There are a handful of upcoming video game movies and shows in 2026 and beyond that I can’t wait to see, and this includes Fallout. The third season of the hit Prime adaptation will be coming soon, and after the Season 2 finale set up a potential duo, there’s no telling what will be in store. One thing that fans can definitely look forward to is more of Walton Goggins in his seriously disgusting makeup, and he’s sharing the pics to prove it.

Fallout Season 3 has kicked off filming, over a year after Amazon renewed the Emmy-nominated series. To celebrate the start of production, Goggins shared some behind-the-scenes pictures on Instagram that sees him in the middle of what is likely a long session in makeup as he turns into Cooper Howard/The Ghoul:

Throughout the first two seasons of Fallout, Goggins shared a handful of photos and videos of him as The Ghoul, and it never gets any less disgusting. He is definitely unrecognizable as the gunslinging bounty hunter/Hollywood actor, and it’s always fun to see just what he has to go through to get into character. Surprisingly, though, he previously shared with CinemaBlend that acting in a power suit is more unpleasant than being in the prosthetics, so he would probably take disgusting over uncomfortable any day.

Goggins has opened up about his special experience playing The Ghoul and wearing the makeup that takes at least two hours to put on. He seems to be making sure to have fun during the sessions, however, and reminding everyone that the disgusting makeup does indeed take time to perfect. Of course, that’s not all that he wears while on Fallout, so it’s not like he has to be doing the two-hour sessions every single day.

Meanwhile, Fallout hit a major milestone during Season 2, with 100 million people tuning in to at least a few minutes of each episode. This means quite a lot of people have seen Goggins as The Ghoul, and even more will likely tune in to see him as The Ghoul for Season 3. The upcoming season will feature some aspects that gamers will love, and after the twists in Season 2, there is no telling what else will happen. Aside from Goggins’ disgusting Ghoul makeup.

Season 2 of Fallout only ended in February, and filming for Season 3 just started. So it is going to be a while until fans see Walton Goggins suited up in his power suit and The Ghoul makeup. There will also be much more to look forward to in the third season, but the wait will certainly be worth it. For now, fans can watch the first two seasons of Fallout with an Amazon Prime subscription.

Fallout Season 2 is over and, with the rave reviews the series received, I have a list of details I'm hoping for in Season 3. Thankfully, I didn't say I wanted to see Cooper Howard in Power Armor more when new episodes are available to stream with a Prime Video subscription. That's because it doesn't sound like Walton Goggins was a fan of his brief scenes in the suit, and that's saying a lot given the prosthetics work he does as The Ghoul.

Howard is seen in the T-45 Power Armor in a flashback set during the Great War. There, he's inadvertently saved from enemy combatants due to a Death Claw, which rips them apart. Goggins spoke to SFX Magazine on CinemaBlend about performing in the armor and explained just why he wasn't a fan:

It sounds like getting out of that Power Armor was just as satisfying to Walton Goggins as removing his prosthetics when they finally wrapped on Fallout Season 2. That makeup process reportedly took hours to complete and, early on, it even affected Goggins' signature southern drawl. At least he didn't have to get into the suit while wearing Ghoul prosthetics, which could've been a real nightmare for the actor.

Walton Goggins is not the first person in the Fallout cast to talk about wearing the T-45 Power Armor. Johnny Pemberton also talked about the struggles and how a simple task like going to the bathroom was an entire process of removing plates and getting him out of the suit, only to do it all over again once he's back in.

As cool as the Power Armor looks, and is in the show, it's apparently quite an ordeal to work with as an actor. Of course, that's due in part to the fact that it doesn't function the way it is presented in the show and is more of a shell for the actors to do their scenes in.

Costume troubles aren't exclusive to Fallout, of course, as this is an issue that comes up for actors across all genres in TV and movies. Paul Mescal struggled with his leather armor in Gladiator II, and some of the coolest superhero costumes in Hollywood were pretty hard to work with. Fortunately, the Power Armor didn't result in anyone having a bad scene in this series and, hopefully, Goggins and co. will become more comfortable working in them as time goes on.

Fallout Season 3 is on the way, though, we have no idea when to expect new episodes. That said, I feel confident that I'll enjoy these upcoming episodes as much as the previous ones. And here's hoping that amid filming, Walton Goggins will have an easier time working with the power suit.

Fallout Season 2 delivered plenty of science fiction-based thrills as well as some legitimate drama and, in the midst of all that, there was plenty of the over-the-top violence fans have come to expect. More than a few characters dealt with some brutal situations, and that was especially true for Walton Goggins’ The Ghoul. It was during the sixth episode that Ghoul’s tolerance for pain was tested while he remained impaled on a pole. Goggins told CinemaBlend exactly how long he was actually on the pole, and this sounds intense.

The end of the second season’s fifth episode, “The Wrangler,” sees Lucy MacLean, feeling betrayed by Ghoul for using her as a bargaining chip, shoot her ex-comrade. With that, the mutated bounty hunter flies out of a hotel window and onto the aforementioned pole. On the experience, Goggins told CB “it was brutal” and that it took “three or four days” of filming just to shoot the material with his character falling from the window. As the seasoned actor explained, the process only became more challenging after that:

Honestly, as a viewer, I found it painful to watch The Ghoul planted on that pole while fighting off the urge to become feral. Up until this point, I honestly had questions in regard to whether the bounty hunter – who was originally actor Cooper Howard – could even die at this point given his physiology. Goggins explains to us, however, that mortality is something that should be considered when it comes to his character:

Eventually, Ghoul doesn’t bite the bullet, though, as he’s eventually rescued by the Super Mutant (played by Goggins’ old buddy, Ron Perlman). For Goggins himself, though, this sounds like a truly rough point of filming, and I totally understand why. It’s wild to think that going into Season 2, the actor was particularly “scared” by the prospect of having to wear those prosthetics again (which had an impact on his signature southern drawl). It’s said that actors suffer for their art, and that seems to have been the case here.

Don’t be fooled, though, as Walton Goggins is a true professional and seems to know what’s required of him as far as Fallout is concerned. The actor also seemed to really enjoy shooting the second season and even had the chance to pay homage to his favorite movie, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, using one scene in the season premiere. Goggins’ journey as Ghoul isn’t over, either, as a third season has already been greenlit. With that, I’m curious as to what kind of brutal situations both he and his character might experience next.

It was teased that Fallout Season 2 (which is streamable with a Prime Video subscription) would have some major reunions amongst characters. Yet what I didn’t count on was series co-lead Walton Goggins reuniting with one of his former collaborators. Ron Perlman, who Goggins worked with on Sons of Anarchy. Perlman plays a key character on the sci-fi show and, when CinemaBlend spoke to Goggins, we asked him about having the opportunity to act alongside his old buddy again.

For all seven seasons of the critically acclaimed biker drama, Ron Perlman played Clay Morrow, the president of the Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club Redwood Original. Walton Goggins, meanwhile, began playing the recurring role of transgender prostitute Venus Van Dam during Season 5 and would continue to appear up through the seventh and final season. While speaking with CinemaBlend, Goggins explained why it meant so much for him to work with Perlman again:

Goggins and Perlman’s Fallout characters are far different from their SOA roles. Of course, Goggins portrays the Ghoul, a bounty hunter who used to identify as actor Cooper Howard. Perlman briefly appears as the Super Mutant during Season 2’s sixth episode, “The Other Player.” The mutant saves Ghoul after he’s painfully impaled on a pole and later treats his injury in his lair. After Ghoul opts not to join the mutant in his fight against the Enclave in the upcoming war, he knocks out the wounded gunslinger and moves him somewhere else.

Ron Perlman’s appearance on the video game-adaptated show is also particularly special, because he’s provided the narration for several Fallout games. While his screentime with Walton Goggins was limited, it was certainly memorable, and I love how much the Justified alum appreciated it. The Goggins also reflected on a memorable encounter he had with Perlman as well as how he learned about his pal’s guest spot in the first place:

It remains to be seen whether Perlman will reprise his role at some point during the upcoming third season of Fallout. Hopefully, though, his appearance doesn’t just become a one-off and he not only gets to reprise the Super Mutant but gets to act alongside Goggins again as well. Whatever the case, though, I’d just love to see these two working together again in some kind of project.

A beautiful face can get you places in Hollywood, but how boring would it be if every actor populating the 2026 movie calendar looked like Sexiest Man Alive Jonathan Bailey or Michael B. Jordan? OK, maybe that was a bad example, but still, there are countless great character actors who may sport a more unique look, and fans are making their voices heard after a list went around claiming that guys like Gary Oldman, Walton Goggins and Alan Tudyk were “not hot enough to be a lead.”

There’s definitely more to being “hot” than having a chiseled jaw and rock-hard abs, and a good personality can be significantly more important (even Sydney Sweeney doesn’t want to date a jerk). So when stars like J.K. Simmons, David Dastmalchian, Steve Buscemi and Paul Dano showed up on a Reddit post asking for people’s “Favorite ugly bastard we call a ‘character actor’ as a nice way of saying they’re just not hot enough to be a lead?,” fanbases were activated. BabypintoJuniorLube responded with a timely comparison, writing:

Forget the fact that a lot of the men put forward by the original poster have been the lead in movies and on TV, because Redditors really took issue with the suggestion that these actors are ugly in the first place.

Gary Oldman seems to have gotten the lion’s share of responses, with fans imploring people to look past his flatulent-heavy role on Slow Horses to remember Sid and Nancy, Bram Stoker’s Dracula and even the Harry Potter movies. Comments included:

As for Walton Goggins, who blew up after his roles on The White Lotus and Fallout, plenty of fans said the Redditor was out of their mind for including him on the “not hot” list, writing:

Even Alan Tudyk’s inclusion got people fired up, inspiring comments like FigureUnusual4439’s “Would smash,” and catchyerselfon asking if the OP had even seen the Firefly actor’s “large semi-muscular physique.” One Redditor said the post was so misguided that others should have been consulted first:

Look, the sexy rat boyfriend is a real thing, guys. Timothée Chalamet is talking about marrying Kylie Jenner, and Pete Davidson just had a baby with model girlfriend Elsie Hewitt, for crying out loud.

There are a lot of classically beautiful men in Hollywood, and there’s definitely nothing wrong with that. But attractiveness is subjective, and the above fans know it goes much deeper than looks. Reddit user Impressive_Answer297 may have said it best:

If Gary Oldman, Walton Goggins, Paul Dano and the rest are involved, sign me up!

Spoilers for the latest episode of Fallout Season 2, “Demon in the Snow,” lie ahead, so read on if you dare.

Fallout’s second season has officially reached the halfway mark, and this latest chapter in the violent, post-apocalyptic saga is only heating up amid the 2026 TV schedule. So far, viewers have seen some intriguing creatures within this show and, this week, they got a glimpse at the Deathclaw. To put it simply, the monsters look both terrifying and awesome from a production standpoint. CinemaBlend caught up with series star Walton Goggins, who opened up about filming the scenes that involved the massive beasts.

Those familiar with the video games on which this show is based are surely aware that Deathclaws are giant, reptilian creatures that can pretty much rip anything they come into contact with to shreds. During a flashback in the prologue of “Demon in the Snow,” Cooper Howard (the man who becomes the Ghoul) witnesses one of the monsters murder enemy operatives while at war and, in the present, he and Lucy run into one in Las Vegas at the end of this week's episode.

When it comes to more recent TV and film productions, it’s common for such grandiose monsters to be created solely with the use of visual effects. However, when CB asked Walton Goggins about them, he also emphasized how there’s a practical element to the imposing behemoths:

These may be some of the most gruesome and ambitious puppets I’ve ever seen. In all seriousness, though, I love the Fallout team’s commitment to practicality whenever possible. Because of that approach, the series’ heightened world feels incredibly tangible, and I’d imagine that also helps further immerse the actors on set as well. It sounds like Walton Goggins is quite impressed with these methods and, while sharing more thoughts, he recalled a monstrous scene from earlier in the season:

I honestly can’t help but echo Walton Goggins’ amazement over the video game adaptation, which has already been renewed for a third season at Prime Video. Goggins and co. also do a great job reacting to the mutant forces that have been created solely for the show. What also seems evident is that Goggins enjoyed working on the new season, between paying homage to his favorite movie during the season premiere and hanging out with the dog (known as Dogmeat).

As far as the Deathclaws go, the end of the fourth episode set the stage for Lucy and Ghoul to have a dangerous showdown in next week’s installment. Fans wanting to see how everything pans out should have a Prime Video subscription handy when the next Fallout episode drops on Wednesday, January 14, at 3 a.m. ET/12 a.m. PT.

Fallout Season 2 is finally here, and while many people are excited to see the further adventures of Lucy and the Ghoul as they walk the road to New Vegas, we all know who the real star of the show is. Yes, it's the dog. Taking a cue from the video games that inspired it, the Fallout series gave its protagonist a canine sidekick.

The dog, generally referred to as Dogmeat, returns along with the human stars, and when interviewer Liv Marks asked the cast of Fallout Season 2 who the dog liked more, there wasn’t a lot of agreement. Initially, Ella Purnell pointed to herself when asked who the dog preferred, but Walton Goggins indicated that he’s the dog’s favorite for a particular reason. He said:

While Dogmeat, also known as CX404, technically met Lucy first, The Ghoul did ultimately rescue the dog near the end of Season 1, which appears to have created an attachment between the two. It seems that in order to help ensure that the dog acted properly on set, they made sure the dog knew which one had the treats.

However, it seems this fact really upsets Ella Purrnell. She revealed that, in order to make sure that the dog followed The Ghoul and not Lucy, Purnell wasn’t ever allowed to feed the dog treats. In the end, she knows who the dog likes more, though she seems quite unhappy about it. Purnell said:

I feel bad for Ella Purnell. She does really seem to love the dog, because seriously, who doesn’t? It’s not like it’s even a fair competition if she’s not allowed to feed it. You can't exactly blame the dog. Of course, it's also possible the dog just has a thing for Walton Goggins, just like the rest of the internet.

What the future holds for Lucy, The Ghoul, and Dogmeat, only time will tell. Although if anything happens to the dog, we can imagine people will not be happy. The same is probably true of Walton Goggins. Fallout Season 2 releases new episodes on Wednesdays and is available with a Prime Video subscription, along with the full first season.

It’s been well over a year since the first season of Fallout ended and, at long last, the hit video game adaptation has finally returned amid the 2025 TV schedule! As a result, viewers can be reacquainted with Lucy MacLean, Maximus, The Ghoul and more. The series didn’t waste any time pulling fans back into the action either. Early on, in the season premiere, there’s a wild scene involving Lucy and The Ghoul. CinemaBlend spoke about that particular scene with cast member Walton Goggins, who raved about filming it.

“The Innovator” kicks off with a bloody scene that’s set in the distant past and involves the enigmatic Mr. Church (Justin Theroux). Yet the action then shifts to the post-apocalyptic present, where Ghoul (formerly known as Cooper Howard) is about to be hanged by a group of raiders. However, his capture is part of a plan to steal money from the raiders, as Lucy is waiting in a giant replica of a dinosaur nearby with a sniper rifle, with which she’s supposed to shoot the rope and free her partner.

Nothing goes as planned due to Lucy’s futile attempt to bargain with the raiders but, eventually, she frees the suffocating Ghoul, who proceeds to kill the raiders in a gory blaze of glory. While speaking with CinemaBlend, Goggins (who plays the mutant bounty hunter) expressed excitement over filming the bloody battle. The icing on the cake for him, though, was that he was simultaneously able to pay homage to his favorite feature film:

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is one of director Sergio Leone’s best westerns and arguably one of the most referenced films of all time. Case in point, Fallout’s season premiere perfectly emulates a scene in which Clint Eastwood’s Blondie saves Eli Wallach’s Tuco by shooting the rope with which he’s to be hanged. Raiders and exploding body parts aside, the show's sweet homage emulates the classic scene almost beat for beat . What’s also sweet is that Goggins appreciates filming with Ella Purnell and co. in California.

Quite frankly, it’s just great to see Purnell and Goggins playing their fan-favorite roles again, and the pair don’t miss a beat during the premiere. At the end of Season 1, Lucy and Ghoul agreed to work together in order to find the former’s murderous father, Hank, and to locate the latter’s wife and daughter. The characters, however, still have an uneasy alliance, given their differing ways of handling business. Still, they’re going to need each other if they want to survive and stop Hank.

This premiere episode sets the stage for what should be a very exciting season filled with action, drama, social commentary and of course, plenty of blood. Ella Purnell told us that there are some exciting reunions on the horizon. I’m excited to see where the story goes and if further installments include further tributes to other iconic movies.

The 2025 Golden Globes nominations are officially out, and as usual, there is a lot to talk about. Actor Walton Goggins had a big year on the 2025 TV schedule, and it isn't even officially finished yet with Fallout Season 2 on the way. I wasn't surprised to see him get nominated for an award, but I am amazed that one performance was ignored entirely.

For those who haven't seen it yet, Walton Goggins is nominated for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role on Television for his role in The White Lotus Season 3. It's a solid performance, and he's rightfully up against former co-star Jason Isaacs for the award. It didn't have to be that way, however, as I would argue his work in The Righteous Gemstones' final season was the best thing he's done this year so far.

His Performance As Uncle Baby Billy On The Righteous Gemstones Was Ignored

I remember the broad strokes of what happened to Walton Goggins' character in The White Lotus Season 3, but to be quite honest, it felt like one of his most subdued performances I've seen in a while. When I see Goggins in any role, I expect charisma, a bit of southern charm, and something slightly sleazy. In short, Uncle Baby Billy in The Righteous Gemstones had one of his best arcs in the series in the final season.

From jet-skiing completely naked to starring as the lead in Teenjus, The Righteous Gemstones gave Walton Goggins a lot of runway to go off the rails as Uncle Baby Billy. He ran with it and gave what I would call one of the best performances of the entire series. Unfortunately, it seems the journalists who decide nominations for The Golden Globes did not feel the same way.

Why Do Award Shows Continue To Snub The Righteous Gemstones?

This isn't the first time that The Righteous Gemstones was snubbed entirely by an awards show. The Emmys never gave it an award during its entire run, which is just baffling to me. Meanwhile, shows like The Bear won an award for Outstanding Comedy Series. At the same time, the Danny McBride-led HBO comedy continued to dominate the pop culture conversation with its satirical take on megachurches.

It's baffling to me that this series continues to be disrespected by awards shows, especially given its popularity and stellar cast. Hell, you'd even think some award show would love to give John Goodman a lifetime achievement or acknowledgement award for all he's given to Hollywood over his career, and yet I'm continually disappointed when nominations come out.

So while Walton Goggins may end up winning a Golden Globe for his performance in The White Lotus, just know that I think he deserved it much more for what he did in The Righteous Gemstones. The dance number he did alone should be a highlight of at least one of the upcoming award shows, but I'm not holding my breath that it'll be included either.

The Righteous Gemstones is available to stream on HBO Max. As for the Golden Globes, the award ceremony is set to take place on January 11th on CBS at 8:00 p.m. ET. I'll be watching, but remembering all the snubbed shows and actors that didn't get acknowledged this awards season!

Fallout’s first season was a big hit, seemingly for many users with a Prime Video subscription, whether they were a fan of the original video game franchise or not. The show got a quick Season 2 renewal and has actually already been renewed for Season 3, due to its popularity. Now, fans only need to wait a little bit longer as the show is nearly back. I was already excited that the new season is almost here, with the first episode set to arrive in just a couple of weeks. Of course, after reading what Walton Goggins has to say, I expect I’ll be watching each episode more than once.

When Walton Goggins, who plays the Cooper Howard/The Ghoul in the series, spoke to SFX Magazine on CinemaBlend, he revealed he had already watched the first couple of episodes of the new season. He prevented the rest of his family from doing so, though. When his wife asked what he thought of the finished product, he couldn’t hold back the expletives, saying…

Well, this is welcome news. Season 1 of the Jonathan Nolan-produced sci-fi series was already full of all sorts of easter eggs and references to the Fallout games that weren’t necessarily focused on. They were there if a viewer knew what you were looking for, though. However, Walton Goggins has been honest that he’s not really up on the games, so the sorts of things he’s talking probably aren’t of the easter egg variety.

Some of what he’s talking about might be in reference to cool nods to the video games series, but it might also just be a well-constructed shot that simply has more going on in the frame than whatever the main focus is. The thing is, because most audiences will be paying attention to what the camera wants them to see, a lot of this detail, whatever it is, may go by unnoticed. So, needless to say, audiences may want to give these episodes a look over a few times.

Fallout's second season should indeed be eventful, given how Season 1 ended. In regard to the Ghoul's story, he teamed up with former Vault 33 member Lucy MacLean (Ella Purnell) to find her murderous father Hank, who arrives at New Vegas in the closing moments of the finale. I feel like the uneasy relationship between Lucy and Ghoul will continue to entertain fans who are tuning in.

Speaking of which, while Fallout Season 1 saw all episodes drop at once, Season 2 is shifting to a weekly release. While I personally am annoyed with that, as I hate having to wait for weekly releases, it’s good news for anybody who does want to watch episodes more than once, or simply take their time watching to fully explore the frame. Needless to say, there will be plenty of time for multiple watches without falling behind when the new season debuts on December 17.

We are now just a little more than a couple weeks away from the debut of Fallout Season 2, and while there are many aspects of the show anticipated in the new run of episodes, there is no question that the continuing adventures of Walton Goggins' The Ghoul is ranked high among them. In addition to having an eye-opening appearance, the character was revealed to have a magnificent complexity in Season 1, and that's really well reflected in the actor's comments about the day he discovered he was truly playing two parts on the terrific Prime Video series.

In a career retrospective interview with Walton Goggins posted by Vanity Fair, the actor discusses his special experience playing The Ghoul in Fallout – and he notes that it was a strange day when he first got the opportunity to play the character in the 21st century flashbacks where he is known as silver screen legend Cooper Howard. Discussing the scene, he recalls not putting too much emphasis on it... but that was mostly because he didn't want it to cause him undue anxiety. Said Goggins,

The idea of two-and-a-half hours in a makeup chair sounds pretty unpleasant, so you'd think that it would have been a relief for Walton Goggins to have that cut out of his schedule. That relief was short-lived, however, as it was as soon as he started to make his way toward set that he was hit with the realization that he was going to have a very different kind of day working on Fallout.

Goggins is widely recognized as one of the industry's greatest character actors, and audiences have seen him pull off some extraordinary performances during his decades-long career... but he nonetheless felt like he was missing a part of himself the first day that he was playing Cooper Howard instead of The Ghoul:

The good news? He figured it out. The scene in question features Cooper witnessing a nuclear bomb detonating and kicking off the Great War of 2077, and not only is Goggins amazing in that scene, but all of his flashback work is just as great as his time as the mutant assassin known as The Ghoul.

In Fallout Season 2, The Ghoul will be heading with Ella Purnell's Lucy MacLean on a trip to Las Vegas in part so that he can finally exact revenge against Kyle MacLachlan's Hank McLean. How will it all pan out? We'll start getting answers to that question on December 17 with the premiere episode. Pete Davidson has been in the celebrity limelight since bursting onto the scene as a cast member on Saturday Night Live in 2014. Since then, Davidson has experienced the trials of stardom and has been candid about his experiences. On that note, the comedian recently discussed a trend that involves fans getting bored with a star like him, and he also named Pedro Pascal and Walton Goggins to make his point. And Goggins has since provided a response to Davidson’s assessment.

What Exactly Did Pete Davidson Say About Fans’ Feelings Towards Him And Other Big Names?

The King of Staten Island star shared his views during a recent appearance on the This Past Weekend w/ Theo Von podcast, which is on YouTube. Davidson opined that once a star gains major recognition, they’re greatly beloved by the public only for that affection to eventually turn to resentment a few years later. When illustrating his point, Davidson then mentioned Pedro Pascal, who’s been working in the entertainment industry for decades but only became a household name several years ago:

Pascal has received considerable exposure due to a wealth of acting opportunities over the last few years. The Last of Us, The Mandalorian, Materialists, Eddington, The Fantastic Four: First Steps and Gladiator II are just a few of the TV and film credits he’s amassed between 2019 and now. Pascal was also dubbed the Internet’s “zaddy” (and LoU co-star Bella Ramsey has strong feelings about that). As popular as the Emmy nominee has been, though, there are now some who seem to be annoyed as to why he keeps popping up in major projects.

Another seasoned performer who’s seen a major surge in popularity as of late is Walton Goggins. While the Alabama native has been a working actor for some time, he has scored major TV roles in recent years, with The White Lotus, Fallout, Invincible, George & Tammy, The Righteous Gemstones and more. Considering how popular Goggins currently is, Davidson believes he’ll be the next leading man to receive backlash:

Pete Davidson’s comments spread far and wide after his episode of Theo Von’s podcast dropped. So it probably shouldn’t be too surprising that Goggins himself spotted the sentiments.

How Did Walton Goggins Respond To Pete Davidson’s Comments?

The Justified star took to his Instagram to share his response to the comments made on the podcast. Goggins shared a post that included a screenshot of THR’s article on the subject along with some pics from his trip to Paris. With his lengthy caption, Goggins said he “had to respond” after seeing the article and noted that Davidson (who he doesn’t know personally) was merely discussing his own experiences. He also agreed that Pascal is a “great man” and called him a “dear friend.” From there, Goggins said this:

Walton Goggins – who’s even been called a sex symbol – also acknowledged that fans have the option as to whether or not they want to support him and that if they do, he appreciates it. As for being included in the article, he explained why he sees it as a “blessing” as opposed to a “curse”:

Walton Goggins closed out his statement by saying that he’s “going to enjoy the fuck out of” this time in his life. That’s completely understandable and, as a fan of his, I appreciate that he has such a high level of self-awareness regarding his position in the industry. I find it satisfying when hard-working stars like him, Pedro Pascal and Pete Davidson hit it big, and I hope all three continue to thrive and do the work they enjoy.

HBO doesn't have a monopoly on prestige television, but they are the king of it. The network loves to work with the same people who have proved they have what it takes to make great shows. That includes many of the same great actors who appear on more than one show. Some of these actors have appeared in three or four (or more) shows over the years, but for this list, we're sticking with at least two, usually the ones they are best known for. Wendell Pierce - The Wire And Treme

Wendell Pierce first broke out as the best-dressed detective in the Baltimore Homicide Unit on The Wire. Pierce's character, Bunk Moreland, appears in every episode of the show. A couple of years after The Wire ended in 2008, the show's creator returned to HBO with Treme, and it was a natural fit to include Pierce, who is a New Orleans native, in the cast.

Carrie Coon - The Gilded Age And The White Lotus

2025 was a huge year for Carrie Coon on HBO. Not only did she return for Season 3 of The Gilded Age as the determined high society lady, Bertha Russell, but she also killed it on the third season of the anthology series The White Lotus. She stole the show with her monologue in the final episode of that show, while continuing to dominate New York society in the 1880s in The Gilded Age.

Steve Buscemi - The Wire And Boardwalk Empire

Steve Buscemi's first appearance on HBO came when he joined the cast of The Sopranos as Tony Blundetto, Tony Soprano's cousin, in Season 5 of the legendary peak TV-era show. He wasn't on the show long, but a couple of years later, he played a much bigger role on Boardwalk Empire. He played the fictional mob boss Nucky Thompson in the period piece created by Sopranos writer Terrance Winter.

The late Michael K. Williams left behind an incredible legacy at HBO. The first trailer for Fallout Season 2 is here, and with it came its premiere date on the 2025 TV schedule and one huge question. So, as we celebrate its December 17 launch, let’s also talk about the massive inquiry I now have about Justin Theroux’s character, Robert House, and his potential relationship with Walton Goggins’ Ghoul.

So, in the first teaser trailer for Fallout Season 2, we’re introduced to Mr. House, and we see him interact with Cooper Howard, the human version of Goggins’ character. It appears that this story from the past will overlap with The Ghoul and Lucy’s trip to New Vegas, and create parallel stories between before and after the bombs, like we saw in Season 1.

That leads me to question: Will Mr. House be involved in The Ghoul’s present story? In the trailer, we see plenty of him interacting with Cooper, but is there a chance he’s still alive in the present and can meet The Ghoul?

In the voice-over on the promo for one of Amazon Prime’s best shows, Goggins’ Ghoul can be heard talking about how all this started with “one man.” It flashes back to Cooper Howard’s trip to Las Vegas before he turned into a ghoul, and him presumably meeting Mr. House, who knows “everything.”

Mr. House then claims that Cooper is a violent person who “just doesn’t want to kill [him], yet,” in full, he says:

So, has Mr. House survived somehow? Will he be reunited with Goggins’ character, who is no longer the human he once was in every sense of the word? Will The Ghoul kill Mr. House hundreds of years later?

Considering The Ghoul has survived over 200 years, I don’t think it’s far-fetched to think Mr. House has lived that long, too. Which makes me, someone who has not played the games, wonder how he did that and what the implications will be when these two maybe meet again.

Thanks to a GQ story about Theroux’s casting, I now know that Robert House is a big character in the New Vegas game, and I’m aware that he predicted the apocalypse and built a defense to protect his city. The report notes that The Leftovers’ actor will “play him, in flashbacks before the end of the world.” However, I can’t help but wonder if he’ll somehow be present in the, well, present as well.

It’s also revealed that Theroux shot for a month or two and “almost everything” he worked on was with Goggins. However, it’s also noted that it’s unclear if House will show up in any of the present scenes. So, let me reiterate my question: Will Robert House share any scenes with The Ghoul, not Cooper Howard, The Ghoul?

Thankfully, we’ll find out soon when Fallout finally returns to those with an Amazon Prime subscription on December 17. Walton Goggins has said Season 2 “blows” Season 1 out of the water, and this trailer certainly made me believe that, because I cannot wait to see more of this mysterious new character and his relationship with Cooper Howard and potentially, The Ghoul.

When I think of Walton Goggins and Fallout, I think of the Ghoul. The Ghoul’s intense makeup is unforgettable, and Goggins’ charisma is off the charts. So, when I watch the series with my Amazon Prime subscription, that’s primarily what I’m thinking about when his character is on screen. However, he has some seriously emotional moments too, and the actor revealed the scene from his character’s arc that left him crying his eyes out.

The first time we see Walton Goggins in Fallout, he’s not The Ghoul yet. He’s simply Cooper Howard, a father who is performing at a birthday party with his daughter. Then, we see explosions go off, and the next time we see the character, 219 years later, he’s a hardened apocalypse outlaw. It turns out that the first scene made a real emotional impact on the man playing this complex character, and he told Vanity Fair why it left him “bawling,” beginning his thoughts with:

In the scene, Cooper and his daughter are wearing matching cowboy outfits at a kids’ birthday party where everyone is trying to forget the impending end of the world. Then, when his kid sees the bomb go off, and measures it with her thumb, like he told her to, the inevitable literally and figuratively hits them all.

The White Lotus actor found the emotion in that moment by thinking about his own son and how he’d feel if it really happened, explaining:

Without thinking about the kids, that scene in Fallout is heavy. However, adding in the fact that this happened as Cooper and his daughter were working a party makes it even more solemn and tragic.

Goggins also noted that this scene is how the audience is introduced to the world of Fallout, and this is our introduction to the destruction, making matters even sadder, as he said:

I remember watching this scene for the first time and being stunned by the juxtaposition of everyone living a normal life and the bomb going off minutes later. Then, thinking about how a parent would react to a situation like this makes me even more emotional.

It turns out, Walton Goggins felt the exact same when he watched this scene for the first time, as he explained:

I totally get why this made him bawl. It’s the moment his character’s life changes forever, for real, and the fact that his kid was involved adds even more emotion to it.

Now, I’m curious to see what kind of moments we get in Fallout Season 2 that will evoke this kind of emotion. Goggins has said Season 2 “blows” Season 1 out of the water, so my expectations are high, and I can’t wait to dive deeper into all the implications – and specifically the very personal ones – of this world-ending event.

Thankfully, we won’t have to wait much longer for moments like this either, because Fallout has wrapped Season 2, and it’s set to premiere on the 2025 TV schedule in December. So, get ready, folks, because I have a feeling we’re in for more action and moments that make us cry as we travel to New Vegas.

It’s a little early to be wanting to open holiday presents on the 2025 TV Schedule, but some signposts ahead make that statement irrelevant. That's my way of saying that I’m absolutely hyped for Fallout Season 2’s December premiere, and whatever the future may hold after its conclusion. For the most part, I’ve been able to keep this excitement in check.

At least, that was until one of the series’ major stars, Walton “The Ghoul” Goggins, shared his praises for the show’s return. While there are no concrete details or spoilers present, I have a theory on why Fallout Season 2 is about to outdo its predecessor.

Walton Goggins’ Fallout Season 2 Praise Just Made Waiting For The Season Premiere Even Harder

During a red carpet event for his part in The White Lotus, Goggins talked with Deadline about why he’s so hyped to go back to the retro-future apocalypse, brought to us by Vault-Tec! But what really perked my ears up is this section of what he told the publication:

I need to put my love for Fallout Season 1 firmly on the table at this point. The attention to detail and references to game lore, without being a full-on adaptation of any of the games, are a perfect balance of the new and the familiar. But those of you who need to sign up for a Prime Video subscription to catch up on Fallout Season 1 should be warned.

My theory for Season 2 will require talking about some spoilers from this shocking streaming story so far. Trust me, if you have a chance to go in as cold as possible, you’ll be thankful. But for those of you who are caught up on Fallout, let’s head into the vault and talk shop.

Fallout Season 2 Seems Set Up To Tie Bethesda’s Standalone Universe Together Tightly

In Fallout Season 1’s finale, we learn that Vault-Tec actually triggered the nuclear apocalypse. The TL;DR version of why is because they simply wanted to create a new society where the company would be firmly in control, Vault Dwellers at the ready to repopulate the world in its image.

That decision, paired with the continued investment in the fate of Lucy McLean (Ella Purnell), Maximus (Aaron Moten), and the ghoulified Cooper Howard (Walton Goggins), the earliest expectation for Fallout Season 2 is a cohesive story. Which, admittedly, flies in the face of the fact that the gaming franchise has always been a series of traditionally stand-alone stories.

That's now changed on the TV side, as Vault-Tec is the power broker that's pulling some pretty huge strings. With an established cast of recurring characters, and other locations of Fallout fame being introduced, it’s exciting to see which elements from New Vegas will be cherry-picked to move things along. And I’m not sure if many people realized this, but Walton Goggins’ decaying outlaw could serve an even greater purpose.

Cooper Howard Could Be “The Glue” Of Fallout’s Television Universe

Yes, Walton Goggins’ status as a radiation-tainted heartthrob is certainly part of the reason why Fallout would want to keep his Cooper Howard character around for as long as possible. However, the character’s backstory and ties to Vault-Tec seem to have inadvertently made him even more of a breakout star on the Prime Video series.

Kind of like how Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow eventually became the functional lead of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, Mr. Howard could very well be the hinge point for Fallout’s future. That doesn’t seem to be the plan at the moment, as seen in how Aaron Moten’s comments on Fallout’s planned time-frame have a 5-6 season run in mind.

But should the trajectory of the series’ plot change, or if a potent spinoff idea somehow inspires Amazon-MGM Studios to want to start a televised universe, Walton Goggins’ actor-turned-undead revenge seeker would be the key to making it all happen. I mean, surely someone of Cooper Howard's star power knows all the movers and shakers in New Vegas; and who knows what stories that could lead to?

A man of high society’s past and the wasteland’s present, Fallout looks like it’s more dependent on this TV veteran than some may have thought. We’ll have to see if any of this makes sense when Fallout Season 2 debuts this December, only on Prime Video! But don’t forget about Fallout’s Halloween Horror Nights debut, which will give guests the chance to relive some of Season 1’s plot beats in the flesh, towards the end of August.

As wild as the drama got on The White Lotus Season 3 — which ended its run on the 2025 TV schedule in April — the whispers of behind-the-scenes happenings have arguably been even juicier. That includes a potential feud between Walton Goggins and Aimee Lou Wood, which was exacerbated by their reactions to a Saturday Night Live bit that mocked the actress’ teeth. Wood slammed the sketch, and an insider is now revealing how her pals and co-stars responded.

“The White Potus” was a sketch that aired on the April 12 episode of SNL. Sarah Sherman appeared to portray Chelsea from The White Lotus (available to stream with a Max subscription) by donning prosthetic teeth that resembled Wood’s. The actress called it “mean and unfunny,” and according to Life&Style, many of her castmates agreed. A source said:

Rumors of tension between Wood and Goggins spread after the actors went from saying absolutely glowing things about each other to unfollowing each other on social media. Goggins refused to address it, but many read into his own response to the Saturday Night Live sketch, which he called “smashing,” commenting on the show’s Instagram, “Hahahahahhahaha Amazzzingggg.”

Goggins even went on to serve as a Saturday Night Live Season 50 host on May 10, but that was reportedly in the works before “The White Potus” sketch drama. It’s unknown what, if anything, has been said between him and his on-screen love (Goggins played Chelsea’s partner Rick), but the insider claims the support she received from other friends has helped. They said:

Even SNL cast members have reached out to the actress, with Sarah Sherman sending her flowers and saying she “never meant to hurt anyone’s feelings."

Aimee Lou Wood low-key stole The White Lotus Season 3, so it’s understandable that she got frustrated that people were more focused on her teeth than her performance. However, when paparazzi photographed the actress sobbing in South London days after the Saturday Night Live sketch aired, she denied that was the reason.

As for the supposed feud between her and Walton Goggins, the pair started following each other on Instagram again last month, and there are now rumors that they may be reuniting soon — if for no other reason, the Emmy campaign that The White Lotus stars will inevitably be involved in.

Being on a film set for half of any given year has a way of taking one’s finger off the pulse of pop culture, even if one is filming with a direct conduit to the zeitgeist. Such as it went for Ella Purnell, who recently emerged from her professional cocoon as Prime Video’s Fallout wrapped production for Season 2. Despite working alongside Walton Goggins during that stretch, the actress apparently remained blind to the notion that her co-star became a bonafide sex symbol.

To be sure, fans have been lusting after Goggins for years, with his role as Justified’s Boyd Crowder as a particularly successful thirst-mongering character. But it was arguably his turn as Fallout’s antagonistic semi-monster The Ghoul that brought worldwide attention to the Alabama native’s signature drawl and swagger, and the adoration only grew with his White Lotus role, as well as his occasional sorta-nude appearances on The Righteous Gemstones.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight during Amazon’s advertising upfronts event, Ella Purnell was asked for her take on Goggins’ status as a heartthrob sex symbol, and bless the Yellowjackets vet’s heart, she somehow missed that memo. But she did explain why that idea makes sense to her, saying:

Purnell confirmed that the second season of the upcoming video game adaptation had been filming for six months or longer, and talked in the past about some of the reasons why it was a complicated shoot, with talks of poop-fingers. But it doesn’t sound like she had to deal with Walton Goggins strutting around the set like a Casanova while enjoying his newfound distinction as a TV hunk whose receding hairline is as much a part of the appeal as anything else.

I’m amused that Purnell has figured out that The Ghoul became a magnet for online thirst after Fallout’s first season went live in 2023, but somehow missed all the same signs pointing to the actor himself. Or maybe she just assumed that comments being made specifically about Goggins were also being applied to his noseless character. (Would also love to know if she went down any weird online rabbit holes where that's concerned.)

In any case, the Sweetpea actress seemingly missed the memo due to her pronounced lack of an online presence, both while in the midst of shooting a project and even beyond. Purnell explained why she recently jumped off of Instagram and why it’s not new behavior for her, saying:

I have to think that the situation will be slightly different filming future seasons now that Amazon has confirmed Fallout was renewed for Season 3 well before Season 2's December premiere date. By the time production gets underway again, Goggins might very well have already taken the top spot in People's Sexiest Men Alive issue.

Fallout Season 2 is set to debut on Prime Video in December 2025, with an exact premiere date yet to be announced.

As soon as President Trump appointed Fox News host Jeanine Pirro as Interim US Attorney for the District Of Columbia this past week, Saturday Night Live fans started speculating that we’d see a return of Cecily Strong. The popular former cast member played Pirro on a semi-regular basis during her tenure on the show, and it’s widely remembered as one of her most popular impressions. It only made sense for the sketch comedy series to comment on the news and for former long-serving SNL cast member Strong to be the one to play her, but what wasn’t as expected was the second cameo SNL gave us.

This week’s episode was hosted by Walton Goggins. There was a lot of talk heading into Saturday about whether we’d get a cameo from his White Lotus co-star Aimee Lou Wood, given there have been relentless rumors about an alleged feud between the two. She was asked about it on the red carpet of the Met Gala and said flat out it wasn’t happening, but given she admitted she was upset about an SNL sketch that featured her earlier in the season, it seemed like a public opportunity to move beyond both lingering stories. That didn’t happen, but what we did get was a cameo from another of Goggins’ White Lotus co-stars: Sam Rockwell.

Rockwell has hosted SNL before, back in 2018, and his acting career has shown off a willingness to get silly now and again. He leaned into that big time last night, as he appeared in a sketch about a woman, played by Jane Wickline, searching for a baby at the zoo after she finds one tiny shoe. To her surprise, it actually belongs to a fully grown Walton Goggins, who happens to have really small feet. They’re later joined by Rockwell, who somehow has even smaller feet. I love it when SNL gets weird. There’s just something about a sketch with a really random and/ or absurd premise that speaks right into my soul. I loved the charades argument on the ferry last week, and I can’t get enough of this stupid baby shoe bit either. Not everything needs to be really intellectual or topical or about politics. SNL is at its best when it’s a balance of both.

Fortunately, we got both last night. As mentioned, we also got the cameo from former longtime Featured Player Cecily Strong. The comedienne left the show after a decade back in 2022 and returned earlier this year for the show’s 50th Anniversary special. A lot of fans thought it was a slam dunk she’d be back the second President Trump announced Pirro as the new US Attorney, but I had some lingering doubt, given she just gave birth to her first child, a baby girl, in April.

Prime comedy opportunities don’t have any respect for maternity leave though, and she showed up to the delight of fans, who gave her a big round of applause when she entered. She earned those claps too, as her Pirro impression was as delightful as ever. You can watch it below…

James Austin Johnson’s President Trump impression is, of course, always excellent, but I also need to comment on Colin Jost’s appearance as Secretary Of Defense Pete Hegseth. Jost typically only appears on camera during Weekend Update, but to the delight of fans, he’s randomly shown up in sketches multiple weeks in a row. With his wife Scarlett Johansson as the upcoming host for next week’s season finale, it’s entirely possible we could get three weeks in a row of sketch appearances, which certainly wouldn’t do anything to shut down those questions as to whether he could be leaving the show.

Rumors about who is staying and who are going are a regular fixture at the end of every SNL season though, and as Strong proved last night and we’ve seen throughout this season, the door is always open for best ex-cast members to return any given week.

The 2025 TV schedule has already offered up an embarrassment of riches by way of Walton Goggins performances, including his twisty revenge narrative on The White Lotus and his twisted non-revenge narrative on The Righteous Gemstones, not to mention voicing Invincible’s Cecil Stedman and making several A-tier talk show appearances. (Where he told the story about his yellow Speedos photo shoot.) He’ll next reprise the intimidating role of The Ghoul on Fallout, and celebrated the end of filming in a visually pleasing way.

Goggins was able to do what plenty of Fallout characters have wanted to do to The Ghoul, in that he dug his fingers into his skin and joyously ripped all of it away from his face. Oh wait, did I say skin? I meant prosthetics. (Videos of people ripping their actual skin off would be more at home within Fallout’s universe.) Check out the Alabama native below as he all but destroys any chances of someone wearing those prosthetic pieces after him.

In context, this video is all the things it should be: funny, celebratory, and oozing Goggins' charisma without him ever having to say anything.

Out of context, and perhaps soundtracked with extremely garish industrial metal, this video is all kinds of nightmarish. With some CGI blood and makeup applied, it could become a perfect option to loop endlessly on giant screen during Halloween parties. Or a Super Bowl parties, if that's how you like 'em.

Walton Goggins talked to CinemaBlend about how amazing Fallout's prosthetics are, and how difficult it was to talk without a nose, as it were, as well as how he approached playing such a popular villain, all without having actually played the games. But the show's global success and acclaim is proof that he didn't really need to.

Ella Purnell And Kyle McLachlan Also Celebrated The End Of Filming Season 2

One character who'd no doubt like to rip The Ghoul to pieces on occasion is Ella Purnell's Lucy, whose father Hank (portrayed by Kyle MacLachlan) played quite the important role in the show's Season 1 finale. No hard feelings behind the scenes, though, as indicated by the cutesy pic below.

Let's all take a second to appreciate a few things. One: this makes it appear as if MacLachlan is still around for the final days of filming the second season, which possibly speaks to his character's lengthy arc. (Or similar midseason disappearance.) Two: this adorable daddy-daughter vibe, which sadly can't get utilized enough in the show. And three: the actor is wearing a hoodie for Broadway Video, which is SNL creator Lorne Michaels' production company. I love a good swag appearance like that.

Aaron Moten Gives A Suited-Up Farewell To Season 2

Last but not least, fans with Amazon Prime subscriptions awaiting Fallout's return can get a look at star Aaron Moten's meched-up look for Season 2 in the post below, which also features Fallout special effects tech Cary Gunnar.

It's pretty fitting for Moten's Maximus to not be smiling, but nobody could keep the grin from spreading across Gunnar's face. And given how excellent all of the show's effects were in Season 1, with equal expectations for the next round, he definitely deserves to be a happy camper.

Now that principal filming has concluded on Fallout's sophomore season, we can start speculating on when we'll finally be able to watch it play out in full. In the meantime, there are quite a few other upcoming video game adaptations that are worthy of consideration.

Aimee Lou Wood made quite a splash during the third season of The White Lotus (which is available to stream with a Max subscription). While Wood was dubbed a scene stealer for her role as the free-spirited Chelsea, she’s been making headlines for other reasons as of late. One of those situations involved her being lampooned on SNL, and Wood didn’t hold back her disappointment with the segment. Now, the star is weighing in on whether she’d actually host the show after that debacle, and Lorne Michaels may want to take notice.

The latest star on the list of upcoming Saturday Night Live hosts is ironically Walton Goggins, who plays Wood’s partner on the HBO dramedy. While the starlet attended this year’s Met Gala (with fellow co-star Patrick Schwarzenegger in tow), she was asked about possibly making a cameo during Goggins’ upcoming episode. Faced with that question from ET, Wood gave a short, but direct, response:

Such a reunion would’ve been massive, considering the rumors that have swirled around the two former co-stars as of late. It’s been alleged that there's a Wood/Goggins feud, due to the fact that the stars didn’t participate in press together and don’t follow each other on Instagram. Goggins also declined to answer questions about the state of his relationship with Wood. He was also at the Met Gala on Monday, and Wood told Access Hollywood that she looked forward to seeing him that night in the hopes of having a “debrief” of sorts.

That supposed drama aside, there’s also the matter of whether the Sex Education alum would appear on Saturday Night Live in general. Fans may be pleased to know that she was quite enthusiastic on that front:

OK, you hear that, Lorne Michaels? The super producer may want to consider this for a few reasons. First off, Aimee Lou Wood’s celebrity status is gradually rising, and it would certainly make sense to have a talented rising star host SNL. Wood also has the comedic chops and could certainly help pull off some funny sketches. Additionally, such a development could ultimately help put any commentary on the parody sketch to rest.

Weeks ago, Saturday Night Live debuted the pre-recorded sketch “The White Potus,” which flipped the script on the show by depicting U.S. President Donald Trump and other public figures as guests at a resort. During the sketch, cast member Sarah Sherman played a version of Chelsea and wore exaggerated false teeth while playing the role. When Wood initially reacted to the sketch, she said she’d been offered apologies (though they didn’t officially come from SNL. As for how she views the drama now, Wood told ET:

The entire situation did indeed gain a lot of attention. Even SNL cast member Bowen Yang weighed in, saying that Aimee Lou Wood’s response was “completely valid. Also, his co-star, Chloe Fineman, said that the sketch was “made with love” and there was no ill will intended. All of that aside, it seems Wood is ready to let bygones be bygones and is open to appearing on Saturday Night Live. While she may not be popping into Walton Goggins’ episode, let’s hope she takes on the hosting reins at some point in the near future.

Walton Goggins' presence on the 2025 TV schedule has been mightily impressive, save for the continuing Aimee Lou Wood drama. Regardless of those BTS details, his performances on White Lotus and the highlight-filled final season of Righteous Gemstones have been captivating, even arresting, we'll say. Funnily enough, Goggins thought he was going to be booked by some actual cops while wearing his bathing suit for participating in a photoshoot during rush hour traffic.

The 53-year-old stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to talk about his success with both of his recent HBO shows (available to stream with a Max subscription), as well as his laid-back lifestyle. During the interview, part of which was shared on Instagram, the Fallout S2 actor broke down how close he came to getting hauled off to jail by a cop, and in his show-stealing Speedos no less.

Goggins talked about posing for some sporadic photography while traipsing about Santa Monica Pier, with visual evidence of his Ferris wheel ride. He described being coaxed into playfully interrupting a female-centric public painting class, and said the plan was then to hit the road to visit another location. Goggins said he was then ready to pull some car stunts in the name of creativity. In his words:

He then took things to the next level by straight up exiting the vehicle as it rolled though active, though slow-moving, traffic. He made it sound safe enough, and it doesn't seem like anyone involved tried to stop him. As such, the shoot continued as he made his way through the cars, successfully Frogger-ing to the sidewalk. But it seems like he wasn't moving forward at the same rate as traffic, so when he heard an authoritative voice, the fun day took an uneasy turn. Here's how he described it:

It feels like it’s a whole saga, this stint with Cultured! He was at one point at the top of a Ferris wheel, posing for the photographer, the next, he’s in a tiny bathing suit alone and a cop is questioning him. Learning about the BTS of this day makes this session an even more unforgettable spread.

Goggins then nervously jumped into explaining to the cop why his outfit, and what he was doing. He quickly realized things looked a little different since the car had to move on, due to it being active traffic. The Hateful Eight alum shared he thought he was going to get arrested, but it all ended with a somewhat surprising twist. He continued:

I love that there was so much going on for the entourage involved with the iconic offering of the newly recognized heartthrob. High stakes, high artistic risks and an unsuspecting fan questioning his actions. Thankfully, all drama was avoided, other than explaining where his crew was. Though if things had gone south, there’s no doubt in my mind Goggins would likely call his pal Pedro Pascal to bail him out.

The Django Unchained star has a brief respite after the almost underwear arrest and Gemstones ending before hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend. Make sure to tune in on the titular night at 11:30 pm EST or stream it the following day with a Peacock subscription.

If you thought The White Lotus’ third-season run on the 2025 TV schedule was rife with drama from the “brotherly love” storyline or toxic female friend group, just wait until you start digging into what happened behind the scenes. Rumors have spread over the past few weeks of a feud between Walton Goggins and Aimee Lou Wood, who played lovers Rick and Chelsea. Things really went downhill for a reporter who repeatedly asked Goggins about it, leading his publicist to end the interview.

Walton Goggins sat down recently with Ed Potton of The Times UK to talk about (among other things) his starring role in The Uninvited, which his wife Nadia Conners directed. When the reporter mentioned how Goggins and Aimee Lou Wood had gone from saying glowing things to and about each other on social media to now not following each other, the Fallout star shut him down, saying:

Two different publicists reportedly echoed Walton Goggins’ sentiment and asked the journalist to move on. They covered what sounds like some tough material, including whether parts of the couple’s relationship in The Uninvited echoed his own marriage and Goggins speaking a bit about his first wife, who died by suicide.

The actor said he had gone to Thailand to recover from that tragedy. So, those emotions were there when he returned to the country for The White Lotus, as Rick had “a story that was different but not so dissimilar from my own.”

Emotions may have been running high when Ed Potton asked about Walton Goggins’ upcoming SNL gig, because the actor also refused to talk about that, possibly because he saw that road leading back to Aimee Lou Wood. Many have linked their feud back to the Saturday Night Live sketch that made fun of Wood’s teeth, which Goggins initially called "smashing" on social media but deleted the comment after the actress called the sketch “mean and unfunny.”

Either way, a publicist tried to steer the interview back to The Uninvited, with Walton Goggins making a sarcastic comment about how obvious that was the topic Ed Potton was “least interested in.” The reporter said he chose to ask about Aimee Lou Wood again anyway, only to be cut off by Goggins, who said:

The Times UK employee tried yet again — a “last forlorn attempt,” he said — and Walton Goggins responded:

At that point the publicist had heard enough and informed the reporter:

As much as everyone wants to know exactly what went down between him and his White Lotus co-star, neither of them seems to be airing out any of their dirty laundry. Goggins made that clear early on in this interview that it was a subject he had no intention of talking about.

One imagines Walton Goggins may have a lot of friends from outside Hollywood, who simply can’t relate to his recent experience. Even if he has other friends who are actors, many of them probably haven’t had a similar experience.

Pedro Pascal would be one man who absolutely understands what’s going on. Like Walton Goggins, the last couple of years have seen Pascal transform from “popular character actor” to “bona fide movie star” thanks to everything from The Mandalorian to The Last of Us and his role in the upcoming Fantastic Four: First Steps. We’re winding down on this current phase of the 2025 TV schedule, and finale season has us all looking forward to the upcoming Saturday Night Live hosts doing their part to close out this milestone system. Part of the final trio of hosts in this year’s lineup is none other than Walton Goggins, and considering the drama that’s surrounded his season of The White Lotus, some have alleged that this decision was a slight against co-star Aimee Lou Wood. That doesn’t look to be the case though, with a reportedly less controversial angle being presented as “the truth.”

Walton Goggins’ SNL Casting Has Allegedly Been In The Works For Some Time

The latest scuttlebutt on the rumored Goggins/Wood feud comes from TMZ, which dug into the matter a little deeper. Per their “sources with direct knowledge” of what’s going on, The Righteous Gemstones actor has been in talks with NBC’s landmark sketch comedy show “long before his name was announced.” Which would make sense, as considering the Fallout actor may also be juggling his commitment to that Prime Video super hit’s second season in production, his schedule is probably booked up.

So to dedicate a week to Saturday Night Live’s rigorous schedule isn’t exactly as simple as hopping a flight to New York. But even with that logic in play, some are bound to continue digging for drama worthy of a Peacock subscription, due to SNL’s recent run in with The White Lotus co-star Aimee Lou Wood.

Why Fans Are Seeing Walton Goggins’ SNL Hosting Gig As A Slight Against Aimee Lou Wood

As if it wasn’t bad enough that rumors of Walton Goggins and Aimee Lou Wood’s feud from The White Lotus Season 3 continue to persist, so does the memory of Saturday Night Live’s now infamous “The White POTUS” sketch. That sketch appeared to take cheap shots at the actor’s recent insecurities with how the media was covering her teeth, and while Wood claimed she received apologies, a later update alleged that SNL did not formally apologize to Sex Education alum.

While we don’t necessarily know the truth surrounding this supposed mending of fences, it appears that cast member Sarah Sherman - the actor who played Aimee Lou Wood’s would-be fictional surrogate - may have been the person who reached out.

It makes sense considering Saturday Night Live’s position on declaring open season on any notable personality or subject that exists in pop culture. However, that doesn’t necessarily translate to the viewing public’s understanding on the matter.

As it stands, it appears that Walton Goggins’ upcoming SNL gig is something that’s been in process for some time. The fact that it happened to be announced at this moment, where supposedly extenuating circumstances color it as a supposed slight, is purely coincidental.

Of course, now everyone’s going to be paying extra special attention to that May 10th episode, wondering if some sort of further comedic comment will be made on behalf of either the sketch or the alleged White Lotus feud. If you’re looking to see it as it happens, Saturday Night Live airs on NBC at 11:35 PM ET, with livestreaming and next-day episode drops going to Peacock.

There are only a few Saturday Night Live episodes left in the show’s milestone 50th season, which means there are only a few more stars on the docket to serve as host. Quinta Brunson is up at bat next, on May 3, while Scarlett Johansson is set to close out the season on May 17. Smack dab in between the two actresses, though, is actor Walton Goggins, who’ll host the show on May 10. As a fan of Goggins, I’m incredibly excited to see what he does, and it would seem that stars like Josh Lucas and Jack Black share my enthusiasm.

It was announced at the end of this past week that Walton Goggins would host Saturday Night Live, with Arcade Fire serving as musical guest. The past several months have seen some excellent SNL hosts take the stage in Studio 8H, but the notion of a comedic talent like Goggins taking the reins truly excites me. When the news was announced, the fan-favorite actor took to his Instagram account to share it. Dax Shepard, Josh Lucas, Jack Black and more stars then took to the comments to hype up Goggins:

You can’t help but smile upon the sight of stars hyping up a fellow performer. Of course, the actors noted above were far from the only users to weigh in enthusiastically, as non-celebrity fans also shared their excitement. These comments are also a true testament to the fact that the Alabama native has more than struck a chord with his various performances. I totally understand the hype, as the Justified cast alum has and continues to put in excellent work.

Although Walton Goggins has been working in Hollywood for some time now, the past several years have truly seen him emerge as a highly-sought-after performer. Fallout, Invincible, George & Tammy and The Righteous Gemstones are just a few of the TV shows on which he’s had starring roles. Most recently, Goggins received praise for his role as Rick Hatchett on The White Lotus (which is available to stream with a Max subscription). Some might say that his “heartthrob status” grew as a result of the HBO anthology series.

It’s interesting to consider what Walton Goggins might do on Saturday Night Live. Right now, I’m tempted to assume that the cast will make use of his Southern heritage and signature drawl while coming up with sketch ideas. There may even be a White Lotus parody during that episode though, after the “White Potus” debacle involving Aimee Lou Wood (who took offense to the sketch lampooning her signature teeth), the show may opt not to craft another parody. A bigger surprise would be if Wood appeared alongside former co-star Goggins on SNL amid rumors that they’re feuding.

We’ll still have to wait a few weeks to see what exactly happens during that particular episode. I’m confident that it’ll be well worth the wait, and that I – along with Dax Shepard, Jack Black and more – will be satisfied with it. For right now, though, let’s keep up the speculation regarding what kind of fun sketches we might see during the show.

It’s been over two weeks since The White Lotus Season 3 finale aired on the 2025 TV schedule, and people can’t stop talking about the HBO series. Part of the reason is what’s happened behind the camera — Aimee Lou Wood clapping back after that SNL impression, Jason Isaacs sticking it to Duke and rumors of feuding amongst the cast, for example. Wood is believed to be at odds with Walton Goggins, but it seems they’ll be forced to reunite soon.

Why Walton Goggins And Aimee Lou Wood Will ‘Have To Be In The Same Room’

Walton Goggins and Aimee Lou Wood played tragic lovers Rick and Chelsea on The White Lotus, and while Chelsea stuck with Rick until the end, fans have picked up on clues that there’s some distance between the two in real life. That’s likely about to change, as CNN entertainment correspondent Elizabeth Wagmeister visited The Viall Files and said she’d been told there is “something on the books” that would reunite the stars. Wagmeister said:

However, attending a work event together doesn’t necessarily mean the feud rumors are false, as she said “work is work.” As the CNN correspondent pointed out:

She compared it to Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s drama, saying any tension between Walton Goggins and Aimee Lou Wood isn’t at that level, because the It Ends with Us stars couldn’t be in the same room to do press for their movie.

Why People Think The White Lotus Co-Stars Are Feuding

So what started all these feud rumors anyway? Jason Isaacs teased plenty of behind-the-scenes happenings when he spoke to The Guardian in February. He didn’t mention names, but he certainly got fans reading into every cast interaction when he said:

Fans were also quick to pick up on the fact that Aimee Lou Wood and Walton Goggins don’t follow each other on Instagram, despite the glowing things they’ve said about each other in interviews. When Goggins posted an emotional tribute to Rick and Chelsea following The White Lotus season finale, thanking many of his co-stars, including Wood, he didn’t tag his on-screen love, even though he wrote:

Some think the Fallout star even blocked Aimee Lou Wood, because her comments are no longer visible on his posts, but his can still be seen on hers.

Another indication that the actors’ off-screen relationship may be bumpy is that Walton Goggins skipped a viewing party in L.A. that many of the cast members attended. He also praised Saturday Night Live’s “The White Potus” sketch that mocked Aimee Lou Wood’s teeth, calling it “smashing” on Instagram Stories.

Lots of little things certainly seem to be adding up — including the actors’ silence on the supposed feud — but if this rumored work engagement actually does come to fruition, there are definitely going to be a lot of eyes on this reunion.

The White Lotus may be over on the 2025 TV schedule, but that doesn’t mean I won’t be thinking about that emotional finale for weeks to come. The last episode of Season 3 was full of surprises, but the one I can’t get out of my head is how Chelsea and Rick both ended up being dead bodies. It was especially frustrating because Aimee Lou Wood’s Chelsea was so innocent, and it felt like she could have definitely saved herself by simply walking away.

However, when Wood spoke to Bustle about the finale, she shared a heart-achingly solid reason why that was not in the cards for Chelsea. During the interview, it was brought up how the fan-favorite character seemed to feel like she could “fix” Walton Goggins' Rick, but the actress brought up how we can’t fix Chelsea either. In her words:

This is an extremely good point. While it’s easy to make Chelsea a victim of circumstance, under her free will, she was with Rick, and despite all the red flags and concerns in front of her, she chose to run toward the fire. As she mentioned, her co-star Patrick Schwarzenegger was even bummed that his character couldn’t have died over her, but as she continued:

She went on to say that maybe if her character really worked on herself, she would have made a different choice. However, tragically, that's not how it went down:

There’s a lot of talk about Rick being the one to be worried about because he was on a revenge mission to kill the man who killed his father. However, Chelsea sees and hears the place Rick is in, and rather than saving herself, she chooses the path of loving him and sticking by him, even trying to “save” him during their Thailand vacation.

During the interview, Wood also shared how she thinks the character has “so much shit she has not dealt with and processes” and looks to things like the zodiac, spirituality books, aphorisms and mantras to soothe and make sense of things. And while Chelsea thinks she’s being drawn to Rick through “fate,” it’s really “some unhealed shit.”

Wood’s comments about Chelsea offer some bigger insights into what her character and Rick are exploring as the season itself as a whole got into the theme of spirituality and religion with its various characters. We were spending our time having theories about Rick and his father, but I can’t believe I didn’t see Chelsea and Rick’s emotional death scenes coming.

After seven weeks of girlfriends backstabbing each other in relatable ways, male characters showing full-frontal dong, the rare example of same-sex TV incest and Jason Isaacs as a ticking time bomb with a questionable accent, The White Lotus Season 3 is now coming to an end, with an abundance of storylines wrap up with presumably shocking reveals. Rather than keeping all my thoughts locked up inside my head while watching, I decided to lay them all out in live-blog form while the episode aired.

I've already made a few predictions about what will and won't go down in the finale, but I'll also lay out the characters I think are most likely to die, whether due to the unidentified shooter(s) mystery or other means.

Update: Since I didn't actually expect 10 characters to get killed off, I'll try to think of it as a positive takeaway that two of my top four picks met their maker. Even if it sucks to be right about #1.

It's the biggest night of the year for Mike White's HBO hit, and I can already tell I'll need one or twelve deep-tissue massages and spiritual consultations around 90 minutes from now. It's the last Season 3 opening title sequence we'll get from the 2025 TV schedule, and I think I'll miss it now more than I thought I would have in the first half of the season. Still not the banger that came before, but a worthy successor. As if my approval is needed.

Lochlan watching Piper wake up, with his hands in his pockets no less, is not the kind of imagery I want to associate with Buddhist teachings. The same goes for Tim popping pills while wearing his ever-present Duke T-shirt.

Was Jaclyn reading Sritala's memoir? Is she going to learn something interesting from the actress' past?

Sam Rockwell's Frank may very well be Season 3's biggest tragedy, despite the fact that he never quite seemed truly unhappy while onscreen. Especially while he was rolling down that hotel hallway. What a fucked up li'l rascal in his bikini briefs.

Gaitok is going to report the robbery and everything will go smoothly in the way he expects....is what I would say if I were Bizarro White Lotus viewer.

Laurie is hungover and feeling awful at the exact time Jaclyn chooses to take the higher road and apologize. Just like a terrible friend, amirite? I still wish Laurie would have taken something jewel-shaped from her sexual tryst.

A big gigantic LOL at Belinda forgetting that Zion and Pornchai already met under the least comfortable circumstances.

I totally understand Belinda's reasoning for not taking Greg/Gary's $100,000 hush money, but I also think Zion has the right idea in telling her to try to game the presumably guilty killer into offering more money.

Belinda's animal-covered shirt feels like a clue I can't get into obsessing over at the moment.

I'm torn between how much of Piper's reaction to her temple stay was genuine, and how much of it came as a response to Lochlan so confidently saying he would be joining her when she moved there.

Props to Sarah Catherine Hook for that scene, too. She mostly convinced me, but her reactions to Lochlan previously still have me suspicious. Plus, Victoria's own reaction to Piper's pampered comments was enough to make me throw up into Tim's confiscated pill bottle.

Dammit, Piper. Don't be like them. Don't be like herrrrr.

Oh. My. Lanta. Lochlan's attempt to confront Saxon over THAT brotherly handjob was hard to watch. And my hears started to ooze brain fluid when this came out.

Jesus, Lochlan. Say less. Say nothing.

Even though Gaitok has the show's version of Chekov's gun, I would rather see him get into a big fist fight with Valentin over the robbery. Especially if it mirrors the fight coverage from the penultimate episode.

Hahahahahaha. Just as Saxon was starting to find a reason to feel fully human for possibly the first time in his adult life, true sunshine burst out of Aimee Lee Wood as she ran to hug the now-returned Rick. I kinda hate myself for thinking she's the most likely person to get offed.

It wouldn't be the worst thing for audiences if both Chloe and Saxon died by running head-on into each other at full speed.

The fact that Tim has to rely on Lochlan being the only family member who isn't obsessed with money, but is obsessed with pleasing people, is the one who might tip the depressed and potentially murderous-suicidal criminal into not going fully over the edge. Maybe all he needs is a handjob. I won't say from who, though....

I don't know if I believe Valentin's claims to Gaitok or not, although I'm inclined to, given that he sort of outed himself with his plea.

But I don't really care either way, I guess. I'm fine with him taking whatever fall needs to happen.

As soon as someone in a TV show refers to another thing as a "Suicide Tree," there's no question whether or not that fruit will be used in the most nefarious of ways. Especially when such a detail is revealed to arguably the WORST PERSON WHO COULD LEARN THAT FACT.

Greg/Gary always has "dentist office waiting room with a broken TV, weak WiFi and zero magazines" energy, and it would make me extremely anxious about ever telling him anything that came across as even slightly off-putting. Even if he wouldn't kill me first thing, he might start talking more, and he's just not that interesting a guy.

But power to Zion for having the mega-balls to put a figure like $5 million on the table before showing his cards to say he looked into Tanya's net worth.

He probably should have capped it off there without questioning how many days Greg/Gary has left on the planet. I love that Belinda played into Zion's plan without him even knowing it. Smart woman. Outside of trying to bilk money out of a murderer, anyway.

If Tim is truly trying to kill only himself, he's likely going to also take Saxon down unintentionally by using that blender. You just KNOW Saxon has some kind of smoothie recipe to counteract shock and sudden depression.

Mook turning down Gaitok's nice-guy behavior is not surprising in the slightest. So if that doesn't turn around and blow up in her face somehow - presumably through drowning-by-testosterone - it's possible I don't understand what her storyline was supposed to be at all.

I didn't see Laurie confessing her Aleksei encounter so soon into reconnecting with the others.

Also, how many hours does Valentin work during each day's shift? If he's not with the friend trio, he's always in uniform.

Chelsea getting to speak the line where the episode's title is mentioned...

...then saying that whatever Rick does to hurt himself hurts her...

...then finally, at long last recognizing the lack of forever-dom in their relationship. Ouch.

Seeing those big emotional eyes well up makes me want to go back and smack myself for judging the character's naivety in the past. Chelsea deserves only the best!

Wow, Laurie's monologue is quite possibly the most well-written and authentic-sounding admission of self-reflection possible in the world of The White Lotus. I wish I had the ability to say certain things to some of my oldest friends that could possibly unlock deeper pathways to happiness.

Maybe I just need to make and then spend a lavish amount of money on a vacation to make that happen.

The backwards music was the perfect background for Tim's backwards approach to "helping" his greed-soaked family as he poured everyone's poison-filled piña coladas.

I wonder how much they need to drink for it to work, sinc ethey all definitely drank some before his conscience finally kicked into gear. They should have all followed his advice to Lochlan.

What a psychopath, trying to go to bed immediately after trying to murder his family, without even making the attempt to clean anything up himself. Very foreboding shot of the uncleaned blender.

Gonna need a comedic White Lotus spinoff called All Them Danged Monkeys.

Holy shit, Belinda got her money, with Greg/Gary saying he was giving it to Tanya as much as he gave it to Belinda herself.

What. Kind. Of. A. Fucking. Gross. Moron. Is. Lochlan.

I didn't think he deserved a super-heinous fate for anything that happened earlier in Season 3, but making a morning smoothie after not having cleaned the blender used the night before that supposedly had bad coconut milk in it? He deserves whatever.

Walton Goggins' Rick standing toe to toe with Scott Glenn's Jim just naturally makes for great TV, but it's even better when the latter rocks the former's world by claiming Rick's mom lied about what happened to his dad.

What a way to break someone's spirits, too:

He could have sent that message in an email, if only Rick had left his email!

Doesn't look like anyone suffered anything too terrible from the bit they drank the night before? But Lochlan doesn't look like he'll make it through breakfast-time.

And now we've come full circle back to how the Season 3 premiered started, with Zion starting his wellness session with Amrita. She tells Rick she'll catch back up with him again in one hour, but we know that won't happen with all the gunfire that starts up.

Okay, so Lochlan's death scene - interpreted as him drowning in a pool surrounded by monks' shadows - made for a more tragic outcome than I anticipated. I love the way it reflected the interpretation of death he heard at the temple.

Tim Ratliff should get the award for "Most Powerful Hindsight When It Comes To Cleaning Out Poisoned Appliances Before Passing Out." I definitely feel bad for him, considering he can now officially add "accidental filicide" to his rap sheet.

Ugh, speaking of full-circle moments, I am a bit sickened by seeing Belinda doing the same thing with Pornchai that Tanya did with her, in a manner of speaking. Albeit under different cirumstances, but still.

Fucking Rick. I wish that was just a dream sequence, but no. None of it.

Not Rick taking Jim's gun and shooting him in cold blood in front of all kinds of witnesses which was fucked up enough.

But it also wasn't a dream when Rick learned that Jim is actually his biological father. What. The. Fuck.

Turns out Rick is pretty damned amazing with a gun, seeing as how he took out the Lotus' security team with deadly accurate headshots. But it turns he should have been a better shield than a weapon, as his actions inevitably led to Chelsea's death.

R.I.P. the most innocent White Lotus character.

Of course the one time Gaitok decides to prove himself to be a man, it's listening to his boss and putting a stop to the man who opened fire inside a hotel resort. Oh, wait, that was actually the move he was supposed to make, even if viewers didn't want to see it happen.

But goddamn, Gaitok had no real idea if Chelsea was really dead or not, and didn't appear to be all that interested in checking after she was dumped into the water.

R.I.P. Rick, you tragic mistake, you.

I'm taking back anything that sounded nice about Lochlan's earlier scene, as it wasn't a true death at all! He just went unconscious for a while, and woke up after a bit, even though Tim seemingly didn't do a lick of CPR on his son.

I thought Tim might even jump off of the boat after it left, but no, he just gave some half-assed advice to his family to prepare for sour grapes when they get back to the U.S. Not the best mental chaser to the strangest family vacation they'll likely ever have, but at least he didn't kill his own kid. What a hero.

Looks like Chloe and Greg/Gary will get to play out his "got caught cheating" roleplay fantasy. So it was all worth it in the end, I guess.

Natasha and Pornchai's love story better continue in a different season or a different show or a video game or an airline pamphlet or SOMETHING. What they had was real, and unlike Tanya, she doesn't have another romantic relationship pulling her away from the plans they talked about.

So I want to believe she'll give him a call after she gets settled and feels safe enough.

IT'S OVER. The blood has stopped flowing. The boats have stopped...rowing. (No need to rhyme here.) The Ratliffs have left the building, which means the building is now far less controversial and grimy than it was when they were guests. Speaking of, let's wrap with a round-up of conclusions for the major stories.

• The Ratliffs: Nobody died, and no one found any true catharsis, and Tim is set to face major consequences for his white-collar crimes. It's presumed that Lochlan will remain clueless about why his protein shake truly threatened his health, and Saxon will remain clueless about why he let Lochlan jerk him off. IT'S NORMAL, OKAY, DEAL WITH IT.
• Gaitok: Unable to make his romantic connection with Mook work, Gaitok was shown to have ascended to the idealized role of Sritala's driver, having been the one to quickly avenge Rick's attack on Jim. Of course, Rick helped by first taking out most of Gaitok's colleagues.
• Laurie, Jaclyn and Kate: Despite having the most innate drama rise to the surface throughout the season, the three lifelong BFFs made it out of Thailand with a bond that's possibly stronger than ever.
• Belinda and Greg/Gary: For all the predictions and theories that something would go completely haywire with these two history-sharing characters, it looks like the affluent widower made good on his part of the deal, and Belinda is now $5 million (and one killer secret) richer. Assuming the boat she and Zion left on wasn't bombed, of course.
• Rick and Chelsea: Alas, the star-crossed lovers become bullet-crossed victims. And Rick died knowing that he'd just shot his real father, whom he'd held years of unwarranted hatred, while carrying the corpse of a loyal lover whose death he all but guaranteed with his actions. No Buddhist-inspired peace for Rick, even if his demise literally had him floating in water.

Thank you to everyone who read along during that wild-ass finale. It'll be a while before I get back back to my normal heartrate. And I'll be looking out for updates about Season 4 in the meantime.

Even though it feels like we just pulled up to the welcome dock at The White Lotus’s Ko Samui resort, and somehow our erotically disturbing and stress-swept journey has only one last leg to go during the 2025 TV schedule in the form of the Season 3 finale, "Amor Fati." So many storylines need to be wrapped up in the installment, which will be around 90 minutes in length, with the mystery shooter situation still the biggest question mark.

But before it can all get laid out for us in full for another delightfully twisted night of HBO programming, let’s make a few weighted guesses about what definitely won’t happen before the finale’s credits roll, as well as a couple of things that likely will.

Definitely Won't Happen: Gary Reveals That He Actually Is 100% Innocent Of Everything That Was Ever Suspected Of Him

To see actor Jon Gries in interviews and in lighter roles from his career, and it's almost shocking how quickly he becomes the guiltiest-looking person in the room while in the role of The White Lotus' name-switching Gary. Through all three seasons so far, the slow-moving character has earned the ire of every Tanya-adoring viewer, but all without the show every fully proving him to be a black widower culprit.

His explanation to Belinda in Episode 307 almost seemed like it could have been sincerely true, if only it had been uttered by anyone else but Gary. I don't fully suspect that creator Mike White will tip his hat 100% in the direction of Gary's guilt, but I am entirely convinced that the show will not wrap up this storyline by revealing that Gary-as-Greg hasn't ever done anything wrong or put anyone else in danger, and that his health issues have been entirely authentic. Not gonna happen.

Probably Will: Tim Keeps The Family In Thailand As A Fugitive

The White Lotus has been almost uncomfortably content with showing audiences exactly what it would look like if Jason Isaacs' tension volcano Tim murdered his entire family before turning a weapon on himself. (To the disgust of Duke representatives, among others.) But even if Gaitok hadn't already stolen the gun back without Tim's knowledge, I still don't think it's in the Southern-bred pill-popper's nature to go out on such a sordid and headline-making note.

Instead, I think Tim will come to the realization that his best attempt to avoid all of his legal troubles and financial woes stateside is to avoid going back home altogether, with his family necessarily staying near to avoid their own investigations. Granted, all of their assets have likely been frozen, and I doubt any of them are keeping giant cash bags around, but it’s far easier to envision Tim embracing Buddhist minimalism than to picture him opting for murder-suicide.

Definitely Won't Happen: Laurie Makes Three Wise Decisions In A Row That Benefit Her Mental Health, Job Life, And Friendship Choices

I think we all know someone like Laurie who seems to only make the kinds of decisions they know they’ll regret later. Even if that assumption is largely influenced by Jaclyn and Kate’s smack-talk, Carrie Coon’s character certainly hasn’t tried to buck their expectations at all, with her ill-considered sexual conquest as the latest example.

Granted, I think that festering resentment stems from her having previously been in love with Jaclyn’s husband, and that the latter’s infidelity reopened some of Laurie’s old wounds. Regardless, The White Lotus’ finale will most definitely not feature a good-decision montage in which Laurie permanently elevates her sunny disposition, makes the best possible job change, and finds a set of new friends whom she doesn’t harbor ill thoughts towards. I think she’s stuck in her unfortunate-but-relatable friend triangle for the long haul.

Probably Will: Jim Hollinger Fucks Rick's World All Up

Fresh off of playing Vince Vaughn’s father in Bad Monkey, Scott Glenn entered the monkey-focused White Lotus as a bad man responsible for killing someone else’s father. (Impossible to typecast this guy.) But despite Jim Hollinger arrival being prefaced with allusions to health problems, and despite the performance feeding into that, Glenn isn’t the actor one casts to flinch and cower and fail to respond when another man pushes his chair over.

No, Glenn is the dude who gets cast to show up out of nowhere and rain untimely hell onto whoever is most deserving. And with Rick utilizing Sirita to find her hubby, she knows exactly where he’ll be going after leaving Bangkok. I fully believe that Jim faked his feebleness more convincingly than Sam Rockwell’s Frank faked being a movie director, and that he will return in the finale to brutally wipe the contented smile from the face of Walton Goggins’ character. And that Aimee Lou Wood’s scene-stealing Chelsea will be amazing as it all goes down.

Definitely Won't Happen: Saxon And Lochlan Explore Their Incestuous Feelings Via Family Meeting

Perhaps The White Lotus’ biggest shocker came when Patrick Schwarzenegger’s Saxon proved himself to be a three-dimensional human in the aftermath of getting freaky to the deaky with Lochlan. That said, the ego-maniac came to the self-realization that he’s but a hollowed-out husk without the dependable comforts of a wealthy hetero lifestyle, while Lochlan didn’t exactly seem very normal when visiting the temple with Piper. This trio of offspring could definitely do with an endless cycle of therapy.

That said, I certainly do not foresee Saxon and Lochlan addressing their complicated feelings head-on with each other, which makes the eventuality of the entire Ratliff family talking about their brotherly love about as likely as Parker Posey’s Victoria growing a second head just to show off her hats. One can only hope that learning about the horrors awaiting Tim back at home completely overshadow every single atypical moment that went down on Chloe’s boat. It’s fine (and deserved) if he still remembers Chelsea repeatedly turning him down.

Other Quick-Take Predictions For The White Lotus' Season 3 Finale

• Belinda will get, and keep, Pornchai's number.
• Zion will not agree to have sex with Chloe for the sake of Gary catching them in a fit of horny jealousy.
• Chloe will find someone to volunteer after Zion says no.
• Jaclyn will not reach self-awareness about her own destructive behavior.
• Kate will end up giving one of the Russians money that they lie about needing.
• Valentin will not ever watch any of Jaclyn's movies.
• Victoria will discover Tim took all her pills and will illogically try to make him throw them back up.
• Piper will not think Buddhism is cool anymore after Tim and Lochlan have shown interest.
• Gaitok will risk his life to save Mook's, only to realize she is not the perfect match like he imagined.
• Frank will continue to abuse substances until it kills him.
• Fabian will not land a record deal or Las Vegas residency.
• Chelsea will realize that trying to be a motherly protector to Rick is on the same spectrum of weirdness as Saxon and Lochlan's mess.

The White Lotus’ third season has already given the 2025 TV schedule a huge dose of foreboding foreshadowing, with several different plotlines seeming like the surefire catalyst for the sporadic gunfire heard in the season premiere’s opening sequence. Jason Isaacs’ Tim certainly seems ready to explode (not in reference to his full-frontal penis flash), while security guard Gaitok is seemingly being targeted. And then there’s Walton Goggins’ worry-mongering Rick, whose mysterious resort-visiting motivations were finally revealed.

Getting any kind of confirmation on where Rick’s head is at is a good thing, but his therapeutic conversations with Amrita pretty much already gave fans what they needed to make those connections. As such, my biggest question about the snake-fearing Goggins’ snake-freeing character had already moved beyond his reasoning for visiting this particular branch of the White Lotus brand. But we’ll get to that in a few.

Why Rick Is At Thailand's White Lotus Resort

As previously revealed, Rick’s childhood and later years were heavily impacted by the sudden death of his father, whom he says he never had a chance to know. While the details surrounding that claim are still wishy-washy and unclear, Rick finally broke down in “Hide and Seek” and confessed to Chelsea that the whole reason they’re even in Thailand is based on a death-bed confession from his mother.

She claimed that Rick’s father was murdered by a man named Jim Hollinger, who just so happens to be the husband of Ko Samui’s White Lotus co-owner Sritala, as portrayed by local legend Lek Patravadi. Of course, as it was already made clear in the first episode, the target in question had a medical emergency and was taken to a hospital in Bangkok, throwing a wrench into Rick’s plans.

So as viewers go into Episode 5, we have a far clearer picture of the feelings and emotions that drove Rick to travel halfway across the planet to look into the eyes of the man who (at least allegedly) helped send him down a path of recklessness and criminal activity. But despite being as close as he is to potential catharsis, not even Rick knows what he’ll actually do when facing his would-be tormentor.

And while this story could very well turn out to be genuine with all of the details that have been revealed thus far, I know I’m not alone in harboring the suspicion that Rick’s mom wasn’t telling her son the truth, and that he’s held onto this revenge-esque mission for all the wrong reasons. Which isn’t to say I think either his dad or Jim Hollinger are angels at heart, but just that neither man’s fate is quite as set in stone as Rick believes.

Now viewers’ curiosities can be more pinpointed on exactly what Rick is going to do if and when he crosses paths with the man he thinks killed his father. And whether or not either of them will actually be at the resort when all the gunfire goes down. But until then, I’ll be hoping my biggest question about Rick’s trip gets answered.

My Actual Biggest Question About Rick

Given the breadth of Walton Goggins’ performances across his career so far, I can easily buy into him playing a man whose rope is reaching its end, and he’s making what may be his final moves as a way of finding catharsis. But am I nutty for thinking that this kind of potential suicide mission is one that’s best taken alone, without a doting significant other constantly questioning his actions and mindstates?

If not, then my biggest question is this: why did Rick even bring Chelsea with him to the White Lotus if romance was never the goal, and all he wants to do is ignore her? And why are they even together?

To be fair, I think Aimee Lou Wood has imbued Chelsea with all the right levels of kindness, compassion and youthful verve, and after four episodes, I feel as close to convinced as possible that something resembling true love is what brought these two together, even if Rick is clearly unable to display that side of himself while on the island. So I can generally buy into the idea that they hooked up on a whim and it all clicked enough to keep the good times rolling, based solely on the smiles that Wood beams at Goggins.

And sure, it makes sense for Chelsea to want to go on the trip with Rick, considering White Lotus locations are as lush and luxurious as it gets. But if he went all the way out there with even the smallest inclination that he might commit a vengeful murder, doesn’t it feel like a truly shitty move for him to put his girlfriend through that kind of stress in a country so far away from home?

It’d be one thing if he showed even the most minimal signs of affection for Chelsea, but Rick doesn’t seem like he ever wants to be around anyone, and only wants to sit and fester his foul feelings. Which he could have very easily done alone, and without having to hurt a nice person’s feelings on a daily basis.

Perhaps the idea was that Chelsea’s presence and influence might ward him away from committing any overtly stupid acts while abroad, or that she would keep him too busy and occupied to obsess over his father’s supposed killer. Sadly, that hasn’t been the case, and all he’s really done is push her into the friendly embrace of a woman who is dating a presumed murderer. And that’s just a random week at the White Lotus.

On-screen nudity is a topic that gets a lot of attention. We’ve seen more male nudity on screen in recent years - Patrick Schwarzenegger recently did it for White Lotus - but those who tune in to the new season of The Righteous Gemstones will also see Walton Goggins' character go full frontal. But there's a twist to the scene because it’s not actually Walton Goggins.

Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Walton Goggins discussed his character’s nude scene and the fact that he actually had, as he puts it, a “dick double” for the shot. Apparently, it will be somebody else’s junk on full display. If you’re now wondering how much the unnamed actor's privates might resemble Walton Goggins, it’s unclear, as that’s not part of the, uh, casting process, as the Fallout actor said…

Of course, if Walton Goggins doesn’t get to pick his “dick double” the next and most obvious question is, who does? I am now fascinated by the casting process for a stunt penis. Surely, something like that has to be handled in a very delicate way, even for a comedy series. Who makes these decisions, and what exactly are the criteria?

Nudity doubles are not uncommon. While many actors don't mind getting naked on camera, others outright refuse on-screen nudity. If an actor doesn't want to disrobe, but the nudity is seen, for whatever reason, as necessary, then somebody else steps in.

Jimmy Kimmel was as perplexed as I am, asking the question, “Why don’t you get to pick?” and I get it. While on the one hand, choosing somebody else to be on your on-screen penis is weird. On the other hand, having somebody else make that decision for you feels weirder.

Interestingly, it seems that these decisions are made “sight unseen,” as it were, as even the people running the show don’t actually see what they’re…working with…when casting for the role. It’s perhaps understandable as that might enter into a questionable legal area. As Goggins explained…

Interestingly, picking a double from pictures of naked men apparently was the process when picking a "willy double" for the Watchman series back in 2019, so things seemingly have changed.

However, while Walton Goggins may not have been able to choose his “dick double” he did have some control of the double’s performance. Since he decided how he would move during the scene, it meant the double would need to mimic those actions, which apparently led to some hilarious results. Season 4 of The Righteous Gemstones starts on HBO this Sunday. It’s unclear which episode will have the now-infamous nude scene. I suppose you’ll have to watch with a Max subscription to find out.

Remember last year when Fallout came out? Walton Goggins had the internet blowing up over a “homeless radioactive cowboy with no nose” for the video game adaptation. Not even a year later, the actor is in one of the biggest shows on the 2025 TV schedule as the mysterious Rick Hatchett in White Lotus Season 3. When his White Lotus girlfriend Aimee Lou Wood was asked about his "heartthrob status,” she had an interesting perspective on working with him as Fallout was rolling out.

Aimee Lou Wood is just as much of a standout as Walton Goggins is on The White Lotus, as Rick’s partner Chelsea. While she’s just trying to have a fun vacation in Thailand with her man, there’s clearly something dark and sinister ahead for Rick. Here’s what Wood told Decider about working with the actor last year at the same time Fallout became a global hit on Amazon Prime:

The White Lotus cast were shooting Season 3 for seven months between February and August. (As the cast told CinemaBlend, they spent most of their time at the very fancy Four Seasons resort alongside each other where they filmed.) As you may recall, Fallout premiered for those with an Amazon Prime subscription on April 10 of last year.

This meant that the cast got to be around as Walton Goggins was becoming even more famous for his role as The Ghoul on the series – which included a lot of thirsty fans. Wood also said this:

Aimee Lou Wood is having her own moment of gaining viral popularity right now, after getting to share tons of scenes with Walton Goggins in The White Lotus. Knowing how popular and loved the actor is, the actress could have let intimidation get to her, but she decided she needed to treat him like his character rather than let herself “freak” out.

Though, we’d think she would have been a lot more intimidated if she was working alongside The Ghoul, requiring the actor in hours of prosthetics – which at first took five hours before the makeup team got the process down to two hours. When the actor shot the role, he had told Variety it was “fucking hot” and it’d be “exhausting” at the end every day. Of course, we’ve heard Thailand was also steamy. That, or Walton Goggins officially heats up any room he’s in.

With its third Season 3 outing, The White Lotus already started setting the stage for Jon Gries’ shady AF Greg/Gary to redirect his focus to endangering the life of Natasha Rothwell’s Belinda, and I can’t imagine the impending yacht trip with the Ratliff family will be an encouraging preface for it. But the most baffling sequence in the episode belonged to Walton Goggins’ timebomb Rick.

At this point, viewers aren’t yet fully aware of why Rick is at this White Lotus location, considering he’s either listlessly angry or lethargic, but he’s targeting the absentee husband of resort owner Sritala, and is also apparently dealing with the long-gestating trauma of his father’s murder. So we’re already worried about Goggins’ Rick, and such worries exploded after one of the most nerve-rattling scenes of any 2025 TV show so far, which apparently dovetailed with the actor’s real-life fears.

Speaking with EW, the Fallout co-star didn’t mince words when addressing his innate discomfort when filming the snake show sequence that not only had him watching other actors physically handle the reptiles, but also holding a pretty massive one himself after letting the majority of them free. Here’s how Goggins felt about it:

Here here for snake liberation! But not so much for lacing prerolled joints at local dispensaries, assuming that was indeed a root cause for Rick falling backwards into the Twilight Zone for a few minutes. I can't imagine that untainted marijuana would make anyone sweat buckets the way Rick does.

In any case, I'm now unclear on how much of that sequence's effectiveness was due to Walton Goggins' legitimate nervousness, and how much can be put on him just being a solid actor through and through. I think it would absolutely come down to how much of his facial sweat was real, and how much was applied before each shot. Because both the actor and character looked as genuinely miserable as could be.

On the flip side, Aimee Lou Wood shared none of her co-star's ill feelings about filming the snake show scene, but wasn't entirely unsympathetic to his woes. As she put it:

That's a classy move for both the actress and her character Chelsea, who wound up being bitten by one of the many reptiles that Rick let loose. She survived, and doesn't seem to have any lasting effects from the incident, but time will tell whether it'll come back to haunt her.

When it comes to narrative thematics and foreshadowing, Walton Goggins talked about how the snake show chaos is representative Rick's own inner turmoil and how he views his current situation. As he put it:

That answer can provide as much or as little insight into Rick's situation as one wishes to seek out. Is the man he's tracking down responsible for putting Rick on a downward spiral, perhaps in connection with his father's death? Or is someone else the "writer" here, and Sritala's husband is just a middleman of sorts?

I know I'll be watching future episodes as intently as can be, and as far away from any poisonous snakes as can be, when HBO debuts new The White Lotus episodes every Sunday night at 8:00 p.m.

Who’s ready to get weird in Thailand? One of the most anticipated series on the 2025 TV schedule is upon us, in Mike White’s long-awaited third season of The White Lotus. After Season 2 ended in the shocking death of Jennifer Coolidge’s Tanya McQuoid, we’ll see a (mostly) new cast of eccentric characters check in to the titular resort when the series premieres February 16. White got fans hyped with promises of a “longer, bigger, crazier” season, and while critics are praising Season 3, many are saying it starts a bit slow and is less comedic than its predecessors.

In addition to an impressive new cast that includes Harry Potter alum Jason Isaacs, Carrie Coon, Walton Goggins, Michelle Monaghan and Patrick Schwarzenegger, to name a few, Season 1 fan favorite Natasha Rothwell is back, as her character Belinda is in Thailand as part of the resort’s exchange program. The trailer looks as unhinged as ever, and Emma Kiely of Collider confirms Season 3 is “irresistibly entertaining,” rating it a 7 out of 10 and writing:

Only the first six of the eight-episode season were released to critics, so any big reveals or twists remain under wraps. Still, Alison Herman of Variety agrees that it takes time for the pieces to come together in Season 3, and even for Mike White to reveal all the pieces the characters are playing with. However, once it gets going, the newest offering is White’s most ambitious. Herman writes:

Nick Levine of NME, meanwhile, declares The White Lotus television’s most essential destination, giving it a 4-out-of-5-star rating. The pacing issues that slightly blemish the first two episodes are a result of introducing so many characters, Levine points out, and were also present in the first two highly regarded seasons (which can be streamed with a Max subscription). The review continues:

Niv M. Sultan of Slant feels that after the Season 3 premiere kicks off with its signature murder and then flashes back to “One Week Earlier,” the characters are content to simply stew in their established misery. The cast is great, though, and the first six episodes still pack a punch, the critic says. Sultan gives it 2.5 out of 4 stars, writing:

Belen Edwards of Mashable says The White Lotus is still “a pressure cooker of social tensions and personal crises,” with fantastic performances from top to bottom. Overall, however, Season 3 attempts to do too much, threatening to spiral into bloat. The review continues:

Every one of the reviews I read praised the cast in its entirety for their work on The White Lotus Season 3. Fans of the Mike White series will have to watch for themselves to see if the darker, slower and decidedly less funny direction is for them. Ending a TV show is a precise formula of knowing when to exit, while not leaving anything unsaid. Creator Danny McBride’s The Righteous Gemstones is the latest comedy on the 2025 TV schedule to try and walk that tightrope, and I’m reminded of that fact after seeing co-star Walton Goggins’ celebration of this last spin with organized religion.

While the end is near and the days are numbered, I have two big questions that need to be answered before we all get to say “amen.” So let’s take a closer walk with these issues, so when it comes time to read these final verses, it isn’t only your Max subscription that’s ready to serve.

What In The Name Of Aimee-Leigh Has Happened To John Goodman’s Eli Gemstone?

The Season 3 finale of The Righteous Gemstones seemed to leave all involved in a pretty sweet spot. Throughout a season that saw Eli Gemstone (John Goodman) and his family fend off an attack from Peter Montgomery, played by White Lotus cast member Steve Zahn. The final episode ended on an upbeat note, with everyone enjoying each other’s company, and wrecking stuff up with the holiest of holy monster trucks, sing it with me, “Re-DEEM-ERRRRRRRR!”

However, as you can see in Mr. Goggins’ big send off for this uproarious comedy, the road to the end is a bit more complicated than expected:

The Righteous Gemstones’ Season 4 teaser feels like a huge leap from Eli seeming to find a new successor in Gideon (Skyler Gisondo) to sending our friend on an unending booze cruise. Though it does mean we get to see Danny McBride, Edi Patterson, and Adam Devine try to guess which of the best Tom Hanks movies their on-screen father reminds them of.

With that in mind, let’s move on to that second question in the air. And for this one, my mind randomly wandered into a deeper corner of Gemstones lore that some may have forgotten about. But as they say, the lore works in mysterious ways.

Will We Macaulay Culkin’s Harmon Freeman Return In The Righteous Gemstones' Final Season?

Turning back to Walton Goggins for our next question, The Righteous Gemstones’ last hurrah seems to put his ever hustling character Baby Billy Freeman back in the high life. The man’s got a new Teen Jesus pilot that needs to workshop its title, as well as his flourishing second family through wife Tiffany (Valyn Hall).

But back in Season 2, it was revealed that Billy had abandoned a son named Harmon in 1993, who we see him reunite with in the present day. Played by Macaulay Culkin, The Righteous Gemstones saw estranged father and son seem to patch things up, for the sake of their futures.

While we haven’t seen Harmon Freeman since Season 2’s eighth episode “The Prayer of a Righteous Man”, that encounter did end with both men smiling - even if Billy’s was colored with blood from getting knocked out.

I don’t know what it’d take to make this happen, but maybe if HBO’s lawyers sweeten the deal by helping Culkin buy the original Home Alone house as he’d half intended, we could see this moment of closure. Or maybe they just need to make a formal offer, like most other productions do.

It's hard to think we're almost seven years out from The Righteous Gemstones' first announcement. And now, it's time to repent, for final season premiere is set to arrive on March 9th. So if you haven’t watched the show, or need a refresher, don’t worry. I haven’t spoiled anything major, and there’s plenty of laughs to go around.

Walton Goggins has been enjoying success in Hollywood for a long time now. His career stretches back to the early 1990s when he did single episodes of shows like JAG and had supporting roles in movies like The Next Karate Kid, and he now stands out as a prominent character actor and TV star. As far as fame is concerned, however, his role on the Prime Video series Fallout has taken his status to a whole new level, and he has a story that perfectly illustrates that fact.

Shows like Justified and The Righteous Gemstones may have substantial followings, but Walton Goggins has found that Fallout is its own thing – judging by how often he is now being recognized in public. His performance as the Ghoul in the excellent video game adaptation has very much struck a chord with people, as he recently explained in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. Said Goggins,

Continuing, the actor acknowledged that there was one particular day in recent months when he fully recognized the impact of Fallout. While on a trip abroad with his family, he not only had multiple people come up to him recognizing him from the streaming series, but multiple people from multiple countries:

Given his undead like appearance, The Ghoul on Fallout is perhaps an unlikely target of fan adulation, but one could argue that the love for the character extends from the tremendous work done by Walton Goggins. He is a ruthless sonofabitch, operating as a bounty hunter in a postapocalyptic wasteland, but he has a soul, and one can't help but admire his skill and swagger. In Goggins' words, he is a very complicated guy.

Walton Goggins has expressed fear about reprising his role for Fallout Season 2 and the prospect of returning to the makeup chair, but hopefully his energy will be buoyed by the great public affection for his character. The show has not just inspired pockets of fandom, but earned love from TV viewers around the globe. He told the magazine,

So what exactly is it about The Ghoul on Fallout that makes him so compelling? According to the show's co-creator Geneva Robertson-Dworet, at least part of the love extends from audiences loving to see a character be as skilled and efficient as he is – despite the fact that what he is doing is nasty business. Walton Goggins has played a number of fun roles throughout his career, but one could argue that he captured audiences attention in a big way through the 2024 TV schedule entry Fallout. The veteran actor played the role of Cooper Howard a.k.a. The Ghoul, and his performance as the cowboy-esque character was met with critical acclaim. Now, Goggins is set to reprise the role for the upcoming second season of one of the best shows on Prime Video. With that, Goggins revealed one reason he’s “really scared” to play the part again, and I totally get it.

A major reason why Fallout Season 2 surely remains anticipated amongst fans is because of just how impeccable the first season was. So there are a lot of expectations going into this next stretch of the show’s narrative. However, while discussing the upcoming episodes with EW, Walton Goggins didn’t refer to the high level of excitement amongst viewers as a concern. For the Righteous Gemstones star, it’s the makeup process that’s daunting:

Honestly, I’m somewhat surprised to hear that this is a concern for the Justified alum, considering one of his recent updates. The star recently posted on Instagram that he was back in the makeup chair for Season 2, and there was also a photo of prosthetics being applied to his face. He seemed enthusiastic about getting back to work, even declaring that he does “this shit for the love of the game.” With all of that said, though, I can understand the concerns the Ant-Man and the Wasp star has.

Walton Goggins’ character comes to stunning life not only because of the actor’s winning portrayal but due to the efforts of skilled makeup artists as well. While promoting Fallout earlier this year, Goggins explained that his transformation into the Ghoul took a long time each day he was on set. He even told CinemaBlend during a separate interview that his southern drawl was even impacted by the prosthetics. It definitely sounds like donning the makeup is no easy task, so his efforts are definitely appreciated.

For his performance as the Ghoul, Mr. Goggins has received multiple award nominations, including nods for the Gotham TV Awards, the Saturn Awards and the Astra TV Awards. The actor was also nominated for the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. On top of all that, many of the critics’ positive takes on the video game adaptation mentioned Goggins’ amazing performance. So I think the hours that the Invincible cast member spends in the makeup chair are worth it.

The ending of Fallout Season 1 saw the Ghoul setting out to find the braintrust of Vault-Tec alongside former Vault 33 dweller Lucy MacClean. I’m looking forward to seeing their story continue and for Walton Goggins to jump back into the role of his gun-toting wasteland inhabitant. Also, since Goggins has been through the makeup process quite a bit at this point, let’s hope it’ll be somewhat easier for him as he works on the second season.

One of the most pleasant surprises of the 2024 TV schedule had to have been Amazon Prime Video’s Fallout. This adaptation of the beloved video game series garnered critical acclaim and reportedly raked in solid viewership numbers as well. So it wasn’t really all that surprising when the streamer greenlit the post-apocalyptic drama for a second season. With that, one of the biggest questions fans have been left to ponder is when production might start. Well, cast member Walton Goggins is now back in the makeup chair, and it looks intense.

Walton Goggins has long been a fan-favorite actor, and he received considerable praise and an Emmy nomination for his performance as Cooper Howard/The Ghoul. The star seemed to confirm that production on Fallout Season 2 was getting started by posting a behind-the-scenes photo to Instagram. The lone pic seems to show the actor’s face being fitted for the prosthetics necessary for him to portray his gun-slinging character. Check out the pic for yourself:

Believe me when I say that I’m deliriously excited for the eventual return of Fallout, and it’s wonderful to see that filming seems to have commenced or that, at the very least, pre-production is in motion. Chances are it could still be some time before those new episodes actually see the light of day. But, nevertheless, fans should be excited. Of course, there’s another element of this post that needs to be discussed as well.

The impeccable makeup work that’s done for the show is also more than worth talking about, as the artisans who develop it are so talented. As tedious as it likely is to create those prosthetics, it’s surely intense for the actors themselves to have them applied and subsequently have to act in them. Walton Goggins has been open about his own makeup experiences, as he previously revealed that his Ghoul transformation took a lot of time. In addition to that, Goggins explained to CinemaBlend just how the makeup impacted his signature Southern drawl. He’s a trained (and paid) actor, but I still appreciate his efforts and those of the makeup artists.

Fallout was renewed shortly after the show’s premiere this past April. At the time, lead actress Ella Purnell and co-stars Aaron Moten and Kyle MacLachlan expressed great enthusiasm over the news. In October, Purnell discussed Season 2’s status with CinemaBlend, at which point she admitted that she wasn’t sure when filming would start. The actress also said that while she hadn’t received a script or heard about any filming details, she was excited to jump back into her role as ex-Vault 33 resident Lucy MacLean.

After the conclusion of Fallout Season 1, the main characters were left in some interesting positions. Lucy and the Ghoul teamed up to find the heads of Vault-Tec, while Maximus (Aaron Moten) was knighted by the Brotherhood of Steel after he was believed to have been responsible for the death of commander Lee Moldaver. And, in a particularly exciting turn of events, Lucy’s sinister father, Hank, made his way to what was left of New Vegas.

I’m excited to see what lies ahead on this excellent show, but I’m also fully aware that I’m going to need to be patient as well. Nevertheless, Walton Goggins’ makeup post will serve as a solid reminder that progress is being made when it comes to the new episodes. And, of course, it’s also a true testament to the fact that Goggins does “this shit for the love of the game.”

For those dearly missing murder mysteries set within the most luxe locations, The White Lotus Season 3 is next bringing some Thailand-set twists to HBO, even if it won’t show up within the 2024 TV schedule proper. It’s the kind of show that pretty much anyone would want to be in, and not just randos like myself, but Hollywood faves like Conan O’Brien.

In fact, while interviewing new Season 3 cast member Walton Goggins on his A+ podcast Conan Needs a Friend, the former late night mainstay revealed that he met up with creator Mike White in the months after filming in Thailand for his binge-worthy travel show Conan O’Brien Must Go, and before White Lotus started filming again. O’Brien apparently pitched himself for a Season 3 appearance, with White having…uh…a pretty specific idea in mind. As the host put it:

As it usually goes with Conan O’Brien, it’s nearly impossible to tell exactly how much of this exchange was legitimate, though I’d lean into the belief that it happened as is. I mean, I’m sure Mike White said other things before bringing up the country’s sex work, such as a salutation.

But there’s no questioning why the White Lotus boss would immediately jump to the concept of “Conan O’Brien as a sex worker in Thailand,” right? I mean, the red hair alone would make him right at home. Or the exact opposite. Regardless of whether he would look the part or not, Walton Goggins gave the pitch his stamp of approval, saying:

Such a gentleman! Even when asked to clarify whether he thought O'Brien could pull off playing a sex worker on TV or actually being a sex worker in real life, Goggins charmingly kept the positivity going.

I kinda think Walton Goggins would be amazing to have as an alarm clock. He'd probably wake people up in the least jarring way before offering encouraging words about how the rest of the day will go. A Conan O'Brien alarm would be cool, too, but probably more self-deprecating than motivational.

The chances are not very high for any former late night hosts to show up on The White Lotus in Season 3, which wrapped production in the first week of August 2024. But I suppose they're not entirely negligible, so never say never.

Among Fallout’s 16 nominations, Walton Goggins' charismatic performance as The Ghoul got a nod in the category Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. With The Shield actor portraying two roles on the show as a gun-slinging bounty hunter and his pre-apocalyptic version of Cooper Howard, this Emmy nomination is well-deserved. Once nominated for the neo-Western crime drama Justified, the American actor shared in a statement via ABC News expressing how thankful he is for this honor:

Richard Gadd made his Netflix debut with a bang creating and starring in one of the legacy streaming service’s best shows Baby Reindeer. As Gadd brought to the dark-comedy series his real-life hardest moments, the Scottish entertainer knew how to make us laugh with his awkward yet relatable comedy stylings and make us cry when his character showed heartbreaking vulnerability.

With a first Emmy nomination under his belt now, Gadd took to Instagram to share his thanks to those who helped bring his show to life:

Another performer who got her first Emmy nomination for acting this year is veteran actress Jodie Foster. Her empowering decades-long career earned her two Oscars, three BAFTAs, and three Golden Globe Awards. Foster has been nominated at the Emmys as a producer and a director. However, after returning to the horror vibes in True Detective: Night Country to play Chief Liz Danvers, she now has her first Emmy nomination for acting. Another Emmy nominee reaction came from Quinta Brunson, who’s the brains and star power of Abbott Elementary. After her comedy show’s first season picked up three wins at the 2022 Emmys, and another one at the 2023 ceremony, it’s no surprise that Season 3 would be filled with just as much success. Listen, there’s been a lot already written about Fallout ahead of Season 2, including plenty of stuff about how tough it was for Walton Goggins to endure the hours of makeup it took for him to get into costume as The Ghoul. While his character has been described as literally looking “like a melted candle,” there’s actually a fairly sizable faction of fans who are kind of into it, and not in a “this is cool makeup” way. More like in a let’s talk about how “The Ghoul is a zaddy” kind of way.

In fact, one of those fans jokingly tweeted about their (seemingly) favorite Fallout character, using the oft-repeated viral “Incels think women only want rich hot chads with sports cars and six packs but at this very moment, women are losing their minds” post starter to talk about the Internet’s new post-apocalyptic cowboy. And he responded to boot!

To be clear, Fallout is going for handsome – in an offbeat way – with The Ghoul. Goggins was clear about this whilst doing press for Season 1. He’s a handsome 52-year-old dude, after all, whether or not he has a nose. The actor previously told Rotten Tomatoes that they wanted to create a “piece” to apply that would “allow” his face to still remain his face so there would be enough for the audience to develop “empathy” for the character. He said:

It seems to have worked. Honestly, a few weeks after the release of the show, noted parody site The Onion ran a headline that read “Women Explain Why They Are Attracted To Walton Goggins’ Character In Fallout.” Goggins reshared the funny response his showrunner Lisa Joy Nolan had to the joke-y-yet-relevant post too.

People might have all the jokes about the infamously noseless character, but legitimately the responses to posts like these have really leaned into the ghoul as a romantic hero. In fact, everyone's playing along for their favorite ghoul daddy.

At the end of the day, like Law & Order: Organized Crime’s Christopher Meloni or even Survivor’s Jeff Probst, Walton Goggins is having his Zaddy moment. Honestly, if you’d told me before this year, I probably would have thought it would come during The White Lotus Season 3 after Walton Goggins joined that cast, but here we are. Luckily, if you have been into the actor’s recent performances, there’s more to come.

Fallout has become a massive hit for everybody with a Prime Video subscription, so much so that Fallout Season 2 is already on the way. Nobody really knows what’s in store for the characters, beyond a trip to New Vegas, least of all the actors that play them, but that seemingly won’t be too different from the way filming the actual series was handled, as Ella Purnell says the Fallout stars didn’t even know what was coming for their characters from one episode to the next.

Sometimes it's due to scripts being rewritten until the last minute, sometimes it’s due to attempts to keep secrets to avoid leaks, but it’s become common practice for actors to not see parts of their script until necessary. Ella Purnell tells THR this was the case for Fallout, one of the best Prime Video shows, which resulted in her not knowing what her own character’s story would be, and how she would relate to Walton Goggins’ Ghoul until the very end. She explained…

Purnell says she only realized the connection between her character of Lucy and Goggins’ Ghoul at the end, saying she was stupid for not getting it sooner. Considering the way the series was given to her a piece at a time, I’m not sure the actress is giving herself enough credit. It's possible Walton Goggins felt the same way.  

As she says, she didn’t really know what would come with each part of her story, which caused her to have to constantly recalibrate her performance. That doesn’t seem like the optimum way for an actor to perform. If she had understood where her story was going to end in Fallout Season 1, that could have influenced her performance at the beginning.

At the same time, maybe it’s the right way to do it. Lucy the character certainly doesn’t know where her story is going to go, so with each episode, Purnell can only act based on what has already happened and what is currently happening. Maybe that’s the more authentic performance.

Either way, she shouldn’t blame herself for not understanding what the show was doing if she didn’t know where it was going. We know where Season 2 will start based on the Fallout Season 1 ending, with Lucy and the Ghoul on the hunt for Lucy’s dad. Where things will go from there, maybe the showrunners can at least give Ella Purnell a hint. 

Even though the debut of Amazon’s Fallout series took place a little while ago on the 2024 TV schedule, there’s still plenty to discuss in the wake of Prime Video’s explosive hit. And as the wait for Fallout Season 2 begins, part of the discussion keeps circling back to the impressive makeup done to transform Walton Goggins’ handsome actor Cooper Howard into the wasteland anti-hero simply known as “The Ghoul.”

The man himself is contributing to that conversation yet again, comparing the makeup experience of this Bethesda games adaptation to getting into a Ferrari. At least, that’s what his chat with The Independent seemed to imply, with his full remarks reading thusly:

In order to make Goggins fit The Ghoul’s “melted candle” description, the process described in the interview was clocked in between the range of “under two” and five hours of prosthetic work. Even for a mere facial appliance, that's a pretty admirable amount of evolution when it comes to the timeframe at work.

Naturally, the process started at the higher end, and gradually it improved in its efficiency. This makes sense as this process aligns with the stories we’ve heard from actors who have spent hours going through full-body transformations, like Jennifer Lawrence and Rebecca Romijn, who both played the role of Mystique in the X-Men movies. So, the resulting prosthetic makeup Ferrari, while leading to an incident where Walton Goggins scared himself after a nap while wearing the makeup, was definitely worth the effort.

And as far as packing any sort of performance and emotional “groceries” into this hot rod are concerned, judging by the feedback and the following Goggins’ Ghoul has acquired, the ride definitely handles to an impressive degree. Not only are some fans thirsting over Walton as The Ghoul, but the emotional through-line between his pre and post-bomb personas is an effective study in contrast.

One has to wonder how Fallout’s makeup game will be stepped up in Season 2. Not to mention, there’s also the question of whether Walton Goggins’ time in the chair will stay under two hours in the beginning, or if it’ll be a process that either spends more or less time on that very enterprise. Whatever may happen, at the current moment Fallout is doing rather well for itself (I mean it is one of Amazon Prime's best shows); and Walton certainly seems game for whatever he'll be put through in the next round of irradiated entertainment.

While technology has been able to do amazing things in the entertainment industry and create objects, and worlds that we might never see otherwise, there is some clear love among many film fans for the way things used to be.  Both movie fans, and the actors themselves, often criticize green screens and think some directors rely too much on technology in favor of shooting on location. However, Fallout’s Walton Goggins has a different view.

With the popularity of superhero movies and other major tentpole films in the fantasy and science fiction genres, green screens have become an almost necessary part of film production. Many actors have complained about the necessity of acting against nothing, but Walton Goggins tells The Independent he doesn’t mind performing on green screens sometimes because there’s something to be said about being able to digitally recreate awful weather so the actors don’t have to actually experience it. Goggins said…

And the man knows of what he speaks. Goggins has done his share of movies that included significant green screens. Goggins joined the MCU as part of the cast of Ant-Man and the Wasp. Marvel is usually the studio singled out when actors or fans focus on the heavy use of green screens or other digital effects.

The recent Fallout series, which was a smash hit among those with a Prime Video subscription, didn't use as much CGI as one might expect. Many of the Fallout props were created practically and the show was largely filmed on location, but since the story took place in a wasteland, that location meant Fallout shot in a desert where temperatures got quite extreme. While not needing to imagine what the wasteland looked like may have been nice as an actor, not being stuck in that heat probably would have been nice too. 

It sounds like what Walton Goggins really wants is just some variety in his work. He probably doesn’t want to work with green screens all the time, but neither is he looking to completely avoid them. Shooting on location is a lot more work for him and sometimes he prefers the simplicity of shooting on a green screen. He continued…

With Fallout Season 2 on the way, Walton Goggins will be heading back to the desert at some point. Perhaps he can find some green screen work to balance that out. Maybe there’s an opportunity for his MCU villain to return. 

Looking at Amazon Prime’s Top 10, a list that Fallout has dominated for weeks, there’s a new sci-fi Western in town and at the No. 1 spot. That’s right, Josh Brolin’s Outer Range has usurped the place the beloved video game adaption held. However, this is not a bad change at all, in fact, it’s a great update. That’s because, now I get to tell you why you should definitely check out the sci-fi Western that is all the rage with that Amazon Prime subscription you used to watch Fallout. 

Fallout Is No Longer No. 1 On Amazon Prime

The critically acclaimed Fallout hit Amazon Prime like an explosion, and it racked up 65 million viewers in two weeks, per Variety. In the first 16 days of the sci-fi video game adaptation being released, it brought in those seriously impressive numbers, making it the second most-watched show on the streamer – The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power is at the top of that field. Now, it’s been out for over a month, and a new show has taken its place. 

Since Outer Range released its second season on the 2024 TV schedule, it has skyrocketed up Amazon Prime’s viewing charts, per FlixPatrol, where it currently sits at No. 1. This means, the dominant Fallout has finally fallen from its top position. 

However, great shows rise and fall, and if anything, this movement is amazing, because it helps introduce audiences to new projects they might love. And in this case, if you loved the Ghoul and the sci-fi Western elements of Fallout, hold onto your cowboy hat, because you’ll 100% want to check out Prime’s current top show next. 

However, It's Replacement Is Another Sci-Fi Western Worth Checking Out

So, here’s what Fallout and Outer Range have in common: they’re both two of Amazon Prime’s best shows, they both feature some intense and thought-provoking sci-fi and Western elements, and they both have stacked casts. 

Namely, while Walton Goggins helps lead the Fallout cast as the gunslinging cowboy-like outlaw Ghoul, Josh Brolin leads Outer Range as Royal Abbott, a cowboy out of time who is trying to figure out how time travel works and how it impacts his family. Truly, both shows are led by incredible cowboys, however, that’s where the similarities end.

While Fallout is dystopian, Outer Range takes place in the present. While the video game adaptation traverses many different places, this Western is glued to pretty much one location. Plus, as far as I know (I’m not a gamer) there’s no time travel in Fallout. In Outer Range, time travel is the name of the game and talk about vaults and irradiated creatures don’t happen. 

However, it’s always fun to try something new, and if you are a fan of the Western elements of the video game adaptation along with the family drama sprinkled in, I think you’ll be surprised by how much you like Prime’s new No. 1 show. 

Like Fallout, the mystery behind the primary point of tension in Outer Range -- it's a black void that sends people through time -- pulls you right into Josh Brolin's show, and when it's over, you'll want more. 

Between Josh Brolin bringing in a devoted fanbase, the fact that this sci-fi Western is in its second season, and Season 1 of Outer Range leaving us with lots of thoughts and questions, it makes sense why it’s been lifted to No. 1. With all that said, if you are a fan of Fallout, and you are in need of a new show to watch while we wait for Fallout Season 2, I honestly can’t recommend Outer Range more.
