With that, we’ve seen the oft-twinning blonde designers get along like gangbusters on screen and off, to the point where fans have been calling for them to pair up as a flipping team for Season 2, and they’ve shown that they’re on board for the idea. So, I can totally see these teases as a way to cover for the fact that this is the exact direction they’ve gone in for the new episodes.

Also, not for nothing, but Tarek did make some solid points a while back when talking about why working Larocca into the series so soon might not be a good idea. Basically, even though the businessman is clearly happy to be involved in social media posts, Larocca isn’t a practiced TV star or used to filming a reality show at all. So, it could still be a tricky proposition to jump right into a television series, even though he’d likely be paired with his home renovation-expert girlfriend.

I much prefer the idea that everyone is trying to keep the surprise of a Christina/Heather team alive for Season 2, but we’ll just have to wait to find out if that’s what’s really going on here.

The decision was made to continue production without Hall, and while he may not have been featured much in Season 1, their split was an ongoing storyline.

Josh Hall actually only appeared in the season premiere, but fans were not upset to see him go, after an argument led to Hall saying on camera that Christina Haack was “pissing [him] off.” Haack has since opened up about how Tarek El Moussa helped her navigate not just the situation with HGTV but off-camera following the fight that ended her third marriage.

The show ended up being a success and has been renewed for a second season.

Christina Haack Marks One-Year Anniversary With New Beau

In the months following her split from Josh Hall, Christina Haack began dating CEO Chris Larocca, and she’s been singing his praises on social media as she navigates romance with a “clear head” post-divorce #3. Haack marked their latest milestone on Instagram with a throwback photo of the two and a sweet message:

Don’t you love when your chips and salsa comes with a side of hot new man? Things may be going swimmingly for the not-so-new-anymore couple, but don’t expect to see him on The Flip Off Season 2 — at least in any official capacity. Christina Haack will again face Tarek and Heather Rae El Moussa as a party of one.

Of course, she did that last season, too, and all three of her ex-husbands still appeared on the show in some capacity (her second ex Ant Anstead served as the judge on one of the episodes).

Chris Lerocca very well could appear on the HGTV series in support of his girlfriend, but as Tarek El Moussa pointed out, joining as Christina Haack’s teammate would be “challenging,” given that he has no experience on-camera or with flipping houses. That makes sense, and I have to imagine Lerocca is fine staying in his lane and letting Heather Rae El Moussa continue being the mediator between the former spouses.

But while the Flip or Flop alums always seem to be at each other’s throats on-screen, the pair are actually very close in real life, and Haack got candid about the huge way El Moussa was there for her during her breakup from Josh Hall — both in regards to The Flip Off and off-camera.

Fans of HGTV’s The Flip Off got a peek into the end of Christina Haack and Josh Hall’s marriage in the Season 1 premiere (available to stream with an HBO Max subscription), when Hall said his wife was “pissing [him] off” while filming. Later in the episode Haack mentions an argument they had off-camera that led to their split, and now she’s opening up about what went down and her ex-husband’s role in it all.

Christina Haack tells People that in July 2024, her children had apparently requested that Josh Hall not accompany them on a weekend trip to the beach, which “didn’t go down very well” with him. When they returned, the couple got into an argument, during which Haack said she called Tarek El Moussa. She recalls:

Not only was The Flipping El Moussas star there for his ex-wife during that situation, but afterward, too, when it became clear that Josh Hall couldn’t continue being part of The Flip Off. Christina Haack said, per People, that her first husband stepped up and made some phone calls:

Tarek El Moussa and Christina Haack played that scene as if she was telling him for the first time about the fight and that her marriage to Josh Hall was over, but of course, El Moussa and his wife already knew about the issues they’d been having. (In fact, he kind of predicted how it would go down.)

The Christina on the Coast star said producers didn’t coach her on what to say, just to tell Tarek that she and Josh had broken up, and it led to a raw and emotional conversation between the former spouses that fans really appreciated. Haack said:

I’d be lying if I said I didn’t get a little misty-eyed watching that scene myself! Christina Haack and Tarek El Moussa have seen some rough days, but it’s great to see that they’ve settled into a friendship as co-parents. It sounds like he was a really important support system for her in her divorce from her third husband.

Don’t expect to see much of that, though, when The Flip Off Season 2 premieres, as Heather Rae will inevitably be called on to mediate. New episodes aren’t likely to make it in time for the 2025 TV schedule, but keep an eye out for early next year.

Last summer delivered yet another personal blow for the mom of three, as she and then husband Josh Hall filed for divorce separately, right as filming had begun on The Flip Off.

That eventual hit series (which is currently filming a much-desired and hopefully enjoyably chaotic second season) was supposed to see the El Moussas compete against Haack and Hall in house flipping challenges, but fans shockingly saw an awkward car argument between the couple that signaled the end of their marriage. When speaking to People about figuring things out post-expensive divorce settlement, Haack is hopeful about moving forward from the “wild ride” of early 2025 and said:

Haack has been dating Christopher LaRocca for a year now, and opened up a few months ago about moving into the future with him with a “clear head,” but those early days preparing The Flip Off Season 1 were already filled with trepidation. Haack revealed that she didn’t even want Hall involved with the series, which led to a rather prescient comment from El Moussa at the time:

WOW. If only either of them had known just how close he came on that one, right? The Season 1 premiere is actually the episode that showed that argument between the duo, which led to a really sweet moment where Haack tearfully revealed the split to El Moussa. Those exes, who’ve had their own difficulties co-parenting their two kids and ended the show that made them famous because behind-the-scenes tensions had become too heated, were then shown apologizing for the mistakes they made in their own marriage.

Even though Haack has had a rough go of things lately, she noted that she’s “really good at letting go of the past,” so here’s hoping that her romantic sailing will be much smoother from here on out.

After months of wondering whether or not one of our favorite HGTV shows would return, we finally got word, in late August, that The Flip Off would be back for its sophomore season. While it’s doubtful that it’ll land on what’s left of the 2025 TV schedule, fans of the competition with Heather Rae and Tarek El Moussa and Christina Haack now have more of their bickering and bantering to look forward to. It’s clear that filming the series is kinda wild for them, and a new BTS video is really delivering the energy I need them to bring to Season 2.

What Does The Flip Off BTS Video Of Heather, Tarek And Christina Show?

This was a rough summer for home renovation series fans, as numerous shows were canceled, to the point where several HGTV stars had to speak out and reassure viewers that they would return to the network. Even though that group of 2025 TV cancellations sadly included shows starring Christina Haack and Heather Rae and Tarek El Moussa, their hit competition from early this year, The Flip Off, was (Thankfully!) spared.

To deliver the good news to fans, the trio shared an Instagram post that throws back to the look-alike ads they used to promote the series before Season 1. However, a new BTS video of the filming process for that clip is giving me the exact chaotic flavor that Imma need to see in the new season. Take a look!

I mean…this is insanity, right? But, it’s just the kind of insanity we love for this show, so. Bring. It. ON.

I assumed that this group was able to have some playful fun while filming, especially since they do things like gather around a pool, drink adult libations and argue over how all their kids are related to each other in their free time. This clip, however, is some next level lunacy that goes above and beyond what we’ve seen of them during their house flipping contest, and honestly, I love it for all of us.

Heather Rae mentioned previously that filming with the exes has meant that she’s “always mediating things” between the former Flip or Flop hosts, but this video shows that the Selling Sunset star is sometimes the problem herself. And you know, why not? Heather should get to let loose, too, particularly because Tarek and Christina are almost always engaged in some playful trash-talking, due to their competitive natures.

Here’s what I’m really hoping for, which is what I believe most fans want to see in The Flip Off Season 2 and was alluded to in the clip. I want all the chaos of the first season, but Christina and Heather to team up against Tarek. Not only would this give Christina a real partner for the competition, but I think we all know that having the ladies’ wild, creative (and quite similar) energy on one side while Tarek’s trolling nature is on the other is going to deliver some real gold.

This summer has, overall, seemed to be a pretty good one for Tarek El Moussa. Though the HGTV star and his wife, Heather Rae, did see their series, The Flipping El Moussas, canceled along with six other HGTV shows, their hit with his ex-wife Christina Haack, The Flip Off, was finally awarded Season 2. On top of that, he’s been able to lounge poolside with his wife, ex, and her new boyfriend and figure out how all their kids are related. But, there’s been a wrinkle in his late summer good times, as his legal battle with a former employee is now moving forward.

Who’s Suing Tarek El Moussa And Why?

According to Us Weekly, Jeffrey Revoy (who worked for Tarek El Moussa from September 2021 through July 2022) filed a lawsuit against the Flip or Flop star in August 2023, claiming wrongful termination, breach of contract and retaliation. The suit also names El Moussa’s business partner and his companies, Digital Foundation Group and Tarek Buys Homes, as other defendants. Recent court documents state that an Orange County Superior Court judge set a trial start date of October 12, 2026.

The suit claims that after Revoy was hired as the CEO for Tarek Buys Homes, early 2022 saw him pay for the services of an outside human resources company, and that they found employees who called El Moussa’s business partner “demeaning.” That was allegedly followed by another complaint from within the company about the same person in July, which led Revoy to contact the HR firm again.

Revoy, who was also hired to help with Digital Foundation Group for a time during his employment, then claims in his lawsuit that the same month saw El Moussa (who was once accused of having an on-set tirade directed at Haack while filming) become upset and throw a sandwich at one of his assistants because there wasn’t mustard on it. While the incident was reported by a crew member, supposedly nothing was done to address the matter because the worker who got hit wasn’t employed by HGTV.

He also claims that the same day saw a long-time employee of the TV star quit because of “inexcusable” conduct, which reportedly included using foul language, “screaming” and “yelling.”

It was allegedly on July 29, 2022 that Revoy was sent an email from El Moussa’s personal lawyer which relieved him of his duties as an employee. He believes that the action was retaliation for taking issues with El Moussa’s business partner to HR. He also claims that during his tenure with the company, The Flip Off lead used $250,000 of Digital Foundation Group cash for his own use, though he did eventually replace the funds. That has led him to believe that his firing was also due to “financial pressures to terminate” him so that they could save money.

How Did Tarek El Moussa Respond To The Wrongful Termination Lawsuit?

The damages being requested are unspecified in the suit, but either way, El Moussa clearly has his own view of what happened, because he filed a countersuit against Revoy. His counterclaim alleges that Revoy falsified allegations against another employee, which led Revoy to fire them and to El Moussa paying hundreds of thousands of dollars while entangled in a legal fight with that former worker. He’s also suing for breach of fiduciary duties and other things. Revoy has denied all of the claims against him.

Revoy Also Filed Suit Against El Moussa For Breach Of Contract

In a separate lawsuit that was filed in February 2024, Revoy also alleged that El Moussa was in breach of contract after co-founding TEM Capital Management, a real estate company, where Revoy was supposed to own 15% while the flipping expert owned 75%. According to Revoy, he ran the company from its beginning through the first year, after which El Moussa “reneged on their enforceable bargain and pretended — despite all evidence to the contrary — that Revoy never had an interest in” said company.

A month later, the father of three denied the claims, and asked the suit be thrown out, with his attorney stating:

July 24 saw Revoy file for that suit to be dismissed without prejudice, so that it can be refiled in the future if he so decides. While it seems obvious that these two have very different views of their time working together, we’ll likely all have to wait until they get their time in court to see how everything shakes out.

Blended families are something, aren’t they? A group that knows a lot (or, if a recent chat is to be believed, maybe not so much) about such a thing would be the stars of The Flip Off (which survived a summer of HGTV cancellations and was just renewed for Season 2), Christina Haack, Tarek El Moussa and his second wife, Heather Rae El Moussa. The Selling Sunset star shared a video recently that shows the group trying to figure out how their kids are related, and while I didn’t have this convo on my 2025 bingo card, their questions are certainly fair ones.

What Did Christina Haack, Heather Rae And Tarek El Moussa Say While Trying To Figure Out How Their Kids Are Related?

To be totally fair to the Haack/El Moussa/Anstead clan, theirs is a relatively twisty family combo. Christina Haack recently went through a (very contentious, expensive and public) divorce from her third husband, Josh Hall, after first being married to and divorced from Tarek El Moussa (they share kids Taylor and Brayden), and then being wed to Ant Anstead (with whom she shares son Hudson). El Moussa married Heather Rae in 2021, and they have a son, Tristan.

Luckily, not only have have Christina, Tarek and Heather been able to figure out co-parenting the kids (along with Haack and Anstead mending their once broken fences for the benefit of Hudson), but the trio has actually become close enough that they’re able to work on the popular house flipping competition, The Flip Off to beautifully chaotic success.

But a recent video from Heather, which was reposted to Christina’s Instagram Stories, shows that they might not be completely clear on how everyone’s related now. They were hanging out with Christina’s new boyfriend, Chris Larocca, leading to this exchange:

• Chris: [to Tarek] So, with Hudson, what is your relationship? Are you his ex-stepdad? Ex-uncle?
• Tarek: Uncle? Am I her brother? This is actually a very good question.
• Christina: Wait, wait, wait…Brayden’s his half-brother and you’re his half-dad…half step-dad [laughs]. Half ex-step-dad?

Wow. Even considering all the ins and outs of who has kids with whom and such, this is a wild discussion. It continued back and forth until Heather (who was the one recording it) looked at the camera and asked:

• Heather: Should we ChatGPT this, you guys? Can anyone tell us what Tarek would be to Hudson?
• Tarek: This is a real dilemma, actually.
• Heather: This is what tequila does. I need to really think this through…

I mean, honestly, if everyone here has had tequila, that explains a lot of this! From my basic understanding of the timeline of marriages and births, because Christina and Tarek were married first, he and Hudson (again, he’s her son with her second husband, Ant) were never technically related, even through marriage. Though, of course, Hudson is half-siblings with Taylor and Brayden (they all share Christina as their mom), while Taylor and Brayden are also half-siblings with Tristan (they all share Tarek as their dad).

See what you can do sober?! I also have the wonders of caffeine on my side, but I guess that’s a topic for another article.

At any rate, I can only assume that the HGTV stars do know exactly how everyone in their familial circle is related (or not) to each other, but a little bit of boozy fun and a direct question simply threw them off for a bit.

HGTV shows are not immune to a bit of fakery, with House Hunters often cited as a big offender. But for shows like The Flip Off, a lot of what’s really going on with renovations is happening. We often see Tarek and Heather arguing over style and how much money to spend on the design -- a messy way of working Heather calls "beautiful chaos" -- but despite a few snafus that do crop up on television, the whole thing feels fairly breezy to the audience, leading to eventual profit.

According to Tarek, that’s not really the full story. In fact, what we don’t see is a lot of grind. He said recently on his Instagram account that the environment is “high pressure” before it’s edited into a half-hour or hourlong format, writing:

Of course, we do sometimes see stressful moments play out on The Flip Off. There's the time Christina Haack dropped ex Josh Hall like dead weight after he said to the cameras she was "pissing" him off. From a work standpoint, there are also times when previous work on homes was maybe not done correctly or issues end up being pricier than expected to tame.

There’s lots of fun to be had, as well. Tarek’s wife Heather and his ex Christina El Moussa are sometimes seen hanging out outside of work hours at kids games and for other promo events, and even when the competition is on, we see moments of them jokingly talking smack or aligning in different ways.

Regardless, there's no doubt Tarek is very serious about the numbers and has always been a return on investment guy. He said in another recent interview with Realtor.com that things change in the market all the time, but through his long career, he’s managed to build a decent business by sticking with “the same approach."

While it may feel like a significant number of people are flipping houses these days, much more so thanks to HGTV's popularity, it is hard work, and Tarek says it's not for the faint of heart.

However, he clearly has a knack for the industry, and for flipping houses when the cameras are rolling. His chemistry both with his wife and his ex-wife is part of the reason The Flip Off charmed a huge audience, became the highest rated freshman drama since 2022, and avoided the cancelation axe that came down on so many HGTV shows this year.

The Flip Off has officially been renewed, and we'll let you know as soon as there's a date for it to return to the 2025 TV schedule (or beyond).

HGTV has been taking up quite a bit of real estate on the list of 2025 TV cancellations, as seven shows have gotten the axe this summer alone. That includes a couple from former spouses Christina Haack and Tarek El Moussa, who have now seen the end of Christina on the Coast and The Flipping El Moussas. Fans are enraged over these and at least five other HGTV shows coming to an end, but the famed home renovator seems to be taking the bad news quite well.

The final episode of Christina on the Coast aired earlier this year on the 2025 TV schedule, though it wasn’t known at that time that the show was ending. Despite the unexpected turn of events, Christina Haack seemed to be weathering the news, as she shared some photos of her family to Instagram, putting a positive spin on her situation with the caption:

The (former?) HGTV star certainly looks to be enjoying her kids’ summer vacation, and I just love her sense of humor in reference to Chrstina on the Coast’s cancellation, as she uses her free time to hang out with her children and boyfriend.

Despite the cancellations (and good news for one show) many fans are holding out hope for a second season of The Flip Off. Season 1 pitted Christina Haack against Tarek El Moussa and his wife, Heather Rae, in a house-flipping competition with an all-expenses-paid family vacation on the line. While Josh Hall was supposed to be on Haack’s team, they filed for divorce near the beginning of the season, and she chose to continue alone.

It was enjoyable to see her hold her own, but many were hoping that she and Heather Rae El Moussa (who get along famously) would team up against Tarek for the next challenge.

With what seems to be tough times over at HGTV, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens. In the meantime, though, it’s at least good to see that Christina Haack is handling her “canceled” status so well.

There has been a veritable bloodbath of cancellations on HGTV this year, including Married to Real Estate, Farmhouse Fixer, Izzy Does It, Bargain Block, and Battle on the Beach. The shows starring Christina Haack and the El Moussas were seemingly spared from the cuts, but Us Weekly reports that those cuts are coming to the Flip Off trio after all. Namely, the outlet cites a source claiming that Flipping El Moussas, starring Tarek and Heather Rae, is "not coming back," nor is Haack's Christina on the Coast, which has "not been renewed."

That's not to say that the trio's days at HGTV are numbered, as they're reportedly expected to team back up for a second season of The Flip Off, although "no filming date or air date" have been set just yet. The Flip Off became the network's highest-rated freshman series in the adult demographic going back to 2022. So, while the three HGTV stars may be in for bad news if their various side shows are cancelled, they do seem likely to have a future with more of The Flip Off.

And that's more than can be said for the stars of some other axed HGTV shows. Battle on the Beach's Alison Victoria addressed being "sad" to lose the show that was "like adult spring break." Arguably even worse, Married to Real Estate hosts Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jackson only found out that their show was ending after coming back from a family trip. Jonathan Knight didn't shed the details behind the cancellation of Farmhouse Fixer, but alluded to "processing the reasons that led to" HGTV's decision to cancel.

As for The Flip Off, there's room for the show to grow in a second season, and I don't just mean the idea of Christina Haack and Heather Rae joining forces against Tarek El Moussa. It would be interesting to see Haack actually get to film a full season with one partner after Season 1's dynamic imploded due to her divorce from Josh Hall. Fans on HGTV's Reddit have ideas as well, including blind voting for all of the challenges and starting the teams off on equal footing.

For now, it's just a waiting game for HGTV to publicly confirm the fates of Christina Haack's and the El Moussas' various shows, as well as whether Season 2 of The Flip Off is truly in the works.

For all the heightened drama that’s part and parcel of reality TV, one of the rarely exhibited pockets of peace revolves around Tarek El Moussa and Christina Haack, who somehow turned being friendly exes and successful co-parents into a career move. Arguably even more mind-boggling is the kinship shared by Haack and her former hubby’s second wife Heather El Moussa, and she is well aware that many outsiders don’t understand how they all get along.

The trio shook up the 2025 TV schedule with the first season of The Flip Off — which bid a quick farewell to temporary co-star Josh Hall — and fans are eager to see a second season that has El Moussa and Haack teaming up, as bizarro as that might sound. Don’t go thinking their affinity for each other is insincere, either, was Heather El Moussa shared an Instagram Stories post celebrating her buddy’s birthday with the following message:

There are people I’ve been friends with for decades, without any drama over ex-husbands entering into it, who aren’t that warm and kindly when sending birthday wishes. Now, that could have something to do with my own behavior and lack of communication skills, but I prefer to think of it as a perfectly apt comparison for Heather El Moussa and Christina Haack’s platonic vibes.

Haack turned 42 on July 9, and appeared to have a good time out celebrating with her newest boyfriend Chris Larocca, whom she started dating while in the midst of finalizing her contentious divorce from Josh Hall. It’s unclear at this point whether or not the El Moussas took part in any b-day shenanigans, but it’s likely fans will see them all together again sooner rather than later. (They did all hang out for Fourth of July weekend, as documented on Instagram.)

Just a few weeks prior to that, Tarek El Moussa shared pics from a group dinner that he said was set up by the two female HGTV stars in question.

I have to assume that Heather El Moussa (and Christina Haack, for that matter) deal with a vast assortment of fan reactions, and that many are likely less than savory in one way or another. But I do hope that fans and followers maintain their couth and kindness when sharing confused and curious reactions to the two reality stars sharing a legitimate friendship.

Clearly, enough people are invested in this joyfully non-traditional scenario that it's become its own subsection of the fan feedback that she gets, presumably with fewer examples in real life than on social media, though that might be a naive presumption. All things considered, I think we can all agree that there's no strange magick or otherworldly elements at play here.

The El Moussas and Haack took (and are still taking) the most pragmatic and level-minded steps forward, and have turned what could have been an unfortunate and damaging situation into a net positive across the board, from The Flip Off to helping with each other's promotional posts, bikinis included or otherwise.

Now, ahem, about that Season 2 announcement, HGTV...?

Tarek El Moussa and his wife Heather Rae spend their days buying, selling and decorating homes for other people (which can be seen on myriad shows with a Max subscription), so it only makes sense that the HGTV stars would have a gorgeous abode of their own to retreat to at the end of the day. The El Moussas recently showed off their new house, and I’m obsessed with it before the redecorating has even begun.

The Flip Off stars (who competed against Tarek El Moussa’s ex-wife Christina Haack on the HGTV competition show earlier on the 2025 TV schedule) dropped $5.2 million for a 4-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom mansion in Newport Beach, California, per Realtor.com. They shared some first glimpses at the rooms on Instagram, and — no surprises here — it’s beautiful. See for yourself:

The mansion features lots of wood, not just on the floors but extending to the cabinets in the kitchen, and immediately when they opened the front door, you could see out into the backyard through large windows that seemingly take up an entire wall. More natural light flooded in from multiple skylights atop the high ceilings.

Selling Sunset alum Heather Rae El Moussa seemed to be getting a jump on the design already, as she was shown bent over what looked like a marble countertop looking at beige and black paint swatches.

Not surprisingly, Tarek El Moussa looked like he already had big ideas for adding that El Moussa design flair, as he can be seen in the short video gesturing with raised arms as he walked around the open-concept kitchen and living area. I can’t wait to see what personal touches they add to the space, and the real question is, will they film the process for HGTV?

The couple’s big purchase comes as fans wait to hear if there will be a second season of The Flip Off, possibly with a change of teams. The El Moussas ganged up on a newly single Christina Haack in Season 1 after the Christina on the Coast star was supposed to compete with husband Josh Hall. The couple filed for divorce early into the show’s production, and it was decided they would proceed without him.

There’s been a lot of speculation about look-alikes Christina Haack and Heather Rae El Moussa joining forces against Tarek — the self-proclaimed “king of flipping.” However the teams shake out (and I don’t expect Haack’s new boyfriend to join as their fourth), the El Moussas’ new location should make filming a bit easier, as their house is reportedly just a four-minute drive from Christina Haack’s.

HGTV shows notwithstanding, that’s actually a great situation, given that the Flip or Flop vets share two children in addition to Tarek El Moussa’s son with Heather Rae and Christina Haack’s son with second ex-husband Ant Anstead. As well as making co-parenting easier, the close location could lend itself to more ”perfect” Christina and Heather bikini pics.

The Flip Off Season 2 has yet to be confirmed by HGTV — though the trash-talking has already begun — but I’ll be keeping my eye out for that as much as some before-and-after footage from the new El Moussa digs.

The Perfect Pink Lippie Gloss is a new product, and since they already both donned pink bikinis a few weeks ago, this time they’ve made duotone swimwear look good. In keeping with this “perfect” product launch, Tarek and Heather’s Selling Sunset co-star Chrishell Stause basically had the same one-word comment:

Awwwww! Honestly, he better tell his wife of nearly four years that she’s all-caps perfect. I mean, she gave birth to his youngest child, for goodness sakes! At least this is something nice for him to think about after his recent Vegas altercation.

More than anything, I think we all really love how close Heather and Christina seem to have gotten over the years. It took some time for them to work out co-parenting, but once they nailed that down the two really do appear to have hit it off. While Tarek has talked about always being willing to work with his ex-wife, Heather has opened up about working with the two being “beautiful chaos,” largely because she was always “mediating things” between the bickering exes.

Hopefully, with both women willing to team up for a potential second season of their HGTV hit, we’ll at least continue to get more of these promos for Heather’s line of beauty products. But, it would be even better if all the attention from the blondes twinning on Instagram led to The Flip Off Season 2!

Funnily enough, even since the Flip or Flop stars split up in 2016, that situation hasn’t really come up. After that show ended in 2022, they did their own things for a bit before returning to the 2025 TV schedule with their competition show The Flip Off, and already the couple are trash-talking each other again over a potential Season 2.

While I doubt that’s the smartest tone to take when speaking about the mothers of your children, that’s just how Tarek El Moussa does it, and as per usual, Christina Haack took the bait, responding on her own Instagram Stories:

If you think The Flipping El Moussas star was satisfied to let his ex-wife have the last word, well, you’ve probably never seen the “beautiful chaos” of their flipping shows. Tarek doubled (tripled?) down on his stance by posting another Story with the response:

I actually really like the idea of her and the Selling Sunset star joining forces, and Heather Rae El Moussa seemed to be into the idea, too, if her recent social media post is any indication:

Heather took to Instagram recently after the whole team got together to celebrate the fact that the show is being considered for an Emmy nomination, and to mark the occasion, the Selling Sunset star said:

This trio certainly has come a long way since the days, just a few years ago, when learning to co-parent Taylor and Brayden, the two kids shared by Haack and El Moussa, was difficult. The former Flip or Flop stars even had to stop filming that beloved show because of tensions after they split. Things definitely got awkward and chaotic on the show, with Heather admitting that the bickering between the “so competitive” exes meant that she spent a lot of time “mediating things” because they “fight like they’re brother and sister.” Luckily, though, their fights were mostly fun and lightly competitive, which was great for the audience.

While some believe Haack should have a partner if The Flip Off gets Season 2, Tarek El Moussa said Chris Larocca might not be the best choice just yet. When asked if it was something they had talked about, he said no and then followed it up with:

Obviously, it’d be fun to see the two couples face off against each other in this renovation competition. However, I get what El Moussa is saying. Larocca is not a TV personality, he’s the CEO of Network Connex. Unlike El Moussa and Josh Hall, he is not part of the same career field as his girlfriend, which could make things “challenging.”

Continuing to elaborate on his working relationship with the two other co-hosts of The Flip Off, El Moussa explained:

Overall, I get what he’s saying. He also noted that there haven’t been conversations about Larocca coming on the show yet. So, I guess nothing is out of the question. However, for now, it seems unlikely. The HGTV hosts have a good thing going, Haack and Larocca’s relationship is still pretty new, and overall, it sounds like everyone is happy with where they’re at.

It Sounds Like Christina Haack And Heather Rae El Moussa Are Willing To Do The Flip Off Season 2

The stars of The Flip Off spent much of 2024 dropping teases and promos for their upcoming show, with much of the focus being on how similar looking the blonde designers are to each other. Those who tuned in for the first season will know that their design aesthetics are also quite similar, and it seems that Haack and El Moussa are also both willing to work on The Flip Off Season 2.

The duo did an Instagram Live (which Tarek joined them for), to celebrate the premiere of the flipping competition on January 29, and while the session was relatively short, it didn’t take Heather Rae long to stoke the competitive fire by asking fans:

With the first season of six episodes being in the books already, it appears that the mom of one was alluding to the fact that she’d not only be down for another season, but a big change of pace when it comes to who’d be facing off. She even declared that she would be ready to team with Haack for Season 2.

Though Tarek called himself "the glue" of the new show, everyone watching loved the idea of Christina and Heather working together, with fans offering a resounding answer of “the girls” when it came to who they thought would win.

In fact, a fan attending the live just went ahead and asked the obvious question, wanting to know if Haack and the El Moussas saw The Flip Off as being only a one-season show or if they want to do more, with Christina responding:

It might be worth noting that Christina was smiling when she noted that Tarek might take some convincing (he will likely be ready to go if Season 2 is given the greenlight), and Heather picked up the thought for her, adding:

My guess right now is that there are probably at least tentative plans to keep this series going. Not only did the premiere end up being the network’s highest rated Season 1 debut for adults ages 25 to 54, with 4 million viewers on linear and streaming, but it also attracted large numbers of upscale viewers, and upped viewership numbers by a lot for its timeslot.

But, if The Flip Off Season 2 ends up, somehow, not being an option, fans might not need to worry too much. Before the trio signed off, someone asked if Heather and Christina might do a spinoff with just them, to which Christina looked at Tarek and said:

I was intrigued by The Flip Off's awkward premise of the ex-spouses going head-to-head, and after watching the six-episode season, I am happy to say I really enjoyed it — especially how Haack and Josh Hall’s breakup played into it. If The Flip Off returns for a second season, though, I think there’s one big change they’d have to make.

I Think Josh Hall’s Unexpected Exit Ended Up Being The Best Part Of The Flip Off

Going into the series, I was casually familiar with Christina Haack and Tarek El Moussa. I watched a good bit of Flip or Flop back in the day but never tuned into their spinoffs like Christina on the Coast or The Flipping El Moussas. As for Josh Hall, I knew nothing of him, but let’s just say I was instantly turned off when he said in the season premiere that his wife was pissing him off, so I was on the same page as other fans who celebrated Hall’s exit.

In fact, I think the way The Flip Off handled the unexpected curveball of Christina Haack’s divorce — and choosing to continue without Josh Hall — brought about some of the best moments of the series so far. It wasn’t the mud-slinging and subtle jabs made at his expense, either. It was the more wholesome moments that won me over.

Christina Haack and her first ex-husband shared a really raw moment in the first episode, when Tarek El Moussa took responsibility for the pain he’d caused her in the past, and she apologized for her part in their split too. Haack said in the finale:

Her most recent breakup also helped to mend her relationship with her second ex, Ant Anstead. While I can understand why Tarek El Moussa was so frustrated with him giving Christina that win in “The Ex Factor,” Renée Zellweger’s boyfriend was giving full Mark Darcy “just as you are” vibes with his speech about always being connected to Christina through their son and how they would always be on the same team. Anstead announced that round’s winner by saying:

Oh my god, why am I getting choked up?

Going into The Flip Off’s premiere, there were questions about who would replace Josh Hall as Christina Haack’s partner, and I actually love that she didn’t recruit anyone else. That was a huge undertaking, and she did it during a really tumultuous time in her life. It sent a strong message about her strength and resilience and not needing a man to get the job done. It sounds like it was an empowering experience for her, too, as she said:

She’s always got her eye on the bottom line! That mindset, of course, means that a moral victory is not enough for this house-flipper, and she has made it known she’s down for a rematch.

If The Flip Off Season 2 Gets The Green Light, Christina Haack Needs A Partner

The credits hadn’t rolled on Season 1 before Christina Haack was throwing down the gauntlet for Season 2. She said she wants a rematch, and guarantees a win next time around. If and when HGTV gives her that chance, I’m hoping they make one big change — Haack needs to find a partner.

I know it’s strange to say that the best part of Season 1 was that she was able to complete the flip against one ex while going through a divorce from another (somebody cue up “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart”), just to turn around and say that next time she shouldn’t go it alone, but hear me out. She proved she can do it by herself, but she deserves to not have to.

I’m not saying that Christina Haack needs to find a fourth husband or even that she should recruit her current boyfriend Chris Larocca. Many fans suggested she could team up with James Bender, a designer she’s worked with a lot on HGTV for projects like Christina on the Coast and the Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge. There’s also Cassie Schienle, Kylie Wing and Michael Lange, who all pitched in at different points to help her on The Flip Off.

The fact is, The Flip Off Season 2 would need to level the playing field. Nobody would want to see another round of Tarek and Heather Rae El Moussa double-teaming their competition. Josh Hall’s unexpected exit served the show well for Christina Haack’s story, and plenty of shade thrown his way, but to continue on that route would be too much. I’d rather keep the focus on the blended family. As Tarek said in the finale:

You have to love that. Tarek and Heather El Moussa may have won the majority of the challenges and come in with the higher return on investment, but you absolutely can’t say Christina Haack lost. It sounds like this might be the first time Christina Haack legally changed her name since her first marriage. Haack revealed on The Flip Off that Josh Hall was not thrilled that she still went by her first ex-husband’s name when they met, before she quietly changed her last name to Hall on social media. She said:

We witnessed a bit of that ahead of the new show — which has since decided to proceed without Josh Hall — when Christina’s husband told her not to get confused about what her last name was, reminding her, “You’re a Hall now,” before saying that she was “pissing [him] off.”

In addition to her maiden name, Tarek’s name and Josh’s when she was married to them, Christina also took Ant Anstead’s last name for the two years they were married.

She may be partnerless in the competition, but fans were not sad to see Josh Hall go, and it’s actually been really nice to see the love the El Moussas have for Christina.

It was a popular look at the time, but not one that she's still rocking on The Flip Off! In fact, her look on the new show is pretty similar to Heather Rae El Moussa, which the very first promotion for The Flip Off played into.

And while the competition is fierce between the two teams on The Flip Off, the stars were also clear while speaking with CinemaBlend that any banter and bickering is all in good fun. That's easier to believe after the series premiere took the time to show Tarek supporting Christina when she shared the news about her split from Josh, with Heather expressing sympathy as well. Both teams definitely want to win, but that doesn't mean at any cost.

I also got the impression from that first episode that Josh Hall was not at all a fan of his wife’s friendly relationship with her first ex-husband. Christina Haack and Tarek El Moussa share two children, though, so I’d think friendly co-parenting is much preferred to the on-set tirades of their post-divorce Flip or Flop days. El Moussa spoke to that when discussing the Halls’ split, saying:

I love this world where Tarek El Moussa can sit next to Heather Rae and express how much they both care about his ex-wife and how important it is for their whole family that Christina Haack is OK. Fans loved it too, as not only were they celebrating Josh Hall’s exit midway through “The Breakup,” they showed support for Haack and appreciation for the way El Moussa took responsibility for his wrongdoings against her.

Honestly a few years ago, I don’t know if I’d have believed that Christina Haack and Tarek El Moussa could get to such a mature space with each other. I’m definitely more surprised by that than the El Moussas were about Josh Hall getting the boot.

The wait is finally over. After months of intrigue (and quite a bit of uncertainty) about how The Flip Off would go down amidst Christina Haack and Josh Hall’s divorce, the new HGTV show has premiered on the 2025 TV schedule. Josh appeared in roughly half of the first episode, until it was revealed after an argument (and him saying that Christina was “pissing [him] off already”) that they had split. After all that, I’m not shocked that fans were happy to see Josh go, but I’m pleasantly surprised at the appreciation for Christina and Tarek El Moussa.

Midway through the first episode of The Flip Off — which pit Christina and Josh Hall against her first ex-husband Tarek El Moussa and his wife Heather Rae in a house-flipping competition — Christina asked Tarek to come over, where she told him she and Josh had broken up after a big fight. This led the Flip or Flop stars to look back at their own marriage, with both shedding tears and apologizing for past mistakes. It was an unexpectedly emotional scene, as one fan said on X (Twitter):

As depicted in The Flip Off sneak peek, Josh Hall did come off as overly competitive toward the El Moussas and quite insecure. But more than being relieved that we don’t have to endure an entire season of that, I was happy to see all the love being shown for Christina Haack and Tarek El Moussa. These people on Reddit seem to really miss Flip or Flop, and I get it! They wrote:

Speaking with CinemaBlend for the new show's press junket, all three stars opened up about rules (or lack thereof) in The Flip Off, with some wildly different takes. It was clear from the very first episode – in which Haack didn't let tension with her husband and then an imminent divorce knock her out of the game – that none of them are messing around about winning bragging rights (and a vacation paid for by the other side).

I spoke with all three at the same time for an interview ahead of the premiere, and they weighed in on whether they'd be sticking to a set of rules or rolling with the punches. Selling Sunset alum Heather Rae El Moussa quickly chimed in to say about Christina Haack that "She hates rules!" The exes then continued on the topic, saying:

• Christina: "I hate rules."
• Tarek: "Her only rule is there are no rules, which is hard in a competition when you have to follow rules."
• Christina: If your rules are anything that comes to your mind, it gives you advantage!

Tarek went on to poke fun at Christina with some references to the series premiere on January 29, saying "Okay, kitchen!" and "Excuse me, 'transformation'" in response to her comments, while she suggested that it's all in service of "Wow factor."

For her part, Heather Rae El Moussa elaborated on why there really wasn't a strict format to the show:

It's worth noting that the banter between the three Flip Off stars was clearly all in good fun, with Heather Rae El Moussa saying that they "had a lot of fun with all three of us together" on the show "especially after Josh was out of the picture."

Fans who tuned in to the premiere will have noticed that the tone certainly lightened up once Christina built her own team after her husband left the show, which wasn't too surprising after a clip of Josh getting mad at Christina that released ahead of the first episode.

We are now not that far away from the official TV reunion of former Flip or Flop hosts Christina Haack and Tarek El Moussa. The Flip Off is a new competition series on the 2025 TV schedule that will see them compete in a house flipping challenge (with El Moussa’s new wife, Selling Sunset star Heather Rae as his teammate), and while the early promos played up how much Christina and Heather look alike, I certainly didn’t have them talking about Tarek farting in bed on my bingo card this week, but…here we are.

What Did The Flip Off’s Christina Haack And Heather El Moussa Say About Tarek Farting In Bed?

Of course, long-time fans know that the former duo of Christina Haack and Tarek El Moussa were married for some of the run of their uber-popular HGTV series, Flip or Flop, but broke up in 2016 and continued to film together until behind-the-scenes tensions got to be too much. Now, after entering into new relationships and figuring out how to successfully co-parent their two kids, Haack and El Moussa are getting along well enough to compete against one another on The Flip Off.

Look, I was completely prepared for more “don’t Heather and Christina look/act/seem so similar and isn’t it funny that Tarek married both of them” references in promos for the show or on the series itself once it starts airing. I, however, was definitely not expecting the ladies to commiserate over El Moussa’s propensity for farting in bed. Take a look:

WOW. I suppose the “why are men like this” of it all should be left for another, very different, type of article, but even so there’s still a lot to discuss here, right? Obviously, we knew Haack acting as the “Tarek therapist” to his current wife was going to lead to a silly convo, but I never could have guessed that we’d just jump right into him farting in bed and deciding to "throw" farts on unsuspecting blonde ladies he happens to be married to.

Honestly? I’ve watched the clip several times and I’m never sure whether to laugh or cringe. Farting and holding your partner’s head under the covers should be grounds for divorce and getting at least 70% of all their assets. If you smelt it you dealt…yourself a serious financial blow, and that’s on you, sir!

If anything, though, it’s great to see all three of them getting along to the point where they can not only film together and enjoy some friendly-ish competition, but joke around. That’s especially true now, considering that Haack has been embroiled in a contentious divorce from Josh Hall since summer 2024. Hall was supposed to be on The Flip Off, but they broke up early in filming and the series is set to show some of the strife between the former couple.

After this flatulent confab, I really can’t wait to see what else is revealed when The Flip Off hits HGTV on January 29.

Word on the street is that Christina Haack is now dating Chris Larocca, the CEO of Network Connex. According to an insider who spoke to The Daily Mail, they’ve allegedly been together for months, as they said:

They went on to allege that the duo have even “traveled abroad” together.

According to this source, the pair have been spotted at events for the last three months. The report explained that they were holding hands in photos posted by Ferrari during a big Italian trip the company put on. On top of that, the outlet reported that the duo apparently attended a Christmas party in Laguna Beach, and photos showed them together.

People also confirmed this news, noting that the “exact timeline” for this relationship is not really known yet.

What’s interesting about this report is it came out a few days after Us Weekly published an interview with Haack where she spoke about her outlook on romance. Saying that she’s “taking a break and spending time with my girlfriends and my kids,” the Christina in the Country host made it clear that dating isn’t her priority at the moment. She also said that while she wouldn’t totally exclude the idea of getting married, it’s not something she sees happening anytime soon, as she said:

So, I guess if Haack’s reported relationship with Larocca works out, there won’t be wedding bells anytime soon.

Notably, this news also comes six months after Haack and Josh Hall filed for divorce. She has said that this situation is “personal,” and a clip from The Flip Off shows that things were very tense between the two. As for right now, Hall has been removed from promotional photos for the HGTV show too. As for their divorce, it’s ongoing at the moment.

Overall, even though Haack is reportedly dating again, her comments about marriage still make sense. However, as we learn more about her new relationship as well as her various projects, we’ll keep you updated. Personally, Haack is raising three kids – Taylor and Brayden, whom she shares with El Moussa, and Hudson, who she co-parents with Anstead. It also sounds like all parties here are on good terms. In the story, Haack explained that when she and Hall broke up, Anstead said he was “here” for her and “sorry” that she was going through this situation. Meanwhile, the Flip or Flop host has gotten close to both Tarek and Heather. Not only do they work together on their new HGTV show, but they also spent the holidays together this year.

On top of all that, Haack and Hall are still dealing with their divorce, and she called it “personal,” noting that “divorces do not happen overnight & there is always a breaking point.”

Professionally, Christina Haack is also staying busy. While she was supposed to be on The Flip Off with Tarek and Heather El Moussa as well as Josh Hall, the promo images for it do not include Hall. She captioned it with “Cute grandmas,” and that went along with a series of photos that also featured her kids, Brayden (whom she shares with El Moussa) and Hudson (whom she shares with her ex Ant Anstead), and Haack’s sister Carly.

Back in October, Heather Rae El Moussa, Tarek’s wife, told the outlet that this was the plan for the holidays this year.

What Did Tarek El Moussa Say About Competing Against His Ex Christina Haack On The Flip Off?

It seems pretty clear that the three main parties involved in The Flip Off (Tarek El Moussa, Heather Rae El Moussa, and Christina Haack) are all very eager for everyone to see the show when it debuts on the 2025 TV schedule on January 29. I mean, they’re so into the idea of this show that they all agreed to Haack’s idea of using the obvious physical similarities between herself and the new Mrs. El Moussa to launch a series of look-alike promos for the flipping competition.

However, when talking to HGTV.com about the series, El Moussa made it clear that he fully expects his team to win, regardless of all the work Haack has done previously in the flipping space. He said:

WOW. Alright, strong words from Mr. El Moussa there, but he has certainly continued his flipping legacy since Flip or Flop ended in 2022. In the months since, he’s starred in Flipping 101, as well as The Flipping El Moussas, which he hosts with his wife, Heather Rae.

Meanwhile, Christina (who had signed on to the show with then-husband Josh Hall, who was removed from the program after they separately filed for divorce in July) has mostly focused her efforts on designing gorgeous homes for clients (and her own family) on Christina on the Coast and Christina in the Country. Despite the more design-based focus of her career, though, Haack isn’t backing down from the challenge, and she noted:

Not only will the series see their two teams compete in house flipping challenges, but the judging panel will include some names quite familiar to fans who’ve followed their lives and work over the past several years, as Haack’s other ex-husband Ant Anstead is a judge, as is one of Heather Rae’s Selling Sunset co-stars, Amanza Smith. And, the show will (at least briefly) cover the split between Haack and Hall.

Honestly, I cannot wait to see how wild this competition gets when late January 2025 rolls around!

HGTV house flipper Christina Hall is in the midst of a pretty ugly split from Josh Hall that has included accusations about Josh’s money moves and even real-life car thieves. However, the Christina on the Coast star’s third divorce isn’t necessarily indicative of the relationship she has with her exes. As she prepares for the debut of her new show The Flip Off on the 2025 TV schedule with her first ex-husband Tarek El Moussa, Christina is also showing support for her second ex, Ant Anstead, after he announced a new upcoming series.

Nobody can say Christina Hall doesn’t know how to stay friends with her exes. As Ant Anstead revealed his new show Born Mechanic will soon be available on the 2024 TV schedule to stream with a Max subscription, his ex-wife was quick to celebrate the big news, posting a preview to Instagram with the caption:

It was pretty sweet of Christina Hall to offer her congratulations to Ant Anstead on Born Mechanic. Anstead may be known for his love of cars, but he’s taking a page out of his ex’s book for the new series, which will see him renovating a 500-year-old farmhouse for his parents.

The support between Ant Anstead and Christina Hall seems to go both ways, too. Before she plugged his newest TV gig, it was confirmed that he will be making an appearance on her upcoming HGTV series The Flip Off. Christina was originally supposed to team up with Josh Hall on the show and compete against Tarek El Moussa and his wife Heather Rae El Moussa to see who could find, purchase, renovate and sell a house for the bigger financial gain.

After Christina and Josh Hall each filed for divorce in July, HGTV made the decision to continue production of The Flip Off without Josh’s involvement. It’s unknown if Christina will be working alone now or finding a new partner, but many fans hope to see her frequent collaborator James Bender helping her out. Either way, Ant Anstead is not replacing Josh Hall, though the extent of his role on The Flip Off has yet to be confirmed.

Just because Christina Hall is able to get along with her first two ex-husbands now doesn’t mean they didn’t have ugly aspects to their breakups. She split from Tarek El Moussa after seven years of marriage following a May 2016 altercation that involved police and a gun. Somehow the duo continued to work on Flip or Flop together until 2022, despite some hurdles like the occasional on-set tirade.

As for Ant Anstead, to whom the Christina in the Country star was married for two years, there was a pretty intense custody battle over their son Hudson. Anstead filed for sole custody of Hudson in 2022 (his request was denied), after he called Christina an unsafe parent and took issue with her using their son in paid content for social media.

It would appear they’ve got a better handle on co-parenting these days, as they show each other support on their newest projects. One has to wonder if that means Christina and Josh Hall will someday patch things up to become friends like she since has with Ant Anstead and Tarek El Moussa, but at this point that seems like a stretch.

Longtime HGTV superstars Tarek El Moussa and Christina Hall went from being loving co-hosts to feuding exes in front of Flip or Flop fans’ eyes, and are now set to share the screen anew for a somewhat inconceivable battle-of-the-exes competition series. The Flip/Off (as it’s currently called) won’t be part of the 2024 TV schedule, which gives producers enough time to figure out how to replace Josh Hall following that shocking divorce news. But fans may already have the best idea possible.

Had Tarek and Heather Rae El Moussa held off on filming early promos for The Flip/Off with Christina and Josh Hall, their current situation may have been slightly easier to figure out away from the public’s eyes and interests. But considering the “Christina & Heather lookalike” teases were unleashed in May 2024, a little over a month before the divorce reports hit, it makes the behind-the-scenes efforts that much more vital to pull off in a way that will make for enjoyable TV while also not crapping on audience expectations.

But I think many HGTV regulars would fall into agreement with the key suggestion that kept popping up online in posts about The Flip/Off in the aftermath of the divorce filing. Everybody seems to have the same idea for who should step up in Josh Hall’s place now that he exited the project. Here are some of the comments that were shared on Reddit in a post about the former couple’s split:

And then over on Instagram, where HGTV and Josh Hall himself shared one of the promos for The Flip/Off, fans were similarly vocal about how the new project should handle replacing its now-absent co-star. And their answers were highly similar as well, as seen below.

For those who may not be aware, the James being referred to is none other than James Bender, a designer who has worked alongside Christina Hall for years as part of her HGTV series Christina on the Coast and Christina in the Country. He also teamed up with her on the competition series Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge to celebrate Greta Gerwig's smash hit film.

Bender is definitely a joy to watch in just about any capacity, bringing both a wealth of knowledge and a measured and positive personality. And the same definitely can't be said for Josh Hall, whom viewers already wanted off of their TVs even before the divorce news went public.

Christina and Josh Hall were married during a small ceremony in September 2022, which meant their nuptials were less than two years old when they both filed for divorce, with her later referring to him as "an insecure man with a large ego." Her prior marriage to Ant Anstead also lasted fewer than two years, though that split didn't outwardly cause any issues with her ongoing TV projects.

How will HGTV decide to move forward with The Flip/Off without Josh Hall? Only time will tell, but if the network wants to please as many people as possible all in one swoop, they should probably get James Bender on the phone.

Christina Hall and Tarek El Moussa have both had a long and successful history with HGTV. The two started down their road to home renovation fame with Flip or Flop, which ended after the 10-year mark in 2022 after a few tumultuous years behind the scenes because of their 2016 split. So, fans were quite surprised when it was announced in the spring that they would return for their first joint series, The Flip Off, after the one that made them household names. Now we know why HGTV is getting into the reality competition business with the former couple, and who came up with those wild look-alike promos for the new show.

Why Is HGTV Doing A Reality Competition With Christina Hall And Tarek El Moussa?

Though Christina Hall and Tarek El Moussa have moved on romantically (he with Selling Sunset star Heather Rae and their son, Tristan) and with their own renovation shows on the ultra popular real estate-focused network, they’ve decided to join forces on TV once again by competing against one another on The Flip Off. The show will have them each renovate a home and flip it, with the one gaining the biggest profit after that sale winning the season. As Hall told Yahoo Entertainment recently, the idea came about pretty naturally now that the exes are “friendly” while co-parenting their two children, Taylor and Brayden:

As she said, the original idea was for El Moussa and his new wife and Hall and her husband, Josh Hall, to compete against each other as couples. However, the Halls recently filed for divorce separately (with Josh having an HGTV-related request), and while there had been some confusion over how that awkwardness would affect the upcoming competition (which will debut with a two-hour premiere at some point in early 2025), we now know that Christina will simply work on her own against Tarek and Heather.

Who Came Up With The Wild Look-Alike Promos For The Flip Off?

The mom of three (she also has one son, Hudson, with ex-husband Ant Anstead) was wondering “what it would look like to bring a flipping show back” after rediscovering her love for the process as she flipped homes in Tennessee. But, she revealed that conversations with Heather led to her coming up with the wild promo ideas for The Flip Off, which have played on obvious physical similarities between the two women. As she noted:

Though the first official teaser for the series, which announced the title and release window, was much more straight-forward, no one can argue with the fact that playing around with how much Heather and Christina look alike and addressing people’s comments about it in a fun way has certainly upped anticipation for the competition to come.

The concept of HGTV’s The Flip Off was already somewhat discomforting, as it playfully pitted Christina Hall and husband Josh against her ex-husband Tarek El Moussa and his wife Heather Rae. The situation got seemingly more awkward this week when the Halls filed for divorce after two years of marriage. Questions about The Flip Off’s fate began circulating as to how or if the series would proceed. We now know the show will go on, with sources divulging how it’s all going to work.

The Flip Off is still headed for a 2025 premiere, but when the home renovation show hits HGTV, it seems it will be without Josh Hall. A source told US Weekly:

The insider added that the breakup between Josh Hall and Christina was not “sudden,” and that the couple “had issues for a while.” Now it would appear Christina — who has requested her last name be reinstated to Haack — will be taking on the El Moussas by herself.

The original premise of the show was to have the two married couples each find, purchase, renovate and sell a house, with the spouses who turned the largest profit earning the bragging rights. It sounds like the divorce was something that may have been anticipated behind the scenes, so it’s possible they already had a plan in place to proceed without Josh Hall. Will Christina bring in other outside help to compensate for his absence? That remains to be seen.

One thing that’s already obvious, though, is how much fun Christina Hall and Heather Rae El Moussa are having with The Flip Off. The HGTV stars have posted a couple of different promos playing up how much Tarek El Moussa’s current wife resembles his ex-wife. While Tarek joins them in the videos to joke, “Well, I guess it is confusing,” Josh Hall does not make an appearance.

Christina Hall and Tarek El Moussa have already proven that they’re capable of working together, despite no longer being romantically involved. While their relationship on Flip or Flop was at times pretty contentious — the couple split in 2016 after an altercation that involved police — they continued to work together into 2022, ending the series after 10 seasons.

Following her split from Tarek El Moussa, with whom she shares two children, Christina married Ant Anstead. They were married for two years before divorcing in 2020, and they share one son. The designer then married Josh Hall in April 2022.

Both Josh and Christina Hall cited irreconcilable differences in separate divorce filings. Josh is requesting spousal support and the rights to any shows or specials that they produced during their marriage for HGTV and/or Discovery. It was unknown if The Flip Off was included in that request, but as he appears to no longer be associated with the show, it’s possible that it’s not.

The concept involved a lot of ribbing and joking about the awkward dynamics of the exes and their new partners working again, but it’s going to get even more awkward now that Christina Hall and Josh Hall filed for divorce. 

What We’ve Seen From The Flip Off

All the promotions for The Flip Off have been well-liked on social media so far. They've played into some of the awkward dynamics of Christina and Tarek's former relationship, and how Heather Rae and Christina might be mistaken for one another from afar (or behind, as one promo for the new series proved). There was a lot of bad press around the time of Christina and Tarek’s split, and the police were called, but they continued working together on Flip or Flop for a time following their break-up and this new series seemed to be a fun gimmick that simultaneously proved bygones were bygones and allowed for some funny banter between the two couples. 

Even Tarek and Josh got into the buddy-buddy fun, pitting themselves against the women in their family, with Josh joking at the time their “beer” was better than the “champagne” the ladies are into.

But now Hall is going through another divorce, her third since 2018 when she and Tarek El Moussa finalized. A second marriage to Ant Anstead did not work out, but in 2022 Christina and Josh were married, and celebrated their second wedding anniversary earlier this year.

Why The Hall Divorce News Is Awkward Timing 

The big elephant in the room? The Flip Off’s not expected to hit HGTV until 2025. Presumably, given all the heavy promos we’ve been privy to in recent months, the concept and more are off the ground. If the Season 1 episodes are done, it’s likely going to be similar to The Kardashians, a show in which it’s historically been sort of weird for the audience to see a couple together onscreen sometimes months after a breakup. If the whole thing hasn’t filmed yet, it could get even more awkward, as I’d assume the fate of The Flip Off hangs in balance. That would be a shame, as it’s a fun idea. 

Prior to the news breaking that Christina and Josh are divorcing, the longtime reality star made a comment about what is going on in her personal life, telling E! she was looking for more “peace” and “calm” in her life away from the drama.

Meanwhile, I am not envious of the position HGTV is in now. The show has had its share of drama in the past with Tarek and Christina's split, Windy City Rehab drama, and Chip and Joanna leaving Fixer Upper to pursue their own brand. But the timing on this announcement could not be less spectacular and I don’t envy any decisions the network will have to make as we get closer to 2025. 

Will the show continue? Will interest actually be higher in The Flip Off given the personal life stuff that was seemingly going on behind the scenes? We’ll be sure, of course, to keep you posted if any additional details break.

What Happens In The Promo For Tarek El Moussa And Christina Hall’s The Flip Off?

While they had to weather some rough times both during their marriage and after the split (like that infamous on-set tirade from Tarek El Moussa to Christina Hall in 2021), El Moussa has long been settled down with wife, Heather, and their young son, while Hall is now married to Josh Hall. Seeing as how both have moved on personally, it seems that they felt it was the right time to (sort of) join forces professionally again with the competition, The Flip Off. 

The series, which is coming in early 2025 with a two-hour premiere, will see both couples face off as they renovate and flip one house each, with the duo that nets the biggest profit after the flip winning. A recent promo for the show actually played up just how much Christina and Heather look alike. See for yourself:

WOW. Alright, I gotta say, this is wild. While I had certainly noticed that Mr. El Moussa seems to have a preferred type when it comes to the ladies, never in life was I expecting him, his current wife and his ex to so willingly acknowledge it. It does show that both couples have a sense of humor about their current (co-parenting filled) relationship, though, so at least that’s healthy.

The other thing that really stands out about this spot is that if you’re a fan of either or both new couples who didn’t know that a joint show was in the works, boy howdy would you ever be confused right now. They made no mention of The Flip Off here, and just went with Tarek accidentally delivering a coffee to Christina, Heather thinking something might be up and slapping the mess outta him for it. (As a severe side-note: Where’s this restaurant? It looks really cool!)

This is hardly the first time that these three have participated in such a promo to make folks wonder about what’s going on with them. It was around mid-May that another one went up on Instagram, that played on the same theme:

I do wonder just how much of this “Heather and Christina look alike” thing we’re going to get prior to the new series premiering, and once we can finally see it. So, geez, I guess we all have to watch it, huh?

HGTV star Tarek El Moussa is opening up about his darkest times in a new book that chronicles his hitting rock bottom and climbing back to the success he enjoys now. The book Flip Your Life: How to Find Opportunity in Distress — in Real Estate, Business and Life, even details his perspective of the viral incident that came out after his split from Christina Hall that involved a gun and a 911 call. 

As readers may recall, news surfaced after Tarek El Moussa and Christina Hall's split that deputies were called to the house to search the back of the property after reports of a "possibly suicidal male with a gun." In his book (via People), El Moussa took the opportunity to present his version of what went down, and it's different than what was reported. 

According to El Moussa, he had jumped the back fence of their then-home to scout out some trails to ride some new mountain bikes they had just purchased. He took a .38 pistol as an "insurance policy" to protect against wildlife, as the house was close to the Chino Hills State Park. He went on to say he only realized something was wrong when he saw helicopters overhead and soon realized that they were searching for him:

Following the incident and separation Tarek El Moussa explained he spent weeks drinking himself unconscious and dealing with severe withdrawals due to lack of testosterone he'd been taking before friends finally led him to a rehab facility. It took some time, but El Moussa eventually found his way back to Flip Or Flop and even filmed with Christina Hall. Granted, there were altercations that took place at first, but they eventually found a way to move forward following the outburst. 

Life has improved for Tarek El Moussa since then, as he's currently married to his wife Heather Rae, with whom he'll be returning to HGTV for Flipping El Moussas Season 2. There's no return date on the 2024 TV schedule for the season yet, but it's possible, given the release of Season 1, that the new season could be coming in April. 

Tarek El Moussa's ex, Christina Hall, is also having a good deal of success separate from him on HGTV. She is still married to her current husband, Joshua Hall, and co-parents with El Moussa with their two children, Taylor and Braden. It will be interesting to see what other details about El Moussa and his life outside of reality television surface in the book.

One of HGTV’s most popular hosting duos, Tarek El Moussa and wife Heather Rae El Moussa, have remained largely mum about the future of their shared reality series The Flipping El Moussas following its Season 1 run earlier this year. But while much of the entertainment industry remains in flux over various strikes, these two celebs are able to go public with celebrating the fact that the show has already been renewed for a bigger than expected Season 2, which is set to air at some point next year. And you can bet the couple celebrated the news in a way that should get fans riled up with excitement.

Both Tarek and Heather Rae El Moussa took to their Instagram pages after HGTV spread the news, and shared that they’re so pumped to bring this series back to TV viewers, and I bet fans will definitely feel their energy wafting from their words. Here’s how they put it:

For those wondering how Season 2 of The Flipping El Moussas will be even bigger than before, HGTV is nearly doubling the number of episodes that fans will see. Season 1 consisted of eight episodes, while the second batch will comprise a whopping 14 hour-long installments. And as one might imagine, that means also nearly doubling the amount of challenges, aggravations and risks, which will presumably be balanced by an uptick in successes, rewards and feelings of accomplishment. And at the moment, the network is set to debut the newseason in early 2024, though without any further specifics.

As the show's title suggests, these eps aren't solely focused on the professional side of things, but also dig into the El Moussas as a family unit. And that unit now includes a new(ish) baby, as the couple welcomed their first child together in January. (Tarek El Moussa is the father of two sons, Tay and Bray, from his previous marriage to Christina Haack, with whom he hosted Flip or Flop for many years, even beyond their split.) So viewers will get to watch the lead-up to that life-changing birth, as well as the aftermath, with the family of five attempting to keep things fun and easy-going on the home front while dealing with the stress of SoCal real estate for their daily grind.

Heather Rae El Moussa teased her social media followers the day ahead of the Season 2 renewal, saying that news was on the way that everyone was dying to hear about. And she reflected on such hint-hinting in her Instagram Stories, as seen below. 

It may sound like a long time to wait before Season 2 gets here, but considering the finale just aired at the end of April, it shouldn't be too much of a strain. And for those who may have not caught all of the initial eight episodes upon their initial airing, everything can be streamed in full with a Max subscription, which is where viewers can also find the first two seasons of Flipping 101, which also stars the power(drill) couple. Fingers crossed news about a third season of that series is just over the horizon at HGTV.

There was something special about Christina Hall and Tarek El Moussa when they started hosting Flip or Flop on HGTV back in 2013, and audiences stayed tuned into their house flipping dynamic for a full 10 seasons before they shut the door on that chapter last year. While many were shocked by the announcement that Flip or Flop was ending, it was probably more surprising that it made it that long in the first place, due to its hosts breaking up four years in, and Hall recently opened up about what it was like to film with her ex-husband for so long.

The El Moussas went through some tough times in the early days of Flip or Flop, and Tarek admitted he “hit rock bottom” as he battled cancer and a back injury. It didn’t get any easier for them personally, as they split in 2017 before divorcing in 2018, and the host of Christina on the Coast and Christina in the Country — both of which were just renewed by HGTV — explained how she and her ex-husband made it work. She told US Weekly (via Deadline): 

While their relationship — and therefore the tension between them — was certainly an aspect of Flip or Flop, it was ultimately a home renovation show. No matter what was happening between her and Tarek El Moussa, Christina Hall could always turn the focus back on the work and then walk away at the end of the day. She was not required to get on camera and talk about the state of their relationship, as she might have been on a different kind of reality show.

That doesn’t mean that their personal issues never caused problems on set though. In 2021 it was reported that Tarek El Moussa went on a tirade against Christina Hall, with El Moussa reportedly calling his ex-wife a “washed up loser” and saying his then-fiancée Heather Rae Young (now his wife) was richer and hotter than Hall. The exes also allegedly had to film scenes separately several times, or take a day to cool off before returning to set.

Such a situation could only last so long, so it actually makes sense as they each moved on in their personal lives that their professional lives would also start to take different paths. Flip or Flop had become “too intimate” of a setting for where they were with their new partners, and they’ve both moved on to new shows with their new spouses.

What’s Tarek El Moussa’s New Show With Heather Rae And How Is It Different From Flip Or Flop?

For those who may have been out of the house flipping loop for a bit now, while the Flip or Flop exes had each previously moved on to their own spinoffs shows like Christina in the Country and Flipping 101, March 2 saw the premiere of The Flipping El Moussas. The new series will once again see Tarek buying shoddy homes with his wife to fix up and sell, so many viewers might wonder what makes this program different from what he did with his ex-wife for so many years. As he recently told E! News:

If you tuned in to even a few episodes of his former hit show, you’ll know that it spent most of each episode focusing on the renovation of one home, with a bit of the couple’s personal life sprinkled in for good measure. Though fans definitely saw the duo and their revamp crews deal with things like unforeseen costs and issues with getting permits, there wasn’t a real emphasis on delving into the inner workings of the (probably pretty intricate) business side of things and the many logistics involved in flipping houses. 

So, this new take on a home show does give it an edge as people try to compare it with his previous series. He continued, and said:

As any dedicated home flip show viewer can tell you, one thing that you don’t tend to see a lot of on these programs is the flippers shelling out millions of dollars on houses that will still need an additional several thousands of dollars of updates. There are several series where those in charge gleefully pay $20,000 or less for some of the scariest properties imaginable and then turn them into great places to live.

But, the star, who recently became a dad for the third time with the late January birth of his new son, Tristan Jay El Moussa, noted that his new show will feature more expensive homes, and that can be seen in a clip from the first season that was posted on YouTube. While he and Hall seemed to usually spend about $500,000 or less on homes to fix up, the house in the clip from The Flipping El Moussas is valued at $2.15 million dollars before any renovation, and that’s a steep incline compared to what he used to spend.

He also noted that the all important finishing touches they put on each home matter more than ever, and that Heather Rae will be doing a lot of the heavy lifting in that regard:

In the aforementioned clip, you can hear the “present, involved” new mom (who was pregnant during filming) talk about the design being “luxury,” so it sounds like anyone wanting to be inspired by homes with as many fancy bells and whistles as possible can really look forward to watching this show every week.
