I love hearing personal stories about some of my favorite actors, especially when the experience shared reveals the strength of their character. There are some actors who are spoken of so fondly by their former cast-mates that their positive reputation seems undeniable. Such is the case for the late Alan Rickman, who's remembered by fans for his iconic roles, and by his colleages for the memorable experiences they had working with him. That includes his Harry Potter co-star Tom Felton, who played fellow Slytherin, Draco Malfoy, in all eight Harry Potter movies.

In an article run by The Guardian, which featured several tributes from his friends and colleagues ten years after Rickman's death, Tom Felton spoke of two things he learned from Rickman while getting to work with him, the first of which was the message Rickman conveyed through the simple act of lining up for his food on set. As Felton noted, Rickman could've had his food delivered to his trailer like some of the other stars, including Felton, but he apparently opted not to do that. Per Felton:

I love the way Felton describes this story, allowing us to picture a fully-costumed Severus Snape standing in line, holding his tray, waiting for his food like everyone else. As amusing as that sounds, I really like what Felton took away from Rickman's behavior. He was just a kid when he starred in the Harry Potter movies, and in the article, he notes that he recognized Rickman from one of his famous villainous performances (the Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves) . It's understandable why something as simple as lining up for food would make an impression on a young actor.

The same goes for the other thing Felton says he learned from Rickman. This one has to do with charity and what young fans expected or hoped for from the experience of meeting a star:

Felton went on to explain that Rickman would behave like Snape to these children, sneering at them and telling them to tuck in their shirts, because he knew the kids wanted to meet the character, not the actor.

Alan Rickman died at the age of 69 in 2016. I'm sure we can all agree that he left an incredible legacy from some truly memorable and wonderful performances. At the same time, I'm just as sure that I'm not alone in wishing he were still with us, as he really was one of a kind. While we can always revisit his films, I'm also glad for stories like Felton's, which allow us to get to know the man behind the sneer a little bit better.

Harry Potter fans will have a whole new adaptation to watch when Season 1 of HBO's new series arrives on the 2026 TV schedule this December. As excited as I am to see a new take on the beloved Wizarding World books, I'll never tire of learning new things about the original movies and the people involved in making them.

There are popular franchises, and then there's the Wizarding World. Generations have read the books, gone to theme parks, and of course watched the Harry Potter movies. For years, fans watched as the Harry Potter cast grew up before our eyes, and now they're old enough to be parents themselves. That includes Tom Felton, who recently had a hilariously on-brand response to his character Draco Malfoy's birthday.

Following his work as Draco in the Potter films (which are streaming with an HBO Max subscription), Felton reprised his role on Broadway in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Fans simply adore the 38-year-old actor, thanks to him continuing to be one of the Wizarding World's biggest fans. The official Harry Potter Instagram recently posted ahead of Draco's birthday in-universe, you can check it out below:

How cute is that? Despite Malfoy being an antagonist for most of Harry's time in Hogwarts, he's a character that fans carry deep affection for. So the news of his birthday got folks hyped, even more so when Tom Felton joined the chat in the comments section. He posted a short, but on-brand, response which reads:

At the time of writing this story, that quick comment has over 5 thousand likes, so it's safe to say that the fandom loved seeing Tom Felton quote his signature character. And since he's reprised his signature role on the Great White Way, he must feel even closer to everyone's favorite Slytherin.

Of course, Tom Felton is no longer the only actor who has played Draco from an early age. The upcoming Harry Potter TV show will see young actor Lox Pratt play the role of Malfoy, and he's got some big shoes to fill. We'll just have to see how his take on the character is different from the movie version.

The first teaser for the Harry Potter TV show showed a glimpse of Lox Pratt as Draco, and he certainly looks the part of Harry's rival. He's got the signature blonde locks as well as a slimy look on his face that screams Malfoy. And folks have been able to see his acting chops in the Lord of the Flies TV show, which is streaming with a Netflix subscription.

The Harry Potter movies are streaming on HBO Max, and the television book-to-screen adaptation will premiere on December 25th as part of the 2026 TV schedule. As for Tom Felton, he'll be in The Cursed Child on Broadway until November 1st.

Michael Gambon may have been known for playing sage Headmaster Professor Dumbledore but, in real life, the late actor was quite a character in his own right. Based on the loving tributes the Harry Potter cast shared about Gambon, the Irish actor was incredibly fun and quite the “trickster.” Co-star Tom Felton could vouch for that, as he spoke about the time Gambon hilariously messed with him while filming Dumbledore’s memorable death scene.

It's since been revealed that Tom Felton’s favorite Harry Potter movie is Half-Blood Prince, which puts his character, Draco Malfoy, in a tough spot. In it, Draco is threatened into killing Dumbledore on behalf of Voldemort. Draco’s attempts at using magic to off the Hogwarts headmaster, failed several times. And, as Felton explained on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, he was having a hard time himself behind the scenes:

I can imagine how frustrating that must have been for Felton. Not only did he have to deliver that bit of dialogue, but he also had to deliver it before a revered actor, Gambon. As Felton went on to explain, he missed the line a few more times, and then it was his co-star who made a request:

Aw, I can really relate to that, and not so much specifically from an acting standpoint. There's a firm chance many of us can probably relate to being in the position of wanting to please someone, especially when we're a kid trying to please an adult.

Had I been in Tom Felton's shoes, I likely would've been aiming to apologize to my co-stars for holding up the shoot. Ultimately, though, Michael Gambon had a humorously genius way of changing his young co-star's perspective:

Okay, that made me crack up! Those comments firmly illustrate exactly the kind of humor that Michael Gambon possessed, and I love it. I can only imagine actually being on set whenever he dropped a gem like that one. If anything, Gambon -- an alumni of the Royal National Theatre with 60 years worth of fine performances under his belt -- didn't take himself too seriously. And it seems the three-time Olivier Award recipient taught Felton a serious lesson:

It’s no secret that Michael Gambon was a class clown on the Harry Potter set. Daniel Radcliffe spoke about how Gambon messed around on set "all the time” and came up with hilarious acronyms during the boat scene in Half-Blood Prince. There was even a time when Gambon pranked Radcliffe with a farting machine during Prisoner of Azkaban. I love that even one of the most esteemed actors of stage and screen could be so silly.

Considering how intense Dumbledore’s death scene is, it’s wild to imagine some level of hilarity ensuing behind the scenes. I’m definitely going to watch that scene a lot differently now, but what will remain the same is my sheer love of Michael Gambon's work. While appearing on Happy Sad Confused, Tom Felton also offered his controversial choice for the best Harry Potter movie: The Chamber of Secrets. But if he actually re-watches the movies, maybe that'll change. He joked about his limited experience actually watching the eight-movie franchise. In his words:

Well, that's not really the reaction that I assume Felton wanted from his family. Then again, his family falling asleep at the movie premieres might have kept him humble as a young star. Either way, he's seen the Wizarding World movies far less than fans.

Of course, fans are curious if Felton and the Harry Potter cast might reunite one day for a Cursed Child movie. There's been no indication that Warner Bros. has any plans to make this happen, but the fact that he's reprising his role as an adult Draco Malfoy is definitely encouraging.

They Will Kill You was inspired by writer/director Kirill Sokolov's own experiences moving into a high rise and starting an inside joke with his wife that it probably belonged "to a cult." In the movie, Tom Felton and Patricia Arquette play members of a satanic cult in a high-rise called The Virgil that Zazie Beetz's character, Asia Reaves, finds herself trapped in in an attempt to locate her estranged sister.

As someone who's seen They Will Kill You, it's pretty fun to imagine Tom Felton singing about different colors of the rainbow in between them being splattered with blood and practicing intense fight sequences together. Honestly, I don't think anyone was expecting that answer. The first Harry Potter sequel might have helped expand the franchise's scope, but it usually isn't at the top of fans' lists. Alas, Tom Felton has a different perspective as someone who was there on set when filming the 2002 book to screen adaptation.

Hearing Felton's thoughts is fascinating, especially as the forthcoming Harry Potter TV show is on its way. The Chamber of Secrets will be the second season of that, and it should be interesting to see if the cast drops in the way the movie's seemingly did. This definitely tracks for those who watched the Harry Potter movies in order. The Half-Blood Prince was a big one for Draco, who was tasked with killing Dumbledore by Voldemort. We watched him struggle with that throughout the movie, before Snape ultimately stepped in and made it happen due to the Unbreakable Vow he'd made with Malfoy's mother. So it tracks that this was a particularly significant experience for the young actor.

My Favorite Harry Potter Film Is Also A Hot Take

Tom Felton's favorite Harry Potter movie can definitely be considered a hot take, and I relate to him in this way. Because my personal favorite is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, which was the only movie that doesn't even feature Hogwarts. J.K. Rowling's final novel was split into two parts, with the first one largely being focused on Harry, Ron, and Hermione being on the lamb and trying to track down Voldemort's Horocruxes.

I love the seventh movie because of how much it stands apart from the rest of the franchise. It feels like its own film, rather than simply an entry in a larger fantasy franchise. Instead of having to rush through an entire book in just a few hours, there was time for stillness and quiet, as our three heroes grew up and struggled to handle the responsibility of saving the Wizarding World.

Deathly Hallows: Part 1 looks and feels unique to the franchise. There are some bold visual choices involved, including Harry and Hermione's dance to "O Children" by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. I think it's one of the most touching moments of the entire franchise, and shows how they're still kids, despite the stakes of their circumstance.

Another standout moment is the animated sequence, where the origin of the Deathly Hallows themselves. It's a beautiful segment of the film, and once again shows how director David Yates was taking bolds swings. Add in the fascinating love triangle storyline and the death of Dobby, and the movie has so much going for it. But I think I'm one of the only people who ranks it as their favorite.

If you’re a Harry Potter fan, this may be the best time to make your way down to Broadway. That's because both Tom Felton and Daniel Radcliffe are currently in shows at the Big Apple’s theater center. Felton reprised his role as Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child to riotous applause back in November, while Radcliffe’s show, Every Brilliant Thing, opened earlier this month. With that, Felton welcomed Radcliffe back to the stage with a great gift that called back to their Wizarding World days.

Felton, who is still buddies with Radcliffe, has previously cited his Harry Potter co-star as one inspiration for him to head to Broadway in the first place. Here’s what the Draco performer revealed about the cheeky way he honored his friend and colleague:

Felton shared the story on the Happy Sad Confused podcast which dropped this week, but it must have been recorded weeks ago since the actor said he had just seen Radcliffe in Every Brilliant Thing on opening night the evening before. While Felton’s co-star on Cursed Child thought gifting Radcliffe Harry Potter’s wand would be just the right thing to do, Felton (who’s known him for the past 25 years) liked the idea for trolling-related reasons. As he added:

As Felton shared, “taking the piss” (i.e: mock, tease, ridicule) out of a friend is kind of a classic way for Brits to show love for each other So I'd hope Radcliffe really felt the love while doing his new show for an audience. The pair of Harry Potter actors took these reunion photos a few days before Every Brilliant Thing officially opened:

Cursed Child and Every Brilliant Thing are playing six nights a week just a block away from each other. I can't help but wonder how often the pair might grab lunch together now that they’re in the same place until the end of May. This almost feels like a situation in which someone is working down the street from one of their high school friends – though, in this case, it's not high school but blockbuster franchise instead.

At the same time, both actors have a lot to be excited about career-wise. Daniel Radcliffe is in one of the newest NBC series, The Fall And Rise of Reggie Dinkins, while Tom Felton is in a newly released horror comedy, They Will Kill You, which is getting good reviews from critics. It’s been so long since the HP film series ended that there’s a TV adaptation of Potter coming out amid the 2026 TV schedule later this year. Despite that passage of time, it's great to see Felton and Radcliffe still connected through the Wizarding World and are both thriving on stage.

There are lots of horror flicks hitting the 2026 movie schedule this month, including Undertone (which is so scary you may not want to watch it alone) and Ready or Not 2: Here I Come. There’s also been a lot of anticipation for Zazie Beetz’s next project, They Will Kill You, which sees her character Asia Reaves, an ex-con, take a job as a housekeeper in a New York City high-rise that houses a satanic cult. Critics have seen the film, and they can’t stop talking about Beetz’s ferocious performance.

They Will Kill You features an impressive cast around Zazie Beetz, including Myha'la, Paterson Joseph, Tom Felton, Heather Graham and Patricia Arquette. Chase Hutchinson of IGN gives it a “Great” 8 out of 10, praising the lead actress for her action skills. The critic also compliments the choreography and camerawork, calling the movie “a gonzo, gruesome, gutsy little gem.” Hutchinson continues:

Zachary Lee of The Wrap says Zazie Beetz embodies such “ferocity” that we see her earn her stripes as an action hero in real time over the course of They Will Kill You. The critic calls the movie “live-action anime” for its zany sense of play, writing:

Meagan Navarro of Bloody Disgusting rates the movie 3.5 skulls out of 5, calling Zazie Beetz an “unstoppable force of nature” whose performance is well worth the price of admission. The actress takes director Kirill Sokolov’s stunt-heavy romp by the throat and never lets go, Navarro says, writing:

Katie Rife of IndieWire gives it a B-, questioning how such a gory, excessive, super-stylized movie that’s hellbent on excitement can end up feeling so anticlimactic. Rife explains:

Siddhant Adlakha of Variety admits that Zazie Beetz is “wonderfully committed” as our blood-soaked heroine, but he ultimately agrees with the above critic that it all becomes too much — just a series of energetic action moments thrown together with little connective tissue. Adlakha says:

Critics’ opinions of They Will Kill You are overall positive — especially when it comes to our action/comedy/horror hero Zazie Beetz. The movie stands with a 73% rating on Rotten Tomatoes ahead of its opening, so if you want to witness all of the zany action in theaters, you can do so starting Friday, March 27.

I guess I should've realized the Harry Potter cast was getting old when I saw the new children for the remake coming to HBO Max, but there's nothing like seeing a big number arrive for two of the core actors. James and Oliver Phelps just turned forty, and that's a milestone even Tom Felton had to celebrate this momentous occasion.

Felton may still be celebrating the success of his new movie topping the streaming charts, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have time to drop a line for former cast members on their birthday. He popped up on the post of James Phelps and wrote a comment any fan would love to see Draco Malfoy deliver on the timeline:

I know it's meant with love, but I can't help but hear the venom of Malfoy saying "Weasley" in my head when reading it. That aside, it does warm my heart that long after the movie finished, these actors still find time to check in on each other and keep in touch.

As for how James Phelps is looking in light of the big 4-0, I think he's looking pretty good! Better than Fred Weasley looked at the end of the series anyway, but let's step away from the dark humor and take a gander at him with his birthday balloons:

I'm not going to sit here and pretend he looks exactly the same as when the movies came out, but I think he does look younger than forty. I believe once we all get out of our twenties, that's as big a win as anyone can get, unless they age in reverse like Jennifer Lopez.

Oliver Phelps did not post about his birthday on Instagram like his brother, so it's a good thing that James shared the baby photo on his behalf. Hopefully, 40 is a great year for both men, and it will be for Tom Felton and others when they finally reach that point.

As hard as it might be for some to embrace, the original Harry Potter cast is getting old. Many of them now have children and are sitting back and watching a new wave of kids step into the roles of the characters they helped make iconic. It's the circle of life, I suppose, though definitely weird for a generation of millennials who grew up alongside the movies and are now witnessing its happening all over again. I'm not sure I'll ever get over how surreal it feels, and I can only see it intensifying when I'm watching the new show with an HBO Max subscription.

All this talk about celebration has me ready to re-watch the Harry Potter movies, all of which can be found on HBO Max and Peacock. Jump in and enjoy it now, and try to go back to a time where you too were as young as the cast was back then.

We are officially seeing the return of Tom Felton, and it’s never felt so good. The actor has had steady supporting roles here and there since Deathly Hallows Part 2 in 2011, but his notable return to Harry Potter as Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter and The Cursed Child on Broadway has fans in a frenzy. Now his new movie is No. 1 on HBO, the streaming home of Harry Potter, and it’s more cause for celebration.

Felton’s new Downton Abbey-inspired spoof movie released in theaters December 5 for only a 21-day window. Fackham Hall grossed just over $4 million worldwide, with only 25% coming from US box offices. However, after landing on HBO Max March 6, the British parody comedy has already topped HBO’s charts in the US. The Some Other Woman actor reposted a story to his Instagram to share the good news:

Wow, if that’s not a stamp of approval, I don’t know what is. The No. 1 movie on HBO worldwide, however, is not Fackham Hall, but Alien Romulus. But topping HBO’s US charts is still an impressive feat, and it's an incredible turnaround by US audiences compared to its theatrical release.

This achievement isn’t surprising though given the rave reviews from critics, who compared Fackham Hall’s tone to some of the best parody movies of all time, like The Naked Gun, Scary Movie and Airplane! The Bleecker Street film included hundreds of classic spoof gags and naughty jokes, but also paid tribute to Downton Abbey and British high society in a multitude of hilarious ways.

One such bit that stretches the length of the film includes Tom Felton’s character, Mr. Archibald Davenport, where he is to wed his first cousin. Check out the clip below where Felton is introduced as “the most eligible cousin”:

Joining the Altered actor is a stacked cast that includes Jimmy Carr, Damien Lewis, Katherine Waterston, Ben Radcliffe and Thomasin McKenzie. While I wouldn’t consider Tom Felton particularly well-versed in the world of comedy given the majority of his filmography falls into the drama genre, I hope to see him in more films like Fackham Hall.

However, it will be a while before Felton is back in front of the camera, as his run as Draco Malfoy in The Cursed Child has been extended until May 10, 2026. I can’t complain though, as this Broadway run has brought us numerous Harry Potter reunions as former Wizarding World castmates show up to support the Slytherin, including Harry himself, Daniel Radcliffe.

So if you are in your Harry Potter feels, I can’t blame you, especially with the HBO Max TV show adaptation in full swing. If you are looking for a good raucous laugh though, Fackham Hall is the ticket. Either way, you’ll get your Tom Felton fix, and both are available to stream now with an HBO Max subscription.

Whenever I watch a great spoof comedy or parody movie, the often outrageous jokes leave me wondering: What kind of conversations did they have to have about that behind the scenes about this? Often, these scenes include wild lines and silly props, and I’m sure someone had to send an email or make a request about them. So, with that in mind, I asked Fackham Hall’s director, Jim O’Hanlon, about the wild conversations he had while making this Downton Abbey-inspired comedy. In response, he revealed a scene that caused hilarious NSFW discussions…at work.

While there are plenty of moments in Fackham Hall that must have required bizarre conversations behind-the-scenes, Jim O’Hanlon said the song featured at one of the dinner parties featured the wildest one. Recalling the moment in question, he told me:

In the film, which you can now stream with an HBO Max subscription, guests gather to listen to some music. However, almost immediately, the lyrics get very inappropriate and feature lines like “I went to the palace with my willy hanging out.” As the song goes on, he croons about nobody telling him that his “pecker was in sight,” and the musical number ends with him standing up to reveal that his “willy” was “hanging out” the whole time. It was pixilated, and everyone clapped as if nothing out of the ordinary was happening. Honestly, it’s hilarious.

According to O’Hanlon, the conversations he had about this moment were quite funny and inappropriate too, as he told me:

Unless you work for Saturday Night Live, I’d never expect anyone to have this kind of conversation at work. However, in the case of Fackham Hall, it was a necessary (and likely hilarious) one.

I’m sure other conversations about NSFW lines and if they should keep a gag in or not were had throughout the making of the movie. I mean, Thomasin McKenzie told me that the scene where Eric rips a photo made her “quite concerned” in a fun way. And it is through all these silly choices that we got the well-reviewed Fackham Hall.

While Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy did not like each other one bit in the Harry Potter movies, the men who played them adore each other very much. That’s been proven time and time again over the years; however, most recently, Tom Felton and Daniel Radcliffe showed their adoration by way of a magical reunion on Broadway.

While Radcliffe and Felton reunited a few months ago when the Fackham Hall actor took over as Draco in Cursed Child, it’s always wonderful to see them supporting each other. It’s very fitting that this happened now, too, seeing as Radcliffe just made his return to Broadway in Every Brilliant Thing, which is a one-man show about a man who makes lists to “remember what he is grateful for and what keeps him motivated and moving.”

It’s wild to think that it’s been nearly 25 years since Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone premiered and 15 years since Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 concluded the series. Truly, it’s been a long time since these guys worked together on-screen, which makes their sustained support of each other even better.

Really, they have consistently been there for one another as they take on new projects. During this shared era on stage, specifically, Radcliffe has given Felton advice about making his Broadway debut, and the Harry Potter actor was sweetly shocked that the Malfoy actor looked to him for inspiration.

However, I wasn’t shocked by that at all. The two men have always spoken highly of each other, and I can totally see why Felton asked Radcliffe for advice. While they’re both seasoned stage actors, the Swiss Army Man star has been in many Broadway shows over the years, and he won a Tony award for his work in Merrily We Roll Along in 2024. Of course, his former co-star would look to him for guidance and inspiration as he made his Broadway debut.

Tom Felton’s Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter series (which you can catch with an HBO Max subscription) has become a pretty legendary film villain. In a tribute to just how great Felton is in his performances, his presence is certainly felt much more than his face appears. The character is not on screen nearly as much as one might think. In fact, across all eight films, he never even hits the 10-minute mark in any one of them.

Draco Has Less Than 32 Minutes Of Screentime, Total!

I’ll admit that there are many, much bigger fans of the Harry Potter series than I am. I watched all the book-to-screen adaptations at least a couple of times, so I’m not, like, a total noob, but I’ve never read the books, and I haven’t memorized every moment of the movies. That’s probably why it came as such a shock to me when I discovered that Draco only has a total of 31 minutes and change worth of screentime across the whole series, which totals 1,179 minutes.

That really blew my mind. Breaking down the series by each movie, it’s even more dramatic. The movie where he shows up the most is Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, but it’s still barely over eight minutes, total. In the Order of the Phoenix, Draco appears for barely over one minute total. I know he’s not really key to that part of the story, but for a character who's such an important villain over the series, it was shocking to see how little he actually appears.

I Do Need To Put This In A Little Perspective

So, some nuance is needed here. While Draco only has about 32 minutes of screen time, he does rank seventh overall in terms of character screentime. It turns out, when you count up the minutes, he’s not alone in how little he actually appears. Snape, for example, played by the late, great Alan Rickman, is another huge character in the series, yet he only has about 43 minutes of screentime. Hagrid (Robbie Coltrane) may be a giant, but we only see him for less than 25 minutes in total.

Of course, the main three characters, Harry, Hermione, and Ron, played by Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, respectively, get the most time on screen, by far. Each character clocks in well over three hours, each. Harry, unsurprisingly, has the most, with close to nine hours of the 19 and a half hours or so. Professor Dumbeldore, played by Richard Harris until his death after Chamber of Secrets, and then by Michael Gambon, is the only other character who is on screen for more than an hour in total across the franchise.

I guess this shouldn’t be such a surprise, as Harry’s story is full of colorful characters and multiple villains, but it still shocks me. It will be interesting to see how things play out in the upcoming Harry Potter TV series.

Given that Jennifer Lawrence has been a major star for some time now, she’s no stranger to late-night talk shows. Lawrence has popped up on her fair share of chat shows, and some of those appearances have gone viral for one reason or another. As enjoyable as it may be to watch Lawrence in those circumstances, it seems she’s personally experienced some embarrassing moments with celebrities while appearing on such series. Apparently, there was even one instance in which she “frightened” Harry Potter’s Tom Felton.

Lawrence has indeed had her share of funny encounters with fellow stars over the years. In one particular instance, she fangirled out over Jack Nicholson when they met at the Oscars the same year she won Best Actress. That run-in was what prompted the hosts of the Smartless podcast to ask Lawrence about her most recent embarrassing interaction with another celebrity. The witty actress name-dropped the aforementioned Draco Malfoy actor and recalled what happened when they were both at The Tonight Show:

Honestly, I can’t help but chuckle a bit due to the fact that Felton – who’s currently playing Malfoy again amid Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’s Broadway run – always seems to be so chill. The thought of him being somewhat taken aback is funny though, at the same time, I can also see how Jennifer Lawrence would find the run-in somewhat cringeworthy. Most of us likely have those awkward social interactions that we’d like to put out of our heads. (I know I have a couple.)

What I appreciate, though, is just how candid Jennifer Lawrence continues to be when it comes to her quirks and certain aspects of her career. She’s a star who doesn’t mind acknowledging that she looks crazy while drunk on the red carpet and getting real about her past public persona. From a career perspective, she’s also opened up about how hard it can be for her when her movies are slammed by critics and the general public. All in all, this kind of transparency is refreshing.

To that end, the Winter’s Bone star also told the Smartless hosts that she’s had other moments in which she’s had to do her best to keep calm around other celebrities. She specifically named Nathan Fielder and Larry David as people she’d have visceral responses to. As for why it’s tough to be around such stars, Lawrence said:

I’d argue that, at this point in her career, Jennifer Lawrence doesn’t exactly need the approval of her peers. She’s more than proven herself and, as of late, she’s been promoting her new film, Die My Love, for which critics have showered praise upon her lead performance. So, if I were her, I wouldn’t fret too much, even if her run-in with the fan-favorite “Daddy Draco” may not have gone well.

You can take Draco Malfoy out of Tom Felton, but the British actor could not escape the Slytherin baddie. Harry Potter fans freaked out when Felton reprised Malfoy in the stage play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and can you blame them? But will his former co-star Rupert Grint do the same? Our favorite ginger-haired actor recently gave his candid answer.

Tom Felton basically never left The Wizarding World after the Harry Potter films ended in 2011 (all of which are available to streaming with a HBO Max subscription). He’s maintained ties back to his infamous wizard role through his Instagram posts, a memoir, and emotionally stepping into Draco Malfoy’s shoes again for the Cursed Child play. As for how Rupert Grint felt about the idea of his former co-star returning to his magical roots, he shared his delightful answer to BBC News:

Aww, what a loyal pal Rupert Grint is. It’s always great to see former Harry Potter co-stars rooting their separate projects. Jason Isaacs did the same thing in showing up for his movie son and saying “he conquered” playing Draco Malfoy all over again. It looks like the Malfoys will always have a connection on and off-screen.

Back in 2019, the Sick Note actor expressed that while he felt Cursed Child was a “genius” play, he didn’t know if he’d ever see himself returning as Ron Weasley. While Tom Felton isn’t stepping away from the magical world of Harry Potter anytime soon, is the ginger-haired actor willing to step back into it? Here was his candid response:

I understand where Grint is coming from. As he played Harry Potter’s best friend for ten years, it makes sense why he’d want to move on from it. At the same time, his connection to the fantasy series will never be over, as he finally re-watched the movies with his two kids. Grint opened up about his first baby already being a fan with her own wand and a Ron Weasley Pez dispenser. That’s too cute for words!

Rupert Grint may not be returning as Ron Weasley, but he does have exciting non-wizard projects in the works. This includes the drama-thriller Nightborn about a couple who notice something very disturbing about their newborn child. The talented actor also has a new Scrooge movie lined up with Johnny Depp that has a star-studded ensemble cast to look forward to. Grint is clearly stirring up magic of his own without having to wear the wizard robes.

Even though Rupert Grint isn’t pulling a Tom Felton anytime soon, it doesn’t mean the magical role has left his heart or his kids. The spirit of Ron Weasley clearly still exists with his new family. Make sure to catch Felton in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child playing on Broadway until May 2026.

As the critics’ reactions to Fackham Hall made clear, this Downton Abbey-like spoof movie is extremely silly, and it’s quite literally non-stop jokes for the film’s entire runtime. Now, some of these jokes are simply funny, some are punny, and others, to put it lightly, are NSFW. When I spoke to the cast, Thomasin McKenzie recalled one of those not-safe-for-work bits fondly, while also explaining why it left her “quite concerned.”

Like I said, much like all the best spoof movies – like The Naked Gun, which was rebooted on the 2025 movie schedule – Fackham Hall gives audiences non-stop jokes, and sometimes they’re moving so fast you can blink and miss them. So, with that in mind, I asked Thomasin McKenzie, who plays Rose Davenport, and Tom Felton, who plays Archibald, what their favorite gag or silly prop was. In response, the actress immediately brought up a gag involving a ripped piece of paper that she didn’t feel like she could fully explain during this interview for CinemaBlend:

Well, she might not have been able to say, but I can. The joke she’s referring to has to do with a photo that Eric (Ben Radcliffe), her character’s love interest, holds up. The image on the paper features Poppy (Emma Laird) on the left, and Rose on the right, and below the image are the words, “Peacock & Sleater.” In the movie, Eric rips the photo so he can keep the side with Rose on it.

However, that also means he keeps the letters right below it, too, and those letters spell out “cock eater,” which you can see piece together for yourself with the image above. It’s an absolutely hilarious and foul joke that had me cackling. It turns out Tom Felton found it hilarious too, as he explained:

It truly is a hilarious bit, and like other great spoof movies that had me thinking “WTF,” this gag baffled me in the best way. It sounds like it got the Last Night in Soho actress, too.

After Felton laughed about the, for lack of a better term, “cock eater” bit, McKenzie told me that the joke concerned her a little bit, saying:

I have to admit, it is a very shocking joke in the movie that comes out of nowhere. So, I see where she’s coming from, especially since she didn’t realize it was there. However, as Felton said after that, it “paid off” because it is a super funny moment.

It’s shocking and unexpected, and it adds another creative, silly and naughty gag to a movie that is literally overflowing with them in the best way.

Tom Felton has been making headlines as of late due to his reprisal of Draco Malfoy for the ongoing Broadway run of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Since Felton’s return was announced this past June, fans have been hyped, and the elation for “Daddy Draco” has seemingly only increased since the shows began. Amid all that, it seems at least one A-lister is making her Potter fandom known at this time. The person in question is Blake Lively, and she geeked out when meeting Felton, who was even in costume at the time.

It would seem that Blake Lively recently took in a performance of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The Another Simple Favor star recently took to her Instagram stories to share some photos from her experience seeing the show. One of the posts shows a group photo of Lively and Felton alongside two of the latter’s castmates, Rachel Christopher and John Skelley. The four actors were all smiles while posing together, and the photo is available to see down below:

This actually isn’t the first time this year that Lively has expressed her love of HP. In September, she posted about her visit to Universal Studios’ Epic Universe, where she took in the sights and sounds of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Ministry of Magic area as well as other themed areas related to the franchise. So it tracks that she’d have been pumped to meet the man who plays Draco. On that note, Lively also posted a selfie she took with Felton, which also included a sweet caption in her post:

All in all, Blake Lively looked like she was in fangirl heaven, and I’d imagine other franchise devotees would’ve loved to have been in her position. That aside, her tribute to Tom Felton is also quite sweet, and I could imagine how it would be “surreal” to see the former child star play his famous role in a live production. Audiences have also had visceral responses to seeing Felton perform his character in person.

While Tom Felton seemingly appreciates the love from the fans, he seems to truly be enjoying his Cursed Child experience as a whole. Before his on-stage debut, he shared updates with fans, as he shared a look at the first table read and even shared that he got emotional when trying on the blonde wig he’s wearing for the play. This feels like something of a homecoming for Felton, and it’s apparent that he’s appreciating as much as the fans are.

Felton also apparently had a bit of help while preparing to make his stage debut as well. He turned to friend and former co-star Daniel Radcliffe – a Tony winner – for guidance, and Radcliffe recently revealed the “only” piece of advice he gave his buddy was to brace himself for “entrance applause.” Just recently, Felton and Radcliffe also reunited at a screening of the latter’s Merrily We Roll Along, and the video captured of the run-in is pure magic.

After Tom Felton’s encounter with Blake Lively, I’m now particularly interested as to whether any other celebrities will see his play before the end of his run. I’d like to think fans would go particularly wild if some HP alums rolled up to the show to support Felton. We’ll just have to wait and see if that pans out.

Tom Felton is creating quite a stir now that he’s reprised his role as Draco Malfoy on Broadway in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Now, he’s offering a behind-the-scenes peek behind the magical curtain about what went on during his first stint as a member of the Harry Potter cast. Felton recently revealed that getting Malfoy’s hair right was a bit of an ordeal while they were making the movies, and I was surprised those methods ended up attracting a lot of bees.

Amid production on the Harry Potter movies, Malfoy’s hair was kept completely bleach blonde. It was a bit golden in the first few films, but, by the last Potter movie, Draco’s hair was so blonde that it was almost white. In an interview with People, which was shared to TikTok, Felton revealed what the secret was to keeping his hair so platinum throughout the film’s run. Unfortunately, it was much more of an undertaking than I imagined. He said:

In the first few movies, Draco’s hair was plastered to his head, so I assumed something was at play. However, I don’t think I ever processed how much gel would be involved. I’d imagine the Quidditch scenes were particularly tricky with the bees considering how much time was spent outside. While the tidbit about the bees is news to me, this isn't the first time Felton has discussed his hair challenges on set. He previously lamented about the amount work done on his hair, given his limited amount of screen time.

The good news is the later films allowed him to ditch the gel. However, he still had to deal with that platinum blonde. Bleaching one's hair every 9 days is no joke, and it must’ve been tough on the health of his hair. Felton kept it short throughout the movie’s run, and I could see that helping with keeping it on his head at least. Still, he’s right in that it’s a miracle he has any hair left at all. Thankfully, the Cursed Child's hair and makeup team decided to go with a wig during his latest Potter run, so the current state of his hair has been left intact.

Despite the hair-related nuisance of playing Draco as a child, Felton seems to always look back on the whole Harry Potter experience with a positive mindset. Now that he’s donning a wig for Cursed Child, he can fully embrace Draco’s look without enduring an unrealistic bleaching cycle or a swarm of bees. The only swarm Felton now has to worry about is the swarm of fans making their way to Broadway to cheer him on while he plays his iconic character once again.

Downton Abbey has been a beloved franchise since it premiered in 2010, spawning six seasons, five Christmas specials and a movie trilogy. One great — and possibly too rarely used — way to pay homage to such a phenomenon is to parody it, and that’s the treatment Fackham Hall is giving the British period drama. The spoof hit the 2025 movie calendar this weekend with a brand of humor that’s lifting the spirits of many critics, while inspiring little more than a light chuckle from others.

Fackham Hall features the charming pickpocket Eric Noone (Ben Radcliffe) accidentally landing a job at the titular English manor. From there, Noone climbs the ranks and becomes involved with the lady of the house, Rose Davenport (Thomasin McKenzie). However, when murder strikes the manor, Eric is framed, throwing the house into chaos. Elaina Patton of IndieWire rates the film a B, writing that it’s filled with non-stop gags, from puns to wordplay to slapstick stunts, but still packs in plenty of plot. Patton writes:

Pete Hammond of Deadline agrees that director Jim O'Hanlon and the writers have managed to include a story that gives structure to its “fair share of LOL moments.” There are more hits than misses in this “genuinely guffaw-inducing comedy,” Hammond says, writing:

Patrick Gibbs of SLUG Mag says Fackham Hall is an even bigger surprise than the well-reviewed The Naked Gun reboot, with plenty of hilarious gags and a “commitment to fun above all else” that the critic finds thoroughly infectious. Gibbs continues:

Owen Gleiberman of Variety says the movie is “amusing enough” but it never shocks you into riotous laughter. The critic notes that even when Fackham Hall is trying to be obscene, the jokes land too softly. Gleiberman writes:

Nell Minow of RogerEbert.com falls right in the middle of the Fackham Hall reviews, giving the movie 2 stars out of 4. The secret to the really great parody movie is truly loving whatever it is you’re making fun of, Minow writes, but these jokes don’t land with the strength the writers would have wanted. According to the critic:

Despite falling flat for a few of the critics, Fackham Hall has gotten a primarily positive response, drawing 86% from 28 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. The audience score lines up so far with 82%. The film opened in U.S. theaters on Friday, December 5. So, if this sounds like a spoof movie you don’t want to miss, check your local listings.

The Harry Potter movies are wildly popular to this day, with fans regularly re-watching them with an HBO Max subscription. This means that the Potter cast has remained synonymous with their roles, including Daniel Radcliffe and Tom Felton. The latter actor has returned to Draco Malfoy in The Cursed Child on Broadway, and got some advice from Radcliffe about treading the boards on the Great White Way.

Felton and Radcliffe recently reunited in person, warming the hearts of their generations of fans. But the two actors had been in contact prior, and since the Now You See Me 2 actor has six Broadway credits under his belt, he had some valuable advice to impart. Radcliffe spoke to Us Weekly about the wisdom he shared with his co-star, saying:

He's not wrong. Entrance applause is definitely a thing for big stars on Broadway, with fans cheering before they can even get out their first line of dialogue. Radcliffe has likely experienced this in all of his roles on the stage, given just how many fans love his work as Harry Potter. And he wanted to make sure the Draco Malfoy actor didn't allow this to mess with his performance in The Cursed Child.

It turns out that his advice was spot-on. A video of Tom Felton's Broadway debut shows that the audience went absolutely crazy the first time he appeared as his signature character. And I have to assume this is still happening weeks into his run in the Harry Potter stage play.

This message was an important one for Daniel Radcliffe to give to his Harry Potter co-star, even if their busy schedules prevented them from meeting up in person prior to Felton's Broadway debut in mid-November. In the same interview, The Boy Who Lived revealed how important his wisdom was, saying:

Points were made. While the audience erupted during Felton's first entrance as Draco, I have to assume that some entrance applause is happening during every performance. Luckily, he got the heads up, and was prepared to stay in character despite the cheers and screams that occurred.

The Wizarding World is streaming in its entirety on HBO Max, and Tom Felton can be seen in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway until May 10th. Additionally, the Harry Potter TV show is filming and expected to arrive sometime in 2027.

Tom Felton was and currently is Draco Malfoy. However, with the new HBO Harry Potter series in production, a new actor will be taking over the role of “Pottah’s” nemesis. So, when I had the chance to chat with the performer who originated the infamous Slytherin student on screen, I asked if he's had a chance to chat with his successor, Lox Pratt. In response, he told me about the “inside man” he has on the cast who is helping him communicate with the new actors.

At the moment, Tom Felton is reprising his role as Draco on Broadway in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. In that play, he portrays the adult version of his movie character. Meanwhile, as the franchise returns to the screen, the young actor Lox Pratt will play Malfoy during his years at Hogwarts. So, considering all that and the fact that both Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint have gotten in contact with the actors set to play Harry and Ron, I asked Felton during an interview for his new movie, Fackham Hall, if he’s communicated with Pratt. In response, he told me:

Over the last month, Dominic McLaughlin has reacted to getting a letter from Radcliffe, after the OG Harry Potter publicized that he had sent it. Rupert Grint also told the BBC that he wrote to Alastair Stout, who will take over the role of Ron. While Felton hasn’t written a letter to Lox Pratt, it sounds like he’s in communication with the new cast, thanks to Warwick Davis.

As you likely know, Warwick Davis played Professor Flitwick in the Harry Potter movies, and now, he’s going to reprise that role in the series. Overall, the cast of HBO’s show is totally different from the films; however, Davis’s casting provides some overlap, and for Felton, a connection.

I’d love to know what messages are being passed along. However, overall, I’m just happy that we now know that Warwick Davis is apparently serving as the inside man for Felton.

As I mentioned earlier, this conversation happened during an interview about Tom Felton's new spoof comedy on the 2025 movie schedule, Fackham Hall (it hits theaters on December 5). So, his co-star Thomasin McKenzie was also part of the discussion. That’s important to know, because after Felton told me about his inside man, his co-star chimed in with a comment that started a wonderful back-and-forth about how “cool” the new Draco actor must be:

• Thomasin McKenzie: That’s a great name! Is he called Locke?
• Tom Felton: Lox.
• Thomasin McKenzie: That’s a cool name.
• Tom Felton: Yes, he must be a cool kid if he’s Draco 2.0.

He must be a cool kid indeed, and I’d guess that the messages Felton has passed along will make him even cooler.

However, we won’t know that for sure until we see Lox Pratt in action as Draco Malfoy, and that won’t happen for a while. Although the new Harry Potter series is well on its way, and we will eventually be able to stream it with an HBO Max subscription. For now, though, you can go back and watch Felton as young Draco in the original movies in the same place, and if you happen to be in New York, you can see him on Broadway as the grown-up version of his wizard right now.

Meanwhile, I hope Warwick Davis is getting those messages passed along to Harry Potter’s newest actors as he teaches them how to “swish and flick” and properly say “Leviosa.”

The Wizarding World is one of the most popular IPs of all time, largely thanks to the wildly popular Harry Potter movies. Fans regularly re-watch the Potter films, especially since they're available to stream with a HBO Max subscription. The internet exploded when it was revealed that Tom Felton was returning to the role of Draco Malfoy in The Cursed Child on Broadway, and as a fan I love how much of a diva he's being about his wand in the production.

Felton recently debuted in The Cursed Child, resulting in the audience of the Lyric Theater screaming in joy. Like the rest of the Harry Potter cast he grew up before our eyes, and now he's playing an adult version of Draco on Broadway. In a video for TodayTix, the 38 year-old actor spoke about how methodical he's been about once again wielding a wand on stage. As he told it:

Well, my interest is piqued. Felton isn't the first actor to play Draco on Broadway, so it's surprising that he was picky about what kind of wand he'd use. I'd assume the prop department had a design that worked for his predecessors, but the actor's history in the Wizarding World brought a new perspective. Now I want to know what wand he ultimately landed on!

Hardcore Potter fans will recall that Draco's original wand was taken by Harry during the Skirmish at Malfoy Manor. He eventually got it back after the Battle of Hogwarts, but it seems like he's got a new one in Harry Potter and The Cursed Child.

Later in that same interview, Tom Felton went on to share what it's been like wielding a wand again and making magic on Broadway in The Cursed Child. As he put it:

I guess casting spells is like riding on a bike. At least, it was for Tom Felton when he was tasked with making magic and having duels on The Great White Way. Since he started playing Draco at such a young age, it does make sense.

Now that Felton is reprising his role on Broadway, fans calls for the OG cast to do a Cursed Child movie are only getting louder. There's currently no indication that the studio is looking to make this happen, with the focus instead going to the upcoming Harry Potter TV show. But now that one of the actors have reprised their role it feels more possible than ever.

We Harry Potter franchise fans are always ready for any excuse to revisit the wizarding world, and two series favorites just handed us a perfect one. Harry himself actor Daniel Radcliffe reunited with Draco Malfoy’s Tom Felton, and yes, the moment was as heartwarming, funny, and wand-worthy as you would hope. Even better, it was all caught on camera.

It’s somewhat surreal to think that Tom Felton is actually donning his blonde locks again – this time, thanks to a wig and not hair dye – and playing Malfoy again. Fans seem incredibly enthusiastic about this reprisal, though I’d argue Felton may be even more psyched than they are. On Instagram, the British actor also shared a number of fun Potter-centric story posts, with one featuring a throwback promo photo of him as Malfoy, with the caption, “a few things happened since”. Columbus' attributes that to political tension surrounding series author J.K. Rowling's controversial views.

I at least hope we see some familiar faces cameo in the upcoming HBO Harry Potter TV series adaptation, which is now in production. The role of Lucius Malfoy is being played by Johnny Flynn on the show, so that character is off the table for Tom Felton. However, I could definitely see him popping into the show some way or another after his stint on Broadway.

Considering The Patriot actor is a girl dad to two daughters, it gives me all of the feels that he views his younger male co-stars as his “surrogate sons.” And like any father would for his son, having Isaacs “proud” of Felton’s new role and planning to see him return as Draco is icing on the cake.

It’s no secret that Draco and Lucius Malfoy’s relationship was complex. Like the Armageddon actor previously said, the Hogwarts baddie was “such a little shit” due to the Slytherin student being raised with “loveless parenting.” That's all the more reason why the final shot of the two was very heartwarming, of the Malfoys leaving the Hogwarts battle as a family.

But it’s nice to know the real-life bond between Felton and Isaacs is like a typical father-and-son bond. Fans of the films (which are streaming with a Max subscription) were recently treated to some mind-blowing news when it was revealed that Tom Felton would be playing Draco Malfoy in The Cursed Child on Broadway. And the 37 year-old actor recently shared a sweet message to a young fan who was freaking out about this news.

Years after his original tenure as Draco, Felton has continued to be one of the Wizarding World's biggest cheerleaders. And while fans have been wondering about a Cursed Child movie, the actor is getting to reprise his role as adult Draco on the Great White Way. When it comes to HBO’s Harry Potter series, I’ve been very curious to see which looks and costumes they keep the same and which evolve. There are some things that likely won’t change, like Harry’s round glasses or the Weasleys' ginger hair. However, other elements might shift in slight ways. And one fan just had a spot-on take about the actor playing Draco Malfoy that shows one minor, yet effective, way this could happen.

Earlier in June, Draco and Lucius Malfoy were cast alongside a series of other supporting characters like Molly Weasley, the Dursleys and Seamus Finnigan. Speaking about Draco specifically, Lox Pratt will take on the role originated by Tom Felton, and his headshot featured him with very curly blonde hair.

This is where the take comes in, as @nikicaga reposted a side-by-side image of Pratt and Felton as Draco in one of the early Harry Potter films and wrote:

Now, if you click into the post, you can see that Lox Pratt has curly blonde hair. Meanwhile, Felton famously rocked the platinum blonde slicked-back hair. Obviously, there’s a chance the new Draco will have this look too, seeing as the image of this new young actor is a headshot, not a character poster. However, the point this fan made is worth examining.

In the early 2000s, the slicked-back look was commonplace, especially for characters who were perceived as evil or bad boys. Take Chuck Bass in Gossip Girl, for example. He was annoying and rich and, in most cases, pretty bad, and he rocked variations of the slicked and structured look throughout the show's run. Meanwhile, characters like Nate and Dan, who weren’t as rich or mean, had more natural and thoughtfully disheveled looks.

Meanwhile, these days, the entitled rich kids tend to wear less hair gel and rock more natural looks. Take Amazon Prime's new show on the 2025 TV schedule, We Were Liars, as an example. This series, which comes out on June 18 and follows an affluent and morally grey family, features a teenage character played by Joseph Zada, and he notably has wavy blonde hair.

So, I think this point @nikicaga made is worth thinking about. Style and trends evolve and change all the time. When it comes to hair, right now, people – and especially younger folks – are going with their natural hair and using significantly less hair gel, no matter how much money and bad vibes they have.

However, again, we don’t really know what the Harry Potter show’s Draco will look like. It’s totally possible that they’ll get the gel out and slick it back, just like they did with Felton in the early HP movies. But if they were to update Draco's look to stick with Pratt’s curly hair, I think that would be fitting too.

Really, either way works, and I can’t wait to see this new actor as Harry Potter’s nemesis. Along with him, I am also so excited to watch the new Harry, Ron and Hermione actors on screen. Now, Dominic McLaughlin (Harry), Arabella Stanton (Hermione) and Alastair Stout (Ron) obviously don’t look exactly like Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint. However, they do radiate the same energy, and I find that’s the case with our new Draco actor, too.

So, really, no matter what looks they go with, whether they’re the same as the movies, or slightly different, I’m sure they’ll do a good job and capture the essence of their characters well.

However, we’ll have to wait a while to see them do that, because the Harry Potter series won’t be released for a while. So, in the meantime, you can go back and see the actors who originated the roles, slicked back hair and all, by streaming the beloved fantasy movies with an HBO Max subscription.

I seriously couldn’t believe it when I saw Tom Felton donning the dark robes and bleach blonde hair again for the Cursed Child promos. He’s the spitting image of his fictional dad, Lucius Malfoy! The best part is that the 37-year-old actor will be the same age as his now-adult Slytherin character. If you're already emotional about all of this, then the story that Felton shared with Access Hollywood about his costume fitting might really hit you in your feels:

My guess for why Tom Felton “shed a tear” while wearing the blonde wig was that it was surreal for him to be in that situation. Of course, that's just an assumption on my part. Nevertheless, this does represent a full-circle moment for Felton, as he's once again playing the character that made him a star. I'd probably be emotional as well if I were in the British actor's position.

Personally, I'm also happy for Felton in that he no longer has to undergo the intense ordeal of dying his hair to play Draco. And, when I say intense, I mean that the Borrowers actor had to apply layers of peroxide and tint for days to get Malfoy’s bleach blonde hair, and he said the process felt like “fire ants” biting his scalp. It's said that one must suffer for their art, but that just sounds brutal.

Back in 2019, Tom Felton said he couldn’t imagine reprising his role for a Cursed Child movie. While there’s still no talk of a film adaptation of the play (as far as we know), the Broadway production is certainly nothing to scoff at. Upon landing the role, Felton eve received congratulations from Jason Isaacs, who plays Draco's father (Lucius) in the films.

Despite the Draco performer's initial hesitance to join another potential film, Felton is open to returning for the upcoming Harry Potter TV show -- which is set to air on HBO Max -- in some form or fashion. What Did Nick Frost Have To Say About J.K. Rowling’s Views?

The upcoming Harry Potter TV show is set to feature a fresh cast, which includes Nick Frost. As part of the new series, Frost will take on the role of Rubeus Hagrid, a character who was originated by the late Robbie Coletrane. Frost recently chatted with The Observer about his new gig and was asked about working with J.K. Rowling, given her views. He also said on Happy Sad Confused that he would “consider” a return to the Harry Potter world, and he’d be “happy to pop up as an extra” in something like the Harry Potter TV show.

This is all to say, while not impossible, I never thought he’d play Draco again. I was managing my expectations. However, here we are. Felton will make his Broadway debut by playing his character for the first time in 15 years. As he said, “it’s surreal," so it’s understandable why the fans and I are freaking out.

Fans Are Freaking Out About Felton’s Return To His Iconic Harry Potter Character

Immediately after it was announced that OG Draco would be playing his character again from November 11, 2025, to March 22, 2026, on Broadway, fans freaked out. After seeing the post below of Felton in his Malfoy outfit, platinum blonde hair and all, the comments started rolling in.

Overall, I’m with these fans. While Tom Felton speaks positively about Harry Potter frequently and has made cute comments about potentially returning, I never thought it’d happen in such a massive way.

So, like these fans, I might have to figure out how to get tickets to Cursed Child on Broadway. Pre-sale for his run begins on June 10 at 11 am. ET, and I know I’ll consider partaking in it.

While some fans would love some of the main cast members to return – perhaps in new adult Hogwarts roles? – a lot of cast members have expressed an unwillingness to come back. When asked, Daniel Radcliffe was pretty cryptic about the possibility, noting it was more of a “hypothetical” than a probability. Bonnie Wright, who played Ginny Weasley, called the possibility “confusing.” Matthew Lewis was also ambivalent about a return.

For his part, Rupert Grint previously expressed interest in coming back to Harry Potter, but more in the context of a return to playing Ron in some project down the line – definitely not a possibility with the HBO Max series.

However, it's also worth noting the series is rehashing a lot of what fans got to see on the big screen in the early to mid aughts, and so people cannot return as the grown-up versions of their characters in the same way something like an on-screen portrayal of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child might allow cast members to come back an reprise roles instead of inhabiting new ones. (Though Radcliffe sounds like he'd still be out in that case.)

Tom Felton Wants To ‘Sneak In’ To The New Harry Potter Series

Tom Felton, on the other hand, has not been ambivalent about a return to the Wizarding World. Along with still interacting with Harry Potter fans on a frequent basis, he’d said in the past he’d love to return in some capacity. This, of course, was before Max revealed the possibility of a streaming series, but that hasn't been his last word on the matter, either.

Whilst doing interviews for the new Chicago experience for the franchise, he expressed excitement over the new series, and already has a plan for making an experience (via Daily Mail):

Instead of playing a major role in the new fantasy drama, Felton just wants to be involved in some capacity, and it sounds like becoming an Easter egg of sorts in the backdrop of a scene is the exact route he would like to take. There's still some time before that possibility comes to fruition, as the show is still casting and is not even expected to hit the TV schedule until 2026, but I'd think if Felton wanted to pop in as a background actor he could.

During a recent live event at the Miami Film Festival, THR’s Awards Chatter podcast had the opportunity to chat with The White Lotus Season 3 cast alum, which naturally opened the door to Potter talk. As an actor so acutely attuned to playing a good villain, Isaacs was able to lay out his pernicious patriarch in two simple sentences:

The short version of Lucius Malfoy is pretty cut and dry, and you could see that reality as early as his first appearance in 2002’s Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

As I mentioned, this is an unnerving moment, and whenever I watch it happen, I wonder what it was like to play it out on set. Thankfully, Jake Hamilton asked Felton what it was like to hug Voldemort, and without hesitation, the Draco Malfoy actor said:

Listen, Voldemort is probably the last person I’d ever want a hug from. He is one of the most despicable Harry Potter characters, and Ralph Fiennes plays him in a way that truly makes him feel like he’s an untouchable, truly evil being.

What makes this moment even wilder is that it was unscripted. As Felton said, they filmed that sequence about 50 times, and his co-star only hugged him once. The fact that that was the take they chose to use in the movie makes this whole situation even more interesting.

Continuing his story, Tom Felton said that every time his co-star raised his arms while they filmed this scene, it was “terrifying,” explaining:

It’s also worth noting that this instance happened in front of the entire Harry Potter cast during a moment where it’s believed that Harry is dead and Voldemort is trying to get people to his side. When no one willingly walks over, Draco’s parents urge him to come, and he does. All of that alone is tragic and awkward, however, the hug really pushes it over the edge in a brilliant way.

I feel like Felton’s story further exemplifies why the Harry Potter movies are some of Ralph Fiennes’s best films. Even though he was “resistant” to play Voldemort at first, he ultimately said yes and gave an incredible, scary and surprising performance. This instance is proof of all that.

Overall, this scene in the final Harry Potter film is one of many that add up to create the epic conclusion that is Deathly Hallows. I love that the choice was made, and it sounds truly horrifying to be hugged by Voldemort both in that story and in real life, and I’m happy Tom Felton went through with it.

It’s true, a Slytherin, whether the character or performer behind them, will never lose their essence. Now that the continuing character comparison between Felton and Malfoy has been made loud and clear, there’s the new HBO series to talk about.

I'm a big fan of the franchise but, just when I thought I’d seen every on-set throwback from the set, something new surfaced. For the first time, I peeped an adorable video of the then-teenage stars messing around on the set of Prisoner of Azkaban. I have to say, it’s too cute for words.

Even though it’s been over a decade since the last Harry Potter film released, franchise alum Tom Felton has shown time and time again that his heart hasn’t left the fantasy series. His memoir, Beyond the Wand, chronicled his wonderful memories of playing Slytherin baddie Draco Malfoy. As a fan, I've been loving the BTS content Felton has shared over the years, and this latest video from the Azkaban set is a very pleasant surprise:

The video shows the the then-teenaged Tom Felton playing with what looks like a giant yo-yo of some sort. It appears he’s trying to show off his “magical skills” in front of Neville Longbottom actor Matthew Lewis! It’s so bizarre seeing these two not wearing their long Hogwarts robes. Yet it's refreshing seeing these two in “muggle” clothes and having the opportunity to goof off a bit.

It goes without saying that the HP cast members were in an interesting position as youths. Cast members like Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint were totally bankable at a young age, given the success of the films. But it’s important to remember their youthfulness was still intact. Another throwback BTS video from Felton recorded during production on the first movie showed him, Radcliffe and Watson playing a fun hand game between filming. On top of that, a clip even showed Felton wishing Watson a Happy Birthday. So these stars did have the chance to act like kids.

Today, the Wizarding World alums are adults and even old enough to be parents. While their lives have changed and they are busy, it doesn’t mean the former child actors don’t get together from time to time to reminisce on their experiences. Tom Felton has previously said he keeps up with his co-stars by playing golf with the Phelp Twins and staying in touch with Daniel Radcliffe. But, of course, the ultimate reunion was the Return to Hogwarts 20th anniversary special, during which the British cast reunited over 10 years later.

I’m sure we can all name one or two characters whose appearance on the big screen was probably a task and a half. Blondes get it the worst, because for many characters that have blonde hair that is borderline white, there are plenty of horror stories of what was done to achieve the signature look. Harry Potter actor Tom Felton had to undergo a rigorous dye routine to achieve his look. However, the screen time he had does not reflect all those hours in the chair.

Actor Tom Felton, known for his role as Draco Malfoy, the Slytherin fans love to hate, in recent years has been a lot more vocal about his experience growing up on the Harry Potter set. In his memoir Beyond the Wand, Felton shared the grueling and arduous process of getting his hair to that almost white blonde the character is known for. He discussed how it would take six or seven rounds, and if you dye your hair, you know how difficult that task can be.

This has been part of his life since his first audition for the role, at the ripe age of 12. During an ET Canada interview from 2009 (via Looper), Felton was quoted saying:

For anyone who knows anything about Harry Potter, we all know how rent-free Draco Malfoy lives in Harry’s head, with Half-Blood Prince focusing on Draco’s struggle with a task he must take (no spoilers). So given all this, I was shocked when an eagle eyed redditor revealed his screen time across all eight movies. In total, Draco Malfoy had only 31 minutes of screen time.

So the process of bleaching hair can take anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes per session. And as mentioned, Felton himself stated it was six to seven rounds to get the desired look. One session alone was longer than his screentime across all 8 movies combined. Maybe it’s because of how much the trio talked about him, but his presence in the movies just feels far longer than it actually is.

Doing that math, at six rounds with each round taking 45 minutes, that’s 270 minutes, and at seven rounds it’s 316 minutes. Granted this is just on paper how many minutes it would take if each session went perfectly with no hiccups. And this process was done, in Felton’s own words, hundreds of times. I’m not exaggerating when I say I was speechless at that math.

Tom Felton isn’t the only actor to have experienced what some would call “the horrors” of hair dye. Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke bleached her hair for the final season after wearing wigs for her role as Daenerys, and it did not go well. Achieving a natural look for certain characters is certainly a commitment.
