Major spoilers ahead for 9-1-1 Season 9, Episode 13, “Mother’s Boy,” streaming now with a Hulu subscription.

Following last week’s crossover between 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Nashville, Buck and Eddie tried to make their way back to Los Angeles in the latest episode of 9-1-1 on the 2026 TV schedule. Unfortunately, they ran into some trouble while out on the road, and even though they both made it out alive by the episode’s end, it won’t go away so easily. The show’s boss said there will be a fallout between them in upcoming episodes, and I have a theory about this that I don’t like.

What The Showrunner Had To Say About Buck And Eddie

In the episode “Mother’s Boy,” Buck and Eddie decided to road trip from Nashville after their flight was canceled. After getting lost, they went to a diner to ask for directions, only to be run off the road later, with Buck getting kidnapped by the waitress at the diner and her husband, who is the cook. Co-creator and showrunner Tim Minear, who also wrote the episode, told TVLine just how intense it was and how it affected both Ryan Guzman and Oliver Stark's characters:

Eddie did save Buck and vice versa before it was too late, and the two of them were able to drive off to finish the last 10 hours of their road trip. Even though they seemed to be fine, albeit still in physical pain from the crash and everything in between, this won’t go away so easily. Minear shared what will be next for Buck and Eddie as they move forward, and his comments are troubling:

“Fallout” is definitely an interesting word to describe what is coming up for Buck and Eddie. And this does not sound good, especially knowing how they can react to certain trauma. With a handful of episodes left of Season 9, there is a world of possibilities as to what could happen.

The Theory About Buck And Eddie I Don’t Like

Obviously, Buck and Eddie have been through a traumatic ordeal, Buck especially. Add on news of his parents’ divorce, and he is dealing with a lot. Buck was already throwing himself into his work following his parents’ news, so it can be assumed he will be doing that and more once he’s all healed up and back on the job. Eddie will probably do the same, as they’re both known for wanting to focus on other things than what’s actually bothering them.

If I'm right, that means they could also close themselves off from each other and the rest of the team if they refuse to talk about what happened. Or they could get angry about what happened and start blaming each other. Then there’s also the psychological effect. Nightmares, trouble sleeping, maybe even hallucinations, especially for Buck.

All around, I don't think anything good is going to come of this, which is why I don't love the theory I've developed. However, I fear this is the road we're headed down.

It’s hard to predict what will actually happen and how this situation will affect both Buck and Eddie, because when it comes to 9-1-1, you never know what could go down. It’s clear, though, that this will impact them (and Buddie's future) moving forward. Fans will just have to see how in new episodes airing on Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

Plenty of TV and movie characters have been shipped by fans over the years and, as of late, I'd argue that few are as romantically linked by viewers as Buck and Eddie from 9-1-1. Fans' hopes have only been increasing as the ninth season of the first-responder drama airs amid the 2026 TV schedule. Devotees have been wanting the two to get together since Eddie was introduced in the second season, but the show’s boss shared an honest take on the relationship. And the comments may be disappointing to some people.

“Buddie” is arguably one of the most popular ships in current TV, and with 9-1-1 nine seasons in, it’s hard to tell if it will ever actually happen. Buck actor Oliver Stark recently weighed in on the relationship, saying that he doesn’t know what will happen, but is happy to go wherever the story goes, even if it is in that direction. Unfortunately, the comments showrunner Tim Minear recently shared with The Washington Post suggest a romance may not necessarily be in the cards:

Needless to say, I can understand why those comments would "piss people off," as the EP says. As someone who has been rooting for Buddie since Season 2, I can say I’m not exactly pleased with what Minear said. That's in great part due to the fact that there have been perfect opportunities for a confession to happen, and Buck’s potential feelings for Eddie have been brought up on numerous occasions.

At this point, it does seem harsh to basically be stringing fans along for something that may or may not happen, especially since there’s never any guarantee that 9-1-1 is a lock for a new season.

It’s clear that Buck and Eddie care for each other, and it’s hard to imagine them not being in each other’s lives. As a viewer, I found it hard when Eddie was in Texas and, since the character's return, fans hoped his dynamic with Buck would finally change. More recently, though, it seems like there are barely any scenes featuring the pair together this season and, whenever they are, those moments are brief. What this could mean for them moving forward, especially as Eddie’s romantic prospects heat up, is unknown.

At the very least, it's comforting to know Buck and Eddie are still in each other's general orbit. Plus, Stark and Guzman will be appearing together in the upcoming crossover with 9-1-1: Nashville. It should be interesting to see Buck and Eddie in Tennessee and working alongside 113. Specific the crossover have not been revealed, so there's still plenty of room for fans to speculate.

Regardless of the uncertainty regarding Buddie, there's still a lot to look forward to on 9-1-1 as the season continues. The series has proven to be unpredictable, meaning there are a plethora of possibilities for the beloved characters. Fans who want to see what happens should tune in for new episodes on Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC, streaming the next day with a Hulu subscription.

I feel like it’s going to take some time before 9-1-1 fans are truly over the major character death we witnessed in the latest episode to air on the 2025 TV schedule. Despite the characters of Ryan Murphy’s creation regularly finding themselves in harrowing situations, nobody foresaw original cast member Peter Krause’s Bobby being the one killed off. In fact, Angela Bassett said when the call came to inform her, she thought Athena was about to die.

The devastating loss of the 118 fire captain came at the conclusion of the series’ two-part “Contagion” event. Angela Bassett confirmed to THR that showrunner Tim Minear gave her and Peter Krause a heads-up that Athena was losing her husband Bobby Nash, and the news came as quite a shock, as she said:

Given all of the challenges Athena has been through in the past couple of seasons alone — the Season 7 cruise ship crisis, both Athena and Bobby nearly dying in a house fire and this season’s plane crisis, for example — it’s not hard to imagine why Angela Bassett would be concerned about Athena Grant-Nash.

However, even after Tim Minear told her Athena was safe, the Emmy-winning actress didn’t suspect she was losing her on-screen spouse. She continued:

That’s certainly also true of Kenneth Choi, aka Chimney, who described “sobbing uncontrollably” after watching Bobby’s death — despite having been there when it was filmed. I’m sure this is hard for both the actors and their characters to comprehend (not to mention the viewers), and it will be really interesting to see how Athena copes, as well as everyone who depended on him at the 118.

I think this should serve as a warning to fans, though, that no one is safe.

At the beginning of Season 8 — following the plane emergency that had Athena piloting the craft after a mid-air collision — Tim Minear let us get comfortable regarding Athena and Bobby’s fates, saying, “I think for Bobby and Athena, they can breathe a sigh of relief for a moment,” and turning our focus toward what Eddie (Ryan Guzman) was facing.

That sigh of relief is officially over, so we’ll all take a week or two to come to terms with this loss before checking back in on Athena when 9-1-1 returns at 8 p.m. ET Thursday, May 1, on ABC.

Spoilers ahead for 9-1-1 Season 8, Episode 11, “Holy Mother of God.”

9-1-1 just served up some serious drama this past week. Since Season 2, many have been wanting Oliver Stark’s Buck and Ryan Guzman’s Eddie to get together and, when Buck came out last season, it seemed like it could actually happen. Now that Eddie has moved to Texas, though, Buck is having a tough time dealing with it. The latest episode to air amid the 2025 TV schedule delivered a vital conversation between Buck and Maddie about the whole situation, yet there was a deleted moment that the showrunner is pissed he didn’t include.

On Thursday’s episode, “Holy Mother of God,” Buck was having trouble staying occupied and finding new friends with Eddie gone. With that, he invited Ravi out to the bar though, in time, Ravi sought to leave. Miraculously, he spotted Buck’s ex-boyfriend, Tommy, and that allowed Ravi to dip. After spending the night together, Tommy told Buck he wanted to try things again, jokingly saying that the competition was out of the way. This led to Tommy suggesting that Buck was in love with Eddie and Buck denied it, leading him to have a conversation with his sister.

Maddie also wondered if Buck was in love with Eddie, leading Buck to deny it again. Maddie told Buck it wouldn’t be far-fetched if that were the case, Buck didn’t get why everybody wanted him to be swooning over his straight best friend. Interestingly enough, all of that material wasn't included in the first version of the scene. Tim Minear told TVLine that more was meant to be said between the siblings, with the comments harkening back to Buck’s first relationship on the show -- and I really wish this would've made the cut:

To be fair, Tim Minnear was faced with a tricky creative decision, but I absolutely understand why he's kicking himself about it now. If there had been mention of the fact that Buck moved into Abby’s house and stayed there for months after she left, it would have added a whole new layer to the conversation. Especially since Tommy brought up the fact that Buck was living at Eddie’s house or, rather, taking over his lease.

It took Buck a while to come to terms that Abby wasn’t coming back, and perhaps that’s why it took Buck so long to really settle into Eddie’s place. In short, he just wasn’t ready.

At the very least, it’s likely this will not be the last conversation that Buck has with his sister about the whole Eddie situation and the feelings he may or may not have. Maddie seems to know her brother better than anyone, and it wouldn’t be surprising that if Buck does admit to having feelings for Eddie at some point, Maddie would be the one he'd confess them to first.

There are still several episodes of 9-1-1 Season 8 left, and I wager there are still some surprises in store. Since Ryan Guzman hasn’t officially left the series, it’s likely it’s only just a matter of time before Eddie returns from Texas for some reason or another, or maybe Buck ends up heading to the Lone Star state. Regardless, I'm excited to see what pans out!

Spoilers ahead for 9-1-1 Season 8, Episode 9, “Sob Stories.” Read with caution!

9-1-1 finally returned on the 2025 TV schedule to continue Season 8, and it also continued a major cliffhanger. Ever since the midseason finale last year, I have been as concerned as ever about Ryan Guzman’s Eddie leaving for Texas to be closer to his son, Christopher. The midseason premiere made that fear even more real, and EP Tim Minear’s latest comments up my worries tenfold.

In Season 8, Episode 9, “Sob Stories,” Eddie’s move to Texas was getting serious as he was doing showings of his house that were sabotaged by Buck, who wound up taking over the lease and putting a down payment on a house. Although Guzman has not officially said if he's exiting or not, Minear told EW that fans “should worry” that Eddie is leaving the 118 and moving to the Lone Star State:

Considering Eddie has left the 118 before when he became a dispatcher to spend more time with Christopher, it’s possible that this could just be temporary. However, no matter what, it seems like some sort of big move is now inevitable. While much of the 118 was supportive of Eddie’s decision, I’m like Buck, because I do not want him to go.

As of now, it’s unknown how long this storyline will continue, but unfortunately, it seems like the outcome is obvious. Eddie has not been doing well since Christopher moved to Texas to stay with Eddie’s parents after Christopher caught him with a doppelganger of his dead mom. It really felt like it was only a matter of time before Eddie couldn’t take it anymore, and knowing that his son was adjusting well to Texas, he knew what he needed to do. Even though I think this makes a lot of sense, and I want him to be with kid, it does not mean I like it.

At the very least, with Eddie in Texas, it should be interesting to see how the 118 moves forward. Buck has been taking the move especially hard and even let it slip on purpose at the firehouse that Eddie was moving before he told anyone else. Although Buck seems to accept it at the end of the episode, it probably won’t be easy when he eventually has to say goodbye. And it doesn't help that he's probably still dealing with his breakup with Tommy.

Whatever happens with Eddie and his move to Texas, it will surely be an entertaining storyline to watch and maybe even a tough one. Eddie has been an important part of the 118 since joining in the second season, and whether temporary or permanent, he’s definitely going to create a hole when he leaves. Fans will just have to tune in on Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC to see what happens. Spoilers ahead for the 9-1-1 fall finale, “Wannabes.”

9-1-1’s fall finale has come and gone on the 2024 TV schedule, and it left some questions that fans will keep fans curious heading into the new year. One of the biggest questions concerns a possible impending exit that will surely affect Buck moving forward while trying to get over his breakup with Tommy. To that end, showrunner Tim Minear addressed what will happen when the show returns on the 2025 TV schedule.

In “Wannabes,” Eddie once again tried to get Christopher home by promising him an autograph from Brad from the show Hotshots, only Christopher asked about shipping it. He was later looking at houses in El Paso to be closer to his son, and Buck found out right before he had a virtual meeting with a realtor. Buck immediately showed support and volunteered to help him find a place, even if it meant losing his best friend.

While things may be calm on the outside, however, Minear told TVLine that things are shaking up within:

There are a lot of changes going on with Buck, and now, instead of just worrying about keeping his mind off of Tommy, he has to worry about saying goodbye to his best friend. While Eddie has left the 118 before a few seasons ago, again to spend more time with Christopher, Buck was still able to hang out with him and be there for him. But with him moving states, Buck is going to be pretty lonely.

Buck's relationship with Eddie and Christopher is an important one, and not being around them is going to be hard. Not to mention the fact that he made a point a while ago about how people are always leaving him, such as his parents and Abby, now Tommy, and Eddie. It'll weigh on his mind quite a bit, according to the showrunner, who said:

Buck has been doing a lot of baking to get his mind off of Tommy, and while he will likely take up something else once Eddie leaves, there’s only so much he can do to keep somewhat sane before he really does break and comes to the realization that basically, two of the most important men in his life left him. That being said, could Buck find his way back into the dating pool and move on?

Tim Minear shared the odds of that happening, and it sounds pretty good:

As always, 9-1-1 is going to be crazy and unpredictable when it returns in the new year, and it sounds like there will be a lot to look forward to. Even if it means that Buck will be going through it, but he’s always going through it, so that’s not really anything new. He’s just going to be going through it without his bestie.

There is no telling what will happen when 9-1-1 returns on March 6, but at least the wait will definitely be worth it. In the meantime, those with a Hulu subscription will be able to watch all eight seasons now and catch up before the series comes back in 2025.

Spoilers lie ahead for 9-1-1 Season 8, Episode 7 of 9-1-1, “Hotshots.”

9-1-1 Season 8 has been moving right along on the 2024 TV schedule and, as per usual, it’s been giving some characters some pretty tough challenges, both personally and professionally. Athena Grant-Nash, in particular, has already been through a lot in these first several episodes, starting with the plane emergency that was enough to keep someone on the edge of their seat. Following the police sergeant’s most recent struggles, showrunner Tim Minear got real about Angela Bassett’s reaction and, at the same time, he eased a concern I had about the character's future.

What Does Angela Bassett Thinks Of Athena’s Struggles?

It just seems like Athena can’t catch a break. On the latest episode, “Hotshots,” the patrol sergeant was running after a suspect and wound up sustaining a leg injury. Considering all that Athena has been through, between losing her fiancé, being assaulted, getting mixed up in the cruise ship disaster, enduring that house fire and so much more, one might think that Angela Bassett would rather not play a character with endless struggles and complications. However, Minear told TVLine just what the actress really thinks about the storylines, and it’s so true to who Athena is:

I don't know how other fans feel, but I would much rather not have Athena constantly going through some kind of issue. Nevertheless, at least the actress who portrays her doesn’t really mind. In all honesty, we should probably expect nothing less from the Oscar nominee, who's portrayed plenty of raw and vulnerable characters in her time. One could also point out that Athena's various problems do contribute to interesting stories.

Will Athena Retire From The Force?

Despite everything mentioned above, what isn’t entertaining is the notion of Athena possibly retiring in the near future. I couldn’t stop thinking about that happening amid the latest episode, since she isn’t as limber as she once was. Luckily, Tim Minear revealed during his recent interview that as of right now, he has not talked with Angela Bassett about Athena retiring. In fact, the EP is even eager to have the character be part of another sting operation.

Of course, as the seasons go on, it wouldn’t be surprising if the series were to start really foreshadowing a character or two retiring or at least considering it. It's honestly hard to imagine Athena doing anything other than being a police office. For right now, though, I’m glad that I don’t have to worry about that prospect any time soon.

9-1-1 is unpredictable, so much so that a bee-nado turned into a plane emergency. If anything, though, it would seem that fans should rest assured that, as issues arise, Athena will be on hand to help in any way she can for the foreseeable future. 9-1-1's fall finale airs this Thursday, November 21 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC and will be streamable on the next day with a Hulu subscription.

9-1-1’s Season 8 opener on the 2024 TV schedule put Peter Krause’s Bobby and Angela Bassett’s Athena through the wringer (once again). Athena was truly in danger, as she was on a plane that was crashing and had to land it. Bobby, on the other hand, was on the ground and worried as ever, but he managed to clear a highway so she could land. After the craziness of those first few episodes, one of the show's executive producers shared some comforting words about them, but I’m still worried about another character.

It's no secret that both Bobby and Athena have been through a lot in the first six seasons and even more at the beginning of Season 7. Between Athena losing her fiancé and Bobby losing his wife and kids, both of them have had near-death experiences on more than one occasion. (Also, seemingly every mode of travel is cursed for them, based on the plan and the cruise ship situation.) If you ask me, they deserve nothing but happiness moving forward. Luckily, co-creator Tim Minear told Entertainment Weekly that the fire captain and police sergeant will be dealing with a lot less stress, at least for now:

Considering everything the couple has been through, I am definitely relieved to know that, for the time being, they should be okay and not knocking on Death’s Door. 9-1-1 is truly unpredictable so, while it's likely that they'll run into more issues at some point, this period of time should serve as a solid reprieve for Athena and Bobby.

Nevertheless, while Tim Minear’s sentiments are making me feel better when it comes to the couple, I'm still not so sure about Ryan Guzman’s Eddie Diaz. Eddie still isn't feeling 100% after his son, Christopher (Gavin McHugh), opted to leave him at the end of Season 7 to stay with his grandparents in Texas. Minear spoke to Diaz's mental state amid his chat with EW:

As a fan, it's been hard seeing the impact that Christopher's departure has had on Eddie. So far, he's even tried to video call Christopher for his birthday and, while he does talk to him, Christopher still does not want to chat much after Eddie’s shocking decision to pursue romance with a doppelganger of his dead wife. Calls involving children and their parents have also been affecting Eddie as of late, and it’s certainly been heartbreaking to witness While Eddie’s situation may not be life or death like Athena and Bobby's, it still hurts, and I remain concerned about what might lie ahead for him.

Since it’s still early in Season 8, it’s hard to say how Eddie's storyline will progress, but I have a feeling he's headed for a rough patch. It’s been clear since he first joined the 118 that Christopher is his whole world and, the longer he’s away, the harder it's going to be for Eddie. Considering everything he's been through, I'd peg Eddie as an emotional time bomb, and it's difficult to say what might happen when he goes off. Tim Minear is playing coy on what lies ahead for Eddie but did tease that we'll learn what prompted him to grow that mustache.

My concerns for Eddie and Christopher are likely to persist as 9-1-1 Season 8 continues. Still, I'lll also try to dwell on the positive fact that Athena and Bobby are in the clear for a little while. Of course, fellow fans who want to see how everything pans out for all of the characters will just have to tune in to new non-Beenado episodes of the show on Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

9-1-1 has made quite a splash since hopping over to ABC from Fox for its seventh season, treating fans to a “huge spectacle” of a cruise ship crisis in its premiere episodes for the alphabet network. Now the series prepares to celebrate its 100th episode, and it will do so with a crossover of sorts with The Bachelor. As for how the surprising pairing came about between the first responder drama and the long-running reality dating show, it turns out we have Jennifer Love Hewitt to thank.

When ABC announced it was saving 9-1-1 from cancellation by taking it off of Fox’s hands, further crossovers between that series and its spinoff 9-1-1: Lone Star (which will remain on Fox) became unlikely. The firefighters of the 118, however, still found a show to team up with, though their appearance at the iconic Bachelor Mansion was far more unexpected. 9-1-1 showrunner Tim Minear said one specific Bachelor superfan helped to make that happen, explaining to EW: 

Jennifer Love Hewitt was shown in the live studio audience during the finale of The Golden Bachelor, which saw Gerry Turner get engaged to Theresa Nist. She definitely seemed invested in the love story, reacting dramatically to the episode’s emotional turns. Her ties to the franchise actually go back way further than that, too, as she was rumored to have dated Ben Flajnik — one of many Bachelor contestants who remained famous after the show — before he became the lead in Season 16.

Tim Minear said after JLH’s suggestion, he reached out to The Bachelor, which was filming Season 28 with Joey Graziadei, and they loved the idea as well. The co-creator continued:

The episode, titled “Buck, Bothered and Bewildered” certainly looks like a lot of fun, not just for fans of both ABC series but for The Bachelor’s Joey Graziadei — whose season just ended with a proposal and historic Bachelorette announcement — and host Jesse Palmer, who are both seen in the preview (embedded below): 

How very meta that even within the 9-1-1 world, The Bachelor is a thing, and it looks like Jennifer Love Hewitt’s Maddie Buckley is a big fan too! If you want to see how it all goes down, 9-1-1’s 100th episode will air at  8 p.m. ET Thursday, April 4 on ABC and can be streamed the next day with a Hulu subscription. 

9-1-1 is arriving on ABC with a cruise disaster next month, and the thought is somewhat nerve-wracking. With a show like the first responder series, drama is inevitable and, in recent seasons, it seems like no character can stay happy for long without an emergency, family problems relationship issues or something else coming up. Maddie and Chimney have had a complicated relationship and a lot of drama, though their situation started to get back to normal after Maddie’s postpartum depression. Now, a new update on the couple ahead of the Season 7 premiere is giving me hope for them. 

It's no secret that Maddie Buckley and Howard "Chimney" Han have had their share of problems, both as a couple and as individuals. With the two now looking forward to their long-awaited nuptials, one would suspect that more obstacles could arise. This is 9-1-1, after all, and the last wedding the franchise delivered was nearly postponed due to a murder. Luckily, it sounds like their path to the altar will be smooth sailing, as showrunner Tim Minear shared during the Television Critics Association winter press tour (via TVLine):

That could possibly be the best news to come ahead of the new season yet. It's been emotionally draining to watch all that they've been through thus far. So the notion of wedding planning and the actual ceremony happening with no problem overall seems like a dream. That likely doesn't mean that there won't be ANY sort of pitfalls, as there needs to be some kind of conflict to keep the story interesting. Nevertheless, what I'm hearing from Tim Minnear has me feeling optimistic about the characters' futures.

With 9-1-1’s move to ABC, it's hard to say exactly what fans can expect. From the looks of the trailer, the Ryan Murphy-produced series will still be as intense as ever and start off with a true bang. I'm expecting some major thrills and thoughtful character growth to stem from the cruise disaster opening.

The Season 6 finale highlighted some storylines that definitely need to continue this year. Aside from Madney’s road to marital bliss and Bathena’s disastrous honeymoon cruise, there are some other characters that must be focused on. While some would hope to see Buck and Eddie’s relationship turn into something more, the two have other personal loyalties to tend to. We also can't forget that Hen and Karen are taking in a baby girl. (As long as that doesn’t turn into another Nia situation, where they grow close to the child and lose her, I am all for it.) But let's hope that the characters get some form of happiness as it seems Maddie and Chimney will.

Luckily, it won’t be long until 9-1-1 makes its ABC debut, as the show returns on Thursday, March 14 at 8 p.m. ET as part of the 2024 TV schedule. And fans will also be available to stream new episodes using a Hulu subscription.

Spoiler alert! This story contains spoilers for 9-1-1: Lone Star’s May 9 episode, “A House Divided.”

Fans were warned that trauma was coming for the 9-1-1: Lone Star firefighters before Season 4 came to an end, and in the final episode before the finale, we saw that promise come to fruition. Judd’s son Wyatt, the young father-to-be who was in training to follow his dad’s footsteps in becoming a firefighter, was hit by a car while riding his bike, and while he survived, his injuries were extensive, and showrunner Tim Minear spoke about what this means for Judd’s family and how this “changes everything” going forward. 

The incident came at the end of an episode that saw Judd (Jim Parrack) and Tommy (Gina Torres) engaged in a pretty serious (and, honestly, sometimes hilarious) spat, after Tommy disobeyed a direct order on a call, and Judd — who was acting captain in Owen’s absence — reported her to HR. After Wyatt’s accident, that’s all water under the bridge, as the whole 126 will rally around Judd and his son. Tim Minear spoke to EW about what’s to come for the firefighter, saying: 

It sounds like they’ve got a long and emotional journey ahead — one that we’ll likely see more of when 9-1-1: Lone Star returns to Fox for Season 5. This was a pretty devastating thing to happen to Judd, as we’ve seen him and Wyatt (Jackson Pace) get to know each other more, after the first responder only learned of Wyatt’s existence in Season 3. The proud papa boasted in this episode that his son’s training was actually going really well, and that there were already fire stations wanting to hire him when he graduated. I'd say that's unlikely to happen now.

Tim Minear said that while putting these characters through this “felt real, and it felt right, and it felt surprising,” the plot also served a practical purpose in how the Fox drama would handle Wyatt becoming a firefighter. The showrunner explained:

With Tarlos’ highly anticipated wedding finally coming in next week’s season finale, I don’t know how much of an update we’ll get on Wyatt’s condition, but I think we can all prepare ourselves for drama of some sort. Is there still more trauma to come for the 126? Check out the preview for the two-hour Season 4 finale: 

Sure, everybody looks wonderful and happy and ready to see TK (Ronen Rubinstein) and Carlos (Rafael L. Silva) finally say “I do,” but nothing is ever that easy on 9-1-1: Lone Star, right? And the way Owen (Rob Lowe) says it’s a “perfect moment” just has me feeling uneasy. Were the results of his Huntington’s test REALLY negative?

9-1-1: Lone Star is finally going to answer fans’ prayers, as T.K. and Carlos -- who are affectionately known as Tarlos -- are set to have their wedding in the Season 4 finale. The two got engaged in the Season 3 finale, and they've been on quite the emotional roller coaster in the lead-up to the big day. (Something that contributed to the drama was the Carlos and Iris marriage twist at the beginning of the season.) While things are looking up for them now, showrunner and co-creator Tim Minear teased some strife amid their nuptials. He also discussed how he's handling the plethora of fan expectations. 

Tim Minear spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the upcoming season finale of the Fox first responder drama, which will be a mix of action and sheer emotion. It was already easy to assume that it would feature a wedding to remember, but Minear has now confirmed that something big will indeed happen at some point. And it doesn't sound like it's going to be all that good for the characters. He's what he said about the Tarlos' imminent walk down the aisle:

Since this is the season finale, it’s a given that a big emergency would happen to shake things up. Tarlos has dealt with obstacle after obstacle since the start of their relationship. On the one hand, I'd love for their big day to go off without a hitch, but I snafu could also make things interesting story-wise. I'd expect the events of this episode to send shockwaves that'll be felt during the upcoming fifth season of 9-1-1: Lone Star. I'm curious but also hopeful that the "tragedy" won't damage the couple -- or anyone else -- too deeply.

There's definitely a lot riding on this episode, considering that fans have been waiting for the wedding for some time. Tim Minear promised that the ceremony itself will be an affair that gives fans all the feels. However, he's still aware that he's just not going to please everyone. When it comes to meeting fans' expectations, the producer said:

One would assume that Tim Minnear and co. have put a lot of thought into how they want this all to play out. With that, I'm confident they'll deliver something that manages to please, at the very least, a reasonable portion of the fanbase. The challenges T.K. and Carlos have faced as well as all the drama they've been engulfed in has led to this. There are still plenty of questions going into the installment, but I fully expect to cry before the episode ends. Fellow fans may also want to have some tissues next to them while watching what could be a serious sob fest. 

The two-hour season finale of 9-1-1: Lone Star airs Tuesday, May 16 at 8 p.m. EST as part of the 2023 TV schedule. With so much real estate time-wise, this season capper could definitely pack a serious punch.

Rob Lowe has said that the opportunity to bring real heroes to life is what makes 9-1-1: Lone Star special, but surely not too far down on his list would be that his brother Chad Lowe has become part of the team. The younger Lowe has directed four episodes of the Fox drama, and last season he took a turn in front of the camera, as we were introduced to Owen Strand’s half-brother Robert. Chad reprised that role in “Donors,” but it wasn’t the happy family reunion everyone was hoping for; Owen’s half-brother delivered some news that could have a devastating effect on the fire chief and his son T.K.

After a dinner between the two Strand brothers, T.K. (Ronen Rubinstein) and Carlos Reyes (Rafael L. Silva), Robert revealed that he’d been diagnosed with Huntington’s disease, a neurodegenerative disease that was causing involuntary movement of his hands and some memory loss. He told Owen their father had been diagnosed with it too, and it was possible that he and T.K. also carried the gene. This dealt a serious blow to the first responders, and co-creator Tim Minear elaborated on what this means for the Strand men’s future, telling EW: 

As if Tarlos hadn’t dealt with enough big problems leading up to their wedding (and over the course of their relationship, really), now the couple is faced with the possibility that T.K. inherited this gene. It looks like we’ll get more of this story in next week’s episode, “A House Divided,” as the official episode description says, “Owen awaits news that could change his and T.K.'s lives forever.”

Tim Minear pointed out that Robert’s diagnosis is tragic for Owen on several levels, as we learned in Season 3’s “Shift-Less” that Owen had another brother who died when they were kids. The showrunner also discussed having the Lowe brothers sharing the screen again, saying: 

Yes, I definitely think what Owen needed this season were MORE complications. After, you know, he caved in his girlfriend’s husband’s chest and nearly died in a domestic terrorism plot. I wonder what this means for Chad Lowe’s future as Robert and if we can expect to see his telepathic relationship with his brother on-screen in episodes down the line.

Spoiler alert! This story contains big spoilers for the April 4 episode of 9-1-1: Lone Star’s Season 4 episode “Double Trouble.” Consider yourself warned!

Early in Season 4 of 9-1-1: Lone Star, creator Tim Minear promised some “cross-pollination” between the Austin, Texas, series and its West Coast flagship, if not a giant crossover. Fans got that in “Double Trouble,” as Julian Works pulled double duty as both Mateo and his “twin cousin” Marvin. The episode ended in tragedy, though, with Marvin losing his life in a wreck after stealing another car, and a huge secret about Mateo's past was brought to light. The trauma isn’t over yet, either, as Works teased more rough times to come in the 126 firehouse.

“Double Trouble” kicked off with Mateo getting a FaceTime call from his cousin Marvin, who was asking for bail money after being arrested again for grand theft auto. While Owen (Rob Lowe) cautioned Mateo against enabling his cousin’s life of crime, Nancy (Brianna Baker) was quick to Venmo her boyfriend upwards of $24K (because, sure, we’ve all got that cash lying around). However, only hours after Mateo sent the money, he received a call informing him that Marvin had been killed in a wreck. 

It was a tragic way for 9-1-1: Lone Star to tie up that loose end. Julian Works had portrayed Marvin on 9-1-1 in a Season 2 episode before being cast as Mateo in the spinoff. While fans had hoped to see the two worlds collide again — after the 118 helped their Texas counterparts with a raging wildfire in Season 2, and 9-1-1’s Athena (Angela Bassett) was involved in a mini-crossover last season — this was likely not the crossover they were hoping for.

Only after Marvin’s death did we learn exactly why Mateo felt so indebted to his cousin, as the show used a Patty Duke-esque sitcom format to relay the transformative event that had shaped both cousins’ lives when they were 13. It turns out Mateo had snuck out one night and burned down his middle school. To keep Mateo from getting deported, his identical cousin Marvin took the fall and was sent to juvenile detention. That led to a life of crime that ultimately resulted in his early demise.

Owen helped Mateo see that his actions as a firefighter proved Marvin’s sacrifice wasn’t in vain, and from what Julian Works told TV Insider, his character is not going to be able to dwell on the past for too long. Speaking to what’s still to come for the 126, the actor revealed: 

The crew has already been through so much this season, with Carlos (Rafael Silva) being held hostage by a serial killer, Owen getting involved with a domestic terrorism case and Marjan (Natacha Karam) being saved from a murderer by a hallucination of her younger self. One can only imagine what traumatic events are yet to come for the Austin first responders. And God help them if they mess with that Tarlos wedding we’re all waiting for!

Spoiler alert! This story discusses the 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 4 episode “This Is Not a Drill,” which aired February 28. Proceed with caution!

For all of Season 4 so far, we’ve known there was something big brewing around the Honor Dogs motorcycle club that Owen Strand found himself associated with. 9-1-1: Lone Star threw in plenty of red herrings for viewers — I’m still not sure I believe Ty O’Brien was innocent the whole time — but in the end it turned out there was just one bad apple trying to spoil the whole bunch. While Owen may have saved the city of Austin as a whole, there were still casualties, and co-creator Tim Minear explained why one character in particular “had to go.”

FBI agent Rose Casey unfortunately died in an explosion set off by Mikey (Richard Meehan), the Honor Dog who Owen (Rob Lowe) and Judd (Jim Parrack) saw get branded in the season premiere. Mikey ended up being the mastermind behind the domestic terrorism threat the FBI was investigating, and while the bar explosion took the lives of nine federal agents and even more Honor Dogs, Agent Casey was the biggest loss in viewers’ eyes. There was apparently a reason it had to be that way, and Tim Minear told EW: 

So, basically he’s saying Owen can’t have nice things? While it seemed like the fire captain was more a thorn in Casey’s side than anything, their banter was pretty amusing, and by dangling the potential for more interaction between the characters, 9-1-1: Lone Star ensured emotional stakes by the time the plot reached its conclusion. Minear continued: 

Saying goodbye to Agent Casey means saying goodbye to Amanda Schull, one of two Suits vets recurring in Season 4 and thus reuniting with Gina Torres. The other is D.B. Woodside, who will return as Tommy’s new love interest Trevor Parks in next week’s episode, “Tommy Dearest.” At least somebody can have nice things!

9-1-1: Lone Star Season 4 premiered last week and, as you would expect, fans are anxious to see what storylines are on the horizon. One of the biggest questions, of course, has been whether or not the 126 will, at some point, cross paths with the 118 from the parent series again. Amid the uncertainty that fans have expressed over the matter, showrunner Tim Minear has dropped some thoughts on the future of his first-responder drama.

The first big crossover between 9-1-1 and Lone Star aired two years ago and saw the 118 take a drive to Texas to help out with a raging wildfire. The episode included plenty of notable moments, with one being T.K.’s assumption about Buck’s sexuality. Last season, there was also a mini crossover on Lone Star that involved Athena. With all of that in mind, one can't help but wonder about any future mash-ups. Tim Minear told TVLine that there are some things planned, though nothing as big as the wildfire:

Although it would be nice to have a full-on crossover, it's hard to deny that such events are difficult to coordinate from both narrative and production standpoints. Luckily, it sounds like there are still fun things planned that fans should enjoy, and I’m curious to see exactly what lies ahead. Surely, Tim Minear has put plenty of thought into how he wants to proceed moving forward.

So far, this franchise has definitely found some creative ways to cross pollinate. Fans of the flagship may remember that the character of Pepper, who pepper-sprayed Santa, later appeared on the sister series as well, for example. Moving forward though, I'd be most interested in getting more information on Mateo’s cousin, who was brought up in the crossover episode. Julian Works, who plays Mateo on the spinoff, appeared in an early Season 2 episode of OG show as Marvin. Diving into this would be a clever way to tie up a loose end and maybe even create another "beautiful pairing" in a 9-1-1 show.

Considering Tim Minear's comments, we'l have quite a bit of time to speculate about what might happen in a future 9-1-1 crossover. One thing can be said for sure is that it would be a shame if these two shows never got another massive event at some point down the road. I mean, if the slew of NCIS shows can make crossovers work, (despite the fact that they all film in different places), I don't see why Fox's procedurals can't do the same.

Fox’s first responder drama 9-1-1: Lone Star finally had its Season 4 premiere, and of course, it wasn’t without some crazy emergencies, like raining frogs. On top of the heatwave and weird storms the 126 dealt with, T.K. and Carlos continued their wedding planning after getting engaged in the Lone Star Season 3 finale. However, the premiere also set up a big problem for Tarlos, and apparently, it’s been planned for a while.

While trying to book their dream venue, Carlos found out there was availability in eight weeks, meaning that he had to come clean about a secret he had been harboring. He admitted to T.K. that he’s married to Iris, the sister of Liv Tyler’s paramedic captain Michelle Blake from Season 1. The two married after Carlos came out as gay to his parents, who didn’t really accept him, and they stayed married after Iris was diagnosed with schizophrenia so she could have his health benefits. 

Carlos actor Rafael Silva revealed to EW that he actually knew about the storyline from the very beginning. This could explain why Carlos and Michelle were so close in the first season, as he always made sure he was the arresting officer when she went too far to find her missing sister:

The marriage storyline was definitely a big shocker, and it’s even more surprising to know that it’s been planned from the start. Due to Liv Tyler leaving at the end of the first season, Tim Minear told EW that they never were able to resolve the storyline. However, now seems to be the perfect time to bring it back up with T.K. and Carlos getting ready for their special day, making secrets come back to create yet another obstacle for the couple:

The episode saw Carlos finally meeting with Iris, who now works at a shelter (with full benefits) and looking a lot better than when we last saw her in Season 1. Perhaps this will all come together in a future episode that really takes a look back at their relationship prior to getting married so we could see how close they really were and just what happened between them. 

While Iris is on board with the divorce since she no longer needs his help, what does T.K. think about all of this? Although he was confused at first and definitely didn’t like that his fiancé never told him, Ronen Rubinstein explained to NBC News that T.K. is as understanding as ever:

With only eight weeks until the Tarlos wedding, the road to 'I do' is going to be a troubling one, because according to Carlos, Texas law states he will have to be divorced for a month before getting married again. Tarlos has gone through a lot already, and it’s nothing they can’t handle, even if it won’t be easy. Though the end result will definitely be worth it if it means that T.K. and Carlos will finally tie the knot.

Some pretty meaningful figures from Owen’s life showed up in the 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 3 finale — including his late ex-wife Gwyn (Lisa Edelstein guest starred) and Manny, a first responder who died in the 9/11 terrorist attacks — but there was another character important to Owen who was noticeably absent, save for a brief mention: Catherine. Following the explosive season finale, executive producer Tim Minear addressed why Owen’s girlfriend didn’t appear in the episode, which was so focused on the firefighter living in the present.

It’s been an eventful season for Owen (Rob Lowe) and Catherine (guest star Amy Acker), as the couple has weathered some tragic events — including a stalker staging a bioterrorism attack at her office and leaving a dead pig in his bed (a Dexter-like move) — as well as some sitcom-esque hilarity, like when Owen mistook Catherine’s ex-father-in-law for her ex-husband and accused her of having an AARP fetish. While that nearly ended the couple, she agreed to stay with him if he returned to therapy, and the rest of Season 3 saw some huge breakthroughs for Captain Strand. So why wasn’t Catherine at the hospital after Owen was injured in the explosion? Tim Minear explained to TVLine:

It seems like Catherine’s absence in the finale was merely a problem of logistics, as Amy Acker was busy with another project. The episode handled it by showing that she’d sent Owen a “Thinking of you” card in the hospital. 

The EP said it really worked out for the best, as Tommy (Gina Torres) was the only person Owen had talked to about the possible recurrence of his cancer, and being able to deliver the good news (fungal infection!) that really allowed him to do what his ghosts had implored him to do and leave the past in the past.

Does this mean we can expect to see more of Amy Acker in Season 4? Only time will tell, but one thing Owen will have to look forward to when 9-1-1: Lone Star returns to Fox is the wedding of his son! T.K. proposed to Carlos in the Season 3 finale, and we can’t wait to see what the new season brings for the couple (as long as it’s all good things). Might we see two Strand weddings in the near future? 

We might be getting ahead of ourselves, and it’s going to be a while until this story resumes anyway. T.K. and Carlos haven’t had an easy road on 9-1-1: Lone Star, and they were certainly thrown an unexpected curveball in the previous episode, when T.K. was poisoned with Oxycontin, forcing him to start his sobriety journey over. “Riddle of the Sphynx” picked right up with that, showing the paramedic finding a new sponsor in his buddy Cooper and committing to his recovery through daily AA meetings. While Carlos was initially taken aback by how much T.K. seemed to be leaning on Cooper, Ronen Rubinstein (who plays T.K.) says the AA sponsor was never meant to be another hurdle for the beloved Tarlos to overcome.

Carlos was bothered when he learned about Cooper, and it was easy to see why. T.K. was seeing him at meetings every day (sometimes twice a day), talking about him constantly at home and calling him in the middle of the night. However, when T.K. skipped his AA meeting following a tough call where a teenager saw his mother die, Carlos really understood that Cooper could help T.K. in a way he wasn’t able to. Ronen Rubinstein told EW the relationship between his character and Cooper was one that he and showrunner Tim Minear talked about in great detail:

Carlos was so ready and willing to help T.K. however he needed, and it was heart-breaking to see him thinking he wasn’t enough. It was such a relief for 9-1-1: Lone Star to put an end to that drama before it really started. Rafael Silva spoke about how his character had to learn that he could not help T.K. all by himself, and that wasn’t his fault:

We definitely love to see Tarlos continuing to get stronger, even if the circumstances are less than ideal. T.K. told Carlos that starting over his sobriety journey this time was especially hard because it’s the first time he’s had to do it since his mom died. We knew Gwyn’s death was going to continue to be an issue for the Strand men, but that doesn’t make it easier to see. 

Speaking of the Strand men, it was apparently Owen’s relationship that we needed to be worried about — not T.K.’s — after Owen bafflingly accused Catherine of preferring “the day-olds” when it came to men after he mistook her ex-father-in-law for her ex-husband, causing her to seemingly break up with him (after he told her to find someone with an AARP card, so yeah, that was fair). Is it really over between Owen and Catherine? I guess we’ll have to tune in next Monday when 9-1-1: Lone Star returns at 9 p.m. ET on Fox. Last week’s episode of 9-1-1: Lone Star ended on a shocking and tragic cliffhanger, when T.K. received news that will change his life forever: his mom, Gwyn, has died. It was a storyline that no one saw coming, even if it might’ve been foreshadowed in T.K.’s coma dreams. Now Rob Lowe and showrunner Tim Minear are revealing why it had to happen, which includes a touching story.

Ahead of the new episode, Rob Lowe and Tim Minear talked about the show’s latest tragedy with EW. With Lisa Edelstein appearing in a number of episodes since the beginning of Season 2, and then turning up in early episodes of Season 3, Gwyn’s death was likely the last thing on anyone’s mind, including her son's and ex-husband's. While it hits T.K. hard, Minear reveals that it also hits close to him. He explained how he’s paying tribute to someone close to him and it’s pretty touching:

Episode 8 of 9-1-1: Lone Star will definitely be an emotional one. Aside from the troubles that Owen and T.K. will be experiencing on the plane, there will also be flashbacks to when Gwyn helped get T.K. into rehab years ago. It seems like fans will be seeing that true and tough mother love from Gwyneth, and knowing that it’s Minear’s tribute to his own mother makes it all the more special.

Meanwhile, Rob Lowe got more into just why the show made the decision to kill off Gwyneth. She and Owen had a tumultuous relationship in the second season, as they started to rekindle their love. After Gwyn got pregnant and it was revealed the baby is not Owen’s, she went back to New York. She made a reappearance in T.K.’s coma dream and then in real life at the 126 reopening. While it looked like there was still more story to tell with her and baby Jonah, Lowe explained that it was time to resolve her arc:

Gwyneth’s death was a curveball for the fun episode that aired last week and it left fans in disbelief. It does make sense why the show felt the need to kill her off, though since she did live back in New York. Still, that doesn’t mean it hurts any less. Especially since T.K. did just go through a major trauma and now he has to go through another one. Will he ever get a break?

Fox first responder drama 9-1-1: Lone Star is finally past the four-episode ice storm saga. The intense installments, which kicked off the third season, did some serious damage within the Lone Star State. And with it, came a six-month time jump between the second season's finale and the Season 3 premiere, during which plenty of things had changed. One of the biggest developments was that fan-favorite couple “Tarlos” had broken up but by the end of Episode 4, T.K. and Carlos were back together. Now, there's more good news on the couple, in spite of some "scar tissue."

Through the latest episode, fans got a little more clarity in regard to why the paramedic and police officer broke up. T.K. revealed to his mother, within his coma dream, that he ended things after Carlos bought them a loft and put both their names on the deed. Though the two were separated for a little while, fans won't have to worry about the couple, as 9-1-1: Lone Star creator Tim Minear reveals to TVLine that, like every relationship, it has its ups and downs but will be worth it in the end:

Via his dream, T.K. revealed that he viewed Carlos' decision to move forward with the loft as romantic but also as a “power move.” While it seems the two may have some stuff to talk about, it appears that, for now, they're fine. Tim Minear did, however, address the fact that T.K.'s struggle with addiction isn't going to make things so easy. Still, one would hope that he'll be able to power through his issues with Carlos by his side. 

As for the future of Tarlos, the couple will be taking things slow. The series' creator explained the important step the two took and even compared them to a fan-favorite couple on parent series 9-1-1:

Considering what both Carlos and T.K. have gone through, especially the latter, it’s nice that they aren’t rushing anything. Lone Star has done well when it comes to handling its characters and their relationships. T.K.’s development is a true testament to this, as he has come a long way from that first episode. At this point, he doesn’t want to do anything that might jeopardize his romance.

The two still have a lot to work through still. But the fact that they are back together and have moved into the loft together (specifically, Carlos moved in T.K. while he was recovering) should be comforting for fans. Fingers crossed that they don’t have any more major problems, because I wouldn’t be able to handle another Tarlos breakup.

The ice storm is continuing to slam 9-1-1: Lone Star’s third season and the second episode was an emotional one for multiple reasons. In a storyline that’s been teased as far back as November, T.K. fell through some ice while rescuing a little boy in a freezing pond and was soon hit with severe hypothermia and fell into a coma. T.K. is yet again in serious danger, but the showrunner has a good reason for it.

Fans have gone through a T.K. health crisis before, as it is not the first time he has been in the hospital. So why does this keep happening to poor T.K.? Lone Star boss Tim Minear explained to TV Insider why the firefighter-turned-paramedic is being put through the wringer, even comparing it to T.K.’s 9-1-1 danger magnet counterpart, Buck:

Just like Buck, it seems like T.K. is always getting hurt, whether that’d be physically or emotionally. While it seems like there will definitely be more to come out of this hypothermia storyline, including it lasting longer than an episode or two, fans will definitely be in for a ride. 

Meanwhile, as T.K. fights for his life, his loved ones will be doing everything they can to support him and each other. Tim Minear previews what the next episode will consist of, and it will be as intense and heartbreaking as ever:

It will be interesting to see exactly what happens in the following episode. It seems like we’ll be getting a look inside T.K.’s head, while Owen, who has been in the hill country, ex-boyfriend Carlos, and the rest of T.K.’s chosen family will be waiting for any good news. One T.K. (hopefully) gets better, maybe Tim Minear and the writers will give him a break because I don’t think I can stand any more trauma from this show.

Spoilers ahead for the Season 3 premiere of 9-1-1: Lone Star, “The Big Chill.”

The long-awaited and hightly anticipated third season of first responder drama 9-1-1: Lone Star started off with a big and wintry opener this week. Following the events of the Season 2 finale where the 126 was being permanently shut down, the series jumped forward a full six months to catch up with the real world, so to speak, and a lot had changed. Not only was the 126 still separated, but Owen was in the hill country, and Marjan was the only one fighting for the firehouse. One update that truly shocked fans was the breakup of T.K. and Carlos, also known as Tarlos, but showrunner Tim Minear has a pretty good explanation for why it had to happen.

When 9-1-1: Lone Star sprang forward from a sunny May day to a snowy January afternoon, fans were in for a rude awakening, as Tarlos had seemingly gone their separate ways. While it’s currently unknown the exact reason for the break-up, despite Nancy trying to get it out of T.K., Tim Minear tells ET Online this split isn't a permanent one, and will further help create a bigger storyline for the two characters:

It was a complete shocker when it was revealed that Tarlos is no more, considering the fan following they have amassed so far. However, the reasoning does kind of make sense, since relationships are all about meaningful growth, and it wouldn't be very fun for viewers if the duo had all of the most fun experiences during the time span when no stories were being told. Hopefully we'll find out what happened in those six months that made them break up, and it won’t take long for them to get back together.

Meanwhile, as Tarlos is broken up, we will be seeing more of them individually. Fans already got a taste of more Officer Reyes in the premiere when he arrested Marjan and played the hero after a building collapsed. According to Tim Minear, Carlos will be getting more of that much-deserved screen time, but don’t count Tarlos out just yet:

Fingers crossed that the Tarlos breakup doesn’t last much longer, especially with next week’s episode involving one-half of the couple on the brink of death. If there is one good thing that can come out of the breakup, it’s getting more solo scenes for Rafael Silva's Carlos. Let’s just hope they still continue even after he and Ronen Rubinstein's T.K. get back together.

New episodes of 9-1-1: Lone Star air Mondays at 8 p.m. EST on Fox!

Season 5 of Fox's first responder series 9-1-1 has arrived and in the midst of a ransomware attack on Los Angeles, there was a firefighter missing from the action: Albert Han. At the end of the Season 4 finale, Chimney’s half-brother Albert officially became a firefighter. While some time did pass between the finale and the Season 5 premiere, there was no mention of Albert in the episode. So where is he? Showrunner Tim Minear reveals the answer.

Fans were excited to see Albert become a firefighter, as it seemingly meant that they’d be seeing more of the Han brothers together, hopefully working together. Since there was no sign of him at the 118 in the premiere, it’s safe to say that he’s at a different firehouse. Though Tim Minear has a better explanation for him being MIA, as he told TV Insider:

John Harlan Kim headed over to The CW's Nancy Drew for a different role. That said, it seems fans won't be without Albert for too long in Season 5. Back in August, Kim posted a bloodied and bruised picture from the set of 9-1-1, which is now deleted, so it looks like Albert will be back very soon. However, the news of him being on Nancy Drew is intriguing, considering his role has yet to be revealed.

Albert quickly became a fan-favorite on 9-1-1. He was introduced in Season 3 as Chimney’s half-brother from Korea and although Chim didn't exactly give him a warm welcome, the 118 crew was quick to bring him into the family. Chimney soon came around to his brother and the two developed a close relationship. John Harlan Kim was then upped to series regular for Season 4 and just like the rest of the main characters, Albert found himself in a near-death situation when he got into a car accident thanks to a drunk driver, but he survived and was on the mend. At the end of the season, Albert passed his LAFD training, with the 118 there to support him.

Even though John Harlan Kim will be over in Horseshoe Bay on Nancy Drew, it looks like we’ll still be seeing Albert on 9-1-1. Which means we’ll be getting more of Uncle Albert, because we haven’t seen much of that since he was in recovery after his niece was born! New episodes of 9-1-1 air Mondays at 8 p.m. EST on Fox!

Spoilers ahead for the Season 2 finale of 9-1-1: Lone Star**, “Dust to Dust.”**

The Season 2 finale of Fox’s 9-1-1: Lone Star brought the first responder drama to another level. After Rob Lowe's Owen Strand and his firehouse dealt with the aftermath of a massive dust storm barreling through Austin, the team received some not so good news: the 126 is being separated indefinitely! But fear not, loyal viewers! Well, don't fear too much, at least, for Lone Star boss Tim Minear has some good news to go along with the bad.

For a little background: after an arsonist, who turned out to be someone within the department, set the 126 firehouse ablaze, the team had to be separated for the time being, with the firefighters getting reassigned to different stations. While the end of the finale made it seem like things were going to go back to normal as the family worked together to clean the place up, Billy Burke's former 126 captain and soon-to-be Deputy Fire Chief Billy Tyson broke the news that, due to financial cuts, the 126 will be shutting down permanently. The news left everyone shocked and saddened, of course, and the episode ended just as Owen punched Billy in his not-yet-the-chief face. Drama!

9-1-1: Lone Star co-creator and showrunner Tim Minear talked with TV Insider about how long the 126 squad could be separated for, and his update is one that should make any Lone Star fan hopeful. When asked if the split-house situation is one that will carry over into Season 3, Minear said:

So it doesn't sound like the show will be back to basics from the first minute of the Season 3 premiere, but that the status quo will be reestablished sooner rather than later. While it seems like the 126 won’t be separated for very long, it will be interesting to see just how everyone works out at their new stations. Marjan (Natacha Karam), Paul (Brian Michael Smith) and Judd (Jim Parrack) were all assigned to the 122, where they were shown to be having some fun, while Mateo (Julian Works) was back to doing grunt work at the 129. And now that he's stood up to the captain, who knows where that will leave him.

Owen was previously in talks to be deputy fire chief, but with that out of the plan, it’s a question of what he will do alongside his efforts to get the 126 back online. Meanwhile, Tommy (Gina Torres), T.K. (Ronen Rubinstein) and Nancy (Brianna Baker) didn’t have much luck finding a station with an open ambulance bay. Plus, Tommy is still grieving over the loss of her husband and struggling with being a working widowed mom. The 126 will always be the 126, with or without the firehouse they shared, but what will be the catalyst that brings them back together, and will it be permanent?

Despite it parent series 9-1-1 returning in the fall, 9-1-1: Lone Star won’t be coming back to Fox for Season 3 until the midseason kicks off in January 2022. That means fans will have to wait a while to see what happens with the 126, and where they could go following the events of the Season 2 finale. Knowing that they likely won’t be separated for long will at least put fans at ease, and maybe Tim Minear and Ryan Murphy can find a way to give viewers an Texas-sized update through the flagship series.

Spoilers ahead for the 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 2 finale, “Dust to Dust.”

The Season 2 finale of 9-1-1: Lone Star brought in a lot of action to Fox's primetime lineup, even if most of it got quite dirty. A massive dust storm made its way to the city of Austin, Texas, and the massive event raised the question of just how the crew managed to make it look like a 35-mile wide dust storm was causing chaos in the Texas capital, all while filming in sunny Los Angeles. Co-creator and showrunner Tim Minear revealed the crew member largely responsible for the episode, and the surprising connection it has to fellow Ryan Murphy series American Horror Story.

Ryan Murphy, who made his rise as the co-creator of shows such as Glee and American Horror Story (along with an extensive filmography of movies and other series), is also behind both 9-1-1 and its spinoff 9-1-1: Lone Star. So while fans might not think it too odd for both 9-1-1 series to share props and equipment, it might be more surprising to learn that finale director Bradley Buecker used the same smoke machine to create Lone Star’s dust-filled Austin that he'd used in adding atmosphere to the exterior shots in American Horror Story: Apocalypse. Now there's a crossover event I'd like to see.

Showrunner Tim Minear told TVLine why Bradley Buecker, who helmed 22 different episodes of American Horror Story (including Apocalypse's premiere and finale), was perfect to direct this particular Season 2 ender.

While the original 9-1-1 series is known for its big and crazy season premieres and finales, 9-1-1: Lone Star did not hold back with its own sophomore capper. As the majority of the 126 was split up following an explosion at the firehouse, the team came together during the aforementioned dust storm that engulfed the city. It was like nothing they'd ever seen before and the flying dust kept things intense from beginning to end.

Knowing how the crew managed to make the dust storm might make fans appreciate everyone's efforts even more, knowing how much hard work they've put in, and not just in making off-screen connections to other Ryan Murphy shows. The tie-in to AHS: Apocalypse is also a major plus, of course. Meanwhile, the real star of the hour had to be Mateo, the 126’s probie. He not only took charge and set up a triage in the middle of the street by himself, but he also stood up to his temporary captain of the 129, proving that he is a hardcore firefighter through and through.

The ending of 9-1-1: Lone Star's finale was a different change of pace, and thankfully not because AHS' son of Satan was causing trouble. After the dust storm, the 126 went back to the firehouse to try to clean things up, since city workers had been pushing back on it. However, that's when Billy Tyson came up and announced that due to financial cutbacks, the 126 would be shutting down permanently. The news came as a shock to not only the team, but also to fans watching. And, of course, everybody became angry at Billy, even as some thought he was finally coming around to being a good person. Now, though, fans won’t know what happens next until Season 3 pops up somewhere during midseason 2022.

What will happen to the 126 and will there be any more connections to AHS or other Ryan Murphy series? (My money's not on Popular.) Find out when 9-1-1: Lone Star returns next year on Fox. In the meantime, the first two seasons are streaming on Hulu, and the upcoming 2021 Summer TV schedule has tons of great options to keep one busy in the interim.

Spoilers ahead for the spring premiere of 9-1-1: Lone Star on Fox, called "Saving Grace."

9-1-1: Lone Star Season 2 finally returned after fans spent more than a month wondering what would happen after the cliffhanger, with the fates of Judd and Grace uncertain after their truck went careening off a bridge into the river. Showrunner Tim Minear's comments didn't guarantee that both would survive the dangerous twist, and "Saving Grace" kept viewers hanging almost the entire episode to see whether Grace at least would recover. The episode fortunately came to a happy ending, but that doesn't mean Grace and Judd are in for happiness in the coming weeks.

Judd escaped the crash more easily than Grace, as Grace's legs were pinned and she was underwater for six minutes before she could be saved, and Judd had no way to be certain that she hadn't sustained brain damage by the time she woke up... if she woke up. When Grace did eventually wake, the doctor revealed that her recovery is a matter of physical therapy and healing, without any brain trauma. Even better, Grace is pregnant! Both Grace and Judd were overjoyed, and it was an uplifting way to end an episode that could have come to a tragic conclusion.

But the burst of joy Judd experienced at Grace waking and both of their happiness at the news that she is pregnant doesn't mean that they will be all smiles in the episodes to come. 9-1-1: Lone Star showrunner Tim Minear weighed in on Grace's pregnancy in light of her recovery from the accident, telling The Wrap:

Judd may have been pretty thrilled when the doctor confirmed that Grace's recovery would more or less be a matter of physical therapy and time, but that is going to prove to be tough on Grace. Even though her job isn't nearly as physical as what the firefighters and paramedics of 9-1-1: Lone Star do on a weekly basis, she is not used to not being able to move around and help with ease. And these injuries on top of pregnancy, from a physical standpoint? Grace's happy ending in "Saving Grace" could lead to a challenging new status quo that is much unhappier than her life had been to this point!

But hey, at least both she and Judd survived. Plus, "Saving Grace" went back in time to show the origins of their relationship, which was so gosh darn sweet (aside from Judd's misstep that resulted in a temporary split) that it would have been downright heartbreaking if one of them died, or if Judd had snapped and killed the drunk driver and therefore gotten himself locked up.

All things considered, the episode went about as well as could be hoped considering what happened to them, and while the aftermath of Grace's injuries obviously isn't going to be fun for her (or Judd), it should be interesting to watch. Find out what happens next for Judd, Grace, and all the rest when 9-1-1: Lone Star returns on Monday, April 26 at 9 p.m. ET on Fox, following a new episode of 9-1-1. Interestingly, the spring premiere of 9-1-1 also dealt with pregnancy, although that episode saw Maddie finally give birth after nine and a half months of pregnancy. For Grace's sake, I hope that her pregnancy goes as well as Maddie's did, but without the baby coming late!

Before she was Paramedic Captain Tommy Vega on 9-1-1: Lone Star or managing partner Jessica Pearson on all seven seasons of Suits, Gina Torres portrayed Zoë Washburn on the Fox sci-fi series Firefly. Although only lasting one season, the series has received strong fan support, put up strong home video sales, and won an Emmy in 2003. Nearly two decades later, Torres is speaking out about what her initial thoughts were on the short-lived drama.

With Firefly currently available to stream on Hulu, fans new and old are discovering and rediscovering the series. Gina Torres spoke to Newsweek about how it holds up as a fan favorite all these years later, and how it’s resonated with people over that period. Said Torres,

Created by Joss Whedon and Tim Minear, Firefly was set in the year 2517, after the arrival of humans in a new star system, and follows the crew of Serenity: a “Firefly-class” spaceship. Besides Gina Torres, the series stars an ensemble cast including Nathan Fillion, Alan Tudyk, Jewel Staite and Sean Maher. The sci-fi series lasted for a single, 14-episode season from 2002-2003. However, a film, titled Serenity, came out in 2005 that was a continuation of the series and took place after the events of the finale.

The Firefly alum revealed earlier this year how the series brought her to other Fox drama, 9-1-1: Lone Star, as co-creator of the on-going hit Tim Minear wrote and directed multiple episodes of the sci-fi series (not to mention was an executive producer). Gina Torres has also recalled one of her favorite scenes, which was a pretty epic moment for Zoë, and has relished the opportunity to work with other Firefly alums, which occurred when she reunited with Nathan Fillion on Castle.

As mentoned, Gina Torres is currently starring on 9-1-1: Lone Star. The show is on hiatus for another few weeks but then it will return on April 19 to finish off Season 2. Given her continued relationship with Firefly's Tim Minear, who knows if there will be a reunion sometime in the future, like how there’s been reunions on Nathan Fillion’s ABC cop drama, The Rookie. Only time will tell – but even when she is saving lives as Captain Vega, Torres will always be Zoë Washburn. Hopefully it won’t be long until she’s reunited with some former co-stars!

Gina Torres is widely known for a number of the roles she’s played over the years, yet one of her most famous and revered performances is that of Zoe Washburne in the short-lived Firefly. In the years since the series was prematurely cancelled, Torres has gone on to play a number of other notable roles, and she recently joined the second season of Fox’s 9-1-1: Lone Star in the role of Tommy Vega. But as it turns it, it was her role on Firefly that helped her land her 9-1-1 gig.

9-1-1: Lone Star was co-created by Tim Minear, who previously wrote and directed episodes of Firefly years ago. While speaking to TVLine, cites Minear as being the person who brought her onto 9-1-1, and the actress couldn’t help but express gratitude to him for reaching out about the show, especially when Hollywood is currently dealing with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic:

It’s not uncommon for actors to reteam with collaborators on projects, whether it be in television or film. It’s always nice to see Gina Torres on TV, but it’s even sweeter knowing that she’s reunited with a creative that she loves.

Torres still seems to have a lot of love for Firefly and has looked back on the show on more than one occasion. For instance, she once recalled one of her favorite scenes, which is a pretty epic moment for Zoe. The actress also relishes the opportunity to work with other Firefly alums, which occurred when she reunited with Nathan Fillion on Castle.

Following its initial debut in 2003, the love for Joss Whedon’s Firefly runs deep, as many wonder what could have been had the show not been canned after a single 14-episode season. Although fans did get to see more of the franchise through the 2005 film Serenity, they probably wouldn’t mind more adventures with the intergalactic crew.

Until any such project happens, Gina Torres will have plenty of things to keep her occupied on 9-1-1: Lone Star, as the explosive new season is only just ramping up. And let’s hope Tim Minear and his collaborators give Torres some great moments that rival the ones she had on Firefly.

Spoilers ahead for the Season 3 finale of 9-1-1 on Fox, called "What's Next?"

The Season 3 finale of 9-1-1 was hyped as the episode that brought back Connie Britton as Abby for closure with Buck and pitted the heroes of the 118 against a massive train derailment, but the biggest twist of the hour arguably came at the end when everything seemed like it was back to normal. Maddie is pregnant!

Yes, Maddie and Chimney are going to be parents! The moment of realization came at May's graduation party. Maddie recoiled from the scent of a salmon dish that she'd loved before, which is an immediate sign in TV land that somebody is pregnant. Maddie came to the same conclusion and rushed home with Chimney to take two pregnancy tests to confirm.

9-1-1 delivered a huge surprise for Maddie, but for once, it wasn't a traumatic surprise! All things considered, Maddie is in a good place in her life, and Chimney is a stand-up guy for her to have a baby with.

Still, it will mark a huge change in a show that is more or less procedural, and there are already some kid characters on the show thanks to May and Harry Grant and, of course, the adorable Christopher.

While Maddie and Chimney were in a solid place in their relationship, they didn't seem like they were seriously considering having kids any time soon, and Maddie all but panicked earlier in Season 3 when she thought Chim was going to propose. In one fell swoop -- or two positive pregnancy tests -- they're going to be committed for a very long time.

Fortunately, 9-1-1 has already been renewed for Season 4, and executive producer Tim Minear shared with TV Insider what's in the works for Maddie and Chimney's pregnancy story:

On the downside, Maddie and Chimney aren't going to magically be out of danger just because Maddie is pregnant, although hopefully 9-1-1 won't put Maddie in the middle of another hostage situation. On the upside, the 9-1-1 team is planning some stories that are "heartwarming," "aspirational," and "wonderful." It couldn't happen to a better couple!

Honestly, of the various couples on the show, I'd say Maddie and Chimney are the ones most ready for a baby. That said, this is TV, and no TV drama ever lets a major character go through a pregnancy without a crisis or two, but hopefully Maddie's Season 4 arc will be mostly happy.

Interestingly, Maddie was also involved in a little bit of a cliffhanger having to do with May, although it pales in comparison to the baby bombshell. At May's graduation party, Maddie asked if she was excited about USC.

In response, May said she wanted to talk to Maddie about something. The conversation never happened (on-screen, at least), and Tim Minear would only tease this about May:

Unfortunately, 9-1-1 fans have a wait on their hands before finding out what happens with Maddie and Chimney now that there's a bun in the oven or what May had in mind to talk about with Maddie. 9-1-1 is heading into its longest hiatus between seasons, as Fox recently announced that 9-1-1 (along with 9-1-1: Lone Star and the new Mayim Bialik/Jim Parsons show) won't hit the airwaves until midseason.

The good news is that there are plenty of TV options now and in the not-too-distant future, and you can find them on our 2020 summer TV premiere schedule.

Connie Britton’s Season 1 exit from 9-1-1 on Fox was one of the series' biggest game-changers, so obviously there was quite a bit of excitement when it was announced she would return to play Abby Clark for multiple episodes of Season 3. Now, executive producer Tim Minear has noted that Abby will re-enter the series with some “unfinished business,” concerning Buck, and spoke a bit about his thoughts on the character's head space.

Many will remember the two tried a long distance relationship when Abby left to visit Ireland after her mother’s death. That trip ended up turning into a tour of Europe, and eventually Buck moved out of her apartment and on from any hope of a relationship. Tim Minear recapped some of what's happening with Buck upon Abby's return, and teased some of the complications that may arise for him with her coming back.

Tim Minear’s comments on Abby’s return (which has been in the works for a while) are intriguing, and hint at the main problem Abby’s return could present on 9-1-1. Buck has worked on himself since finding Abby, and her return may put at risk all the growth he’s had while she was away. Is he willing to retread old ground if it means going back on some of the ways he’s grown since she left?

Of course, that's assuming Abby even wants anything to do with Buck. Perhaps he'll unexpectedly learn she's back in the States and not be too happy he had to find out that way? Abby has to be aware that Buck's feelings must be a little hurt after she threw away their relationship for an extended Eurotrip, and seeing as she's the more seasoned one of the pair, may have figured it best to steer clear of him upon her return.

There are a thousand different ways Buck and Abby can reconnect, but perhaps focusing on Tim Minear's core reveal to TVLine is most important. Abby's situation with Buck is "unfinished business," so there should be no doubt their former relationship will be addressed in her return. The chances of the two becoming a permanent couple feel slim considering Connie Britton's return is temporary, but who knows? Perhaps Abby could remain an off-screen girlfriend, or Britton could sign up for a more permanent role on the show after this stint.

Spoilers ahead for the fall finale of 9-1-1 Season 3, called "Christmas Spirit."

9-1-1 never fails to deliver a killer cliffhanger in big episodes, and the third season's fall finale was no exception. Although "Christmas Spirit" didn't end with a tsunami poised to hit Los Angeles or an adorable little boy missing and swept away in the torrent, it did end with the reveal that one character's end may be nigh. Surprisingly, it wasn't Bobby, despite his cancer scare earlier in Season 3. No, the one who may lose his life in Season 3 is Michael. But does that mean Bobby is wholly out of the woods?

Here's what went down in "Christmas Spirit." The spirits were decidedly glum for many of the characters, with both Bobby and Athena distracted by Bobby's possible health crisis, Michael facing his first Christmas alone, and everything feeling just a little off. Not helping matters was Michael's reveal that he was on meds for sleep deprivation, leading to some dangerous sleep-walking. He wound up back in bed with Athena, then walked through a plate glass door and wound up in the hospital.

Michael promised Athena that he would get a full check-up after the holidays, but the end of the episode dropped the game-changing news that doctors had run some tests on Michael and discovered a tumor. While Michael didn't go into detail when he shared the tumor news with Bobby, securing a promise that Bobby wouldn't tell in the process, his delivery suggests that he doesn't expect to survive whatever has happened to him.

So, does the discovery of Michael's tumor mean the end of Michael, and that Bobby is out of danger when it comes to potential cancer? 9-1-1 showrunner Tim Minear dropped some details about the second half of Season 3 during a chat with TV Guide, saying this when asked if Athena will ever get a break:

Well, at least the stellar Athena-centric episode that 9-1-1 really needed earlier this season is proof that Athena is made of strong enough stuff to endure just about anything! Despite her divorce from Michael and marriage to Bobby, they all care deeply about each other and make for one big, unconventional family with Michael and Athena's two kids.

The good news is Tim Minear pretty much confirmed that fans can stop worrying about a cancer diagnosis for Bobby; the bad news is that there are no guarantees that Michael will survive. Even if Bobby had been diagnosed with cancer, I would have had a hard time being truly concerned that he'd die. That's not the case with Michael.

Surely 9-1-1 wouldn't kill off leading man Peter Krause's character, right? Whereas Rockmond Dunbar, as a non-first responder, could be pulled out of the show without changing everything. His death would be emotionally devastating, but wouldn't really cripple the show about cops, firefighters, EMTs, and 911 operators.

Still, we don't need to look too far ahead. It's entirely possible that Michael will survive his diagnosis. Find out what happens when 9-1-1 returns for the second half of Season 3 in 2020, along with a whole bunch of other shows on our 2020 winter and spring TV premiere schedule. One of those shows will be spinoff 9-1-1: Lone Star, starring Rob Lowe.

There have been plenty of things to be excited about throughout 9-1-1 Season 2, but after the finale there's one big thing for fans to worry about. Buck survived a tragic accident, but it's looking like he may never work again. It's a shocker that, surprisingly, almost wasn't a story until it was added in the script's late stages. Showrunner Tim Minear explained the decision to add the storyline, as well as how the truck accident would've played out originally.

It's clear Tim Minear is a big fan of Oliver Stark's performance as "injured Buck," so one may expect 9-1-1 to continue the story when it returns. Given how emotional the scenes were when we saw the firefighter dealing with his injury, Buck's in for a rough ride. That's good news if Oliver Stark was looking to bring more emotion to his character, but bad for fans who were fine with Buck just having "sex problems."

Of course, Buck's trauma from the incident will likely make the dramatic firetruck bombing all the more memorable. That's a good thing as Tim Minear told Entertainment Tonight filming the scene was no easy feat. The emotional sequence took place over the course of two nights with the explosion and driving filmed on the first night, and all the acting and bomber confrontation scenes on the next night.

So, will Buck actually be able to get back on the job? Right now, the only thing Tim Minear will share is that the 9-1-1 firefighter will find his biggest enemy is not the injury, but his stubbornness. Minear teased that Buck will struggle with his own impatience, as evidenced by his continued push for a surgery against the advisement of his doctor. If Buck continues to push himself, his timetable could be set back.

Limited and "event" series are on the rise these days, and as evidenced by 24's anticipated return, the format is an intriguing option as it relates to TV show comebacks, as it doesn't require a long-term commitment for those involved in making it, or the network looking to get it on the air. Firefly's Tim Minear thinks that format would be the way to go if ever the series were to make its way back to television.

And that's a big if ever.

EW makes it very clear at the start of their interview with Minear that they're merely entertaining the topic and not actually talking about a planned comeback for Firefly. At present, there isn't one, and Minear says the last time he talked about bringing Firefly back was nearly a decade ago when he and Joss Whedon discussed "some kind of spinoff," but it doesn't sound like Minear's been involved in any more recent discussions on the matter.

When discussing what format might work best for some kind of Firefly comeback, Minear suggested a limited series:

It's not all that surprising that he'd appreciate the shorter format to revisit the story, as Minear's spent the last few years working as a consulting producer on American Horror Story. The FX series tells a new story each season, and shuffles up its cast.

As for what he said about Netflix, it's smart thinking to consider the benefits of locking in a streaming deal for the hypothetical series. As Minear notes, the streaming video service is really what gave Firefly the afterlife it had after its one-season run on Fox. " Those ancillary markets only really started blooming in the decade after we went off the air," Minear told EW. "Five years after we went off the air is when people discovered us. If we made it five years earlier it might not have happened that way."

Firefly's afterlife also included Serenity, a feature film that followed up on the story and included the original cast from the series. As Minear points out early on in the interview, "getting the band back together" for a followup would be great. "But first everybody has their respective projects that limits them from crossing over into other things," he says. Like Castle, for Nathan Fillion. It would be a challenge to make it happen, that's for sure, but not impossible. And if they did manage to bring the show back, no power in the verse could stop fans from tuning in.

Alas, this is all hypothetical for now. But looking at 24's comeback, and Fox's current interest in event series' in general -- they also have Wayward Pines and some other short form projects in the works -- we know there's a trending format out there that would lend itself well to this kind of comeback, if ever the stars aligned to make it happen.

Every once in a while, in between covering reality TV and stories about yet another ill-conceived remake, I get to write up a post that puts a big stupid grin on my face. This is one of those occasions. Netflix has added the brilliant, tragically short-lived, and unforgivably underwatched series Terriers to their Instant Watch catalogue. You need to add it to your queue, like, right freaking now.

Terriers was created by Ted Griffin (Tower Heist) and exec produced by Griffin, Shawn Ryan, and Tim Minear. Ryan brought us awesome shows such as The Shield and The Unit. In addition to working on both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, Minear has worked on a slew of wonderful and/or intriguing shows: Firefly, Wonderfalls, The Inside, Drive, Dollhouse...and Terriers. Of all those short-lived gems, Terriers is the one that still breaks my heart the most. Well, maybe it's a close second behind Firefly.

So, what is this Terriers thing anyway, you might ask? Your ignorance wouldn't surprise me, because FX's ad campaign for Terriers did the show no favors whatsoever. They pretty much showed the stars, Donal Logue and Michael Raymond-James, sitting on the front stoop of a building in silence while a dog walked past. That was it. Or then there was this one. What the hell was this show about? Was it about dog owners? They both looked kind of tough, so maybe they were dog catchers? Did they solve crimes with the dog? Combined with the uninformative title, Terriers had an uphill battle attracting viewers from the get-go.

And that's a damn shame, because those few of us who found the show fell in love hard. Focusing on two unlicensed private detectives named Hank (Logue) and Britt (Raymond-James), Terriers mixes case-of-the-week stories with a larger plot arc, not to mention the messy snarl of Hank and Britt's private lives. Hank's a recently fired former cop struggling with alcoholism and still hardcore in love with his ex-wife. Britt is a former criminal Hank took under his wing to set straight. The show plays out almost like a grown-up, scruffier version of Veronica Mars, with the same San Diego setting and the same brilliant mix of compelling, deeply flawed characters; crackerjack dialogue; and an overarching season-long story-arc that slowly reveals itself. Hank and Britt are two of the best characters to grace TV screens in a long time, and I'm still gut-punched that the show didn't get to continue.

Thankfully, it did get one complete, completely amazing season. The show still isn't available on DVD, but now you can watch it from the beginning on Netflix. If you missed the show, watch it. If you loved the show, watch it. If you've never even heard of the show until now, watch it. You won't be sorry.

If you’ve been wondering all these years why there was never a Faith-centered Buffy the Vampire Slayer spinoff series, Eliza Dushku finally dishes the dirt on why the project never came to pass.

Personally, I had no idea that such a spinoff was ever an option, but then again I didn’t jump on the Buffy bandwagon until after the series was cancelled. Apparently there were rumors that there was going to be a spinoff series focusing on the Faith, the bad-girl slayer who seemed somewhat redeemed when Buffy wrapped up its seventh and final season but it never happened.

According what Dushku said in a recent interview posted by SFX, there were a number of factors that led to the project being scrapped.

Dushku went on to say that while she loves Tim Minear, Whedon’s unavailability to do the project was a contributing factor. She also wanted to explore other characters. Dushku admitted that, while she doesn’t regret the decision to move on with her career and leave Faith behind, she does think talks could have gone on a bit longer.

I’d say that her initial decision not to pursue future Faith projects was a good one. As much as I loved both Buffy and Angel, when I think of a Faith-centered series, I picture Dushku rescuing and mentoring other misguided wild-child girls and giving them speeches about how she too once lived recklessly and it led to bad things. I like how her character was fleshed out in Angel and then resolved somewhat in the final season of Buffy. I don’t think her story needed to go any further than that.
