It may seem that your favorite character from your favorite TV show was always part of the main cast, but that might not be the case. In fact, some of the most iconic TV characters were never meant to last more than one or two episodes until a behind-the-scenes decision changed their fate. The following are some famous examples that might have you looking at your favorite show's next guest star differently.

Jesse Pinkman (Breaking Bad)

It was not just three-time Emmy winner Aaron Paul's brilliant, empathetic performance as Jesse Pinkman that kept him in the Breaking Bad cast until the end. Creator Vince Gilligan had a pitch for the early demise of Walter White's (Bryan Cranston) student-turned-partner that shocked studio executives so deeply, that he scrapped the idea and, thankfully, kept the fan-favorite character alive.

Andy Dwyer (Parks And Recreation)

The lovably absent-minded Andy Dwyer was originally meant to appear in just six episodes from the first season of Parks and Recreation when he was still dating Ann Perkins (Rashida Jones). Michael Schur found future blockbuster leading man Chris Pratt just too funny not to keep around, leading to his series regular promotion and Andy's eventual romance with April Ludgate (Aubrey Plaza).

Arthur "The Fonz" Fonzarelli (Happy Days)

The role that made Henry Winkler a star would eventually be the star of Happy Days. However, "Fonzy" was originally introduced as a small-sized character before the audience's rousing enthusiasm convinced producers to make his presence more frequent.

Frasier Crane (Cheers)

Kelsey Grammer's stint in the Cheers cast as Seattle-based psychiatrist Frasier Crane was originally meant to last only a few episodes. Yet, he became one of the NBC sitcom's most popular characters and went on to lead his own self-titled spin-off that was arguably as good as the original series.

Spike (Buffy The Vampire Slayer)

Spike started out as just another vampire for Sarah Michelle Gellar's titular hero to fight when he was first introduced in the second season of Joss Whedon's hit series. However, his subsequent popularity would ensure that James Masters got a regular role in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer cast and even became a love interest for Buffy.

Chandler Bing And Phoebe Buffay (Friends)

Before Matthew Perry and Lisa Kudrow were added to the Friends cast as Chandler and Phoebe, the sitcom was going to mainly focus on just four young New Yorkers. That was until the actors' natural charisma convinced creators David Crane and Marta Kauffman that they deserved starring roles instead of occasional appearances like they initially envisioned.

Carol Hathaway (ER)

If the pilot of ER were filmed exactly as it was originally written, it would been the first and last episode featuring Carol Hathaway (Julianna Margulies), who was initially going to take her own life. When test audiences made note of the nurse manager's chemistry with George Clooney as Doug Ross, the head writers kept her alive and on the show until Margulies left in Season 6.

Luke Danes (Gilmore Girls)

Diner owner Luke Danes was originally written as a woman, but creator Amy Sherman-Palladino did a gender swap when the network asked for more male characters. It was not until they noticed the chemistry between Gilmore Girls cast members Scott Patterson and Lauren Graham that their will-they-won't-they dynamic was incorporated into the dramedy.

Lafayette Reynolds (True Blood)

In only the second novel from Charlaine Harris' book series, The Southern Vampire Mysteries, Lafayette Reynolds is murdered. However, the psychic cook's onscreen counterpart (played by Nelsan Ellis) lived on in the HBO series adaptation (and one of the best horror TV shows on Max), True Blood, after developer Alan Ball realized how well the character fit in the world.

Castiel (Supernatural)

Played by Misha Collins (when possessing the body of Jimmy Novak), Castiel first appeared on Supernatural in Season 4 for what was intended to be just a three-season arc. Soon after, however, Collins was promoted to a series regular and the angel would remain a trusted ally to Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) Winchester.

Steve Urkel (Family Matters)

At first, ABC's spin-off of Perfect Strangers followed the lives of the Winslows, until the family sitcom's star family took a backseat to their nerdy neighbor, Steve Urkel. After Jaleel White's Season 1 guest spot rescued the show from cancellation, he made more appearances and was promoted to a series regular in the Family Matters cast in Season 2.

Andy Bernard (The Office)

Ed Helms' role as The Office character Andy Bernard was introduced in Season 3, which was initially conceived as his sole year on the mockumentary sitcom. However, creator Greg Daniels really liked the character and brought him back from anger management to be a permanent fixture of the Dunder Mifflin family.

Sgt. Fin Tutuola (Law & Order: SVU)

While most famous for a song about killing cops, rapper Ice-T's most famous acting role is, ironically, a police officer on Law & Order: SVU. Also ironic is the fact that Fin Tutuloa was originally conceived as a five-episode guest role in 2000, but would remain a regular part of the cast.

Jack Shephard (Lost)

Before Matthew Fox joined the Lost cast as Jack Shephard, the character was supposed to die in the pilot to establish that no character was safe in the survival drama. In fact, Michael Keaton signed on to play the role under this condition but dropped out when they decided to make him the lead because he did not want to commit to a series at the time.

Felicity Smoak (Arrow)

Based on the DC Comics character of the same name, Felicity Smoak was initially introduced in the first season of Arrow in a recurring role. Emily Bett Rickards would be promoted to series regular, however, when the role was promoted to Oliver Queen's primary love interest.

Steve Harrington (Stranger Things)

A prime example of a character who underwent a major personality change is Steve Harrington (Joe Kerry), who was initially introduced in Stranger Things' first season as some archetypal '80s high school bully with an expiration date. However, fans' unexpectedly positive response, thankfully, led to the character's revamping and ensured Keery would be a valuable member of the Hawkins crew.

Boyd Crowder (Justified)

Watching U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant) and career criminal Boyd Crowder (Walton Goggins) flip back and forth is one of the most addictive elements of Justified. Thus, we are thankful Boyd survived the pilot episode instead of being killed, like in Elmore Leonard's original short story, "Fire in the Hole," and that Goggins was promoted to series regular.

NoHo Hank (Barry)

Anthony Carrigan is easily one of the standouts of HBO's Barry cast for his performance as Chechen criminal NoHo Hank. It is no wonder his role expanded beyond Season 1 despite initial plans to kill him off.

The Armorer (The Mandalorian)

The Armorer (Emily Swallow) is one of the most fascinating and multi-layered characters from Disney+'s Star Wars Universe TV show, The Mandalorian. Her arc nearly ended with the first season in a scrapped scene that depicted her sacrificing her life.

Logan Roy (Succession)

No one could have succeeded in the role that Logan Roy played in HBO's Succession cast, but there could have been a major void left in his place had things gone as originally planned. Brian Cox's role was meant to die after Season 1, but instead survived and became one of the hit dramedy's most beloved characters.

Topanga Lawrence (Boy Meets World)

In creators Michael Jacobs and April Kelly's TGIF favorite, Topanga Lawrence was first introduced as that one weird girl in Cory Matthews' (Ben Savage) class. Soon enough, however, Danielle Fishel would be promoted to a series regular in the Boy Meets World cast after it was decided that the character would be Cory's love interest.

Gunther (Friends)

James Michael Tyler was merely hired on Friends as a background actor for scenes taking place at the Central Perk at first. In Season 2, however, the coffee shop manager was given the name Gunther, and the actor was promoted to a recurring supporting role that went on to appear in 185 episodes total.

Janitor (Scrubs)

The unnamed Janitor was originally conceived as a recurring role because it was going to be revealed at the end of Season 1 that he only existed in J.D.'s (Zach Braff) imagination. Creator Bill Lawrence decided to scrap that idea and make Neil Flynn a main part of the Scrubs cast after noticing the actor's improvisational skills, which ended beautifully for the character.

President Josiah Bartlet (The West Wing)

When Aaron Sorkin first conceived the idea for his Emmy-winning political drama, it was meant to focus primarily on the White House staff, with the President of the United States only showing up every so often or even not at all. Luckily, that changed and Martin Sheen's performance in NBC's The West Wing cast as Josiah Bartlet became one of the most beloved and inspiring highlights of the series.

Elijah Krantz (Girls)

Broadway theatre sensation Andrew Rannells first joined the cast of HBO's Girls as Hannah's formerly closeted college boyfriend Elijah Krantz in a very minor role before coming back occasionally during the first three years. By the dramedy's fourth season, creators Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner decided to add Rannells as a series regular and Elijah went on to become one of the series' most memorably funny characters.

April Ludgate (Parks And Recreation)

April Ludgate from Parks and Recreation is more than just a character who was not originally planned for a big role. There were no plans for her to be a part of the show at all until creator Michael Schur met Aubrey Plaza during the casting process and was so impressed with her talent that he invented a role just for her.

Aram Mojtabai (The Blacklist)

In the first season of NBC's The Blacklist, Aram Mojtabai was brought in by the FBI as a cyber crime consultant for what was only meant to be one episode. However, the writers responded well to actor Amir Arison's ad-libbing, started calling him back for more episodes, and made him a series regular in Season 2. 

Summer Roberts (The O.C.)

Rachel Bilson had very little screen time in the first episode of The O.C. and her character, Summer Robert, was practically written as an unnamed friend to Marrissa (Mischa Barton). Creator Josh Schwartz found the actor's grasp on the character to be very compelling and her chemistry with Seth actor Adam Brody led him to write her a much bigger part for the coming-of-age drama.

Joshua Rosza (The Originals)

Steven Krueger was first brought in for a minor recurring stint on The Originals as Joshua Rosza. However, by season 5, the vampire character became a regular role in the hit supernatural drama.

Killian Jones/Captain Hook (Once Upon A Time)

When ABC's fantasy series Once Upon a Time brought in Killian Jones (who is really Peter Pan's nemesis, Captain Hook), it was initially meant to be for a five-episode run in Season 2. While he quickly became a fan favorite due to his chemistry with Jennifer Morrison, his promotion to a regular role really came about when the cast and crew became deeply impressed with Colin O'Donoghue's performance.

Brittany S. Pierce (Glee)

Heather Morris was initially brought on to the Glee set to help teach the cast members how to do the dance from Beyonce's "Single Ladies" video before she ended up landing a guest role as Brittany Pierce. However, after he discovered her comedic talents, co-creator Ryan Murphy began giving the once-frequently silent cheerleader more things to say before making Morris a series regular.

Kima Greggs (The Wire)

While filming the first season of The Wire, Sonja Sohn discovered by accident that her arc as Shakima "Kima" Greggs was originally intended to end in the 10th episode of the crime drama. Luckily, HBO executive Carolyn Strauss expressed interest in the character, convincing showrunner David Simon to have her survive her planned shooting and come back for the remainder of the series.

A television era has come to an end with the series finale of Legacies, which was the third and final installment in the TV universe started by The Vampire Diaries back in 2009. It was only fitting that the final episode managed to bring in appearances from some of the biggest stars of both TVD and The Originals, with Candice King returning as Caroline after previously making a voice cameo and, of course, the very long-awaited return of Joseph Morgan as Klaus Mikaelson. 

Morgan revealed his return ahead of the finale and previewed that it would be centered on Klaus and Hope, but fans had to wait until the last episode to see the actor back in Mikaelson mode to deliver some Originals and Legacies closure. Now, it’s safe to say that the finale honored Klaus (and Morgan) in his return without breaking all the rules and bringing the character back to vampiric life. 

The first mention of Klaus came when Hope received a package containing her father’s ashes in an urn, and she wanted nothing more than for him to be at peace. Her best bet seemed to be keeping his ashes at the Salvatore School… which immediately went sideways when Alaric announced that the school was shutting down after Ethan’s death. She reached out to Landon for his help in contacting her father, since he wasn’t at peace and Landon theoretically should have had access to him. 

It wasn’t quite that simple, particularly with the complication of Landon paying the price for sending his deceased friends back to life in the action-packed penultimate episode. Still, by combining their powers and getting creative, Hope was able to get a message from her father, even though it wasn’t quite the conversation she wanted. Klaus said:

If you weren’t already emotional at the beginning of Klaus’ message or when he started crying while speaking to his “miracle child,” I’m guessing the “always and forever” did it for a lot of us who watched! It was a bittersweet moment, as Hope got the closure that she needed about her father’s peace, but she didn’t get to interact with him, and fans didn’t see him back to interact with her or anybody else. That said, she realized that she could simply release his ashes on the grounds of the Salvatore School, and that would be enough to honor him. 

And in handling Klaus’ story this way, Legacies also honored what Joseph Morgan has said about coming back to play his character. He previously said that he felt Klaus’ story had been told completely from “beginning to end,” and he thought it “would be a bit cheap” to do something like “a flashback or as a ghost or something.” After he revealed that he was going to reprise his role for the Legacies finale, he shared that he’d been “asked again and again to make an appearance” on the show but that it “never felt right” until now, and he felt “passionate” about it. 

So, Legacies managed to honor Klaus, his relationship with Hope, the legacies of The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, and Joseph Morgan in the finale. Even though the cancellation came against the wishes of Julie Plec, the team put together a pretty fitting finale that followed the example set by TVD before it. The CW’s supernatural drama Legacies was among the many shows to be cancelled last month, and it marked the end of the fictional universe started by The Vampire Diaries in 2009. Ahead of Thursday's series finale, TVD vet Kat Graham has spoken out about her refusal to return, yet another star will make an appearance: Joseph Morgan. The star, who portrayed Niklaus Mikaelson on both TVD and The Originals, has now opened up being asked "again and again" to reprise his role.

Fans of The Originals surely remember the heartbreaking series finale, in which Klaus and Elijah sacrificed each other for the greater good and saved the former's daughter, Hope, in the process. Legacies has explored the aftermath of that fateful episode with Hope Mikaelson, who recently proved that she is her father’s daughter. So theoretically, this would be the perfect time for a reunion between the two.

Joseph Morgan took to Instagram to share a video he recorded before filming his scene in the upcoming finale, noting that Klaus has remained in his heart, and he’s taken notice of fans' desire to have him back in the fold:

In 2020, Joseph Morgan opened up about why he wasn’t interested in returning as Klaus anytime soon. At the time, he didn't want to return in a flashback or as a ghost since the conclusion of The Originals felt like it was “really the end” for the character. So two years later, the time is finally right and, whether or not it was indeed the persistent inquires from fans that spurred his decision, I'm just glad he's back. Check out his post down below:

As of right now, it’s unclear as to exactly how much of Klaus fans will see in the finale. The penultimate installment definitely set up an emotional series finale, meaning that fans could be in an eventful hour of TV this coming week. At this point, there's honestly no telling how things might come to an end. And considering the show's abrupt cancellation, one can only hope that there's some sense of closure.

During its run, Legacies featured a decent amount of guest stars from both The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. Just recently, there was even a Mikaelson family reunion of sorts, as Hope was seeing hallucinations of her family. That's enough to make one even more curious regarding how Klaus will be brought back after all this time. (On a side note, I'd also love for Phoebe Tonkin to make a surprise appearance as Hayley.) Whatever happens, though, I'm sure the writers and the returning Joseph Morgan are going to give persistent viewers all the feels as this franchise comes to an end.

The end is nigh for Legacies as the third and final show in the TV universe started by The Vampire Diaries, but fans didn't have to wait until next week's series finale to see the final battle of Hope and the Super Squad vs. Ken. The showdown happened after lots of fatalities, some fortunate resurrections courtesy of Landon in Limbo, and ultimately Ken's death. So, what's next now that the big battle is seemingly done? Well, according to The Originals' Joseph Morgan, Klaus will make a long-awaited and unexpected appearance. 

Joseph Morgan, who of course played Klaus Mikaelson first on The Vampire Diaries and then on The Originals (both of which you can revisit with a Netflix subscription), dropped the reveal on Instagram Live. The video wasn't saved on the social media platform, but fans were quick enough to capture his message about the series finale of Legacies, and one shared it on Twitter. Morgan said:

So, there we have it! Klaus will appear in the series finale of Legacies, but it sounds like fans won't see much of him if Joseph Morgan specifically said that he'll appear for "a fleeting moment" and "that's it." Klaus didn't appear in the promo that aired after the penultimate episode of the series, so it's possible that the show really only has a small amount of him and wants to save all footage for the big reveal... or Joseph Morgan made the reveal early. 

Either way, I think it's safe to say that no matter how long Klaus is in the finale, it'll be pretty emotional after Hope and Aurora's exchange before Aurora's death in "This Can Only End in Blood." Shippers just shouldn't hold out hope that his appearance will have anything to do with romance. Of course, Klaus is quite definitively dead, so the big question is how he'll return. Morgan previously said that he wasn't interested in reprising the role because Klaus had a "complete story" and "beginning to end" from The Originals, so it seems likely that whatever happens will benefit Hope's story rather than change anything about Klaus' arc. 

Plus, we have to account for Joseph Morgan's tweet last month, which managed to both partially debunk and partially support the possibility of him turning up before the end. He took to Twitter in late May (which was after the Legacies cancellation as part of what creator Julie Plec dubbed a "Red Wedding") to post: 

Now, if we take Joseph Morgan at his word about not seeing anybody from The Vampire Diaries universe "in person" for years in light of his recent reveal about his return, then it's possible that he filmed a cameo via Zoom or some other kind of method that didn't require him on set. (He has been shooting Titans for his new role on the superhero show.) And he reiterated that Klaus is dead, so his appearance in the finale presumably won't be a resurrection. But the formatting of the tweet that mentioned "hidden codes" also spelled out "FInALE" on the left margin, so it seems that he was indeed dropping clues.

Legacies brought out the big guns in an attempt to restore Hope’s humanity, and welcomed back a number of characters from The Originals, a.k.a. the first spinoff of The Vampire Diaries. The family reunion only partially helped Hope see the value in her humanity, but for fans it served another purpose. Namely, it revealed the status of what’s going on between Claire Holt’s Rebekah and Charles Michael Davis’ Marcel. 

The Originals’ fans likely remember where things left off between the two in the series finale, when Rebekah asked Marcel to marry her. The proposal came with a catch, however, as Rebekah explained to Marcel that when the opportunity arose for her to travel to Mystic Falls and take the cure, he’d have to be okay with her aging and dying. Then, when Rebekah appeared on Legacies earlier in the season (in an episode you can rewatch with a Hulu subscription) and didn’t mention Marcel, it seemed like their relationship status could be up in the air. 

Thankfully, Marcel’s arrival in the latest episode put the whole thing to rest rather quickly. Marcel made a comment to Rebekah about how she was the one “foolish enough to marry” him, thus making it canon. Marcel and Rebekah got married after all, so any fans of The Originals worried about that can rest easy. 

For anyone feeling a bit silly they ever doubted, don’t. Charles Michael Davis admitted to TVLine that even he had his doubts that Marcel and Rebekah would ultimately end up together, based on their past in The Originals and how much easier it was to return in Legacies:

Legacies didn’t really flesh out the details of Marcel and Rebekah’s married life, but I think based on that interaction between the two at what could be described as a tense time, it seems like the marriage is working out. That feels like a good note to leave the relationship and an upside to what was largely a downer episode.

Let’s be honest – there wasn’t a lot to love about this Legacies episode beyond The Originals cast appearance. Hope is still hellbent on fighting her humanity, Prometheus double-crossed everyone (and he seemed like a nice guy when we met him), and it looks like the gods will awaken and kill everyone in the Salvatore School and beyond. I mean, I’m sure things will eventually work out, but damn. Hope needs to figure her stuff out and get back to bailing everyone out of apocalyptic scenarios. 

Legacies airs on The CW on Thursdays at 9:00 p.m. ET. Season 4 is just humming right along, so it’ll be interesting to see where this whole adventure ends up by the end of the season.

Legacies kept Hope Mikaelson evil for quite a while, but it always seemed inevitable that her humanity would eventually resurface. Following the recent emotional breakdown where it seemed that Hope was finally letting some feelings show through, we saw her literally fighting with her subconscious human self. So, no, her humanity returning wasn’t another fakeout, and this latest development will ultimately bring back some stars from The Originals. 

The CW series revealed ahead of time that Claire Holt, Charles Michael Davis, Nathaniel Buzolic, and Riley Voelkel were appearing in their roles from The Originals in an upcoming episode of Legacies, but the reason for their visit wasn’t quite clear. The synopsis for the upcoming episode shares that Hope’s struggle with her humanity will continue, which is a factor:

The Originals’ actors will appear in the upcoming Legacies episode, though the circumstances of how they appear is still a mystery. It’s unclear, for example, if Hope is just imagining them in a way similar to imagining her human subconscious talking to her, or there’s some other magic at play. It’s possible that they’re all back just like Claire Holt’s Rebekah appeared earlier in the season, and I’m just overthinking things. 

The trailer for the next Legacies episode doesn’t do much to clarify things either. Check it out below, and get a look at all the characters who will be there, as well as Hope’s surprised face.

No doubt there are many fans of The Originals (stream it now with a Netflix subscription) excited for this reunion, even if it is short-lived. Perhaps seeing those closest to her will inspire Hope to finally let her humanity take control and successfully foil Aurora’s Hope-destroying plan to awaken the gods (yes, there are gods in Legacies now.) Unfortunately, it seems like even that could not be enough to overcome the gods, but we’ll just have to wait and see if that’s really the case. 

Legacies airs on The CW on Thursdays at 9:00 p.m. ET. It seems that a battle with the gods isn’t that far off, so hopefully, the Salvatore School teens are prepared to take on foes that could even give Malivore a run for his money.

Legacies is the thread that keeps Julie Plec's Vampire Diaries and The Originals shared universe intact on The CW, and the spinoff series is thankfully still going strong on the network. Given its connective tissue, Legacies has occasionally brought in cast members from the other two series, much to fans' delight, and following Claire Holt’s return as Rebekah Mikaelson earlier this season, the series is getting an even bigger Mikaelson family reunion!

Charles Michael Davis and Nathaniel Buzolic are set to join their former Originals co-stars Claire Holt and Riley Voelkel in an upcoming episode of Legacies. The episode is set to air on April 14, according to EW, and will feature Hope "seeing" Rebekah, Marcel, Kol, and Freya as she “continues to be swirled in confusion and fighting her humanity,” per the official episode synopsis. 

It will be interesting to see how the four of them interact with Hope, since it sounds like she won’t actually be meeting with them, but rather hallucinating them. Rebekah already tried to help her niece earlier this season, but maybe she will have better luck if she has three people with her, regardless of if they're physical or not. 

 This is the first time Davis and Buzolic will appear on Legacies, which is a big win for all involved. It will be the second time for Holt, who popped up first in the Season 4 premiere, and the third time for Voelkel, who has kept herself busy with Starz's Hightown and NBC's Chicago Med. 

With Legacies being a spinoff, the series is no stranger to having TVD and Originals stars guest star. Last year the series had a musical episode in the vein of Supernatural's self-referential musical, and was based on the events that happened on The Vampire Diaries. That installment included a surprise cameo from Candice King, who reprised her role as Caroline Forbes in the form of a voiceover for a letter penned to daughter Lizzie.

There have been other guest appearances on Legacies, and while this upcoming one likely won’t be the last. One TVD and The Originals alum that would be down for an appearance on the supernatural drama is Sebastian Roché, who portrayed Mikael. In 2020, the actor expressed interest in returning but that it was all up to Legacies boss Julie Plec.

Meanwhile, as for what exactly is going on with Hope that will bring her to see her family, a recent development on the show may prove that not all “hope” is lost on her and her humanity. She turned it off at the start of the season following Landon’s death and after multiple failed attempts, it looked like she was gone for good. The tri-brid has been struggling with her feelings and humanity, so hopefully her family will knock some sense into her.

It's unknown whether Charles Michael Davis, Nathaniel Buzolic, Claire Holt, and Riley Voelkel will return after the upcoming episode but it isn’t out of the question. Fingers crossed that their characters will be able to get through to Hope someone, but it seems like her spiraling may be the beginning of something more.

Legacies brought in The Originals’ Claire Holt to reprise her role as Rebekah Mikaelson, but this wasn’t the happy little cameo that The CW series has delivered from time to time. Rebekah actually arrived in the episode to confront her newly-transformed Tribrid niece Hope and tried her best to help her through her new transformation. Her efforts were valiant, but ultimately in vain, so does that mean we’ve seen the last of Rebekah? 

It’s a question Legacies’ viewers may ask, especially after Hope gave her necklace to her aunt Rebekah. Hope reckoned there was some sort of spell or enchantment on the gifted necklace that allowed Rebekah to track her down to the random bar she was causing trouble at. The returned necklace signaled Hope turning her back on family, and it was clear Rebekah felt that loud and clear. Hope drove off and stranded her aunt at the bar, off to find some mysterious Triad leader she’s hoping to link up with. 

Rebekah stared as the car drove off, and as hurt as she was, it’s hard to imagine she’s given up on helping Hope. Plus, Legacies fans may already be wondering when Hope will regain her humanity, and as such, regret being such a jerk to everyone in her life. Once Hope’s humanity returns (assuming it can), she’s going to want her necklace back. That necklace is currently in Rebekah’s possession, so there’s a chance we’ll see Claire Holt again so that Hope can apologize and get it back. I’m not so sure Rebekah would accept that apology after some of the stuff Hope put her through in this latest episode, but I’m also not ruling out her being the bigger person for the sake of her niece’s well-being. 

Officially speaking, however, we don’t have any indication of whether or not Claire Holt will return to Legacies Season 4. We just know that Hope didn’t do anything to prevent her aunt from continuing to pursue her, and that she left Rebekah with a necklace that holds some sentimental value to her. I can’t say that Rebekah Mikaelson will have a significant role moving forward, but there does seem to be an opportunity for her to re-enter the story at a later date. For now, though, we can only speculate until we get some confirmation on a potential return via the crew or upcoming episode descriptions. 

Legacies airs over at The CW on Thursdays at 9:00 p.m. ET. Tribrid Hope’s arc is off to an exciting start, and it will only get more exciting if Claire Holt and other stars from The Originals and The Vampire Diaries show up for the fun. Fingers crossed that’s in the cards. 

The Originals came to a tragic end for Joseph Morgan's Klaus Mikaelson, but that doesn't mean there can't be some merriness about the character despite his divisive demise. While Klaus himself wasn't the jolliest fellow ever to feed on the blood of another human in the Vampire Diaries universe, Morgan himself brought Klaus into an exchange with Netflix that couldn't be much more random, and was all the funnier for it.

The Netflix Family account on Twitter was trying to share the Christmas spirit with a list of holiday offerings, but Joseph Morgan saw the top pick a different way than intended, in the best way. Take a look!

Netflix Family may be #herefortheholidays, but Joseph Morgan is here for his Vampire Diaries and Originals character. The Netflix account was obviously trying to hype the Christmas comedy Klaus that was distributed by Netflix will a killer voice cast in 2019, and the title is just short enough to be the perfect tree-topper for the tweet. And it just happens to be a perfect shout-out to Morgan's iconic Originals role, depending on how you look at it!

Joseph Morgan is officially not an actor who is against shouting out to the role that made him famous, and it seems that the person who runs the Netflix Twitter account was either a fan of The Originals or did some online digging after Morgan joked that Christmas tree topper was about Klaus Mikaelson, because the rest of the exchange should make any former Originals viewers pretty happy. Check it out:

The main Netflix account didn't break the "news" to Joseph Morgan that the original post was about a Christmas movie rather than the lead of The Originals, but it prompted Morgan to break out the Mikaelson family motto of "Always and forever." That wasn't even the end of the exchange, with Netflix responding with "and ever and ever". Happy holidays, Originals fans!

If you'd rather celebrate the season with some CW vampire action than any of the holiday movies that Netflix suggested, you can find all five seasons of The Originals streaming on Netflix now. Joseph Morgan has already weighed in on potentially reprising his role as Klaus on the ongoing Legacies spinoff, so The Originals will be the top place to see him.

It's been almost two years since The Originals controversially finished its run. Yet Joseph Morgan, who played Klaus Mikaelson The Vampire Diaries spinoff's six-season run, is feeling a bit nostalgic. With this, he recently showed off The Originals prop that he kept from one of his favorite episodes.

Joseph Morgan recently showed off the gold coin from one of the earlier installments of the show, and he affectionally recalled why the item is so important to him. Fans will undoubtedly recall Morgan’s golden selection and its place in The Originals’ mythos. Showing off the prop, Morgan told EW:

Joseph Morgan loves Klaus’ coin! I remember this episode of The Originals, very well, and that action sequence was pretty jaw-dropping. Morgan recently shared that he is not interested in reprising his role for The Originals’ spinoff (Legacies). But based on his comments here, it's clearly not for lack of fond memories from his days on The CW drama.

Not everyone can leave their time on a TV series with a fake tongue and throat to show for their time there. Jason Momoa cornered the market on that from his time on Game of Thrones. Considering how many people Klaus killed during that stunt scene, I have to believe that Joseph Morgan could have had his pick of grizzly props in the vein of Momoa’s.

Regardless, Joseph Morgan got what he wanted most, and the actor could not have a sharper memory of The Originals’ episode that contained his beloved prop. His dedication to committing such an installment to memory is not all that surprising when you consider that Morgan has stated that Klaus “still lives” on for him.

The same is true for The Vampire Diaries’ universe, which has The Originals’ sequel spinoff to keep the torch burning for it. Legacies centers on Klaus’ daughter, Hope. Last season, it was revealed that the son of Klaus’ sister, Freya, and her wife Keelin, had named their son Nik in honor of Klaus.

It's always interesting to see what kind of props stars take away from their projects, and the best part is seeing how much the items vary from item to item. For instance, Joseph Morgan’s gold coin is a lot more mobile than the couch that John Stamos took from Fuller House.

Intimate scenes may wind up looking good in post-production, but it’s hard to imagine them being anything but awkward when being filmed on set. To make actors more comfortable while filming sex scenes, studios have begun hiring intimacy coordinators to oversee such scenes. Recently, The Originals’ Joseph Morgan revealed how he feels about intimacy coordinators being used for sex scenes.

SAG-AFTRA, the union for screen performers, has put in place guidelines for how to go about simulating sex on screen while creating a safe environment for actors filming intimate scenes. This has been met with vary responses from stars. Scandal’s Kerry Washington is “really grateful” for intimacy coordinators, while Big Little Lies’ Shailene Woodley could do without them. During EW’s Brave Warriors panel for Comic-Con@Home, The Originals alum Joseph Morgan discussed his experience shooting sex scenes and was rather relieved that intimacy coordinators are now a must on set. Here’s what Morgan said:

I agree, the more structure sex scenes have the better. A big part of the reason why intimacy coordinators are being hired and best practices are being put in place is to also prevent any sexual harassment. What’s more, fight scenes are choreographed to not just look good on screen but to ensure that the actors, stunt workers, and others are doing things safely. Naturally, the same should be done with regards to sex scenes.

If sex scenes aren’t enough of a “weird experience,” Joseph Morgan adds that he’s had to do intimate scenes on an outdoor set where several crew members had to remove dead insects off of the glycerin they sprayed on his shirtless torso to make him look sweaty. It’s really amazing that these scenes end up looking so intimate when there are so many awkward or embarrassing stories to go along with them, but I suppose that’s all a part of the magic of television.

Joseph Morgan has moved on from The Originals and is currently starring in Peacock’s Brave New World. While the actor played Klaus for several seasons on The Originals and The Vampire Diaries, Morgan is uninterested in reprising his role for the spinoff series Legacies, especially considering how Klaus’ storyline played out. That said, Morgan had to film plenty of sex scenes playing Klaus, and I wonder if the actor wishes he’d had an intimacy coordinator back then. Maybe.

The Originals wrapped up its run back in 2018, but its “legacy” is continuing. That said, Joseph Morgan is not interested in keeping Klaus’ legacy going by playing him again on The Originals’ spinoff, Legacies. Morgan had reprised his role as Klaus Mikaelson for The Vampire Diaries spinoff, The Originals, which lasted for five seasons before its controversial end.

Neither Klaus nor his brother, Elijah, survived the series finale, much to fans’ chagrin. The spinoff sequel series centered around Klaus and Hayley’s daughter, Hope, is still going strong on The CW, as Legacies is preparing for its third season. While promoting his role in Brave New World, Morgan was asked if he would be interested in playing Klaus on Legacies, and told CinemaBlend’s Laura Hurley:

There you have it. Joseph Morgan does not feel like there is more to do where Klaus is concerned, considering how his story ended on The Originals. As Morgan pointed out, due to Klaus sacrificing himself to save Hope, the only way for him to come back on Legacies would be via flashback or as an apparition, and Morgan has no interest in portraying either option.

As Morgan explained, he gave everything he had to play Klaus on The Originals. Now, he is taking Klaus’ lack of inhibition to his new role, starring on Peacock’s sci-fi drama Brave New World. He is a big believer that the show should be binge-watched.

While many will probably be disappointed that Joseph Morgan has no interest in reprising his role as Klaus for Legacies, he remains close to the franchise. Last year, Morgan shared that despite Klaus’ on-screen death, the character remains alive in his mind. He also took part in The Vampire Diaries’ 10th-anniversary event in fall 2019. A time when events like that could still be held.

Legacies fans hoping to have more crossover activity between it and The Originals will have to stay tuned. On the Joseph Morgan front, it does not sound likely that such a crossover will happen in the form of a Klaus reprisal. But, the same cannot be said for the actor who played Klaus’ adoptive father.

Sebastian Roché has said that he would be willing to play Mikael Mikaelson again for Legacies. The actor added, though, that he was not sure this return would happen. More certain is that Klaus’ legacy is continuing on Legacies. It was revealed on the spinoff that Klaus’ sister, Freya, named her son after her departed brother.

Let the legacy continue! Legacies (not starring Joseph Morgan) and The Originals (starring Joseph Morgan) are both streaming on Netflix along with this year’s new content. Joseph Morgan is on his way back to the small screen, but not to reprise his Originals and Vampire Diaries character for the next season of Legacies. Morgan landed a role on Brave New World, an adaptation of the Aldous Huxley novel of the same name. The nine-episode TV series is the big-ticket original launching Peacock as NBCUniversal's new streaming service, and it will showcase a new side of Morgan. The actor chatted with CinemaBlend about Brave New World, and how the new show differs from The Originals and The Vampire Diaries, including a wealth of time and lack of "inhibition."

When asked how filming a streaming show like Brave New World compared to network shows like The Originals and The Vampire Diaries, Joseph Morgan explained:

Both The Vampire Diaries and The Originals aired on The CW, and both shows never aired a season that ran for fewer than 13 episodes. The shows also released on a weekly basis, so there were deadlines to be met, and not a whole lot of time to complete an episode. Brave New World runs for only nine episodes in its first season, all of which will release for viewers to binge-watch when Peacock launches nationally on July 15.

Joseph Morgan noted that working on a streaming show that would release all episodes at once doesn't mean that every episode was scripted when filming began, but the differences between filming for broadcast vs. streaming meant that was a "wealth of time" for episodes. Of course, Morgan is playing a very different kind of character for Brave New World than he did on The Vampire Diaries and The Originals.

Unlike the vampire Klaus in the Vampire Diaries universe, Joseph Morgan plays a character by the name of CJack60, a member of the Epsilon class in Brave New World's New London. CJack60 normally tackles tedious physicial jobs, but is deeply impacted when he witnesses a horrifying incident. While the shows on The CW could only go so far in showing horrifying incidents and reactions to them, Brave New World on Peacock doesn't have the same limits, as Joseph Morgan said:

Klaus and his family on The Originals weren't exactly saying "Gosh darn!" and "Shoot!" whenever things got intense on Joseph Morgan's previous show, but CJack60 and the other Brave New World characters have the potential to get a lot more "colorful" with their language. While that's not to say that Brave New World will be nine hours of F-bombs, the show can cross lines on Peacock that a CW show couldn't even toe.

As an Epsilon, CJack60 won't have the same kind of social standing on Brave New World as some of the other characters, as is clear in the trailer for the new show. Take a look:

While the characters played by Harry Lloyd, Jessica Brown Findlay, And Alden Ehrenreich all seem to be moving freely throughout New London and wearing a variety of clothing, CJack60 and the other Epsilons are very uniform, contained, and not quite partying it up in New London. That said, Joseph Morgan seemingly did have some stunt work for Brave New World!

Season 2 of Legacies has already seen a character from The Vampire Diaries days return to wreak havoc. Chris Wood’s villainous Kai Parker came back to terrorize the characters after Josie, Lizzie, and Alaric visited the prison world where he was being held. His return launched a two-episode arc that saw his plans thwarted once more. However, Kai Parker’s reappearance left the door open for other characters to potentially return and one The Vampire Diaries and Originals star seems game for a comeback, should Julie Plec be interested.

Sebastian Roché has the distinction of playing bad guys on multiple popular supernatural series. He played the angel Balthazar in several episodes of Supernatural and portrayed The Vampire Diaries’ villainous Mikael Mikaelson, one of the most memorable big bads of the series. Naturally, Roché reprised his role in The Vampire Diaries spinoff The Originals and he has some thoughts about Mikael possibly returning for Legacies. Asked whether he would ever return to play Mikael on Legacies, Sebastian Roché seemed up for it. Here’s what he told TV Guide:

Make it happen, Julie Plec! Who wouldn’t want to see Sebastian Roché return as the first vampire, right? The actor is fantastic at playing villains and, given that Mikael has died and come back from the dead several times over at this point, there’s always a chance for him to return to Mystic Falls with a new and venomous plot.

Personally, I wouldn’t mind seeing him back with stepson Klaus, whom Mikael had a deadly vendetta against. In the same interview, Roché expressed how much he enjoyed sharing scenes with Joseph Morgan and I’d be remiss to say that it wouldn’t be good to see them once more. At the very least, it would be fun to see Mikael interact with Legacies' Hope.

Whether or not he ever returns remains to be seen, but it most definitely won’t be in Season 2. Legacies, like a host of other shows, shut down production in mid-March due. While the cast and crew were unable to finish filming the remaining Season 2 episodes, the series wrapped up at least one of its major arcs involving Dark Josie. Of course, the episode ended on a massive cliffhanger, so there’s no telling how the storyline will wrap up. Unfortunately, fans might have to wait a lot longer than usual to find out.

TV writers have long used standalone episodes to do something a bit more unique and creative to spice up the usual weekly fare. The CW’s Legacies has utilized that creativity rather well in Season 2, with the series offering a bottle episode that was set in the confines of a supernatural video game. In Season 2’s Episode 15, the show will go the film noir route and it’s already looking really good if the preview images are anything to go by. Very soon, Legacies will also pay tribute to The Vampire Diaries and The Originals in a wild way.

Legacies most recently had to contend with the return of the villainous Kai Parker, but the characters will be brushing off their collective stress with a musical episode that is set to pay homage to its TV predecessors. While major plot points remain under wraps, Legacies executive producer Brett Matthews recently teased a bit of what fans can expect from the special episode. Here’s what he told TV Guide:

Brett Matthews doesn’t offer many details about what the musical episode will entail or exactly how it would “revisit” the legacies of The Vampire Diaries and The Originals so anything is game at this point. Matthews keeps it vague enough to pique interest without giving anything away, which is good since we’ll have to wait a while longer before the episode premieres.

Legacies is no stranger to having characters breaking out into song. Back in Season 1’s “We’re Gonna Need a Spotlight,” the Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted hosted a talent show and the students got to sing their hearts out. While there’s no telling if Season 2’s upcoming musical episode will follow in the same vein, it’ll be exciting to see what the writers come up with. It’s a bonus that the show will have a chance to honor The Vampire Diaries universe in a big way.

Personally, musical episodes are always a great way to get creative while also moving the plot forward. It’s also fun to get to see the actors sing and dance, showing off their talents in other ways. The CW, in particular, seems to be a big fan of the genre as a network, with Dynasty having filmed a musical episode in Season 3 and Riverdale covering the musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch in an upcoming Season 4 episode. I’m definitely not complaining.

CBS just took a huge step forward with its Silence of the Lambs TV show. Announced not that long ago, the Eye Network has given a series order to a sequel show that will follow the film’s central protagonist – Clarice Starling. Fast forward a little over a month, and Clarice has cast its main (and title) character in a vet of The Originals.

If you are a fan of the wrapped Vampire Diaries spinoff, you are in luck! A familiar face will anchor CBS’ Silence of the Lambs TV show, appropriately entitled Clarice. TVLine reports that The Originals’ Rebecca Breeds has won the role of Clarice Starling. Jodie Foster played the character in the movie and won an Oscar for her work.

Rebecca Breeds will play Clarice circa 1993. The show picks up one year after the film concludes. Clarice will accordingly follow its title character as she navigates the politics of Washington, D.C., while pursuing “serial murderers and sexual predators.” It sounds like she and Law and Order: SVU’s Olivia Benson could have a heart-to-heart.

Rebecca Breeds is no stranger to hanging out with monsters thanks to The Originals. Albeit, the ones she spent time with on The CW series were of the supernatural variety. On The Originals, Breeds played Aurora de Martel, one of the central character Klaus’ lovers throughout Season 3. Aurora dealt with her share of drama over the season, and now Breeds will get a chance to take on Clarice’s.

What can you expect from Clarice Starling in The Silence of the Lambs TV show? Quite a lot. She is relatively fresh off of the harrowing aftermath of the film. So, expect knowledge of the movie that left you horrified in childhood to come in handy. There is more! Clarice executive producer Alex Kurtzman described the character to TVLine as possessing:

From the sound of things, Clarice should get more into the personal side of its lead character’s life, which could be interesting. There should be quite a bit to sift through, especially following the added emotional repercussions of The Silence of the Lambs case. Of course, those “family secrets” should provide an additional heft to what happened there.

At first consideration, Clarice seems like it could fall into the procedural category. CBS loves its procedurals and for a good reason! It has found ample success with them. Fresh off of saying goodbye to its long-running hit Criminal Minds, Clarice could be the crime show to help fill CBS viewers’ void.

That said, there is a possibility that Clarice could be a procedural that digs deeper than procedurals often do. Buoying that thought is that the show is currently titled Clarice, which is a personalized title that trends away from the more general-sounding NCIS franchise. That's good news for Rebecca Breeds, who may want a chance to further explore her new character’s psyche.

The Originals fans loved seeing Freya Mikaelson again in Legacies Season 2, Episode 6, and based on Riley Voelkel's new tease to CinemaBlend, it sure sounds like we can expect to see Freya back again for more family time with Hope.

Seeing Freya was a taste of home for Hope Mikaelson and fans of The Vampire Diaries' first spinoff. Actress Riley Voelkel only brought back the powerful Mikaelson witch for two scenes on Legacies -- one in New Orleans with Josie Saltzman and one in Mystic Falls to hug her niece Hope. However, we learned quite a bit about Freya's life with Keelin after The Originals finale and fans were left curious to see if Freya would remain a big part of Hope's life.

Will we see Freya again on Legacies? Sounds like there's (no pun intended) hope!

Riley Voelkel is currently promoting her new TV role as Renee Shaw in Starz's Hightown. CinemaBlend's own Nick Venable talked to Voelkel during the TCA 2020 winter press tour and asked if she would bring Freya back to Legacies. Her eyes seemed to say yes as she made this response:

Yesssss. Hope Mikaelson could use more love from back home in New Orleans. Speaking of back home, in Freya's Legacies return episode, "That's Nothing I Had to Remember," Josie Saltzman went to New Orleans to ask Freya about a spell.

At the time, Freya had no memory of Hope, so when Josie mentioned she was from the Salvatore School, Freya didn't remember she had already been there to visit Hope on The Originals. Instead, she said "Yeah, I've heard of it. My wife's got an eye on it for our son."

Our son! The Originals ended with Freya and Keelin planning to start a family, with Vincent agreeing to be their surrogate. Legacies picked up from that story and revealed Freya and Keelin had a son. Not only that, Freya revealed their son's name was Nik -- as in Niklaus, named after Freya's brother Klaus Mikaelson, Hope Mikaelson's own father, who died with his brother Elijah in The Originals series finale.

The second Freya said she had a son named after Klaus -- and mentioned wanting him to go to the Salvatore School someday -- fans started hoping we'd see Nik on Legacies in Season 3, 4, 5, whatever. Maybe there could be a time jump like The Originals had to go from Hope as a baby to a child to a teen?

CinemaBlend mentioned how The Originals fans would love to see Nik on Legacies, perhaps through a time jump. Here's how Riley Voelkel responded:

I don't want to geek out too hard yet, but I'm loving this hope to see Freya back on Legacies and also the idea of keeping Nik involved in the story as part of the next generation. After all, the show is called "Legacies" and it follows the children of characters from The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. Nik belongs there (and so does Stefanie Salvatore).

All The Vampire Diaries And The Originals Characters Who've Been On Legacies So Far

Legacies Season 2 returns from winter break Thursday, January 16 at 9 p.m. on The CW. The show has already been renewed for Season 3 and fans know exactly which other characters they'd love to see back on screen. Meanwhile, Roswell, New Mexico star Riley Voelkel premieres her new show Hightown this spring on Starz.

The Vampire Diaries and The Originals gave birth to Legacies and that little immortal baby is thriving. This week, The CW renewed Legacies for Season 3. The Originals lasted for five seasons and The Vampire Diaries went on for eight seasons, so there's hope this legacy can continue for a long time. Legacies Season 2 isn't even halfway through airing its episodes at this point, but fans already have ideas for what -- and who -- they want to see in Legacies Season 3.

Legacies' winter 2020 premiere, Season 2, Episode 9, airs Thursday, January 16 on The CW. So it's possible a lot of the things fans are pushing for will actually happen in the second half of Season 2. But just in case it wasn't clear, fans replied to Legacies' renewal announcement with some requests for Season 3:

But there are tweets like that to the official account and the Legacies Writers account, filled with photos or GIFs of actress Lulu Antariksa as Penelope Park. Penelope had a tearful goodbye with her beloved Josie Saltzman in Legacies Season 1. Fans were hoping to see Penelope back in Season 2 but as of now she is still off in Europe.

Caroline Forbes is also in Europe, for that matter, and Vampire Diaries fans have been waiting to see actress Candice King return to the role. We've been waiting so long that a lot of fans have (finally?) stopped asking so much about her. We've just gotten used to hearing about Caroline and pretending she's on the other end of the phone when Alaric Saltzman or the twins call her.

But, yes, if Caroline doesn't show up at the Salvatore School herself in Legacies Season 2's second half, it would be great to see her in Season 3. Caroline is the standard Would Love To See character, since she is tied to so many characters from The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. Klaroline fans thought Caroline and Klaus Mikaelson were going to end up together on The Originals, but since his daughter Hope Mikaelson is now an orphan at Caroline's school, it would be good to see Caroline and Hope at least talk about Klaus.

Speaking of Vampire Diaries and The Originals, not all early requests out there for Legacies Season 3 surround past characters, but a few names are popping up.

We know Josie and Lizzie Saltzman's evil Uncle Kai Parker will be wreaking havoc in Legacies Season 2 but we don't know how many episodes he'll be in. We know he'll first appear in Season 2, Episode 12, airing in February, but is that it? Since there is so much meat on those story bones, fans are hoping Chris Wood can come back full-time in Season 3. He is deeply connected to the twins and the Gemini Coven and The Merge. It seems like way too much for one or even two episodes.

I hope Kai doesn't just make a one-off appearance, like Hope Mikaelson's Aunt Freya Mikaelson, who just visited for one episode earlier in Legacies Season 2. It would be great to see Riley Voelkel's Freya again, and fans also mentioned wanting to see other members of Hope's extended family from The Originals -- including Rebekah Mikaelson, Marcel, Vincent, Keelin, and Freya and Keelin's son Nik, who was named after Hope's father Niklaus Mikaelson.

Oh, and what about Jeremy Gilbert, for that matter? Steven R. McQueen returned from The Vampire Diaries for one episode in Legacies Season 1, but it would be great to see Elena's brother again. Zach Roerig played Sheriff Matt Donovan for a couple of episodes in Season 1, and Legacies Season 2 revealed he is now Mayor of Mystic Falls, his dream from the end of Vampire Diaries. Will we see him running the town?

I don't know about Legacies Season 3, but I'm hoping Legacies lasts long enough to do a time jump ala The Originals, showing an older Baby Nik and also Damon Salvatore and Elena Gilbert Salvatore's daughter Stefanie, who has been a source of speculation since her name was dropped in Legacies Season 1. She was named after the late Stefan Salvatore and represents the ultimate legacy.

Maybe the kids can show up in Legacies Season 4 or 5? I'd even go for a time jump at the end of Legacies Season 2 or Season 3, since we also have The Merge to deal with, and that happens when the now 16-year-old twins turn 22. How old would Stefanie Salvatore be at that point? High school age?

Other Legacies Season 3 requests I've seen out there involve wanting Thomas Doherty's new vampire Sebastian as a series regular. Sebastian and Lizzie definitely seem to be getting close. And I'm not sure why Damon Salvatore gave the twins his beloved car from The Vampire Diaries, but I'm pretty sure he did not have THAT in mind for it.

Some Legacies fans just want more screen time for the existing main characters, including Peyton Alex Smith as Rafael Waithe and Quincy Fouse as Milton "MG" Greasley. For all we know, they may have standout episodes and arcs later in Legacies Season 2, it's just a matter of being patient for what's already been or being filmed.

Of course, not everyone agrees on what they want to happen in Legacies Season 2, never mind Season 3. Some fans want Josie and Hope to be more than friends and others are loving the Hope and Landon Kirby love story, etc. There are enough 'ships for everyone, but that means not everyone will be happy with whatever endgames are ahead. Yep, sounds like a Vampire Diaries Universe show all right!

Legacies Season 2 returns Thursday, January 16 at 9 p.m. on The CW. There's still a long wait for Season 3, which will presumably have another October premiere to match the first two seasons. Keep up with everything still premiering in early 2020 with our handy TV schedule.

Last year, The Originals series finale left The Vampire Diaries Universe in mourning for both Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan) and his brother Elijah Mikaelson (Daniel Gillies). Fans did not expect both brothers to die, especially when it seemed like "Klaroline" fans might finally get their wish for Klaus and Caroline Forbes-Salvatore.

That did not happen. And yet, "Always and Forever" wasn't just the name of the first episode of The Originals, it's the Mikaelson family vow. Klaus will always live on for fans, and it turns out he lives for actor Joseph Morgan as well.

Joseph Morgan recently answered fans' Twitter questions, some about his upcoming Peacock show Brave New World -- which has a fun little easter egg connection to Ian Somerhalder's new Netflix show V Wars -- and also some about The Originals.

Here's what he said when a fan asked how hard it was to say goodbye to Klaus Mikaelson, a character he started playing on The Vampire Diaries back in Season 2 before moving to The Originals spinoff:

That simple response, "He still lives in my head," got fans emotional all over again. Many responded with Klaus GIFs and sentiments like "no one ever truly says goodbye to klaus mikaelson" and "He still lives in everybody’s heart."

The Originals' series finale ended with Klaus and Elijah ending their lives, but we did get an update on Klaus' status in the afterlife in Legacies Season 1. The Necromancer -- who just returned in the Legacies Season 2 midseason finale -- told Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell) that Klaus died with love in his heart. He never regretted his choice. He watches over Hope every day, but he won't be able to find true peace until his daughter does.

Now that The Necromancer is back, some fans (OK, me) are wondering if we might get another Klaus update, or even one on Hope's mother Hayley. Did she and Elijah dance in the afterlife?

Speaking of The Necromancer's return, that same Legacies Season 2 episode last week showed Damon Salvatore gave his iconic Vampire Diaries car to Alaric's daughters, Lizzie and Josie. Would he really do that, when Legacies mentioned he has his own children with Elena in Mystic Falls?

Anyway, The Vampire Diaries ended the year before The Originals' finale. TVD's finale saw Stefan Salvatore sacrifice himself, and Legacies has had several references to Stefan, even beyond Stefanie Salvatore. Paul Wesley -- who has his own new show with The Originals' Danielle Campbell (Davina) in CBS All Access' Tell Me A Story Season 2 -- recently said he wanted Vampire Diaries to have an ending that sounds a lot like The Originals finale.

That made me wonder: If Paul Wesley had gotten his way, could Klaus Mikaelson have lived for real? The Vampire Diaries franchise probably wouldn't have done two similar finales back-to-back. Alas...

The Originals star Joseph Morgan will always and forever be known as Klaus Mikaelson, who first appeared on The Vampire Diaries with Ian Somerhalder's Damon Salvatore. Now both Morgan and Somerhalder have new shows. Morgan just wrapped the first season of his new TV show Brave New World. At the same time, he caught up on the start of Somerhalder's new Netflix vampire show V Wars and found a cool little tie to his own upcoming show:

Nice. In V Wars, Ian Somerhalder plays human Dr. Luther Swann in a new vampire origin story. As The Vampire Diaries fans pointed out in the comments, the second episode of TVD Season 2 is also titled "Brave New World," so there are little easter egg connections to Joseph Morgan's new show all over the place.

Joseph Morgan is clearly excited for fans to see Brave New World, the sci-fi dystopian series expected in 2020 on the new streaming service Peacock. The adaptation of Aldous Huxley's classic novel is set in a seemingly utopian society that has achieved peace and stability through the prohibition of monogamy, privacy, money, family, and history itself. Morgan plays CJack60, an Epsilon assigned to tedious physical jobs, who is deeply impacted after witnessing a horrifying incident.

Well, that's intriguing! A couple of months ago, Joseph Morgan tweeted that there had been an exciting development on Brave New World, teasing that fans would see more of him. I wondered if he was teasing an early renewal for Season 2. Maybe his character just got even more to do, or a new storyline twist. We'll see.

While he was answering questions, he also confirmed The Originals' final scene of the show was shot last in Jackson Square "where it all began." He also wrote that Klaus Mikaelson "still lives in my head," despite saying goodbye to the character when he sacrificed himself in the series finale. Of course, that got fans emotional all over again.

It's an exciting time for the Vampire Diaries family. Ian Somerhalder just dropped the 10-episode first season of V Wars -- including one episode he directed -- and fans are crossing their fingers for Netflix to renew the show for Season 2. Meanwhile, Stefan Salvatore actor Paul Wesley just released Tell Me A Story Season 2 on CBS All Access. That season was released on the same day as V Wars.

So as sad as it is to say goodbye to The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, it's great to know the stars are all out there still doing great things. Plus, we have Legacies. I am loving the second TVD spinoff so far, which stars Klaus Mikaelson's daughter Hope Mikaelson, as played by the Emmy-worthy Danielle Rose Russell.

Brave New World was originally meant to premiere on the USA Network but it got moved to Peacock, NBCUniversal's streaming service named after the NBC logo, which will launch in April 2020. There's no exact premiere date yet for Brave New World and also we're waiting to see a trailer. Since the first season just wrapped, all kinds of materials -- first official photos, trailers, etc. -- should be coming out relatively soon.

Yikes, Paul Wesley Wanted The Vampire Diaries To End Like The Originals?

In the meantime, you should catch up on V Wars, which is now on Netflix. As Ian Somerhalder noted, it's more grounded than than typical vampire shows. His new character is very different from Damon Salvatore. Also, he gets to act opposite his real-life wife, Twilight star Nikki Reed. Also, keep watching Legacies Season 2 Thursday nights on The CW to see more Vampire Diaries and Originals characters pop up ... like evil Uncle Kai.

Paul Wesley just shared his preferred ending for The Vampire Diaries' series finale. It's dark, and also somewhat similar to The Originals' controversial ending one year later. But it makes me think: If TVD had for some reason gone with part of Wesley's preferred ending -- killing off both Salvatore brothers -- maybe that would've forced The Originals to go for something different. Maybe instead of killing off two Mikaelson brothers ... Klaus Mikaelson could've lived?

That's the only saving grace I can see in the idea of The Vampire Diaries going Paul Wesley's ending. 'Cause otherwise, ouch.

Paul Wesley is trying to promote Tell Me A Story Season 2, which just premiered on CBS All Access, but while on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, he was asked about The Vampire Diaries. How does he feel about the ending? Here's his response:

Killing off both Stefan Salvatore and Damon Salvatore and also wiping Elena Gilbert's memories? Wiping her memories would be like wiping all eight seasons of The Vampire Diaries. That would probably infuriate fans the most.

Granted, Ian Somerhalder has also talked about wanting to change The Vampire Diaries finale -- he doesn't think Damon and Elena should've ended up together. Somerhalder said he's Team Stelena (largely because Delena fans were "problematic" for his personal life) but he didn't think Stefan should live either. The Salvatore brothers did so much damage over the years. So it seems like both Somerhalder and Paul Wesley think Elena deserved better than the Salvatore vampires.

The Vampire Diaries fans weren't all happy with the finale, in part because Stefan sacrificed himself. Some fans wanted Stefan and Elena together, and others wanted Stefan and Caroline to be together. Others wanted Caroline and Klaus to be together and thought The Vampire Diaries' series finale opened the door for that on The Originals. Nope! The Originals series finale ticked off fans all over the place -- killing off Klaus so Klaroline wouldn't be endgame, and killing off Elijah without showing him find peace with Hayley in the afterlife.

I don't like the idea of killing off both Damon and Stefan Salvatore and wiping Elena's memories, especially since that would've denied us the hope of someday seeing Damon and Elena's kids on Legacies. A show called Legacies, as a spinoff of The Vampire Diaries, should include Elena's kids, no? We've heard of Stefanie Salvatore -- and Ian Somerhalder has heard of her too. Paul Wesley's Vampire Diaries ending would've denied us even the glimmer of hope to meet her someday.

Legacies is staking (heh) its own claim in The Vampire Diaries Universe as a light, fun show with fantastic original characters. However, like The Vampire Diaries' first spinoff, The Originals, Legacies is also bringing in some pre-existing characters to keep the continuity going in the franchise -- and also just to delight longtime fans. Legacies Season 2 is now airing, and we know at least one more major Vampire Diaries star is coming in early 2020. Here are The Originals and Vampire Diaries characters we've seen so far.

Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell) of The Originals 

We have to start with the obvious ones. Hope Mikaelson is the main character of Legacies. She's the daughter of Klaus Mikaelson and Hayley Marshall, who first appeared on The Vampire Diaries and then got their own show in The Originals. The character of Hope was played by several actresses, including babies, then toddlers, then young Summer Fontana in Season 4 before a time jump led to the casting of Danielle Rose Russell as teen Hope in The Originals' final Season 5. Now Hope has her own show, following in her parents' footsteps. And Danielle Rose Russell is doing such a kickass job with this role, I've gone on record as saying she's the first Vampire Diaries Universe star who deserves an Emmy nomination.

Alaric Saltzman (Matt Davis) of The Vampire Diaries

Alaric "Ric" Saltzman has actually been with us from the very beginning. He was a history teacher at Mystic Falls High School when we met him in The Vampire Diaries Season 1. He also guest starred in a few episodes of The Originals before becoming one of the main characters of Legacies. His role as headmaster of the Salvatore School was set up in The Vampire Diaries series finale, showing Ric and Caroline Forbes Salvatore set up this school for supernatural students. Now Ric is holding down the fort for all of the OGs in The Vampire Diaries Universe.

Dorian Williams (Demetrius Bridges) of The Vampire Diaries

Dorian needs more scenes on Legacies, 'cause he is a delight every time he shows up. Dorian first arrived in The Vampire Diaries Season 8, the final season, and was a guest star in The Originals' final season too. He was an occult studies student who worked with Ric and now works as the librarian at the Salvatore School. They were both interested in the same co-worker, Karen David's Emma Tig, in Legacies Season 1. And sometimes Dorian provides romantic advice for students, as he did for Landon in Season 2.

Landon Kirby (Aria Shahghasemi) of The Originals

Landon is now Hope Mikaelson's love interest -- and sometimes Josie's, it's complicated -- but he first showed up in one episode of The Originals Season 5, when the team returned to Mystic Falls. Landon served Hope and Uncle Elijah at the Mystic Grill. He and Hope also had a dance before she had to head back to the Salvatore School. That set the stage for Landon showing up as a mystery supe in Legacies Season 1. We now know he's a Phoenix. By the way, that episode of The Originals also showed The Vampire Diaries' Elena Gilbert is now Dr. Elena Salvatore with her own medical practice. Another reason I'd love to see Nina Dobrev return for Legacies.

Lizzie & Josie Saltzman (now played by Jenny Boyd and Kaylee Bryant) of The Vampire Diaries

Alaric's daughters are main characters of Legacies, but they were born on The Vampire Diaries and appeared in one episode of The Originals' final season. They are now played by actresses Jenny Boyd (Lizzie) and Kalyee Bryant (Josie), but they have been portrayed at different ages over the years. Their biological mother is Jo Laughlin, but when pregnant Jo was killed by her brother Kai Parker on TVD, Caroline gave birth to the twins through some Gemini Coven magic. All of that is heavily involved in Legacies.

Matt Donovan (Zach Roerig) of The Vampire Diaries

Matt is a Vampire Diaries original and he was part of the show for all eight seasons. He also had a guest star role for one episode of The Originals. Matt Donovan returned for two early episodes of Legacies Season 1 as the sheriff of Mystic Falls. The town got a new sheriff in Season 2, and it was revealed in late 2019 that Matt achieved the goal mentioned in The Vampire Diaries finale to become mayor. He is now Mayor Matthew Donovan and in charge of that crazy town. Mayor Donovan has yet to return for Legacies Season 2 as of 2019.

Jeremy Gilbert (Steven R. McQueen) of The Vampire Diaries

Legacies definitely needs more Jeremy. Elena Gilbert's younger brother (if not biologically) is another Vampire Diaries original. In TVD's series finale, Jeremy was shown helping to teach kids at the Salvatore School. He did return in a brief guest appearance in one episode of Legacies Season 1, saving Rafael and Landon from a werewolf hunter in "We're Being Punked, Pedro." Where has he been since? I'd like to know.

Jo Laughlin (Jodi Lyn O'Keefe) of The Vampire Diaries

Jo was one of Alaric's many ill-fated love interests on The Vampire Diaries. Born Josette Parker, her twin brother is Kai Parker, who killed her on her wedding day to Alaric. She was pregnant at the time (see the twins above) and that's how Josie and Lizzie Saltzman are members of the Gemini Coven who have to deal with The Merge. Deceased Jo managed to return in Legacies Season 1's "Mombie Dearest" episode, courtesy of the Necromancer. Before she died again, Jo got to meet her daughters for the first time and established a special bond with her namesake Josie.

Roman Sienna (Jedidiah Goodacre) of The Originals

Roman was first introduced in The Originals Season 5 as a fellow student of Hope's at the Salvatore School. He became Hope's first boyfriend, but it turns out he was involved in the death of Hope's mother Hayley. He felt extremely guilty for his role in what his adoptive mother did. Roman returned for two episodes of Legacies Season 1. He didn't do much, except make Landon suspicious and jealous, but it was made clear that Hope and Roman were never going to get back together.

Freya Mikaelson (Riley Voelkel) of The Originals

Freya first arrived in The Originals Season 2 as the long-lost Mikaelson child, sibling to Finn, Elijah, Klaus, Kol, and Rebekah. She's a powerful witch and she had some bonding time with Hope on The Originals. So it was great to see Hope's Aunt Freya back for Legacies Season 2 in the Nov. 21, 2019 episode where Josie went to see Freya in New Orleans to get information. Ultimately, thanks to Josie's magic, everyone got their memories of Hope back and Aunt Freya had a nice -- if brief -- reunion with Hope in Mystic Falls. It would be great to see Freya back again, but actress Riley Voelkel also has a role right now on The CW's Roswell, New Mexico. But now we know Freya named her baby son after her brother Klaus, so maybe we'll see young Nik on Legacies someday?

Malachai "Kai" Parker (Chris Wood) of The Vampire Diaries

Kai Parker made a big impression on The Vampire Diaries and Ian Somerhalder (Damon Salvatore) said he was the best villain the show ever had. Kai had a recurring role in TVD Season 6 and appeared again in the final season. His name has been invoked all over the place, though, and he's finally going to show up later in Legacies Season 2. According to EW, Chris Wood's Kai will arrive in Legacies Season 2, Episode 12, set to air in February 2020. Kai is the Saltzman twins' evil uncle, and they found an Ascendant at the end of Season 1, not knowing that it could potentially help Kai escape his current Prison World. (They helped put him there as children on TVD, along with Bonnie Bennett, using their Gemini Coven magic.) The twins know they have to face The Merge and I can only imagine Uncle Kai will have all kinds of ideas and advice for them.

Caroline Forbes Salvatore? (Candice King) of The Vampire Diaries

Will we ever see Caroline on Legacies? The eternal question. I'm adding her here because she has been mentioned enough times that she's basically a recurring character on the spinoff. Caroline is a Vampire Diaries original (fun fact: Mckenna Grace played young Caroline in two episodes) and she also guest-starred in The Originals' final season, which somehow failed to give Klaroline a happy ending. Caroline is mother to the Saltzman twins and she is meant to be running the Salvatore School with Alaric, as first shown in the Vampire Diaries finale. But actress Candice King has yet to appear on Legacies herself. So we just see phone conversations where it's understood that Caroline is on the other end of the line in Europe, where she's said to be researching ways the twins can avoid The Merge when they turn 22.

Will Caroline follow Kai as the next Vampire Diaries or The Originals character to appear on Legacies? Maybe. Maybe not. There are plenty of supporting characters who could show up. Some have already been mentioned -- or referenced off-screen, like Vincent of The Originals as the Mikaelson family friend Landon visited in New Orleans in Legacies Season 1.

Do you think we'll ever see Hope's parents, Klaus and Hayley, in visions or flashbacks? What about other Mikaelson family members who could visit Hope? Or will Damon Salvatore ever show up to drink with his buddy Ric at the bar? Will anyone go to Dr. Elena Salvatore's family practice in Mystic Falls? Will Bonnie Bennett ever return to town? Will Damon and Elena's kids -- like daughter Stefanie Salvatore -- ever show up on Legacies?

So much depends on the actors wanting to return so soon after The Vampire Diaries ended in 2017 and The Originals ended in 2018. Maybe if Legacies continues into Season 3 we'll see more former cast members ready to return to their roles. Or not. Legacies can survive without them, it's just great for a show with a title like "Legacies" to keep a strong connection to the past. Legacies Season 2 airs Thursdays (but not Thanksgiving) at 9 p.m. on The CW.

The Originals star Joseph Morgan did say Freya was like the female Klaus Mikaelson. So maybe Freya is now raising a male version of herself? A son who will someday join the Salvatore School on The Vampire Diaries spinoff Legacies and keep the tradition alive? Maybe he can even befriend Stefanie Salvatore, daughter of Damon and Elena of The Vampire Diaries.

Yes, I'm getting ahead of myself. Whatever the case, I was thrilled to read that Freya and Keelin (Christina Moses) named their son after Freya's brother Niklaus "Klaus" Mikaelson.

Yes! That's the word from Riley Voelkel to TV Guide, previewing Freya's arrival on Legacies Season 2 this coming Thursday, November 21 on The CW.

This is what Freelin fans hoped for -- not specifically for a son named after Klaus but not "Klaus." No, just that Freya and Keelin would get their wish of starting a family together. The Originals series finale showed Freya ask Vincent to be a surrogate for her and Keelin. He wasn't feeling it at first, but eventually agreed.

And now here we are one year later, with Legacies Season 2 airing and Freya about to show up on screen. The Originals fans will be thrilled if Freya mentions baby Nik or we even get to see him.

Freya and Klaus didn't have the strongest relationship when they first met in The Originals Season 2. The family didn't even know Freya was alive, and Klaus didn't trust her at first. She's Mikael and Esther's firstborn child and a very powerful witch -- with those powers set to be on full display on Legacies. Hope Mikaelson will need her Aunt Freya's help. They have bonded in the past and I'm hoping that will still be the case even if Freya doesn't remember Hope. Or would Freya be an exception, somehow? She is very powerful.

At any rate, since there's another Nik (last name Mikaelson, or...?) in the world, I'm hoping he shows up at the Salvatore School at some point. Maybe Legacies will have a time jump, like The Originals did to get Hope from a child to a teen in high school. Young Nik wouldn't have to be high school age, though, he could be like Pedro. And please let Pedro befriend him at the Salvatore School.

Side question: Do you think Pedro is around the same age as Stefanie Salvatore? Stefanie was name-dropped in Legacies Season 1, named after Stefan Salvatore. If she was born after The Vampire Diaries finale, she'd be several years younger than the Saltzman twins, who were 4 or 5 at that point.

Vincent is a witch himself, so if he's the surrogate father of Freya and Keelin's baby, would baby Nik be a pure witch or a mix of witch and werewolf with Keelin? Also, if they have a second son, would they name him Elijah in honor of the other brother who sacrificed himself in The Originals finale?

Ever since Legacies premiered, we've seen several Vampire Diaries characters but we've been waiting to see family members for Hope Mikaelson. Her parents Klaus and Hayley are now dead, so I'm not expecting to see them on Legacies unless they do visions or flashbacks or something. Vincent has already been alluded to on Legacies during Season 1, when Landon went to one of Hope's family friends in New Orleans for help. Roman also showed up in Season 1, although I'm still confused why.

Legacies is building itself quite a potential roster for 5-10 years from now -- if the show lasts for eight seasons like The Vampire Diaries or they do some kind of time jump. We have potential future characters in both Nik and Stefanie, plus whoever else shows up. Legacies Season 2 will welcome Aunt Freya Mikaelson Thursday, November 21 at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.

The Originals’ character Freya is going to be “a really powerful force” on Legacies, according to executive producer Brett Matthews, and that is bound to excite fans eagerly anticipating the appearance of Hope’s aunt. Freya will be making her big Legacies debut in the next episode of Season 2.

While it is not for as long as some fans may have hoped, Freya’s first appearance on Legacies is massive for franchise fans. The Originals character marks yet another crossover between the shows of The Vampire Diaries universe. As previously teased, it is not Hope who tracks down her aunt. It is someone else, and after Legacies’ latest episode, it will be fun to learn how that plays out.

With the stage set for Freya’s return to the screen, things are about to get even more exciting! The character has not been seen since The Originals' divisive finale. Asked how Freya’s appearance will add to her legacy in the trilogy of Vampire Diaries saga, Legacies’ executive producer Brett Matthews told EW:

It will be interesting to see how Freya wields that power. Can she help Hope in a way that no one has been able to so far? With her background, she may know something that could come in handy given what Hope is up against. Legacies fans should be pumped to find out how her guest episode plays out. Hopefully, it is a game-changer for her niece.

It sounds like fans can expect all of Freya’s history to be front and center when she makes her Legacies debut. Longtime fans of the franchise will undoubtedly be pleased with this insightful tidbit regarding Freya’s Legacies arc. Freya is an “original.” She is also the sister of Hope’s father, a character whose legacy spanned two series.

While Freya is not brought to Mystic Falls by Hope, optimism for a family reunion remains strong. Remember, Hope is still dealing with that pesky issue of people not remembering her. Will her Aunt Freya be an exception? The Legacies episode you have been waiting for is almost here.

One of the things that Legacies’ executive producer touched on was the show’s willingness to have stars from the universe return. Return appearances keep happening as Legacies’ second season continues. The Saltzman twins’ evil Uncle Kai is also set to return, which the show may have just set up.

Freya and Kai’s returns and Legacies’ continued emphasis on weaving the universe together should keep hope alive for Candice King to return as Caroline. King was an original cast member on The Vampire Diaries, which makes her very much a founding presence. As for Freya, it sounds like it is going to be one powerful episode of Legacies!

New episodes of Legacies air this fall on Tuesdays, at 9 p.m. ET on The CW. You can catch up on Freya’s past by watching The Originals on Netflix, along with newly arriving content.

What is the deal with new guy Sebastian on Legacies Season 2, and is that deal connected to The Vampire Diaries and/or The Originals? Sebastian showed up out of nowhere and charmed Lizzie Saltzman, who also reminds him of someone he used to know. A hint? Also, is Lizzie -- excuse me, Elizabeth -- the only one who can see him?

To vampire MG, Sebastian is invisible, leading some fans to wonder if Lizzie imagined Sebastian or (more likely) if there's some other kind of supernatural magic at work. Is it possible that Sebastian has a connection to The Vampire Diaries, the show that started it all, and/or its first spinoff, The Originals? He's already been compared to TVD's Damon Salvatore. And we know Hope Mikaelson's Aunt Freya is coming to Legacies soon. Will Seb have anything to do with her arrival?

Thomas Doherty plays Sebastian on Legacies and he seems to be having fun teasing out answers. He did say that Sebastian's backstory will be revealed in Episode 5, which is titled "Screw Endgame" and airs November 14. There isn't a new episode on Thursday, October 31 for Halloween, unfortunately, but that means we only have the November 7 episode before getting to the truth about Sebastian.

After Thomas Doherty mentioned his initial interest in Elizabeth is because she reminds him of a past lover, ET asked if there could be another potential doppelgänger in the mix. That's certainly something fans have gotten used to from The Vampire Diaries.

Here's Thomas Doherty's attempt to deflect from that question:

Ugh! He can't really confirm or deny anything, which is why he also played coy when asked directly if Sebastian had any ties to the Salvatores of The Vampire Diaries or Mikaelsons of The Originals -- you know, the founding families of our supernatural world. Here's what Thomas Doherty said about that:

Potentially! Sebastian was already described as something like Ian Somerhalder's Damon Salvatore of The Vampire Diaries. Thomas Doherty agreed both characters have a "kind of brooding, charming, mysterious thing about them."

The actor also said Sebastian will become much more present as the season progresses. It sounds like we're building toward a great reveal:

Nice! Would it be too obvious for Sebastian to be the hooded figure in the Mystic Falls cemetery, connected to Malivore? I still feel like Vardemus is somehow connected to that, and maybe he's dragging Dark Josie into it. Still, we have to remember the timing of Sebastian's sudden appearance, right around when Hope escaped Malivore. Can Hope see Sebastian? I want to see them interact...

Thomas Doherty told EW we're dealing with something new in Sebastian:

I'm open to any and all Sebastian theories at this point, especially if they connect to the larger story being told from Vampire Diaries or The Originals.

Don't forget the Hope Mikaelson's Aunt Freya from The Originals is meant to be coming to Mystic Falls, and we've been told 1) Freya is supposed to show up in Episode 6, right after Sebastian's big reveal episode; and 2) Julie Plec said it's not Hope who goes and brings Freya to Mystic Falls. She said it's someone else and it'll be an interesting dynamic. I had been assuming Landon, but what if it's Sebastian?

I'm also fond of this fan theory connecting Sebastian to the Gemini Coven, which would connect him to The Vampire Diaries, The Merge, Josie and Lizzie Saltzman, their late biological mother, and their crazy Uncle Kai.

No clue if that theory holds water, but I like it. Plus, am I reading too much into things to notice Sebastian's ring? He and Lizzie go on some kind of picnic date in Episode 4, "Since When Do You Speak Japanese?" and the promo photo shows his ring. Is that just a classic daylight ring to protect him from the sun? Is the ring by any chance enchanted in other ways? I may be reaching.

So we know answers on Sebastian are coming in Legacies Season 2, Episode 5 (which is also the '80s decade dance episode). EW said Freya was scheduled for Episode 6. And Julie Plec said the hooded figure mystery would play out around the winter finale before the big midseason break.

We don't have a date on that yet, but it shouldn't be too long after Episode 6 -- since Episode 5 airs November 15, Episode 6 should be November 21, November 28 is Thanksgiving so I'm sure they'll be taking a break, and I imagine Episode 7 will air on December 5. Last year's winter finale was Episode 7, airing December 13. It's possible this year we'll get the winter finale in Episode 8 on December 12, if The CW sticks with that schedule. (Legacies is meant to have a big Christmas episode this year, but it's not actually set on Christmas, which is intriguing.)

At any rate, answers on Sebastian, Freya, and the hooded figure should be coming soon -- so now is the time to air your theories in case you turn out to be right!

Vampire Diaries Fans Noticed Legacies Season 2's Big Stefan Callback

Do you want to see more of The Originals' Joseph Morgan (Klaus Mikaelson)? Trick question! Of course you do. The Vampire Diaries alum just teased fans with the promise they'll get plenty more of him in his upcoming sci-fi series Brave New World. What do you make of this?

Nice. Do you think Joseph Morgan was teasing a larger-than-expected role for his series regular character, CJack60, in Brave New World Season 1 or was he teasing that the series had been renewed for Season 2? Maybe he was getting ahead of a big renewal announcement. We'll see.

Brave New World is based on the dystopian novel by Aldous Huxley, following a "utopian" society of the future that achieves peace and stability through the strict control of every aspect of civilization. Humans are genetically bred and placed into a rigid caste system.

Joseph Morgan plays CJack60, an Epsilon assigned to physical, tedious jobs, who is deeply impacted after witnessing a horrifying incident. (Apparently he has some cool stunt work on the show.)

Brave New World was originally meant to be on the USA Network, but another recent development is that it was moved to NBC's new streaming network Peacock. So that's a potential downside if viewers don't get access to Peacock after it debuts in April 2020. It's not clear if Brave New World (Season 1?) will premiere in April but that's when Peacock is meant to arrive with "over 15,000 hours of content," per Deadline.

Brave New World stars Game of Thrones' Harry Lloyd as Bernard Marx; Solo's Alden Ehrenreich as John the Savage; Downton Abbey's Jessica Brown Findlay as Lenina Crowne; Ant-Man and the Wasp's Hannah John-Kamen as Wilhelmina "Helm" Watson; Pitch's Kylie Bunbury as Frannie; Love Actually's Nina Sosanya as Mustafa Mond; and Demi Moore in the recurring role of Linda, described as the brash, hard-living mother of John the Savage.

So, whatever Joseph Morgan was teasing for Brave New World, we know we'll be seeing plenty of him after the show premieres on Peacock. It's his first series regular role after playing Klaus Mikaelson on The Vampire Diaries and then on The Originals -- which aired its series finale one year ago -- although he recently had a recurring role as Jed on Animal Kingdom.

Meanwhile, Klaus Mikaelson's daughter Hope Mikaelson is struggling in Legacies Season 2, since everyone has forgotten she existed. Klaus's sister Freya Mikaelson of The Originals will hopefully help in some way when she shows up in Mystic Falls pretty soon.

Who is that hooded figure in Legacies Season 2? Is it Lizzie's new crush Sebastian? New headmaster Vardemus, who seems to be inspiring Dark Josie? Someone else? If only we could use a reveal spell. Instead, we'll have to wait several episodes as information is slowly revealed.

We first saw that person under a cloak in the Legacies Season 2 premiere. The hooded figure returned in Episode 2 to stab a jogger (dude, NEVER jog at night in Mystic Falls Cemetery, come on!) and mark his forehead with a Malivore symbol.

The Vampire Diaries Universe ruler Julie Plec has teased some info about the robed figure and when we'll learn more. Here's what she told TVLine last week:

Julie Plec promised EW "a pretty great reveal" is coming over the hooded figure:

There are said to be 20 episodes in Legacies Season 2, but the midseason cliffhanger should be airing in mid-to-late December, whatever episode that ends up.

Julie Plec added this "fun" note on the hooded figure to TV Guide:

A fun and great reveal. Does that suggest we already know the hooded figure, as opposed to it being someone we have not met yet? Also, what do they want? Are they creating new monsters? Working up to a master plan, related to Ryan Clarke's desire to impress Papa Malivore?

Is Vardemus The Hooded Figure?

Professor Vardemus (Alexis Denisof) just showed up and is very pro magic -- and also apparently pro dark stealth magic, since he encouraged Josie Saltzman to start using spells that covered her tracks. I would not be shocked if he was the hooded figure somehow connected to Malivore. He and Alaric Saltzman should be clashing and I wonder if it will be on more grounds than just Salvatore School vs. Mystic Falls High. Maybe Alaric can get his job back by exposing Vardemus as the bad guy?

Is Sebastian The Hooded Figure?

It is rather suspicious that Sebastian just showed up, and also warned Lizzie to be careful. He may have just been warning her away because he's a vampire. Before the season started, we were told Thomas Doherty would be playing a vampire hundreds of years old who has old-fashioned ideas about things. He's a love interest for Lizzie, but we also know MG wanted this to be HIS year of "yes." He was crushed when Lizzie revealed her crush on Sebastian. Maybe Sebastian is involved in something dark and he doesn't last too long, eventually giving MG his chance with Lizzie.

Who Else Could Be The Hooded Figure?

What about MG's mom? Is it crazy to wonder if she could be involved in this somehow? Veronica Greasley is in charge of Triad Industries, which tries to bring supernatural figures into Malivore, but there could be something else going on. Maybe that's a stretch. It's even more of a stretch to think Hope Mikaelson's Aunt Freya could be involved; I don't think that at all, but we do know she'll be coming soon as part of the Everyone Forgot Hope storyline. Maybe the hooded figure is someone else from The Vampire Diaries or The Originals? Doubt it, but I'm open to anything.

Who else? Who else that we've met, or do you have ideas about someone we haven't met yet -- another witch, werewolf, or vampire? What if it's Josie Saltzman under the hood -- and Vardemus is manipulating Dark Josie into doing evil deeds as the hooded figure. Too nuts?

Legacies Season 2 continues Thursdays at 9 p.m. on The CW.

She's baaack! The Vampire Diaries gave us The Originals and they had a baby called Legacies. Legacies Season 2 just started, and it already brought Hope Mikaelson back to the Salvatore School right in the premiere. However, we'll have to wait until Episode 6 to see the return of Hope's Aunt Freya Mikaelson (Riley Voelkel) from The Originals. It sounds like by that point the people of Mystic Falls STILL won't remember Hope, even though she is out of the Malivore pit and certainly remembers them.

We saw Hope almost take a bus back home to New Orleans in the Legacies Season 2 premiere, but it turns out she's not the one who tries to reach out to her Aunt Freya for help. The Vampire Diaries Universe queen Julie Plec gave EW some hints on what brings Freya onto Legacies.

Yes, The Originals fans will recall the bar Rousseau’s in New Orleans. When she says "nobody seems to remember," does that include powerful witch Freya? If so, Freya would certainly be curious about the girl in the photos too. Hope quickly tried to erase her tracks in the Legacies Season 1 finale, but she didn't do anything about removing herself from photos and the lives of her family left behind in New Orleans.

Julie Plec said something similar on the topic to TV Guide, when asked about Aunt Freya's return:

Landon, maybe? Does Landon head back to New Orleans? In Legacies Season 1, he went to New Orleans to get help from a Mikaelson family friend. That family friend was later revealed to be Vincent (Yusuf Gatewood), although we didn't get to see him on screen. Maybe Landon goes back to New Orleans -- would he remember why he went before to talk to Vincent? -- and Freya comes to Mystic Falls to investigate what's going on? The Legacies Season 2 premiere showed phoenix Landon killing himself and having visions of someone he couldn't quite recall, so it would make sense if he keeps pulling at this thread. If not Landon, maybe Alaric Saltzman?

Fans last saw Freya in The Originals series finale, after her brothers Klaus (Joseph Morgan) -- aka Hope's dad -- and Elijah (Daniel Gillies) ended their lives. Freya started a new life with wife Keelin (Christina Moses), with Vincent agreeing to be their surrogate father.

TVLine asked Julie Plec why this was the perfect time to bring Freya back into the story. In part, it's because of Roswell, New Mexico star Riley Voelkel being such a Team CW player:

Whatever Freya recalls about Hope, Hope will remember her aunt. Hope was probably on her way to see Freya in the Legacies Season 2 premiere when that monster troll dude showed up and knocked over the bus from Mystic Falls to New Orleans.

There's a mystery about the hooded figure we saw at the end of the Legacies Season 2 premiere. Julie Plec said we'd get answers around the midseason finale. There are meant to be 20 episodes in Season 2 vs. 16 in Season 1. Season 2 also got an earlier start, premiering October 10 vs October 25 last year. So Freya's episode should air in mid-November, and the midseason finale/winter finale will probably be in early December before the holiday break and a return in early 2020.

So far, Legacies has definitely had more Vampire Diaries characters swing by than The Originals characters. (I'm still not sure about the point of Roman's return last season, but that's fine.) Julie Plec does seem to be trying her darndest to get Vampire Diaries' Chris Wood back as Uncle Kai and Candice King as the Saltzman twins' Mama Caroline. Here are more returning characters Plec would like to see, with a lot of crossover to who I'd like to see too. For now, we can just wait for Freya and enjoy the many new characters haunting Mystic Falls -- including the new Damon in town.

If only The Vampire Diaries' Bonnie Bennett would return to Mystic Falls in time for Legacies Season 2. Caroline Forbes-Salvatore's daughters could use her witchy guidance. Lizzie and Josie Saltzman could use their mother Caroline too, and a sneak peek of the Legacies Season 2 premiere really shows why.

The clip reveals Lizzie is off in Europe visiting Mama Caroline while Josie is back home at the Salvatore School babysitting their midlife-crisis-spiraling dad Alaric. But because this is a supernatural show, the twins can do a cool magic version of FaceTime that shows them fully in the same room. That room is with Josie in the Salvatore School, so -- once again, at least for now-- we don't actually get to see Caroline on screen. However, Lizzie fills Josie in on some things Caroline told her about the Ascendant Josie found in the Legacies Season 1 finale.

Caroline gave Lizzie some Vampire Diaries background on this Ascendant, but she left out some pretty important details:

That's when Lizzie disappeared for a second because Caroline almost busted her. You can watch the clip at EW or just wait for Thursday's premiere episode, "I'll Never Give Up Hope." Why wouldn't Caroline want them talking about it? It bugs me how "cagey" Caroline is being with Josie and Lizzie.

Shouldn't it ring alarm bells with Caroline if Lizzie is asking about an Ascendant? Shouldn't she want Lizzie to have information about how Bonnie used their Gemini Coven magic to help make this Ascendant to imprison their crazy evil Uncle Kai Parker? What if they somehow find a way to access the Ascendant and free Uncle Kai from the 2018 Prison World?

How much do the twins even know/remember about Kai? Without key background on the uncle who killed their biological mother, he could easily manipulate them. I know The Vampire Diaries Universe ruler Julie Plec had been trying to get actor Chris Wood back as Kai, and I'm not sure if that panned out, but it does seem like leaving the twins curious in the dark is a bad idea.

Caroline didn't even tell the twins about The Merge. If you recall, in Legacies Season 1, Hope Mikaelson found out about The Merge from a phone call with her own Aunt Freya from The Originals. We will see Freya in Legacies Season 2, so that's cool. But neither Caroline nor Alaric told the twins about The Merge, wherin Gemini Coven twins basically face off at age 22 and fight until the "stronger" twin absorbs the magic of the "weaker" twin and the weaker twin dies.

During San Diego Comic-Con, Alaric actor Matt Davis played a little game of Maybe/Maybe Not to describe things coming in Legacies Season 2. Here's what he said about Josie and Lizzie and The Merge, with hints to the Ascendant and Uncle Kai:

It's still not clear how much Matt Davis was telling the truth, since it was part of his well-rehearsed Maybe/Maybe Not game. But wow, that would be a lot. He also talked at the time about Alaric losing his headmaster job at the Salvatore School, and the new Legacies Season 2 premiere clip mentioned that fact. It does sound like Alaric might finally have some romance options on the horizon, though.

Speaking of romance, it also sounds like Josie and Landon Kirby might be getting close, since they now live in a world where Hope Mikaelson has been forgotten. But Hope has not forgotten them, and it would "kill" her to see Landon move on with someone else, especially a friend like Josie.

Here's more on what Matt Davis said about what may be ahead for Hope and Alaric early in Legacies Season 2. We have several new characters coming, including a mysterious new Salvatore School professor, a new sheriff in town (what about Matt, is he mayor?), new potential love interests for Hope, and a very interesting new love interest for Lizzie.

As The Vampire Diaries fans probably know by now, The CW show just celebrated its 10th anniversary. The series premiered on September 10, 2009. Ian Somerhalder recognized the anniversary by attending a fan convention the previous weekend, and by talking about the "very difficult" process of getting cast as Damon Salvatore. But he didn't post on social media that day, like so many of his co-stars and TVD producers.

In a post shared September 17, Ian Somerhalder explained that the 9/10 anniversary was too close to 9/11 for him to feel comfortable celebrating; but now that a week has gone by, he has a lot to say about his Vampire Diaries journey:

It's clear Ian Somerhalder still has a lot of love for The Vampire Diaries, his former co-stars, and the fans. (Except maybe the Delena fans, who are "problematic" for his personal life.) He was already famous as Boone from Lost before getting cast on Vampire Diaries, but his lead role of Damon shot him to a whole other level of fame.

Ian Somerhalder's Instagram post also mentioned he "will strive continuously to keep creating great characters, great content" -- and we know he has some content headed our way with V-Wars on Netflix. We're still waiting for word on when that TV series will premiere, and hopefully we'll get a teaser fairly soon, but there's plenty we already know about that show. Somerhalder recently said he's not worried about people thinking he's nuts for doing another vampire TV show after Vampire Diaries because V-Wars is so different.

The Vampire Diaries was a major hit after it premiered, and Ian Somerhalder recently talked about the episode that convinced him the show would be a major success. TVD got its first spinoff in The Originals, and Somerhalder said he and on-screen brother Paul Wesley (Stefan Salvatore) were "so bitter" about The Originals, but for a good reason.

Now The Vampire Diaries and The Originals have their own joint sequel in Legacies, which is going strong into Season 2 this October. Fans are even hoping Legacies Season 2 (or Season 3? Or later?) brings in Damon and Elena Salvatore's children. We've already heard about Stefanie Salvatore, but will we ever get to meet her? Dr. Elena Salvatore has a medical practice in Mystic Falls in the timeline of Legacies, so any references to Elena and Damon their family would be welcome to fans.

Hopefully Legacies Season 2 has more references to The Vampire Diaries, in addition to bringing in more characters from The Originals. We know the Legacies 2019-2020 premiere will at least reference Caroline Forbes Salvatore. That show returns Thursday, October 10 on The CW. We see what you're doing, Legacies Season 2. The Vampire Diaries and The Originals' joint spinoff ended its first season by basically erasing Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell) from everyone else's memories. It was already revealed that Legacies Season 2 would give Landon (Aria Shahghasemi) some kind of new love interest that kills Hope inside, because she still has love for him. Based on The CW's photos for the Season 1 premiere, "I'll Never Give Up Hope," it's at least suggested that Landon's new romance will be with Josie Saltzman (Kaylee Bryant).

Out of all the Legacies characters fans ship Josie with, they're going to try something with Landon? Hopefully there's more to this than meets the eye. Julie Plec did seem to shut the door on bringing Penelope Park back, at least for the start of Legacies Season 2, but that doesn't mean Josie has to move in on her crush Hope's man. Josie seemed more interested in Landon's BFF Rafael (Peyton Alex Smith) in Season 1, but apparently with no memories of Hope she's at least becoming close friends with Landon. (Her gaze at him in the photo above is more than a "just friends" look, no?)

New photos also show Lizzie Saltzman (Jenny Boyd) sitting down with M.G. (Quincy Fouse), which must thrill him since Lizzie is his #1 crush. However, I thought Lizzie was getting a different love interest this season, that crazy new vampire played by Descendants’ Thomas Doherty?

Anyway, let's start with Josie and Landon. The wholesome photo above shows them playing chess, complete with a milkshake for the perfect Straight Out Of The 1950s Look. Season 2 is meant to pick up from the summer break in Mystic Falls, before the new school term starts. Here are Landon and Josie, apparently playing music and writing together in a summer picnic.

Josie and Landon definitely get closer than they ever did in Season 2 in several photos from the Season 2 premiere. However, we also see Josie and Landon sitting down for a serious conversation with her father, Alaric Saltzman (Matthew Davis). Landon has some books in front of him, so did he read up on something and he's sharing major intel with them? Do you think it could be to help Rafael in some way, since Hope's disappearance has screwed poor Raf into being a perma-wolf?

Do you think Landon still has a lingering feeling about Hope, something that he can't quite place? Anyway, a couple of other photos show Lizzie and MG, both dressed up nice, sitting together. Is this a date?

We also see MG with Kaleb (Christopher De'Sean Lee), maybe doing some vampire bonding at night. How are MG's ripper tendencies doing right about now?

And I'm really interested in the Lizzie/Josie photos The CW showed for the premiere. It looks like Josie is holding the therapy prism. If that's the case, if she practicing a conversation with Lizzie?

Does Josie need to have a tough talk with her twin about something? Could be any number of things, if that's the case. Something super serious like the Gemini Coven Merge? Don't forget they found the Ascendant in the Season 1 finale, potentially reintroducing their uncle Kai Parker. Or something less serious like about a boy? Or maybe it's about their mom, Caroline? Apparently Lizzie spent part of the summer break in Europe with Caroline, and Caroline will be referenced in the premiere that way.

It does sound like Legacies Season 2 has a lot of romance to go around. Alaric may lose his job as Salvatore School headmaster (with the school adding a new professor) but he appears to gain a new love interest in the new sheriff in town. (Does that mean Sheriff Matt Donovan is now finally ... Mayor Matt Donovan?) Landon may or may not have something new brewing with Josie, but Hope has at least two new characters swooning over her in Season 2 as well. And that's on top of whatever Bonnie/Damon-style action we get from Clarke and Hope in their Malivore adventures.

There's a lot going on in Legacies Season 2, which may (or may not) also bring back more members of Hope's family from The Originals. The party starts with "'I'll Never Give Up Hope" on Thursday, October 10 at 9 p.m. on The CW.

Hello, brothers! The Vampire Diaries is holding a 10-year reunion event in less than a month. It also happens to be an official convention, including stars of the spinoff The Originals. Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley, Joseph Morgan, and many more are booked for the convention, which will be held September 6-8, 2019 at the Hanover Marriott Hotel in Whippany, New Jersey.

The timing is perfect, since The Vampire Diaries premiered 10 years ago that week on September 10, 2009. The stars will probably have a lot of great stories to tell about what they expected at the time the show started, and how their lives have changed now. It should be a lot of fun!

I do wish everyone was appearing at the same time, especially so The Originals stars like Daniel Gillies and Joseph Morgan could banter with The Vampire Diaries OGs Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder. Somerhalder did recently say he and Wesley were "so bitter" about The Originals becoming its own spinoff since TVD lost so many great actors. And Gillies called out Wesley in an Instagram post about this convention, after having his own mini reunion with Morgan one year after their characters Klaus and Elijah took their own lives in The Originals finale.

That's the other cool thing about this Vampire Diaries convention, and why the timing is perfect. The Originals ended one year ago this August. The Vampire Diaries premiered 10 years ago this September. And the new spinoff Legacies Season 2 premieres this October 2019.

Michael Trevino recently said he would love a Vampire Diaries reunion for the 10th anniversary, and so here we are. This is better, and more realistic, than imagining a Vampire Diaries reboot or bringing many of these stars onto Legacies.

That said, Julie Plec did say Hope Mikaelson's storyline in Legacies Season 2 was shaping up to be perfect for some of her family members from The Originals to show up. Apparently she wanted Freya Mikaelson for something specific, but actress Riley Voelkel had a scheduling conflict with Roswell, New Mexico. Hopefully Aunt Freya can still show up later.

Steven R. McQueen already had a cameo in Legacies Season 1 as Jeremy Gilbert. And Matt Davis is one of the main stars as Alaric Saltzman, making him the only member of The Vampire Diaries Universe so far to star in all three series -- Vampire Diaries, The Originals, and Legacies. Fans are hoping Candice King will add her name to the list as Caroline Forbes Salvatore, but there's no confirmation on that yet. Everyone also wants Chris Wood to pop in for at least a cameo as the Saltzman twins' evil Uncle Kai Parker, especially after the Legacies Season 1 finale left that door wide open.

Paul Wesley made it clear he will not be playing Stefan Salvatore again, and it's understandable why. He did return to Mystic Falls to direct an episode of Legacies Season 1, though. Ian Somerhalder is busy with his upcoming Netflix series V-Wars, and he directed an episode of that. As much as fans would love to see Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev back in Mystic Falls -- considering their characters Damon and Elena are now raising kids there -- it does seem unlikely.

This time last year, The Vampire Diaries and The Originals fans were in mourning for Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan) and Elijah Mikaelson (Daniel Gillies). The Originals series finale aired in August 2018 and left many fans upset, especially since we didn't get to see what happened for them in the afterlife, including any kind of reunion for Elijah and Hayley. Well, Legacies Season 1 did give us an update on Klaus in the afterlife, but actors Joseph Morgan and Daniel Gillies just had their own mini reunion one year after the Mikaelson brothers ended their lives together.

Joseph Morgan and Daniel Gillies started playing the Mikaelson brothers on The Vampire Diaries before The CW gave them the show's first spinoff. That Time A Vampire Diaries Klaus And Caroline Scene Was Almost Ruined By A Horse

Speaking of Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley, Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies, and The Vampire Diaries stars -- they will be gathering for a convention in New Jersey in September 2019 -- exactly 10 years after the premiere of The Vampire Diaries. (This is exactly what Michael Trevino and I were hoping would happen!)

Brilliant. Here's more about that Vampire Diaries/Originals convention. For the moment, let's take a second to remember Klaus and Elijah Mikaelson, who ended their lives this time last year. They made their sacrifices for love, loyalty, and family. Always and forever.

Here's what The Originals' whole cast has been up to in the year since the show ended. They have been keeping busy, and of course Klaus' daughter/Elijah's niece Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell) is now the lead character of her own Originals/TVD spinoff, Legacies, which premieres Season 2 on Thursday, October 10 on The CW. Here's everything we know so far about Legacies Season 2, which is expected/hoped to include more appearances from The Originals cast.

"Hope" is the key word for Legacies Season 2. The Vampire Diaries and The Originals fans hope to see more characters from those shows in The CW spinoff. Legacies fans also hope to see more of supporting characters like Penelope Park, and the rise of favorite relationships. And we all hope that we haven't seen the last of Hope Mikaelson after her Klaus-would-be-proud sacrifice in the Legacies Season 1 finale.

There are a lot of exciting possibilities for where Legacies could take The Vampire Diaries Universe next in 2019-2020. Here's what we know so far about Legacies Season 2.

When Will Legacies Season 2 Premiere?

Legacies Season 2 will be keeping its Thursday nights at 9 p.m. timeslot, right behind Supernatural. In June, The CW announced Legacies Season 2 would premiere on Thursday, October 10, 2019. That means we're getting Legacies a bit earlier than we did last year; Legacies Season 1 premiered October 25, 2018.

What Will Legacies Season 2 Be About?

Legacies Season 1 ended with Hope sacrificing herself to protect Landon (and everyone else). She jumped into the Malivore pit, which saved the day because she is the one and only tribrid, but her heroism came with a price -- it left everyone forgetting she ever existed. The CW issued a synopsis for Legacies Season 2, saying the 2019-2020 season would show us a world without Hope and all the chaos that goes with it. Meanwhile, Hope will be trying to find her way back to the Salvatore School. Season 2 will also "be filled with new monsters and more romantic and emotional surprises than ever."

Legacies creator and The Vampire Diaries Universe ruler Julie Plec told TV Guide Season 2 will show how much impact Hope had in everyone's lives without them even realizing what they're missing. She also said there's hope for remembering Hope and getting her back, and we should expect clues to emerge on that front for our confused characters. Plec also said they planned to make Malivore an ongoing threat, like Voldemort was for Harry Potter, but also continue to have more cool monsters of the week.

When Does Legacies Season 2 Start Filming?

After the Legacies Season 1 finale aired, Julie Plec answered some fan questions on Twitter. At one point, she noted that her team would start writing Legacies Season 2 at the beginning of June and start filming in late July.

Legacies Season 2 production started right on cue in July, with the cast starting filming the Monday after San Diego Comic-Con. There are meant to be 20 episodes in the 2019-2020 season, up from 16 for Season 1.

Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell)

So much of Legacies Season 2 is going to have to follow whatever happened next to Hope after she jumped into Malivore, while balancing that with everyone else at the Salvatore School kinda noticing there's something missing. Danielle Rose Russell said she hoped Season 2 would show more of Hope's darker side, since jumping into Malivore must've damaged her psyche.

Everyone else may have forgotten her, but she should still remember them. That includes her love, Landon, although it sounds like he may move on from her in Season 2, which "kills her." However, it also sounds like we meet two new characters -- siblings who both have crushes on Hope. Hope will of course also remember headmaster/mentor Alaric and -- if Matt Davis can be believed -- they have some adventures in Season 2. The one who needs Hope most of all right now is probably Rafael, who is stuck in perma-wolf mode.

Legacies fans already got a hint of how bad the world would be without Hope in Lizzie's alternate timeline episode. So, we need Hope back. However, Julie Plec noted to TV Guide that, wherever Hope is, evil Clarke is there as well. Plec compared their dynamic to Damon and Bonnie from The Vampire Diaries. If we get Hope back, we probably get Landon's bro back, too. Also, if Hope died and returned, Plec told TVLine she'd presumably come back as a vampire. Would she become a true tribrid with the powers of all three -- a witch, a werewolf, and a vampire? Maybe. But, as Plec asked, if the monsters didn’t die in the pit, did Hope? If not, Hope might just return in the same non-vampire status as before. At some point, though, she has to go full vamp, right?

Alaric Saltzman (Matt Davis)

Alaric is basically running the school solo, except for Dorian, who deserves a raise. Caroline should be running the place with him, but she's off in Europe trying to find a way to help the twins beat The Merge when they reach age 22. (Apparently we will get a Caroline reference in the Season 2 premiere, though.) Guidance counselor Emma also took a sabbatical, for however long that lasts. Alaric admitted in the Legacies Season 1 finale that he didn't make the best choices as headmaster, and he left his fate at the school up to the new honor council. What happens if they decide he should go? Here's what Julie Plec told TV Guide:

Alaric has spent a lot of time with Hope, training her as her mentor and father figure. Hope called Alaric in the Legacies Season 1 finale to say goodbye and have him destroy information about her so everyone would forget her. But "There's Always a Loophole," as the Season 1 finale title noted, and we know that won't be the end of Hope. Alaric is also going to have to be busy watching his twin daughters Josie and Lizzie, since they just discovered the Ascendant they used with Bonnie Bennett on The Vampire Diaries, and that could open a huge can of Kai-flavored worms. Alaric could sure use some backup at the school. Hint, hint, Caroline. Here's more on what might be ahead for Alaric, per Matt Davis.

Landon Kirby (Aria Shahghasemi)

As a phoenix, Landon can die and come back nearly new, which is helpful since he really does seem to need to be saved a lot. He could use some fight training in Legacies Season 2, just saying. He's going to have to be the strong one with best friend Rafael in werewolf mode. With Raf in a tight spot and Hope at least temporarily out of his life, Landon is probably going to be more lost than ever.

I had previously speculated here that Landon might get a new love interest, since Hope isn't around and Landon doesn't even remember that he dated her. Apparently some kind of love triangle like that is ahead for Landon in Season 2 and it breaks Hope's heart. Also, what will Landon remember about his brother Clarke and Malivore lore in general? Anything at all? I wonder how long the lack of memory will last for everyone.

Rafael Waithe (Peyton Alex Smith)

Poor Raf is not in a good place without Hope's unique help on the werewolf front. As Julie Plec put it bluntly to TVLine:

That sounds awful for Raf, but also maybe exciting for actor Peyton Alex Smith to play all those psychological notes. Should be interesting to watch...from a safe distance.

Josie Saltzman (Kaylee Bryant)

Josie almost died from a Malivore mud bullet in the Legacies Season 1 finale, but she was saved by -- who else? -- Hope via Hope's uniquely powerful tribrid blood. Will that blood affect Gemini Coven Siphoner Josie in some way? We'll have to see. At least Josie and Lizzie seemed to bond in the finale, as the threat of Josie dying made the twins put aside their many differences, including the looming threat of who would survive in The Merge.

Because, yes, now they finally know about The Merge. Also, they have a lingering memory of that thing they found in the Legacies Season 1 finale. The Vampire Diaries fans know it's an Ascendant, which could be used with their Gemini Coven magic to release their evil Uncle Kai Parker from his latest Prison World. That would be bad. But, also exciting.

Kai killed the twins' biological mother, aka his twin sister, on her wedding day to Alaric. Kai also tried to kill the twins. It's hard to imagine he wouldn't try again if he returned, but he also might just try to turn them against each other so they do the work for him. There are many possibilities there.

On the Josie romance front, she's one of those characters fans ship across many options. Posie shippers hope Penelope Park returns to reunite with Josie. Hosie shippers saw Josie's chemistry with Hope. And Josie started the season liking Raf. Maybe she won't have any romances in Legacies Season 2, or they could go for the Landon angle and try to bring them together in Hope's absence. We'll see.

Lizzie Saltzman (Jenny Boyd)

Lizzie and Josie Saltzman ended Season 1 on good terms, but the threat of The Merge is still in the air. Per Gemini Coven ritual, the twins would be forced to face each other, with the "stronger" twin absorbing the magic of the "weaker" twin, and the weaker twin dying. Don't forget that Lizzie's amazing wish realm episode included her learning about The Merge, before she got the update in the regular timeline.

With her final wish, she had made it so the Jinni never ended up in Malivore. But that removed the memory of the events from Lizzie's mind, except for a remnant that the Jinni said would linger and slowly make her go crazy. It was suggested that Lizzie could snap and kill Josie, as in the alternate timeline. But Josie did show by the end of Legacies Season 1 that she had a powerful strength of her own, showing Lizzie that maybe she wouldn't be able to defeat Josie in The Merge after all. If their Uncle Kai does come back, I feel like he'd manipulate the heck out of Lizzie by getting inside her already fragile mind and causing all kinds of mischief.

One exciting Lizzie note to add is that she's getting a new love interest in Legacies Season 2. Descendants star Thomas Doherty has been cast as her love interest, a very old vampire with old-fashioned ways. His name is reportedly Sebastian. Sounds like this guy!

Other Legacies Characters In Season 2

In addition to the new love interest for Lizzie, the Salvatore School is also getting a new professor. Buffy and Angel alum Alexis Denisof has been cast as "urbane British sorcerer" Professor Vardemus. We'll first meet him in Legacies Season 2, Episode 2. He was described by TVLine as "a bit of a dandy [who] wins over the Salvatore students with his steadfast belief in the superiority of their supernatural world."

There are many other existing Legacies characters fans hope to see get key storylines in Legacies Season 2. MG (Quincy Fouse) just cut ties with his Triad mom, and he and Kaleb (Chris Lee) re-bonded in the end. Will MG keep in touch with his new gorgon friend? Or will MG maybe get closer to his crush, Lizzie, in Season 2? Will we get an episode focused on true MVP Pedro (Reznor Malaiik Allen)? Will Emma Tig (Karen David) return? And, what about Penelope Park (Lulu Antariksa)? So many fans came to love Josie's "evil ex" turned staunchest defender that it was heartbreaking when Penelope was shown leaving the Salvatore school for Belgium. Will we ever see her again? Here's what Julie Plec told TV Guide:

However, during Comic-Con, Julie Plec had no set plans to introduce Penelope. But maybe that will change. Penelope had used a spell to capture information on what everyone at the school wrote down. That's how Josie first learned about The Merge, and it seems to me that kind of info might be helpful in people remembering Hope.

What Characters From The Vampire Diaries and The Originals Could Return For Legacies Season 2?

Julie Plec said that Hope's Legacies Season 2 storyline includes a link to the family left behind, so she's trying to get some stars from The Originals to return. She didn't know who would return at that point. She did say she wanted to have Hope's Aunt Freya Mikaelson on the show, but actress Riley Voelkel had a schedule conflict with Roswell, New Mexico. Legacies Season 1 established a precedent for bringing back Vampire Diaries and The Originals characters for guest or recurring roles. We have Matt Davis' Alaric, Demetrius Bridges' Dorian, and Danielle Rose Russell's Hope as regular characters continuing from TVD and The Originals. Zach Roerig also showed up as Matt Donovan for two episodes. Steven R. McQueen had a blink-and-you-missed-him return as Jeremy Gilbert.

Will either Sheriff Donovan or Jeremy be back in Legacies Season 2? It would be great to see them. I'm not sure how much to believe from what Alaric actor Matt Davis said at Comic-Con, but he said Alaric might have a romance with the new sheriff in Mystic Falls. If that's the case, what happened to Matt? Also, Jedidiah Goodacre returned as The Originals' Roman, and I kind of thought they'd do more with him than what was in Season 1, so maybe he'll be back too?

As for adding characters in Legacies Season 2, the name on everyone's lips is Caroline. She was referenced all the time in Season 1, as the mother of twins Lizzie and Josie, and co-head of the entire Salvatore School. Caroline is off in Europe, but actress Candice King is the one they really need to sign to get her on board, even if just for a cameo. Hey, if NCIS can get Ziva back, we can get a Caroline cameo, right? Well, we'll see.

Also, Julie Plec knows she put Kai Parker actor Chris Wood on the spot with that Legacies Season 1 finale cliffhanger with the Saltzman twins and the Ascendant. So, will Kai be in Legacies Season 2 or not? Again, we'll have to wait and see.

And what about the Salvatores? The Vampire Diaries' Damon and Elena live in Mystic Falls in the timeline of Legacies, and Lizzie's alternate universe episode mentioned they have kids. We even heard about their daughter, Stefanie, named in honor of Stefan Salvatore. Julie Plec acknowledged the existence of the kids and said one of the things she's thinking about is how Damon and Elena's kids might fit into the world of Legacies. Ian Somerhalder has his own vampire show for Netflix called V-Wars, but Nina Dobrev just saw her CBS sitcom Fam cancelled, so maybe she'd be willing to pop in as Elena Gilbert-Salvatore?

Julie Plec named six characters from The Originals and The Vampire Diaries that she'd love to see on Legacies -- including Caroline and Kai, but also TVD's Bonnie (Katerina Graham), and The Originals' Freya (Riley Voelkel), Vincent (Yusuf Gatewood), and Rebekah (Claire Holt). We'll have to see if any or even all make appearances on Legacies. Paul Wesley (Stefan Salvatore) returned as a director for Legacies Season 1 and it would be great to see him back for more in Season 2, or as one of the monsters of the week. We know he shut the door on playing Stefan again. What about Joseph Morgan as Klaus Mikaelson? Any way we could get him even in a flashback or in vision form for Hope?

Where Can I Watch Legacies Season 1?

Legacies Season 1 had 16 episodes airing on The CW. You can stream the episodes now on The CW app, or rent episodes through Amazon Prime Video, or stream via Vudu. You can also watch all of Legacies Season 1 on Netflix, along with every season of The Vampire Diaries and The Originals.

Interestingly enough, some fans are binge-watching Legacies and then going back to watch The Vampire Diaries and The Originals to catch all of the references from the previous shows. This means it's not just fans starting with The Vampire Diaries, and then going to the first spinoff with The Originals, and then to the joint spinoff Legacies. I love that some fans are starting with the new show and working backwards. It suggests good things for the longevity of The Vampire Diaries Universe if those old shows are still picking up new fans years later.

Will There Be A Legacies Season 3?

It's currently summer 2019, and that's too soon to say if the writers (and network) want the story to continue into Legacies Season 3. The CW renewed Legacies for Season 2 well before Season 1 was finished airing, so, hopefully, that's the case again in 2019-2020 for Season 3. Really, though, I hope the network lets Julie Plec and company know early on what the status is, so Season 2 doesn't leave us on a forever-dangling cliffhanger.

The Vampire Diaries got eight seasons, and The Originals had five seasons. Here's hoping Legacies gets at least three seasons (giving us a better chance of ever seeing some of the TVD and Originals characters above). But a Legacies Season 3 will take viewers showing up to watch Legacies Season 2, so don't miss a Thursday night episode if you want to see the story continue into 2020-2021.

In fairness to the horse that almost ruined a beautiful moment on The Vampire Diaries between Klaus Mikaelson and Caroline Forbes ... this is a show about vampires. Maybe the horse was just getting into character to try to bite Candice King? Or maybe the horse was jealous of the Klaroline love story.

Candice King opened up about the diva horse who was the third wheel of a very memorable scene from The Vampire Diaries Season 3, Episode 14, "Dangerous Liaisons." Yes, the ball episode where Klaus gave Caroline that dress as his date. The scene in question is gorgeous, with Klaus explaining why he fancies Caroline. She's beautiful, she's strong, she's full of light. First, watch the scene again:

Now the background story. During her Directionally Challenged podcast, Candice King revealed she had a bad experience with that particular horse.

Candice King said Caroline was supposed to be petting the horse while Joseph Morgan's Klaus Mikaelson came to talk to her. As you can see in the clip, that didn't quite happen. Here's why:

Yikes. So here's how The Vampire Diaries handled the scene, as she told the story:

Candice King revealed she had another iffy experience with a horse for her recent guest stint on The Orville, playing an alien. She didn't think it helped that she was wearing "elf ears" because she thought she probably freaked out the horse.

I love hearing behind-the-scenes stories like that. By the way, Candice King's guests for that podcast were The Vampire Diaries Universe ruler Julie Plec, The Originals writer and current Roswell, New Mexico producer Carina MacKenzie (who wrote the Klaroline letter used in The Vampire Diaries finale), and also Aria Shahghasem, aka Landon on Legacies.

The Originals alum and Legacies star Danielle Rose Russell -- who plays Klaus Mikaelson's daughter Hope -- recently said Legacies Season 2 would have a love triangle for Hope that leaves her heartbroken over Landon.

Legacies Season 1 had a wonderful callback to that "Dangerous Liaisons" episode by having Hope herself wear the "Klaroline dress" -- given to her by Caroline's daughter Lizzie Saltzman.

Candice King moderated the recent Legacies Season 2 panel at San Diego-Comic Con, but there's still no word yet on King bringing Caroline to Legacies. However, it sounds like she will at least be referenced in the Season 2 premiere, which airs Thursday, October 10 on The CW.

One full year after The Originals ended, it's clear Klaus Mikaelson's daughter Hope could use a little more hope herself. Our beloved tribrid ended Legacies Season 1 by sacrificing herself in the Malivore pit. She's still alive but the rest of the world won't remember her in Legacies Season 2.

Not sure how long that lack of memory will last -- someone has to have a power to fix it, right? -- but it will apparently last long enough for her Salvatore School boyfriend Landon Kirby to find a new love interest. Since Hope hasn't forgotten that she loves Landon, it's going to hurt. A lot.

Actress Danielle Rose Russell teased a love triangle for Hope, Landon, and Someone in Legacies Season 2. Hope tries to be mature about it, but it "kills" her inside, per DRR's words to MEA Worldwide:

Sad. Hope Mikaelson had a beautiful arc through Legacies Season 1, slowly tearing down her walls of anger and sarcasm, and finding both true love with Landon and true friends with her squad. Now all of that is at least temporarily gone. She not only had Landon in love with her, she had his BFF Rafael crushing on her, and Josie Saltzman admitting a Hope crush too.

If Landon does have a new romance in Legacies Season 2, could it be with someone we already know -- like Josie or Lizzie Saltzman? It sounds like Lizzie already has somebody (see below) but who knows. It does make sense that Landon might catch someone else's eye, the way he charmed Hope.

During San Diego Comic-Con, The Vampire Diaries Universe ruler Julie Plec also revealed Legacies Season 2 would introduce a new brother and sister team, and both would have crushes on Hope. She's still popular ... just maybe not with Landon, since he doesn't remember her, and she may be separated from him for a bit. Not sure how that's going to play out yet.

Also during Comic-Con, Danielle Rose Russell suggested to TVLine that Hope's eventual return will be quite dramatic:

When do you think the Hope remembrance will happen -- will we have to wait for the season finale, or maybe before winter break? Whatever the case, it sounds like Legacies is going to juggle multiple romances in the 2019-2020 season. That crazy old-but-young vampire Legacies teased for Season 2 is coming as Lizzie's new love interest, and I honestly can't wait for that.

Also, The Vampire Diaries alum Matt Davis spoiled a lot of potential things ahead for Alaric Saltzman -- and I say potential because he spilled them all through a game of Maybe/Maybe Not. One of the "maybes" was Alaric finding love with the new sheriff of Mystic Falls. (If true, it begs the question, what happened to the old sheriff, TVD's Matt Donovan?)

The Originals' Joseph Morgan Has Cool Stunt Work Ahead On New TV Show

Matt Davis had also said Alaric wouldn't be the Salvatore school's headmaster anymore and would instead go to Mystic Falls High School. The new casting of a Buffy and Angel alum seemed to match with what he said. The new character -- Professor Vardemus -- sounds like he could become the new Salvatore headmaster Davis had described.

Julie Plec had said Hope and Ryan Clarke (Nick Fink) would be stuck together and not liking it, comparing their dynamic to Bonnie and Damon from The Vampire Diaries. That kind of made me wonder if Hope and Clarke might start their own love triangle with Landon. I won't be shocked if some fans leave Legacies Season 2 shipping Hope and Clarke, even more than Hope and Landon or Hope and Josie.

However, Matt Davis' Maybe/Maybe Not spiel included the tantalizing suggestion that Hope would actually get out of the Malivore pit by the end of the Legacies Season 2 premiere. Remember to take this with a grain of salt, but here's what he told press (including CinemaBlend) at Comic-Con:

Guess what? It was one year ago this Thursday -- on August 1, 2018 -- that The Originals ended. For better or worse. We didn't just say goodbye to The Vampire Diaries spinoff, we said goodbye forever, it seems, to brothers Klaus and Elijah Mikaelson. One year later, Klaus Mikaelson star Joseph Morgan has been posting exciting updates about his new show Brave New World, and Elijah actor Daniel Gillies is still showing his love and support.

You probably saw that Joseph Morgan has joined the all-star cast of USA Network's upcoming show Brave New World, in the series regular role of Epsilon CJack60. Morgan recently shared a photo from set, showing himself strapped in for some kind of stunt rehearsal:

Intriguing. Maybe his character will do a bungee jump or be pulled -- something in the air? No clue yet what might be happening, but it looks cool. All we know so far about Joseph Morgan's Brave New World character is that his CJack60 is an Epsilon in this caste system, relegated to physical, tedious jobs. (His arms are looking nice and jacked for physical work.) He's said to be deeply impacted after witnessing a horrifying incident. Could this stunt be related to the incident in question?

Joseph Morgan's The Originals brother for life Daniel Gillies jumped in with this Instagram comment:

Brave New World is adapted from the classic 1932 novel by Aldous Huxley, set in a New London "utopia" where citizens are genetically bred and put into predetermined classes based on intelligence and labor. The cast is led by Game of Thrones' Harry Lloyd, Solo's Alden Ehrenreich, and Downton Abbey's Jessica Brown Findlay, plus Kylie Bunbury, Hannah John-Kamen, Sen Mitsuji, and Nina Sosanya. Demi Moore also has a recurring role, as the brash, hard-living mother of Alden Ehrenreich's character.

Joseph Morgan announced his main cast role in Brave New World last month, saying his first day of shooting was on June 24. Just a couple of weeks ago, he tweeted another update from set:

No clue where he means, but I'm loving these little teases so far. Hopefully he continues throughout filming.

Joseph Morgan recently returned to TV for the first time since The Originals ended. He played the unstable Jed in an episode of Animal Kingdom. Fans are looking forward to seeing a lot more of him in the future.

Keep up with everything The Originals cast has been up to one year after the finale. It's been more than a year since The Vampire Diaries ended, but those stars have been keeping busy in 2019 as well. Nina Dobrev also just announced an exciting new movie.

Ian Somerhalder recently said he and Paul Wesley were "so bitter" about The Originals getting a spinoff because it meant Vampire Diaries lost amazing actors like Joseph Morgan and company. Now Paul Wesley has another season of Tell Me A Story coming up, and Ian Somerhalder is working on V-Wars Season 1.

The Vampire Diaries Universe is continuing with Legacies, a joint spinoff of both The Originals and The Vampire Diaries, starring Klaus Mikaelson's daughter Hope at the Salvatore School in Mystic Falls. Legacies Season 1 gave fans an update on Klaus in the afterlife. Season 2 is meant to also have room for more Originals references and cast members popping in. Legacies Season 2 starts airing October 10 on The CW.

How much can we trust Alaric Saltzman actor Matthew Davis? The Vampire Diaries and The Originals alum just unloaded so much info about Legacies Season 2, it seems ... suspect.

Also, when sitting down with the press (including CinemaBlend) during San Diego Comic-Con, he prefaced his speech by saying he wanted to play a game of "Maybe, Maybe Not." So it wasn't clear how much of what he said about Alaric's storyline -- and what could be ahead for Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell) and the twins -- was real and how much was not-quite-real.

With that in mind, what Matt Davis said about the Gemini Coven Merge and Vampire Diaries' villain Kai Parker (Chris Wood) made enough sense that it could be a legit teaser/spoiler for Legacies Season 2.

Talking about what may or may not be ahead in Legacies Season 2, Matt Davis mentioned a possible dilemma for Alaric over twin daughters Lizzie (Jenny Body) and Josie Saltzman (Kaylee Bryant). It certainly sounds like he's referencing the twins' crazy Uncle Kai in the rundown below:

Stefan save us, that's a lot to take in! Remember, this is part of his clearly well-rehearsed Maybe/Maybe Not game. But the Legacies Season 1 finale already showed Josie and Lizzie finding the Ascendant relic they don't quite fully remember using as children to help Bonnie Bennett trap Kai in his current Prison World. That's where we left Kai in The Vampire Diaries, and that's where he remains unless the twins free him.

So the idea that Kai re-enters the story through a way of saving the twins from The Merge? Believable.

The idea of Alaric sacrificing one of his daughters for the greater good? Less believable, although I could believe it as a Legacies plot point to explore. Talk about a Sophie's Choice. That has always been the threat of The Merge, though, that Gemini Coven twins have to face off at age 22 with the "stronger" twin absorbing the magic of the "weaker" twin who then dies.

Legacies Season 1 eventually explained Caroline Forbes' absence from the Salvatore School she should be co-running with Alaric by saying she was in Europe trying to find ways for the twins to avoid The Merge. Could what Matt Davis described be something Caroline discovered in her research?

Lizzie actress Jenny Boyd said during 2019 Comic-Con that the Legacies Season 2 premiere would mention Lizzie visiting Caroline. Maybe that's when we'll get a Merge update?

It doesn't sound like fans should expect to see Caroline actress Candice King or Kai actor Chris Wood in the first couple of episodes. Also during Comic-Con, producers Julie Plec and Brett Matthews admitted they haven't gotten any past Vampire Diaries or The Originals cast members back yet. They even wrote a scene for one The Originals character and had to change it because of a scheduling conflict.

Julie Plec and Brett Matthews both said Kai Parker would be the first name on their list for Legacies Season 2, since they did seem to set up a storyline for him in the Season 1 finale. Interestingly, though, Matthews added of Kai, "I think that would be a cameo." It seems to me that if they did release Kai he would be back for more than a cameo, so maybe -- if Chris Wood ever decides to come on the show -- they just visit Kai in his Prison World and leave him there?

Matt Davis also had a lot to say about Alaric -- remembering that it's Maybe/Maybe Not -- including that he doesn't get to return as headmaster and instead becomes principal of Mystic Falls High School, with the new Salvatore school headmaster having a very different more open view of supernatural powers. He also said Alaric would finally get a love interest with the new sheriff in town, which led everyone present for his spiel to joke about Sheriff Matt Donovan.

How much of that is true and how much is embellished or more? Hard to say. It's hard to imagine he really just spilled all the beans that he spilled -- there's more about Hope, and Hope and Alaric tracking a monster -- without it being considered too spoilery.

We do know that an ancient teen vampire will be coming in Legacies Season 2, and he will indeed be a new love interest for Lizzie, as I hoped. It was also announced, via TVLine, that we'll meet a new brother-sister duo, and both characters have a crush on Hope. (Sorry, Landon.) Sadly, it sounds like there are no current plans to bring back Penelope Park. (Sorry, Posie shippers.)

But it's early days, and it sounds like the cast was only talking about the scripts for the first two episodes. There will be 20 episodes in Season 2, which is an exciting upgrade.

Are you ready for more Caroline Forbes Salvatore in Legacies Season 2? We have yet to see actress Candice King return to the role she played on The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, but we have heard the character of Caroline mentioned many, many times. That will happen again in the Legacies Season 2 premiere on Thursday, October 10.

The Legacies cast and producers are now at 2019 San Diego Comic-Con teasing Season 2, which is now in (steamy) production with the cast returning for filming this coming week.

Jenny Boyd plays Lizzie Saltzman, one of Caroline's twin daughters with ex Alaric Saltzman. Boyd was asked how Caroline's absence affects the twins in Legacies Season 2. CinemaBlend was in the audience for Boyd's intriguing response:

Another Caroline visit! Legacies Season 1 already mentioned the twins visiting Caroline in Europe. Caroline's absence was originally explained by Alaric saying she was recruiting for the Salvatore School. Later, he said she was really trying to find a way to help the twins avoid the Gemini Coven's Merge ritual when they turn 22.

The twins now know about The Merge, and it would be good to be a fly on the wall of their conversation with their mom. However, it sounds like this particular visit will be similar to the Legacies Season 1 visit where we as viewers hear about it but don't actually see Caroline.

That's disappointing, but we're just talking about the first episode, and the stars haven't even filmed it yet. It's possible Candice King will sign on for several episodes later in the season, and Jenny Boyd was just giving us a taste, with much more ahead.

Jenny Boyd did tease that Caroline "might be a little bit more present this season," so that's a hopeful suggestion. Hint, hint Candice King -- who signed on to moderate the SDCC Legacies panel, which was taken as a big hint that she was going to be part of the 2019-2020 season.

Jenny Boyd also recently told fans to get excited, 'cause the scripts for Legacies Season 2 were already blowing her mind.

What Damon Salvatore Did After The Vampire Diaries, According To Ian Somerhalder

Legacies Season 1 definitely established that Lizzie takes after Caroline in so many ways. They look similar, and have similar personality traits -- at least when it comes to the teen Caroline of The Vampire Diaries. Interestingly enough, Jenny Boyd and Candice King had an interesting real-life meeting right before Boyd got the role of Caroline's teen daughter. (The Saltzman twins were featured in The Vampire Diaries, but as young children, played by other stars.)

Caroline's presence has been deeply felt across Legacies so far, including in the return of her Klaroline dress from The Vampire Diaries.

Speaking of Klaus Mikaelson, Julie Plec did say Hope Mikaelson's Legacies Season 2 storyline was shaping up to leave room for some characters from The Originals to pop in. Might we see more Mikaelsons again? Maybe not Klaus himself, unless Hope ends up seeing the dead in Malivore and we get both Klaus and Hayley, which would be amazing and heartbreaking. There are plenty of living family members for Hope to contact, though.

We are always and forever fans of the British Vampire Diaries alum, and it's exciting to hear that he has two big TV projects coming up -- including one that starts airing next week.

You probably heard about Joseph Morgan's series regular role in Brave New World, which he just started filming and is very excited about. But he already filmed his appearance as Jed on Animal Kingdom Season 4. That episode, "SHTF," airs next Tuesday, July 23 on TNT.

We previously mentioned Joseph Morgan's role in Animal Kingdom's new season, but now we have more details about his role as Colin’s brother, Jed, plus an exclusive photo from TVLine:

Joseph Morgan's Jed looks mighty fine there, but TVLine warned that we shouldn't be deceived by his smile. Jed is described as unstable, and lives off the grid. He's "rejected mainstream society and chooses to live in isolation on a rural compound with his beleaguered wife and three children." Poor family. It's never a good sign when a wife is called "beleaguered."

Jed will appear in the Tuesday, July 23 episode "SHTF," as part of the show's continuing flashbacks to 1977 showing the origin story of Ellen Barkin's Smurf. Jed is brother to Colin, an emotionally damaged Vietnam War veteran who was part of an armed robbery crew with Smurf in 1977.

It's possible older 2019 Jed is who Smurf visits in the episode, with Joseph Morgan playing him in the '70s flashbacks.

Klaus was a villain fans loved to never-quite-hate. Now Klaus' daughter Hope Mikaelson is the lead character of Vampire Diaries' second spinoff, Legacies. Julie Plec had said Hope's Malivore storyline in Legacies Season 2 was shaping up as a natural fit for some characters to return from The Originals. Klaus got some name-drops in Legacies Season 1, and we got an update on his status in the afterlife, but will we get a chance to see Joseph Morgan's Klaus in person?

Joseph Morgan may be too busy with Brave New World, but then again that series could finish filming before Legacies Season 2 finishes taping its 2019-2020 season. We'll see.

This is a big week, Legacies fans. Season 2 is now in production, the stars are ready to start filming again, and the show will be giving fans some great teases this Friday, July 19 at Comic-Con. You heard that The Vampire Diaries and The Originals star Candice King will be moderating the Legacies Season 2 panel, right? Big Caroline Forbes hint there, I should hope.

Jenny Boyd plays Lizzie Saltzman on Legacies, and she already knows Candice King in real life. They haven't played mother and daughter on screen yet, but will that change in Legacies Season 2? Boyd thrilled fans for whatever is ahead with this quick script tease:

I'll take it! Mind-blowing scripts for the win. Of course, that has fans speculating about what she could mean -- specifically for Lizzie Saltzman or in general. Will Legacies Season 2 give Lizzie a Heretic storyline? Lizzie and Josie Saltzman (Kaylee Bryant) are Siphoners in the Gemini Coven, and Vampire Diaries fans remember The Heretics were originally Gemini Coven Siphoners who were exiled as abominations. They were later turned into witch/vampire hybrids. Will Legacies go down that road?

Some fans also asked Jenny Boyd if Lizzie would be getting a love interest on Legacies Season 2. That's not something she could really tweet about right now, but maybe we'll get teases on the romantic front this Friday through Comic-Con. The Vampire Diaries Universe ruler Julie Plec did say the 2019-2020 season would introduce a new -- but very old -- teenage vampire and I immediately pictured him in scenes with Lizzie. I think his chivalry would shock and charm her. Whatever happens there, I'm ready for it.

Legacies Season 2 should have a very interesting start, since Season 1 ended with the shocker of Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell) sacrificing herself in the Malivore pit. We've been told she and Clarke (Nick Fink) will have a dynamic akin to Damon and Bonnie from The Vampire Diaries. But back at the Salvatore school, no one is going to remember Hope. Bringing her back into their lives -- through reminders and then somehow in person -- is going to take however long it takes. ("However long it takes," ahhh Klaroline.)

Julie Plec already said Hope's storyline in Legacies Season 2 might lend itself to bringing in more characters from The Originals. So we could/should/might see more of her Mikaelson family again. There are so many characters they could bring back, but fans also fell in love with the new characters introduced in Legacies Season 1. Will Penelope Park return from Europe? What will happen with Rafael in perma-wolf form? Will Landon no longer need saving, for once? Will he find a new love interest without Hope? How is MG doing with his potential as a Ripper? Will we ever see Emma again?

Also, is Alaric Saltzman going to stay headmaster? That's one of the many reasons why I'd like to see Caroline on Legacies. Alaric needs a break. Also, the twins need someone to stop them from accidentally freeing their Uncle Kai with that Ascendant.

Will we see Sheriff Matt Donovan again? What about Jeremy Gilbert? Can he return for more than just a cameo? Will I ever stop asking questions?

There's a lot to look forward to, and it starts this Friday with the Legacies team at Comic-Con. Legacies Season 2 will premiere Thursday, October 10 on The CW.

Good news! We not only found The Vampire Diaries' and The Originals' actress Candice King, aka Caroline Forbes, we'll see her as part of the Legacies Season 2 family ... at least at San Diego Comic-Con. In a great sign for Legacies Season 2, King announced she will in fact be moderating the Legacies panel at SDCC 2019.

Candice King shared a fun Vampire Diaries panel throwback with her announcement. As you can imagine, just her presence connected with Legacies Season 2 has fans hoping that means she'll finally bring the character of Caroline to The Vampire Diaries Universe spinoff:

Julie Plec, who has written Caroline Forbes into Legacies through nearly every storyline, has been trying to get Candice King to come on the show. Now that Legacies Season 2 has just started production, is this a hint that we will see Candice's Caroline on screen as well as off?

As you know if you've been watching Legacies, there's a Caroline-shaped-hole in the story where she belongs. The Vampire Diaries finale ended with Caroline Forbes-Salvatore and her ex-fiance Alaric Saltzman (Matt Davis) co-running the Salvatore Boarding School for the Young & Gifted.

Alaric is headmaster of the school, and he and Caroline are co-parents to students Lizzie and Josie Saltzman. Legacies Season 2 first explained Caroline's absence by Alaric saying Caroline was off recruiting for the school. Later he admitted she was off trying to find ways to help the Gemini Coven twins avoid The Merge when they turn 22.

The Legacies Season 1 finale showed Josie and Lizzie finding the Ascendant that Bonnie Bennett used to put their evil Uncle Kai in a Prison World. Bonnie used Josie and Lizzie's Gemini Coven magic for that spell, but the twins were very young and only had a vague memory of the relic. It would help if Bonnie's old buddy Caroline were around to tell her daughters to put that thing down and don't even think about it.

Headmaster Alaric ended Legacies Season 1 announcing his failings to the school. He could really use backup in Season 2, and one of his main sidekicks -- Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell) -- is not only gone in the Malivore pit, she is now forgotten in everyone's memory.

So no one can even wonder What Would Hope Do? But we can wonder What WILL Caroline Do if she returns to Mystic Falls?

Candice King has not made an announcement about appearing in Legacies Season 2 at this point. But if you were her, would you just post about moderating a Legacies panel, and then sad trombone the fans by saying "Sorry, I'm not actually going to show up on screen"? What would be the point? So, from here, it's fair to hope for some kind of appearance from Candice/Caroline in Legacies Season 2. I hope it will be more satisfying than what they did with Caroline in The Originals' final season, since Klaroline will always and forever deserve better.

The Legacies Season 2 Comic-Con panel will be held next Friday, July 19. So expect a lot of great news to come out, and possibly a trailer, even though it looks like they just started production and may not have much footage to share. They may reveal some photos or other intel, though, and you never know how fast they may pull stuff together for Comic-Con. Legacies Season 2 premieres Thursday, October 10 at 9 p.m. on The CW.

The Legacies Season 1 finale showed Josie and Lizzie finding the Ascendant that was used to trap their evil Uncle Kai, and if Kai actor Chris Wood is game to return to The Vampire Diaries Universe, we could see him interact with his nieces. Fingers crossed.

Speaking of that door being open, yes, we're wondering if Candice King will bring Caroline to the Salvatore School in Legacies Season 2. Also, will Penelope Park return from Europe? Will we maybe take a class trip, ala Spider-Man: Far From Home, so the Saltzman twins can visit their mom and maybe Josie can reconnect with Penelope? Posie fans would love that, and they are never shy about letting Julie Plec know they want to see actress Lulu Antariksa back on screen with Josie's Kaylee Bryant.

Caroline? Bonnie? 6 Vampire Diaries And The Originals Stars Julie Plec Wants On Legacies Season 2

Now that Legacies Season 2 is starting production, we should be hearing more about cast members returning for filming, and more supporting character returns from The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, or Legacies Season 1. Don't forget that a brand new vampire character is also coming to Season 2, and I already love the potential there. Word on vampire street suggests Season 2 will have 20 episodes, up from Season 1's 16. The CW hasn't confirmed that yet, but it's an exciting thought. The fun begins Thursday, October 10 at 9 p.m. on The CW.

This time last year, we were watching The Originals Season 5 wrap up The Vampire Diaries spinoff's story. We knew by this point that Hayley Marshall (Phoebe Tonkin) was dead, but we didn't know yet that Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Elijah Mikaelson (Daniel Gillies) would sacrifice themselves in the August 1, 2018 finale. Fans had some frustrations with the final season, but they still have a lot of love for the characters and the actors. We're definitely hoping to see more Originals characters show up in Legacies Season 2 in 2019-2020. So what have some of the main cast members been up to in the past year? Let's take a look.

Joseph Morgan as Niklaus "Klaus" Mikaelson

British actor Joseph Morgan, 38, just announced his first new series regular role since The Originals ended. Morgan will be in the star-studded new USA Network series Brave New World, adapted from the Aldous Huxley novel. Morgan plays CJack60, an Epsilon relegated to physical, tedious jobs, who is deeply impacted after witnessing a horrifying incident. Morgan is also credited as playing young Jed in Animal Kingdom Season 4. In the past year, Morgan has been promoting his short film Carousel. He directed the film, which he also co-wrote and co-starred in alongside Persia White.

Joseph Morgan and Persia White got married after meeting on the set of The Vampire Diaries, where he played Klaus and she played the recurring role of Abby Bennett Wilson. Ian Somerhalder (Damon Salvatore) recently revealed that he and fellow Vampire Diaries star Paul Wesley (Stefan Salvatore) were "so bitter" about The Originals becoming a spinoff because it meant losing an "insanely beautiful actor" like Joseph Morgan, along with the rest of the stars and their amazing accents. Klaus has been mentioned more than once on Legacies, and Season 1 even gave fans an update on his status in the afterlife. Klaus died with love in his heart. He never regretted his choice to end his own life. He watches over daughter Hope Mikaelson every day. But he won't be able to find true peace until she does.

Daniel Gillies as Elijah Mikaelson

Daniel Gillies, 43, is said to have the supporting role of Mark in the upcoming romance-drama series Virgin River. It's reportedly expected to premiere on Netflix, starring Alexandra Breckenridge, Martin Henderson, and Annette O'Toole. It's based on the Virgin River novels by Robyn Carr, following Melinda Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge) who tries to start her life fresh by answering an ad to work as a nurse practitioner in the remote California town of Virgin River.

Daniel Gillies recently announced some sad news, posting to fans in mid-June 2019 that he and She’s All That star Rachael Leigh Cook had split up after being married since August 2004. They have two children together -- a daughter Charlotte born in 2013 and a son Theodore born in 2015. So Gillies is embarking on a new chapter in his life, after being married for about 15 years, and we wish him the best of luck. It would be great to see his Elijah on Legacies, somehow, maybe alongside Klaus if Hope has a vision or somehow connects with departed family members via Malivore. It's a supernatural show. They could figure out an angle that works.

Phoebe Tonkin as Hayley Marshall

Australian actress Phoebe Tonkin is turning 30-years-stunning on July 12. She recently starred in the six-part Australian web series Bloom, playing young Gwen to Jacki Weaver as older Gwen. Bloom was released January 1, 2019 on the Aussie streaming network Stan. Tonkin also recently played Olivia Gallagher in the four-part Australian thriller series Safe Harbour. Tonkin also had the the role of Delphine in The Affair Season 4 episode that aired in July 2018.

That Affair episode aired shortly after The Originals fans saw Hayley's death in Season 5. Now fans are hoping to possibly see Hayley again in The Originals and Vampire Diaries spinoff Legacies, if Hope has a vision of her lost mother, possibly in Malivore. There's currently nothing but speculation on that front, but we can hope for Hope's mom!

Charles Michael Davis as Marcellus "Marcel" Gerard

Charles Michael Davis, 34, joined ABC's For The People Season 2 in the series regular role of new Public Defender's office investigator Ted. The show was cancelled after that 2019 season, but Davis still has Younger. He started playing editor Zane in Younger Season 4 and was promoted to series regular for Season 5. Younger Season 6 just premiered in June 2019. Davis also had the recurring role of Blair Williams in Chicago P.D. Season 6, which just finished its 2018-2019 run in May.

Charles Michael Davis is a busy guy, but he's another star we could theoretically see on Legacies, since Marcel did say he'd never abandon Hope. Marcel and Rebekah could visit Hope -- or she could visit them -- assuming Hope survives her Malivore predicament. Or maybe Marcel and Rebekah could help her out of it.

Yusuf Gatewood as Vincent Griffith

Yusuf Gatewood, 36, recently found himself back in the supernatural world on Amazon's great new series Good Omens, based on the novel by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. Gatewood plays Famine, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. The miniseries -- starring David Tennant and Michael Sheen -- just premiered on May 31, 2019.

Yusuf Gatewood is an actor I was hoping we'd see in Legacies Season 1, since Hope said she was sending Landon to see a family friend down in New Orleans. The Vampire Diaries/Originals/Legacies producer Julie Plec confirmed that family friend was Vincent, but we didn't get to see him on screen. The Originals finale showed Vincent agreeing to be the father of Keelin and Freya's child, but otherwise he might be free to help Hope and her friends again if needed.

Riley Voelkel as Freya Mikaelson

Riley Voelkel, 29, has stayed in The CW family with Roswell, New Mexico, which was developed by The Originals writer/producer Carina Adly Mackenzie and also stars Vampire Diaries alum Michael Trevino. Voelkel plays Jenna Cameron, fellow deputy and partner to Nathan Parsons' Max Evans. Roswell has been renewed for Season 2, so fans should be able to see more of Jenna. Voelkel was also announced for a role in the upcoming drama Hightown coming to Starz.

It would also be wonderful to see Auntie Freya on Legacies. Julie Plec mentioned Freya as one of the many past Originals and Vampire Diaries characters she'd like to see on Legacies, along with also name-dropping Vincent, Rebekah, Bonnie, Caroline, and Kai.

Claire Holt as Rebekah Mikaelson

Claire Holt, 31, had a leading role in the rom-com The Divorce Party, which came out around Valentine's Day 2019. She was also in the crime thriller A Violent Separation with Alycia Debnam-Carey, Gerald McRaney, Brenton Thwaites, and Ted Levine. Both titles are available to watch now on Amazon Prime Video. She also reportedly has a lead role in the crime thriller Painted Beauty with Clifton Collins Jr. and Bai Ling, and that's said to be in post-production. Claire Holt was also announced for the film Wolf in the Wild with Frank Grillo, but Variety reported on that back in May 2016 and I'm not sure what's going on now.

In happy news, Claire Holt recently gave birth to her first child with husband Andrew Joblon. Their son, James Holt Joblon, was born in March 2019. So the actress is clearly busy on multiple fronts, but obviously it would still be great to see her Rebekah again on Legacies. The Originals ended with Rebekah wanting to be Marcel's wife and starting a new life with him, but also taking a cure and becoming human. I can see Rebekah visiting Mystic Falls and/or finding a role in Hope's current Malivore situation in Legacies Season 2.

Leah Pipes as Camille O'Connell

Leah Pipes, 30, stayed in the supernatural world with a recurring role in the first season of the Charmed reboot on The CW. She played Fiona Callahan, younger sister of Charity Callahan (Virginia Williams). Pipes is also credited with a role in the short film Heatstroke and also in the 2018 thriller Mommy Group Murder.

Danielle Campbell as Davina Claire

Danielle Campbell, 24, joined Paul Wesley for The Vampire Diaries co-creator Kevin Williamson's new CBS All Access show Tell Me A Story. Paul Wesley's Season 1 character was part of a modern retelling of The Three Little Pigs. Campbell played high school senior Kayla Powell in a version of Little Red Riding Hood. Wesley is returning in a new role for Season 2, but nothing on that front has been announced for Campbell at this point. Campbell also had a role as Hadley in the October 2018 pilot episode of All American on The CW. She also had a supporting role in the comedy film Being Frank, which was just released in June 2019.

Steven Krueger as Josh Rosza

Since playing Josh, Steven Krueger, 30, played Eli in the 2019 "Swipe Right" episode of Good Trouble, a spinoff of The Fosters on Freeform. Krueger also played Andrew Townsley in the 2019 NCIS episode called "Crossing the Line."

Danielle Rose Russell as Hope Mikaelson

Danielle Rose Russell, now 19, took over in the time-jumped role of teen Hope Mikaelson in The Originals Season 5. She is now the lead character of the spinoff Legacies, which saw her Originals boyfriend Roman Sienna (Jedidiah Goodacre) stop by in Season 1. Hope was left in a tight spot in the Legacies Season 1 finale. She could sure use backup from any number of places, including her surviving Originals family, as we wait for her story to continue this October 10, 2019 on the CW.

Candice King as Caroline Forbes

Candice King played the role of alien Solana Kitan -- the newly engaged older sister of the Orville's chief of security Lieutenant Alara Kitan -- in The Orville 2019 episode "Home." She also co-hosts the Directionally Challenged podcast with fellow Vampire Diaries alum Kayla Ewell (Vicki Donovan). So King has been busy with the podcast -- which gave us a recent revelation on Nina Dobrev's true early feelings about TVD co-star Paul Wesley -- and raising her young daughter. We'll have to just wait and see if she finds the time and interest to return to the role of Caroline Forbes-Salvatore on Legacies.

It took until The Originals' final season to get Candice King's Vampire Diaries character Caroline on the show, and even then it wasn't quite what Klaus/Caroline's Klaroline fans were hoping to see. How long will it take to see Caroline on Legacies? She is even more in-demand in this spinoff, since it's set at the Salvatore school Caroline co-runs with Alaric Saltzman. Also, their twins -- Josie and Lizzie -- also attend and live at the school. Candice King is welcome on Legacies Season 2, but we don't know if she'll arrive.

Julie Plec has said there's an open door policy at Legacies when it comes to The Vampire Diaries and The Originals alumni. Legacies Season 1 name-dropped Damon and Elena's kids, so we're hoping to at least hear more about Stefanie Salvatore. We've seen Vampire Diaries characters like Matt Donovan and -- too briefly -- Jeremy Gilbert, but it would be great to occasionally see more old friends from Vampire Diaries and The Originals.

It sounds like there's hope to see more of Hope Mikaelson's family from The Originals in the 2019-2020 season of Legacies, so stay tuned for more on that. And if you're curious what Vampire Diaries stars have been up to, here's more on their 2019 TV projects.

The CW's supernatural drama Legacies may have only been on the air for one season so far, but its core fandom has been around for ten years or so, since the onset of The Vampire Diaries' tight grip on viewers minds and hearts. That same fanbase spent a lot of time during Legacies' first season wondering just how directly these new storylines would interconnect with the rest of the franchise, and creator Julie Plec is now teasing something (or someone) familiar possibly coming to Season 2.

To be sure, Julie Plec has been fielding questions about Vampire Diaries and Originals characters returning to television even when those two dramas' final seasons were still airing, so this is par for the course. However, Plec's most recent answer about Season 2 is more positive than one might have expected. In her words:

The main familiar face that Legacies did boast during Season 1 was Matt Davis as Salvatore School headmaster Alaric Saltzman, father to Lizzie and Josie. His situation wasn't too positive at the end of the finale, considering he put everyone in the school at risk, but it was indeed Hope's sacrificial actions to stop Malivore that open up a pathway for The Originals' core characters to make returns in Legacies. (Spoiler warning for anyone who isn't caught up through the finale.)

By taking a dive into that pit, Hope was seemingly successful in eliminating Malivore's threat for the time being, but she also eliminated herself from the memories of everyone she knows. It's unclear how long she's going to be trapped in the strange dimension when Season 2 kicks off, though we know she’ll have some uncomfortable company that she’ll likely want to rid herself of with the quickness.

However it goes, the fact that Hope will be absent from people’s memories presents some big opportunities for those from her past to return to…well, it depends on who would return, but we know fans would go bonkers for 99% of the possibilities. Could Joseph Morgan’s Klaus or Phoebe Tonkin’s Hayley make appearances to offer up some very specific parental advice for the situation? Or, perhaps a better question, would Klaus and Hayley even remember who Hope is, or what their own histories are with each other?

Legacies Season 2: What We Know So Far

On the flip side, there are lots of Originals characters who could show up to save Hope from her inter dimensional woes before it’s too late, although the same memory-related questions are held for them. Perhaps everyone she knew before now remembers her even more, thus guiding them back to her, meaning Legacies will feature every applicable Originals and Vampire Diaries character that’s still living. Okay, so that’s far more optimistic than realistic, but still. Julie Plec’s words to TV Guide are that exciting.

Speaking of, the topic of Caroline Forbes’ Candice came up, since she’s arguably the character that fans have clamored for the hardest. When it comes to Josie and Lizzie’s mom, here’s what Julie Plec had to say.

Thankfully, there’s still more than enough time for Julie Plec and the rest of the Legacies creative team to figure out ways to bring former Originals (and TVD) stars back into the limelight for Season 2 and beyond. (For instance, she seems really into getting Chris Wood’s memorable villain Kai back in the mix.) Now, all we have to do is get through these long summer months to see it happen.

Legacies will return to The CW for Season 2 this fall starting on Thursday, October 10, at 9:00 p.m. ET. It’ll follow the fifteenth and final season of Supernatural, so let’s also cross our fingers for some kind of an unexpected crossover to happen.

The Vampire Diaries alum Ian Somerhalder (Damon Salvatore) was recently asked to name his favorite "K" villain from the show: Katherine Pierce, Klaus Mikaelson, or Malachai "Kai" Parker. It's a tough question. Take a second to think about how you'd answer.

He picked Kai.

First, Ian Somerhalder talked about being "bitter" over Klaus (Joseph Morgan) getting his own spinoff on The Originals. Then he talked a bit about Katherine (Nina Dobrev) before explaining why Kai (Chris Wood) was the best villain on The Vampire Diaries.

Ian Somerhalder's Damon met Kai in The Vampire Diaries Season 6. Kai, if you recall, was munching on some pork rinds before poisoning Damon:

Chris Wood played Kai on The Vampire Diaries from 2014-2017, and Legacies fans are hoping to see him on that spinoff in 2019 (or 2020). In another Kai clip, Kai explained to Damon and Bonnie how an Ascendant worked, which could be a key reminder for Legacies Season 2:

Kai is currently in another Prison World, stuck there courtesy of Bonnie Bennett, using an Ascendant and Gemini Coven magic from Josie and Lizzie Saltzman when they were just children. The Legacies Season 1 finale showed Josie and Lizzie finding the Ascendant at the Salvatore school and having a vague memory of what it was. That was our sign that the twins may end up accidentally freeing their evil Uncle Kai from his Prison World.

Caroline? Bonnie? 6 Vampire Diaries And The Originals Stars Julie Plec Wants On Legacies Season 2

Kai Parker killed his twin sister -- also the twins' biological mother -- Jo Laughlin on her wedding day to Alaric Saltzman. The twins survived by magic moving them to Caroline Forbes' womb. If Kai gets out of that Prison World, I can totally see him manipulating the twins and also trying to kill them all over again.

Julie Plec added that Legacies Season 1 finale Ascendant scene without getting confirmation from Chris Wood that he would actually reprise his role as Kai in Legacies Season 2. She admitted that was pretty presumptuous of her, and we don't know yet if Wood will be in the new season or not. But Plec has been pushing for Kai to be on the spinoff, and she's not alone.

Josie actress Kaylee Bryant also told CinemaBlend Kai is one of her favorite characters, and she keeps pushing for him to join his nieces on Legacies:

Absolutely. So we have Ian Somerhalder calling Kai the best villain of The Vampire Diaries, Kaylee Bryant asking for him to be on Legacies, and Julie Plec already adding him to the Legacies storyline. Chris Wood, your ears should be burning.

Six years ago, The Vampire Diaries got itself its first spinoff, The Originals, following Joseph Morgan's Klaus Mikaelson and family. You know who wasn't a fan? Vampire Diaries leads Ian Somerhalder (Damon Salvatore) and Paul Wesley (Stefan Salvatore).

The Salvatore brothers had a good reason for being "bitter," as Ian Somerhalder put it during Wizard World Philadelphia 2019. It came from a place of love for the stars TVD lost to the new show.

The topic came up when Ian Somerhalder was asked to name his favorite "K" villain from The Vampire Diaries -- Katherine, Klaus, or Kai? First of all, I love that question. Second, I love how he began his answer:

Yeah, if I lost the chance to work with Joseph Morgan every day I'd be bitter, too. Morgan joined The Vampire Diaries as Klaus Mikaelson in Season 2, and was a main character in Season 3 and Season 4.

However, in October 2013, The CW gave Joseph Morgan's Klaus and family their own spinoff in The Originals. The Originals premiered right after the first episode of The Vampire Diaries Season 5. Stars and characters like Daniel Gillies as Elijah Mikaelson, Claire Holt as Rebekah Mikaelson, and Phoebe Tonkin as Hayley Marshall were suddenly gone from the flagship vampire show.

The Originals went on for five of its own seasons before ending last summer 2019. (It took until the final season to get Candice King's Caroline on there for an unsatisfactory reunion with Klaus. Talk about bitter. Klaroline deserved better!) Right after The Originals ended, Klaus Mikaelson's daughter Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell) got her own spinoff in Legacies, which is basically the love child of The Vampire Diaries and The Originals.

So I'd say this all has a happy ending. And there was enough crossover between the two shows to keep the Mikaelson family alive (so to speak) on The Vampire Diaries. That's still happening now with past characters from Vampire Diaries and The Originals popping up on Legacies.

Caroline? Bonnie? 6 Vampire Diaries And The Originals Stars Julie Plec Wants On Legacies Season 2

Each series has been able to stand on its own two feet, and sometimes fans end up preferring the spinoffs to the show that started it all. When Legacies Season 1 hit Netflix, some fans even said they started there and went back to watch The Vampire Diaries and The Originals to understand all of the many references to the mothership shows.

One year out from The Originals finale, and two years out from The Vampire Diaries' ending, the stars have all moved on. Paul Wesley returned to Mystic Falls to direct an episode of Legacies Season 1, but he has his own new series now. Ian Somerhalder is working on another vampire show, V-Wars, where he is not the vampire. And Joseph Morgan just announced his first major TV role since ending his run as Klaus.

By the way, Ian Somerhalder eventually did answer that fan question from the Wizard World Philadelphia panel. He picked Kai, and I want to talk about that another time because it could/should directly tie into what's ahead in Legacies Season 2, which premieres this October 2019. Joseph Morgan just booked his first series regular role since playing Klaus Mikaelson on The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. Since The Originals just ended not quite one year ago, that's not too shocking. Sounds like maybe he was just waiting for the perfect project, and now he's entering a Brave New World.

You may have heard about USA Network's ambitious adaptation of Aldous Huxley's dystopian novel. Joseph Morgan has joined the all-star cast -- which includes Alden Ehrenreich, Jessica Brown Findlay, Demi Moore, and Harry Lloyd -- and he's excited about the challenge ahead:

Joseph Morgan's Vampire Diaries Universe executive producer Julie Plec replied, "This is so great, congrats!!" The Originals writer/producer Carina Adly MacKenzie -- who wrote the Klaroline letter Klaus sent to Caroline at the end of The Vampire Diaries -- asked this important question:

Haha, yes. The Vampire Diaries and The Originals fans are hoping London-born Joseph Morgan uses his own British accent. Based on the rest of the British cast, that seems likely.

Brave New World, published in 1932, is set in a New London "utopia" where citizens are genetically bred and put into predetermined classes/castes based on intelligence and labor.

According to Deadline, Harry Lloyd (aka Viserys on Game of Thrones) plays Bernard Marx, an Alpha Plus who works as a counselor for The Bureau of Stability, administering Soma to the citizens of New London. Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abbey, Harlots) plays Lenina Crowne, a Beta Plus Hatchery worker, who has begun to question her position within the strict social strata of the New World.

Bernard and Lenina have only ever known a rigid social order, the pharmaceutical Soma, and a culture of instant gratification and ubiquitous sex. Curious to explore life beyond the strictures of their society, they visit the Savage Lands, where they get caught up in a violent rebellion. They're rescued by John the Savage (Alden Ehrenreich, aka young Han Solo), who escapes with them back to New London. The arrival of subversive John threatens to disrupt the stability of New London’s utopian society.

Joseph Morgan plays CJack60, an Epsilon relegated to physical, tedious jobs, who is deeply impacted after witnessing a horrifying incident. Deadline added that Morgan is also appearing in Animal Kingdom Season 4.

Kylie Bunbury (When They See Us, Game Night) plays Frannie, Lenina’s best friend, a Beta Plus who embraces her conditioning and New London’s social order. Hannah John-Kamen (Killjoys, Ant-Man and the Wasp) plays Wilhelmina “Helm” Watson, a hedonistic artist and New London’s premier maker of Feelies. Sen Mitsuji plays Henry Foster, an Alpha Plus in every way, who works alongside Bernard as a counselor at The Bureau of Stability. Nina Sosanya plays Mustafa Mond, a World Controller who is responsible for maintaining New London’s social structure and utopian promise.

According to Variety, Demi Moore will play Linda, the brash, hard-living mother of Alden Ehrenreich’s character, John.

Brave New World apparently moved to USA from Syfy. Interestingly enough, 10 years ago we were talking about A Brave New World adaptation from Ridley Scott, starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

The Originals and Vampire Diaries stars are taking over TV and film in 2019, and I like seeing it. Of course, Klaus Mikaelson's daughter Hope Mikaelson is the lead character of the spinoff Legacies, which continues with Season 2 this October on The CW. Klaus has already been name-dropped several times, but now it looks like Joseph Morgan might be too busy with Brave New World to pop in for a flashback/dream scenario in the 2019-2020 season.

Actress Summer Fontana (Hope Mikaelson) is flying high after The Originals, and Joseph Morgan (Klaus Mikaelson) is clearly proud of his on-screen daughter.

Summer Fontana played young Hope in The Originals Season 4, which aired in 2017. The now 10-year-old star has gone from The Vampire Diaries spinoff to the new X-Men movie Dark Phoenix. This time, she plays young Jean Grey, with older Jean played by Game of Thrones' Sophie Turner.

It's an amazing accomplishment to already play such powerful and amazing women. A Hope and Klaus Mikaelson fan site tweeted congratulations to Summer Fontana, and her Originals father Joseph Morgan shared his own praise. The former Hope star replied to papa Klaus with her own thanks:

Hayley and Klaus would be so proud of their Hope. She's a mature teen now on Legacies, and Season 1 of that show gave us an update on Klaus in the afterlife. He will never find true peace until Hope does. (Peace doesn't seem to be on the way anytime soon for Hope, not after the Legacies Season 1 finale.)

Dark Phoenix hits theaters today, marking the next exciting stage in young Summer Fontana's career.

We met Hope Mikaelson as a baby, then as a toddler, and then Summer Fontana took the role as young Hope in Season 4. Danielle Rose Russell started playing teen Hope starting in The Originals Season 5, and now she's the main character of Legacies.

The Originals only ended last year, actually not quite one year ago. Fans are still heartbroken over the endings for Klaus and Elijah, with Klaroline fans frustrated that Klaus and Caroline didn't end up together. Instead, the Klaroline dress got a shoutout on Legacies, as worn by Hope, and we've had name-drops for both Klaus and Caroline, but no sighting of actors Joseph Morgan or Candice King. Maybe someday Joseph Morgan can show up as a vision for Hope, if Legacies ever decides to go in that direction.

Many stars of The Vampire Diaries have joined or at least cameo-ed on Legacies, and at least one has done the same from The Originals. Since it has been less than a year since The Originals finale, not everyone has moved on to another TV or film project yet. Riley Voelkel (Freya Mikaelson) joined Roswell, New Mexico, which also co-stars The Vampire Diaries' Michael Trevino (Tyler Lockwood). For his part, Joseph Morgan has been promoting his short film Carousel, and he also recently promoted a retrospective of his late father's artwork in London.

When will Caroline be on Legacies? Is Caroline going to be in Legacies Season 2? Where's Caroline? You heard it every week during Legacies Season 1. The Vampire Diaries and The Originals character was very much missed in the first year of The CW spinoff. Now that we know Legacies Season 2 is happening, it's natural for the question to come up again. You know who gets that? Matt Davis. He plays Alaric Saltzman, who is directly tied to Caroline Forbes Salvatore through multiple storylines carrying over from The Vampire Diaries to Legacies.

First of all, Caroline and Alaric share two daughters in Lizzie and Josie Saltzman, who are students at the Salvatore School. Caroline was absent through Legacies Season 1 because she's out there trying to find information that can help the twins avoid The Merge. Second, Ric and Caroline co-run the Salvatore School; Damon gave the Salvatore home to Caroline in The Vampire Diaries finale because he figured that's what her late husband Stefan would've wanted.

Alaric could definitely use Caroline's help running the Salvatore School in Legacies Season 2, especially after the Season 1 finale. He basically put himself on notice as headmaster, and his fate in that job is up-in-the-air as we approach Season 2. Plus, the twins found the Ascendant they used with Bonnie to put their Uncle Kai in a Prison World. And they just found out about what The Merge means for them as members of the Gemini Coven. Caroline's help as a mother and school boss is more vital now than ever.

Soooo ... when are we going to see Caroline on Legacies? Here's what Matthew Davis had to say to that:

Yeah, as Matt Davis noted to TV Guide, this ball is in Candice King's court. For all we know, she has already signed papers to return for Legacies Season 2. Or she may have already made it clear to Julie Plec that she's not interested.

Candice King was a main star of The Vampire Diaries and part of Klaus Mikaelson's storyline in the final season of The Originals, which just ended last year. No one blames her if she wants a break, but maybe fans do kinda sorta blame the show for writing her into this corner. Why are so many storylines connected to Caroline if she's not showing up? Candice King was in an episode of The Orville this past season, and she has been keeping busy with fellow Vampire Diaries alum Kayla Ewell (Vicki Donovan) on their Directionally Challenged podcast. The two are also featured in the new issue of Archive magazine:

Several Legacies stars, and Julie Plec, have noted that the spinoff has an open door policy for The Vampire Diaries and The Originals alumni. Several stars have already taken the show up on that offer, appearing across Legacies Season 1. Paul Wesley (Stefan Salvatore) returned to Mystic Falls to direct. Many have kept in touch after the show, and I'm still hoping that 10-year TVD reunion happens, but not everyone is ready to join Legacies quite yet.
