Jimmy Kimmel’s been taking a break this summer amid the 2026 TV schedule but, amid his absence, a roster of celebrity guest hosts are filling in for him. The first host up at bat was comedian Tiffany Haddish, who hosted during the week of July 6. During her latest stint headlining Live!, Haddish managed to ruffle a few feathers like Kimmel himself, doing so by making a joke about U.S. President Donald Trump. Her comment even sparked a response from the White House, and we’re going to lay this out.

What Did Tiffany Haddish Say About President Trump, And How Did The White House Respond?

Donald Trump made headlines earlier this month when he intervened in Team USA’s involvement in the World Cup. Per reports, President Trump contacted FIFA President Gianni Infantino to ask that he review the red card suspension issued to the team’s star forward, Folarin Balogun. On July 5, Balogun’s suspension was reversed, though the U.S. men’s national team was ultimately dealt a 4-1 loss against Belgium on July 6. During Jimmy Kimmel Live!’s July 7th episode, Haddish poked fun at the Commander in Chief:

At this point, the White House has provided comments on ways in which POTUS and members of his administration have been referenced on TV. For example, the WH spoke out about comments that The View’s hosts made about the president. There have even been unprompted responses from the administration regarding pop culture events, with the White House even reacting to Taylor Swift’s wedding. When it came to the Tiffany Haddish situation, WH spokesperson David Ingle simply said this to USA Today:

Much of social media seemed to take that as shade being thrown at the Masked Singer contestant. But that wasn’t the end of the discussion.

How Did Tiffany Haddish Respond To The White House’s Comment

After Ingle's comment made the rounds, Haddish responded on Live!’s July 8th episode, saying. Needless to say, she didn’t mince words when sharing her thoughts on the perceived slight:

Despite all that, Haddish also said that the notion of being called out by the White House was “exciting” for her. As she put it, it’s “the day that I finally become Jimmy Kimmel.” Of course, Haddish’s comment references the fact that Kimmel has been engaged in more than a few situations involving the president. It was for that reason that Trump responded positively when Kimmel’s show was suspended in 2025 due to comments he made about the death of political activist Charlie Kirk. Earlier this year, Kimmel also drew backlash for saying First Lady Melania Trump looked like “an expectant widow.” Those comments notably came days before the alleged assassination attempt at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, and Kimmel later defended his comment.

Before he went on vacay, Kimmel lined up some other notable guest hosts, including Colman Domingo, Ike Barinholtz, Anthony Anderson and Jelly Roll. Kimmel also notably asked fellow Trump critic Rosie O’Donnell to host later this summer as a “treat” for the president. With that, one has to wonder if O’Donnell (or any other guest host) will follow in Tiffany Haddish’s and Kimmel’s footsteps by making jokes at Trump’s expense.

Tiffany Haddish being unmasked on The Masked Singer was one of the most shocking reveals the show has done in some time, even if her identity wasn't a secret for long. It didn't take long for the panel to sniff out who was under the Le Who Who mask, and the actress told CinemaBlend she would've been a little upset if Rita Ora didn't recognize her.

As The Masked Singer continues its run on the 2026 TV schedule, I had a chance to speak to Haddish about her time on the show. I asked her when she felt Ora clocked her as Le Who Who, and the Girls Trip actress shared that she didn't think it took long for a couple of reasons:

For only having three rehearsals, I think Tiffany Haddish did a pretty good job. That said, it wasn't good enough to make it through to the next stage of the competition, and when it came to guesses, Rita Ora would not be swayed that Le Who Who was anyone other than the Girls Trip 2 star.

Rita was confident in her guess during The Masked Singer, and Haddish told CinemaBlend she had good reason to be. The two are actual friends, and according to the actress, they talk quite often:

Haddish and Rita Ora are close, but thankfully, no throuple rumors have surfaced about them. It's cool because obviously we don't want to assume that all Hollywood celebrities are good friends, so it's always nice to hear about the ones who are.

The Masked Singer Season 14 has given us a lot of quality reveals so far, including Todd and Julie Chrisley months after receiving a pardon from their prison sentence. We've also seen baseball player David "Big Papi" Ortiz, rapper "Tone Loc", and Taraji P. Henson in the latest episodes.

It's shaping up to be one of the most star-studded seasons of The Masked Singer, and there's a strange twist as well for those who haven't checked out the new season yet. This year, the show revealed that Kylie Cantrall is the Cat Witch and is sharing her behind-the-scenes experience as the panel remains completely oblivious to her identity. I'm really enjoying it as a fan who took a break from the series temporarily, and can't wait to see who wins it all this season.

The Masked Singer is rolling along on Fox with new episodes on Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m. ET. I'm loving the season thus far, and can't wait for the rest of the episodes to see what other celebrities are unmasked after such a strong start.

The idea of having roommates has never been more fun thanks to FOX’s comedy series, New Girl. Even though it’s been over and done with for years, it remains one of the most rewatchable TV shows ever. Jamie Lee Curtis

Oscar-winner Jamie Lee Curtis guest starred as the mother of Zooey Deschanel’s Jess Day in the Season 2 episode, “Parents.” Curtis was a great pick to match the quirky spirit of the sitcom’s leading character, and she returned to the series five more times after her initial debut on the series in Season 2.

Taylor Swift

When one thinks of Taylor Swift, sure, “actor” isn’t the first title that comes to mind, but over the years the phenomenon of a singer/songwriter has racked up numerous acting credits in projects like The Lorax, Cats and Amsterdam along. Oh, and what about all those epic Taylor Swift music videos? Anyways, Swift made an appearance in the Season 2 finale of New Girl when Cece is getting married to Shivrang. At the altar, the groom calls off the wedding to say that he wants to marry Swift’s character of Elaine instead.

Prince

One of the most memorable moments in New Girl has to be when the cast is invited to go to a party at Prince’s house… and they actually meet Prince. The Season 3 episode came about thanks to the iconic artist expressing interest in appearing in the show as a fan of the comedy. There’s nothing like that scene when Nick and Jess have a freakout when he appears.

Tiffany Haddish

Girls Trip actress and comedian Tiffany Haddish had a small role in the Season 3 episode “Exes” as a date of Damen Wayans Jr’s Coach. She is part of the plotline of Schmidt deciding to get his own apartment and encouraging Winston and Coach to use the place whenever they like for their hookups. In the scene, all three of them have used it at once and it freaks out Haddish’s character of Leslie.

Rob Reiner

All In The Family’s Rob Reiner returned to the sitcom fold as Jess Day’s dad, Bob, in multiple episodes of New Girl. The beloved actor (and director of classics like The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, Misery, This Is Spinal Tap and Stand By Me) was in eleven total episodes of the series, appearing in almost every season of the show.

Lisa Bonet

The Cosby Show’s Lisa Bonet guest starred in the Season 4 episode “Teachers” as an education guru named Brenda Brown. Jess and Coach meet the character while attending together. She calls Coach out for his attitude during the presentation that causes him to stop being Jess’s “buffer” while she tries to ignore her feelings for a British teacher she’s crushing on at her school.

Kaitlin Olson

It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia’s Kaitlin Olson (who is back for Season 17 of the comedy) guest starred in New Girl for two episodes in Season 4. She plays Bob Day’s much younger fiancée, who happened to be the high school rival of Jess and Cece back in the day.

Josh Gad

The Book of Mormon and Frozen’s beloved snowman voice actor Josh Gad guest starred in three separate episodes of New Girl (in Season 2, 3 and 4) as a delivery man named Bearclaw who falls head over heels with Jess. He first appears in the episode “Katie” as a blind date gone wrong before also being in “Birthday” and “Walk of Shame.”

Dermot Mulroney

My Best Friend’s Wedding actor Dermot Mulroney is “Fancyman” in New Girl. The actor appeared as a guest star in eight episodes of the show throughout its run after becoming a favorite in Season 1. In the two part episode “Fancyman,” he is introduced as the wealthy father of one of Jess’s students who she strikes up a romance with.

Olivia Rodrigo

Yes, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series actress turned massive pop star Olivia Rodrigo was on New Girl, but it was before reaching mega-stardom. In the Season 6 episode “Young Adult,” Rodrigo plays one of the students in Jess’s school who becomes a huge fan of Nick Miller’s novel The Pepperwood Chronicles. In an effort for her students (including Rodrigo’s character of Terrinea) to like her better, Jess sets up a meeting between a few of the students and Nick.

Megan Fox

In Season 5 of New Girl, Zooey Deschanel was pregnant in real life and since that was not in the cards yet for Jess Day, the decision was made to have her character leave for a while on Jury Duty while Deschanel went on maternity leave. The creators decided to bring in Megan Fox’s Reagan to take Jess’s place and she ended up being part of 15 episodes of the series. Fox is of course also known for being in the Transformers movies, Jennifer’s Body and the live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.

Alan Ritchson

Before Alan Ritchson starred in one of the best Amazon Prime shows, Reacher, the actor had a memorable guest spot on New Girl in the episode “Micro”. In the Season 4 episode, Ritchson used his comedic chops as a guy Jess is seeing who she struggles with getting past the fact that Ritchson’s Matt has a micro penis.

Henry Winkler

Happy Days and Barry actor Henry Winkler appeared in New Girl (alongside the incredible Julie Hagerty and Taran Killam) in the Season 5 episode “What About Fred.” In the episode, Jess is dating a guy named Fred (Killam), who she finds very boring, but falls for spending time with his charismatic parents Winkler and Hagerty’s Flip and Nancy.

Parker Posey

Parker Posey, aka the “Queen of the Indies,” especially during the best movies of the 1990s, had a great guest appearance in New Girl during the Season 2 episode “Re-Launch.” Schmidt is having a re-branding party for himself and Posey plays a dishevelled shot girl who was not as advertised.

John Cho

Star Trek’s John Cho appeared on New Girl for the Season 5 episode “Jury Duty.” Jess tries to get out of getting on a case for a chance to be acting principal. She asks her friends to help, but fails miserably in front of Cho’s character, who ends up being the man questioning her for the case after they initially have a flirty meet-cute.

Adam Brody

The OC and Nobody Wants This’s Adam Brody was one of Jess’s ex-boyfriend’s, Berkley, in the Season 3 episode, “Exes.” In the episode, Jess tries to prove to Nick that exes can still be friends by introducing him to Berkley, but she’s proved wrong when she finds out his true intentions.

Quinta Brunson

Before Quinta Brunson was the Emmy-winning creator and star of the hit ABC comedy, Abbott Elementary, she had a brief role in New Girl, in the Season 7 episode “Mario.” When Nick is trying to propose to Jess, she unexpectedly adopts a dog, throwing off his plans. Brunson plays a restaurant host that Nick speaks to on the phone as the plans shift.

Stephen Amell

Arrow star Stephen Amell, who played the Green Arrow for eight seasons on The CW, was on New Girl for a couple of episodes in Season 1. He played Cece’s jerk boyfriend Kyle in “The 23rd” and “Valentine’s Day.” Cece ends things with Kyle in the latter episode after realizing she has feelings for Schmidt.

Jessica Biel

7th Heaven and The Sinner actress Jessica Biel stopped by New Girl for the Season 4 premiere “The Last Wedding.” When the gang goes to yet another wedding, Biel plays a single woman who ends up competing with Jess to earn the affection of its best man (played by Reid Scott).

Justin Long

Justin Long had a memorable guest star arc on the first season of New Girl. He plays Paul Genzlinger, a music teacher co-worker of Jess’s whom she starts dating in time for the show’s first Thanksgiving episode. Paul is often thought of as a male version of Jess. After the couple date for about a month and breakup, Long made a re-appearance in Season 4’s “Walk Of Shame.”

Linda Cardellini

New Girl fans got to meet Jess’s sister, Abby Day, in Season 3 through Linda Cardellini’s three-episode arc. The Dead To Me actress plays Jess’s troublemaker older sibling, who is just about completely opposite to the sitcom’s leading actress. Jess is constantly embarrassed by Abby’s behavior when she comes to stay in the loft after Jess saves her from prison.

Alexandra Daddario

Baywatch and The White Lotus’ Alexandra Daddario played one of the neighbors to the New Girl gang in two episodes of the series. Daddario’s Michelle is deemed as one of the “hot” new neighbors that Schmidt, Winston, Coach scramble to impress after their first meeting left something to be desired. Daddario appears in Season 3’s “Mars Landing” and Season 4’s “Goldmine.”

Andy Samberg

For quite a few years, New Girl and Brooklyn Nine-Nine were both big comedies airing on FOX at the same time. So in Season 6, the networks decided to crossover the comedies with a special New York episode for New Girl. While the friends are in the Big Apple, Jess gets some help from Andy Samberg’s Jake Peralta and the other cast. (The cast of New Girl was also on an episode of B99 called “The Night Shift” that aired the same week in 2016).

Peter Gallagher

The OC’s Peter Gallagher was in multiple episodes of New Girl as Schmidt’s father, Gavin. The vineyard owner first appears in the Season 5 episode “D-Day” when Jess is assisting Schmidt with wedding preparations. Gallagher, who has also been in famous movies like American Beauty and While You Were Sleeping, was a great fit to play Schmidt’s absentee dad.

Randall Park

Before Randall Park became the star of Fresh Off The Boat, Always Be My Maybe and WandaVision, he was briefly in a Season 1 episode of New Girl as an employee at a phone company (with frosted tips), who makes fun of Nick for his crazy low credit score.

Natasha Lyonne

Natasha Lyonne is a famous TV actress for her roles in Orange is the New Black, Russian Doll and Poker Face. Prior to those roles, she had a small role in New Girl’s third episode ever, “Wedding.” She played Gretchen Nelson, an acquaintance of Schmidt, who he ends up sleeping with at every wedding they both attend even though he claims he cannot stand her.

Dylan O'Brien

Teen Wolf star Dylan O’Brien plays the guy Jess Day lost her virginity to on the night of her prom back when she was in high school. In the episode “Virgins” from Season 2, Jess runs into him many years after their first meeting, but what could have been a sexual fantasy turns into an embarrassing moment for the two of them.

Brenda Song

The Suite Life Of Zack And Cody actress Brenda Song was in a few episodes in Season 2 (and one in Season 3) as Daisy, a love interest for Winston. It’s a short-lived romance for Winston, but Song is a guest star in what we consider to be No. 1 of the best New Girl episodes, “Cooler.”

Joey King

Before Joey King was the star of Netflix’s The Kissing Booth movies or the numerous 2024 movies she’s been in like A Family Affair, Uglies and Despicable Me 4, she was a popular child actor who was in Ramona & Beezus with Selena Gomez or the Taylor Swift music video “Mean.” She was also in a Season 1 episode of New Girl called “Bully” as one of Jess’s students.

Carla Gugino

Carla Gugino, known for the Spy Kids movies and being in multiple Mike Flanagan horror projects was in three 2012 episodes of New Girl as Schmidt’s new boss, Emma. In the first episode Gugino stars in “Menzies,” Schmidt gets into a sexual contract with her that doesn’t go as planned.

Nick Kroll

The very funny Nick Kroll is known for starring in The League, along with creating the Kroll Show and Netflix’s Big Mouth. In Season 2’s “Chicago,” where the gang goes to Nick’s hometown for his father’s funeral, Kroll plays one of Nick Miller’s brothers, alongside Bill Burr! You can tell Kroll and Burr had tons of fun with the Chicago accent bringing some levity to a rather emotional New Girl episode.

Fred Armisen

Saturday Night Live favorite (who was behind some of SNL's funniest recurring characters) and Portlandia lead Fred Armisen had a brief role in New Girl for the season five episode “No Girl.” While Jess is at jury duty, the gang rent out her room to random people, and Armisen plays a guy named Brandon. His short time there made a huge impression because of how funny he is with the guys. Remember when he read Schmidt his romance writing or dressed up like Jess at one point?

Movies about friendship can be the warmest, funniest, and most tense experiences audiences can have. Of course, the comedy blockbuster Girls Trip fits into that incredible tradition. The all-female comedy is a view of Black friendship that is rarely given space on the big screen. The film was a display of comradery and a shot in the arm of big-screen comedies when released in 2017.

The success of the friendships in the ensemble comedy spoke volumes, as the movie raked in over $100 million. It was not only a hit with audiences but received a positive reception from critics, including a glowing review from CinemaBlend. The Black comedy has ranked amongst the best female-led buddy comedies since it premiered. With that in mind, I think Girls Trip is now the ultimate Black friendship movie, and here’s why.

Girls Trip Is About Friends Reconnecting After Drifting Apart

This comedy tackled a tried but true trope – friends reconnecting. Of course, Girls Trip’s premise revolved around a group of college friends reuniting at the Essence Festival after not connecting for five years. This trope works well as viewers get a peek into each woman’s daily life while watching flashbacks to their rowdy college days. Ryan (played by Regina Hall) is a best-selling lifestyle guru. Sasha (played by Queen Latifah) is running a gossip site. Lisa (played by Jada Pinkett Smith) is a party girl-turned-single mom still reeling from her divorce. Dina (played by Tiffany Haddish) is the impulsive and irresponsible one still living on the edge.

Like real-life friendships can, the Flossy Posse grew apart as life sent them on different paths. However, this fact doesn’t mean their bond has faltered. The group recommits to their lifelong friendship throughout the weekend. Of course, like any reconnection attempt, this comes with love and tension.

It’s A Rare Example Of Women Having Their Turn At Raunchy And Outrageous Fun

Bro (or frat) comedies have had their raunchy fun throughout cinema. However, comedies like Bridesmaids and Girls Trip proved that the ladies could get dirty like the guys. 

Of course, resident firecracker Dina kicks off the debauchery with her inappropriate prayer. She gets the girl squad high before Ryan’s career-making deal, leading to the infamous dance battle scene. She even gets reformed party girl Lisa to let loose and have adult fun with a younger guy (played by Kofi Siriboe). Of course, this relationship led to the iconic grapefruit scene (for better or worse). However, this bittersweet moment doesn’t compare to Lisa’s notorious urination scene during a fun night in New Orleans.

Those scenes (and so much more) proved Black women lose their inhibitions and have just as much outlandish fun as their male counterparts. The Flossy Posse picked the perfect time and venue for drunken and forgettable nights.

The Flossy Posse Navigates Changes And Personality Differences With Bumps Along The Way

The movie’s storyline focuses mostly on the group's tight bond. However, Ryan and co. have grown as women since graduating college. Of course, post-college life kept them together for life-changing moments, but that doesn’t mean the women know each other as adults. Ryan became a bigger-than-life media personality with fame, money, and a loveless marriage. Lisa turned in her dance card for a safe life as a mother and nurse. Sasha went from a prestigious journalist to a struggling gossip blogger. Dina has remained the same throughout the years (for better or worse).

However, the five-year friendship gap has bred animosity and hidden truths among the college best friends. This growing tension culminates in a nasty fight between the group over leaked pictures featuring Ryan’s husband. These growing pains showed that female friendships experience the same trials and tribulations as a bromance. Lifelong friendships aren’t immune to envy and jealousy, especially after a decades-long bond.

I Love Watching The Flossy Posse’s Bond Grow Through Healing And Empowerment

Something you rarely see in comedies is the healing process between devoted friends. Of course, Girls Trip deals with that as the women come to terms with their differing lifestyles and personalities. In true comedy fashion, each character faced regret and expressed forgiveness and compassion. Healing gave way to empowerment as Sasha, Lisa, and Dina supported Ryan in telling her truth to an audience of thousands.

I enjoyed watching the Flossy Posse grow apart and back together as each woman found strength in their incredible bond. The film proved soulmates aren't always romantic, as the ladies find love and companionship within their friendship.  

Girls Trip Celebrates Black Culture - Women Over 40, The Essence Festival, And New Orleans

Of course, Flossy Posse’s story took center stage throughout the raunchy comedy, but the film served as a love letter to Black American culture. Every scene brought clues and homages without drawing attention to them. Allowing the enchanting New Orleans and Essence Festival to be the backdrop was a beautiful way to salute Black women. The underserved group gathers yearly in the city to attend the multi-faceted festival, so having the friends gather there made sense. The sisterhood illustrated in the movie encapsulates the fun and fearless vibe at the three-day event.

With Essence Fest as the backdrop, the comedy gave audiences a rare treat – Black women over 40 as the focus. College-educated Black women finally got the chance to be outrageous and free like their white counterparts. So, Girls Trip was a rare feat for movie audiences. Seeing the Flossy Posse’s debaucherous misadventures was a detour from the traditional guy weekend or road trip films moviegoers usually see. The film even snuck in a small homage to the cult classic Set It Off, when Queen Latifah and Jada Pinkett Smith starred together for the first time. It showcased Black culture without pandering or over-explaining to a wider audience.

Girls Trip shifted Hollywood in a way audiences have not seen since Bridesmaids in 2011. It amplified Black women and culture reminiscent of the Black movie renaissance in the 1990s and 2000s. I loved watching Black women being fun, flawed, and unfiltered without outside societal pressures and norms. The quartet showed what real-life friendships go through as all involved parties mature and take separate paths. It was nice seeing mature women have outlandish fun like their male counterparts.

After the comedy’s tremendous success, talks of a much-buzzed-about sequel began at once. It's finally happening with the entire cast reportedly returning, including breakout star Tiffany Haddish. Producer Will Packer even confirmed the sequel was a go with THR. So, expect more debauchery and beautiful friendship moments when the second installment, which currently has no production or release date, finally arrives.

Some of the greatest moments in the nearly 50-year history of Saturday Night Live involve cast members struggling (and ultimately failing) to contain their laughter, and they are not the only ones. Some of the greatest SNL hosts the show has ever had are not impervious to breaking character either. As you can see from the list below, infectious examples of major celebrities who caught a case of the giggles while on the air at Studio 8H are not in short supply.  

Adele (Africa Tourism)

Adele was a great SNL host despite a lack of acting experience, but even her famously strong lungs couldn’t hold back laughter in her Season 46 episode. It’s hard to decipher if it's Kate McKinnon’s accent or just the way she says “tribesman” that causes the singer to break in the faux African tourist ad, but once she does, never quite stops.

Ben Affleck (Iranian Film)

Out of many examples of Ben Affleck breaking on SNL, we chose the Season 38 sketch framed as an HBO First Look at an Iranian-produced dramatization of the making of his Best Picture Oscar winner, Argo, called Bengo F*ck Yourself. He first snickers about two minutes in at Fred Armisen as Mahmoud Ahmadinejad portraying Affleck and a moment later when explaining he took the part of a sound man “to be in a movie worse than Gigli.”

Christina Applegate (Matt Foley: Van Down By The River)

Everyone in the ‘90s-era SNL classic — the first appearance of the late Chris Farley as motivational speaker Matt Foley — could barely keep their composure, especially after the late comedy icon accidentally destroys a coffee table. Even before then, you can see Christina Applegate struggling to hide her laughter behind her hair.

Drew Barrymore (The Love-ahs With Barbara And Dave)

The laughter was as contagious as the unbridled passion of Will Ferrell and Rachel Dratch’s recurring characters in this Season 27 edition of “The Love-ahs” set in a hot tub after notorious breaker Jimmy Fallon caused a chain reaction. Nearly three minutes in, host Drew Barrymore (as The Love-ahs’ friend, Barbara) begins her struggle to keep from giggling that lasts the rest of the sketch.

Candice Bergen (Extremely Stupid)

In SNL’s second season, Candice Bergen accidentally called Gilda Radner’s dim-witted character, Lisa, by her own character’s name, Fern, during a faux PSA sketch. All the future Five-Timer’s Club member could do is laugh as Radner then turned her planned speech about stupid people’s rights into a brilliant roast of her co-star.

Emily Blunt (Escorts)

In this 2017 bit, first-time host Emily Blunt stars alongside Leslie Jones as a pair of sex workers explaining their quirky guidelines to their clients, which involves roleplaying as a clumsy maid character she created. Twice, the British A Quiet Place star cracks up when she dons a more cartoonish British accent to say her character’s catchphrase, “Oopsy-doopsy, I muffed it up again!”

Dave Chappelle (Uncle Ben)

It’s no secret Dave Chappelle likes to shake things up when he hosts SNL, like in this sketch commenting on the recent discontinuation of food brands Uncle Ben’s and Aunt Jemima in 2020. The comedian first cracks up when debuting his deep Dennis Haysbert impersonation and again when he breaks the fourth wall with a clearly unscripted comment that makes Pete Davidson spit out his Count Chocula fangs.

Daniel Craig (Deep Quote Game Night)

It must be hard not to break when the typically well-composed Kate McKinnon gets the giggles, which seems to be what happened to Daniel Craig about 90 seconds into the Season 45 sketch "Deep Quote Game Night." Honestly, we can’t imagine this bit about a movie quote guessing game that turns awkward would have been as memorable had the former James Bond actor kept a straight face.

Larry David (New Wife)

Larry David looks so unrecognizable in this Season 43 sketch as a boisterous business man talking up his new spouse (Cecily Strong) to his coworkers, it is amazing the SNL players involved held it together so well. The Seinfeld co-creator and Curb Your Enthusiasm star causes himself to lose it completely, however, about three and half minutes into the "New Wife" sketch by the way he tells Beck Bennett’s character to “GET OUT!”

Billie Eilish (Hotel Ad)

The faux ad for a shockingly shady hotel is just one reason we’d love to see Billie Eilish return to SNL as both host and musical guest again. What makes this Season 47 bit so memorable (save a cameo from her brother and bandmate, Finneas) is the Oscar-winning singer’s frequent bouts of the giggles throughout.

Will Ferrell (Cast List)

Even a seasoned SNL veteran like Will Ferrell had to cover his mouth to hide his laughter in this sketch that was cut for time when he returned as host in Season 45. Of course, no one can contain themselves after he, as an over-serious high school theatre instructor, gets a little too close to Aidy Bryant when forcing the students to back away. 

Jamie Foxx (Maine Justice With Jamie Foxx)

Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx handles himself quite well as the bailiff in the Season 38 edition of “Maine Justice,” until it has a minute to go. All it takes is Jason Sudeikis’ uproarious judge saying the phrase “ass fire” to force the Django Unchained star to turn his head to hide his laughter, but Sudeikis kicks it up a notch by spontaneously kissing the actor’s arm.

Ryan Gosling (Close Encounter)

One of the most famous SNL breaks as of late is also our pick for Kate McKinnon’s best sketch ever: Season 41’s original version of “Close Encounter.” She has her future fellow Barbie cast member, Ryan Gosling, helplessly in stitches — just one of the host’s many breaks that night, actually — by the hilariously dry description of her otherwise horrifying alien abduction experience.

Tiffany Haddish (Whiskers R We With Tiffany Haddish)

You know comedy gold is afoot when Studio 8H brings in live animals, like in this edition of “Whiskers R We” from Season 43 that sees host Tiffany Haddish — who once auditioned for SNL — break Kate McKinnon and herself just seconds in with an unscripted, NSFW line prompted by a cat’s escape attempt. They both break again later on when a hairless feline tries to leap from McKinnon’s arms, visibly startling the future Haunted Mansion cast member.

David Harbour (Sauce) 

This Season 45 sketch starring Kate McKinnon as a frisky, elderly Italian immigrant and host David Harbour as his wife is far less messy than other sketches involving food have been. However, the Stranger Things cast member can’t help but smirk when McKinnon brings a finger dripping in sauce to his lips and inserts it right in his mouth. His laughter continues as they being to make out.

Sean Hayes (Jeffrey’s With Sean Hayes)

Many SNL hosts have fallen prey to the infectious shared laughter of notorious breakers, Jimmy Fallon and Horatio Sanz, such as Sean Hayes in this early 2000s favorite set at elitist clothing store, Jeffrey’s. Seeing Will Ferrell ride in on a scooter about four minutes in and use an impossibly tiny cell phone really sends the Will & Grace cast member over the edge.

Kevin Hart (Barnes And Noble Firing)

It’s no wonder Tim Robinson got his own Netflix sketch series, I Think You Should Leave, with how effortlessly he cracks up Kevin Hart at the end of the Barnes and Noble-set sketch from Season 38. Robinson’s performance as the “old, useless” Carl makes it impossible for the comedian to get through his lines.

Jonah Hill (Benihana) 

The most recent time Jonah Hill played his own recurring SNL character, precocious six-year-old Adam Grossman, in Season 44 might be the best because it saw him break the most. Neither the Academy Award nominee nor Leslie Jones as his nanny can keep it together every time he taunts her by singing reggae hits. 

Janet Jackson (Corksoakers)

Jimmy Fallon and Horatio Sanz are surprisingly stone-cold for most of the 2004 sketch as Italian winery owners explaining to tourists how they “soak corks.” However, host and musical guest Janet Jackson cracks up multiple times when she accidentally begins to say the actual suggestive phrase that “cork soaking” alludes to.

Keegan-Michael Key (The Muppet Show)

For anyone who ever got sick of Statler and Waldorf’s heckling, the Season 46 favorite starring Kenan Thompson and host Keegan-Michael Key as The Muppet Show venue security is for you. What makes it a classic is when the Key & Peele star beginning to chuckle after his aggressive assault on Statler causes record-breaking SNL veteran Thompson to break.

Adam Levine (Catfish)

This parody of Catfish likes to poke fun at how often Nev Shulman (host Adam Levine) mentions his name on the MTV reality series. About half-way through the sketch, the Maroon 5 frontman and former The Voice coach appears to break at his most animated utterance of the name, but bounces back pretty quickly by making it feel like a character trait.

Lindsay Lohan (Debbie Downer: Disney World) 

When people think of Rachel Dratch as Debbie Downer, they tend to think of this 2004 favorite set at a Disney World pancake restaurant that no one could keep a straight face during the sketch. First-time host Lindsay Lohan later revealed to Vogue that she was so overwhelmed by laughter, she decided to just walk off set as soon as she got the chance.

Julianna Margulies (Family Dinner)

This revolting 2000 sketch stars host Julianna Margulies as woman learning her boyfriend’s (Chris Parnell) dysfunctional salivary glands and weak teeth force his parents to feed him like a baby bird. By the end, the former ER cast member does the deed herself for the younger son (Chris Kattan) and can’t help but laugh the unspeakable act she just committed.

James McAvoy (New Orleans Vacation)

When James McAvoy hosted in Season 44, he experimented with almost as many voices as he used to play a man with DID in Split and Glass, but the one he used in this sketch was too much for him to handle. He can’t help but crack up nearly every time he puts on a thick, inauthentic Cajun accent to talk about he and his girlfriend’s recent trip to “N’awlins.”

Jason Momoa (Judge Barry)

When Jason Momoa makes a surprise cameo in a Season 45 sketch starring host Chance the Rapper as a courtroom judge of first impressions, he surprises himself with a hilarious flub. Both the Aquaman actor and the host can’t help but laugh when he calls himself a “paraplegic,” meaning to say “paralegal.”

Brittany Murphy (The Leather Man)

Season 28’s “The Leather Man” — which eventually goes off the rails courtesy of Jimmy Fallon and Horatio Sanz — might actually be a prime example of the late Brittany Murphy’s exceptional talent. You can barely even tell when she breaks with the way she convincingly disguises her laughter as a quirk that fits perfectly in line with her character.

Pedro Pascal (Lisa From Temecula)

Just when you thought the internet could not love Pedro Pascal more, he earns its respect even more just by innocently succumbing to his own laughter during his Season 48 SNL episode. The most memorable instance came in this segment in when Ego Nwodim’s Lisa shakes the table with her aggressive steak cutting, giving the star of The Mandalorian and The Last of Us a case of the giggles that proves contagious.

Chris Pine (Star Trek Lost Episode)

Initially, it seems that the most memorable highlight of this Star Trek parody will be Chris Pine’s spot-on William Shatner impression, until he snickers at the awkward line delivery of the guy playing Sulu. Fun fact, according to the SNL wiki, that gentleman is production designer Akira Yoshimura, who has played Sulu in many other sketches poking fun at the sci-fi phenomenon.

Margot Robbie (Actress Round Table) 

It is no wonder why Margot Robbie would go on to star in two movies with Kate McKinnon from how the SNL star brings the laughter out of the Australian actor in the sketch from 2016. Robbie almost loses focus of her otherwise consistent Keira Knightley impression by how fictional Hollywood veteran Debette Goldry’s (McKinnon) shocking memories get the best of her.

Adam Sandler (Sandler Family Reunion) 

In a sketch where Adam Sandler is surrounded by people imitating characters from his best movies, it was Jimmy Fallon as his grandfather who finally caused the fellow SNL retiree to laugh. Apparently, as Fallon later recalled on The Tonight Show, his overlong bout of gibberish was a happy accident caused by misreading the cue cards.   

Seann William Scott (Short Shorts For The USA)

One of Will Ferrell’s all-time best sketches on SNL first aired in 2001 and sees him wear a half-shirt and a thong to work in the name of patriotism. Host Seann William Scott holds back the urge to laugh at the ridiculous and revealing ensemble from beginning to end.

Justin Timberlake (Celebrity Family Feud)

For his second time hosting, Jimmy Fallon impersonated Jim Parsons in a “Celebrity Family Feud” alongside musical guest Justin Timberlake as… Jimmy Fallon, with an incredibly enthusiastic imitation that the pop star can’t help but crack up at himself.  There is no clip of the Season 39 sketch on YouTube currently, but we recommend using a Peacock subscription to check out the whole episode.

There is sure to be more where these came from when SNL comes back for its 49th season on NBC.

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour has been the hottest concert ticket of the year, and this past week the pop star has been playing a record-breaking run of six sold-out shows at Sofi Stadium in Los Angeles, California. Since L.A. is the home of so many famous Hollywood stars, tons more big celebrities enjoying the concert are popping up on social media – the latest being Tiffany Haddish having a girls' night with Cameron Diaz and Zoe Saldaña. 

I don’t know about you, but I had absolutely no idea this trio would exist. However, it’s great to see these three powerhouse actresses enjoying Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour from the floor of Sofi Stadium. Check out Haddish’s hilarious video watching the show as Diaz and Saldaña chill next to her: 

Honestly, watch this entire Instagram video, it’s too good. Haddish posted a bit of her experience with her fellow actresses, dancing to “no body, no crime” of all songs with drinks in hand. Haddish was completely vibing with Swift’s show in the evermore segment, and I can’t imagine how much the section was getting down once her Reputation or 1989 eras began. 

Haddish had funny commentary to share with fans while she watched the show too, quipping that Swift “got the woods in the middle of Inglewood” as the song transitioned to “willow.” The actress also compared the section of the tour to her latest movie, Haunted Mansion along with saying she was definitely going to lose her voice by the end of the show.

The trio of A-list actresses joins a long list of celebs who are making it to Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. Swift landed in Los Angeles on Thursday night to a crowd of famous folks including Brie Larson, Alexandra Daddario, Sarah Paulson and Lupita Nyong’o, among many, many others. However, throughout Swift’s tour across the United States, we’ve seen big stars like Emma Stone, Laura Dern, Paul Rudd, Blake Lively, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Josh Gad, to name a few, pop up to listen to Swift's music and trade friendship bracelets with the Swifties.

The Eras Tour is so lucrative and popular that Taylor Swift is reportedly making $13 million a show! Once Swift ends her six-show run at Sofi Stadium, she will have concluded her first U.S. leg of the tour that began back in March. In late August, Swift will be back on the road briefly in Mexico before heading to Brazil in November and Japan in February 2024. She’ll continue to tour her show throughout 2024, as she even announced more dates this week. 

There’s so much upcoming Taylor Swift to look forward to, and you gotta love the singer bringing together Haddish, Diaz and Saldaña for the occasion!

You might know TIffany Haddish from her career-making, hilarious performance in 2017’s Girl’s Trip. Since then, she’s been absolutely crushing the entertainment industry, most recently starring in Disney’s Haunted Mansion. As it turns out, working with Disney is a full-circle moment for the comedian, as she once aspired to be a cast member at Disney parks. In a weird turn of events, they rejected her audition, but she certainly got the last laugh.

I recently caught up with Tiffany Haddish to discuss the new Disney film, and she got into how badly she wanted to wanted to be a part of the Disney family, at a time when she had no idea just how far she’d make it:

She’s not wrong! Disney may have rejected her as a parks princess, but now she’s getting paid as a full-blown Disney movie star. Which, to her point, is likely more lucrative. Not that she’s short of work, as Haddish stars in Apple TV+'s The Afterparty, and you can stream new episodes now. While it may have made some changes from Season 1 to Season 2, her character Detective Danner is one of the only constant threads throughout the popular comedy/mystery series. 

Despite the backlash, she may even return for Girls Trip 2, according to Regina Hall. I bet that Disney parks wish they had hired her now! It just goes to show what’s possible, despite any failures.

Haunted Mansion is also a delightful ride (pun intended), which our very own Eric Eisenberg called “spooky and fun” in his official review. During a very competitive opening weekend, they have had some clever marketing techniques. Haddish’s co-stars Jamie Lee Curtis and LaKeith Stanfield even worked a shift at the iconic Disneyland ride on which the film is based. Haddish may have been a little jealous that Jamie Lee was afforded the opportunity, as you can see in the video at the top of this article, but maybe, if she’s lucky, Tiffany Haddish will one day be able to work at a Disney park. 

Haunted Mansion is in theaters right now! You can see Tiffany Haddish’s turn as a psychic medium, and Jamie Lee Curtis as the famous Madame Leota, with Owen Wilson and LaKeith Stanfield ridding the titular mansion of its ghostly residents. It’s a hot time for the theatrical experience, and if you’ve got the cinematic thirst, we have the 2023 movie release schedule.

We are in the midst of the revitalization of the whodunit genre. Some of it has been inspired by the success of Rian Johnson’s Knives Out, which spawned a winning sequel in Glass Onion. Johnson continued developing the genre in the spectacular series Poker Face, available to audience members with a Peacock subscription. That show follows the fantastic Natasha Lyonne as a wanderer with a flawless bullsnit detector, and every episode wraps up a wildly original crime. But then there’s The Afterparty, a sprawling murder mystery streaming on Apple TV+ that stretches over the course of an entire season, with each new episode providing clues by looking at the story from fresh angles. And some changes were made behind the scenes from Season 1 to Season 2 that, believe it or not, made things a bit more complicated for the cast.

The Afterparty made it to our list of the best whodunit shows on television, which also includes Only Murders In The Building and Mare of Easttown. The action on Season 2 of The Afterparty moved to a wedding reception, and brought back three characters from the first season, including Zoe Chao and Sam Richardson. And when we interviewed them about the differences between Season 1 and Season 2, where Richardson mentioned a specific change. He told us:

But as you might imagine, having watched the first three episodes of The Afterparty Season 2, that can make for a nightmare of continuity. Because each episode centers around a new character, and adopts the tone of a fresh genre (so far, we have seen a Jane Austin period piece, and a gritty film noir). Both Zoe Chao and Sam Richardson praised the work of Chris Miller and the creative team for helping the cast to maintain their narrative threads, and knowing what their characters are supposed to know, and when they are supposed to know it. Otherwise, the whole mystery could unravel. 

There are a handful of incredibly clever genre spoofs still to come in The Afterparty Season 2, including one inspired by the films of Wes Anderson. The trailer for Season 2 will give you a hint of what’s still to come:

We knew that the concept would easily transition to a new location (like we said, in this case, a wedding reception), and can’t wait to see where the rest of the episodes in Season 2 will take the characters. Disney has given us several movies based on its theme park rides over the years. And when Justin Simien’s Haunted Mansion hits theaters July 28, it won’t be the first time this particular attraction has been depicted on the big screen. Eddie Murphy starred in The Haunted Mansion in 2003, and then the Muppets took a swing just a couple of years ago with 2021’s Muppets Haunted Mansion. Now, the upcoming Disney movie has held its premiere, and those who were able to attend an advance screening are hitting social media with their first reactions.

This time around it’ll be Rosario Dawson leading an iconic cast that also includes LaKeith Stanfield, Owen Wilson, Tiffany Haddish, Jamie Lee Curtis and more. From what we know about Haunted Mansion — and what’s shown in the Disney film's trailer — audiences can expect plenty of laughs peppered into the spooky imagery, but let’s see what those who have seen the movie are saying.

Jazz Tangcay of Variety confirms there are plenty of laughs and jump scares in the film, but tweets that the movie’s portrayal of loss and grief was unexpected: 

Shannon McGrew of Nightmarish Conjuring agrees the film is filled with heart, and she credits the writing of Katie Dippold. Dippold’s background is in comedy, working on Mad TV and Parks and Recreation before penning The Heat with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy, as well as the 2016 remake of Ghostbusters. That humor is apparent, as McGrew also notes that Haunted Mansion walks a thin line between humorous and spooky:

POC Culture tweets that fans of the theme park are going to love this flick, assuring movie-goers that it pays homage to the famous Disney ride with plenty of easter eggs. However, the thread continues to say the movie’s plot is unnecessarily bloated: 

Russ Milheim of The Direct agrees with the opinion above, saying Haunted Mansion is not without its faults but is a love letter to the ride that will bring fans much joy: 

Steven Weintraub of Collider notes that this movie will scare the kids and entertain adults, which might make it a good gateway horror option in a summer that’s filled with family friendly options at the theater. He tweets: 

Kristen Lopez of The Wrap calls this latest theme park ride adaptation wonderful, specifically shouting out the visual effects and the score from Academy Award nominee Kris Bowers. Lopez writes: 

So far, it seems like those who've screened Haunted Mansion agree that lovers of the ride are going to enjoy this movie. It also sounds like a good one to bring the family too, since the jump scares will be balanced out by plenty of laughs. When a television show is on for an exceptionally long time, it’s fun to go back to early episodes and not only witness how the series has evolved, but also to look for familiar faces. A great number of popular actors got their starts in the industry by doing single episode appearances, and it can be a thrill to recognize them from a time before they became well-known. It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia is a terrific title to explore in this regard, as seasons from more than a decade ago feature some very familiar names.

Malcolm Barrett

From Timeless to Preacher to Better Off Ted to The Boys, Malcolm Barrett is consistently a highlight in every show in which he appears, but all the way back in 2005 he was a part of television history: the very first episode of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia. The show launched with a pilot titled “The Gang Gets Racist,” and Barrett plays Terrell – a club promoter who promises big crowds for Paddy’s Pub and, to the surprise of the gang, turns the bar into a hot spot for the gay community.

Jaimie Alexander

A full six years before she would make her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Sif in Kenneth Branagh’s Thor, Jaimie Alexander’s second professional acting gig in Hollywood was the third episode of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia. In “Underage Drinking: A National Concern,” she plays Tammy – a high school student who makes Dennis uncomfortable by coming on to him shortly after Mac and Charlie accuse him of chasing young women. It turns out, however, that she is simply flirting with him as a means of getting revenge on her ex-boyfriend, and she ditches him right before her prom.

Paul Walter Hauser

You’d be excused for not recognizing Paul Walter Hauser from his single episode of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia – after all, he is wearing Insane Clown Posse makeup for most of his appearance. The Golden Globe-nominated star of Richard Jewell and the Apple TV+ miniseries Black Bird is in the episode “Dee Reynolds: Shaping America's Youth,” and gets taken under Charlie’s wing when the former Paddy’s Pub janitor becomes a custodian at his former high school.

Jimmy O. Yang

In 2014, Jimmy O. Yang landed his first significant supporting role on a TV series, accelerating his comedy career, but it was a year before that when he played Tang-See in the “Flowers For Charlie” episode of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia. The part was his first credited character with a name, and he is featured as a scientist who oversees Charlie while he is the subject of a Flowers For Algernon-esque experiment – one that turns out to be completely bogus and does nothing but inflate Charlie’s ego instead of making him smarter.

Tiffany Haddish

The second season premiere of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, “Charlie Gets Crippled,” is best known among fans for featuring the first appearance of Danny DeVito as Frank Reynolds, but not to be ignored is a surprise appearance from comedy star Tiffany Haddish, more than a full decade before her breakout turn in Girl’s Trip. She is credited as “Stripper #3” in the episode, and is featured in a scene where Charlie tries to pick up women at a strip club after breaking both of his legs. Unfortunately, he takes a bit too much inspiration from Tom Cruise’s performance in Born On The Fourth Of July and ends up freaking her out.

Retta

Retta ended up becoming a TV staple after landing the role of Donna Meagle on Parks & Recreation, following up that series with shows including Girlfriend’s Guide To Divorce and Good Girls, but the year before becoming a part of Must-See TV history saw her appear in the It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia episode “The Gang Gets Extreme: Home Makeover Edition.” She plays a clerk at a hardware store who has a spat with Dennis and Charlie when they try and charge more than $3,000 to a non-existent Extreme Home Makeover account while they are illegally working to renovate a neighbor’s house.

Pablo Schreiber

These days, Pablo Schreiber is best known for playing the helmeted Master Chief on the series Halo and as George “Pornstache” Mendez from Orange Is The New Black, but you may not recall that, back in 2009, he appeared in the “A Very Sunny Christmas” episode of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia (admittedly, this did come after his recurring role on Season 2 of The Wire). In the holiday special, Schreiber appears as Ricky Falcone, a former classmate of Mac and Charlie’s whom Mac unknowingly robbed on Christmas day during his childhood. The pair of idiots try and make it up to Ricky as adults, but they go about it in an exceptionally stupid fashion (no surprises there).

Nasim Pedrad

Nasim Pedrad got her big break in 2009 when she became a part of the cast of Saturday Night Live, but within a month of her first episode on the classic sketch show, she also appeared on It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia. Fans can spot her in the first scene of “The Waitress Is Getting Married” in Season 5, as she plays a salesperson in a bridal shop who accuses Dee of trying on wedding dresses without being engaged. It’s a fun bit of history that is made more fun knowing that Nasim’s younger sister, Nina Pedrad, became a writer and producer on the FXX series in 2021.

As you can see, It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia has an impressive history of casting young talent, and it’s something that the show continues to do to this day. The sixteenth season of the beloved comedy series has begun, airing new episodes on FXX on Wednesdays. As Jamie Foxx continues to recover from a serious “medical complication,” many A-listers and friends have shown their support for the Ray actor. Now, the Day Shift star is back home, and healing, and his friend Tiffany Haddish shared a heartfelt message for him. 

News was announced that Foxx had had a serious “medical complication” about a month ago. Since then, news has been up and down about his recovery, but he seems to be stable now. While chatting about the Ray actor with People, Haddish showed her support for him by saying:

The actress continued to share her well wishes for Foxx, saying:

Since the news broke about Foxx’s “medical complication,” there’s been a lot of reports about his well-being. While we don’t know what exactly happened, he was hospitalized and tests were reportedly being run, and his daughter Corinne said in a statement that “due to quick action and great care,” her dad was on his way to recovery. 

Along with Haddish many fans and friends have shown their support for Jamie Foxx. Viola Davis shared a heartfelt post about her friend and Law Abiding Citizen co-star, LeBron James showed his love for the actor, and Nick Cannon supported his friend writing in part on Instagram:

Following this news, Foxx himself spoke out about his hospitalization with a simple Instagram post, writing:

Then, some really great news came when Corinne Foxx posted a hopeful update, saying that her father had been out of the hospital for a while, and he was even “playing pickleball.” Also, as Haddish seemed to allude, Foxx’s daughter pointed out that it was “sad to see how the media runs wild,” since there had been a lot of rumors flying around about her dad’s health.

Following Foxx’s health scare, two of his projects, Back in Action and Beat Shazam resumed production without him. Although it sounds like he’s on his way back to full health, and will hopefully be back to work in no time. 

Jamie Foxx currently has four movies slated on the 2023 movie schedule – Strays, They Cloned Tyrone, God Is A Bullet and Tin Solder. He’s also working on Back In Action, which stars Cameron Diaz. Hopefully, he continues to heal and get better, so he’s ready to rock as these exciting projects make their way to the big screen. 

Considering Nick Cannon is known to be one of the most prolific entertainers in Hollywood when it comes to conceiving offspring — currently at 12 and possibly counting — it's no surprise the Internet fully bought into Cannon and Kevin Hart teaming up on a new show featuring women competing to have the Masked Singer host's next kid. But as it turns out, that viral clip wasn’t for an actual reality competition, but was created for a wild new show that the duo are ready to spring on audiences in the very near future: E!’s Celebrity Prank Wars. 

The comedy-loving friends have engaged in some large-scale prank battles against one another in recent years, from Nick Cannon using his own personal decoration ideas for Kevin Hart’s private plane to the Jumanji franchise star sending Cannon a vending machine full of condoms (not to mention that billboard gag). As such, they’re as logical a hosting duo as I could imagine, and they’re bringing in a bunch of talented celebs to go head-to-head for what will hopefully be the most epic prank-friendly TV show since Jackass. 

Here’s the full rundown of past and present WWE Superstars, actors, musicians and more that will be heading to the funny-bone zone when Celebrity Prank Wars debuts on Thursday, April 6:

To start off with, we have the always hilarious Anthony Anderson, and I can only imagine what kind of tomfoolery he'll come up with. (Fun fact: this is the third project to be announced this week for the black-ish and Law & Order vet, as he has a new comedy pilot and food-geared series on the way.) Let's just hope he'll be in an episode taking on his Hustle & Flow co-star Taraji P. Henson, because that could be more hype than a mere rap battle.

Speaking of rap, quite a few lyricists and musicians from other genres are representing in this lineup, from Fast franchise vet Ludacris to new Voice coach Chance the Rapper to vocal-effect trendsetter T-Pain to docuseries host Killer Mike. Is Lil Jon in there also? "Yea-yuh!" And viewers can also anticipate seeing T.I. waving his prank flag, but will it be against his "Blurred Lines" padna Robin Thicke? Seems likely enough, although the latter's Masked Singer has featured Joel McHale as a frequent guest star. And let's not forget about American Idol winner Fantasia.

And from there we go to a different group of audience-wowing performers. On the stand-up comedy side, there's The Afterparty star Tiffany Haddish and Guy Code's Lil Duval. And rounding things out are those made famous through WWE pro wrestling, including twin reality stars Brie and Nikki Bella and the three New Day founders Big E, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods.

In 2017, after acting and performing standup comedy for over a decade, Tiffany Haddish starred opposite Regina Hall, Jada Pinkett Smith and Queen Latifah in Girls Trip. Haddish’s performance as Dina was among the many positively-received elements of the comedy movie, leading to Haddish becoming a well-known name in Hollywood. Haddish is now expecting to re-team with her co-stars for Girls Trip 2, and she seems surprised about the backlash over her potential return.

Girls Trip 2 has been a potential project on the table going as far back as early 2019, but in January 2022, producer Will Packer shared that the sequel was “underway.” Then last month, Tracy Oliver, who co-wrote the first movie with Kenya Barris, declared that Girls Trip 2 was “officially happening” with all four main cast member returning. Universal Pictures, the studio behind Girls Trip, has yet to confirm this is the case, but Tiffany Haddish is ready to jump back into the role of Dina, telling TMZ the following when she was asked about the push to get her character either kicked out of the sequel or recast:

So Tiffany Haddish is all in on Girls Trip 2, though as she pointed out, “Y'know every year they say this.” Whether or not this is finally the time for the sequel to move forward won’t be known until Universal Pictures chimes in, but that’s a discussion for another time. Some of you reading might be wondering why there’s backlash over Haddish’s involvement in Girls Trip 2. Well, at the end of August 2022, Haddish was accused of child sexual abuse alongside fellow comedian Aries Spears. The 22-year-old plaintiff known only as Jane Doe claimed that these two made her and her now-15-year-old brother “sexually suggestive acts on camera while underage.”

A few days later, Tiffany Haddish’s lawyer, Andrew Brettler, stated that this there was no merit to this lawsuit, and that it was just an extortion attempt. Haddish soon after went on social media to share that she “deeply” regretted taking part in the sketches where these incidents took place. By the end of September, the lawsuit against Haddish was dropped, for which the actress expressed her relief and thankfulness in the following month. Nevertheless, in the aftermath of this legal saga, there are some people who feel that Haddish shouldn’t be involved in Girls Trip 2, to which she said:

Prior to the lawsuit being set aside, Tiffany Haddish shared that she’d lost a lot of work due to the accusations leveled against her, but judging by her new comments, it doesn’t sound like he’s in jeopardy of being kicked off Girls Trip 2. This follows a few weeks after Haddish stood her ground at Sundance over her new movie Landscape with Invisible Hand being showcased at the independent film festival despite being backed by a major studio. As far as Girls Trip 2 goes, while no specific plot details have been teased yet, Tracy Oliver said that the filmmaking team is “looking to set it in Ghana.”

Tiffany Haddish started her career by making audiences laugh as stand-up comic before starring in the critically-acclaimed comedy Girls Trip. She's been doing more varied work in recent years, though her newest film is Cory Finley’s Landscape with Invisible Hand, which is based on M.T. Anderson’s science-fiction novel of the same name. When it had its premiere at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, an audience member shared a gripe about the new movie, and Haddish had something to say.

The annual Sundance Film Festival serves as a showcase for various big-screen productions (most of which are indie movies) and, this year, Tiffany Haddish's latest is definitely one of the most unique. In the upcoming Landscape with Invisible Hand, Earth is taken over by aliens called the Vuvv, who bring wonderful technology to the planet that only the rich can afford. This causes two teenagers to live stream their love story to the fascinated aliens in the hope of receiving financial compensation for it. Apparently, one festival attendee took issue with the flick because it's produced by a major studio, and the moment was caught on video by Deadline Hollywood. Ultimately, Tiffany Haddish stood her ground, though, and sought to defend it. Take a look at the video below:

In the video, an audience member directed his question towards Landscape with Invisible Hands' producers and the Sundance programming team. He asked if they found it ironic that a movie about exploited young artists has studio financing and is holding its world premiere at Sundance. While the query may not have been directed at Tiffany Haddish, the 43-year-old comedian dropped some honest thoughts:

Her answer was met with thunderous applause. Her comments seem to suggest that if the folks involved didn’t have a problem with the message the movie presented, then others may not want to take issue. What's unique about the indie world is that it that festivals like these are crucial for allowing small films and even lesser-known creatives to get their names out into the open. This isn’t Cory Finley’s first time at Sundance, as he presented his directorial debut -- the black comedy thriller Thoroughbreds -- which underwent great changes during its development. On a side note, he also helped bring out Hugh Jackman’s funny side in HBO’s Bad Education, which won Outstanding Television Movie at the 2020 Emmy Awards, with Jackman being nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie the same year.

As for what’s next for Tiffany Haddish, we’re happy to know that a sequel to Girls Trip is finally happening! Considering what a riot the previous film was, it’ll be amazing to see her reunite with Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Regina Hall for outlandish mishaps and heartwarming moments. More immediately though, Haddish will also star in Disney's Haunted Mansion reboot alongside Lakeith Stanfield, Owen Wilson and more. It's great that she's sticking to her comedy roots, but it's also wonderful to see her doing new kinds of projects and being so passionate about them.

When I first learned that The Late Late Show with James Corden was coming to an end because Corden was stepping down as host of CBS’ talk show after nearly a decade on the job, I knew the announcement would be met with some differing reactions from the public. However, all that went through my mind was the question of whom the English Emmy and Tony Award winner would be passing the torch to when he officially leaves in the spring of 2023.

Later, I heard from Variety that CBS was considering abandoning the single-host format and replacing the actor with a whole panel. I will certainly keep that exciting idea in mind as I present a few people I think would make for a great new Late Late Show host (or hosts, perhaps).

Neil Patrick Harris

Like James Corden, Neil Patrick Harris has won multiple Emmy Awards and a Tony Award and has hosted a few award ceremonies to great acclaim, including the Oscars in 2015. Of course, that information just barely scratches the surface as to why the multi-talented and effortlessly charming former How I Met Your Mother cast member would kick serious butt as the new face of The Late Late Show.

Tig Notaro

Acclaimed stand-up comedian and Army of the Dead cast member Tig Notaro once hosted an online talk show called Under a Rock, which sheds light on her inability to immediately recognize celebrities by challenging her to guess the name of her guest in each episode. I think the experience might have served as great preparation for her to take on a job like hosting The Late Late Show, which would also give her the opportunity to become a little more in tune with pop culture.

Samantha Bee

Someone with experience hosting a late night show and whose own Emmy-winning program was recently and suddenly cancelled after seven seasons on TBS is Samantha Bee. I believe the Full Frontal host deserves to be given another chance to have her bold, unfiltered voice heard as the headliner of another show and I like the idea of her following her fellow former Daily Show correspondent — Late Show host Stephen Colbert — every night.

Nish Kumar

A comedian known for hosting the United Kingdom’s own equivalent to The Daily Show, The Mash Report, from 2017 to 2020 is Nish Kumar, who is severely underrated and underexposed in the United States. Because James Corden was also not very widely known to American audiences before taking over as host of The Late Late Show, maybe the gig could help the British-Indian comic — who already deserves another show, in my opinion — achieve greater status here.

Richard Ayoade

Another supremely talented British comedian I thought of to replace Corden (and I promise the amount of fellow U.K. natives on this list was purely coincidental) is Richard Ayoade, whom most probably recognize as Maurice Moss on one of the funniest British comedies on Netflix, The I.T. Crowd. He has brought his signature, subversive wit to various hosting gigs over the years — i.e. his Oscars Slap joke at 2022’s British Academy Television Award — and I believe it deserves a more stable home for American audiences to bear witness to on a nightly basis.

Matt Berry

Ya know, if The Late Late Show does become a panel talk show, I think it would be a great opportunity for Ayoade to reunite with fellow The I.T. Crowd star Matt Berry as co-hosts. Yet, that being said, the star of FX’s series adaptation of What We Do in the Shadows (and Toast of London, to name just a few) — with his velvety, booming voice and impeccable comedic talent — would be a more-than-perfect choice on his own, too.

Keegan-Michael Key

Ever since he and Jordan Peele brought their beloved, eponymous sketch comedy series to a close in 2015, Keegan-Michael Key has been busy doing a bunch of stuff, from poking fun at musicals with Cecily Strong on Apple TV+’s Schmigadoon! or doing the same with Hollywood’s obsession with reboots in the Reboot cast for Hulu. The Emmy winner has also tried his hand at hosting the likes of game shows, awards ceremonies, and even daytime TV (with a guest host gig on Live with Kelly and Ryan), but not late night, which I think he would be a fantastic candidate for. 

Tiffany Haddish

Tiffany Haddish has also been a guest-host on Live with Kelly and Ryan, as well as Ellen, in addition to hosting TBS’ movie presentation lead-in talk show, Friday Night Vibes, for 13 episodes and winning an Emmy for hosting Saturday Night Live in 2018. Let alone the fact that she is one of her generation’s most renowned comedians and versatile talents, she certainly has the right experience to show that she is ready to take on a gig like hosting The Late Late Show.

Aziz Ansari

Since he and the rest of the Parks and Rec cast had their final curtain call, Aziz Ansari has been up to a lot of different things — such as creating and starring on the Emmy-winning Netflix comedy, Master of None, and working on his feature-length directorial debut, Being Mortal — but “host” is not a title he has added to his resume since the 2010 MTV Movie Awards. I think we should change that, because The Late Late Show could use someone with the unique, comedic perspective that he has shown in some great stand-up specials over the years.

Billy Porter

I am not sure if there is anything that Billy Porter cannot do, based on his Emmy Award win for his starring role as Pray Tell on Pose, multiple Tony Award wins, and reputation for consistently employing the most entertaining presence in whatever project he is involved with — such as in Amazon Prime’s Cinderella cast, for instance. Therefore, even if he was not brought on as the sole host of The Late Late Show, his lively, infectious, flamboyant personality would easily make him the most memorable member of the panel.

Craig Ferguson

Do you remember when Conan O’Brien took over The Tonight Show for an astoundingly brief seven months and people got pissed when the person he replaced, Jay Leno, came back to host it afterward? I think that if Craig Ferguson — the person James Corden replaced — were to come back to The Late Late Show, it would have the opposite effect, because the Scotsman remains, in the eyes of many, the most beloved host in the show’s history.

Especially if the multi-host format becomes a reality, the possibilities of who could take The Late Late Show to new heights in its next era are endless.

Comedian Tiffany Haddish has had a great couple of years, becoming a bankable TV and film actor after her star-making moment in Girls Trip. But their thriving career seemingly was put in jeopardy in September, where she and Aries Spears were accused of grooming and sexually abusing two minors. The case has since been settled out of court, and Haddish is thanking God now that the situation can seemingly be put behind her.

The case against Tiffany Haddish was dropped toward the end of September, with the accuser Jane Doe even issuing a statement in support of the 42 year-old comedian. This is seemingly a great relief for the Afterparty actress, who was lamenting that she didn’t have a job as a result of the controversy. But that might change now that the matter was settled amicably, with Haddish sharing her relief and thankfulness on Twitter with:

There you have it. Tiffany Haddish was the subject of some very serious allegations, so it should come to no surprise that she’s happy the ordeal has come to an end. We’ll just have to wait and see how her professional life is able to recover from the controversy that has surrounded her for a few weeks.

Tiffany Haddish’s Twitter post helps to show where the actress/comedian’s head is at in the wake of her lawsuit being dropped. The stakes were definitely high both professionally and personally, and she’s giving thanks to God for “getting rid of the mess” that was dominating her life. And she’s seemingly trusting the process as she rebuilds now that the case has been settled.

As previously mentioned, the accusers not only suddenly dropped the abuse lawsuit against Tiffany Haddish, but also issued a statement in support of the Girls Trip actress. That statement from Jane Doe reads:

This is a major change from the allegations that were attached to the case, and shows that Tiffany Haddish is seemingly in the clear both legally and interpersonally. Considering the seriousness of the issue, it should perhaps come to no surprise that she’s feeling so grateful for this happy ending. 

Tiffany Haddish previously complained that she doesn’t have any acting gigs as a result of the allegations, and indeed she’s not currently attached to work on anything new. But Haddish does still have a few projects coming down the line that were filmed before the lawsuit, including a role in Disney’s Haunted Mansion movie. The legal battle between Tiffany Haddish and two people who accused the comedian of child sex abuse is apparently over, as the case has reportedly been dismissed by a judge. However, it appears that things are not truly over for Haddish herself, as she claims she has lost all work she had planned due to the allegations. 

While it’s unclear what led to the dismissal of the claims against Tiffany Haddish and Aries Spears, and any settlement, if there was one, is almost certainly sealed, the damage has apparently been done to Haddish. TMZ has published a video of a photog catching up to the actress at LAX and asking her thoughts on the case being dismissed, and she’s not nearly as happy as you might expect because she says she’s entirely out of work. Haddish says bluntly…

It’s certainly not uncommon for even allegations of wrongdoing to lead studios to want to distance themselves from different performers so as not to be associated with whatever the issue is. Will Smith’s career has been in a holding pattern since his incident at the Oscars as several of his projects have been put on hold. In that case it’s less clear how much the slap onstage has directly led to the film delays, but Haddish is drawing a direct line between the lawsuit and lost work.

There were a couple of high profile projects that Haddish had reportedly been signed on to do. Last year it was announced a biopic on Olympic Legend Florence Griffith Joyner was in the works. However, that film was being produced by Haddish’s own production company, so it seems unlikely that job would be lost, though the production may have been put on hold. 

Earlier this year it was also announced that a sequel to the highly successful Girls Trip was also planned, although that film was clearly in very early stages, with no script yet, so that wasn’t an upcoming job, at least not in the short term.

Tiffany Haddish certainly won’t disappear entirely as she had several projects that she had already completed prior to dealing with the lawsuit. The most significant of these is Disney’s new take on a Haunted Mansion movie, where Haddish will play a New Orleans psychic. That film was recently delayed and one now has to wonder if that decision was made for production reasons or other reasons.

With the lawsuit apparently over, and Haddish not publicly admitting to anything, it’s possible that this lack of work is a temporary situation that will resolve itself once a little time passes and these allegations fall out of memory. At this point it seems only time will tell.

The lawsuit against comedians Tiffany Haddish and Austin Spears has sent shockwaves through Hollywood as the two have been accused of child sexual abuse. They’re being sued by the alleged victims, an anonymous brother and sister, and while the accusers are apparently willing to talk settlement with Haddish, the two sides have come to an agreement that will seal some elements of the case from public view.

The original complaint, which includes several photographs of the alleged male victim, then 7-years-old, in his underwear as part of a skit he was in with Haddish and Spears, will remain under seal, so the photos will not be made available to the public. 

According to Radar Online, a Federal court judge temporarily sealed the complaint due to the photographs of a minor in his underwear, and asked the two sides to come to an agreement on whether or not the complaint should remain sealed. Due to the fact that John Doe, the name being given to the alleged male victim, was a minor at the time, and still is, and that he could potentially be identified due to the photographs, it was decided to keep them sealed. Since both accusers are trying to remain anonymous, if somebody were able to ID the male victim, his sister's identity would likewise become comprimised.

The lawsuit stems from a pair of incidents that allegedly took place in 2013. Tiffany Haddish and Austin Spears worked with the brother and sister, then 7 and 14 years of age, on a pair of comedy sketches. Haddish allegedly asked the girl to perform simulated sexual acts for one skit. Spears worked on camera with the boy playing the part of a pedophile. While both comedians deny any wrongdoing, Haddish has expressed regret in being involved in the skits. 

The language from both sides has been quite pointed. Haddish’s lawyer called the lawsuit frivolous, saying that the mother of the alleged victims has attempted to sue multiple times over the years. Austin Spears called the case extortion. On the opposite side, Jane doe has asked for Haddish to be arrested and charged criminally, in addition to being sued.   

Despite the harsh words from both sides, recent court documents have indicated both sides are willing to discuss mediation or some other form of settlement. Jane and John Doe have specific requirements for a settlement, however. They want Tiffany Haddish to publicly apologize as well as recant previous comments that the accuser's mother had previously tried to shake down the actress. 

Any other settlement terms are unknown, and any settlement would almost certainly remain just as sealed as this initial complaint. If a settlement is not reached, then it would seem things are headed to court, where some details will almost certainly become public.

It's only been a couple of weeks since a bombshell was dropped when comedian Tiffany Haddish was accused of child sexual abuse, along with fellow comedian Aries Spears. Accusations have been thrown by both sides, with Haddish's side calling the case a "shakedown" and one of the accusers calling for Haddish's arrest. But now it looks like a possible path to a conclusion may have begun, as the two sides may be willing to talk settlement.

According to court documents obtained by Radar Online, Tiffany Haddish's legal team has suggested beginning mediation or some other form of settlement talks, and Jane Doe, the alleged female victim who brought the suit, says "My brother and I are amenable to Plaintiff Haddish’s desire to engage in mediation/settlement talks." 

The accusers claim they have attempted to speak directly to Haddish's lawyer, but they have never received a response. The documents claim Haddish's team "have instead chosen to reach out to my mother to get her to force my brother and me to settle."

There are some very specific requirements that Jane Doe has for any final agreement. Any mediation between the two sides "must take place in Las Vegas within the next two weeks," and the cost of it would need be paid by Haddish. In addition, Jane Doe expects Haddish to recant the shakedown comment, which was made recently by her lawyer. And they also expect an apology, the documents read...

The issue comes down to a pair of skits that the anonymous brother and sister were allegedly involved in when Jane Doe was 14 and her brother was seven, before Haddish had become the star she is now. In one, Jane Doe was allegedly taught by Haddish to perform inappropriate simulated sexual acts. In another, the alleged male victim was stripped to his underwear while Aries Spears played the part of a pedophile.  

Tiffany Haddish has said she regrets being part of the skits but both defendants have strongly proclaimed their innocence and have accused Jane Doe and her brother of simply trying to get money from the stars, Aries Spears called the case extortion.  This case was apparently brought by the children's mother previously but the allegations were eventually dropped. Now that Jane Doe is of age she has brought the case herself.

If mediation does move forward that this case will probably go quiet, as neither side will want to talk about what is happening. Of course, even if the parties do attempt to find a settlement, there's no guarantee they'll be able to agree on terms. If that happens this case is likely going to court, and a lot of eyes will be on it.

Tiffany Haddish’s starpower has been steadily growing over the past few years, going from a successful comedian (although she’s had some recent bombs) to a bankable movie and TV star. But the Girls Trip star recently found herself in the midst of a major controversy, as a family is alleging her of child sexual abuse. It’s a serious situation, and now the accuser wants an “immediate arrest” for Haddish.

The allegations against Tiffany Haddish and fellow comedian Aries Spears are related to a video short titled “Through a Pedophile’s Eyes.” The family claims that Haddish groomed two young people during this process, and asked them to perform sexual suggestive movements. While the legal system is currently at work, the primary accuser Jane Doe wants her to be arrested. In a letter to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office (via People), she asked for an immediate arrest and prosecution “for the sexual assault and molestation of my brother and me.” As the letter reads:

Well, they certainly didn’t mince words. There are more eyes than ever on the ongoing accusations surrounding Tiffany Haddish and Aries Spears, and it seems the accusers want to see more action from law enforcement. We’ll just have to wait and see how the proceedings ultimately shake out, and if they get their wish.

People reached out to the LA District Attorney’s Office for their piece, inquiring as to whether or not they’ve received written communication from Jane Doe and the family in regards to the Tiffany Haddish accusations. The office provided a statement in response to this claim, saying:

It sounds like the situation is ever-changing, and the public will no doubt continue to follow each update with bated breath, considering the celebrities involved and the serious nature of these allegations. For his part, Aries Spears indicated that it was an extortion attempt, a sentiment that was also shared by Tiffany Haddish’s lawyer. The actress/comedian herself addressed the situation on social media, posting:

Both Aries Spears and Tiffany Haddish have mentioned that they can’t speak to the case very much, as it’s an ongoing legal matter. But with new statements coming from the accusers, it’s unclear if that might change. But what is clear is that everyone involved (including law enforcement) is taking the situation quite seriously.

There’s been a lot of talk about Tiffany Haddish and comedian Aries Spears this week after a lawsuit dropped accusing the two of grooming and molestation. The allegations stemmed from working with minors on a sketch comedy skit that later was posted on Funny or Die. (Though Funny or Die made it clear they were not associated with getting the skit made, calling it "absolutely disgusting.") Now Spears has broken his silence about the legalities coming up. 

Aries Spears is ½ of a duo that hosts the "Spears & Steinberg" podcast. The comedian dropped a teaser for the episode on social media in which he and his podcast partner, Andy Steinberg, spoke out about their respective weeks. Andy wasn’t doing too badly, but Spears obviously felt he needed to address the elephant in the room, and did so: 

His comments echoed that of the other celebrity named in the lawsuit, Tiffany Haddish, who previously said she was “relieved” this video and lawsuit had finally come to fruition, as she notes she was “tired of being extorted” over the comedy sketch. You can see Aries Spears’ full comments below.

How Tiffany Haddish Has Responded To The Grooming Lawsuit

Tiffany Haddish has spoken out about the lawsuit that came down the pipeline as well, and she has towed a similar line to what Aries Spears said in his comments. But Haddish did get candid about having “deep regret” for what went down in the sketch and what came after.

When the lawsuit was filed, it contended that two individuals known as Jane Doe (22) and John Doe (reportedly 15) were "groomed" into "filming sexually graphic child pornography skits." Tiffany Haddish's lawyer Andrew Brettler has named the mother in the lawsuit, Trizah Morris, and has said that she has "been trying to assert these bogus claims for years." He also mentioned this had previously come up with other lawyers, all of whom had previously dropped the case before it became the suit that we heard about in the last few days. 

Haddish has been having a seemingly tough year after breaking up with her partner Common at the end of 2021 and getting candid about a subsequent DUI. Haddish's best movies aren't behind her or anything, as she has plenty of projects coming up, including The Haunted Mansion movie. Still, this lawsuit is seemingly coming during a time of transition for the actress.

More details related to this case will likely come out in the weeks to follow, though lawsuits such as this one often settle without making it into the courtroom. (The Amber Heard and Johnny Depp courtroom and unsealed documents brouhaha was an outlier.) We’ll keep you updated either way.

Last week, Girls Trip star Tiffany Haddish was accused of child sexual abuse for incidents that happened in the 2010s. A plaintiff identified only as 22-year-old Jane Doe has accused the stand-up comedian/actress, as well as MADtv alum Aries Spears of making her and her now-15-year-old brother, known as John Doe” of performing “sexually suggestive acts on camera while underage.” Now Haddish has responded to the accusations that have been leveled against her.

Days after Tiffany Haddish’s lawyer, Andrew Brettler, described this lawsuit as an extortion attempt from the plaintiff’s mother that’s been going on for years, Haddish herself has released a statement stating that while there’s little she can say about this matter, she does regret her role in the video that is a key piece of this lawsuit. Per her words shared on Instagram:

For those out of the loop on this controversy surrounding Tiffany Haddish, there were two specific incidents brought up in this lawsuit involving Jane and John Doe, with Haddish and Aries Spears having reportedly met their mother on the comedy circuit about a decade ago. The first incident happened in 2013, when Jane was 14 years old and she was courted by Haddish and Spears to be in a commercial. The two showed the girl a video of some coeds arguing over a subway sandwich that then led to these individuals ““moaning and making sexual noises as they both ate the sandwich in a manner that simulated the act of fellatio,” as described by the lawsuit. Haddish asked Jane to replicate these actions, but when the girl, who was “physically, emotionally, and mentally uncomfortable” when hearing these instructions, wasn’t able to do this satisfactorily, Haddish payed her $100 and sent her on her way.

The second incident, which is the one Tiffany Haddish was referring to in her statement, took place a year later and revolves around a video called “Through a Pedophile’s Eyes.” This time, John Doe was the one who would be on camera, and the lawsuit states that he spent most of it in his underwear and dealt with, among other things, Aries Spears allegedly putting baby oil on his back. The shoot ended with John in tears, and when his mother demanded to see the footage that was recorded, she was told it had been deleted because her son was “uncooperative.”

Cut to now, Tiffany Haddish made it clear that she wishes she hadn’t been involved in the making of “Through a Pedophile’s Eyes,” but beyond that, she’s not willing to comment further since this is an ongoing case. Obviously these allegations are a big deal, and we’ll continue to provide updates on what’s happening with her and Aries Spears regarding the lawsuit. It’s also worth mentioning that Funny or Die, one of the online platforms that “Through a Pedophile’s Eyes” released on, has described the video as being “absolutely disgusting” and removed it from the website upon learning of its existence, as it was user-generated content rather than something Funny or Die had a hand in putting together.

Meanwhile, Tiffany Haddish is still has various movies and TV shows on the way, including being part of the cast of Disney’s Haunted Mansion reboot, which comes out on  March 10, 2023. Her Girls Trip co-star Regina Hall also recently said that Girls Trip 2 has been written, but it remains to be seen when the sequel will begin production.

Comedian Tiffany Haddish’s starpower has been steadily growing over the last few years, thanks to acting roles in movies and TV shows, as well as continued work as a stand-up comic. But recently she’s been the subject of some controversy, as she’s being accused of grooming and molestation by a pair of siblings. This shocked the public, and now Haddish’s lawyer has responded after the Girls Trip star was sued over child sexual abuse.

News of these allegations only recently broke, and center around two different incidents involving 22 year-old Jane Doe and her younger brother John Doe, who is reportedly 15. The two claim that Tiffany Haddish and comedian Aries Spears coerced the younger brother into adult acts while filming a short for Funny or Die titled “Through a Pedophile’s Eyes” back in 2013. But Haddish’s lawyer Andrew Brettler claims this is just an extortion attempt, one that’s been happening for years. As he shared to TMZ:

That certainly seems like a confident response, and it sounds like Tiffany Haddish’s legal team has been familiar with these allegations for some time. According to Brettler, there isn’t merit in the case, which is why so many lawyers have reportedly dropped it before this time. We’ll just have to wait and see how this situation shakes out for both Haddish and Aries Spears.

The allegations surround Tiffany Haddish claim that after appearing as a guest speaker at a comedy camp, she allegedly told Jane Doe she had a role for her in a commercial, before asking her to mimic sexual noises and simulate felatio. The siblings maintain that Haddish approached the family one year later so John Doe would appear in the aforementioned Funny or Die video. During that time they maintain a number of inappropriate interactions occurred.

Said video “Through a Pedophile’s Eyes” is not actually available to watch on Funny or Die. The website issues a statement to TMZ about that digital short, claiming:

Clearly this is a serious matter, and the allegations carry a great deal of weight. Although Tiffany Haddish’s lawyer seems confident that the actress/comedian is free of wrongdoing. We’ll just have to wait and see how it all shakes out.

Although Tiffany Haddish has been professionally performing for approximately 25 years, the last half decade has seen her popularity skyrocket thanks to her breakout role in the well-reviewed comedy Girls Trip, which co-starred Regina Hall, Jada Pinkett Smith and Queen Latifah. Between the projects she’s starred in since Girls Trip (which is getting a sequel… eventually) and what she appeared in before, Haddish has built quite a lineup of memorable movies and TV shows, but now she’s in the news for a darker reason. The actress/comedian has been accused of child sexual abuse.

As reported by The Daily Beast, 22-year-old Jane Doe and her 15-year-old brother John, who have adopted pseudonyms, are claiming that there were two separate incidents where Tiffany Haddish and fellow comedian Aries Spears (whose credits include MADtv, The Proud Family and TripTank) made one of the siblings “perform sexually suggestive acts on camera while underage.” Jane, who is John’s legal guardian, is serving as the plaintiff in a lawsuit filed on Monday against Haddish and Spears both individually and on her brother’s behalf. 

Tiffany Haddish is said to have met Jane and John Doe’s mother through the comedy circuit, and Haddish developed a friendly relationship with the children. However, in the summer of 2013, when Jane was 14 years old, she attended a comedy camp where Haddish was a guest speaker, and the actress allegedly told the girl that she’d found “a perfect role for her” in a commercial, although what said commercial was about wasn’t immediately revealed. Instead, Haddish and Aries Spears allegedly had Jane watch a clip of “a group of coeds were arguing over a subway sandwich,” but this led to the individuals in the clip “moaning and making sexual noises as they both ate the sandwich in a manner that simulated the act of fellatio,” according to the lawsuit.

From there, the lawsuit states that Aries Spears “mimic what she had seen on the screen, including the noises precisely like what she heard throughout the video,” and Tiffany Haddish “verbally explained” what was expected of the girl, who was “physically, emotionally, and mentally uncomfortable” while hearing these instructions. Jane’s attempts to mimic these actions came off as “super uncomfortable,” and Haddish allegedly just paid her $100 and sent the girl home, and Jane didn’t tell her mother what had happened at the time. 

The second incident occurred a year later, with Tiffany Haddish approached Jane and John’s mother about John appearing in a video that was allegedly initially described as a sizzle reel for Nickelodeon, but ended up being a video called “Through a Pedophile’s Eyes” that was shared on Funny or Die and other websites. The children were separated during the shoot, which took place at Aries Spears’ home, and John’s portion of the shoot saw him spending most of it in his underwear in front of Spears, who, among other things, allegedly put baby oil on the kid’s back.

The mother later demanded to see the footage that was shot, but according to the lawsuit, she was told that it was deleted because John had been “uncooperative.”

Cut to today, Tiffany Haddish and Aries Spears are both accused in this lawsuit of “intentional infliction of emotional distress, gross negligence, sexual battery, sexual harassment, and sexual abuse of a minor,” while Haddish is additionally accused of “negligent supervision/failure to warn, breach of fiduciary duty, and constructive fraud.” The lawsuit, which is seeking general and special damages, as well as “any appropriate statutory damages,” also says that although Jane and John’s mother negotiated a settlement in 2019, it allegedly does not bind Haddish nor the children. Andrew Brettler, Haddish’s attorney, shared the following statement:

Rosario Dawson (Gabbie)

Leading the impressive cast of Haunted Mansion as Gabbie –  a single mother, doctor, and new owner of the “strangely affordable” New Orleans mansion – we have Rosario Dawson, whose relationship with Disney dates back to her role on Star Wars TV show, The Mandalorian, as Ahsoka Tano, which she is reprising in her own upcoming, self-titled series on Disney+. The actor broke into Hollywood as a teen with her underrated performance in Kids before becoming a “Geek Goddess” by playing multiple comic book characters like Wonder Woman in some DC animated movies, nurse Claire Temple in Daredevil and other MCU-canon shows, and, eventually, narrating Max’s new DC docuseries, Superpowered: The DC Story. Also recently, she received acclaim for her performance in Hulu’s Dopesick cast, reprised her Kevin Smith movies role in Clerks III, and – according to Variety – is lending her voice to an upcoming interactive animated adventure series called Ghosts of Ruin.

Owen Wilson (Father Kent)

If The Exorcist taught us anything, it’s that when you’re dealing with otherworldly beings, call a priest. In Haunted Mansion, that priest will be played by Owen Wilson, who also has previous ties to Disney as the voice of Lightning McQueen in the Cars franchise and playing Time Variance Authority officer, Mobius, in the MCU. The actor – who has an Oscar nomination for co-writing one of the best Wes Anderson movies, The Royal Tenenbaums – also made his debut under Anderson’s direction (one of many times) in 1994’s Bottle Rocket, before going on to an eclectic career involving a few blockbusters like Armageddon, many classic comedies like Meet the Parents and Wedding Crashers, and films that combine drama with comedy fair like Midnight in Paris and the more recent Paint, in which he plays a Bob Ross-like character hosting a public TV art show.

Lakeith Stanfield (Ben Matthias)

Widowed scientist-turned-failed paranormal expert, Ben, will be played by Dawson’s Sorry to Bother You co-star and one of the first people cast in Haunted Mansion, Lakieth Stanfield. After making his debut in the acclaimed 2013 drama Short Term 12, the actor, went on to star on one of the funniest shows on Hulu, FX’s Atlanta, play a memorable role in Jordan Peele’s directorial debut, Get Out, and earn an Oscar nomination for Judas and the Black Messiah, among so many other highlights. Next in the pipeline for Stanfield is an Apple TV+ original sci-fi series called The Changeling and a biblical epic coming out in 2024 called The Book of Clarence.

Tiffany Haddish (Harriet)

Playing a psychic named Harriet, we have Stanfield’s co-star from Jay-Z’s “Moonlight” video, Emmy winner Tiffany Haddish, who has also worked with Jordan Peele to great effect in 2016’s Keanu, in addition to her many great scene-stealing and lead roles in comedies like Girls Trip and The Oath. She has also tried her hand at drama in the likes of The Kitchen and The Card Counter, and a mix of both with movies like Here Today and TV shows like The Afterparty as Detective Danner, whom she is reprising for Season 2 on Apple TV+. She is also known for lending her voice talents to many notable roles, such as Queen Watevra Wa’Nabi in The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part and Netflix original-turned-Adult Swim series, Tuca and Bertie as Tuca.

Danny DeVito (Bruce)

As a “crotchety” college history professor named Bruce – according to D23.com – is an actor more than capable of embodying the concept of “crochety”: Danny DeVito, whose own previous Disney credits include Dumbo (which also reunited him with his Batman Returns co-star, Michael Keaton, and director, Tim Burton) and the One and Only Ivan voice cast in 2020. Years earlier, he was best-known for his Emmy-winning role on Taxi and movies like Throw Momma From the Train, The War of the Roses, and Matilda (all of which he also directed), but the Academy Award nominee (for co-producing Erin Brockovich) has a special fanbase these days that know him as Frank from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Also this year, he lends his voice to Migration and will soon star alongside Chris Pine in his directorial debut, Poolman.

Chase Dillon (Travis)

Rounding out the key cast members as Gabbie’s son, Travis, is Stanfield’s The Book of Clarence co-star, Chase Dillon, who makes his theatrically released filmed debut with Haunted Mansion, as his only other film role was the Netflix original western, The Harder They Fall, in 2021. The young actor has appeared in several TV projects – including his debut on BET’s series reboot of First Wives Club; the Max original sketch comedy, That Damn Michael Che, as the SNL star’s younger self; one of the best Amazon Prime original series, The Underground Railroad; and Apple TV+’s animated series, Pinecone & Pony.

Jared Leto (The Hatbox Ghost)

It wouldn’t be much of a Haunted Mansion movie without some direct references to the popular attraction, and the new film has found some big names to take on some key roles, such as Jared Leto as the Hatbox Ghost, according to EW. The Academy Award winner (for 2013’s Dallas Buyers Club) last played a creepy creature in his Marvel movie debut, 2022’s Morbius, (six years after his DC movie debut as the Joker in Suicide Squad) but has a more longer history with horror, having starred in the 1998 slasher Urban Legend, a memorable scene from American Psycho, and the extremely disturbing thriller, Requiem for a Dream. From his breakout performance as Jordan Catalano on My So-Called Life to his lead role in the upcoming Tron sequel, Ares, the Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman has led a pretty eclectic career.

Jamie Lee Curtis (Madame Leota)

Succeeding Jennifer Tilly in the role of the iconic Madame Leota – the head inside the floating crystal ball – is, arguably, the all-time best Scream Queen, Jamie Lee Curtis. Of course, in addition to being the face of the Halloween movies not named Michael Myers and starring in plenty of other great horror movies, the daughter of Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh has a couple of other Disney movies on her resume – namely Freaky Friday and Beverly Hills Chihuahua. Curtis – who recently won Best Supporting Actress for Everything Everywhere All At Once – will also soon appear in the film adaptation of the Borderlands video game. 

Winona Ryder (Pat)

As a teaser for Haunted Mansion reveals, Winona Ryder is making a cameo as a tour guide named Pat – only her latest role in a long line of creepy credits. After breaking out in the Beetlejuice cast as Lydia (whom she is reprising in the upcoming sequel), she led the dark teen movie, Heathers; starred in a some more classic Tim Burton movies (such as Edward Scissorhands); and played Mina Murray in Francis Ford Coppola’s Dracula adaptation. Of course, the two-time Academy Award nominee (for Little Women and The Age of Innocence) is also expected to return for Stranger Things Season 5 as Joyce Byers.

Dan Levy (Vic)

Along with Ryder, another actor revealed to be joining Haunted Mansion at D23 Expo in a small, unconfirmed role is Dan Levy, who is best known from the Schitt’s Creek cast as David Rose. The son of his co-star and co-creator, Eugene Levy, first got into acting with a small role on Degrassi: The Next Generation and more recently appeared in Hulu’s Happiest Season cast, lent his voice to Netflix’s Q-Force, and was on an episode of The Idol for HBO. He also created and judges a reality cooking competition for Max called The Brunch. 

Hasan Minhaj (Sketch Artist)

Appearing as a police sketch artist whom Ben and Bruce enlist to identify a ghostly encounter, we have Hasan Minhaj – formerly of The Daily Show and Netflix’s Patriot Act. Some of his most notable acting credits include two of Kate McKinnon’s best movies (Rough Night and The Spy Who Dumped Me), and Jennifer Lawrence-led 2023 comedy, No Hard Feelings, more recently. The comedian also has a couple great Netflix original stand-up specials called Homecoming King and The King’s Jester.

There are plenty more other grim, grinning ghosts to behold, in addition to star-studded Haunted Mansion cast. Any volunteers to see the new film when it hits theaters Friday, July 28th?

The 2022 Oscars was something to remember. There were some legendary wins, such as Ariana DeBose’s historic accolade or CODA receiving Best Picture. But nothing was quite talked about more than the slap that was heard around the world. That’s right, I’m talking about Will Smith defending his wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith, after Chris Rock made fun of her alopecia on stage that night, when he walked up to him and slapped the comedian straight across the face.

The response from the world has been mixed, to say the least, with some agreeing with what Smith did and others, not so much, and this comes from those in Hollywood, as well. From people who have co-starred with Smith, or were friends with Rock, to people who just wanted to share their opinion on the matter, here are nine celebrities and how they felt about that infamous slap. 

Steve Harvey

Steve Harvey is known for his fun TV hosting skills and creating some viral moments on Family Feud, and he decided to comment on the incident, calling it a “punk move” on Smith’s part, during a speaking engagement that happened at Georgia State University, via Deadline. Commenting on his nature as a Christian and how he personally feels, he said:

Whoopi Goldberg

Whoopi Goldberg has made her name in Hollywood by appearing in many movies and drawing eyes to The View, where she’s acted as a moderator for several years now. But, like everyone else, she also commented on the slap, saying that “nobody is OK” with what occurred, while on The View:

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

Likewise, famous NBA all-star, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (who actually guest-starred on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air way back when alongside Smith) went online to express his thoughts on the matter, but did so in his own personal essay on Substack. You can read Abdul-Jabbar's full statement there, but he did talk about how it was so inappropriate for Smith to do what he did, and how it paints not only the entertainment industry but the Black community in a bad light:  

Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj is known for her numerous contributions to the music industry, specifically in the rap genre as a Black female artist, but on Twitter the night of the Oscars slap, she offered her thoughts on the matter, and agreed with what Smith did, saying that you have to think of it from his perspective:

Next up, we have Tim Allen, a comedic actor known for many great movie roles, who, while he wasn’t in attendance at the ceremony, wanted to express his thoughts on the manner on Twitter as well, commending Rock’s way of handling the situation and condemning what Smith did:

Tiffany Haddish has been making a name for herself in Hollywood over the last several years with appearances in several movies and TV shows, and she took the time out of her day to comment on the incident to People Magazine, defending Smith and saying it was “the most beautiful thing” she’s seen:

One of the most iconic actors of the last several decades is Mark Hamill, who's known for his role as Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars saga, and like many others, he used his social media platform to express his thoughts on the slap on Twitter:

Comedians from all over were standing by Chris Rock after what happened, but one who decided to make a little bit of a joke out of the whole incident was Conan O’Brien. The former late-night talk show host, who hosted his TBS show, Conan, until 2021, simply released this statement about the Oscars slap on Twitter:

I would have loved to see O’Brien's take on it during an hour of late night.

Sophia Bush

Last but not least, Sophia Bush of the One Tree Hill cast fame, also condemned Smith’s actions on Twitter, but was also not completely on Rock’s side either, saying that both parties were in the wrong:  

While I doubt we’re going to get as big of a moment as this one at the Oscars again for some time, we truly won’t ever forget this - and I’m sure those in Hollywood won’t forget it either. 

Let me tell you - I thrived off of The Proud Family when I was a kid. I loved that show to pieces and enjoyed every family message, hilarious bit, and all around great characters up until the show ended. It’s a fantastic animated show centered on a wonderful Black family, and will surely make anyone love these funny members of the Proud family. So, imagine my excitement when I found out that The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder was coming to Disney+.

To say I was eager to see what the show had to offer with a more grown-up Penny and a new atmosphere is an understatement, and the moment that it premiered on the popular streaming platform, I was watching it from day one. From that first episode, I’ve noticed so many fun cameos from celebrities that are truly hilarious to re-watch, so here are my top eight celebrity voice cameos from The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder Season 1. 

Lil Nas X (June Bug)

While his cameo in the season finale of The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder was short, I have to put it on here for the fact that it made for good entertainment. When the Proud family visits family in Oklahoma, they get caught up in the wrangling business, and you can clearly hear Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” in the background as Oscar (the father) tries to wrangle horses. 

His character, June Bug, is seen only for a little while, saying "I'm the only one that plays guitar around there." It’s certainly a fun little cameo that, if you recognize his voice, you can clearly tell that is him, without a doubt. 

Tina Knowles (Ms. Gina)

It seems the drama that Tina Knowles had with Disney+ is over with, as she actually had a guest spot on The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder in the episode, “Raging Bully.” Here, she plays Ms. Gina, the owner of a fancy hair salon that no one can ever seem to get an appointment at. That is, everyone but Suga Mama, whom Ms. Gina always makes time for. 

It’s a hilarious cameo and one that I really enjoy, as you can really tell that Knowles connected with the character and had a super fun time recording it. 

Eva Longoria (Melrose Avanúñez)

Eva Longoria has been a big name in Hollywood for some time, from her starring role in the Desperate Housewives cast, to taking on new TV and movie roles over the last few years. She decided to step back into the voice-over world with a cameo in The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, when she voiced Melrose Avanúñez in the episode, “A Quinceañera to Remember.”

There’s just something about her voice that makes me smile, but her character, Melrose, is the opposite, as she clashes with everyone at LaCienega Boulevardez’s party and makes everyone’s life a living hell, which further shows her voice-acting talents. I also especially like that she was a part of an episode that really took the focus away from Penny, giving other characters the chance to shine more. 

Lamorne Morris (Himself)

As a New Girl fan who loved Lamorne Morris as part of the New Girl cast, I have to say, him in The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder was something I didn’t know I needed. His guest cameo, where he plays himself, in the episode, “When You Wish Upon a Roker” (which also guest-stars Al Roker), is just perfect. 

Morris is the lead of a hip-hop musical based on the life of Benedict Arnold - you know exactly what this is parodying, and yes, it is indeed Hamilton, the smash hit that was released on Disney+ in 2020 for the world to see. It’s hilarious to see him in this role and I personally wished we had gotten more of this parody than we did. I would have listened to a whole soundtrack of just Lamorne Morris rapping. 

Lizzo (Herself) 

Hands down, this was one of the best cameos of the season, specifically because Lizzo sounded like she was having the time of her life recording this. 

Lizzo has been making headlines for the last several years, whether that be from her hosting SNL to going viral when she shared her DM’s with Chris Evans, you just can’t not love this performer, which is why she was the perfect choice to guest star as herself in The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, during the episode,  “Snackland.”

Her role is perfect, where she comforts Penny after her friends replace her in a group because they didn’t like her voice. Lizzo, who was in the area, comforts Penny and tells her to embrace her voice in her own Lizzo-way, truly inspiring me, as well, to embrace who I am. The queen of self-confidence, that is exactly who Lizzo is. 

Tiffany Haddish (Ms. Hill)

When I think of Tiffany Haddish, I always instantly think comedy. Haddish has so many hilarious movies and TV roles that it’s not a surprise that she’s also in the voice-acting world, as her personality leaks through and shines in any character that she does. That’s the case for her cameo in The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, in the episode, “Home School.”

Here, she voices Ms. Hill, a substitute teacher for Penny, who has a surprising backstory - that she lives in the teacher’s lounge rather than a home, and Penny learns about the lesson of being grateful for the home that she lives in - because not everyone else can have a nice home like she does. It’s a great cameo for Haddish, as it not only teaches a valuable lesson, but shows off her voice-acting skills wonderfully. 

Bretman Rock (Makeup Boy)

If you follow YouTube creators, like I have for many years, this name probably sounds pretty familiar. Bretman Rock is a famous influencer who is known for his killer makeup looks, which is what made me so excited to see him guest-star in The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, in the episode, “Bad Influence(r).”

He plays a character called Makeup Boy, an influencer whom everyone seems to be obsessed with besides Penny, who sees through his tactics, and finds a way to get him canceled by getting famous herself. As someone who has grown up in this cancel culture and makeup guru world on YouTube, it is hilarious to see it come to life on television, and honestly, Bretman Rock was the perfect person to play that role. I especially love that Makeup Boy isn't even upset that he was canceled near the end - he instead thanks Penny for making him remember his roots. Just perfect. 

CeeLo Green (Shuggie)

Last but not least, we have CeeLo Green, a legend in the music industry, who guest-starred on the pilot episode of The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, called “New Kids on the Block.” In this episode, Green plays Shuggie, a panda. That’s right, you heard me, a panda. 

It’s a stupid-funny cameo, where Shuggie insists to Penny and Maya (someone she’s trying to be friends with) that he doesn’t want to be saved even though everyone assumes he wants to be. He’s happy just being who and where he is and doesn’t need people to assume he wants to be anywhere else. Green’s voice was the best choice for Shuggie, as he not only gives an attitude to the panda but sings a fun song that shows off his vocals, too. 

With The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder getting renewed for Season 2, according to Variety, it’s only a matter of time before we get to see more celebrity guest cameos. And, I’m sure they’ll be just as entertaining as these were.   

There have been plenty of great meta movies released over the years, with everything from Being John Malkovich to Last Action Hero and even Adaptation coming to mind. Well, now we can add another title to that list with the long-awaited release of The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, the new action comedy from Tom Gormican that features Nicolas Cage playing himself, or at least a fictionalized and over-the-top version of himself.

If you have either seen it, or plan on seeing one of the craziest 2022 movies, you may be wondering exactly where you’ve seen the members of The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent cast before and why they look so familiar. Well, look no further, because we’re about to break it all down now, starting with the man himself: Nicolas Cage.

Nicolas Cage (Nick Cage)

No shocker here, but Nicolas Cage shows up in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent as Nick Cage, a comedic take on himself who appears to be up there with any of the wild characters the Academy Award winner has played in the past. He even shows up as an imaginary character named Nicky Cage, as seen in the film’s red band trailer on YouTube.

Depending on when you started watching movies, you either remember Cage from films like Wild at Heart and Moonstruck, or The Rock and Con Air, or The Wicker Man and Drive Angry. This is just to say that Cage has been in just about and every type of movie there is, which has resulted in the actor appearing in more than 100 movies throughout his career, and it doesn’t look like he’s going to slow down any time soon.

Pedro Pascal (Javi Gutierrez)

Pedro Pascal shows up in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent as Javi Gutierrez, a mysterious billionaire who pays Nick Cage a whopping $1 million to attend his birthday party, but looks can be deceiving.

Although he is one of the actors who has played two different characters in the Law & Order franchise, Pascal is probably best known for his portrayal of Din Djarin, a.k.a. “Mando” on The Mandalorian and later in The Book of Boba Fett. He also appeared on shows where his face is shown, like Game of Thrones, The Good Wife, and Narcos. His film work includes everything from Wonder Woman 1984 to We Can Be Heroes, and Kingsman: The Golden Circle to If Beale Street Could Talk.

Neil Patrick Harris (Richard Fink)

Neil Patrick Harris joins The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent cast as Richard Fink, Nick Cage’s agent who convinces him to take the birthday party gig at Javi Gutierrez’s massive estate.

Harris, who got his big break as the titular character on the medical series Doogie Howser, M.D., has gone on to have a successful career in show business, with series like How I Met Your Mother, Glee, A Series of Unfortunate Events, and several others. His film career has been just as notable with Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, Gone Girl, 8-Bit Christmas, and The Matrix Resurrections, to name only a few. 

Tiffany Haddish (Vivian)

Taking on the role of Vivian, a CIA agent who tries to convince Nick Cage to provide information on Javi Gutierrez in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, is Tiffany Haddish.

For the better part of the past decade it has been almost impossible to escape Tiffany Haddish, as the comedian-turned-actress has appeared in everything from Keanu to Girls Trip and Like a Boss to Bad Trip, and everything in between. And, that’s even before you factor in shows like The Carmichael Show, The Last O.G., and Tuca & Bertie. Haddish is set to star in the upcoming Haunted Mansion reboot.

Ike Barinholtz (Martin)

Ike Barinholtz shows up in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent as Martin, another CIA operative hoping to use Nick Cage as an inside source for an ongoing investigation into Javi Gutierrez’s dealings.

Best known for his portrayal of Morgan Tookers on The Mindy Project, Barinholtz has also had notable roles on shows like Eastbound & Down, Bless the Harts, Madtv, and The Afterparty, which also featured co-star Tiffany Haddish. His film work includes The Disaster Artist, Neighbors, and Blockers.

Alessandra Mastronardi (Gabriela)

Taking on the role of Gabriela in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is Alessandra Mastronardi.

Throughout her career, Mastronardi has appeared in movies like To Rome with Love, The Fifth Wheel, and Lost in Florence, as well as shows like Titanic: Blood and Steel, Medici, and Master of None, where she played Dev’s (Aziz Ansari) love interest Francesca in the Netflix show’s second season.

Jacob Scipio (Carlos)

Jacob Scipio shows up in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent as Carlos, one of Javi’s trusted henchmen.

If Scipio looks familiar it is probably because of his portrayal of Armando Aretas in Bad Boys for Life, a character who provided for quite the revelation in the 2020 buddy cop movie. His other film roles include The Outpost, Without Remorse, and Last Looks. He will soon appear in two of the most anticipated action movies in recent memory — Batgirl and The Expendables 4.

Lily Sheen (Addy)

Taking on the role of Addy, Nick Cage’s daughter in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, is Lily Sheen, the daughter of Kate Beckinsale and Michael Sheen.

Over the years, Sheen has appeared in movies like Everybody’s Fine, Click, and Underworld: Evolution, in which she played a younger version of her mother’s character, Selene.

Sharon Horgan (Olivia)

Sharon Horgan shows up in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent as Olivia, Nick Cage’s ex-wife.

To some, Horgan will be most recognizable for her portrayal of Sharon Morris on the romantic comedy series, Catastrophe, which she also wrote and created alongside co-star Rob Delaney. Her other TV credits include Pulling, Women on the Verge, and Disenchantment, to name a few. Her film credits include Game Night, How to Build a Girl, Dating Amber, and Death of a Superhero.

Paco León (Lucas Gutierrez)

Paco León takes on the role of Lucas Gutierrez, one of Javi’s closest allies who doesn’t trust Nick Cage in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. 

Throughout his career, León has appeared in mostly Spanish films like Queens, Kiki, Love to Love, and 7 Años, as well as a list of TV shows that includes Blowing Kisses, The House of Flowers, and Arde Madrid, to name only a few.

First up on the list, we have Girls Trip. This hilarious 2017 comedy follows the story of four friends who are looking for a chance to reconnect, so they go on a trip to New Orleans for the Essence Festival, and wouldn’t you know that it turns into a crazy adventure that has drinking, romancing, and so much more that’ll make you laugh. 

Girls Trip was actually the first movie where I noticed Tiffany Haddish (like many others), and for good reason. Her performance in the comedy film was stellar and I would willingly return to watch the movie again because she’s so funny and it’s definitely one of her best films. It looks like Girls Trip 2 might even happen, so who knows? We might get to see Haddish flex her comedic skills with this character once more.

Tuca & Bertie (2019 - Present)

Next up, we have Tuca & Bertie. This adult animated series, starring Tiffany Haddish and comedian Ali Wong, is about a friendship that has lasted decades, specifically following two birds in their thirties who are roommates and go on ridiculous adventures together. 

When I say that Tiffany Haddish has the perfect voice for voiceover role, I mean it with my whole heart. Her voice has so much personality in it that it’s hard for you to picture anyone else in the role of Tuca and she rocks it. Also, she and Ali Wong have some of the best chemistry I’ve seen in a comedic show - and it’s literally just their voices. It was a fan-favorite on Netflix before it got revived at Adult Swim, so you know it’s going to be fantastic.

The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part (2019)

Moving on, we have The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part. This popular sequel follows the same characters that we grew to love, now five years later when a new threat comes to ruin their lives and all that they hold dear. Emmet and all his friends must reunite to save his city once more. 

Tiffany Haddish voices Queen Watevra Wa’Nabi, a shapeshifting empress, and oh my God, her character is so funny. Like legit funny. She has a whole sequence in the film where she sings that she’s ‘not evil,’ when she clearly is, and Haddish is just perfect in this role. While Haddish has also had pretty big supporting roles in other animated films, such as The Secret Life of Pets 2 and The Angry Birds Movie 2, her role in this is stellar and I would willingly listen to her voice this role again. She’s just so good with voiceovers.

The Afterparty (2022)

Moving on, we have the Apple TV+ original, The Afterparty. This series follows several characters who have just come from a high school reunion and are now at an after party, and each episode features a new take on what happened that night from different perspectives when tragedy strikes and someone is murdered. 

When I think of some of the best Tiffany Haddish roles, this is certainly up there. Haddish and murder mysteries, for me, go hand in hand because she was phenomenal in this role. She stars in this series and takes charge and holds your attention from beginning to end with her witty comedy, as well as her great acting skills, alongside an impressive guest list of stars. If you’re into murder mysteries, please check this series out.

Keanu (2016)

Ever wonder what would happen if your new kitten got mixed up with the wrong people? That’s the question Keanu tries to answer. In this comedic film starring Key and Peele stars Jordan Peele and Keegan Michael-Key, one friend becomes attached to a kitten after a breakup, but then finds this kitten missing from his home, only to find out that this cat is part of a bigger issue. Now, it’s up to him and his cousin to get his kitten back. 

This movie is just so ridiculously funny. Not only is it one of Jordan Peele’s best movies, because he really shows off his comedic timing that we all know and love, but Tiffany Haddish rocks her role in this, playing Trina Parker, otherwise known as “Hi-C,” and she and Peele have some of the best scenes that make me snicker every single time I’ve watch. Also, that cat is just too dang cute for its own good. I want my own Keanu.

The Last O.G. (2018 - 2020)

Next up, we have the series The Last O.G. This show, starring Tracy Morgan, features the life of Tray Barker, a man who has served fifteen years in prison and is now being released. But, he finds that the neighborhood he once called home has changed, and his girlfriend is now married. Now, it’s up to him to become a better man. 

Co-created by Jordan Peele and John Carcieri, I really like The Last O.G., and Tiffany Haddish is a big reason why. For the first three seasons, her role as Shannon Birkeland was funny, honest, and the perfect part for her. She and Tracy Morgan had surprisingly great chemistry and painted a story that I enjoyed about him trying to do what he could to become a better version of himself - through hilarious means of course. TBS knocked it out of the park with this one.

The Carmichael Show (2015 - 2017)

Moving on, we have The Carmichael Show. This short-lived sitcom follows a fictionalized version of comedian Jerrod Carmichael, and his daily life with his family and the crazy adventures that they get into. 

While the show only lasted three seasons, I personally believe it should have lasted longer, because The Carmichael Show was genuinely funny and had a lot of heart, especially with Tiffany Haddish’s character, Nekeisha Williams-Carmichael. She and Bobby (Jerrod’s brother, played by Lil Rel Howery) have some of the funniest scenes and have such a strange dynamic that you can’t help but watch, and it could only be played by Haddish. If this show had lasted more than three seasons, I certainly would have kept watching.

The Oath (2018)

Ah, Thanksgiving. A time for giving thanks, eating a ton of food, and being with family. But, The Oath shows the other side of the holiday when a family hosts Thanksgiving and has to deal with political divide in a world where the United States has asked its citizens to sign a pledge of loyalty. 

I’m going to be honest, this film brought back memories from past family Thanksgivings of my own, and wowie, I was laughing throughout. While The Oath’s story could have been a little better done, I think Haddish was, honestly, the best part of it. As the lead character, she makes this film hilarious and offers a funny take on modern-day politics that would make anyone laugh. I’m not even the type of person to get into movies that come even close to politics, but I would willingly do it again for this film.

Uncle Drew (2018)

Moving on, we have Uncle Drew. This basketball comedy follows a young man that is desperate to win a cash prize at a basketball tournament, so he gets Uncle Drew, a legend in basketball, to get all his buddies back together to show that old men still have it in them to play the court. 

This film has so many stars that it’s sometimes hard to keep track of everyone, but there’s no way you can miss Tiffany Haddish. While her role is a little smaller than the others, her character, Jess, is hard to miss, as she has a personality that steals the spotlight and demands attention, and only Haddish could bring that attitude and sass to this materialistic girl - and she does it perfectly. It’s definitely a fun basketball movie to watch, one you should certainly check out if you’re a fan of the sport and of Haddish.

Self Made (2020)

Last but not least, we have Self Made, otherwise known as Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam C.J. Walker. This Netflix miniseries, starring Octavia Spencer, tells the story of Madam C.J. Walker, a woman who ended up breaking boundaries in America and becoming the first ever self-made Black female millionaire with her hair care empire. 

First off, let me just say this - the cast in Self Made? *Chef’s kiss.* Stunning. Everyone does such a great job, specifically Octavia Spencer as C.J. Walker herself. But Tiffany Haddish doesn’t get enough credit and praise for her role as Leila. It’s a very different role from what the star is usually used to performing, putting away her comedic talents for a more dramatic piece, and honestly, she’s amazing in it. It makes me realize how much more I want to see Haddish in dramatic roles because the actress has some serious talent that I really enjoyed watching.

With all these films and TV shows, Tiffany Haddish has some great work to choose from. Hopefully, you've found a new show or movie to hyper-fixate on like I have. Now if you don’t mind me, I’m going to go and re-watch Girls Trip for the millionth time and laugh my butt off.   

Not all breakups have to be ugly, and frankly, it’s nice when two people can go their separate ways and still be able to keep mutual respect for each other, or even remain friends. But that seems to be the case for Common and Tiffany Haddish. While they broke up in November after dating for almost two years, they’ve both spoken very highly of each other publicly. And she even shared some sweet (and possibly familiar) words with him, as the rapper recently celebrated his birthday. 

Tiffany Haddish and Common met on the set of The Kitchen in 2019 and started dating during the COVID-19 lockdown. Despite no longer being together, Haddish chose to honor Common’s milestone birthday, as the rapper and actor turned 50 on Sunday. The Girls Trip actress posted a photo of her ex-boyfriend on Instagram with the message:

That’s a pretty nice message, especially from an ex, and Common seemed to appreciate the sentiment, or at least he was in on the joke, as he commented on the post, alongside a crying laughing emoji:

So what exactly did she do there? Back in December for Tiffany Haddish’s birthday, Common posted that exact message with a photo of her on his own Instagram. Some fans loved what they saw as a sneaky way to shade her ex, but she did add the “I hope you are Happy for 50 more years” portion. Petty or sincere — what were her motives? I guess that’s open to interpretation.

However, if there were true negative feelings toward each other, it’s doubtful that they would have chosen to acknowledge each other’s special days at all, and it’s so on brand for Tiffany Haddish to have found a funny way to sneak a jab into her birthday greeting, just like she cleverly addressed their breakup following her DUI arrest back in January. 

In the aftermath of their breakup Common called Tiffany Haddish “one of the best people I met in life” and said it was “probably the most mature relationship I’ve been in.” He attributed their break-up to their busy schedules, saying he thought they “weren’t feeding the relationship.”

Haddish responded to his breakup comments, saying that she was “very disappointed,” because that’s not what he’d apparently told her. She, in turn, said Common was maybe not the type to settle down with any person. She compared him to “a bee going from flower to flower to flower.” 

Whatever the cause, it's nice to see these two have been able to remain friendly on some level. They did seem to have a pretty special connection — this was the man Tiffany Haddish wanted to buy her an apartment building, after all.

Earlier this month, Tiffany Haddish was arrested in Georgia on DUI charges when she was reportedly falling asleep at the wheel while on the road one morning. The comedian and Girls Trip actress was only in police custody for a few hours before she posted a bond out of jail. That by itself is a bummer, but prior to that, Haddish went through a public breakup with Common and suffered a few major losses. And yet, here she is still having a sense of humor about the whole thing. 

When Tiffany Haddish appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote her Apple TV+ series The Afterparty, she was asked about her recent DUI. Here’s what she said: 

Tiffany Haddish sent Jimmy Fallon and his audience into rapturous laughter amid an awkward moment on the NBC series by keeping things light hearted in response to some unfortunate things going on with her life lately. The actress joked about her DUI perfectly, especially because it includes a reference of her breakup. She’s been praying for a “new” and “good man” after things didn’t work out between her and Common. 

Tiffany Haddish and Common met on the set of The Kitchen in 2019 before they started dating during the COVID-19 lockdown and quarantining together. After nearly two years together, the pair reportedly broke up in November 2021. Common has since shared that dating Haddish was the “most mature relationship,” but claimed that their love never really “dispersed.” Haddish has since responded to his breakup comments, saying that she was “disappointed” in what he said because it didn’t match his words to her in private. 

On top of the DUI and breakup, Tiffany Haddish recently lost her grandmother, who raised her, and Bob Saget, who she called a “father figure” to her. While on Fallon, the actress shared that she’s been processing a lot of “grief” at this time. 

Tiffany Haddish has a lot of exciting projects to come. She is leading Disney’s Haunted Mansion remake alongside Lakeith Stanfield and Owen Wilson, and the comedian is set to be part of a Girls Trip sequel now underway. She's also going to play late track and field star Florence Griffith Joyner in a biopic. In 2017, the road trip comedy Girls Trip became a smash box office hit, helping launch Tiffany Haddish as a breakout star in the process. That’s the type of success that you’d expect to land a sequel, and in the years since that first movie landed, it’s been talked about on and off. If you’ve been looking forward to packing your grapefruit and getting wild with the ladies again, you can rejoice, as Girls Trip 2 is finally happening. 

Announced by Will Packer, one of the producers of the original Malcolm D. Lee-directed blockbuster, the new film sounds like it's in the very early stages of development. Judging by these early remarks from Packer, it looks like not only is Ms. Haddish returning, but so are co-stars Jada Pinkett Smith, Regina Hall and Queen Latifah. As for what to expect in terms of their new destination, that’s not clear yet, but here’s what Will Packer told GMA about the project overall: 

It’s not a lot to go on, but a pandemic-influenced setting for Girls Trip 2 already sounds like it’ll be a laugh riot. Considering how one of the most memorable moments of the film is Tiffany Haddish’s Dina discussing the hygiene of one’s "booty hole," it’d be real interesting to see how her position on stashing drugs there has changed in light of this modern health crisis. Of course, it’s going to be hard for this sequel to top that scene, or even the infamous grapefruit moment we’re going to include below: 

What shouldn’t be difficult is turning this sequel into a bigger hit than its predecessor, which arrived at the box office as an unknown quantity back in 2017. Facing off against competition like Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk, as well as massive tentpole pictures like Spider-Man: Homecoming and War for the Planet of the Apes, Girls Trip opened in second place. Bringing in a total of $140.9 million, those grosses led to the movie making history as the first comedy of that year to break $100 million; as well as the first film to surpass that threshold with a female African-American screenwriter. As an established brand this time around, the girls aren't strangers to the world at large anymore.

Not everyone shares that viewpoint, as producer Will Packer has said from the start that the only thing harder than opening a comedy is opening a sequel to such a film. Girls Trip 2 may have taken some time to get up and running, but now that this announcement has been made, things are pretty hopeful. One thing that we can definitely tell you is that unless Ms. Haddish’s character has changed her outlook on pineapples, that’s one fruit you can definitely count out for the sequel. 

Girls Trip 2 is currently in development, with no firm production schedule or release date in mind. For more than 50 years, The Haunted Mansion dark ride at various Disney parks around the world has terrified and entertained millions of theme park attendees with its thrills, chills, and spills. The ride is so popular in fact it spawned a 2003 film adaptation starring Eddie Murphy. Since then, there have been multiple installments in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and other movies based on popular Disney attractions. But in that time there hasn’t been another Haunted Mansion movie. That will soon change.

What Is The Haunted Mansion Release Date

In addition to an assortment of upcoming superhero epics and returning action-adventure franchises, moviegoers will also be treated to a funny, spooky, and family-friendly horror comedy when Haunted Mansion is released theatrically on July 28th. 

In February, Deadline revealed that the movie, which was to come out in mid-August, was taking the place of the highly anticipated The Marvels, which was pushed back to its current release date of November 10th.

In March 2023, Disney released the first teaser trailer for Haunted Mansion, which featured all kinds of thrills and chills, references to the beloved ride on which it is based, and some of the A-listers who make up its impressive cast. Obviously, with this being a teaser, not a whole lot in terms of the plot is revealed besides the “family seeks spiritual help to take care of a ghost problem” angle, but this brief glimpse should be more than enough to figure out if you want to go see Haunted Mansion in July.

The Haunted Mansion Cast Includes Rosario Dawson, Owen Wilson, Tiffany Haddish, LaKeith Stanfield And Danny DeVito

When Haunted Mansion lands in theaters this summer, it will feature a rather impressive group of actors with years of experience in comedies, horror films, and family-friendly adventures. According to Variety, Rosario Dawson will be leading the Haunted Mansion cast as Gabbie, a mom who moves into a New Orleans estate with her young son, Travis (Chase W. Dillon).

Starring alongside the Ahsoka lead actress will be Owen Wilson as a priest named Kent, LaKeith Stanfield as a paranormal expert named Ben, Tiffany Haddish as Harriet, a French Quarter psychic, and Danny Davito as a college professor, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In the same Variety article mentioned above, it was revealed that the movie will feature references to the ride of the same name with characters like Jared Leto’s Hatbox Ghost and Jamie Lee Curtis’ Madame Leota. Winona Ryder, Dan Levy, and Hasan Minaj have also joined the cast, but their respective roles have yet to be revealed.

Haunted Mansion Follows A Woman And Her Son As They Attempt To Rid Their New Home of Supernatural Squatters

When Haunted Mansion lands in theaters this summer, it will follow Gabbie as she attempts to rid her new home of what Disney has called “supernatural squatters,” a clever way of saying ghosts. Not able to complete the task on her own, she will turn to a ragtag group of so-called spiritual experts to free her estate of the ghostly presence once and for all.

Haunted Mansion Is Directed By Dear White People’s Justin Simien

Taking on the directing duties for Haunted Mansion will be Justin Simien, the filmmaker, actor, and author, who is perhaps best known for the 2014 satirical dark comedy, Dear White People, a film he followed up with the Netflix series of the same name. That series ended its four-season run on the popular streaming service in September 2021.

The news was first reported back in April 2021 when publications like Variety announced that Simien had been tapped to lead the latest film project based on a popular Disney park attraction. This will be the first big-budget film production for the filmmaker, whose other credits include the 2020 Hulu horror comedy Bad Hair. At the time, it was also revealed that Katie Dippold, who wrote the 2016 Ghostbusters reboot, would be penning the Haunted Mansion script.

Jamie Lee Curtis Has Said Haunted Mansion Finds The ‘Sweet Spot’ Of ‘Scary, Funny, And Adventure’

Academy Award winner Jamie Lee Curtis is no stranger when it comes to horror movies (the Halloween horror franchise) and Disney remakes (Freaky Friday), and so you could say she is an expert on both. When speaking with Entertainment Weekly in October 2022, Curtis revealed that director Justin Simien and company found “the sweet spot” here, saying:

Curtis would go on to say that Haunted Mansion is “scary like a Disney Ride,” but also captures the humor of the classic theme park attraction. Though she couldn’t share all too much information about the movie when it came to specifics, the Oscar-winning Everything Everywhere All at Once star did say she has never worn costumes as beautiful as the ones she wore for the movie.

Guillermo Del Toro Was Previously Attached To Reboot The Haunted Mansion Franchise In 2010

The upcoming Haunted Mansion movie isn’t the first time Disney has attempted to reboot the series since the release of the 2003 film. In fact, Guillermo del Toro, the director behind The Shape of Water and Nightmare Alley, was planning a version of his own “truly scary” adaptation of the beloved theme park ride. The project was first announced at the 2010 San Diego Comic Con where it was revealed that the visionary filmmaker would write and produce the planned reboot. Several years later, in 2015, it was revealed that Ryan Gosling was in talks to lead the “supernatural family film.” However, those plans didn't work out over the years and set the stage for the current upcoming version.

While some romantic relationships in Hollywood manage to stand the test of time, more often than not we hear about the ones that didn’t work out. That said, Jason Lee then called that the “pc answer” and asked if Haddish was “angry” when he saw what Common had said about their break-up, to which she responded:

So apparently there’s some mixed messaging going on here if the public reason Common gave for his break-up with Tiffany Haddish isn’t what he’d privately discussed with the Girls Trip actress. Haddish wouldn’t share the words she and her ex-boyfriend specifically shared, so it’s unlikely we’ll ever learn the full story about the dissolution of their relationship. One thing is certain though: Haddish said she’s not done… being with famous men, if you catch my drift.

As far as their professional lives go, in addition to his continued musical endeavors, Common is set to appear in the comedy flick El Tonto and thriller film Alice, as well as star in the Apple TV+ sci-fi series Wool. Meanwhile, Tiffany Haddish is on deck to play Olympic athlete Florence “Flo Jo” Griffith Joyner in a biopic about the track star, and will also appear in the Haunted Mansion reboot, the Nicolas Cage-led The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, the comedy movie Easter Sunday and the Apple TV+ comedy series The Afterparty. There’s always the chance their lives could cross again in some kind of work setting, but the romantic chapter of their shared history is officially over.

Everyone, at least Apple TV+ subscribers, who wants to see how the raucous murder mystery at the center of The Afterparty plays out won’t have to wait all that long, as the new comedy series will land on the streaming platform at some point in January 2022. An exact date has not yet been announced at this time, but with Apple TV+ original series largely premiering on Fridays, there’s a good chance things will kick off for the show on the 7th, 14th, 21st, or 28th of the month. You can’t tell a murder mystery story without having a large ensemble cast of potential suspects (plus an eccentric detective), and luckily for everyone, The Afterparty delivers in that regard. When the series was first made official in late 2020, Deadline ran a story breaking down the major players who will be prominently featured on the upcoming series set at a high school reunion gone wrong. Tiffany Haddish will take on the role of Detective Danner, an investigator called in to get to the bottom of the show’s central murder case, alongside her partner Detective Culp, played by John Early.

Playing the potential suspects are Sam Richardson, as escape room designer Aniq; Zoë Chao as Zoe, a school administrator; Ben Schwartz as Yasper, Aniq’s best friend; Ike Bartinholtz steps in as Brett, a cocky former high school athlete; Ilana Glazer plays former valedictorian and class president Chelsea, Dave Franco takes on Xavier, drama-student-turned-famous-entertainer; and Jamie Demetriou portrays outcast, Walt.

The Afterparty Is A Murder Mystery Series Set During A High School Reunion

As the name suggests, The Afterparty takes place following a high school reunion, during which one of the former classmates — Dave Franco’s character if the trailer is to be believed — dies under mysterious circumstances that suggest foul play. Due to the nature of the death, Tiffany Haddish’s Detective Danner is called onto the scene to investigate the crime scene and attempt to figure out what happened and who is responsible. And you thought your high school reunion was awkward.

Each Of The Afterparty’s Eight Episodes Will Be Told From A Different Character’s Perspective

The murder mystery at the center of The Afterparty will be examined over the course of eight episodes, each of which will be told through the perspective of a different character. In a joint statement released by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the filmmaking pair explained that this setup gives them a “new and exciting way” to approach the whodunit genre:

Each of these eight episodes will be told in a different style and film genre that best matches the personality of the character featured in that specific chapter.

Phil Lord And Chris Miller Originally Came Up With The Idea Behind The Afterparty In 2013

We will soon see The Afterparty play out as an eight-episode murder mystery on Apple TV+, nearly a decade after Phil Lord and Chris Miller first dreamt up the idea, which was originally supposed to be a feature-length film and not a streaming series. Back in June 2013, Variety reported that Lord and Miller were in the process of making a comedy film by the name of The Reunion that would have been released through Sony Pictures (the same company behind the pair’s hugely successful 21 Jump Street). The movie, which would have been set at a high school reunion was originally going to be both written and directed by Miller, who would eventually end up writing and directing The Afterparty.

Chris Miller touched on the history of the long-in-the-works project during a November 2020 Instagram post to mark the official start of production on The Afterparty, saying that he had been working on the idea for the past decade.

Production on The Afterparty Wrapped In February 2021

Following a three-month production, principal photography officially wrapped on The Afterparty in February 2021, an occasion Chris Miller marked with another Instagram post, only this time it was a hand-knitted clapperboard. Miller was then several steps closer to seeing a project that was started nearly a decade earlier finally come to fruition.

The Afterparty Trailer Is Full Of Laughs And Accusations Of Murder

Apple TV+ subscribers got their first look at The Afterparty and its star-studded trailer ahead of the Ted Lasso Season 2 finale in early October 2021. What the one-minute teaser lacks in details and deep dives into each of the show’s characters it more than makes up for it with a steady stream of laughs and accusations of murder. Last year, many of us found ourselves spending a lot more time with ourselves and perhaps getting a little stir crazy about all the me-time. When one gets bored, sometimes the best thing to do is change up your hair, and Tiffany Haddish did that big time over the summer of 2020 when she straight up shaved her head.

The actress, who most recently starred with Oscar Isaac in The Card Counter, decided to cut her long hair and go bald back in July 2020, and she was ecstatic about the whole thing. Haddish recently opened up about what inspired her to make the change on an episode of Red Table Talk when Jada Pinkett-Smith, one of the hosts and Haddish’s Girls Trip co-star, decided to go bald as well. One of the hardest working names in not only Hollywood but the entertainment industry in general, Haddish has been on a role that never seems to lose momentum since the early 2000s, and even more so in recent years since becoming a household name with her turn in Girls Trip. With an Emmy Award-winning guest appearance on Saturday Night Live and a Grammy Award-winning comedy album (Black Mitzvah), Haddish has become a force to reckon with in today’s pop culture.

More recently, Tiffany Haddish showed her more dramatic side in The Kitchen, and extremely over-the-top side in Bad Trip, with much more to come in the very near future. The actress/comedian/writer will even star alongside Nicolas Cage in 2022’s The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.

Willem Dafoe (Major John Gordo)

Willem Dafoe shows up as the main antagonist in The Card Counter, portraying Major John Gordo, William Tell’s commanding officer who led a torture program at Abu Ghraib and allowed others to take the blame. Dafoe, a four-time Oscar nominee, has had one of those careers that has allowed him to portray everyone from Norman Osborn/Green Goblin in Spider-Man to Jesus in The Last Temptation of Christ, and appear in everything from the John Wick franchise to multiple Oliver Stone films. To say his filmography is diverse would be understatement of epic proportions.

Over the years, Willem Dafoe has also showed up on The Simpsons, voiced an original villain in the 2004 video game James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing, and provided voice work for a number of animated movies like Finding Nemo and Fantastic Mr. Fox. Oh, and he’s also been a part of the xXx franchise on top of that.

Tye Sheridan (Cirk)

Tye Sheridan appears in The Card Counter as Cirk, the son of another soldier under Major John Gordo’s command whose suicide leads the young man down a dark path with thoughts of revenge and murder. Sheridan, who has since gone on to portray Scott Summers/Cyclops in X-Men: Apocalypse and X-Men: Dark Phoenix, got his start in Terrence Mallick’s 2011 art house film Tree of Life before breaking out in the 2012 coming-of-age crime drama Mud.

In 2018, Tye Sheridan had perhaps his biggest performance to date with his portrayal of Wade Watts in Steven Spielberg’s eye-catching and pop-culture-riddled adaptation of Ready Player One. Sheridan will next appear in George Clooney’s upcoming directorial effort The Tender Bar.

Bobby C. King (Slippery Joe)

Bobby C. King, a prolific stuntman and actor, shows up in The Card Counter as Slippery Joe. Over the years, King has appeared on TV shows like CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and Hollywood, as well as movies like Easy A, Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation, and The Horde. With more than 100 credits for his stunt work, there’s a chance you’ve seen King put his life on the line in everything from Year One to X-Men: First Class and everything else in between.

Kat Baker (Sara)

Kat Baker, who appears as Sara in The Card Counter, has only been acting for a couple of years now, but that stretch of time has been extremely busy for the actress. Prior to landing a role in Paul Schrader’s crime noir, Baker appeared in The Protégé, Chick Fight, and Fatman. Baker is also set to appear in The Comeback Trail alongside Robert De Niro, Tommy Lee Jones, Morgan Freeman, and Zach Braff.

Dylan Flashner (Sergeant Hoskins)

Dylan Flashner portrays Sergeant Hoskins in The Card Counter, perhaps the biggest movie in the fledgling actor’s filmography to date. Prior to appearing in the 2021 crime drama, Flashner appeared briefly in movies like Lanksy, Asking for It, Vanquish, and Farewell Amor, all of which were released since 2020. Like Kat Baker, the Flashner will be in The Comeback Trail, though the film’s new release date has not yet been announced. Flashner also has a music career in addition to his acting work, including the 2021 single “Bad Habits.”

Billy Slaughter (Fiddle)

Taking on the role of Fiddle in The Card Counter is Billy Slaughter, who has shown up in dozens of movies and several other high-profile TV series for the better part of the past two decades. If you are a fan of the Netflix crime drama Mindhunter, then you will surely recognize Slaughter as Charles Sanders in the show’s second and possibly final season. With other credits on shows like Treme, Nashville, American Horror Story, and The Purge, there’s a good chance you’ve seen Slaughter on the small screen over the years, but if not there, then you’ve probably seen him in movies like The Magnificent Seven, Midnight Special, Happy Death Day, and The Big Short.

Alexander Barbara (Mr. USA)

Alexander Barbara shows up as Mr. USA in The Card Counter, continuing a decent run of movies and TV shows that is pretty impressive, to say the least. Even though his name is not as immediately recognizable as the bigger stars at the top of this list, Babara has appeared on shows like Stranger Things, For All Mankind, and Queen of the South, as well as movies like The Hunt, Triple 9, and The Fate of the Furious.

Amye Gousset (Judy Baufort)

Amye Gousset shows up in The Card Counter as Judy Baufort. Prior to taking on the role in Paul Schrader’s latest in a long line of crime dramas, Gousset appeared on TV shows like Army Wives, Dark Corners, Nashville, and, most recently, The Purge. Her film credits include titles like Battlecreek, Assimilate, and multiple shorts dating back to 2010. Gousset will next appear in the upcoming documentary The Past Is Never Dead: The Story of William Faulkner, and Mysterious Circumstances: The Death of Meriwether Lewis.

Adrienne Lau (Crystal)

Adrienne Lau appears as Crystal in The Card Counter, a rare acting gig for the popular music artist who became the first Chinese-American singer in the top 10 of the U.S. Pop Billboard Singles Chart with her hit song, “Wanna Be Happy,” in July 2006. Other songs released by Lau include “You’re the One” with Petey Pablo, “Hypnotic Love,” and “Olympics Beijing” from the 2008 Beijing Summer Games.

Joel Michaely (Ronnie)

Joel Michaely shows up in The Card Counter as Ronnie. Ever since making his on-screen debut in the 1998 teen comedy Can’t Hardly Wait, Michaely has appeared in movies like Ghost World, The Rules of Attraction, and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, to name just a few. His TV credits include Unhappily Ever After, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and Ryan Murphy’s Popular, which ran on The WB from 1999 to 2001.

Having starred as the TVA’s Mobius, Owen Wilson has now been brought onto Haunted Mansion to play undisclosed character. The actor known for roles in memorable comedies such as Wedding Crashers, Bottle Rocket and Starsky & Hutch was received with open arms in the MCU, and it’ll be exciting to see how he’ll fit into the studio’s mysterious take on the spooky Disneyland ride.

Word of Owen Wilson’s check-in to Haunted Mansion comes from The Hollywood Reporter, which is describing the movie as a whole as an “ensemble.” In the coming weeks, I’d expect some more casting announcements to follow Wilson's. For now, we know the filmmaker behind Dear White People and Bad Hair, Justin Simien, is directing the movie from a script by Katie Dippold, who previously penned The Heat and 2016’s Ghostbusters.

In late July, Tiffany Haddish and LaKeith Stanfield boarded the Disney movie at the same time. According to THR’s report at the time, Haddish was being eyed to play a psychic, whereas Stanfield would play a “lifeless” tour guide who has lost his wife and has suspicions of the supernatural world. The movie is going to film in Atlanta and be set in the French Quarter in New Orleans, which goes well with the attraction being set in Disneyland’s New Orleans Square.

At this point in time, there’s a wealth of characters Owen Wilson could take on, between being another resident in and around the Haunted Mansion, or a character who visits or moves into the supernatural household. But since he’s just the third actor to be cast in Haunted Mansion, I have an inkling he’ll play a large role in the film.

Disney did make a Haunted Mansion movie back in 2003 starring Eddie Murphy, but it was a flop overall for the studio, making far less earnings than the smash success Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl in the same year, along with being buried with negative reviews. The studio has been attempting to put together a remake for the ride for over a decade, with Oscar-winning director Guillermo Del Toro once set to make a film starring Ryan Gosling.

Haunted Mansion will be one of many movies to be inspired by rides from Disney Parks coming from the studio. There are also film adaptations in development based on Space Mountain and a sequel in the works for Jungle Cruise, along with whispers of a Tower of Terror movie and more Pirates of the Caribbean installments.

This weekend, Walt Disney Studios is finally getting back to unveiling big-screen movies based on their beloved theme park rides with the release of Jungle Cruise, starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt. At the same time, the House of Mouse is getting in line for a new Haunted Mansion movie, as it has reportedly cast two talented leads that have us ready to hitchhike with ghosts.

Tiffany Haddish and LaKeith Stanfield are the names being conjured up to front the upcoming Haunted Mansion movie that has been in development again since last August. The Girls Trip star and Oscar-nominated Judas and the Black Messiah actor are in “negotiations” to play a psychic and widower in the Disney live-action film, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Tiffany Haddish is apparently being eyed to play a psychic who is hired to commune the dead, whilst Stanfield will play a “lifeless” tour guide in New Orleans’ French Quarter who lost his wife and once had suspicions in the world of the supernatural. This Haunted Mansion movie is apparently not connected to the 2003 movie starring Eddie Murphy in any way.

Back in April, Dear White People and Bad Hair director Justin Simien signed on to direct the upcoming Haunted Mansion movie, and it looks like it’s moving right along. The movie is now gearing up to start rolling its cameras in Louisiana this fall. The setting is perfect considering Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion takes place in the theme park’s New Orleans Square section of the park.

The tone of the upcoming Haunted Mansion is still a little foggy after this recent casting news. Tiffany Haddish is known as a comedian, so there’s definitely sure to be some laughs in the Disney movie. Plus, Katie Dippold wrote the script following other funny works including The Heat, 2016’s Ghostbusters and Snatched. With LaKeith Stanfield on board, who also starred in Get Out, Uncut Gems, Sorry to Bother You and the FX series Atlanta, there’s also a sense that the project might have something more to say aside from foolish mortals running from ghosts.

Haunted Mansion is one of Disney’s most near and dear rides, as it is over 51 years old and still kicking. The ride first opened in California’s Disneyland in August 1969, and has also since opened in Orlando, Tokyo, Paris and Hong Kong. Back in 2010, Guillermo del Toro was developing a movie based on the time reportedly set to star Ryan Gosling, but the project was later dropped and sat on a dusty shelf until this recent new venture.

Before we can get on Haunted Mansion, Disney’s Jungle Cruise is hitting theaters and Disney+ Premier Access this Friday, July 30. The studio is also developing a Space Mountain movie, Tower of Terror movie and more Pirates of the Caribbean movies. If only our Fast Passes worked outside the parks for these exciting projects.

We all love our streaming services, and one that has been around since the dawn of the streaming service era is Netflix. While we can all spend our time watching some of the best shows on Netflix, or even streaming the best movies on Netflix, I think it’s time we take a look at some of the other genres that the service has to offer – some awesome comedy specials.

Namely, we are going to be looking at some hilarious comedy specials from people of color on the platform, such as Kevin Hart, Russell Peters, and so many others. While there are some great stand-up comedy specials on Amazon Prime, we need to take a glance at what Netflix has to offer, so here we go.

Tiffany Haddish: Black Mitzvah

Tiffany Haddish is one of those actresses where you know her name and has seen several of her amazing and hilarious movies, such as Girls Trip. However, I, for some reason, always forget that while her projects are amazing, she’s also a hysterical comedian.

In Tiffany Haddish: Black Mitzvah, Haddish goes all in on some great comedy, talking about how you can feel safe if you feel danger is around, her drinking habits, and so many others with a funny twist. You’ll surely be laughing your butt off with this comedian’s first Netflix special.

Dave Chappelle: Sticks & Stones

As far as I'm concerned, Dave Chappelle is a legend when it comes to comedy. We all know his name, from his time doing Chappelle’s Show, or even his films from The Nutty Professor to having a part in A Star is Born. But Netflix and Chappelle have a special connection, considering he signed on for a deal with the streaming platform, so far releasing five comedy specials for Netflix.

One of his best, in my opinion, is Dave Chappelle: Sticks & Stones. There’s just something so raunchy about his comedy that makes him one of the best comedians out there right now – and in my eyes, one of the best of all time. From talking about the current state of politics to raising a child, Chappelle covers all of his tracks in Sticks & Stones and will have you holding your side from laughing.

Kevin Hart: Zero F**ks Given

If you don’t know who Kevin Hart is, you must be living under a rock because he has become one of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood. The comedian, who started out with specials like Laugh At My Pain and Let Me Explain, became a worldwide household name when he starred in big-time films such as Jumanji, Ride Along, Get Hard, and so many others. Sometimes you almost forget that he’s a comedian with how many films this Kevin Hart has done.

One of Kevin Hart’s best stand-ups, in my opinion, is his latest, called Kevin Hart: Zero F**ks Given. In this special, he brought in a small group of people into a comedy-club-sized room, creating an intimate space instead of a giant arena after the COVID-19 pandemic began. I don’t know, there’s just something so nice about this compared to some of his other specials. There’s still some great comedy like normal but it’s nice to see him in a smaller space.

Russell Peters: Almost Famous

Moving on, we take a look at Russell Peters. Fun fact – he was actually the first-ever stand-up comedian to receive a comedy special on Netflix (back in 2013), so that’s how you know he’s important. This Canadian stand-up comedian has done plenty outside of the comedy realm, such as roles in New Year’s Eve and even a voice role in The Jungle Book. However, his comedy is where it’s at.

For his pick, we’re going with Russell Peters: Almost Famous, where he returns back home to Canada, talking about his life and his tour across the world, speaking about some of the things he has gotten to witness while doing so, and honestly, it’s so funny. One of his best comedy specials to date, in my opinion. You won’t regret carving out an hour to view this film.

Gabriel Iglesias: One Show Fits All

Gabriel Iglesias has and will always be one of my favorite comedians. Otherwise known as “Fluffy,” Gabriel Iglesias is known for his quick-wit stand-up comedy while also making some of the best sound effects you’ll ever hear. While he’s had some success in the movie and TV realm, with roles in films such as Magic Mike and Coco, as well as his own sitcom for a bit, his stand-up specials are some of the best out there.

For his pick, while there are so many to choose from, I’m going with Gabriel Iglesias: One Show Fits All. In this special, he talks about his family, meeting crazy celebrities, Hollywood shenanigans, and everything else in-between. If you haven’t seen any of his specials, give this one a shot. I promise you, you’ll be crying from laughter after listening to some of his stories.

Trevor Noah: Afraid Of The Dark

I’m sure that at some point in your life watching comedy specials, you have heard of Trevor Noah. Known as the host of The Daily Show on Comedy Central, Trevor Noah is known for his great commentary and jokes that he delivers on the satirical news show. But just because he does that doesn’t mean that he hasn’t done some awesome comedy as well.

In Trevor Noah: Afraid of the Dark, the popular satirical news anchor gets candid about his life with his audience in New York City, talking about how he’s always dreamed of doing a show in the city, and how it has all led up to this moment, following his dream – along with some funny jokes mixed in there as well.

Ali Wong: Hard Knock Wife

Ali Wong is freaking hilarious and she needs to get more notoriety for her specials. Wong has done plenty in the entertainment world. She’s had roles in Always Be My Maybe as well as a current role in American Housewife, and even wrote for the first three seasons of Fresh Off The Boat. But her stand-up comedy is truly where she shines.

In Ali Wong: Hard Knock Wife, the comedian talks about her family and her husband, her sudden success in the industry, and everything else that has come into her life. To me, it’s one of the best specials Netflix has to offer. Everyone should go and watch this, regardless of your comedic style. I assure you, Ali Wong will be able to make you laugh.

George Lopez: We’ll Do It For Half

I, like many other people my age, grew up watching George Lopez, the ABC sitcom that became extremely popular. Besides that, George Lopez has done so much in the film and TV world, with roles in The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl, Valentine’s Day, The Smurfs, Rio, and so many others. But like many comedians on this list, his stand-up comedy is second to none, especially his Netflix special.

In George Lopez: We’ll Do It For Half, Lopez returns back to his stand-up roots, talking about his heritage as a Latino, his hilarious family, their own issues, and so many more. As someone who grew up watching George Lopez, he doesn’t miss in his first Netflix special, with all of the jokes landing no matter what. I mean, it’s George Lopez. He’s hilarious. What more can you expect?

Sam Jay: 3 In The Morning

While not as well known as some of the other comedians on this list, Sam Jay is still just as amazing as the others in terms of his comedic style. While she hasn’t done anything acting-wise, Sam Jay is a current staff writer for Saturday Night Live and has performed on Comedy Central Stand-Up Presents, so you know she has some serious jokes that will make you snicker.

In her first Netflix special, 3 In The Morning, Sam Jay talks about her life with her girlfriend, navigating her sexuality, and the most important part – why it’s always important to lock the door while showering. Marlon Wayans: Woke-ish

Again, to me, Marlon Wayans is one of those comedians that I feel I have seen everywhere in Hollywood, from comedy specials to movies to TV. Some of his most notable roles were playing Shawn Wayans on The Wayans Bros, parts in Scary Movie and its sequel, White Chicks, Norbit, and a dramatic role in the film Requiem for a Dream. Talk about a man with some range. He even had his own TV series, titled Marlon, for two seasons.

Marlon Wayans has also done some comedy specials in his time, and one of his best on Netflix is Marlon Wayans: Woke-ish. In this stand-up comedy special, Marlon Wayans talks about how he feels he’s “woke-ish,” he’s “young-ish,” he’s “dad-ish,” and so many other ish’s that it’s hard to keep track. We all feel like we’re a little “ish” sometimes, and that’s how Marlon exactly feels right here, mixed in with some hilarious stories.

Sometimes, we really just need to laugh after a long day of work or just life in general. These comedians are the best way to provide that to you. If you pick any one of these awesome specials, you’ll have a smile from cheek to cheek, no matter what.

Sometimes, certain names in Hollywood invoke a sense of unpredictability. Tiffany Haddish and Nicolas Cage both fall into that category. So the stars acting together in a film may look strange, but it makes sense on paper. Cage and Haddish will appear in the satire The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. But things didn’t go so smoothly at first, according to the actress. This led to Haddish revealing the NSFW reason she was initially "intimidated" by the Oscar winner.

Given Nicolas Cage’s on and off-screen persona, it would be easy for anyone to be intimidated. But Tiffany Haddish has always appeared to be a formidable force in her own right. According to her, acting alongside the Oscar winner caused the usually energetic Haddish to no be on her A-game. The Girls Trip star said about the awkward moment:

Despite the public’s perception, Nicolas Cage does come off as a serious artist about his craft. Tiffany Haddish’s mental distraction may have appeared to be unprofessional to someone of Cage’s caliber. With the ongoing tension between her and Nicolas Cage, the Bad Trip star decided to reveal a very intimate story. Of course, Tiffany Haddish isn't afraid to reveal embarrassing moments. So she broke the tension by spilling her long-held secret to the Oscar winner. When discussing the story with NPR, she said:

Well, that's certainly one way to break the ice but, based on Tiffany Haddish's comments, it was necessary. The actress further admitted to NPR that Unbearable Weight forced her to tap into some serious acting. That added to the pressure of working with the Oscar winner, despite the fact that she'd been in films such as The Kitchen and Here Today. Haddish revealed that as part of her acting process, she needs to connect with her co-stars on a personal level, which led her to reveal her past experience in the movie theater.

Thankfully for her though, things seem to have worked out for the best. Tiffany Haddish recalled that after she dropped the revelation, Nicolas Cage laughed at her story and that it ultimately helped the two to carry on with filming. So who says a NSFW memory can't help one get over a mental block? Hopefully, this translates into better chemistry between Cage and Haddish in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, which arrives in theaters on Apr. 22, 2022.

The last year was transformational for a lot of people and a lot of lifestyles in a lot of different ways. Now, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent and Girls Trip star is sharing the first look at what her 50 lb weight loss looks like in a bikini, along with how she got there.

Everyone should feel comfortable in swimwear as summer kicks off, but Tiffany Haddish is particularly excited about sharing her summer look after a 50 lb weight loss. The star, who recently said she was trying to get back to her “high school” weight, also took to Instagram this week to rock out a bikini.

I don’t know if Tiffany Haddish has hit her goal weight yet, but she looks great. The actress shared a few months back that she had done a 30 Day Transformation Team routine to start to jumpstart her journey. On the exercise front, she mentioned in an interview with Extra that she started with short bouts of cardio like beach running, but then amped things up considerably and she did it in a unique way: via VR.

It sounds kinda of fun right? Apparently, Tiffany Haddish is so into the app to the point where she says multiple times a day she gets in the mood to get back in it. She also says that her partner, actor and rapper Common, totally thinks this way of working out to keep her weight down is “hilarious.”

Tiffany Haddish also admits the app helps her to get her heart rate into the 170s and she doesn’t really seem to care that Common finds it amusing. Probably because the results have helped her to get to a point where she’s happy, healthy and chilling in swimwear with cutouts.

It’s worth noting that Haddish has also been super open about her weight loss journey, what she weighed when she started (around 182 lbs) and the journey she’s gone through to get in shape. The reason she’s been so candid? Tiffany Haddish previously explained that by being open about how she dropped the weight and how she’s feeling now that, “Maybe that inspires some other people to get their shit together.” It’s certainly inspiring me.

Tiffany Haddish has become one of Hollywood’s go-to stars since making a huge splash in 2017’s Girls Trip. Since that time, Haddish has shown her range as an actress, in everything from prestige dramas to animated blockbusters. It appears the actress is ready to take another big step in her film career. Haddish is stepping in the footstep of an Olympic legend in a new biopic.

According to Variety, The Girls Trip star will play the late track and field star Florence Griffith Joyner, affectionately known to her fans as Flo-Jo. Along with starring in the biopic, Tiffany Haddish will produce the film through her company She Ready Productions. The Flo-Jo-centric film is more of a passion project than just a role for the actress-comedian. She named the late gold medal Olympian as one of her childhood idols.

Following the biopic’s announcement, Tiffany Haddish talked about her love for the late track and field star. She even expressed wanting to bring Florence Griffith Joyner’s story to a new generation. The Bad Trip star said about her hero:

The late Florence Griffith Joyner served as a game-changer in track and field. She popularized the sport of track and field through her record-breaking Olympic run. Griffith Joyner brought attention to the sport through her flashy personality and style. Her Olympic records from the 1988 Seoul Olympics haven’t been broken since they were set three decades ago. Unfortunately, the Olympic legend died in 1998 at age 38 from an epileptic seizure.

But Tiffany Haddish is set to keep Flo-Jo’s legacy alive. Compared to her previous roles, the comedic actress has thrown herself into doing Florence Griffith Joyner’s story justice. Haddish is currently being trained by Joyner’s widower and coach Al Joyner to prepare for the physically demanding role. Joyner is training the actress with the same methods as his late wife. In addition to training the actress, Joyner will serve as a producer and creative consultant on the upcoming biopic.

Game1 CEOs Basil Iwanyk and Greg Economou will join Tiffany Haddish and Al Joyner as producers on the project. She Ready Productions’ Melanie Clark is also attached as a producer on the Flo-Jo biopic. Thunder Road Pictures’ Jonathan Fuhrman will serve as an executive producer with Game1 EVP of Production Therese Andrews will oversee the upcoming film.

But the celebration of Florence Griffith Joyner doesn’t just stop with just a biopic. Game1 and Tiffany Haddish are set to partner on some companion projects connected to the Olympic legend, including a documentary series and a Flo-Jo-centric podcast. Hopefully, with this news, Haddish will finally bring Flo-Jo the credit she deserves after securing her own legacy.

Billy Crystal’s Here Today is the kind of movie that you really want to like. In addition to the fact that it’s been 20 years since we’ve seen Crystal direct (his last effort being the excellent 2001 HBO baseball drama 61*), the multitalented filmmaker/actor remains as charming as ever in front of the camera, and he finds a wonderful new on-screen partner in Tiffany Haddish – with whom he shares some sweet chemistry. What’s unfortunate is how much heavy lifting that desire ultimately has to do. As funny and emotional as it can be in its best moments, the material at times feels tonally confused, and due to rote plotting that is overstuffed with the familiar, it never digs deep enough to make you walk away with more than an appreciation for its characters and its basic messaging about family and memory.

Giving the star a perfect chance to be basically play an extension of his charming and clever self, Here Today features Billy Crystal as lauded comedy veteran Charlie Berns. After a decades-long and award-winning career, Charlie works as a senior writer on a sketch series called This Just In, plays regular tennis games with his architect son (Penn Badgley), and tries to be the best grandfather he can be despite having a cold relationship with his daughter (Laura Benanti). What none of his colleagues or family members know, however, is that he has been diagnosed with dementia, which means that he is not only slowly losing his memories, but also that he occasionally forgets where he is and the people he is talking to.

Where things take a twist for Charlie is when he encounters Emma Payge (Tiffany Haddish), a young woman who has no idea who he is, but winds up having lunch with him because of an auctioned meet-and-greet that was won by her ex-boyfriend. A shellfish-related incident results in Emma needing to be rushed to the emergency room, and while for a moment the protagonist writes it off simply as a strange encounter, that notion is thrown out the window when she becomes insistent that he let her pay him back for the hospital bills (say what you will about America’s horrible healthcare system, at the very least it continues to be a great conflict-generator in movies and television).

Enjoying the new presence in his life, Charlie starts to get close with Emma – though doing so gives her the opportunity to peek behind the curtain of his life and learn the truth about what he’s dealing with. While this is distressful for him at first, it also means that she can try and help him, specifically with a book that he wants to write about his late wife, Carrie (Louisa Krause), before all of his memories of her fade away.

While Here Today shows a lot of promise in its story, it doesn't quite work as well as it should.

Co-written by Billy Crystal and Alan Zweibel (and based on Zweibel’s short story “The Prize”), Here Today is a tremendously earnest film in that it clearly possesses an ambition to give audiences a greater understanding of what life can be like for individuals dealing with similar conditions, and the empathy with which it’s made is a wonderful thing. It’s a sweet movie that never feels saccharine or manipulative… but it is also hampered by the fact that it is remarkably simple and exactly what you think it is.

As delightful as Charlie and Emma are together, their unexpected friendship doesn’t exactly expand on the trope, and instead just plays out all of the beats you’d expect from the generation gap setup (from the awkward question of romantic entanglement, to the question of whether or not she should put her own ambitions on hold for him). And if you’re already predicting some kind of hidden tragedy and guilt involving his late wife, then you are right on the money.

The real knife twist, though, are all of the interesting avenues that Here Today sets up but then never journeys down. Early in the film, Charlie remarks that he first became a writer because when he was younger he liked taking the truth and turning it into something more interesting – and while that seems like it would be a fascinating thing to dovetail with a story about memory loss, nothing ultimately comes of it. Later there is a scene where the head writer of This Just In (Max Gordon Moore) is put in a position to defend Charlie’s place on the staff given his legendary history, and while you think it’s going to lead to some kind of behind-the-scenes professional conflict, the movie instead winds up veering in a totally different and more confusing direction involving an on-camera eruption.

Here Today's tone doesn't always quite click with the story being told.

While I won’t specifically detail what happens in that eruption for spoiler reasons, it’s a scene in Here Today that also highlights another significant issue, which is the movie’s occasionally disjointed tone. The movie does, for the most part, know when to play things light and when to play things dark, but there are moments where it mixes up its signals, and it’s hard to tell what it’s going for. The teased outburst is the most significant example, but the same could also be said about a scene where Charlie is on a stage for a Q&A with Barry Levinson, Sharon Stone, and Kevin Kline (all playing themselves) and he begins to forget their names. The problem never gets so bad as to undermine the overall tenor of the film, but it does make it spotty.

With Charlie Berns having a personality and comedic background akin to Billy Crystal’s, Here Today doesn’t exactly provide a vessel for a big, showy performance from the star (save for the occasional vacant, middle-distance stare), and Tiffany Haddish is very clearly cast to be her brash, vivacious self – but just because the material doesn’t quite challenge the actors doesn’t detract from it, and the duo have fun, natural chemistry that lends verisimilitude to their friendship. The cynical part of your brain may tell you that these two individuals wouldn’t spend time together, but Crystal and Haddish click with their very different styles, but clear knowledge of funny. Their banter is the highlight of the movie, as their voices mesh well, and while the dialogue does at times seem hampered by the aimed-for PG-13 rating, the film gets its laughs without cursing or going blue.

The greatest worry going into a movie like Here Today is the concern that the sweetness and the heartfelt drama will leave audiences in diabetic coma, and that’s a line that the film walks well thanks to its dynamic stars and sharp comedic sensibilities (nearly half a century into his professional acting career, Billy Crystal’s timing remains as impeccable as ever). The movie is also let down by its messy script that falls short of making the full impact that it is clearly going for. It’s cute and passable, but also a movie that you won’t be able to identify from its title alone in a year’s time.

Eric Andre has constantly pushed boundaries. From his wild late night talk show on Adult Swim to his stand-up performances, he knows how to keep his audience’s attention. Eric Andre’s new prank movie extravaganza Bad Trip on Netflix has gained praise for how hilarious it is, though it would be a tall task to outdo Seth Rogen in his admiration of the movie.

In the past, Seth Rogen is clearly a fan of the prank comedy genre and has not been shy about his love of Borat 2, so it’s fitting he responded to Bad Trip and Eric Andre’s new entry into the prank movie pantheon. Rogen took to Twitter to rave about Eric Andre’s new film citing how wild the movie is and how stunned he was by Eric Andre’s performance and commitment to the craft.

If you have seen Bad Trip, you know the level of commitment it takes to pull off something like Eric Andre and his co-stars Lil Rel Howery and Tiffany Haddish did. It’s easy to see why someone like Rogen, a comedy star in his own right, responded so passionately about a film in which the cast had a knife pulled on them while filming. The commitment to comedic excellence did not go unnoticed by the Pineapple Express star and newly minted marijuana business owner.

Eric Andre’s style is hard to pull off, and even the best-planned pranks can fall apart, so Bad Trip’s success can be attributed to a talented cast and an insane visionary like Eric Andre. It’s nice to see other comedy giants like Seth Rogen gushing over creators that they respect.

Bad Trip has been one of the most exciting movies released in March, even in a month chock full of new releases. Eric Andre’s bold foray onto the big screen has provided the movie world with a much-needed no-holds-barred comedic experience. Hopefully, this means we will see even more ridiculous and boundary-pushing projects in the future.

If you’ve been on a road trip before, you probably know driving cross country lends itself well to a mixed bag of odd circumstances and strange characters along the way. But what about a road trip hidden-camera movie starring Eric André, Lil Rel Howery and Tiffany Haddish? Well, a Bad Trip happens. Behind the scenes, one of the comedians’ pranks ended with a knife in the middle of it all.

Not unlike Borat Subsequent Moviefilm or 2013’s Bad Grandpa, the Eric André Show host plays Chris, who is best friends with Get Out star Lil Rel’s Bud, and the movie follows the pair as they get caught up in some cross-country antics. The storyline sets up the real pranks Eric André and Lil Rel pull on people throughout the film, but one got especially risky. During one prank, Andre and Lil Rel walk into a barber shop to prank the business by pretending their penises are stuck together in a Chinese finger trap and it led to the owner actually pulling a knife on them. As André described it:

Yeah… they went there. While the movie was filming, with a number of hidden cameras watching the exchange, the Atlanta barber grabbed a nearby knife and chased them with it as they fled. Eric André told USA Today that he feared for his life one moment, and then realized it would only help the movie’s intensity. But, Lil Rel was so spooked by the interaction that he nearly quit the film because of it. In Howery’s words to LA Times:

Lil Rel Howery came around and decided to continue, but he was understandably concerned. You never quite know how a random bystander is going to react to a crazy prank. Eric André, on the other hand, has been pulling pranks for years on his Adult Swim anti-talk show The Eric André Show. The series has gotten the 37-year-old arrested and he has sustained multiple injuries for TV laughs. In fact, Bad Trip was almost safer for the comedian this time around because he used stunt doubles and knee pads for the first time. Check out the red band trailer:

For all that she can be hilariously loud, brash and R-rated as hell, Tiffany Haddish has definitely also been capable of delivering some quiet and emotionally poignant moments throughout her career. The latest instance is also perhaps the greatest one, as Haddish was in the midst of filming new episodes of CBS' Kids Say the Darnedest Things when she was stunned to learn that she'd just won the Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album. And that reaction was as priceless as they get.

In a video she shared on Twitter, which she presumably secured the rights for from CBS and others, Tiffany Haddish gave fans a first-row look at her shocked reaction to learning that she can now be called the "Grammy-winning comedian and actress" anytime she's introduced by anyone in the future. Check out this absolutely adorable video below, which marks the rare instance where a Kids Say the Darnedest Things host is cuter than the kids themselves.

One might think it would always be an idea time to learn that one won a prestigious award, but I think Tiffany Haddish's situation offers up a good counter-argument for times where it's still awesome, but not necessarily perfect. While Haddish was in the midst of speaking two young Kids Say the Darnedest Things subjects about award nominations, one of the show's producers attempted to prompt her to tell the kids that she'd just won a Grammy. And that's the point when Haddish's on-screen persona dissolved into her real-world disbelief that what she was hearing was real. And lest we all forget, this is the woman who had her catchphrase "She Ready" shaved into the back of her head.

Because this obviously isn't the typical way celebs discover they've won Grammys, Tiffany Haddish is 100% justified for taking as long as she did to fully come to acceptance that her Black Mitzvah beat out Jerry Seinfeld, Bill Burr, Jim Gaffigan and Patton Oswalt to take home the award for Best Comedy Album. Of course, once she did start to grasp it, she got all teary-eyed as she told her new li'l friends, and one of them had the best reaction to it, too, saying 'Y'all go pick it up!'

With this Grammy win another notch in her belt of personal wins over the past year or so, Tiffany Haddish shared part of the video on Twitter, gave her fans a longer cut of the video on YouTube, and also provided a little context behind the sudden discovery, and why she kept the convo going with the kids in such a way.

Congratulations to Tiffany Haddish becoming the first Black comedian to win the Best Comedy Album Grammy since EGOT queen Whoopi Goldberg took home the gold in 1986 for the original Broadway recording of her self-titled show/album. Now it'll be fun to wait for Kids Say the Darnedest Things to debut on CBS so we can watch the episode where this big announcement came up while waiting for her animated series Tuca and Bertie to be fully resurrected on Adult Swim, which picked up the acclaimed comedy after Netflix cancelled it.

Spongebob Squarepants has been around for more than twenty years, with the lighthearted sponge and his band of sea friends bringing smiles and joy onto the faces of kids and adults alike. There have been many specials, a couple of spinoffs planned, and even a broadway musical dedicated to the sponge. But one thing that seems to have happened a good amount lately is movies, including the latest one. 

However, there is more to the cast of The Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run. While we are sure to hear some familiar faces, there will be plenty of guest cameos and spots that fans will love to see, from Keanu Reeves to Awkwafina. With so many characters, it might be hard to keep up, so this is who you should know about in the upcoming Spongebob Squarepants movie.

Tom Kenny - Spongebob Squarepants and Gary the Snail

Everyone knows the man, the myth, the legend, Tom Kenny. He will be returning to the character of Spongebob Squarepants in The Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run. Tom Kenny, who has played Spongebob from the beginning of the series, has also had some prominent voice-acting work, with main roles in Adventure Time, playing the Ice King, and the Narrator/The Mayor in The Powerpuff Girls.

Bill Fagerbakke - Patrick Star

Patrick is the best friend we all want and has been Spongebob’s best friend from the moment the series began – even if he is a bit of a goofball sometimes. Bill Fagerbakke, who has played Patrick since the beginning of the series, will be reprising his role in The Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run. Bill Fagerbakke has also lent his voice to many TV shows, such as The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Dragon Tales, Kim Possible, and several others in guest roles and additional voices.

Rodger Bumpass - Squidward Tentacles

I feel like we’ve all become a Squidward at some point in our lives, but Rodger Bumpass has been Squidward for a good part of his own. Squidward Tentacles is the longtime neighbor of Spongebob who always seems to somehow get pulled into the yellow sponge’s hijinks – even though he doesn’t want to be. Rodger Bumpass will be reprising his role in The Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run. Rodger Bumpass himself has been busy in the voice world, with voice parts in big-time films such as Spirited Away and Monsters University, plus more.

Clancy Brown - Mr. Krabs

Now for another long-timer, Mr. Krabs is the greedy crab who owns the Krusty Krab, who is always looking to make a quick buck. Clancy Brown, who has voiced Mr. Krabs since the beginning, will be reprising his role in The Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run. Clancy Brown has had some prominent roles both in voiceovers and live-action, with parts in Thor: Ragnarok, The Shawshank Redemption, portraying Lex Luthor in the DC Animated Universe, and even stepping into the video game world voicing Hank Anderson in Detroit: Become Human.

Mr. Lawrence – Plankton

There always needs to be an antagonist in every show, and Plankton most certainly fits that bill. Plankton is the foil to Mr. Krabs. Owner of the Chum Bucket, he will do whatever it takes to somehow snatch away that Krabby Patty formula. Mr. Lawrence, who has voiced Plankton since the show’s first season, will be reprising his role in The Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run. Mr. Lawrence has had several voice roles, including multiple in Camp Lazlo, the voice of Filburt in Rocko’s Modern Life, and also a couple of other characters on Spongebob Squarepants, like Potty the Parrot, Larry the Lobster, and several others.

Jill Talley – Karen

Ah, Karen, the sassy wife that any married couple can relate to. Karen is the computer that Plankton is married to, and while their marriage can sometimes be rocky due to Plankton’s consistent need to grab the formula, she will always be there to support him. Jill Talley, another voice actor who has voiced the role since the first season, will be reprising her role in The Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run. Jill Talley has also had several voice roles, including a role in Adventure Time as Maja and several parts in Camp Lazlo.

Fun fact: Karen was actually named after the wife of the creator of Spongebob Squarepants, Stephen Hillenburg. Also fun fact, Jill Talley is actually the real-life wife of Tom Kenny! Talk about being a part of the family business.

Carolyn Lawrence - Sandy Cheeks

The squirrel from Texas with a brain about the size of her home, Sandy Cheeks is the smartest critter under the sea. With her mind, there’s no problem she can’t solve. Carolyn Lawrence, who has voiced Sandy since her debut, will be reprising the role in The Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run. Besides Spongebob Squarepants, she’s had multiple voice roles outside of the show, including playing the main role of Cindy Vortex on The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, and a guest role on The Fairly OddParents.

Mary Jo Catlett - Mrs. Puff

Let’s be honest – all of our parents were Mrs. Puff when we first started to drive, absolutely terrified, but that doesn’t change the fact that she’s a great character. Mrs. Puff, the best pufferfish around and Spongebob’s boating instructor, will be appearing in The Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run, along with her long-time voice actress, Mary Jo Catlett. Besides Spongebob Squarepants, Mary Jo Catlett was once very active in the theater scene, starring in musicals and plays like Hello, Dolly! and Diff’rent Strokes. Stephen Hillenburg himself actually sought out Catlett once he saw her perform on stage specifically for the role of Mrs. Puff, so there’s more to this pufferfish than you know.

Matt Berry - King Poseidon

While we’ve seen some versions of King Poseidon before, we’ve never seen one quite like this. King Poseidon is the ruler of the sea, and half merman to boot. In The Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run, he will be portrayed by Matt Berry. Berry was actually in another Spongebob Squarepants movie, Sponge Out of Water, but as a different character, Bubbles the Dolphin. Matt Berry has also had roles in The IT Crowd, Disenchantment, What We Do In The Shadows, and more.

Awkwafina - Otto

As one of the many new characters in this film, Otto is a welcome addition to the Spongebob Squarepants family in The Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run. Otto is actually Spongebob’s personal boat driver – because, you know, Spongebob can’t drive, even more than twenty years later. If only Mrs. Puff could see how far tech has come. Otto is played by Awkwafina, who is most known for her roles as Ocean’s 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. She will also have a starring role as Sisu in the upcoming Disney movie, Raya and the Last Dragon.

Keanu Reeves – Sage

You know him, you love him, and now, he’s appearing in Spongebob – as a tumbleweed.

Yes, you read that right. The great Keanu Reeves is appearing as Sage in The Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run, a sage piece from a sagebrush who is there to provide aid to Spongebob and his crew on their journey to try and find his pet snail, Gary. While this is most certainly one of the stranger roles Keanu Reeves has done, that doesn’t mean he still doesn’t have plenty of other movies as well. Reeves, who has been in hits like The Matrix, John Wick, and Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure will only add onto his list of films with this new installment to the Spongebob Squarepants series – albeit a little weird.

Snoop Dogg - The Gambler

The famous rapper and music producer Snoop Dogg will be lending his acting skills in The Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run by portraying The Gambler, a performer who is putting on a show at a Bikini Bottom club. While Snoop Dogg is definitely known more for some of his music and hits, he has had multiple film and TV roles, such as Pitch Perfect 2 and Dolemite Is My Name. He also has this great cooking show with Martha Stewart, titled Martha and Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party, so if you want to learn to cook some fire recipes, head on over to the coolest pairing in television cooking history (in my opinion).

Danny Trejo - El Diablo

Moving on with the list of cameos in The Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run, Danny Trejo is next up to bat. Danny Trejo is going to be portraying El Diablo, the leader of the Flesh-eating Cowboy Pirate Zombies. While the title of that does seem a bit dark for a children’s movie, I’m sure that somehow it will be made fun and lighthearted for the kids seeing this film. Danny Trejo is more known for his multiple roles in the film and TV industry, including Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy, Rob Zombie’s Halloween, and several more – seriously, the man has been all over Hollywood. You will have seen him at some point or the other, which shows how awesome of an actor he truly is.

Tiffany Haddish - Master Of Ceremonies

Make way for a queen of comedy, because Tiffany Haddish is picking up a role in The Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run. Tiffany Haddish portrays the Master of Ceremonies, otherwise known as Tiffany Haddock, a fish who has a knack for talent. Tiffany Haddish is well-known for her roles in the movies Girl’s Trip and Night School but has had a couple of voice roles as well in The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part and Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against the Universe.

Reggie Watts - Chancellor

While a brief role in The Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run, the Chancellor, a character who is sure to bring on trouble for everyone’s favorite sea creatures when. The talented comedian and musician most certainly has plenty of work under his belt, but is more well-known for his part in the IFC series Comedy Bang! Bang! and also leads the house band for The Late Late Show with James Corden. But seeing him break out onto the big screen, even if the role is a bit smaller, is always great to see.

With all these stars and alumnus of the show coming back, The Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run will surely be full of fun for the whole family to enjoy. Be sure to check it out on Paramount+ when it premieres.
