Continuing the trend that everything old becomes new again, the early aughts are being heavily represented in American Eagle’s latest jeans line. Sydney Sweeney looks great in low rise, but I feel it’s only a matter of time before the whale tale trend makes a comeback, and I am very much not looking forward to it.

Meanwhile, Sydney Sweeney has made a lot of fashion splashes in the last 12 months outside of people getting angry about her wearing jeans for a campaign she literally had no control over. She and Amanda Seyfried “dressed to kill” for The Housemaid press tour, and then she was a long, cool woman in a black dress a few months later for Euphoria. She’s also been excellent at cross-promoting, wearing corsets on the red carpet before creating one for her own lingerie brand.

The actress has been down under filming Gundam this summer, but she does have a large swathe of additional projects coming up. I doubt we’ll see her in jeans on the red carpet, though I do appreciate a casual carpet event, but we should see her trying her hand at more celebrity fashion trends in the coming months. I’m just going to keep my fingers crossed that thongs don’t start making a major reappearance.

Sydney Sweeney is living her best life in Australia. The actress returned to the country where Anyone But You shot back in May. She’s spent the summer there filming the new live action Gundam movie, and by every pic I’ve seen, the entire experience looks delightful. In fact, her recent photodump is all bikini days, picnics filled with real food options, and living what looks to be her best life with Scooter Braun, whom she's been dating since shortly after she was seen at Jeff Bezos' wedding in 2025.

As much as I’m here for Sydney Sweeney’s summer bikini life, I just think her “little Aussie dump” of summer moments is so charming. The picnic date with the pizza and the pasta is supreme. There’s a separate photo of her and (what is likely) beau Scooter Braun recreating the very cringe moment she and Glen Powell tried to do the “I’m flying” scene from Titanic. So, essentially it’s a nod to a film that is already nodding at a film. Go ahead and try to unpack that.

Gundam’s been in production since late April, but Sweeney didn’t drop a look at her new digs or her view of the Sydney opera house until early May. It’s been a couple of months since that moment, and honestly this is the closest thing we’ve gotten to an update on the upcoming Netflix film in a few weeks.

Well, it would appear that the businesswoman and mother of four recently treated herself to a truly sweet piece of automotive machinery. Kardashian recently purchased a vintage Bronco, which is a move that mirrors one made by Sydney Sweeney. However, in Kardashian’s case, the price for this restored piece of work was quite steep.

Kardashian (45) specifically bought a 1973 forest green Ford Bronco, and she seems to be loving it so far. The starlet recently took to her Instagram to share photos of the utility vehicle, which she reportedly wants for exclusive use at her summer home in the mountains of Idaho. It’s an excellent-looking ride based on the photos Kardashian shared and, in her caption, she also thanked the company that sold it to her, Velocity Restorations. To say that Kardashian spared no expense for the SVU would be an understatement, as she reportedly bought it for a whopping $285,000, per TMZ. What made that purchase so expensive was that the Florida-based Velocity completely restored the truck, souping it up with all the bells and whistles. It apparently has a “Ranger Brown” interior, classic wood steering wheel, high-back seats and even a classic air-conditioning system. I’d imagine that such a description could make longtime car lovers nostalgic (and a bit envious).

It would seem that the Kardashians star also has brother-in-law Travis Barker (who married her sister, Kourtney, in 2022) for this purchase. The Blink-182 drummer apparently made Kim aware of Velocity, which apparently had this particular Bronco ready for immediate delivery. The truck was only just recently moved to Idaho after initially being shipped to Los Angeles, and I have to say it looks great against the green scenery in the area.

Still, the way in which the billionaire SKIMS founder procured her Ford vehicle is a far cry from how Sydney Sweeney (28) obtained hers. The actress, who recently concluded her run on Euphoria, bought her 1969 Bronco in 2020 for $48,000 at an auction, and then she proceeded to restore it herself. Per a report, that brought her investment up to roughly $150,000, which still isn’t as high as Kardashian’s purchase. Sweeny talks about her classic car fondly and, during her downtime from acting, she continues to work on it.

There’s something quite cool about the fact that Sweeney took the time to restore her car herself, as that’s definitely no small feat. But, due to the level of difficulty in doing that, I can understand Kardashian opting to go for a car that was already restored. In other words, there are different strokes for different folks. And, regardless of how the pair got their Ford vehicles, they can both relish in the fact that they own a sweet piece of automotive history.

When it comes to Kim Kardashian, what I’m wondering now is whether she’ll let boyfriend Lewis Hamilton (41) drive her new Bronco a bit. The man is, after all, a celebrated Formula One driver and lover of cars. If anything, Kardashian’s new truck could potentially serve as another bonding element for her and her beau. (That’s, of course, just an assumption, though.) However Kardashian and Sydney Sweeney choose to use their Broncos, I just hope they’ll (safely) enjoy them.

There's been a ton of chatter about Cassie's OnlyFans storyline, and now the creator/director/writer has shared why he made that bold narrative choice.

There was backlash to Euphoria's OnlyFans story immediately after the episodes began airing, once gain proving why the show is a HBO show that got the world talking. Levinson recently appeared on Real Time with Bill Maher, where he opened up about why he made Cassie into a OF creator. He started by saying:

Sydney Sweeney has already stepped into the wider Marvel orbit once with 2024’s punching-bag Madame Web, but a rumor suggests she may get another shot at a new superhero movie. And this time, if the chatter is even close to accurate, the fit could be much more interesting.

According to SuperHeroHype, industry scooper MyTimeToShineHello recently claimed Sweeney is being eyed for a role in Marvel Studios’ upcoming X-Men reboot. The outlet notes that Marvel has not confirmed the claim, and neither she nor the studio has publicly addressed it, so this should be treated as a rumor with a giant comic-book-sized grain of salt. Still, it follows earlier speculation that Marvel was interested in the in-demand actress for Emma Frost, which is where things get especially fun.

The Rumor Is Still Very Unconfirmed

The big thing here is that nothing is official. Marvel has not announced any actors for X-Men, and we do not even have a full cast of announced mutants for the reboot yet. The project is reportedly in development with Jake Schreier attached to direct, while Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo are reportedly writing the screenplay. But Marvel is still keeping the mutant cards close to the vest.

That said, the timing makes sense. The MCU is inching closer to properly bringing the X-Men into the fold, and fan casting has been running wild for years. After the Fox-era mutants dominated the big screen for more than two decades and are rumored to be making a swan song in Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel has a tricky job ahead: find actors who can make these characters feel familiar yet stand on their own.

Sweeney would certainly bring attention. She is one of the most talked-about actors of her generation, with Euphoria, The White Lotus, Anyone But You and a growing list of film projects behind her. She also knows what it feels like to be attached to a new Marvel movie, even if it's not in the official MCU, that becomes the internet’s punchline, given her role in Sony’s Madame Web.

Emma Frost Feels Like The Obvious Fit

If Marvel really is circling Sweeney, Emma Frost feels like the cleanest match. The character has all the ingredients that would play to her strengths: glamour, menace, intelligence, vulnerability and the ability to weaponize a room without raising her voice. Emma is not just “the pretty telepath in white.” She is a former villain, a teacher, a strategist and one of the most complicated figures in X-Men lore.

That kind of role would let Sweeney lean into the icy, polished exterior she can play so well, while also giving her room to show the bruises underneath. Her best performances often work because she can make a character seem both controlled and quietly unraveling. That is basically Emma Frost’s emotional operating system.

It's not like Emma would be making her big-screen debut. The character has already appeared twice in Fox's X-Men movies. She had a brief appearance in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which, let's just say, is not exactly remembered as the franchise's finest hour. Then January Jones played a version of the character in X-Men: First Class. While I love that movie overall, Jones' Emma never quite clicked for me, making her one of the few weak spots in an otherwise terrific film. In other words, Emma Frost feels like a character that could absolutely benefit from another shot.

There are other possibilities, of course:

• Polaris — Magneto's daughter with magnetic powers who often brings a more emotionally complicated perspective to mutant politics.
• Dazzler — A pop star who converts sound into light and energy blasts, making her one of Marvel's strangest celebrity superheroes.
• Spiral — A six-armed sorceress and master strategist with deep ties to the X-Men's weirder cosmic stories.
• Sage — A mutant with computer-like mental abilities who serves as one of the X-Men's most underrated intelligence experts.
• Boom-Boom — A rebellious prankster who creates explosive energy spheres and brings a chaotic edge to any team.
• Stacy X — A former mutant entertainer whose pheromone-based powers make her one of the franchise's most unconventional characters.

Still, Emma is the one that feels like the cleanest fit without needing to reinvent the character.

This Could Be A Better Marvel Lane Than Madame Web

The funny thing is that the Anyone but You actress has technically already been in a Marvel-based movie, but Madame Web was not part of the MCU and did not give her much of a real superhero runway. That film became more famous for the memes than for launching its characters.

An MCU X-Men role would be a very different situation. The mutants are some of Marvel’s richest characters, and the reboot will almost certainly be treated as a major pillar of the franchise going forward. If The Housemaid star gets the right role, she would not just be joining another superhero movie. She could be stepping into a character with real staying power.

Again, this is all rumor for now. Marvel may go in a completely different direction, and Sydney Sweeney may never end up near the X-Mansion. But if the studio is actually looking at her for the mutant corner of the MCU, I get it.

And while Euphoria's series finale was controversial, the 29-year-old actress's performance has once again been universally acclaimed. And with the final season in the rearview, folks are invested in whether or not the Dune actress gets yet another Emmy for her portrayal of Rue.

In my opinion, I definitely think that Zendaya deserves another Emmy for the third season of Euphoria. Despite some complaints about the season, she expertly slipped back into character and balanced both humor and the high-stakes drama of Rue's role in organized crime. Her performance in the controversial finale was particularly strong, and I think that might be the episode that's submitted for Emmy consideration. Either way, it's clear that the internet is paying attention and invested in her possibly scoring a third trophy.

While there were rumors about Zendaya having beef with Sydney Sweeney, the real truth is that both actresses' careers are thriving. And there's been no actual evidence of bad blood; it's mostly fans reading into their interactions (or lack thereof) on the red carpet.

There are popular film franchises, and then there are the James Bond movies. Moviegoers have been following 007 for decades, with entire generations brought up on the MI6 agent's adventures. Since No Time To Die's ending killed off Daniel Craig's version of the hero, fans have been curious about which actors might help reboot the series. Sydney Sweeney has been a popular fan choice to be the next actress to play a Bond Girl, but another star has just topped her in the online odds.

What we know about Bond 26 is very limited, but the film is in active development by Amazon MGM. The pressure in on to deliver after Daniel Craig's Bond movies, which were wildly successful. No casting has been announced, but the prediction market Kalshi (via SHH) recently updated its standings, and The Substance actress Margaret Qualley has taken the top spot over Sydney Sweeney.

Of course, this is no actual guarantee that either actress will actually be cast. But the internet seems to think that Qualley is the most likely choice to join Denis Villeneuve's developing Bond movie. Both she and Sydney Sweeney are wildly popular and have the resumes to support them joining 007 on his next mission. Qualley is an incredibly captivating (and physical) actor, so there's no doubt in my mind she would be great. We'll just have to wait and see who gets to be in the Dune director's spy movie.

She's also a black belt in grappling and has experience kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. That, combined with her star power, makes her seem like a great choice for a Bond Girl.

As for Margaret Qualley, she's a two-time Golden Globe nominee who has been in acclaimed TV and film work. Her role in The Substance helped make her a household name, even though she was snubbed from an Oscar nomination for the body horror film. Qualley is another big star who would likely help get butts in seats if she were to join Bond 26, and is a versatile talent that I know would crush in a Bond movie.

Overall, not much is known about what Denis Villeneuve has up his sleeve for his forthcoming Bond movie. He's obviously busy working on Dune: Part Three right now, but his schedule should presumably be freed up after its release in December. Some moviegoers were concerned when Amazon got the rights to the James Bond franchise, although the acclaimed filmmaker's involvement has helped to quell some fears. But casting is a total mystery at the time of writing this story.

It's currently unclear when Bond 26 will hit theaters, but Dune: Part Three will have that honor on December 18th as part of the 2026 movie release list.

In the chat, Levinson specifically praised Sweeney for adapting when her role in a key scene changed on the day of shooting. He explained:

That feels like a pretty accurate description of what the Madame Web alum has been doing with her character from the very show's beginning. Cassie can be heartbreaking, ridiculously frustrating, and funny in the same scene... sometimes in the same breath. It’s not always graceful, but that has always been part of the point. Cassie is not a graceful character. She is a person who wants love so badly that she keeps sprinting directly into the emotional wood chipper.

Season 3 seems to understand that, maybe too well for some viewers. One of the biggest talking points has been Cassie’s move toward adult content creation, along with her wedding to Nate, a sequence that is Euphoria operating at full fever pitch. The season has also drawn attention for its wardrobe malfunctions, with the team behind the sexually explicit HBO Max series reportedly deciding to lean into Sweeney’s real-life nip slips during filming. For some fans, that was one more sign that the show has lost the plot.

He also admitted he writes every season like it’s the last season, which makes sense, but again, doesn’t really confirm or deny that he’s planning a fourth season. However, Forbes pointed out that HBO may have just revealed that Season 4 is on the way.

The Finale Isn't Being Promoted As The End

The advertising that HBO has put together for the drama's upcoming May episodes labels the impending Season 3 finale of Euphoria as simply the “season finale.” That may not seem like much, but other shows like Hacks and The Comeback, which are confirmed to be ending, have their concluding eps specifically noted as being “series finale.”

That distinction may just be because nothing official has been announced pointing towards Euphoria Season 3 being the final season. Still, it does give viewers some hope.

Season 3 Viewership Is Higher Than It Was For Season 2

Additionally, even with the four-year delay, the Season 3 premiere saw viewership rise by 44% from the Season 2 premiere. It’s even more impressive given the reviews for Euphoria’s third season were pretty disappointing. At this point, it’s really anyone’s guess as to whether another season is in the works, and it very well may not even be formally announced until after the finale drops on May 31.

As a fan of Euphoria since Day 1 and someone who absolutely hated the long delay, I personally wouldn’t mind seeing the show wrapped up after Season 3, especially if the stories are all basically wrapped up. Plus, following the deaths of Angus Cloud and Eric Dane, it would be better to just wrap up.

It’s unknown when the announcement from HBO will come, either confirming that Season 3 is the final season or that Season 4 is in the works. It wouldn’t be surprising if Season 3 was truly the final season, especially since much of the cast are bona fide movie stars now.

For now, fans will just have to watch the new season of Euphoria on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO and HBO Max while waiting to hear about the future.

In the time since they’ve been together, Braun and Sweeney have only been seen in public together a handful of times, which aligns with their reported desire for privacy. That outing more so represented downtime for the couple but, on a more formal note, they also recently attended the premiere of Euphoria Season 3. When the two went Instagram official, Braun actually shared a photo from that event on his stories, which showed him and Sweeney looking quite content.

All the while, insiders continue to drop alleged details about the interpersonal dynamics between Sweeney and Braun. Now, however, she’s set to star in Gundam, the live-action upcoming Netflix movie that is filming in Queensland, Australia. It’s based on the Japanese franchise that’s been around for a long time, and is being made by Legendary.

Netflix announced a couple of weeks ago that “production had mobilized” on the project, and Sweeney commemorated her arrival in Sydney with a fun post of the most iconic landmark, the Sydney Opera House.

They are doing less to get my hyped about Gundam, however, and more to make me want an Anyone But You sequel.

Honestly, Sweeney and Glen Powell have both been asked about collaborating with one another again, and they’ve talked about the potential to do a different rom-com, but they've also been coy about a sequel. I'm still hoping there's a storyline where they could split up and meet up again years later or another couple could go through something similar and they are the side characters. I dunno, my brain is spinning. I just enjoy Anyone But You so much, and before I realized this was Gundam-related, my brain went full into “what if” mode.

Gundam does sound cool. The long-gestating project is about rival pilots in a space war. It stars Sweeney, Noah Centineo and Jackson White. It’s like a military science fiction movie, but it sounds like there may also be a star-crossed romance. This has been a trendy plotline with romantasy fans lately, as books like Silver Elite and more sort of dive into military sci-fi plots. So, it’s on trend, and I’m interested to see how it plays out.

At the end of the day, no matter the reason Ms. Sweeney is back in Sydney, I’m glad she got the chance to putz around and go back to a place that was clearly a career-defining moment for her. Now, once Gundam is done, maybe we can think about Anyone But You round 2.

While over on the 2026 TV schedule, Sydney Sweeney’s Euphoria character, Cassie, had a very lavish wedding with Nate in the series’ latest episode, the actress was kicking it at Stagecoach. At the California country music festival, she hosted her own pop-up honky-tonk bar in support of her new lingerie brand, SYRN, and it looks like it was the place to be.

It’s been a few days since the SYRN saloon closed its doors after being very active this past weekend during Stagecoach, but Sydney Sweeney just got around to posting about her time there. Check out her highlights:

In Sweeney’s Instagram post, you can see her partying and passionately singing with Dan + Shay, Chase Rice, Bailey Zimmerman, Riley Green, Diplo, Shaboozey and NSYNC’s Lance Bass. This is seriously such a great idea to bring more attention to her brand, and have a great time while doing it.

Whoa, looks like she was quite the host! The saloon was lined with SYRN lingerie on the ceilings, and the walls were all about the karaoke all weekend long, and it clearly was a blast. For those who could make it into the saloon, they might have been treated to a daily panty toss, old-school bar names and special guests not only including Sydney Sweeney, but some of the fest’s big acts.

Per one guest of Sydney Sweeney’s saloon (via Elite Daily), there were also themed drinks called a “Just Peachy Palmer” and a “Made You Look Margarita.” And, at the bar, there were two buckets where guests could put tips in, one that said “a**” and another that said “titties”. One Instagram post for the experience wasn’t enough for Sweeney either. She also shared these photos heavily featuring her man, Scooter Braun:

The couple went Instagram official earlier this month, and are apparently the “real deal” after it was thought they were just having a fling at first. Along with hosting her own saloon, it looks like Sweeney very much had time to enjoy Stagecoach’s performances and have a “cowboy kind of weekend.”

From Cassie and Nate’s messy ceremony full of wardrobe malfunctions, to its tribute to Angus Cloud, the return of Eric Dane’s character or that viral Sydney Sweeney fart video?! Too, too much. But what about the wedding itself, how did production pull it off, and did it reach that $50k on flowers ultimatum Cassie said she wanted in the show?

Euphoria’s production designer François Audouy just spilled the details! Apparently, the HBO show really did go all out on the wedding. Here’s what’s going on with the flowers per Audouy's comments to The Wrap:

There were so many florals on that set that their vendor cleaned out all the local farms in Southern California and “multiple countries” with the particular florals they needed. Flowers were even flown in from Miami, Ecuador and Amsterdam to complete the vision. The production designer claims they bought out the entire L.A. floral market within their color palette. Sorry might be in order for any weddings like it happening in the immediate area!

For the production designer, it all started with nailing the color scheme which ended up being a lot of blushes, pinks and creams. Audouy said he actually “color sampled shrimp” because he thought the color would fit perfectly within the show’s vision of an “over the top” wedding. As he also shared:

The flowers in Nate and Cassie’s wedding ceremony amounted to over 10k stems including 2.8k roses but wait there’s more! That number doesn’t even get into the reception which had 14.8 stems including 4.6k roses. And the florals was just one aspect of the ridiculous wedding.

The production team also commissioned 10 sculptures of the Euphoria couple, 10 for the shrimp buffet and 10 ice luges as well. As far as the inspiration, he looked a lot at social media to get into the mindset of Cassie. In his words:

Filming the actual wedding episode was shot across nine days. Creator Sam Levinson called shooting the episode “a blast” but also quite “complicated” to get done considering how many cast members were at set all at once. Euphoria really went all out, and we’re so curious what’s coming next as the season continues to air on Sundays on the 2026 TV schedule.

The long-awaited third season of Euphoria is finally underway, with new episodes hitting the 2026 TV calendar every Sunday night, but its return hasn’t come without some bumps in the road. I’m talking specifically about those rumors of beef between Sydney Sweeney and Zendaya and the controversy surrounding Sweeney’s character Cassie. However, I’m not sure any of that matters too much, if the actress is right about how many people are watching.

Sydney Sweeney reposted a Euphoria-related headline to her Instagram Stories that states the Season 3 premiere surpassed 20 million viewers around the world. You can see image below:

The post from Warner Bros. — which features an image of another Euphoria star, Alexa Demie — claims that the more than 20 million eyeballs beats Season 2’s premiere numbers by 68%. WB’s original post says Episode 2 matched the premiere, drawing in approximately 8.5 million viewers in the United States in its first three days. That’s pretty impressive.

It makes sense that people would tune in. In addition to everyone who watched the first two seasons in real time, the show had four full years to encourage anyone with an HBO Max subscription to get caught up before its (possible) final season. So although the Euphoria Season 3 reviews were harsher than I expected them to be, I can see viewers sticking with it, if for no other reason, just to see it through.

Even before people started complaining about the seasons’s big changes, though, rumors were circulating about a rift between Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney — two of the series’ biggest stars.

A video of the cast was shared on social media that featured the two actresses mentioned above, as well as Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie and Maude Apatow. When the ladies gathered for a group shot, however, Sydney Sweeney was not there, fueling rumors from the past that differing political views have caused a “bitter feud” between her and the Dune actress. They also didn’t pose together at the premiere, with sources alleging it would be bad optics for Zendaya.

Then there’s the on-screen drama that has apparently been turning some fans away — and inspiring real-life OnlyFans stars to speak out. Part of Sydney Sweeney’s character’s story is that she starts an OF account, where she dresses up as a baby and sucks on a pacifier. The UK, where OnlyFans was founded, is actually looking into laws that would criminalize such controversial “age play,” but even without a ban in place, many viewers didn’t like it.

There’s already been a lot of talk about Sydney Sweeney in Season 3 of Euphoria, and we’re only two episodes into the long-awaited third and (maybe) final season of the series. A lot of this has to do with the time jump and the actress’ character Cassie making money in an OnlyFans capacity. Even some real platform stars have weighed in on the role in the NSFW HBO Max series, and it turns out, what the HBO show is portraying is even more complicated in real life.

I wouldn’t blame you if you aren’t super familiar with the ins and outs of the subscription platform Euphoria is portraying, but actually there’s a real-life wrinkle to Cassie's story in Season 3. The UK is cracking down on rules that may impact OF content, and this specifically ties in with a scene we’ve already seen on the show.

You probably can infer what I’m talking about, but I will be getting into minor plot spoilers in this paragraph. At one point Sydney Sweeney dons a baby-inspired outfit and sucks on a pacifier in a much-discussed TV moment. It’s a scene that drew controversy when it aired, and per new rules, it’s the type of content that may get completely banned.

That type of content is described as “Age Play” and (per the UK) it may soon have ramifications. The new laws would specifically crackdown on adults pretending to be younger than they and would lead that content to be criminalized. This will reportedly start with criminalizing possession with the UK government noting further amendments would “criminalize publication” of the materials, as well. OF is actually hosted in London and is subject to UK laws as part of its global audience. In the near future, Cassie would perhaps have to look at different types of content for her burgeoning gig.

Obviously, the scene in question was already controversial when it came out. Factions of the Internet have talked widely about it, and many don’t seem happy. Separately, even Sydney Sweeney herself has said that nudity sometimes overshadows the good work she’s doing in Hollywood, and it’s been a bit of an out-of-body experience for her.

Euphoria has obviously never shied away from tough subjects. The honest portrayals of addiction have not been easy to watch, and the way the entire series has played out has been uncomfortable from start to the present. It’s important to note the actors are not their characters, despite that being a battle Ms. Sweeney says she sometimes has to face. Yet, I still wouldn't necessarily have expected the stories on the show to translate to real-life bans.

New episodes of Euphoria hit the TV schedule on Sunday nights on HBO and for anyone with an HBO Max subscription. We've seen clips from Episode 3, which very much will have a focus on Cassie and her wedding.

With the cast going on to do bigger and bolder things (Zendaya has Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Dune: Part Three coming up while Ms. Sweeney has The Housemaid sequel and Gundam), it’s the end of an era, but it’s certainly an era that has a lot of people talking.

Euphoria Season 3 is off to a rocking start on the 2026 TV schedule, with big updates on each character now that they're out of high school and out into the real world. Cassie and Nate ended up together, and with an expensive wedding on the horizon, she received his reluctant permission to start an OnlyFans account to make extra money. It's not a surprise that one of the most sexually explicit shows on HBO Max has this storyline, but I am curious about how an actual OF star feels about Sydney Sweeney's portrayal of the industry.

Bonnie Locket and other OnlyFans creators shared their thoughts with Us Weekly, and weighed in on some of the things Cassie's said about joining the platform. Locket talked about what Euphoria and other shows get wrong about the subscription-based platform, and how much more involved it is than people realize:

In fairness to Euphoria, the latest episode featured a lot of what Locket mentioned through Maddy. Cassie and her ex-best friend reunited to reconcile and talk business, and she told her why posting nudes on OnlyFans wasn't enough to make tons of money. Social media followings, knowing the right people, and promotion are key, and while Cassie may be "prettier" than others making far more, she wasn't doing the other stuff that matters.

Bonnie Locket and other OnlyFans creators went on to say the show does capture the emotional side of things, such as vulnerability and judgment. The latter was seen especially when Nate had to contend with co-workers and his father (played by the late Eric Dane) judging him for "allowing" Cassie to create an account. He ended up forcing her to close the account, promising to spend as much on flowers as she wanted if she'd stop.

Whether she'll actually stop is a great question, especially now that she's reconciled with Maddie. The latter is desperate to elevate her status as an agent, and she has a proven track record of getting another creator a big payday. Cassie could be her ticket to the big time, and as we've seen in past seasons, she knows how to manipulate Cassie (and Nate) to get what she wants.

I also think it's worth thinking about what Cassie wants. While the Euphoria character initially seemed to be in it solely for flowers, it also felt like there was a want on her end to have financial independence and an ability to provide. Partnering with Maddie could help her reach that next level, but at what cost? I can only imagine this is going to cause further issues within her relationship.

While the scenes in Euphoria can be sexually graphic, Sydney Sweeney has stated that there are lots of covers and steps taken for her not to feel that way during filming. She also said that she doesn't see the content as her own "nudes" but rather the nudes of the characters that she portrays.

The actress has filmed nudity for the NSFW HBO Max show before, but she’s said it’s always been a bit of an out-of-body experience. What does she mean by that? She means filming for Cassie doesn’t feel like the same thing as having her own literal OnlyFans page.

The actress actually touched on this situation related to her Euphoria character, and explained that she is separate from the characters she's portrayed that have engaged in intimate scenes. It feels like such an obvious thing to note as I’m typing it out here, but obviously if Sweeney had to go on the record about it, it’s not that obvious to everyone. She told Grazia:

In short, it’s character work. Yet, not everyone seems to see it that way.

Sweeney’s been candid about the fact that others have trouble separating her from her characters. She previously spoke about online hate she’s received for playing Cassie before, and said at the time fans really see her as the character, and not her own independent person, a person who has also played Christy Martin, starred in rom-coms and produced a lot of her own work.

Why Filming Intimate Scenes Is Not As Interesting As It Looks

Sydney Sweeney notes there’s a “double standard” applied when women get nude in Hollywood projects versus men (though it’s worth noting full-frontal nudity and prosthetic penises are still definitely topics of discussion when they come up). She’s said because she agreed to do nudity to play Cassie, she’s had trouble “getting past that' in Hollywood. She also clarified that filming intimate scenes or nude scenes is not nearly as romantic as it may look on screen.

There are people around, it’s uncomfortable, there are intimacy coordinators dictating movements if actors get aroused, and finally, you aren’t really nude. At least, not fully, per Sydney Sweeney.

I’ll never forget the moment the Fifty Shades of Grey cast spoke about filming intimate in the buff and Jamie Dornan brought up the idea of a “wee bag” that covered his private parts. Honestly, at this point it’s certainly unglamorous to know how these scenes are shot. Because of this, it's easy to see how actors are able to keep their characters and the work they do separate from their personal lives. Their take on filming is very different than what we see onscreen.

Since “The Summer of Glen” in 2024 cemented Glen Powell’s status in Hollywood, the man has continued to make as many movies as possible. In the process, he's worked with a number of leading ladies. Of course, fans can't forget his Set It Up co-star, Zoey Deutch, and she actually just revealed she had a great SNL idea for Powell involving them two of them and his other former female leads, Sydney Sweeney and Daisy Edgar-Jones.

Glen Powell’s wish to host SNL came true when he joined the lineup as one of the hosts of season 51 back in November. He did a great job headlining the episode of the sketch comedy series, and did have some wild ideas like bringing his UPS driver to the show. But, after hearing what Zoey Deutch told ET about her idea for that episode, I really need Powell to host again:

There’s no argument about that! Deutch was indeed the first leading lady to work with Powell before Sweeney and Edgar-Jones did. Powell wasn't as big of a name when he worked on 2018's Set It Up (which is streaming with a Netflix subscription). The movie saw Powell and Deutch play two assistants trying to set their bosses up with each other without realizing they were falling for each other in the process. The film is so sweet and has developed a following.

Post Top Gun: Maverick fame, he worked with the other two rom-com co-stars on Anyone but You and Twisters, respectively.

Quite frankly, I love Deutch's idea for that SNL sketch, and I've enjoyed the comments she's shared about her co-star in the years since they've collaborated. She previously joked about Powell moving onto other rom-coms after theirs and said, “Stop cheating on me, Glen!” Also, the pair have expressed interest in collaborating on another rom-com. If such a project were to happen and one of them hosted Saturday Night Live, a variation of Deutch's sketch idea would be perfect.

Of course, I'd argue that part of what adds to the appeal of Powell’s movies is the undeniable chemistry he shares with his female co-stars. Such chemistry is palpable between him and Sweeney in Anyone But You. The bond between him and Edgar-Jones in Twisters is also sweet (though I'm a bit annoyed that their kiss scene at the end was cut.)

I'd also give a shoutout to Jayme Lawson, who plays Powell's wife in Edgar Wright's The Running Man. So, if there's any kind of meet-up between Powell's on-screen partners, she definitely deserves to be part of that as well.

Let’s cross our fingers that Zoey Deutch’s idea for Glen Powell’s leading ladies to join him in an SNL sketch comes true. I'm already chuckling over the many comedic possibilities that such a sketch could deliver. After its premiere, Euphoria joined the ranks of HBO shows that got the world talking, with the cast becoming household names in the process. Critics had the opportunity to screen the first three of the final eight episodes (or are they?), and so far the response is a lot rougher than I expected. Maybe there’s more to that viral Euphoria tweet than fans would like to admit, with critics calling the show “lazy,” “creepy,” and a “stark disappointment.”

With so many of the Euphoria actors exploding in Hollywood over the past four years, it’s impressive that creator Sam Levinson even managed to rally the troops; I don’t even know how Zendaya fit it into her schedule. Even so, the story still needs to satisfy, and according to Lauren Sarner of the New York Post, it’s an “unhinged disaster.” The Euphoria Season 3 review reads:

The above critic says that to Sam Levinson, being an adult apparently means “nearly all of them are involved in sex work, crime” or both. Eleanor Halls of The Telegraph co-signs this statement, saying the writer has “gone full pervert” by trapping all of the female leads in exploitative sex work, leering at them through his camera. Not even Zendaya can save Euphoria Season 3 from descending into “one man’s creepy, sex-obsessed fantasy.” Halls continues:

Alyssa Mora of IGN rates the first three episodes a “Bad” 4 out of 10, saying the characters have been reduced to their most defining traits without the depth that made them interesting in previous seasons. Worse yet, Mora says even with everything this “wannabe crime drama” throws at us, it’s still “kind of boring.” The review reads:

Ben Travers of IndieWire gives it a C-, asking, “How could Euphoria become boring?” One issue, Travers says, is that taking the characters out of the classroom strips them of the relatability that made the drama so frightening. The critic continues:

Alison Herman of Variety is a tad more lenient in her Euphoria review, disagreeing with other critics to say this show could never be boring. It’s still “bombastic, stylish” and full of cutting humor. Unlike the first two, however, Season 3 feels untethered in its first three episodes. Herman writes:

The first third of Euphoria Season 3 has garnered the series just 45% on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics noting strange Breaking Bad vibes, characters not acting like themselves and an off-the-rails feeling that it never had in its high school setting.

Honestly, sign me up. While Paul Feig seems down to see Sydney Sweeney in a Bond movie, he wants her to be a fellow spy rather than a civilian/love interest for 007. And given her work ethic and years of experience with kickboxing and grappling, points were made. Plus she did fight choreography in Christy as well as the infamous Madame Web movie (which is streaming with a Netflix subscription).

Feig worked closely with Sweeney on The Housemaid, which became a megahit upon its release. A sequel was already been ordered, which means that pair will once again be collaborating. Halle Berry famously did this as Jinx in Die Another Day, while Michelle Yeoh kicked some serious ass in Tomorrow Never Dies. We're just days away from the premiere of Season 3, but will it be the final chapter? Here's what Levinson and Sydney Sweeney recently said.

Season 3 of Euphoria is almost here, which will air on HBO and stream for those with a HBO Max subscription. Fans are hyped for its return, especially since it's been a whopping four years since Season 2 was out. Zendaya recently hinted that the third season may be its last, and in an interview with ET at the premiere, Levinson addressed that possibility by saying:

Sam Levinson seems prepared if it should end, but editing on the final few episodes of Season 3 is still happening. As far as book to screen adaptations go, Paul Feig's The Housemaid was a massive hit. Screenings had people yelling in theaters, and the 2025 mystery film made a whopping $398 million on a reported budget of $35 million, with tons of folks heading to theaters to see Amanda Seyfried and Sydney Sweeney face off. The film is now streaming, and I went back to re-watch it and clocked a cameo that was confirmed by Feig to CinemaBlend months ago.

The Housemaid crushed at the box office, and now the movie is streamable for those with a STARZ subscription. As you can see in the video above, I had the chance to speak with Paul Feig ahead of its release, where I asked about a blink-and-you'll-miss-it cameo by the filmmaker himself. He confirmed I caught it, telling me:

Feig spoke about the challenges of The Housemaid, and that includes the slick way that he brought himself to the project. In the movie Sydney Sweeney is shown watching TV, which features footage of the director/actor in I Am David. It's a cute way that Feig got to appear in the project, where he was mostly the man behind the camera. And now fans can re-watch the film and pause it on that moment.

The Housemaid's ending left things open for more stories, which was a smart move considering that a sequel is already in development. Kirsten Dunst will join the burgeoning franchise in the follow-up film, and it should be fascinating to see how the story is expanded, and if its different than the second novel The Housemaid's Secret. We'll just have to wait and see if Feig manages to sneak in another cameo in that highly anticipated project.

Possibly my favorite trend in movie discourse over the past couple of years is the practice of “name meshing” names of major 2026 movie schedule entries when they’re hitting theaters on the same day. The last few years have seen the epic double feature Barbie + Oppenheimer’s Barbenheimber. (And Wicked + Gladiator II’s Glicked or Wadiator, if you’re nasty.) Now, fans are trolling the nickname potential of three major movies going head-to-head on the 2027 movie schedule: Avengers: Secret Wars, The Lord of the Rings: Hunt for Gollum, and Sydney Sweeney’s The Housemaid's Secret.

Fans Mashup Three Major 2027 Release Names

Over on X, movie news account @screentime pointed out the fact that three of the biggest movies of 2027 are releasing on the same day: December 17, 2027. And, in no time at all, fans chose violence, making some of the greatest name mashups I’ve seen. Here are a few standouts:

• @KashimTenshi: "Lord of the Wars: The Hunt For More Housewives.”
• @cjfairbanks1: "Avengers: The Hunt For Gollum's Housewives'
• @KashimTenshi: "Avengers: The Hunt For Gollum's Secret.”

These are all good but, hands down, my favorite finds a way to perfectly meld all three titles satisfyingly. Here is the best one in my view:

• @BitCityVidal: "Housemaid's Secret Wars: The Hunt for Gollum.”

Obviously, this is all in good fun. But it does beg the question, what will the mesh-up name be, because you know it's coming. Gollum Avenges His Secret Housemaid? Overly wordy. Avengers: Housemaid War For Gollum? That ain't it. Avengers: Secret Housewives of Middle-earth? SecretGollummaid? “Brilliant… Cut, print, check the gate, moving on.”

While these combinations are fun, it's worth considering the bigger picture. Three major blockbusters on the same day is pretty intense and could have real ramifications if they actually hit their target release. That is a pretty big if. Let’s break it down.

Why These Release Dates Will Probably Change

There are a ton of fans having fun at the expense of Avengers: Secret Wars, The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum and the upcoming The Housemaid's Secret by giving them mashup names. Still, there are just as many folks who feel pretty sure that this triple feature will not come to pass. Here is what some of the naysayers have to say:

• @QuestionStan23: "It’s kinda funny that the only one that I believe in actually making this release date is the Housemaid 2.”
• @kirbysLastSnack: “LOL. These three are not all coming out on the same date. Ain’t happening no matter how hard people try to convince themselves they can all three thrive in the current PLFs-or die theatrical environment.”
• @DudesomeTim: "Yeah, Housemaid is cooked."

Some reactions seem negative, but there’s logic behind the skepticism. Three major movies on one weekend could force audiences to choose, cannibalizing ticket sales and making it unlikely all three will thrive—the main point: the nickname debate reveals uncertainty about this unique movie moment.

Then there’s the fact that both Hunt for Gollum and Avengers have already shifted their release dates before, with the former originally scheduled for 2026 before being pushed to 2027, and the latter moving multiple times as Marvel shifts its movie release schedule for various reasons. This isn’t uncommon for major studio movies with extensive visual effects. For technical reasons, I don't expect these two movies to make the deadline.

What does this mean? Well, if I were you, I wouldn’t print up those SecretGollummaid shirts just yet, because I tend to agree that the only movie I’m confident to hit that December 17, 2027, release date is The Housemaid’s Secret, which just added Kirsten Dunst to its cast and has me even more excited for the sequel. However, I’ve been wrong before, so maybe all three movies will make it to their planned date with no problems. I guess we will just have to see how things shake out.

Sydney Sweeney just came off a biopic about Christy Martin in which she went from Size 23 to Size 27 jeans in order to pull off looking like the real-life boxer. It was quite the transformation, and she seemed to enjoy the process. So, it’s not a huge surprise she has another biopic coming up again. This time, however, the woman she’s set to portray doesn’t think she has the right body to pull off the role.

Kim Novak, the 93-year-old actress known for roles in Vertigo and Kiss Me, Stupid, came to prominence in the 1950s and 1960s, landing awards nods early for Phffft in 1954. In the ‘60s she took a step back and largely retired from acting, but a new movie will look into her then-taboo relationship with Sammy Davis Jr. in 1957, a relationship that ended when Novak says the studio threatened Davis Jr. until he agreed to back off her and marry a Black woman.

Sydney Sweeney is set to play the actress in the film, but Novak is not happy about the casting:

It’s Sweeney’s curves that Novak largely objects to. And it’s true that Sweeney has channeled Marilyn Monroe quite a bit more than she’s channeled the slender Novak, even recently while promoting The Housemaid. Beyond that, though, they are both blonde bombshells of a similar age at the time Novak was dating Sammy Davis Jr.

In a longer profile with The Times Of London, the actress admitted the studios kept her on a tight leash during the decades she filmed. She said Columbia Pictures’ boss at the time, Harry Cohn, would have people “follow” her to make sure she wasn’t wasting her “time talking to the person who was selling hot dogs.” As a result of constantly monitoring her weight, she wasn’t curvy. Ms. Sweeney very much is.

The biopic, Scandalous, has been announced, but it’s unclear when it will move forward, as Sydney Sweeney has press for the upcoming Euphoria Season 3 and filming on the book-to-screen adaptation The Housemaid 2 coming up. Then, there’s the Barbarella movie and Gundam, which she’s filming with Noah Centineo. Her dance card is quite full. yet, Novak would prefer the role go to someone else.

Elsewhere in the interview, Novak said her iconic role in Vertigo came about because she was trying to prove she was more than just a pretty face in Hollywood.

I think she and Ms. Sweeney may have more in common than Ms. Novak might think.

She’s turned heads with daring choices, like that time she tried out a butt necklace on the red carpet. She’s famous for looking great in a corset, and wore a pretty silver look to promote The Housemaid. She’s got a full glam team to help her look her best, but she recognizes her fans don’t always have the same opportunities. So, she wanted to bring corsets into regular homes.

Sweeney is the mastermind behind and the face of her new lingerie brand Syrn. The brand’s aesthetic varies wildly by line, but they all roll under the tagline “Do what makes you naked.” It’s been successful for the actress and entrepreneur, selling out its first batch in a number of hours. More stuff is coming down the pipeline, however, and that includes the perfect black date night corset.

Per Sweeney, she really wanted a top that could dress up a casual look for a night out without having to go too fancy. She knows we aren’t all out there getting gussied up for the red carpet on the regular, and in her personal life, she’d prefer to be dressed this way, too, stating her new black corset was a “date night go-to.”

Speaking with US Magazine, the actress spoke out about how corset tops are not created equal. Many that are mass marketed are flimsy and cheap, and she wanted a piece of shapewear that could really make an everyday outfit stand out.

What she really wants to do is get out there and create fits that work on a wide variety of bodies. As a curvy woman herself, she knows that a lot of looks don’t fit in exactly the right place. Or, at least not have to spend a fortune in order to get some sort of customized fit.

Sweeney also said around the time of Syrn’s launch that she didn’t want to be “talking at” the women she was branding to and wanted a lingerie line with a lot of different styles and looks that would appeal to different types of women, and women who go about their lives in different situations all the time.

The actress and producer has been extremely hands on with the line, and has worn it many times on her social channels and more. Syrn itself is growing, and has released new lines since it first appeared online. So, treating lingerie like “fingerprints,” and putting together something for everyone, seems like a solid plan.

Others, like Christy, have been big swings that were maybe (or maybe not?) flops. Yet, the actress has continued to take risks, and it's clearly paying off.

Just when we started to get used to seeing 25-year-old influencer Alix Earle pop up at all the same parties and events as 48-year-old Tom Brady, it seems the latter may have turned his attention to someone closer to his own age. The athlete-turned-broadcaster and Yael Cohen Braun, 39, were allegedly “huddled up at the bar together” at a party for ex-NFL star Tony Gonzalez, hosted by Gonzalez’s ex Lauren Sánchez.

(Incidentally, getting to have your birthday party at the home of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez is the best argument I’ve heard yet for staying friends with your ex. But back to the Tom Brady of it all …)

After spies said Tom Brady and Yael Cohen Braun spent the night getting cozy, the pair also reportedly left the party together.

Yael was married to Scooter Braun for seven years before they separated in 2021, but don’t expect the music mogul to be jealous over his ex-wife’s potential new connection. According to TMZ, Braun is apparently “unbothered” by the recent news and considers Tom Brady a good guy.

In fact, Tom Brady and Scooter Braun hung out together when they were both in Italy for Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s wedding. Strangely enough, rumors swirled about Sydney Sweeney kicking off a romance with Brady at the time, when it was really Braun who had her eye at the Italian nuptials. (Hollywood just feels more and more like a game of Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon, doesn’t it?)

Of course, we don’t know what — if anything — is going on between Tom Brady and Yael Cohen Braun, or if this might mean the end of the big three-month question mark about his relationship with the Dancing with the Stars runner-up.

Sources have suggested that Alix Earle kept in touch with the retired QB following their New Year’s Eve flirt fest, and while neither of them has confirmed or denied that, they have shown up at several of the same events, including the College Football Playoff National Championship, the Super Bowl and its related parties, and most recently, the opening of the Zero Bond club in Las Vegas.

Tom Brady has been connected to many women since his divorce from Gisele Bündchen in 2022. Alix Earle, meanwhile, broke up with Houston Texans wide receiver Braxton Berrios, 30, in December after two years of dating.

As we inch closer to being able to watch Euphoria Season 3 with an HBO Max subscription, the promo for the show seems to be kicking into gear. And I say that because one day ago, the series’ Instagram account posted the following video:

Now, as you can see, Sweeney was in the video, but she was not in the shot with her fellow Euphoria cast members, Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie and Maude Apatow. People really noticed her absence, too. In the comments, they noted that while sharing their own opinions on the alleged state of the relationship between the Dune and Anyone But You actresses, specifically:

Now, we can neither confirm nor deny the state of the relationship between Sweeney and Zendaya. However, according to Page Six, a source alleged that this video was filmed while Euphoria was in production, and the Cassie actress was busy working on a scene when the clip of the four women was filmed for the social media video.

So, it would seem it was simply a scheduling conflict. However, there is a history of rumors regarding Sweeney and Zendaya that has potentially added fuel to the rumored feud fire.

There Have Been Rumors In The Past About Sydney Sweeney And Zendaya Not Getting Along

For some background, last year, rumors were going around that there was a rift between Sydney Sweeney and Zendaya. The Daily Mail reported that the two were in a “bitter feud” and alleged that they wouldn’t sit near each other during events. Apparently, this was caused by very different political views.

The report went on to allege that Sweeny has Republican views, and Zendaya is upset about that. Apparently, she was refusing to do press calls with her.

None of this is confirmed. However, the report notably came out as filming on Ephoria Season 3 was wrapping up and as Sweeney’s American Eagle “good jeans” campaign was receiving backlash. In the months since that campaign, the Immaculate actress has been dealing with that negative response while also releasing movies like The Housemaid, which was a box office success.

All around, take all this with a grain of salt. Apparently, the reason Sweeney and Zendaya didn’t share the screen in this new video comes down to scheduling. Perhaps the biggest example of this was when she had a campaign with American Eagle that had the tagline “Sydney Sweeney has great jeans.” In response, people claimed it was promoting eugenics and was too hypersexualized in nature. Sweeney responded to the backlash by saying she was “surprised by the reaction” and clarified that “many have assigned motives and labels to me that just aren’t true.”

I really enjoyed The Housemaid book. Therefore, I was looking forward to watching the movie. It was one of my main book-to-screen adaptations that I could not wait to watch. However, I did wait. I only recently saw it.

I know there are many differences between the movie and the book. However, I think it’s a fairly faithful adaptation, at least in terms of the major elements. Therefore, I enjoyed the movie almost as much as the book. The film also made one particular piece of the story stand out more. The Housemaid is basically a twisted fairytale.

The Housemaid Explores Why Cinderella's Story May Not Be Ideal

The Housemaid reminds me of the classic Cinderella story. It’s the idea of a young woman being saved by a handsome prince. The woman is Nina (Amanda Seyfried) and the prince is Andrew (Brandon Sklenar). We never learn what happens to Cinderella after the happily ever after, but we doubt the prince becomes a psychopath who tortures and torments Cinderella. If he does, this puts all those great Cinderella adaptations into question.

However, the concept of the Cinderella story has always been idolized. People love the idea of a handsome man coming around and sweeping someone away from a life of misfortune. The Housemaid plays on that idea but flips it on its head. Andrew is not the prince who is promised. He’s a nightmare.

Nina’s story is unfortunately a reality that many people face. They meet a man who seems perfect, but then he abuses them in various ways. The Housemaid is a film about the emotional and physical damage of domestic abuse, and that’s why playing on the concept of the Cinderella story makes it such a stronger message.

Many want the story of an attractive guy saving them, but what happens when he traps you in an even worse life and situation?

It Breaks Down The Prince Charming Myth

Everyone loves and wants Andrew. He’s handsome, seems nice, and is rich. He appears to be the perfect guy. However, if you look closer, you notice some less-than-princely qualities. He’s basically a nepo baby with mommy issues..

He is not that great when you look past the surface level. However, most people only see the good looks, money, and nice guy persona. Many people also seem like the ideal partner until the masks start to fall. Their partners learn more about their true intentions.

So many people look great on paper, but in practice are a mess. The Housemaid emphasizes not putting anyone on a pedestal. No one will be as great as they seem in the beginning. You can either love who they actually are or release them to find someone else who can love them fully.

Hopefully, most people learn not to idolize their toxic or emotionally damaging mates. Andrew is an extreme example of this concept. He’s not only far from being a prince, but he’s psychotic. The perfect partner doesn’t exist, but hopefully, they aren’t a monster who keeps you hostage and ruins your reputation.

Good guys exist, but there are no perfect princes.

The Housemaid Is A Complicated Rags To Riches Storyline That Emphasizes Making Your Own Way

Nina is a smart, capable woman who doesn’t need Andrew, but he enters her life at a time when she’s especially vulnerable. This allows her to ignore some red flags. She also wants to believe that good things are finally happening. Nina goes from barely getting by to being the wife of a rich man. It’s a classic rags-to-riches story. Unlike Cinderella, she isn’t completely down on her luck.

However, she’s desperate enough to only see the good in Andrew at the start of their relationship. Millie (Sydney Sweeney) also becomes a victim of the desire for a better life. Andrew seems like the perfect guy because of how he treats Nina, who seems crazy. Andrew seems great, but he engages in some bad behavior.

He easily cheats on Nina, so that should have immediately let Millie know that he’s not this dream man. However, Millie may be more seduced by the lifestyle he can provide than the man himself. She’s been through a lot, and she’s still young, so it’s easy to see how a man such as Andrew could seem like a great option. His money plays a huge role in his appeal.

Nina and Millie go from riches to rags, but they likely live happier, healthier lives than they did with Andrew. Sometimes it’s better to take the long road to success if it means freedom.

It Has Many Cinderella Aspects, Including Wicked Mothers

Andrew’s mother is a stand-in for the wicked stepmother. We know that most of Andrew’s problems revolve around her. It’s also implied that she abused him as a child. He internalized that abuse and became just like her.

Then you have the other rich women who gossip and judge Nina. Those could be substitute stepsisters. The other fascinating way Cinderella and The Housemaid are alike is that the servants help Nina escape her abuser, just as they help Cinderella make it to the ball.

Enzo (Michele Morrone) plays a huge role in helping Nina escape Andrew. Millie is also the one who acts as the biggest piece in destroying Andrew. She’s Nina’s fairy godmother in a way (who isn’t technically a servant but kind of, as her main goal is to help Cinderella). There are also moments in the film, like Millie getting to dress up, that have the whole fairytale angle but without the fairytale ending.

The Film Works Better To Convey This Idea Than The Book, But The Book Sells Other Parts Better

The Housemaid had to make some changes to make the movie work. Some of them don’t necessarily succeed. For example, Andrew isn’t as obviously nefarious in the book as he is in the movie. You sense his deception from the start. He is harder to get a read on in the book.

I like the book Andrew better because if you’re not paying attention, he may trick you too. I never felt that with the movie version. However, I didn’t really connect the idea of a twisted fairytale and The Housemaid until watching the movie.

The glamour of this lifestyle works best on screen. You also notice how Nina’s story is the classic Cinderella story, but in a dark way. It’s a cautionary tale to not trust men who seem too good.

I can’t wait to watch The Housemaid sequel and see if Nina’s story continues in some way.

I have to admit the imagery of Sydney Sweeney slowly peeling off pieces (only to reveal more lingerie underneath) while a clock ticks urgently in the background is just the right kind of contradiction.

Either way, no complaints here, and I can only imagine that when the “comfy collection” of SYRN underwear drops March 4, it will sell out in a matter of hours, just like her first drop did.

It’s been an encouraging month for female-driven stories. Wuthering Heights absolutely dominated this week, marking one of the biggest weekends at the box office in 2026 so far. Bridgerton Season 4 Part 1 is still making us swoon near the top of Netflix’s Top 10 list a few weeks in. Plus, The Housemaid is still hitting new heights, and Sydney Sweeney seems quite amped up about it.

When The Housemaid hit $300 million globally about a month ago, I honestly expected that to be the end of the milestones for the fun flick. It had been in theaters for over a month since its December 19th movie release date at that point, and I never expected the movie to have as long of legs as it’s truly had. Which brings me to mid-February, when Sydney Sweeney celebrated The Housemaid hitting $375 million.

Where is that number coming from? Reporting outlets have the film just under that milestone marker (around $360 million) right now when it comes to traditional box office, but Sweeney’s post also nodded at Lionsgate Home, which currently has the movie available to watch at home on VOD. Apparently, the flick’s been picking up moolah in the millions via secondary viewing platforms -- and that money goes right into the studio's pocket.
