the villain's iconography without first revealing RDJ's full Doom look in an Avengers: Doomsday trailer, which is rumored to be going public for San Diego Comic-Con.

It's not extremely likely, but it's possible that Spider-Man: BND's reshoots went down to incorporate things from Doomsday that hadn't yet been conceived when director Destin Daniel Cretton went through the initial production phase, and/or that already filmed scenes needed touch-ups to bring in new visuals. How cool and depressing would it be if Peter had to face off against a Tony Stark clone, or if Sadie Sink is playing a femme Doombot?

Theory 2: The Villain Reveal Will Be A Twist Involving A New Character

Also possible: Spider-Man: Brand New Day may already revealed its key villain by proxy of one of the new actors joining this corner of the MCU. Which pretty much limits this theory to Severance great Tramell Tillman's Bill Metzger or one of the as-yet-unidentified characters being played by Sadie Sink or Keith David. unidentified character.

Although it could technically end up being Eman Esfandi, who will be portraying a new love interest for Zendaya's MJ. Such a transparent placement might be a weak story move, but it's still feasible, all things considered.

Theory 3: The Villain Will Be A Variant Of An Already Existing Character

To flip the previous idea, it's possible the biggest foe trying to take Spider-Man down is someone who's already very familiar to MCU audiences, only under the guises of a more heroic role. What if, much like Robert Downey Jr. jumping from Iron Man to Doctor Doom, another beloved actor flips from playing a virtuous hero to playing a devious bad guy?

Could we see Chris Evans taking over the role of Green Goblin or something, or something even wilder, like Tobey Maguire and/or Andrew Garfield taking on new life as Brand New Day's antagonist(s)? That sounds way wilder than whatever will probably happen, but one can dream. I'm also not counting out the idea that the previously spoiled Savage Hulk could be the main villain.

Theory 4: It's Ned

To stretch the previous theory out a little more, maybe we're not talking about a variant of a superhero character, but rather an alternate version of someone from Peter Parker's personal life. Such as, oh I dunno, Jacob Batalon's Ned. The movie's twisted version of reality makes this theory seem easier to pull off than it would if Ned was still knowingly Peter's BFF.

But maybe the Ned we see in the trailers isn't just the same memory-lapsed dude that we're meant to think he is. Maybe this Ned is all-knowing and responsible for the dangers and terrors that come Peter's way in Brand New Day. Plus, I don't think it's a coincidence that an anagram for the movie's subtitle is: Brand Ned Way. That's pretty much all the evidence needed, amirite?

I cannot wait to find out which of the webslinger's rogues will be bringing the chaos when Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters on July 31, 2026.

The promotional train is full speed ahead and then some for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, to the point where even Zendaya’s outfits are speculation-worthy, and we can only hope that it hits theaters before Tom Holland reveals too many secrets. The upcoming Marvel movie released its final trailer recently, and followed that up with a TV spot confirming a few interesting new powers that Peter Parker will need to contend with, and one seems destined for an inopportune failure.

Specifically, the new promo below reveals that Spidey’s body is going through some changes in the new 2026 release, amusingly dubbed “spider-puberty” by a young student in there. His senses are becoming even more heightened in their sensitivity, his agility is even more advanced and pronounced, and he’s rocking the comic book ability of producing organic webbing. New Spider-Man: Brand New Day "Powers" TV Spot

As seen in the video, Peter’s skin is also extremely hard to penetrate, and even a needle is unable to poke through. You know what I think? I think the NYC hero had to get some far tougher skin so that working alongside Jon Bernthal’s Punisher doesn’t crush his optimism and genial nature.

But let's focus more on the major webbing advancement that's revealed. Peter is now able to create his signature webbing not just through synthetics and dispensers, but biologically through his own body. It's a comic book detail that hasn't been utilized across all Spider-Man stories, but has definitely been a hook for certain takes on the character across the multiverse, such as the cloned Kaine Parker and Silk.

I love that Peter's so grossed out by it happening in the teaser, since that probably is a very strange feeling to experience out of the blue. Especially if it's coming out of the same place where the faux webbing came from. But I think those physical sensations will be the least of his problems when it comes to his new power.

Why I'm Already Ready For Spider-Man's Organic Webbing To Backfire

Big picture-wise, it's possible that these mutations will inevitably turn Peter into the Man-Spider, although I don't really foresee that playing out in live-action. Instead, and not to be a total pessimist, but I have to assume that Peter's organic webbing will be the first of his newer powers to work against him.

How? By running out at the most inopportune moment imaginable. Arguably the biggest issue with Peter's previous forms of web-making is that there was only a finite amount of material for him to utilize. And one might think that making webs biologically would eradicate any supply and demand hiccups, but the human body isn't really designed to create any particular organic material ad infinitum. There's a limit to everything our bodies can do, presumably even when radioactive arachnids are the source.

So I'm now around 93% convinced that the second act of Spider-Man: Brand New Day will feature a scene where Peter makes a comment about his organic webs never running out, so that in the third act, just when he's about to take down any and all villainous entities for good, his new webbing holes will putter out and fail him. And just when he finally left his other canisters back at home. Tsk tsk, Spider-Man. Tsk tsk, indeed.

Or hey, maybe it won't be quite as dire, and his webbing will run out right when Mark Ruffalo's newly giant-again Hulk goes to smack the crap out of him.

We're still a little over a month away from the much-hyped Spider-Man: Brand New Day swinging onto the 2026 movie schedule, but the promotional tour is already giving MCU fans plenty to obsess over. Between the newest trailer, the mysterious plot details and Tom Holland and Zendaya making the rounds, every little detail is being picked apart. Apparently, that now includes Zendaya's wardrobe, which features a ton of black. Now, one fan theory about this color choice has me seriously nervous.

Over the last several appearances promoting Brand New Day, fans have noticed that the Euphoria actress has repeatedly worn black. Normally, I would write this off as someone simply having excellent taste. Still, one viral fan reaction on X made me pause and wonder if Marvel fans are accidentally manifesting something terrible:

Fans Have Plenty Of Theories About Zendaya's Black Wardrobe

As expected, Marvel fans immediately turned detective. Some viewers think the darker looks are teasing a death, which obviously worries me, but others also think it could be a tease for Spider-Man's black symbiote suit. Could Zendaya be quietly hinting at Venom's eventual arrival in the franchise? Maybe!

A few people have even suggested that the colors symbolize MJ's emotional state after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, in which Peter Parker was erased from her memory. Some of the best responses included:

That last theory hurts my Spidey-loving heart the most. Despite not remembering who Peter is, the first Brand New Day trailer hints that, deep down, MJ’s connection to him might be bubbling under the surface. So she might be mourning their breakup, even if she’s not consciously aware of what she lost.

Could A Major Character Die In Brand New Day?

Here's the thing. The original post made me laugh, but the more I thought about it, the more nervous I became. Marvel loves visual storytelling, even in promotional tours. Actor interviews and promos have become extensions of marketing campaigns, even down to wardrobes. Stars frequently coordinate colors and themes with the projects they're promoting. We've already seen both Zendaya (a known method dresser) and Holland appear in combinations of black, white, blue and red during various events. But, beyond the fashion, there is a legitimate reason for fans to be worried.

Brand New Day picks up after the devastating ending of No Way Home, which left Peter Parker completely alone. MJ, Ned and the rest of the world no longer remember him. The trailer has already hinted at a darker, more isolated Peter, and rumors about villains like Sadie Sink’s mysterious character and the possible arrival of the symbiote have only fueled speculation.

Spider-Man stories are also notoriously painful. Uncle Ben died. Gwen Stacy died. Aunt May died. Peter Parker practically has tragedy written into his DNA. So, when fans joke, "Who is dying?" forgive me if my brain immediately starts creating worst-case scenarios.

To be clear, I have absolutely no evidence that Zendaya's wardrobe is secretly foreshadowing a funeral. For all I know, black simply looks fantastic on her, which, admittedly, it does. Still, comic books and the studios have trained me to look for clues everywhere when it comes to new upcoming Marvel movies.

Thanks to one fan's comment, I probably won't be able to see another all-black press look without wondering who needs to be protected before Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrives in theaters on July 31, 2026.

It’s common knowledge that Marvel keeps details about upcoming MCU projects under lock and key (and I'd imagine inside a maximum-security vault). However, despite the efforts made to keep this information under wraps until a movie premieres, Tom Holland is notorious for spoiling MCU secrets, so much so that they stopped giving him full scripts. Now, as Spider-Man: Brand New Day approaches on the 2026 movie schedule, the Odyssey actor is working overtime to not spoil the highly anticipated summer blockbuster, and fans can’t get enough of how adorably nervous he is.

Thunderbolts* actor Wyatt Russell jokingly compared Marvel media training to that of being held at knife point; one wrong move and you’re done. If that’s the case, Tom Holland must have 9 lives, but he’s on his last legs. Check out how nervous he got when his Spider-Man co-stars seemingly came dangerously close to spoiling details about the Hulk in an interview with Fandango:

You can tell it’s not his first rodeo when it comes to avoiding spoilers, but it actually took the Uncharted actor quite a while to learn his lesson. Marvel found out early that Holland, then a fresh, excitable 20-year-old actor, didn’t know when to stop talking in interviews, so they sent Dr. Strange, veteran actor Benedict Cumberbatch, to act as a chaperone to Holland during the Avengers: Infinity War press tour. Of course, the Cherry actor still managed to spoil the cliffhanger of Infinity War during a live screening, revealing to audiences that he wasn’t really dead in the film.

The list goes on, and if you don’t believe me, there's a 13-minute compilation on YouTube of Tom Holland slipping up or narrowly dodging spoilers. I can’t imagine how much media training the poor guy has gone through, and he’s probably gotten countless lectures from Marvel and his agents. It looks like some of it has finally gotten through to him, and many fans, like @spideysbrie on X, were quick to pick up on it:

I would assume that most Marvel fans can agree that, besides the actual movies, the best part of this Spider-Man franchise is the real-life bestie dynamic between the three leads. Holland, Batalon, and Zendaya have all been on this journey together since Homecoming came out in 2017. It launched their careers, and of course, is how the couple Zendaya and Holland first met.

They’re bonded for life, and by now, these interviews together are second nature. Which means Batalon and The Drama actress are completely comfortable hilariously trying to bait Holland into revealing spoilers, and fans like @urganciosmile on X eat it up every time:

After the death of Aunt May and his mere presence ripping a hole in time and space, Peter Parker makes the difficult decision to save his friends and his timeline by having Dr. Strange erase his existence from everyone’s memory. There are a lot of unknowns heading into this fourth installment, and the trailers have only brought more questions, like ones regarding the Hulk and The Punisher’s involvement in this movie. The biggest question among fans has been Sadie Sink’s character, which has yet to be revealed in any context besides the fact that she has an important role.

I’m dying to know how the Stranger Things actress fits into all this, but unfortunately, Holland has been vigilant in keeping his mouth zipped. The Onward actor is almost out of the woods, and (almost) all will finally be revealed when Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters on July 31.

If you’re like me, a lifelong Spider-Man fan, you’re probably more than pumped because not only did we get a brand-new trailer for the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but we are also inching closer to its release on the 2026 movie schedule. As someone raised on Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man trilogy, I sometimes forget just how much “weight” comes with carrying the mantle of such a beloved character. Well, Tom Holland’s co-star and real-life partner Zendaya just reminded me by pointing out her favorite thing about him playing Spidey, and it has nothing to do with his onscreen persona.

In a chat with Fandango for the upcoming Spider-Man film, Zendaya explained that her favorite part of watching Holland be Spider-Man is not a stunt, a scene or even the way he plays Peter Parker. For her, it has everything to do with how he handles being Spidey off-screen. She explained:

What could have been a pretty standard answer to an interview question turned into one of the cutest possible images of the Uncharted star: dressed in his new head-to-toe red-and-blue spandex, meeting kids who do not see a movie star doing press but the real Spider-Man.

That is the part that really stands out to me. When I was growing up, I was always so excited about the new superhero movies, and I never thought much about whether the actors in those suits felt any responsibility beyond showing up and doing the job. You hoped they respected the character, sure, but you did not always imagine them carrying that responsibility into real life. According to Zendaya, Holland absolutely does.

That makes sense given how long the British actor has been tied to the role. Holland first appeared as Peter Parker in Captain America: Civil War before leading his own trilogy and becoming one of the emotional centers of the MCU’s post-Endgame era. He has grown up with this character in public, and fans have watched his Peter go from wide-eyed teenager to a young adult carrying a very lonely kind of grief after the ending of No Way Home.

Zendaya’s comments also add another layer to Brand New Day. After the spell that erased Peter from everyone’s memory, this next movie seems poised to follow the Wall-Crawler as he starts over without the safety net of the people who loved him. That is heavy material for a character who still means so much to kids.

Her answer quietly explains why Holland’s version has connected so strongly with fans, too. His Peter Parker has always felt sincere, sometimes painfully so. He is funny, awkward and brave, but he also feels like someone who understands that being a superhero means showing up for people even when no one knows your name.

In that way, Tom Holland feels like the living embodiment of the character, from Ben Parker’s “with great power comes great responsibility” to May’s “when you help someone, you help everyone.” You love to see it. And though he might have an idea who he wants to embody the character after he hangs it up, I hope that, given how much he cares about Spider-Man, it's not for some time.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters on July 31.

We are finally nearing the 2026 movie calendar release of Tom Holland’s fourth solo outing as Spidey in the upcoming Marvel movie Spider-Man: Brand New Day. So it may seem a bit premature to fan-cast the next web-head. However, Holland is already thinking about what the character's future could look like after he eventually hangs up the mask.

Holland recently spoke with Esquire and talked about putting the finishing touches on Brand New Day, calling it the best Spider-Man movie he and the team have made. He also described the new film as more of a mystery, with Peter Parker feeling lost and trying to figure out who he is. But the most interesting bit may be what he said about his long-term relationship with the franchise and who could follow in his footsteps. Per the actor:

That is an intriguing choice. Cooper, the young star of Adolescence, has become one of the buzziest younger actors around, and Holland clearly sees the appeal of giving Spider-Man to someone with fresh energy and serious talent. I personally love Cooper’s performance as Heathcliff in the first half of the controversial Wuthering Heights so, yes, he has the chops.

Tom Holland Wants To Help The Next Spider-Man

Coming from the Crowded Room star, that endorsement carries weight. He knows what it feels like to be the young British actor suddenly stepping into one of the most recognizable superhero roles on the planet.

The bigger context is that the Avengers actor is clearly thinking about legacy. In the same interview, he said he wants to stay involved with future Spider-Man movies after his tenure ends. He said he would love to be a producer, though getting that credit on future films may be difficult. More importantly, he said he wants to be for the next Spider-Man what Robert Downey Jr. was for him. He told Esquire:

That tracks with Marvel's take on Peter Parker and the actor's origin story. Downey’s Tony Stark helped introduce this version of Peter Parker in Captain America: Civil War, and their on-screen mentor relationship became one of the emotional pillars of Holland’s early run. Off-screen, he has often credited Downey with helping guide him through joining Marvel.

Next Spidey Should Swing In A Different Direction

As much as Cooper could work, I’d personally rather see the next Spidey be someone a bit more diverse. We have had three major live-action Peter Parkers in Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and Holland, and all three brought something different to the role. But the Spider-Verse is much bigger than Peter Parker.

Miles Morales feels like the obvious next step. The animated Spider-Verse movies have already proved audiences love him, and the character has become too important to stay animated forever. A live-action Miles would give Marvel and Sony a chance to expand the franchise without simply rebooting Peter.

There is also Spider-Gwen, or Ghost-Spider, who could bring a very different energy to the big screen. Emma Myers would be a particularly fun choice, and there have even been rumors that she could pop up in Brand New Day. She has the offbeat charm, sharp comedic timing and chaotic sincerity that could make Gwen Stacy feel fresh.

Depending on which Spider-person Marvel eventually chooses, plenty of young stars could fit the bill:

• Emma Myers as Spider-Gwen/Ghost-Spider.
• Iñaki Godoy as Miles Morales.
• Walker Scobell as a future Peter Parker or another Spider-variant.
• Mckenna Grace as a more science-minded Spider-Gwen.
• Owen Cooper, Holland’s own pick.
• Xochitl Gomez (who's already America Chavez in the main MCU) as Spider-Girl or a Spider-Verse wildcard.
• Ariana Greenblatt as Spider-Gwen or Mayday Parker.
• Dallas Liu as a grounded, scrappy Spider-variant.
• Priah Ferguson as a bold Spider-Verse pick.

The point is not that any of these castings need to happen. It is that Spider-Man’s future does not have to be another round of Peter Parker replacement math. The Spider-Verse is big enough for something new.

Brand New Day Still Belongs To Holland

Nobody should start packing Holland’s web-shooters away just yet. He admitted he had been on the fence about making a fourth movie after his original contract ended, but he came back and seems deeply invested in getting this one right. He even talked about listening to podcasts and watching fan videos to understand what audiences wanted from the suit and the story.

That feels fitting given where Brand New Day picks up emotionally. After No Way Home, Peter Parker is alone, erased from the memories of the people he loves and starting over. Holland's fourth solo movie appears to be exploring a more grown-up version of the character.

So, yes, the MCU veteran has a name in mind for the next actor to take on the mantle of Spidey. But, whenever the next person swings in, I hope Marvel thinks beyond another Peter Parker and hands the mask to someone new.

Before today, if someone had asked about my favorite thing about 2026 so far — more regarding pop culture than personal life — I’d almost definitely say Seth Rogen’s pitch-perfect Muppet Show revival special. It captured the spirit of the show and its troupe as splendidly as any Muppets project in the 21st century. But now it appears that will soon be eclipsed by a completely different kind of Muppets project: a crossover with Marvel’s superheroes.

That’s right, some of Jim Henson and Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s most beloved creations will be teaming up and/or squaring off for the first time in Marvel Comics’ upcoming one-shot special The Muppets Take The Marvel Universe, an obvious play on the 1984 film The Muppets Take Manhattan. (Which itself had a comic book adaptation published by Marvel.) The crossover doesn’t technically need a reason to exist, but it’s hitting stores in September to celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Muppet Show. Wokka wok-kanda! Things in Space! Captain Amahna-mahna-merica! The sky is the limit, people!

Okay, as far as what fans can actually expect, here's a breakdown for some of the various mash-up stories that'll be featured:

• The crossover kicks off with a story from writer Chip Zdarsky and artist Pete Woods, in which Rowlf gets dognapped by Mojo to help jumpstart his new streaming platform. Expect to see all the biggest characters, from Kermit and Miss Piggy to Spider-Man and Wolverine, as well as Black Panther, Emma Frost, Fozzie and more.
• Writer Kyle Starks and artist Mike Henderson head to Muppet Laps where Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker are testing an experiment with Bruce Banner and Hank Pym. Everything goes according to plan, and Beaker does not panic once. Orrr not.
• When Doctor Strange is unable to reverse the effects of a mystical virus plaguing Clea, he finds himself at the mercy of the Swedish Chef, with writer Ashley Allen and artist Paco Medina bringing this one to life.
• Writer MacKenzie Cadenhead and artist David Baldeon head into orbit for a Pigs in Space crossover with Rocket Raccoon and Groot.
• More stories will be included from Philip Kennedy Johnson, Adam F. Goldberg, E.J. Su and Áthila Fabbio.

Here's a fantastically self-aware statement from prolific comic scribe Chip Zdarsky:

He went on to say how pumped he is to write for Miss Piggy, whom Zdarsky considers "one of the greatest icons of the last hundred years, a character who speaks to every generation," before then saying "I also got to write Deadpool." Shots fired, Wade, even if the wounds aren't permanent. Sabrina Carpenter might not have such glowing compliments, though. Teehee.

You can bet I'll be preordering Mattew Lolli's variant cover paying homage to Muppet Treasure Island for its 30th anniversary. But the first page could be made out of toilet paper and it'd still be the best thing ever. Maybe not used toilet paper.

While I don't readily have expectations for this crossover comic book to lead to new projects being added to the lists of upcoming Marvel movies and upcoming Marvel TV shows, but I don't think it would hurt those odds if the one-shot ends up being a massive success. Even if it leads to a live-action one-shot like The Punisher: One Last Kill, or even something more akin to Bluey's mini-sodes, I'd welcome it all with open arms and retracted claws.

It's already been a big year for the Muppets, who also took over Disney World's Rock 'N' Roller Coaster for some musical thrills. So look forward to The Muppets Take The Marvel Universe hitting shelves on September 23, 2026.

It’s quite a year for Zendaya and Tom Holland, both on- and off-screen. As the longtime lovebirds are set to appear in two blockbusters hitting the 2026 movie calendar next month, speculation continues over whether or not they’ve already tied the knot. We can’t say for sure if they’re already officially calling each other “husband and wife,” but they certainly were couples goals at a recent Spider-Man: Brand New Day event.

Fans have been swooning over Tom Holland and Zendaya’s relationship for years now — from their comfortable interactions at a tennis tournament to the MCU actor saving his partner from a wardrobe malfunction. So it’s no surprise that as we swoon over how beautiful they looked together at Monday’s press event for the upcoming Spider-Man movie, what we’re really wondering about is that gold band on Zendaya’s ring finger.

The couple — who will both appear in The Odyssey on July 14 before Spider-Man: Brand New Day premieres two weeks later — got engaged in late 2024, with Holland’s dad spilling the details of his son’s proposal preparations. It was hard to miss that 5-carat rock Zendaya toted around on her left hand in the months that followed, but then all of a sudden, a new piece of jewelry had taken the sparker’s place.

A simple gold band replaced the diamond. That definitely got people talking, but not nearly as much as when Law Roach, Zendaya’s stylist and close friend, said during an interview at the Actor Awards in March that “the wedding already happened.” Oops?

No confirmation followed from Zendaya or Tom Holland, but that gold band was still on the actress’ finger days later at Paris Fashion Week, along with a silver ring that matched her hoop earrings. Indeed, it appears to be the same one she’s wearing at the Spider-Man: Brand New Day photocall, where she appears to be reaching toward Holland as everyone looks toward the sky.

We may not know if they really did have a secret wedding in Italy, as other anonymous sources have suggested, but this has to be a wedding ring, right? Zendaya may be appearing in four movies this year, but even if she wore a prop wedding ring for The Drama, there’s no reason we’d see her at events — especially with Tom Holland — wearing a wedding band that wasn’t her own jewelry.

Not that it really matters. Tom Holland joked that studios love getting him and Zendaya as a “package deal,” but that’s not exclusive to studios. We love the cute (if rare) comments the Challengers star makes about Holland, we love their matching tattoos, we love that they got to bring their dogs to the Spider-Man set, and we love how he is Zendaya’s biggest fan. Hell, I even love that their relationship is so sacred and worth protecting that they don’t share every detail of it with us.

Whether or not they’re legally married isn’t what actually matters, but that’s not going to keep me or anybody else from clocking Zendaya’s ring finger at every press appearance this summer. Hopefully that will be a lot, because I can’t get enough of these two.

Ahead of Holland’s appearance on Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast, the host spoke with his good buddy, Jacob Batalon, who showered Holland with plenty of love. Talk eventually turned to Holland’s habit of doing a lot of stuntwork, and Batalon seems to be impressed by his friend/co-star’s on-set feats. However, with Holland now having reached the age of 30, Batalon humorously discussed how things have changed just a bit:

Poehler shared that concern and hilariously asserted her intention to implore Holland to stop doing stunts altogether. From there, she and Batalon joked about there not needing to be any kind of big action scenes in the Spider-Man movies at all, with Poehler even quipping that Peter simply “learns to do his taxes” in a future movie. First and foremost, the thought of Tom Holland getting older makes me (someone who has a few years on him) feel even older. So, as I crack my back while thinking about that, I’m reminded of an iconic quote from a beloved action franchise. Based on the headline, some may have made a connection to the Lethal Weapon series. Those who’ve seen any of those films likely know that after anything crazy happens, Danny Glover’s Roger Murtaugh hilariously utters the following phrase:

Tom Holland obviously isn’t as old as Glover was when he played Murtaugh for the first time back in the mid-’80s, and Holland is also still in relatively good shape. However, the point about him starting to get a little old to do as many stunts is valid. While the British star has performed aerial work as Spider-Man and completed difficult stunts for Uncharted, even he’s admitted that his recovery time takes a little longer now. Just last year, Holland recalled attempting a backflip and, while he nailed it, he pulled every muscle in his stomach.

Even though Holland’s not quite as young as he used to be, BTS videos from Spider-Man: Brand New Day seem to suggest that he’s still committed to doing some stuntwork. I applaud the actor’s commitment, and I’m hopeful that it’ll contribute to what should be an action-packed film. Later in his interview with Poehler, though, Holland did admit that his desire to do stunts had “dwindled” due to him having an amazing stunt team. So maybe he’ll look to rein in just how much he does moving forward. We’ll see but, then again, we do live in a world where Tom Cruise still does massive stunts in his 60s and, given his drive, I’m not sure if he would consider himself too old for this sh… well, you get what I mean.

Spider-Man may be one of my favorite Marvel superheroes, however, I do not consider myself a superfan. I just know the basics of the character and his best movies. Nonetheless, I am a dedicated enough fan that I became excited about the idea of meeting a new version in Spider-Noir.

I only truly know about his existence because of the Into the Spider-Verse movies. The character stood out, so my curiosity made me wonder what Nicolas Cage would bring to this role. I enjoyed watching him as Ben Reilly, but the Spider-Noir villains really captured my attention.

Spider-Noir's Villains Have A Fascinating Origin Story That I Couldn't Stop Thinking About

Spider-Noir has a lot of mystery surrounding it. The first four episodes of Season 1 basically work as an introduction to Ben and this world. Spider-Noir Season 1 Episode 5, “Betrayal,” and Spider-Noir Season 1 Episode 6, “Nightmare on a Gurney,” dig into the origins of the birth of The Spider.

We were excited to learn that Ben would be Spider-Noir, not Peter Parker, because it meant Cage wouldn't have to emulate other Parker performances. The producers made a great decision because Cage brings his own flair and charm. His origin story was also a bit more fascinating than some of the other Spider-Man origins.

He was a victim of the war. Ben became The Spider by trying to save other soldiers. He accidentally got bitten by an infected man. It’s a variation of the old tale of Peter being bitten by a radioactive spider.

The war also made these men villains. Flint, aka Sandman (Jack Huston), Dirk, aka Megawatt (Andrew Lewis Caldwell), and Lonnie, aka Tombstone (Abraham Popoola), all received their powers because of experimentation during World War I. By giving them this backstory, it adds some commentary about wars.

All these men fought for their country and survived the war, but returned scarred, broken, and suffering. They become “monsters.” This seems to be Spider-Noir’s statement against war and how it uses these defenseless men, only to break them, sometimes beyond repair.

Superhero shows and movies often have deeper commentary than surface-level action, but this really stood out to me. I thought the show did a great job conveying this message without having to knock people over the head with it. We understand what the show was saying by having these men victims of experimentation by a corrupt government and system. Instead of being rewarded for their bravery, they were punished for it by becoming lab rats, who eventually had to become villains.

Cat And Flint's Love Story Was More Appealing Than Expected

Many of the best superhero movies explore love stories. The hero has one major love interest throughout their movies, or many love interests. However, until WandaVision, I wasn’t really invested in any of the Marvel love stories. Therefore, I wasn’t expecting to like Flint and Cat Hardy's (Li Jun Li) love story as much as I did. It wasn’t anything extraordinary. We have seen stories of the kept woman falling for the man tasked with watching over her before. Maybe it was simply Li and Huston’s chemistry that sucked me in.

Cat and Flint’s storyline proved that you don’t have to create a completely new concept of a love story to work. It just has to be compelling enough. I was on the edge of my seat, worried about whether they would end up together or not. Spider-Noir creates a love triangle with Cat, Ben, and Flint.

I immediately wondered if she was genuinely interested in Ben or using him. Thankfully, she was using him. They just didn’t work the way Flint and Cat did. I am sure Ben will have a long-term love interest eventually, if the show continues beyond the first season. This is one of the rare occasions where I am happy that the villain got the girl. Cat and Flint seem like soulmates. They understand each other like no one else.

One of the lines that stood out the most from Spider-Noir was when Cat said anyone could love her when she’s great. Flint loved her when she was at her most difficult. And isn’t that what everyone wants: someone who loves them at their worst?

Every Spider-Noir Season 1 Villain Feels Layered And Complex, Even If Not The Show's Main Focus

The Spider-Noir villains varied in their screentime. Flint and Silvermane (Brendan Gleeson) were the main villains. They took up most of the villain stories, but Dirk and Lonnie also had some fascinating plotlines. Dirk was shown the least. We didn’t really get to know him. He was just the typical, beyond being controlled, bad guy.

However, his love of the theater made him creepy but also intriguing. I wanted to know more about those dreams and what fully turned him into this person. We didn’t learn enough about him, but there were enough breadcrumbs to let us wonder who he was before all this supervillain mess. Maybe he was even another supervillain with justifiable motives. I doubt it, but maybe there is a chance.

Lonnie was the reluctant villain. He didn’t want to be one, but it was the only way to climb out of poverty. This made him the most sympathetic villain. Because he never fully leaned into that role, but did it out of necessity. Each of the Spider-Noir villains wasn’t treated as 1-dimensional bad guys. They had something that made them more human and layered.

The TV Show Really Felt Grounded In The Period Because Of Silvermane’s Mafia Boss Ties

I had never heard of Silvermane, but I was glad to see him as the main Spider-Noir evildoer. He wasn’t the scariest mobster, but you knew he wasn’t someone to mess with because of how much fear others had towards him. Mobster characters are always a bit scary because they are rooted in real-life.

We also naturally associate the mob with the 1920s through the 1950s. Therefore, it’s easy to get sucked into the time. Spider-Noir also makes it easy with the war elements, the costumes, and tributes to some of the best noir movies.

Lonnie And Robbie's Bond Added Some Racial Commentary That I Appreciated

Lonnie and Robbie (Lamorne Morris) instantly bond because there is an unspoken understanding as two Black men at a time when things are even harder for them. They even speak about this a bit when they first meet.

A lot of TV shows and movies now imagine a world without racism, prejudice, and discrimination. Some viewers don’t want to be reminded of the past or that injustices are still happening. I appreciate that Spider-Noir didn’t make it seem like Lonnie and Robbie felt treated like equals compared to their white counterparts. Lonnie went through a lot as one of the few Black people in his unit. It also isn’t easy for Robbie as a reporter. Spider-Noir doesn’t dwell on the prejudices that they face, but you feel it in the undertones.

That’s why it made their bond feel natural, real, and cathartic. Sometimes you can bond with people based on shared pain. Spider-Noir was one of the highly anticipated upcoming Spider-Man shows, and it doesn’t disappoint. Watch it through your Prime Video subscription.

The sequel will also excitingly feature the return of Mark Ruffalo as both Bruce Banner and Hulk, and it’s sounding more and more like the green behemoth will truly be bigger and badder than ever before. At least in live-action.

The latest quasi-update sorta-rumor suggests that the brainiac Hulk we’ve gotten used to over the years isn’t long for this world anymore, and that an evolution is imminent, even if it’s not exactly clear yet what’ll be behind the change. Specifically, industry insider MyTimeToShine took to X with what appears to be dialogue from Spider-Man: Brand New Day, though without any verifiable context about whether it came from an as-yet-unreleased trailer or as part of the script penned by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Whatever the case, here’s the post:

Before we dive into sophomoric hysterics, let's actually view this line through the lens of canonical reality. Without knowing exactly what's happening in this alleged movie moment, we can only make assumptions, but it does sound like Bruce will be changing into something that goes beyond the Hulk we've seen at any point previously in the MCU. Something that one might call...savage.

Not that fans are completely in the dark about the potential emergence of Savage Hulk in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Set photos have implied Bruce goes through some kind of medical situation, but then Savage Hulk’s arrival was possibly spoiled by toy announcements. That's right, plural. First with a toy mask, and then with an action figure. Still, toy spoilers don't always turn out to be the most dependable, so we're still keeping a grain of salt here.

But I mean, come on. We're getting Savage Hulk, right? LOOK ME IN THE EYE AND TELL ME WE AREN'T, MARK RUFFALO!

He can't do it! He just can't do it. So that's proof, right?

Is it wrong to want to see Hulk and Jon Bernthal's Punisher square off? After seeing the vigilante destroy so many people in the standalone special One Last Kill, I'd love to watch Frank Castle trying to strategize taking down a giant green monster. But if Spidey's aforementioned comment is made calmly, maybe the bigger-than-normal Hulk won't be completely out of control right away.

Outside of any and all elation related to Savage Hulk's potential appearance, the alleged Spider-Man quote above inspired quite a few commenters to skew amusingly perverse, with multiple followers posting various GIFs of The Office's Michael Scott delivering his signature "That's what she said." Other reactionary GIFs were also posted of Dan Levy, The Boys' Homelander, Mr. Bean and more.

And yeah, at least one person was all about seeing Spider-Man and Hulk hooking up. It's a slippery slope. But I guess if Peter and MJ are splitting up...

He went on to say that if he had asked another actor if the scene was working, it probably wouldn’t have gone over well. And that likely would have meant that this big and important change didn’t happen.

Since he’s in a relationship with Zendaya, they know each other so well that they’re able to communicate in a way that people who are only colleagues might not be able to. So, thank goodness they’re actually a couple, because now we’ll get this scene in Spider-Man: Brand New Day that “sings.”

In the past, Zendaya has spoken about Holland being her “favorite” person to work with, and in 2026 alone, they’ll be in two movies together, Spider-Man: Brand New Day and The Odyssey. So, it’s clear they have a rapport, both in a personal and professional sense, that benefits them and the projects they work on.

Now, to see these two back together on screen, you can watch The Odyssey in theaters on July 17. And then to see them return as Peter and MJ, you can catch Spider-Man: Brand New Day (and this scene that was changed because of their relationship) in theaters on July 31.

After everything those two went through, Peter choosing to let MJ and Ned forget him felt heroic, sure, but also like watching someone gently shut a door on my little Spider-heart. Apparently, Zendaya is right there with us as she opens up about being in her “feels” about Peter and MJ’s split in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Speaking with Empire for its July issue about her 2026 movie calendar release, the actress opened up about where Peter and MJ stand after Doctor Strange’s spell erased Peter Parker from everyone’s memory. And yes, she knows exactly how painful that split feels for fans who just wanted these two kids to catch one single break. She explained:

That is the part that hurts, right? It is not that Peter and MJ stopped caring about each other. It is not that they had some messy breakup over college, distance or the kinds of things that normal young relationships go through. Their relationship was torn apart by a spell Peter agreed to, believing it would keep the people he loved safe. That is peak Peter Parker tragedy.

No Way Home ended with Tom Holland’s Peter visiting MJ at the coffee shop where she worked, only to realize she and Ned were better off without him re-entering their lives. It was a quiet, painful little scene after a movie full of MCU multiverse chaos, leaving Peter fully alone as Spider-Man.

What makes Brand New Day especially interesting is that MJ’s side of the relationship has been reset, at least from her perspective. She does not share the same emotional history as Peter, which creates a strange acting challenge for Zendaya. She continued:

That is fascinating and also deeply upsetting. For MJ, Peter is not her boyfriend who sacrificed their future. He is, presumably, just some guy. But for Peter, she is still MJ. She is still the person who knew him, loved him and was there for the most impossible parts of his life.

Reportedly, MJ has another romantic interest in Brand New Day, played by Ahsoka actor Eman Esfandi. Which, emotionally speaking, feels like somebody kicked Peter Parker in the ribs while he was already down.

That said, it also sounds like MJ and Spider-Man will still cross paths in the upcoming superhero movie. It seems the pair will somehow pair up, while Spidey does his neighborhood Spidey heroics, which could give the movie a very different dynamic from the earlier trilogy. MJ may not know Peter, but she knows Spider-Man exists. That opens the door to all kinds of painful dramatic irony, with Peter trying to protect someone who does not remember why he would do so.

The best thing about Zendaya’s comments is that she clearly cares about the emotional continuity, even when the character technically does not remember it. That gives me hope Brand New Day will not treat Peter and MJ’s separation like a simple plot reset. It sounds like the heartbreak is the point.

Putting Jon Bernthal’s Punisher into the Tom Holland-led Spider-Man: Brand New Day always sounded both exciting and mildly terrifying. Frank Castle is not exactly the kind of guy who usually plays well inside the brightly lit moral framework of a friendly upcoming superhero movie. Frank's more “broken bones in an alley” than “quippy web swing past the deli.” That is why Holland’s latest comments on Spider-Man: Brand New Day have me feeling better about the whole thing.

While speaking with Empire Magazine for its July 2026 cover story, Holland addressed concerns about bringing an R-rated character into Peter Parker’s world, and it sounds like the movie is not sanding Frank down into a Disney-safe action figure. According to Holland:

That is exactly what I wanted to hear. The fear was never really that Punisher would appear in a Spider-Man movie. On paper, that dynamic has a ton of potential. I mean, it's worked for decades in the comic books. The fear was that the MCU’s next big-screen entry might bring him in, file off the uglier edges and turn him into a grumpy guest star who just scowls while Peter learns another lesson about responsibility.

Holland also teased that there are “fun ways” to get around the fact that Frank swears and kills people, which is a very funny sentence to say about one of Marvel’s most violent characters. But, hey, at least it's clear the filmmakers are aware of the tonal problem instead of pretending it doesn’t exist.

The best part is that Bernthal’s own comments make Frank sound as emotionally wrecked and stubborn as ever. He is not describing a softer Punisher who suddenly wants to join Peter Parker’s neighborhood watch. He is describing a man who has made a home out of the hole he is in. He added:

That is the sweet spot. Frank should not become Peter’s pal. He should make Peter uncomfortable. He should force Spider-Man to confront the ugly endpoint of grief, rage and vigilante justice. Peter saves people because he believes responsibility means restraint. Frank punishes people because restraint is the thing he buried with the rest of his life. That contrast could really work, especially after Spider-Man: No Way Home's ending set up Peter as isolated and having to start over.

Bernthal recently returned as Frank Castle in Daredevil: Born Again and The Punisher: One Last Kill, streaming with a Disney+ subscription, which kept the character rooted in the darker, street-level corner of Marvel. One Last Kill does not directly set up Brand New Day, but it does leave Frank in full Punisher mode ahead of his appearance in the next new Spider-Man film, which is definitely exciting.

It’s been almost a year without any upcoming Marvel movies being released, but that’s about to change later this summer with Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The movie not only follows Tom Holland’s Peter Parker after the events of No Way Home, but it also features all sorts of Marvel characters, including the return of Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner/Hulk. Now, one popular theory about the return of the original Avenger seems to be very likely after a new merch drop.

Ever since Mark Ruffalo was spotted on the set of Brand New Day shooting a scene where he looked disoriented on a stretcher, fans have been thinking that this is the movie where Bruce Banner finally loses control of Hulk again. Now, a new Marvel figurine of Hulk connected to the new Spider-Man movie may confirm fans’ thoughts. Per France Figurines’ description of their product:

Oops! Now, this isn’t the first time a piece of merch has allegedly spoiled this. News of Hasbro’s Savage Hulk Talk’n Electronic Mask also pointed fans in the same direction.

We’re still a couple of months out from Spider-Man: Brand New Day, so we don’t imagine this aspect of the film was supposed to be out in the world, but it very much is. There have been no official images of Bruce Banner in Hulk form in Brand New Day, so we can’t be completely sure the movie will have this, but it definitely solidly places the storyline in that direction, and it's an exciting possibility.

When we first met Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner in Avengers, he didn’t have control of his other form – which is known as Savage Hulk. But as the movies went along, he found a way to balance his two sides, notably by debuting his Smart Hulk form in Avengers: Endgame. And in She-Hulk, we learned that he created something called the Hulk Inhibitor Device that allows him to change form at his will, which he wears in the footage we’ve seen of him from Brand New Day thus far.

Since not only Bruce Banner, but Punisher will be in Brand New Day, and both have storylines that are specifically connected to anger, fans have already been talking about how it might inform the upcoming movie. When we catch up with Spider-Man, he’s lost a lot. His friends don’t remember him, and he’s still dealing with the grief of losing Aunt May. While it’s becoming clearer every day that we’ll see a Hulk out in Brand New Day, it’s still yet to be seen how these characters will all tie together. The new Spider-Man movie comes out on July 31!

The next highly anticipated upcoming Marvel movie hitting theaters is Destin Daniel Cretton's Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which will be Tom Holland's fourth solo movie as Peter Parker. And the 29-year-old actor said he wants to emulate Robert Downey Jr. for whatever actor becomes a wall crawler in future projects.

Fans who spent years watching the Marvel movies in order have seen Tom Holland become a megastar as a result of his tenure as Peter Parker. But it all started when he was cast in Captain America: Civil War, with many of his early scenes shared with Oscar-winner RDJ. In an interview with Empire about Brand New Day, Holland shared his hopes for the franchise's future, offering:

I mean, how sweet is that? While it's unclear if/when Spider-Gwen or Miles Morales will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Holland wants to take a page out of Downey's book and help to welcome and mentor them. We'll just have to wait and see whether or not this happens, and how long the Uncharted actor ends up playing Peter Parker in the shared universe.

As aww-inducing as Holland's comments are, they also might concern Marvel fans. Is he approaching his exit from the shared universe, and therefore thinking about passing the baton to another actor? It's unclear, but suddenly the stakes for the next Spider-Man movie feel even higher.

Tom Holland's mentee relationship with Robert Downey Jr. in many ways echoed Peter Parker's connection with Tony Stark within the MCU. This may be why their chemistry was so electric, and why Iron Man's death scene hit so hard during Avengers: Endgame.

Shortly after Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse hit theaters (and won an Academy Award) fans have been begging to see both Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen go to live-action in the MCU. Unfortunately, there's been no indication that the studio is making this a priority. But who knows? We're still waiting to hear who Sadie Sink is playing in Brand New Day.

All will be revealed when Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters on July 31st as part of the 2026 movie release list. With the movie just a few months away, hopefully we get more footage and information about that blockbuster soon.

As Spider-Man: Brand New Day's release gets closer on the 2026 movie schedule, J.K. Simmons is going viral for his recent run-in with the hero at a baseball game. While the J. Jonah Jameson actor didn't react quite as strongly as his fictional counterpart might have to seeing the webslinger, his reaction was perfection.

Simmons was seen at a New York Mets game on the Jumbotron, with a familiar Marvel superhero hanging out just behind him. I feel reasonably safe in assuming it wasn't Tom Holland in costume behind him, but I loved the moment all the same. Check it out:

Isn't that the best? Of course, Simmons wasn't going to blow a fuse like the real Jameson would've done if the real Spider-Man was just hanging out behind him, but the closed fist wave was all he needed to effectively sell the moment.

Of course, J. Jonah Jameson's feud with Spider-Man hasn't been quite as substantial in the MCU, as Tom Holland admitted he still has yet to meet Simmons in person. Sam Raimi's films, the comics, and, of course, the animated shows available with a Disney+ subscription did a lot of the heavy lifting in making this moment so great for Mets fans who know Jameson despises the webslinger.

At the moment, we don't know if J.K. Simmons will return as Jameson in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but I hope he does. Back when he was head of The Daily Bugle, Peter Parker was able to get a job as a photographer taking photos of Spider-Man. Is there an opening for Parker to work for Jameson at his new outlet, maybe providing GoPro footage or something of that nature?

There is an opening for Parker to get a new mentor or confidant, with Iron Man out of the picture and Jon Favreau confirming Happy won't be a part of the story. Honestly, I'd love the subversion of expectation if J. Jonah Jameson ended up being a great friend to Peter Parker. However, something tells me that no matter the universe, those two will always have a tense relationship.

Relationships seem to be a key point of interest in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, as Peter adapts to a new life in which everyone has forgotten he existed. MJ and Ned have forgotten their shared ride-or-die friendships and past adventures, and I'm curious how Peter has coped with that while still fulfilling his duties as Spider-Man. Of course, there's no shortage of action either, as we've seen in clips.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will swing into theaters on July 31. I'm excited to see how this adventure shakes out, especially with Avengers: Doomsday coming up after. However, right now, I'm living for the shenanigans the webslinger is getting into at the baseball park.
