2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine features plenty of familiar faces from the Ryan Reynolds-led franchise, but one notable cast member was absent. T.J. Miller didn’t return as Wade Wilson’s good buddy, Weasel, in the superhero movie threequel following legal issues as well as alleged behind-the-scenes issues with Reynolds. Despite his past beef with his former co-star, though, Miller recently shared some comments that may suggest he could return for the Marvel series’ fourth film, which is reportedly in the works.

Miller continues to tour as a comedian and, during a recent stop in Detroit, he chatted with 101 WRIF. Talk eventually turned to the Deadpool franchise, which is allegedly set to continue under the purview of Marvel Studios. With that, Miller was specifically asked if the proverbial ship had sailed for him to be in another one of those Wade Wilson-fronted movies. And the Big Hero 6 alum shared an optimistic response:

To be clear, at this point, there’s been no official confirmation that a fourth Deadpool film is among the slate of upcoming Marvel movies. However, reports indicate that despite previous claims, Reynolds is currently focusing much of his attention on developing that supposed superhero movie. On that note, Miller even went as far as to say that he’s been in contact with Reynolds as of late, and the comic claimed they discussed the concept for DP4:

These comments are starkly different from the sentiments T.J. Miller shared about Ryan Reynolds a few years ago. In 2022, Miller went viral when he shared his belief that Reynolds “hate[d]” him and claimed there was a moment on set in which Reynolds was “horrifically mean” to him while in character as Wilson. However, sometime after, Miller said he and Reynolds communicated via email and sorted out their differences. Still, by late 2024, Miller reiterated the “hate” assumptions and said he “would not work with” Reynolds again.

During his interview with 101 WRIF, though, Miller had nothing but praise to shower on Reynolds. Miller specifically shared what he appreciated about Reynolds as a creative force and where they currently stand on a personal front:

The exclusion of T.J. Miller – who appears as bartender Weasel in the first two Deadpool films – from D&W came several years after he was accused of sexual assault by an unnamed woman in 2017. Both Miller and his wife, Kate Gorney, denied the claims from the woman, who they reportedly went to college with. And, in 2018, Miller was arrested by the feds for making a fake bomb threat in New York while aboard an Amtrak train. Those charges were eventually dismissed in 2021.

Considering Miller’s past controversies, it’s honestly hard to say whether Marvel Studios would bring him back to reprise Weasel. Still, Miller’s latest comments seem to suggest there’s a chance he’ll share the screen with Reynolds in a fourth Deadpool movie. Fans will have to wait and see what happens but, in the meantime, they can stream the first three films in Reynolds’ superhero franchise using a Disney+ subscription.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been going strong for over a decade, and those who have spent years watching the Marvel movies in order have waited years for former Fox characters to join the fun. Following Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox, this finally happened with Deadpool & Wolverine. But Weasel wasn't back for Deadpool 3. and now T.J. Miller opened up about why "things kind of changed' between him and Ryan Reynolds.

Miller's character Weasel was noticeably absent from Deadpool 3's cast list, despite being a major character in the first two movies. Many believed this was due to T.J. Miller's controversies, as he's been mostly absent from major Hollywood projects since. While appearing on The Adam Corolla Show, he addressed his relationship with Ryan Reynolds, saying:

There you have it. While Ryan Reynolds has been working consistently for decades, the wild success of the Deadpool franchise definitely put him on another level. And Miller seems to think that's when things changed between him and the actor/writer/producer.

While Miller denied allegations about his misconduct on the set of Silicon Valley (which can be streamed with a Max subscription), his career has slowed down a bit. In the same interview, he referenced his wife's POV and Deadpool's success, musing:

This isn't the first time Miller has claimed that Ryan Reynolds hates him. Clearly there are strong feeling there, and the fact that he was booted from the Deadpool franchise likely contributed to it. Although to be fair, most of the franchise's returning characters took a backseat in Deadpool & Wolverine, with the movie instead focusing on the relationship between those two character amidst a multiversal adventure.

Deadpool is clearly here to stay, even if its without Miller's character Weasel. Given how wildly successful the third movie, smart money says he and Logan will be back for more upcoming Marvel movies. We'll just have to wait and see when/here.

While Wade Wilson and Weasel shared an amusing (and filthy) dynamic with one another in the first two Deadpool movies, last week, T.J. Miller said that his relationship with Ryan Reynolds wasn’t anywhere near as friendly. The Silicon Valley star opened up being unhappy on the Deadpool set and claimed that Reynolds “hates” him, which factored into his decision not to return for Deadpool 3. Following Miller’s comments going viral, he’s provided an update on where he now stands with Reynolds.

During his visit to SiriusXM’s Jim Norton & Sam Roberts, T.J. Miller shared with the title hosts that Ryan Reynolds got in touch with him after his comments about his Deadpool comments spread around the media, and apparently the two are now on good terms with one another. As Miller put it:

T.J. Miller previously recalled a “weird moment” on Deadpool where Ryan Reynolds allegedly got into character as the Merc with the Mouth and was “horrifically mean” to Miller the actor, treating him as if he was Weasel the character. He acknowledged that that Reynolds was “riffing,” but was nonetheless bothered by the encounter. Miller went on to say that “things kind of changed” after Reynolds got “super, super famous” from the first Deadpool movie, and although he reprised Weasel for Deadpool 2, he didn’t plan on working with Reynolds again. This prompted Reynolds to contact Miller, the latter shared that it didn’t take long for him to clear things up with the former, saying:

Later on in this newest interview, T.J. Miller noted that despite having also said complimentary things about Ryan Reynolds in that same interview, it was only his negative comments that made the press rounds. Miller also admitted that didn’t think about the “repercussions” of his original comments would be, because from his perspective, he was just telling a story about something that happened to him on set. He continued:

Despite Ryan Reynolds and T.J. Miller coming to an understanding, given that Miller said in the prior interview that he’s not keen on playing the same character for too long, that’s probably a safe indication he still doesn’t intend to appear in Deadpool 3, one of the many upcoming Marvel movies. So far the only actors who are confirmed to appear with Reynolds in Deadpool 3 are Hugh Jackman, who’s donning the Wolverine claws one more time, and Leslie Uggams, who will reprise Blind Al. Behind the scenes, the threequel is being directed by The Adam Project’s Shawn Levy, and Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick returned to work on the script.

We may be getting the return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in Deadpool 3, but there is one character from the first two movies about the merc with the mouth we won’t be seeing in this movie, which is one of Marvel’s highly anticipated upcoming projects. T.J. Miller has appeared in the last two Deadpool movies as the bartender Weasel, but he has made it clear he won’t be in Deadpool 3. The reason: he thinks Ryan Reynolds hates him. 

Miller was recently on The Adam Carolla Show where he told a story about a day filming Deadpool. He explained that making that movie wasn’t a great experience, recalling a day he and Reynolds shot a scene in Weasel's bar.

Carolla also pushed back and asked Miller if he knows why Reynolds hates him, or if he had confronted the actor about what happened. He said no, and that he doesn’t want to work with the film's lead actor again. Earlier in the interview, he also made this point by comparing working with his co-star to working with Michael Bay, explaining: 

So while we don’t know much about Deadpool 3, we do know that Miller will not be in it. He told Carolla that even if he was asked, and they offered him more money, he wouldn’t do it. 

Even though he was not all that complimentary toward the actor behind Deadpool, he did note how funny he is, and that he’s a great improviser. The Silicon Valley star also explained he wouldn’t do the third movie because he doesn't want to play the same character for too long, citing that as the reason he left Silicon Valley early. So the feud between Reynolds and Jackman may all be in good fun, but Miller seems to have a real issue with Deadpool's lead actor, which is why he won’t be in its third installment.

There are more iconic, influential, and, perhaps, even more beloved found footage thrillers (namely The Blair Witch Project and Paranormal Activity). However, as far as I am concerned, it was the mysterious monster movie Cloverfield that really jump-started the subgenre back into the mainstream.

Released in January 2008 - following a killer marketing campaign - the thrilling creature feature from producer J.J. Abrams and director Matt Reeves follows a group of twenty-somethings struggling to survive a strange creature’s attack on New York City. More than a decade later, a direct sequel (which 10 Cloverfield Lane and Netlfix’s The Cloverfield Pardox do not exactly count as) is apparently in the works. Without giving too much away, I would not expect to see many of the original Cloverfield cast members appear, but if you are curious where you could spot them next, read on.

Michael Stahl-David (Rob Hawkins)

Leading the Cloverfield cast as Rob Hawkins - whose surprise going-away party before moving to Japan for business occurred on the night of the Cloverfield monster’s attack - is Michael Stahl-David, who would go on to to play Bobby Kennedy in 2016’s LBJ alongside Woody Harrelson and star in Netflix original TV shows like Chambers and Narcos. He more recently had a recurring role on the Fox drama Almost Family, and will next star on the CBS medical drama Good Sam.

Odette Annable (Beth McIntyre)

As Rob’s best friend and (partially) unrequited love interest, Beth, we have Odette Annable (née Yustman), who had previously debuted alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger in Kindergarten Cop and almost immediately took advantage of her growing Scream Queen reputation by leading The Unborn a year after Cloverfield. Following her recurring role on Supergirl, Annable joined Fox’s Fantasy Island reboot cast in 2021 and, soon after, was promoted as a series regular for Walker Season 2 on The CW.

Mike Vogel (Jason "Hawk" Hawkins)

Coincidentally, Mike Vogel appeared in Blumhouse’s feature-length Fantasy Island reboot in 2020 and was previously known for thrillers like the 2003 Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake, comedies like The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, and his recurring role on the Fox sitcom Grounded for Life before joining the Cloverfield cast as Rob’s brother, Jason. His most recent return to horror was on American Horror Story Season 10 as John F. Kennedy and he will reprise his starring role on Netflix’s Sex/Life cast when Season 2 premieres in 2022.

Jessica Lucas (Lily Ford)

Yet another one of the Scream Queens from the Cloverfield cast is Jessica Lucas, who later starred in 2013’s Evil Dead remake and multiple notable TV series, including Gotham and The CW’s reboots of both 90210 and Melrose Place. After leading the procedural drama The Murders in her native Canada, Lucas most recently joined The Resident cast and, while there is no word on her chances of appearing in the Cloverfield sequel, she has one of the better chances since we never actually saw the fate of her character: Jason Hawkins’ girlfriend, Lily Ford.

T.J. Miller (Hudson "Hud" Platt)

The man behind the shaky camera capturing the action of Cloverfield is “Hud,” played by T.J. Miller making his acting debut years before joining the Silicon Valley cast and playing Weasel in Deadpool made him something of a household name. The comedian did another well-received creature feature called Underwater and a comedy opposite Drew Barrymore called The Stand-In in 2020, though a number of controversies surrounding his personal life may have slowed down his acting career in recent years. It doesn't look like he has any movies or TV shows lined up for the future, but he continues to do stand-up comedy. 

Lizzy Caplan (Marlena Diamond)

Playing Hud’s crush, Marlena, in Cloverfield is Lizzy Caplan, who is likely known even better for previously playing Janis Ian on the Mean Girls cast in 2004 or her Emmy-nominated turn as Virginia Johnson on Showtime's Masters of Sex from 2013 to 2016. The Castle Rock star (she played Misery’s Annie Wilkes in Season 2) is playing another classic movie villain in Paramount+’s series remake of Fatal Attraction, is leading the upcoming horror movie Cobweb, and will star opposite Jesse Eisenberg in the FX miniseries Fleishmann is in Trouble.

Margot Farley (Jenn)

As Jenn, one of the most prominently seen guests at Rob’s going-away party, we have Margot Farley, who had previously appeared in the 2004 film Spartan and the CBS drama The Unit in a recurring role. She would reunite with Cloverfield producer J.J. Abrams for a brief role in the first of his Star Trek movies and played a cop on an episode of ABC’s Revenge starring Emily VanCamp, but has not appeared in much since the 2016 movie Catfish Blues. 

Theo Rossi (Antonio)

Jenn’s boyfriend, Antonio, is played by Theo Rossi, who joined the Sons of Anarchy cast as “Juice” not long after Cloverfield came out and later appeared on the Marvel series Luke Cage as “Shades.” In 2021, he had two notable roles in Netflix originals (Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead and the Kevin Hart-led dramatic series True Story) and, in 2022, he stars opposite Bruce Willis in the action film Vendetta and in the coming-of-age drama Dear Zoe with Stranger Things’ Sadie Sink.

Billy Brown (Staff Sgt. Pryce) 

In a brief (but memorably gruesome) Cloverfield scene, our main characters meet Staff Sgt. Pryce - played by fellow Sons of Anarchy vet Billy Brown, who also had a small role in The Lost World: Jurassic Park, 2009’s Star Trek, and a brief stint on the Dexter cast as Det. Mike Anderson. The voice actor (known for the likes of Adventure Time and Marine recruitment ads) more recently wrapped up his stint as a series regular on the How to Get Away with Murder cast in 2020.

Ben Feldman (Travis)

Making another brief (but memorably awkward) appearance as Travis (Beth’s date to Rob’s going-away party) is Ben Feldman, who is one of the more recognizable Cloverfield cast members today for another brief but memorable horror movie appearance in 2009’s Friday the 13th and a more prominent role in fellow found footage favorite As Above So Below in 2014. The former Superstore cast member is now lending his voice to Disney+’s Monsters at Work cast as main protagonist Tylor Tuskmon.

Travis is another character who, given his absence for a latter chunk of the first film, could potentially show up in the Cloverfield sequel, which could be a cool idea given Ben Feldman’s notoriety these days. What I would to see in the follow-up, honestly, is a proper and respectable tribute to these characters, whom I came to really love to a heartbreaking degree. I could also say the same about the movie itself.

Tye Sheridan (Wade Watts/Parzival)

As Wade Watts, i.e. Parzival, an avid Gunter who frantically searches for clues hidden inside the OASIS in order to unlock James Halliday's lost fortune, Tye Sheridan played the male protagonist in Steven Spielberg's Ready Player One. Most notably, Sheridan made his debut in Terrence Malick's masterpiece, The Tree of Life. Later, he received his first starring role in Jeff Nichols' Mud. Also, Sheridan plays Scott Summers, i.e. Cyclops, in the X-Men reboot series, which includes X-Men: Apocalypse, X-Men: Dark Phoenix, and Deadpool 2. Additionally, Sheridan can be seen in Joe, The Yellow Birds, Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, The Stanford Prison Experiment, and The Mountain.

Most recently, Tye Sheridan headlined the space-based drama, Voyagers. Furthermore, Sheridan appeared in The Night Clerk (which he also produced), Quibi's Wireless, and the video game, Madden NFL 21. Next, he'll be seen in Paul Schrader's The Card Counter. Right now, the actor is filming a role in George Clooney's The Tender Bar. Additionally, Sheridan is signed on to star in Black Flies and The Things They Carried.

Olivia Cooke (Samantha Cook/Art3mis)

In the role of Samatha Cook, better known as Art3mis, a determined Gunter who forms a kinship with Wade, Olivia Cooke played the female protagonist. Most notably, Cooke starred in A&E's Bates Motel. Additionally, the English actress played Becky Sharp in Amazon Prime's mini-series, Vanity Fair. Her other television credits include Modern Love, The Secret of Crickley Hall, and Blackout. Furthermore, outside of TV, Cooke starred in Ouija, The Quiet Ones, Thoroughbreds, and Me and Earl and the Dying Girl. She's also recognized for her performances in Life Itself, Katie Says Goodbye, The Limehouse Golem, The Signal, and last year's Sound of Metal. Additionally, the young talent was seen in One Direction's "Autumn Term" music video.

Most recently, Olivia Cooke starred in Pixie and Little Fish. She also had a starring role in Naked Singularity, which premiered at the San Francisco International Film Festival. Currently, Cooke is in the midst of filming the Game of Thrones prequel series, House of the Dragon. She's signed on to appear in Apple TV+'s Slow Horses.

Mark Rylance (James Halliday/Anorak the All-Knowing)

Playing the part of James Halliday, i.e. Anorak the All-Knowing, the inventor of OASIS who creates a scavenger hunt that leads to his vast fortune, Mark Rylance is the overarching protagonist of Steven Spielberg's Ready Player One. Most notably, Rylance won an Oscar for his supporting turn as Rudolf Abel in Spielberg's Bridge of Spies. Later, the actor reunited with the acclaimed filmmaker to play the title role in The BFG. Also, Rylance is a three-time Tony winner through his performances in Broadway's Boeing Boeing, Jerusalem, and Twelfth Night. His other notable film credits include Dunkirk, The Gunman, The Other Boleyn Girl, Hearts of Fire, Anonymous, and Blitz.

Last year, Rylance starred in Waiting for the Barbarians and The Trial of the Chicago 7. Next, he'll be seen in Terrence Malick's The Way of the Wind, Adam McKay's Don't Look Up, The Outfit, and The Fantastic Flitcrofts. Also, Rylance will appear in Brady Corbet's The Brutalist and he'll soon reunite with Simon Pegg for Peacock's The Undeclared War.

Ben Mendelsohn (Nolan Sorrento/IOI-655321)

As Nolan Sorrento, a.k.a. IOI-655321, the malicious head of IOI who savagely hunts for James Halliday's Easter Egg in order to take over the OASIS, Ben Mendelsohn plays the primary villain. Most notably, Mendelsohn won an Emmy for his supporting turn in Netflix's Bloodline. Outside of television, Mendelsohn is best known for his standout performances as Director Orson Krennic in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Andrew "Pope" Cody in Animal Kingdom, and Talos in Captain Marvel. Elsewhere, the actor appears in Mississippi Grind, Killing Them Softly, Starred Up, The Dark Knight Rises, Robin Hood (2018), The King, The Place Beyond the Pines, and Darkest Hour.

Most recently, Ben Mendelsohn produced and played Ralph Anderson in HBO's The Outsider. He's also seen in Babyteeth and heard in HBO Max's Infinity Train. Next, the actor stars in Joe Wright's Cyrano. He also recently filmed the thriller, Misanthrope. Additionally, Mendelsohn reprises his role as Talos in Disney+'s MCU series, Secret Invasion. The actor is also heard in the much-anticipated video game, Squadron 42.

Simon Pegg (Ogden Morrow/Curator)

In the role of Ogden Morrow, i.e. the Curator, James Halliday's best friend and the co-creator of the OASIS, Simon Pegg plays an emotional part in Ready Player One. Most famously, Pegg co-wrote and starred in Edgar Wright'sCornetto film trilogy, which includes Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World's End. Additionally, Pegg co-wrote and starred in Paul. Pegg plays Benji Dunn in the Mission: Impossible movies and Montgomery "Scotty" Scott in the recent Star Trek blockbusters.

Most recently, Simon Pegg co-created, produced, and starred in Amazon Prime's Truth Seekers. He also produced BBC Two's Out of Her Mind. Additionally, Pegg directed Pom Klementieff's short film, Au Revoir, Chris Hemsworth. Next, the actor will be heard in America: The Motion Picture. Right now, Pegg is reprising his role as Benji in Mission: Impossible 7 and 8. Additionally, Pegg will once again voice the title character in the CG-animated prequel, The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild. Furthermore, he will reunite with Mark Rylance in Peacock's The Undeclared War.

Lena Waithe (Helen Harris/Aech)

Playing the part of Helen Harris. a.k.a. Aech, Wade's best friend and a fellow Gunter, Lena Waithe made her film debut in Ready Player One. Most notably, Waithe won an Emmy for writing Netflix's Master of None, where she also plays Denise. Additionally, the award-winning television writer created Showtime's The Chi and BET's Boomerang and Twenties. As an actress, meanwhile, Waithe can be seen in Westworld, Netflix's Dear White People, and Hulu's Bad Hair. She also lent her voice to Onward. Furthermore, Waithe wrote for Fox's Bones and Nickelodeon's How to Rock. She also penned and co-produced Queen & Slim. Additionally, Waite produced Dear White People, Step Sisters, Ladylike, The 40-Year-Old Version, and Amazon Prime's Them.

Next, Lena Waithe will star in Master of None Season 3. Additionally, the screenwriter wrote and produced Netflix's Beauty. She's also the producer behind Birth of Cool, A Thousand and One, and the upcoming documentary, The One and Only Dick Gregory.

T.J. Miller (i-R0k)

As i-R0k, an obnoxiously egotistical Gunter who's constantly belittled by Wade, T.J. Miller voiced a minor antagonist in Ready Player One. Making his acting debut in Cloverfield, Miller found fame and acclaim through his standout performance as Erlich Bachman in HBO's Silicon Valley. The comedic actor is also known for his supporting performance in Deadpool 1 & 2. Additionally, Miller lent his voice to The Emoji Movie.

T.J. Miller's other notable movie credits include She's Out of My League, Transformers: Age of Extinction, Office Christmas Party, and Yogi Bear. Furthermore, Miller lent his voice to Big Hero 6 and How to Train Your Dragon 1 & 2. Outside of film, the actor wrote, produced, and played the titular character in The Gorburger Show. Most recently, Miller was seen in Underwater and The Stand-In. He was also heard in the short film, Street Walking. The comedian doesn't have any upcoming projects on the docket. After a series of allegations were made against Miller, that might not change anytime soon.

Philip Zhao (Zhou/Sho)

In the role of Zhou, i.e. Sho, a young Gunter on a quest to discover Halliday's Easter Egg alongside Daito, Philip Zhao plays a supporting character in Steven Spielberg's Ready Player One. This property-mashing blockbuster served as the child actor's screen debut. Likewise, the film remains Zhao's only screen credit; he has no future projects lined up.

Win Morisaki (Toshiro/Daito)

Playing the part of Toshiro, i.e. Daito, a fellow Gunter, Win Morisaki was a reserved character who eventually warmed up to Wade in Ready Player One. Most notably, Morisaki is the lead vocalist of the J-pop boy band, PrizmaX. His other film credits include Shodo Girls, A Yell From Heaven, Parade, Thriller Restuarant, Listen to the Universe, and last year's Humanoid Monster Bela. Additionally, Morisaki is heard in Children of the Sea and the video game, Death Come True. Also, the actor voiced Mr. Mistoffelees in the Japanese dub of Cats.

Last year, Win Morisaki starred in The Real Thing. Most recently, Morisaki was seen in the Japanese drama Nishiogikubo Mitsuboshi Youshudou. Next, the actor will star in Cherry Blossom Tower.

Hannah John-Kamen (F’Nale Zandor)

As F'Nale Zandor, the steadfast leader of the Sixers, Hannah John-Kamen played a secondary antagonist in Steven Spielberg's Ready Player One. The actress is most commonly recognized for her performance as Ava Starr, i.e. Ghost, in Ant-Man and the Wasp, andis remembered for her performances as Yalena "Dutch" Yardeen in Syfy's Killjoys, Ornela in HBO's Game of Thrones, and the title role in Netflix's The Stranger. Also, she played the part of Wilhelmina "Helm" Watson in Peacock's short-lived series, Brave New World.

Additionally, Hannah John-Kamen lent her voice to the role of Naia in Netflix's The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. Furthermore, John-Kamen appeared in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Tomb Raider. She was heard in the Dark Souls video game series. Most recently, John-Kamen appeared in SAS: Red Notice. Next, the actress will be seen in Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City. Through six seasons and 53 episodes, HBO's Silicon Valley, created by Mike Judge, John Altschuler, and Dave Krinsky, became one of the most acclaimed and celebrated comedy shows in Peak Television. Through its smart writing, a keen understanding of Silicon Valley's weird tech bubble, and witty performances from our talented ensemble, this foul-mouthed, confidently lewd, but unsuspectingly clever program became a launching pad for several of its leading stars, including Thomas Middleditch, Kumail Nanjiani, and Matt Ross. It also resulted in another win for the lauded cable service.

Now that Silicon Valley is done, what is the cast up to now? Let's take a look and see.

Thomas Middleditch (Richard Hendricks)

As Richard Hendricks, the Hooli coder who quits his job to pursue Pied Piper, his own compression application, Thomas Middleditch gave an Emmy-nominated performance at the center of Silicon Valley. This is his calling card role, though he was previously in The Other Guys and The Wolf of Wall Street. During his time on Silicon Valley, Middleditch was also seen in Joshy, Search Party, The Final Girls, Tag, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and Zombieland: Double Tap, and heard in Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie, Kong: Skull Island, and Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero, which he co-wrote.

Following Silicon Valley's finale, Thomas Middleditch was heard in Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe, Solar Opposites, and B Positive. Next, he stars in The Trail of the Chicago 7. He also appeared in Netflix's improv series, Middleditch and Schwartz, as well as several Verizon Wireless ads.

Zach Woods (Donald "Jared" Dunn)

As the persistently optimistic, consistently anxious, and darkly mysterious Donald Dunn, better known as Jared, Zach Woods remains a loyal advisor, considerate friend, and heartbreakingly hilarious comrade throughout Silicon Valley. For my money, he's by-and-far the HBO sitcom's best, brightest, and most bleakly funny character.

Prior to this role, Zach Woods was better known for playing Gabe Lewis in The Office. He was also seen in Veep, In the Loop, The Other Guys, The Heat, and The Good Wife. During Silicon Valley's run, he also appeared on Playing House, The Post, Spy, and Ghostbusters. Following Silicon Valley, Woods joined HBO's Avenue 5. He also starred in The Angry Birds Movie 2, Big Mouth, Downhill, and a new episode of The Simpsons. Most recently, Woods made his directorial debut with the short film David, which he also produced. It premiered at last month's Toronto International Film Festival.

Martin Starr (Bertram Gilfoyle)

In the role of Bertram Gilfoyle, a system architect and network engineer for Pied Piper, Martin Starr brought great deadpan wit to this sardonic Satanist. His dry delivery was always a constant source of scorching wit with pinpoint accuracy. Before he joined the team, however, Starr was most well-known for his roles in beloved short-lived shows like Freaks & Geeks and Party Down. He also played prominent roles in Knocked Up, Adventureland, This is the End, Walk Hard, Superbad, Dead Snow: Red vs. Dead, Burning Love, and Adult Swim's NTSF:SD:SUV::.

During his time on the program, Martin Starr was also notably seen in Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home. The actor also appeared in episodes of Life in Pieces. Following Silicon Valley's tenure, Starr acted in Honey Boy and lent his voice to Netflix's Tacoma FD. Next, he stars in Samaritan.

Kumail Nanjiani (Dinesh Chugtai)

Before he found fame writing/starring in the acclaimed indie dramedy, The Big Sick, for which he was Oscar-nominated, Kumail Nanjiani was most notably known for playing Dinesh Chugtai, a talented programmer who's often the butt of the joke in Gilfoyle's pranks, in HBO's Silicon Valley. Prior to this performance, Nanjiani was seen in Franklin & Bash, Life As We Know It, The Five-Year Engagement, Burning Love, and Portlandia. He also lent his voice to Adventure Time.

During his time on Silicon Valley, Kumail Nanjiani also hosted Comedy Central's The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail and appeared in Goosebumps, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, and Hot Tub Time Machine 2. Following The Big Sick's success, Nanjiani played leading or prominent roles in Stuber, The Lego Ninjago Movie, The Lovebirds, Dolittle, and Men in Black: International. Next, he'll star in Marvel's forthcoming Eternals and The Independent.

Matt Ross (Gavin Belson)

Playing the antagonistic Galvin Belson, the corporate scrooge who serves as the founder and CEO of Hooli and the man who's constantly trying to bring Pied Piper down a few pegs, Matt Ross played a boisterous, mean-spirited, but often entertaining adversary in Silicon Valley. As an actor, Ross is known for American Pyscho, The Aviator, Good Night and Good Luck, American Horror Story, and Big Love. Of late, however, Ross has jumped behind the camera more frequently. In addition to directing a few episodes of Silicon Valley, Ross made his feature debut with 2012's 28 Hotel Rooms and he notably wrote and directed 2016's Oscar-nominated Sundance hit, Captain Fantastic. Next, he's attached to helm Tomorrow and Tomorrow.

T.J. Miller (Erlich Bachman)

As Erlich Bachman, a boastful, arrogant entrepreneur who partially owns Pied Piper and later becomes one of its board of directors, T.J. Miller was part of Silicon Valley's main cast for four seasons before he publicly exited the series in 2017. The actor-comedian notably starred in Cloverfield, Yogi Bear, She's Out of My League, Get Him to the Greek, Unstoppable, Rock of Ages, and Extract prior to his standout role in this HBO series.

During his time on the popular program, T.J. Miller was also seen or heard in Transformers: Age of Extinction, Deadpool, Big Hero 6, Office Christmas Party, How to Train Your Dragon 2, and The Emoji Movie. Following Silicon Valley, Miller made appearances in Deadpool 2, Underwater, and Ready Player One. Next, Miller is slated to star in The Stand-In, though a slew of controversies have derailed his acting career for the foreseeable future.

Amanda Crew (Monica Hall)

The associate partner under Peter Gregory (then eventually Laurie Bream) who formed a close friendship with Richard Hendricks and the Pied Piper crew throughout their turbulent journey, Amanda Crew's Monica Hall was a constant presence in Silicon Valley's six seasons. Making her film debut in Final Destination 3, Crew appeared in movies like Sex Drive and Charlie St. Cloud and the short-lived Canadian show Whistler before starring in this acclaimed HBO comedy series. She was also seen in John Tucker Must Die, She's the Man, The Haunting in Connecticut, Jobs, The Identical, The Age of Adeline, Race, Table 19, Smallville, and Suits, prior to, or during, her time on this show.

Following Silicon Valley, Amanda Crew starred in Tone-Deaf and Most Wanted, as well as the short films American Murderer and Thanks Nurses. She also directed music videos for Rhett George and Aly & AJ.

Josh Brener (Nelson "Big Head" Bighetti)

Better known as "Big Head," Josh Brener's Nelson Bighetti wasn't always comfortably placed into Silicon Valley's bouncing narrative, but he was always an appealing, good-natured, if often aloof, supporting character who was Richard Hendricks' best friend and Erlich's former tenant. Certainly, his often accidental moments of failure and triumph were a nice reprieve from Pied Piper's high stakes, make-or-break difficulties.

Outside of this HBO series, Josh Brener is also known for his roles in Maron and The Big Bang Theory. During his time in Silicon Valley, Brener was also heard in shows like Star Wars Rebels, Star Wars Resistance, and Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He can also be heard in DuckTales and 101 Dalmatian Street. Last year, Brener was seen in What Men Want and episodes of Modern Family and The Neighborhood. Next, Brener stars in the romantic drama, All My Life.

Christopher Evan Welch (Peter Gregory)

As Peter Gregory, the intelligent, socially awkward billionaire founder and CEO of Raviga Capital who agrees to invest in Richard Hendrick's start-up, Pied Piper, Christopher Evan Welch was set to be a major player in Silicon Valley. Quite unfortunately, however, the actor didn't make it past the first season's production. Welch was battling lung cancer during filming, and he tragically passed away on December 2nd, 2013. He was 48.

Outside of Silicon Valley, Christopher Evan Welch voiced narration for Vicky Christina Barcelona. He was also seen in The Master, Law & Order, The Stepford Wives, Synecdoche New York, Lincoln, The Sopranos, and several more movies and shows. This show was the actor's final role. Away from acting, Welch also sang in the rock band, Ottoman Bigwigs. He's most certainly missed.

Jimmy O. Yang (Jian-Yang)

Previously playing a recurring character, Jimmy O. Yang became a main cast member during Silicon Valley's second season. As Jian-Yang, he remained part of the lead ensemble until the show's conclusion. Often taking advantage of Elrich's ignorance, Jian-Yang was consistently the source of annoyance to his landlord, though he inspired several memorable b-plots. Certainly, Silicon Valley became the stand-up comedian's most high-profile acting part.

Through this show's popularity, Jimmy O. Yang found roles in Crazy Rich Asians, The Happytime Murders, Patriots Day, and The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part. This year, he starred in Like A Boss and Fantasy Island. He also played a recurring role in Space Force. Next, he'll be seen in The Opening Act and heard in Wish Dragon. He also published his memoir, How to American, in 2018, and released his first stand-up special on Amazon Prime in May.

Suzanne Cryer (Laurie Bream)

Following the unexpected passing of Peter Gregory, Suzanne Cryer's Laurie Bream takes over CEO duties at Raviga Capital. Her highly sophisticated but socially inept character was an unsuspecting and, in my opinion, underutilized comedic talent. Her quick wit and sharp performance resulted in many big laughs throughout. Prior to Silicon Valley, Cryer was an actress of the stage and screen who was best known for her role in Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place. During her time in Silicon Valley, Cryer was also seen in 10 Cloverfield Lane, Lucifer, and The Fosters. Following Silicon Valley, Cryer starred in episodes of All Rise and Hawaii Five-0.

Chris Diamantopoulos (Russ Hanneman)

Russ Hanneman is a scene-stealer. As the brash, cocky, foul-mouthed billionaire investor infatuated with his wealth, his big ego, and his pride, Chris Diamantopoulos played a fiery personality who was always a quick source for a good laugh. Prior to his recurring role in this series, Diamantopoulos was most notably seen playing Moe Howard in 2012's The Three Stooges. He also appeared in The Starter Wife, State of Mind, The Office, Up All Night, Arrested Development, About A Boy, Episodes, and more. And he starred in Broadway's Waitress in 2017. Most notably, Diamantopoulos is the voice of Mickey Mouse in Mickey Mouse. He also appeared in Good Girls Revolt and The Dangerous Book for Boys.

Following Silicon Valley, Chris Diamantopoulos starred in The Twilight Zone and Elementary, and he lent his voice to several recent or upcoming projects. Next, he stars in Red Notice.

Stephen Tobolowsky ("Action" Jack Barker)

Though he only appeared in the third and fourth seasons of Silicon Valley, Stephen Tobolowsky's "Action" Jack Barker provided an intriguing new role to Silicon Valley's mid-season juncture. An accomplished, celebrated character actor best known for Groundhog Day, Memento, Buried, Garfield: The Movie, Californication, Deadwood, Glee, Mississippi Burning, Single White Female, Spaceballs, and several more, Tobolowsky is an exceptionally distinguished performer, one who only continued to earn respect and acclaim by hosting the autobiographical podcast, The Tobolowsky Files. Outside of acting, Tobolowsky is also the author of three books, most recently including 2017's My Adventures With God. He also co-wrote David Byrne's True Stories.

Following Silicon Valley, Tobolowsky picked up a main role in One Day at a Time. He also plays a recurring role in Schooled and The Goldbergs. Next, he's slated to star in Butterfly in the Typewriter.

After 6 hilarious seasons, Silicon Valley made its final bow on HBO. Two years prior some wondered if the show would last that long after breakout star T.J. Miller very publicly exited on rather rocky terms with both the cast and crew. While he had nothing to do with the series from that point on, Miller recently revealed he kept up with the show, and had some thoughts on the series finale.

The Silicon Valley series finale jumped between the events of the present and 10 years into the future, and the audience was treated to what happened with Pied Piper's launch and the aftermath. It was quite the twist on the typical episode structure of the comedy, but one that T.J. Miller said he wholeheartedly appreciated as a fan.

The Silicon Valley series finale got a thumbs up from T.J. Miller, as did the rest of the series since his departure. Miller noted that his exit allowed more screen time for Amanda Crew's Monica, and Jimmy O. Yang's Jian-Yang, which he looked at as a positive in Silicon Valley's latter seasons.

T.J. Miller had some specific praise for Jimmy O. Yang, as Erlich Bachman's fate was seemingly tied to the actor's character. Jian-Yang learned of Erlich's windfall in Tibet towards the beginning of the series finale in the present, and then ten years later was found living under Erlich's name in a remote village. Jian-Yang had documentation to prove he was Erlich, but what happened to T.J. Miller's character? Miller doesn't know, but he told THR liked the way it all played out.

The mystery of what happened to Erlich Bachman is intriguing, as were the final moments of Silicon Valley. At the end of the documentary filming which took place ten years into the future, Richard revealed he still had one copy of the Pied Piper code (which they ultimately destroyed because it would've obliterated all privacy) on a flash drive. Richard went to look for the flash drive, but soon realized he has no idea where it was. The show closes with the implication the flash drive is missing, and could be used by someone down the stretch.

The ending opened the door for a Silicon Valley spinoff, which Alec Berg told THR was intentional. Berg followed up by saying he had no immediate plans or ideas for one, but with the thumb drive out in the ether and Erlich Bachman potentially alive, there's certainly a way for the series to return. Perhaps in a couple years audiences may hear of something coming to HBO, or maybe even HBO Max.

The Silicon Valley Season 4 Moment That Mike Judge Can't Believe Happened

Silicon Valley just ended its run on HBO after six seasons. T.J. Miller had a contentious exit after Season 4 and said he would never be back. But the character of Erlich Bachman did return in hilarious -- but dark! -- fashion for the series finale.

"Exit Event" referenced Erlich's name multiple times before we saw his face via a driver's license toward the end. Earlier in the episode, Jian-Yang (Jimmy O. Yang) approached Richard Hendricks (Thomas Middleditch) about getting free shares of Pied Piper. Richard said no, but Jian-Yang could still be an investor. Monica Hall (Amanda Crew) said he could buy a Piper Coin. He shut her down in typical Jian-Yang fashion, and she pointed out that "the coin we issued to Erlich was just sold for $20 million."

Jian-Yang asked Richard if "the mean lady" was right, is Erlich "now fat and rich"? Hearing yes, he asked where Erlich was. Richard said he didn't know, but "Tibet, maybe." Since we last saw Erlich in the opium den in Tibet where Gavin Benson left him.

That was the last we heard about Erlich in the Silicon Valley finale until closer to the end. Part of the series finale included a time jump 10 years into the future, with a documentary film crew following the Pied Piper crew. They toured the team's old house and that's when Erlich's name came up again. At that point, 10 years ahead of the events of the show, they thought Jian-Yang was dead, but Erlich was still alive. No one had talked to Erlich, though, so they wondered if he had burned through all of his money yet.

Cut to the documentary film crew out in the jungles, tracking down the location for Erlich Bachman. Some local kids tell him he's in a house. They walk in, and behind a screen is a man who is obscured by very obviously Jian-Yang. Asked if he's Erlich Bachman, he says yes and holds out Erlich's real driver's license.

The documentary crew seemed skeptical, so Jian-Yang says he has another idea... Cue sounds of a struggle and then a cutaway. So did Jian-Yang kill Erlich, steal his money, and then also kill the documentary crew?

Silicon Valley executive producer Alec Berg wrote and directed “Exit Event" and addressed the Erlich addition. Here's what he said when asked why they decided to bring the character back two years after T.J. Miller's explosive exit:

What about the ending with Jian-Yang? TVLine asked if there were hints that he was a murderer in the making. Alec Berg pointed out it's not quite that cut-and-dry:

Silicon Valley EP Alec Berg also spoke to EW, with the reporter noting that they initially had no expectations of seeing T.J. Miller as Erlich but then his name kept being mentioned. EW asked if there was ever talk of bringing Miller back, despite everything:

When it was announced that T.J. Miller would be leaving Silicon Valley, it was said to be by mutual agreement. After that, behind-the-scenes stories started coming out, including details on the reportedly difficult relationship between Miller and Thomas Middleditch. Miller seemed to like how Erlich was written out, arguing the character didn't below on the show anymore since no one liked him, so why wouldn't he leave?

Silicon Valley aired 53 episodes across six seasons from 2014 to 2019. It joins Veep as a major comedy leaving HBO this year. The show -- and maybe Erlich? -- will be missed.

Despite incredible popularity, there’s been a ton of confusion around the cinematic future of Deadpool. The Disney/Fox merger has seemingly caused delays in development for both Deadpool 3 and the X-Force film that will likely feature Ryan Reynolds’ iconic foul-mouthed hero. And one of the franchise’s stars, TJ Miller, has some thoughts about whether a threequel should even happen.

On November 15, TJ Miller was a guest on The Adam Carolla Show, where he discussed, among other things, his line of hot sauce and the future of the Deadpool franchise. The actor gave an update, to his understanding, as to where the film’s creators are in the development process, saying:

TJ Miller went on to explain that he has very specific concerns about how successful a subsequent Deadpool film could be -- at least, as far as quality is concerned. He said:

Despite TJ Miller’s uncertainty and reservations, it seems like the future of Deadpool 3 hinges more on “when” rather than “if.” Writer Rhett Reese made it clear that as far as he knows, the third chapter is set to come after the X-Force movie. Deadpool’s co-creator said it’s coming “soon.” And earlier this year, Ryan Reynolds revealed that he’s developing the series’ next installment.

What’s less clear is TJ Miller’s future with Deadpool. Since 2017, he’s faced accusations of bullying and sexual assault, on top of other legal problems. His chaotic stint and subsequent departure from Silicon Valley in 2017 also made headlines. And we know for sure that he won’t be a part of X-Force. While Weasel is most certainly woven into the fabric of the series if the Deadpool team chooses to keep TJ Miller on board, it will most certainly be controversial. So, for the time being, we’ll have to join him and everyone else, and just wait for more news.

Some of the juiciest drama happens behind-the-scenes of TV shows. Offhand, you can probably think of any number of actors/actresses from Downton Abbey to Game of Thrones and beyond with shocking exits. Sometimes the actors leave under let's say cloudy conditions, and other times it's the showrunners who create controversy with the writing of the exit. It's kind of amazing to think that we've had so many such departures just in the past five years. This list only scratches the surface -- starting with the exit that should be coming up next...

George Eads, MacGyver

George Eads is leaving MacGyver, with the show setting up an exit for his character Jack Dalton in the Friday, February 1 episode. Eads reportedly had an on-set altercation of some kind back in October and subsequently stormed off the Atlanta set. When he returned, he asked to be released from his contract, reportedly due to a desire to spend time with his daughter in Los Angeles. Eads also left a different CBS show under similar circumstances. He left CSI after 15 seasons, one season after an on-set problem with one of the writers. It seemed like he might quit, but he took a leave of absence and came back for another season before being written off.

Clayne Crawford, Lethal Weapon

Clayne Crawford's departure from Lethal Weapon was ugly from every angle. He was cut from the show before Season 3 due to alleged misconduct. The show decided to kill off Martin Riggs and give Damon Wayans' Roger Murtaugh a new partner. Some of Crawford's bad behavior was caught on camera, including clashes with Wayans, who didn't come across so good himself. In one instance, Crawford had a meltdown over filming scenes at an L.A. area pool. After that, he agreed to undergo counseling. Ultimately, his character was killed off and -- after a time jump -- Seann William Scott stepped in as the new co-lead Season 3. In late 2018, Wayans said he planned to leave the show after Season 3, but that may not be the case anymore. Then again, Fox has yet to renew the show for a Season 4, so it may be a moot point.

Thomas Gibson, Criminal Minds

Thomas Gibson's character Aaron Hotchner was written off Criminal Minds after the actor had an on-set altercation during production on Season 12. Gibson was directing an episode and had a heated incident with the episode's writer, allegedly kicking at him. He was fired. Hotch, a main character of the show, was written to have taken a consulting job off screen. Later, that was said to be a ruse, and he went into witness protection to get away from Mr. Scratch. Hotch could've returned to the BAU later, but fans were told that he decided to retire and be a full-time parent to Jack. It's not clear if Hotch will return for the Criminal Minds finale. That wasn't the first time something like that had happened; in 2010, Gibson allegedly pushed an assistant director, and had to take anger management counseling.

Danny Masterson, The Ranch

Danny Masterson was fired from Netflix's The Ranch during filming for Season 3, after five women came forward with rape allegations. His character, Rooster, appeared to leave town at the end of Part 5. But that wasn't the end of his story. When Part 6 premiered, Beau Bennett (Sam Elliott) got a call that Rooster's motorcycle was found at the bottom of a cliff. Apparently he went into a curve too fast, his brakes locked up, and he went over the guardrail. Rooster's body wasn't found, but he was presumed dead, and the family held a memorial for him. So they killed Rooster off, but also left the door open for the character. Danny Masterson asked fans to keep supporting The Ranch, even with Rooster "MIA."

Roseanne Barr, Roseanne

Roseanne had a hugely popular revival Season 10 when it returned in 2018. But Roseanne Barr has never been shy with her opinions, and she took a tweet a step too far for ABC. Since it was Roseanne's show, with her name on it, when ABC wanted to fire Barr after a racist tweet, the network decided to cancel the entire show. ABC boss Channing Dungey called Roseanne's tweet about Valerie Jarrett "abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values." The rest of the Roseanne cast, who were basically collateral damage in the drama, returned for a spinoff called The Conners.

Kevin Spacey, House of Cards

Kevin Spacey's personal house of cards came crashing down after Star Trek: Discovery and Rent star Anthony Rapp accused Spacey of trying to have sex with him when Rapp was just 14 years old. After that, several members of the House of Cards also came forward with stories about Spacey's alleged misconduct. Netflix decide to cut ties with Spacey, and cut him out of the final Season 6 entirely. Robin Wright's President Claire Underwood was instead the lead of the shortened final season. The show killed off Frank Underwood, and also buried the character somewhere he would never want to be. Spacey later revived his character for a bizarre holiday video called "Let Me Be Frank."

Erinn Hayes, Kevin Can Wait

This casting drama started when it was announced that Kevin James' former King of Queens co-star Leah Remini would be joining Kevin Can Wait full-time in Season 2. That news was followed by reports that Erinn Hayes was fired after Season 1. The show decided to kill off her character, Donna, wife of Kevin's lead character. That allowed Season 2 to focus on Kevin's relationship with Remini's Vanessa Cellucci. The change didn't sit well with fans, and Hayes didn't seem to be happy with it either. CBS decided to cancel the whole show after Season 2 anyway.

Connie Britton, Nashville

It was a huge shock to Nashville fans when Rayna James died due to injuries from a car crash. It seemed like Rayna was going to be fine ... until she wasn't. Fans were devastated. What was Nashville without Rayna James? Connie Britton said leaving was her decision. She felt it was time to exit Nashville after it found a new home at CMT for Season 5. But the show continued for another season on CMT, and Britton even brought back Rayna back in the finale for two scenes -- a flashback and the big musical number at the end.

Sophia Bush, Chicago P.D.

Sophia Bush left Chicago P.D. after playing Det. Erin Lindsay for four seasons. She was tight-lipped about her reasons at first, and only opened up more over time, talking about her unhappiness on the set. Bush said (via TVLine) that she experienced "a consistent onslaught barrage of abusive behavior." She said producers initially dismissed her complaints, and they even seemed irritated that she was asking them to investigate negative conditions on set. She gave them notice that if things didn't change by the end of Season 4, she'd quit. She threatened to sue the network and write an op-ed on why she was unhappy, but NBC ultimately allowed her an early exit from her seven-season contract.

T.J. Miller, Silicon Valley

T.J. Miller's Erlich Bachman was one of the main characters of HBO's Silicon Valley. When Miller announced he'd be leaving the show after Season 4 wrapped, plenty of reasons flew around as to why. Initially, Miller said he wanted to do more things like The Emoji Movie and have time to develop animated features. After that, more stories started coming out about his allegedly unprofessional behavior on set. He also reportedly didn't get along with star Thomas Middleditch. The more that came out, the more toxic and mutual the departure sounded.

Stana Katic, Castle

Stana Katic played co-lead Kate Beckett on Castle, so it was baffling to fans to hear she'd be leaving after Season 8 -- and not by her own choice. Nathan Fillion's contract was renewed, and he and some of the other stars were ready to return for Season 9. But how could Castle continue without Beckett? Rumors flew as to what happened, from recycled talk of tension between Katic and Fillion to discussion of various contracts. There was huge fan outcry, and ABC ultimately decided just to end the show with Season 8. Two different endings were filmed -- one with a cliffhanger if Season 9 had happened, and the happy ending that fans got to see. But the behind-the-scenes drama toward the end of the show's run was still fresh to fans, and soured the happy ending a bit.

Josh Charles, The Good Wife

So much of The Good Wife was the love story between Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies) and Will Gardner (Josh Charles). So it was a massive shock to see Will gunned down inside a courtroom in Season 5, Episode 15. Will was dead. Josh Charles had wanted to leave the show, and the creators wrote an open letter to fans to try and justify the end of Will's story. Charles' exit wasn't even the only dramatic one for the legal show. You may have heard about the rumored tension between Margulies and Archie Panjabi, who played Kalinda Sharma. When Panjabi left in Season 6, the show filmed a final scene for best friends Alicia and Kalinda. But there was speculation that the stars filmed their respective sides of the scene separately.

Patrick Dempsey, Grey's Anatomy

Grey's Anatomy is now in Season 15 but fans are still pissed about Derek's death. There was already behind-the-scenes drama suggesting Patrick Dempsey would be leaving the show, but the way they wrote out his character in Season 11 was just brutal. Derek had stopped to help some people in a car accident, and ended up hit himself. He was rushed to a hospital, but not Grey Sloan, and his doctor made a mistake that ended up in Derek's death. Shonda Rhimes defended the decision to kill off Derek, saying it was better than having him just disappear on Meredith Grey. At least this preserved their love story. Some fans said they would stop watching after Derek's death. Even some current viewers still don't want Mer to be with anyone else.

Columbus Short, Scandal

Columbus Short brought his own scandal to Scandal. He played Harrison Wright on the first three seasons, but confirmed he wouldn't return for Season 4. Harrison was ultimately killed in the Season 3 finale. Short opened up later about the personal drama that led to his departure, saying, "I'll be candid. I was struggling with drugs. I had a lot on my plate, and you know, I was using unhealthy ways to kind of self-medicate and deal with a lot of heavy duty stuff in my life." He was jailed after getting into a fight in a restaurant, and his wife filed for divorce following a misdemeanor spousal battery charge. Short said Scandal creator Shonda Rhimes and the cast knew about his drug and alcohol problems and tried to protect him and hold him down. "And that was one of the real reasons – they just wanted me to get my stuff together."

Chandler Riggs, The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead loves a shocking exit, but if there was any character that seemed safe, it was Carl Grimes. Chandler Riggs apparently though he'd be safe for a while too, so it was shocking for him as well as fans when Carl was killed off halfway through Season 8. Riggs said it was "devastating" for him and his family, especially since he had just bought a house in the Atlanta area where Walking Dead films. Riggs' father also spoke out on social media, slamming showrunner Scott M. Gimple for firing Chandler two weeks before the actor's 18th birthday, despite telling him they wanted him on the show for the next three years. The very next season, the show's main star, Andrew Lincoln, also exited the show -- although this time it was by choice, and AMC didn't kill off Rick Grimes, the network is giving him his own set of films.

Those are just a few of the controversial departures from the past few years. There are more -- and many more if we went back even further in time. At this point, we've just started the second month of 2019, but it will surely add more names to the list. That's the way of the TV biz. T.J. Miller made major headlines when he decided to leave Silicon Valley in May 2017, and his series of comments about everything from his character to his relationship with costar Thomas Middleditch shocked many of his fans. Some of his subsequent actions resulted in Miller gaining a less-than-wonderful reputation, and he recently faced accusations of bullying from former Silicon Valley actress Alice Wetterlund. Now Miller has come out to address the accusations, and he denies that he ever bullied her. Here's how he put it:

Alice Wetterlund played computer engineer Carla Walton on Seasons 2 and 3 of Silicon Valley, and she made a splash back in July when she took to Twitter to call T.J. Miller a "bully and petulant brat," even going so far as to claim that male cast members and others on set "enabled him and were complicit in his unprofessionalism." In Wetterlund's opinion (as shared via tweet) was that these people "can fuck off forever." T.J. Miller makes it clear in his comments on Jim Norton & Sam Roberts that he definitely does not remember Wetterlund's time on set the same way.

In fact, T.J. Miller has his own claim to make about Alice Wetterlund and her behavior on set. According to Miller, Wetterlund had a habit of interrupting Silicon Valley Miller's co-star Zach Woods, and he went on in the interview to clarify his statement to mean that she would interrupt during takes and even when she was off-screen. He's certainly not off-base when he says that there's a "disconnect" between how Wetterlund and Miller each recall her time on Silicon Valley.

No members of the Silicon Valley cast apparently made any public comments about Alice Wetterlund's behavior on set while she was working on the show, and I have to wonder if T.J. Miller was only so candid about his feelings regarding Wetterlund and her accusations because he left Silicon Valley when he felt the time was right to move on and focus on other projects. Current Silicon Valley stars haven't weighed in on the situation the way Miller has.

If T.J. Miller was still on the show, I imagine Silicon Valley could be the target of public opinion backlash. Although Alice Wetterlund did mention Miller's costars enabling his alleged behavior on set, she didn't name any of them specifically or name any specific instances of bullying on set that might cause the show trouble as it continues on HBO. Only time will tell if Silicon Valley faces any more allegations from previous members of the cast.

Silicon Valley was renewed for Season 6 along with another HBO comedy earlier this year, so fans can count on seeing more of the characters not played by T.J. Miller back on the small screen. Even though Ryan Reynolds is skeptical that Deadpool 3 will happen, that doesn't mean Deadpool 2 will be the last we see of the Merc with the Mouth on the big screen. After resting in development hell for years, X-Force is finally moving forward, and along with Wade Wilson, who's putting the militaristic team together in his sequel adventure, the movie will also bring back Cable and Domino. However, Ryan Reynolds has confirmed that T.J. Miller's Weasel, who's appeared in both Deadpool movies, will not be back for the X-Force festivities.

Deadpool 2 wrapped up principal photography last October, and since then T.J. Miller has not only been accused of assaulting a woman during a sexual encounter back in 2001 during his college days, he was also charged last month for calling in a fake bomb threat while traveling on an Amtrak train from Washington D.C. to New York City in March, for which he could be sentenced to five years in prison if convicted. While Ryan Reynolds wouldn't comment on the controversies surrounding Miller during his interview with The New York Times, the actor did say that Miller will not appear in X-Force. It's unclear if these controversies factored into Weasel not being included in X-Force or if it was always the plan for the character not to show up, though I can't Miller's recent press helps matters.

Within the Deadpool mythology, Weasel (real name Jack Hammer) is one of the more important characters, typically serving as Deadpool's best friend, although their dynamic is such as that Deadpool frequently mistreats Weasel and Weasel is so self-interested that his schemes often screw Deadpool over. Within the X-Men film universe, T.J. Miller's Weasel runs a bar that is frequented primarily by mercenaries, including Wade Wilson pre-body scarring. After he gained his special abilities and a face that looked like an avocado had sex with an older, more disgusting avocado, Wade visited Weasel to tell him he was still alive. While their friendship is more healthy than it is in the comics, when it came time for Wade to rescue Vanessa from Ajax and Angel Dust's clutches, Weasel didn't tag along simply because he didn't want to.

So far all we know about Weasel's role in Deadpool 2 is that he'll be helping Wade Wilson put together the X-Force, but beyond that, it's unclear how he'll fit into the rest of the story. Maybe he'll be killed off during the conflict with Cable and the DMC, or maybe he'll be lucky enough to survive these events intact. Either way, given Wade's habit of breaking the fourth wall, I wouldn't put it past him commenting on T.J. Miller's absence during X-Force.

Deadpool 2 hits theaters on May 18, and while X-Force, which is being written and directed by Drew Goddard, hasn't received a release date yet, it's expected to begin production in October. T.J. Miller has gotten himself into trouble before, but this time, he could be even more serious than ever. On Monday night, as it is being reported, the former Silicon Valley actor was arrested by FBI agents at the LaGuardia Aiport in New York over a false Amtrak bomb threat he made in March. The charges placed against him carries a maximum five-year imprisonment term. So, there's unfortunately a chance we might not hear from T.J. Miller for a little while.

TMZ got the exclusive report about what is allegedly happening to the beloved actor. T.J. Miller is reportedly charged with "intentionally conveying to law enforcement false information about an explosive device on a train traveling to Connecticut." The comic was released after he appeared before U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer in New Haven on Tuesday. He posted bond at $100,000, but his problems are certainly not behind him right now.

To give some background, on March 18th T.J. Miller called 911 while he was riding an Amtrak train from Washington D.C. to New York City-- where the comedian lives. He reported that a woman with brown hair and a scarf had a bomb inside her bag. When pressed for more details by an Amtrak police officer, Miller claimed the woman kept checking her bag and that she seemingly wanted to get off the train and leave the bag she was holding behind.

It was later revealed that T.J. Miller gave the cops the wrong train number. As a result, a completely different train was stopped in Connecticut, which was evacuated and searched with no results. This fiasco from T.J. Miller caused some massive Amtrak delays, in addition to many headaches from everyone involved. T.J. Miller reportedly caused 926 man hours-worth of delays. He also disrupted several law enforcement agencies and bomb squads in both Connecticut and New York City. It is also suggested that T.J. Miller might not have been completely sober during this ordeal.

A train attendant claims T.J. Miller consumed two glasses of wine and two double Scotch and sodas during his train ride. Miller also reportedly had an argument with the lady he reported as the potential attacker, in what was deemed a grudge between the two passengers. The comedic actor was alleged to be belligerent and loud during the train ride, and also exchanged some profanity.

Ultimately there was no evidence of an explosive device found on the lady's person, and the train conductor doesn't back up T.J. Miller's claims that the lady looked suspicious. During the infamous call that T.J. Miller made to the police authorities, he made the following statement:

T.J. Miller was in Canada over the weekend performing a series of stand-up shows before he was arrested by the FBI. The actor was last seen in Ready Player One, which is currently playing in theaters now. This is not the first time T.J. Miller has gotten himself into legal trouble. Most recently, the comedian had assault charges labeled against him by an Uber driver dropped. We'll keep you posted on the latest developments in Miller's case.

After spending many, many years in development hell, Deadpool proved itself to be a monster hit. While there were some doubts surrounding the film, specifically the R-rating, it wound up being a big success with critics while also becoming the biggest domestic hit in the X-Men franchise. Naturally, a sequel is on the way, and the Merc With The Mouth is bringing two key characters from to comics to join him in the madness.

So what is Deadpool 2 going to be all about? Who is going to be involved? What characters will be returning? How will it connect to the larger X-Men universe? What Have We Seen From Deadpool 2?

Well, after months of teases we finally have a full trailer for Deadpool 2 that shows off just how nutty the second installment in the franchise is going to be. And, we wouldn't have it any other way! The trailer finally explains the story for the film, along with giving us a good look at some new characters.

What Is Deadpool 2's Release Date?

Deadpool had a crazy amount of success when it was released with what isn't typically considered a blockbuster release date. Arriving for Valentine's Day weekend 2016, it didn't have much in the way of competition, and, as a result, managed to crush at the box office. As it happens, however, Deadpool 2 won't be one of those sequels that gets a release date in the same window as its predecessor. Instead, Fox is giving the follow-up a major spot in their early summer lineup, and are prepared to have the film released on May 18, 2018.

It was set to be an interesting theatrical release for Deadpool 2, partially because it would have been part of 20th Century Fox's first year with three X-Men franchise titles. Josh Boone's The New Mutants was scheduled to hit cinemas a few months earlier, coming out on April 13, 2018, but was recently pushed to February 22, 2019. The Merc With The Mouth sequel will still be followed by X-Men: Dark Phoenix on November 2, 2018.

Of course, the big news with the Deadpool 2 release date is that it puts the film in direct competition with Solo: A Star Wars Story, which drops a week later. We can see in a few months how these two films battle it out in the theaters.

What Is Deadpool 2's Rating

Prior to the start of Deadpool's production, the film's rating was one of the most contentious elements of development. Director Tim Miller, writers/producers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and star Ryan Reynolds were all insistent on the comic book feature being R-rated, but this approach was met with resistance by the executives at 20th Century Fox. Eventually a deal was struck that allowed the R-rating in exchange for a smaller budget, but it most definitely worked out in the project's favor: It is now ranks as the most successful R-rated movie of all time. And if you think they're changing course for Deadpool 2, you're crazy.

The MPAA doesn't actually assign a rating to a film until there is a cut that is ready to head to theaters, but we already know what the filmmakers will be aiming for in the making of Deadpool 2. There will be plenty of bloody violence, an abundance of cursing, and maybe even a bit of sex and nudity. Count on it.

The Director

It was all the way back in back in April 2011 that director Tim Miller was hired to direct Deadpool - and he was ultimately an integral force in getting the movie made. Because of his background in visual effects (he's the founder of Blur Studio), Miller was able to make the Merc With The Mouth solo film for a fraction of the price of a normal superhero feature, and still give it high production value. Unfortunately, creative differences led Tim Miller to walk away from Deadpool 2 in October 2016, and leave Fox and the producers searching for a new name.

The search didn't take long. Only a few weeks after Tim Miller announced his departure, we started hearing rumors about John Wick co-director David Leitch taking the gig (those stories were confirmed in mid-November 2016). Leitch, an experienced stunt man and stunt coordinator, made his debut as a director alongside Chad Stahelski with John Wick, but since then worked on his own solo feature with summer 2017's Atomic Blonde. Much like how Miller brought an expertise in visual effects to the making of the first Deadpool, it's expected that it was Leitch's gifts in the action department that primarily appealed to the more comedy and character-centric talents of star Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.

The Story

In this day and age, a hero's first solo film is typically dedicated to the origin story. While it's a bit tired at this point, it does make a good degree of sense given that it's the best way to introduce these super characters to a wider audience. This was the approach taken by Deadpool, as the movie told the non-linear tale of how mercenary Wade Wilson went through experimental treatments to cure his cancer and wound up with incredible healing abilities and a revenge mission. Now that that's all out of the way, however, there are an infinite number of possibilities for screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick to explore in Deadpool 2.

Two significant presences were confirmed for the sequel pretty early on: Cable and Domino. Both characters are tightly connected to Deadpool, having played significant roles in the issue where he was first introduced, New Mutants #98. The basics of the plot for Deadpool 2, though, were quite a secret until the late March 2018 debut of the trailer. In it, we were shown that Deadpool will be trying to stop Cable, who's arrived from the future, from killing a child with some awesome mutant powers. In his efforts to keep the kid alive, Deadpool will get help from friends old and new, as he'll be relying on assistance from members of the, newly formed, X-Force.

Deadpool

Thanks to Tim Miller's Deadpool, now all of you know the legendary story of the motor-mouthed, sociopathic Wade Wilson (played by Ryan Reynolds). In hopes of continuing a life with his one true love, Vanessa (Morena Baccarin), he chose to undergo experiments that would cure cancer that had spread to every vital organ in his body. Instead, the horrific treatments designed to turn him into a mutant led to the skin all over his body becoming incredibly scarred (making him incredibly self-conscious), and it activated a stunning healing factor that left him both invincible and basically immortal. At the end of the movie we saw him get sweet, bloody vengeance against those who tortured him, and reunite with his love... so what's next?

Having been one of Marvel Comics' most popular characters of the last 26 years, there is plenty of material from which Deadpool 2 can draw -- and some of it is very, very strange. In his time on the page, the Merc With The Mouth has saved the world from aliens that wish to rid the Earth of free will, stopped a horde of zombified former American presidents, and even found occasion to travel around the multiverse to kill every single version of himself in existence (or at least one version of Deadpool did). As Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick confirmed to CinemaBlend, fans shouldn't expect things to get too weird or complex, but given the characters involved, we should at least expect some degree of bizarreness. Case in point:

Cable

Cable is a character who possesses one of the most complicated backstories in all of Marvel Comics. First introduced to the world in 1986, he was retroactively established as the child of Cyclops and Madelyne Pryor (a clone of Jean Grey), and due to machinations involving the villainous Apocalypse and Mister Sinister he was infected with a deadly techno-virus. With no other options available to save the baby (named Nathan Summers), it was agreed that he would be sent to the future where a cure was available. Being a mutant with incredible telekinetic and telepathic abilities, he grew up to be incredibly strong (taking on the name Cable), and eventually time traveled to the past in order to try and right the world and prevent a horrific future. Now that we know he's come back to our time in Deadpool 2 to put a stop to a young mutant, it's possible that the child leads to the very future Cable is desperate to change.

After months of speculation, it was officially announced in April 2017 that Josh Brolin has signed on to play the part of Cable in Deadpool 2. And if the thought of the Oscar nominated-actor being in a comic book movie feels familiar, there's an extremely good reason: he's been in a ridiculous number of them. Not only does his filmography include Jonah Hex, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, Men In Black 3, and Oldboy, but he is currently playing the incredibly important role of Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (he already worked on Guardians of the Galaxy, and has been working on his part in The Avengers: Infinity War). Still, Brolin's proven talent has us very excited that he will bring a different energy to Cable that will surprise and delight us all.

The first official image of Cable in Deadpool 2, featured above, was released in August 2017, and has earned wide-spread fan approval. Die-hards were hoping for a metal arm, a cybernetic eye, a gigantic gun, big muscles, and a whole lotta' pouches, and that's exactly what the movie is delivering. We still have some big questions about the teddy bear attached to his hip (as seen in this image), but we'll patiently wait for something this exciting.

Domino

While not quite as complicated as Cable's, Domino has an interesting origin in the comics as well. As a character, she debuted alongside Deadpool in New Mutants #98 - though it was eventually revealed that readers didn't actually meet the REAL Domino at that time. Instead, the public and the heroes in the book series were duped by none other than the shapeshifter Copycat a.k.a. Vanessa (the character played by Morena Baccarin in Deadpool). It was only after that revelation that Marvel fans got to meet the real Domino - and we've been in love with her ever since.

The result of a government breeding program trying to grow the ultimate mutant weapon, Domino has a special gift that on the surface looks like dumb luck. In actuality, she has a special subconscious telekinetic ability that changes things in her environment to best work out in her favor (enemy guns jamming, ricochets hitting perfect angles, heavy stuff falling down, etc.) It's a super power we've never really seen portrayed on the big screen, and it will be actress Zazie Beetz bringing Domino to life.

While you could measure a football field with the list of names mentioned as being up for the part of Domino, Zazie Beetz emerged as the winner in March 2017. The 26-year-old actress doesn't have much of a filmography, with only a few years of professional acting under her belt, but she has already earned some critical acclaim - specifically from her time as Van on the award-winning FX series Atlanta. The most recent trailer seems to indicate that Domino will be helping Wade Wilson protect the mutant child that Cable is after in Deadpool 2, and from the fantastic action sequences we see her in it looks like she's ready to kick ass.

Vanessa

As Deadpool explains to the audience in the opening scene of his movie, his story is entirely driven by love -- specifically his relationship with the lovely prostitute Vanessa (played by Morena Baccarin). His feelings for her drive every element of the plot, from the fact that Wade undergoes experimental procedures to have more time with her, to his revenge plot being compelled by his need to look normal before seeing her again. Fortunately, Deadpool ends on a happy note, with Wade and Vanessa kissing and swooning to WHAM!'s "Careless Whisper."

We can't say exactly where Deadpool and Vanessa's relationship will go in Deadpool 2, but it has been confirmed that she will be back and she and Wade look to be together for at least some of the film. When we spoke to screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, we learned that making the character more like her comic book counterpart -- the aforementioned shapeshifting mutant Copycat -- is still on the table, so it's possible that will come into play.

Weasel

In Deadpool, T.J. Miller played the first big screen adaptation of Weasel, known to fans of the comics as Wade Wilson's best friend and arms dealer. The character was slightly changed for the big screen, as the comic book counterpart is merely a frequent attendee of Sister Margaret's School For Wayward Children, as opposed to the proprietor. Still, Weasel had Deadpool's back and ear right up until the final fight -- which he basically wussed out of to hang with Blind Al.

Weasel will be back in Deadpool 2, ready to provide some guns and harsh insults. We don't know any specifics about his part at this time - he was only briefly featured in the first trailer, and the most recent one only shows him trading jokes with Wade - but if T.J. Miller gets his way, than we will see him get involved in the action a bit more. In an interview, the actor talked about his character's desire for money over bullets in Tim Miller's film, and noted that he'd like to fire off a few rounds in the sequel. We have to wait and see whether or not he gets his wish - though that aforementioned single shot from the debut footage does have him cocking a pistol.

Negasonic Teenage Warhead

Unlike Vanessa, Weasel, Ajax and Colossus, Negasonic Teenage Warhead was actually a late addition to the Deadpool lineup of characters -- specifically included to show off some cool mutant powers. Though she is a psychic in the comics, Brianna Hildebrand's performance changes the mutation and instead has her able to focus and generate explosive forces (which is an ability more in line with her name anyway). At the end of Deadpool, she wound up killing Angel Dust while saving Colossus, and the two walked off at the end to return to Xavier's mansion.

Because she survived the plot, Negasonic Teenage Warhead was always a candidate to return in Deadpool 2, and her part in the sequel has been confirmed. While we don't know anything about the part she will have in the larger narrative, actress Brianna Hildebrand has said that she will be slightly matured while maintaining her punk kid edge (the haircut certainly sells that), and the debut trailer definitely suggests she hasn't lost her attitude. And who knows? While the newest trailer shows her in a traditional costume for one of the X-Men, perhaps she could one day be used as a core member of X-Force.

Blind Al

The relationship between Deadpool and Blind Al was certainly one of the comedic highlights of the 2016 blockbuster. Portraying the mercenary's hostage/roommate, Leslie Uggams put on a fantastic performance and had wonderful back-and-forth with Ryan Reynolds. And while Blind Al isn't a character that has been around for Deadpool's entire run in the comics, she will be back and playing a part in Deadpool 2.

Leslie Uggams has personally confirmed that Blind Al will be back in action in Deadpool 2 - but it's not quite clear what kind of role we can expect her to play. After all, one would guess that Wade Wilson would probably want to live with Vanessa now that they are reunited, and that means he doesn't really need a roommate. Perhaps Vanessa will refuse to kick her to the curb, and they will all just bunk together in Al's place.

Dopinder

To this point we've entirely focused on the characters in Deadpool who originated from the comics, but Deadpool 2 has also made room for one of Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick's original creations. While Dopinder, played by Karan Soni, only appeared in a couple scenes, fans instantly grew attached to the feckless cabbie, and that love earned him a place in the sequel. Last time around he basically operated as a wheelman for Deadpool, but the first trailer looks like he will wind up being more involved with the action in the follow-up. Hopefully we will also learn how he wound up avoiding jail time for kidnapping his cousin Bandhu and locking him in the trunk of his taxi.

Julian Dennison's Mystery Character

Deadpool 2 will obviously be introducing a number of interesting characters to the canon of the X-Men universe, but few are more enticing than the role played by young actor Julian Dennison - particularly after the movie's first trailer. The young actor, who delivered his breakthrough performance opposite Sam Neill in Taika Waititi's Hunt For The Wilderpeople, came aboard the film in late June 2017, and while his character has not yet been identified, our first look at him (seen above) is intense. He looked like some kind of demonic villain setting fire to some kind of church, but the second trailer revealed that he's likely a young mutant, and that Cable is absolutely out to get rid of the kid, probably in the hopes of stopping a terrible future from coming to pass. We still don't know the character's name, though, or why Cable is convinced he needs to die.

The Budget

Deadpool was made for a reported $58 million, which is a fraction of what most superhero blockbusters cost these days (The Avengers: Age of Ultron, for example, was a $250 million movie). Because of this, the movie's box office totals are even more significant, as more of the dollars rolling in are pure profit. You'd think that this would inspire 20th Century Fox to throw a whole lot more money at Deadpool 2, but according to the screenwriters/producers, going bigger with the sequel isn't really something in which they're interested. Rhett Reese has said in interviews that the next film won't be chasing a $150 million budget because it doesn't really fit the eponymous anti-hero to put him in a giant blockbuster.

From a creative standpoint, one could also see a more limited budget being a strong tool for the brains behind Deadpool 2. After all, the less money the project has, the less pressure and attention it's going to receive from meddling studio executives who may or may not have what's best for the character and fans in mind. By staying on the smaller side and making smart decisions, Deadpool 2 can remain true to its source material.

X-Force

When Marvel fans think about the team-up of Deadpool, Domino, and Cable, they typically think of them as members of the team known as X-Force. This is in large part due to the fact that it was the New Mutants line of comics in which they were all introduced that eventually became Marvel Comics's first X-Force title. Given that we know 20th Century Fox has an X-Force movie in development, it makes sense that Deadpool 2 would take steps in that direction - but don't expect it to be a two-hour commercial.

When I spoke with Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, they told me that they don't have any plans on overloading Deadpool 2 with a lot of future planning - but X-Force most definitely is something that is coming together down the pike in a few years (along with Deadpool 3). Fox has been working on the project since San Diego Comic-Con 2013, when it was announced that Kick-Ass 2 director Jeff Wadlow was putting the team-up movie together. The work has changed a whole lot since then, and now it is Reese and Wernick who are helping design how it all comes together - with Cabin in the Woods director Drew Goddard attached to helm.

Luckily, the most recent trailer for Deadpool 2 revealed that we are, in fact, getting even more members of X-Force in the film, and the fact that Deadpool himself appears to put the team together to try to stop Cable. In addition to Domino and Cable (who, for obvious reasons, won't be a member of X-Force during the main events of this movie), we're also treated to Terry Crews as Jesse Bedlam, Rob Delaney as a potential member named Peter and Bill Skarsgard, who looks to be playing Shatterstar.

Connection To The X-Men Universe

In Deadpool, the fact that there are only two X-Men characters around is openly mocked by the Merc With The Mouth, as he is shocked by just how empty Xavier's School For Gifted Youngsters seems to be. Given that the budget for Deadpool 2 is going to stay limited, we don't expect Professor X's full team to show up in the sequel, but we do anticipate that it will continue to have ties to the rest of the X-Men universe. And, the newest trailer does show off a character who appears to be X-Men member Surge, so it's clear that the movie is using its X-Men ties as much as possible.

Deadpool proved to be the X-Men franchise film with both the biggest opening weekend and highest domestic gross, and this fact will surely not be lost on the heads at 20th Century Fox. Though their PG-13/R ratings may clash a bit, the studio will surely want to use all of the positivity surrounding Deadpool and have it more closely associated with the other X-Men titles on which they are working. Exactly how far this will go probably won't be revealed until the film is actually in theaters, but it's not hard to expect a significant connection.

The "No Good Deed" Short Film

While Ryan Reynolds didn't get the opportunity to play Deadpool in any 2017 feature films, he did work with the Deadpool 2 filmmakers to deliver fans a special treat. When Logan opened in theaters nationwide, screenings were preceded by the David Lietch-directed short film "No Good Deed," which features Wade Wilson/Deadpool trying to be a superhero following a not-so-quick costume change in a phone booth. It's not specifically Deadpool 2 related, as it exists as an entirely separate thing, but it is still a hell of a lot of fun!

A dispute between T.J. Miller and the Uber driver he allegedly assaulted has reportedly been settled. As it was recently revealed, they resolved their differences on the matter and came to an agreement. They'll go their separate ways, although it's currently unclear what the terms of their agreement were.

TMZ has the latest T.J. Miller update. According to legal documents the site obtained, the case will not be heading to court. While the details of their settlements were not publicly disclosed, one could infer that the deal involved a giant wad of cash on Miller's part. But that's not confirmed, of course. The attack was believed to have been inflicted by the comedian and Silicon Valley star because the Uber driver, Wilson Deon Thomas III, was a supporter of President Donald Trump. The incident-in-question occurred back in December 2016, only a month after the results of the 2016 Presidential election.

To back things up a bit, T.J. Miller was arrested for allegedly striking William Deon Thomas III between the head and shoulder after he admitted he supported Donald Trump. They had a dispute on the matter, which swiftly turned violent when T.J. Miller attacked the man driving the car. According to Thomas, Miller was also under the influence of nitrous oxide Whip-Its at the time, something T.J. Miller has venomously denied since.

While T.J. Miller avoided criminal charges at the time, he was facing a civil suit from William Deon Thomas III until they came to an agreement of some sort last week. We might never know what that agreement was, but it's clear these two have put the past between them and moving on.

Looking ahead for T.J. Miller, the actor/comedian has quite a few projects lined up. He'll next be seen in Steven Spielberg's Ready Player One in a minor role (at least, if it's fateful to the book) as i-R0k. He'll also be seen reprising his role as Weasel in Deadpool 2, a.k.a. The Untitled Deadpool Sequel, when it hits theaters on May 18th. Miller will also be seen in Underwater with Kristen Stewart whenever that hits theaters later this year. Finally, the the comedic actor is also slated to return as Tuffnut Thorston for How to Train Your Dragon 3, which is scheduled to hit theaters on March 1st, 2019.

Don't expect to see T.J. Miller in the newest season of Silicon Valley, however, which premieres on March 25th. The comedian left the hit, acclaimed series last year, and it doesn't sound like he exited the HBO series on good terms with the creators, cast or crew members. According to show creator Mike Judge in a recent interview, T.J. Miller was known to show up on set late, without knowing his lines beforehand, and running production behind. He was also said to be drunk or imbibed on different drugs, which is something the comedian denied in the same piece. Miller claims his extensive and very busy stand-up schedule is what kept him tried and disorganized, which is why he often showed up late and in poor condition whenever he arrived.

Outside of its widespread critical acclaim, HBO's Silicon Valley has dealt with its fair share of criticisms in its first four seasons, from the male-heavy cast to slightly repetitive story beats. But the comedy caused its biggest ruckus when comedian and star T.J. Miller left the show after Season 4 wrapped, with multiple reasons floating around for the impetus. Now, creator Mike Judge and others have opened up a bit about what Miller's behavior was reportedly like on set, and how it likely paved the road to his departure. In Judge's words:

Mike Judge's comments there, along with those of others sources that spoke with THR, paint a picture where T.J. Miller isn't the most dependable or punctual co-star to have around. He was allegedly known to just not show up sometimes, and when he would, it often would often be whenever everyone had already been waiting on him. It's stated that table reads would start up late, and schedules would have to be flipped around to make up for it. What's more, those table readings would sometimes be hindered even more when sources said it was apparent Miller hadn't even looked at the script before that day.

And then there's the intoxicant element. Show sources claim that T.J. Miller's willingness to imbibe on alcohol and other substances was no secret to everyone, and it's alleged that T.J. Miller would occasionally appear to be under the influence whenever he would arrive on set. And he would apparently fall asleep between takes on occasion, which caused some scheduling snafus. Overall, it was reportedtly a huge problem for all involved, since no one knew which version of Miller would show up for work. There definitely were days when everything was peachy keen, and Miller's comedic talents would be on full display without issue. But there were no guarantees, and it apparently caused some strife with a co-star or two.

T.J. Miller, who'd initially explained his public quitting away by saying the public needed a "villain," combatted some of the above claims and offered up his own explanation about why his behavior was erratic at times during Silicon Valley's run.

A constant lack of sleep would certainly explain some of Miller's issues, but even if they could all be washed away, that wouldn't have made it any easier for the writers to keep giving his character captivating stories. In the sea of Silicon Valley's tech-centric goons and industry vets, Miller's Erlich Bachman was a bong-toting pitchman, so there weren't a lot of places left to take the character. So it seemed to make perfect sense to write him into the abyss at the end of Season 4, though Mike Judge claims he did offer Miller three Season 5 episodes to close things out for Erlich. (Miller turned that down.)

Few shows are ever entirely safe from cancellation on the small screen, and oddball comedies are often hit-or-miss, even on networks known for delivering laughs in unexpected way. Fans of T.J. Miller's animated series The Gorburger Show are in for some bad news, as it is the latest series to get the axe. Comedy Central officially cancelled The Gorburger Show after only one season of just eight episodes.

T.J. Miller was attached to The Gorburger Show in a number of ways, serving as executive producer, co-creator, and voice of the giant blue space monster host who invaded a Japanese morning talk show. The premise established that the monster known as Gorburger was holding the staff of the talk show hostage as he interviewed various celebrities in an attempt to figure out what it means to be human. The show kicked off on Comedy Central on April 9 and concluded its run on June 4. Season 1 featured appearances from Larry King, Rob Corddry, Tig Notaro, Reggie Watts, and Drew Pinsky.

The Gorburger Show actually began as a comedy for Funny or Die, running for a total of 19 episodes over two seasons. The pilot for a series on the small screen was initially produced for HBO in 2015. The project ultimately landed at Comedy Central earlier this year, and viewers got the chance to see a new take on the Funny or Die series. Unfortunately for everybody involved, viewers evidently did not respond well enough to justify another season.

News of the cancellation broke on the exact same day that T.J. Miller was accused of sexual assault and violence by a woman. The alleged incident took place in 2001 while both attended classes at George Washington University. The woman (who has chosen to remain anonymous) claims that Miller strangled her and punched her in the mouth while they were having sex, along with nonconsensual penetration.

This is hardly the first claim of sexual misconduct leveled at a big name in showbiz in the last few months. That said, a Comedy Central representative has claimed that the decision to cancel The Gorburger Show was made prior to the accusations of sexual assault. In fact, THR reports that the decision to not to move forward with a second season of The Gorburger Show was made back in July and was simply not announced until today.

T.J. Miller made headlines earlier this year when he very suddenly left HBO's Silicon Valley and gave a series of bizarre interviews in the aftermath, ranging from opining that he departed so publicly because it's "more important to be polarizing than neutralizing" to revealing that he and Silicon Valley co-star Thomas Middleditch didn't really get along. Miller won't exactly be lacking for work even without The Gorburger Show and and Silicon Valley, as he has roles in Ready Player One, How to Train Your Dragon 3, and Deadpool 2.

It's an idea that was practically laughed off the moment it was announced. A movie based on emojis from our cellphones. And yet, The Emoji Movie almost proves its detractors wrong. The film is given the building blocks for what could have been a serviceable, but not terribly exciting film, and that would have been victory enough. At least, that was until they wrote a joke. Then another joke. Followed by a multitude of jokes, all of which were allowed to be kept in the film. Naturally, with so many jokes, something had to be tossed out, and indeed it was. Unfortunately for our sake, that something was called "the story."

Gene (T.J. Miller) is a Meh in the emoji set of a young boy's phone. This changes pretty fast, as he is fired after only his first day on the job, due to his inability to hold a Meh face for too long. What started as a mistake turns into an adventure, as our young emoji teams up with fellow expressive Hi-5 (James Corden) in order to find Jailbreak (Anna Faris), the elusive icon that could fix everything.

There's a part of me that goes into films like The Emoji Movie hoping that the marketing campaign's rather lackluster ads are an inaccurate representation of the film I'll eventually watch. Sometimes, it works. This movie isn't one of those times. In fact, the film manages to sink below the level of expectation set in those advertisements. At every turn, the material doesn't resist an opportunity for an easy joke, stringing a lot of little payoffs in a row without any setup throughout the film. Though when it does attempt a story, it's pretty much paint-by-numbers platitudes without any sort of narrative drive behind it.

But the greatest crime The Emoji Movie commits is the fact that its characters are exceedingly boring. Even with a blink-and-you'll-miss-them lineup of notable celebrity voices, there's no depths to these figures other than the emoji they represent. If our main character, as well as they world they inhabit, was written better, this might have worked. But without any sort of perceived movement or growth throughout the running time of the film, these static gags just serve to annoy.

During the standard moment in which it looks like the world of the Emoji is going to be wiped out for good, you don't even feel any empathy or sadness for these characters facing their demise. Also, this lack of character extends to the human side of the equation as well, as the story of our "user" trying to romance a girl, despite his supposedly error-prone phone, doesn't add the urgency it's trying to impart on The Emoji Movie's story. Its resolution is even more ridiculous.

Going back to the subject of advertisements, this movie is full of plugs and name drops of various apps you'd experience on your phone, and it's not subtle. If these moments were woven into the fabric of a proper story, they could have been called gratuitous at best. But in the context of The Emoji Movie, it's a jarring experience that makes you feel like you're playing on your phone, rather than watching a movie.

I was really hoping The Emoji Movie would work. Considering how much it wants to be Wreck-It Ralph, or even Tron, this film merely reminds you that these better films exist, and have handled similar subject matter in a much more superior form. Come to think of it, this film feels like an extremely watered down, and much more crass, version of Ralph, as Gene fails to reach the heights that Ralph's character did during his hero's quest.

It's hard to tell if your kids will like The Emoji Movie, as it's not a film that really reaches for the youngest of its demographic, and the tweens this film is aimed at will probably see themselves as above this sort of thing. That leaves the parents to be entertained, and that's just a bridge too far to cross with this one. What could have been another example of a film rising above the cynicism that met its inception, The Emoji Movie turned out to be an even worse idea in execution than it did on paper. Its characters are weak, its story lame, and its purpose unclear. Do yourself a favor, and swipe left on this one.

With last week's Comic-Con behind us, we've gotten plenty of new tidbits of information regarding the various upcoming superhero franchises and popular TV shows. Trailers have debuted, and casts have become a bit more chatty about what to expect from highly anticipated blockbusters. But one upcoming sequel didn't reveal any footage or images: Deadpool 2. But despite this disappointment, the cast and crew of Deadpool's sequel have been getting a bit chatty about the contents of the next installment. T.J. Miller in particular has been open about about how he thinks the film may be even funnier than the original, and he's now revealed that reading the script caused him to embarrass his wife in a public place.

This fantastic story comes from an interview T.J. Miller did with MTV during San Diego Comic-Con. Despite being an accomplished comedian, it seems that the contents of Deadpool 2's script are gut busting enough to cause Miller to make a scene. But considering how irreverent Miller is everyday, it shouldn't take much for him to garner attention.

While Deadpool was the surprise hit of last year, the anticipation and expectations for the sequel are extremely high. The fandom wants to be similarly surprised and tickled by Wade Wilson's adventures, especially now that his fourth wall breaking antics have become so iconic. Deadpool 2 will also expand the cast by including newcomer X-Men Cable and Domino, which has the potential for making the cast a bit too crowded. Both Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Colossus are returning as well, so there will be at least five mutants causing havoc during the sequel's runtime.

That being said, the cast seems on board for Deadpool 2. T.J. Miller can't stop expressing how funny the film's script is, and Colossus actor Stefan Kapicic has teased that the character will get the attention and screentime that was lacking when he used to appear in the main X-Men franchise. And with Josh Brolin and Zazie Beetz joining the already impressive cast, the element are all there for a fantastic blockbuster.

T.J. Miller was a fan favorite for years as Erlich Bachman on HBO's Silicon Valley, and it came as a surprise to many when he announced earlier this year that he would be departing the series after the end of Season 4. While he started out singing the praises of the show and stating that he simply wanted to move on, Miller began to drop some very public comments about trouble behind the scenes. Now, Miller has revealed why he made his departure such a public spectacle, and his reason is... a little odd. Here's what he had to say:

Apparently, T.J. Miller decided he'd rather go out with a bang than a whimper. Instead of dropping pleasantries and fading out of the limelight after announcing his departure from Silicon Valley, he went a more controversial route. While Miller hasn't exactly come out and outright insulted executive producer Alec Berg or star Thomas Middleditch, he hasn't had many nice things to say about them. His comments in New York Magazine (via Vulture) indicate that he wanted to make as many headlines as possible, and mincing his words wasn't the way to do it.

Interestingly, T.J. Miller went on in his interview to reveal that his publicist had advised against him gaining a reputation as somebody who "trashes producers," but Miller isn't too concerned about it. It's hard to blame him for not worrying about his reputation harming his career, really; he recently starred in a stand-up special for HBO, will star in the upcoming Emoji Movie, and will appear in the upcoming Ready Player One and Deadpool 2. He's currently on a hot streak, and it's possible that playing the villain in his split with Silicon Valley won't backfire on him. Only time will tell.

Unfortunately for fans of Silicon Valley, it doesn't sound very likely that T.J. Miller will reprise his role as Erlich. The Season 4 finale ended with Erlich stuck indefinitely in an opium den, and Miller's comments indicate that Erlich won't be breaking out of his stupor anytime soon. Silicon Valley was renewed for Season 5, however, so we'll see the rest of the crew back in action.

With so many shared universes and comic book properties, many critics are beginning to fear "superhero fatigue". The idea is that with so many superhero films being release annually, the genre will become saturated and stale. But then there are films that challenge what we expect from the genre, and chief among them is Ryan Reynolds' R-Rated comedy jaunt Deadpool. The Merc with the Mouth's first silver screen outing proved that R-Rated blockbusters could still make buckets of money at the box office, and that creative risks should be taken in superhero movies. And now actor T.J. Miller has revealed why the highly anticipated sequel is so exciting: they already know what they're doing.

T.J. Miller's Weasel was one of the highlights of the first film, and the former Silicon Valley actor even thinks that the sequel may be funnier than the first. He said:

This statement, which comes to us from Screen Rant, actually makes a great deal of sense. While the first Deadpool film was an experiment in filmmaking and genre defying, the cast and crew know what they're doing for the upcoming sequel. More creative risks can be taken, and the ensemble already has a great deal of chemistry, especially T.J. Miller and Ryan Reynolds.

In addition to the cast being able to slip back into characters that they've already inhabited in Deadpool, the cast of the sequel also have the added luxury of a guaranteed built in audience. Deadpool was one of the most massively popular films of 2016, with many casual audience members getting their very first introduction to Wade Wilson in the film. But the sequel will be a different game, as audiences have fallen in love with the wacky cast of characters, especially with Merc with the Mouth.

Although the returning for Deadpool 2 will be comfortable reprising their roles, that doesn't mean that the sequel will be stagnant or boring. Because in addition to returning actors like Ryan Reynolds, T.J. Miller, Leslie Uggams, and Morena Baccarin, there are a handful of newcomers joining the cast. Cable and Domino will be played by Josh Brolin and Atlanta's Zazie Beetz respectively. Additionally, The Strain's Jack Kesy will be playing the mutant Black Tom Cassidy.

Deadpool 2 is set to arrive in theaters on June 1, 2018, and it just may end up being funnier than the original. In the meantime, check out our 2017 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.

Over the last decade, T.J. Miller has developed one of the most eclectic CVs in Hollywood. He's gone from Cloverfield to Deadpool to Yogi Bear to Transformers: Age Of Extinction, while over the next 12 months he'll appear in The Emoji Movie and then Ready Player One. T.J Miller has allowed himself to develop such a varied portfolio of work because he is always intrigued to see why someone actually wants him for their film. That's exactly how he signed up for The Emoji Movie, as he recently admitted that he originally went to the pitch meeting just to see how they were going to make a film about emojis. T.J. Miller explained:

T.J. Miller admitted this to me when I sat down with the comedian at the end of May to discuss The Emoji Movie and his role within the animated comedy. But while the above quote reveals that he was ultimately convinced to work on The Emoji Movie because of director Tony Leondis, and his interesting take on where to take the film with T.J. Miller in the lead role, the former Silicon Valley actor made it clear to the director that this process would include a hefty amount of improvisation. This was something that Tony Leondis was more than happy to include, though, as T.J. Miller recalled:

We don't have long until The Emoji Movie is with us, as it is set to be released into theaters on July 28.

Just days after his final appearance on the show, T.J. Miller is really letting loose about Silicon Valley. The latest bombshell is that he and leading man Thomas Middleditch don't really get along. In addition to saying his exit was for the best, as Middleditch always wanted to be the star of the series, Miller added this in regards to his former co-star:

The sibling comparison seems apt, as T.J. Miller as in addition to their time together on Silicon Valley, the two worked side by side for a decade doing a two-man improv show. Both seem to keep it professional as the two continued to work together, even though (as Miller says) they get along just as well as Erlich and Richard did on the show. While he is a bit harsh at times, Miller does go on to shower Thomas Middleditch with compliments in his interview with THR calling him "Amazing," and "The funniest people of all [the cast members]."

The interview continues on with T.J. Miller dropping light hints that Thomas Middleditch may have played a role in the actor's exit, although he's also made clear that he had his own reasons for leaving as well. Miller works Middleditch into a conversation where he was asked whether he felt Erlich Bachman deserved a bit more closure. It's here that Miller cities HBO executive producer Alec Berg and his co-star as the primary reasons why his character left on Silicon Valley. He also takes one more rather random swipe at Middleditch when talking about how Hollywood acting isn't for him:

Yikes, sounds like a rough thing to say about someone he's worked with for almost 15 years. It could also be some subtle inside joke between Thomas Middleditch and T.J. Miller, as the jabs taken at the actor seem to come out of nowhere without much provocation. The Silicon Valley guys have all done some weird interviews in the past, so it wouldn't be out of character for Miller to do some sort of exit goof. But if all this is real, then Miller might have been axed off of Middleditch's Christmas card list.

Silicon Valley is set to return for Season 5 sometime in 2018. Deadpool 2 has officially begun filming, and while most of the news surrounding the sequel so far has been focused on newcomers Cable and Domino, there are plenty of folks from the first Deadpool movie who are returning for the sequel. Two of those characters are Weasel, Wade Wilson's best friend, and Dopinder, the cab driver who unwisely followed Wade's advice about proving love. According to T.J. Miller, these two share an interesting storyline together in Deadpool 2, although he's not entirely sure moviegoers will get to see it. Miller said:

Since Deadpool 2 is only a little over a week into principal photography, it's far too soon to make a call on what important will be taken out of the sequel's final cut. Depending on how relevant this Weasel/Dopinder storyline is to the main plot, perhaps director David Leitch will decide during post-production to take it out, but for now, T.J. Miller's above quote to Screen Rant has us intrigued to see what these two will be up to. If Weasel and Dopinder's storyline is indeed cut, we can only hope that it's either included as a deleted scene in the home media release, or that either Miller or Karan Soni reveal what it would have been about.

Even though they didn't meet each other in Deadpool, both Weasel and Dopinder were key supporting players in the movie. Weasel already knew Wade Wilson pre-experimentation as the bartender at the mercenary bar, and he accidentally came up with the name that Wade would adopt to strike terror into the hearts of his enemies...or just confusion. That said, Weasel's only willing to go so far for his best friend, as he sat out the final battle against Ajax, Angel Dust and their minions because he just didn't want to go. As for Dopinder, he picked up the Merc with the Mouth twice in his cab, and when we last saw him, he'd just gotten into a car accident while his romantic rival Bantu was in the trunk.

Along with Weasel and Dopinder, Deadpool 2 will bring back Vanessa, Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Colossus and Blind Al to get caught in Wade Wilson's latest round of shenanigans. They'll be accompanied by Zazie Beetz's Domino and Josh Brolin's Cable. Jack Kesey will play the main antagonist, who is reportedly Black Tom Cassidy. No plot details have been disclosed yet, but the sequel will help set up the X-Force team.

Deadpool 2 will be released in theaters on June 1, 2018.

Last night, fans of Silicon Valley witnessed the supposed final episode of Erlich Bachman. Of course, the news was known for awhile, as T.J. Miller's departure from Silicon Valley has been talked about for going on a month now. We've heard Miller's reasoning for why he's out for Season 5 of the HBO comedy, and now he's speaking out about why he thinks his character doesn't belong on Silicon Valley. Check out his quote and continue reading below:

The Season 4 finale of Silicon Valley showed Erlich Bachman traveling to China to meet with ousted Hooli executive Gavin Belson and then attempt to travel back to America with him. Belson learns he can get back in good with his former company and returns with the news to Erlich, who in the three minutes he's been gone, has smoked himself into a stupor with opium. Belson then pays the owner of the den enough money to keep Bachman in the place for around five years, and abandons him in China.

T.J. Miller, who thought his character's exit was hilarious, says that there was nothing that could've been done to make Erlich Bachman better belong with the team. If you make Bachman a viable and useful part of Pied Piper, then his role is no longer funny. The fact that he is a fraud who cons his way into big situations is the heart of his character, and had they kept up with him on Silicon Valley, that element likely would've never changed. While fans are likely still disappointed Miller is out, this ending allowed for a somewhat satisfying goodbye before the schtick of Bachman always hitting it big and screwing it up got stale.

The five years storyline also ultimately gives both sides what they want. As THR reported, the Silicon Valley team did not want to lose T.J. Miller and initially approached him wanting to have him appear in Season 5 with a reduced schedule. When Miller said he actually just wanted out of the series entirely, both sides decided to part ways, as showrunner Mike Judge felt it had become clear Miller didn't want to do the show anymore. Erlich Bachman's five-year opium stint allows T.J. Miller to exit the show, but leaves the door open should the two parties decide to work together again. Can Silicon Valley survive that long without one of it's biggest breakout stars?

We'll have to wait and see as Silicon Valley has about a year until it returns. Luckily HBO subscribers only have a few more weeks of waiting until Game Of Thrones is back. Those not so interested in that would do well to visit our summer premiere guide for any new or returning shows worth watching.

Last week had some good news and some bad news for fans of HBO's Silicon Valley. The good news was that the show had officially been renewed and would return for Season 5, and the bad news was that Season 5 would happen without T.J. Miller on board as Erlich Bachman. The decision for Miller to leave HBO was reportedly mutual, but we never got a full story on why he made his choice. Now, Miller has spoken out to explain his reasoning for leaving Silicon Valley, saying this:

T.J. Miller evidently just felt that it was time to move on from Silicon Valley and try new projects that would challenge him in entirely different ways. His comments definitely don't indicate that Miller believed that Silicon Valley was going downhill and wanted to jump ship. If anything, he seems willing to continue his involvement with the show in some way or other. He won't be back as a regular and he has plenty to keep him busy for the foreseeable future, but he also has a solid working relationship with HBO. Miller's big departure from Silicon Valley after Season 4 doesn't necessarily have to be a permanent departure. If he felt like he couldn't keep doing everything at the pace he was, then leaving was undoubtedly the best move he could have made.

His declaration that he needs to walk away hasn't meant that he's no longer a fan of the show. In fact, T.J. Miller went on in his chat with EW to say this about Silicon Valley:

It should be interesting to see how Season 5 unfolds without Erlich Bachman in the fold. A lot may depend on just how Silicon Valley writes the character out. He's such a part of the status quo that it might take something pretty big to justify why he won't be around when the action picks back up. Luckily, the rest of the ensemble is likely to be on hand to help compensate for his absence. Thomas Middleditch, Zach Woods, Kumail Nanjiani, Martin Starr, Josh Breder, Amanda Crew, Matt Ross, Jimmy O. Yang, and Suzanne Cryer are all expected to return.

Fans of HBO's Silicon Valley got some great news this week with the official renewal for a fifth season. Unfortunately, there's now some bad news for those who have gotten attached to the Silicon Valley ensemble. One major member of the cast will be departing after Season 4 and not returning for Season 5. T.J. Miller is leaving the series.

T.J. Miller and the producers of Silicon Valley came to a mutual agreement that Miller will not reprise the role of Erlich Bachman in Season 5, according to a statement from HBO (via THR). There doesn't seem to be any bad blood between any of the parties, so it's possible that Erlich isn't actually gone for good. It hasn't been ruled out that he could drop by for guest shots or cameo appearances. A lot will undoubtedly depend on how the character is written out after Season 4 comes to an end.

A big question is when T.J. Miller and the folks behind the scenes at Silicon Valley came to the decision to part ways. If it was a while ago, the Season 4 finale could very well serve as a platform for sending Ehlich off to explain why he won't be around in Season 5. If not, his absence might have to be explained without Miller on board when the action picks up again next season. Hopefully the character doesn't get killed off. While that would be an incredibly bold move by the show, it could also alienate fans.

Fans will have reasons to stick around Silicon Valley, even despite T.J. Miller's departure. Thomas Middleditch, Zach Woods, Kumail Nanjiani, Martin Starr, Josh Breder, Amanda Crew, Matt Ross, Jimmy O. Yang, and Suzanne Cryer are all expected to return, so the majority of the ensemble will be back. The dynamic of the group (and their business ventures) will be different, but who knows? Maybe it will be different in a good way. The SIlicon Valley team has proven that they know how to make good TV, so there's a good chance that the change will result in the show going in some unexpected and refreshing directions.

We can be sure that T.J. Miller won't be sitting around and doing nothing now that he has decided to leave Silicon Valley. He's made the jump to the big screen with memorable roles in Office Christmas Party and Deadpool, and his upcoming The Emoji Movie is slated for released in July. He'll play a part in the 2018 Deadpool sequel as well as the third installment of the How To Train Your Dragon film series. We'll just have to hope that he might have to time to play Erlich at some point in the future.

When he's not starring in the HBO series Silicon Valley, T.J. Miller's been making a name for himself in Hollywood through movies like Big Hero 6, Deadpool, Office Christmas Party and The Emoji Movie. He'll continue along that path next year when he appears in Steven Spielberg's adaptation of the Ernest Cline novel Ready Player One. We've known since Miller's casting was announced last year that he'd be playing an online troll, but now Miller has revealed that his character is an amusing bounty hunter who aspires to be like Boba Fett from the world of Star Wars. Miller explained:

It's worth noting that contrary to what T.J. Miller said, i-R0k did appear in the Ready Player One novel, but because he was such a minor character, the movie has made him into someone more significant. To that end, Miller's i-R0k has been morphed into a bounty hunter who will take out any player in the OASIS for the right price. That's the same line of work Boba Fett took on in a galaxy far, far away, but unlike i-R0k, Boba isn't known for his humorous personality.

Miller added in his interview with Fandango that he mimicked Boba Fett's original voice from The Empire Strikes Back while playing i-R0k, i.e. Jason Wingreen, as opposed to Temuera Morrison, who became Boba Fett's new voice after playing Jango Fett and his clones. Given Ready Player One's emphasis on 1980s pop culture, it's appropriate that Miller looked to the original Star Wars cuts for inspiration.

Like the 2012 book, the Ready Player One movie follows a global hunt in the OASIS virtual world for an Easter Egg left behind by the OASIS creator, James Halliday. Whoever finds the Easter Egg will inherit Halliday's fortune. Besides T.J. Miller, the cast includes Tye Sheridan as Wade Watts/Parzival, Olivia Cooke as Art3mis, Ben Mendelsohn as Nolan Sorrento, Mark Rylance as James Halliday/Anorak and Simon Pegg as Ogden Morrow.

Ready Player One hits theaters on March 30, 2018.

In The Emoji Movie, digital characters travel from app to app as they travel on their adventure, and most will recognize the names of these various locations (from Instagram to Spotify). One specific brand that isn't used, however, is the actual brand of phone that the movie takes place within -- and according to director Tony Leondis, it caused a fair number of headaches as the project was moving through development. Discussing his work on the film, Leondis recently said,

Back in January, I drove out to the headquarters of Sony Pictures Animation for a presentation of their upcoming slate of films, and had the opportunity to take part in an Emoji Movie press roundtable with Tony Leondis and star T.J. Miller (who plays Gene, a 'Meh' emoji, in the film). During the broad discussion of the animated feature the world building that went into its creation, the director was asked about the model of phone that the human character, Alex (Jake T. Austin), uses in the film. Rather than confirming that the device is either an Apple or Android, Leondis instead explained the legal complications involved in making sure it appeared to be specifically neither.

As Tony Leondis confirmed, the legal complications went beyond just the design of the phone. Because there are so many different emoji apps/keyboards available nowadays, the filmmakers had to find a way to make sure that all of the characters in The Emoji Movie look legitimately unique. As you can see from the top image, a big part of this is just general shape and features, but they even had to identify their own specific hue of yellow. I followed up with the director asking if there was a special shade they wound up using, and even to T.J. Miller's amazement, Leondis responded in the affirmative:

Based on a script co-written by Tony Leondis and Eric Siegel, The Emoji Movie is primarily set within the world of your average smartphone and tells the story of the various emojis that thousands use on a daily basis. The story centers on Gene, who is raised to be a 'Meh' emjoi, but unlike most of his kind is able to feel many different emotions. When this winds up causing serious issues for him within his community, he sets out on an adventure with his friend Hi-5 (James Corden) and a hacker named Jailbreak (Anna Faris) to try and become normal. The large ensemble cast alson incudes Sofia Vergara, Patrick Stewart, Jennifer Coolidge, Christina Aguilera, and Maya Rudolph.

In the age of smart devices and being constantly plugged in, tons of phone-related animated movies have begun to be produced. We saw this with last year's box office success The Angry Birds Movie, and now its going to continue with the upcoming animated feature The Emoji Movie. Focusing on the lives of your phone's myriad emojis (they just keep adding them- have you seen the dragon emoji?), the film has an impressive cast of film stars attached, including the great Patrick Stewart as the best emoji of all time: the poop. Now one of his co-stars has teased what to expect from Professor X's crappy role.

The always hilarious T.J. Miller (Silicon Valley, Deadpool) is playing the protagonist of The Emoji Movie, Gene. When speaking with EW about Patrick Stewart's voice performance, Miller teased what to expect, saying:

As always, we can count of T.J. Miller for some hilarious comments during interviews. This one was full of double entendre regarding fecal matter, so what more do we want, really?

In his recent comments, T.J. Miller gave us more of an idea about Patrick Stewart's voice performance in The Emoji Movie. Despite being an emoji of human excrement, he's not going to be playing a rowdy or dirty character. Instead, the poop emoji will be played with the same class and dry wit as Stewart himself, which is sure to please his many adoring fans. The juxtaposition between the character's appearance and dry wit is sure to be a highlight of The Emoji Movie, and I can't wait.

Of course, T.J. Miller's use of the adjective dry has to be purposeful, especially since he's referring to the poop emoji. Because while he's describing the vocal performance of Patrick Stewart's character, you can't help but picture an old, dry turd every time he says the word dry. While blue humor and talk of poop and farts may not be for everyone, those of us with that sense humor will likely find these types of jokes and tricky language utterly hilarious.

After all, poop is funny! Just ask Danny Devito's Frank from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Patrick Stewart's dry poop will actually be upon us before we know it. The Emoji Movie will hit theaters on June 28th, 2017, so get ready for all the poop humor and Captain Jean-Luc Picard you can possibly wish for.

We're now at the time of year where it's socially acceptable to scream, "It's Christmas!!!" in strangers' faces. Of course, people have different rituals that they undergo in order to get into the Christmas spirit. This not only includes attending one's office Christmas party, but also sitting down to watch their favorite festive films too. But what are the go-to Christmas movies for the actual cast of Office Christmas Party? Over the weekend I sat down to ask Jason Bateman, T.J. Miller, Courtney B. Vance and directors Will Speck & Josh Gordon that very question.

Jason Bateman admitted to me that his Christmas movie selection is now dictated by his two young daughters, while at the same time revealing that he's also pined to do a Christmas movie. Jason Bateman explained,

When I quizzed the directing team of Josh Gordon and Will Speck about their favorite Christmas movies, the former took the reigns of the question, revealing that there was a variety from the genre that he is a huge fan of. Josh Gordon remarked,

Meanwhile, T.J. Miller revealed that he planned on spending part of his Christmas with John McClane this year, while Courtney B. Vance returns to one of his most treasured films on an annual basis. The duo answered,

Office Christmas Party will be in cinemas from tomorrow, December 9th.

Office Christmas Party is a film where bad things happen. Want two people using enflamed Christmas trees as jousts? You got it. A man renting a real baby for a nativity? Sure. There's also the requisite amount of drunken, drugged-up, nude antics that you'd expect from such a soiree, all of which has been turned up to the nth degree. But it turns out that filming some of these scenes was quite stressful and painful for its cavalcade of comedic actors. In fact, Office Christmas Party's T.J. Miller revealed to me that he needed a little medical attention because of how much effort he put into one scene.

T.J. Miller made this admission to me, after a little persuasion from his co-star Courtney B. Vance, when I sat down to talk to the duo about Office Christmas Party over the weekend. During our chat Courtney B. Vance reminded T.J. Miller of his minor brush with death, which then led the comedian to fully divulge the details. T.J. Miller recalled,

The scene in question sees T.J. Miller's Clay Vanstone, the head of the Chicago branch of Zenotek that is being threatened with closure, rapping particularly vociferously with a recently intoxicated Walter (Courtney B. Vance), whose company could save the office. In order to convince Walter to sign on the dotted line, Chicago's Zenotek office decides to embrace their old school ways by throwing one hell of Christmas shindig.

As the party gets more and more out of hand T.J. Miller and Walter find themselves up on stage rapping and dancing for the huge crowd of people, which dwarfs the amount of people that actually work at Zenotek. As you'd expect things soon get even further out of hand. You can get a taste of the debaucherous antics that make up Office Christmas Party by watching the trailer below.

Office Christmas Party will finally be with audiences from tomorrow.

There's been a shakeup behind the scenes on Deadpool 2. Original director Tim Miller isn't returning, having been replaced by John Wick co-director David Leitch. The bulk of the main cast should return, though Deadpool scene-stealer T.J. Miller just told us of one change that he really hopes to see in Deadpool 2. He told us:

In Deadpool, Weasel worked at Sister Margaret's School For Wayward Children, the grimy watering hole where Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) and the rest of the vicious mercenaries spent time between gigs. But Weasel spent the bulk of his time behind the bar, and never really got in on the action. That's not the case in the comics, where Weasel often worked as an in formant and an arms dealer who helped Deadpool on his various missions. He's not a complete and total badass. But he has been known to wield a weapon from time to time, and T.J. Miller -- who was speaking with our own Greg Wakeman on behalf of Office Christmas Party -- really hopes that Weasel gets to pop a cap in Deadpool 2.

Here's why I think he has a very good chance of seeing his on-screen dream come true. Did you see John Wick? Deadpool 2 director David Leitch LOVES the sight of people wielding guns. Even people who don't need guns had guns in John Wick. Coupled with the fact that the first Deadpool had plenty of its own exaggerated gun play, I think it's safe to say that Weasel has a very good chance of packing heat in Deadpool 2.

What we don't yet know -- and what T.J. Miller doesn't know, because we asked him -- is when Deadpool 2 might open. Miller suggested that production on the highly anticipated sequel likely will be pushed back because of the change at director. And while Deadpool 2 has been confirmed, Fox hasn't given it an official release date, and there are key roles that still need to be cast. There have been strong rumors suggesting that Cable and Domino will be part of Deadpool 2, but we've only heard rumored names, and no official castings. Once we know more about Deadpool 2, we will bring you the information. And if Weasel wields a gun in the sequel, T.J. Miller can send us a thank you note.

Lip Sync Battle constantly gives viewers something they've probably never seen before, be it Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Clark Gregg destroying a Britney Spears impression or Big Bang Theory's Kaley Cuoco...also destroying a Britney Spears impression. The Season 3 contestant list has been announced, and it's both full of excellent entertainers and also presented through a lip-synced remake of Michael Jackson's "Beat It." Check out the trailer below to watch Lupita Nyong'o, Don Cheadle and more Marvel actors, as well as many other awesome celebs.

The first two seasons of Lip Sync Battle were pretty damned impressive when it came to who answered the call of performance duties, but Season 3 already feels like it's going to be absolutely perfect. In the first place, we've got four of the most captivating actors in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including the aforementioned Don Cheadle and Lupita Nyong'o, as well as T.J. Miller and Sir Ben Kingsley. (No Mandarin jokes.) I'm trying to think about all the songs I want to see them perform, but I'm having trouble keeping my finger from hitting the play button again to see them all rocking out as the King of Pop.

Another specific grouping seen here includes four actresses from Netflix's Orange is the New Black. We have Laverne Cox - who I have little doubt will crush whatever songs she goes with - as well as Uzo Aduba, Ruby Rose and Samira Wiley. We've seen Lip Sync Battle use different cast members from the same series/movie before, and it's great that the show is carrying on with that casting path, and they couldn't have picked a better show to pick from.

Other than those folks, we've got the talented roster of Wanda Sykes, Craig Ferguson, DeAndre Jordan, Jeff Dye, Milla Jovovich, John Cho, Rob Riggle, America Ferrera, Sarah Hyland, and Regina Hall. Dammit, now. Not a dullard in the bunch, and now all I can think of is Riggle and Cho in a movie about two dueling Michael Jackson impersonators, and in the twist ending, they're both beaten by Ferrera's hair.

And while I love that Jay Leno is going to give it his all on the debauchery-familiar stage of Lip Sync Battle, he didn't look like he was completely aware of what was happening. In any case, there should be an alarm clock that works like this.

I'm so into this trailer, my skin is slowly turning into red leather. Both the "Beat It" track and video are personal favorites of mine, as are the "Weird" Al Yankovic parodies, so this had a lot to live up to, even if no one involved was aware of my expectations. And when it was over, all I wanted to see was the same group take on "Thriller" and "Black and White," because that face-morphing part would be stellar. Plus, why hasn't Macaulay Culkin done this show yet?

Even in a world where Legos, Battleship, Angry Birds and soon Tetris have gotten their own movie adaptations, many were surprised last year when it was announced that Sony Pictures Animation would be making an emoji movie. Those animated faces may brighten our text and instant messages, but it's not like one would have thought they were prime candidates for a story on the big screen. Nevertheless, EmojiMovie: Express Yourself is heading our way next year, and the animated movie has found its first voice in Deadpool star T.J. Miller.

To celebrate World Emoji Day yesterday (yes, that's a thing), Sony announced Miller's casting to the public. EmojiMovie: Express Yourself will be set in the digital world of a smartphone, showing what the living emojis are up to when they're not being sent across the world. According to Variety, Miller will play Gene, who was originally supposed to be a "meh" emoji like his parents, but a glitch has caused him to express him to express multiple emotions uncontrollably. Cue shenanigans.

Along with the casting announcement, Sony posted T.J. Miller's "audition video" for EmojiMovie: Express Yourself, where he showed off his various emoji impressions, from expressions like smiling and kissy face to objects like fried shrimp...seriously. Unfortunately for him, the Silicon Valley star eventually learned the movie is animated, not live action, leading him to make the "disappointed" face.

While we would have paid (maybe not full ticket price) to see Miller make weird faces for 90 minutes, there's no doubt that CGI animation is the best way to go for a movie starring the emojis. So far, Miller is the only actor attached to EmojiMovie: Express Yourself, but you can bet that more actors will be announced in the coming months. Although Miller's Gene will have be rocking multiple expressions, presumably most, if not all, of the other main characters will only be showing off type of expression or look, similar to what Pixar did with the personified emotions in Inside Out. This is Miller's latest opportunity to impress moviegoing audiences. He starred earlier this year as Weasel in Deadpool, and his other upcoming movie appearances include Office Christmas Party, Ready Player One and reprising Tuffnut Thorston for How To Train Your Dragon 3.

Over the last several months, Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One adaptation has been building itself an impressive cast. The movie is only a couple weeks from finally commencing principal photography, but there’s still at least one more actor joining the ensemble. It’s just been announced that Deadpool’s T.J. Miller has been recruited as the newest player in Oasis, the story’s expansive virtual reality world.

As the latest addition to Ready Player One, Miller will play an annoying troll in the Oasis forums named i-R0k, according to The Hollywood Reporter. We won’t give any spoilers, but as you would expect from that description, i-R0k makes life hell for the main protagonist, Wade Watts. However, i-R0k wasn’t a major character in the book, so one wonders if his role in the movie will be expanded since Miller has been cast in the part rather than a less well-known actor.

Anyone who’s seen T.J. Miller’s work knows that him playing an online troll is an excellent fit for Ready Player One. His snarky brand of humor is the perfect ammunition for hurling insults across the internet, or in the movie’s case, Oasis. If you need proof, just watch him brutally comment on Wade Wilson’s disfigured face in Deadpool, or check out that Shock Top ad that aired during the Super Bowl where he’s throwing back as the beer company’s orange mascot. He’s quite skilled with the verbal jabs.

As mentioned earlier, T.J. Miller appeared earlier this year in Deadpool as Weasel, the Merc with the Mouth’s best friend, but he’s also well known for playing Erlich Bachman on the HBO series Silicon Valley. His other notable appearances include How to Train Your Dragon, Transformers: Age of Extinction, Big Hero 6 and Gravity Falls. Ready Player One is the latest blockbuster that will expose him to the masses.

Set a few decades in the future, Ready Player One revolves around people around the world who play as virtual verison of themselves in Oasis to escape the troubles and dreariness of real life. X-Men: Apocalypse’s Tye Sheridan has been cast as main protagonist Wade Watts, who will finally stumble upon the first significant clue Oasis’ creator left behind that leads to a prize containing massive power and fortune for whoever can unlock it. The cast also includes Olivia Cooke as ally Samantha, Ben Mendelsohn as villain Nolan Sorrento, Mark Rylance as Oasis creator James Donovan Halliday and Simon Pegg as Holliday’s best friend/business partner Ogden Morrow.

Fans have watched a variety of characters on Silicon Valley find themselves in or at least flirting with romantic entanglements in the first two-plus seasons of the show, but that’s never really been a major focus for T.J. Miller’s Erlich Bachman. Sure, the founder of Aviato has had a handful of sexual encounters, but there’s never been any talk on his end of actually getting serious with someone. Some might argue that this is because the guy can be such an off-putting asshole, but Miller sees a very different reason for it: he’s too much of a one-track mind, focused on becoming an icon in the tech industry.

It was while recently interviewing T.J. Miller over the phone that the subject of our conversation turned to Erlich Bachman and the potential for him to ever have a real romantic relationship. The comedian agreed that it would be pretty amazing if the brash, stubborn, and egotistical Erlich could ever find his significant other, but added that it wouldn’t necessarily be realistic to the world that Silicon Valley is portraying. Said Miller,

Of course, that didn’t stop T.J. Miller from thinking aloud about the kind of woman that would not only be a potentially great fit for Erlich, but would also provide plenty of mileage comedy wise. Noting that Silicon Valley writer/producer/director Alec Berg has a penchant for being inspired by real stories, events and relationships in episodes of the show, Miller offered that it would be funny to give Erlich a significant other that makes everyone question why she’s with him – a.k.a. the relationship he has with his own wife. Said Miller,

While that could happen in future seasons of Silicon Valley, for now fans will probably just have to settle for the love-hate relationship that’s formed between Erlich and Jimmy O. Yang’s Jian Yang (though that’s certainly more emphasis on the hate than the love).

Silicon Valley is now in the midst of its third season, with new episodes airing Sundays at 7:00pm ET/PT on HBO.

In case you missed the news, Deadpool was an absolutely massive hit when it arrived in theaters earlier this year – and as a result, the sky is the limit where franchise opportunities are concerned. Deadpool 2 is already in development, and there’s already been talk of getting the Merc With The Mouth in an X-Force team-up movie. It’s a ride that T.J. Miller is excited to hop on, and he even has some excellent thoughts about a spin-off for his character, Weasel.

I recently had the pleasure of chatting with T.J. Miller on the phone about the litany of things he has going on right now, and one major topic – as you would expect – is his future with Deadpool and the X-Men franchise. Given that Deadpool 2 was only recently given the greenlight, the comedian couldn’t really speak on what to expect from Weasel in the sequel, but did confirm that the character will definitely be sticking around for a bit. Said Miller,

You may have just raised your eyebrows at the mention of a Weasel spin-off – and T.J. Miller feels the exact same way. In the same spirit that went behind the making of Deadpool, the Silicon Valley star recognizes that there is great material to mine in the source material for his character, and wants to see it given a chance on the big screen:

What T.J. Miller is referencing is the time in Deadpool comics written by Daniel Way when Weasel became a "superhero" by the name of The House:

Like the Deadpool movie, we would expect this spin-off to be a direct adaptation of the material from the comics, but there certainly is a lot of action and comedy to be mined out of a dummy like Weasel operating a supersuit and stopping crime on the Vegas strip.

Right now, screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are working alongside director Tim Miller and star Ryan Reynolds to develop Deadpool 2, but the future beyond that for the red-and-black costumed mercenary is unclear. Hopefully we will hear more soon… but until then, stay tuned for more from our interview with T.J. Miller!

DreamWorks Pictures’ holiday comedy, Office Christmas Party, has gone and amassed a rather impressive cast ahead of its shoot, which is due to begin at some point over the next few weeks in Atlanta. As you can probably tell from the title, Office Christmas Party revolves around a festive workplace soiree that gets a little out of hand. The comedy has been in development for a while, but the latest iteration was written by Lee Eisenberg (Bad Teacher), Gene Stupnitsky (Year One), and Laura Solon, while Blades Of Glory’s Will Speck and Josh Gordon will direct.

But who will show up in front of the camera? Well, according to The Hollywood Reporter, a bevy of comedic talent actually. Take a look at Office Christmas Party’s stellar cast below. 

Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer Aniston will take the female lead in Office Christmas Party. Thanks to the likes of Horrible Bosses, We’re The Millers, and The Break-Up, Aniston has established herself as one of Hollywood’s leading comedic actresses. It also helps that each of these films have returned healthy box office numbers, and while she turned her hand to more dramatic fare with 2014’s Cake, she will be next be in more lightweight fare coming up with this and as part of Gary Marshall’s ensemble in Mother’s Day. Office Christmas Party is expected to be more mature than that though, especially since Jennifer Aniston will be sharing leading, and probably romantic duties, alongside an old friend …

Jason Bateman

Like Jennifer Aniston, who he co-starred with in Horrible Bosses and Horrible Bosses 2, Jason Bateman has spent the last year away from comedy. He starred in the thriller, and surprise box office hit, The Gift, written and directed by Joel Edgerton, while he’s also been working on his sophomore directorial effort The Family Fang, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last fall. But we all know he can deliver the funny, and his return to comedy is always appreciated, thanks to his exemplary efforts in the likes of Identity Thief, Paul, and, of course, Arrested Development. 

T.J. Miller

Fresh off his work on the monster hit Deadpool, T.J. Miller is already reaping the rewards of the box office bonanza. Miller has been making us howl in hysterics for years now though, having previously excelled in Cloverfield, How To Train Your Dragon, and, even, Transformers: Age Of Extinction. No doubt, Miller will play the aloof and quirky member of staff in Office Christmas Party. 

Kate McKinnon

While T.J. Miller is currently enjoying the benefits of starring in a box office hit, Kate McKinnon will soon follow suit when Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters is released. While Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig are the leads of the reboot, McKinnon and her fellow Saturday Night Live star Leslie Jones will see their careers exponentially boosted by appearing. Obviously, there have been some fools who are worried that Ghostbusters won't bring the funny like the originals, pointing to its all female cast as proof of its eventual failure. But anyone who has seen any of McKinnon's work and impressions on SNL knows that she's been due a promotion to the big-screen for a while now. 

That’s a pretty solid line-up, one which covers all of the necessary bases. Office Christmas Party is getting a pretty quick turnaround too, because not only is it shooting this spring, but it will be released on December 9, 2016.  

Most superheroes have a friend or close acquaintance that they hang out with when not beating up bad guys. In Deadpool’s case, that’s Weasel, played by T.J. Miller in the Merc with the Mouth’s new movie. So far in the trailers, most of what we’ve seen Weasel do is make graphic observations about Wade Wilson’s disfigured face, so it remains to be seen how specifically he’ll be helping out his mercenary buddy. However, should Deadpool get a sequel, Miller would like to be in on the action more.

While bringing up that Weasel eventually became the superhero known as The House in the comics, Miller told MTV International that he wants to use firearms in Deadpool 2. The actor said:

Miller’s comment about winning money matches Weasel’s characterization from the comics. Despite being Wade’s friend, he consistently takes any chance to get rich or better his life, even if it means screwing Wade over. Although, to be fair, Deadpool’s shenanigans do frequently end up with Weasel getting hurt or mistreated, so it all evens out. It looks like he’ll have that same opportunistic streak in Deadpool, forgoing adventure and bullets in favor of getting some cash, which explains the casino we’ve caught snippets of.

The first trailers did show Weasel getting choked (possibly by Angel Dust), so he is going to earn someone’s ire during this movie because of Wade, regardless of how directly involved he is. If Deadpool’s Weasel is as talented a computer expert as his comic book counterpart, maybe he hacked into Ajax’s system on Wade’s behalf and was later caught. Or maybe Ajax and Angel Dust were just interrogating him about Wade’s whereabouts. Either way, if Miller is talking about what he would like to do in Deadpool 2, then it looks like he won’t be killed off, so give the man some guns for the next installment!

20th Century Fox has yet to order a Deadpool sequel, but if the buzz about the first one is as good as we’re starting to hear, then surely Fox will want to continue Wade Wilson’s adventures. What Deadpool 2 would be about is unclear, although director Tim Miller has considered bringing Cable into the mix. Unfortunately, Weasel doesn’t have any superpowers or fighting skills, so unless he’s packing heavy firepower or wearing a super suit (pray it isn’t green or animated), then he’s not going to be too useful.

Deadpool hits theaters one week from today, so stock up on chimichangas and get ready for lots of gore, cursing, un-tasteful nudity, and fourth-wall breaking.

Deadpool is almost a week away from release, and if there’s one thing we’ve learned about the movie after months of previews and marketing, it’s that this isn’t a superhero adventure for the kiddies. Having earned an R rating earlier this month, it’s not only featuring hardcore violence and gore, but also plenty of vulgar humor, which is always fitting for a Deadpool story. Still, we’ve heard about how one scene was toned down for the final cut, and now we have a few specific examples of too-offensive jokes that were axed.

Having been talked to by 20th Century Fox beforehand, T.J. Miller, a.k.a. Deadpool’s Weasel, was hesitant to go into full detail about the February blockbuster’s harsher material, but he did give a few examples of dark jokes that didn’t make the cut to IGN. They included:

As you can tell, these are some grotesque sights, and Miller admitted that they were left out of the movie because they were "physically difficult to imagine." The actor didn’t provide specific context for how these lines were used, but following later comments about how he riffed with Ryan Reynolds during filming, it’s easy enough to tell that they were among the comments that Weasel exclaims upon seeing Wade Wilson’s gruesome face for the first time. Not to worry, though, as the trailers have shown that Weasel will still have plenty of snide comments about his best friend’s visage. For instance, he tells Wade that his face looks like an avocado that had sex with an older avocado.

As for the other jokes left out, Miller attributed them to being "too ridiculous," and director Tim Miller evidently thought some of these other jokes were "too obtuse" and figured not everyone would be into them. One joke did make it into the final cut that Miller was surprised by wasn’t one of those physically disgusting lines, but actually a sharp insult. It was:

That’s obviously not as graphic as the earlier jokes, but yeah, I could see how that could be seen as too dark. While audiences won’t get to hear a portion of these jokes on the big screen, there may still be hope for them, as a director’s cut of Deadpool is coming later this year. Then fans will get to relish in the filthiness of this humor in the comfort of their home if they choose. As for the theatrical release, there will be a lot of boundary pushing material sprinkled through the Merc with a Mouth’s spinoff for moviegoers to chew on.

Deadpool hits theaters on February 12th.

It was no surprise when the Motion Picture Association of America finally gave Deadpool an R rating earlier this month for "strong violence and language throughout, sexual content and graphic nudity." However, despite it not being the first R-rated superhero movie, Deadpool is still turning a lot of heads for being an outsider in a world full of PG-13 superhero adventures. There’s even a group of people who want a PG-13 version version of the blockbuster to be released in theaters so younger viewers can see it. Well, it sounds like 20th Century Fox will indeed release a different cut of Deadpool later this year, only it’s not going to be more wholesome. Instead, they've opted to go even filthier.

At a London Deadpool event, T.J. Miller, who plays the Merc with the Mouth’s best friend Weasel, informed the audience that a director’s cut will be released on home media later in 2016 that will include even more intense material. He said:

So if R-rated Deadpool isn’t hardcore enough for you next month, not to worry. You can grab your own, unrated home copy of the movie this fall. The goal was always to make Deadpool R rated, which not only is the tone of his comic book adventures, but also helps take the sting away from the tame (and mostly unfaithful) version of Wade Wilson seen in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. What we’ve seen so far in the trailers, clips and even promotional material is already quite adult, so it’s hard to imagine what was deemed too strong for the wide release.

Granted, it’s for the best that some of this unrated material didn’t make it into the theatrical cut. After all, there needs to be some concessions so the movie can be screened in regular theaters, as they’re not keen on showing NC-17 fare. Fortunately, in the comfort of one’s home, Blu-Ray, DVD and digital releases allow fans to see something closer to what the director had in mind. One wonders if the unrated version will include that one scene that director Tim Miller thought was too offensive for the theater crowd. Fortunately, it sounds like the cut being screened next month will still have plenty of vulgar material to please hardcore fans.

Actor T.J. Miller has been popping up in all kind of funny material recently, from the animated Big Hero 6, to the action-heavy Deadpool, to the fantastic television series Silicon Valley, but if you’re expecting him to show up in anything overly dramatic anytime soon, you may not want to hold your breath. This is because he has basically sworn off any kind of dramatic stuff, saying that the idea of comedians experimenting with a different tone is "totally stupid."

Helping to promote the recently released red band trailer for the stop-motion animated Hell and Back, Miller recently chatted with Yahoo! and explained his philosophy where comedians doing drama is concerned. It seems the concept as a whole completely mystifies him, as he explained,

Taking his comments a step further, T.J. Miller compared the idea of a comedian switching over to drama as being similar to Michael Jordan playing minor league baseball. Instead, he offers that funny stars looking to make a change turn to other outlets:

On a certain level, I understand the idea of staying in your league and continuing to do what you think you’re best at, but I also think it’s a bit weird that T.J. Miller would make a blanket statement like this. After all, there are people like Robin Williams and Jim Carrey who started their careers making people laugh, and wound up discovering that they also have the skills to hit people emotionally. Surely those two guys eventually found a point in their careers where they felt the need to try and mix things up, and they wound up being very successful at it. So what’s the problem?

This is an interesting debate to have, and while T.J. Miller firmly sits on one side of the fence on the issue, I wonder if there are other people out there who actually feel the same way. T.J. Miller already has a pretty solid relationship with HBO, as he’s one of the core comedians making up the hilarious cast of the acclaimed sophomore series Silicon Valley, and it’s hopefully about to grow even bigger. The premium cable network is teaming with Miller for a TV pilot based on the actor’s bizarre YouTube series The Gorburger Show from a couple of years ago. Looks like Bill Maher and John Oliver might not be the only talk show hosts in town.

The premise for The Gorburger Show will seem almost normal to anyone used to surreal comedy and Adult Swim shows. Miller voices the animatronic alien monster Gorburger, who follows his Earthly crash landing by taking over a Japanese morning show and uses it to interview celebrities and other pop culture figures. To be expected, his questions can get pretty weird, and he also utilizes the subservient crew from the actual morning show in helping his own project along. Think Space Ghost: Coast to Coast meets Between Two Ferns, with Miller’s P.O.V. guiding it. Should the show get picked up to series, it will also apparently feature Gorburger’s actual mission, whatever that may be.

According to THR, the pilot episode will see Gorburger sitting down with actors Ed Helms and Johnny Knoxville and musician Moby, with a musical performance from rapper Danny Brown and rock band Health. As well, the episode will feature a new song from rockers Eagles of Death Metal. Both Health and Eagles previously appeared on the web series. Miller will write the episode, while co-creators Josh Martin and Ryan McNeely will direct. As well, the Lonely Island trio of Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer will executive produce, along with the guys from 3 Arts and Funny or Die. Comedy is all over this bitch.

The Gorburger Show started back in 2012 and ran for two seasons and 16 episodes, ending in 2013. Over the course of its run, Gorburger interviewed The Mars Volta, learned how to make a tequila drink from Mariachi El Bronx, and even handed over guest-hosting duties to Carson Daly. T.J. Miller has been all over the place in recent years, with an ever-increasing number of voice roles on his resume. Will we one day get to see him as Gorburger on the small screen at the same time we’re watching him alongside Deadpool on the big screen? It’s up to HBO.

When you’re an actor in a comic book, you’re not only expected to give a good performance, you also have to make sure you don’t share anything spoiler-y while the film is being made. If you aren't lucky enough to be secluded in an area where people barely speak your language, this can be a difficult challenge, especially when being interviewed. Fortunately, Deadpool star T.J. Miller, who plays the lead character’s frequently-abused sidekick Weasel, seems to have perfected how to keep from spilling the beans in interviews by simply telling the questioner everything and nothing at the same time.

During an appearance on Conan earlier this week, the titular host understandably asked Miller about Deadpool, which is currently filming. The actor admitted to O’Brien that "Marvel" had told him not to give away any of the plot or other specifics, but he was willing to disregard those requests and talk about the movie. The catch with this is that Miller didn’t go into any specifics whatsoever. When asked if Deadpool is an origin story, Miller stated it was, but also pointed out that in a way, all of life is an origin story. Discussing the film and his co-star Ryan Reynolds, Miller said,

The actor further explained that the movie has a lot of stunts, but other times it doesn’t (get it yet?), although Miller did share that at one point in the film, he walks across the street without the aid of a stunt double. This guy is hardcore.

As you can tell, Miller has used his comedic chops to find a loophole around accidentally revealing any secrets. Obviously Marvel and 20th Century Fox would tear him a new one if he revealed anything juicy either on-air or off, but as long as he keeps things as vague as possible, he doesn’t have anything to worry about. When O’Brien questioned whether Marvel would be upset that he shared "so much," Miller flatly stated "they will be, but also they won’t be." It sounds like he’s in the clear. Fellow comic book actors, follow Miller’s example for future interviews.

Among the many casting announcements for Deadpool over the last several months is Silicon Valley star T.J. Miller, but so far 20th Century Fox hasn’t revealed who he’ll be playing. Many comic book fans using deductive reasoning have suspected he’s playing the Merc with a Mouth’s friend Weasel, especially after rereading the casting description from February for a character with the pseudonym "Simon." Now the actor has seemingly confirmed that he will be playing the abused sidekick.

When a fan made a comment on Twitter about the days when Miller used to be thin, the actor responded by hinting in hashtags that his weight gain is due to his portrayal of Weasel in the 2016 blockbuster.

Weasel, a recurring Deadpool character since 1993, would certainly line up with the character description for this Simon fellow. The characteristics listed included "smart, funny, but more than a little bit slippery" and "fast talker, always looking to make a buck." The description also stated that the role would require three sequel options, so if Deadpool 2 gets greenlit, then we’ll almost certainly be seeing Miller reprise the shifty two-timer.

Weasel, whose real name is Jack Hammer, was an intelligent high school student who was attempting to score a job working under industrialist Norman Osborn. Unfortunately for him, a future version of Deadpool accidentally traveled back to the past and recognized his younger pal. After ruining Weasel’s chances of getting the job (he told Osborn that Weasel used drugs), Deadpool manipulated the teen into fixing his teleportation belt so he could return to his own time. Subsequently, Weasel saw no other option than to turn to crime, and getting involved with Deadpool again, his life would know nothing but chaos from that point forward.

He has typically served as Deadpool’s informant and occasional arms dealer over the years, but the two of them often hang out with each other as buddies. The downside to this association is he has often been on the receiving end of Deadpool’s mood swings and shenanigans, and consequently, he has taken several opportunities to screw over the mercenary in return. Weasel’s only other appearance outside of comic books was in the 2006 video game Marvel: Ultimate Alliance.

Weasel is one of several Marvel characters who will be seen alongside the titular anti-hero, including Colossus and Angel Dust, as well as Morena Baccarin’s currently-unnamed character (who we suspect to be either Domino or Copycat). Unlike those other characters, however, Weasel doesn’t have superpowers, so when the bullets start flying and Deadpool’s swords start swinging, he’ll want to hide under a table or run like hell. Preferably the latter.

Deadpool will be released in theaters on February 12, 2016.

For years, Ryan Reynolds has been the only actor mentioned in connection with director Tim Miller's upcoming Deadpool movie, but that all changes today. The production has begun casting its net out looking for key supporting players to star in the the comic book film, and thus far it looks like T.J. Miller and Transporter Legacy star Ed Skrein may be the first two who are reeled in for significant parts.

This news comes to us from The Wrap, which says that offers are out to Miller and Skrien and that talks are happening, but confirms that nothing is 100% official yet. The site's sources also don't have much in the way of character information, outside of describing Miller as "an additional comic voice to compliment Deadpool" and Skrien as possibly "the film’s villain." That being said, there are some roles from the comics that one could see these two actors playing, and while I'm not as confident about Ed Skrein, I think it's a fair bet that T.J. Miller will wind up playing Weasel:

For those of you who aren't up on your Marvel reading, Weasel is Deadpool's friend, sidekick, and arms dealer, providing the anti-hero with weapons and information that he needs in order to carry out his duties as a mercenary-for-hire. While the two men are generally on good terms, though, the fact that Deadpool is completely insane often causes issues in their friendship. Those who have seen T.J. Miller's work on the amazing HBO comedy series Silicon Valley know that he can play idiot genius rather well - a skill that gels perfectly with the Weasel character - and it's not hard to imagine that he would have some pretty fantastic chemistry with Ryan Reynolds.

Ed Skrein being identified as potentially playing Deadpool's central villain helps narrow down choices - but not by a great deal. One possible option is Dr. Emrys Killebrew, who was the mad scientist who experimented on the mutant Wade Wilson and wound up turning him into the demented red and black-suited psycho we all know and love. Another strong possibility - and perhaps much more likely is that he could wind up playing T-Ray - a mercenary even more psychotically violent than Deadpool who uses sorcery and hates the Merc With A Mouth's guts:

Fox has re-cast one of the leading roles in its new half-hour comedy The Goodwin Games. Comedian T.J. Miller will take over the role played by Jake Lacy in the pilot, and will join Scott Foley and Becki Newton as a trio of siblings forced to come together again to get their hands on an inheritance from their father.

Miller, who is hosting the new stand-up half-hour Mash-Up over at Comedy Central, has been brought in to take over the part after the original project he worked on for Fox, Little Brother, didn’t go to series, says Deadline. Miller was apparently well-liked over there, and Fox wanted to find a place for him. There’s no explanation as to why Jake Lacy didn’t stay on in the role, but it’s certainly good news for T.J. Miller.

The Goodwin Games is about three siblings whose father passes away and leaves them a fortune -- which they will only get their hands on if they play by his rules. The result is that the three are reunited, with Jimmy, the brother played by Miller, recently out of jail, and not for the first time. He’s no hardened criminal, just someone who doesn’t seem to have much in the way of impulse control, but he is described as being good-hearted underneath his petty-thief exterior. The series was created by How I Met Your Mother's Carter Bays, Craig Thomas, and Chris Harris.

In addition to his new Comedy Central role, Miller has appeared in Cloverfield and Our Idiot Brother. He also guested on Happy Endings and provided his voice for How to Train Your Dragon, which has a sequel in the works. It’s his first lead role for a television series.

The twisted minds that had a hand in bringing you such warped TV sketch shows as Human Giant, Pretend Time and Robot Chicken have conspired to take crass stop-motion comedy to the big screen withHell & Back, a horror-comedy starring Nick Swardson (Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star) and T.J. Miller (Our Idiot Brother). Here the pair play two twenty-something best buds, Remy and Augie, who are happily stuck in manchild mode, but must man up for a rescue mission once a mutual friend is mistakenly sent to hell. Variety reports Rob Riggle, who made memorable appearances in The Hangover, The Other Guys, and Human Giant, has signed on to play this hell-bound bud, who unlike Remy and Augie is willfully entering the realm of adulthood.

Also joining the stop-motion feature are Michael & Michael Have Issues's Kumail Nanjiani and The Sarah Silverman Program's Brian Posehn. The stand-up comic who is well known for his nerdy rants and devotion to heavy metal music will fittingly be voicing an over-the-hill devotee of '80s metal, while Nanjiani will play Sal the Demon, a presumably low-ranking hell employee. There's no word yet on when the laborious production of Hell & Back will begin, but as the films co-writers/co-directors, Tom Gianas and Ross Shuman, have plenty of comedy ties, there's sure to be more noteworthy funnymen joining the mix.

Hell & Back is slated for a 2013 release date, but in the meantime Miller can be seen in screenwriter Lorene Scarafia's directorial debut Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, which opens in April. Coming off the box office bomb that was Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star, Swardson has no new projects to announce at this time.
